The Definition Of Theatre In The 18th And 19th Century
The word Theatre originates from the Greek word theatron, which means seeing place, therefore
describing theatre as a place where you go see things. There are 2 types of definitions for Theatre;
the hardware and the software . The hardware being definitions like indicating where films are
shown or metaphorically refers to a place where wars and surgeries occur like theatreof operations
The software definition of theatre describes the activity involved in theatre like the group of people
that compose plays.
The theatre building used to be small open spaces where the people performed and spectators
watched. As it grew in popularity, theatres needed to be remodeled and made big enough to sit
everyone. The audience would be located would be in an elevated area and the actors below.
Roman theatres were elaborate and embellished with marble carvings and gilded columns.
Theaters built in the 18th and 19th century are still open and operating today. Theatres are
fundamental to urban architecture as well as to contemporary life. Theatre involves a very large
group of people working together on a single performance. These groups can be called companies
or troupes that tour cities to present a play. These companies are self contained production units
capable of writing, preparing and presenting works to a point where some have become legendary,
like the Lord Chamberlain s Men of London, which Shakespeare was a part of.
Theatre is also the occupation of its practitioners.

The Pharmaceutical Industry And Society
Abstract
The dependency of profits to promote sales to please shareholders and research and development of
new products seem to be the mindset of the pharmaceutical industry. It is without question that the
pharmaceutical companies only care about making a profit more than they do to help the people of
the United States. Pharmaceutical companies and doctors that represent them are only acting in
their own best interest; patients are the ones who are suffering the most. With that, new information
being produced it is not always being fully disclosed in the fine print, or the other option to the
drugs they take, this just only helps fuel business s.

Main concern of Pharmaceutical Industry Marketing and priorities of the pharmaceutical industry
have been a dilemma for years. Scare mongering has been increased on the importance of drugs
(Shah, 2010). For example, executives at Mylan, a pharmaceutical company that owns Epipen,
reportedly reaped in nearly three hundred million in compensation from 2011 to 2015 (Tuttle,
2016). Heather Bresch, the CEO of Mylan, was accused of jacking up the price by 600%; her
response was to blame the broken health system , Obamacare, and the rise of high deductible
health insurance plan. But should this be the case to do these to millions of families who can
barely afford something that take thirty dollars to make and jack the price up to seven hundred
dollars? We live in a greedy nation that is only there to take from one another. When people see this
you can only think of how the pharmaceuticals being an industry it basically prioritizes that revenue
comes before the needs and cures to the human society.
Advertizing, only help boost with sales, with the previous example it was noted that it was
encouraged that the states to be required to purchase these Epipen s to fight life threatening
allergic reactions. It so happens to be that the CEO of Mylan, mother was on the National School
Boards during these years. It also does not hurt to have your dad as the

A Brief Note On Porsche s Engine Downsizing
Porsche s Engine Downsizing
There are more than one billion cars in the world right now and this number is increasing
everyday due to the demand of the cars. Most of the cars in the world have big engines right
now. What a big engine means is the eight cylinder V8, ten cylinder V10, or twelve cylinder V12
engines. Those types of engines have been used for many years in the car industry. All the car
manufacturers prefer to use those engines because people like them and thinking that more
cylinder means more power. For many years those car manufacturers have not realized one thing
that big engines emission rates are really bad and those engines are actually creating tons of carbon
monoxide because they have more cylinders. Basically more ... Show more content on

Porsche started to downsize their engines to fit their engine emission rates to the new rules. By that
move, Porsche was one of the first sports car manufacturer that started to downsize their engines.
Downsizing the engine mean is actually pretty simple. They are actually taking 4.8 liter, eight
cylinder V8 engine and changing it with the 3.6 liter, six cylinder V6 engine. When they are
making the engine smaller, they are also adding that engine a turbocharger to make it much
powerful as the bigger engine. (Turbocharger is helping the engine to get more air to the pistons
to increase it is performance) Most of the Porsche customers thought bigger engines were stronger
and it makes the car go faster. Actually, it is not true because when they add turbochargers to the
engine, it makes the car much powerful as the bigger engines. Another thing about the downsizing
the engine is the fact that, when the manufacturer downsizes the engine they are actually making
the car lighter. When a car becomes lighter, it is actually goes faster than the previous models
because it has much power as the old model, but it is lighter. However in order to prove their
small engines performance to their customers, in 2014 Porsche started to compete in the FIA WEC
24 hour races to test their new downsized engines to see their performance and reliability in long
endurance races.

Compare and contrast the Five kingdom and three domain classification system
Classification is the method used by scientists to order living organisms. All species have a
unique classification that results in a binomial name. classification is used to make it easier for
different species to be identified by scientists. The current system, the Three Domain System ,
groups organisms primarily based on differences in ribosomal RNA structure. Ribosomal RNA is
a molecular building block for ribosomes . Under this system, organisms are classified into three
domains and six kingdoms . The domains are Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukarya. The kingdoms are

Induction By David Hume
Induction is a form of reasoning in which the premises of an argument support the conclusion,
David Hume (1711 1776), in his book A Treatise of Human Nature of induction, wrote; instances
of which we have had no experience resemble those of which we have had experience (pp. 89) [1].
Adamson (1999) wrote that evidence shows that induction was first scrutinised in the late 17th and
early 18th century, when contemporary views of the world were questioned, near the end of the
scientific revolution [2]. Chalmers (1999), continues, stating that the recognition of the problem of
induction was the starting point for a sceptical attack of a large domain of accepted beliefs and
opinions that are ordinarily taken to be knowledge , showing the impact philosophical questioning
had on a diverse range of belief systems [3]. David Hume is recognised as one of the first
philosophers to question the validity of induction, and the father of The Problem of Induction , a
lasting philosophical question. He began by doubting the ability and validity of a posteriori
knowledge to demonstrate causality. Hume speculated whether induction provides reliable
evidence, and whether it is rational for us to believe inductive knowledge if the basis is not
objective, and whether we can rationally justify beliefs that stem from the unobserved (Hume, pp.
193 4) [4], a rational being would not trust conclusions drawn from the uncertain. Hume
acknowledges that humans instinctively use induction, through

The Modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Essay
Introduction
The modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was established by the King Abdulaziz bin Abdelrahman
Al Saud in 1932 (Al Turaiqi, 2008; Albassam, 2011; BTI, 2012; Hamzawy, 2006; Peterson, 1984;
UN, 2004). Saudi is a big country with 13 provinces (mintaqah) and 1,600, 000 km2 (Albassam,
2011; UN, 2004). Saudi has the largest reserves of oil in the world (UN, 2004). The political
system in Saudi is Monarchy since the day of Unification of the Kingdom (23 September, 1932)
(Al Turaiqi, 2008; Albassam, 2011; BTI, 2012; Chatham, 2011; Hamzawy, 2006; Matthes, Otto,

Moreover, Saudi legal system is mainly based on Quran and Sunnah, however daily life
administration matters are managed by promulgate regulations (Matthes, et al., 2007; UN, 2004).
The full draft of all administrative regulations (called Nizam) was compiled first during the days
of King Fahd in 1992 (Al Turaiqi, 2008; Albassam, 2011; UN, 2004). King Fahd with those
regulations started to establish a state with written and clear laws that are necessary to build a
modern country. Political System of Saudi Arabiaconsists of judicial authority, executive authority
and
Organizational authority (Hamzawy, 2006; Matthes, et al., 2007). Traditionally, the king has the
executive and legislative authorities; this means that the king has judicial power in the land (Al
Turaiqi, 2008; Albassam, 2011; Matthes, et al., 2007). The king s power is controlled by
Islamic law, seeking consensus among royal family members, religious leaders, and the leaders
of important tribal families (Al Turaiqi, 2008; Matthes, et al., 2007; Peterson, 1984; UN, 2004).
However Saudi since 1990s started to add some modern touches to its political system to get along
with the economic and social changes in the kingdom (Albassam, 2011; Peterson, 1984). The
major components of Saudi political are listed in the study of (Peterson, 1984) as follows:

Court cases that led to the exclusionary rule. According to Encyclopedia Britannica the

Origins Of Today s Music
Origins of Today s Music While blues and jazz are musically different, they play a similar role in
the in the musical genres that is heard today. Today, music is divided into many genres such as
hip hop, easy listening, country, rock and roll or classic rock, etc. Pure blues or jazz is hardly
thought of, as those two genres are not heard as often in today s music. The purpose of this essay is
to compare and contrast the difference between bluesand jazzmusic. Blues and jazz are musical
genres, or styles, which are considered American musical traditions. Blues and jazz are related
because the roots of jazz are from the blues and they both originated from the American south,
invented and practiced by African Americans. Although they are related, they have distinct
differences, both culturally and musically. These two genres still impact the music that is heard
today, and the confusion of telling the two apart is because of the numerous musical crossovers that
artists do these days.
Cultural Differences Blues Blues developed in the working fields of Georgia, the Carolinas,
Texas, and the Mississippi delta region of the south, specifically southern Mississippi. In an
article, Morgan Freeman, actor and owner of Ground Zero Blues Club, was quoted saying
People working those cotton fields, they would sing, we call it field holler . You got two or three
hundred people out across the fields answering the call, you know, it s like call and response. It s a

Poets Explore the Theme of Death in Educating for Leisure,...
Structural techniques play a huge role in many poems due to the fact that structure sometimes
reflects what is happening in the poem. This can clearly be seen with all the poems, in Remember
and Do not go gentle into that good night a strict, tight and ridged structure and this helps reinforce
the meaning that the poets are trying to portray. With Do not go gentle the structure of the poem in
some respects contrasts what is actually happening with Dylan Thomas, with father dying; his head
is all over the place but the structure is tight and strict. Villanelles are very traditional strict
structures and the message that is portrayed through Do not go gentle contrasts it as it is an
untraditional message. In addition to this the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though it is not evident we could interpret that the mother in the poem is becoming
hysterical and agitated and due to the fact that her she needs to Carefully part it . This is
because the child is, as we find out later on, is dying. As for the readers, they are anxious due to
the fact that Chinua Achebe slowly drip feeds information to the reader allowing many different
interpretations and events to evolve in the readers mind. As for E for L the lack of strict and
ridged structure and the quick evolution of the structure in some aspects mimic the thought
process of the character within the poem. The character within the poem is psychotic and his
mind is all over the place j, on top of that his killing tendencies and his thirst for murder quickly
evolves from a fly to a goldfish to a human just like structure quickly evolves. This lack of strict
poetic structure allows for the poet to get the readers full attention and for them to grasp the
reader and get their message about death across in the most effective way possible. Finally In The
man he killed and Havisham a cyclical structure is used and this helps reinforce the meaning that
the poet is trying to portray. With The man he killed the structure reinforces the dilemma that the
character is facing as he has killed a man; his head is all over the place but the structure is tight and
traditional and this can be seen with the ABAB rhyme scheme. In addition to this the poem

Infield Training History
Competitive baseball became popular in the United States in the mid 1800s and is now one of
the leading sports in America. With the design of the field and the job of the players, this sport s
positions primarily make up a defensive team. During the game, it becomes a one man offense for
each hitter. Overall, defensive positions can be broken up into 3 different types: the battery,
infielders, and outfielders. The battery consists of the pitcher and catcher, their job is to coordinate
the pitch to ensure a strike or miss for the batter. The infielders consist of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd basemen,
and shortstop. The first baseman should excel in being able to stretch/reach for the catch so that the
opponent gets out. Second and Shortstop tend to get... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Safety nets must be installed as close as practicable under the walking/working surface on which
employees are working and never more than 30 feet below such levels. Nets found to be
defective are prohibited from use. Safety nets are required to be inspected at least weekly for
wear, damage, and other deterioration particularly if debris has found its way onto the net. Any
items that have fallen on to the net will be removed as soon as possible but no later than the end of
the workshift. The maximum size of each netting opening will not exceed thirty six square inches
and will not be limited to six inches or less on any given side. Openings will be measured center

The Harm in Low Carb Diets
Low carb diets are basically anti carbohydrates diets. Low carb diets make you eat fewer carbs
than most doctors would suggest. While the experts recommend that adults get about half of
their calories from carbs, low carb diet limits the eating of carb to10 percent of daily calories
consumed. Before going anti carb, lets know what they are. Carbs are very important nutrients
in food. They are the body s main energy source, supplying energy for everyday activities and
making sure everything from your muscles to brain is working properly. Not all carbs are
nutritious. Good ones are processed and are full of vitamins and minerals, for example: whole
grain pasta and bread, veggies, and fruit. Bad ones come from foods like white bread and sugary
sweets, which are full of calories and don t have a lot of nutritional value. There are many many
low carb diets. the most popular ones include Atkins, Dukan, Eco Atkins, Medifast, the Paelo and
the South beach diet. In my opinion the Atkins diet is the most popular because of it results:

Essay on The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms was enacted under the Pierre Trudeau government

Canadian Constitution, Canadians were not only given an explicit definition of their rights, but the

The legislative branch is responsible for enacting laws, and the executive branch is responsible for
implementing laws. In Canada, the executive branch is represented by the Prime Minister and his

Commons. According to James Kelly, With the enhanced role of the Department of Justice and the
absence of parliamentary counterweights to constitutional scrutiny, Charter dialogue is dominated
by the cabinet to the exclusion of Parliament (103). The cabinet s decision to govern with the

Department of Justice Act, the minister of justice must certify that all bills being introduced to

introduction into the House of Commons, and not in actuality by Parliament. Kelly states, While
the Department of Justice is providing an authoritative statement, it is simply an opinion that the

Tarantino captures a great sense of the racial stereotyping in this time period. He has managed to
push across the majority of stereotypes that we had read about in the America on Film textbook and
also what we have heard in history lessons. Using Jamie Foxx as a Black Buck Tarantino shows
the audience about the trouble of racial slurs that get thrown at him by white people and giving
the position that he is in (as Django) he has to become the hyper masculine African American
and quickly builds up confidence to fight back. For example, when Django and Schultz ride into
a town on horseback the white people in the street begin to stare, some stop mid sentence is
shock and others speak their mind by saying that s a nigger on a horse . To get this point across
to the viewers the camera has a few seconds of each face of the white folk to emphasize the
shock. Tarantino uses other actors to dress and act how black people would of acted at that time
and how they obeyed the white race. About half way through the film we are introduced to another

(Boggs Petrie p. 9) One aspect of eliminating impartiality is to view a film in its proper
environment. Try selecting an environment that is attractive and comfortable; preferably a theater
with modern stadium seating and the upmost quality projection and audio sound equipment. As
comfort and sound plays an immense role in how well we appreciate an experience. While viewing
films try to restrain your comments and thoughts. Take mental notes and discuss them at a later
time with others who shared your cinematic journey. As restraining your comments and thoughts
avoid passing bias and negative viewpoint onto others.
The basic approach to analyzing films as a whole is to keep in mind that when we are watching a
film we cannot freeze for analysis. We have to concentrate on the interactions of image, sound, and

Addiction And Family Addiction
United States (US) has the highest rate of substance use among all developed countries (Johnson
Vaderhoef, 2016). Fifty percent of individuals living in the US has the comorbid mental illness
(Johnson Vaderhoef, 2016). Approximately two million people have admitted annually to inpatient
treatment centers in the United States (Johnson Vanderhoef, 2016).
Addiction includes much more than the neurobiology of the brain. Genetic factors have found in
about half the patients with addiction (American Society of Addiction Medicine [ASAM], 2011).
Factors include biological deficit, repeated drug use, cognitive and affective distortions that impairs
perceptions, problems with interpersonal relationships, challenged to coping skills, and co
occurring of other psychiatric disorders (ASAM, 2011). Addiction characterized by the inability to
consistently abstain, impairment in behavior control, craving, diminished recognition of significant
problems, and dysfunctional emotional response (ASAM, 2011). Cognitive changes also occur that
includes preoccupation with substance and blaming problems on other factors in life rather due to
addiction (ASAM, 2011). Working with outpatient and adult and crisis stabilization units in last two
semesters has made me realize that Addiction is more of a family illness than the individual
disease. Each in the addiction family takes on a special role to survive the family disease of
addiction. One of the families I have followed a South Asian family

Teleological And Deontological Analysis
One might ask, what makes an action ethical? Why some people think that product placement in
movies is a considerably ethical phenomena, while others find it unethical and unacceptable.
According to Tsalikis Fritzsche, (1989, p, 696), ethics is an inquiry into the nature and grounds of
morality where moralitymeans moral judgments, standards, and rules of conduct (Tsalikis,
Fritzsche, 1989, p, 696). In other words, ethics, which is a discipline that deals with what true and
false is, is defined as a system of determined theory or moral values (Shea, 1988). Likewise an
ethical evaluation is based on moral philosophy(Reidenbach Robin, 1990). Therefore, an ethical
decision depends on individual moral values, and the judgment of business activity is influenced by
his/her moral philosophy (Wang, 2012).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The major difference between these two theories is that, deontological theories focus on the
specific actions or behaviours of an individual, while teleological theories focus on the
consequences of those actions or behaviours (Hunt Vitell, 1986). Both of these two streams have
several sub streams, however, the following sections will seek to examine only two of them since
researchers (e.g. Beauchamp Bowie, 1979; Murphy Laczniak, 1981) categorise major moral
philosophies into the two major types of deontology and teleology, including utilitarianism (Vitell et
al., 2001). These two main ethical systems will then be discussed in a context of product placement
in order to give a theoretical foundation for understanding the subsequent

To be most effective, the programs must aim to change those who want to change, for those are
the people who will change (or have a good chance). Inmates, when taught to be productive, are
likely to develop the self esteem essential to a normal, integrated personality (Szumski 21). These
kinds of programs would provide essential skills, development of healthy habits, and replace the
sense of hopelessness (Szumski 21) that many inmates have. Most of America s correctional
institutions lack programs of criminal rehabilitation. One can predict that a prisoner, after many
years of incarceration without being educated, will have many more disadvantages upon their
release back into society.
One of the major sociological theories of delinquency is differential association (Doob 169). The
idea is that some people have learned their ways from undesirable people who they were forced to
associate with and that this association warps their thinking and social attitudes. Differential
association theory emphasizes that a person is more likely to become a criminal if the people who
have the greatest influence upon them are criminals (Doob 169). In addition, sending a deviant
person, who has been associated with criminal influences, to prison would just make the problem
worse (Fox 61). Group counseling, group interaction, and other kinds of group activities can
provide a corrective, positive experience that might

What Is The Theme Of Touching The Void
Touching the void by Joe Simpson is a vivid, intense and powerful story of a horrifying
adventure in the Peruvian Andes. Two experienced climbers, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, set
out to conquer the mountain Siula Grande. They do indeed achieve their aim, but disaster strikes
on the way down and Simon has to make an impossible decision should he cut the rope holding
Joe, thereby saving his own life, or should he stay attached, leading to certain death for both of
them? They face an almost impossible journey, where their survival instinct and absolute
courage, triumph the human spirit over the power of mother nature s battle. Alpine Style
climbing can be very dangerous and is also the style Joe and Simon used. This means carrying
all of one s food, shelter, equipment, etc. climbing up the mountain. The novel as a whole
demonstrates survival, because it s all about a man who had the extraordinary ability of human
nature to survive, physically and mentally. When Joe was in the crevasse, he was trying to find a
way out but he couldn t. He stated, There was no going back now, yet inside I was screaming to
stop. This shows that even if he didn t want to, Joe would do anything he possibly can to survive.
Also, the word screaming astonishing, strong word and really shows what a bad situation Joe was
in and how close he was to giving up. Later,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Use Of Steam As A Thing Of The Past And Many Schools...
Next I asked, The acronym STEM is quickly becoming a thing of the past and many schools,
including William Henry, are adopting and transitioning to STEAM focused curriculums and
programs. How is STEAM being used at William Henry? Giddens responded, The A stands for
arts, and it being integrated into the school program. He further stated, For a time, arts were for
gifted students only. Now, all students have an opportunity to have some part of their school
experience geared to some form of the arts. Giddens was also pleased to inform us that William
Henry was recently recognized as a Superstars in Educationschool for its arts programs.
Roblen (2016) states the acronym STEM shorthand for science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics has quickly taken hold in education policy circles, but some experts in the arts
community and beyond suggest it may be missing another initial toward making the combination
more powerful. The idea? Move from STEM to STEAM, with an A for the arts. Although it seems a
stretch to imagine STEM will be replaced in education parlance, momentum appears to be mounting
to explore ways that the intersection of the arts with the STEM fields can enhance student
engagement and learning, and even help unlock creative thinking and innovation.
One advocate of the STEM to STEAM push is Harvey Seifter, the director of the Art of Science
Learning, a project financed by an NSF grant that organized three conferences last spring in

China s Effect On Child Labor
Imagine a twelve year old child getting up every morning going to work in a factory instead of
going to school to get an education. Yes this is the reality in China for many young children.
While here is the US many children at the age of 12 are in elementary school, children in China
are working in factory industries making toys and other goods to export out to the US and other
countries. For years, China has engaged in the use of child labor, wagelevels below international
standards, and unsafe ergonomic conditions.
Some facts about China is that they are a communist country and currently the president of China
is Xi Jinping. They have the largest population of people in the world with more than 1.3 billion
people. There was a one child policy per couple in effect and that policy has recently been
amended. A few of their major cities like Dogguan, and Tianjin have been found guilty of child
labor abuse (Asianhistory.About, 2014).
China entered the WTO in December 2001. It had been a long process of negations with the
WTO formerly the GATT. For China this was a big step. The process took about 15 years before
China was accessioned into the WTO. According to an article Free trade it took this long mainly
due to getting the country s politics and policy making process to produce conditions that would
allow them to submit a bid into the WTO and eventually become part of the WTO (Harold, 2008).
Once China became part of the WTO they have tremendous economic growth.

Essay about Lowering Population In India And South Asia
Lowering Population in India and South Asia
The problem of overpopulation exists nearly everywhere, and if it does not currently exist, it will
in the near future. People are having several children, and that is greatly exceeding the death rate.
This problem is especially apparent in South Asia, and it is causing several problems such as
famine, epidemic, overcrowding, etc.
The country of India is in dire need of aid in the decreasing of their population. There are
approximately 25 births for each 9 deaths. That is nearly a 1.58% increase in population. The

would solely depend on deaths to decrease the population. To enforce the law, strict punishments
including required military service for the father and the new son or large fines can be created. But
limiting the amount of children allowed by law may seem kind of harsh. There are still other
methods of lowering surface population in India.
The Country of India has a GDP of 1.8 trillion dollars. A new tax dubbed, quot; The population tax

I Hate Reading
I hate reading. This mantra ran through my head with the bitter intensity of a six year old s anger.
I could be watching the crackling fireplace with imagined fairies that darted through the flame and
lived in houses made of burning wood. I could be climbing the trees with branches that stretched
twig fingers toward the endless sky. I could normally be doing a myriad of different possibilities,
but not today.
My mother claimed I needed to learn to read before second grade began, and trapped me in is a
single activity. Instead of doing my favored activities I compliantly allowed the rough carpet to

spill from my eyes, lost in a sea of letters with waves of words battering me from all sides.
However, I blinked and tentatively pressed my lips into the hum of a m . I searched the depths of
my mind for the meaning of the next letter, letting the hum trail into eternity. Once again, I
identified the letter with time and opened my mouth to the sound of an a . Instinctively, I looked

The Importance Of Cathedrals In David Macaulay s Cathedral
Stories about architecture are stories about people, said David Macaulay, author of Cathedral (4).
The intention of cathedrals was to draw people, and in turn inspire those who came to pray, learn,
and worship (Macaulay, Cathedral 4). Cathedrals remain inspirational in their enormous scale and
overpowering beauty, and that these places of worship are still standing after many centuries show
a level of determination and integrity in those that built the edifices (Macaulay, Cathedral4).
Architect Vitruvius wrote, All the buildings have two components: The building itself and an idea
that its architecture tried to express (McNamara 6). People build churches because they believed
in something (McNamara 6). In David Macaulay s book, Built to Last, he says the mindset behind
building cathedrals was that of honor and dedication. Macaulay s research noted that, The new
cathedral would be built to the glory of God, and it mattered little that it might take more than one
hundred years to construct it (Macaulay, Built to Last 98). However, there is more to cathedrals
than just building something grand and beautiful to honor God. Churches and cathedrals were built
to be packed with meaning (Taylor 1), and were used to illustrate key points of Christian teaching
through the use of imagery (Taylor 5). Cathedrals were a place to immerse individuals in worship.
Religious parents encourage their children to pray, take them to churchand to religious events

Intonation During Casual Speech Productions
Intonation during casual speech productions can be observed at the discourse level using auditory
analysis (Chun, 2002). In practice, speakers can utilise falling or rising intonations to represent
various speech realisations such as statements, commands and/or explanations (Cruttendon, 1981).
Speakers intonation choice may be situation specific and used as an entity of expression to generate
meaning within particular groups of words (Chun, 2002). Interpretations of speakers speech style
using statistical analyses have been the main focus in previous literatures, providing fruitful
evidence on both pitch and linguistic variation and the relations to a more positive or negative
connotation within languages. Henton (1989) demonstrated that the pitch level in linguistic
variation could carry underlying connotations (positive or negative) such that in male speech, if
expressed with low pitch, rumbling, under expressive and monotonous, can be expressive of a more
negative connotation within the speech context. Subsequent studies addressed speakers abilities to
accommodate sociophonetic speech to produce variants that are more similarly associated with the
social characteristics of the audience (Bell, 1984), or a referee (Hay, Jannedy Mendoza Denton,
1999). Hay et al., (1999) attempted to demonstrate the prevalence of an interplay between speech
style and the ethnic background of a referee by examining Oprah Winfrey s speech tendencies to
monophthongise the diphthong /Г¦/.

world. As civilizations rise and fall, cultures combine and change; and with that, new music and
musical instruments are brought into existence. From each corner of the world and from all time
periods, music has grown. The places that music has dramatically developed the most are in China,
Europe, and America. Musical instruments in these locations have gone through a musical
revolution and have eventually become what we know so well today. China One of the earliest
locations that musical instruments were created and developed was China. Many of the
instruments during this period (500 1100 A.D.) that were being made were classified as zithers of
idiophones. Zithers are very similar to guitars since both share the quality of having strings, but do
not have a neck. Idiophones are instruments where the body itself vibrates to create the sound much
like modern day percussion instruments. These types of instruments were brought into being by the
beliefs and teachings of people like Confucius, Mencius, and Laozi. These men believed that music
was an essential part of character and community and helped the creation of new instruments (1).
Many different styles of instruments came out of this time period. Instruments such as the Guqin,
Xiao flute, Sanxian, and Pipa were all created and modified with the rise of a style of music
Nanguan. Nanguan was a style of Chinese classical

What Is The Great Irish Potato Famine
The text under consideration is a letter written by Mr Nicholas Cummins, a magistrate of Cork,
on 17 December 1846 imploring the Duke of Wellington to be aware of the precarious conditions
in which Irish people are living and to start acting. This period of mass starvation is mostly known
and called as The Great Irish PotatoFamine .
In line with the previous we could say therefore that this text is first addressed to the Duke of
Wellington by taking advantage of his Irish origins but also keeping in mind that he was an
influential person politically speaking. And secondly, this letter is also addressed to the British
nation in general, since Mr Nicholas Cummins himself sent a copy of the letter to The Times which
was published none other than on 24 December which is Christmas Eve.
It is important to say that the text to deal with is a literary journalistic one since it is letter what is
being analysed but also this letter was in newspapers to let the whole British nation ... Show more

This period is also known as The Great Hunger or The Irish Potato Famine and began in 1845
and lasted for six years. By looking at the names used to designate this period it is easy to know
in a superficial way what happened, a great hunger. But also the word Potato gives us some clues
as by the 1800s, the potato had become the staple crop in the poorest regions and as this
vegetable is rich in protein, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins, it is possible to stay healthy on
a diet of potatoes alone . By autumn, the potatoes were ready to be harvested and eaten during the
long winter into the spring and early summer. This system worked year after year until a fungus
appeared on potato plants which caused blight spread throughout the fields by cool breezes. In
1845 only one third of the crop was lost, but in 1846 the fungus reappeared and the failure of the
potato harvest was near

Mmwr Hepatitis B
MMWR Paper on Hepatitis B
Microbiology 212 A
April 27, 2012
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus that affects the liver and belongs to the Hepadnaviridae
group (Takkenberg, Weegink, Zaaijer, amp; Reesink, 2010). According to an article in Vox
Sanguines, an international journal of transfusion medicine, (Takkenberg, Weegink, Zaaijer, amp;
Reesink, 2010) about 400 million people worldwide are chronically infected with HBV, and 2
billion people have serological evidence of past or present HBV infection . HBV, formerly known
as serum hepatitis (Huether amp; McCance, 2008), has eight genotypes (A H) with genotype D
being associated with viral or acute hepatitis B and prevalent mainly in Europe, North Africa, and
the United States ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking at the data provided by CDC (Department of Health and Human Services, 2011) during
2010 2011 there is an average incidence of HBV of 8 (per 10 million people) in 2010 and 6 (per
10 million people) in 2011 (appendix C). This decrease of 2 (per 10 million people) from 2010
2011 may just be a coincidence and further analysis of data over a larger period of time would be
needed. The decrease of 2 persons may not seem like a lot; however with continued education,
vaccination, and awareness of prevention, this could indeed signify a downward trend of acute
HBV. The trend of occurrence over the course of each year, 2010 and 2011, shows a steady
increase without any major spike or deviations (appendix A amp; B). With the transmission of
HBV being mainly from drug use and exchange of fluids between infected individuals (sexually),
there is no factor that should cause a spike. Continuing preventative measures will promote
lowering the incidence of occurrence, however until a cure is found HBV will still register a
minimal number of cases a year.

Incidence Rates Of Breast Cancer
Incidence rates of breast cancer are rising and mortality rates are proportionally high in Arab
countries compared to rates in developed countries. The common late diagnosis among Arab
women has been related to the low participation rates of Arab women in breast cancer screening
activities (Soskolne et al., 2007).
Attention has been paid to barriers and facilitators related to breast cancer screening to develop
culturally appropriate and effective interventions (Donnelly et al., 2011). It is recognized that
personal, religious, environmental, social, and economic factors influence participation in
screening programs and other screening activities (Soskolne et al., 2007).
So factors affecting Breast Cancer Screening can be classified as following:
1 Factors related to the subject.
2 Factors related to health care system.
Factors related to the subject:
1.Age:
The elderly patients faced considerably more barriers compared with younger women. Screening
elderly women significantly is less often than younger women, regardless of family history of
breast cancer (Weinberger et al., 1991).
Age influenced potential attendance was 67% of those aged 65 69 who accept breast cancer
screening compared with 27% of those aged 80 and over (Edwards and Jones, 2000).
Despite the well publicized benefits of screening, about one third of US women aged 40 and older
report having no recent mammogram and this proportion varies widely by state. After increasing
for 25 years, screening

Low Voter Turnout In The United States
2014 Midterm Elections Low Voter Turnout
Essentially, vigorous voter turnout is very paramount to a healthy economy. In most cases, low
turnout is attributed to low participation in political issues and the misguided notion that voting in
one candidate will have less impact on public policy. In the United States, voter participation keeps
on fluctuating which has been an area of concern especially in midterm elections. More specifically,
the 2014 midterm election reported the lowest voter participation in a period of more than seven
decades. This paper delves into analyzing the reasons for the low voter turnout in 2014 midterm
elections in the United States. The paper will also provide recommendations on how voter turnout
may be increased in the 2016 general elections.
The 2014 midterm voter turnout was considerably low owing to a number of reasons. One possible
reason attributed to the low voter turnout is disillusionment with the leading party. Data collected
from exit polls indicated that about 54 percent of citizens were opposed to President Barack
Obama performance as the president(Ching, 2014). Further, 65% of them viewed the country as
headed towards the wrong direction. Most voters were dissatisfied with the Republicans leaders and
lacked confidence in the government to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be meant to give a conviction to the potential voters that they are indeed different and
they can provide practical solutions. It is also the responsibility of the Americans to oppose voter
suppression attempts among other aspects. This would be through demanding an automatic voter
registration. Furthermore, voters should pressure the candidates to put forward visions that are of
benefit to the middle and the lower class. Practically, people would participate in politics more in
politics if they feel that the government plays a more beneficial role in their lives(Lerner,

Idiotism In The Book Thief
Rudy Steiner: A Dual Threat
In one of the cruelest twists in Markus Zusak s extraordinary and emotional book, The Book
Thief, the fictional city of Molching, Germany is bombed. As bombs rain down onto Himmel
Street, Zusak effectively kills off many important characters to dramatically conclude his novel.
One of those characters is illustrated as a lemon haired (267) teenager by the name of Rudy
Steiner. Rudy is arguably the most fascinating and intriguing person in The Book Thief largely
due to the complexity of his actions. He is a perfect example of one of the novel s themes: the
dual nature of humans. Rudy is an intelligent boy who purposefully makes the most idiotic
decisions, a goal setter who deliberately fails at the brink of success, and a thief possessing one
of the biggest hearts a young boy could possess. Although Rudy is a very bright individual, he is
as capable of making foolish mistakes as any other person, displaying a dual nature. Take for
example his fate tempting adventure in Mamer s Grocery Store, during the chapter Three Acts of
Stupidity by Rudy Steiner, where he masterfully weaves through a line of shoppers attempting to
buy potatoes, almost escaping notice. As he reaches the front, he seizes the largest potato of all
which is unfortunately being eyed by many other hungry Germans. Almost immediately, Rudy is
surrounded by the other customers and restrained by the grocer, Thomas Mamer, who threatens to
call the police. The situation is looking bleak for Rudy until he is struck by a stroke of genius.
Spying in the crowd Herr Link, one of his schoolteachers, Rudy urges him to convince the
shopkeeper how poor he is. Herr Link recognizes Rudy s dire situation and aids him in escaping
the grocery store without any serious repercussions (293 299). Rudy s narrow escape exemplifies
a major part of his dual nature. His belief that he can steal the most magnificent potato from a
grocer and a crowd of hungry Germans is insane. However, his quick thinking shows just how
clever he can be.
Although his aforementioned theft attempt was unwise, Rudy s other act of stupidity was blatantly
intentional. While attending Hitler YouthMeetings, he comes to dislike the leader of his area Hitler

The Ideal Leader Of A Business Situation Essay
I am an ESTJ and some might say this personality is the ideal leader in a business situation,
according to 16 Personalities, (n.d.). ESTJs relish bringing people together and always work hard.
Additionally, ESTJs are model citizens and prefer to live in a factual, orderly world.
At work ESTJs are unperturbed by complicated tasks and with their great organizational skills
whittle down the most monumental tasks, making them appear to be easy. All the while, fulfilling
promises along the way. Moreover, ESTJs will not be caught with their heads in the clouds
dreaming, they live in a concrete world of today and have keen insight of tasks ahead. Aggressive
and demanding, ESTJs need to be mindful of others needs and not be over critical and too logical
when in tense emotionally charged situations.
The exact opposite of an ESTJ would be an INFP, which according to 16 Personalities, (n.d.) only
exists in 4% of the population. INFPs are purists and diplomatic with only the best of intentions and
are not motivated by rewards or punishment. This personality type is very symbolic and intuitive
and spawns many actors, writers and poets.
INFPs tend to have a close circle of friends and being so virtuous might lead to them to isolation
from others that cannot understand this idyllic motivation. INFPs will think on a higher plane than
an ESTJ which might cause irritation if the two work together, subsequently, the ESTJ might seek
to finish the task while the INFP is still looking for

Elements Of Reasoning And Reasoning
The elements of reasoning were created to make people aware of their personal thoughts, as well as
other people. These elements include: purpose, point of view, assumptions, implications, data,
inferences, concepts, solve a problem (Paul, Elder, 2012, pg.68). No element is more important
than the other for reasoningand they all work together. Elements of reasoning are connected to the
art of critical thinking. Critical thinking has been defined many ways and is often described in
association with problem solving and decision making (Lovelace, Eggers, Dyck, 2016, p. 101).
Problem solving skills works together with reasoning. Reasoning is purposeful in humans in order
to reach inferences for justifiable conclusions that are at hand. According to Paul and Elder (2012),

Endocrine Extraordinary Sample
Sample A0
The urine sample provided was clear and yellow with no frothing indicating that there was little
or no protein in the urine. The sample contained no cells or crystals but did contain a small
number of hyaline casts. The lack of cells indicates the filtration membrane is at least partially
intact, the casts are not necessarily associated with pathology and are more likely due to exercise
or dehydration although can be due to renal failure (Serafini Cessi, Malagolini and Cavallone
2003). Dehydration and exercise decrease the urine output due to vasoconstriction of the renal
arteries, stimulating the release of Tamm Horsfall protein to help protect against calcium
crystallisation and UTIs (Serafini Cessi, Malagolini and Cavallone 2003). ... Show more content on

We were told the patient had oliguria which is low urine output, the patient passed 100ml in 24
hours which is well below the normal 750ml. This indicates some serious damage somewhere in the
genitourinary system but this does necessarily indicate a kidney prognosis and could be due to
other organ pathologies which cause low urine output such as prostatitis or a UTI (Klahr and
Miller 1998). Microscopic analysis of the urine revealed high numbers of red blood cells both burst
and intact and red blood cell casts but no crystals. This is evidence for damage to the kidneys as
bleeding further down the urinary tract e.g. the bladder would be less likely to result in burst
cells in the urine plus the formation of red blood cell casts is an indicator of glomerular damage
such as inflammation (Sigala, Biava and Hulter 1978). The dipstick confirmed the presence of
protein at 30mg/dL and also showed there were 250 ERY/uL with normal glucose levels. While
the protein level is not that high, the number of red blood cells is huge, this is a clear indicator
of glomerular damage as the filtration membrane is clearly not functional, as there are blood cells
in the urine, the fenestrated endothelium is likely damaged. The GFR of 20 ml/min/1.73m2 is
extremely low, indicating severely decreased function (Medsci 301 Course Guide 2015), providing
further evidence for damage to the glomerulus as this is where filtration occurs. When observing
the photomicrographs, the glomeruli are hard to see amongst large amounts of hyaline material,
there is clearly an exudate in capsular space and there are large numbers of inflammatory cells. All
these factors point to inflammation as the cause of the damage as this would cause the deposition
of the hyaline material, lead to the exudate as vascular permeability is increased and also lead to the
infiltration of immune cells into the reactive tissue.

  • 3. The Pharmaceutical Industry And Society Abstract The dependency of profits to promote sales to please shareholders and research and development of new products seem to be the mindset of the pharmaceutical industry. It is without question that the pharmaceutical companies only care about making a profit more than they do to help the people of the United States. Pharmaceutical companies and doctors that represent them are only acting in their own best interest; patients are the ones who are suffering the most. With that, new information being produced it is not always being fully disclosed in the fine print, or the other option to the drugs they take, this just only helps fuel business s. Main concern of Pharmaceutical Industry Marketing and priorities of the pharmaceutical industry have been a dilemma for years. Scare mongering has been increased on the importance of drugs (Shah, 2010). For example, executives at Mylan, a pharmaceutical company that owns Epipen, reportedly reaped in nearly three hundred million in compensation from 2011 to 2015 (Tuttle, 2016). Heather Bresch, the CEO of Mylan, was accused of jacking up the price by 600%; her response was to blame the broken health system , Obamacare, and the rise of high deductible health insurance plan. But should this be the case to do these to millions of families who can barely afford something that take thirty dollars to make and jack the price up to seven hundred dollars? We live in a greedy nation that is only there to take from one another. When people see this you can only think of how the pharmaceuticals being an industry it basically prioritizes that revenue comes before the needs and cures to the human society. Advertizing, only help boost with sales, with the previous example it was noted that it was encouraged that the states to be required to purchase these Epipen s to fight life threatening allergic reactions. • 4. A Brief Note On Porsche s Engine Downsizing Porsche s Engine Downsizing There are more than one billion cars in the world right now and this number is increasing everyday due to the demand of the cars. Most of the cars in the world have big engines right now. What a big engine means is the eight cylinder V8, ten cylinder V10, or twelve cylinder V12 engines. Those types of engines have been used for many years in the car industry. All the car manufacturers prefer to use those engines because people like them and thinking that more cylinder means more power. For many years those car manufacturers have not realized one thing that big engines emission rates are really bad and those engines are actually creating tons of carbon monoxide because they have more cylinders. Basically more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Porsche started to downsize their engines to fit their engine emission rates to the new rules. By that move, Porsche was one of the first sports car manufacturer that started to downsize their engines. Downsizing the engine mean is actually pretty simple. They are actually taking 4.8 liter, eight cylinder V8 engine and changing it with the 3.6 liter, six cylinder V6 engine. When they are making the engine smaller, they are also adding that engine a turbocharger to make it much powerful as the bigger engine. (Turbocharger is helping the engine to get more air to the pistons to increase it is performance) Most of the Porsche customers thought bigger engines were stronger and it makes the car go faster. Actually, it is not true because when they add turbochargers to the engine, it makes the car much powerful as the bigger engines. Another thing about the downsizing the engine is the fact that, when the manufacturer downsizes the engine they are actually making the car lighter. When a car becomes lighter, it is actually goes faster than the previous models because it has much power as the old model, but it is lighter. However in order to prove their small engines performance to their customers, in 2014 Porsche started to compete in the FIA WEC 24 hour races to test their new downsized engines to see their performance and reliability in long endurance races. ... Induction By David Hume Induction is a form of reasoning in which the premises of an argument support the conclusion, David Hume (1711 1776), in his book A Treatise of Human Nature of induction, wrote; instances of which we have had no experience resemble those of which we have had experience (pp. 89) [1]. Adamson (1999) wrote that evidence shows that induction was first scrutinised in the late 17th and early 18th century, when contemporary views of the world were questioned, near the end of the scientific revolution [2]. Chalmers (1999), continues, stating that the recognition of the problem of induction was the starting point for a sceptical attack of a large domain of accepted beliefs and opinions that are ordinarily taken to be knowledge , showing the impact philosophical questioning had on a diverse range of belief systems [3]. David Hume is recognised as one of the first philosophers to question the validity of induction, and the father of The Problem of Induction , a lasting philosophical question. He began by doubting the ability and validity of a posteriori knowledge to demonstrate causality. Hume speculated whether induction provides reliable evidence, and whether it is rational for us to believe inductive knowledge if the basis is not objective, and whether we can rationally justify beliefs that stem from the unobserved (Hume, pp. 193 4) [4], a rational being would not trust conclusions drawn from the uncertain. Today, music is divided into many genres such as hip hop, easy listening, country, rock and roll or classic rock, etc. Pure blues or jazz is hardly thought of, as those two genres are not heard as often in today s music. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the difference between bluesand jazzmusic. Blues and jazz are musical genres, or styles, which are considered American musical traditions. Blues and jazz are related because the roots of jazz are from the blues and they both originated from the American south, invented and practiced by African Americans. Although they are related, they have distinct differences, both culturally and musically. These two genres still impact the music that is heard today, and the confusion of telling the two apart is because of the numerous musical crossovers that artists do these days. Cultural Differences Blues Blues developed in the working fields of Georgia, the Carolinas, Texas, and the Mississippi delta region of the south, specifically southern Mississippi. In an article, Morgan Freeman, actor and owner of Ground Zero Blues Club, was quoted saying People working those cotton fields, they would sing, we call it field holler . Structural techniques play a huge role in many poems due to the fact that structure sometimes reflects what is happening in the poem. This can clearly be seen with all the poems, in Remember and Do not go gentle into that good night a strict, tight and ridged structure and this helps reinforce the meaning that the poets are trying to portray. With Do not go gentle the structure of the poem in some respects contrasts what is actually happening with Dylan Thomas, with father dying; his head is all over the place but the structure is tight and strict. Villanelles are very traditional strict structures and the message that is portrayed through Do not go gentle contrasts it as it is an untraditional message. In addition to this the... As for E for L the lack of strict and ridged structure and the quick evolution of the structure in some aspects mimic the thought process of the character within the poem. The character within the poem is psychotic and his mind is all over the place j, on top of that his killing tendencies and his thirst for murder quickly evolves from a fly to a goldfish to a human just like structure quickly evolves. This lack of strict poetic structure allows for the poet to get the readers full attention and for them to grasp the reader and get their message about death across in the most effective way possible. Finally In The man he killed and Havisham a cyclical structure is used and this helps reinforce the meaning that the poet is trying to portray. With The man he killed the structure reinforces the dilemma that the character is facing as he has killed a man; his head is all over the place but the structure is tight and traditional and this can be seen with the ABAB rhyme scheme. Therefore, the constitutionality of a bill is implied by its introduction into the House of Commons, and not in actuality by Parliament. He has managed to push across the majority of stereotypes that we had read about in the America on Film textbook and also what we have heard in history lessons. Using Jamie Foxx as a Black Buck Tarantino shows the audience about the trouble of racial slurs that get thrown at him by white people and giving the position that he is in (as Django) he has to become the hyper masculine African American and quickly builds up confidence to fight back. For example, when Django and Schultz ride into a town on horseback the white people in the street begin to stare, some stop mid sentence is shock and others speak their mind by saying that s a nigger on a horse . To get this point across to the viewers the camera has a few seconds of each face of the white folk to emphasize the shock. Tarantino uses other actors to dress and act how black people would of acted at that time and how they obeyed the white race. The basic approach to analyzing films as a whole is to keep in mind that when we are watching a film we cannot freeze for analysis. We have to concentrate on the interactions of image, sound, and motion that are present. In addition we have to accumulate impressions of the film effectiveness and maintain some degree of objectivity and critical detachment. • 22. Teleological And Deontological Analysis One might ask, what makes an action ethical? Why some people think that product placement in movies is a considerably ethical phenomena, while others find it unethical and unacceptable. According to Tsalikis Fritzsche, (1989, p, 696), ethics is an inquiry into the nature and grounds of morality where moralitymeans moral judgments, standards, and rules of conduct (Tsalikis, Fritzsche, 1989, p, 696). In other words, ethics, which is a discipline that deals with what true and false is, is defined as a system of determined theory or moral values (Shea, 1988). Likewise an ethical evaluation is based on moral philosophy(Reidenbach Robin, 1990). Therefore, an ethical decision depends on individual moral values, and the judgment of business activity is influenced by his/her moral philosophy (Wang, 2012).... These kinds of programs would provide essential skills, development of healthy habits, and replace the sense of hopelessness (Szumski 21) that many inmates have. Most of America s correctional institutions lack programs of criminal rehabilitation. One can predict that a prisoner, after many years of incarceration without being educated, will have many more disadvantages upon their release back into society. One of the major sociological theories of delinquency is differential association (Doob 169). The idea is that some people have learned their ways from undesirable people who they were forced to associate with and that this association warps their thinking and social attitudes. Differential association theory emphasizes that a person is more likely to become a criminal if the people who have the greatest influence upon them are criminals (Doob 169). The intention of cathedrals was to draw people, and in turn inspire those who came to pray, learn, and worship (Macaulay, Cathedral 4). Cathedrals remain inspirational in their enormous scale and overpowering beauty, and that these places of worship are still standing after many centuries show a level of determination and integrity in those that built the edifices (Macaulay, Cathedral4). Architect Vitruvius wrote, All the buildings have two components: The building itself and an idea that its architecture tried to express (McNamara 6). People build churches because they believed in something (McNamara 6). In David Macaulay s book, Built to Last, he says the mindset behind building cathedrals was that of honor and dedication. Macaulay s research noted that, The new cathedral would be built to the glory of God, and it mattered little that it might take more than one hundred years to construct it (Macaulay, Built to Last 98). • 42. Intonation During Casual Speech Productions Intonation during casual speech productions can be observed at the discourse level using auditory analysis (Chun, 2002). In practice, speakers can utilise falling or rising intonations to represent various speech realisations such as statements, commands and/or explanations (Cruttendon, 1981). Speakers intonation choice may be situation specific and used as an entity of expression to generate meaning within particular groups of words (Chun, 2002). Interpretations of speakers speech style using statistical analyses have been the main focus in previous literatures, providing fruitful evidence on both pitch and linguistic variation and the relations to a more positive or negative connotation within languages. Henton (1989) demonstrated that the pitch level in linguistic variation could carry underlying connotations (positive or negative) such that in male speech, if expressed with low pitch, rumbling, under expressive and monotonous, can be expressive of a more negative connotation within the speech context. Subsequent studies addressed speakers abilities to accommodate sociophonetic speech to produce variants that are more similarly associated with the social characteristics of the audience (Bell, 1984), or a referee (Hay, Jannedy Mendoza Denton, 1999). Hay et al., (1999) attempted to demonstrate the prevalence of an interplay between speech style and the ethnic background of a referee by examining Oprah Winfrey s speech tendencies to monophthongise the diphthong /Г¦/. ... • 43. Development of Musical Instruments Throughout history, music has been influenced by the different events that transpire across the world. As civilizations rise and fall, cultures combine and change; and with that, new music and musical instruments are brought into existence. From each corner of the world and from all time periods, music has grown. The places that music has dramatically developed the most are in China, Europe, and America. Musical instruments in these locations have gone through a musical revolution and have eventually become what we know so well today. China One of the earliest locations that musical instruments were created and developed was China. Many of the instruments during this period (500 1100 A.D.) that were being made were classified as zithers of idiophones. Zithers are very similar to guitars since both share the quality of having strings, but do not have a neck. Idiophones are instruments where the body itself vibrates to create the sound much like modern day percussion instruments. These types of instruments were brought into being by the beliefs and teachings of people like Confucius, Mencius, and Laozi. These men believed that music was an essential part of character and community and helped the creation of new instruments (1). Many different styles of instruments came out of this time period. Instruments such as the Guqin, Xiao flute, Sanxian, and Pipa were all created and modified with the rise of a style of music Nanguan. Nanguan was a style of Chinese classical ... • 45. What Is The Great Irish Potato Famine The text under consideration is a letter written by Mr Nicholas Cummins, a magistrate of Cork, on 17 December 1846 imploring the Duke of Wellington to be aware of the precarious conditions in which Irish people are living and to start acting. This period of mass starvation is mostly known and called as The Great Irish PotatoFamine . In line with the previous we could say therefore that this text is first addressed to the Duke of Wellington by taking advantage of his Irish origins but also keeping in mind that he was an influential person politically speaking. And secondly, this letter is also addressed to the British nation in general, since Mr Nicholas Cummins himself sent a copy of the letter to The Times which was published none other than on 24 December which is Christmas Eve. It is important to say that the text to deal with is a literary journalistic one since it is letter what is being analysed but also this letter was in newspapers to let the whole British nation ... By looking at the names used to designate this period it is easy to know in a superficial way what happened, a great hunger. But also the word Potato gives us some clues as by the 1800s, the potato had become the staple crop in the poorest regions and as this vegetable is rich in protein, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins, it is possible to stay healthy on a diet of potatoes alone . By autumn, the potatoes were ready to be harvested and eaten during the long winter into the spring and early summer. This system worked year after year until a fungus appeared on potato plants which caused blight spread throughout the fields by cool breezes. In 1845 only one third of the crop was lost, but in 1846 the fungus reappeared and the failure of the potato harvest was near ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to an article in Vox Sanguines, an international journal of transfusion medicine, (Takkenberg, Weegink, Zaaijer, amp; Reesink, 2010) about 400 million people worldwide are chronically infected with HBV, and 2 billion people have serological evidence of past or present HBV infection . HBV, formerly known as serum hepatitis (Huether amp; McCance, 2008), has eight genotypes (A H) with genotype D being associated with viral or acute hepatitis B and prevalent mainly in Europe, North Africa, and the United States ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at the data provided by CDC (Department of Health and Human Services, 2011) during 2010 2011 there is an average incidence of HBV of 8 (per 10 million people) in 2010 and 6 (per 10 million people) in 2011 (appendix C). This decrease of 2 (per 10 million people) from 2010 2011 may just be a coincidence and further analysis of data over a larger period of time would be needed. The decrease of 2 persons may not seem like a lot; however with continued education, vaccination, and awareness of prevention, this could indeed signify a downward trend of acute HBV. The trend of occurrence over the course of each year, 2010 and 2011, shows a steady increase without any major spike or deviations (appendix A amp; B). With the transmission of HBV being mainly from drug use and exchange of fluids between infected individuals (sexually), there is no factor that should cause a spike. Continuing preventative measures will promote lowering the incidence of occurrence, however until a cure is found HBV will still register a minimal number of cases a year. References Adams, M. • 47. Incidence Rates Of Breast Cancer Incidence rates of breast cancer are rising and mortality rates are proportionally high in Arab countries compared to rates in developed countries. The common late diagnosis among Arab women has been related to the low participation rates of Arab women in breast cancer screening activities (Soskolne et al., 2007). Attention has been paid to barriers and facilitators related to breast cancer screening to develop culturally appropriate and effective interventions (Donnelly et al., 2011). It is recognized that personal, religious, environmental, social, and economic factors influence participation in screening programs and other screening activities (Soskolne et al., 2007). So factors affecting Breast Cancer Screening can be classified as following: 1 Factors related to the subject. 2 Factors related to health care system. Factors related to the subject: 1.Age: The elderly patients faced considerably more barriers compared with younger women. Screening elderly women significantly is less often than younger women, regardless of family history of breast cancer (Weinberger et al., 1991). Age influenced potential attendance was 67% of those aged 65 69 who accept breast cancer screening compared with 27% of those aged 80 and over (Edwards and Jones, 2000). • 48. Low Voter Turnout In The United States 2014 Midterm Elections Low Voter Turnout Essentially, vigorous voter turnout is very paramount to a healthy economy. In most cases, low turnout is attributed to low participation in political issues and the misguided notion that voting in one candidate will have less impact on public policy. In the United States, voter participation keeps on fluctuating which has been an area of concern especially in midterm elections. More specifically, the 2014 midterm election reported the lowest voter participation in a period of more than seven decades. This paper delves into analyzing the reasons for the low voter turnout in 2014 midterm elections in the United States. The paper will also provide recommendations on how voter turnout may be increased in the 2016 general elections. The 2014 midterm voter turnout was considerably low owing to a number of reasons. One possible reason attributed to the low voter turnout is disillusionment with the leading party. Data collected from exit polls indicated that about 54 percent of citizens were opposed to President Barack Obama performance as the president(Ching, 2014). Further, 65% of them viewed the country as headed towards the wrong direction. Most voters were dissatisfied with the Republicans leaders and lacked confidence in the government to do ... • 49. Idiotism In The Book Thief Rudy Steiner: A Dual Threat In one of the cruelest twists in Markus Zusak s extraordinary and emotional book, The Book Thief, the fictional city of Molching, Germany is bombed. As bombs rain down onto Himmel Street, Zusak effectively kills off many important characters to dramatically conclude his novel. One of those characters is illustrated as a lemon haired (267) teenager by the name of Rudy Steiner. Rudy is arguably the most fascinating and intriguing person in The Book Thief largely due to the complexity of his actions. He is a perfect example of one of the novel s themes: the dual nature of humans. Rudy is an intelligent boy who purposefully makes the most idiotic decisions, a goal setter who deliberately fails at the brink of success, and a thief possessing one of the biggest hearts a young boy could possess. Although Rudy is a very bright individual, he is as capable of making foolish mistakes as any other person, displaying a dual nature. Take for example his fate tempting adventure in Mamer s Grocery Store, during the chapter Three Acts of Stupidity by Rudy Steiner, where he masterfully weaves through a line of shoppers attempting to buy potatoes, almost escaping notice. As he reaches the front, he seizes the largest potato of all which is unfortunately being eyed by many other hungry Germans. Almost immediately, Rudy is surrounded by the other customers and restrained by the grocer, Thomas Mamer, who threatens to call the police. The situation is looking bleak for Rudy until he is struck by a stroke of genius. Spying in the crowd Herr Link, one of his schoolteachers, Rudy urges him to convince the shopkeeper how poor he is. Herr Link recognizes Rudy s dire situation and aids him in escaping the grocery store without any serious repercussions (293 299). Rudy s narrow escape exemplifies a major part of his dual nature. His belief that he can steal the most magnificent potato from a grocer and a crowd of hungry Germans is insane. However, his quick thinking shows just how clever he can be. Although his aforementioned theft attempt was unwise, Rudy s other act of stupidity was blatantly intentional. While attending Hitler YouthMeetings, he comes to dislike the leader of his area Hitler Youth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. The Ideal Leader Of A Business Situation Essay I am an ESTJ and some might say this personality is the ideal leader in a business situation, according to 16 Personalities, (n.d.). ESTJs relish bringing people together and always work hard. Additionally, ESTJs are model citizens and prefer to live in a factual, orderly world. At work ESTJs are unperturbed by complicated tasks and with their great organizational skills whittle down the most monumental tasks, making them appear to be easy. All the while, fulfilling promises along the way. Moreover, ESTJs will not be caught with their heads in the clouds dreaming, they live in a concrete world of today and have keen insight of tasks ahead. Aggressive and demanding, ESTJs need to be mindful of others needs and not be over critical and too logical when in tense emotionally charged situations. The exact opposite of an ESTJ would be an INFP, which according to 16 Personalities, (n.d.) only exists in 4% of the population. INFPs are purists and diplomatic with only the best of intentions and are not motivated by rewards or punishment. This personality type is very symbolic and intuitive and spawns many actors, writers and poets. INFPs tend to have a close circle of friends and being so virtuous might lead to them to isolation from others that cannot understand this idyllic motivation. INFPs will think on a higher plane than an ESTJ which might cause irritation if the two work together, subsequently, the ESTJ might seek to finish the task while the INFP is still looking for ... • 52. Endocrine Extraordinary Sample Sample A0 The urine sample provided was clear and yellow with no frothing indicating that there was little or no protein in the urine. The sample contained no cells or crystals but did contain a small number of hyaline casts. The lack of cells indicates the filtration membrane is at least partially intact, the casts are not necessarily associated with pathology and are more likely due to exercise or dehydration although can be due to renal failure (Serafini Cessi, Malagolini and Cavallone 2003). Dehydration and exercise decrease the urine output due to vasoconstriction of the renal arteries, stimulating the release of Tamm Horsfall protein to help protect against calcium crystallisation and UTIs (Serafini Cessi, Malagolini and Cavallone 2003). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were told the patient had oliguria which is low urine output, the patient passed 100ml in 24 hours which is well below the normal 750ml. This indicates some serious damage somewhere in the genitourinary system but this does necessarily indicate a kidney prognosis and could be due to other organ pathologies which cause low urine output such as prostatitis or a UTI (Klahr and Miller 1998). Microscopic analysis of the urine revealed high numbers of red blood cells both burst and intact and red blood cell casts but no crystals. This is evidence for damage to the kidneys as bleeding further down the urinary tract e.g. the bladder would be less likely to result in burst cells in the urine plus the formation of red blood cell casts is an indicator of glomerular damage such as inflammation (Sigala, Biava and Hulter 1978). The dipstick confirmed the presence of protein at 30mg/dL and also showed there were 250 ERY/uL with normal glucose levels. While the protein level is not that high, the number of red blood cells is huge, this is a clear indicator of glomerular damage as the filtration membrane is clearly not functional, as there are blood cells in the urine, the fenestrated endothelium is likely damaged. The GFR of 20 ml/min/1.73m2 is extremely low, indicating severely decreased function (Medsci 301 Course Guide 2015), providing further evidence for damage to the glomerulus as this is where filtration occurs. When observing the photomicrographs, the glomeruli are hard to see amongst large amounts of hyaline material, there is clearly an exudate in capsular space and there are large numbers of inflammatory cells. All these factors point to inflammation as the cause of the damage as this would cause the deposition of the hyaline material, lead to the exudate as vascular permeability is increased and also lead to the infiltration of immune cells into the reactive tissue. ...
