Attitudes Towards Same Sex Couples
Introduction
The article I chose to write my assignment on is Attitudes to Practice: Adoption Obstacles. It was
written by Claire Kimberly and Alexa Moore and published in the Journal of Gay Lesbian Social
Services on November 16, 2015. The authors investigated how attitudes towards same sex couples
could influence their adoption process and how it is handled by adoption professionals and
surrounding policies/practices. They used data gathered by other research to help construct their
research method.
Literature Review The authors of the article used information from several other articles that
contained studies done that analyzed the procedures of adoption agencies working with same sex
couples. There are around 2 million potential parents in the gay and lesbian community that are
faced with obstacles during the adoption process because of their sexual orientation while the
government is passing legislative acts and allocating millions of dollars in the hope of finding
families that are interested in adopting and that qualify. Brooks and Goldberg conducted a study to
that further analyzed whether or not lesbians and gays are faced with hindrances that heterosexual
couples do not face during the adoption process. This study discovered that there are three factors
that make the process more difficult for same sex couples: myths about the parenting abilities of
gays and lesbians, general agency attitudes and informal practices that discourage gays and lesbians

Company is starting 2007 with unfinished goals and missed targets previously set and a review of
their strategy is in order to continue their ongoing success. The company has grown substantially
since its inception in the competitive restaurant industry; however, an aggressive target of 2,000
Panera Bread bakery cafes will require a focused strategic plan. The company has a strong base
with loyal customers who appreciate Panera s unique dining atmosphere with a focus on quality

It seems to be a popular trend for big developers to branch off and make small and unique indie
games. From Ubisoft s Child of Light to Insomniac s Song of the Deep these games are immersive,
breathtaking, intimate and, mostly, well received. Most recently is Ready at Dawn s foray into
indie development: Deformers.
Before we dive into things I do want to let you know that I was given a copy of this game by the
developers. However that was just because they re nice, so this is not an ad nor is it #sponsored.
And for those of you who do not know about Ready at Dawn Studios here is a brief summary.
The studio s first game was Daxter which was released on the Playstation Portable on March 2006.
They later went on to make God of War: Chains of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Which is, of course, the way a car moves in the real world. I understand that.) However, if the
ball was behind me and the camera is focused on the ball, trying to control the car while
maintaining focus on the game usually left me in unusual positions. (Although Twitch streamers
have proved to me that practice makes OP.) In Deformers the Form that you control has full
eight axis controls. So you can move in any which way your heart desires. You can strafe in front
of the goal to mimic a goalie or charge head first at the enemy like a Berserker from Gears of War
to knock the ball from their derpy grip. And if all else fails, you can shoot them. That s right. This
is street soccer and the only rule is that there is no rule. (Other than the fact that you have to score in
the enemy s net but...you knew that.)
After playing the game for a little over an hour I have to say that it is super fun. On my third
game of Form Ball I could already imagine myself losing hours to the game. Plus, having gotten a
hold of the game this early into it s life cycle (something that cannot be said for Rocket League
which I adopted to very late) I have plenty of time to carve out my spot in the Leaderboards. So
why haven t I spent said hours on it yet? Well that brings me to the biggest problem with
Deformers. The thing that holds the game back the most. It s...the game itself. After the
aforementioned third Form Ball game the players in my lobby left and I followed suite before
attempting to

Disadvantages Of Corpus Linguistics
Corpus linguistics
Corpus Linguistics (CL) is a method of operating linguistic analysis (McEnery Wilson, 2001, p1)
that facilitates empirical descriptions of language use (Biber, 2011, p15). This method is based
on analysis of Corpus ,which is a sample of different kinds of texts, such as newspaper texts, or
specifically editorials, video scripts, everyday conversation and many other types of written
language (Baker, 2012, p248). Corpus Linguistics tries to establish a balanced corpus _Latin form
of body_ of language in order to represent variety of language, so that no single type of writing
over represented. Corpus Linguistics has become popular since 1990. Hence, it is often describe
as being a relatively new approach that investigates language in use with the aim of computers.
Compared with the eras of the 60s and 70s, researchers nowadays have access to large and different
types of corpora, along with the presence of a set of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they continuously make decisions, choosing one particular way out of a potentially large, perhaps
infinite, set of choices. A corpus analysis will allow us to see which choices are privileged, giving
evidence for mainstream, popular or entrenched ways of thinking through repetition (ibid(. In point
of fact, repeated patterns expose that evaluative meanings are not simply personal, but extensively
shared in a discourse community. A word, expression or construction possibly will show a cultural
stereotype. A corpus analysis of thousands of newspaper articles is to detect such media repetitions,
occurring many times over, gradually influencing their

Love and Lust in Love s Labours Lost
Love is a familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but Love. (Love s Labours Lost. 1.2.) This
Shakespearean quote relies on the fact that love can lead to many misfortunes, presented as one
of the aspects of love in both William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream , and Wole
Soyinka s The Lion and the Jewel . One aspect of lovedemonstrates its brilliant sides, and with it,
brings affection, faith, and intimacy. However, it is also noted that an equal aspect of love conveys
the consequences and misfortunes, the negative connotations of love, which the essay will be
exploring, broken down into several characteristics: lust, manipulation, and hatred, which both plays
share in correspondence and in distinction. In A Midsummer... Show more content on

The most apparent is the approach of manipulation: Oberon uses the magic of the flower s juice,
while Baroka uses cunning and experience from his previous adventures to lure Sidi. Additionally,
they differ in another way as Oberon used manipulation as means of torture, while Baroka utilized
it for the seduction of Sidi. Nonetheless, both plays relate to manipulation as it is used for the
advantages of the schemer, but is unrelated as by the method of how it is used.
Finally, both plays are incomplete without another significance of love, and that is hatred, and
roots in both plays from the fact that there were two men competing for the love of a female, and
the opposing men share the hatred between each other. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, after
the love potion was mistakenly applied to an additional male, the two men, Lysander and
Demetrius both constantly bicker and fight for Helena: Where is Demetrius? Oh, how fit a word
/Is that vile name to perish on my sword! (Lysander, 2.2.112 113) In The Lion and the Jewel, the
village chief, Baroka, and the young schoolteacher, Lakunle, both share a similar struggle the war
for Sidi s love and Lakunle frequently insult(s) the Bale. (Willis) The distinctions, however, lay on
the end result and as to how the hatred was resolved. Firstly, in A Midsummer Night s Dream, the
hatred was garnered

Pitching Under Pressure
Perfect Pitching Under Pressure There are two outs in the bottom of the ninth of the World Series;
the team in the field is up by one and the best hitter is coming up the plate. The pitcher takes a deep
breath and realizes what had to be done. Three strikes and the game was over, but that seemed an
eternity away with the overwhelming pressure mounting. How could the pitchermove past the
pressure and get the last out? The answer would more than likely surprise most people. It is
common knowledge that the pitcher must physically be in the right positions to throw a strike, but
it is quite the opposite for the mental side of pitching. The mental aspect plays a much larger factor
than most people would presume and in reality, it is just as important... Show more content on

It is surprisingly common for a pitcher who is having problems outside the sport that would
affect their mental health to see a decrease in their in sport performance. In her article on
PsychologyToday.com, Laura Miele says in general Negative external or internal psychological
factors can lead to mental blocks, causing breaks in focus and preparation, poor performance
and, at times, injuries to the athlete. The most basic example of this would be some non sport
related activity or interaction that would distract the pitcher during play. As stated earlier in the
essay, focus on throwing strikes is of paramount importance in order to be successful and any
activity or interaction that would take that focus away would be a distraction that would affect
performance. In addition, an overall feeling of depression would greatly affect a pitchers well
being in and outside of the sport. As was also stated earlier, pitchers must have confidence in
themselves and their ability and depression is in one faced a lowered self confidence. Depression
and anxiety commonly go hand in hand and together or alone they can greatly influence sport
performance. One example of a baseball player who faced depression and saw a drastic change in
performance is Joey Votto, first basemen for the Cincinnati Reds. He said in an interview with
Bleacher Report during the 2009 season The stuff I was dealing with off the field finally seeped
its way into the game. After taking time off from the game and getting his personal life in order,
he came back to win the NL MVP, the most valuable player award, the next year. It is very
uncommon to think of the impact that psychological problems can have on finding success in
pressure situations, but the evidence shows that the connection is clear and players and coaches
should be more aware of

The Movie The Innocence Of Muslims
On September 11, 2012, there was an attack on the United States Embassy in Benghazi by Libyan
rebels in which four American were killed. This includes United States Ambassador Chris Stevens,
United States Diplomat Sean Smith, and two ex military members Tyrone Woods and Glen
Doherty, who were both Navy SEALs and had served in Iraq and Afghanistan. To prevent future
attacks on American Embassies and to prevent lives lost in those attacks, the United States
government needs to create a way to transport information more efficiently and to provide more
help in order to save American lives.
Who is to blame for the Benghazi incident? In the beginning, the United States government
blamed Nicoula Nicoula who the made the film The Innocence of Muslims. This film depicted
the Prophet Mohammed as a ladies man, a flirt, and even a thug. Even though this film was highly
offensive to the Muslim people. It was later revealed by the American government that this film
was not the true cause of the Benghazi attack. The real cause was that the Libyan people were
extremely upset that the government of the United States of America was trying to interfere with
their government and pushing to create peace in Libya. The people of Libya were especially upset
that foreign countries, especially the United States of America were remaining in Libya after they
were asked to leave. Due to security issues, all other foreign countries except for the United States
pulled out of Libya. The United States

Tweetsie Case Study
On the rainy Wednesday I learned that when there is bad weather the park has three options for
running operations. Option #1 is that Tweetsie is run as normal and the show goes on as usual.
Option #2 is running at half capacity, which means that only Main Street and the train will
operate. All of the rides stop running and none of the shows take place during operating hours.
Finally, Tweetsie has the option of just running train rides and closing all other aspects of the
park. If this happens we let people in for free because all they would be able to do is ride the
train. In the recent history of Tweetsie they ve only closed twice and run a half day once, so it s
common to keep the park open despite nasty weather. I also learned not to get my hopes up that I

each group has enough of what they ordered and get that completed before they arrive. My boss

The Importance Of The Fair Trade Movement
The movement I chose to research was the Fair Trade Movement. The main goal of the Fair
Trade Movement is to provide support to allow workers and farmers in local communities to not
get overshadowed or taken advantage of by large corporations and be provided with sustainable
and reasonable working conditions. Fairtrade is important as it is used to help improve the lives
and communities of producers that are small scale. Furthermore, Fairtrade is more than just trading
goods It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows
how a successful business can also put people first. It is a tangible contribution to the fight against
poverty, climate change and economic crisis (World Fair TradeOrganization).
The key values of the Fairtrade movement include five values that the Fair Trade Movement are
committed to which are: People First, Excellence, Integrity, Respect, and Passion (Fair Trade
Canada). In terms of people, the Fairtrade movement focuses their goal around promoting and
improving the wellbeing of people such as farmers, workers and other members of small scale,
or local businesses. Secondly, for integrity they try to be as honest, ethical and transparent as
possible as they are accountable to their stakeholders (Fair Trade Canada). Third, respect is a key
value to the Fairtrade movement as they want to collaborate and work with diverse groups who
share similar values as the movement. Finally, passion is their last key value

Mind and Soul
In the reading by Richard Swinburne, he evaluates the mortality of the soul and its interaction with
the human body. His position is best described as attributing the soul to a light bulb, and the brain
to a functioning socket:
If the socket (brain) is damaged or the current turned off, the light (soul) will not shine. So, too, the
soul will function if it is plugged into a functioning brain. Destroy the brain [...] and the soul will
cease to function, remaining inert.
Given his position, Swinburne s idea on the role of the mind and the soul, as well as the mortality
of the soul are what I will be exploring. For Swinburne, the soul is essentially what our mind is. It
is the part of us that analyzes information, thinks on it, and ... Show more content on

Now there is the mortality of the soul, given that Swinburne s definition of the soul is similar to
my definition of the mind I will focus on that. I believe the human mind passes form body to soul
upon death. But what happens after that I do not know. I feel that our minds on this new plane of
existence cannot be understood as they are on this plane. Therefore I cannot comment on the
possibility that they are mortal or immortal. There might be some inherent change in how our
minds work once this transition takes place that may alter its functionality so much that it is
nothing like it used to be, and thereby the original mind may be considered deceased. Or it may
be that we go on transitioning from state to state forever.Relating the mind to Swinburne s views,
he discusses the soul in terms of the laws of nature. In my opinion, I do not believe the above
mentioned relationship follows the rules of nature as we understand them. We cannot say with
certainty what the rules of nature are when discussing the soul, simply because the concept of it is
such a complex one. Our minds are such complex things that we do not fully understand. Overall I
tend to disagree with Swinburne on his ideas of the mortality of the soul and the relationship of the
soul and body. In my belief, that we cannot definitively say the mind is mortal or immortal because
it exists differently than the rest of our body. We can examine our hand, cut

Research Paper On Giant Panda
The Giant Panda (Ailuropoda Melanoleuca) lives in the bamboo forests
of southwestern China. This type of panda is endangered and to this day
there are only around a thousand pandas left (http//:panda.org, 1).
Adult giant pandas have a length of 160 to 180
centimeters (5/14 to 6 feet). The weight of an adult
male giant panda is normally between 80 and 125
kilograms (176 and 276 pounds) with males
typically weighing about 10% to 20% more than
females about the same size as the American black
bear. However, unlike the black bear, giant pandas
do not hibernate and cannot walk on their hind
legs (Etling 1).

Although the giant panda has the digestive system of a carnivore,
however, over time the giant panda adapted to a vegetarian diet such as
bamboo (http://panda.org, 1). the panda is often thought to eat only
bamboo; there are other foods that a panda will eat.
While bamboo stalks and roots make up 95% of
its diet, the giant panda also feeds on gentians,
irises, crocuses, fish, pikas, vines, mushrooms, rice
grass and occasionally small rodents. The giant
panda will eat meat although rarely. The giant
panda must eat 20 to 40 pounds of food each day to
survive, and spends 10 to 16 hours a day feeding
(Etling 6).
At one point in time, giant pandas flourished in eastern China and
several neighboring countries.
The giant panda is believed to have made its first
appearance during the late Pilocene or early
Pleistocene, perhaps no more than two to three
million years ago. Panda fossils have been found in
present day Burma, Vietnam, and particularly early
in eastern China, as far north as Bejing (Etling 2).
Today pandas are mostly in dense bamboo and mountains of
central/eastern China.
Pandas occupy 6 small forest fragments in small

Thrasymachus Vs Plato
Friedrich Nietzsche and Thrasymachus both depict their account of justice and morality. On the
Genealogy of morals and The Republic of Plato share similarities but express different views on the

Thrasymachus expresses that justice and moralityare naturally beneficial to the ruling class. In a

justice is nothing other than the advantage of the stronger. (Republic I, 338b). The stronger

set forward by Thrasymachus supports the view that the views of true morality are devised as a
reflection of particular political communities. Thrasymachus believes that the definitions of
good morality and bad morality set forward by the ruling class are not necessarily correct. In
addition, Thrasymachus argues that this is disadvantageous to everyone else and only
beneficial to those in power, each ruling group sets down laws for its own advantage (Republic I,

negatively affects people in power and benefits the oneself. In a similar manner, Nietzsche states
that the genesis of justice and morality is created by the people in power, and the weaker are
forced to accept it. The people in power refer to the ruling class and the weaker refer to the slave

Examples Of Tension In 12 Angry Men
The small setting of the room, few props and the heat, along with camera levels, builds tension and
releases it throughout 12 Angry Men. Towards the beginning tension is put in to play as the setting
of film is in a small, un airconditioned room on a hot summer day. Throughout the film the jurors
comment on the weather which effects certain juror s moods. Juror number 7 says This is the
hottest day of the year. You d think they d at least air condition the place. The heat irritates and
agitates most of the jurors, resulting in clashes of moods, further adding to the tension. Throughout
the film the camera level goes from above eye level to eye level, increasing the tension by
showcasing more reactions and emotions during intense scenes.
The mise en scГЁne when we first see the jury room creates a perfect setting for tension to build.
In the room, we see very few props, which helps make the room seem small. The room has a table
with 12 chairs, ashtrays on the table, a fan on the wall, 2 overhead key lights, a few books, papers
and another small table. The jurors also can t leave until they either all decide to send an 18 year
old to the electric chair, or free. The men are all wearing jackets, even though the weather is hot
and the heat makes them sweaty and agitated. Many of the men are smoking, which might show
they are agitated or anxious. Early on in this room, tension starts to rise as juror number eight is the
only one who votes not guilty. This all happens in the

Social Norms In A Doll House
When we think of the word dollhouse we think of synonyms like innocence and playful. In
Melanie Martinez s music video she captures the opposite; in Dollhouse Martinez s demonstrates
the corruption social norms and gender roles can have on a family. Martinez shows us that
anyone can be affected by it, we just have to spot the signs before it gets out of hand. The first
thing you notice in the music video is a dollhouse. The dollhouse is a two story furnished home
with rooms to accommodate all the family members which consist of a father, mother, son and
daughter. Already we can tell that the family belongs in a high social class because of the look
of the house but to reassure the audience the director introduces the family wearing high class
attire. The father wears a tailored black suit with glasses and a tie, the mother is in a light pink
suit with heels and a red derby hat on, the son wears a button down white dress shirt with
suspenders and black slacks while the girl wears a baby pink dress and a bow. Not only does the
choice of clothing reveal the social status of the family it reveals the genderroles each member
plays. The women are expected to wear the pink attire while the men are expected to wear the
business work attire. It is a social norm for them, which can also tie into the family role each...

Global Financial Crisis By The Wall Street Crisis

As demand for the CDOs started growing across the global investment community, the investment
bankers (like Lehman) who were meant to sell these instruments also started investing a significant
portion of their own capital in these.
As Wall Street firms like Lehman were churning more and more home loans into CDOs and
selling them or investing their own money, there was a pressure on the banks to issue more loans
so that they can be sold to the Wall Street firms in return for a commission. Slowly banks started
lowering the credit quality for availing a home loan and aggressively used agents to source new
loans. This slippery slope went to such an extent that in 2005, almost anyone in the U.S could buy a
home worth $100,000 (45 lakhs INR) or more without income proof, without other assets, without
credit history, sometimes even without a proper job.
The U.S. housing market went into a classic speculative bubble. Home loans were easy to get, so
more and more people were buying houses. The increased demand for houses caused the price to
increase. The rising prices created even more demand, as people started to look at homes as
investments investments that never went down in value.

Performing Global Geographies Reading Response
Performing Global Geographies: Reading response
Through an analysis of the narratives of round the world travelers, the authors explore how
travelers weave together time, space, place and pace in a global journey around the world. Using
examples from the article explain how the itinerary plays a role in helping the travelers negotiate
the tension between time, space, and pace while at the same time reflecting certain cultural and
social assumptions about place.
The itinerary gives structure to the assumptions, anxieties and desires that travellers bring to a
round the world trip. Through the itinerary, travellers co ordinate the destinations they want to visit
alongside dozens of contingencies that factor into a round the world trip purchasing tickets,
applying for visas, allocating budgets, scheduling vaccinations, deciding what to pack and so on.
Itineraries emerge out of travellers negotiation of an assumed tension between space and time in
their performance of a global journey. In particular, these travellers worry about allocating their
limited time to enough destinations and to the right kinds of destinations to qualify as a round the
world trip.

Personality Development By Mary D. Salter Ainsworth And...
Main Idea Attachment, as defined by Infants, Children, and Adolescents is the strong emotional
connection that develops between an infant and caregiver, which provides the infant with a sense
of joy, comfort, and emotional security (Berk, 2012, p. 264). Between 6 to 12 months of age,
infants typically have developed said strong emotional connection to familiar people who have
responded to their need for comfort, care, and other needs. While many individuals might suggest
that a baby s emotional connection to the mother serves as the basis upon which all future
relationships are built, how this strong emotional connection develops has been a source of debate
for decades. Theories that attempt to explain the emotional bond between an... Show more content

Ethology, an approach that has become widely accepted in recent years, is focused upon the
adaptive, or survival, value of behavior and its evolutionary history (Berk, 2012, p. 264).
According to Infants, Children, and Adolescents, the ethological theory provides that babies are
biologically prepared to contribute actively to establish a bond with their caregivers, which
promotes the chances for their individual genes to survive. Since ethologists believe that behavior
can be best understood in terms of one s adaptive value, a full understanding of the entire organism
environment system, including physical, social, and cultural aspects is sought (Berk, 2012, p.
264). John Bowlby, who first applied this approach to the infant caregiver bond, maintained that
the quality of future relationships is directly related to the quality of an infant s attachment to the
caregiver (Berk, 2012, p. 265). Evaluation of Evidence Inspired by Konrad Lorenz s (1952) study

Essay On The Persuader
Imagine being stuck in a house, that felt more like a prison. Working for a dangerous man,
where making one wrong move will get you killed. This quarter, I have been reading The
Persuader by Lee Child. The main character, Jack Reacher, is an ex military cop, now a
wandering lone wolf searching for justice. Two DEA agents approach him with a situation: they
had an agent on a case who is now missing, but they can t open a case with the FBI because of
legal issues. They know that Reacher is adroit in combat and undercover operations, and he accepts
their request. Jack Reachernot only wants to help them but wants to find out why an old enemy
that should be dead, may be involved with the case. While reading Lee Childs The Persuader, I have

Evaluating this style made me realize that his unique writing style made Reacher seem even
more like a real person. Right off the bat, I observed short, quick sentences showing Jack s
thoughts. Since he used to be in the military, he absorbs every little detail around him, predicting
all of the possible outcomes. An example can be shown in this quote: Duke went back to his car.
It bounced off the shoulder and straightened up. I followed him through the two miles. We killed
our lights a hundred yards short of the driveway and made the turn. Took it slow. There was some
moonlight. His fast and almost incomplete thoughts make him seem ready to react at any moment.
While making Reacher s character consistent, Lee Child also demonstrates thorough knowledge
about military technology topics. At one point in the book, Reacher uses an old school code to
communicate a secret message to someone. Also, with each weapon that comes up in the book,
Jack Reacher seems to have a deep understanding of all of them. This adds to making him seem
even more like a real character because of his military background, so he would obviously have to
know a lot about guns and other

ALS And CTE Research
The number of athletes being diagnosed with neurodegenerative diseases is increasing over time.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) are both
known for targeting athletes at a much younger age than the average person. ALS and CTE are
similar due to the fact that they are a progressive degenerative disease. Both diseases are linked
with head trauma and the loss of movement within the human body. ALS is also known as Lou
Gehrigs disease; he brought national attention to the disease when he was diagnosed in 1939.
Adrian Robinson Jr. was a former NFL player that was diagnosed with CTE after his death. Recent

Dialectical Tension Examples
In Relationships that we deal with everyday there are dialectical tensions and issues that arise.
These tensions can greatly effect a relationship whether it be with a romantic partner, friend or
family. In this paper, I will define, discuss and give examples of three dialectical Tensions; describe
how they have impacted relationships in my life and how I ve managed these tensions with
managementstrategies. The three Tension I will discuss are autonomy vs. connectedness , novelty
vs. predictability , and openness vs. closedness . The four managing strategies for these dialectical
tensions are: selection, separation, neutralization, and reframing. The personal relationship in
which I will use personal examples in this paper will be my best friend and I and the tensions that

A way in which this is easily recognizable which way your relationship is between autonomy and
connectedness, Is whether the other person is saying I or is saying we . This tension happens
often in romantic relationships when one person wants to be with the other all the time, while the
other feels suffocated and has a need for individuality. Thus, too much integration comes with the
loss of autonomy and individuality, whereas extreme separation limits connection and can
threaten the relationship. (Sahlstein, E., Dun, T. 2008, p.37). Therefore either Autonomy or
connectedness in a relationship, too much of one or the either can issues emerge. A personal
example of an experience that I ve had is with my best friend and I. When we were in high
school we both graduated early in December, I went to a community college to get some credits
before transferring to a four year college, whereas he just took a break from everything. Every day
when I got off of school we would hang out and do stuff.

The Australian Emissions Trading Scheme
Abstract
The Australian emissions trading scheme (ETS) has been the hope of climate policy makers and
environmental scientists alike to reduce the national carbon footprint. Replacing the implemented
carbon tax law, the Australian ETS is a political issue due to the economic and social problems it
entails. With the carbon tax being repealed recently by the current government, the comparison to
the unpopular European Union ETS further emphasizes on its setbacks that it poses (Wood, 2010;
Adams, 2014; Watkins, 2014). Hence a move to the ETS will be unlikely in the future.
Introduction: The Australian Carbon Footprint

to its heavy reliance on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Carbon Tax Law and Emissions TradingScheme
Up to 2013, successive Australian governments have lobbied for an emissions trading scheme
(ETS) to curb national emissions. One such legislative measure is the carbon tax law passed in
Parliament in July 2012 through Acts such as the Clean Energy Act. Using a fixed taxation price of
$A23 per tonne which will increase by 2.5% per annum, the carbon tax law applies to the company
operations and facilities of Australia s top 500 polluters which exceed the annual direct emissions
limit (Foran, 2011; Guglyuvatyy, 2012). These high polluting industries range from electrical power
plants to the mining sector. The carbon tax law will subsequently transit into a cap and trade ETS
managed by the Climate Change Authority in 2015. Also known as the Carbon Pricing Mechanism,
this statutory institution will supervise carbon prices on an auction market, making the prices of
greenhouse gases flexible (Guglyuvatyy, 2012; Adams, 2014). The aim of the ETS is to create
economic incentives to entice industries to take environmentally friendly measures without
negatively affecting the national job market and economic growth (AuGov, 2012; Adams, 2014). At
that point, the Australian government also projected future aims of linking the national ETS with
that of the European Union (AuGov, 2012; Watkins, 2014).

Qualitative Research in Nursing
Qualitative Research
Introduction
Some of the integral components of nursing practice are commitment and patience, understanding
and trust, flexibility and openness. These, according to qualitative researchers, can be applied to
qualitative approaches. Many qualitative studies have in the recent past found their way into
medical and nursing press. This has helped in improving knowledge base on qualitative nursing
researches (Brookes, 2007). This term paper seeks to establish ways in which findings of qualitative
nursing research study influence the way care is provided in different work settings. The paper also
undertakes to highlight the reasons behind researchers resolve to conduct qualitative rather than
quantitative nursing research study.
Ways in which the findings of a qualitative nursing research study can be used to influence the way
care is provided in a given work setting Qualitative nursing research findings are very important in
decision making process in a working set up and at the national level. Qualitative researches ability
to analyze information conveyed through language and behavior in natural setting makes it ideal
for capturing expressive information pertaining to beliefs, values, feelings and motivation. In the
process one finds himself in a position to learn directly from the patients about what they consider
important. This is very crucial in identifying variables that are important for future clinical studies
(Berkwits Inui, 1998).

Bill Fontan An Internationally Reputable Composer And...
Bill Fontana is an internationally reputable composer and pioneering American sound sculptor born
April 25th 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. Since the mid to late 70 s Fontana has used sound as a
sculptural medium, able to interact and transform our perceptions of visual and architectural spaces.
Fontana is constantly engaged with the idea that at any moment there will be something musical to
hear in the coherent soundpatterns around him. His sound sculptures use the human or natural
environment surrounding as a living source of musical information, often creating multiple
networks of live listening points that relay real time acoustics to a common listening place or
sculptural site. All of Fontana s works produced over the years experiment with process of listening,
recording, relocating and representing found sound patterns. Through discussion of his works and
the process undertaken in his listening for different found sound, the technologies used in recording
and relaying of these sounds to site, and the sites themselves through his works can be seen to
complicate the idea of medium within his practice.
Links from Fontana s background can be seen to have influence upon the development of his
practice. Fontana started his musical career in the 60 s as a composition student, attending the New
School for Social Research in New York, studying both music and philosophy. It was here that
Fontana became a student of John Cage s Experimental Composition course at the school. By

Reginald Rose s Justice System
In Twelve Angry Men Reginald Rose shows how flawed the justice system could really be. He
portrays this concept in this story by having 12 jurors try to figure out if a nineteen year old boy
that grew up in the slums is guilty or not. The jurors automatically assumed that he is guilty only
because of the fact that he was always getting into trouble when he was younger. Even after they
heard all the unclear evidence that was given, 11 out of the 12 said that he was still guilty. If it
wasn t for the 1 juror that spoke up about how the evidence wasn t clear, the boy would ve been
declared guilty. There has been many cases up to this date that show this type of prejudice. Many

Global Warming Blown Out of Proportion Essay
Global Warming Blown Out of Proportion
The United States by no means should consider complying with the Kyoto Protocols. My
conviction in the negation towards passing this bill is that the whole Global Warming idea is
highly blown out of proportion by politicians and the mass media. Global warming, as it may exist
in the most gentle form, is the result of natural changes and could yield positive benefits. It is a
predictable, quantifiable process. Thus the Kyoto plan is flawed in many ways.

The seriousness of the hidden agenda of environmentalists must be considered in the prevention of
the Kyoto intervening in our sovereignty. The Protocol it seems is not about global warming at
all. It s about advancing a political scheme of global government and punishing the US for its
economic success. If we sign the Protocol the Kyoto inspectors, will be crawling all over America

Pricing The Bond Option Of Vasicek And Cir Models
Pricing the Bond option in Vasicek and CIR models
Name: Huajun Liu
Professor: Marco Pereira
Course: Math 624
Date: 2016/12/18
1.Abstract
This report is aimed to describe how we will use Python to build an application to price risky
bond and the European options of the bond in stochastic hazard rate and interest rate models. We
are going to simulate the path of interest rate using CIR model and simulate the path of hazard
rate using Vasicek model. Then we will get the survival function from simulated hazard rate and
get the bond price from it. Lastly we will price the European options of the risky bond based on
the simulated bond price by using both closed form formula (Jamshidian, F. (1989)) and Monte
Carlo simulation.
2.Introduction
Today, an increasing number of risky bond options have been introduced to customers, but only a
few customers can understand how to price a risky bond option. The credit derivative is a new type
of financial derivative which is based on the credit condition of the loan developed in the 1990s,
and its function is to separate the credit risk from other risks of the primary assets and transfer it to
the counterparty. Also, credit derivatives can make credit risk appear in a more fluid and tradable
form, which has a great application in improving the portfolio of returns and presenting a highly
structured risk portfolio. Meanwhile, credit derivatives can be used in the investment market Avoid
risks, and thus mobilize the credit market activity.

Prior to the August 2, 1990 invasion of Kuwait on the part of Iraq, the

retrospect, which is inherently advantageous as a 20/20 perspective, questions remain unanswered
as to whether or not the United States was too appeasing to Saddam Hussein in the years, months,

My approach is to develop the best crisis approach through communication. Crisis communication
usually has a variety of goals some of which conflict but the most important and universal it to
reduce, and contain harm. My next step is calling all organization so they can identify the hazard
they face, my first phone call would be the (MDCH) Michigan health community department, and
then hopefully they will contact the (American Biological Safety Association). When a crisis
began to brew as a communicator and a leader I wonder when to ask for help from the outside for
instance public relations agency which might be beneficial to keep the problem from completely

need them in emergency like this. Potential advantages and challenges associated with

These suppliers have slightly more bargaining power because of the differentiation between their
work. However the need for these suppliers can be eliminated if furniture manufacturers produce
every piece of their products themselves. A furniture manufacturer will only outsource production
of parts if it proves to be cost effective for their company. Since the price of materials is consistent
market and the outsourcing of production is unnecessary, suppliers have low bargaining power in
the furniture manufacturing industry.
Power of Substitutes VERY LOW
As previously stated the buyers in the furniture manufacturing industry are furniture retailers.
Therefore they will require furniture to continue business. There are no substitutes that provide the
same use as furniture. In relation to the furniture industry as a whole, there are still very little
substitutes to furniture aside from a higher use of closet space or unorthodox measures by
consumers. An example of this would be one s choice to live without furniture, which in most cases
is very unlikely. Furniture has become a household necessity and consumers have little or no desire
to change their lifestyles by eliminating that need. Therefore the threat of substitutes to the furniture
manufacturing industry is very low to the point where it is almost non existent.

required, all plans need to be cancelled for them to be at their job. These long hours mean there isn
t much time to spend with family. Surgeons tend to spend more time at work with their team than at
home with their family. Leisure time for surgeons can be considered non existent in many cases.
The process of becoming a surgeonis rigorous and stressful. It takes at least 12 years after Year 12
of studying and training to earn the title of a fully qualified surgeon.... Show more content on

Self evaluation:
This career investigation has revealed to me that becoming a surgeon isn t all rainbows and
daisies; it isn t what I watch on Grey s Anatomy. From what I ve gathered, surgeons enjoy most of
their life within a clinic or hospital saving and helping patients. Wording it this way makes the job
seem extremely boring. But I can t word it any other way; it is the truth. I have always been a
people s person and it has always been a passion of mine to be able to help someone out. Taking
the lifeguard course has fuelled my desire to give to the society. Wherever the location, I would
try to help someone the best I can. I believe surgeons have one intention: to help a patient as best
they can. Communication has never been an issue for me as I tend to listen intently and try to
speak to someone in the clearest way possible. Problem solving and learning has always been a
strength and something I have grown up enjoying. My life, like many others, has been through a
lot of ups and downs. Family issues and emergencies do have a certain effect on me but over the
years, I ve learnt to deal with the burden and the stress. These common traits demonstrates that I
may have the capability of tackling the job as a

The Gilded Age During The Gilded Age
When Mark Twain coined the term Gilded Age for the years 165 1900 he was doing more than
giving a sarcastic name to this time period. Twain ingeniously combined both the era s widespread
corruption with its tremendous growth. It was a time of political upheaval, western expansion,
transitioning roles of women, increased education, new forms of media, and urbanization, although
while all of those factors were significant parts of the the time, one industry and technology saw a
startling and almost unbelievable shift to its industry. During the Gilded Agethe United Stateswent
through one of its biggest, most influential periods of growth and discovery in its history, although
along with the tremendous expansion came huge companies arose unmatched in their size and
corruption.
Following the tumultuous Civil War the atmosphere was ribe in America for unbelievable
expansion and growth. The war had practically devastated the agricultural based South, with the
South s finances being reduced to almost nothing. Confederate bonds had become worthless and
because of this the South couldn t industrialize and nearly the same pace as the North. All these
factors, coupled with slaves recently being freed from bondage led to a immigration into the North
s urban economy. Further there was huge immigration from abroad at this time to America major
cities like Chicago and New York from all over Eurasia including China, Russia, and Italy. With
them came an important supply of cheap

Conflicts of the Families in the 21st Century Confetti Girl, by Diana LГіpez, and Tortilla Sun, by
Jennifer Cervantes are using different points of view to create tension in their stories. First, the
author made the girls feel depressed of how their parents won t understand their feelings.
Furthermore, the parents are careless of what the girls do and want them to do things as they tell
them to. Lastly, the girls opinions are being respected by their parents. Thus, the authors are
effectively using different points of view in the story, enabling them to create tension by having the
parents who do not understand their children s feelings, not interested in what they do and wants

Essay On Native American Indian Boarding School
Starting off as a plan to assimilate and educate Native American Children, the boarding school
program resulted in the stripping of culture and native identity. The cultural deprivation process
began in 1860 when the Bureau of Indian Affairs established the first on reservation Indian
boarding school in Washington state. The main goal of both the boarding and day schools was to
assimilate Indian children into the American way of life (American Indian Council).
At the start, the schools were all on reservation, designed to make education affordable and
accessible to as many tribes as possible. This method held hopes of the children spreading
American culture to parents; however, it allowed for Indian culture to seep into the children s lives.

Attending school was required by law; therefore, the Bureau would send police to physically
confiscate children from their homes on reservations. By making attendance mandatory, the
number of savage Indians exponentially decreased. Richard H Pratt said, Kill the Indian, save
the man. This motto led to the hair of Indian boys getting cut, the banning of all tribal food,
children were no allowed to return home and any relics from home were destroyed. Lone Wolf
of the Blackfoot tribe said, Long hair was the pride of all Indians. The boys, one by one, would
break down and cry when they saw their braids thrown on the floor. All of the buckskin clothes
had to go and we had to put on the clothes of the White Man. If we thought the days were bad, the
nights were much worse. This is when the loneliness set in, for it was when we knew that we were
all alone. Many boys ran away from the school because the treatment was so bad, but most of them
were caught and brought back by the police (PBS Telecommunications). If any of the students were
non compliant with the policies, punishment consisted confinement, deprivation of privileges, a
threat of corporal punishment or a restriction of diet (PBS

  • 2. Attitudes Towards Same Sex Couples Introduction The article I chose to write my assignment on is Attitudes to Practice: Adoption Obstacles. It was written by Claire Kimberly and Alexa Moore and published in the Journal of Gay Lesbian Social Services on November 16, 2015. The authors investigated how attitudes towards same sex couples could influence their adoption process and how it is handled by adoption professionals and surrounding policies/practices. They used data gathered by other research to help construct their research method. Literature Review The authors of the article used information from several other articles that contained studies done that analyzed the procedures of adoption agencies working with same sex couples. There are around 2 million potential parents in the gay and lesbian community that are faced with obstacles during the adoption process because of their sexual orientation while the government is passing legislative acts and allocating millions of dollars in the hope of finding families that are interested in adopting and that qualify. Brooks and Goldberg conducted a study to that further analyzed whether or not lesbians and gays are faced with hindrances that heterosexual couples do not face during the adoption process. This study discovered that there are three factors that make the process more difficult for same sex couples: myths about the parenting abilities of gays and lesbians, general agency attitudes and informal practices that discourage gays and lesbians from ... The company has grown substantially since its inception in the competitive restaurant industry; however, an aggressive target of 2,000 Panera Bread bakery cafes will require a focused strategic plan. • 4. Opp Research Papers It seems to be a popular trend for big developers to branch off and make small and unique indie games. From Ubisoft s Child of Light to Insomniac s Song of the Deep these games are immersive, breathtaking, intimate and, mostly, well received. Most recently is Ready at Dawn s foray into indie development: Deformers. Before we dive into things I do want to let you know that I was given a copy of this game by the developers. However, if the ball was behind me and the camera is focused on the ball, trying to control the car while maintaining focus on the game usually left me in unusual positions. (Although Twitch streamers have proved to me that practice makes OP.) In Deformers the Form that you control has full eight axis controls. So you can move in any which way your heart desires. You can strafe in front of the goal to mimic a goalie or charge head first at the enemy like a Berserker from Gears of War to knock the ball from their derpy grip. And if all else fails, you can shoot them. That s right. This is street soccer and the only rule is that there is no rule. (Other than the fact that you have to score in the enemy s net but...you knew that.) After playing the game for a little over an hour I have to say that it is super fun. On my third game of Form Ball I could already imagine myself losing hours to the game. Plus, having gotten a hold of the game this early into it s life cycle (something that cannot be said for Rocket League which I adopted to very late) I have plenty of time to carve out my spot in the Leaderboards. So why haven t I spent said hours on it yet? Well that brings me to the biggest problem with Deformers. The thing that holds the game back the most. It s...the game itself. • 5. Disadvantages Of Corpus Linguistics Corpus linguistics Corpus Linguistics (CL) is a method of operating linguistic analysis (McEnery Wilson, 2001, p1) that facilitates empirical descriptions of language use (Biber, 2011, p15). This method is based on analysis of Corpus ,which is a sample of different kinds of texts, such as newspaper texts, or specifically editorials, video scripts, everyday conversation and many other types of written language (Baker, 2012, p248). Corpus Linguistics tries to establish a balanced corpus _Latin form of body_ of language in order to represent variety of language, so that no single type of writing over represented. Corpus Linguistics has become popular since 1990. Hence, it is often describe as being a relatively new approach that investigates language in use with the aim of computers. In point of fact, repeated patterns expose that evaluative meanings are not simply personal, but extensively shared in a discourse community. • 6. Love and Lust in Love s Labours Lost Love is a familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but Love. (Love s Labours Lost. 1.2.) This Shakespearean quote relies on the fact that love can lead to many misfortunes, presented as one of the aspects of love in both William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream , and Wole Soyinka s The Lion and the Jewel . One aspect of lovedemonstrates its brilliant sides, and with it, brings affection, faith, and intimacy. However, it is also noted that an equal aspect of love conveys the consequences and misfortunes, the negative connotations of love, which the essay will be exploring, broken down into several characteristics: lust, manipulation, and hatred, which both plays share in correspondence and in distinction. In A Midsummer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most apparent is the approach of manipulation: Oberon uses the magic of the flower s juice, while Baroka uses cunning and experience from his previous adventures to lure Sidi. Additionally, they differ in another way as Oberon used manipulation as means of torture, while Baroka utilized it for the seduction of Sidi. Nonetheless, both plays relate to manipulation as it is used for the advantages of the schemer, but is unrelated as by the method of how it is used. Finally, both plays are incomplete without another significance of love, and that is hatred, and roots in both plays from the fact that there were two men competing for the love of a female, and the opposing men share the hatred between each other. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, after the love potion was mistakenly applied to an additional male, the two men, Lysander and Demetrius both constantly bicker and fight for Helena: Where is Demetrius? Oh, how fit a word /Is that vile name to perish on my sword! (Lysander, 2.2.112 113) In The Lion and the Jewel, the village chief, Baroka, and the young schoolteacher, Lakunle, both share a similar struggle the war for Sidi s love and Lakunle frequently insult(s) the Bale. • 7. Pitching Under Pressure Perfect Pitching Under Pressure There are two outs in the bottom of the ninth of the World Series; the team in the field is up by one and the best hitter is coming up the plate. The pitcher takes a deep breath and realizes what had to be done. Three strikes and the game was over, but that seemed an eternity away with the overwhelming pressure mounting. How could the pitchermove past the pressure and get the last out? The answer would more than likely surprise most people. It is common knowledge that the pitcher must physically be in the right positions to throw a strike, but it is quite the opposite for the mental side of pitching. The mental aspect plays a much larger factor than most people would presume and in reality, it is just as important... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is surprisingly common for a pitcher who is having problems outside the sport that would affect their mental health to see a decrease in their in sport performance. In her article on PsychologyToday.com, Laura Miele says in general Negative external or internal psychological factors can lead to mental blocks, causing breaks in focus and preparation, poor performance and, at times, injuries to the athlete. The most basic example of this would be some non sport related activity or interaction that would distract the pitcher during play. As stated earlier in the essay, focus on throwing strikes is of paramount importance in order to be successful and any activity or interaction that would take that focus away would be a distraction that would affect performance. In addition, an overall feeling of depression would greatly affect a pitchers well being in and outside of the sport. As was also stated earlier, pitchers must have confidence in themselves and their ability and depression is in one faced a lowered self confidence. Depression and anxiety commonly go hand in hand and together or alone they can greatly influence sport performance. One example of a baseball player who faced depression and saw a drastic change in performance is Joey Votto, first basemen for the Cincinnati Reds. He said in an interview with Bleacher Report during the 2009 season The stuff I was dealing with off the field finally seeped its way into the game. After taking time off from the game and getting his personal life in order, he came back to win the NL MVP, the most valuable player award, the next year. It is very uncommon to think of the impact that psychological problems can have on finding success in pressure situations, but the evidence shows that the connection is clear and players and coaches should be more aware of ... This includes United States Ambassador Chris Stevens, United States Diplomat Sean Smith, and two ex military members Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, who were both Navy SEALs and had served in Iraq and Afghanistan. To prevent future attacks on American Embassies and to prevent lives lost in those attacks, the United States government needs to create a way to transport information more efficiently and to provide more help in order to save American lives. Who is to blame for the Benghazi incident? In the beginning, the United States government blamed Nicoula Nicoula who the made the film The Innocence of Muslims. This film depicted the Prophet Mohammed as a ladies man, a flirt, and even a thug. Even though this film was highly offensive to the Muslim people. It was later revealed by the American government that this film was not the true cause of the Benghazi attack. The real cause was that the Libyan people were extremely upset that the government of the United States of America was trying to interfere with their government and pushing to create peace in Libya. Option #1 is that Tweetsie is run as normal and the show goes on as usual. Option #2 is running at half capacity, which means that only Main Street and the train will operate. All of the rides stop running and none of the shows take place during operating hours. Finally, Tweetsie has the option of just running train rides and closing all other aspects of the park. If this happens we let people in for free because all they would be able to do is ride the train. • 10. The Importance Of The Fair Trade Movement The movement I chose to research was the Fair Trade Movement. The main goal of the Fair Trade Movement is to provide support to allow workers and farmers in local communities to not get overshadowed or taken advantage of by large corporations and be provided with sustainable and reasonable working conditions. Fairtrade is important as it is used to help improve the lives and communities of producers that are small scale. Furthermore, Fairtrade is more than just trading goods It highlights the need for change in the rules and practice of conventional trade and shows how a successful business can also put people first. It is a tangible contribution to the fight against poverty, climate change and economic crisis (World Fair TradeOrganization). The key values of the Fairtrade movement include five values that the Fair Trade Movement are committed to which are: People First, Excellence, Integrity, Respect, and Passion (Fair Trade Canada). In terms of people, the Fairtrade movement focuses their goal around promoting and improving the wellbeing of people such as farmers, workers and other members of small scale, or local businesses. Secondly, for integrity they try to be as honest, ethical and transparent as possible as they are accountable to their stakeholders (Fair Trade Canada). Third, respect is a key value to the Fairtrade movement as they want to collaborate and work with diverse groups who share similar values as the movement. Finally, passion is their last key value ... • 11. Mind and Soul In the reading by Richard Swinburne, he evaluates the mortality of the soul and its interaction with the human body. His position is best described as attributing the soul to a light bulb, and the brain to a functioning socket: If the socket (brain) is damaged or the current turned off, the light (soul) will not shine. So, too, the soul will function if it is plugged into a functioning brain. Destroy the brain [...] and the soul will cease to function, remaining inert. Given his position, Swinburne s idea on the role of the mind and the soul, as well as the mortality of the soul are what I will be exploring. For Swinburne, the soul is essentially what our mind is. Now there is the mortality of the soul, given that Swinburne s definition of the soul is similar to my definition of the mind I will focus on that. I believe the human mind passes form body to soul upon death. But what happens after that I do not know. I feel that our minds on this new plane of existence cannot be understood as they are on this plane. Therefore I cannot comment on the possibility that they are mortal or immortal. There might be some inherent change in how our minds work once this transition takes place that may alter its functionality so much that it is nothing like it used to be, and thereby the original mind may be considered deceased. Or it may be that we go on transitioning from state to state forever.Relating the mind to Swinburne s views, he discusses the soul in terms of the laws of nature. In my opinion, I do not believe the above mentioned relationship follows the rules of nature as we understand them. We cannot say with certainty what the rules of nature are when discussing the soul, simply because the concept of it is such a complex one. Our minds are such complex things that we do not fully understand. Overall I tend to disagree with Swinburne on his ideas of the mortality of the soul and the relationship of the soul and body. In my belief, that we cannot definitively say the mind is mortal or immortal because it exists differently than the rest of our body. We can examine our hand, cut ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Wall Street firms like Lehman were churning more and more home loans into CDOs and selling them or investing their own money, there was a pressure on the banks to issue more loans so that they can be sold to the Wall Street firms in return for a commission. Slowly banks started lowering the credit quality for availing a home loan and aggressively used agents to source new loans. This slippery slope went to such an extent that in 2005, almost anyone in the U.S could buy a home worth $100,000 (45 lakhs INR) or more without income proof, without other assets, without credit history, sometimes even without a proper job. The U.S. housing market went into a classic speculative bubble. Home loans were easy to get, so more and more people were buying houses. The increased demand for houses caused the price to increase. Between 6 to 12 months of age, infants typically have developed said strong emotional connection to familiar people who have responded to their need for comfort, care, and other needs. Ethology, an approach that has become widely accepted in recent years, is focused upon the adaptive, or survival, value of behavior and its evolutionary history (Berk, 2012, p. 264). According to Infants, Children, and Adolescents, the ethological theory provides that babies are biologically prepared to contribute actively to establish a bond with their caregivers, which promotes the chances for their individual genes to survive. Since ethologists believe that behavior can be best understood in terms of one s adaptive value, a full understanding of the entire organism environment system, including physical, social, and cultural aspects is sought (Berk, 2012, p. 264). John Bowlby, who first applied this approach to the infant caregiver bond, maintained that the quality of future relationships is directly related to the quality of an infant s attachment to the caregiver (Berk, 2012, p. 265). Evaluation of Evidence Inspired by Konrad Lorenz s (1952) study of imprinting in baby geese, Bowlby believed that an infant, just like the young of most animal species, is born with built in behaviors that ensure that a parent stays close by, which improves the odds that the infant will remain safe from danger. Through these built in behaviors, a strong emotional connection develops. According to Lorenz, this strong emotional connection serves as a reference for future relationships. This quarter, I have been reading The Persuader by Lee Child. The main character, Jack Reacher, is an ex military cop, now a wandering lone wolf searching for justice. Two DEA agents approach him with a situation: they had an agent on a case who is now missing, but they can t open a case with the FBI because of legal issues. They know that Reacher is adroit in combat and undercover operations, and he accepts their request. Right off the bat, I observed short, quick sentences showing Jack s thoughts. Since he used to be in the military, he absorbs every little detail around him, predicting all of the possible outcomes. An example can be shown in this quote: Duke went back to his car. It bounced off the shoulder and straightened up. I followed him through the two miles. We killed our lights a hundred yards short of the driveway and made the turn. Took it slow. There was some moonlight. His fast and almost incomplete thoughts make him seem ready to react at any moment. While making Reacher s character consistent, Lee Child also demonstrates thorough knowledge about military technology topics. At one point in the book, Reacher uses an old school code to communicate a secret message to someone. Also, with each weapon that comes up in the book, Jack Reacher seems to have a deep understanding of all of them. This adds to making him seem even more like a real character because of his military background, so he would obviously have to know a lot about guns and other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Australian Emissions Trading Scheme Abstract The Australian emissions trading scheme (ETS) has been the hope of climate policy makers and environmental scientists alike to reduce the national carbon footprint. Replacing the implemented carbon tax law, the Australian ETS is a political issue due to the economic and social problems it entails. With the carbon tax being repealed recently by the current government, the comparison to the unpopular European Union ETS further emphasizes on its setbacks that it poses (Wood, 2010; Adams, 2014; Watkins, 2014). Figure 1: Comparison of greenhouse gas emissions per capita (UNSD, 2009; USDE, 2009) The Carbon Tax Law and Emissions TradingScheme Up to 2013, successive Australian governments have lobbied for an emissions trading scheme (ETS) to curb national emissions. One such legislative measure is the carbon tax law passed in Parliament in July 2012 through Acts such as the Clean Energy Act. Using a fixed taxation price of $A23 per tonne which will increase by 2.5% per annum, the carbon tax law applies to the company operations and facilities of Australia s top 500 polluters which exceed the annual direct emissions limit (Foran, 2011; Guglyuvatyy, 2012). These high polluting industries range from electrical power plants to the mining sector. The carbon tax law will subsequently transit into a cap and trade ETS managed by the Climate Change Authority in 2015. Also known as the Carbon Pricing Mechanism, this statutory institution will supervise carbon prices on an auction market, making the prices of greenhouse gases flexible (Guglyuvatyy, 2012; Adams, 2014). The aim of the ETS is to create economic incentives to entice industries to take environmentally friendly measures without negatively affecting the national job market and economic growth (AuGov, 2012; Adams, 2014). At that point, the Australian government also projected future aims of linking the national ETS with that of the European Union (AuGov, 2012; Watkins, 2014). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But I can t word it any other way; it is the truth. I have always been a people s person and it has always been a passion of mine to be able to help someone out. Taking the lifeguard course has fuelled my desire to give to the society. Wherever the location, I would try to help someone the best I can. I believe surgeons have one intention: to help a patient as best they can. Communication has never been an issue for me as I tend to listen intently and try to speak to someone in the clearest way possible. Problem solving and learning has always been a strength and something I have grown up enjoying. My life, like many others, has been through a lot of ups and downs. Family issues and emergencies do have a certain effect on me but over the years, I ve learnt to deal with the burden and the stress. These common traits demonstrates that I may have the capability of tackling the job as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, the parents are careless of what the girls do and want them to do things as they tell them to. Lastly, the girls opinions are being respected by their parents. • 47. Essay On Native American Indian Boarding School Starting off as a plan to assimilate and educate Native American Children, the boarding school program resulted in the stripping of culture and native identity. The cultural deprivation process began in 1860 when the Bureau of Indian Affairs established the first on reservation Indian boarding school in Washington state. The main goal of both the boarding and day schools was to assimilate Indian children into the American way of life (American Indian Council). At the start, the schools were all on reservation, designed to make education affordable and accessible to as many tribes as possible. This method held hopes of the children spreading American culture to parents; however, it allowed for Indian culture to seep into the children s lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Attending school was required by law; therefore, the Bureau would send police to physically confiscate children from their homes on reservations. By making attendance mandatory, the number of savage Indians exponentially decreased. Richard H Pratt said, Kill the Indian, save the man. This motto led to the hair of Indian boys getting cut, the banning of all tribal food, children were no allowed to return home and any relics from home were destroyed. Lone Wolf of the Blackfoot tribe said, Long hair was the pride of all Indians. The boys, one by one, would break down and cry when they saw their braids thrown on the floor. All of the buckskin clothes had to go and we had to put on the clothes of the White Man. If we thought the days were bad, the nights were much worse. This is when the loneliness set in, for it was when we knew that we were all alone. Many boys ran away from the school because the treatment was so bad, but most of them were caught and brought back by the police (PBS Telecommunications). If any of the students were non compliant with the policies, punishment consisted confinement, deprivation of privileges, a threat of corporal punishment or a restriction of diet (PBS ...
