Bronze Age Catastrophes
The Bronze Age started around 2300 BC in Europe and it consisted of the new found material of
bronze. It was an important development in many cities during the time. Bronze was used for a
multitude of items including weapons, chariot parts, tools, decorative objects, and ritual vessels.
The bronze age eventually came to an end because of four major catastrophes that came around
1200 BC that help shape the first millennium. Climate change, migration, new technology, and
administrative innovations was the origin of this change. One of the first catastrophe that came and
helped end the bronzeage was climate change. Around 1200 BC many regions in Afro Eurasia were
used to having rapid population growth and prospering agriculture life. During... Show more content

able to have improvement with iron tools. There were many negatives that came out of the the
ending to the bronze age but it became a new start for new kingdoms. Humanity was able to evolve
and grow within their cities. Communications had improved with empires establishing roads

The Current And Future Structure Of The Music Industry
1221581
Report critically discussing the current and future structure of the music industry in the United
Kingdom.
In this written report I shall be critically discussing the current and future structure of the music
industry in the United Kingdom.
The current structure can be laid out in the following manner:
Source: (Dustry, 2015)
PART 1 Labels, publishers and the Live Sector.
Labels
Firstly the focus of this report will be on the roles and the position of music labels. There are two
types of music label; a major label and an indie (independent label). A music label is a separate
entity which will supply an agreement between the artist and the label for a certain number of
tracks to be recorded, manufactured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following on further from this, the label then pays the artist royalties from sales. In more recent
times, both indie and major labels are including what is known as Ancillary Rights . Essentially,
this is a clause that labels add into a contract that states that they receive a cut of artist s earnings
which aren t directly related to the recording and release process. For example, should the artist sell
out and perform a huge capacity venue, the label would then expect a percentage of that live income.
Writing about indie labels in The Music Industry handbook , Rutter states Historically, many indies
have grown to become larger corporate structures, whereby their artists have become successful
through healthy consumer interest. Major music companies also work with successful
independents to upscale their operations; the major s powerful promotion and distributions
mechanisms facilitate greater product exposure for a percentage of the proceedings (Rutter, 2011)
Publishers
Publishers, or the act of publishing, entails an organisations acquirement of the copyrights to an
artist s material. We can look at the role of a publisher for both a songwriter, a performer, and an
artist who both writes their music and goes out to perform. Publishers will dedicate time, money,
energy and passion into an artist s career and help them to develop their songs into the industry.
Once a writer has completed a piece of music, there are

The Pros And Cons Of Stadium Subsidy
Sports subsidies have become the main way to finance a lot of the stadiums being built all
around the United States. A stadium subsidy is a sort of government subsidy provided for a
professional sports team to help invest in the building or improvement of sports stadiums. Even
though these subsidies are occurring that does not mean that they are good. As a matter of fact
they do more harm than good to the economy of the area the stadium is built in. This situation
brings in taxes, business collapse, and really no solid evidence after research has been done on
the economic boost of these stadium subsides. The government should be shut down from giving
out subsidies to sports franchises for the construction of the new stadiums because of all the
harm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the area by the stadium may flourish other parts of
the city could be kicked out of business. Also no matter if the sports franchise is a winning
franchise, the more distance the sports stadium is from the main part of town, there is more of a
chance of economic collapse (Jacobson 25). It is very hard to have a flourishing city all around if
one side of town is getting the majority of business. If a city plans to have a better economy,
building a new sports stadium is not the way to go. Most of the time the stadiums do not work
out economically. That does not mean that stadiums can not work out in a city but just that the
fact that the city will not become rich off of this introduction of a stadium (Jacobson 23). There
are a lot of sports cities that struggle because of new stadiums coming into their community and
a lot of businesses that have gone out of business because of this. The government should stop
giving out this free money to big money franchises.
Lastly there have been studies all over to test and see the value or nonvalue of

one nose landing gear leg and two main landing gear legs. When using a tricycle gear, around
13% of the total weight of the airplane acts down on the nose landing gear and 87% acts down

The center of gravity on the A320 must be between 17% and 38, 5% on the Mean Aerodynamic

Racism Without Racists By Eduardo Bonilla Slave
As an international student from China, I did not experience serious discrimination as black
people did; I did not feel strong oppression as LGBT group did; however, I was indeed treated in
a different way, which was racist and discriminated. When I read the materials from class, I felt I
had experienced the exactly same thing in my life. Segregation, which was written by Eduardo
Bonilla Slave in his book: Racism without Racists, still happened today in my life; marginalization
and powerlessness, which were proposed by Iris Young in her book: Five Faces of Oppression,
were common problem for all Chinese nonimmigrants. Nonimmigrants were not equal to illegal
residents. Nonimmigrants meant those who held Visas while studying or working in the U.S.
Nonimmigrants had the chances to apply for United StatesPermanent Resident Cards and then
applied for United States citizenships to become Chinese Americans. However, they never get the
chanced to be real Americans and enjoy the same rights as Americans did. To change this situation,
Chinese nonimmigrants must get more political rights and more voice in the government, which
was hard but a goal for every Chinese nonimmigrants to achieve. Initially, Chinese nonimmigrants
and Chinese Americans contributed a lot to American economic and technological development.

Marketing Involving Hispanic Americans and the Internet Essay
The Hispanic American culture in the United States is becoming increasingly important in
marketing and consumer behavior. This segment has different preferences, values and attitudes
towards a variety of products than average United States consumer. The Hispanic population in
America is the fastest growing, not only the largest minority population now, but their collective
purchasing power exceeds $400 billion (Mongrain). In conjunction with this, the internethas also
proven to be a vital marketingtool in the last decade. Internet uses typically represent a population
segment with higher incomes and greater levels of education. Two of the fastest growing marketing

It has been found that a much larger percentage of the Hispanic population lives in the western
United States than the general population and the smallest percentage in the Midwest. Interestingly,
the Internet Use by Region in the United States by Pew Internet American Life Project found the
greatest internet penetration among Hispanics in the Upper Midwest, at 67%, which far exceeds
the total internet usage of 59%. Other regions with larger Hispanic populations also have high
number of internet penetration, for example the Mountain region (including Colorado and
Nevada) and the Mid Atlantic region (including New York and New Jersey) have 63% and 62%,
respectively. Differences in habits not only exist between Hispanics in separate regions of the US
but also between Hispanics of different races.
The declaration of Hispanic dominance is a commonly mentioned turning point among those
companies targeting, or realizing they need to target, this diverse market. However, reaching the
US Hispanic market is more challenging than is often assumed. Not only are Hispanics the largest
single ethnic group in the US, they re not even a single racial group. People of Hispanic background
come from different nations, live in different regions, and enjoy different cultures; even the
language, which is often thought to connect all Hispanics, has many different dialects that divide it.

article about the plague of hooliganism in Turkish football, Altay (2015) declares: Turkey is

considered as one of the possible reasons for hooliganism in Turkey. On the other hand, an article
published in Reuters by Davis (2014) indicated that Italy is famous for its ultras , groups of
hardcore fans who are frequently behind the stadium violence which has dogged all levels of the
country s football since the 1970s (para.22). Such directories along with numerous other evidences

football hooliganism, which in fact has several threats, causes, effects, and violence aspects to be
considered in relation to the modern football. That s why hooliganism is a very controversial topic
and one of its debates centers on whether hooliganism constitute the main problem in modern
football or there are other major concerns that dominate over it as the financial corruptions and the

The Heart Of Cardiac Muscle Essay
INTRODUCTION The cardiac muscle, more commonly known as the heart muscle, is quite
different from the more familiar know skeletal muscle. Unlike skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle is
able to conduct its own electrical impulses allowing it to contract and relax spontaneously without
being told to by the brain or any other organ (Marieb, Mitchell, p. 512). This is due to the constant
leakage of sodium ions into the mainly potassium filled cells which then eventually lead to action
potentials causing the heartto beat rhythmically (Mariev, Mitchell, p.512) this rhythm is more
commonly referred to as one s heartbeat. From this BIOPAC laboratory, the student(s) should learn
how different stimuli will affect a resting heart rate. Due to the fact that cardiac muscleis able to
create action potentials on its own, a change in chemical, temperature, and ionic balance causes the
heart to react differently and change its rhythm of beats by either slowing down or speeding up.
More specifically, by saturating the heart with histamine the heart rate should speed up, while
pilocarpine will cause the heart to substantially slow, and finally the addition of epinephrine will
cause the resting heart rate to speed up.

Loneliness In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Almost everyone, in the book Of Mice and Men, was lonely in some type of way. The town
Soledad actually means solitude, implying that loneliness was a definite theme in the book
(Leaf). For instance Crooks, the black stable hand lives alone. Being the only black person on
the ranch, he often keeps his distance from the others (Steinbeck 74). He cannot work with
other, because of his crooked back, taking away his opportunity to ever work with the other men
(Steinbeck 66). He loved to read and because he was so lonely he liked to clean to occupy his time
(Steinbeck 67). He s not allowed to stay in the bunkhouse because the others do not like to
socialize with him. Crooks feel like no one likes him because he is black. He says in the book, Guys

He states that guys who work alone for so long get desperate, but because he has a friend that
does not include him (Steinbeck 17). George s loneliness can be implied because he has taken
on the responsibility of a mentally ill man. He does not have a life without Lennie; he doesn t
know what it feels like to live without Lennie. George is constantly occupied by Lennie, and
never a moment to himself (Gray). He explains that without Lennie he could possibly get a girl
and although George appreciates Lennie, he is not pleased with Lennie s bad judgment
(Steinbeck 91). When George kills Lennie, he becomes one of the lonely stable hands that he
excluded himself from being in the beginning (Steinbeck 106). Candy is also lonely, he is forced
to be isolated because he has a disability and is not able to do much (Steinbeck 59). He also had a
dog that no one wanted to be around because he smelled so bad, that dog was Candy s only
friend (Steinbeck 44). Further, when his dog is shot ultimately Candy does not have anything to
live for, this is the reason he decides to latch on to George and Lennie (Steinbeck 60). George
also dreams of getting rid of Lennie. He tells Lennie multiple times in the book that he wishes he
didn t have to look after Lennie, or what he could be doing if he didn t have Lennie at his side
(Steinbeck 11). Readers can interpret that George often wishes or dreams that he didn t have to be

Celtic Mythology and Folklore
Many people today can associate with the classic tale of leprechauns and a pot of gold at the end
of a rainbow. This tale is a recurring myth within the realm of Celtic mythology. Celtic mythology
was an integral part of ancient history throughout the British Isles especially Ireland. Authors of
this magnificent form of literature have created stories that were based on the events of that time
period and their works have transcended to future generations up until today. Overall, Celtic
mythology and folklore has had a magnanimous impact on the world in lending itself for priceless
amusable, educational, and historical excellence. Celtic mythology is the mythological literature
from approximately the fourth century B.C. extending to approximately the early third century as
Christianity was spreading and more of Celts were converting to Christianity. After converting,
the Celts dropped all traces of their former religion to be found by subsequent inhabitants of their
lands. First the stories and tales were told by oral tradition and later written down by bards, poets,
and monks. This literature could be found across Ireland, Wales, Scotland, bits of England, and
smatterings of Europe [insert citation from godchecker.com]. Generally speaking the ancient Celtic
religion like many other societies and civilizations at that time was polythestic as well as animistic
with various gods and deities dedicated to the various parts of the natural world. Over the colossally

Ignorance In Two-Handed Swords
Are two handed swords as fictionally viable as people say? When many think of a two handed
sword, they think of an overweight behemoth usually only seen in tv shows, movies, and video
games. This association, though not unreasonable, is not fair to the credit of actually used
historical two handed swords. It s apparent that some don t know how they fit in in a historical
sense. Ignorance is further spread when ceremonial and decorative two handers are mistaken for
the real thing. Although, they are probably most misrepresented in video games and anime

types of swords. In this paper, it will be referring to longswords, greatswords, bastard ... Show more

From what I ve read, there are even numerous museums that put ceremonial two handers on
display and do not specify that they were not meant for use. I actually had the chance see a
decorative two handed sword recently. After giving it a few swings and testing the weight, it
seemed as though it was supposed to be imitating a type of bastard sword, or hand and a half
sword. This assumption was somewhat accurate. After some research, it was discovered to be a
replica of the sword used by William Wallace in the movie Braveheart. However, this does not
make it historically accurate, as the sword from Braveheart is a historically inaccurate replica of
the actual sword that was used by the real William Wallace. The sword from Braveheart has a
basic flat crossguard and leather covering about a fifth of the blade from the hilt. The historical
sword used by William Wallace has a crossguard that ends curling up and inwards toward the blade
and no actual leather covering the blade. This is confirmed further in the article The Scottish

Many people believe that the passing of Death With Dignity Laws is a slippery slope that will
lead to a variety of unethical medical practices including the use of these laws on mentally ill or
Alzheimer s patients. In all of the states that passed the law there are strict guidelines as to how
can access the law and in many cases the laws have not changed since they were passed. The laws
come from the idea that terminally ill people should be able to control how they suffer and
ultimately how they die without interference from the government, religious organizations, or other
external sources of policy. Although a patient may have the lethal dose of prescription provided by
their physician under the law in their possession they have absolutely no obligation to use it and in
many they don t. In cases where the medication is taken the patients who choose to take it have self
control and more dignity than they would if they had to suffer through the degenerative processes
of a terminal illness. Linda Waite Simpson, Vermont director of the Death With Dignity advocacy

Charles Frazier s Use of Music in Cold Mountain Essay
Charles Frazier s Use of Music in Cold Mountain The American Civil War was a bitter, grief filled
conflict with oddly musical overtones. A Southern soldier, Alexander Hunter, recalled that There
was music in plenty, (Lawrence 169) just as Charles Frazier s character Stobrod in Cold Mountain
remarks that there was so much music back then (407). While both the Union and the Confederacy
placed great import on music, Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier focuses primarily on the Southern
perspective of the war, in all of its aspects. Spiritual music gave soldiers hope, gave them something
cheerful to listen to after their days of slogging through the grime of human remains, as Inman

It was said that the book most commonly owned by a Civil War soldier was a Bible, followed
closely by a songbook, also known as a songster (Waller and Edgington 147). This was
particularly true in the case of the black regiments that fought under the Confederate flag; because
of the deep musical heritage carried by the African Americans from their homeland, it was only
natural that they in turn transformed well known spirituals and ballads into music suitable for
wartime. Captain George Sutherland noted that the black soldiers life was full of either music or
religion, and although this statement related directly to a Negro regiment it could have also been
applied universally, to the entirety of both armies (Wilson 148). Religion and music have long
been associated, and this union was not broken by the splitting of the United States. Rather, it was
strengthened as the fighters searched desperately for a sold ideal to hold on to amidst the carnage
many found their salvation through music. All faith based hymns were not necessarily peaceful
and loving, however; ballads such as God Save the South! by R.S.A. proclaimed the South s divine
right to succession with lyrics such as God save the South! Still let this noble band, Joined now in

Kant Evil
Everyone wants a good will, representing a true heart and good impressions towards people. A
good will has a lot of definition like talents, courage, respects...etc. On the other hand, it can be
very negative like disrespectful, harming or hurting people. As Kant said Understanding, wit, the
power of judgment, and like talents of the mind, whatever they might be called, or courage,
resoluteness, persistence in an intention, as qualities of temperament, are without doubt in some
respects good and to be wished for; but they can also become extremely evil and harmful, if the
will that is to make use of these gifts of nature, and whose peculiar constitution is therefore called
character, is not good. (Kant, Ak 4:393) For example, a girl is born... Show more content on

I think it is all right to have a purpose behind the duty, but it should be depends on the whether the
purpose is negative or positive. If the purpose is positive, I think it can be considered as duty.
For example, a person donates his organs to a patient, his purpose is to help the patient instead
of his own happiness, or there is a situation that the patient is important to the donor. Both of the
situations are out of good will, a good purpose, so it should be considered as a good, moral duty.
To conclude, I believed a good will is built naturally, inborn but there are factors from the
growing environment like family background, peer pressure that affects the good will. These may
makes people become evil. On the other hand, I believed no matter there is no purpose or positive
purpose behind can be considered as duty. The Kant s idea of duty is no purpose behind because he
thinks duty should not benefit to ourselves but others. Sometimes positive purposes also benefit to
others instead of benefit to

Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close By Jonathan Safran Foer
3 Parallel Events: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
The book Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close contains many aspects of the real life hardships
of 9/11 and the Holocaust, as well as the mystery of the Sixth Borough of New York. These events
help create a better understanding of life under the influence of conflict and the choices characters
are forced to make as a result of the conflict. Jonathan Safran Foer s novel focuses on a boy named
Oskar who loses his father in the destruction of the Twin Towers, his mute grandfather s grief, and
the stories of the Sixth Borough his father told him. The history told in this novel comes from
multiple generations, which helps create a greater range of understanding grief. The novel interprets

Foer explains the mystery of the borough through Mr. Schell s storytelling: But even though most
people will say they have no time for or reason to believe in the Sixth Borough, and don t believe
in the Sixth Borough, they will still use the word believe (217). After the death of his father,
Oskar never forgot the Sixth Borough as he searched for clues of the existence of the Sixth
Borough all around New York City.
The Holocaust was a traumatic event in the 1900s, and it had major consequences on Oskar s
Grandfather. Both of Oskar s grandparents lived through the upheaval of World War 2, but his
grandfather s beloved, Anna, did not. Traumatized by the event, his grandfather turned mute as he
could no longer speak of things that reminded him of Anna, who died in the Bombing of
Dresden. Foer translates Thomas Schell Sr. s thoughts, I haven t always been silent, I used to talk
and talk and talk and talk, I couldn t keep my mouth shut, the silence overtook me like a cancer
(16). The Bombing of Dresden was only a small part of the holocaust, but impacted the Schell s
lives forever. Loss

Theodore Roosevelt s Influences
Theodore Roosevelt was a really interesting man with opinions that changed the world. Roosevelt
is known for a great life. He was known as a trust buster. And he shaped the way politics are now.
Theodore Roosevelt influenced the modern U.S. in many ways. Theodore Roosevelt is known
for how he grew up and how he died. Theodore Roosevelt s childhood was hard and rough. When
he was a child he had asthma which was hard for him. He also had a weak heart, so the doctors
told him to get a desk job when he grew up and not strain himself. He went to Harvard University,
then after that, he went to Columbia Law School. He didn t stay long at law school because he
was too smart. Theodore Roosevelt s death was very sad for the whole country. He died from...

He was good with knowing when to attack. He always found the right time and place to make an
action. He liked to plan ahead because this gave him the edge to breaking the monopoly or trust.
He never gave up on breaking a trust or a monopoly. Even after he failed he never gave up. He
tried everything he could to break trusts and monopolies. Roosevelt tried to use his Presidential
powers to break trusts and monopolies. He made laws to make it easier for him to break trusts
and monopolies. He tried to use all his presidential powers by making laws. Roosevelt passed 6
laws to make it easier for him as a president, and as a trust buster. One of the specific laws he
passed was called the Sherman Act. This law declared illegal for all combinations in restraint of
trade. This law ultimately failed because whenever he tried to use it in court the judge either just
denied it or the judge found a way around it. This means that the Sherman Act did not help
Roosevelt break any trades or monopolies. Roosevelt was looking for a major monopoly to break,
and he came across J.P. Morgan. Roosevelt came at this case aggressively because he really
wanted to take down this monopoly. J.P. Morgan controlled a large chunk of railroads, and
railroad shipping in the northern U.S. with a company known as the Northern Securities. Morgan
was one of the most wealthy men in the U.S. because of his one large monopoly. One morning
Morgan s phone rang, and when he found out that Roosevelt was attacking his business he was
very angry. Morgan was angry because Roosevelt was treating like a common criminal, Morgan
ended up going to the white house and a compromise had to be found in court. Roosevelt ended up
breaking his first major monopoly

Outcome Practice

Understanding and implementation of outcome based practice within my work setting.
Outcome based practice is to deliver a service which is measured by the outcomes of the support
delivered.
From the initial stages of referral it is made clear what outcomes are expected to be achieved or
worked towards. An individual s care co ordinator will draw up a pen picture representing the
individual and disclosing details of the support that they require and a summary of their character,
within this pen picture, required outcomes will be stated and it s down to us to detail how we can
meet these outcomes within our practice. A required outcomemay state:

It is of upmost importance that the systems and processes used are in favour of the promotion of
well being. Many professional parties involved in the care of an individual have many different
systems and many different processes so to avoid confusion I will focus on some applicable to our
organisation.
The initial care needs assessment has a huge impact on the individual s well being as first
contact with a service which will be playing a huge part in the delivery of your care can be quite
daunting. It is important to make the individual feel valued, empowered and in control of their
own care package. A good care needs assessment will reflect the individual s wants, dreams,
aspiration s and how they want their life to be, it will highlight their true needs as well as their
strengths.
The review process should have the same result as the above and should ensure that changes are
monitored, progress mapped and new goals and targets are set, it is imperative that the care plan
gives a true and current reflection of the individual in order for them to receive the correct support.
Lead practice that promotes individuals health and choices and control over the outcomes they want
to achieve (O3.3, O3.4, O4.4)

Systematic Review The purpose of a systematic review is to attempt to find, evaluate and
synthesize high quality research relevant to the research question. A systematic review uses
carefully developed data collection and sampling procedures that are put in place in advance as a
protocol. (Polit, 2012). A systematic reviewmust contain the following: a clear inclusion and
exclusion criteria, an explicit search strategy, systematic coding and analysis of included studies,
and a meta analysis if possible. (Hemingway Brereton, 2009). Systematic reviews are conducted by

In examining the association between working conditions and patient outcomes, the eleven studies
contained a total of fourteen different patient outcome variables. The association between autonomy
and patient outcomes were examined in two studies. Six studies measure the philosophy
emphasizing the quality of clinical care and the association with patient outcomes.
Nurse participation was examined in regards to the relationship between nurse participator and the
patient outcomes, as well as the association between supportive managers and patient outcomes.
Other areas that were examined were collaborative relationships with physicians, supportive
relationships with peers, staffing and decentralization, patient centered climate and busyness.
The findings of this systematic review suggest that evidence supporting a positive relationship

Who Were The Phoenicians
Who Were the Phoenicians?
Thanks to the Phoenicians, this essay can be written and read. They created the first known
alphabet; in which some of the letters are still used in today s alphabet. The Phoenicians were not
known for being the big and strong empire, but for their many modern inventions. Much of what is
known about the Phoenicians comes from the Greek historian Herodotus who documented
everything. Scientists today, still do not know a lot about them, but that does not hinder their
importance to the world.
Phoenicia is located in present day Lebanon and stretched through present day Syria, and Israel . In
1100 B.C, the Phoenicians started out as a strip of land on the east coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

The dye was so rare and expensive that only the rich could have it. Phoenicians were great traders
and traded all throughout the Mediterranean Sea. They traded anything and everything from things
like logs to wine to gold. Most of the economy s wealth come from trading.
The Phoenicians invented a lot of devices that are used today. A huge example of that, would be the
alphabet. Before the Phoenician invention of the alphabet, past civilizations used hieroglyphics to
document information and send messages. The reasoning behind the invention was the large
amount of trading the Phoenicians did. They needed a way to track the things coming and going
out of their port and possession. Some of the letters they created, are still used everyday in the
modern alphabet like the letters b and d for example.
The alphabet isn t the only invention that is still used everyday. Another one of their inventions is
the number Zero. Again, it was created to help merchants track their trading. The Phoenicians were
the first to create bireme; which were fast galleys. They had the best quality boats for their time.
Though the Phoenicians were not the first to create glass molding, but they changed the way it was
done; a technique that is still used today. Glass workers from Phoenicia developed

confidence and opening up. Being dropped in a room with twenty five strangers, all of which

began. Not only did everyone around me look and act different but they also talked differently;
at least I was told that I talked differently than they did. Towards the beginning of the week, being
labeled as different made me not want to talk. I stayed quiet for most of the week when I was in a

Examples Of Misunderstandings In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Misunderstandings
As represented in the story A Good Man Is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor, a good man was
hard to be and had different ideas of how to pursue it. Going through the journey with the
grandmother and son and learning about the Misfit, the audience can witness the actions being
made by different characters to witness their fall and/or their triumph.
When looking into the grandmother more deeply, the audience can detect the intensity of her self
absorption . She would consider herself a lady with high standards of herself. In case of an
accident, anyone seeing her dead on the highway would know at once that she was a lady (O
Connor 297). Even in the most gruesome cases, she would want to be known as being the high
status. Character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

three men arrive on the scene of the car in the ditch. Suddenly, the grandmother recognizes one of
the men as the Misfit. The grandmother began telling the Misfit I know you must come from nice

which revealed a change with the grandmother. The Grandmother reached up to adjust her hat... but

Operant Vs. Operant Conditioning
Operant Learning Model Operant conditioning is best described as the process that attempts to
modify behavior through the use of positive and negative reinforcement. During this process the
subject you are working with either animal or human learns to perform a specific task, through the
use of positive or negative reinforcement (Chance, 2014). This model is best suited for teaching Ben
the appropriate behavior as it relates to stealing. Operant conditioningwill be used to teach Ben not
to steal; this will be supported by the use of positive reinforcers. In order for this to be effective
Ben should be placed on a continuous reinforcement schedule; consisting of positive
reinforcements. These should be age appropriate; these reinforcers are verbal praise and 30
minutes of television (Cartoon Network); this will be rewarded only if he does not engage in
stealing. No forms of punishment will be used on Ben; although punishment has an immediate
effect it does not teach a lesson. With operant learning Ben will learn to decrease his negative
behavior and engage in positive actions.
Aggression with Spanking By nature children are naturally inclined to mock or imitate things that
within their environment. This why parents and or caregivers must be careful what we do and
expose children to. This is no different when it comes to learning and or discipline. Punishment
creates fear, aggression and most importantly the punished behavior is never forgotten; it lays

Persuasive Essay On Dress Code
Dress code is one of the most talked about topics amongst parents of children in school and teens.
Some schools have a reasonable dress code but others are just out of line. Kids all around the
world are being sent home and suspended because of the way they dress. Education is so much
more important than the way someone is dressed so it does not make sense for teachers and staff
members to cut into a kid s educationjust because they are not dressed to some people s
satisfaction. Although dress code is something all schools should have, some schools take it out of
hand. For example, in Sicklerville, New Jersey, an eight year old little girlwas not only sent home
from school but was suspended for a day fFor being out of dress code. Yyou would think that she
would have been wearing a shirtwith a curse word on it or be in her bathing suit because of how
harsh her punishment was, but no. Tthis little child was sent home because she was wearing thea
wrong shade of green. Some of her teachers felt that her shirt was not dark enough so they cut into
her education and embarrassed her all because of a plain, collared, light green shirt.
In a like manner, an senior at Westside High School in Dayton, Idaho, wore a dress that hit mid
thigh on her last day of school. Her school not only dress coded her but they threatened to take her
diploma. They would rather mess up a girl s education and future over something like the dress she
s wearing. They would rather embarrass her and cause

Change is Good A major theme in Inherit The Wind is the freedom of thought. This is a very

that is the only way they may think. If they think in a different way there are serious
consequences, such as jail time. This play challenges the old way of thinking with a new
approach that leads to the trail of a school teacher. The quote above shows how people were
scared to think because they were afraid they would be wrong and be punished. Rachel decided to

Essay about Why we believe in ghosts
English 1 research paper

Why people believe in ghosts.
Lying in bed in the middle of the night while sleep eludes me, a noise breaks through the silence.
Oh my God! What was that!? Maybe it was just my imagination, or maybe it was just the house
settling. There it is again! I must be hearing things. I get cold and my body starts to shiver
uncontrollably. I peek to where the sound comes from and I could swear I see something through
the dark room; it appears even darker than the surrounding area. Oh my! I think it just moved. My
breathing becomes labored and I pull the covers over my head, trying to calm myself down while
making my brain work through what just happened. Was I dreaming? Or did I just see a ghost?

The belief in Doppelgangers and poltergeist has also crossed the ocean over to the U.S. Many
people still report poltergeist activity in their homes.
Another example of a cultures belief in ghosts is Ireland s and Scotland s (also known as the
Celt s) belief in Samhain or All Hallow s Eve. Samhain is a festival that is celebrated from
October 31st to November 2nd. Samhain is a time of the year that celebrates the last harvest
before the winter comes, and is dedicated to the Lord of the Dead (Guiley 19). The Celt s believe
that the dead will come out of their final resting place and mess with the crops. Also, it is
believed that communication with the dead is easier during Samhain. It is said that the veil that
separates the living from the dead is at its thinnest during this time. The Lord of the Dead holds
a sentencing of spirits, where if they were good they can exist in the form of a human, and if
they were bad, the form of an animal. Offerings of food and drink are made to the Lord of the
Dead so he would not be so severe in his sentencing. Many Celt s would dress up on Samhain to
confuse the spirits that were roaming around so they wouldn t stop, but continue to pass them by
(Guiley 19). This festival is still celebrated today as Halloween. Currently, Americans hold by
some of the old traditions by dressing up and making offerings by handing out candy. Many Celt s
still hold beliefs in the old ways. Celt s also believe in what is

Neuromuscular Junctions
MUSCLE FIBERS AND EXERCISE:
Exercise leads to changes in muscle fiber size known as muscle hypertrophy, this increase in size
is a result of increasing muscle fiber diameter caused by exercise induced genes, such as
peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma coactivator 1О± (PGC 1О±). (Ruas, White, Rao,
Kleiner, Brannan, Harrison; 2012). As per Balice Gordon, Breedlove, Bernstein Lichtman (1990)
the Neuromuscular junction size is coupled, to a certain degree, to muscle fiber size. In contrast to
this, a study conducted on aged rats showed increased muscle fiber size in the soleus muscle with
exercise, but there was no increase in Neuromuscular junction size. Thus, some of the exercise
based changes of Neuromuscular junctions cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

physiological alterations results in a remodeling of the motor unit and in a decline of the number of

Two Other Aspects In The Health Category Are Life Expectancy
Two other aspects in the health category are life expectancy and infant mortality rates. The United

which this mortality rate seems high, but sadly are much higher ones out there. Oman has a life
expectancy rate of 76.59 years and an infant mortality rate of 16.8%, a little higher than the UAE s.
Saudi Arabiahas a life expectancy rate of 75.50 years and an infant mortality rate of 11.5%, a little

Saudi Arabia has a poverty rate of 12.7% and China, with the lowest, has a poverty rate of 6.1%.
China s poverty rate seems rather low, but when you do the math, they have about 78 million
people who are living below the poverty line, which is a little over eight times the population of the
United Arab Emirates. India and Oman have very similar poverty rates and the two highest in this
comparison. India has a rate of 29.8% and Oman, with the highest at 32%.
There must be some reason for the high poverty rates, let s look at the income inequality in all
seven of these countries, starting with the United Arab Emirates. The UAE has a Gini
coefficient, a statistical measure of the degree of variation or inequality represented in a set of
values, of 36% (Wikipedia, 2017). It also has a GDP per capita of $43,048.85, which seems very
high for a country with a 20% poverty rate. Oman, although I have not found a Gini coefficient,
has a GDP per capita of $21,929.01, which is about half of the UAE s. Saudi Arabia has a Gini
coefficient of 45.9% and it has a GDP like Oman s at $25,961.81. Brazil has a Gini coefficient of
51.1%, which means that the wealth isn t very spread around and many people are poor. Brazil s
GDP per capita is $11,208.08, which is almost four time lower than the UAE s, but maybe that is
because Brazil has a much larger population than the UAE. China has a Gini coefficient of 42.2%
and a low GDP per capita of $6,807.43. China

Organizational Value Of The Slavery
Essay 1
Organizational value of the slavery was an essential part of the Virginia and Chesapeake during the
eighteenth century. The social practices and attitudes that accompanied the skin color based
slavery system affected fundamentally all the fields of life. The slave system originated in early
seventeen century and slowly prospers with increasing family based servitude system in African
Blacks. Over the period of hundred years this slavery system became the critical component of the
Virginia society due to obstructive legal system and social practices. The basic reasons of
progression in slavery system in Chesapeake are fast growing agriculture system and need of
extensive labor in this proliferating endeavor. The initial purpose of using slaves is the increasing
demand of tobacco for export purposes but with time as slavery system entrenched in the society;
the African slaves were used extensively in expanding farming and agriculture industry.
The Chesapeake and the Virginia were the center of interest for many colonists as this region
provide high yield of tobacco whose demand start increasing globally. The Chesapeake provided a
significant portion of financial gain through the export of tobacco. In the early seventeen century,
the land of Chesapeake started to offer number of opportunities and ventures for different nations.
Due to this reason number of English men migrated from different regions to Chesapeake and

system race, sexual orientation, gender or anything that could be considered different between
people is not a factor in court. Major documents that are part of US history even state that all
men are created equal. Making certain variables to a person a factor in court is unlawful and
immoral. Even if someone is black or they might be attracted to the same sex still shouldn t
determine if someone goes to prison/jail. It should be based on if they are proven guilty or
innocent. When Mayella accused Tom of rape the sides were instantly on Mayella s.

The Sins of Yesterday Essays
He opened the door to the diner and stepped inside. The door slammed shut behind him. It always
did that. It was probably the reason why the pane of glass had a jagged crack running from top
to bottom. The crack had been there for as long as he could remember. It was a comfortable
reminder of why he came here: no one cared here. He sat in the same place he always sat: a booth
in the back near the bathroom. Dorothy, the only waitress this hole in the wall had to offer,
acknowledged him with a grunt and asked if he wanted anything. Just a cup of coffeeand some
pancakes, please. She oinked with indifference and waddled to the kitchen to put in the order. He
watched her pour coffee that probably originated from the same batch he ordered... Show more

Perhaps everyone else knew to stay away. The booth in the back allowed him to take in everything
in the diner at once, and see people enter and exit. Nick the cook sat at the booth opposite the
room from him, reading a newspaper and smoking a cigar. Nick wasn t a small man by any
means, but he was a piglet to Dorothy s mother sow. The acrid smoke from his cigar said it was a
Carajo, a cheap brand. His grizzled face, squinted eyes, and balding head made him look a lot
older than he knew him to be. Nick s pale t shirt and threadbare, faded jeans looked like they
were present at the same food explosion Dorothy must have survived, but neither one seemed to
notice. People came here to eat cheap food and try to escape their problems, not admire the view.
Nick mopped sweat from his brow with his greasy shirt sleeve, and turned the page. There were
two other people in the diner, both customers. He had not seen them before, and he could almost
say with certainty that he would not see them in this place again. They were of no consequence.
Most people who came in here for the first time left without coming back. It must be the food ,
he chuckled to himself. He had been coming to this diner for most of his adult life, though it
wasn t for the food or the service. The food was sub par and the service was worse. There was no
one here he knew outside of the diner, and he wasn t greeted as regular when he came. But he
always came here when

3D Art Case Study
1.The 2D manuscript painting on vellum of The Limbourg Brothers from the February calendar
was a beautiful lively artwork. The painting illustrates the frigid winter air by using the white
colors of the snow to cover the landscape. Proportion is used to portray the far distance at which
the center village lies. The individuals in the painting are also larger in size than the animals to
give a more realistic representation. The artist uses lines to create the edges of the farm building
built of wood. The top of the calendar uses a half circle shape in which to illustrate the dates.
Emphasis is given to the top of the calendar that displays the dates using a dark blue and gold color
to depict the night sky with constellations. The 3D sculpture... Show more content on

This 3D sculpture is providing balance with its symmetrical borders that surround Saint Mark.
Emphasis is placed on the center of the sculpture where Saint Mark is situated inside the empty
space off the sculpture. The 2D I found least aesthetically pleasing was the Flemish oil painting of
Jan Eyck, Portrait of Giovanni Arnolfini and Giovanna Genami. Although painted with an
astonishing level of realism, his use of proportion when painting the hands is disproportionally
small and seem flattened. This illustrates how marriage back then did not require the presence of
a priest or minister. The 3D German gothic Pieta made from polychromed wood was a disturbing
sculpture. The heads of the Virgin Mary and Jesus are larger than their bodies. Anatomical details
are exaggerated to emphasize the suffering Jesus endured. Repetition within the sculpture takes
form in the flowers of the pedestal in which the Virgin Mary sits. These flowers contrast with the
gruesome blood pouring from the body of Jesus. Overall this sculpture lacks color and looks like it
has a rough texture. These artworks all correlate to one another because they are within the 15th
century

The Tragedy Of Ferguson, Missouri
Tragedy in Ferguson, Missouri
Catherine Meeks

Research Paper
November 25, 2014
On August 9, 2014, a young, unarmed, 18 year old, black man named Michael Brown was shot
to death six times by 28 year old, white police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, a town
just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Some say Officer Wilson was protecting his life, I call it police
brutality. The brutality has led to an uproar of all day protesting and looting, and cops and even
the National Guard are working double time to keep everything under control. There are many
things that led up to the shooting. At 11:54 am on August 9, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend
Dorian Johnson were recorded on a convenience store security camera leaving the store with a
$48.00 box of Swisher Sweet Cigars. At that time, a dispatch went out over police radio reporting
the crime, a strong armed robbery (Freivogal). According to Grandstrandlaw.com, a strong armed
robbery ... occurs when there is no deadly weapon used during the robbery (Frederick). With this in
mind, we cannot assume that Michael Brown had a gun. We can also not say that he may have had
a gun, but just decided to not show it to the convenience store clerk in order to intimidate him or
her during the robbery. When Brown and Johnson left the store, they had a ten minute walk to get
back to where they lived. When they were walking home, they were walking in the middle of the
street when Officer Darren Wilson ordered

Celibacy in the Ministry of the Catholic Church
Introduction
The church has a large influence over the people, from the ancient times up until our modern age.
The church, as we know it, is composed of various members who all contribute to fulfill a holy
calling, and one of its constituents, who work closely with the public, are the priests. They make up
the embodiment of the Catholic Church, their very existence is what makes the church operate as it
is, meaning that they have an essential role to the Catholic system. With this in mind, priests
represent the very image of the church so issues associated with the priests are also identified in
relation to the church. As of now, there have already been various matters concerning the conduct
of priests instigated by society. One of these said issues are
Celibacy is the act of abstinence from marriage implicitly or explicitly made, for a more
immaculate devotion to chastity, by all those who are a member of the Holy Order. Priestly
celibacy has been observed by the Church for centuries with a high recognition, and retains its
value undiminished even in our time when the outlook of men and the state of the world have
undergone such profound changes. Amid the modern stirrings of opinion, a predisposition has
been expressed, to ask the Church to reconsider this specific convention. It is said that in the world
of our time the observance of celibacy has come to be difficult or even impossible. Necessity
One of the main reasons why it is necessary is because everyone is

  • 2. Bronze Age Catastrophes The Bronze Age started around 2300 BC in Europe and it consisted of the new found material of bronze. It was an important development in many cities during the time. Bronze was used for a multitude of items including weapons, chariot parts, tools, decorative objects, and ritual vessels. The bronze age eventually came to an end because of four major catastrophes that came around 1200 BC that help shape the first millennium. Climate change, migration, new technology, and administrative innovations was the origin of this change. One of the first catastrophe that came and helped end the bronzeage was climate change. • 3. The Current And Future Structure Of The Music Industry 1221581 Report critically discussing the current and future structure of the music industry in the United Kingdom. In this written report I shall be critically discussing the current and future structure of the music industry in the United Kingdom. The current structure can be laid out in the following manner: Source: (Dustry, 2015) PART 1 Labels, publishers and the Live Sector. Labels Firstly the focus of this report will be on the roles and the position of music labels. There are two types of music label; a major label and an indie (independent label). A music label is a separate entity which will supply an agreement between the artist and the label for a certain number of tracks to be recorded, manufactured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following on further from this, the label then pays the artist royalties from sales. In more recent times, both indie and major labels are including what is known as Ancillary Rights . Essentially, this is a clause that labels add into a contract that states that they receive a cut of artist s earnings which aren t directly related to the recording and release process. For example, should the artist sell out and perform a huge capacity venue, the label would then expect a percentage of that live income. Writing about indie labels in The Music Industry handbook , Rutter states Historically, many indies have grown to become larger corporate structures, whereby their artists have become successful through healthy consumer interest. Major music companies also work with successful independents to upscale their operations; the major s powerful promotion and distributions mechanisms facilitate greater product exposure for a percentage of the proceedings (Rutter, 2011) Publishers Publishers, or the act of publishing, entails an organisations acquirement of the copyrights to an artist s material. We can look at the role of a publisher for both a songwriter, a performer, and an artist who both writes their music and goes out to perform. Publishers will dedicate time, money, energy and passion into an artist s career and help them to develop their songs into the industry. Once a writer has completed a piece of music, there are ... • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Stadium Subsidy Sports subsidies have become the main way to finance a lot of the stadiums being built all around the United States. A stadium subsidy is a sort of government subsidy provided for a professional sports team to help invest in the building or improvement of sports stadiums. Even though these subsidies are occurring that does not mean that they are good. As a matter of fact they do more harm than good to the economy of the area the stadium is built in. This situation brings in taxes, business collapse, and really no solid evidence after research has been done on the economic boost of these stadium subsides. Also no matter if the sports franchise is a winning franchise, the more distance the sports stadium is from the main part of town, there is more of a chance of economic collapse (Jacobson 25). It is very hard to have a flourishing city all around if one side of town is getting the majority of business. If a city plans to have a better economy, building a new sports stadium is not the way to go. Most of the time the stadiums do not work out economically. That does not mean that stadiums can not work out in a city but just that the fact that the city will not become rich off of this introduction of a stadium (Jacobson 23). There are a lot of sports cities that struggle because of new stadiums coming into their community and a lot of businesses that have gone out of business because of this. The government should stop giving out this free money to big money franchises. Lastly there have been studies all over to test and see the value or nonvalue of

  • 10. The Heart Of Cardiac Muscle Essay INTRODUCTION The cardiac muscle, more commonly known as the heart muscle, is quite different from the more familiar know skeletal muscle. Unlike skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle is able to conduct its own electrical impulses allowing it to contract and relax spontaneously without being told to by the brain or any other organ (Marieb, Mitchell, p. 512). This is due to the constant leakage of sodium ions into the mainly potassium filled cells which then eventually lead to action potentials causing the heartto beat rhythmically (Mariev, Mitchell, p.512) this rhythm is more commonly referred to as one s heartbeat. From this BIOPAC laboratory, the student(s) should learn how different stimuli will affect a resting heart rate. Due to the fact that cardiac muscleis able to create action potentials on its own, a change in chemical, temperature, and ionic balance causes the heart to react differently and change its rhythm of beats by either slowing down or speeding up. More specifically, by saturating the heart with histamine the heart rate should speed up, while pilocarpine will cause the heart to substantially slow, and finally the addition of epinephrine will cause the resting heart rate to speed up. This was particularly true in the case of the black regiments that fought under the Confederate flag; because of the deep musical heritage carried by the African Americans from their homeland, it was only natural that they in turn transformed well known spirituals and ballads into music suitable for wartime. Captain George Sutherland noted that the black soldiers life was full of either music or religion, and although this statement related directly to a Negro regiment it could have also been applied universally, to the entirety of both armies (Wilson 148). He tried to use all his presidential powers by making laws. Roosevelt passed 6 laws to make it easier for him as a president, and as a trust buster. One of the specific laws he passed was called the Sherman Act. This law declared illegal for all combinations in restraint of trade. This law ultimately failed because whenever he tried to use it in court the judge either just denied it or the judge found a way around it. This means that the Sherman Act did not help Roosevelt break any trades or monopolies. Roosevelt was looking for a major monopoly to break, and he came across J.P. Morgan. Roosevelt came at this case aggressively because he really wanted to take down this monopoly. J.P. Morgan controlled a large chunk of railroads, and railroad shipping in the northern U.S. with a company known as the Northern Securities. Morgan was one of the most wealthy men in the U.S. because of his one large monopoly. One morning Morgan s phone rang, and when he found out that Roosevelt was attacking his business he was very angry. It is of upmost importance that the systems and processes used are in favour of the promotion of well being. Many professional parties involved in the care of an individual have many different systems and many different processes so to avoid confusion I will focus on some applicable to our organisation. The initial care needs assessment has a huge impact on the individual s well being as first contact with a service which will be playing a huge part in the delivery of your care can be quite daunting. It is important to make the individual feel valued, empowered and in control of their own care package. A good care needs assessment will reflect the individual s wants, dreams, aspiration s and how they want their life to be, it will highlight their true needs as well as their strengths. The review process should have the same result as the above and should ensure that changes are monitored, progress mapped and new goals and targets are set, it is imperative that the care plan gives a true and current reflection of the individual in order for them to receive the correct support. A huge example of that, would be the alphabet. Before the Phoenician invention of the alphabet, past civilizations used hieroglyphics to document information and send messages. The reasoning behind the invention was the large amount of trading the Phoenicians did. They needed a way to track the things coming and going out of their port and possession. Some of the letters they created, are still used everyday in the modern alphabet like the letters b and d for example. The alphabet isn t the only invention that is still used everyday. During this process the subject you are working with either animal or human learns to perform a specific task, through the use of positive or negative reinforcement (Chance, 2014). This model is best suited for teaching Ben the appropriate behavior as it relates to stealing. Operant conditioningwill be used to teach Ben not to steal; this will be supported by the use of positive reinforcers. In order for this to be effective Ben should be placed on a continuous reinforcement schedule; consisting of positive reinforcements. These should be age appropriate; these reinforcers are verbal praise and 30 minutes of television (Cartoon Network); this will be rewarded only if he does not engage in stealing. No forms of punishment will be used on Ben; although punishment has an immediate effect it does not teach a lesson. Samhain is a festival that is celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd. Samhain is a time of the year that celebrates the last harvest before the winter comes, and is dedicated to the Lord of the Dead (Guiley 19). The Celt s believe that the dead will come out of their final resting place and mess with the crops. Also, it is believed that communication with the dead is easier during Samhain. It is said that the veil that separates the living from the dead is at its thinnest during this time. The Lord of the Dead holds a sentencing of spirits, where if they were good they can exist in the form of a human, and if they were bad, the form of an animal. Offerings of food and drink are made to the Lord of the Dead so he would not be so severe in his sentencing. Many Celt s would dress up on Samhain to confuse the spirits that were roaming around so they wouldn t stop, but continue to pass them by (Guiley 19). The Tragedy Of Ferguson, Missouri Tragedy in Ferguson, Missouri Catherine Meeks CJSA1348 Research Paper November 25, 2014 On August 9, 2014, a young, unarmed, 18 year old, black man named Michael Brown was shot to death six times by 28 year old, white police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, a town just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Some say Officer Wilson was protecting his life, I call it police brutality. The brutality has led to an uproar of all day protesting and looting, and cops and even the National Guard are working double time to keep everything under control. There are many things that led up to the shooting. At 11:54 am on August 9, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were recorded on a convenience store security camera leaving the store with a $48.00 box of Swisher Sweet Cigars. At that time, a dispatch went out over police radio reporting the crime, a strong armed robbery (Freivogal). According to Grandstrandlaw.com, a strong armed robbery ... occurs when there is no deadly weapon used during the robbery (Frederick). With this in mind, we cannot assume that Michael Brown had a gun.
