Ghost Dance Research Paper
The Ghost Dance was a religion or movement that combined Christianity and traditional Indian
religion elements that served as a nonviolent form of resistance for Indians in the late nineteenth
century. At the time, conditions were bad on Indian reservations and Native Americans needed
something to give them hope or something to look forward too. So they created and turned to the
Ghost Dance.
The Ghost Dance movement all began with a dream in 1889 by a Paiute shaman named Wovoka.
In his dream, he was taken into a spirit world and saw all Native Americans rising into the sky and
the Earth opening up and swallowing all Whites and then returning back to its original state. The
Native Americans were then put back on Earth so that they

A schematic representation of brick clay resources in Great Britain is presented in Figure 1.
The market of bricks presented significant changes with the introduction of concrete blocks as the
latter replaced common bricks in construction. This resulted to a shift of the market in producing
facing bricks, used for aesthetic purposes (Figure 2). The use of facing bricks accounts for over
90% of demand (BGS, 2007) (DTI construction statistics) The production of facing bricks appears
quite stable for the last seven years. Common and engineering bricks are still produced, but in

much lower quantities (Figure 2), whereas the manufacturing of facing bricks have expanded
significantly and currently is described by several products with different colours, textures,
surfaces and sizes. Clay tiles have also been affected by the introduction of concrete. Ceramic
pipemaking has declined considerably due to competition from concrete and plastic pipes. The only
products that show an increase in demand are roofing tiles, which have become more popular
recently (BGS, 2007).
Bricks are produced either by extrusion or by the soft mud process. Extrusion is the commonest
option. Two schematic diagrams describing the manufacturing processes are presented in Figure 3

Refugees In Brazil Research Paper
The nation of Brazil believes that their is indeed a need for a solution to the refugee problem, that
in Europe, and that in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Brazil is one of the biggest recipients of
refugees in Latin America, with former Justice Minister EugГЄnio AragГЈo saying in June 2016,
given the financial circumstances, that Brazil could take up to 100,000 refugees, 20,000 per year.
The nationof Brazil has several reasons for accepting refugees into the country. With the acceptance
of refugees, from both areas, Brazil increases the nation s international reputation within the
community. Additionally, the nation of Brazil is in need of skilled workers, and refugees offer a
solution to the resettlement problem, and fills this need the nation of Brazil has. Refugees offer a
way for the nation of Brazil to boost its economy, and increase innovation within the country. As
the Nation of Brazil s economy is in turmoil, the refugees could offer a solution to the economic
problems, as they could boost the economy. This positive effects could certainly occur in other
countries that refugees take refuge in, as if they are given the proper compensation, refugees can be
an asset to a country.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Brazil has one of the highest number of immigrants coming to the country in the Western
hemisphere. The nation of Brazil has always been responsive to refugees and immigrants. Due to
the nation of Brazil s past, the nation of Brazil has a more accepting public than the majority of

Tomography Critique
Article Critique #1
Authors of the article Computed Tomography An Increasing Source of Radiation Exposure
commend the diagnostic advantages of computed tomography (CT), but declare there is
evidence and concern of the discipline s overuse in various patient populations, especially
pediatrics. Of the more than 62 million CT scans per year, almost 16% of these exams are
performed on children (David Hall, 2007, para. 1). The article s title and abstract clearly pinpoint
the dilemma. With the rising number of CT procedures, the authors cause for concern is three fold:
radiation doses received by the patient, cancer risks tied to ionizing radiation exposure and potential
for latent effects in the general public (David Hall, 2007). Unfortunately, the article s abstract is
lacking as it did not summarize what methodology is utilized or state a conclusion of the author s
findings.
The authors begin defending their stance by providing several reasons for the recent surge of CT
procedures: rapid technological advances, convenience to the patient and cost effectiveness (David
Hall, 2007). The calculated dose a patient receives from a CT procedure is only an estimated
exposure dose. To date, a patient s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The article s title, key points and the authors proposals related to this significant issue are
professional interests of mine. Performing daily CT procedures on the pediatric population is one
of my main job responsibilities. The authors provided numerous clinical examples, critical and
ample sample evidence from radiation exposed populations and alternatives procedures to support
and acknowledge that CT is often overused. The authors provide the percentages of CT procedures
performed and study conclusions, but they did not reveal their methodology and instrumentation
approaches. The content in the article is significant, but the authors data collection lacks evidence

Privacy Before And During The Job
Privacy before and during the Job In today s world, privacy is something that is hard to come by.
Every second of ever day a person is generally being watched. This could include traditional eye
contact spying, but it goes much deeper. A person s social media can be stalked, a person could
be caught performing a variety of actions on both security cameras and everyday cell phone
cameras, keylogging software is out there that can track a person s every keystroke, email and
phone conversations can be tapped and much more. A person that is applying for a job must be
careful and they must carry that carefulness into the workplace with them. Privacyis an important
aspect of a person life, this paper will look at a person s privacy rights during the hiring process,
while they have the job, and the various court ruling that have been passed as a result of conflict in
both areas. To start an examination of a person s social mediaprivacy will take place. Social media
is extremely prevalent in today s culture. Over 65% of adults who have access to the internet use
at least one form of social media. Some examples of social media include, but are not limited to,
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Snapchat, Google +, and LinkedIn. People use social media
to talk about their lives, vent about frustrating problems, announce big life accomplishments, and
much more. However, people need to be careful about what they disclose on social media
especially if it is angrily venting about a

Different Methods, Bacteria, And Development Transduction,...
Through three different methods, bacteria can obtain new genetic material: conjugation,
transduction and transformation Transduction is when a bacteriophage inserts it s DNA into the
host bacteria cell, while conjugation is when the bacteria shares DNA through direct contact, eg.
horizontal gene transfer. The third method, transformation, is the intake of external DNA into the
cell (Chen and Dubnau, 2004). In order for bacteriato be able to take in extraneous DNA, they must
first be in a state of competent (Hanahan, 1983). There are two types of transformation cells in
transformation: natural competence and artificial competence. Natural transformation can occur
in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria, but have different pathways to take in the new
DNA. There are several ways to induce competence onto some bacteria cells, that are not
naturally competence. Cells can be treated to heat shock, starved of nutrients, the use of
electroporation or keep in ionic solutions to induce competence by increasing the permeability of
the membrane (Van der Rest et al., 1999). Plasmids are circular double stranded DNA found in
bacteria that can encode for basic necessary functions (Couturier, et al., 1988). Ampicillin (6[D( )
a aminophenylacetamido] penicillanic acid) is an antibiotic that is a derivative of penicillin and is
can work against both gram negative and gram positive bacteria (Acred et al. 1962)
The experiment insisted of insertion of plasmids that

Homeland Security Master Goal
I have held several positions throughout my life. The knowledge and experience that I have
acquired has played an intricate part in molding me into the person I am today. For most of my
life I have always been driven to achieve. I am always setting goals for myself, long and short term
and stay committed to achieving these goals. I feel that you must hold yourself accountable to your
commitments and pursue what drives you. To say that you are going to accomplish something is
one thing, but staying committed and actually achieving the goal is a true testament of
perseverance. Commitment is not just a word, it is a chosen way of life. Sometimes this comes

One of my most important goals is having the knowledge and skill set to make a difference. The
ability to analyze security related problems and develop sound solutions can only be gained
through education and experience. This degree program will provide me the ability to project my
thoughts regarding security concerns with a rationale yet credible solutions that are supported by
experience and knowledge obtained from this higher level of education. The Master s Degree
program will enhance my ability to analyze weaknesses in our national security and develop
problem solving skills that are required to be successful in today s ever evolving security within
FPS and the Department of Homeland Security. The development of the Interagency Security
Committee (ISC) that has established security standards for our government facilities is
invaluable. If ISC standards would have been implemented in the past, many horrific tragedies
would not have occurred at our federal facilities. It is imperative that these standards are improved
upon to meet the security demands of the future. This can only happen through continued education
and commitment to enhancing our security. The completion of this degree program will provide
me the necessary skills to improve all aspects of security not only as a commander within FPS but
in all areas of DHS. I will have accomplished my goal, but more importantly strengthened a nation
that relies on keeping one step ahead of a security breach within our critical

The Telecommunications Industry Is Evolving
The Telecommunications industry is evolving. In 2006, 98% of the wireless market was held by
the big three, Rogers, TELUS and Bell. Today, due largely in part to recent government action,
25% of the market that was held by the big three, is now held by other competitors (Industry
Canada, 2015). How are these companies performing in this new, more competitive market? TELUS
and Rogers Communicationsare the two largest telecommunications companies in Canada and this
will be an analysis and comparison of their recent financial performance.
Rogers Communications, a Summary
Canada s largest telecommunications company, Rogers Communications Inc. (Rogers) is a
diversified Canadian telecommunications and media company. They are Canada s largest
wireless services provider. Their Cable segment is a leading Canadian cable services provider,

Literary Analysis Of I Wish I Were Her Nubian Girl
The lyric poem, I wish I were her Nubian Girl is about a man describing his desires. The word
Nubian from the title means to be a servant, which they were commonly known as in ancient
Egypt. Because it is a lyric poem, it can be interpreted in several different ways. In the opening
two lines of the poem, the author begins with repeating the title of the poem, which can
exemplify its importance and meaning. I wish I were her Nubian girl, one to attend her (bosom
companion) . The speaker, who is assumed to be a man because he wants to be in her service, and
refers to himself as a Nubian, explicits his obsession. He is in awe and in loveof the landscape that
he is admiring, and decides not to approach her. But, the speaker also confuses the reader but
calling her Confidante (3), which means a well trusted womanfriend. This twists his claim around
because he is in love with this woman, yet calls her a friend. A more disturbing perspective that
the poem can take on is that the speaker wants to be the slave to this woman he admires. As
mentioned before, the speaker considers the girl as a confidante, but then follows on to say that
he wants to undress and take her virginity. O she ll give pleasure! in future, no grown man will
deny it! But tonight, to me, this chaste girl bares unthinking the delicate blush/Of a most secret
landscape, her woman s body (9 14). These lines also gave me pedophilic vibes because he calls the
femalefigure a girl and it was interesting

Directional Receiver Design For Interference Management
1. Introduction A Macrocell user operating in the same band as femtocell users may cause
unacceptably high interference levels, if it is close to the femtocell base station supporting the
aforementioned femtocell users, and far away from its own macrocell base station. Additionally, the
fact that femtocells can be deployed in an ad hoc fashion anywhere within a macrocell, and can be
removed as easily, adds to the critical importance of interference management. Notwithstanding the
importance of this issue, the concerns listed above renders jointly optimal design of the two
networks impractical due to the complexity and overhead associated with a large dynamic network.
Consequently, a computationally manageable yet effective interference management strategy is
needed. Interference management has been an important design element for multiuser systems in
the past two decades. Judicious receiver design for interference limited systems, e.g., CDMA, and
multiuser MIMO, proves useful for interference cancellation [3]. In addition to multiuser detection,
transmit power control [4], and joint design of transmitters and receivers [5], [6] offer interference
mitigation needed in interference limited systems. We note that while our approach does not
involve explicit frequency partitioning between the tiers, i.e., relies solely on the space dimensions,
allowing for greater flexibility, it is possible to have our scheme accompany a frequency
partitioning scheme and increase the number

Automotive Technician
There are millions of automotive vehicles racing on the roads everywhere. Besides that, there are
numerous automotive manufacturers and new types of vehicles such as hybrids and full electric,
which make each vehicle technologically different from another. Naturally, a different skill set and
knowledge base is required to repair each automobile.
With time and use, cars tend to wear out and have diverse problems. This is where the role of an
automotive technician begins. They are not only responsible for identifying the specific causes of
problems in automobiles but also for correcting the problems through diagnosis and repair.
They help prolong the life of a vehicle and improve its efficiency by using specialized tools and
diagnostic equipment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technologies used in different vehicles are evolving with high tech computer and safety systems
as well as power plants for electric and hybrid cars. As new technologies develop, there is more of a
need for specialized technicians to diagnose and repair vehicles with hi tech systems.
Due to a shortage of highly skilled automotive technicians, unparalleled opportunities are in store
for specialized automotive technicians to work and develop within the automotive repair field.
Employment shortages in other fields in some cases have been outsourced, but automotive repair is
one that can t be outsourced. Opportunities to work with dealers and repair facilities should be
readily available for many years to come for a specialized automotive technician with the proper
training and certification!
One doesn t necessarily have to be a graduate or a postgraduate in order to work as a general
automotive technician. You can begin your career during high school by joining the training
programs popularly offered to students. It will give you a basic know how about cars, their parts
and systems. Therefore, by the time you graduate high school, you may already be earning money
and will be skilled enough to start working at a larger company that will present more opportunity.

Miss America Pageant Reflection By John Oliver
Humor s powerful, influential qualities that key in on deficient human behaviors combined with
societal constructs that evolve from them in a way that reveals their absurdity, often to a
hilarious degree, is what makes satire entertaining and, often, interestingly informative.
Comedians that engage in satire deliver a message that may be considered rude if spoken by any
other means. Satire disarms the audience and pardons the comic from responsibility for their
criticisms, and is an especially powerful tool in repressive political and social realms. Last Week
Tonight with John Oliver uses the satirical news format as a means to address the ridiculousness
of beauty pageants as it continues to objectify women in a climate in which social constructs are
shifting towards feminist equality and persuasion of the audience to agree with the commentary.
Considering the context of the Miss America Pageant reflection by John Oliver in his satirical
news program, his goal is to select a particular topic to deconstruct and discuss the inadequacies
with a humoristic flair. The social climate from the early 20th Century introduction of the Miss
America Pageant to current day is vastly different, and while the pageant evolved over the last 90
plus years, the basic tenets remain. Today s woman is considered to be independent, strong,
intelligent and the physical appearance is but a side note. However, the pageant maintains the focus
on physical appearance, which to many is

Moralism In The Movie High Noon
High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950 s, shines light on the true nature of one
standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red
Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were
forced to give names of others who they thought were communists or else they would be punished.
If the communist actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other s careers. Some of
the people refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors
stood up for what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not
very willing to support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn t want to risk
their own reputation and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those
falsely convicted, and exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing
about it in order to protect themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture s
main character is a marshal named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He s asked by the
townspeople to relocate because a few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding
to the advice of the townspeople, Cain stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all
four of the villains. People slowly remove themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He
has to face his enemies alone.
High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight
alone. Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious
beliefs. Tousle, in the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of
innocent people being claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on
the line for what they believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors,
Zinnemann wanted the audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the
marshal s face, the weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar,
and punched one of the men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his

Creation Of The Sistine Chapel s Accomplishments
In 1508, Pope Julius II wanted a geometric ornament and the placement of twelve Disciples in
spandrels (spaces between two arches) around the decoration to cover up the original blue ceiling
covered in stars. The task was asked to thirty three year old sculptor, Michelangelo, who although
at the time did not want to paint the ceiling, proposed the idea of old testament stories along the
ceiling. The first stories showcased are The Creation of the Heavens and Earth, The Creation of
Adam and Eve, The Expulsion from the Garden of Eden, and the story of Noah and the Great
Flood. When the painting was first begun, the painting, The Deluge, showed multiple figures that
were small in size that had very complex stories.

It was completed in the December of 1989 and was unveiled in its entirety after being approved

was ran by a group of conservators including Gianluigi Colalucci, Maurizio Rossi, and Piergiogio
Boretti. In 1979, a chemical compound, AB 57, was tested on the East Wall. AB 57 is a
calcium dissolving solvent, a solution made up of ammonium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate,
desogen (anti fungal acid), and carboxyl methyl cellulose, which is then dissolved in water,
developed by Professor Paulo and Laura Mora. It was made to remove insoluble salts and
materials that had been incrusted into the paintings, and ended up being able to bring very bright
colors into the painting. When the AB 57 was to be applied, it would have to sit for three minutes,
and then taken off by washing it with water. Following that it would dry for twenty four hours,
and this application process would be repeated again. Another chemical called B 72 was also used
to seal the walls lunettes (Ancestors of Christ), but this process was quickly thrown out. As a way
to ensure that the restoration would remain the way it is, an intricate climate control system was
designed to protect the frescos from air pollution, heat, and

Comparing Relationship between Teller and Tale in The...
Relationship between Teller and Tale in The Merchant s Tale and The Wife of Bathe
A relationship is usually seen between the teller of a tale and the tale that he or she decides to
share. Chaucer s pilgrim, the Merchant, uses his feelings on marriage to teach a lesson in his tale.
The Wife of Bathe also relies on her life experience to tell her tale. The two relationships in the tales
can then be compared.
In his prologue, the Merchant recounts how he despises being married. He has only been married
for two months and he regrets the decision he made because his wife is the worst of all. He takes
these negative views of marriage into his tale.
The old man that gets to receive the Merchant s feelings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The husband is the one who gets the bad end of the deal, which is exactly how the Merchant feels
in his marriage.
The Wife of Bathe has married five men and has a completely different opinion of marriage than
the Merchant. She enjoys being married and wants to have control over the marriage. This isn t
exactly what she finds in her life, therefore, in her tale, she creates the ending to her approval.
Although it is the wife who is always looking for a husband in her personal life, in the Wife s
tale, it is the man who is forced to find what it is that all women desire. In the end he is obligated
to marry, while the Wife is always excited to marry her next husband. The Wife wants the woman
in the marriage to make the decisions and to have power, which is also seen in the old woman in
her tale. In her tale, the old woman basically tricks the man into marrying her, and then into kissing
her. This gives her control and she can then reveal her true self.
Both of the tellers attitudes can easily be seen in the tales they share. The Merchant gives the
negative view of marriage while the Wife s encounter is triumphant for women. The Wife enjoys
being married, which is evident by the number of husbands that she has had. The Merchant has
been married two months and hates every part of it. The Merchant uses many stories of unhappily
wed men and women to support his view. He shows that

The Use Of Rubia In Aramaic
It s a tradition on Rosh Hashanah, to eat a variety of random foods as symbols for the upcoming
Jewish New Year.
Each food has a different meaning, weakly attributed to its name in Aramaic or Hebrew. At any
given time there is at least one food that you will find completely revolting (fish head anyone?) and
a couple others that you kind of like anyway.
But what you didn t know is that each food you like actually tells you everything you need to know
about your own personality and what type of neurosis awaits you in the coming year.

The End Of Times Analysis
The End of Times or the Beginning of Times
C.S Lewis The Last Battle brings up metaphorical ideas about how the end of times happens and
leaves the reader lingering about what happens next. Lewis mentions the great giant, Father Time as
a figure in The Last Battle, who when woken will interfere with the dynamics of Narnia and the
conception of time. As Aslan awakens Father Time, Narnia becomes shaken up and the concept
of time becomes ambiguous leading to the end of time for Narnia. In the end, monsters are
devouring Narnia, leading the inhabitants of Narnia to escape the old Narnia in order to enter a
new, and more real Narnia. As the monsters devour Narnia, the remains of Narnia become this
blank, new world, which could be interpreted as the beginning of a world (the beginning of Narnia
or the beginning of the real world), making The Chronicles of Narnia a book without an end. The
world of Narnia had to start somewhere and must have developed over time to become Narnia at
its prime (earlier on in the chronicles) compared to in The Last Battle, which is a time where Aslan
is remembered as a distinct memory. However, by the end of The... Show more content on

Nevertheless, the new world can be depicted in two ways; one way to understand the end of
times as the beginning of times is to see Narnia as a book without and end, in which the end of

understanding the end of times as the beginning of times is to see the end of times in Narnia as
the beginning of times in the real world. The monsters that extinguishes can be a correlation to the
non magical creatures of dinosaurs, which creates a link between the magical world of Narnia and
the real world. Either way, the end of times becomes the beginning of

Company Law
Introduction
The issues in the case of Hawthorn Blood Supplies Co Ltd , which is a listed company on
Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), are concerned protection of shareholder s and creditor s
interests. We will identify possible legal issues in the relation to the Corporation Act 2001 and
discuss whether they have been any breaches of relevant common law rules and statutory
provisions in relation to capital maintenance , share buy backs , financial assistance and payment of
dividends . We will also briefly discuss particular relevance of section 588G in relation to Roger.

Section 260A(1)(a) permits a company to give financial assistance provided that the assistance
does not materially prejudice either the company, its shareholders or the company s ability to pay
its creditors (Ciro 2009).
In the case of Hawthorn Blood Supplies Co Ltd, Roger convinces other directors to give him a
$10 million loan. Roger uses his company to use some of the loan money to buy shares in
Hawthorn Blood Supplies Co Ltd to boost its share price and then sell it. By giving Roger this
loan Hawthorn Blood Supplies Co Ltd will subsequently reduce its capital and put shareholder s
and creditors at risk. This would breach s260A1 (a). Section 260A(1)(b) permits a company to
give financial assistance even if this would materially prejudice the interests of the company or
its ability to pay its creditors, provided that the assistance is approved by shareholders pursuant to
s260B. This procedure is very similar approval for selective capital reductions and selective share
buy backs. In our case the board of directors has failed to get shareholders approval when they
decided to lend Roger $10 million. There is clearly a breach of s260A(1)(b) and a possible breach
of conflict of interests.
Relevance of section 588G

Tale Of Two Cities Hate
Two of the most common literary motifs are love and hate. In Charles Dickens s novel A Tale of
Two Cities there is a constant battle between love and hate. Love is representative in friendship
and family. Hate is representative in revenge of the aristocracy. Lucie s love is very evident for
her friends and family, but her friends and family s have been just as evident. Dickens shows
that love overcomes hate, but with consequences when Darnay gives up his family name for the
good of France but is still sentenced to death, when Miss Pross loses her hearing as result of
defending the hypothetical life of Lucie Manette, and when Carton gives up his life for Lucie s
happiness. Darnay s family consists of some of the most awful people in France. His uncle, The
Marquis, symbolizes a Gorgon (114). But regardless of his family s standing in society and all
their money Darnay disowned his family by abandon[ing] (120) his family name for the common
good of his country, France. Even though Darnay acted with persistence and love, his name,
EvrГ©monde, still followed him through life. It caused him to be number one on Madame
Defarge s hit list. When Madame Defarge found out about Darnay and Lucie s wedding, she

Sociology Of Violence
Aggression and war typically are not seen in various forms. One could argue that war is not
always where violent acts are seen, in the sense of cold wars, so it is can also be said to be a stage
for aggressive, rather than violent, acts. However, violence has multiple variations including:
mental violence, symbolic violence, and lastly as studied, political violence, that cultural
anthropologists have significantly improved the understanding of. Before delving into the different
categories of violence, it is important to understand that the uses of violence also vary. When
examining violence, it is crucial to discern the action from the perspective of the perpetrator.
(Hansen, 367) As seen in Riches dynamic triangle of violence, those who... Show more content on

Yet, violence does not need to be a physical act, it can also be mental or symbolic. This is
someone s ability to maintain a permanent hold on another person based on economic or
practical commitments. (Hansen, 369) Many scholars will find this does not classify being
labeled as violence. However, symbolic violence is something that is consistently seen in states.
Symbolic violence is an important tool commonly used by states in the ordering of relationships
of superiors and inferiors. States are able to justify their infliction of terror by saying their own
actions are just a reaction to the symbolic violence that is implicit in opposition. (Nagengast, 111)
This is where we begin to see the topic of political violence finally discussed. First and foremost, it
is important to clarify that political violence may or may not be direct violence. (Nagengast, 114) A
state may take actions such as limiting food sent to poorer people, hurting their chances of survival
without actually physically hurting them. State violence can be referred to by using the term terror.
Terror is used by the states in order to maintain the status

Critical Success Factors Of A Firm s Performance
Critical success factors are measures of those aspects of a firm s performance that are essential to
its competitive advantage and, therefore, to its success (Blocher, Stout, Juras, Cokins, 2013). One
of the original uses of Critical Success Factors as a concept is by McKinsey and Company in
Boston during the 1950s to determine how a corporation should compete in each of its many
businessunits (Isakson Sircar, 1990). As can be seen by the above quote, for a company in the real
estatebusiness all of these critical success factors are either dependent upon or relate to the
service provided by the firm. If a company is not providing the level or type of service which
consumers are demanding, then none of the critical success factors mentioned above will show a
positive position or future for the company. A generational change in the needs and wants of
consumers in the real estate business has caused the growth of what the traditional service
providers are calling hybrids, such as Redfin, Help A Sell, and Xome, which provide services to
consumers that focus heavily on technological innovation and cutting cost for their customers
(Inman, 2015).
Sales, profitability, and liquidity are the three financial critical success factors. These three do not
require much discussion as they are factors discussed by all when evaluating the current state of any
company in any industry. Without sales and profits a company cannot succeed and with a trend

Lord Byron Analysis
Satire mocks a person or an event by using humor, irony, and exaggeration for the purpose to
expose the true identity of someone or something. In the early 19th century, Lord Byron, also
known as George Gordon, a leading figure in the Romantic Movement was heavily involved in
satire because he saw great poets such as Walter Scott, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and William
Wordsworth betraying their principles. The poets also lost their passion towards the Romantic
Movement. In addition, the usage of satire fits the personality of Byron because he always found
his experiences in life humorous and never lost touch with reality, which allowed him to grow as an
influential poet. Furthermore, Lord Byron s mission was to use satire to entertain his... Show more

Ultimately, he found his voice in Childe Harold s Pilgrimage , and even though it was an
unfinished work, it continues to impress contemporary readers. Additionally, Lord Byron valued
his image; he enjoyed knowing that he is well known and that he has the attention of his readers.
Despite Byron s actions in his works, he is a passionate man of literature and esteems being a hero
in the eyes of his audience as he entertains them. In short, he loved to be the superstar of the
movement and he enjoyed all the attention that he was receiving. Since Byron started writing satire,
he provoked poets that were alive during his time because he was demeaning their works. In
addition, when he received humiliating feedback from his first publication back in 1808, Byron in
response decided to write the famous satirical poem, English Bards and Scotch Reviewers. The
main reason that leads him to write the literary work is that he became obsessed with his own
image and felt embarrassed with the criticism that was given to him. Furthermore, Byron was
warned by his close friends not to publish his literature with his name or the result would be facing
the consequences by other Romantic critics. For example, he thought that the current poets had the
influence to end his career. After thinking about the outcomes, Byron decided to publish the work
anonymously and only target those that had given him bad criticism. He highlighted how

Lay le Freine explores themes of patience being rewarded, of the oppressed turning out to be
noble, and of identity establishment. Le Freine and her mother form a central conflict within the
moral structure of the tale that condemns envy and rewards kindness. The mother is so envious
of the birth of her neighbour s twins that she spreads a rumour that a woman only gives birth to
twins if they belong to two different men. Through this subplot, Lay le Freine includes reference
to the extensive superstition about whether or not a woman is virtuous if she gives birth to
twins. The presence of this superstition may reflect the court s strictness about reproduction
levels, particularly to do with the poor, during the medieval times during which this was written.
Pressure from the court, the church, as well as embarrassment within society could have often
lead to the abandonment of a child; such as le Freine. In her story, le Freine manages to flourish
even though she has been exposed, proving that her difficulties have not damaged, but improved
her character; And damisel Freyn, so hende of mouth, / Her semblaunt and her gentrise, / Her

nature since it ignites a feeling of confidence in the audience who would enjoy hearing about a
mistreated character like themselves, who rises from the ashes despite their limitations to prove
themselves noble, and despite having nothing to their name. As much as this story would likely
ignite feelings of hope amongst the audience, they are also able to relate to the voice of le Freine,

Artist:
Barbara Hepworth was a sculptor artist who produced over 600 pieces in her life time, and she
worked up to her death. She was born in 1903 in the United Kingdom, and died in St Ives,
Cornwall, in 1975. Hepworth moved to St Ives at the beginning of World War 2, 1939. She is
described as a world recognised sculpture in a period where female artists were rare. She grew a
love and passion for her natural surroundings in her new found home. Barbara Hepworth created
her sculptures with passion, I have always loved the joy of carving, and the rhythm of movement
which grows in the sculpture itself, just as I like dancing or skating. I like the relaxation of sound

Hepworth was sent a large log of wood from her friend. She hadn t with this scale previously and
she said it had given her a whole new perspective on where she could take her artistic practice.
The scale of the log allowed her to carve spaces big enough for her to fit in. It surrounded her
whole body, making her part of the sculptural landscape. I the sculptor am the landscape .
As Hepworth began receiving more public commissions globally, she found that her wooden
works were too precious and difficult to transport long distances. It was around this time (the
1950s) where she began working with metals such as bronze. As an example, Hepworth produced
a large bronze figure Single Form for the United Nations Plaza in New York. Hepworth was highly
acclaimed for her sculptures. She won first prize at the Sou Pour in 1959, allowing her to finance

Barbara Hepworth explains her practice as being soothing and relaxing, it makes her feel at home

Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Memory Essay
Way more than time just melting away
This paper will take a look at Salvador Dali s painting, The Persistence of Memory, painted in
1931. As the viewer can tell, this is a story of time and life. The memories start in the background
where all is well and things are straight and calm. Moving on to the cliff, the observer possibly sees
a well behaved teenager. There is nothing horrible here that leads the spectator to gasp, and the
viewer knows this person made it through that time in their life. Then the picture moves on to the
age of about twenty, the memories are fond but in the distant past. The memories are protected by a

The next item that the eye is drawn to is the fly, resting on this clock. Although this clock seems to
be melting like the others in the picture, the fly plays an important part in this painting. Being the
painting is named, The Persistence of Memory, the fly leads the onlooker to think these memories
might not be as old as the rest. Flies are drawn to items that are rotting but still have some
nutritional value; this clock is fresh enough to have more value than the other clocks around it,
giving the spectator the thought that maybe while the clock is a memory, it is not distant and is
still brought to the frontal lobe now and then to be revisited. After looking beyond the focal point,
to the left of that clock and even a little bit closer is a pocket watch. This watch is in a contrasting
orange color. This is the only orange used in the painting. The placing of the pocket watch is
strategic, as it too is on the shelf with the most recent memory, but the line and angle of the shelf
automatically pulls your eye to it. The pocket watch is closed and highly decorated with black.
Although, the viewer cannot make out what the clock is decorated in, it seems to convey that this
clock is very important to the scene. The onlooker might even see this as a memory that has not
been opened yet. Something grand will take place in this time line portrayed by this painting.
Oddly as this is, the eye begins to then follow

game hunting. Big game hunting is most often hunting done in other countries. Many times, it is
found on the continent of Africa, where people can big game hunt, where they hunt rhinos,
elephants, lions, and many other animals. Each type of hunting has certain people who love that
type more than the others. Often times, this itself is a big source of social identity within the
realm of hunters. An important note to make is how hunting is an ever decreasing part of our
lives. An article talks about this decline and mentions how From 1963 to 1967, the first years for
which Alabama has data, an average of more than 113,000 hunters harvested more than 1 million
rabbits a year. [And by the year of 2015] only 15,000 hunters harvested fewer than 100,000 rabbits.

The Crusades Research Paper
Without The Crusades there would be very little to the development of Western Europe. The
Crusades were very important, and with any large moment, there are struggles and gains. Money
is a big role that effects time periods, and the economy in each time will change the outcome to the
time period. The currency was split in two ways, with kings and nobles or the poor people
desperately. The Crusadeshelped bring in revenue to Eastern Europethrough goods they brought
back. The Crusades helped increase the wealth of the Catholic Church and the power of the pope.
Thus the prominent part which the Popes took in the enterprises naturally fostered their power and
influence by gaining control of the armies and resources of Christendom. The people... Show more

The wealth of the churches drastically increased by the knights and lords going out to fight
selling their land, or by gifted to them for their prayers that they had for them. Thousands of the
crusaders, returning home with poor morale and in health, got better at the churches and raised
their morales. The crusades also had affects on feudalism. Thousands of barons and knights sold
their plots of land so they could go on the Crusades. Many more died in battle and their owned
land would move up the scale back to the king. Their loss of numbers in both amount of people
and the influence, and the growth of the kings power, is traced in the changes that came about in
France, the base of the Crusades. The motivation given to explorers, such as the famous, Marco
Polo, and the less talked about, Sir John Mandeville, to explore Asia and its uncharted areas. It even
inspired sea exploration in the 15th century. Motivating the expedition of Christopher Columbus,
Magellan, Vasco de Gama originated back to the enthusiasm of the expeditions of the Crusades.

Character Analysis Of Huckleberry Finn
In Huckleberry Finn, Huck acts like an animal because for most of his life he was out on his
own being able to do what he wanted to due to his father drinking all the time and not caring
about Huck. Soon he is adopted by the lonely Widow Douglas and her sister Miss Watson. The
two sisters try to civilize Huck and make him acceptable to society by giving him spelling books,
putting him in nice clothing, making him sit up straight and behave, and a few other things, but
Huck did not like reading or spelling, thought that the clothing was itchy and annoying, and
could only think of getting away. I believe he acts this way because being out on his own has
made him create his own morals and rules since for most of his life until he was taken in by the
widow he has not had any authority figure to tell him to do stuff or not to do stuff. He has not
even had to go to school until he is forced by his new caretakers. Also, with his dad being an
abusive alcoholic, Huck probably does not have much respect for authority or ever wants to have
a father or mother figure at the beginning of the story. When you think about it, Huck sees two
kinds of adults, the civilized like the Widow Douglas, and the uncivilized like his dad. Soon he
has sort of a substitute father figure in his traveling companion Jim, the escaped slave he meets
when he runs away from his dad. When he runs away he is free to do as he pleases again without
anyone being there to tell him what to do. Similarities

Title: High concentrations of sodium diet causes kidney stones in the African American male
population?
Studies have shown that a person s sodium intake can contribute to an increase in blood pressure,
which can lead to heart disease and other health complications. Over the years many investigators
have continued to study the effects of sodium on the human body. African Americans living in the
United States have a higher risk of having diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease.
However, not much research investigated the effects of high salt consumption on the odds of
developing kidney stones in African Americanmen. While this study will not build upon any
currently published literature, it will help to create awareness of ... Show more content on

Also, it will be difficult to create an accurate analysis from observation alone, leading to my
observational case control study only telling one part of the story. Another limitation of this study
is convenience sampling and low generalizability due to a small geographic area, extremely high
salt intake in this case. To minimize recall and selection bias, I will have to clearly identify and
provide a clear definition of my study population. The control group of my study will reflect the
exposure of the population which gave rise to the cases; controls will be selected independently of

How The Different Mixing Methods Affected The Final Volume...
Figure one shows how the different mixing methods affected the final volume of the mayonnaise.
It is expected that as the mixing methods gained speed and applied more shear force, the
mayonnaise would have more volume. This was seen in the data. The biggest volume of
mayonnaise achieved was done by a blender and by a homogenizer. The blender that yielded a low
volume product was because the emulsionbroke, which explains why a large volume was not seen.
The high speed homogenizer also had problems with the mayo, which explains their low volume
yield. A mayonnaisemade with a lot of shear force is expected to have a greater volume because
the higher the sheer force, the smaller the oil droplets would be. This means that there were
smaller oil droplets which allowed more total droplets to be incorporated into the mayonnaise.
More droplets leads to a higher volume because there is more surface area in the mixture of the
internal and external phase. The emulsion also remained stable due to the smaller droplets, which
will be looked at in detail later. Since the mayo was more stable, none of the emulsion broke during
the time between preparing the mayonnaise for analysis and when it was actually analyzed.
Overall, the results seen in figure one were generally expected.
Figure two shows the effect of different mixing methods and their effect on various texture
indicators of the mayonnaise. These indicators were thickness, viscosity, and separation. It is
expected that the higher

This analysis is on the organization of Symmetry Financial. This essay will discuss the attitudes,
leadership, managerial policies, and practices used by them. By using this data, I will provide a list
of recommendations on how to improve the company. This analysis will describe the culture, nature
of the company, motivational techniques, and modes of communication used. I will provide
information about the company to ensure that the readers understand all of the different categories
used to analyze the company. I will provide information on how individuals, and groups of people
behave within the organization. I will also be evaluating their leadership techniques and how the
owners assist in the day to day running of the business.
One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy employees. It is
important for employees and managers have an established plan to deal with critical matters.
Managers must study the behavior of their employees to decide how they will achieve their desired
goals. Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the
interface between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. (Griffin, 2012)
We can divide organizational behavior in 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals
within the organization. The second is the work group which is made by placing workers into
specific groups. The last one is how the organization itself behaves.

J.R.R. Tolkien is often the first name that comes to mind when one thinks of popular fantasy
writers. Writing stories ever since he was a young child, he had always experimented with
language and the creation of his own little world. J.R.R. Tolkien s masterpiece, The Lord of the
Rings, has greatly influenced the fantasy genre and set an example for fantasy writers around the
world. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born to Arthur and Mabel Tolkien in 1892 in the Orange
Free State, located in South Africa. When he was three years old, his mother took him and his
younger brother Hilary to England to visit their maternal grandparents in Birmingham. Arthur died
of rheumatic fever within the following year, however, so they never returned to... Show more

As a second lieutenant he was eventually stationed in Bouzincourt, a village located in France.
He was highly unaccustomed to the battlefield; he did not expect the dangers that he would face
every which way he turned. He suffered from trench fever and was shipped home to recover at
one point, though he never fully recovered until the war ended in 1918 (D. Rogers, I. Rogers,
21). After the war ended, Tolkien and his family settled in Oxford, where he found a job
working on the Oxford English Dictionary. He also met new friends such as C.S. Lewis, Hugo
Dyson, and Charles Williams. They formed a group called The Inklings where they would come
together and discuss literary works, including their own. Tolkien had begun writing The Hobbit,
pieces of which he would read aloud to his group of friends who very much enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, finishing the children s book with haste was not on the top of Tolkien s priority
list. The book was finally published by Allen and Unwin in 1937 and eventually enjoyed not
only by children, but by the general public as well (D. Rogers, I. Rogers, 22 23). Tolkien wrote a
number of stories after The Hobbit, but many were incomplete; very few works were published.
Everyone wanted to hear more about the curious hobbits. His fellow Inklings encouraged him to
keep writing, but the process was slow going, especially as he found more and more to write about.

Is The Patriot Movie Historically Accurate
My opinion may be different than yours but here it is . Overall in the movie , scenes / events did
occur that similarly happened in history and on the other hand other events were not historically
accurate. If you didn t know already the movie the Patriot is based on a character Benjamin Martin
who is an unassuming man who is forced to join the American revolutionary warafter his son
Thomas is killed. Benjamin was tasked with keeping the Lord Cornwallis s regiments pinned south
through guerilla warfare. But back to my key point in this essay I will be explaining why I

a widowed father of seven children. Benjamin avoids fighting in the revolutionary war , but then
resides after something devastating happens. Benjamin leads the americans to a successful
victory in the end of the movie against the British. However, in history the depiction of the
characters he is based off is actually accurate but some things arent. For instance in the movie
Benjamin s house was burned by the army of british and he is a militia commander / fighter in
south carolina . This relates to history because the patriot source states one of the characters
benjamin is based off is named Andrew Pickens. Andrew Pickens house was also burned down by
tories which lead him to join the patriot effect , which is similar to what happened to Benjamin and
also Pickens is also known for his large family and prehysteria background . The Patriot Source
also states that unlike Martin , Pickens was not widowed at the start of the

Easyjet s main competitors in the market are legacy carriers: Air France KLM, IAG, Alitalia,
Lufthansa Group and Air Berlin. The main structural advantages of the company against
legacies are: seat density, load factors, fleet, point to point vs. feeder, pensions/ crew costs and
overheads. As opposed to Easyjet, the legacy has to charge the double amount of Easyjet fare to
get same revenue for the aircraft. The cost advantage and the ability to offer affordable fares to
the customers helps Easyjet to grow further taking shares from the legacies and generate higher
levels of profits. During one year, to September 30, 2014 the number of European short haul seats
was increased by 4.3% and by 3% on Easyjet markets. Besides, Easyjet was ahead in the market by
seat growth of 5.1% in the 2014 financial year, which was a result of short haul European fleets and
GDP growth. The advantages of Easyjet against lower cost competitors is important to mention the
strength of the network, including market presence and Pan European network, strong balance

of past cultures allow us to physically see what was essential and valued by these ancient peoples.
Artifacts tell us about suspicions, beliefs, everyday life and everything in between without these
crucial remnants of culture, we could not even begin to understand what was before us. Although
these artifacts are useful for learning and understanding ancient civilizations, there is much debate
about the morality of other countries buying and owning these historical pieces. Every civilization,
past and present leaves behind a cultural trail everywhere it goes thus making exploration of

Macy s Marketing Strategy And Innovation On The National...
Macy s is a company that is embedded in our national pass times and has become more than just
a retailing store. Its long history of retailing is over 150 years old. It was founded in 1843 by
Rowland Hussey Macy in Harverhill, Massachusetts and was not originally a retailing store.
Originally, Rowland targeted the mill industry and it employees and opened four dry good
stores. Unfortunately early success did not come for Macy as the company s first stores
actually all failed. Luckily, Mr. Macy was a resilient man who learned from his early mistakes
and realized that his target market for this type of store was not mill employees but a higher end
clientele. He opened his new store R.H. MACY on Sixth Ave between 13th and 14th Street with
the trademark star flying high. Mr. Macy had used his tattoo that he had on his arm when he
worked in Nantucket on a whaling ship, the Emily Morgan. This was a success for Mr. Macy
and as his company grew so did his tactics and innovation on bringing in new customers. He was
the first to implement theme exhibits in his stories as well as illuminating window displays which
was new tactics in the late 1900 s. He was also the first store to use publicity devices to bring in
new customers and since they did not have modern communication he used Santa Claus as a public
figure to draw in customers. Unfortunately Mr. Macy would not see the 20th century and passed
away. After his death, the company had another explosive growth cycle as

  • 2. Ghost Dance Research Paper The Ghost Dance was a religion or movement that combined Christianity and traditional Indian religion elements that served as a nonviolent form of resistance for Indians in the late nineteenth century. At the time, conditions were bad on Indian reservations and Native Americans needed something to give them hope or something to look forward too. So they created and turned to the Ghost Dance. The Ghost Dance movement all began with a dream in 1889 by a Paiute shaman named Wovoka. In his dream, he was taken into a spirit world and saw all Native Americans rising into the sky and the Earth opening up and swallowing all Whites and then returning back to its original state. The Native Americans were then put back on Earth so that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The market of bricks presented significant changes with the introduction of concrete blocks as the latter replaced common bricks in construction. This resulted to a shift of the market in producing facing bricks, used for aesthetic purposes (Figure 2). The use of facing bricks accounts for over 90% of demand (BGS, 2007) (DTI construction statistics) The production of facing bricks appears quite stable for the last seven years. Common and engineering bricks are still produced, but in 4 much lower quantities (Figure 2), whereas the manufacturing of facing bricks have expanded significantly and currently is described by several products with different colours, textures, surfaces and sizes. Clay tiles have also been affected by the introduction of concrete. Ceramic pipemaking has declined considerably due to competition from concrete and plastic pipes. The only

  • 5. Refugees In Brazil Research Paper The nation of Brazil believes that their is indeed a need for a solution to the refugee problem, that in Europe, and that in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Brazil is one of the biggest recipients of refugees in Latin America, with former Justice Minister EugГЄnio AragГЈo saying in June 2016, given the financial circumstances, that Brazil could take up to 100,000 refugees, 20,000 per year. The nationof Brazil has several reasons for accepting refugees into the country. With the acceptance of refugees, from both areas, Brazil increases the nation s international reputation within the community. Additionally, the nation of Brazil is in need of skilled workers, and refugees offer a solution to the resettlement problem, and fills this need the nation of Brazil has. Refugees offer a way for the nation of Brazil to boost its economy, and increase innovation within the country. As the Nation of Brazil s economy is in turmoil, the refugees could offer a solution to the economic problems, as they could boost the economy. This positive effects could certainly occur in other countries that refugees take refuge in, as if they are given the proper compensation, refugees can be an asset to a country.... • 6. Tomography Critique Article Critique #1 Authors of the article Computed Tomography An Increasing Source of Radiation Exposure commend the diagnostic advantages of computed tomography (CT), but declare there is evidence and concern of the discipline s overuse in various patient populations, especially pediatrics. Of the more than 62 million CT scans per year, almost 16% of these exams are performed on children (David Hall, 2007, para. 1). The article s title and abstract clearly pinpoint the dilemma. With the rising number of CT procedures, the authors cause for concern is three fold: radiation doses received by the patient, cancer risks tied to ionizing radiation exposure and potential for latent effects in the general public (David Hall, 2007). Unfortunately, the article s abstract is lacking as it did not summarize what methodology is utilized or state a conclusion of the author s findings. The authors begin defending their stance by providing several reasons for the recent surge of CT procedures: rapid technological advances, convenience to the patient and cost effectiveness (David Hall, 2007). The calculated dose a patient receives from a CT procedure is only an estimated exposure dose. To date, a patient s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Performing daily CT procedures on the pediatric population is one of my main job responsibilities. The authors provided numerous clinical examples, critical and ample sample evidence from radiation exposed populations and alternatives procedures to support and acknowledge that CT is often overused. The authors provide the percentages of CT procedures performed and study conclusions, but they did not reveal their methodology and instrumentation approaches. The content in the article is significant, but the authors data collection lacks evidence and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Privacy Before And During The Job Privacy before and during the Job In today s world, privacy is something that is hard to come by. Every second of ever day a person is generally being watched. This could include traditional eye contact spying, but it goes much deeper. A person s social media can be stalked, a person could be caught performing a variety of actions on both security cameras and everyday cell phone cameras, keylogging software is out there that can track a person s every keystroke, email and phone conversations can be tapped and much more. A person that is applying for a job must be careful and they must carry that carefulness into the workplace with them. Privacyis an important aspect of a person life, this paper will look at a person s privacy rights during the hiring process, while they have the job, and the various court ruling that have been passed as a result of conflict in both areas. To start an examination of a person s social mediaprivacy will take place. Social media is extremely prevalent in today s culture. Over 65% of adults who have access to the internet use at least one form of social media. Some examples of social media include, but are not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Snapchat, Google +, and LinkedIn. • 8. Different Methods, Bacteria, And Development Transduction,... Through three different methods, bacteria can obtain new genetic material: conjugation, transduction and transformation Transduction is when a bacteriophage inserts it s DNA into the host bacteria cell, while conjugation is when the bacteria shares DNA through direct contact, eg. horizontal gene transfer. The third method, transformation, is the intake of external DNA into the cell (Chen and Dubnau, 2004). In order for bacteriato be able to take in extraneous DNA, they must first be in a state of competent (Hanahan, 1983). There are two types of transformation cells in transformation: natural competence and artificial competence. Natural transformation can occur in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria, but have different pathways to take in the new DNA. There are several ways to induce competence onto some bacteria cells, that are not naturally competence. Cells can be treated to heat shock, starved of nutrients, the use of electroporation or keep in ionic solutions to induce competence by increasing the permeability of the membrane (Van der Rest et al., 1999). Plasmids are circular double stranded DNA found in bacteria that can encode for basic necessary functions (Couturier, et al., 1988). Ampicillin (6[D( ) a aminophenylacetamido] penicillanic acid) is an antibiotic that is a derivative of penicillin and is can work against both gram negative and gram positive bacteria (Acred et al. 1962) The experiment insisted of insertion of plasmids that ... The Master s Degree program will enhance my ability to analyze weaknesses in our national security and develop problem solving skills that are required to be successful in today s ever evolving security within FPS and the Department of Homeland Security. The development of the Interagency Security Committee (ISC) that has established security standards for our government facilities is invaluable. If ISC standards would have been implemented in the past, many horrific tragedies would not have occurred at our federal facilities. It is imperative that these standards are improved upon to meet the security demands of the future. This can only happen through continued education and commitment to enhancing our security. The completion of this degree program will provide me the necessary skills to improve all aspects of security not only as a commander within FPS but in all areas of DHS. • 11. Literary Analysis Of I Wish I Were Her Nubian Girl The lyric poem, I wish I were her Nubian Girl is about a man describing his desires. The word Nubian from the title means to be a servant, which they were commonly known as in ancient Egypt. Because it is a lyric poem, it can be interpreted in several different ways. In the opening two lines of the poem, the author begins with repeating the title of the poem, which can exemplify its importance and meaning. I wish I were her Nubian girl, one to attend her (bosom companion) . The speaker, who is assumed to be a man because he wants to be in her service, and refers to himself as a Nubian, explicits his obsession. He is in awe and in loveof the landscape that he is admiring, and decides not to approach her. But, the speaker also confuses the reader but calling her Confidante (3), which means a well trusted womanfriend. This twists his claim around because he is in love with this woman, yet calls her a friend. A more disturbing perspective that the poem can take on is that the speaker wants to be the slave to this woman he admires. As mentioned before, the speaker considers the girl as a confidante, but then follows on to say that he wants to undress and take her virginity. O she ll give pleasure! in future, no grown man will deny it! But tonight, to me, this chaste girl bares unthinking the delicate blush/Of a most secret landscape, her woman s body (9 14). These lines also gave me pedophilic vibes because he calls the femalefigure a girl and it was interesting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Directional Receiver Design For Interference Management 1. Introduction A Macrocell user operating in the same band as femtocell users may cause unacceptably high interference levels, if it is close to the femtocell base station supporting the aforementioned femtocell users, and far away from its own macrocell base station. Additionally, the fact that femtocells can be deployed in an ad hoc fashion anywhere within a macrocell, and can be removed as easily, adds to the critical importance of interference management. Notwithstanding the importance of this issue, the concerns listed above renders jointly optimal design of the two networks impractical due to the complexity and overhead associated with a large dynamic network. Consequently, a computationally manageable yet effective interference management strategy is needed. Interference management has been an important design element for multiuser systems in the past two decades. Judicious receiver design for interference limited systems, e.g., CDMA, and multiuser MIMO, proves useful for interference cancellation [3]. In addition to multiuser detection, transmit power control [4], and joint design of transmitters and receivers [5], [6] offer interference mitigation needed in interference limited systems. We note that while our approach does not involve explicit frequency partitioning between the tiers, i.e., relies solely on the space dimensions, allowing for greater flexibility, it is possible to have our scheme accompany a frequency partitioning scheme and increase the number ... • 15. Miss America Pageant Reflection By John Oliver Humor s powerful, influential qualities that key in on deficient human behaviors combined with societal constructs that evolve from them in a way that reveals their absurdity, often to a hilarious degree, is what makes satire entertaining and, often, interestingly informative. Comedians that engage in satire deliver a message that may be considered rude if spoken by any other means. Satire disarms the audience and pardons the comic from responsibility for their criticisms, and is an especially powerful tool in repressive political and social realms. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver uses the satirical news format as a means to address the ridiculousness of beauty pageants as it continues to objectify women in a climate in which social constructs are shifting towards feminist equality and persuasion of the audience to agree with the commentary. Considering the context of the Miss America Pageant reflection by John Oliver in his satirical news program, his goal is to select a particular topic to deconstruct and discuss the inadequacies with a humoristic flair. The social climate from the early 20th Century introduction of the Miss America Pageant to current day is vastly different, and while the pageant evolved over the last 90 plus years, the basic tenets remain. Today s woman is considered to be independent, strong, intelligent and the physical appearance is but a side note. This movie was written to represent the Red Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were forced to give names of others who they thought were communists or else they would be punished. If the communist actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other s careers. Some of the people refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors stood up for what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not very willing to support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn t want to risk their own reputation and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those falsely convicted, and exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing about it in order to protect themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture s main character is a marshal named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He s asked by the townspeople to relocate because a few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding to the advice of the townspeople, Cain stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of the villains. People slowly remove themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to face his enemies alone. High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone. Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle, in the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the marshal s face, the weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar, and punched one of the men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his ... Creation Of The Sistine Chapel s Accomplishments In 1508, Pope Julius II wanted a geometric ornament and the placement of twelve Disciples in spandrels (spaces between two arches) around the decoration to cover up the original blue ceiling covered in stars. The task was asked to thirty three year old sculptor, Michelangelo, who although at the time did not want to paint the ceiling, proposed the idea of old testament stories along the ceiling. The first stories showcased are The Creation of the Heavens and Earth, The Creation of Adam and Eve, The Expulsion from the Garden of Eden, and the story of Noah and the Great Flood. When the painting was first begun, the painting, The Deluge, showed multiple figures that were small in size that had very complex stories. In 1510, after a yearlong ... The longest restoration process to date was ran by a group of conservators including Gianluigi Colalucci, Maurizio Rossi, and Piergiogio Boretti. In 1979, a chemical compound, AB 57, was tested on the East Wall. AB 57 is a calcium dissolving solvent, a solution made up of ammonium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, desogen (anti fungal acid), and carboxyl methyl cellulose, which is then dissolved in water, developed by Professor Paulo and Laura Mora. It was made to remove insoluble salts and materials that had been incrusted into the paintings, and ended up being able to bring very bright colors into the painting. When the AB 57 was to be applied, it would have to sit for three minutes, and then taken off by washing it with water. Following that it would dry for twenty four hours, and this application process would be repeated again. Another chemical called B 72 was also used to seal the walls lunettes (Ancestors of Christ), but this process was quickly thrown out. Relationship between Teller and Tale in The Merchant s Tale and The Wife of Bathe A relationship is usually seen between the teller of a tale and the tale that he or she decides to share. Chaucer s pilgrim, the Merchant, uses his feelings on marriage to teach a lesson in his tale. The Wife of Bathe also relies on her life experience to tell her tale. The two relationships in the tales can then be compared. In his prologue, the Merchant recounts how he despises being married. The husband is the one who gets the bad end of the deal, which is exactly how the Merchant feels in his marriage. The Wife of Bathe has married five men and has a completely different opinion of marriage than the Merchant. She enjoys being married and wants to have control over the marriage. This isn t exactly what she finds in her life, therefore, in her tale, she creates the ending to her approval. Although it is the wife who is always looking for a husband in her personal life, in the Wife s tale, it is the man who is forced to find what it is that all women desire. In the end he is obligated to marry, while the Wife is always excited to marry her next husband. The Wife wants the woman in the marriage to make the decisions and to have power, which is also seen in the old woman in her tale. In her tale, the old woman basically tricks the man into marrying her, and then into kissing her. This gives her control and she can then reveal her true self. Both of the tellers attitudes can easily be seen in the tales they share. The Merchant gives the negative view of marriage while the Wife s encounter is triumphant for women. The Wife enjoys being married, which is evident by the number of husbands that she has had. The Merchant has been married two months and hates every part of it. • 23. The End Of Times Analysis The End of Times or the Beginning of Times C.S Lewis The Last Battle brings up metaphorical ideas about how the end of times happens and leaves the reader lingering about what happens next. Lewis mentions the great giant, Father Time as a figure in The Last Battle, who when woken will interfere with the dynamics of Narnia and the conception of time. As Aslan awakens Father Time, Narnia becomes shaken up and the concept of time becomes ambiguous leading to the end of time for Narnia. In the end, monsters are devouring Narnia, leading the inhabitants of Narnia to escape the old Narnia in order to enter a new, and more real Narnia. As the monsters devour Narnia, the remains of Narnia become this blank, new world, which could be interpreted as the beginning of a world (the beginning of Narnia or the beginning of the real world), making The Chronicles of Narnia a book without an end. Roger uses his company to use some of the loan money to buy shares in Hawthorn Blood Supplies Co Ltd to boost its share price and then sell it. By giving Roger this loan Hawthorn Blood Supplies Co Ltd will subsequently reduce its capital and put shareholder s and creditors at risk. This would breach s260A1 (a). Love is representative in friendship and family. Hate is representative in revenge of the aristocracy. Lucie s love is very evident for her friends and family, but her friends and family s have been just as evident. Dickens shows that love overcomes hate, but with consequences when Darnay gives up his family name for the good of France but is still sentenced to death, when Miss Pross loses her hearing as result of defending the hypothetical life of Lucie Manette, and when Carton gives up his life for Lucie s happiness. Critical Success Factors Of A Firm s Performance Critical success factors are measures of those aspects of a firm s performance that are essential to its competitive advantage and, therefore, to its success (Blocher, Stout, Juras, Cokins, 2013). One of the original uses of Critical Success Factors as a concept is by McKinsey and Company in Boston during the 1950s to determine how a corporation should compete in each of its many businessunits (Isakson Sircar, 1990). As can be seen by the above quote, for a company in the real estatebusiness all of these critical success factors are either dependent upon or relate to the service provided by the firm. If a company is not providing the level or type of service which consumers are demanding, then none of the critical success factors mentioned above will show a positive position or future for the company. A generational change in the needs and wants of consumers in the real estate business has caused the growth of what the traditional service providers are calling hybrids, such as Redfin, Help A Sell, and Xome, which provide services to consumers that focus heavily on technological innovation and cutting cost for their customers (Inman, 2015). The main reason that leads him to write the literary work is that he became obsessed with his own image and felt embarrassed with the criticism that was given to him. Furthermore, Byron was warned by his close friends not to publish his literature with his name or the result would be facing the consequences by other Romantic critics. Lay le Freine explores themes of patience being rewarded, of the oppressed turning out to be noble, and of identity establishment. Le Freine and her mother form a central conflict within the moral structure of the tale that condemns envy and rewards kindness. The mother is so envious of the birth of her neighbour s twins that she spreads a rumour that a woman only gives birth to twins if they belong to two different men. Through this subplot, Lay le Freine includes reference to the extensive superstition about whether or not a woman is virtuous if she gives birth to twins. The presence of this superstition may reflect the court s strictness about reproduction levels, particularly to do with the poor, during the medieval times during which this was written. Pressure from the court, the church, as well as embarrassment within society could have often lead to the abandonment of a child; such as le Freine. As the viewer can tell, this is a story of time and life. The memories start in the background where all is well and things are straight and calm. Moving on to the cliff, the observer possibly sees a well behaved teenager. There is nothing horrible here that leads the spectator to gasp, and the viewer knows this person made it through that time in their life. Although this clock seems to be melting like the others in the picture, the fly plays an important part in this painting. Being the painting is named, The Persistence of Memory, the fly leads the onlooker to think these memories might not be as old as the rest. Flies are drawn to items that are rotting but still have some nutritional value; this clock is fresh enough to have more value than the other clocks around it, giving the spectator the thought that maybe while the clock is a memory, it is not distant and is still brought to the frontal lobe now and then to be revisited. After looking beyond the focal point, to the left of that clock and even a little bit closer is a pocket watch. This watch is in a contrasting orange color. This is the only orange used in the painting. The placing of the pocket watch is strategic, as it too is on the shelf with the most recent memory, but the line and angle of the shelf automatically pulls your eye to it. The pocket watch is closed and highly decorated with black. Although, the viewer cannot make out what the clock is decorated in, it seems to convey that this clock is very important to the scene. The onlooker might even see this as a memory that has not been opened yet. Something grand will take place in this time line portrayed by this painting. Character Analysis Of Huckleberry Finn In Huckleberry Finn, Huck acts like an animal because for most of his life he was out on his own being able to do what he wanted to due to his father drinking all the time and not caring about Huck. Soon he is adopted by the lonely Widow Douglas and her sister Miss Watson. The two sisters try to civilize Huck and make him acceptable to society by giving him spelling books, putting him in nice clothing, making him sit up straight and behave, and a few other things, but Huck did not like reading or spelling, thought that the clothing was itchy and annoying, and could only think of getting away. I believe he acts this way because being out on his own has made him create his own morals and rules since for most of his life until he was taken in by the widow he has not had any authority figure to tell him to do stuff or not to do stuff. He has not even had to go to school until he is forced by his new caretakers. Also, with his dad being an abusive alcoholic, Huck probably does not have much respect for authority or ever wants to have a father or mother figure at the beginning of the story. When you think about it, Huck sees two kinds of adults, the civilized like the Widow Douglas, and the uncivilized like his dad. • 43. How The Different Mixing Methods Affected The Final Volume... Figure one shows how the different mixing methods affected the final volume of the mayonnaise. It is expected that as the mixing methods gained speed and applied more shear force, the mayonnaise would have more volume. This was seen in the data. The biggest volume of mayonnaise achieved was done by a blender and by a homogenizer. The blender that yielded a low volume product was because the emulsionbroke, which explains why a large volume was not seen. The high speed homogenizer also had problems with the mayo, which explains their low volume yield. A mayonnaisemade with a lot of shear force is expected to have a greater volume because the higher the sheer force, the smaller the oil droplets would be. This means that there were smaller oil droplets which allowed more total droplets to be incorporated into the mayonnaise. More droplets leads to a higher volume because there is more surface area in the mixture of the internal and external phase. The emulsion also remained stable due to the smaller droplets, which will be looked at in detail later. Since the mayo was more stable, none of the emulsion broke during the time between preparing the mayonnaise for analysis and when it was actually analyzed. Overall, the results seen in figure one were generally expected. Figure two shows the effect of different mixing methods and their effect on various texture indicators of the mayonnaise. These indicators were thickness, viscosity, and separation. It is expected that the higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
