Case Study Sick Leave
Sick Leave In case study 8 Sick Leave, and the cross culture communication is a dilemma because of
the differences in work ethics between an employee from the United States working in Japan, and
what is expected by the supervisor in Japan. The difference is the fact that Kelly, the Canadian
employee, is highly educated in the field of management, and wants to follow employment rules and
regulations to the best of her ability, within both her norm as well as what is written in her current
employment.. On the other hand, the Supervisor in Japan, Mr. Higashi, he wishes to hold to the loyalty
to the company and what is the culture norm, rather than what is in line with Japanese employment
rules and regulations. With this scenario the conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Higashi and Kelly. With Mr. Higashi the intangible factor would be his work and cultural ethics when
it comes to work. The Japanese are hardworking and very loyal as they tend to stay with one employer
for long time and choose not to use their earned vacation time no matter what employment regulations
state. Additionally, when a Japanese employee is sick, they use paid time off rather than sick leave,
and this has become the norm broadly across the culture.
With Kelly, the tangible factor is the fact that she became ill and appropriately notified her supervisor,
then expected and wanted to use sick time, as employee regulations clearly outline. This falls within
her norm as she learned in the U.S./Canadian as she received her management degree from the
Canadian University.
When dealing with tangible or intangible factors such as in this scenario, while both are important the
tangible factors are more important because such as Kelly working through the JET program, written
regulations and employment laws are very important to follow. If they are not, the program may be
doomed to fail over time because is regulations are not followed, there could be a strong decline of
U.S. / Canadian involvement with

Norms Of Humanitarian Intervention
Constructing Norms of Humanitarian Intervention Martha Finnemore the author of the article
Constructing Norms of Humanitarian Intervention tries to find answer to the question why states make
humanitarian intervention while there are not any geostrategic or economic interests. In the article she
uses different case studies which help us having better undertanding about some key constructivist
concepts. The article consists of three parts where the reader is able to see author s explanations,
arguments, and claims. First part intruduction section begins with the period since end of the cold war
when some states intervened militarily for humanitarian purposes such as allevieting starvation or
establishing order. The answer for why states interven is changing normative context. The author
empasizes the importance of normative context which shapes conseptions of interest. Over the years
the shifting in intervention behaviour causes changing in states behaviour. The changes have occured

Cant Dress
Society can make you feel different in multiple ways especially in this day of age, they way you dress
takes a big toll in society nowadays. If your dressed in the latest Jordan s or the best clothes in the
mall you are considered cool and are complimented more than someone who cant dress or is
considered lame or looked over most of the time. Just because someone doesn t have on a name brand
shirt gives another person the right to talk about them the right to talk about someone? People don t
understand when people do things like that opens up other doors such as insecurities, bulling, etc.
Does expensive clothes make someone better than another? Or does expensive clothes boost ones ego
up? I don t believe in someone buying expensive clothes to just to fit in. In this day of age people are
very judge mental; especially teens. You are considered cool if you are dressed in the latest attire, and

People still like to treat themselves and do wear what they want but still get bashed because of that. I
heard someone say we are all slaves to society, we listen and follow whatever we hear or see no matter
the source; and that disappointing. People run and hop on the new trend just because there scared of
being the odd one out and being the butt of peoples jokes. Its sad that that s how society works but that
s just how it is. Even the people that can dress couldn t always dress sometime in their life. No one
should be considered lame because of the way they are dressed. Don t get me wrong following trends
are normal for a teenager; but following them just so you can look cool is not nothing to be proud of.

The High Cost Of Samsung s Competition In The Electronics...
After a little over a decade since its establishment, Samsung, who was once a small business focusing
on exporting perishables is now one of the biggest manufacturing company in the world that revenue
of over $167 Billion. From an economic perspective, as technology changes becoming more efficient,
it gives other companies the ability to compete in manufacturing the products. As the electronics
industry continues to grow, more companies are competing with Apple. As of today, Samsung is one
of the largest competitors to Apple. Both companies are trying to win the technology market,
especially smartphones since they launched their own line of smartphones Samsung Galaxy in June
2009 and the iPhone in June 2007.
One of the reasons Samsung s still in this game of tug of war with Apple is Samsung s capability in
manufacturing their own components for the Galaxy smartphones. This gives them a rather strong
grasp on cost advantage compared to Apple. Even Apple uses a Samsung manufactured processors,
NAND flash and DRAM memory chips since the beginning (Forbes, 2016), which is why we see a
rather higher selling price for Apple s iPhone due to their cost to their supplier, Samsung. One way for
Apple to win over this is to attract Samsung loyal customers, who are said to be more price conscious,
by creating an inexpensive iPhone in a long run like the iPhone 5c that was discontinued at the end of
2015.
However, even if Samsung had this cost advantage over Apple, Apple is still

Explain Why The United Kingdom Is A Developed Country
The United Kingdom is a developed country which is located in the most western part of Europe on an
island to the east of Ireland. This country is developed because of it s economy, population, and
amount of modern conveniences.
Based upon the economy of Great Britain, it is very well developed. It is in the tertiary sector of the
economic structure which means that more services are given out than goods, the higher in the
structure the more developed a country is. In the United Kingdom, 83.5 percent of everything that is
output into the economy are services and only 16.5 percent of the economy is either industry of
agriculture which again, proves the fact that the United Kingdom s economy is a part of the third
tertiary. To compare with a well known developed country, the United States, the economy is 79.1
percent services which shows the fact that the economies are not at all far off from each other.
The population in the United Kingdom also provides evidence that it is a developed country, the infant
mortality rate is about 4.3 deaths/100,000 live births which translates to about .000043 deaths which is
a rather low infant mortality rate. The lower the rate, the more developed the country s medical care is.

Improving Reaction Time
Reaction time is how much time it takes to react or respond to a stimulant. It is taken by the elapsed
time between the beginning of the application of the stimulant and the beginning of an organism s
reaction it. Atoms carry the charge of electricity and when the nerve impulse starts, it flows through
the channels in the membrane. This changes the charge to positive from the resting stage to its
negative charge. It then carries a nerve impulse through the cell axon into the synapse, causing
neurotransmitters to be released into the synaptic cleft. Reaction time is genetically passed down,
which demonstrates how improving reaction time could be difficult since it can only be improved by
10 20 percent with exercise or practice. One way to help increase reaction time would be having
caffeine in your body because it stimulates adrenaline to be produced and increase improvement of
percentage. Neurons are particular cells that transmit signals to the brain and are an important building
block of the central nervous system. Neurons have action potential which is caused by ion channels
that shut when the membrane potential close the resting potential. It then begins depolarization, which
allows sodium ions to produce more membrane potential, allowing more channels to open. ... Show

Exercise allows certain neurotransmitters to be released in the brain to relieve mental and physical
pain. It does this by exerting its effects to the brain through several mechanisms. Any time of aerobic
exercise boosts neural connections by increasing the amount of dendrite connections between each
neuron. Exercise has an effect on reaction time because of the increased circulation in the brain, which
allows the body to process information quicker which leads to a faster reaction time. Another way
exercise increases reaction time is when the muscles are able to react to stimuli with more accuracy
when the muscle has more

Brainstorming
Brainstorming is a very powerful creative thinking and idea generating technique. It is a decision
making process used by groups to help generate a large number of ideas through an interactive
process. The main goals of this technique are to help break out of habit bound thinking and to produce
a set of ideas where there is more than one choice when making a decision.
Guidelines
Brainstorming is useful for attacking specific rather than general problems and where a collection of
good, fresh, new ideas, rather than judgment or decision analysis, are needed. (Harris, 2002) There are
some basic guidelines that should be adhered to for the most successful results.

Portrait of a Lady
First written in the 1880s and extensively revised in 1908, The Portrait of a Lady is often considered
to be James s greatest achievement. In it, he explored many of his most characteristic themes,
including the conflict between American individualism and European social custom and the situation
of Americans in Europe. James proclaimed that The only reason for the existence of a novel is that it
does attempt to represent reality. Plot was for him but the extension of character. The novel must show
rather than tell he was interested in why people did as they did, rather than simply in what they did;

most of James s fiction of the 1870s, and the majority of his writing for the rest of his career, Portrait
focuses on a group of expatriate Americans in England and Europe. Leisured, cultured, but just a bit
bored, Daniel Touchett and his son Ralph are idly passing their time at Daniel s country estate,
Gardencourt, but find themselves reenergized when Daniel s all but estranged wife, Lydia, brings with

and makes its fate so problematic; when her Aunt Lydia reproaches her for staying up late to talk to
Ralph and his friend, Lord Warburton, Isabel thanks her for informing her of the social prohibition but
claims that she wants this knowledge only so as to choose whether to follow it. Despite, or perhaps
because of, this very American insistence on freedom of choice, Isabel attracts one suitor after
another: first Lord Warburton; then

Comparing Spongebob, Patrick, And Squidward
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Do you recognize that intro to one of the most influential TV
shows of all time? Or should I say what used to be one of the most influential shows of all time. Over
the years, the main characters such as Spongebob, Patrick, and Squidward have been downgraded
from their original characteristics. Now the show is just a mockery of the original Spongebob and
needs to just end. Spongebob started off his series as an intelligent, yet misguided figure. He was not a
character that was consistently making stupid mistakes. He knew what he was doing most of the time,
but did make a couple mistakes every once and awhile like every character does. Then after the

The Spongebob Movie is said to mark the end of the Golden Age of Spongebob. Now he is basically a

The Influence Of Treading In Emily Dickinson s Poems
Emily Dickinson was an American poet who was born on December tenth, 1830. Emily Dickinson
lived a very secluded life and preferred to stay in her home in New England and she even lived in
isolation starting in the 1860s only seeing close family members ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org).
Dickinson began to write while spending her days in her home reading. Her style of writing and
themes were influenced by seventeenth century English poetry ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org). Her
puritan and religious upbringing also led to her different style of writing ( Emily Dickinson ,
poets.org). Her poems were never published when she was alive, instead they were found after her
passing and published. When they found her poems after she passed they discovered she had written
around 1,800 poems ( Emily Dickinson , poets.org)! Most of her poems are about death and some

Analysis Of Scott Momaday s Journey To Rainy Mountain
Introduction
People come from different backgrounds and ancestral foundations. They are at times defined by these
beginnings, and some may end up wanting to know more. Most do not find their ancestral grounding
in their childhood but come to realize it later in life. Many have the advantage of being someone and
identifying with their culture as a basis of their personality. Maintaining proper and adequate
understanding is determined by what one handles and does on a personal, cultural and familial level.
Scott Momaday is a reflection of a person who has been born and lives within the culture. His book,
Journey to Rainy Mountain, is a collection of poems, memoirs and myths on the Kiowa culture.

Part 1 Al Momaday
Looking at the father s memoir and experiences, there is a lot to be discussed because he is a sign of
historical accuracy. He gives an account of how things were in terms of family, leadership and his
existence as a Kiowa man. It gives experiences on how his life was formed around the people of
Kiowa and his obligations to the tribe, nature and family (Momaday 20). His role as a Kiowa man
brings forth his understanding and shows a lot of offerings and activities that happened along ancestral
grounds. It demonstrates the kind of attitude and impression that Momaday had towards his father and
what he regarded him to be in terms of being the head of the family (Momaday 26). It presents the
responsibility that the father took up and other men had within the tribe. The mythical part is mostly
within the experiences and explanations of the father who sets the tone of showing the Kiowa life in a
balanced yet mystical way.
Part 2 Historical Information
The historical information regarding the Kiowa people reflects on the mythological and culture of the
Kiowa people. It sets the tone of identifying the strengths of the tribe, practices and ideas that
developed within the tribe. It also shows a relation of the Kiowa people to nature, other mythical
creatures and how the culture came into existence. It also shows what made the culture of so much
importance to those who practiced it and in what context they felt that they were able to

What Is The Mood Of The Poem The Pigeons And The Girls
The Pigeons And The Girls by Christopher Middleton was a poem about how everyone is the same,
whether it be an animal or a human. The poem is also told in two point of views; the girl s point of
view and then the pigeon s point of view. I could not find many rhetorical terms in the poem except
one. I also feel like Middleton is somehow trying to compare the fragile woman with a pigeon, or he is
trying to make a reference to how sometimes girls can seem small or flightful like birds. Imagery was
the only rhetorical term that I found in the poem, and it was in the quotes, a thigh or hip bone was not

Until 1950 Faridabad was intended to be a marketing centre for milk and vegetables. The relationship
to the surrounding country was less important than the influence of Delhi as consumption and
employment centre.
Stage 2: 1949 2000 Creative Phase of Faridabad as an Industrial Hub
Resettlement of Refugee
After independence, the town became an important centre for the resettlement of refugees because of
India Pakistan partition. They were rehabilitated by Jawaharlal Nehru as part of the Pakistani Refugee
Resettlement Project (PRRP) following partition in 1947. Also in an attempt to de clog Delhi, many
central government offices were consciously moved to this city. What was previously just a wasteland
was converted into a thriving colony. This was also a big and unique human experiment, to resettle
people (Jain L.C, 1998)

Profit Vist Non Profit
Introduction Whenever looking at financials, a certain level of accountability and understanding is
needed to be able to have great measurability of success. That is the case for any individual especially
when applying this thought of rational to a business or corporation even more accountability,
understanding, and most importantly precision are needed to successfully bring in as well as continue
financial sustainability. When dealing within a corporation there are many levels to adhere to within
the financial everyday aspects of the corporation being ran with precision. So what happens when an

So how can that definition be taken in? Is a non profit organization just a business trying to avoid
paying taxes? That could be the case though let us delve a little deeper.
Recognizing Non Profit Organizations
Taking a look at non profit organizations will breed a sense of familiarity. Five of the most known and
recognizable non profits are National Public Radio (NPR), United Nations Children s Fund
(UNICEF), Human Rights Watch (HRW), Wiki Leaks, and Green Peace. These are all organizations
we have come across with familiarity, with maybe the exception of Green Peace. As any avid listener
of National Public Radio I can attest to the programs being run on the basis of callers calling in and
pledging donations to help keep certain programs as well as the station afloat. Some of these other
organizations are also based upon donation interaction, however, to label their financial situation as
strictly donation base would be an ignorant train of thought. All of these organizations do a great job
acquiring revenue to help the operation of the organization.
Financial Stability Being financially stable is an issue of any organization or corporation. This is an
issue touched on by Padilla, Staplefoote, and Morganti as they state the following the definition of

Britain s Victory Of The Falklands War
Britain s victory in the Falklands War undoubtedly contributed to the Conservative Party s election
victory in 1983. However, it should not be considered essential to this triumph. Historians such as
Helmut Norpoth have suggested that the Falklands factor significantly increased the popularity of the
Thatcher administration and resulted in her re election. Dennis Kavanagh noted the effect on the war
on Margaret Thatcher s image and emphasised the importance of this during the election campaign.
Nevertheless, the Conservative success in 1983 must be attributed primarily to the pre war
circumstances including the poor public perception of the Labour Party following their tenure in office
prior to 1979 and Thatcher s social and economic policies. The Conservative victory was not down to
a singular event, but a combination of events that all affected her image and her perception by the
British electorate. Had Labour been a stronger opponent, the Conservatives may not have won in
1983. The most valid conclusion drawn is that of Peter Riddell; the 1983 election was a result of
opposition weaknesses and the dividing role of the Alliance rather than the Falklands factor.
The Falklands conflict was, in the opinion of both Thatcher and many historians believed to be a key
reason for Thatcher s re election. The fact that the Conservatives had a jump in support of 11 per cent
between February and July 1982 showed that the conflict was beneficial to the party, despite initial
resistance

Anabolic Steroids Have On The Body
Anabolic androgenic steroids are a synthetic version of testosterone which one injects into the body.
There are many different types of steroids however the most commonly abused are stimulants, HGH

testosterone many athletes, especially bodybuilders, take steroids to increase lean muscle mass,
strength, and performance. Anabolic androgenic steroids are a controversial topic within sports. The

Anabolic androgenic steroids play an important role in the pharmaceutical industry and have many
beneficial effects on sick patients. According to the Parssinen and Seppala the authors of the article

testosterone are effective and well tolerated pharmaceutical agents when administered for proper
medical indications such as androgen replacement therapy, osteoporosis, aplastic anemia, and cancer.
(Parssinen, Seppala, pg. 1). The issue is that the abuse of steroids have increased within athletes and
many doctors are concerned of the adverse effects that it will have.
Many studies have been conducted over the past few decades and have shown the harmful effects that
steroids can have on an athlete s body. In the article Steroids in Combat Sports: Adverse effects on

Living in the 21t century, diversity is seen all aspects of life, majorly in the workplace. A rising issue

Sexual orientation refers to a person s sexual identity in relation to the gender to which they are

harassment of gay and transgender individuals in the workplace as well as throughout the hiring

Persuasive Essay On Right To Bear Arms
Only this month, 59 were killed and over 500 people were injured during a country music concert in
Vegas in what is now known as the deadliest mass shooting in American history. Last year, 49 were
killed and 58 were injured in a gay nightclub in Florida. In 2012, a mass shooting in Sandy Hook
Elementary School took 27 lives, 20 of them being first graders. The list of these unthinkable and
stomach churning acts is quickly turning endless, forcing us to rethink why we truly have the right to
bear arms. Many defend the second amendment by claiming we need this right for self defense, which
is the most wretched part. When we look at what we have lost compared to what we have earned in
this fight to keep the right to bear arms, this privilege does not seem worth the sacrifice of so many
lives. In today s world, we do not defense through guns but from them. Our policymakers keep trying
to reach a compromise by putting in place certain regulations. Some states require would be gun
owners to fulfill a firearms safety course in order to obtain their license. Such training courses,
however, even when not required, are very advisable for the would be gun owner, as they ensure that
he or she has all the necessary information on liability issues, on safety, and even on care and
maintenance of the gun ( How to Get a Gun License 1). This lack of attention illustrates that despite
the multiple tragedies that have taken place in our nation, some states do not even require a simple
safety course that ensures the safety of our people. Furthermore, it is required that one must pass a
background check. The questions asked on the test are the following:
*Have you ever been convicted of a felony?
*Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence?
*Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any other depressant, stimulant, narcotic
drug, or any other controlled substance?
*Are you a fugitive from justice?
*Have you ever been committed to a mental institution?
The store [selling the guns] then calls the FBI, which runs a background check on the person [trying to
obtain a gun] through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, also known as NICS.

If it means that the schoolrooms will be more orderly and more disciplined, and that our young people
will learn to evaluate themselves by what they are on the inside instead of what they re wearing on the
outside, then our public schools should be able to require their students to wear uniforms. Former
President Clinton said this in a speech in in March of 1996. There is an immense controversy about
whether a school uniform will help or hinder a student. After much deliberation and inquiry, public
schools should be allowed to enforce their students to wear uniforms. The largest part of the debate is
whether or not the uniform hinders a student s personal expression.. Along with giving kids the chance

A uniform saves parents from having to keep buying their kid the latest trend and name brand
clothing. Buying five different uniform styles is a lot cheaper than having to buy 30 40 different
clothing styles and colors. Most uniforms can be easily altered or added to for the changing of the
seasons, which saves time and money from not having to shop the seasons.
Along with easy purchase, uniforms also help cut down bullying. Implementing uniforms gives kids a
better sense of school pride, in which they care more about the school and each other. For example
when Long Beach introduced uniforms in 1995 they received data that showed the in school fights
decreased by 38%, suspension rates dropped by 90% and furthermore the overall crime rates dropped
by 91%. School uniforms would work in the same way an athletic team uniform would; it would give
them a sense of pride and belonging. Like athletic teams, when a team member or student would wear
their jersey, or in this case uniform, they would cloak themselves in their school color they would feel
obligated to make sure they represent the best for their school to show that they care and they are
going to prove how exceptional their school is. A uniform can improve the overall school and also
move beyond the school halls and out to the community. Most bullies make fun of a kid by how he or
she looks, so by schools implementing uniforms they level the playing fields

its name by its horned ears. This remarkable creature really stands out in the bird family due to the
lack of predators and how small and aggressive it is. The Great Horned Owl is one of many Owls.
Although there are many different species of owls, this one is unique. This particular owl is small, has
a different diet, is widely known, and is one of the more radical looking owls. The Great Horned Owl
is a beautiful, majestic type of bird. It s a smaller kind of owl, but it sure does pack a punch. It s

Language Death Essay
Main Issues: The way in which our world functions today is a result of colonialization. Language
death and linguistic endangerment is woven with colonialization and the history of oppression toward
indigenous communities. We cannot speak of language death without first acknowledging the speakers
and the systematic oppression that indigenous communities continue struggling to resist. In present
time language shifts due to economic incentive of hegemony and the mediating role of language
ideologies are two of the most important causes of language death. Language shift and language
ideologies that ultimately cause language death are current consequences of colonialization. The death
of a language has both of linguistic and cultural consequences to the particular community affected
and to the world s diversity as a whole. Languages serve as carries of cultural knowledge, as identity
and verbal art, hence when a language is lost cultural resources, identity and verbal art are lost. One of
the most important causes of language death is language shifts due to economic incentives of
hegemony. A language shift is when people adopt the language of the hegemonic society replacing
their mother tongue in both their personal and professional lives (Mithum 1998:182). The shift of
language is motivated by the hope for economic prosper as hegemonic languages like English and

Calfee And CAFE Standards
CAFE is an acronym for Corporate Average Fuel Economy. As stated in, Will Corporate Average Fuel
Economy Help, CAFÉ standards became prevalent by Congress in 1975 after the oil crisis of the 1970
s. These standards were proposed in order to help the United States depend less on foreign oil (Sen et
al. 2017, p. 279). The idea of CAFÉ standards does not only help us rely less on foreign oil, but it also
reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Below general information about CAFÉ and the CAFÉ standards
that are current today will be described. As described above, CAFÉ was first introduced after the 1973
oil crisis. Congress needed to find solutions to reduce our reliance on oil imported from other
countries. CAFÉ requires car and light truck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, lightweight cars are not seen as an issue because of the advancements we have made in
technology. However, during the mid 1970 s to 1980 s, consumers were correlating that the rise in
automobile fatalities was correlated to CAFÉ s standards with fuel efficiency. During this time of
concern, it was concluded that better fuel efficiency could be accomplished by technologies that were
available at the time and these technologies would not change the weight of the automobile (Schmidt
2002, pg.468). Technology is always advancing. During the time of safety concerns, people did not
necessarily realize that improved technology would be launched in the years to come (Bezdek and
Wendling 2003, p. 409).
How have CAFÉ standards progressed and what are the requirements for new car models? Starting in
May of 2010, former President Barack Obama, the National Highway Traffic and Safety

Rules for automobiles built in 2017 through 2021 (United States Department of Transportation 2014).
The regulations were aimed towards CAFÉ and Greenhouse Gas emissions for cars and light trucks.

trucks. The only difference is that the heavier trucks are years 2014 to 2018. Cars and light trucks will

benefit of law enforcement must be examined in regard to both the efficiency and efficacy of law

The Funeral Banner Of Lady Dai
The Funeral Banner of Lady Dai has several different symbolisms hidden within the paint and ink on
the sink banner. The symbol hidden within the banner can mean many things it just looked at by
themselves and so many more if looked at as a group instead of alone. The Funeral Banner of Lady
Dai relates to the phenomenon of interconnectedness between China, Korea, and Japan by unifying
these three countries by breaking geographic and language barriers and showing common practices
between them all. China was a big influence on both Japan and Korea, the banner may have also had
an influence on the art produced in both countries.
The Banner of Lady Dai banner was found in Lady Dai s tomb in 1972. The Marquis of Dai died in
186 B.C.E. while the Lady Dai (his wife) and their son both died in 163 B.C.E. The true function of
funeral banners is debatable, so think they have a connection to the afterlife. Funeral Banners were
also thought to be name banners to identify a person during mourning ceremonies, or shrouds to help
soul into the afterlife (McIntire) or attract the spirit of the deceased to their tomb where they were to
spend the rest of eternity in comfort. It is believed that banners like this were carried in front of the
funeral procession, then draped upon the deceased coffin (Gunther).

Analysis Of Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
Richard Bach once proclaimed, There are no mistakes. The events we bring upon ourselves, no matter
how unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what we need to learn; whatever steps we take, they re
necessary to reach the places we ve chosen to go. This idea allegorizes in Fahrenheit 451 by Ray
Bradbury in consequence to Guy Montag s profuse errors that prompt a new outlook on life. Prior to
this newfound consciousness, he was a compliant member of an apathetic society that obliterates
opposition through the restraint of books and, therefore, knowledge. Montag perpetrates many
mistakes of which incite death and destruction eliciting the profound realization that he is living in a
lethargic world and provokes the cognizance of tangible emotions. From these errors, he obtains
erudition permitting him to fathom the importance of expressing true feelings and to enhance the
understanding of his goals and ambitions. Following this path of devastation in order to escape the
void he has been living in, Montag endeavors to alter the desolation encompassing his society through
seeking the refuge of books. Death and destruction in the contemporary world are integral in the
implementation of change as well as the expansion of cognition to halt future wreckage. In spite of the
carnage Montag s course induces, this path remains justifiable in his phlegmatic society exemplifying
the idea that attaining knowledge from remorseful acts allows for the effectuation of change as means

Why Attend Christendom
Why Do I Want to Attend Christendom?
Christendom College offers many compelling reasons that have increased my desire to attend this
great school. Some of the things that I love about my high school are found at Christendom, such as its
challenging, Classical curriculum. I simply loved the classes I was able to attend at the Summer
Program and found that I felt at home in those lectures, which were deeply rooted in our Catholic
faith. The lectures helped us examine their relevance in our own lives and encouraged us to always
seek the truth. I observed that this inspired the whole class to consider the situations and messages in
the themes we discuss in class, such as the value of friendship or how history shapes our identity.
In addition to reflecting on the Classical curriculum, another compelling reason for attending your
school involves the way Christendom will allow me to bring my humble desire to sing and add it to

abundant and seem to never end. This chance to connect, build, and maintain relationships with fellow
peers interested in research and a community is a priceless experience that is very unique to MRC. In
just a few short months, I have actively aimed to attend every event that was offered, soaking in all of
the opportunities that MRC has to offer. While I haven t made it to every event, I do try my best to
find time for my community. Firstly, my favorite event that MRC hosts is MRC tea time, for this is a
great way to meet MRC alumni, converse with the wonderful staff, and share stories with friends from
the fourth and fifth floors, all while drinking warm tea! I truly love this event and I met one of my
great friends there, Milan, and a helpful mentor, Maddie! Because picking favorite MRC events feels
like picking my favorite family members, I am now just going to list some of the amazing events I
have been to. The creativity within MRC is absolutely astonishing! This is evident by all of the fun
events planned by our own members. I have been to an event for building zen gardens, and solving a
murder case, and a game night where there was a karaoke machine. I have watched La La Land with
fourth floor middle Jo and popped my stress away with Crystal and her floor. STEPS encouraged me
to step out of my comfort zone. Community conversations provides an experience to open up to our
peers, an

Realism s Effect on Chekhov and Stanislavsky, and their...
Realism played a huge role in the lives of Anton Chekhov and Konstantin Stanislavsky. Both men
made a huge impact on the world of theatre, and results are still seen today. Elements from Chekhov s
plays have influenced playwrights that came after him, like the works of Tennessee Williams, who
listed that Chekhov had a huge impact on his writing. Stanislavsky s acting system, based on acting
truthfully, inspired many other acting systems that are still used today. Realism was a huge movement
in late 1800s to early 1900s. All art forms were influenced by it. Writers, artists, actors and more
started taking a more simple direction and tried to depict life as it actually was. In visual art it was
common to see ordinary people doing every day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vladimir Nemirovich Danchenko and Konstantin Stanislavsky founded the Moscow Art Theatre on
June 22, 1897, during an 18 hour luncheon at the Slavyanski Bazar (The Stanislavsky Century). The
two had set out to reform Russian theatre and had the common goal in mind to create great art. Before
they set their rules and regulations into place, none officially existed. Actors would show up either
drunk or late and not have their lines learned. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich wanted a place where
there would be discipline and respect and great art, thus the Moscow Art Theatre was born (The
Stanislavsky Century). Konstantin Stanislavsky, himself, also practiced ideas of naturalism. He was a
theatre practitioner and his roles served as actor and director, and he created the first acting method.
He functioned as the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theatre. In A Sourcebook for Naturalist
Theatre, there was a comparative statement to Chekhov and Stanislavsky which read: In addition to
the concept of acting truly , the practical correlative to Chekhov s aim of depicting life as it really is ,
this extract outlines one of the most important keys to Stanislavsky s system: establishing objectives,
which in terms of acting is the equivalent to the naturalists focus on motivation (Innes 54).
Stanislavsky wrote three novels that discuss his acting method; An Actor Prepares, Building a
Character, and Creating a Role. These books are from the perspective of a

  • 2. Case Study Sick Leave Sick Leave In case study 8 Sick Leave, and the cross culture communication is a dilemma because of the differences in work ethics between an employee from the United States working in Japan, and what is expected by the supervisor in Japan. The difference is the fact that Kelly, the Canadian employee, is highly educated in the field of management, and wants to follow employment rules and regulations to the best of her ability, within both her norm as well as what is written in her current employment.. On the other hand, the Supervisor in Japan, Mr. Higashi, he wishes to hold to the loyalty to the company and what is the culture norm, rather than what is in line with Japanese employment rules and regulations. With this scenario the conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Higashi and Kelly. With Mr. Higashi the intangible factor would be his work and cultural ethics when it comes to work. The Japanese are hardworking and very loyal as they tend to stay with one employer for long time and choose not to use their earned vacation time no matter what employment regulations state. Additionally, when a Japanese employee is sick, they use paid time off rather than sick leave, and this has become the norm broadly across the culture. With Kelly, the tangible factor is the fact that she became ill and appropriately notified her supervisor, then expected and wanted to use sick time, as employee regulations clearly outline. This falls within her norm as she learned in the U.S./Canadian as she received her management degree from the Canadian University. When dealing with tangible or intangible factors such as in this scenario, while both are important the tangible factors are more important because such as Kelly working through the JET program, written regulations and employment laws are very important to follow. If they are not, the program may be doomed to fail over time because is regulations are not followed, there could be a strong decline of U.S. / Canadian involvement with ... If your dressed in the latest Jordan s or the best clothes in the mall you are considered cool and are complimented more than someone who cant dress or is considered lame or looked over most of the time. Just because someone doesn t have on a name brand shirt gives another person the right to talk about them the right to talk about someone? People don t understand when people do things like that opens up other doors such as insecurities, bulling, etc. Does expensive clothes make someone better than another? Or does expensive clothes boost ones ego up? I don t believe in someone buying expensive clothes to just to fit in. In this day of age people are very judge mental; especially teens. After a little over a decade since its establishment, Samsung, who was once a small business focusing on exporting perishables is now one of the biggest manufacturing company in the world that revenue of over $167 Billion. From an economic perspective, as technology changes becoming more efficient, it gives other companies the ability to compete in manufacturing the products. As the electronics industry continues to grow, more companies are competing with Apple. As of today, Samsung is one of the largest competitors to Apple. Both companies are trying to win the technology market, especially smartphones since they launched their own line of smartphones Samsung Galaxy in June 2009 and the iPhone in June 2007. One of the reasons Samsung s still in this game of tug of war with Apple is Samsung s capability in manufacturing their own components for the Galaxy smartphones. This gives them a rather strong grasp on cost advantage compared to Apple. Even Apple uses a Samsung manufactured processors, NAND flash and DRAM memory chips since the beginning (Forbes, 2016), which is why we see a rather higher selling price for Apple s iPhone due to their cost to their supplier, Samsung. One way for Apple to win over this is to attract Samsung loyal customers, who are said to be more price conscious, by creating an inexpensive iPhone in a long run like the iPhone 5c that was discontinued at the end of 2015. This country is developed because of it s economy, population, and amount of modern conveniences. Based upon the economy of Great Britain, it is very well developed. It is in the tertiary sector of the economic structure which means that more services are given out than goods, the higher in the structure the more developed a country is. In the United Kingdom, 83.5 percent of everything that is output into the economy are services and only 16.5 percent of the economy is either industry of agriculture which again, proves the fact that the United Kingdom s economy is a part of the third tertiary. The population in the United Kingdom also provides evidence that it is a developed country, the infant mortality rate is about 4.3 deaths/100,000 live births which translates to about .000043 deaths which is a rather low infant mortality rate. It is taken by the elapsed time between the beginning of the application of the stimulant and the beginning of an organism s reaction it. Atoms carry the charge of electricity and when the nerve impulse starts, it flows through the channels in the membrane. This changes the charge to positive from the resting stage to its negative charge. It then carries a nerve impulse through the cell axon into the synapse, causing neurotransmitters to be released into the synaptic cleft. Reaction time is genetically passed down, which demonstrates how improving reaction time could be difficult since it can only be improved by 10 20 percent with exercise or practice. One way to help increase reaction time would be having caffeine in your body because it stimulates adrenaline to be produced and increase improvement of percentage. Neurons are particular cells that transmit signals to the brain and are an important building block of the central nervous system. Neurons have action potential which is caused by ion channels that shut when the membrane potential close the resting potential. It then begins depolarization, which allows sodium ions to produce more membrane potential, allowing more channels to open. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James proclaimed that The only reason for the existence of a novel is that it does attempt to represent reality. Plot was for him but the extension of character. Like most of James s fiction of the 1870s, and the majority of his writing for the rest of his career, Portrait focuses on a group of expatriate Americans in England and Europe. Leisured, cultured, but just a bit bored, Daniel Touchett and his son Ralph are idly passing their time at Daniel s country estate, Gardencourt, but find themselves reenergized when Daniel s all but estranged wife, Lydia, brings with her to England her niece, a beautiful and enthusiastic orphan named Isabel Archer. Isabel is everything these men are not: lively, enthusiastic, and alert, she is a less flirtatious, more thoughtful version of Daisy Miller. But this American Girl, too, has the resistance to convention that both marks the type and makes its fate so problematic; when her Aunt Lydia reproaches her for staying up late to talk to Ralph and his friend, Lord Warburton, Isabel thanks her for informing her of the social prohibition but claims that she wants this knowledge only so as to choose whether to follow it. • 22. Britain s Victory Of The Falklands War Britain s victory in the Falklands War undoubtedly contributed to the Conservative Party s election victory in 1983. However, it should not be considered essential to this triumph. Historians such as Helmut Norpoth have suggested that the Falklands factor significantly increased the popularity of the Thatcher administration and resulted in her re election. Dennis Kavanagh noted the effect on the war on Margaret Thatcher s image and emphasised the importance of this during the election campaign. Nevertheless, the Conservative success in 1983 must be attributed primarily to the pre war circumstances including the poor public perception of the Labour Party following their tenure in office prior to 1979 and Thatcher s social and economic policies. The Conservative victory was not down to a singular event, but a combination of events that all affected her image and her perception by the British electorate. Had Labour been a stronger opponent, the Conservatives may not have won in 1983. The most valid conclusion drawn is that of Peter Riddell; the 1983 election was a result of opposition weaknesses and the dividing role of the Alliance rather than the Falklands factor. The Falklands conflict was, in the opinion of both Thatcher and many historians believed to be a key reason for Thatcher s re election. The fact that the Conservatives had a jump in support of 11 per cent between February and July 1982 showed that the conflict was beneficial to the party, despite initial resistance ... Persuasive Essay On Right To Bear Arms Only this month, 59 were killed and over 500 people were injured during a country music concert in Vegas in what is now known as the deadliest mass shooting in American history. Last year, 49 were killed and 58 were injured in a gay nightclub in Florida. In 2012, a mass shooting in Sandy Hook Elementary School took 27 lives, 20 of them being first graders. The list of these unthinkable and stomach churning acts is quickly turning endless, forcing us to rethink why we truly have the right to bear arms. Many defend the second amendment by claiming we need this right for self defense, which is the most wretched part. When we look at what we have lost compared to what we have earned in this fight to keep the right to bear arms, this privilege does not seem worth the sacrifice of so many lives. In today s world, we do not defense through guns but from them. Our policymakers keep trying to reach a compromise by putting in place certain regulations. Some states require would be gun owners to fulfill a firearms safety course in order to obtain their license. Such training courses, however, even when not required, are very advisable for the would be gun owner, as they ensure that he or she has all the necessary information on liability issues, on safety, and even on care and maintenance of the gun ( How to Get a Gun License 1). This lack of attention illustrates that despite the multiple tragedies that have taken place in our nation, some states do not even require a simple safety course that ensures the safety of our people. Furthermore, it is required that one must pass a background check. The questions asked on the test are the following: *Have you ever been convicted of a felony? *Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence? *Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any other depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance? *Are you a fugitive from justice? *Have you ever been committed to a mental institution? Former President Clinton said this in a speech in in March of 1996. There is an immense controversy about whether a school uniform will help or hinder a student. Most uniforms can be easily altered or added to for the changing of the seasons, which saves time and money from not having to shop the seasons. Along with easy purchase, uniforms also help cut down bullying. Implementing uniforms gives kids a better sense of school pride, in which they care more about the school and each other. For example when Long Beach introduced uniforms in 1995 they received data that showed the in school fights decreased by 38%, suspension rates dropped by 90% and furthermore the overall crime rates dropped by 91%. School uniforms would work in the same way an athletic team uniform would; it would give them a sense of pride and belonging. Like athletic teams, when a team member or student would wear their jersey, or in this case uniform, they would cloak themselves in their school color they would feel obligated to make sure they represent the best for their school to show that they care and they are going to prove how exceptional their school is. A uniform can improve the overall school and also move beyond the school halls and out to the community. • 33. Language Death Essay Main Issues: The way in which our world functions today is a result of colonialization. Language death and linguistic endangerment is woven with colonialization and the history of oppression toward indigenous communities. We cannot speak of language death without first acknowledging the speakers and the systematic oppression that indigenous communities continue struggling to resist. However, during the mid 1970 s to 1980 s, consumers were correlating that the rise in automobile fatalities was correlated to CAFÉ s standards with fuel efficiency. During this time of concern, it was concluded that better fuel efficiency could be accomplished by technologies that were available at the time and these technologies would not change the weight of the automobile (Schmidt 2002, pg.468). Technology is always advancing. During the time of safety concerns, people did not necessarily realize that improved technology would be launched in the years to come (Bezdek and Wendling 2003, p. 409). How have CAFÉ standards progressed and what are the requirements for new car models? Starting in May of 2010, former President Barack Obama, the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), all administered Final Rules for automobiles built in 2017 through 2021 (United States Department of Transportation 2014). The regulations were aimed towards CAFÉ and Greenhouse Gas emissions for cars and light trucks.
