1. Example Of Narrative Essays
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Example of Narrative Essays" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between providing a
compelling narrative and adhering to the structural and stylistic elements expected in academic
writing.
To begin with, one must delve into the realm of narrative storytelling, navigating through the
intricate web of characters, plot development, and thematic coherence. This requires a keen
understanding of storytelling techniques to engage readers and convey the intended message
effectively. Juggling the art of storytelling with the academic requirements of an essay can be
akin to walking a tightrope, as one must ensure that the narrative does not overshadow the
essay's analytical and reflective aspects.
Moreover, the task involves a meticulous selection of examples that not only exemplify narrative
prowess but also serve as vehicles for conveying broader themes or messages. The challenge lies
in finding the right balance between personal anecdotes and universal relevance, ensuring that
the narrative resonates with a diverse audience.
Structuring the essay poses another hurdle. Balancing the chronological flow of a narrative with
the logical progression expected in an essay requires a thoughtful approach. Crafting smooth
transitions between different aspects of the narrative while maintaining coherence and clarity can
be a daunting task.
Additionally, the essay should reflect a deep understanding of narrative elements such as
character development, setting, and plot dynamics. Analyzing these components within the
context of the chosen examples adds complexity to the writing process, demanding a nuanced
exploration of storytelling techniques and their impact on the overall narrative.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the topic "Example of Narrative Essays" involves
navigating the intricate interplay between storytelling artistry and academic rigor. It requires a
writer to seamlessly weave personal narratives with analytical depth, all while adhering to the
conventions of essay writing. The challenge lies not only in presenting engaging examples but
also in constructing a cohesive and insightful exploration of the narrative form.

3. Absorbance And Concentration Lab Report
The formula for measuring concentrations (Molarity) is moles/ Volume. The
molarity of the diluted sample is 3.5 x 10^ 6 M and the volume is .005 Liters. Then
solve for moles by multiplying the two knowns the product is 1.75 x 10^ 8 moles.
All existing moles came from the .001 Liters of the unknown sample. The moles
should then be divide them the volume, which is 1 ml. The final answer of the
unknown concentrationis 1.75 x 10^ 5 M.
Absorbance and concentration are directly related. So if .1 M has an absorbance of
.26, then a solution with 0.2 M must have an absorbance of 0.52.
The formula to convert absorbance to transmittance is Transmittance = 10^
absorbance. The equation would be 10^ .85 and the transmittance would be .1412 or
14.12% Transmitted.

4. Scorpion Character Analysis
Scorpion is a show that centers around a group of geniuses, an ex waitress, her
genius son, and a middle aged homeland security agent, who use their expertise to
save the world one disaster at a time. This show is said to be based on the life of
Walter O Brien, who is a producer for the show. I personally really enjoy watching
the stories unfold, but the show tends to get mixed reviews overall, and while I like
the show there are some things that I think could be done better. First, it is important
to note that this show is produced by computer expert and alleged geniusWalter O
Brien, and was created to promote his computer company. (Although, unless someone
does research about the show, there is really nothing in the show to connect it to O
Brien s company, so I m not entirely sure how this show actually promotes anything.)
O Brien claims to have the fourth highest IQ in the world, and his characteron the
show played by Elyes Gabel constantly references this fact throughout the show. O
Brien claims that this show is based on his life experiences, so he contributes to the
story, consults on technical aspects of the show as well as the plot, and generally
gives his opinion on how he would solve the problems, according to his Wikipedia
page. Now, knowing O Brien s influence, and that this show is a publicity stunt, I
take the whole show with a grain of salt. I certainly didn t go into this show expecting
it to mimic or show completely realistic situations. On the

legal processes can be seen to have a bias against defendants, in that defendants can be
prey to coercion and intimidation by the prosecution or law enforcement, reflecting
major flaws in justice systems themselves despite the expectation by people that

their extremely different backgrounds, can be seen as something inherent to human

6. Why Is 1968 A Turning Point In 1968
The year 1968 was a significant moment in the postwar period as it witnessed the
greatest social and political upheaval throughout the world. It is understood as a
metaphor for the larger mobilization cycle that took place in the long Sixties and in
the Seventies. The events of that year marked a turning point in the emergence of a
cohort of young people comprising students and workers who had come confronting
the established authority and social conventions. Embedded in anti authoritarian and
individualistic, libertarian and socialistic as well as democratic, anti institutional, and
anti bureaucratic values, student groups and worker unions across organized protests
and demonstrations against the established institutions of Western democracy,... Show

The sentiment was intensified with the growing opposition to the Vietnam War.
Fascism was still an open chapter for many young German students. They were upset
on the reluctance of the older generations in incorporating anti Fascist ideas to the
country s constitution. The Bonn Republic s support for the U.S. in Vietnam did not
bode well with the student. The U.S. was perceived as equally immoral as the Hitler
regime. In brief, West German radical Leftist criticised the Bonn Republic for its
present imperialist capitalist associations and for its past fascist ones and viewed
themselves as the true victims of the far right dominance. The German radical Left
eventually distanced themselves from Willy Brandt s Social Democratic Party and
adopted Third World s Marxists Leninist variation, Maoism, exemplified with strong
anti Western emphasis. The situation reached its peak in 1968 when the student
movement failed to stop the Bundestag from legalising Emergency Law which were
due to be passed, would allow the government to limit civil rights in the case of an
emergency. This marked the decline of the student movement culminated in the
disbandment of Sozialistische Deutsche Studentenbund, the biggest student union in
West Germany and its resurrection in later years proved of no

Abstract
The purpose of this experiment is to isolate the essential oil from eucalyptus leaves as
a pure compound; moreover, the components of the essential oil, camphor and
limonene, will be then separated using gas chromatography technique, identify the
components by their retention times, and compute for the concentration and
percentage content of each component by their peak areas and peak heights. The
volatile oil from eucalyptus leaves was isolated with the use of steam distillation
setup, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the total vapor pressure is the sum of the individual vapor pressures, the total
vapor pressure must become equal to atmospheric pressure at a temperature below
the boiling point of either pure substance (Ault, 1983). The mixture thus distills at a
temperature below the boiling point of either pure component. This can be explained
using a combination of Dalton s and Raoult s Law:
Patm = XAPВ°A + XBPВ°B
where Patm is the atmospheric pressure, XA and XB are the mole fractions of
compounds A and B, and PВ°A and PВ°B are the vapor pressures of pure liquids A
and B. Their individual contributions are dependent on their respective mole
fractions, and both liquids contribute to the vapor pressure of the system (Institute of
Chemistry, UPD, 2010).
In this experiment, a major constituent of volatile oils from eucalyptus leaves will be
isolated as a pure compound with high purity via steam distillation. These essential
oils are camphor and limonene and by using the gas chromatography technique, the
different components of the eucalyptus essential oil will be separated. This
experiment also aims to manipulate the gas chromatography system and change
conditions in order to effectively and efficiently separate the components, and
therefore achieve a good resolution. The components will be identified by
determination of their retention times
8. Summary Of The Paradise Of Maitreya
Once decorating the walls in the Chinese Xinghua si temple stood The Paradise of
Maitreya and now a brilliant mural that rules the Bishop White gallery at the Royal
Ontario Museum. The painting was made over 7 centuries ago throughout the Yuan
dynasty, ruled by Khubilai Khan. This object is worthy of attention because it
underwent extensive repairs and is still known today for its beauty, it has a deep and
significant portrayal of the forthcoming of Buddha, as well the incredible backstory
of the painting. This piece is truly irreplaceable and is vital for understanding the
development of Chinese culture.
The Paradise of Maitreya has magnificent beauty. It was performed in fresco secco,
a painting technique done on dry plaster with colors assorted in water. The
substance the artist used is difficult to distinguish because there are only few
natural pieces that exist today. During this time tempera paint was used regularly in
paintings, therefore, researchers believe that this was done in the Paradise of
Maitreya. The Paradise of Maitreya is extremely large with measurements of 502cm
tall and 1101cm. This painting has an organized plan and is known for its intricacy.
It displays Buddha Maiterya centered in an imaginary paradise and is enclosed by
monks and the rulers. While Buddha Maitreya is generally portrayed as Indian, most
people in the scene are represented Chinese. The painting predicts the time of Buddha
Maitreya coming into the world during its toughest hours to
9. The Modal Model Of Memory
The modal model of memory was initially introduced by Richard Atkinson and
Richard Shiffrin (1968) because they believed that once data enters the brain it must
either be contained or put away. They additionally recommended that data is kept into
three particular memory frameworks i.e. the sensory register, short term memoryand
long term memory. This model was developed to clarify the process of our memory,
its capacity and how long the memory is able to hold a data.
Furthermore, they carried out a multi score model which described memory in terms
of information flowing via systems and this research was successful in terms of the
amount of research it consisted of. As a result, of this Baddeley and Hitch (1974)
developed an alternative model of short term memory which was also known as the
working memory.
The modal model memory is an explanation as to how the memory process functions,
although William James (1890) justified a dissimilarity amid the primary and
secondary memory because primary memory comprised of thoughts which held for a
short term in consciousness, whereas the secondary memory consisted of a
permanent unconscious store.
The sensory memory gathers data via our senses, ears, eyes, mouth and due to this
information only remains in store for a very small amount time, thus the model
suggests that if consideration is given to the senses then the memory exchanges to
the short term capacity. An evidence of the sensory store was provided by Sperling
(1960); as
10. Mummy Ish Influence On Nora
Nora wanting to feel held Nora loves attention. She always says something or acts
in a manner that aims at attracting other people s attention, especially her educators.
Sometimes she fails to gain the attention of her intended audience. When this
occurs, she goes into a freezing mode for a few seconds. Her freezing mode is
characterized by sticking to the same position where she said or did something for
a few seconds hoping that somebody would respond to her messages . An example
of such an occurrence (freezing mode) was on 1st January 2014, when Nora was
three years old. This is what happened: Before letting everyone in, Sabrina turned
around to look at the kindergarten educators and said is everyone ready? and all the
others nodded.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Sabrina enters the room, Nora forgets about the pin because she feels held by
Sabrina. Winnicott tackles this concept of feeling held in his theories. He argues that
the concept of feeling held means that a child feels safe and all her needs can be met
within her environment. He writes, the holding environment... has as its main
function the reduction to a minimum of impingements to which the infant must react
with resultant annihilation of personal being (Winnicott, 1960: 47). Furthermore,
Winnicott suggests that the relationship that a child forms with the mother during her
pre kindergarten period results in the child developing a positive internal
environment. This positive internal environment is what makes the child survive
when her external environment changes. This is why the child is able to sense the
loss of a mother, when left in the Kindergarten, and develop a relationship with
another person or object that provides her the safety and stability of her
11. The Presidential Election For The First Time
This November I get to exercise my constitutional right to vote in the presidential
election for the first time. This opportunity is something that I have looked
forward to for a very long time. I ve developed a rather heavy interest in politics
over the past year or so, and have been actively following the race to the presidency
between Clinton and Trump. But despite my interest in politics, I have been rather
quiet on Facebook about my political beliefs and my feelings on this election.
While this is in part due to my lack of desire to post my political beliefs for the
web, it is mostly because this election, I m doing something that would shock my
younger self; I am voting for Clinton. Yes, I am voting for Clinton. And no, it is not
just because I am 18 years old and living in a college town in one of the most
liberal parts of Indiana. If I m being honest, I wanted to throw my vote away to a
third party candidate for awhile. But ultimately, I decided that it would be better to
throw my support behind one of the major candidates. So after lots of critical
analysis of both candidates, including looking at their backgrounds and what their
plans for our country are, I came to my decision. I know that many of my Facebook
friends are Republican through and through. And I m willing to bet that this is
because of their Christian faith. Growing up a Christian, I think it s considered the
norm to throw your allegiance at the Republican candidate. Typically, the candidate

12. Metaphysical Principles Are Ultimately Sound
and to suggest that his metaphysical principles are ultimately sound. Moreover, I
shall suggest that if we were to replace his outmoded embryology with what we now
know, the Angelic Doctor himself would be more than likely to conclude that
ensoulment took place at the moment of conception.
Aquinas s Metaphysical Principles
Aquinas s anthropology is firmly constructed on the foundation of the hylomorphic
theory the idea that all material things are a composite of a material and a formal
principle. In the case of the human being, the formal principle is the soul. While it is
the form that gives to matter all its particularity, matter itself must be disposed
towards the reception of a given form. So, for example, chickpeas must be soaked
and cooked if they are to be digested. This boils down (no pun intended) to saying
that the matter currently configured as chickpea cannot receive the form of human
flesh without first being disposed. Another example, more classically Thomistic, is
that wet wood must be disposed through the process of drying out to receive the form
of fire.
When this notion of disposition is applied to human generation it leads to the
conclusion that the material element of the human being that is given by the parents
in procreation must be ready to receive a rational soul before it can actually receive it.
Remember, the parents themselves do not give the child his form (the spiritual soul)
because they only contribute something material, namely a

Overview of Changes in this Resubmission I was delighted to receive
encouragement to resubmit this proposal and am extremely grateful to the five
reviewers for their insightful comments. I was gratified to read Reviewer 5 s
comment that the proposed activities are creative, original and potentially
transformative, and Reviewer 1 s comments that this research may lead to
theoretical advances in the understanding of stigma more broadly and that I am an
expert in this field and well suited to carry out the proposed research. Although
space limitations preclude me from detailing how I addressed every individual
comment, here I will summarize the major changes to guide the Panel s review. I
have kept the longitudinal study, which the entire Panel supported. In response to
the Panel s concerns about the experimental and speed dating studies, I have
dropped Studies 1 3 and replaced them with an experimental study that I have now
successfully piloted with 50 participants. This new study addresses Panel concerns
about the conceptualization of weight stigma and concerns that the manipulated
construct might have been general social stress or rejection rather than weight
stigma specifically. I have added a follow up point in the experience sampling study
to assess weight so as to test the entire model. I have taken to heart the criticism that
perceived overweight status is an imperfect selection variable; all studies now use
samples with BMI 25 ( overweight ) and above. Carefully

The Red Room was the earlier of the two stories written in 1896 by H.G. Wells and
The Darkness Out There , written by Penelope Lively was published in1984.
The titles of both stories suggest that fear or horror will play a part. The Darkness
Out There generates an eerie feeling by not defining a specific threat but leaving it
open to the imagination. The Red Room is not as scary but the use of red often shows
danger or fear and this is why it has been used here.

16. The Theme Of Characterism In Fellowship Of The Rings
Fellowship of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien is perhaps one of the most famous
books ever written, and for good reason. The book is innovative, compelling, and
repeatedly has you wondering what s next. It s main character, Frodo Baggins, goes
on a journey that by the end of the book has still yet to be completed. In The
Fellowship of the Ring, J.R.R. Tolkien shows that a hero must keep his desire to
complete his goal no matter what, through Frodo s temptation to return home, the
road of trials, and refusal of action.
Frodo shows the theme of sticking with your goal no matter what, through his choice
to continue with his journey to destroy the ring, despite his temptation to return
home. When the Fellowship is stuck in the middle of the blizzard at the start of their
journey, Gandalf explains that We still have our journey and our errand before us,
and says that We have no choice but to go on, or to return to Rivendell, (Tolkien,
pp. 287). Some of the group wants to return to Rivendell, while the rest of the
group wants to keep going. Ultimately, since Frodo is the ring bearer he exclaims I
wish I was back there, but how can I return without shame unless there is indeed no
other way, and we are already defeated, (Tolkien, pp.287). This comes to show that
even though the chance of them completing their journey is slim, Frodo decides to
keep going and to complete the task they set out for. This step in the story is the hero
s temptation to return home and it helps the

Machiavelli and the Use of Antiquity in The Prince and The Discourses
The Renaissance was a time of classical revival and a turning point from the Middle
Ages to the Early Modern period in the course of history. Ancient texts and artifacts
became sources of inspiration for intellectuals and artists alike, and the desire to
emulate or even surpass the achievements of the past prompted them to study
antiquities closely and saw them as models and guidance. People were consciously
distinguishing themselves from the medieval thoughts and using history to make
something new for their own era. In the field of political philosophy there s no
exception. Niccolo Machiavelli is perhaps the most representative and
groundbreaking figure of this trend in political philosophy. With his erudition in
ancient literature, histories and political thoughts, Machiavelli draws various sources
from antiquity to critic and response to the political environment of histime. While
one may find seemingly discrepancies in The Prince and The Discourse on the First
Ten Books of Tius Livy, the use of histories as guide to demonstrate or propose ideal
rules is apparent in both works. We should note that synthesizing ancient philosophy
or thoughts with contemporary thoughts is nothing new. Thomas Aquinas, for
example, reconciled Aristotelianism and Christianity in his work Summa Theologica,
using ancient antiquity to back up his Christian beliefs. What is so noteworthy in
Machiavelli is his emphasis and
18. The Economic Crisis Of 1997
The Indonesian economic crises that emerged out of the greater Asian Financial
Crises of 1997 is often presented as an example of an International Monetary Fund
(IMF) project that created problems for the receiving nation. As the video
Globalization at a Crossroads stated in its final words, It supported the case that
economic globalization actually increased economic instability. Indeed, there were
immediate, and in some cases, irreversible consequences of the IMF s intervention
into Indonesia s economy. Examples of negative consequences included riots, massive
inflation and contraction in the economy (Shari, 1998). However, through the lens of
the current Indonesian economy, almost 20 years later, IMF intervention may have
eventually worked as intended, as the country has demonstrated economic stability
and growth through several more contemporary economic crises.
In the beginning of the IMF s intervention in Indonesia, it seemed as though the IMF
could do nothing right. On multiple occasions, Suharto, Indonesia s dictator, had
upstaged and embarrassed the IMF and IMF officials. The embarrassment hit a high
note on May 14th, 1998 when riots and fires ran the remaining IMF delegation out of
the country, but not before they were shaken down by immigration officials in
exchange for food and water (Shari, 1998).
As Michael Shari reported in Business Week in 1998, the IMF s faith in Suharto as a
trustworthy and capable leader was severely flawed. At first, Suharto...won

people as well as a description of persons who are employed as specialists.

process, the psychologist needs to follow the professional standards set by the APA.

so many aspects of the selection process rely upon the observation, recording and

20. Analysis Of The Movie Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump tells the story of a man, who while slightly mentally and physically
challenged, is to lead a life full of experiences and wonderment. The audience is
teleported to the 1960 s American South and around the globe as they follow Forrest
on this journey. By using historical footage, he is placed in seemingly recorded
events. The simple love story is interwoven with the upheavals of the Vietnam era, the
violent war sequences and solitude he requires to make sense of his changing life.
The 1994 film, directed by Robert Zemeckis, works brilliantly on many fronts. The
casting of Tom Hanks in the title role and the supporting actors including Sally
Fields as Mrs. Gump and Gary Sinise as Lieutenant Dan, all work very well together.
But it is the unrequited love between Forrest and Jenny, played by Robin Wright, that
is the central narrative of the movie. While events would pull them apart, their
relationship was a key to the film s success.
The rich and timely musical score includes some of the iconic songs of the period
such as Blowin in the Wind by Joan Baez, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd
Skynard and Simon and Garfunkel s, Mrs. Robinson. The power and emotional
connection between the action on screen and the music score works wonderfully on
this movie. As the movie opens, we meet Forrest and Jenny as they board the
elementary bus to school. She is very pretty with straight blond hair while Forrest is
awkward and struggling to walk while in heavy metal leg

lesson to activate prior knowledge. I held up the candy cane and asked the students
what they see. I had some students comment that there is a red strip on the candy
cane. The students also noticed a white strip, and then they noticed that the red and
white create a pattern. I asked where is the pattern on the candy cane, and they
showed that the red and white strips move continually up the candy cane, it just

clearly see who was ready. I had created a candy cane so that I could do the activity
with the students so they could clearly see what needed to be done. I started by
having the students cut the red strips. It was interesting to see how students did
this. Some would cut straight across, and some students would have cuts that were
slanted. As the students were cutting I was walking around and was commenting
and how their candy canes were looking so far. I had the students place all the red
pieces on the white candy cane. Once most students were finished I told them to
take off every other red strip. I told the students that it is really important for the
element of space that you leave the red pieces where they where. This will add the
element of line into our candy cane. After that I had the students glue down the
pieces. Once the pieces were glued on I had the students take the brown square and
cut out a circle for the head. Then the students were told to put eyes and a mouth on
the circle. It was very interesting to see

23. The Relationship Between The World And Me, By Coates
Writes
In the novel, Between the World and Me, Coates writes a letter to his fifteen year
old son. He uses his personal experiences in order to explain the realities of being
African American to his son. He also reveals the scathing truth on the constant fear
present in society while growing up. Coates successfully shows how black people
experience of America was essentially different.
In the first part, Coates begins by introducing the idea of race. He explains how race is
an unchangeable characteristic, which is used to reduce and dehumanize people.
Furthermore, he states that attributing names based on personal appearances were not
originally used to characterize people, instead it was used originally to implement a
hierarchical system. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

interested him. He especially emphasizes Malcolm X, where he describes Malcolm
s writings to be very honest. Lastly, Coates mentions how Howard University was
his Mecca. He explains how his views expanded after attending Howard and how
his different love interests influenced him. In the second part, Coates begins by
recounting when he got pulled over by the PG County police. He describes the
thoughts and fears present in his mind during the wait. The numerous the different
news stories, where there were reports of officers choking, shooting, and abusing
people, invaded his mind. However, the officer simply gave back Coates his
license and offered no explanation to why he was pulled over. Unfortunately,
Coates had read an article which reported the death of Prince Jones later that month.
Upon learning the story, Coates was in utter shock. The article stated that the Jones
was shot because he attempted to run over the officer. Coates was adamant over the
fact that the officer was lying and refused to give forgiveness. Furthermore, he was
indignant towards the final verdict, where it was decided that the officer would be
set free. In addition, Marx continues on by describing his life in New

Dreams of Fame in Djerassi s Cantor s Dilemma
Opportunistic scientists, the most hypocritical deviants of the modern age, revolve
around the scientific method, or at least they used to. The scientific method once
involved formulating a hypothesis from a problem posed, experimenting, and
forming a conclusion that best explained the data collected. Yet today, those who are
willing to critique the work of their peers are themselves performing the scientific
method out of sequence. I propose that scientists, or the treasure hunters of that field,
are no longer interested in permanent solutions, achieved through proper use of the
scientific method, and rather are more interested in solutions that guarantee fame and
fortune. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Krauss is nothing more than a black mailing criminal and, as a opportunistic scientist
, is motivated by a lust for recognition.
The theme of scientists in search of the pot of gold is mentioned by the characters of
Cantor s Dilemma. Cantor states, ...most scientists suffer from some sort of
dissociative personality: on one side, the rigorous believer in the experimental
method, with its set of rules and its ultimate objective of advancing knowledge; on
the other, the fallible human being with all the accompanying foibles .1 Cantor
continues to describe the issue of simultaneous discovery and then strikes right at
the heart of the scientists who step beyond the bounds of the scientific method. He
states, ...a scientists drive, his self esteem, are really based on a very simple desire:
recognition by one s peers .2 Recognition is what the Nobel is about, and if a
fictional scientist has to ignore the methodology that governs science to get it, so be

In 1763 it was announced, that the British ministry had it in view to tax the colonies,
for the purpose of raising a revenue, which was to be placed at the disposal of the
crown. This news filled the colonies with alarm. In Massachusetts, a committee was
appointed by the people of Boston to express the public sentiment in relation to this
contemplated measure, for the guidance of the representatives to the general court.
The instructions of this committee were drawn by Mr. Adams. They formed, in truth,
a powerful remonstrance against the injustice of the contemplated system of taxation;
and they merit the more particular notice, as they were the first recorded public
document, which denied the right of taxation to the British parliament. They also
contained the first suggestion of the propriety of that mutual understanding and

our trade may be taxed, why not our lands? Why not the produce of our lands, and
every thing we possess, or use? This we conceive annihilates our charter rights to

The Discobolus, or discus thrower is one of the most iconic artworks of classical
antiquity. Originally sculpted in bronze by an Athenian man called Myron (born in
the fortress city of Eleutherae in the 5th century BC), the statue s many replications
by the Romans illustrate its significance in helping spawn an enduring image and
standard for physical idealism stretching beyond the culture that it originated from.
The evolution of such ideal standards for the human body s aesthetic are similarly
conveyed in an equally significant achievement in classical sculpture, Michelangelo s
David. Both of these pieces capture their respective audiences ideas of exceptional

The arc of the arms and shoulders prepared to launch the discus, and that of his
abdomen bending to give strength to its motion are juxtaposed perfectly, so as to
bring unshaken harmony to the thrower s body, even in the middle of performing
this physically taxing motion. As for the choice to depict the athlete as nude, this
had to be expected for the era of the statue s creation; ancient Greek society
frequently employed the use of nudity in such depictions of physical activities, as a
way of celebrating the potential of human body, as well as to serve as a model for
younger (in this case, male) Greek citizens becoming men. Furthermore, it was
common practice for Greek athletes to train in the nude, for less hindrance in the
activity itself, but also so that your technique or muscle groups could be more finely
critiqued and developed. In this way, Myron has captured the beauty of training the
human body, and the potential for what commitment to honing one s skills could
bring. Such a standard to reach for provided a valuable motivation for young Greek
men, and in tandem with the epics of Homer three centuries prior to the statue s
creation, the Discus Thrower served to inspire many generations of glory hungry
Greeks eager to meet the peak of their potential through conditioning. For all they
knew, any one of them might be the next to be immortalized in marble. Just

3:10 to Yuma follows this tradition of the quest or captivity narrative, as the plot is
structured around getting Bed Wade on the 3:10 train heading to Yuma prison. As a
notorious criminal and murderer, if he makes it to Yuma he will be sentenced to
death, intensifying the consequences. The film follows the Classical Hollywood
convention of using deadlines and appointments to drive the film s narrative and
plot. The goal of Dan Evans is to get him on the train or die trying. The contracts
states that Evans only needs to get Wade onto the train to receive his reward. The
film creates the sense of an epic journey from the Evans ranch to Contention, centred
on the building of the transcontinental railroad. The film s ending is an ambiguous
one. Wade surrenders himself and his weapons when boarding the train to Yuma. As
the train takes off around the bend, Wade whistles, summoning his trusted horse that
gallops alongside the train. It is suggested that Wade will escape as he has escaped
from Yuma prison twice before. 3:10 to Yuma follows the narrative strategy of an
ambiguous ending typical of the genre. The hero either departs or is killed at the end
of the film. He does not, however, conform or assimilate to the dominate values of the
community. The hero holds to his individuality strongly to the bitter end. As Wade
departs and Evans dies,
33. The Purpose Of Art And Its Felicity
Joseph Anton Koch The purpose of art and its felicity lies both in its aesthetic quality
as well is the instructive capacity of art, wherein the various perspectives employed
by artist s help to understand the particular period in which the work was created and
the influences that may have attributed to the final product. The early 19th centuryin
Europe was marked by a desire to return to the classicism of the Greek and Roman
empires as it connoted a sense of stability after the upheaval of the French revolution
which had brought down existing social, political and economic structures to an end.
The work ofJoseph Anton Koch, a German painter who chose to live in Rome and
imbibe the traditions of the classicists shows in his work a clear attachment to the
values of linear composition and idyllic subject matter and this is clearly apparent in
his monumental workHeroic Landscape with Rainbow, now a part of the European
gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York City. This work is an apt
illustration of the manner in which the neoclassical tradition of landscape painting
became an important part of the works of European painters of the early 19th century
as a means of portraying the kind of society which people aspired to after the
upheavals of the late 18th century. The heroic landscape as a painting genre had
achieved great popularity in the 17th century when artists like Nicholas Poussin and
Claude Lorrain captured the beauty of the natural environmentas a

Tom is a character who is trying to escape from his current reality of being stuck in
his current position, physically and socially, much like how the caged bird of
Angelou s poem is restrained. Because his father left, Tom is the main breadwinner
of the family, with his sister doing nothing, and his mother only doing some small
work selling magazine subscriptions over the phone. Throughout the play, we see
him struggle with this reality and sing his song through his arguments with his
mother, and his time spent late at night at the movies, which, as George W.
Crandell comments, provides both the impetus and a convenient excuse for
escape from unpleasant company and inhospitable surroundings (1). The cinema
is Tom s only way of escape from his life without truly hurting those around him,
even though it is only a temporary escape. His anger is quite evident throughout
the play, mainly though his arguments with his mother. During one of those
arguments in Scene 3 he truly expresses his feelings and his honest distaste of his
home and work. He says that he d rather have someone beat his brains out with a
crowbar than go to work every morning. He describes just how much he thinks that
he gives up to provide for his family, saying I go! For sixty five dollars a month I
give up all that I dream of doing and being ever! (Scene 3). He goes on to say that if
he thought of himself all the time, as he believes his mother believes he does, he
would have already left, just as his father did, illustrating just how far his hatred
for his home really goes. His exclamation, How lucky dead people are! (Scene 3)
really tells us just how much he hates having to go to his work. All of this points to
just how truly bitter and resentful Tom really is, and just how much he really wants
to escape his current cage. This is a near mirrored mindset of the caged

This book was originally published in 1861. Based on the lecture 2 note of week 4
first half of nineteen century was the economic growth era. In the South, the economy
was centered on agriculture and slavery, while in the North the economy was
depended on industrial manufacturing and machines. Since slaverywas not very

36. Literary Analysis Of Debra Marquart s The Horizontal
World
The upper Midwest is a region often viewed as unimportant or boring due to its
seemingly endless plains and uneventful daily life. In her memoir, The Horizontal
World, Debra Marquart challenges this view to show her fondness of the upper
Midwest. By using techniques including juxtaposition, realism, and references to well
known people/works, Marquart effectively manipulates her audience to agree with
her perception of the region. Juxtapositioning is typically used in a narrative to show
multiple events occurring at the same time or contrasting views which reveal a claim.
In this text, Marquet employs a creative use of the technique by using both real
events and referring to texts about the region in comparison to one another. For
example, Marquart compares Garrison Keillors Lake Wobegon, in which she
references, where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all
the children are above average with the Coen Brothers , Fargo, which she reminds
the audience is, the macabre land of murder by woodchipper. By comparing these
two dramatically contrasting works, Marquart places the idea in the audience s head
that this could be a region containing vast stories and interesting people. In addition,
both works are well known, giving the region a sense of importance. Marquart
continues to manipulate the audience in the following paragraph when positioning
the layout of the land with the opinions of the earliest assessors. By placing, easy

and explain how these elements work together in conjunction with the visual image,
to support the narration of the story. Consequently, this research seeks to answer the

It is within this framework that I consider important to study the way in which sound
is built and used in audiovisual products to narrate, generate sensations and configure
worlds , real and fantastic, respect to the reality of the history of fiction (which may
not coincide with reality as the viewer knows it in his own life, but that this
understands and accepts as the reality of history that is being counting within the
audiovisual piece).
As Balsam refers , a sound can create emphasis in any scene that is, can function as a
punctuation mark , when it accentuates and strengthens the visual image.
This time we will focus on the analysis of the sound of a film that, in addition, to be
well achieved according to my personal appreciation, has been nominated for
several awards for sound and has won some of them. It is then a proposal that, when
like others, it is convenient to analyze and understand, to take from it what works
best for us or interest, or for our future productions. For this I have chosen the feature
film Pan s labyrinth (2006) by director Guillermo del Toro; in charge of the sound
Martin
HernГЎndez, Jaime Baksht and Miguel ГЃngel Polo. I choose this movie because I
think, (and this is what I am trying to proof with this work) , that it has a sound
design very detailed and congruent with what the story tells, in which all the elements
come together to create a fantastic world fairy

example, when Cameron says that he is a French guide, or when Patrick goes about
just as he truly enjoys Katherine. Both the plots and the subjects are comparable in
the two stories.
Despite the fact that they appear to be completely indistinguishable, Taming of the
Shrew and 10 Things I Hate About You have unobtrusive contrasts. Case in point,
nobody in 10 Things I Hate About You gets hitched. Rather, they wind up dating, in
39. How Do Earthquakes Affect Japanese Life
The Japanese islands sit where several continental and oceanic plates meet. The two
continental plates are the Eurasian and North American Plates, while the oceanic
plates are the Pacific and Philippine Sea Plates. These four plates slowly grind each
other, which builds up seismic force, and when this force is released, the result is an
earthquake. More than 100,000 earthquakes strike Japan each year, big and small.
And if an earthquake occurs below or close to the ocean, a tsunamimay form.
Earthquakes have definitely affected Japanese life. The most major earthquakes in
Japanese history have taken a heavy toll of human lives and property. To prevent
some of the damage, scientists have been trying to predict the occurrence of
earthquakes

41. Otto Von Bismarck s Foreign Policy Affect The Creation
Of...
The creation of Germany was made possible through the great ideas of Otto von
Bismarck, the Prime Minister of Prussia. This investigation will explore the
question: How did Otto von Bismarck s foreign policy affect the creation of
Germany? The first source that will be analyzed is Jonathan Steinberg s Bismarck:
A Life. This is a very valuable source because Steinberg was a professor at
Cambridge University for 33 years teaching, he now teaches at the University of
Pennsylvania as professor of Modern European History. His teaching covers
modern Europe since 1789, primarily focusing on the German, Austrian Empires,
Nazi Germany, and Fascist Germany showing that he is very knowledgeable on
this topic. The purpose in writing this book is to illuminate the life of the
statesman who unified Germany but who also embodied everything ruthless about
Prussian culture (Steinburg i). Steinberg wants to give an insight on Bismarck s
life, the thinking, and how the type of person he was affected his plan in creating
Germany. In this book Steinberg heavily focuses on contemporary writing,
allowing Bismarck s friends and enemies to tell the story. I met and read the letters
and diaries of the greatest figures in Prussian society (x). This is a strength for it
allows the reader to see how Bismarck friends and foes viewed him as a leader
during the process. While the focus on contemporary writing is a strength, it is also a
limitation because some of the writing towards
42. Application Of Cellulases On Juice Recovery
Application of Cellulases on Juice Recovery
Introduction
Cellulose is the most abundant compound produced from stalks, leaves, and stems
(Shankar, 2011). The use of enzymes in the food industry provides safer and higher
quality products. Cellulases are enzymes which break down the sugar cellulose.
Cellulase enzymes are produced by fungi, animals, plants, and bacteria. (Zhang
2013) The cellulase enzyme has been used for various industry applications such as
the textile industry, paper industry, and juice industry. Cellulases link beta, 1,4
linkages in the cellulose chains (Zhang 2013). There are three types of cellulase
enzymes: endoglucanases, exoglucanases, and beta glucosidases. Exoglucanases
act on the reducing or non reducing ends of cellulose (Zhang, 2013).
Endoglucanases cut the nonreducing ends of cellulose or the beta 1,4 bonds.
Endoglucanases are also produced by bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals
(Zhang,2013). Lastly, beta glucosidases are produced by archaea, bacteria, fungi,
plants, and animals and are known for degrading cellobiose (Zhang, 2013). All three
forms of cellulases are produced from animals, bacteria, and plants. The purpose of
this paper will be to discuss mainly the cellulase enzyme and its effect on the juice
industry in addition to other applications of cellulase, and how cellulase behaves in
combination with other enzymes such as pectinase and xylanase.

43. How Did the Dinosaurs Die and Will It Affect Humans in
the...
Four and a half billion years ago, the debris and dust left from the formation of the
sun coalesced to form our home planet. 3.5 billion years ago, the first living
organisms appeared on Earth. About 230 million years ago, Dinosaurs diverged
from their Archosaurs ancestors during the middle to late Triassic period. For 160
million years they have dominated our planet. They are dubbed the most successful
species to have lived on Earth. However, 65 million years ago, the most recent
mass extinction seemed to have caused all of them to die off. What caused the
demise of the dinosaurs and 60% of life on Earth at the time? How did it affect life
on Earth afterwards? Are all of the Dinosaurs dead? Will this happen to humans in the
near future?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
None was found. Luis Alvarez was a Nobel Prize winning physicist, inventor and
pioneer in the field of radiation and nuclear research. He and his son, noted
geologist Walter Alvarez, were conducting research in Italy when they discovered a
centimeter thick layer of iridium enriched clay at the K T boundary. Iridium is rare
on earth, but more common in space. The Alvarezes published their findings in
1981, postulating that the thin layer of iridium was deposited following the impact
of a large meteor, comet or asteroid with the earth. Furthermore, this bolide impact
(the meteor, comet or asteroid colliding with the earth s surface) could have caused
the extinction of the dinosaurs. At the time, the Alvarez theory was so farfetched
from prevailing hypotheses that it was derided. Slowly, other scientists began
finding iridium evidence at various places around the globe that corroborated the
Alvarez theory. There was, however, no smoking gun in the form of an impact site.
Then in 1991, a massive meteor crater 110 miles in diameter was discovered on the
edge of the YucatГЎn Peninsula, extending into the Gulf of Mexico. The Chicxulub
Crater, as it was dubbed, was named for a nearby village. Scientists believe the
bolide that formed it was roughly 6 miles in diameter, struck the earth at 40,000
miles per hour and released 2 million times more
44. The Dollie Dwelling
I balanced carefully atop the chair as I rattled through a menagerie of bottles and
gift bags. Unexpectedly, as I pushed a bottle out of my way, I could hear distinct
sounds coming from it. I pulled the bottle out of the closet to investigate. What I
saw inside the bottle was astounding. There were tiny, doll sized people inside a
doll sized bottle house! Very gently, I took the bottle and placed it on a nearby
table. Amazingly, the people inside the house didn t pay any attention to me. They
talked in tiny voices, too quiet for me to understand. I was too eager to think. Hi
guys!! Nice place! I whispered at the bottle. Needless to say, the tiny people were
startled. Vivienne! Coxey! Come quick! There s a...monster outside! I heard one of
the tiny dolls shout. Two dainty girls entered the room from a ladder. All the people,
there were four of them, turned to face me. One of them, with wavy black hairand a
frilly red dress, spoke up. Who are you?! And what do you want here? I ll have you
know that I am Mistral Papillon, world renowned explorer, she said, in a striking,
cold manner. I looked at them and smiled lightly. Um... sorry to disturb you? You
were just in my closet in a bottle. I hate to break it to you, but you re just tiny little
dolls in a tiny little house in a bottle, I told Mistral Papillon calmly. The dolls were
taken aback by this. They looked at one another, speaking in whispers. We never
knew...everything I know is a lie now... by the way, I m
45. Not In Touch With Personal Power
It doesn t take much effort to notice that some people are more empowered than
others. But while it may appear that empowered people have something empowered
people don t, inherently we all have the same power.
The defining factor is that some people are in touch with and connected to this power
and some people are not.
Reasons
And there are many reasons as to why someone is or is not in touch with their
personal power. This can relate to: the kind of childhood one has experienced; how
one responded to their childhood; the friends that one has and the people they have
come across; how resilient one is and many other factors.
There is also the social aspect here and how mainstream society s often discourage
ones personal power and actively foster dependence on the ... Show more content on

One can then end up being caught up in their feelings or thoughts and react to them.
And how they behave will then depend on these internal aspects and not conscious
decisions.
Consequences
When this sense of personal power hasn t been realised it can lead to all kinds of
consequences. The desire to control others is one of these consequences and one of the
more common examples.
Another thing that can happen is the idealisation and elevation of other people. To
admire another human being and to respect their achievements is one thing. It is
another to see someone else as being superior and as having something that one does
not have themselves. When this takes place, one is giving their own power away and
denying what they have within them.
Certain societal figures can then feed on this power that is being given to them by
people. This can explain how authority figures, such as those in the political arena,
often have so much power; it s because so many people have renounced their own.
