Essay On Independence Day
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Independence Day" may present both a rewarding challenge
and an opportunity for insightful exploration. The difficulty lies not in the scarcity of
information but in the delicate balance required to capture the essence of the topic while
maintaining a fresh perspective. One must navigate the vast sea of historical facts, cultural
significance, and personal reflections, ensuring that the narrative weaves seamlessly between
these elements.
The challenge arises in presenting a unique viewpoint that transcends the clichГ©s commonly
associated with Independence Day essays. It demands a thorough understanding of the historical
context, an appreciation for the multifaceted impact of independence on a nation, and an ability
to articulate these complexities cohesively. Striking the right balance between being informative
and engaging is no small feat, as the temptation to delve into an excessively academic or overly
sentimental tone can be hard to resist.
Moreover, the task involves not only commemorating the historical events but also delving into
the contemporary relevance of independence. Analyzing the evolving nature of freedom, its
challenges, and the responsibility it places on individuals and societies adds an additional layer
of complexity to the writing process.
Ultimately, the difficulty lies in transcending the surface-level observations and crafting an essay
that resonates with readers on a deeper level. Achieving this requires a blend of research, critical
thinking, and creative expression. It demands the writer's ability to connect the dots between
historical events, cultural nuances, and personal reflections to create a narrative that is both
insightful and thought-provoking.
In conclusion, while the task of writing an essay on Independence Day is undoubtedly
challenging, it is also an opportunity for personal growth and exploration. Navigating the
complexities of history, culture, and individual experiences requires a delicate touch, but the end
result can be a piece that not only commemorates the past but also offers valuable insights for
the present and future.

Harry Potter Sorcerer s Stone Morals
JK Rowling, one of the most well known authors, has an incredible $848 million net
worth from the Harry Potter franchise according to MoneyNation, Rowling has
made a fortune all thanks to her Harry Potter novels. In her first novel Harry Potter
and the Sorcerer s Stone, Rowling answers many people s very tough question: What
happens when they are forced to choose between what they think is right and risking
getting hurt or in trouble, or not standing up for what they believe in but staying safe
and out of trouble. Harry Potterand the Sorcerer s Stone would suggest that standing
up for what they think is the most important thing even if it can get them in trouble or
hurt. Rowling reveals this through the character of Harry Potter, a young boy that
finds out that he is a wizard.
In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone, Rowling tells the story of Harry Potter.
Harry is a boy living with his very cruel Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, and cousin,
Dudley in England. A letter was addressed and sent to Harry, but Uncle Vernon and
Aunt Petunia won t allow Harry to open it, but many more letters are sent to Harry
as well. A big man named Hagrid then comes and tells Harry that he is a wizard and
has been accepted to one of the finest Wizarding schools, Hogwarts. Harry ends up
meeting Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, two kids that are also going to
Hogwarts that eventually turn out to be Harry s best friends. When Harry gets to
Hogwarts, he is picked to Gryffindor, probably the best school house. Harry then
meets Professor Snape, the potions teacher, who seems to hate Harry very much.

How Perfectionism Can Translate Into Eating Disorder...
This study was conducted in an ethical manner. The study had institutional approval,
sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health, received informed consent from
participants, and publication credit (American Psychological Association, 2010). The
next study subject studied how perfectionism can translate into eating disorder
pathology. The purpose of the article is to examine the relationship of eating
disorders with the role of body dissatisfaction (Boone, Soenens, Luyten, 2014). The
hypothesis of the study is that when someone is a perfectionist, and they do not like
their body, they are more likely to develop an eating disorder. The conclusion of the
study is that there should be programs that focus on both perfectionism and body
dissatisfaction, because it it the two of them combined that cause eating disorders
(Boone, Soenens, Luyten, 2014). The factors being examined in this study is that
perfectionism and body dissatisfaction can lead a person to develop an eating
disorder. It examines the role between personal standards, perfectionism and
evaluative concerns perfectionism. Yes, these variables, and the relationship between
them have been studied before. The studies have found that there is a relationship
between the variables that will lead to an eating disorder. This demonstrates there is
historical significance. This study uses empirical, longitudinal, and quantitative study
as it s methodology. The research design was descriptive and

The Siege Of Alesia, By Julius Caesar Essay
The Siege of Alesia, also known by the name Battle of Alesia, led by Julius Caesar
of the Roman Republic against Vercingetorix of the Gallic tribes, was a very
influential battle apart of the Gallic Wars that took place in what is known today as
Alise Sainte Reine in France. These wars started with the Conquest of Gaulin 52
B.C.E. by Julius Caesar, who began all of the fighting because of the threat that he
had perceived from the Gallic threat to Italy, specifically Rome. He was appointed
as the governor to the Cisalpine and Transalpine Gauls with absolute authority.
Over time he slowly conquered the Gallic tribes known as the Helvetii, Belgae, and
Nervii, which brought in a lot of money because of a larger amount to tax. With this
success and huge gain in money also came enemies like Marcus Porcius Cato who
began campaigns to overthrow Caesar. Caesar had run into trouble in his attempt to
invade Britain, trouble being the Gauls led by Ambiorix, destroying Roman
resources, about one fourth of the Roman army, and a fairly large amount of the food
supply, causing the Romans to go into a defense mode. Because of this change into a
defensive stance the Gallic tribes noticed that they could regain independence from
Rome with war, declaring Vercingetorix, a prince from the Arverni tribe from modern
day France, as one of the army commanders for the Gallic tribes who united to
defeat Caesar. Vercingetorix beat Caesar at the Batlle of Gergovia with his guerilla
warfare strategies,
Tanner Glass s Role In Professional Sports
In most recent New York Rangers news. Ice hockey winger Tanner Glass has been
pulling his weight around the team for some time now. But he also made his status
in the National Hockey League by occasionally tossing the gloves and getting in
other opponents faces, but he s done well to stay on the right side of the rules.
Glass has only met with the NHL s Department of Player Safety once in his career,
occurring late in the 2014 2015 season for an end thrown on the Boston Bruins
defenseman Adam McQuaid. Since that incident the hockey veteran hasn t been in
trouble with the league. That may change as soon as Wednesday. In the final
minutes of the first period on Tuesday night, Glass lined up and shook up Tampa
Bay Lightning s center, Vladislav Namestnikov long after the 23 year old had already
moved the puck.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Glass violent hit earned him a major interference and a misconduct, while
Namestnikov remained on the ice for a couple of moments before heading to the
Lightning s back room. Thankfully for the Lightnings, who are dealing with an
unfortunate number of injuries, Namestnikov was able to return to the contest in
the second quarter of the game. The angles available of Glass check make it
difficult to tell where exactly the initial contact of the puck is made. But, from
what can be seen on the Madison Square Garden feeds, it appears as though Glass
smashes into Namestnikov shoulder to shoulder. There s a chance for an
interference play to earn a suspension, and there s a chance Glass becomes the fifth
Rangers player this season suspended for interference. If the league does decide to
suspend, Namestnikov s health and Glass history will be taken into account. Both of
those should fall in favor of Glass, who has no suspension history, as Namestnikov

Doctors can even use the images to create a black and white image that looks like an
actual endoscopy.[29]
Virtual endoscopy has some advantages over standard endoscopy; nothing is put
into the body and no drugs are needed for the test and the doctor can change the
angle or magnify the image, which can help with diagnosis. However, there are
some disadvantages, too. Virtual endoscopy shows good detail, but it s not quite as
good at showing fine surface detail as standard endoscopy such that it can t show
color differences. It also exposes the patient to about the same amount of radiation as
a standard CT. And because nothing is put into the body, the doctor can t take biopsy
samples or remove growths. If something abnormal is found, the patient may still
need a standard endoscopy.
According to Pauriol Lacaze, S. et al. [30] virtual endoscopy is a considerably new
procedure, and doctors aren t yet sure how best to use it. It will likely be used more
in the future as the technology

most. With the results, I got an equal amount of being a visual learner and a
kinesthetic learner. The second question I asked was about why they preferred that
learning style the most. The results showed that people liked to be hands on and
liked to see what was happening and how something should have been done.
The third question I asked was about what learning style everyone preferred the least.
With the results, I learned that everyone preferred the auditory learning style the

Dehumanization Of Genocide
INTRODUCTION
Throughout history there have been atrocious crimes committed against humanity.
Those responsible for these mass murders were usually governments, political
leaders, or rebels. The justification for these inhumane crimes varied from
discrimination of race, religion gender or ethnicity. These mass murders are also
known as genocide. To make matters worse, for a period of time a majority of those
responsible for these unspeakable crimes were not prosecuted. The reason being is
that there was no way to bring the perpetrators to justice especially with the volume
of victims. This left a feeling of vain and injustice for many victims. As time
progressed systems, courts, and laws were implemented to handle this serious crime.

It is critical that there should be a swifter and quick response implemented. The
reason being is that with this specific crime, for each day no action is taken the
more lives are in despair, misplaced and killed. The issue here and what clearly
happened in Rwanda was negligence on the United Nations be half. If nations are
aware of the situation occurring there should be a more thorough investigation, for
clarification to take action. Rather than bickering over political interests and
financial costs nothing will be accomplished if no action is taken. The response to
certain types killings are not being acknowledged as genocide, and lack of
enforcement is a major flaw in international law. Not addressing the outcome can be
catastrophic. Again, this is a crucial step to preventing certain crimes like this from
occurring

Okay, I ll be out in a minute, I replied. I promptly jammed my shoes into my bag,

Marcus Brutus as Tragic Hero in Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
In many stories there is a tragic hero. The hero finds out about himself and the
people around him in the story. In Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar, Marcus Brutus
is the tragic hero. The play Julius Caesar is about politics and betrayal in ancient
Rome. Brutus is part of the senate, which is below Caesar, who is soon to be
crowned. The senate wants to overthrow Caesar to save Rome. To do this the senate
has to get Brutus on their side and help them kill Caesar. Shakespeare portrays
Marcus Brutus as a honorable naive about the character of men. Marcus Brutus fits
Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero in a tragedy, in which is he is not good nor evil,

After the death of Caesar, Brutus feels guilty, and alone, which shows he is human.
At this, Brutus lets us know that he has a conscience. So alone that he wants to kill
himself. When Brutus stabs Caesar along with ten other men, Brutus is a little cruel.
While eulogizing Caesar after his death, he was not as patient and sympathetic
towards Caesar and the people as Antony s speech. In his speech, Brutus tries to
defend him and the other men who had also stabbed Caesar, showing that he is afraid.
Marcus Brutus also fits the definition of a tragic hero by being of noble status. To be
of noble status, Brutus had to be born into a noble family, which he was.
lt;blockquote gt;My ancestors did from the streets of Rome
the Traquin drive when he was called a king

To speak and strike? O Rome, I make thee promise,

Brutus is Caesar s right hand man, along with Antony. Brutus being a senator makes
him noble, especially when nobility is in his family. When Brutus stabs Caesar,
Caesar is shocked that Brutus was in on the assassination. Caesar being shocked
proves that Brutus was not the sort of man that would stab Caesar if it had not had
been for the manipulating Cassius. Brutus being noble

Exodus begins the story of God s revelation to his people Israel through Moses,
who leads them out of Egypt (Exodus 1 18) to Mount Sinai. There the people
accept the covenant with God, agreeing to be his people and abide by his holy Law,
in return for his agreeing to be their God, and protect and defend them from their
enemies, and provide for and prosper them . Moses receives the Torah from God, and
teaches His laws and Covenant (Exodus 19 24) to the people of Israel. It also talks
about the first violation of the covenant when the Golden Calf was constructed
(Exodus 32 34). Exodus includes the instructions on building the Tabernacle and
concludes with its actual construction (Exodus 25 31; 35 40).
Leviticus begins with instructions to the Israelites on how to use the Tabernacle,
which they had just built (Leviticus 1 10). This is followed by rules of clean and

Leviticus 26 provides a detailed list of rewards for following God s commandments

Equiano and his sister were kidnapped by two men and a woman never to see his

Two white men tied his feet. One white man held his hands while the other flogged

When the ship reached Barbados the slaves were put into a pin like animals. At the

Cultures And Beliefs Of The Blackfoot Indian Tribe
The Blackfoot Indian Tribe The Blackfoot Indians were a very remarkable tribe.
They have unique and interesting way to live, which I find fascinating. They live in
the Northwestern United States and Canada. The Blackfoot Tribe consists of four
Blackfoot nations who have the same cultural background but different leaderships.
Those nations are the Siksika Nation, the Kainai or Blood Nation, the Pikanii or
Peigan Nation, and the BlackfeetNation. The BlackfootIndians are a nomadic
American Indian tribe that migrated to the to Northwestern United States. The first
three nations are in Alberta, Canada and the fourth nation is in Montana. Most
Blackfoot people still live in this region today. The Blackfoot Indians had a unique
culture that was very important to them. The Blackfeet speak Algonquian, an eastern
native language, this made many believe that the Blackfeet migrated to the Great
Plainsfrom the eastern woodlands many centuries before Europeans came to
America. This made them one of the oldest Great Plains tribes. Their culture
revolves around warfare. They mostly eat bison (buffalo) and horse. Since, the
Blackfeet were nomadic they lived in Buffalo skin tipis, that could be moved easily.
They depended on the buffalo everywhere the went. The buffalo was used for their
food, clothing, shelter, and equipment. They had no interests in art . For example,
pottery and basketry. The Blackfeet also occasionally hunted other game, such as
deer, moose, and elk. The women

From 2006 to 2007, Japan s inflation rate took a rapid increase from negative
inflation in 2006 to positive inflation rate in 2007. This sharp increase in inflation
rate was likely to be due to the world s shortage of rice crisis. As rice is Japan s
main source of stable food, the rice crisis push up rice prices globally, causing the
inflation rate in Japan to rise sharply. Currently, there are speculation that Japan s
inflation rate may rose at the fastest pace in the decade as companies facing the
global economic crisis may pass higher costs to consumers.
Prices of daily necessities rose while pay stagnated, causing a sharp increase in
consumer price index and thus the increase in inflation rate.

The Life Of Gerald Gilliam

G Eazy, or Girard Earl Gilliam was born May 24th 1989 and is a producer and hip

with his mother to North Oakland. When he was 12 years his mother started

embarrassed, Gillum eventually began to enjoy Mills company. However, Gilliam
s life soon took a tragic turn when he came home after school and found Mills dead

Another great example of Gilliam s use of imagery is the repeated chorus
Swimming in money . ( Owens.) With this line Gilliam to is not only appealing to
the current popular rap culture, which is predominantly made up of songs talking
about money and the subsequent use of it, but is also mocking said culture, himself
included. Gilliam almost appears to be at loss for what he should do with this
money, as he comments on Which automatically makes your mind think of a bathtub
full of money or cash. But what I really think he s saying is that he has so much
money he doesn t know what to do with it, evidenced by the lines They all take the
money for granted. But don t want to work for it tell me now, isn t it funny? Nah . (
Owens.) A final great example of imagery is when Gilliam raps about Having
dreams that I m folding cake , ( Owens.) a scenario that could take many forms.
Although initially many people would hear as a relatively straightforward idea,
Gilliam wanting cake, there is a much deeper meaning behind this line. Gilliam
grew up poor, and as shown in the famous (yet misquoted) line by Marie Antoinette,
cake is oftentimes seen as a delicacy afforded to only the rich. This line in particular
sets up the main theme of Me, Myself and I , which is Gallium s determination to
make it on his own.
Gilliam really hits on this theme during the chorus, where he repeats the line Solo

Ritual Dances By Lucile Armstrong
When thinking of dance, most people think about ballet such as The Nutcracker,
Swan Lake, or even Beauty and the Beast. Dance first started out as a ritual.
According to HistoryWorld In most ancient civilization, dance before the god is an
important element in the temple ritual . Ritual dancing bring men as they celebrate
their necessities. These necessities include food, shelter, safety, and surviving natural
disasters. These ritual dances brought the communities together to celebrate their
accomplishments. According to Lucile Armstrong writer of Ritual dances states that
The first section of will deal with ritual dances not using sticks or swords
necessarily, but with similar intent. The second will describe some stick dances. The
third section will refer to sword dances, or dances connected with swords . It is stated
that the stick danceis done in the early mornings before most people are awake. This
dance can also be performed in the evening of the 21st and on the eve of the great day.
There are about ten rituals that are still being performed today. The first dance that
is still performed today is called the Cannibalism and Necrophagy. This ritual dance
is found from the city of Varanasi, India. This dance is about eating the dead, it
believed that the greatest fear humans beings have is the fear of their own deaths. The
Indians say that this fear is a barrier to spiritual enlightenment. The second ritual is
the sun dance this is performed by the Native Americans.
Therapeutic Background Of Equine Therapy
The Therapeutic Background of Equine Therapy
Therapeutic horseback riding, a type of equine assisted psychotherapy, is a form of
social, physical and emotional therapy. In Ancient Greek, horseback riding was a well
known treatment for people who wished to rid themselves of physical or mental
ailments. However, it wasn t until 1900 that therapeutic horseback riding began to be
used in Canada and the United States. Nevertheless, after being introduced, equine
therapy slowly gathered momentum across North America and, by 1969, a group of
equine therapists founded the first specialized equestrian therapy centre. In the same
year, the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) was

Equine therapy is a strongly recommended form of therapy for a variety of
disabilities, diseases and disorders. In particular, equine therapy is increasingly
popular for people with multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, traumatological diseases,

Introduction to video and clarification of the applied theoretical perspective.
The video of School girl attacks identifies an attack on school girls in Kandahar,
Afghanistan. Zahira, who is a 13 year old, is interviewed by NBC told her story
about the attack. Zahira, who always showed excitement about attending school, lost
her joy after the attack on her and five other girls. The attack took place during the
girls walk from school.

Dysfunctions, not part of a society that contributes to its stability all the time. This
is an element or process of a society that may disrupt the social system or reduces
stability. There have been hundreds of school related attacks in Afghanistan over
the past year alone but nothing like this, (NBC News, 2011). This has caused a
disruption in their society. This disruption created the need for the military
presence for security. How a person evaluates a dysfunction depends on your point
of view. Like the guards in prison have come to view the gangs as part of the
functional part of their jobs, (G. Scott 2001). The danger the Taliban possess and
the attacks on the girls created the same dysfunctional view as the guards and a need
for security from the Military. The military presence is based on the danger that
exist, without the attacks from the enemy there would not be a need for the military,
no jobs for the soldiers, and the training the soldier provided for Afghan police would
not exist.
Specific examples from the video from the viewpoint of the designated theoretical
approach. Functionalist s theoretical approach emphasizes the contribution it makes
to social stability in Afghanistan. According to NBC News, Zahira always looked
forward attending school until one morning last month walking to the school in
Kandahar with her older cousin, Chauncy. Just outside the school
Music and Race Essay
Although artists do not create certain music to cure diseases or to make scientific
or technological discoveries, music is one thing society can never live without. To
both artists and their listeners, music provides an indispensible beauty that helps
fulfill lives, and connect to nature. Music expresses the human condition in the
purest way and affects everyone at a personal level. Plato, a well known classical
Greek philosopher once said, If you want to measure the spiritual depth of society,
make sure to mark its music. Generally performer collaborate songs to represent the
popular pop culture, and social issues, and wish for their society as well as their
current era. For instance, controversial issues such as sex, violence, racism... Show

The main theme of the blues was built upon racism in the surrounding. The music
expressed the bad treatment, and starvation that blacks received from the dominant
race. An example of the music is by Ma Rainey, who was one of the earliest
connections between the male country blues artists that roamed the backroads of
the South and their female equivalent; she made her professional debut in 1900 at
the age of l4 at the Springer Opera House in Columbus, Georgia. She was one of the
first to feature the blues on stage. Ma Rainey said from Chain Gang Blues :
Many days of sorrow, many nights of woe,
Many days of sorrow, many nights of woe,
And a ball and chain, everywhere I go.
Nowadays the blues revolve around the meaning of sadness but doesn t have a true
message of fighting for survival or deprivation of freedom. In the process of
searching for the modern day blues, it was discovered that the music is compiled by
mostly Caucasian artist compared to the past where it was conceived by blacks to
prompt their practices and beliefs.

Financial and non financial trade organizations and institutions in Canada
There are lots of different financial and non financial organizations and institutions in
Canada; however, the focus will be on several of them such as Global Affairs Canada,
Ministry of International Trade, Enterprise Toronto, EDC, TFO etc.

Introduction In pyschology conformity can be descibed as an indiviual s tendency
to follow the unspoken rules or behaviours of the social group to which he/she
belongs to or wants to be apart of. Many psychologists including , Jenness (1932),
Sherif (1935) both experimented in psychology, investigating conformity and group
pressure. However, perhaps the most famous conformity experiment was done by
Solomon Asch (1951) and his line judgment experiment. (McLeod 2007) Solomon
Asch was a psychologist that conduced numerous expirments designed to illustrate
the increasing conformity within social groups. The experiments also invesigated
the effect the number of people present within the group had one the conformity
rate. Asch hypothesized, that the majority of the people would not conform to
something obviosly wrong; however, when surrounded by (other) individuals all
voicing an incorrect answer, 75% of them(the participant) will conform to the
groups answer (Watzlawick 1976) In the experiment solomon had two boards; one
showing three lines of different lengths ( boardA) and another with one line( board
B). The group of people were then asked which line on board A looked similar to the
one on board B.
The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West
Imagine a child that was born with a bright green tint to their skin and had razor
sharp teeth. This happened to Melena Thropp in the book The Life and Times of
the Wicked Witch of the West, written by Gregory McGuire. The Broadway musical
Wicked, by Winnie Holzman, was based on this novel. When it made its debut it
astounded the world as it won many awards. Wickeddraws in many people because
they can relate to the feeling of being ostracized the way Elphabawas. In the 21st

had purposely crashed two of the planes into the Twin Towers. A third plane had
then been crashed into the Pentagon. The first plane had crashed at 8:46 in the
morning. The plane had crashed between the 80th and 110th floor. 18 minutes after
the first crash another plane had crashed into the south tower near the 60th floor.
Fifteen minutes later the south tower collapsed causing a huge cloud of dust to
arrive. At 10:30 a.m. the second tower collapsed. 3000 people were killed in this
disaster (History.com Staff). It is a day America will never forget. One thing that has
really progressed in the 21st century is the technology. In 2005 YouTube was

The On Liberty By John Stuart Mills
ON LIBERTY In John Stuart Mills profound work, On Liberty he preaches against
the conformity of the nations and outwardly encourages and restlessly defends voice
of the individual. The philosopher expresses the importance of individuality by
warning against forces such as the government and other citizens silencing their
opinion. Though Mill s gives due recognition to virtues such as free speech, liberty
and individualism he also rightly places limitations on our freedoms to ensure our
own freedoms do not infringe upon the ones of those around us. In essence, I believe
that Mill s insightfully provides a logical answer to society on how to live and how to
allow others to live; freely unless harm will ensue. By Mills statement that, [i]f all
mankind minus one were of one opinion, mankind would be no more justified in
silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing
mankind one can gain insights into his justification for this argument, the limitations
that should rightly be placed on free speech, the assumptions that are the basis for this
argument. Throughout Mills essay he argues against the oppressive tyranny of the
government in silencing the opinions of others. He warns that, there needs to be
protection also against the tyrant of the prevailing opinion of feeling; against the
tendency of society to impose... its own ideas on those who dissent from them (Mills
9). Further, Mills justifies this statement by
Essay On Eastern European Human Trafficking
Eastern Europe: The Trafficking of People Slavery is when individuals are
possessed and controlled by different persons, and they have limited to no freedom.
In Eastern Europe slavery ended in 1528, but human trafficking has been carrying on
for myriads of years. A few decrees did not stop the appalling crime called human
trafficking. By definition human trafficking is current day slavery; people that are
victims are confined and worked until they are physically incapable to any longer.
Many people turn a blind eye to human trafficking. Despite the insignificant efforts of
various governments, Eastern European human trafficking is on the rise, contributing
to an increase in the economic exploration of the victims of human trafficking.
The state of human trafficking has developed through the decade and there has been
an increase. In the year 2000 only eight cases of human trafficking were recorded,
soon after in 2008, there were thirty seven cases reported in forty of the European
countries(Sarrica 5). Of those forty countries, ... Show more content on

The Television Sitcom Friends By Virginia Kantra
The television sitcom Friends has the six main characters involved in many
relationships throughout each season. Since season one, Ross and Rachel have
been referred to as the power couple, the glue that holds everyone together, and
according to television critics as CBS they are, probably the most iconic TV
couple in recent memory ( The Best TV 3). This being said, the couple was a
known favorite and attracted many people to the sitcom. This relationship is the
favorite because it has what an audience wants from a relationship. According to
award winning, New York Times bestselling author Virginia Kantra, audiences want
relationships to have, physical attraction, emotional conflict, and scenes that foster
emotional intimacy (Kantra 1). The relationship that Ross and Rachel have is a
prime example of this all. It is known that Ross has a physical attraction to Rachel
since grade school, but Rachel also sitcoms her attraction to Ross with various
flirtatious acts. Even though Ross and Rachel seem to be the perfect couple, they
have had their fair share of emotional conflict. The well known we were on a break
fight causes comical scenes between the two. Rachel will always make it clear that
Ross cheated on her, but Ross claims that they were on a break. The couple has an on
and off relationship throughout the sitcom because of these many conflicts. When the
couple finally gets together at the end of season ten, everything felt complete. As
many Friendsfans know, Phoebe
Folly Vs Erasmus
Erasmus in The Praise of Folly did something that was very different from writers
before him and created a piece that was written differently, free thinking, and went
against the authorities of the time. Erasmus created a piece that is truly modern and
inspires other free minded individuals to write freely and express their own beliefs.
In The Praise of Folly, Erasmus created a piece very different and very innovative
for the time. Erasmus may have been the author of this piece, but he was not the
narrator, instead it was Folly that was the narrator of this work. Comparatively to
works seen in the middle ages where works were typically about religion and the
narrator played a very small part on the work. Also, it was atypical if there was
Poverty Of Sharecroppers And Unemployed Industrial
Workers
Poverty of Sharecroppers vs Unemployed Industrial Workers Poverty has been a
big issue over the past century or so and continues to be a problem to this day in
the United States. Due to the Civil War, rural areas and industrial areas were
affected by poverty. The poverty of rural sharecroppers in 1877 was different from
the poverty of unemployed industrial workers in 1939. Even though both situations
were dealing with a form of poverty, both were two completely different situations.
There were several major events that happened that caused poverty of rural
sharecroppers in 1877. Although there were various events leading up to the
poverty of unemployed industrial workers in 1939, poverty in the year of 1877 was
just as bad, if not worse, as in the year of 1939. There are several major events that
happened after the Civil War that led up to poverty. In 1865, Southern states started
issuing out black codes after the Civil War. Black codes were intended to restrain
African Americans freedom. It made it illegal for an African American to be
unemployed or to quit a job, which made them slaves even though they were getting
paid low wages. In 1866, the 14th Amendment was passed by Congress, which
granted citizenship for all Americans, not just white Americans, but African
Americans too. This Amendment got endorsed by the states, which became known as
the Reconstruction Amendment two years later in 1868. In 1870, the states were
obligated to enforce the 15th Amendment due the

In this week s reading and video assignment, I learned a lot about living as a low
income individual on the streets and in substandard housing. In the article Living
with roaches and mold in run down apartments risks illness, injury the author,
Barbara Anderson, argues that living as a low income individual affects your health
in many ways including mental state. Anderson addresses how people living in
substandard housing acquire many health conditions based on the wellness of the
house. Homes being in substandard condition is seen as having mold, pests, and
punctured screens that will let in insects with infections. An infected mosquito can
come in through a missing screen and give people infections with one bite. Parents
are overrun with stress because of the harmful conditions their children and
themselves are enduring. The author uses many studies including The Los Angeles
Study as evidence to show how tenants were found physically and mentally ill with
respiratory issues, viral infections, and stress because of the conditions of the
house. In the video Lost Angels: Skid Row is my Home, more than half of
homeless people living on Skid Row are mentally ill. Many went to an asylum for
help, but were rejected or had to leave. Much of the suffering endured by these
homeless people is due to the government not understanding them. The video shows a

All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy
Cormac McCarthy is a man who holds few interviews. Even today, he is known as
one of the world s greatest, most prolific authors though most of his personal
opinions are left unreported. In a rare interview with a New York Times journalist,
McCarthy says the philosophical words: There s no such thing as life without
bloodshed completely revealing the coveted theme of his novel, All the Pretty Horses.
Considering the amount of violence that manifests itself in the book; Blevins murder,
the prisonfight, and the gunfight between John Grady and the ranch workers; all of
which results from Grady s pursuit of a peaceful life, the theme McCarthy wished
to broadcast, a theme of inescapable violence, was true in its delivery. John Grady
left his home in Dallas, Texas to make a home in Mexico. He was in pursuit of a
life in which freedoms are generously given and previous negative memories he had
wouldn t exist. Along the way, Grady met a young, prideful boy known by the name
Jimmy Blevins. Initially, Grady regarded him as a nuisance but, eventually Blevins
gained his acceptance and together they crossed the Rio Grande. In Mexico, however,
they were separated, and finally reunited in a jail cell. Blevins was soon taken away
and shot. After hearing the crack of the gun, Grady ...almost reached to pull down the

Equal Rights For Women And Women s Rights
We re in the 21st century and still women are being harassed, are not receiving
equal pay, same leadership opportunities, treatment in the workplace, and other
equal rights that women should have. We ve been through many movements
including the Women s Suffrage March in 2017, which was a peaceful protest in
which both women and men came out to support each other after the election, and
protested about their personal rights as women. We haven t progressed much
except for more people speaking up about this. It s basically mild segregation based
on gender. Recently, some women have created a campaign #MeToo, where women
started posting about men treating them unfairly. Eventually, more women started
calling men out, and more men are losing their chances for a political position.
One of the significant #MeToo political incidents includes Ray Moore, Republican
Candidate for Senate, being stood up by many women about sexual harassment.
More women are basically saying, We ve had it. The reason? Well, women are just
fed up with how they re being treated. Pretty simple as that. Anne McElhaney, a 8th
grader at Swanson Middle School, talks about her views and experience with the
women s rights movements, including the most recent women s march. I heard about
the women s march, and saw it all over the news. I wasn t able to go to it, but I

Catecholamines and Cortisol Help to Fight Stress
When stress occurs, our bodies respond by releasing hormones that help our bodies
deal with the stress. Catecholamines (epinephrine and norepinephrine) and cortisol
are hormones that are major players in the stress response (McCance Huether, 2010).
Catecholamines share some common physiologic actions with cortisol.
Catecholamines and its metabolic actions are similar to those of cortisol. Both
catecholamines and cortisol cause an increase in blood glucose through increased
gluconeogenesis (McCance Huether, 2010). Gluconeogenesis is the production of
glucose when the activation of certain enzymes occur (McCance Huether, 2010).
Both epinephrine and cortisol also cause an increase in blood glucose by preventing
cells in the body from the uptake of glucose and decreasing the effects of insulin
(Judd, n.d.). Catecholamines and cortisol both cause an increase in cardiac output
and an increase in blood pressure as well (McCance Huether, 2010). Catecholamines
do this by enhancing myocardial contractility, increasing heart rate, and increasing the
blood (venous) returning to the heart (McCance Huether, 2010). Cortisol aids in this
effect by increasing the amount of receptors that epinephrine and norepinephrine can
attach to (Judd, n.d.). Cortisol and catecholamines both cause lipolysis is some areas
of the body. This occurs in the extremities with cortisol, but most areas of the body
with catecholamines (McCance Huether, 2010). Strangely enough, both

This plays with words as it says close up on lips and the image is of close up lips
with lipstick on.
In the L Oreal Paris advertisement the slogan is 10 lively colours to make your
look pulse as often as you want! This is different from their usual slogan because
you re worth it as they are just talking about the colour pulse hair die, so they
wanted a slogan to link in with the product. The slogan is effective because the
words lively and pulse make it sound alive and the words you and your make it
sound like they are talking to you in person. Also, at the end of the slogan is an
exclamation mark which makes it seem exciting.
The two advertisements both have copy but in the Clinique one it is much longer
because it is aimed at an older target audience who are more interested in the copy
content. The Advertisement aimed at the younger target audience has less copy,
containing just the most important facts, because the visual impact is more to this
age group.
The L Oreal Paris advertisement states that it washes out in 8 to 10 shampoos . This
is an example of weasel words because they are not giving an exact figure but a
range. This helps advertisers avoid making untrue statements about a product, words
like probably and almost which sound like they are not entirely certain.

Poverty In Detroit Research Paper
Poverty in Detroit Being home to Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler, Detroit was
the nation s auto industry capital in the 1950s ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). The
city was thriving, bringing in more income and more people each year, which led to
Detroit s expansion and population peak becoming the 4th largest cityin America. But
if the city was doing so well, then what caused such an economic downfall to put
them in the impoverished state they are facing today?
Most of Detroit s economic downfall was because of the reliance on a single industry,
which at the time was the auto industry ( Anatomy of Detroit s Decline ). Although
this industry was thriving in every way possible, the city became too reliant on it
because when the auto industry left Detroit, the economy made a dramatic decrease.

Because many people abandoned their homes, the city now has fewer tax payers,
and many vacant homes. This task to shrink the city would be easier if these
abandoned homes were next to each other in convenient chunks, but it appears that
Detroit is not so lucky, for the abandoned homes are spread out all across the city
making any efforts to shrink the city extremely difficult ( Anatomy of Detroit s
Decline ).
Another trial that the city faces is the development of the children (Bouffard, Karen).
More than 59% of the children in Detroit live below the poverty line (Bouffard,
Karen). However, there is good news in the midst of all this bad; Bill Ballmer,
owner of the L.A. clippers, grew up in Detroit and is now focusing on helping
Detroit s economy, specifically the children ( Letter: Ending Poverty in Detroit ). He
is doing so by opening an office in Detroit that focuses on fighting poverty and
enhancing the development of Detroit s youth ( Letter: Ending Poverty in
Reviewing The Supreme Court Of Canada Case
Analyzing the Supreme Court of Canada Case:
Carter v. Canada (Attorney General) the Death with Dignity Case
The appellants Lee Carter, Hollis Johnson and Gloria Taylor joined with other
appellants to bring the civil claim which is against the prohibition on assisted
suicide found in s. 14 and s. 241 (b) of the Criminal Code (Carter, para. 20). The
same issue which was brought in Rodriguez v. British Columbia 20 years ago was
declared to be constitutional. In this case, ultimately Lee Carter s appeals succeeded.
The Law Before the Ruling According to s. 14 and s. 214 (b) of the Canada
Criminal Code, the law criminalized the person who aids another person to commit
suicide and it banned the death inflicted on that person. In short, these provisions
did not allow a person to seek a physician assisted death, regardless of being suffered
intolerably from a serious or incurable disease (Carter, para.1).
Questions Before the Court
пЂWhether the Criminal Code provisions prohibiting physician assisted dying found
in s. 241 (b) violates the claimants rights to life, liberty and security (s.7) and rights
to equal treatment (s. 15) of the Charter (Carter, para.29, 40).
пЂWhether the prohibition is justified under s.1 of the Canadian Charter (Carter,
para.2).
пЂWhether the trial judge was bound by stare decisis in Rodriguez (Carter, para.28,

пЂWhether the prohibition accorded with the principle of fundamental justice
(Carter, para. 70).

The Learning Theories Of English Language Education
This qualitative study is designed to answer the following primary question: What are
the learning theories of English language education that are used in the Palestinian
Refugee Camps in Jordan and Israel? This question will branch into the following
three secondary questions:
1 What are the sociocultural and socio economic, gender, literacy, political conflict,
religion, race, political stability, religion, sexual identity aspects and their influence in
English language education in an extra ordinary and a challenging learning
environment?
2 What are the strategies used to deal with refugee students limited English language
literacy with relevance to previous leanings and prior experiences that influence their
current English language acquisition?
3 What is the contextual and relational nature of the students identity in the refugees
schools?
My interest in this study stems from my bilingual, political and social background.
My birth and rowing up in Jerusalem in the seventies of the last century made me
aware of certain historical wars that led the Palestinians to flee from their homeland in
Palestine in 1948 and 1967, Lebanon in 1970 and Syria in 2011 enhanced my

this topic is relevant to my ESL teaching background and being an instructor who
taught English as a second language in the Mediterranean and Arabian Gulf countries

Homelessness In America Essay
Every year hundreds of families, war veterans, and people with physical and
mental handicaps are left homeless and on the streets. Many of these peoples are
unable to work as a result of these disabilities and in today s economy unable to find
jobs if they do have the ability to work. The government s response to this issue is
through programs that help people find jobs or that establish affordable living
situations for people in those situations. In order to fix homelessness, the american
people must understand what is going on and how they can help, the government
must issue welfare reform, and there needs to be more improvement in the northern
part of the nation.
Homelessness in America can be dated back to the 1640s. In the 1640s homelessness

According to Shadee Ashtari, a reporter at the Huffington Post, one situation that
many people are unaware of is that there are more than 58,000 homeless college
students. These people are almost indistinguishable from other college students,
they sleep in cars, school libraries, or couch surf with friends. According to Ashtari,
these people are not only motivated more than others to succeed but they also
challenge the traditional idea of a homeless person. For most people, homeless
people are just lazy people that are waiting for a hand out when they could be
working. However, for these college students this is not the case they work just as
hard if not harder than their peers because they have a higher desire to succeed and
get out of the difficult situation they are going through. Another concept that the
American people need to understand is what exactly is a homeless person. The U.S.
department of Health and Services defines a homelessness as, A homeless person is

Breaking Bad And The Walking Dead
Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead are without a doubt two of the most popular
shows on Netflix. From cooking Methamphetamine to killing off zombies, both
shows provide viewers with amazing stories, and action packed episodes that will
have you leaning off the edge of your seat. While many fans simply see two different
worlds filled with zombies and drugdealers, there are actually small similarities that
make people question if the two shows actually coexist within the same fictional
world. Many of these similarities are hidden messages or items within the series that
the writers have incorporated for the enjoyment of the fans. Once brought to the
viewer s attention, they will find themselves pondering over these similarities,

To see him walking under these conditions is just way out of the ordinary, and is
something one would never see in Breaking Bad. Was Gustavo really a zombie?
Could a certain chemical in Walt s meth have caused this unusual behavior? There
really is no right answer, and many of these questions and theories are debatable.
However, there is no denying that this specific scene from Breaking Bad resembles
a person in a zombie like state, which happens to be the key theme of The Walking
Dead.
Another relationship that is seen portrays the idea that Merle Dixon s drug dealers
may have been Jesse Pinkman and Walter White, who are two major drug dealers
in Breaking Bad. In the first season of The Walking Dead, Merle s brother Daryl
finds a bag of prescriptions and drugs that belong to Merle. At the bottom of the bag,
there appears to be blue crystal meth. Recollecting from Breaking Bad, Walter White
is the creator of the famous Sky Blue methamphetamine that is unique with its baby
blue color. Additionally, later on in season 4 of The Walking Dead, Daryl has a
conversation with Beth about a past experience he had with his brother. He s telling
her about an encounter Merle had with his drug dealer. Merle got in an argument
with this guy and things started to get out of hand. Daryl describes the dealer as
being a janky little white guy, and a tweaker. He then tells her that this guy put a gun
to his
Weather In Romeo And Juliet
Weather plays an important role in emphasising the effect and mood of a scene in
any piece of literature. While watching a movie, weather can influence the scene in
any way the director intends. If it was a dark, stormy night while something
horrific was taking place during a scene in a movie. The audience is going to feel
more intrigued and involved in the scene based off of the surrounding weather. If a
horrific scene was happening and it had a bright sunny day without a single cloud in
the sky. The scene would not be as engaging because the scenery would provide a
different explanation for what was actually happening, which would contradict what
was actually happening in the scene. While the weather plays an important role in

The scene starts off with Benvolio and Mercutio on a beach with the sky clear and
the day hot, while that in mind you can perceive the mood of the story would be
peaceful like the day, but that perception would be wrong. For now, these hot days,
is the mad blood stirring. (III. i. 4). Along with the hot, sunny day, tension is
already being recorded and noted while the characters know that blood is going to
be spilled today. From that, the cold blood and hatred felt before Tybalt enters the
scene, is foreshadowing how the negativity is going to effect this perfectly hot and
sunny day. As soon as Tybalt walks upon the beach it starts to get windy causing
many bystanders to leave their place at the beach so it would just be the two,
Mercutio and Tybalt, fighting a gun war per say to show how one of them could
easily defeat the other. They talk bad to one another continuously until the
triumphed Romeo appears on the scene. While the weather stays the same,
Mercutio receives his temper and shows his irritation once Romeo starts trying to
show love rather than attempt to fight this evil Capulet. Once Mercutio has had
enough of Tybalt bashing on his best friend, he tries to fight Tybalt to restore
Romeo s dignity, but ends up dying for his best friend in this horrific gun battle. As
soon as Romeo realizes his friend just got shot, the day s sky turns to night and the
suspending storm suddenly approaches and Romeo is left in the cold night s rain
with his dead friend. Romeo realizes that he needs revenge for his best friend s
death, so he shoots Tybalt. Once Tybalt s lifeless body has hit the ground, a sudden
storm approaches. The storm was added in to intensify the scene in a way words
possibly could not. The movie producer of this film wanted to not only focus on the
scripting of the film, but rather what was

Essay On Independence Day. Celebration of the Independence Day in My School Essay Malaysia ...

  • 1. Essay On Independence Day Crafting an essay on the theme of "Independence Day" may present both a rewarding challenge and an opportunity for insightful exploration. The difficulty lies not in the scarcity of information but in the delicate balance required to capture the essence of the topic while maintaining a fresh perspective. One must navigate the vast sea of historical facts, cultural significance, and personal reflections, ensuring that the narrative weaves seamlessly between these elements. The challenge arises in presenting a unique viewpoint that transcends the clichГ©s commonly associated with Independence Day essays. It demands a thorough understanding of the historical context, an appreciation for the multifaceted impact of independence on a nation, and an ability to articulate these complexities cohesively. Striking the right balance between being informative and engaging is no small feat, as the temptation to delve into an excessively academic or overly sentimental tone can be hard to resist. Moreover, the task involves not only commemorating the historical events but also delving into the contemporary relevance of independence. Analyzing the evolving nature of freedom, its challenges, and the responsibility it places on individuals and societies adds an additional layer of complexity to the writing process. Ultimately, the difficulty lies in transcending the surface-level observations and crafting an essay that resonates with readers on a deeper level. Achieving this requires a blend of research, critical thinking, and creative expression. It demands the writer's ability to connect the dots between historical events, cultural nuances, and personal reflections to create a narrative that is both insightful and thought-provoking. In conclusion, while the task of writing an essay on Independence Day is undoubtedly challenging, it is also an opportunity for personal growth and exploration. Navigating the complexities of history, culture, and individual experiences requires a delicate touch, but the end result can be a piece that not only commemorates the past but also offers valuable insights for the present and future. The Siege Of Alesia, By Julius Caesar Essay The Siege of Alesia, also known by the name Battle of Alesia, led by Julius Caesar of the Roman Republic against Vercingetorix of the Gallic tribes, was a very influential battle apart of the Gallic Wars that took place in what is known today as Alise Sainte Reine in France. These wars started with the Conquest of Gaulin 52 B.C.E. by Julius Caesar, who began all of the fighting because of the threat that he had perceived from the Gallic threat to Italy, specifically Rome. He was appointed as the governor to the Cisalpine and Transalpine Gauls with absolute authority. Over time he slowly conquered the Gallic tribes known as the Helvetii, Belgae, and Nervii, which brought in a lot of money because of a larger amount to tax. With this success and huge gain in money also came enemies like Marcus Porcius Cato who began campaigns to overthrow Caesar. Caesar had run into trouble in his attempt to invade Britain, trouble being the Gauls led by Ambiorix, destroying Roman resources, about one fourth of the Roman army, and a fairly large amount of the food supply, causing the Romans to go into a defense mode. Because of this change into a defensive stance the Gallic tribes noticed that they could regain independence from Rome with war, declaring Vercingetorix, a prince from the Arverni tribe from modern day France, as one of the army commanders for the Gallic tribes who united to defeat Caesar. Vercingetorix beat Caesar at the Batlle of Gergovia with his guerilla warfare strategies,

The angles available of Glass check make it difficult to tell where exactly the initial contact of the puck is made. But, from what can be seen on the Madison Square Garden feeds, it appears as though Glass smashes into Namestnikov shoulder to shoulder. There s a chance for an interference play to earn a suspension, and there s a chance Glass becomes the fifth Rangers player this season suspended for interference. However, there are some disadvantages, too. Virtual endoscopy shows good detail, but it s not quite as good at showing fine surface detail as standard endoscopy such that it can t show color differences. • 28. The On Liberty By John Stuart Mills ON LIBERTY In John Stuart Mills profound work, On Liberty he preaches against the conformity of the nations and outwardly encourages and restlessly defends voice of the individual. The philosopher expresses the importance of individuality by warning against forces such as the government and other citizens silencing their opinion. Though Mill s gives due recognition to virtues such as free speech, liberty and individualism he also rightly places limitations on our freedoms to ensure our own freedoms do not infringe upon the ones of those around us. In essence, I believe that Mill s insightfully provides a logical answer to society on how to live and how to allow others to live; freely unless harm will ensue. By Mills statement that, [i]f all mankind minus one were of one opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind one can gain insights into his justification for this argument, the limitations that should rightly be placed on free speech, the assumptions that are the basis for this argument. Throughout Mills essay he argues against the oppressive tyranny of the government in silencing the opinions of others. He warns that, there needs to be protection also against the tyrant of the prevailing opinion of feeling; against the tendency of society to impose... its own ideas on those who dissent from them (Mills 9). Catecholamines (epinephrine and norepinephrine) and cortisol are hormones that are major players in the stress response (McCance Huether, 2010). Catecholamines share some common physiologic actions with cortisol. Catecholamines and its metabolic actions are similar to those of cortisol. Both catecholamines and cortisol cause an increase in blood glucose through increased gluconeogenesis (McCance Huether, 2010). Gluconeogenesis is the production of glucose when the activation of certain enzymes occur (McCance Huether, 2010). Both epinephrine and cortisol also cause an increase in blood glucose by preventing cells in the body from the uptake of glucose and decreasing the effects of insulin (Judd, n.d.). Catecholamines and cortisol both cause an increase in cardiac output and an increase in blood pressure as well (McCance Huether, 2010). Catecholamines do this by enhancing myocardial contractility, increasing heart rate, and increasing the blood (venous) returning to the heart (McCance Huether, 2010). Cortisol aids in this effect by increasing the amount of receptors that epinephrine and norepinephrine can attach to (Judd, n.d.). Cortisol and catecholamines both cause lipolysis is some areas of the body. This occurs in the extremities with cortisol, but most areas of the body with catecholamines (McCance Huether, 2010).
