2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Person Focused Pay Programs
Although, person focused pay programs present many advantages, there are some highly significant
disadvantages to person focused pay programs. The main disadvantages are person focused pay
programs can encompass increase in hourly labor, training, and overhead costs, the system s many not
connect and interlock well with existing incentive pay systems, they depend on well designed training
programs, and because companies have a problem with determining the monetary value of skills and
knowledge (Martocchio, 2013).
Some obvious disadvantages of person focused pay systems that need to be considered. The first is the
pay rates they tend to produce. The very essence of the system encourages individuals to become more
valuable to the organization. This conveys that they have to be paid more than they would under a
traditional pay system that limits growth, development, and therefore, value.
Hence, person focused pay systems typically have higher average hourly wages than traditional pay
systems. Since skill based pay systems give everyone the opportunity to learn multiple skills, a large
investment is made in training and, of course, training is costly in terms of paying trainers and losing
production time. Furthermore, the more serious problem is that when individuals are constantly
learning new jobs, production losses and problems result because inexperienced people are performing
the work. Because employees are always trying to leam new skills under this kind of pay system,

3. Foucault s Panopticon
Foucault believed that knowledge is a form of power, and that ultimately, through observation you
gain power. This main idea allowed for him to realize that, once applied to the real world, knowledge
is the most powerful tool one can have. It is evident that Foucault essentially believed that with
knowledge, one can control everything around them. Furthermore, having the power to discipline and
society. The concept of panopticism developed from the idea of disciplining society. The panopticon
was an architectural design with the main purpose of being able to have visibility on everyone that
was incarcerated. Prisoners were held in cells, which surrounded a main tower controlled by either a
general guard, or the person who upholds the power. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bartky uses the idea that over time, women have slowly been breaking out of the power that men had
over them. They have somewhat freed themselves from being monitored and controlled by men. This
relates to panopticism in that the panopticon was essentially created in order to have full regulation
and oversight over prisoners, in this case, women. Disciplinary practices were being ensured in order
to have society (women) constantly productive as well as under control by a power figure. Ultimately
requiring people to behave properly and according to conduct which in turn, controlled their minds as
well as their bodies. In terms of modern surveillance, women are constantly being watched by men
even when they do not know of it. This is a disciplinary practice set by the norms society has created
for women, which is also known as the male gaze, essentially creating the docile body. Foucault s idea
of panopticism produced his concept that these disciplinary practices create docile bodies which in
essence means that people are being made into subjects. Bartky uses this to explain that this has much
to do with women and how they are being currently objectified in every way possible. An example of
this, is how women are being made objects for men in the media in order to make them look desirable.
This grants men all the

7. Impact Of The Industrial Revolution On The World Essay
Since the first time an image was transported to a laptop screen or a handheld device was used to
communicate to people in other countries, the world has been a system of calls, emails, texts, and
networks that are all categorized under the term technology. We started off with technology that
helped us forage for food or manage our livestock. However, tech today is a basis of
telecommunications and the use of different mechanical mechanisms that are seemingly robotic. How
far we have come from the beginning of the first civilizations to what we are able to do now illustrates
the impact of the industrial revolution and, some may say, tech revolution. We are still booming and at
every corner that is turned new advancements are introduced into society that was not thought about
before. It seems that we should be all tech savvy and a life without technology would be a little
unnerving to say the least. Others say that this dependence makes robots or us less human. Throughout
the research conducted on technology, there were news articles assumingly concluding that we are
humans merging with technology and turning into robots and another similarly arguing that we need
to become cyborgs or risk humans being turned into robots. These may not be scholarly articles but
are interesting to see and notice the perspective that people believe to be true. The extremely absurd
notion that we are so heavily dependent on technology that we will turn into robots may actually be
true.

11. The Challenges of Taking Dell Private
By exploring the possibility of going private, Dell appears to hope that it can finally fix the problems
that have led to a 40 percent plunge in stock price over the last five years.
There s one problem, however: Going private may not be all that easy or help out the company in the
end.
The effort is under way, people briefed on the matter have confirmed to DealBook, with Dell talking
with private equity firms and exploring obtaining bank financing. It s unclear how long it will take to
reach a completed deal, though reports have suggested it may take nearly two months.
But a leveraged buyout of a company as big as Dell would be no small feat, and it would be dependent

could be as low as 8 percent. Avoiding the tax man could bolster that return to 31 percent.
(That may less of a problem, according to the investor Wilbur L. Ross, who told CNBC on Tuesday
that the company could sell eurodollar bonds, which may avoid incurring a steep tax charge.)
Dell also had almost $5 billion in long term debt as of Nov. 2. That means the newly private company
would be highly indebted, though analysts at the ISI Group and Mizuho point out that the company
has respectable cash flow, generating about $3.7 billion in cash from operations during that time.
The bigger question for the company is whether going private would solve any of the issues it has
faced for years. Its traditional business of making and selling personal computers has become less and
less profitable, and Dell has already been trying to move into the more lucrative and stable market of
providing hardware and software services for corporations. That s not something that requires Dell to
be private, however.
And there s also the question of whether a newly private Dell, forced to spend much of its revenue on
paying down its debt, would have money to invest in its business or pay for new acquisitions. (Last
year alone, the company struck 10 deals, including the $2.4 billion purchase of Quest Software.)
Mr. Ross said on CNBC that he believed the chances of a deal coming together were about 50 50. But
there s still a lot of work and finagling

13. Realism And The Theory Of Realism
Introduction
The idea of Realism was unofficially was created in fifth century BC by Thucydides, and continued
through Niccolo Machiavelli. This lead to the first official IR theory of realism in Thomas Hobbes,
amd Hans Morgenthau, known as Classical Realist. From there Classical Realism evolved to the ideas
of Kenneth Waltz, which brought along the ideas of neo realism or structural realism theory. Then
came offensive, defensive, and neoclassical realism. Overall the main idea of realism is defined by
internationalrelations.org as when looking at the political system, or more specifically, the
international system, realists focus their ideas about how international relations work based upon the
concepts of power and security. ( Realism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ranges from military presence to business presence. These countries want a piece of Afghanistan
politics. This analysis of Realism will use this situation as an example of why these countries are

System and Power
A system, from a neorealist point of view is described by Waltz as A system is composed of a structure
and of interacting units. The structure is the system wide component that makes it possible to think of
the system as a whole. Waltz furthermore goes into how to define a structure A structure is defined by
the arrangement of its parts. (Waltz, 1979) Bringing the neorealism theory that looking at politics,
structure is the arrangement of the states, not the collection of them. This leads in to the neorealism
idea that there is no central authority, and the world depends on balance (Sterling Folker, 2013). That
the one thing structure or balance depends on is the states, not NGOs or other actors. From a classical
realism perspective according to Morgenthau s It is a characteristic aspect of all politics, domestic as
well as international, that frequently its basic manifestations do not appear as what they actually are
manifestations of a struggle for power . (Morgenthau, Thompson Clinton, 2010) Morgenthau is saying
that states are power seekers, and strive for dominance which is

Poland has also restricted the sale of Gioco computer games arguing that they encourage bad behavior
which can be bad for the user s health. In considering this, public health is an obvious ground.
However, there must be evidence of a real risk and measure must be proportionate to that risk. The

Arjuna is faced with an internal dilemma during the Second Discourse of the Bhagavad Gita, and
although the God Krishna seeks to help guide him towards an understanding of the meaning of his

fighting in a civil war against family relatives, having to kill those Arjuna cares most about, or
abandoning his dharma as a warrior and jeopardizing fulfilling his duty the greater Self that plays such
a pivotal role in his people s culture and beliefs. While advocating for the battle and fulfilling one s
dharma, Krishna utilizes the point that the Self an overarching force in life is a formless, eternal entity
that cannot die and is more than the mere vessels that encompass the human beings across the
battlefield. It is more important to the greater vitality of one s existence to complete a duty to the Self
rather than live with the temporary benefits of living in what may appear to be a more pleasurable life,

The first few lines contain morbid diction such as churn , dark , and smashing in order to set up a
negative tone so that the true value of the tree that is later realized can be emphasized as much as
possible. For example, Oliver later writes that the speaker and her mother feel something brighter that
money moving in their blood, something calling them to dig and sow. The words dig and sow are so
much more positively moving than the negative words in the previous lines, for they call the speaker
and her mother to action while they don t do anything in a period of inaction. Through the previously
mentioned honor of their forefathers, the speaker and her mother are motivated to dig and sow a better
life for their future. Much like crops and trees that only yield fruitful results after a long growing
season, the speaker and her mother become momentarily inspired by all the family heritage and labor
that the walnut tree represents to do something more productive than sitting around and debating on
whether or not to sell their tree. Through the lengthy decision process with the speaker, her mother,
and their tree, Oliver illustrates an example of the money acquired from a quick financial gain being
much less valuable than the potential wealth available through hard work inspired by a symbol of

most popular OSs can refer to Fig. 1. The result shows that Windows 7 was the most popular OS from
October 2014 to October 2015. The next most popular six operating systems were Windows 8.1,
WinXP (WinXP had no longer renewed by the time this paper was writing), Mac OS X, Windows 8,
Windows Vista and Linux. In order to confirm our finding, we further analyzed statistical data from
another web company netmarketshare. It is a website that could provide users the market share of
different operating systems, web browsers etc. The result for different operating systems of their
market share from October 2014 to October 2015 was shown in fig. 2. (For more information about
the statistical results, please refer to their websites: https://statcounter.com/ for our first figure and

24. Pit And The Pendulum Irony
The Pit and the Pendulum The Pit and the Pendulum , is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe in
1842, describing a person in the most dire of situations, awaiting death in a pit. The story is set during
the time of the Spanish Inquisition, where the narrator has been sentenced to live in a pit and await
death. During this time he continually wonders what will happen to him, until looking up, awaking
from a drug induced sleep, he sees a swinging scythe, positioned directly over his heart, dropping at a
crawling rate. The narrator barely escapes the pendulum, then runs and almost falls into the pit, before
being saved by a French General. Although there are both instances of physical and psychological
torture in the story, the psychological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I gasped and struggled at each vibration. I shrunk convulsively at its every sweep. My eyes followed
its outward or upward whirls with the eagerness of the most unmeaning despair; they closed
themselves spasmodically at the descent, although death would have been a relief, oh! how
unspeakable! (Poe 27). All the narrator can do is wait for his death, and his wait allowed him time to
think. His thoughts wandered, beginning to lean on the possibility of escape, and that frustrated him
because he knew hope was lost. Hope was lost, until a last resort plan arrived in his thoughts; to coat
the rope in food so the rats would chew through it, and allow him time to escape from the swinging
scythe of death. His plan prevailed, and he escaped, only to be confronted by the pit again, by the
quickly enclosing room, but this time the narrator was saved by the French General Lasalle. His
torture was over, just as the inquisition was over. Throughout the Pit and the Pendulum, Poe uses
various symbols of psychological torture to create fear and hopelessness in the narrator, which is
achieved through two main symbols of the pit and the

27. Louisville Flood Victims By Margaret Bourke-White
Description:
Margaret Bourke White. Louisville Flood Victims. 1937. Photograph.
Analysis:
Margaret Bourke White utilizes the actual horizontal lines of the billboard, as well as the implied lines
of the people s heads. The repetition of the people along with the faces on the billboard, forcefully
move the attention horizontally to the right of the photograph. This, in turn, makes the viewer
anticipate what is coming next. Although we know that the people are in a state of motion, there is a
sense of stillness as if the moment will never end. At first glance, the balance appears to be somewhat
symmetrical, but looking further, one notices the small cluster of children in the bottom left corner,
casting the balance as asymmetrical. It also appears as if there is a downward slope going from the
furthermost right, to the furthermost left of the image. The colors seem varied and dark, contrasting
the coats of the individuals with the stark white bags, and the intrusive bright colors of the billboard,
this creates a contrast in the mood of the apparent glee of the billboard, with the traumatic expressions
of the individuals. Although black and white, the image uses a wide range of light and dark, going
from the bright white of the bags and billboard, to the deep darks of the coats and few of the glum
faces. In between these two extremes, there are varying shades of light and dark in the billboard and
surrounding scene. Finally, the emphasis is placed on the people, the victims of the Louisville flood. ...

31. Taking a Look at Website Optimization
Website optimisation plays an important role in web development and maintenance. In this article, we
look at some basic website optimisation tricks one can use to help increase a site s search engine
ranking and increasing the traffic. Meta Description, Meta Keywords and Title tags are still used by
some search engines in order to catalog and rank Web pages. So, at the top of each page, place a title
tag to identify the document s overall content. It is also important to write an accurate Meta
description tag. Also, add a Meta keyword tag to help reveal the most important keywords for each
page to search engines. To make your website perform well with search engines, use keywords on the
Home and other essential pages. It s important to use these keywords strategically throughout the
website s content. Try and focus on areas that register well with search engines (this also includes bold
headings). Embed keywords in the anchor text and try to use keywords to create a common theme or
topic throughout the content on your website. The reason for this is that search engines look for a
theme on a website to produce more relevant results. If you re not sure what keywords to use,
softwares like WordTracker can help. Remember that keyword proximity is also crucial for website
optimisation. So make sure to place your keywords as close to each other as possible, but also make
sure that the content remains clear. Most importantly, ensure an apt keyword weight or density. This

32. 3d Printing And Its Effects On The Economy
According to techrepublic.com, the popularity of 3D printing is expected to grow up to 75 percent
within the next year which will create a huge rise in popularity of the new technology. Because of this,
a new market of 3D printing will begin to grow and emerge very rapidly due to curiosity which makes
this new technology a huge effecting factor on the economy. 3D printing is the process of additive
manufacturing which creates objects by using a nozzle with a ABS plastic filament, melting the
plastic, and layering the plastic in the appropriate locations in order to create an object. Though it is a
relatively simple process, it takes a lot of calibration and fine tuning and the end result can be
breathtaking. Because of the rapid growth and popularity of this new technology, many different
people, commercial manufactures to household families, are curious to get their hands on a 3D printer.
Since the technology is bound to change the way people and businesses handle daily tasks, 3D
printing may have some negative economic effects such as hurting international trade with other
countries and harmful health effects due to the chemicals used in the printing process. Though these
are harmful to the economy, there are even more positive effects such as helping provide clean water
for 3rd world countries, producing customized products for less money, and creating extra educational

Hafu is the term used in Japan to describe children of half Japanese descent. This term is derived from
the English
Half which, when used in the Japanese language, indicates that a person is only half of the Japanese
culture. According to Hafu Japanese the term Hafu originated in the 1970s and is now the most
commonly used label for half Japanese children (Hafu Japanese, 2010). Being called half might seem
like an insult to some people, in Japan it is not really meant this way. In a YouTube video Japanese got
asked about what image they have about Hafu, most of them answered that they wanted to be a Hafu

have the best of both worlds. The majority of the Japanese seem to have positive views on what it is
like to be a Hafu, but they might not have a proper understanding of what it is like to be Hafu. So
despite the positive image the Japanese have, life in Japan is not easy for people with mixed roots

Allocated school and class time, instructional time, and academic learning time. Allocated school and
class time are hours of non instructional activities. Instructional time should be devoted to formal
instruction and learning, but not with poor teaching inattention. Lastly, is academic learning time
when the students are actually learning. The important and obvious distinction makes in clear why and
extended time proposal must focus on providing the kind of time such as instructional and academic
time, rather than just adding hours in general. Extending and improving the use of instructional time
could undoubtedly benefit all students. But studies suggest that extended time may matter more for
some students than others. Poor and minority students are less likely than their more affluent peers
that benefit from resources out of school. Evidence from the beginning school study (BBS), a long
study that began in 1982 by sociologists Doris Entwisle and Karl Alexander, shows that lower income
lose ground to higher income children over time because of what researches call summer learning
loss.
Some strategies for extending learning is more beneficial than others. Most calculations suggest that a

39. Synthesis Of Tio 2 Nanoparticles
INTRODUCTION
In nature Titanium Oxide exists in three primary phases, namely, Anatase, Rutile and Brookite. In each
case the sizes of different cells vary.[1]
In recent years TiO2 has been widely used for preparation of various and varying types of
nanomaterials such as nanoparticles, nanorods, nanowires as well as nanoporous TiO2 containing
materials.[3] Regardless of its scale Titanium Oxide maintains its photocatalytic activity. Nanoscale
TiO2 has an advantage of being surface reactive that fosters its interactions with biological molecules,
such as phosphorylated proteins and peptides [4] as well as nonspecific binding with DNA [5].
The surface molecules of nanoscale TiO2 particles are on the corner of the particle and are forced by
confinement stress into a pentacoordinated, square pyramidal orientation. Such molecules have an
affinity for stable nanoparticle conjugation to ortho substituted bidentate ligands such as dopamine.
[7,8]
The various methods used for the synthesis of TiO 2 nanoparticles include sol gel, solvothermal and
hydrothermal methods[3], although new methods are now being used. One of the new methods is the
use of different dopants in the synthesis of Titanium oxide nanocomposites, such as the different noble
metals[11]. Also different nanoparticle coating materials and photosensitizing dyes.[13 17]
In this paper the various applications of TiO 2 nanocomposites are briefly summarized. Some of the
major applications of TiO2 nanocomposites are in

software industry at that time. The methodology was invented by the employees of Toyota
Corporation as a project management tool. It was aimed at improving the quality of production and
minimizing the terms of its delivery. In 1940s delivery of certain production to the customer just in
time was a great problem. The companies that implemented Kanban project management system
performed this task successfully regardless of the conditions.
The success of Kanban methodology can be explained by the fact that it is based on three main
principles.

different for the children at Hailsham. The children who attend Hailsham are clones, who have had
their entire future planned out for them by society, to donate their vital organs for humans who need
them. Even though this may seem like a terrible situation to be born into, the clones do not try to
change their fate, and accept it with little resistance. One of the reasons that they accept this as their
fate, is that they are simply raised with the idea, therefore it is all that they know, it is normal for them.
Also, they do not have the proper upbringing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
