Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies
Essay
Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by
software developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this
is simple: if you want to make sure something is well built, you must design it well
first, then put it together using reliable tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or
tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout decades, the methods of up
front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products often made
for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other. For this type of
environment, more dynamic methods are required, which is why XP suits as a
viable candidate. How design is altered from the traditional up front design method

reveals all the intentions , on the other hand, makes sense under the following train
of thought: if something is simple, it is easy to understand, and therefore all or
most intentions are clear to the observer. does not have duplicated code seems to
make things easy to understand, but may not necessarily simplify a program.
Finally, has the fewest number of classes or methods seems to be the most pertinent
to the concept of simplicity. If a system consists of less functional elements than
another one but holds the same product, it could be considered simpler. Following
this definition, a system that contains the least amount of functional elements than
any other, but holds the same product, could be considered simplest. Other than a
few definitions of simplicity, Fowler mentions YAGNI, an acronym he claims is
one of the ...greatest rallying cries in XP... (Fowler). It stands for You Aren t Going
to Need it (Fowler). The idea is summed up by Fowler as a method to only program
what is currently needed for the project. This is supposed to allow easy changes to
be made when needed. An example: consider the scenario where a calculator is being
programmed. Its design incorporates addition and multiplication . Whilst
implementing addition , it may seem logical to add some of the multiplication
features to reduce the amount of future work. Suddenly the client decides to replace
multiplication with division . multiplication now has to be removed or

John Ellis Jeb Bush is a politician and businessman born on February 11,1953 in
Midland, Texas. He is the son of George H. W. Bush, 41st president of the United
States of America, and brother to George W. Bush, 43th president of the United
States of America. Recently, Bush has decided to follow in his family s footsteps
and run for president. He is in the Republican Party alongside Donald Trump, Ben
Carson, Chris Christen, and may others. Regarding on why he has decided to run,
Bush says he is prepared to fix America and show Congress how he s prepared to
use a veto against needless spending. He pledged to change the self serving attitude
in Washington. I was a governor who refused to accept that as the normal or right
way of conducting the people s business, he said. I will not accept it as the standard

Analysis Of Johnson Johnson And Johnson Company Essay
When seven people in Chicago died from cyanide laced Tylenol tablets in 1982,
Johnson Johnson (JNJ) responded in a manner that not only saved the company s
future, but also saved lives (Knight, 1982). JNJ reacted to the shocking news of the
over the counter drug related deaths with compassion, urgency and honesty. JNJ
aimed at showing the public that the company was as much of a victim as the
consumers were, and vowed to resolve the issue and keep the media and consumers
involved and aware, as per the company credo (Our Credo; Rehak, 2002). JNJ s
timely response set a precedence by which public relations practitioners would model
and businesses would strive to achieve. Background
General Company Background In 1886, Robert Wood Johnson, Edward Mead
Johnson, and James Wood Johnson formed Johnson Johnsoncompany and quickly
expanded the company in the late 19th century (Johnson Johnson History, n.d.). The
company created products that were aimed at improving health and personal hygiene
and published books and manuals that instructed sterile surgery methods, wound
treatments and women s health care (Johnson Johnson History, n.d.).
JNJ began the practice of providing money and supplies for disaster relief in 1900
when the company assisted victims of a hurricane in Galveston, Texas (Johnson

During the early 20th century, Johnson Johnson released new products and medicinal
products while expanding their international presence in regions such
The Components Of Linux And Windows Systems
Today, many people rely on computers and other devices to simplify and
convenience their lives. Most users do not even consider the complexity that allows
the device to operate. And staggeringly, every electronic item we use today has
some sort of functioning operating system to allow it to carry out its objective task.
A computer operating system is one such program that has rapidly evolved to simply
the use and capabilities of computers. Two widely known and used operating systems,
Windows and Linux, are contending for the user market and have transformed over
the years and do their best to offer what the user is demanding. Initially the
differences between Windows and Linux were like night and day. Now, as time goes
on, the things that set them apart have become blurry. What really separates these
two is what lies deep in the coding to make the operating system more efficient,
secure and user friendly.
Assessing the differences and similarities between the components of Linux and
Windows systems, a user can decide which system would best meet their needs. The
architecture of the kernel and how it operates can play a factor for security and
efficiency. The visual aspect and workability with the Graphical User Interface(GUI)
or command interface can employ ease of use or offer streamlined productivity. Then
lastly, looking at the statistical data regarding Total Cost of Ownership and general
popularity by actual use and preference will be compared.

Legally Blonde As A Hero
If I were offered a role for a hero or villain in any movie, I would choose to play Elle
Woods in Legally Blonde. Although confusing at first, the finer points of
development and power that emanate from this character are all values that I hold
dear to my heart. As an unconventional character she radiates principle, conviction,
and autonomy all while upholding her traditionally feminine personality traits and
never falling into the stereotypical qualities that are pushed on her.
At the beginning of the movie, Elle is a ditzy but quick witted sorority girl who goes
on a mission to get her ex back by following him to Harvard Law School. At first, she
s not taken seriously by anyone her parents, her ex, her peers, and her professors but,

Comparison Of Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
In the Baz Luhrmann version of Romeo and Juliet he modernised many scenes
such as the balcony scene (pool scene), fight scenes and tomb scene. The scenes
aren t the only thing that is modernised the costumes and props are also
modernised. The pool scene which is known as the balcony scene in the play has
been modernised by adding an elevator in which Juliet came down and meet
Romeo. this is done so the audiences can relate to the scene. During the movie there
are about 4 5 fight scenes in which all have guns, but in the play it would be fought
with swords. The petrol station fight scenes are modernised by setting it at a petrol
station, but in the play it is in the town square At then end of the movie Romeo goes

The filmmaker is sympathetic to the Homestead strikers. Within the first four
minutes of the film, there are many good things being said about the workers and
the growth of the town of Homestead because of them. In The River Ran Red, the
speaker goes on to talk about how every working man in should be able to support
their family. The workers in Homestead were able to support their families and
actually participate in the government. In most other town s the company s treated
the workers poorly, but in Homestead the workers played a big role in the decisions
of their working conditions. Although the work was still dangerous they had a strong
labor union. The labor unions were strong until the making of steel. With the making

The Lakota Sioux Of The Sioux Nation
Of all the features upon the earth there are some ascribed with special significance.
These features, whether caves, lakes, deserts, outcroppings, or something else
entirely, hold tremendous relevance for the groups that dwell near them. Such beliefs
in the worth and importance of such sites are entrusted from one passing generation
to the next. These beliefs, and the physical objects they rest upon, become
increasingly vital to that group s identity as a people. One such group is the Teton
Lakota of the SiouxNation in South Dakota, an area that has been home to them for
hundreds of years and, while their entire homeland is precious to them, of particular
importance are the Black Hills, or Paha Sapa as they are called in Lakota.
The Black Hills are an isolated mountain range rising 3000 to 4000 feet above the
surrounding plains of South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana (Sundstrom et al.
1996). The importance of this land to the Sioux Nation goes beyond dedication to
the place they have lived in for generations. The Lakota creation story itself
incorporates the Black Hills in particular as central to their identity as a people.
The Black Hills are not only regarded as the birthplace of Sioux culture in religious
songs and legends, but as the first place created on Earth literally the heart of the
Earth, which is seen as Mother. Sioux spiritual lore utilizes metaphor both to explain
and to embody the thing signified the Black Hills are the heart of the Earth, and that

George Gershwin s When You Don T Get Em
George Gershwin George Gershwin was an American composer that was born in
1898 in Brooklyn, New York. He began his musical career in music stores as a song
plugger ; working for music publishing companies by playing piano to promote and
try to sell the new sheet music that the store had. Shortly after, Gershwin began to
write and publish his own songs. He had his first song published in 1916 at the age
of 17. The song was called When You Want Em, You Can t Get Em, When You ve
Got Em, You Don t Want Em and it earned him only $5, a mere third of a week s
pay as a song plugger. Gershwin gained success in the musical realm when he
collaborated with lyricists such as Buddy DeSylva and, most importantly, his brother

Asexual Reproduction Is Common Among Living Things
Asexual reproduction is a style of reproduction which offspring are formed by a
single organism, and inherit the genes of one parent only; unlike sexual
reproduction, which requires the genes from two parent organisms in order to
create an offspring, asexual reproduction occurs when a single organism. This
causes the offspring to almost a duplicate of the one parent it inherits its genes from.
Asexual reproduction is done externally and it commonly used by sea creatures like
seahorses, Parthenogenesis, Copperheads, coral, sea anemones and starfish. It is
also used in some plants like for example strawberries, potatoes and onions. And it is
used by decomposers like fungi and bacteria. Asexual reproduction is common among
living things and takes a variety of forms.

also serves to help contain water for very dry conditions. The crown contains buds
from where new stems sprout from, it also acts as a container which stores of starch,
that can support a period of growth in the absence of photosynthesis. It is found
commonly in Australian flora, in resilience to the high possibility of bush fires that

Why The Rich Should Pay Higher Taxes
What do you think would happen if the rich paid more taxes? Would there be a
better economy or would it be worst, maybe even stay the same. Increasing the
taxes would help out our economy in a few ways. one way that it would help out
our economy is that not only would there be less of a concentration of profit at the
top of our social ladder there would be more revenue for the funding of civil union
jobs. Also not to mention causing the bigger corporations to have to pay more so
they would be unable to escape with the majority of the illegal activity they do
today. Lastly if the government were to crack down on offshoring it would help with
collecting taxes and the money would return to the people and back into circulation
for our economy. Here are some reasons why the rich should pay higher taxes.
One of the obvious reasons to raise the taxes of the rich would be because they
simply earn more. One example is if two people started the year off with fifty
thousand but then let us say one had a rich family member that died and they had
received millions through a will, then say they received a gift of one billion by the
end of the year they pay the same taxes even though one of they are now a billionaire
(Cohen). The reason is that the government does not tax on gifts or wills so then they
would not have to pay more taxes if they received a gift that had consisted of a large
sum of cash (Cohen). Now there is a large chunk of change out of circulation and
now the middle/lower
Essay on The Deportation of Acadians
Colonists from France came to Canada and settled in Acadia also known as present
day east coast colonies during the seventeenth century. The name given to the French
colonists from the time of arrival to Canada was the Acadians . The Acadians from
France continued their formal lifestyle by farming, fishing and maintaining a close
family oriented culture in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Islandand New
Brunswick. The Acadians had created a prosperous agriculture economy up until the
late eighteenth century, when there was a colonial struggle in power between the
French and the British. British had conquered Port Royal and the Acadians refused to
recognize British rule, wanting to keep their religious freedom and not wanting to...

Activities such as fishing, mining, and agriculture were ways in which the east
coast had an abundant of resources. Fish, salt and livestock were the food the
Acadian s relied on for survival, so it was important that enough resources were
available in the East coast. There was a direct route for due to the geographic
location of their settlement being right on the coast line. They resided close to the
Bay of Fundy making it easier for them to trade with others coming into the colony.
By living close to waterways the Acadians were able to make a living by trading
with other colonies and continue providing their families with food and resources
for a formal lifestyle. Geographically, Nova Scotia was a great place for their
agriculture and in which it boosted their economy. Therefore Nova Scotia,
Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick were lands where the
Acadians could continue the lifestyles and continue to provide for their families due
to the fertile soils making agriculture and livestock an easy transition from former
life. The economies were able to increase with resources being so profitable and
promising. The British and French colonies were struggling with colonial powers but
the British conquered and rising tensions begun. The British colonies thought the
land the Acadians inhabited important land to Great Britain s colonial advancement.
Therefore British needed to exile them as far away as possible. The deportation was

Succumbing to hunger and thirst on the fifth day, they killed the dog for
nourishment. Two of the crewmen died on the sixth day. On the seventh, the
remaining crew reached land.
Ironically, Marion returned to the family farm healthier and in better spirits than
when he had left. Wrote Peter Horry, who would later serve under Marion: quot; His
constitution seemed renewed, his frame commenced a second and rapid growth,
while his cheeks quitting their pale, suet colored cast, assumed a bright and healthy

Apparently, this voyage ended his obsession with the sea, for he farmed his family s
plantation for the next ten years. Gradually, his brothers and sisters married and
moved away. Around 1750, his father died, leaving Marion to manage the plantation
and care for his mother.
Though thethe began in 1754, it did not touch the daily lives of South Carolinians
until the war s final years. At this time, Cherokees began threatening settlers along the
South Carolina border, influencing Governor William Henry Lyttelton to enlarge his
military forces. Marion and his brother Gabriel were among the Huguenot recruits.
When an expedition led by Colonel Archibald Montgomerie was ambushed by
Cherokees near the town of Echoe, Montgomerie s troops suffered heavy losses. The
defeat alarmed the South Carolinians, who appealed to Lord Jeffrey Amherst,

Abstract The purpose of this project was to determine the minimal inhibitory
concentration of our given antibiotic called tetracycline. Tetracycline is a
bacteriostatic agent and instead of directly killing the bacteria, it prevents the growth
mainly by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins. We hypothesized that the minimal
inhibitory concentration for our test would range from 4 g/mL to 8 g/mL. This
process spanned across four lab meetings located in a biology lab at Duncan Hall of
San JosГ© State University. The first lab introduced us to sterile and plating

Introduction
Disease and plague had once completely and disastrously overwhelmed humanity for
countless years. During the era when medicine was not as advanced and sickness and
disease had run rampant, people had resorted to dangerous, unethical and unsanitary
methods of healing. Desperate to alleviate the pain, doctors and healers of the time
did what they could to make the pain and discomfort of the ill disappear. Though the
intentions of many doctors was to heal the sickly, they did not realize there was a
more scientific approach of solving many of their problems. On a microscopic level,
there are bacteria and microbes that are attacking the body, causing diseases to ensue.
In order to deal with the issue at hand, scientists had to figure out what could be used
to fight these particular pathogens and not just what, but how much of these
antimicrobials should be used. To better understand this idea of knowing the proper
dosage needed for an antibiotic, we exercised this concept of minimal inhibitory
concentration. The minimal inhibitory concentration is the lowest amount of the
antimicrobial concentration needed to prevent the noticeable growth of the
microorganism after incubating the sample overnight. Each group was given a
specific antibiotic of
Benching Jim Crow Summary
Review of Benching Jim Crow by Charles H. Martin If states are the laboratories of
democracy, then sports are the arena in which it is tested. This book serves as a
review of racial integration and the changing dynamics in sports from 1890 1980.
Charles Martin aims for the reader to understand why it was common place for white
southerners to compete against non black ethnic minorities (E.G. Native Americans,
Chinese), but an issue when even a single African Americanwas on an opposing team.
Benching Jim Crow explains to the reader that the persistence of segregation lay with
overarching cultural mentalities left over from the Civil War, but shifts in position
came from external (financial), and internal (students and players). Though offering
little insight into the legal and political impacts of Jim Crow itself, Martin paints a
detailed, but redundant, narrative of the rise and fall of Jim Crow in athletics.... Show

As schools began to engage in intercollegiate sports at the turn of the century,
Southern schools unofficially required that the opposing team bench any of their
players if they were colored. If the team declined to do so, it was common place for
the southern school to not field a team. Martin explains that Southern universities
would rarely know the lineup of their competitors in the earlier years of football, so
these decisions were often made upon arrival. More likely than not, when a southern
school forfeited a match it would lay blame to the opposing team for not respecting
its long standing traditions and sensibilities. (18,

Ethnocentrism Is A Basic Attitude Expressing The Belief...
ETHNOCENTRISM
Ethnocentrism is a basic attitude expressing the belief that one?s own ethnic group or
one?s own culture is superior to other ethnic groups or cultures, and that one?s
cultural standards can be applied in a universal manner. The term was first used by
the American sociologist William Graham Sumner (1840?1910) to describe the view
that one?s own culture can be considered central, while other cultures or religious
traditions are reduced to a less prominent role. Ethnocentrism is closely related to
other attitudinal indicators for racism, xenophobia, prejudice, mental closure, and,
more generally, an authoritarian personality structure. Ethnocentrism is widely used
in research on social and political attitudes because it proves to be a very powerful
and easily identifiable attitude that can be measured in a valid manner with a limited
number of variables. Although ethnocentric prejudice can be directed toward one
specific outsider group, empirical research reveals that usually ethnocentrism is
generalized toward all outsider groups.
Although ethnocentrism is closely related to racism, it can be distinguished from
racism because it does not involve necessarily a negative vision toward other races.
Any culturally distinct outsider group (whether the distinction involves language,
religion, color, or descent) can be targeted by ethnocentric attitudes. In practice,
European researchers often tend to avoid using the term?racism?because they are
reluctant to apply the
Pharma Industry Analysis
The Pharmaceutical Industry
1. Origins and Evolution
The modern pharmaceutical industry is a highly competitive non assembled1 global
industry. Its origins can be traced back to the nascent chemical industry of the late
nineteenth century in the
Upper Rhine Valley near Basel, Switzerland when dyestuffs were found to have
antiseptic properties. A host of modern pharmaceutical companies all started out as
Rhine based family dyestuff and chemical companies e.g. Hoffman La Roche,

The Social Dimension:
Good health is an important personal and social requirement and the unique role
pharmaceutical firms play in meeting society s need for popular wellbeing cannot be
underestimated. In recent times, the impact of various global epidemics e.g. SARS,
AIDS etc has also attracted popular and media attention to the industry. The effect of
the intense media and political attention has resulted in increasing industry efforts to
create and maintain good government industry society communications.
Technological Advances:
Modern scientific and technological advances in science is forcing industry players to
adapt ever faster to the evolving environments in which they participate. Scientific
advancements have also increased the need for increased spending on research and
development in order to encourage innovation. Legal Environment:
The pharmaceutical industry is a highly regulated and compliance enforcing industry.
As a results there are immense legal, regulatory and compliance overheads which the
industry has to absorb. This tends to restrict it s dynamism but in recent years,
government have begun to request industry proposals on regulatory overheads to so
as not to discourage innovation in the face of mounting global challenges from
external markets.

But often times, we are refusing to accept the truth that stands before us because

officer may not completely agree, he must honor the chief s decision in what his
consequences may be. Also, it is imperative that all heroes be honorable; however,
they do not have to be honored. The people who do an affectionate deed and
demand that people reward is a selfish fool. The hero is a man who will put their life
on the line for others and not assert anyone to honor him. An extraordinary example
of this act would be of Spider Man. Spider Man is a comical superhero who has the
fantastic advantages that a spider attains. Advantages such as webbing, ability to
attach himself to walls, and his incredible spider sense (spider sense is the ability
to sense when there is danger coming). This hero jumps into burning buildings and
saves lives, yet he does not require anything in return. Meanwhile, there is a mad
newspaper writer named Jonah Jameson that is infuriated with him and believes he
is a fake. Jameson has all the power he needs; he works at a newspaper company
and can easily write badly about him. However, even though this powerful man is
attempting to change people s opinion about him, he doesn t need people to honor or
respect him... he does nothing about the gossiping

Business Management Answer Book
Important message from the author
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for purchasing my textbook and for the encouraging words that many of
you have passed on from around the world.
In the final installment, I have put together answers/solutions to all 217 case studies.
I hope you will find these solutions as a useful starting point. As with all B M mark
schemes, the solutions in this Answer
Book should be used with caution and flexibility. Students who take an alternative
approach to the suggested solutions should still be credited where appropriate;
teachers should use their professional judgment in such cases.

Definition of conflict should be given. The possible solutions will depend on the
cause(s) of conflict within the department. For instance:
Poor communication channels lead to misunderstandings; look into improving
communications within the department, e.g. regular team briefings.
Lack of promotional opportunities; perhaps investigate the possibility of delegating
responsibility to allow subordinates to gain valuable experiences.
Given the culture, the new HOD might be expected to be more democratic in his/her
approach to conflict management, e.g. perhaps by using forms of empowerment.
Conflict may also arise if the Principal uses external recruitment to appoint the new
HOD.
Any conflict between subordinates will most likely to be dealt with by the HOD, i.e.
conflict is resolved within the department.
The new HOD will therefore need to have good interpersonal and communications
skills. S/he may also need to develop situational management styles with clear goals
and objectives for the
Department.

There is a thorough examination of the various ways in which different sources of
conflict can be handled by the Head of Department. Appropriate terms are used with

The Changes In The Narrators View Of Sonny Essay
The Changes in the Narrator s View of Sonny
Can one know another s thoughts? Through dialogue, actions, and events, the
thoughts and views of a man of whom we know not even a name are shown. The
man is the narrator of quot;Sonny s Blues quot; and his thoughts we are shown are
those directed towards his brother. Over the course of the story, there are three major
stages or phases that the narrator goes through, in which his thoughts about his
brother change. We see that those stages of thoughtvary greatly over the narrator s
life, from confusion about his brother to understanding. Each phase brings different
views of his own responsibility toward his brother, his brother s manhood, and his
brother s sense of reality.

Therefore, whenever he did something for Sonny it was because his mother had
wanted him to, not because he cared about Sonny. As soon as taking care of Sonny
stopped working with his schedule, he sent him to his mother in law s house.
During the story, however, a long separation brought the narrator into his second
stage of thinking, and changed his views of Sonny. The narrator recognized that
Sonny wasn t just a kid any more. Sonny had been in the Navy and had been living
on his own for some time. Yet he didn t see him as a maneither. quot;He was a man
by then, of course, but I wasn t willing to see it. quot;(52) He saw Sonny as a
teenager of sorts. Sonny dressed strangely, became family with strange friends, and

Comparison of Martin Luther King Jr.s Letter from...
One of the greatest speakers for the black civil rights movement was Martin Luther
King, Jr. Two of his pieces that stand out the most, was the Letter from
Birmingham Jail and I Have a Dream . The Letter From Birmingham Jail is exactly
that, it s a letter that King had wrote while he was in jail, to a group of clergy
members who disapproved of his action in Birmingham City. I Have a Dream was
speech that was delivered in Washington, DC at Lincoln Memorial on August 28,
1963. This speech was written to inspire people to look beyond themselves and also
demanded the country unity focusing on equality for all without focusing on the
color of their skin; King also wanted the people to take a stand in a nonviolence
manner. The Letter from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are also repetition in both pieces, in I Have a Dream, he uses I have a dream,
let freedom ring, insufficient funds, and more. But in the Letter from Birmingham Jail
, he uses the words when and extremist.
A difference is the tone, other rhetorical appeals and the meaning of the two pieces.
In the speech I Have a Dream , there are obviously logos, pathos, and ethos, but
there are also parallelisms, metaphors, personification, symbolisms, and repetition.
King uses personification when he says, It is obvious today that America had
defaulted on this promissory not insofar as her citizens of color are concerned...,
King is using American society as a person who has been done wrong. But also in
the quote he uses metaphor and symbolism by saying, ...sacred obligation, America
has given its colored people a bad check, a check that has come back marked
insufficient fund. ....the bank of justice is bankrupt... insufficient funds in the great
value of opportunity of this nation. what King is trying to say is that America had
given promises to the America Americans, but the promises are empty. Another
metaphor in I Have a Dream is, In a sense we have come to our Nation s capital to
cash a check . Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South
Caroline, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos
of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this
Evaluate the Significance of Agrippina s Marriages in Her...
Agrippina the Younger s three marriages were significant in her rise to prominence
as they all served her political advancement; protection from enemies, fortune and
eventually, power in politics. Her first marriage was to Gnaeus Domitius
Ahenobarbus, a man seventeen years her senior, described as a wholly despicable
character (Suetonius). Her second marriage was to Gaius Sallustius Passienus
Crispus, cut short by his death, but gaining her immense fortune. Her third and final
marriage was to her uncle, Emperor Claudius, giving her the political power she
craved, just as her mother did before her.

The law at the time perceived their marriage as incestuous, as she was the daughter
of Claudius brother, Germanicus. Despite this, by the assistance of Vitellius (a friend
of Agrippina s in the Senate) appealing their union as commonplace in other countries
(even Roman) that the marriage was enacted in principle and practice. Tacitus says
that their marriage in AD49 marked a real turning point as Agrippina acquired power
beyond her wildest dreams.
Claudius, as emperor, was told it was politically necessary to have a partner, upon
Messalina s death, to help function and protect the Principate, one of few reasons
for his marriage to Agrippina. It was Pallas who presented Agrippina s case (as she
was an eligible woman) convincingly. Claudius could not ignore her ambitious
nature, the fact she was politically skilled, and importantly; a woman of the Julian
bloodline. Agrippina s motives were concentrated solely on herself, and her son, Nero
. Agrippina married her uncle in hope that Nero would inherit the Principate. She
wanted to promote her son to become emperor (Suetonius), and aspired for political
power for herself in regards to the Principate and Claudius. The power gave her the
ability to dispose of any enemies who got in her way.
Not only did she develop a reputation for running the Principate (acknowledging, and
avoiding Caligula s mistakes), she controlled
Comparing Christmas In Spain, Cuba, And Mexico
To people in America, Christmas occurs on December 25th, a day where children
wake up to find presents under the tree. In other traditions, some people go to church
to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. However, even though many countries celebrate
Christmas, there are different traditions and ways of celebrations. In Hispanic
countries, like Spain, Cuba, Columbia and Mexico, they celebrate in a way that
contrasts with ours yet are similar to things we can identify with. In the Hispanic
countries mentioned above, Christmasis referred to as La Navidad. They celebrate

Some of them don t occur on Christmas day, but happens before or after the holiday.
One of them is The Day of the Candles, or Dia de las Velitas. During this
Columbian holiday, everyone lights up skinny candles and sets them outside
buildings to light up cities. A tradition in Spain is to stay up to feast and party until
morning. In an old Spanish verse, Christmas is called the good night or Noche

Mexico, children walk around the streets dressing up as Mary and Joseph,
traveling by donkey to represent the time when the two had to find lodging. This

The Impact Of Transgenders In The Military
One of the big questions lurking in the United States is if transgenders can serve in
the military. As of right now they are temporarily not allowing transgenders into the
military. If they were to allow them there would be many things that they would
have to look at. There is things like where would they live to how would be treated.
They would have to decide what they would want to do with the ones currently
serving. There s just many factors to look at when trying to decide when something
like transgenders are becoming so popular in a society like ours today.
It all started in 2016 when Barack Obama let transgenders to enroll in the military.
Before this time there wasn t any problem with transgender because it just started to
become a thing in 2016. Barack Obama signed a policy in 2014 that banned people
who were openly gay, lesbian, and bisexuals from being in the military. There was
never anything about transgenders.
In 2015 things began to change, they now made it so that transgenders could serve.
Joe Biden put his input in on what he thought about the situation. He argued that they
should be able to serve. He said in a conference that he didn t want to anger anyone
currently serving that is transgender. A study was made to see how big of an impact
that transgenders would have on the military. They made the prediction that they
would cost little and have no significant impact on unit readiness. In 2016 they made
it so that transgenders would no longer be separated
How To Train Your Dragon Hero s Journey
The movie How to Train your Dragon illustrates the Hero s journey because it has
the same concepts and stages a hero would take on their journey. The important
stages that the movie specifically demonstrates are: Refusal of the Call, The Ordeal,
and The Resurrection. The Refusal of the Call is when the herosenses fear of the
unknown and tries to avoid the dilemma, and it s when they refuse to perform what
they are asked to do for any reason. In the movie, this is when Hiccup does not want
to be a viking because he does not want to kill the night fury Toothless, whom he
has already befriended. This night fury was deadly but still refrained from killing
Hiccup. The next main stage from the Hero s journey is The Ordeal, which is
Economics Reflection In Economics
There have been many topics that we have covered in class that have opened my
eyes to how behavioral economics play a role and are seen in everyday life. I
really enjoy examining these topics that we learn in class and when reading. Last
nights reading of Kahneman had me thinking of a particular topic of outcome bias
and how that impacts our illusion of understanding. Kahneman defines outcome
bias as give too little of credit to the decision maker when he makes a decision with
a good outcome and blames the decision maker when he made a good decision
with a bad outcome. This had me thinking of a particular instance two weeks ago
when the Twins were playing the Yankees in the wild card game. Paul Molitor, the
Twins manager chose to keep the pitcher in the following inning after giving up a
couple runs in the prior inning. The pitcher the following inning gave up another
run or two giving the Yankees the lead. The next day driving to class, I was
listening to KFAN the sports radio and they were saying how this decision cost the
Twins the game and should cost Molitor his job next year. When I heard this I was
very surprised, not being a Twins fan I thoughtthat they would be glad with the turn
around the team made this year, having been one of the worst teams in the MLB.
When I was reading last night and I came across outcome bias, I immediately went
back to this moment and it was clear that the talk show radio announcers had
participated in outcome bias. Even though
As I Lay Dying Essay
As I Lay Dying is an archetypal novel where the journey the characters embark on
is a model for others. Little Miss Sunshine, a movie rather than a novel, takes the
basics of As I Lay Dying and alters them to form a more modern version with a
slightly different storyline. Little Miss Sunshine successfully interprets the journey in
As I Lay Dying because aspects of both the characters and their trek emulate that of
the novel As I Lay Dying.
The major events in the journey of the Hoovers in Little Miss Sunshine are
analogous to that of the Bundrens in As I Lay Dying. In both, the cause of the
undertaking of the journey is because of a promise. In one a promise to Addie
Bundren that she will be buried in Jefferson, and in the other a promise ... Show more

because they are simply different than the others in their family. They are both
smarter than the people in their families, although the ways in which they are
smarter differ. Darl is smarter in that he is able to infer things that most do not

The Trojan Women
Euripides: Past Time Activist for Women In The Trojan Women, there are four
enduring women who dominate the play and only two men who say anything at all.
Moving us with their rants and dramatic reactions, these women engulf the audience
in overwhelming grief and irresistible pride. Euripides emphasizes these four women
to help us understand one of his main themes. Hecubawith her pride, Cassandra with
her virginity and uncanny wisdom, Andromachewith her misery and heartache, and
Helen with her powerful, seductive reasoning all represent superior illustrations of
feminism throughout the play.
The first woman introduced is Hecuba, who grieves for her family, people, and
ravaged homeland. She says, Sorrow, my sorrow. What sorrow is there... Show more

While frantically celebrating her appalling marriage to King Agamemnon, giving
praise to Hymen, the god of marriage, she says, O Mother, crown my triumph with
a wreath (I, i, 361). Here she does not show signs of terrible heartache about being
sent to a bridal bed that will ruin her life s work and sacrifice her virginity. Until
she begins to tell her mother how she will try to take revenge for her family does
she show pain by saying, I shall kill [Agamemnon] mother, lay his house as low as
he laid ours, make him pay for all he made my father suffer, brothers . . . (I, i, 367
369). Raving, she prophecies, If Apollo lives, my marriage will be bloodier than
Helen s, and in time we see that she is right with the fall of Greece (I, i, 364 365).
She also makes an interesting point on the defeat of Troy. She explains that the
Greeks are just there to fight and conquer, and that their families are not there to
soften their hearts. The Trojans fight as a family for their people. The Trojans
have lost, but they died with great honor trying to save and protect their country
and kinsmen. Cassandra refers to those soldiers, her family, who fought with a
final divination, Brothers, in Troy s earth laid, my father, a little time and I am
with you. You dead, I shall come to you a victor. Those ruined by my hand who
ruined us (I, i, 469 472). Even though she is portrayed as mad, the evidence of her
wisdom, whether it be given to her by the god she has devoted her life, or just insane
predictions, shows us that women could be intelligent and know of things to come
just as men. Giving us our second example of feminism, Cassandra shows her

1. Why did SFG want to buy Chohung? Was this part of a reasonable strategy, in
light of the state of the two banks and the Korean banking industry? For example,

Following the Asian financial crisis in the late 1990 s, the South Korean banking
industry became less fragmented as firms frequently engaged in M amp;A. The
number of commercial banks in South Korea dropped 35% after the financial crisis

This committee comprised of equal representation from each bank and was the
decision making body for the transition. 21 task force teams were assembled to
address challenges that routinely surface during an acquisition as well as those that
were specific to the banking sector. These teams were comprised of 97 volunteers

with these teams on a weekly basis to get feedback and increase engagement. Because
the teams were made from volunteers, each participant had an altruistic motivation or
higher purpose for spending their time in this effort.

endorse a role for yoga among the CAMs as an effective treatment in depressive

Multicultural Education Issues 1
Multicultural Education Issues
Multicultural Education Issues The purpose of this study is to discuss teachers
resistance to multicultural education and how it affecting the minority students and
ELL learners. These negative attitudes that some teachers care can be considered a
reason why there is such an increase of high school dropouts. There are so many
teachers who often have a fear of teaching or building positive relationships with
minority or under privilege students. In this American society we have witness
stereotypes being used to label students in the classroom by teachers who just have
some underlying issues that need to be addressed. Teachers resistance and negative

Teachers have to examine their prior experiences and confront fears that influenced
their value system ( Vang, 2005). In the article, An Ecological Perspective on
Preparing Teachers for Multicultural Classrooms (Johnson, 2003), it is stated that
discussions of multicultural education generally center on the importance of
broadening students understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures. The authors
here want to make sure that the teachers and trying to deal with the curriculum issues
and that the material being used is suitable for all students regardless of their
background or age. The role of the teacher is very critical to the students getting an
understanding. Teachers really do not know how influence they have in their
students. Maybe if the teachers begin to start embracing all students; we will see
more effective teaching in the multicultural classroom. There is a lot of inequality
amongst students of lower socioeconomic class. There is a drop out crisis among
youths at the bottom of the socioeconomic scale, regardless of race. This is because
some students are dropping out to help support themselves and their families. Jay
Greene of the Manhattan Institute and Christopher Swanson, of the National
Governors Association states, We know that about a third of our students are not

Essay about Theme of Religion in Dead Man Walking
In everyday society, we are faced with diverse issues that force us to make a
decision. Whether or not our decisions are right or wrong. In the movie Dead Man
Walking , directed by Tim Robbins, he exemplifies the following actions throughout
the film. Faith and doubt is a recurring theme in the course of the film. Where we see
Christians, in essence, questioning their faith. We also notice a contradiction between
the Christian bibleand the Hebrew bibleor as most people have come to know it as
the Old and the New Testament. Conflicting themes have been argued about the Old
and New Testament throughout the centuries. Also, humility is a key aspect to the
film. The director discreetly implies it at the end of the film so we can make a... Show

Tim Robbins is showing the viewers that people in society agree with the death
penalty as justice being served for one who has sinned but do not agree with
killing people who cheat, and prostitute. The image he is trying to demonstrate to
the viewers is the religious and there faith. Christian s belief comes from loyalty,
values, and allegiance. It is more than just a mental activity . The director
illustrates it to the viewers by using religious symbols and imagery. The movie
takes place in Louisiana, the fourth most religious state in the United States of
America . It is clear to us that most of the characters, including the doctor that gives
the lethal injections, are wearing crosses or cross pins on there clothes. The shots
that the camera takes of Matthew s arms show his tattoos of his daughter s name,
swastikas, and more but he does not have anything to do with religion. The director
here is inconspicuously showing the viewers something very interesting. At the end
of the movie, Matthew confesses to Helen of his sins and she replies: the truth has
set you free and you are the son of God (1:33:45 min). He takes the responsibility of
the murders of both those children and his dignity was returned to him. The

Sexually Transmitted Infections ( Stis )
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are one of the most concerning health
problems in the United States. It is a serious threat to the health of the population
which could lead to severe complications if left untreated. According to the CDC,
approximately 20 million new cases of sexually transmitted disease are reported
throughout the nation. Though constituting 25% of the sexually active population,
youth account for nearly half of new STI cases which makes them the at risk
population ( 2014 Sexually Transmitted DiseaseSurveillance , 2015). Research
suggests this increase in cases among adolescents and young adults was attributed to
the combination of behavioral, biological and cultural factors ( Sexual Healthof

S., Mcfarlane, M., 2000). Therefore, actions must be taken to prevent this particular
group from contracting and spreading the disease.
In the state of Missouri, STIs are also one of the most critical health problem.
According to Missouri Health Assessment (2013), the state s Gonorrhea (130.3 per
100,000 persons) and Chlamydia (465.6 per 100,000 persons) rates are
significantly higher than the U.S (104.2 and 457.6 per 100,000 persons,
respectively) rates. Especially in the metro regions of Kansas City and St. Louis,
the prevalence rates of Gonorrhea (191.8 and 188 per 100,000 persons,
respectively) and Chlamydia (606.1 and 558.8 per 100,000 persons) is significant
higher than the state rates (Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services,
2013). In Missouri 2015 State Health Profile, reported rates of chlamydia among
women were higher than those among men. The health profile also found that among
women by age groups 20 24 had the highest number in cases for both Chlamydia and
Gonorrhea. The statistics indicate that college students, especially female contributed
greatly to the large number of STIs cases in Missouri (Missouri 2015 State Health
Profile, 2015).
The priority population for sexual health is the youth because they are at greater
risks for contracting STIs than other age groups. Therefore, the Sexual Health
Advocacy Group will focus on giving college students the tools to choose not to
engage in risky sexual behaviors and information on

To defeat a motion for summary judgment by the moving party, the non moving party

When a court rules on a summary judgment motion, the court must look positively
to the Plaintiff s case to decide if a genuine dispute of material fact is apparent. See

A New Planning Format Into A Nursery Setting Essay
In this task the introduction of a new planning format into a nursery setting will be
discussed. The impact on teachers, staff, pupils and parents will be critically analysed
and suggestions for improvements made.
The private day nursery is situated on the outskirts of a Staffordshire market town,
surrounded by countryside. This 77 place day nursery caters for 117 children of 0 to
8 years of age, including those with special educational needs, disabilities and those
who have English as an additional language. There are 25 nursery practitioners within
the setting with qualifications ranging from level two to level five and with one
Qualified Teacher Status. Thirteen members of staff are part time, doing various
hours throughout the week. The Nursery was re registered in 2003 and is managed
by a partnership (Ofsted, 2014).
The Rationale for the new planning within the private day nursery is that it enables
staff to carry out observations throughout four months rather than the previous three.
This allocates more time for children to focus on an area of learning. Jarvis et al
(2008) positions that the EYFS Medium term plans (Appendix 1) are based on a topic.
Planning should be flexible and used as a guide (Early Years Matters, 2016). The
EYFS 2012 was a flexible guide due to it being non statutory, however, the EYFS
2014 is now a statutory framework for practitioners to follow and providing planned
opportunities for children s needs and interests (DfE, 2014). With the
Industrial Revolution Impact On Western Society
In Western society today, it is easily possible to communicate with people, travel,
make purchases, and use those purchases. People can easily buy things that they
need at a store, drive a car to work and to visit friends, or pick up a phone or
computer to speak to friends. However, none of this would be possible without a
means of communication, factories to manufacture the products, places to work, and
ways to travel and transport goods. It can easily be seen that the Industrial
Revolution is one of the most significant events in the formation of Western Society.
During the period from 1780 to 1850 (Sherman and Salisbury 517), there were many
technological advances made, and this period is known as the Industrial Revolution.

This meant that completing products took time, and the artisans that made these
products had to be trained or apprenticed to become successful in their field.
However, the invention of tools, the use of new energy systems like coal, electricity,
petroleum, and steam engines ( Industrial para 3), and the implementation of the
factory system changed all of this. The use of steam energy even allowed factory
owners to locate away from water sources (Sherman and Salisbury 524). Production
methods were radically altered by all of these changes, because now unskilled
workers had the opportunity to contribute to the production of products without
training, and the speed of production for those products was able to increase
substantially. Transportation and Communication innovations during the Industrial
Revolution also had a huge impact on changes that occurred in society during the
eighteenth and nineteenth century, and still have a huge impact on current Western
society. With the advent of new forms of communication, such as the rotary printing
press and the telegraph ( Printing para 3), people were able to communicate not
only in mass volume, but much more quickly to people much farther way. Messages
that used to take months to be delivered could now happen in hours (Sherman and
Salisbury 612). This allowed people to be more aware of what was going on
Failure Is Strength, By Michael Jordan
Failure is Strength I can accept failure, but I can t accept not trying. once said by
the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan. In today s world, people
every day are taking different opportunities and trying new activities. With a great
chance of failure, they still decide to risk it all. As a result, they learn a valuable life
lesson that helps create them into a stronger person. Failure can strengthen an
individual by creating new opportunities and motivating them to do better. Creating
new opportunities is one way that failure can strengthen a person. For instance,
Thomas Edison did not create the light bulb with just one trial. It took many trial and
errors to get where he wanted to be. Without failing, he wouldn t

The rough draft of the results section should include all tables used in your
experiment. All values within the tables should be in numerical form and contain
units. For instance, if measuring the amount of chloride in water you should report
as 2 mg/L or 0 mg/L not as two or none.
Body Paragraph # 1: The rough draft of the results section should also describe
important results in paragraph form, referring to the appropriate tables when
mentioned. This section should only state the results as no personal opinions should
be included. A description of what the results really mean should be saved for the
discussion. For example, you may report, 0mg/L of chlorine were found in the water,
but should avoid personal opinions and interpretations such as, no chlorine was found
in the water showing it is cleaner than the others samples.

Christopher Wren Research Paper
Christopher Wren can be called the largest phenomena of English architecture of the
period of the second half of 17th century and beginning of 18th century. His life is
free from the rebellious quest of the previous generation and to the brim is filled with
often very bold, but sure and planned development of what has been achieved in the
field of exact sciences and then architecture. Fine arts, literature and, in general, the
humanities, apparently did not fascinate him. The son of the abbot of Windsor Abbey
and the nephew of the bishop, and hence the representative of the privileged social
stratum, with its settled way of life and influential connections, Christopher received
a brilliant education at that time and early surrendered to scientific interests,
discovering, like many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a Newton s opinion he was one of the three most outstanding mathematicians of his
time. Wren was a professor of astronomy at Oxford. He developed many inventions,
including construction mechanisms, and later became one of the founders and first
presidents of the Royal Society created in 1660. However, Wren went down in
history, first of all, as the most outstanding architect of his country. To the architecture
of Wren turned relatively late, in the thirty third year of life, and then after repeated
insistence of influential customers. This in itself testifies to a new attitude to
architecture, perceived by that time as an activity requiring deep, diverse knowledge
and a broad outlook. And one of the turning point in his life, which led to appeal to
architecture, was the Great Fire of London in 1666. Wren creates a project for a
radical redevelopment of the city, rejected, however, by the reactionary authorities. At
the same time, Wren received the order for the construction his the most monumental
structure of the St. Paul s Cathedral in London and rebuilding burned churches, of
which he built more than
Dances With Wolves Analysis
For a lot of people the movie Dances with Wolves is one of the most significant
works that Hollywood made. About importance and quality of the movie speaks
number of Oscars won. In essence, this film in a very special way talks about a very
interesting period of American history and culture. It speaks about the time when two
cultures collided, Western and indigenous; about collision of different worldviews:
modernist who understands the progress and which in the spreading on the West sees
the advantage and new chance and retrograde and counterrevolutionary that
expansion sees as a blow to their cultureand tradition, which was built for centuries.
We can say that Kevin Costner and Michael Blake did a great job.

Costner s film was made at a time when many believed that the western theme is
dying and that all cowboy themes were exhausted. Since the announcement of
shooting a three hour saga of American history and the different treatment of the
Indians, Costner has encountered many misunderstandings. However, the end result
shamed Hollywood which is still considering that only way for profit is to repeat
well known formulas. Although confronted with number of problems, and a
different approach (e.g. in the film was used forgotten Lakota dialect the language
of the Sioux) and the obsessive desire for authenticity, Costner embarked on an
adventure that was worthwhile. From the beginning he showed that he s in love
with the novel by Michael Blake, calling it the work of true inspiration. The
manuscript is considered as one of the best portraits of Indians, a nation that is losing
culture, identity and lives in contact with the whites. After Costner s movie, not much
had remained the same: a movie made with great care and love, although critics
talked about dramaturgical naivety in portraying Indians. According to Costner, it is
enough to understand Indian language to realize that they are good natured people
who are like us and among us whites and Indians there is absolutely no difference.
Divergence was created by evil, white people. From this perspective one can
complain about lack of conviction, although we agree with
How Did The British Invasion Influence American Culture
The British Invasion was a phenomenon that began in the 1960 s and has somehow
kept itself alive even to this day. Americans have been bombarded with British culture
for years, and rather than shun the differences, they have accepted them into their
lives. Music, television, and literature in America have all been changed due to
British influence. In many different ways, the British Invasion has greatly affected
American culture. The early British invasion was an amazing time for music. The
American music culture blossomed and grew, leaving even today s public infatuated.
During the early years of the British Invasion, many American artists were put out of
business. Of the few American artists that did make it in the music business during...

When it comes to most people, one band in particular pops into mind. For some,
maybe it is The Who, singing My Generation. However, more often than not, it is The
Beatles who stand above the rest. The Beatles are credited for being the main cause
of the British invasion. They tried for many years to gain the support and
recognition of the American public, but to no avail. In 1963, The Beatles released a
single, trying to get onto the American charts, but it ended up only gaining
popularity in England.(Gilmore, Mikal) But on November 22, 1963, the unthinkable
happens, and president John F. Kennedy was shot and killed. After seeing how
heartbroken the American public was, the Beatles swooped, seeming to be the
perfect antidote to their broken hearts. The beatles released another song, I Want to
Hold Your Hand, which quickly made it to number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 . At one
point in their careers, the band held down all top 5 positions on the national singles
chart. They could not last forever though, and on September 1969, John Lennon
privately announced that he would be leaving the group. The public did not know
about the break up until April 10, 1970, when Paul McCartney announced that he too
was leaving the band. Though the Beatles were gone, many amazing British artists
have since followed in their footsteps. One Direction, Ed Sheeran, and The Rolling

The Coca Cola system is not a single entity from a legal or managerial perspective,
and the company does not own or control all of their bottling partners. While many
view the company as simply Coca Cola, their system operates through multiple local
channels. The Company manufactures and sells concentrates, beverage bases and
syrups to bottling operations, owns the brands and is responsible for consumer brand
marketing initiatives. Coca Cola s bottling partners manufacture, package,
merchandise and distribute the final branded beverages to Coca Cola customers and

All bottling partners work closely with customers (grocery stores, restaurants, street

localized strategies developed in partnership with Coca Cola. Customers then sell
their products to consumers at a rate of more than 1.9 billion servings a day. In

English As A Symbol Of Power And High Social Status
INTRODUCTION
Education is a nation building and globally inter related activity that unlocks the door
to modernization. It is imparted through formal, informal and non formal ways. For
this purpose, there is a need of interaction among the students, teachers and study
material. Usually, educational system at the primary level follows the medium of
instructions in the mother tongue. But at the secondary level, the students are
required to learn one or two unfamiliar languages i.e. English and Urdu. In Pakistan,
the students have to study English as a compulsory subject from K.G to graduation
level due to the following reasons:
i.English is a mean of understanding the foreign and higher educational work. ii.
English is an international language used in research, commerce, aviation, diplomacy
and source of scientific and technological advancement. iii. English is a symbol of
power and high social status. (Rehman, 2004)
Language is no doubt an essential part of human life. It is used as a means of
communication. Language has been defined in many ways. Some of these are as a
language is a system of arbitrary vocal symbols by means of which a social group
operates (Pahuja, 1994). With the arrival of British in the sub continent, English
replaced the languages of learning and education such as Arabic, Persian and
Sanskrit. A turning point in the socio political history of the sub continent was Lord

  • 2. Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies Essay Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by software developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this is simple: if you want to make sure something is well built, you must design it well first, then put it together using reliable tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout decades, the methods of up front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products often made for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other. For this type of environment, more dynamic methods are required, which is why XP suits as a viable candidate. How design is altered from the traditional up front design method will be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... reveals all the intentions , on the other hand, makes sense under the following train of thought: if something is simple, it is easy to understand, and therefore all or most intentions are clear to the observer. does not have duplicated code seems to make things easy to understand, but may not necessarily simplify a program. Finally, has the fewest number of classes or methods seems to be the most pertinent to the concept of simplicity. If a system consists of less functional elements than another one but holds the same product, it could be considered simpler. Following this definition, a system that contains the least amount of functional elements than any other, but holds the same product, could be considered simplest. Other than a few definitions of simplicity, Fowler mentions YAGNI, an acronym he claims is one of the ...greatest rallying cries in XP... (Fowler). It stands for You Aren t Going to Need it (Fowler). The idea is summed up by Fowler as a method to only program what is currently needed for the project. This is supposed to allow easy changes to be made when needed. An example: consider the scenario where a calculator is being programmed. Its design incorporates addition and multiplication . Whilst implementing addition , it may seem logical to add some of the multiplication features to reduce the amount of future work. Suddenly the client decides to replace multiplication with division . multiplication now has to be removed or
  • 3. Jeb Bush Biography Essay John Ellis Jeb Bush is a politician and businessman born on February 11,1953 in Midland, Texas. He is the son of George H. W. Bush, 41st president of the United States of America, and brother to George W. Bush, 43th president of the United States of America. Recently, Bush has decided to follow in his family s footsteps and run for president. He is in the Republican Party alongside Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Chris Christen, and may others. Regarding on why he has decided to run, Bush says he is prepared to fix America and show Congress how he s prepared to use a veto against needless spending. He pledged to change the self serving attitude in Washington. I was a governor who refused to accept that as the normal or right way of conducting the people s business, he said. I will not accept it as the standard in Washington. Jeb Bush has insisted that America deserves better after eight years of Barack Obama. Bush took a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I tweeted in support of taking down a widely recognized symbol of racism and white supremacy, I thought I d fall pretty squarely in line with the other Republican candidates, but fortunately I was wrong, said Bush. All I had to do was offer a basic sentiment about how they should take down a flag widely considered to represent slavery and horrific racial oppression, and boom suddenly I m the only enlightened one in the group. I wish everything was this effortless. One article states that each Republican presidential candidate has mocked former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton s record, but Jeb Bush was the only who has praised her which could actually be a problem. By heaping praise on Hillary Clinton, Mr. Bush has handed her the ammo to bury him...and she will. No other potential GOP nominee has that fatal disadvantage, Chairman Brent Bozell said in a
  • 4. Analysis Of Johnson Johnson And Johnson Company Essay When seven people in Chicago died from cyanide laced Tylenol tablets in 1982, Johnson Johnson (JNJ) responded in a manner that not only saved the company s future, but also saved lives (Knight, 1982). JNJ reacted to the shocking news of the over the counter drug related deaths with compassion, urgency and honesty. JNJ aimed at showing the public that the company was as much of a victim as the consumers were, and vowed to resolve the issue and keep the media and consumers involved and aware, as per the company credo (Our Credo; Rehak, 2002). JNJ s timely response set a precedence by which public relations practitioners would model and businesses would strive to achieve. Background General Company Background In 1886, Robert Wood Johnson, Edward Mead Johnson, and James Wood Johnson formed Johnson Johnsoncompany and quickly expanded the company in the late 19th century (Johnson Johnson History, n.d.). The company created products that were aimed at improving health and personal hygiene and published books and manuals that instructed sterile surgery methods, wound treatments and women s health care (Johnson Johnson History, n.d.). JNJ began the practice of providing money and supplies for disaster relief in 1900 when the company assisted victims of a hurricane in Galveston, Texas (Johnson Johnson, n.d.). • 5. The Components Of Linux And Windows Systems Today, many people rely on computers and other devices to simplify and convenience their lives. Most users do not even consider the complexity that allows the device to operate. And staggeringly, every electronic item we use today has some sort of functioning operating system to allow it to carry out its objective task. A computer operating system is one such program that has rapidly evolved to simply the use and capabilities of computers. Two widely known and used operating systems, Windows and Linux, are contending for the user market and have transformed over the years and do their best to offer what the user is demanding. Initially the differences between Windows and Linux were like night and day. Now, as time goes on, the things that set them apart have become blurry. What really separates these two is what lies deep in the coding to make the operating system more efficient, secure and user friendly. Assessing the differences and similarities between the components of Linux and Windows systems, a user can decide which system would best meet their needs. The architecture of the kernel and how it operates can play a factor for security and efficiency. The visual aspect and workability with the Graphical User Interface(GUI) or command interface can employ ease of use or offer streamlined productivity. Then lastly, looking at the statistical data regarding Total Cost of Ownership and general popularity by actual use and preference will be compared. The one core program
  • 6. Legally Blonde As A Hero If I were offered a role for a hero or villain in any movie, I would choose to play Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. Although confusing at first, the finer points of development and power that emanate from this character are all values that I hold dear to my heart. As an unconventional character she radiates principle, conviction, and autonomy all while upholding her traditionally feminine personality traits and never falling into the stereotypical qualities that are pushed on her. At the beginning of the movie, Elle is a ditzy but quick witted sorority girl who goes on a mission to get her ex back by following him to Harvard Law School. At first, she s not taken seriously by anyone her parents, her ex, her peers, and her professors but, after

The pool scene which is known as the balcony scene in the play has been modernised by adding an elevator in which Juliet came down and meet Romeo. this is done so the audiences can relate to the scene. • 8. The River Ran Red Essay The filmmaker is sympathetic to the Homestead strikers. Within the first four minutes of the film, there are many good things being said about the workers and the growth of the town of Homestead because of them. In The River Ran Red, the speaker goes on to talk about how every working man in should be able to support their family. The workers in Homestead were able to support their families and actually participate in the government. In most other town s the company s treated the workers poorly, but in Homestead the workers played a big role in the decisions of their working conditions. Although the work was still dangerous they had a strong labor union. The labor unions were strong until the making of steel. With the making of steel
  • 9. The Lakota Sioux Of The Sioux Nation Of all the features upon the earth there are some ascribed with special significance. These features, whether caves, lakes, deserts, outcroppings, or something else entirely, hold tremendous relevance for the groups that dwell near them. Such beliefs in the worth and importance of such sites are entrusted from one passing generation to the next. These beliefs, and the physical objects they rest upon, become increasingly vital to that group s identity as a people. One such group is the Teton Lakota of the SiouxNation in South Dakota, an area that has been home to them for hundreds of years and, while their entire homeland is precious to them, of particular importance are the Black Hills, or Paha Sapa as they are called in Lakota. The Black Hills are an isolated mountain range rising 3000 to 4000 feet above the surrounding plains of South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana (Sundstrom et al. 1996). The importance of this land to the Sioux Nation goes beyond dedication to the place they have lived in for generations. The Lakota creation story itself incorporates the Black Hills in particular as central to their identity as a people. The Black Hills are not only regarded as the birthplace of Sioux culture in religious songs and legends, but as the first place created on Earth literally the heart of the Earth, which is seen as Mother. Sioux spiritual lore utilizes metaphor both to explain and to embody the thing signified the Black Hills are the heart of the Earth, and that concept is

  • 12. Why The Rich Should Pay Higher Taxes What do you think would happen if the rich paid more taxes? Would there be a better economy or would it be worst, maybe even stay the same. Increasing the taxes would help out our economy in a few ways. one way that it would help out our economy is that not only would there be less of a concentration of profit at the top of our social ladder there would be more revenue for the funding of civil union jobs. Also not to mention causing the bigger corporations to have to pay more so they would be unable to escape with the majority of the illegal activity they do today. Lastly if the government were to crack down on offshoring it would help with collecting taxes and the money would return to the people and back into circulation for our economy. Here are some reasons why the rich should pay higher taxes. One of the obvious reasons to raise the taxes of the rich would be because they simply earn more. One example is if two people started the year off with fifty thousand but then let us say one had a rich family member that died and they had received millions through a will, then say they received a gift of one billion by the end of the year they pay the same taxes even though one of they are now a billionaire (Cohen). The reason is that the government does not tax on gifts or wills so then they would not have to pay more taxes if they received a gift that had consisted of a large sum of cash (Cohen). Now there is a large chunk of change out of circulation and now the middle/lower

Tetracycline is a bacteriostatic agent and instead of directly killing the bacteria, it prevents the growth mainly by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins. We hypothesized that the minimal inhibitory concentration for our test would range from 4 g/mL to 8 g/mL. There are many antibiotics out there but it is not enough just to administer as much of an antibiotic that you want. There are particular numbers needed to achieve the desired and more longer lasting result. Introduction Disease and plague had once completely and disastrously overwhelmed humanity for countless years. During the era when medicine was not as advanced and sickness and disease had run rampant, people had resorted to dangerous, unethical and unsanitary methods of healing. Desperate to alleviate the pain, doctors and healers of the time did what they could to make the pain and discomfort of the ill disappear. Though the intentions of many doctors was to heal the sickly, they did not realize there was a more scientific approach of solving many of their problems. On a microscopic level, there are bacteria and microbes that are attacking the body, causing diseases to ensue. In order to deal with the issue at hand, scientists had to figure out what could be used to fight these particular pathogens and not just what, but how much of these antimicrobials should be used. To better understand this idea of knowing the proper dosage needed for an antibiotic, we exercised this concept of minimal inhibitory concentration. The minimal inhibitory concentration is the lowest amount of the antimicrobial concentration needed to prevent the noticeable growth of the microorganism after incubating the sample overnight. Each group was given a specific antibiotic of

This book serves as a review of racial integration and the changing dynamics in sports from 1890 1980. Charles Martin aims for the reader to understand why it was common place for white southerners to compete against non black ethnic minorities (E.G. Native Americans, Chinese), but an issue when even a single African Americanwas on an opposing team. Benching Jim Crow explains to the reader that the persistence of segregation lay with overarching cultural mentalities left over from the Civil War, but shifts in position came from external (financial), and internal (students and players). Though offering little insight into the legal and political impacts of Jim Crow itself, Martin paints a detailed, but redundant, narrative of the rise and fall of Jim Crow in athletics.... As schools began to engage in intercollegiate sports at the turn of the century, Southern schools unofficially required that the opposing team bench any of their players if they were colored. Martin explains that Southern universities would rarely know the lineup of their competitors in the earlier years of football, so these decisions were often made upon arrival. More likely than not, when a southern school forfeited a match it would lay blame to the opposing team for not respecting its long standing traditions and sensibilities. (18,

ETHNOCENTRISM Ethnocentrism is a basic attitude expressing the belief that one?s own ethnic group or one?s own culture is superior to other ethnic groups or cultures, and that one?s cultural standards can be applied in a universal manner. The term was first used by the American sociologist William Graham Sumner (1840?1910) to describe the view that one?s own culture can be considered central, while other cultures or religious traditions are reduced to a less prominent role. Ethnocentrism is closely related to other attitudinal indicators for racism, xenophobia, prejudice, mental closure, and, more generally, an authoritarian personality structure. Ethnocentrism is widely used in research on social and political attitudes because it proves to be a very powerful and easily identifiable attitude that can be measured in a valid manner with a limited number of variables. Although ethnocentric prejudice can be directed toward one specific outsider group, empirical research reveals that usually ethnocentrism is generalized toward all outsider groups. Although ethnocentrism is closely related to racism, it can be distinguished from racism because it does not involve necessarily a negative vision toward other races. Any culturally distinct outsider group (whether the distinction involves language, religion, color, or descent) can be targeted by ethnocentric attitudes. In practice, European researchers often tend to avoid using the term?racism?because they are reluctant to apply the

In Hispanic countries, like Spain, Cuba, Columbia and Mexico, they celebrate in a way that contrasts with ours yet are similar to things we can identify with. • 34. The Impact Of Transgenders In The Military One of the big questions lurking in the United States is if transgenders can serve in the military. As of right now they are temporarily not allowing transgenders into the military. If they were to allow them there would be many things that they would have to look at. There is things like where would they live to how would be treated. They would have to decide what they would want to do with the ones currently serving. There s just many factors to look at when trying to decide when something like transgenders are becoming so popular in a society like ours today. It all started in 2016 when Barack Obama let transgenders to enroll in the military. Before this time there wasn t any problem with transgender because it just started to become a thing in 2016. Barack Obama signed a policy in 2014 that banned people who were openly gay, lesbian, and bisexuals from being in the military. There was never anything about transgenders. In 2015 things began to change, they now made it so that transgenders could serve. Joe Biden put his input in on what he thought about the situation. He argued that they should be able to serve. He said in a conference that he didn t want to anger anyone currently serving that is transgender. A study was made to see how big of an impact that transgenders would have on the military. They made the prediction that they would cost little and have no significant impact on unit readiness. In 2016 they made it so that transgenders would no longer be separated

  • 36. Economics Reflection In Economics There have been many topics that we have covered in class that have opened my eyes to how behavioral economics play a role and are seen in everyday life. I really enjoy examining these topics that we learn in class and when reading. Last nights reading of Kahneman had me thinking of a particular topic of outcome bias and how that impacts our illusion of understanding. Kahneman defines outcome bias as give too little of credit to the decision maker when he makes a decision with a good outcome and blames the decision maker when he made a good decision with a bad outcome. This had me thinking of a particular instance two weeks ago when the Twins were playing the Yankees in the wild card game. Paul Molitor, the Twins manager chose to keep the pitcher in the following inning after giving up a couple runs in the prior inning. The pitcher the following inning gave up another run or two giving the Yankees the lead. The next day driving to class, I was listening to KFAN the sports radio and they were saying how this decision cost the Twins the game and should cost Molitor his job next year. When I heard this I was very surprised, not being a Twins fan I thoughtthat they would be glad with the turn around the team made this year, having been one of the worst teams in the MLB. When I was reading last night and I came across outcome bias, I immediately went back to this moment and it was clear that the talk show radio announcers had participated in outcome bias. Even though

Little Miss Sunshine, a movie rather than a novel, takes the basics of As I Lay Dying and alters them to form a more modern version with a slightly different storyline. Little Miss Sunshine successfully interprets the journey in As I Lay Dying because aspects of both the characters and their trek emulate that of the novel As I Lay Dying. The major events in the journey of the Hoovers in Little Miss Sunshine are analogous to that of the Bundrens in As I Lay Dying. The private day nursery is situated on the outskirts of a Staffordshire market town, surrounded by countryside. This 77 place day nursery caters for 117 children of 0 to 8 years of age, including those with special educational needs, disabilities and those who have English as an additional language. There are 25 nursery practitioners within the setting with qualifications ranging from level two to level five and with one Qualified Teacher Status. Thirteen members of staff are part time, doing various hours throughout the week. The Nursery was re registered in 2003 and is managed by a partnership (Ofsted, 2014). This allocates more time for children to focus on an area of learning. Jarvis et al (2008) positions that the EYFS Medium term plans (Appendix 1) are based on a topic. It speaks about the time when two cultures collided, Western and indigenous; about collision of different worldviews: modernist who understands the progress and which in the spreading on the West sees the advantage and new chance and retrograde and counterrevolutionary that expansion sees as a blow to their cultureand tradition, which was built for centuries. Although confronted with number of problems, and a different approach (e.g. in the film was used forgotten Lakota dialect the language of the Sioux) and the obsessive desire for authenticity, Costner embarked on an adventure that was worthwhile. From the beginning he showed that he s in love with the novel by Michael Blake, calling it the work of true inspiration. The manuscript is considered as one of the best portraits of Indians, a nation that is losing culture, identity and lives in contact with the whites. After Costner s movie, not much had remained the same: a movie made with great care and love, although critics talked about dramaturgical naivety in portraying Indians. According to Costner, it is enough to understand Indian language to realize that they are good natured people who are like us and among us whites and Indians there is absolutely no difference. Divergence was created by evil, white people. From this perspective one can complain about lack of conviction, although we agree with

In 1963, The Beatles released a single, trying to get onto the American charts, but it ended up only gaining popularity in England.(Gilmore, Mikal) But on November 22, 1963, the unthinkable happens, and president John F. Kennedy was shot and killed. After seeing how heartbroken the American public was, the Beatles swooped, seeming to be the perfect antidote to their broken hearts. The beatles released another song, I Want to Hold Your Hand, which quickly made it to number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 .
