cover the bucket tightly with plastic.

I was toured by the docent Ms. Alba Muniz at the Ringling Museum of Art located
in Sarasota, Florida. Asking her and some of the tours many questions, one of the
answers they gave me was that the museum does have a lot of Renaissance, Gothic
and Rococo but the museum is particularly strong in the Baroque period. This
museum was very interesting and exciting to visit. It had featured exhibits such as
Peter Paul Rubens s, The Triumph of the Eucharist Series, Trenton Doyle Hancock
s, What the Bringback Brought, and Builder Levy s, Appalachia USA. These three
exhibits where really compelling and had a strong background to them. For example
Peter Paul Rubens s, The Triumph of the Eucharist Series, was comminsioned by
daughter of King Phillip II in 1625. Her name was Isabella Clara Eugenia and she
was actually in one of the tapestries presented in the museum. That tapestry was

It s a good day to be indigenous! (00:04:55 00:04:56) says Randy Peone, the voice
of the KREZ radio, setting the mood for the whole film, Smoke Signals. Smoke
Signals is about Native Americans, specifically Thomas Builds The Fire, played
by Evan Adams, and Victor Joseph, played by Adam Beach, that live on the Coeur
d Alene Indian Reservation. The story follows these two proud to be Indian boys
all the way through their adulthood. The audience gets to see their relationship
develop from distant friends to a brother like bond. This film is a Native American
masterpiece; however, I believe that the true magic lies in the work of Evan
Adams. As soon as Thomas enters on screen, the audience falls in love. He wears
two side braids, nice suits, and a huge smile plastered across his face. At the
beginning of the film, he is a happy and curious kid that is everything but
refreshing to his friend Victor. They both have known each other their entire lives.
One thing that is truly captivating about Evan s performance is his ability to truly
encapsulate his character. While watching the film, one can really see the emotion
and feeling in his eyes and in his voice. In part in particular, he says, So then he

Letter to the Author
The Pearl, written by John Steinbeck, takes place in La Paz Mexico. The begins
with a description of the family in the first few pages of the book. The family
consists of, a couple, and one toddler. Juana, the wife of Kino, and mother of
Coyotito.
After the description of the family, the book continues with a scary problem.
Coyotito is sleeping and as he is sleeping, Kino notices a scorpion crawl down the
rope that is connected to the hanging box Coyotito lies on. Kino attempts to catch the
scorpion but Coyotito moves and makes the scorpion fall on him. Although, Kino
eventually kills the scorpion, sadly Coyotito was still stung by the scorpion.
The couple and a couple of neighbors, rush Coyotito to the local doctor. The doctor
refused to treat Coyotito because the family could not afford to treat Coyotito.
Kino and Juana leave the doctors and take Coyotito down near the sea, where Juana
uses a seaweed poultice on Coyotito s shoulder, which is now swollen. Kino then
jumps from his canoe for oysters in an attempt to find pearls. Kino eventually finds a
surprisingly large oyster. When he opens the oyster, he soon finds out there is a large
pearl that is worth more than he can count.
Reading through the book, I noticed that they rarely used figurative language. Let s
be honest, figurative language is way more entertaining then with a book or passage
with no figurative language. The book is still well written with an entertaining plot
in my opinion and maybe there is figurative language but I haven t noticed since the
book is over 50 years old. Let s get back to the story.
Kino puts back his head and howls, causing the other pearl divers to look up and
race toward Kino s canoe.
Soon, everyone in La Paz finds out that Kino has found such an amazing pearl. The
doctor who refused to treat Coyotito decides to visit Kino. Kino s neighbors begin to
