Water Simulation Lab Report
Introduction Water is the most abundant resource on the planet and is one that is vital to all
living organisms. Plants especially depend greatly on water and contain structures in their body in
order to use the water efficiently. Water relations is a research field that deals with investigating
how environmental factors affect the plant s usage of the water (Bot 201L lab manual, 2016). A
study was conducted to see how low water in the soil affected the uptake of water in Alfalfa leaves
and if it had any effect on the plant s photosynthesisrate. (Abid et al, 2016). It was found that there
was a correlation between the photosynthesis rate and the amount of water the leaves would uptake
since the stomata on the alfalfa leaves would remain closed (Abid et al, 2016). Since the stomata
would close more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stomata closure is a coping strategy that plants use when there is low water available in the soil
which prevents cavitation in the vessels of the xylem (Huber, 2015). It is also found that stomatal
closure not only helps regulate transpiration in plants that have low water availability, but it also
increases its water use efficiency (Huber, 2015). Wind is also considered to be a factor that affects
transpiration in plants. Another study observed the effects of stomatal distribution (such as
amphistomatous leaves) in leaves of a plant in low wind environments (Foster, 1986). The
experiment found that amphistomatous leaves had the greatest transpiration rate at low wind
speeds while hyperstomatous leaves had a higher transpiration rate than the hypostomatous leaves
(Foster, 1986). Leaves contain what is called a boundary layer that can be defined as a still layer of
fluid containing gasses and liquid that surround the leaf that affects the movement of CO2 and
water in the leaves depending on its thickness (Bot 201L lab manual, 2016). In this study, the
effects of wind will be observed on the transpiration rate and stomatal conductance in the leaves of

Friendship in Something Wicked This Way Comes
In the novel, Something Wicked This Way Comes, two boys named Jim Nightshade and Will
Holloway discover a strange carnival. (Bradbury, 25) Not long after this discovery of the strange
carnival, the two boys realize the dangers and mayhem this carnival holds. As they try to spill the
faults of the carnival, they find themselves in danger. Mr. Dark, the one in charge of the carnival,
tries to rid of the two boys so that they won t bother his carnival any more. In place of Jim and
Will being scavenged by Mr. Dark and his carnival freaks, Wills dad steps in to aid the boys until
the storm that will temporarily end the carnival comes. After hiding and running away from Mr.
Dark, the boys get caught and become captives of the carnival. Soon Charles Hall
One common occurrence in this novel is the friendship between Will and Jim. Friendship is what
kept Jim, Will s best friend, alive. However, despite the obstacles they faced the carnival s
presence, their friend ship stayed strong. During chapter 3, the book states: That s friendship, each
playing the potter to see what shapes we can make of the other. (Bradbury,18) This quote backs up
the fact that the two s influence on each other. Though the two boys may be opposites, they balance

he could to keep Jim out of danger. Even if it meant shooting the dust witch s air balloon out of

Animal Welfare And Relative Welfare

Scientific Journal Report #2
12/16/2014
Introduction
Much can be said about animal welfare, many aspects are relatively new. New topics and avenues
of potential research are constantly surfacing. For starters, one idea I m going to attempt to tackle
is an ethical one. Subjective at best in my opinion, it usually doesn t warrant serious scientific
research. The topics I m suggesting are organic welfare and relative welfare. I m talking about the
range of emotions animals have and how they can be interpreted to best adapt an animal s
environment to maximize their welfare. Several institutions would ... Show more content on

A consumer could be more inclined to purchase/use a product if they can believe that their
product lived a full and happy life. The same criteria can be said for a prospective pet, an owner
would want an all around healthy companion that can display a full range of emotion during the
course of its life. Welfare can certainly be relative when you take into account the definition in
context. I m going to pose an argument that for instance an organically raised, grass fed cow can
claim a higher quality welfare than a stock cow; one that has been raised in a warehouse, outside
of a natural frame of reference (conditions the animal could exist in with minimal human
intervention). I ll even go so far as to say the physical presence of the sun may be a vital
component in welfare. It has been documented that lack of sun exposure can lead to vitamin D,
and calcium deficiency, various diseases because of that and even depression.[5] The definition
of welfare can be measured by the accumulation of positive and negative experiences. Objectively
weighing the satisfaction of every need (and possibly want) of the animal in question versus;
illnesses, pain, abnormal behavior, and chronic stress, etc. Through these objective measures, an
animal s level of wellbeing can be properly gauged. [3] This makes it fairly easy to measure welfare
since each of these events or categories probably has

Warning Signs Of The Sandy Hook Massacre
Screaming, shuffling, and urging... teachers ushered students to safety inside bathrooms and
classrooms after Adam Lanza shot the first bullet with his semi automatic, AR 15 assault rifle.
Lanza shot 20 students that day, after killing his mother earlier. Imagine if Lanza s community
had known the signs to look for. That massacre could have been prevented. Moved by the event, a
non profit appropriately named, Sandy Hook Promise, arose to educate the populous on the
warning signs of gun violence. To that aim, they created Evan a public service announcement
(PSA) that shocked the country. First, viewers see the story of a boy and girl s relationship
blossom. Then several days pass in the plot, when suddenly another character starts open fire...

seem vital at the moment, much like how the young couple in the video felt, reflection exposes
that the most significant duty of each human on earth is to care for one another. If only those

Best Buy Business Ethics
Best Buy was founded by Richard Schulze and Gary Smoliak in 1966 in St. Paul, MN under the
name Sound of Music , this store was an audio equipment store he had opened after Richard left
his father s store as a salesman. In the early 80 s Richard bought out his partner and this is when
the name we all know now as Best Buycame to be. Best Buy s main goal is to help bring customers
and technology together and to focus on keeping the consumers educated on the features and
benefits of technology products (Press, 2004). Best Buy offers consumers the leading edge on

This company partners with over 120 factories and some that are located overseas which provide
foreign jobs. They work hand and hand with the suppliers on the design, production and testing
on all products. They also exceed expectations for a safe and healthy work environment where all
workers are treated fairly, respectfully and equally and same to the customers. In my research I
also came across that Best Buy also participates in a U.S. and China joint Customs and Border
Protection, they are also involved in a program called Custom Trade Partnership Against
Terrorism (C TPAT) in which I found very intriguing since you never hear of companies doing
this or at least I have not, since I am military and while finding this out they will now have more
support from me. I would say Best Buy is an organization that takes its social and ethic
responsibilities serious and has surpassed my expectations. BestBuy learned early in the on in the
beginning to engage in some sort of social responsibilities if they want to have a chance to survive.
So you can say a responsible business is defined by actively deciding to better the conditions of the

Cerebral Phalsy Argumentative Essay
Despite the growing amount of resources available for those with cerebral palsy, many parents
and clinicians are looking for alternative treatments. One such treatment is known as conductive
education (CE). The basic idea is that people with motor disorders (e.g. cerebral palsy) may have
special learning disabilities on top of their motor impairments (Darrah et al., 2003). While initial
results seemed promising, two reviews showed that many of the studies produced conflicting
results, and that more robust studies were needed in order to come to a conclusion about CE
(Forssberg et al., 2000; Darrah et al., 2003). Yet another alternative treatment is goal directed
training. Goal directed training is a method where specific goals and interventions... Show more

One of the most exciting treatments being discussed and researched currently is neurotoxic protein
Botulinum toxin type A (BoTN A). By injecting BoNT A into spastic muscles, one can potentially
reduce the spasticity present from 3 6 months (Simpson et al., 2008; Scholtes et al., 2006; Dai et
al., 2008; Yang et al., 2008). It does this by weakening the muscle that it is injected into, effectively
relaxing the stiff muscles in cerebral palsy (Bihari, 2005). Additionally, BoNT A injections can
increase the motor functionality of a patient and reduce or prevent deformity (Apkon Cassidy,
2010). The effects are reversible, so after this time period has passed, BoNT A must be reinjected
into the muscle. The main focus of the injections are for spastic or dystonic muscles. Some, though,
have shown that whilst BoNT A injections are helpful in the upper and lower extremities, there is
conflicting evidence regarding motor function (Delgado et al., 2010). BoNT A injections may even
be combined with any number of physiotherapies, occupational therapies, orthotics or casting as
described above to increase its effectiveness (Novak et al., 2013). With these other measures,
walking performance and hand functionality improved (Novak et

Let s Say You Are A Senior Decision Maker Of A Large...
1.Let s say you are a senior decision maker in a large computer design, manufacturing and sales
company. How do the three convergences affect you? (1 2 page response, single space) Besides
the ten flatteners that Friedman discusses in the book, he also talks about the convergences that
create a flatter world. The first convergence deals with engaging people from around the globe
and being able to communicate. More likely than not, my computer parts and chips would be
manufactured in China, were I can collaborate with engineers designing custom parts. When a
design change is needed I could send email and use video chat to have meetings to discuss what
changes my company would need. Being able to email and chat in real time would increase
efficiency in my product design. Without this ability to outsource and possibly hire a Chinese
engineer to help translate material, my design team may not be as robust. I could have a sales
center based in India that I could direct all my sales information and technical support where more
engineers and services sector people could perform the tasks needed therein reducing the cost of
have a call center and sales locally. The second convergence deals with new technology that
Freidman describes as horizontalization, the shift from a vertical chain of command to a horizontal
chain of command for value creation (Freidman, 2007). Collaboration among various groups or
departments allows for innovation to occur freely. If the manufacturing

Leon Trotsky s Contribution to the Success of the Bolsheviks Up To 1922
In this essay I will explain Leon Trotsky s contribution to the success of the Bolsheviks. I will
consider a number of reasons including his organisation of the revolution, his actions on the 6th 8th
November 1917, public speaking, The Red Army civil war, and the Kronstadt uprising. I will finish
with a clear, concise, conclusion.
Leon Trotsky was born in 1879 in a remote part of southern Ukraine. He was the son of a Jewish
farmer and was educated ant Odessa University. He became very interested in the writings of Karl
Marx, as a result he spent long times in exile. Trotsky was a first a Menshevik and did not join the

On the evening of 6th November 1917, Trotsky went to the Peter and Paul Fortress, this housed the
majority of Russian arms, it is located on an island in the middle of the river Neva in Petrograd, he
bribed the troops guarding the fortress and his troops were given access to powerful munitions.
Later that night the Revolution began. The primary objectives were to take command of railway
stations, post offices, telephone centres, banks, bridges, and the Engineers Palace (the military
headquarters). This objective continued into the morning of the 7th, and on the evening of the 7th
November 1917 Trotsky and his Red Guard stormed the Winter Palace and arrested the ministers of
the provisional government. On the 8th November, an announcement was made that the provisional
government had been overthrown. This helped the Bolsheviks because the organisation skills
Trotsky supplied meant the Bolsheviks had support and weapons, if it hadn t been for him, the
Bolsheviks may never have overthrown the government. It also meant everything was perfectly set
up for the Revolution
Trotsky was a skilled public speaker who managed to inspire his listeners to support him and his
party. His speeches were inspirational to everyone who listened and it made many change their
ideas about how Russia should be governed. He made his speeches with skill and brilliance . An

Character Analysis Of Charlotte Douglas
Surprisingly, I found myself liking Charlotte Douglas from Didion s novel more than any of the
other characters that we have read so far. Grace s initial analysis of Charlotte as someone who
merely dreams their life left me with the impression that she was not going to be a character I
would relate to or even remotely identify with. As the book went on, Charlotte grew on me more
and more. I loved how mysterious behaviors such as her frequent visits to the airport were
explained early on in the book as a mere vehicle for socialization, masquerading, and entertainment,
leaving the readerto view her with a certain degree of disdain. Later in the book, the reader begins
to realize that Charlotte is possibly using the airport as a means of... Show more content on

Churchgoing Christian men are convinced they are on a moral crusade to violently put an end to the
convent in Ruby only through a series of misunderstandings that lead them to believe that mass
abortions and witchcraft are occurring in the confines of their town. Even though readers will not
often particularly like many characters in the novels they read, insights can absolutely be gained
from them.
The differing styles in approaching perspectives in their storytelling between Didion and the
combination of Boyle and Morrison have significant effects on each of their stories. Didion
chooses to provide her story through the use of a singular narrator, while Boyle and Morrison
choose to offer multiple perspectives. At no point did I feel like my involvement in A Book of
Common Prayer was affected negatively by the use of a singular narrator. By only introducing
the reader to Grace s point of view, the reader is able to fully immerse themselves in the allure of
Charlotte Douglas s character and Grace s fascination with her. The reader is able to see their own
opinion of Charlotte change just as Grace s does when she is provided with new information about
her character. Had Didion s novel been from multiple perspectives, it likely would have been a
vastly more political novel, with the tensions of Marin, Antonio, Gerardo, and Victor s characters
being highlighted. The singular perspective of A Book of Common Prayer allows for more

Game Of Fortune And The Role Of Virtu

Game of Fortune the Role of Virtu Often times we watch many things in our life without
necessarily looking at the context of what we are observing, and taking note of the politics that
take play. Game of Thrones is a series on HBO adapted from the book by George R. R. Martin
that has a number of politically charged issues. The show takes precedence in a land called The
Seven Kingdoms composed of several territories most notable being Westeros. It takes place during
the War of 5 Kings where several opposing factions vie for rule of the Iron Throne (King of the
Seven Kingdoms ) located in Westeros. During this civil war there is a force in the North beyond
the walls that civilized men from The Seven Kingdoms built to hold an ominous (nightwalkers)
force outside their realm. In the show a number of actors points of view are followed. The viewer
watches alliances, trust, deception, fortune, and skill come into play. This spiral of conflict for
possession of the throne started when King Robert Baratheon became ill and died. However,
turmoil for the Iron Throne is nothing new for the land since it had not long ago been ruled by the
Mad King Targaryen whose lineage had ruled the throne for long reign. Conflicts arise among many
of the parties that had invested interest in the throne. Scandals and accusations put many in the
realm at junctions where they must form alliances. As these events transpire

Black and White People s Contrasting Ideas About Wealth...
In the poem Nikki Rosa by Nikki Giovanni, the poet communicates through her childhood
memories her belief that white people and black people have fundamentally different ideas about
wealth and happiness. Along with her words, she uses structure, tone and imagery to convey her
belief that white people and black peoplesee their personal life experiences differently. Wealth for
black people is love, family, and togetherness, not tangible items. A sense of community and
acceptance of one another are more valuable than having even a private toilet. White peoplesee

white people s perceptions of that memory. The author uses tone and images throughout to
compare and contrast the concepts of black wealth and a hard life . The author combines the use
of images with blunt word combinations to make her point. For example, you always remember
things like living in Woodlawn/with no inside toilet (line 3). This image evokes the warmth of
remembering a special community with the negative of having to use outdoor facilities.
Another example of this combination of tone and imagery is how good the water felt/ when you
got your bath from one/ of those/ big tubs that folk in chicago barbecue in (line 9). Again, the
poet s positive memory of feeling fresh after her bath is combined with the fact that she had to
bathe in a barbecue drum. Images are vital to the poem s meaning. They evoke the reader s
emotions and show us that love is more valuable than all things, and money does not define
happiness. This is demonstrated by the images as well as the tone of the poem. The author shares
though you re poor it isn t poverty that/ concerns you/ and though they fought a lot/ it isn t your

Scandinavian Bronze Man
Although the Scandinavian Bronze Age man was a seaman, the extensive use of navigator
features on the panels is also related to the artists intrinsic curiosity on death. Both the sun cross
and the sun chariot can be seed transporting the people to the sun. This is an extension of the
allusion that when life ended, the individuals were transported to the other world that was far
from the current world. These might also be the initial allusion to the idea that man believed in
life after death. Death is taken to be an even where a man travels to a faraway priest. From other
archeological works, the burial sites for the Scandinavian Bronze Age man have been seen to be

nursing home with Duke, also known as Noah reading to an elderly woman, Allie Hamilton.
Allie has dementia, therefore has slowly been losing her memory. Duke reads the story of two
lovers (Allie and Noah) who meet in South Carolina at a carnival one summer night. Allie was a
rich and privileged seventeen year old city girl. Noah, however, was a small town country boy.
The two spent the whole summer together but Allie was forced by her parents to move and go to
college, although she was willing to give it up for Noah. Noah wrote Allie 365 letters that she
never received due to her mom hiding them from her. Seven years later, Allie meets and falls in love
with a wealthy soldier named Lon. One day Allie came across Noah s picture in the paper next
to a newly restored house, a house that they had once shared a passion filled night in. Seeing
Noah s picture in the paper drew Allie right back to him. They ended up spending a couple of
days together and towards the end Allie decides she does not want to leave. Allie has to choose
between Noah and her fiancГ©, Lon. The story then stops, and leads back to the nursing home.
The now older, yet sickly Allie miraculously begins to remember that she was the girl from the
story. A day later, Allie and Noah were found dead in the same bed holding hands.

MARIE CURIE AND THE STUDY OF RADIOACTIVITY
Marie Curie was born, Maria Sklodowska on November 7, 1867. She grew up in Warsaw,
Poland. She would become famous for her research on radioactivity. Marie Curie was the first
woman to ever win a Nobel prize, and the first ever to win two Nobel prizes. She is most famous
for the discovery of Radium and Polonium. Her work not only influenced the development of
fundamental science, but also began a new era in medical research and treatment.
Maria was the last of five children. Her oldest sister died of Typhus, one sister became a teacher
and a brother and a sister both became physicians. Her family was not very rich, but education was

During Marie s time, the atom was thought to be the smallest particle in existence. At first, Marie
and Pierre Curie believed that perhaps the atom was covered with cosmic rays. Marie tested
numerous elements to find if other ones than Uranium would make the air conduct electricity better.
Pierre was so interested in Marie s work, that he joined forces with her. Her research had revealed
that two uranium ores, pitchblende and chalcolite were much more radioactive that pure uranium.
Marie concluded that the highly radioactive nature of these ores may possibly be due to
undiscovered elements.
In July of 1898, Marie and Pierre Cure discovered Polonium. They named the element after Marie s
birth country, Poland. Chemically, this new element was very similar to bismuth, but it contained
radioactivity, so it must be new. In December of 1898, the Curie s discovered yet another element.
They named this one radium, from the Latin word for ray. The two new elements had completely
different chemical properties, but they both had very strong radioactivity.
It was not easy for Marie and Pierre to convince the science community of their new findings.
Marie succeeded in separating the radium from the barium, but it wasn t easy. She had to treat very
large amounts of pitchblende, but she had plenty of pitchblende to use. (The Curie s

Technology Changed Technology
Technology has changed greatly in the last 100 years. To help me understand how technology
has changed, I interviewed my grandmother about the changes in her lifetime. Throughout her
life, she has witnessed many technological changes around the world. One change that has
occurred in her lifetime is the color TV. When she was born, color TVs existed, however, none
of the channels broadcasted in color. It was until she was in her 20s when stations began to
transition into color television. She also told me that when she was younger, they would find
out the news through newspapers a day or two after the event occurred. However, today we can
hit a button on our phones and we ll receive notifications moments after an event has occurred.
Lastly, she told me about the first cell phones. She said that the first cell phones were called
Brick Phones because they were the size of brick. However, cell phones today are much smaller,
and can fit into your pocket. After talking to her about some changes in her life, I asked her how
she felt about changes in technology. She said, I m all for progress in technology. However,
sometimes it can be very scary because it feels like it s of of your control. For example with
computers, they can have security safeguards, but hackers keep getting smarter and can access our
computer easily. I do though like the progress with regards to safer cars, better appliances, and
especially better medical technology for our health care. Based

Teaching Nurses On Compassion Fatigue
While working in an emergency department (ED), nurses are expected to show compassion even
when they are exhausted? Over tired? Over worked? Fatigued? The purpose of this evidence based
practice (EBP) project was to educate ED nurses on compassion fatigue (CF) risk factors, causes,
and symptoms as well as assist them in its identification among each other and within themselves.
Further, the project sought to provide nurses with skills in order to prevent CF. A two hour
workshop consisting of a PowerPoint presentation was implemented in a busy emergency
department on the coast of NJ. Teaching nurses about compassion fatigueand ways in which to
alleviate and prevent it were stressed. Self regulation and self care practices were introduced using
interactive activities. Over the next four weeks, emails were sent reiterating self care and self
regulatory techniques. A Pretest posttest design used the Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL)
measure to determine if burnout and secondary traumatic stress (both components of CF) and
compassion satisfaction improved from the workshop. A comparative means analysis showed a
decline in CF.
Keywords: Compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, self regulation, self care, Emergency

Pensacola Harbor
The naval side of the civil war in Florida all started with the Pensacola harbor. There was a navy
yard and three forts guarding the harbor, including Fort Barrancas, Fort McRee, and Fort Pickins.
On January 8, 1861, Florida Governor Madison S. Perry authorized Colonel Chase to seizing the
forts at Pensacola. On the Fort Barrancas, 1st Lieutenant Adam J. Slemmer was an officer from
Montgomery County, Pennsylvania during the Seminole Wars and the American Civil War
. He heard
rumors that the Florida Militia was planning on seizing the Navy Yard, the barracks and the forts in
the Pensacola areas. With Slemmer not wanting to enter the union he moved gunpowder and other
materials to Fort Pickens, which he thought, would be the safest port to fight from.
On January 10, 1861, Florida seceded from the U.S. being the third state to secede. On January 15
and January 18 Slemmer refused demands for surrender from Colonel William Henry Chase who
designed and constructed Fort Pickens. Fort Pickens was thought to be the first war of the civil

Big Fish Quotes
Big Fish produced by Tim Burton consist of much spiritual significance. For example, one might
think the fish was a symbol of Christianity, because of the Jesus fish that we often see on bumper
stickers, but there is one true spiritual significance. The one true spiritual significance that sticks
out the most is the Christ like figure. Edward Bloom, the main character represents the Christ like
figure in this film. Like Jesus, Edward Bloom is a storyteller who tells the stories of his father.
Storytelling is a strong trait that is used in every conversation today. In the film, a quote says A
man tells stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him and he becomes
immortal. essentially this quote is saying that

protagonist in the novel, experienced his own identity crisis his entire life just like every
teenager does nowadays. Tayo goes on a hero s journey to find a cure for his PTSD from the
war. The protagonist was raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Josiah. He fought in World War II with
his cousin Rocky in the humid forest of the Philippines, there he was convinced that his uncle was
shot and killed. In the Philippines there was constant rain and floods, Tayo prayed for the rain to

She argues that the trauma in the novel is a way to break barriers and force privileged readers to
understand others. She says that the representation of trauma in the novel makes readers see the
effects of imperialism rather than focusing on politics, making it a personal problem not a
political one. The novel depicts this trauma in a relevant light for global readers. I agree with
her, this is not a single incident and the book does an amazing job to show privileged people that
trauma is everywhere, not just in the past. Literature is sometimes used as a vehicle to tell
stories that other people can t experience or haven t. Silko uses her story to show the world other
people s suffering, probably a suffering they have indirectly helped. When Americans think of
Native American suffering it is thought of a thing of the past, something we have already fixed;
but if we look at the Dakota Access Pipeline, oppression is still shown there. Silko took her chance

potential client s family. Some issues that will be addressed are the changes in role and social
position during this stage. One will also compare living accommodation such as accessibility and
the need for health care. Also one will illustrate the adjustment and transition from work to
retirement. What changes occur in marriage, family, and peer relationships? Lastly one will identify
social policies that affect the older adult.

When the other percentage of older adults cannot maintain to keep their homes, they will end up
with relatives most likely their children. Three fourths of Americans end up living in poor quality
areas. Those who live in these deteriorating, crime ridden, decaying neighborhoods are potentially
more capable of being robbed or mugged. Fortunately there are several areas in which older people
can go to where they have assisted living options. These facilities can offer help with maintenance,
daily meals, social centers, and protection.
Health care will be needed more in the older population than any other. The old ageis growing
continuously. There are more of the older adults today than babies. Older adults are more likely
to have a long term illness. During the 80 s the government said they were no longer able to pay
for health care. This resulted in eligibility and limits in paying off the payments. If limits continue
to be present, this can result in the poor and older people to face untreated illnesses and have a
higher risk of death. Physicians are mainly trained to watch over the youth meaning the less
interest in helping the older adults. The older population will be neglected and can be mis
diagnosed. Those who also have lack of transportation will also end up with inadequate care.
How is the adjustment and transition from work to retirement? The main goal of society is to
maintain the work flow and keeping a high rate of employment. A factor that was used in

Environmental Sustainability And Its Impact On Canadians...
Nearly fourteen years ago, the Calgary based oil enterprise Enbridge announced its most
controversial project yet; to build a $6.5 billion oil duct from Bruderheim, Alberta to Kitimat,
British Columbia (Canadian Press, 2013, para. 1). It was to be named the Northern Gateway
Pipeline .Enbridge s preliminary announcement on the sixth of March, 2002, not only divided the
province of British Columbia on whether environmental or economic prosperity was more
important, but the country of Canadaas a whole. Although the name Northern Gateway is well
known in many Western Canadian households, few truly know the details of what this project
entails. Many environmentalists and economists (Mortillara, Nicole, Global News, 2014) debate
the benefits and the negative impacts that this pipeline will have on Canadians and Canadian
society. Others, though, are trying to understand what steps are being taken to ensure
environmental sustainability during construction, and for the many years after its projected
completion. This multi billion dollar project has many vocal opposers, and a seemingly equal
amount of environmental risks that accompanies it, all adding up to the general consensus that this
duct is not worth the economic benefits that it would produce.
Enbridge estimates that 99% of the crude oil from Alberta is transported to the United States.
Currently though, America s demand for imported oil is decreasing (AsiaPacific.ca/Canadian Oil),

The Pat Parker case is about a lawyer who started his own firm concentrating on writing reports
and conducting political opposition research for political candidates. This particular case is about
how Parker devised a research report for one particular political candidate then two years later,
some trial lawyers wanted to buy the research on the Republican Attorney General. Parker was
unsure on how to proceed knowing that this could potentially jeapordise the political party s
candidate or even worse, he could be arrested for soliciting the information. Would Parker be

statutes and other codes of ethics? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Parker opted to sell the research, he would be breeching the contract and depending on how much
of the research and other materials the Republican party used to perhaps win the elections, the
Democratic party would have the right to sue for damages.
You also need to ask whether Parker would be infringing the copyright law? According to the
copyright law, the holder has the right to control the material covered by the copyright. In this
case, the Democratic Party candidate owns the copyright since Parker provides a service to
produce this data for them. Therefore, the Democratic party candidate is the only one who can
decide how the materials are used, distributed, reproduced, and displayed to the public or to
individuals. If the research and other materials were sold to the Republican candidate the
Democratic candidate could sue in violation of the copyright. Remedies for the violation could
include damages, jail time, an injunction, and/or destruction of the infringing items.
Parker would have violated campaign statutes and other codes of ethics by reselling the research.
Though the campaign statutes were not explicitly mentioned, they probably would have stated that
selling a Party s intellectual capital was not only unethical but against campaign practices. Though
the research was constructed of various news clippings and other factual data, the research

Roses don t really enjoy the heat of summer and go into summer dormancy, meaning that they just

temperatures begin to cool, it is time to lightly prune your rosebushes, which will stimulate new

Keeping a hummingbird feeder is a good idea, but there are other things you need to do to keep the
little birds happy and humming in your garden. Hummingbirds, unlike most other animals, do not
find their food source based on smell. Because of this, brightly colored plants and feeders are what
attract the tiny creatures to your garden. Red is the best color to attract them. Keeping a clean, full
feeder provides hummingbirds with the energy they need to keep flying around your garden and to
other stops on their feeding route. The sugar water solution, however, is not their main food source.
Hummingbirds actually get the nutrients and proteins they need for survival from soft bodied
spiders and tiny insects on the plants in your garden. Their outrageous metabolisms burn up calories
so quickly, they need the sugar and flower nectars to keep them energized so they can hunt. The
traditional sugar/water solution calls for one part sugar to four parts water. Do not boil the water to
make syrup. Just mix it in room temperature water. Some gardeners have experimented with
solutions that have a higher concentration of sugar to water. There is no research to show that high
concentrated solutions of sugar harms the hummingbirds. Their metabolism operates so much
differently than most animals. A higher concentration of solution just means they can drink less
often to get the energy they need to hunt. It

American Exploration In The 1500 s
The early 1500 s was known in history as The Age of Exploration. At the time anyone who was
involved with exploration had their own motives such as wealth, trade, glory, and the spread of
Christianity. People became more involved with exploration because it created new trading routes,
applied new technologies, created economic goals, and rise of nations. Exploration in the 1500 s
relates back to US history because during the Age of Exploration America was founded.
Portugal took the lead in search of the first all water route to Asia. To control trades with Asia was
Portugal s number one priority. Portuguese sailors used a ship named caravel to sail the seas. It
had a triangular sail and three masts. The triangular sail let the cravel sail through wind. The
caravel was the fastest and lightest boat. It was also wide enough to carry water and food for

The fights and arguments that my parents had would rub off on the children making life very
difficult. My parents would fight so constantly that they could no longer keep their marriage
happy causing them to file for a divorce. This was the hardest time in my life. When my parents
got the divorce I went from barely seeing my own father from working long hours to barely seeing
my own mother, who had to pick up full time work as a cashier. Eventually, my dad went to live
with his parents which resulting in me rarely seeing him. I knew I had to help out because my
mother was now single, taking care of three kids. My mom would work three jobs trying to pay for
lawyer fees for the divorce, pay bills, and take care of three young children. After seeing endless
days and nights of my mom crying over finances, I promised to her life was going to be different.
I developed a sense of determination to gain an education and pay for my own tuition. The struggle
of coming from a first generation family has definitely opened my eyes to the harsh reality of life
without post secondary experience. My ambition to help began when I was eight. The job only
paid eighty dollars a month, which I split with my brother, leaving me with only forty dollars.

Ideally, Jet2(b) will undertake a strategic combination of cost reduction and revenue growth,
however the former is easier and quicker to implement in the short term.
Jet2 and Monarch employs 5,200 (About Us, 2016) and 3,000 (Corporate Facts Figures, 2016)

What Is Factory Farming Argumentative Essay
Argumentative Essay
Factory farming is an efficient and profitable way to make and sell meat. But there are a myriad of
consequences to this system. Factory farms do whatever they can to be cost efficient. This leads to
a waste of energy, harmful effects on the environment, cruel animal treatment, and negative effects
on human health, and therefore, factory farming should be abolished. Lots of energy is wasted in
factory farming. When farming with animals, companies have to feed the cattle and livestock. The
energy put into feeding the cows is often wasted, because energy is lost when the cow is killed.
Converting grain into meat entails a large loss of food energy, particularly if cattle are doing the
converting. Conservatives estimates are that cattle require 7 kg of grain to create 1 kg of beef,
(Horrigan, Lawrence, Walker 448). If fewer cows were being killed for food consumption, less
energy would be wasted. For every 100kg of beef made, 700kg are grain are needed to feed the
animal. The ratio that every one kg of beef requires seven times the amount of energy to produce it
is wasteful when the outcome is so small. The outcome does not outweigh the negatives
consequences that come with food production. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Unit 7 File Encryption Paper
Encrypting files is an effective way of securing information over the internet and protect the
confidentiality and integrity of data. 128 bit encryption is the mathematical equivalent of key
combinations used by encryption and decryption algorithms to keep data transmission secure. The
strength of a keyis in the key length, and numbers of bits in a key, the longer the key the more
secure or hard it will be to crack the encryption.
An encryption algorithm takes the original message and encodes it using the encryption key and
creates an encrypted message. The only way to retrieve the original message is by decrypting the
message using the encryption key. If the encryption key uses a 128 bit key is the same as saying

Asscher Cut Engagement Ring
One of the most constant engagement ring trends of the moment is the Asscher cut engagement
ring. In fact, almost 1 bride in 3 in the United States is opting for a square diamond featuring the
Asscher cut. These diamonds offer a timeless vintage feel without looking old fashioned. The
square cut adds symmetry to a setting and the diamond can be set alone or surrounded with smaller
diamonds for extra sparkle and bling.
The Asscher cut is also sometimes known as a modified cushion cut, or a square emerald cut. The
distinctive feature of this sophisticated cut is the square shape with corners cut deeply to look like
an octagon. The Asscher cut has been patented by the Asscher family, and every genuine Asscher
diamond will display the patent lasered on the stone. (This is not visible to the naked eye.) ... Show

This means that Asscher diamonds will cost more than some other diamonds of the same carat
weight. Asscher cut diamonds tend to look best when set in white metal, but in this day and age
any look and style is encouraged. Due to the cut of these diamonds they give off a startling depth
when looking into them.
History of Asscher diamonds:
The Asscher cut was originally designed in 1902, and fast became very popular in the 1920 s,
suiting the art deco engagement rings perfectly. The Asscher cut got an overhaul in 2001, adding
16 extra facets to the original cut to increase the sparkle factor. This new improved design has been
repatented and is apparently harder to copy.
Celebrity engagement rings featuring Asscher cuts:
* Jessica Alba s engagement ring features a 5 carat Asscher diamond surrounded by smaller
diamonds. The shank is encrusted with smaller diamonds for a luxurious, timeless and elegant

5. El Perro Negro ( The black dog)
Beware of the dog
Travel bloggers beware! El Perro Negro (The Black Dog) is a gigantic dog that shoots fire from his
mouth and eyes and lurks in the otherwise tranquil Antioquia nights in search of lost travellers.
Are you planning on walking the streets of MedellГn at night, thinking to yourself that the only risk
is indeed wanting to stay? Well think again. That chilling howl that pierces the night; the sound of
a heavy chain being dragged slowly along; those thudding footsteps that mimic your heart as it
beats faster and faster... run for your life. It could be The Black Dog a tortured, demonic soul
reincarnated chasing you to take you to a hotter, but considerably less pleasant, place that lies far,
far beneath Medellin.

When rains terrorise the land, there s only one woman that can be responsible: Madre Monte.

Family, what does family mean? Again according to google all the descendants of a common
ancestor but I would say Family is someone that is always there to guide and support you
regardless whether or not they are related by blood. Anh Do The Happiest Refugee is a strong
believer in family and how influencing they are to you as people. You can comprehend this from
reading his autobiography The Happiest Refuge from how much he talks about his wife, kids,
mother, and brother. In the autobiography, there comes a point in Anh s life where he is at
university but he finds a new passion, a passion for comedy but he believes his family would not

Chinese Jesuit Collaborations Before 1755
Chinese Jesuit collaborations before 1755
The collaboration of the Chinese and the Jesuits can be found in art since the Kangxi period
(康熙帝, r.1654 1722) in Qing China, and continued throughout the Yongzheng period
(й›ЌжЈеёќ, r.1722 1735) as well. Although the purpose of the missionaries was the spread their
religion in China, the Kangxi emperor was quick to realise that some of them were good artists. He
being a progressive thinker, thought it would be a good way to introduce his court artists, the Han
Chinese court painters (artisans), to new styles and techniques of painting from the west. This
might have been his way of glorifying his rule, and at the same time, embellish the palace with new
forms of art. The Jesuits had perfect knowledge of various techniques previously unknown to the
Chinese artists; the depiction of light and shade to suggest volume, theories of colour, the anatomy
of the human body, and a scientific perspective of the art of drawing and painting.
However, this interaction was not a one way street, the Jesuits learnt as much as they taught, from
the Chinese artists. The Chinese were not very forthcoming while adopting various techniques from
the foreigners, like that of chiaroscuro . The Chinese artist aimed at depicting the natural colour of
the object in ordinary daylight; on the other hand, the European artists depicted the colour of an
object according to the amount of light shining on different parts of it. To overcome this, the Jesuits

Maya Collapse
I. Introduction.
History of human is a long and mysterious journey to contemporary people to understand fully
about it. However, it can be described briefly that historical mankind has been mesmerized by the
narrative of progress and civilization as codified by the first great agrarian kingdoms (Scott 2011,
p.2). By replacing hunters gatherers and nomadic lifestyles with society of agriculture, people
witnessed the flourish of many early civilizations in Europe, Asia such as Mesopotamian
civilization, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, China dynasties, etc. Besides those big and famous
civilizations existed in Europe and Asia, owning to the discovery of American continent of
Christopher Columbus in 1492, one of the greatest civilizations ... Show more content on

2. Maya successful achievements.
Although Maya civilization shared many characteristic with other Mesoamerican civilizations due
to the high degree of interaction and cultural diffusion (Maya civilization, n.d.), it cannot be denied
that Maya was the most successful and advanced civilization with various accomplishments in art,
astronomy, architecture and writing system.
2.1. Art.
It is undeniable that Mayan art during the Classic era (from 250 AD to 900 AD) is of a high level
of aesthetic and artisanal sophistication (Maya civilization, n.d.). Approximately between 600 AD
and 800 AD, Mayan art witnessed an ever seen era of Maya sculptures (Annequin 1978, p214) with
many masterpieces containing greatly aesthetic sense. At this time, as Annequin (1978, p.215)
notified the Maya appear to have held the void in horror, and they often crammed surfaces until the
impression was overwhelming ; this inspired Mayans to produced much more things such as masks,
ceremonial rods, earrings, armlets and mittens by inserting elaborately flamboyant feathers. Besides
having talent in producing art of relief, Mayans also were experts in stucco at Palenque and
Comalco.

Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine
It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early
Modern Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress.
The reason this is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and
progress seemed to go hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power
led the way in discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the
progress of new worlds and opportunities. The invention of the printing presscontributed to
providing knowledge and therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand
and it was the progress of medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority
of European knowledge but also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge.
From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high
mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people
anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on
what was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health,
therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited .
However, while there was some progress in this field throughout the period it was not as drastic as
one would expect, the Galenic body of the four humours was still a dominant

The Importance Of Rescission And Restitution Of The Law Of...
REMEDIES
Rescission
A contract with missing required elements can be officiated void by the courts. Rescission
officially voids a contract.
In contract law, rescission has been defined as the unmaking of a contract between parties.
Rescission is the unwinding of a transaction. This is done to bring the parties, as far as possible,
back to the position in which they were before they entered into a contract. [6]
The contract between Debbie and Alan is VOID (SUPRA).
As such, the court will most likely rescind the contract and officially make it void.
Restitution
Restitution damages are money damages that are awarded to an innocent party to compensate for
the benefit that party gave. Restitution will always involve a loss to the innocent party that benefits
the other party.
Rescission and Restitution: the remedy of canceling a contract and making restitution to the
parties. The law of restitution is the law of gains based recovery. It is to be contrasted with the
law of compensation, which is the law of loss based recovery. When a court orders restitution it
orders the defendant to give up his/her gains to the claimant. When a court orders compensation it
orders the defendant to pay the claimant for his or her loss. Simply, the plaintiff will get the value
of whatever was conferred to the defendant when there was a contract. [7]
Here, the facts state that Debbie paid Alan $1,000 to purchase the stamp. Since, Debbie did not
receive consideration in return, it is

Pros And Cons Of Influenza Vaccines
The influenza or flu, is a respiratory infection that has A or B viruses. The symptoms include
soreness, cough, chills, fever, sweating, and most cold symptoms. A way to prevent the flu is to
get the influenza vaccination. Influenza vaccines are essential to all people because the flu can
be dangerously fatal to some people. But the real question is: should flu shots be mandatory for
nurses? As it was stated before, it is essential to all people. Which means all workers in the
hospital society should have to get it. Apprehending how the flu shot is inserted and how it works
is important. It is inserted by a syringe, and for people 3 years and older, the syringe should be
filled with an inoperative flu at approximately 0.5 mL. Two weeks... Show more content on

It is not likely for it to cause the Guillain Barre syndrome. The influenza vaccination may not be
100% effective for some people, but that does not mean it is not 100% effective for others. It
affects people differently because no one has the same strains. It is much smarter for people to
get the shot rather than taking a risk of getting the fatally dangerous virus. It should most
definitely be required for all healthcare workers, in any region, to get the flu vaccination or jab.
Anyone who wants to be a real doctor or nurse should not want to jeopardize their patients or even
their own family by putting them on the line of any virus. It should be considered selfish because
it is their job to keep their patients healthy and happy. The should protect them from any bacterial
diseases or viruses. This will probably always be argued in hospital arguments whether flu shots
should be mandatory for the workers. One thing for sure is that healthcare workers should always
put their patients

The Bombing Of Guernica By Pablo Ruiz Picasso
Guernica was painted on a canvas with oil by Pablo Ruiz Picasso in 1937. He was inspired by the
experimental bombing of Guernica in Spain by the Germans during the Spanish Civil War. The
Reina Sofia National Art Museum is the current home of this famous anti war painting.
Figure 1: Image from Reina Sofia National Art Museum
Pablo Picasso s painting is one of the most famous war paintings in history and a perfect artistic
response to war, because it depicts how all wars cause senseless acts of cruelty, overwhelming
sadness and despair of loss, and confusion of the lives amongst the chaos. Guernica illustrates
unnecessary crimes of cruelty by showing the dead child in its mother s arms, a woman being
burned alive, and animals being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Picasso s scheme of monochromatic colors of black is purposely done to show how dark war is.
Therefore, making people realize how death is a dark situation, not a light one. The points of
pain are painted light grey to emphasize desolation. Accordingly, he has the hole in the horse
shaded dark to portray emptiness. As the characters fling their heads back, their mouths are open
upward towards heaven as if they are crying out to God. He also details this by having the slain
man on the ground s hand facing upward and a flower growing out of his sword to symbolize hope
after death. Altogether, these elements show how war creates

Weather Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
Rain, heat, fog, the weather had an immense role in both the setting and symbolically. Like
Thomas Foster stated, weather is never just weather. It s never just rain. And that goes for snow,
sun, warmth, cold, and probably sleet. (Fos) Weather in The Great Gatsby is enriched with
meaning and impact to the novel and one example being when Gatsby and Daisy met again after
five years. The morning before Gatsby and Daisy were going to meet, after Nick secretly
arranged for Daisy to have tea with Gatsby in his house, Gatsby send for Nick s lawn to be
mowed and for a greenhouse to be set up in his Nick s house. At two minutes for four (Fit) Daisy
arrived and it was raining and before Daisy entered the house Gatsby went out through the back...

Additionally, another weather forecast that had an impact was the mist that formed in the bay that
divided Gatsby s and Daisy s houses. On the day that Gatsby and Daisy reunited and they and
Nick went on a tour of Gatsby house, they all went to the dock and Gatsby stated If it wasn t for
the mist we could see your home across the bay (Fit), You always have a green light that burns
all night at the end of your dock (Fit). The green light represents Gatsby s dreams he haves for
his future and having Daisy is one of them, so when the mist/fog is dividing his house and Daisy s
house the readers will probably think that it represents that because Daisy is with him, Gatsby
reached his green light. Thomas Foster stated, Fog, for instance. It almost always signals some sort
of confusion (Fos), and with that being said the mist covering the green light at the end of Daisy s
dock represents confusion within Gatsby because even though Daisy is next to him at the time, he
knows that she is still not truly his.
Furthermore, the big conflict, the climax happens on one of the hottest days the characters
experienced in the novel and there is a purpose for that. The heat oppressive, the sun destructive
(Fos), said Thomas Foster. On the day that Gatsby and Daisy where going to tell Tom that they
wanted to be together, that s when Daisy started to complaining and saying that it s so hot (Fit) on
the verge of tears (Fit) and that they shall all go to town, they got in

  • 2. Water Simulation Lab Report Introduction Water is the most abundant resource on the planet and is one that is vital to all living organisms. Plants especially depend greatly on water and contain structures in their body in order to use the water efficiently. Water relations is a research field that deals with investigating how environmental factors affect the plant s usage of the water (Bot 201L lab manual, 2016). A study was conducted to see how low water in the soil affected the uptake of water in Alfalfa leaves and if it had any effect on the plant s photosynthesisrate. (Abid et al, 2016). It was found that there was a correlation between the photosynthesis rate and the amount of water the leaves would uptake since the stomata on the alfalfa leaves would remain closed (Abid et al, 2016). Since the stomata would close more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stomata closure is a coping strategy that plants use when there is low water available in the soil which prevents cavitation in the vessels of the xylem (Huber, 2015). It is also found that stomatal closure not only helps regulate transpiration in plants that have low water availability, but it also increases its water use efficiency (Huber, 2015). Wind is also considered to be a factor that affects transpiration in plants. Another study observed the effects of stomatal distribution (such as amphistomatous leaves) in leaves of a plant in low wind environments (Foster, 1986). The experiment found that amphistomatous leaves had the greatest transpiration rate at low wind speeds while hyperstomatous leaves had a higher transpiration rate than the hypostomatous leaves (Foster, 1986). Leaves contain what is called a boundary layer that can be defined as a still layer of fluid containing gasses and liquid that surround the leaf that affects the movement of CO2 and water in the leaves depending on its thickness (Bot 201L lab manual, 2016). In this study, the effects of wind will be observed on the transpiration rate and stomatal conductance in the leaves of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Animal Welfare And Relative Welfare Organic Animal Welfare By Jason Hubing University of Wisconsin River Falls ANSC 115 Animal Welfare Dr. Kurt Vogel Scientific Journal Report #2 12/16/2014 Introduction Much can be said about animal welfare, many aspects are relatively new. New topics and avenues of potential research are constantly surfacing. For starters, one idea I m going to attempt to tackle is an ethical one. Subjective at best in my opinion, it usually doesn t warrant serious scientific research. The topics I m suggesting are organic welfare and relative welfare. I m talking about the range of emotions animals have and how they can be interpreted to best adapt an animal s environment to maximize their welfare. Several institutions would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A consumer could be more inclined to purchase/use a product if they can believe that their product lived a full and happy life. The same criteria can be said for a prospective pet, an owner would want an all around healthy companion that can display a full range of emotion during the course of its life. Welfare can certainly be relative when you take into account the definition in context. I m going to pose an argument that for instance an organically raised, grass fed cow can claim a higher quality welfare than a stock cow; one that has been raised in a warehouse, outside of a natural frame of reference (conditions the animal could exist in with minimal human intervention). I ll even go so far as to say the physical presence of the sun may be a vital component in welfare. It has been documented that lack of sun exposure can lead to vitamin D, and calcium deficiency, various diseases because of that and even depression.[5] The definition of welfare can be measured by the accumulation of positive and negative experiences. Objectively weighing the satisfaction of every need (and possibly want) of the animal in question versus; illnesses, pain, abnormal behavior, and chronic stress, etc. Through these objective measures, an animal s level of wellbeing can be properly gauged. [3] This makes it fairly easy to measure welfare since each of these events or categories probably has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One such treatment is known as conductive education (CE). The basic idea is that people with motor disorders (e.g. cerebral palsy) may have special learning disabilities on top of their motor impairments (Darrah et al., 2003). While initial results seemed promising, two reviews showed that many of the studies produced conflicting results, and that more robust studies were needed in order to come to a conclusion about CE (Forssberg et al., 2000; Darrah et al., 2003). One of the most exciting treatments being discussed and researched currently is neurotoxic protein Botulinum toxin type A (BoTN A). By injecting BoNT A into spastic muscles, one can potentially reduce the spasticity present from 3 6 months (Simpson et al., 2008; Scholtes et al., 2006; Dai et al., 2008; Yang et al., 2008). It does this by weakening the muscle that it is injected into, effectively relaxing the stiff muscles in cerebral palsy (Bihari, 2005). Additionally, BoNT A injections can increase the motor functionality of a patient and reduce or prevent deformity (Apkon Cassidy, 2010). The effects are reversible, so after this time period has passed, BoNT A must be reinjected into the muscle. The main focus of the injections are for spastic or dystonic muscles. Some, though, have shown that whilst BoNT A injections are helpful in the upper and lower extremities, there is conflicting evidence regarding motor function (Delgado et al., 2010). How do the three convergences affect you? The first convergence deals with engaging people from around the globe and being able to communicate. When a design change is needed I could send email and use video chat to have meetings to discuss what changes my company would need. Game of Thrones is a series on HBO adapted from the book by George R. R. Martin that has a number of politically charged issues. The show takes precedence in a land called The Seven Kingdoms composed of several territories most notable being Westeros. It takes place during the War of 5 Kings where several opposing factions vie for rule of the Iron Throne (King of the Seven Kingdoms ) located in Westeros. During this civil war there is a force in the North beyond the walls that civilized men from The Seven Kingdoms built to hold an ominous (nightwalkers) force outside their realm. In the show a number of actors points of view are followed. The viewer watches alliances, trust, deception, fortune, and skill come into play. This spiral of conflict for possession of the throne started when King Robert Baratheon became ill and died. However, turmoil for the Iron Throne is nothing new for the land since it had not long ago been ruled by the Mad King Targaryen whose lineage had ruled the throne for long reign. Along with her words, she uses structure, tone and imagery to convey her belief that white people and black peoplesee their personal life experiences differently. Wealth for black people is love, family, and togetherness, not tangible items. A sense of community and acceptance of one another are more valuable than having even a private toilet. The author combines the use of images with blunt word combinations to make her point. For example, you always remember things like living in Woodlawn/with no inside toilet (line 3). This image evokes the warmth of remembering a special community with the negative of having to use outdoor facilities. Another example of this combination of tone and imagery is how good the water felt/ when you got your bath from one/ of those/ big tubs that folk in chicago barbecue in (line 9). Again, the poet s positive memory of feeling fresh after her bath is combined with the fact that she had to bathe in a barbecue drum. Images are vital to the poem s meaning. They evoke the reader s emotions and show us that love is more valuable than all things, and money does not define happiness. This is demonstrated by the images as well as the tone of the poem. The author shares though you re poor it isn t poverty that/ concerns you/ and though they fought a lot/ it isn t your father s drinking that makes any difference/ but only that everybody is together (line 23 24). Next, I would lead by example by being receptive to each child s personal space and needs. This would include looking for facial cues and evaluating their actions to determine what a child would benefit from. Responsibility can be demonstrated by being accountable for both my successes and mistakes. For example, if I realized that I gave incorrect information, I would be honest about it to my students. Lastly, service can be displayed by going above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. This could mean staying before or after school to mentor a student, or making a point to give constructive positive feedback to every student. At first, Marie and Pierre Curie believed that perhaps the atom was covered with cosmic rays. Marie tested numerous elements to find if other ones than Uranium would make the air conduct electricity better. Pierre was so interested in Marie s work, that he joined forces with her. Her research had revealed that two uranium ores, pitchblende and chalcolite were much more radioactive that pure uranium. Marie concluded that the highly radioactive nature of these ores may possibly be due to undiscovered elements. In July of 1898, Marie and Pierre Cure discovered Polonium. They named the element after Marie s birth country, Poland. Chemically, this new element was very similar to bismuth, but it contained radioactivity, so it must be new. In December of 1898, the Curie s discovered yet another element. They named this one radium, from the Latin word for ray. The two new elements had completely different chemical properties, but they both had very strong radioactivity. It was not easy for Marie and Pierre to convince the science community of their new findings. Marie succeeded in separating the radium from the barium, but it wasn t easy. To help me understand how technology has changed, I interviewed my grandmother about the changes in her lifetime. Throughout her life, she has witnessed many technological changes around the world. One change that has occurred in her lifetime is the color TV. When she was born, color TVs existed, however, none of the channels broadcasted in color. It was until she was in her 20s when stations began to transition into color television. She also told me that when she was younger, they would find out the news through newspapers a day or two after the event occurred. However, today we can hit a button on our phones and we ll receive notifications moments after an event has occurred. Lastly, she told me about the first cell phones. She said that the first cell phones were called Brick Phones because they were the size of brick. However, cell phones today are much smaller, and can fit into your pocket. After talking to her about some changes in her life, I asked her how she felt about changes in technology. She said, I m all for progress in technology. However, sometimes it can be very scary because it feels like it s of of your control. For example with computers, they can have security safeguards, but hackers keep getting smarter and can access our computer easily. I do though like the progress with regards to safer cars, better appliances, and especially better medical technology for our health care. Based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The purpose of this evidence based practice (EBP) project was to educate ED nurses on compassion fatigue (CF) risk factors, causes, and symptoms as well as assist them in its identification among each other and within themselves. Further, the project sought to provide nurses with skills in order to prevent CF. A two hour workshop consisting of a PowerPoint presentation was implemented in a busy emergency department on the coast of NJ. Teaching nurses about compassion fatigueand ways in which to alleviate and prevent it were stressed. Self regulation and self care practices were introduced using interactive activities. Over the next four weeks, emails were sent reiterating self care and self regulatory techniques. A Pretest posttest design used the Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL) measure to determine if burnout and secondary traumatic stress (both components of CF) and compassion satisfaction improved from the workshop. A comparative means analysis showed a decline in CF. Keywords: Compassion fatigue, compassion satisfaction, self regulation, self care, Emergency department nursing. Hummingbirds, unlike most other animals, do not find their food source based on smell. Because of this, brightly colored plants and feeders are what attract the tiny creatures to your garden. Red is the best color to attract them. Keeping a clean, full feeder provides hummingbirds with the energy they need to keep flying around your garden and to other stops on their feeding route. The sugar water solution, however, is not their main food source. Hummingbirds actually get the nutrients and proteins they need for survival from soft bodied spiders and tiny insects on the plants in your garden. The traditional sugar/water solution calls for one part sugar to four parts water. Do not boil the water to make syrup. Just mix it in room temperature water. Some gardeners have experimented with solutions that have a higher concentration of sugar to water. There is no research to show that high concentrated solutions of sugar harms the hummingbirds. But there are a myriad of consequences to this system. Factory farms do whatever they can to be cost efficient. This leads to a waste of energy, harmful effects on the environment, cruel animal treatment, and negative effects on human health, and therefore, factory farming should be abolished. Lots of energy is wasted in factory farming. When farming with animals, companies have to feed the cattle and livestock. The energy put into feeding the cows is often wasted, because energy is lost when the cow is killed. Converting grain into meat entails a large loss of food energy, particularly if cattle are doing the converting. Conservatives estimates are that cattle require 7 kg of grain to create 1 kg of beef, (Horrigan, Lawrence, Walker 448). If fewer cows were being killed for food consumption, less energy would be wasted. For every 100kg of beef made, 700kg are grain are needed to feed the animal. The ratio that every one kg of beef requires seven times the amount of energy to produce it is wasteful when the outcome is so small. Chinese Jesuit Collaborations Before 1755 Chinese Jesuit collaborations before 1755 The collaboration of the Chinese and the Jesuits can be found in art since the Kangxi period (康熙帝, r.1654 1722) in Qing China, and continued throughout the Yongzheng period (й›ЌжЈеёќ, r.1722 1735) as well. Although the purpose of the missionaries was the spread their religion in China, the Kangxi emperor was quick to realise that some of them were good artists. He being a progressive thinker, thought it would be a good way to introduce his court artists, the Han Chinese court painters (artisans), to new styles and techniques of painting from the west. This might have been his way of glorifying his rule, and at the same time, embellish the palace with new forms of art. The Jesuits had perfect knowledge of various techniques previously unknown to the Chinese artists; the depiction of light and shade to suggest volume, theories of colour, the anatomy of the human body, and a scientific perspective of the art of drawing and painting. However, this interaction was not a one way street, the Jesuits learnt as much as they taught, from the Chinese artists. The Chinese were not very forthcoming while adopting various techniques from the foreigners, like that of chiaroscuro . The Chinese artist aimed at depicting the natural colour of the object in ordinary daylight; on the other hand, the European artists depicted the colour of an object according to the amount of light shining on different parts of it. To overcome this, the Jesuits devised ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Art. It is undeniable that Mayan art during the Classic era (from 250 AD to 900 AD) is of a high level of aesthetic and artisanal sophistication (Maya civilization, n.d.). Approximately between 600 AD and 800 AD, Mayan art witnessed an ever seen era of Maya sculptures (Annequin 1978, p214) with many masterpieces containing greatly aesthetic sense. At this time, as Annequin (1978, p.215) notified the Maya appear to have held the void in horror, and they often crammed surfaces until the impression was overwhelming ; this inspired Mayans to produced much more things such as masks, ceremonial rods, earrings, armlets and mittens by inserting elaborately flamboyant feathers. • 45. Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early Modern Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress. The reason this is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and progress seemed to go hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power led the way in discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the progress of new worlds and opportunities. The invention of the printing presscontributed to providing knowledge and therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand and it was the progress of medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority of European knowledge but also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge. From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on what was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health, therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited . However, while there was some progress in this field throughout the period it was not as drastic as one would expect, the Galenic body of the four humours was still a dominant ... • 46. The Importance Of Rescission And Restitution Of The Law Of... REMEDIES Rescission A contract with missing required elements can be officiated void by the courts. Rescission officially voids a contract. In contract law, rescission has been defined as the unmaking of a contract between parties. Rescission is the unwinding of a transaction. This is done to bring the parties, as far as possible, back to the position in which they were before they entered into a contract. [6] The contract between Debbie and Alan is VOID (SUPRA). As such, the court will most likely rescind the contract and officially make it void. Restitution Restitution damages are money damages that are awarded to an innocent party to compensate for the benefit that party gave. Restitution will always involve a loss to the innocent party that benefits the other party. Rescission and Restitution: the remedy of canceling a contract and making restitution to the parties. The law of restitution is the law of gains based recovery. It is to be contrasted with the law of compensation, which is the law of loss based recovery. When a court orders restitution it orders the defendant to give up his/her gains to the claimant. When a court orders compensation it orders the defendant to pay the claimant for his or her loss. Simply, the plaintiff will get the value of whatever was conferred to the defendant when there was a contract. [7] Here, the facts state that Debbie paid Alan $1,000 to purchase the stamp. Influenza vaccines are essential to all people because the flu can be dangerously fatal to some people. But the real question is: should flu shots be mandatory for nurses? As it was stated before, it is essential to all people. Which means all workers in the hospital society should have to get it. Apprehending how the flu shot is inserted and how it works is important. It is inserted by a syringe, and for people 3 years and older, the syringe should be filled with an inoperative flu at approximately 0.5 mL. Two weeks... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It should most definitely be required for all healthcare workers, in any region, to get the flu vaccination or jab. Anyone who wants to be a real doctor or nurse should not want to jeopardize their patients or even their own family by putting them on the line of any virus. It should be considered selfish because it is their job to keep their patients healthy and happy. The should protect them from any bacterial diseases or viruses. The green light represents Gatsby s dreams he haves for his future and having Daisy is one of them, so when the mist/fog is dividing his house and Daisy s house the readers will probably think that it represents that because Daisy is with him, Gatsby reached his green light. Thomas Foster stated, Fog, for instance. It almost always signals some sort of confusion (Fos), and with that being said the mist covering the green light at the end of Daisy s dock represents confusion within Gatsby because even though Daisy is next to him at the time, he knows that she is still not truly his.
