Advantages Of Collaborative Differing In Movies
rated a movie that belongs to the comedy genre, then the system can learn to recommend other
movies from this genre. Collaborative filtering: The simplest and original implementation of this
approach recommends to the active user the items that other users with similar tastes liked in the
past. The similarity in taste of two users is calculated based on the similarity in the rating history
of the users. This is the reason why collaborative filtering is often referred as people to people
correlation. Collaborative filtering is considered to be the most popular and widely implemented
technique in Recommendation systems. An item item approach models the preference of a user to
an item based on ratings of similar items by the same user. Nearest neighbors methods enjoy
considerable popularity due to their simplicity, efficiency, and their ability to produce accurate and
personalized recommendations. Demographic: This type of system recommends items based on the
demographic profile of the user. The assumption is that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The purpose of JSP is to provide a declarative, presentation centric method of developing servlets.
Typically, JSP pages are subject to a translation phase and a request processing phase. The
translation phase is carried out only once, unless the JSP page changes, in which case it is
repeated. Assuming there were no syntax errors within the page, the result is a JSP page
implementation class file. The translation phase is typically carried out by the JSP engine itself,
when it receives an incoming request for the JSP page for the first

Synthes Analysis Essay
CASE ANALYSIS
Synthes
1. Situation Analysis:
A. Nature of Demand
The products in discussion are bioresorbable internal fixation devices. These devices are surgically
placed to stabilize broken bones, aiding in allowing the body to heal itself.
Internal fixation devices in the past had been made of stainless steel or titanium, but with problems
resulting from those permanent devices, an innovative approach is being considered. Bioresorbable
implants are a possible replacement to the original implants that would eliminate the need for
removal, which has shown to be a problem for traditional implants.
The Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (AO) formed in 1958 to improve and standardize
the state of internal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Competition, while present, is somewhat stable and not allowing many new entrants into the arena.
While still competing with other companies such as Johnson Johnson and Biomet, Synthes sales are
almost half of the entire trauma implant manufacturers. There is a small expected increase in sales,
but the outlook for a substantial growth of new consumers does not appear to be definite. The
client base is secure.
Internal fixation devices as a whole are in the Competitive Turbulence stage, approaching
Saturation. In 2000, Fractures that resulted in fixation devices neared 713,000 patients. The market
as mentioned before had sales of roughly 540 million dollars, with an annual increase. Intelligence

The actual bioresorbable segment is in the Market development stage. Surgeons who have a large
say in purchasing power of the products still need a great deal more information and trial before
Although other companies have introduced first and second generation bioresorbables to strengthen
market niche. Synthes participation in these efforts was minimal, as they focused primarily on
improving their standard devices, staying away from the newer bioresorbable craze. First and
Second Bioresorbables did not accelerate in sales as originally planned.

Hollow Men Imagery
This is an interesting work as it threw me in a loop trying to understand the imagery. His
speaking of Hollow Men create an imagery of scarecrows with straw in their hats. He speaks of
hollow men who are stuffed, seemingly contradicting himself in the first sentence until he
mentions the hats filled with straw. He seemingly speaks of scarecrows as they represent the
human form but are lifeless, empty, stuffed with hay. I am listening to the story these Hollow Men
mean to tell me, they whisper so softly the narrator compares it to wind in dry grass or rats feet
scurrying along over broken glass. The next part the Hollow Men describe themselves as shape
without form, shade without color, paralyzed force, gesture without motion. Each of these... Show

These others seem to acknowledge the Hollow Men as nothing more than scarecrows rather than
what they really are. I learn here that the hollow men are in fact spirits or lost, violent souls. Our
Hollow Men appear to have not crossed over, as if they re in limbo. Previously they are
mentioned as something yet nothing, meaning that these hollow men are just people who have
lost their humanity or the qualities that made them human. The Hollow Men are frightened to
meet the gaze of the spirits who cross as if they think they are beneath these others. Until the
Hollow Man tells me that the kingdom is unlike paradise, there is a tree swinging, and voices are
in the wind s singing more distant and more solemn than a fading star. He seems to have a
fixation on eyes as if they are important as he explains There, the eyes are Sunlight on a broken
column . Now this imagery appeared to me as a fractured incoherent mess as it said eyes were
like sunlight cast onto a broken column, but I came to the conclusion that the eyes see truth and
truth can be mostly be compared to light as like light helps you see and understand so does truth.
These eyes see the Hollow Men for what they truly are and the Hollow Men are terrified of the
image they see. The Hollow Men live in an incomprehensible world and are terrified of knowing
how things truly are so they stay

Economic Effects Of The Slave Revolution
Slavery had an overwhelming impact on the political, social, and economical in the United States.
Jamestown, Virginia in 1619, the first African slaves were brought into the United States. Reasons
were because the tobacco, sugar, rice, and coffee fields were expanding which led to increase
demand for labor. The Atlantic slave tradewas an inhuman systematic importation of slaves
between the African traders, American planters, and the European merchants bargaining over
human lives which led to the Middle Passage. 1675 1775, the slaves were the backbone of
monoculture labor and so it was put into law to keep the Africans as slaves. So prevalent was this
Italian operated slave trade that the word slave was derived from the word Slav, name for people
from Slavic countries (Williams 3). In both seventeenth and eighteenth centuries the African
American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. After the War of 1812,
three historical processes unleashed by the Revolution, which were the following: the spread of
market relations, the westward movement of the population, and the rise of a vigorous political
democracy. The same steamboats and canals that were used by millions of famers to send their
goods to the markets, also facilitated the growth of the slave based cotton plantations in the South.
In the first half of the nineteenth century, the market revolution swept over the United States. Both
the westward expansion and the market revolution

Logical vs. Physical Network Design
Logical vs. Physical Network Design The typical Top Down approach to network design uses a
systematic method to plan, design, and implement a new network. Generally, the Top Down
methodology involves analysis of the business requirements and goals, development of the logical
design based on such goals, development of the physical design, and a phase for testing,
optimizing, and documenting the network design. This paper focuses on the activities performed
to create a logical design of a network and then goes on to explain how the physical design is
created.
Logical Network Design It is difficult to discuss the principles of the logical design without first
discussing the importance of planning and analysis. After all, the goal of ... Show more content on

This also covers a portion of the logical design process of addressing the scalability requirements.
Figure 1. A three layered hierarchal design model
Physical Network Design Whereas the logical design of the network most accurately reflects the
needs of the business by depicting network structure with regards to the organizational units and
requirements, the physical design is more concerned with distance, cabling, and connectivity issues.
Generally, a physical network is tied very closely with the building infrastructure and floor plan. It
depicts the physical connections of the devices and no other relationships among them. In contrast,
the logical network establishes the boundaries of subnets as a concept, not a physical connection,
using switching and VLAN techniques. The physical network design would normally follow the
logical design in a typical top down approach. The decisions made during the physical design of the
network involve the implementation suggestions of specific equipment and technology. One such
choice is the overall LAN technology such as Ethernet, FDDI, or Token Ring. The topology chosen
in the logical design usually makes this decision apparent. Also, the determination of devices such
as whether to use hubs or routers is made, how many are required, how many

Orientation Training Program Essay
Orientation Training Program for New Employees 1.Introduction Orientation is the pre job phase
of training. It introduces each new employee to the job and workplace as soon as he or she
reports to work. The primary purpose of orientation is to tell new staff members what they want to
know and what the company want them to know. Idaman Development Corporation (IDC) was
incorporated on the 01st January 2009 to undertake the development of Idaman area of Taman
Ibukota. IDC focuses to plan, develop, maintain and administer all the developments in the area

is use should motivate the new employees about the organization. The training methods which
will be use in this new employee s orientation program will consist of learning method and team
method. The purpose of using learning method is, because learning is the achievement of
knowledge, skills, or attitudes. In addition this training program is conducted to adults, and
adults learn best when they are actively involved in the training process, when they are
presented with adequate materials and with a good environment. So to conduct a part of this
new employee training program, employees will be given the appropriate materials needed
about IDC. The purpose of using team method is that IDC got administrative departments in

A Conversation With A Serial Killer On The Loose
I remember seeing and hearing his name on the news. To be honest I was so intrigued and there
was just this feeling like I knew him. He was a so called rapist and killer, I became so interested
in him I read newspapers and watched so many news reports on him. They never caught him so
they only had sketches of what they thought he looked like...So it started when I was in my room
listening to music on my IPod. You see I m not the kind of girl who obeys rules or respects anyone
or anything. I don t care about consquences, I never really think things threw. So being the way I
am, I would sneak out every night around 3 a.m, the witching hour. Yeah I know I know. What?!

really noticed him. He was usually in the back as well, just watching people. After my usual
night, I began walking home, seeing the same car as before I sped up my walk. When I got home, I
didnt even change before bed. I just layed on my bed drifting off to sleep. He placed his hand over

open. I looked up at him, he seemed worried and scared. At that moment, I knew it was the guy
from the club. This was the man on the T.V they called a killer. He yelled, Don t scream! All I
could do was roll my eyes. I guess he liked the way I showed no fear because, he picked me up with
me facing his back and climbed out the window. I thought he was a killer like the news said, but I
wasn t afraid. He put me in the passenger side of the car I saw driving by my house. As we drove
off, I looked back at my house saying goodbye one last time. Honestly, I was kind of glad he took

The St Columba Altarpiece By Rogier Van Der Weyden
The St Columba Altarpiece (Columbia Triptych, c.1460), a three panel altarpiece by a well
renowned artist Rogier van der Weyden s, is considered a powerful piece of art and has inspired
many artists. Created approximately around 1460, it tells a narrative of the events surrounding the
birth of Jesus Christ. The Adoration of the Magi is the middle panel and perhaps the most famous
piece among the three. It portrays the visit of the Kings to the newborn Jesus. Since it is an
altarpiece, and portrays religious events, there is enough evidence to believe that the painting was
commissioned by a church in St Columba, hence its name.
The painting was created using oil paint on a wooden surface. Unlike several artworks of the
northern renaissance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

expression looks a bit upsetting. There is a small table on his left where they placed one of the
presents brought by the Magi. The Virgin Mary is sitting at the center with Jesus in her arms. She
is wearing a vivid blue gown with white fabric underneath. There is a ray of light surrounding her
head and she is watching the baby with tenderness. The Virgin Mary s blue figure is contrasted by
the vivid reds surrounding her on the Magi, on Joseph s garments, the priest s and more thus
accentuating the focal point of the painting on her. The newborn infant on the other hand is half
covered with a white cloth that symbolizes purity and innocence.
Meanwhile on the ground, the older Magus, dressed in expensive clothing and jewelry made of
gold is kneeling in front of the Virgin Mary and Jesus. He had removed his hat the giant red hat
laying on the ground across from him as a sign of respect. He is carefully holding the small feet
of the newborn Savior and admiring him. His second companion is right behind him making his
way to the baby while carrying a golden chalice as a present. He is wearing fine embroidered
expensive textile and a red cloak. Following him, the youngest of the Magi is carrying another
present made of gold with one hand and removing his turban with the other, while waiting for his
turn to see the newborn babe.

The Gift Of Language In Fifteen Dogs By Andre Alexis
In the novel, Fifteen Dogs by AndrГ© Alexis, Greek gods Hermes and Apollo make a bet that if
they gave any animal the gift of intelligence, the animals would be even more unhappy than
humans. In making this bet, fifteen dogs are granted the gift of intelligence allowing them to be
able to communicate through their own newly formed language and become self aware. At first,
the dogs band together to form a pack, but quickly realize how language complicates their ability to
work together. With the gift of intelligence, the dogs become individuals and think separately rather
than working with a pack mentality. There is no longer harmony between the dogs, but instead a
fight for dominance and a battle of intelligence. We will identify how language eroded the pack
through disagreements and violence as the dogs become aware of their status and differences. The
dogs first run into difficulty with their gift of intelligence when it becomes obvious to them that
there are different levels of comprehension of their ability to communicate using their new
language. Prince is a dogwho shows a deeper understanding and love for language compared to the
others. We see Alexis bring this point out in the novel when he says, Prince s words had not
been meant as a warning. Rather, he had been playing. He had been pretending. He had been
speaking for speaking s sake. Could there be a more despicable use for words? (28). Prince, being a
very clever and curious dog, begins to expand the language,

The American Revolutionary War ( 1775-1783 ) Essay
The American Revolutionary War (1775 1783), was a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain
and thirteen colonies on the North American continent. There was not a specific event that led to
the Revolutionary War. American colonies wanted full democratic rights, but the British only saw
them as colonies to be used and exploited. The British saw the colonies as economic entities that
could pay for their own defense. Many of the colonists would have been willing to pay for their own
defense. With the condition that they would have a voice when it came to making decisions. The
British ignored the colonies demands. As a result, the British developed the separate and unique
American identity. Over a ten year time period many colonists began to identify themselves as
Americans. Once the American identity was defined, The American Revolutionary War became
inevitable. After America won its independence from Great Britain, there was a need for unity
among the new states. The needs for unity lead to the creation of The Articles of Confederation.
These Articles represent the first constitutional agreement made between 13 American states. The
Articles of confederation served as a written document establishing the functions of the government
and the United States. The purpose of the Articles was to provide a general government of the 13
colonies that had won their freedom from British rule and to bring unity of the new states. The
Articles of Confederation basically implied that every

Attachment Anxiety
It is thought that marriages are made in heaven and celebrated on Earth, but how long can they be
celebrated for? The question that continues to stump people today, is how a marriage can last for
years and even decades at a time. To understand a long lasting marriage and what makes one
prosper, one must first look at the steps it takes to create the foundation of a healthy marriage. The
ability to understand extremes is where researchers define the spectrum of normalcy. To begin with,
one must figure out what it is that terminates a marriage. Michelle Russel, in the department of

Of course, physical affection plays a large role in connection to a partner, but the underlying
glue for a strong relationship lies in the mindset behind it. Maria Fatima and M. Asir Ajmal, who
both research clinical psychology, undertook a qualitative study and used Interpretive
Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) as a research method. There is not any pre existing theories or
hypothesis surmised upon in using the IPA research method. However, there can be a great deal
of bias because all of the information gathered can be subjective towards the interviewee. In
Maria and Asir s experiment, they interviewed a woman that was happily married and asked her
direct questions about the influencers of a long marriage. The interview questions asked were
formulated from what one needs as an individual, to how it can work in a relationship as well.
The interviewee stated, Happiness and satisfaction go side by side. Satisfaction level determines
your level of happiness and a satisfied life is a happy life . (Maria 39). There were 16 categories
to a life long marriage that presented themselves within this research, and satisfaction was one of
the most important. Each category could potentially be subjective to the one woman interviewed,
and if the experiment is replicated, it could be possible for another person to have the same
categories. One cannot aspire to share, forgive, or love,

Relationship Between Economic Growth And Economic Development
Introduction Economic development is a new concept that came about in the early twentieth
century. Although, theorists argue that Karl Marx has alluded to the concept earlier in 1887 .
Historically, the increasing importance of the concept can be traced back to the needs approach of
the ILO , World Bank and Amartya Sen s Capability approach (Sen, 1993). Gerald Meier defines
economic development as the process whereby the real per capita income of a country increases
over a long period of time subject to the stipulation that the number below an absolute poverty line
does not increase and that the distribution of income does not become more unequal . Wherein,
there is evidently a strong relationship between economic growth and development. This essay
analysis the concept of the two terms economic growth and economic development by examining
their characteristic approaches. In turn, understanding the relationship between them. Economic
Growth Economic growth aims at removing obstacles that could come in the way of increasing an
economy s productive capacity, like removing market imperfections that exist in an economy.
Supplying the missing components like capital, foreign exchange, technology, skills, and
management, which is needed for improving an economy s productive capacity. Consequently,
expecting that the increased capacity of the economy would somehow reach the masses. Economic

Avoid Allergies Essay
More than half of all people in the U.S. tests positive in reaction to one or more allergens. Food
allergies need to be handled differently from other allergies. But for those with an allergy to
pollen, pet dander or other airborne allergens, there are a surprising number of things you can do
to reduce your symptoms without medication. 1. Identify and avoid the allergen If you haven t
yet identified what triggers your allergies, get tested and identify it. Once you know what the
problem is, do what you can to avoid the allergen. You probably cannot avoid it 100 percent, but
reducing exposure is the single best way to avoid having symptoms or get them down to a
minimum. 2. Clean up If you are sneezing a lot, do a thorough cleaning of your home and/or
office. Dust can contain pollen and other triggers. It is also a good practice to clean the filter on
the AC and look for indicators of hidden mold. Think of this as the proverbial spring cleaning. You

Try eating some orange rind Some people swear by eating a little bit of the peel or rind of an
orange. You can simply buy a nice looking orange, peel it and store the peel in a Ziploc bag in
your refrigerator. Consume small amounts of it as needed. However, if you find the strong flavor
too much to deal with, you can make dried, candied orange rind. Then, not only can you enjoy this
taste sensation, but no one has to know that your sweet snack is really an allergy treatment in
disguise. Alternately, you can make or buy desserts that include either orange or lemon zest, which
is just a fancy word for grated peel. Although most Americans have one or more allergies, you aren

you spend time, irrigating your sinuses, having some licorice, keeping a journal, getting enough

Physics Archimedes Principle Lab Report
Measurement of Mass, Volume, and Density through
Archimedes Principle
Overview:
The purpose of this experiment was to measure the density of a solid and a liquid using
Archimedes principle. Archimedes is one of the greatest inventors and mathematicians of all time.
The principle we used in this experiment was discovered when Archimedes stepped into a full bath
tub. Using Archimedes principle, we were able to determine the density of a lead rod, water, and an
unknown liquid.

The spring constant that was found from the previous lab was 0.023 N/m. In part B of the
experiment, we were able to determine the change in mass of the lead rod from the air to the water
and the volume of the lead rod. After conducting five trials, we were able to find the change in
mass of the lead rod by using the spring constant formula of F=kx. After modifying the formula
to solve for mass, we were able to find the change in mass for each trial by multiplying the spring
constant and displacement of the lead rod in air versus water, then dividing by gravity. The
average change in mass was found to be 9.38X10 4g. Once we had found the mass of the lead rod,
we were able to find calculate the volume of the lead rod by modifying the buoyancy force
formula to solve for the volume of the object. Find that formula, we divided the mass of the lead
rod by the density of water as shown in the table of literature. The average volume of the lead rod
was found to be 3.422 cm3. In part C of this experiment, we were able to determine the change in
mass of the lead rod from air to an unknown liquid and the density of the unknown liquid. We
used the same method in part B to calculate the change in mass of the lead rod. The average
change in mass of the lead rod in the unknown liquid was found to be ... Since the volume of an

Why I Became A Missouri Resident
As I grew up in a suburb of Missouri I was not very aware of the so called boarder wars that
Kansans and Missourians experienced. I became much more aware of the stereotypes that arose
from either sides of the Stateline once I entered high school. Still a Missouri resident I was not
very familiar with Kansass culture, or even some of the main differences between the two States.
Once my family moved west of the Stateline I finally experienced hands on some of the main
differences. There was a different in culture, as well as a few legal differences. Lots of laws vary
drastically from state to state, and this is something very unique to the United States. Once my
family moved to Kansas there were a few obvious differences, one of which was the ability to
purchase liquor at your grocery store. On the Missouriside one is able to purchase a variety of
liquors with no limits on alcohol percentages by volume from grocery stores, and gas stations.
Additionally, stores are able to sell liquor until midnight on Sundays. Controversially, Kansas s
liquor stores are only able to sell liquor until 8 P.M. on Sundays, which also requires a special
license. Grocery stores in Kansas are only able to sell beverages that have an alcohol percentage
less than 3.2%. An additional difference between Kansas and Missouri are the requirements for
obtaining a drivers license. Kansas has a minimum age requirement of 14 to possess a learner s
permit, while Missouri has a minimum age of 15. Once

Deicer Lab Essay
Abstract Through three different experiments we were to find the quality of NaCl as a deicer.
These experiments included testing the freezing point depression of NaCl in solution at two
different concentrations, testing for the H of an aqueous NaCl solution, and combining NaCl with
MgCl2 in an aqueous solution to test for freezing point depression. Through these various
experiments we found NaCl to be the best deicer for our region due to its proficient freezing point
depression and its cost efficiency.
Introduction
As scientists we were given the task to find the overall effectiveness of NaCl as a deicer. In
choosing the best deicer we are comparing NaCl to KCl, MgCl2, and CaCl2. We believed NaCl to

Analysis Day One
Through our data acquisition on day one our predicted values for the change in temperature of our
NaCl solution in water was slightly off. This was most likely due to recording the freezing
temperature sometime after the precise moment of the solution freezing. However, we predicted
that as we doubled our concentration of NaCl in solution the freezing point depression would also
double which is consistent with our results. Through our day one experiments we were able to
better understand the ability of NaCl as a deicer by understanding how the freezing point depression
changes based on concentration. We could further test these results by testing with different
concentrations of NaCl.

Prophets And The Old Testament
The last seventeen books of the Old Testament are books of prophecy. Five of these books are
known as the major prophets while the other twelve books are known as the minor prophets. The
prophets in the Old Testament are very important. The prophets spoke for God and were called
by the Lord to do five specific things (Hindson Yates, 2012 p. 287). They were to tell the people
to turn back to the Lord, remind people to conform to the Law, they were also to rebuild the
nation and create a spiritual revival in the people as well as a regeneration in spiritual birth
(Hindson, 2010, p. 123 124). Prophets were also given a very unique talent that they used for God.
One of the most unique features of the true Old Testamentprophets was their ability to predict
(Hindson Yates, p. 289). Biblical prophets speak to future events as though they had already
occurred (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Though prophets are known for their ability to foresee the
future, they also address issues that the Israelites were facing. The prophets spoke on many issues
such as idolatry, social injustice, and religious ritualism. Frederick E. Greenspahn addressed the
prophets input on idolatry. Israelite prophets seem particularly concerned with this problem: their
land is full of idols... idols of silver and gold which they made in order to prostrate [to them], says
Isaiah (Greenspahn, 2004). Isaiah was not the only prophet who ran into the problem of idolatry,

Amoco began its life as a part of John D. Rockefeller s powerful Standard Oil Trust. Incorporated
in 1889 as the Standard Oil Company (Indiana), the company s first challenge was to build a
refinery in Whiting, Indiana, specially designed to handle high sulphur crude oil from a field near
Lima, Ohio.
In 1912, a year after dissolution of the Rockefeller Trust, company scientist William Burton and
his colleague, Robert Humphreys, received a patent for the thermal cracking process that doubled
the yield of gasoline from a barrel of crude oil, while also boosting its octane rating. Headquartered
in Chicago, Illinois, Standard Oil of Indiana remained the company s name until April of 1985 when
it became Amoco, reflecting a growing international presence.

The oldest of the four companies, ARCO was founded in Philadelphia in 1866 as the Atlantic

Flaws Of The Islamic Religion
Flaws In The Islamic Religion By Kyle Lindsey
Apologetics, Mr. Sweis
July 2015
Part 1: Thesis In 1900, the world was made up of 12.3 % Muslims. In 2010, The number rose to
22.5% making Islam the fastest growing religion in the entire world, exceeding even the growth
rate of Christianity. The American MuslimCouncil has estimated that there are 2,000 mosques and
Islamic community centers in the United States. More than 80% percent have been built in the past
12 years.
Is it possible then that Islam, such an attractive and fast growing religion, can be completely
flawed? Yes, the religion of Islam is filled with historical, scientific, and most importantly spiritual
flaws. Answering this question is important because people are becoming more and more blind to
the truth of the Christian religion by the rapid growth of Islam. Outlining the flaws of Islam also
helps to bring out the accuracy of the Christian religion.
How is it possible that Islam, the fastest growing religion, is so full of errors? Islam is growing
so rapidly because many of its followers are unaware of the extent of its corruption, and many of
its followers are equally unaware of how many errors can be found throughout the Quran. One
way to show people the flaws in Islam is by slowly picking it apart and in so doing, the person is
able to more clearly see the errors and parts of the Quran that do not match up with facts of history

Essay Us Beer Industry Overview
Market Structure
The beer industry is widely known for been an oligopoly. However, in our approach, we will
explore the possibility of analyzing microbreweries in particular from a monopolistic
competition market structure perspective. The beer market oligopoly is composed by three big
players: Anheuser Busch which holds 48 % of the market share, Miller Brewing Co., with 18%
and Coors Brewing Co. with 11%. Please refer to the below graph and table for information
regarding the market share held by the remaining companies. (Market shares are shown based on
shipments of 205.6 million cases in 2005 and 210 in 2006)
Based on the above market shares, we calculated the concentration ratio of the three big players and

The high barriers to entry are partially due to the fact that the beer industry is a relatively mature
industry and that the market is dominated by very well established leaders. Other factors
constituting barriers to entry are: an increased tendency for vertical integration (i.e the three largest
brewers each own subsidiaries to perform non brewing functions like grain elevators, milling, can
manufacture, labels, etc), advantages of economies of scale and a very intense price competition.
As a result, the new entrants are mainly microbrewers which are focusing on a new type of demand.
Production Inputs Big or small, companies in the beer market are competing for the same
resources and are affected by the prices fluctuations of their inputs. In the beer market, some of the
key inputs to consider in any economic analysis are grains, hops and yeast.
Strategy to succeed:
в–Є Market Leadership в–Є Expanded market share (internationally) в–Є Price Increase в–Є
Production efficiencies в–Є Recent differentiation Premium Price i.e. Anheuser Busch Michelob

Analysis of Proverbs 31
The Worthy Woman; what a title. Everyone who has some knowledge of the Bible has heard this
phrase. Almost anyone can name some catchy phrase or saying that is from the Bible whether it
is from the Psalms or Proverbs or any other book. We all know those verses that tend to get stuck
in our mind. However catchy they may be, unless one actually comes to an understanding of what
is being said and applies it to their lives, these catchy phrases can just be surface knowledge. Every
Christian can get caught in that trap. When someone is considering a Bible passage they should try

Lemuel s mother asks, An excellent wife who can find? The verses following that question give
descriptions of this most excellent wife that it seems nobody can find. This passage is not just
speaking to women, but to men also. Obviously, Lemuel s mother was talking to him, a man,
when speaking these words. Most people these days see it as a passage of characteristics women
should try to mirror. Not to say that that is not true, but this passage can also be read by men to
give them a picture of what kind of a godly woman they should be searching for. Many of these
qualities the woman possesses would be good for the man to possess too. The English word
virtue is what most Bibles have translated the original word describing this woman into. But,
according to Greenstone the original meaning of the word contains much more meaning. It
denotes energy, capacity, and goodness (333). The first six verses, starting with verse ten, have
this overall idea of her home and household and how she handles the needs of it. She is so good,
that her worth is more valuable than rubies (KJV). Rubies today are expensive, so they had to be
much more expensive in the days that this was written. So, basically she is priceless (v. 10). Verse
11 brings the husband into context stating that he trusts her so much that he knows he will never
lack gain. It does not just say that her husband

How Does Grendel Cause Hrothgar s Downfall
Character development is very important in character driven literature, where stories focus not on
events, but on individual personalities. Character development is a literary device that is used
step by step in literature to highlight and explain the details about a character in a story. And the
stories that move us most, the ones that stick inside years later, are those inhabited by characters
we can connect with and admire. And no characters resonate more than those who in the course of
a story learned how to either give in or overcome their own flaws and weaknesses to which they
are remembered for. The rocky path of personal growth and development a characterundergoes in a
story, usually unwillingly, during which the character wrestles... Show more content on

the factors contributing to Hrothgar s downfall are more complex. Grendel s razor sharp
assessments hit the nail right on the head: He had in his youth the strength of seven men. Not
now. He has nothing left but the power of his mind and no pleasure there: a case of knives. The
civilization he meant to build has transmogrified to a forest thick with traps (121). Not only has
he lost his muscle, he s lost his peace of mind as well. The king has become trapped by
everything he worked so hard to achieve. His bling, his solid rep, his fantastic crib, and even his

Warrior Gene Influence Human Behavior
In today s society, violence occurs every minute somewhere in some shape or form. It continues to
be a plague that causes humans humility, pain, and death. Both the scientific and criminal justice
fields have been stumped for years by the question of where does the influence of violence come
from? Nature versus nurture has always been one of the most prevalent arguments relating to this
topic. The nature argument is based on the belief that an individual s biology/DNA contributes to
their behavior, where the nurture argument believes that the environment one is exposed to is what
actually influences their behavior. According to Hickey, biological positivism was the method of
applying the scientific method to the task of determining who was a criminal (48). Criminologists
such as Franz Joseph Gall and Cesare Lombroso were among the first to propose... Show more

Advances in technology within the fields of medicine and biology have allowed researchers to

days is the study of the Warrior Gene. There is debate on whether or not the Warrior Gene has an
influence on an individual s behavior and if it can be used to determine if someone will commit
criminal acts. On one side you have those that claim the warrior gene can be related to
aggressive and violent behavior. In fact, humans with a low activity form of the MAOA

history of warfare (Hickey 49). The opposition claims nature and nurture are inexplicably linked
and that there is always an environmental component to human behavior (Hickey 49). The
question is, does a warrior gene make people more prone to violence? I will summarize the yes

The Catiline Conspiracy Essays
Sallust, Cicero and the Catiline Conspiracy
Both the histories of Sallust and the orations of Cicero can be considered literary works, to a
degree. The War With Catiline, by Sallust and The First Speech Against Lucius Sergius Catilina, by
Cicero, both contain excellent examples of writings from the age of the great Roman Empire.
Although both are fantastic pieces depicting a time of tragedy, the Catiline Conspiracy against
Rome, and they both think Catiline as evil, the two are also different.

It is incredible to think of the many men who sided with Catiline and took up arms against their
own state, their own people, and even at times their own fathers. Catiline, as evil as he might have
been, was also a man of genius. For one to poison the minds of so many takes much talent of the
mind. Based on greed and jealousy of his loss in the running for consul against Cicero, he alone
developed a plan to destroy Rome. Followers of Catiline justified their rebellion and treason by
claiming they wanted a change. These men were those who wanted to gain riches by pillaging,
and to free themselves of debt through anarchic chaos. Catiline s biggest mistake might have been
that he was all too blatant and outright about his plan. He seemed to have been careless in who
overheard his discussions and whom he told. This ultimately led his plans to be discovered. He fled
from Rome where he fought in battle until his death.
Sallust recounts the history of the Catiline Conspiracy with much detail concerning who was
involved and the specific actions taken by both the conspirators and the Senate. Sallust tells it
almost as an exciting story where the good is fighting the evil.
Cicero was a member of the Senate during the time of Catiline s Conspiracy. His life was

Research Paper On Traffic Engineering
Traffic engineering is that phase of engineering that deals with the planning, geometric design and
traffic operations of roads, streets and highways and their networks, terminals, abutting lands and
relationships with other modes of transportation for the achievement of safe, efficient and
convenient movement of people and goods.
Traffic flow, road geometry, sidewalks, crosswalks, cycle facilities, shared lane markings, traffic
signs, traffic lights, and more. All of these elements must be considered when designing public and
private sector transportation solutions.
Traffic engineering applies engineering principles that help solve transportation problems by
considering the psychology and habits of the transportation system users. Many people still
wonder why a traffic problem is so difficult that an engineer should be called upon for a solution.
Why not just install a traffic signal, or raise/lower the speed limit, or erect more signs?
One of the greatest obstacles a professional traffic engineer faces in applying sound principles of
traffic engineering is competing theories from vocal non traffic engineers who lack expertise. The
unfortunate result is the creation of traffic hazards when false theories are put into effect. ... Show

What Does The Button Baby Mean In The Great Gatsby
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 24, 1896. He is
famous for many short stories, many taking place during the Jazz Age and one specifically is
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Bruccoli 1). It is a work on which a baby is born an old
man and ages backwards. Fitzgerald wrote that he was inspired to write it by a remark made by
Mark Twain: It is a pity that the best part of life comes at the beginning, and the worst part at the
end (Lanham 1). In this short storyno one attempts to discover the reason for Benjamin s condition
or find a cure. Throughout his life he battles society and the social norms of the world. The Button
baby is born in 1860, at a time when most children were born at home. Fitzgerald starts off the

Task 2 Describe (P3) or explain (M1) the concept of energy intake and expenditure in sports

The concept of energy intake and expenditure refers to the amount of calories per day that an
individual consumes, and is the chemical energy in foods which can be metabolized to produce
energy available to the body. As stated before energy is obtained from the foods we eat and is used
to support an individual s Basal Metabolic Rate, energy is measured in calories or joules as both
units are very small they are multiplied by 1,000 and referred to as kilocalories. Different foods

The energy cost of football is estimated as being 16.4kcal per minute amounting to 1480 kcal for a

Task 3 Describe (P4), explain (M2) or analyse (D1) the importance of energy balance and their
effect on sports performance.
Energy is expended in a number of different ways such as the stated above; resting metabolic rate,
thermic effect of activity, thermic effect of feeding and adaptive thermogenesis. An individual s
energy balance is the balance of calories consumed through eating and drinking compared to
calories burned through physical activity, what an individual drinks and eat is energy in. what an
individual burns though physical activity is energy out. Body weight is maintained and stable in
the state of energy balance, the chemical bonds of carbohydrates, proteins and fats in food contain
chemical energy which is then transformed in the human body in multiple metabolic processes to
cellular energy, heat or stored energy. An individual s burns a certain number of calories just by
breathing air and digested food. They also burn a certain number of calories through their daily
routine, an important part of maintaining energy balance is the amount of physical activity an

themselves their needs to be like mindedness, this in fact is a type of censorship to the public. To
elaborate more on this, Nils Wessell describes from his journal called, Limited Freedom of the
Press A Discussion that in, today s sense that Freedom of the press has been lost also reflects the
absence of open conflict among elite groups. Only such conflict creates limited freedom of the
press. (Wessell, 46) This is an act of an authoritarian government; the reaction that it takes outside
this elite group on the public is an act of self preservation. In today s Russia according to Wessell
there is this full on authoritarian regime and it has begun to eliminate freedom of speech, and its
adversaries. (Wessell, 46) I take these points that he makes as a description of a beginning of a
relationship between society and its government. Democratic as Russia may seem to be
perceived, the movers and shakers of that nation actually have too much power in the hands of
few. I see the media, as an essential tool for a society to have a democracy, but in the contrary the
media can be an inappropriate tool to deceive the public if controlled few. Societies choices would
be based on controlled norms, where the definition of

Four Chaplains Analysis
The Four Chaplains, also sometimes referred to as the Immortal
Chaplains or the Dorchester Chaplains , were four United States Army
chaplains who gave their lives to save other civilian and military personnel as
the troopship SS Dorchester sank on February 3, 1943, during World War II.
Their names were George Lansing Fox, Alexander David Goode, Clark
Vandersall Poling, and John Patrick Washington. These men are significant
because they helped other soldiers board lifeboats and gave up their own life
jackets when the supply ran out. The chaplains joined arms, said prayers, and
sang hymns as they went down with the ship. Their backgrounds,
personalities, and denominations were different, although Goode, Poling and

These men taught me not to be so self centered and to see what
other people are going through instead of just focusing on myself. They also
made me realize that there is some good in the world, especially with
everything going on now in the world. These are some things that the four
chaplains taught me. Their feat represented a lot about America. First, it represented that we
work as a team other than on our owns. Second, it represents that we would
risk our own lives for each other. Many future young American Patriots can
learn many things about this tragic event. One thing that they can learn from
this event is how important it is to work together, and how important it could be
to have each other s backs. Another thing that they can learn from this event is
that no matter what culture, ethnicity, religion, or even gender that other
people are, you can trust them to have your back and that they should have
the same trust in you. This is what George Lansing Fox s, Alexander David
Goode s, Clark Vandersall Poling s, and John Patrick Washington s feat
represented about America and what future American Patriots can learn

powerful impact on the academic achievement and success of all children by viewing them as at
promise rather than at risk and preparing them to reach their full potential. Teaching strategies The
preliminary findings presented here suggest that when teaching a high stakes examination class,
teachers often select their test preparation strategies in ways that unconsciously reflect their
professional identities, identity meaning being recognized as a certain type of person in a given
context (Gee 2001, p. 99). Three such strategies are supplementary tutoring, drill and practice, and
reflexive pedagogical praxis. Beliefs teachers have about the fairness and the benefits of the high
stakes test, appears to be related in complex ways to the modes

Character Analysis Of Eleanor And Park
Eleanor, a character from the book Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, is a very complicated
character. Her seemingly pessimistic and self conscious approach to life can seem strange or even
incomprehensible, but when her character development and past experiences are more closely
considered, these views are much easier to understand. Her views are affected by three major
factors: her family s financial status, her abusive home life, and her endurance of constant bullying.
While there are multiple other motivations behind her perceptions, these three factors all help push
her to the state of internalizing much of her personal life, keeping it away from individuals she
finds herself closest to, including her boyfriend Park. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The second big factor that affects Eleanor s views and perceptions is her abusive home life caused
by her stepfather, Richie. Consequently, this leads to her having a constant fearof seemingly small
things and an unusually prominent want to keep her home life and her school life separate,
therefore causing her to keep many of her struggles to herself. An example of this is found on
page 151 in which an excerpt from the book states, Where would she go this time? Back to the
Hickman s? Hey, remember the time my mom asked if I could stay with you guys for a few
days, and then she didn t come back for a year? This excerpt demonstrates how she has an innate
fear of her stepfather and of being kicked out; as a result, she often avoids anything she even
thinks might anger Richie. Another example of her fear and isolation from her own home life is
a quote from the character Park, her boyfriend, on page 105 which states, She wouldn t talk about
her family or her house. She wouldn t talk about anything that happened before she moved to the
neighborhood or anything that happened after she got off the bus. Eleanor is very much a
character that keeps her personal life close. She bottles up her problems and fears instead of
sharing them with other close people, including Park. The last big factor that affects Eleanor s
views and perceptions is the fact that she must deal with

Analysis Of Daan Roosegaarg From The Air
There are no passengers on spaceship earth. We are all crew Marshall McLuhan ( A quote by
Marshall McLuhan ). That quote, by Canadian philosopher Marshall McLuhan, tells about how
humans need to all work together in order to keep earth habitable. Daan Roosegaarde used that
quote in his TED talk about ways to clear smog from the air by using giant vacuums. Additionally,
Argentine artist, TomГЎs Saraceno described a way of both cleaning up and creating new ways of
living during his TED talk. He talked about building bubbles made of plastic, that have been left
in the ocean, in order for them to raise up into the air and have people to live in them. Neither of
these men described ways of stopping the abuse of the earth, but instead lectured about ways to
clean up the pollution. Since both of these men are artists, they come up with creative ways to
benefit the world. While Saraceno s ideas are well meaning, Roosegaarde s design is just more
reasonable. In order to further understand the environmental problems facing this planet, it is
important to know just how bad the atmosphere is being polluted. The primary pollutant in the
atmosphere is carbon dioxide, and it is infecting the atmosphere at an outstanding rate. This carbon
dioxide goes into the air, and creates what is known as fog. Every second, 2.4 million pounds of
carbon dioxide is being emitted ( Carbon dioxide emissions rise to 2.4 million pounds per
second ). This number is still on the rise, with no real successful efforts to stop it yet. To enlarge
the scale, each year the carbon dioxide emissions rise to about one billion more tons than the
previous year. Because emissions of the key greenhouse gas have been rising steadily and most
carbon stays in the air for a century, it is not just unlikely but rather optimistic to think that the
world can limit future temperature increases to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) this
shows that there is a way to stop it, if all countries just work together to clean up our atmosphere
(Peters). In the first TED talk by Daan Roosegaarde entitled, A smog vacuumcleaner and other
magical city designs , he describes a way to clean up smog from the atmosphere (Roosegaarde). He

The Renaissance Period And Artemisia Gentileschi Of The...
Introduction
When one thinks of influential Western artists, images of the works of Michelangelo or
Caravaggio might be evoked. In fact, most paintings one may think of would have been
completed by men. Most of the art movements in the western world were in fact lead and
contributed to by men, especially in the Renaissance and Baroque period. Even though art as a
profession in these time periods was dominated by male artists, female artists did, in fact, make
significant contributions to their respective art movements. This paper will discuss and compare
the lives and works of two Italian painters: Sofonisba Anguissola of the Renaissance period and
Artemisia Gentileschi of the Baroque period.
Sofonisba Anguissola

Thanks to Sofonisba Anguissola s success and fame, the door had been opened for more women to
pursue a career in art, including Artemisia Gentileschi.
Artemisia Gentileschi
Thirty four years after Sofonisba Anguissola became court painter to Phillip II, Artemisia
Gentileschi was born in 1593. Unlike Anguissola, Artemisia Gentileschi was fortunate enough to
have a well established painter as a father. Orazio Gentileschi was a follower of on of the leading
Baroque painters Caravaggio, who s paintings utilized dramatic lighting and focused on the
narrative of his realistically plain characters. Orazio trained his daughter in Caravaggio s style
until he found that her talents surpassed his own. He then hired Agostino Tassi to take over her
training and to teach her perspective in 1611. However, Tassi raped Artemisia, falsely promising
to marry her afterward. Orazio sued Tassi for the rape of Artemisia and the theft of several
pictures. The trial lasted for five months, and Artemisia had to endure the thumb screw, a lie
detector test of the time. Tassi was found guilty and spent eight months in prison before being
released. Even though Tassi was found guilty, Artemisia was labeled as a licentious woman ever
since. It is speculated that this trial acted as inspiration for many of Artemisia s paintings, which
included subjects of heroic women.
Despite her tarnished reputation, Artemisia Gentileschi became one of the most

Mother Infant Dyads Completed All Aspects Of The Study Essay
Method
Twenty four mother infant dyads completed all aspects of the study. Of those 24, 18 were
Caucasian, 22 were married, eight of them had an annual family income of $50,000 to $74,999,
and seven had an annual family income of over $100,000. Also 16 of the participating mothers had
a graduate degree. Not only is the sample size very small, but the demographics of the mothers is
greatly disproportionate. With the majority of mothers being caucasian, educated, middle class,
married women, the sample size does not accurately represent the majority of the population who
lives in relative poverty and cannot afford to seek help. About half of the mothers had a history of
depression and were taking or had just started taking antidepressant medication when they first
enrolled. Considering the size of the sample, all the mothers should have been either prescription
drug users, or not, but not both. Prescription drug treatment for any depression significantly
changes perceptions of mood, skewing the results, and there is not enough women in the study to
make a concise prognosis.
To assess the mothers postpartum psychiatric difficulties the Postpartum Depression Screening
Scale (PDSS; Beck Gable, 2000) was used. Prior to treatment, mothers completed a self report
questionnaire packed comprised of the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI; Derogatis, 1993), the
Parenting Stress Index Short Form (PSI SF; Abidin, 1995), and the Maternal Self Report Inventory

Defected Peripheral Nervous System Essay
The injuries of nervous system affect many people every year and is estimated that spinal cord
injuries alone affect 10,000 each year. Nerve regeneration can be achieved by production of new
neurons, glia, axons, myelin, or synapses. There are differences between the functional mechanisms
of peripheral nervous system(PNS) and the central nervous system (CNS). PNS has an intrinsic
ability for repair and regeneration while CNS usually is incapable of self repair and regeneration.
There is currently no treatment for recovering human nerve function after injury to the CNS.
Although, PNS has self regeneration capacity, much research still needs to be performed for
optimizing the environment for maximum regrowth. Injury to PNS immediately elicits the
migration of phagocytes, Schwann cells, and macrophages to the lesion site in order to clear away
debris such as damaged tissue [56 60].... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally, two surface molecules including complement receptor type 3 (CR3) and galactose
specific lectin MAC 2 are involved in Wallerian degeneration process and consequently the
peripheral nerve regeneration. However, injury to CNS is not followed by extensive regeneration.
It is limited by the inhibitory influences of the glial and extracellular environment. The
environment within the CNS, especially following trauma, counteracts the repair of myelin and
neurons. Growth factors are not expressed or re expressed; for instance, the extracellular matrix
is free of laminin, so glial scars rapidly form and produce factors that inhibit re myelination and
axon repair. The axons themselves also lose the potential for growth with age due to a decrease in
the expression of

World Wide Yin and Yang
World Wide Yin and Yang The Chinese culture has a variety of religions and philosophies;
behind each one there is a core of theories and principles formed by its founders. The aspects of
the yin yang principal are the basis of the three major Chinese religions: Taoism, Confucianism,
and Buddhism. In China, people are aware of the importance of believing in the yin and yang
principles. The Encyclopedia of Sex and Gender states, the Chinese view yin and yang as
opposites, where yin is dark and yang is light. They are also known to be cool and warm, moist
and dry, and decay and growth. Each complements the other and individual change through stages

Without yin and yang, the Dao would not exist. They must constantly be in operation to remain in
equilibrium. If they were to be off in any way, the Dao would no longer be. All objects and beings
change, either as yin or yang in the completions of the Dao. The bond between the three
philosophies is known as the three truths. Over time, the Asian culture has integrated their many
beliefs; people of China follow Buddhism as one of the Three Truths , along with Confucianism
and Taoism (Wangu 13). The majority of Chinese practice Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism
at once. They believe they are all truths and see them to be complementary opposed to
contradicting. Proceeding on, Paula Hartz, confirms these truths, [...] the threads of
Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism have become intertwined, each absorbing aspects of the
others. As the Chinese say, the three teachings flow into one (12). Just as all things yin and yang
join as one, so do the three philosophies. Each of which contributes something that helps create
the Chinese way of life. If one were to look further, they would see Taoists, Confucians, and
Buddhists do not believe in a higher being or the immortality of souls, instead they feel that the
love of people is God (Hartz 13). All of the religions follow the same concept of looking up towards

Apicius Research Paper
This recipe, like many of those found in The Book of Apicius, is vague because it does not
describe in detail how this dish is prepared, nor does it give exact quantities of the ingredients
used, therefore it is open to interpretation. The notes that accompany this recipe state that it may be
a type of oysters stew and after doing some research I agree with this assumption. I learned that
soups and stews are made by thickening a seasoned liquid and cookingmeat, vegetables, or grains in
said liquid. In this recipe, egg yolk would be the thickening agent that turns the wine, vinegar, broth,
and other ingredients into a stew. From the Book of Apicius and my research I also learned that the
ancient Romans made numerous types of stews and soups

Compare And Contrast Princess Bride And Shrek
Often expressing love can be challenging. At times, different forms of love can be misunderstanding
such as mistaking lust for love. The book, The Princess Bride, written by William Goldman, and the
movie Shrek directed by Andrew Adamson, both portray individuals facing tough situations that
can only overcome through the power of love. Specifically, in both contexts, this is proven through
the characters, Westley and Shrek, and Princess Buttercup and Princess Fiona. Westley and Shrek
share similar characteristics. Both characters are rejected by society because they appear to be
unappealing and uneducated due to their low class status. In the book, Westley is originally known
as Farm Boy which indicates his status to be lower than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the class differences, the princesses want to be with the individual that proved to be
courageous and loyal in their time of saving. Princess Buttercup is forced to marry Prince
Humperdinck because he threatens to kill her if she does not go through with the marriage.
However once Princess Buttercup admits her feelings toward Westley in the beginning of the
book when she says, I love you. I know this must come as something of a surprise to you, since
all I ve ever done is scorn you and degrade you and taunt you, but I have loved you for several
hours now, and every second, more (Goldman,1987) Her true feelings for Westley are indicated
through this quote as she admits that even though she humiliates him, she is growing feelings
for him. However, Prince Humperdinck sees this as a rising conflict for his chance to marry
Princess Buttercup and evicts Westley leaving him close to death. Once Westley makes a
comeback and saves Princess Buttercup, they confess their love for one another. Similarly,
Princess Fiona also found what true love meant. As she waited to be rescued by a handsome
prince, she did not imagine her ideal rescuer to look like Shrek. However, she sees him as a warrior
and falls in love with him. In the movie, there is a scene

A Comparison Of Mark Twain And Mark Twain
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change
the world. As the world grew, Mark Twain and Langston Hughes became writers, poets, and so on.
With the knowledge that Hughes and Twain had, they made impacts on the world. However, the
ability that these two men had allowed them to be motivational historical figures. Still today, their
works and ideas for writing are still helpful to other writers. As writers, these two had fluent and
intellectual minds, they did not give up. So therefore, with Twain and Hughes being such prominent
figures with immaculate writing capabilities, their masterpieces can be compared.
Twain said, ...it is good to begin life poor; it is good to begin life rich these are wholesome; but to
begin it prospectively rich! The man who has not experienced it [poverty] cannot imagine the curse
of it ( Mark TwainFun Facts 2). As life started for Twain, he went through many obstacles. In
addition, Mark Twain started writing short stories that evolved over time. Not all people in the
world have the most wealthiest lifestyle, Twain, on the other hand, was born 2 months premature
and also had to deal with poor health for ten years of his life. Mark Twain had no one to turn to
for inspiration or motivation. Twain left school to become a printer s apprentice( Mark Twain

After a few days of court Hale visits several households without the courts authority, and goes to

states : And why not, if they must hang for denying it? There are them that will swear to anything
before they ll hang ; have you never thought of that? (69).
Hale knows that people will confess to anything to avoid being hanged, and he is deeply
troubled when he learns of Abigail s motifs for revenge. Respected people have told Hale that
the trials are non sense. He has tried to find holes in these people s reasoning, so he can be
reassured he hasn t made a big mistake in his aiding of the conviction of these people, but their
reasoning is completely logical. Hale becomes more aware of the truth near the end of Act II,
when Giles Corey and Francis Nurse report that their wives have been taken away. Reverend Hale
is surprised, but disturbed by the news because he thought of Rebecca as surely being innocent
when he met her. He says that, if Rebecca Nurse be tainted, then nothing s left to stop the whole
greenworld from burning (71). Hale then tries to explain her arrest by saying (in great pain) : Man
remember, until an hour before the Devil fell, God thought him beautiful in Heaven (71).
At this point Hale hopes that the trials are legitimate, and tries to account for unusual happenings,
but things just do not add up. The nail is put in the coffin in terms

gave good examples listed in your paper. You mentioned it is about having awareness of what an

levels of environmental consciousness depending on their sociodemographic characteristics (Ying

I agree the Internet is a great platform individuals are given to socialize and transfer information.
It has enhanced our environment worldwide. You mentioned a solider didn t have the accessible
resources to connect with he/she family, but in today s society that option is available for
Skype to visually connect over the internet. I found the internet of things has a major impact in
our future of mankind and on the daily life of the individuals, we are part of a world where
everything has the potential to be connected. As a matter of fact, it is estimated by garner that
by 2020, the installed base for the internet of things will exceed 212 billion and will be over 30
billion of connected things (Hucanu Georgescu, 2016). The examples of the soldier, gospel,
virtually around the world were great examples that you incorporated in your paper. I agree it s
important to protect the copyright laws. You mentioned individual earning royalty for their
music and it s important to ensure copyright with the music. I found this to be true because
Copyright in a song is different from many other works. Each song holds two copyrights: a
copyright in the sand recording and a copyright in the musical composition (Conte, 2017).
Fischer explains how we should follow rules and it shows respect. In Matthew 7:12 (ERV) says,
Do for others what you would want them to do for you . As it is so many creative people in the

  • 2. Advantages Of Collaborative Differing In Movies rated a movie that belongs to the comedy genre, then the system can learn to recommend other movies from this genre. Collaborative filtering: The simplest and original implementation of this approach recommends to the active user the items that other users with similar tastes liked in the past. The similarity in taste of two users is calculated based on the similarity in the rating history of the users. This is the reason why collaborative filtering is often referred as people to people correlation. Collaborative filtering is considered to be the most popular and widely implemented technique in Recommendation systems. An item item approach models the preference of a user to an item based on ratings of similar items by the same user. Nearest neighbors methods enjoy considerable popularity due to their simplicity, efficiency, and their ability to produce accurate and personalized recommendations. It can be used not only by developers, but also by page designers, who can now play a more direct role in the development life cycle. Another advantage of JSP is the inherent separation of presentation from content facilitated by the technology, due its reliance upon reusable component technologies like the JavaBeans component architecture and Enterprise JavaBeans technology. The purpose of JSP is to provide a declarative, presentation centric method of developing servlets. Typically, JSP pages are subject to a translation phase and a request processing phase. The translation phase is carried out only once, unless the JSP page changes, in which case it is repeated. Assuming there were no syntax errors within the page, the result is a JSP page implementation class file. The translation phase is typically carried out by the JSP engine itself, when it receives an incoming request for the JSP page for the first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Synthes Analysis Essay CASE ANALYSIS Synthes 1. Situation Analysis: A. Nature of Demand The products in discussion are bioresorbable internal fixation devices. These devices are surgically placed to stabilize broken bones, aiding in allowing the body to heal itself. Internal fixation devices in the past had been made of stainless steel or titanium, but with problems resulting from those permanent devices, an innovative approach is being considered. Bioresorbable implants are a possible replacement to the original implants that would eliminate the need for removal, which has shown to be a problem for traditional implants. The Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (AO) formed in 1958 to improve and standardize the state of internal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Competition, while present, is somewhat stable and not allowing many new entrants into the arena. While still competing with other companies such as Johnson Johnson and Biomet, Synthes sales are almost half of the entire trauma implant manufacturers. There is a small expected increase in sales, but the outlook for a substantial growth of new consumers does not appear to be definite. The client base is secure. Internal fixation devices as a whole are in the Competitive Turbulence stage, approaching Saturation. In 2000, Fractures that resulted in fixation devices neared 713,000 patients. The market as mentioned before had sales of roughly 540 million dollars, with an annual increase. Intelligence Focus is constantly looking for improvements The actual bioresorbable segment is in the Market development stage. Surgeons who have a large say in purchasing power of the products still need a great deal more information and trial before Although other companies have introduced first and second generation bioresorbables to strengthen market niche. Synthes participation in these efforts was minimal, as they focused primarily on improving their standard devices, staying away from the newer bioresorbable craze. First and Second Bioresorbables did not accelerate in sales as originally planned. The Product Life Cycle of the technology of the bioresorbables, a relatively new line in a mature technology ... • 4. Hollow Men Imagery This is an interesting work as it threw me in a loop trying to understand the imagery. His speaking of Hollow Men create an imagery of scarecrows with straw in their hats. He speaks of hollow men who are stuffed, seemingly contradicting himself in the first sentence until he mentions the hats filled with straw. He seemingly speaks of scarecrows as they represent the human form but are lifeless, empty, stuffed with hay. I am listening to the story these Hollow Men mean to tell me, they whisper so softly the narrator compares it to wind in dry grass or rats feet scurrying along over broken glass. The next part the Hollow Men describe themselves as shape without form, shade without color, paralyzed force, gesture without motion. Each of these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These others seem to acknowledge the Hollow Men as nothing more than scarecrows rather than what they really are. I learn here that the hollow men are in fact spirits or lost, violent souls. Our Hollow Men appear to have not crossed over, as if they re in limbo. Previously they are mentioned as something yet nothing, meaning that these hollow men are just people who have lost their humanity or the qualities that made them human. The Hollow Men are frightened to meet the gaze of the spirits who cross as if they think they are beneath these others. Until the Hollow Man tells me that the kingdom is unlike paradise, there is a tree swinging, and voices are in the wind s singing more distant and more solemn than a fading star. He seems to have a fixation on eyes as if they are important as he explains There, the eyes are Sunlight on a broken column . Now this imagery appeared to me as a fractured incoherent mess as it said eyes were like sunlight cast onto a broken column, but I came to the conclusion that the eyes see truth and truth can be mostly be compared to light as like light helps you see and understand so does truth. These eyes see the Hollow Men for what they truly are and the Hollow Men are terrified of the image they see. The Hollow Men live in an incomprehensible world and are terrified of knowing how things truly are so they stay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Economic Effects Of The Slave Revolution Slavery had an overwhelming impact on the political, social, and economical in the United States. Jamestown, Virginia in 1619, the first African slaves were brought into the United States. Reasons were because the tobacco, sugar, rice, and coffee fields were expanding which led to increase demand for labor. The Atlantic slave tradewas an inhuman systematic importation of slaves between the African traders, American planters, and the European merchants bargaining over human lives which led to the Middle Passage. 1675 1775, the slaves were the backbone of monoculture labor and so it was put into law to keep the Africans as slaves. So prevalent was this Italian operated slave trade that the word slave was derived from the word Slav, name for people from Slavic countries (Williams 3). In both seventeenth and eighteenth centuries the African American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. After the War of 1812, three historical processes unleashed by the Revolution, which were the following: the spread of market relations, the westward movement of the population, and the rise of a vigorous political democracy. The same steamboats and canals that were used by millions of famers to send their goods to the markets, also facilitated the growth of the slave based cotton plantations in the South. In the first half of the nineteenth century, the market revolution swept over the United States. Both the westward expansion and the market revolution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Logical vs. Physical Network Design Logical vs. Physical Network Design The typical Top Down approach to network design uses a systematic method to plan, design, and implement a new network. Generally, the Top Down methodology involves analysis of the business requirements and goals, development of the logical design based on such goals, development of the physical design, and a phase for testing, optimizing, and documenting the network design. This paper focuses on the activities performed to create a logical design of a network and then goes on to explain how the physical design is created. Logical Network Design It is difficult to discuss the principles of the logical design without first discussing the importance of planning and analysis. After all, the goal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also covers a portion of the logical design process of addressing the scalability requirements. Figure 1. A three layered hierarchal design model Physical Network Design Whereas the logical design of the network most accurately reflects the needs of the business by depicting network structure with regards to the organizational units and requirements, the physical design is more concerned with distance, cabling, and connectivity issues. Generally, a physical network is tied very closely with the building infrastructure and floor plan. It depicts the physical connections of the devices and no other relationships among them. In contrast, the logical network establishes the boundaries of subnets as a concept, not a physical connection, using switching and VLAN techniques. The physical network design would normally follow the logical design in a typical top down approach. The decisions made during the physical design of the network involve the implementation suggestions of specific equipment and technology. One such choice is the overall LAN technology such as Ethernet, FDDI, or Token Ring. The topology chosen in the logical design usually makes this decision apparent. Also, the determination of devices such as whether to use hubs or routers is made, how many are required, how many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was a so called rapist and killer, I became so interested in him I read newspapers and watched so many news reports on him. They never caught him so they only had sketches of what they thought he looked like...So it started when I was in my room listening to music on my IPod. You see I m not the kind of girl who obeys rules or respects anyone or anything. I don t care about consquences, I never really think things threw. After my usual night, I began walking home, seeing the same car as before I sped up my walk. When I got home, I didnt even change before bed. I just layed on my bed drifting off to sleep. He placed his hand over my mouth and I immediately woke up. I was terrified, I looked over at the window as it was wide open. I looked up at him, he seemed worried and scared. At that moment, I knew it was the guy from the club. This was the man on the T.V they called a killer. He yelled, Don t scream! All I could do was roll my eyes. I guess he liked the way I showed no fear because, he picked me up with me facing his back and climbed out the window. I thought he was a killer like the news said, but I wasn t afraid. He put me in the passenger side of the car I saw driving by my house. As we drove off, I looked back at my house saying goodbye one last time. Honestly, I was kind of glad he took me away. • 9. The St Columba Altarpiece By Rogier Van Der Weyden The St Columba Altarpiece (Columbia Triptych, c.1460), a three panel altarpiece by a well renowned artist Rogier van der Weyden s, is considered a powerful piece of art and has inspired many artists. Created approximately around 1460, it tells a narrative of the events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ. The Adoration of the Magi is the middle panel and perhaps the most famous piece among the three. It portrays the visit of the Kings to the newborn Jesus. Since it is an altarpiece, and portrays religious events, there is enough evidence to believe that the painting was commissioned by a church in St Columba, hence its name. • 10. The Gift Of Language In Fifteen Dogs By Andre Alexis In the novel, Fifteen Dogs by AndrГ© Alexis, Greek gods Hermes and Apollo make a bet that if they gave any animal the gift of intelligence, the animals would be even more unhappy than humans. In making this bet, fifteen dogs are granted the gift of intelligence allowing them to be able to communicate through their own newly formed language and become self aware. At first, the dogs band together to form a pack, but quickly realize how language complicates their ability to work together. With the gift of intelligence, the dogs become individuals and think separately rather than working with a pack mentality. There is no longer harmony between the dogs, but instead a fight for dominance and a battle of intelligence. We will identify how language eroded the pack through disagreements and violence as the dogs become aware of their status and differences. The dogs first run into difficulty with their gift of intelligence when it becomes obvious to them that there are different levels of comprehension of their ability to communicate using their new language. Prince is a dogwho shows a deeper understanding and love for language compared to the others. We see Alexis bring this point out in the novel when he says, Prince s words had not been meant as a warning. Rather, he had been playing. He had been pretending. He had been speaking for speaking s sake. Could there be a more despicable use for words? (28). Prince, being a very clever and curious dog, begins to expand the language, ... • 11. The American Revolutionary War ( 1775-1783 ) Essay The American Revolutionary War (1775 1783), was a war between the Kingdom of Great Britain and thirteen colonies on the North American continent. There was not a specific event that led to the Revolutionary War. American colonies wanted full democratic rights, but the British only saw them as colonies to be used and exploited. The British saw the colonies as economic entities that could pay for their own defense. Many of the colonists would have been willing to pay for their own defense. With the condition that they would have a voice when it came to making decisions. The British ignored the colonies demands. As a result, the British developed the separate and unique American identity. Over a ten year time period many colonists began to identify themselves as Americans. Once the American identity was defined, The American Revolutionary War became inevitable. After America won its independence from Great Britain, there was a need for unity among the new states. The needs for unity lead to the creation of The Articles of Confederation. These Articles represent the first constitutional agreement made between 13 American states. The Articles of confederation served as a written document establishing the functions of the government and the United States. The purpose of the Articles was to provide a general government of the 13 colonies that had won their freedom from British rule and to bring unity of the new states. The Articles of Confederation basically implied that every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The question that continues to stump people today, is how a marriage can last for years and even decades at a time. To understand a long lasting marriage and what makes one prosper, one must first look at the steps it takes to create the foundation of a healthy marriage. The ability to understand extremes is where researchers define the spectrum of normalcy. To begin with, one must figure out what it is that terminates a marriage. • 13. Relationship Between Economic Growth And Economic Development Introduction Economic development is a new concept that came about in the early twentieth century. Although, theorists argue that Karl Marx has alluded to the concept earlier in 1887 . Historically, the increasing importance of the concept can be traced back to the needs approach of the ILO , World Bank and Amartya Sen s Capability approach (Sen, 1993). Gerald Meier defines economic development as the process whereby the real per capita income of a country increases over a long period of time subject to the stipulation that the number below an absolute poverty line does not increase and that the distribution of income does not become more unequal . Wherein, there is evidently a strong relationship between economic growth and development. This essay analysis the concept of the two terms economic growth and economic development by examining their characteristic approaches. In turn, understanding the relationship between them. Economic Growth Economic growth aims at removing obstacles that could come in the way of increasing an economy s productive capacity, like removing market imperfections that exist in an economy. Supplying the missing components like capital, foreign exchange, technology, skills, and management, which is needed for improving an economy s productive capacity. Consequently, expecting that the increased capacity of the economy would somehow reach the masses. Economic Development Economic development, on the other hand, aims at increasing the ... But for those with an allergy to pollen, pet dander or other airborne allergens, there are a surprising number of things you can do to reduce your symptoms without medication. 1. Identify and avoid the allergen If you haven t yet identified what triggers your allergies, get tested and identify it. Once you know what the problem is, do what you can to avoid the allergen. You probably cannot avoid it 100 percent, but reducing exposure is the single best way to avoid having symptoms or get them down to a minimum. 2. Clean up If you are sneezing a lot, do a thorough cleaning of your home and/or office. Dust can contain pollen and other triggers. It is also a good practice to clean the filter on the AC and look for indicators of hidden mold. Think of this as the proverbial spring cleaning. You want to dust, wash... After conducting five trials, we were able to find the change in mass of the lead rod by using the spring constant formula of F=kx. After modifying the formula to solve for mass, we were able to find the change in mass for each trial by multiplying the spring constant and displacement of the lead rod in air versus water, then dividing by gravity. The average change in mass was found to be 9.38X10 4g. Once we had found the mass of the lead rod, we were able to find calculate the volume of the lead rod by modifying the buoyancy force formula to solve for the volume of the object. Five of these books are known as the major prophets while the other twelve books are known as the minor prophets. The prophets in the Old Testament are very important. The prophets spoke for God and were called by the Lord to do five specific things (Hindson Yates, 2012 p. 287). They were to tell the people to turn back to the Lord, remind people to conform to the Law, they were also to rebuild the nation and create a spiritual revival in the people as well as a regeneration in spiritual birth (Hindson, 2010, p. 123 124). Prophets were also given a very unique talent that they used for God. One of the most unique features of the true Old Testamentprophets was their ability to predict (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Biblical prophets speak to future events as though they had already occurred (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Though prophets are known for their ability to foresee the future, they also address issues that the Israelites were facing. The American MuslimCouncil has estimated that there are 2,000 mosques and Islamic community centers in the United States. More than 80% percent have been built in the past 12 years. Is it possible then that Islam, such an attractive and fast growing religion, can be completely flawed? Yes, the religion of Islam is filled with historical, scientific, and most importantly spiritual flaws. Answering this question is important because people are becoming more and more blind to the truth of the Christian religion by the rapid growth of Islam. Outlining the flaws of Islam also helps to bring out the accuracy of the Christian religion. How is it possible that Islam, the fastest growing religion, is so full of errors? Islam is growing so rapidly because many of its followers are unaware of the extent of its corruption, and many of its followers are equally unaware of how many errors can be found throughout the Quran. One way to show people the flaws in Islam is by slowly picking it apart and in so doing, the person is able to more clearly see the errors and parts of the Quran that do not match up with facts of history and ... Based on greed and jealousy of his loss in the running for consul against Cicero, he alone developed a plan to destroy Rome. Followers of Catiline justified their rebellion and treason by claiming they wanted a change. These men were those who wanted to gain riches by pillaging, and to free themselves of debt through anarchic chaos. Traffic flow, road geometry, sidewalks, crosswalks, cycle facilities, shared lane markings, traffic signs, traffic lights, and more. All of these elements must be considered when designing public and private sector transportation solutions. Traffic engineering applies engineering principles that help solve transportation problems by considering the psychology and habits of the transportation system users. Many people still wonder why a traffic problem is so difficult that an engineer should be called upon for a solution. Why not just install a traffic signal, or raise/lower the speed limit, or erect more signs? One of the greatest obstacles a professional traffic engineer faces in applying sound principles of traffic engineering is competing theories from vocal non traffic engineers who lack expertise. Her seemingly pessimistic and self conscious approach to life can seem strange or even incomprehensible, but when her character development and past experiences are more closely considered, these views are much easier to understand. Her views are affected by three major factors: her family s financial status, her abusive home life, and her endurance of constant bullying. Consequently, this leads to her having a constant fearof seemingly small things and an unusually prominent want to keep her home life and her school life separate, therefore causing her to keep many of her struggles to herself. An example of this is found on page 151 in which an excerpt from the book states, Where would she go this time? Back to the Hickman s? Hey, remember the time my mom asked if I could stay with you guys for a few days, and then she didn t come back for a year? That quote, by Canadian philosopher Marshall McLuhan, tells about how humans need to all work together in order to keep earth habitable. Daan Roosegaarde used that quote in his TED talk about ways to clear smog from the air by using giant vacuums. Additionally, Argentine artist, TomГЎs Saraceno described a way of both cleaning up and creating new ways of living during his TED talk. He talked about building bubbles made of plastic, that have been left in the ocean, in order for them to raise up into the air and have people to live in them. Neither of these men described ways of stopping the abuse of the earth, but instead lectured about ways to clean up the pollution. Since both of these men are artists, they come up with creative ways to benefit the world. While Saraceno s ideas are well meaning, Roosegaarde s design is just more reasonable. In order to further understand the environmental problems facing this planet, it is important to know just how bad the atmosphere is being polluted. The primary pollutant in the atmosphere is carbon dioxide, and it is infecting the atmosphere at an outstanding rate. This carbon dioxide goes into the air, and creates what is known as fog. Every second, 2.4 million pounds of carbon dioxide is being emitted ( Carbon dioxide emissions rise to 2.4 million pounds per second ). This number is still on the rise, with no real successful efforts to stop it yet. To enlarge the scale, each year the carbon dioxide emissions rise to about one billion more tons than the previous year. Because emissions of the key greenhouse gas have been rising steadily and most carbon stays in the air for a century, it is not just unlikely but rather optimistic to think that the world can limit future temperature increases to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) this shows that there is a way to stop it, if all countries just work together to clean up our atmosphere (Peters). Nerve regeneration can be achieved by production of new neurons, glia, axons, myelin, or synapses. There are differences between the functional mechanisms of peripheral nervous system(PNS) and the central nervous system (CNS). PNS has an intrinsic ability for repair and regeneration while CNS usually is incapable of self repair and regeneration. There is currently no treatment for recovering human nerve function after injury to the CNS. Although, PNS has self regeneration capacity, much research still needs to be performed for optimizing the environment for maximum regrowth. Apicius Research Paper This recipe, like many of those found in The Book of Apicius, is vague because it does not describe in detail how this dish is prepared, nor does it give exact quantities of the ingredients used, therefore it is open to interpretation.
