Judging People Research Paper
We live in a society that is solely focused on appearance and how we look to others. Look at the
people around you and what is the first thing you notice? You might see their hair color, skin
tone, and their clothing. Though while you are doing that you could be making silent
observations. Why do we do that? People say away from the people who look dangerous and
people will like the people who are attractive. Though when it comes to judging appearance it s
something that is a part of our lives. Is it good? Is it bad? When humans judge one another it comes
from an evolutionary adaptation, however in modern times with a structured society it is not
acceptable to do so.

Our mind should avoid the impulse of determining the causes of events until a wide range of
evidence is gathered and assessed from many different sources and traditions. (Torres, Raymond.
Why Judging by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d.
Web. 14 Jan. 2017.) We are quick to make judgements on people s lives completely based on how
we see them at that particular moment. One can make the assumption that you are lazy if you
come into work late or not properly dressed. Though they don t know the true story, you could be
having an off day or something is currently happening in your life. Humans are so focused on
being right on our observations that when we told something other than what we think we refuse
to believe it. Raymond Torrs states that, It s hard to understand the nature of other people or the
natural world, if all we really care to know is any and everything that comes out of our own mind.
This attitude constrains our ability to find out more about any issue. We assume that just because
we call something for what it is or what we think it is, that there isn t a composite of underlying
and interactive factors responsible for our observations. (Torres, Raymond. Why Judging by
Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan.
2017.) We shouldn t make simple judgements on people by external appearance because it is
superficial and often unfair. After all, you don t know what circumstances the person might be
facing or who the person really is. Perhaps the person comes from a less fortunate family than you
and cannot afford the kind of stylish clothes your friends wear. However, that does not mean the
person is less intelligent or interesting than you are. People have the lack of discernment which

The Negative Impacts Of Plastic Uses And Plastics
A Cuvier s beaked whale was put down after finding four kilograms of plastic bags in every part
of its stomach. The internal damage caused by the bags included an inflamed stomach and
intestinal walls ( Plastic Bags Found ). Tragically, this is not the only story of plastic bags
harming wildlife. Another story like this occurred less than two months later. Wildlife is suffering
daily because plastic bags are interfering with their habitat. Because they are harmful to the
environment, plastic bags should be banned. Plastic bags cannot be recycled, so they end up
decomposing in landfills for hundreds of years. A great alternative is reusable bags that can also be
recycled. The plastic bags single use does not outweigh the negative impact that they have on the
environment and wildlife.
Every year, Americans use 70 to 100 million plastic bags according to Patricia Smith. To put it
into perspective, each family in America uses an average of 1,700 plastic bags a year. Each of
these plastic bags is used once, and then unfortunately, tossed into the trash. From the trash, the
plastic bags eventually end up in a landfill, where it takes hundreds of years to decompose.
Otherwise, plastic bags end up as litter. Littered plastic bags are everywhere, from corn fields to
the ocean. Animals all over the world often mistake these plastic bags as food. They consume the
bags and die from complications as a result. Recycling plastic bags is not an option either. Plastic
bags are one of the

A Discussion On Ethical Theories
5.0 Following up discussions based on ethical theories
After discussing ethical dilemmas from individual and corporation aspects, we bring ethical
discussions from four major points according to ethical theories introduced in the background
section: social duty, consequence, law and culture.
5.1 Social Duty
Happy Meal , a specialized meal marketed at children from McDonald s contains main item such
as a hamburger, a side item like french fries, a drink, and most important, a toy. 20% of
McDonald s sales is from toys, it has become one of the largest US toy distributors. McDonald s
uses popular characters such as minions or Hello Kitty to attract children to their happy meal.
Because of these toys, McDonald s became the most popular American kid s restaurant. Some
children even ask for Happy Meal only for the toys. Because Happy Meal is the most popular fast
food product, McDonald is big extend has a significant relationship with American childhood
obesity.
Is the Happy Meal ethical or not? According to Kant s theory, which includes that people have the
duty to not physically harm others, McDonald s behavior is unethical. Because as a fast food
company, McDonald s targets children by using toys and selling them fast food which make
children obese and make far lasting impacts on those children s dietary habits.
But from McDonald s aspect, they provide healthier choice by changing the french fires to apple
slides, and they also provides all the nutritional facts for

The Learning Organisation
Organisational learning and learning organisations have been the focus of a great deal of evaluation
within management literature since the 1990 s (Senge, 1990; Michaux, 2002). This paper aims to
define and critically evaluate the concept of a learning organisation by drawing on the writings of
core authors to both support and demonstrate criticisms of the learningorganisation concept.
The Learning Organisation
Organisational learning is a continual process whereby an organisation adapts to its environment by
constantly improving performance through evolving knowledge and understanding by its members
and the organisation (Hartel, Strybosch Blyth, 2006). A learning organisation, on the other hand, is
an organisation which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The level of organisational learning required by an organisation will be dependent on its own
distinctive characteristics and considering the type of organisation and its operating environment, it
may not always be beneficial for an organisation to be a learning organisation (Hartel et al. 2006:
292).
The concept of the learning organisation gained wide acceptance from the works of Peter Senge
who is most well known for his body of work entailed The Fifth Discipline. Here, Senge (1990: 3)
introduces the notion of systems thinking and defines a learning organisation as one where people
continually expand their capacity to create the results they truly desire, where new and expansive
patterns of thinking are nurtured, where collective aspiration is set free, and where people are
continually learning to see the whole together . However, the concept of systems thinking has been
around since the 1950 s but it was not until Senge s writings that it gained popularity and
momentum.
Whilst it is necessary for an organisation to apply adaptive or survival learning an example which
would be adapting to changes in the current environment, Senge (1990) asserts that a true learning
organisation is characterised by generative learning which is learning that enhances its capacity to
innovate and create. Generative learning and the

Death, Be Not Proud, And On The Death Of Richard West
Pop culture icon and music sensation Kanye West once said, Nothing in life is promised, except
death. Death can be interpreted in many different ways; some people fear death, while others view
death as the pathway to eternal life. Death is a guaranteed and an unavoidable part of life, and it
can have varying impacts on people, whether they are positive or negative. Death is an intriguing
topic often found in poetry. John Donnes Holy Sonnets: Death, Be Not Proud, William Shakespeare
s Sonnet73, and Thomas Gray s On the Death of Richard West discuss the topic of death and
impart their own opinions of death. John Donne s metaphysical poem and sonnet, Holy Sonnets:
Death, Be Not Proud, follows a Petrarchan rhyme scheme as seen in the first eight lines: a/b/b/a/a
/b/b/a. Unlike the quintessential sestet of c/e/f/g/e/f, the sestet of this sonnet has a c/d/d/c/a/a
rhyme scheme. The use of a Petrarchan rhyme scheme is appropriate because the first twelve lines...

Apostrophe is used from the beginning, as the speaker talks to Death as if he a real human and
can respond back to him, referring to him as poor Death (Donne 3). In addition, the speaker
personifies Death by giving him attributes, such as mighty and dreadful (2). The speaker uses a
metaphor to compare Death to rest and sleep (5), which provide much pleasure undermining
Death and the fear of it. The speaker contradicts himself in many ways: according to him, Death
thinks he can kill people, but the speaker argues against that saying nor yet canst thou kill me (4),
acknowledging his keen sense of mortality. He further contradicts himself by discussing his
eternal life after his short sleep (13). Microcosm is used as Death represents the bigger picture of
eternity in heaven, as the speaker says, One short sleep past, we wake eternally / And death shall be

Hemostasis Research Paper
Hemostasis is the process that causes bleeding to stop. It also changes blood from a liquid to a
gel. It consists of three processes, vascular spasm, platelet plug formation and blood coagulation.
Vascular spasm is the first step in heeling in the wound. Vascular spasm is when the damaged
blood vessels constrict due to tightening of muscle cells on the inside wall. This helps decrease
bloodflow, thus minimizing blood loss. Then plateletplug formation occurs. This is when platelets
adhere to the damaged endothelium and form a plug. Normally platelets do not stick to the
endothelial lining but during an injury collagen is exposed. The exposed collagen activates the
platelets to stick together and form a plug. Once the platelets are stuck together

Did you enjoy the movie Life of Pi ? Lots do but did you know about what happened to the
bengal tiger, behind scenes? the bengal tiger during the making of the movie almost drowned and
the producer and crew said to not tell anybody especially the office. thats a major danger, just like
abuse, poor living conditions and effects from stress. animals don t deserve the pain and abuse they
get from movie sets.
stress can tear apart an animal from the inside out, and when they are on movie set that can be
stressful for animals. if an animal has to do a lot of tricks or performances on a movie, that can
be very stressful. stress can also cause depression and hypertension for an animal. there physical
and emotional attitude can slowly be brought down and slowly kill them inside to out. also stress
will destroy their kidneys and eyes, very common in cats and dogs mostly. stress effects a human

The Election Of President Elect
Every four years, in early November, American s head to the polls to vote for the next president of
the nation. After a lengthy two years of campaigning and debating, America s votes were cast and
Donald Trump became the nation s president elect. Interestingly, Trump did not win the popular
vote, he had two million less votes than his Democratic opposition, Hillary Clinton. Due to the use
of the electoral college, Trump managed to win more states and more battleground states than
Clinton, and thus won the electoral college vote. This electionand its results have been a whirlwind
of emotions for both Trump and Clinton supporters. Regardless of the outcome, the greatest part
about knowing who the president elect is, is that this election has finally come to a halt.
What is noteworthy about his campaign is that Donald Trump ran his differently from the average
politician. Trump both acted differently and spoke of people in whichever manner he pleased.
Surprisingly, American s thrived off of his ability to stand tall and remain true to himself. The main
argument in this election between Clinton and Trump supporters was how they were more
offended by Clinton s actions than Trump s words. No matter what Trump said, his followers still
thought of him in a positive manner.
First of all, Donald Trump ran his campaign, in the kindest of words, unconventionally. He had no
filter in debates, in rallies and on his social media platforms. While speaking one s mind honestly is

Dollar General Corporation has been delivering value to shoppers for over 75 years. With more

Employees Regular employees are not that well paid but they are Ok. Since most of their stores
are located in rural areas, they are able to have employees for cheaper wages. 4. Respect In a
way, people in rural areas do not have the experience of buying higher quality products. Most of
those Brands being sold by them are either lesser known ones or, specially made with discounted
prices by cutting corners. For example if I buy a Brut Deodorant for a $ 1.00, it s quality
wouldn t be the same as the one that I would buy from Maycees. Same goes with other products.
In terms of Respect, they need to respect the intelligence of the customer. So, those Brands
mentioned in their website is an eyewash and is of inferior quality. 5. Opportunity Certainly
there is a good opportunity for buying cheaper products. Most goods are bought in large
volumes and factories in poorer countries are compelled to offer cheaper prices to keep their
factories running with that kind of bulk buying. DG does not require a factory to be Audited and
certified for quality standards and social compliance. Their products are sourced from the lowest
priced, low standard small factories based in rural areas that usually employ child labour. These
factories are able to produce cheap items because they do not have to add additional costs of being
a compliant factory. This results in cheaper items coming to their shelves and being passed onto an
unsuspecting customer. Their introduction does not reflect their mission statement for the above
given reasons in terms of : Respect, a better life for customers, superior returns for

A lot of credit card debt can lower your credit rating.
Alternate Text
Group
Your credit score is a complicated mix of factors, such as how much you owe, how timely your
payments are, the kind of credit you have and how long you ve had that credit. Rating companies
use proprietary formulas to come up with your credit score, which is used to determine how credit
worthy you are. Lenders use this to decide whether to loan you money and, if they make the loan,
how high your interest rate will be. Paying off your debts can help to raise your credit score and
make it easier for you to get new credit, such as a mortgage or a new car loan. Exactly how much
paying off a credit card helps you varies, but there is no question that paying off even a single card
will help.
FICO
The Fair Isaac Company is one of the most commonly used sources of credit ratings, a number
often referred to as your FICO score. While the company won t reveal exactly how they come up
with the number, the company s consumer information page reports that 35 percent of your FICO
score is based on whether your payments are made on time, and 30 percent of it is determined by
how much money you owe to creditors. Changing either of these two things can have a ... Show

Generally, the higher your credit score, the more damage a negative account can do. Every
maxed out credit card you have can drop your credit score by anywhere from 10 to 45 points,
depending on where your score started. It stands to reason that completely paying off a maxed out
credit card can raise your score by the same amount. If you have a lot of debt and pay off a credit
card with a small balance, it may only improve your FICO score by a few points. Still, any increase
is to your benefit. If you pay off a larger credit card balance that substantially reduces your level of
debt, it will increase your score

Prior to reading the article I had an idea of what shingles was, and heard some information

which is actually the same virus that produces chickenpoxthat produces a painful skin rash within
the host. Since shingles is a part of the herpes family it usually appears as a strip of blisters
anywhere on the body. Another interesting fact that I came across within the article, was that a host
with shingles is able to provide direct transmission of the chickenpox s with the help of an open

The Influence Of Ancient Greek Culture
Ancient Greece often feels familiar in a strange way. From the spoils of Achilles (hero in the poem
The Iliad), to the Trojan War, from perfect measurements of the Parthenon to the amazing flawless
sculptures, Greek culture has uniquely and indirectly shaped our world. Thankfully the large eye
catching archaeological sites, impact of Hollywood and the literary sources, Greek art and culture
is embedded in our consciousness, arising visions of erudite philosophers, epic battles and limbless
nude sculptures that decorated the sparkling white temples.
Distributed around the Mediterranean Sea, the ancient Greece was united by its culture and art.
What further strengthened these bonds were the so called festivals and sanctuaries that embraced
and encouraged competition and interaction. Although most of the understating of ancient Greece

Martin Luther s Influence On Catholicism
For a long time Catholicism was the dominant religion. If you were not a catholic then you did not
go to church, or at least church with a lot of people. Then came a man named Martin Luther. Martin
threw a curveball in the Catholic Church s plan. He pointed out the indulgences being sold by the
Roman Catholic churchto fund new buildings and new things for the pope and bishops to have.
Lutheranism is a religion based off of Catholicism with changes done by Martin Luther, a German
Monk and Theologian, he made his points with the 95 theses, and it exposed all the flaws with the
catholic church. Martin Luther was born November 10, 1483 to Hans and Margethe Luther in

The ELS was formed in 1918. They have about 21,000 members in the church today. They are a
very conservative lutheran church. They are with the WELS in fellowship, because of their
similar beliefs. The CLC also know as the Church of Lutheran Confession, was formed in 1963.
The Church was formed because of a break up of the Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference
of North America, due to a disagreement about the church principles. The CLC believes that the
bible is the only thing you can look to for religion. The Lutheran Church as a whole has over 72

the 72 are in America. In America the largest clusters of Lutherans are in the Midwest and in the

Catholicism differs from Lutheranism with two main flaws. The flaws that existed back in the
1500s still exist today. The first is how is one saved and be able to enter heaven? The Lutherans
believe that the scripture tells us our fate. A good quote from the bible that Lutherans use a lot is

Summary Of Stanley Milgram s 1963 Obedience Study
In Week 1, students focused on research ethics and whether (or not) social psychologist Stanley
Milgram s 1963 obedience study was ethical (Mason, 2018). Milgram organized the study because
he wanted to know how people might become strongly influenced against their personal moral and
belief structures (Mason, 2018). Roscoe argued that Milgram s 1983 disobedience study was
completely ethical because the organizer pre advised subjects as to the voluntary nature of the
research and because deception is justified within psychological research. Roscoe also declared that
no Milgram study participant experienced any negative long term psychological effect.
Additionally, Roscoe contended that all subjects were told, post study, that the administered... Show

Milgram s obedience paradigm is widely accepted to have arisen from an inclination to surrender
responsibility to authoritarian figures (Reicher, Haslam, Smith, 2012). However, this paradigm
must be held suspect because of blatant ethical considerations weakening conclusions.
Fundamentally, Milgram s was responsible for protecting his subjects. He did not protect them. He
chose to use deceptive methods, which led to short term trauma and possibly long term, according
to at least one participant. The outcome could have been far worse, with participants succumbing to

It s Time to Move Beyound Race Essay
In Michael Omi and Howard Winant s essay Racial Formation , we see how the tendency to
assign each individual a specific race as misleading. This essay suggests that race is not merely
biological, but rather lays more in sociology and historical perspective. Once we look at someone
and say, They re white , it brings forth all the stereotype s that go along with that race , and once
the race is assigned, it is assumed that we can know something about the person.
Indeed, if we were to accept that people do fall nicely into specific races, it would seem to ascribe a
sort of universality to the group. In other words, if a black man from Kenya was raised in Chicago,

Americans, though viewed as somewhat unruly, were still able to enter and run for public office
because of naturalization laws of the late nineteenth century. Once it was established in the United
States that there were competing groups out there in the labor force, namely African, Asian, Latin,
and Mexican Americans, it became advantageous to draw a color line to create a large group, those
of lighter skin color, to raise and continue to hold the power through numbers and mass alone.
Once it becomes established that a group s tendencies are of a natural prescription, as in the
Ethnic Notions film, and once the greater society adheres to the simple guidelines fed to them, the
argument is then taken out of the minority group s hands. Immutable then would describe the
group lacking power enough to break the stereotype. This social construction of race, one that
lumps a mass of people into an ambiguous category, becomes an enigma. In order for the group to
break free from this, they must acquire a perspective, but their morale is so beaten that they are
happy to have any place in the society, so the enigma grows. One thing is evident; we could

Eva s Pastries Research Paper
If I were a proud owner of a new bakery shop, it would be called Eva s Pastries. My bakery would
be opened within a school district on Staten Island. The location of my bakery would play an
important factor to my target market; the reason why I chose to open it within a school district is
to attract the age range of the students attending the schools, as well as the parents of the students.
The convenience of my bakery being opened within the school s range is to provide the students a

The Stem Field Is No Stranger For Advancement And Innovation
The STEM field is no stranger to advancement and innovation. In a thriving age of technology
and science, one could argue that the United States (and many countries throughout the world)
have progressed a long way from the outdated technologies that were used in past decades. Yet,
despite the vast progress made in the stem fields, the demographics of STEM workers are still
highly outdated with its lack of racial and gender diversity. As a result of the growing number of
jobs in STEM, organizations such as Black Girls Code are making steps to prepare minorities for
these careers.
The founder of Black Girls Code, Kimberly Bryant, experienced what she calls cultural isolation
during her collegiate years and throughout her career as an electrical engineer. Bryant recalls seeing
very few faces like her own and felt that there was a void in the STEM field that needed to be filled
by the presence of black women. Bryant acknowledges that the lack of black females in STEM is
not due to a lack of interest in the sciences, but is instead due to a lack of resources and lack of
exposure provided to black girls during early education. She set out to meet this need and, thus,
Black Girls Code was created.
Black Girls Code is an organization focused on increasing the number of black girls in the STEM
field. They do so by training black girls, ages 7 to 17, in the field of computer science, also known
as coding. By launching Black Girls Code, stated Bryant, I hope to provide young and

addicts and substance abusers. Similar to those who choose to end their life, the issue will remain
persistent only just at a reduce minimum (Vidal). Realizing that due to a substances illegalization,

Pollitt s Argumentative Essay
She urged the society to stop blaming women for making such decisions, We don t think that
women have the right to self, they are supposed to live for others (p.17). She also discussed the
true social benefits of abortion rights and forced her readers to think about real life
consequences of pregnancies under different circumstances. What about pregnancies resulting
from rape or incest? What about the choice that a mom possesses over bringing a fetus with
profound abnormalities? Pollitt does not wish for any rules or exceptions to be imposed; no
blame or shame or moral judgment she only demands the freedom of choice for every woman. It
is the same society including doctors, nurses and clinics that risk their lives to help and save a
woman, but at the same time blame her and call her baby killer and interfere in her most private
personal choice about her own body. Pollitt ended her reclaims on abortionrights, by accusing the
pro choice movement to fell down on the job (p.14). They couldn t represent the effective message
over the years and this is what requires an immediate change. Only by reclaiming abortion as a
fundamental right and a normal part of health care, Pollitt hopes to win the debate. While women

Italian American Cultural Values Based Off Hofstede s...
Today, Italian American is the fifth largest ethnic group in America. A huge amount of Italian
population migrated to America between the late nineteenth century and World War I. Between
1900 1915, 3 million Italians immigrated to America, which was the largest nationality of New
Immigrants (Cohen, 1986). New Immigrants consisted of Slavs(Slaves), Jews, and Italians. The
New Immigration is the third and largest wave of immigration from Europe, and Italians were
categorized as one of the New Immigrants . From 1890 onward, the number of Italian immigrants
increased rapidly throughout the nation. From 1880 1924, more than 4 million Italians immigrated
to America (Will, n.d.). These immigrants, mainly artisans and peasants, represented all regions of
Italy, but most of them came from the Southern Italy. We have conducted some research and an
interview about the history of the Italian immigration; their cultural values based off Hofstede s
value orientation; what shapes the identity of Italian Americans; the verbal and nonverbal
communication of this cultural group; as well as what conflict management styles are used in this
culture, and how they handle conflict. Why did Italians immigrate to America? According to the
information on mtholyoke.edu, Italian immigration was fueled by dire poverty. After the Italian

The primary function of upper airway is to exchange heat and moisture. The ISB (isothermic
saturation boundary) is the point that divides the airway by temperature which is constant below
this point and is variable during inhalation and exhalation above this point. The shifts of the ISB
can provide the proper heat and moisture in the upper airway to meet the needs in the lower
airway. Without providing the correct heat moisture exchange between the upper and lower airway
can lead to serious problems within the lungs. Humidification of dry medical gases which are
administrated by inhaling is very important to keep the lower airway in a normal physiology

The Influence of Renaissance in Art and Architecture
The influences of any era is evident through artwork and architecture. During the Middle Ages the
main influence was the church, this is evident through the focus on biblical and religious symbols.
During the Renaissance the main focus was the study of people. This is shown through the increase
in self portraits and classical antiquity inspired buildings. The change between the Middle Agesand
the Renaissanceis best shown through the art and architecture, demonstrated specifically through an
emphasis on religion and classical antiquity, both suggesting a clear cultural change. The culture of
both of these eras was greatly shaped by the studies of humanism and theology. The transformation

The art and architecture displayed during the Renaissance showed many influences from the ancient
Greek and Roman cultures. Middle age architecture led into humanism and classical antiquity,
which is shown through many buildings during that time (Deliyannis). Middle Age architecture was
influenced by Romanesque architecture. Their buildings had pointed arches, big windows, bigger
buildings and more focus on religious styles (Deliyannis). This is evident through the many
cathedrals in England. While Middle Age architecture was influenced by Romanesque architecture,
Renaissance architecture was influenced by classical antiquity (Hankins). Classical antiquity is
known as the revial of the cultures of Greece and Rome. Renaissance architecture focused on
symmetry, proportion and geometry. The Pazzi Chapel in Florence was greatly influenced by
classical antiquity (Class Notes). This is shown through the rounded arches and big windows of
the building. The architecture from the renaissance and the Middle Ages shows the change of
building style and the impacts of the influence they received. During the Middle Ages, symbolism
was a big part of the current day art because of the major focus on the church and theology. Jesus

Social Class And Status Groups
Social class is a concept that has been interpreted countless times throughout history. The existence
of social class and status groups has even been questioned and whether it is a positive or negative
thing. This ethnography explores groups of class and how distinctions between individuals on a
macro level can affect their micro level interactions in everyday life. The differences between
individuals macro distribution would not have any effect if they were not illustrated in everyday
micro level encounters and thus class and status groups would not be formed.
The ethnographic research conducted for this analysis is of social class groups of women in a local
cafГ©. For this study I visited this cafГ© three mornings in a row and observed the daily
activities of the local resident s comings and goings. The first morning everything seemed to run
just as a typical cafГ© would run, women gathering for brunch or morning tea, business people
grabbing their coffee on their way to important meetings and the usual. On the second visit I had
noticed the two same groups of women at the cafГ© sitting at the same spots they were the day
before. I observed the two groups of women simultaneously and even approached them and
conversed with them.
Shortly after interacting with the women I had uncovered the distinction between these groups of
women. They were groups of mothers, one group from the local public school in the neighbourhood
and the other group from the local private school. The

Four Forms of Lupus
ВЁ There are four different forms of lupus, and each affects the body differently.
ВЁ Drug induced lupus: The most common form of lupus in older individuals is induced by drug
exposure. It usually causes only a brief illness if the offending medication is identified and
discontinued.
ВЁ Discoid lupus: The second form is called discoid lupus, and occurs only on the skin. It causes
a rash that can lead to permanent scarring of the skin. When the rash is in the scalp, it can be
associated with permanent hair loss.
Systemic lupus: The third type of lupus is the systemic form, which is the most serious form, as it
can affect any organ in the body. The systemic form is almost always associated with antibodies that
are detected in the blood, causing the immune system to go haywire.

entertaining and relatable life happenings of their main protagonists. The two texts share a
similarity in that both protagonists deal with challenges, uncertainties and insecurities. However,
these topics vary in such ways that the stories contrast greatly and potentially appeal to different

Gordie s major insecurity is his sensitivity and his intelligence. At the height of his brother s
death, Gordie is well known for getting upset easily, or trailing off into thought about what he
could do to make his parents love him. He is also afraid to be intelligent, as the previous
paragraphs have highlighted. Gordie s friends are not as intelligent as him, and in turn he is
very reserved as a way of not expressing his intellect. To contrast, Josie has no issues expressing
her intellect. She is quite happy to tell people when they are in the wrong, and has no concerns
with being brutally honest. This is potentially in lieu of her upbringing and Italian heritage.
However, Josie is very insecure about her heritage. Throughout the novel she refers to herself as
an illegitimate Italian and is insecure about the expectations that she has to live up to. Josie is
constantly anxious about the Italian community and how much they will talk, talk, talk if she is
not normal enough . There are times she falls to her insecurity and gives into peer pressure such

Analysis And Use Of Financial Ratios
Ratios are measurements. The reason ratios are used, as opposed to absolute values, is a
mathematical one, and is basically in order to facilitate comparison by adjusting for size (Barnes,
1987). Similarly, knowledge of the behavior of turnover ratios might be useful in assessing the
effects of changes in any of the underlying economic characteristics (Gupta and Hgefner, 1972).
Article One
In article The Analysis and Use of Financial Ratios: A Review Article by Barnes (1987), financial
ratios are discussed. The discussion on financial ration is about the purpose of financial ratios. The
purpose of financial ratios is to aid management s efficiency of planning and implementing actions
based on prediction outcomes through coefficients and deviations. The financial ratios are used in
design projects because the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Barnes (1987) suggest using
debt and performance ratios. Debt ratios indicated the percentage of a the assets verse debt. The
formula is total debt divided total assets. Performance ratios indicated different aspects of cash flow
. There are many different performance ratios.
The advantages of debt and performance ratios are evaluating the worth or success of functions
within a firm and identifying needs of a firm to meet the objectives, targets, goals, and scope

Essay on Honor in Richard II
The Importance of Honor in Richard II
The tension charged exchange between Bolingbroke and Mowbray in the first scenes of Richard

importance of honor in Shakespeare s plays. Trial by combat, or a judicial duel was a traditional
way to settle disputes in England and Europe for many generations. People dueled to defend their
own honor, and to prove personal claims against the honor of others. Honor. Honor is the

In Richard II, Mowbray and Bolingbroke are set to have a judicial duel to the death. The duel is
judicial because the winner, the survivor, is credited with being true and virtuous. The loser, in
death, forfeits claims to honor and innocence. They have told Richard their charges against their

Analysis Of Bad Day By Daniel Poster
Bad Day by Daniel Poster has been a song that has influenced my life since I can remember. It is
really the first song that i remember hearing from my child hood. Every time it came on the

someone having a bad day. I remembered during my childhood when I was having a bad day I
would blast this song and it would make me in a better mood. It really begin the foundation of
music for me. This song spoke volumes to me and it would instantly change my mood when I
heard it. Now when I hear it I instantly am drawn to memories of me and my mother blasting it.
It takes me back to my child hood in a way. I remember my favorite lines from the song was, You

to sad music will brighten my mood. I related a lot with that verse and the rest of the song. This
is why Bad Day by Daniel Poster is part of my attention collection project. Scooby Doo is another
piece of my attention project. Growing up I didn t really like watching a lot of television, but I

Discrimination Essay On Discrimination
Discrimination Today in 2017, people are being discriminated against because they are gay or
transgender. These people are being killed just because they want to be themselves and people
are discriminating against them simply because of their appearance and gender. Also, people say
that women can t do certain things that men can do and people of color are more likely to be shot
at by police because of the color of their skin. The idea that many times, certain groups in society
are discriminated against due to their race, gender, and appearance is a theme that is expressed in
the early American texts, On Being Brought From Africato America by Phillis Wheatley, The Story
of An Hour by Kate Chopin, and The Crucible by Arthur Miller. First, in the poem On Being
Brought From Africa to America by Phillis Wheatley, a little girl is taken from her family in
Africa and brought to America. She was taken because of the color of her skin so Americans
were discriminating against her due to her race. In the poem on line 5 and 6, Wheatley writes
that many Americans viewed her sable race with a scornful eye. This quotation shows how
openly racist and prejudiced many whites were towards black slaves. Not only did whites viewed
slaves as inferior, but they even believed that the black race was diabolical. The term diabolical
suggests a sense of evil. Secondly, the story The Story of An Hour by Kate Chopin focuses on

The Economic Problem Of The Market Economy
The economic problem faced in the market economy is that there are an unlimited amount of
wants with a scarce amount of resources. They only current solution is to make decisions as the
desire of satisfying all wants is not possible. Economics is the about the allocation of limited
resources in the best possible way in order to satisfy needs (items essential for survival food and
shelter) and wants (not necessities, but provide satisfaction and assist achievement of higher
standard of living). In order to choose where to allocate resources, four fundamental questions must
be attempted to be answered: 1. What to produce? 2. How much to produce? 3. How to produce? 4.
How to distribute production? And with the usage of potential answers, opportunity cost (the loss
of other alternatives when one alternative is chosen) occurs with every decision made. Individual
consumers, business firms and the government are faced with the economic problem and must
observe choices whilst considering the opportunity cost of these decisions which makes different
economic factors such as individuals, businesses and the government address this problem in
diverse ways. There are four fundamental questions, which assist addressing the economic problem
when businesses need to prepare to produce goods and services: 1.What to produce? 2.How much

What people may fail to see however is that the physician is not the only healthcare personnel

with the healthcare worker s own morals and there are cases in which the patient suffers from

Physician assisted suicide was first made legal in the state of Oregon. (Hendin) In cases of
euthanasia, physicians often give lethal doses of a medication to terminate a patient s life because
they re experiencing intolerable pain. Patients who wish to use the Death with Dignity law in
Oregon must be eighteen or older, must be a resident of Oregon, and they must be able to make
their own health care decisions. (Sharp 53) However, the law does not require the patient to be in
unmanageable pain, they must just have a prognosis of less than six months to live. (Sharp 54)
This law seems to be in place to kill patients more quickly to open up hospital space, instead of
compassionately ending someone s suffering.
Oregon s physicians are required by law to recommend hospice and palliative care, but are often
not qualified, therefore only thirteen percent of dying patients get to hear their alternatives.
(Hendin) Oregon also does not require a psychiatric evaluation when a patient makes a request for
suicide. (Hendin) Studies have shown that 13 77% of patients who request assisted suicide are
suffering from depression; however, psychiatrists believe that depression is a normal response to a
severe illness. (Boyd) Also, patients who are aware they are going to receive a psychological
evaluation which may allow them to commit suicide may lie during the evaluation so that they
seem fine.

While there are many reasons that change fails to occur, there is indeed a lack of protection,
strength of people s freedom of speech, and corruption within the government. This failure to
protect freedom of speech results in the often deadly threats of journalists, human right activists
and even media outlets. There were approximately 87 complaints of threats and 8 journalists were
killed in 2016. A photographer once took a picture of the Guatemalan President sleeping and
claims say it cost him his job. The failure of strengthening Guatemalans freedom of speech also
causes for citizens to be uninformed of what outrageous events occur in the government when they
fear speaking out. Corruption also could lead to the disappearance of money and constituents trust
for the government. These tragic events then feed to the malicious cycle of having corrupt
government officials and resulting in no changes made to benefit the people of Guatemala.
Uruguay ranks 74 when 100 is highly clean in a transparency index done in 2015 however
Guatemala ranks 111 when 180 is the most corrupt. To maintain its low corruption Uruguay has

Transgender People Face Harmful Discrimination
His mother holds up another dress, remarking on how cute it is and handing it to him to try on.
She ignores the uncomfortable look on his face and tells him to hurry up. He sits in the dressing
room in silence, looking at himself in the mirror, the dress hanging on a hook beside him. He
furrows his brows, covers his chest with his arms, and stares at the face looking back at him. It
doesn t look right, he thinks, trying not to cry. All his life he had been called she and girl and it
never felt right. No one told him it was okay to feel this way when he brought it up, instead yelling
at him, telling him he was just confused. It made him sick, pretending to be a girl, but no one
listened or cared. Due to the many misconceptions about them, transgenderpeople face harmful
discrimination, whether being told their feelings are invalid, that there is no such thing, or being
killed for who they are. Identifying as a genderother than the one you are assigned at birth is seen
as unnatural in a world ruled by a rigid gender binary, so understanding transgender people s
experiences is necessary for a safe life for them. Some protections are already available to
transgender people, though paltry: Only 15 [states] and the District of Columbia have laws
prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity/expression ( Knowledge Center ). Additionally,
seven state governors have put orders into effect that ban the discrimination of state workers on the
basis of them being

Example Of Confirmation Bias
Confirmation Bias The confirmation bias is about us giving priority or being biased towards
information that affirms preceding and existing beliefs or experiences. Suppose that a person
believes that people who are left handed are more creative compared to right handed people. On
any occasion the person with this belief meets a person that is creative and also left handed they
regard this evidence quite important as it confirms their existing belief. They also might find proof
further to back up the belief and will disregard other examples which do not support the
fundamental belief. While confirmation biases have an influence on people collecting information

Necessarily, we have the tendency to believe that are successfulness are mainly because of our
inner characteristics and abilities. Although the failures experienced are a cause of the variables
which cannot be manipulated. In terms of how the Self Serving Bias operates in our day to day life,
if you get an A+ in an exam this bias will steer a belief within you which is that you prepared
well for the exam. At the same time by any chance if you failed the exam again it will make you
believe that the teacher did not do justice to this subject by teaching properly, the heat in the
classroom was terrible or you were disturbed by someone the night prior to the exam. This bias
occurs mainly for people to keep their self esteem in place. By the attribution of positive situations
to personal traits, the confidence in one is boosted. Also by casting the blame to the external
sources people secure their self esteem as well as deliver themselves from the individual control
they may have over a situation. There are also many factors that influence the Self Serving Bias
such as age, gender, culture, one s mental state and

Billy Graham Accomplishments
Dr. Billy Graham told William McKay during an interview that My only concern is that my
image on screen would eclipse the image of Jesus. I am at an age where I know that I will be
standing before my Savior soon, and I don t want anything to disappoint him. (McKay, p. 1) Billy
Graham s goal through life was for others to see Jesusthrough him and in him so that when he

Analysis Of Johnson Johnson And Johnson Company Essay
When seven people in Chicago died from cyanide laced Tylenol tablets in 1982, Johnson
Johnson (JNJ) responded in a manner that not only saved the company s future, but also saved
lives (Knight, 1982). JNJ reacted to the shocking news of the over the counter drug related
deaths with compassion, urgency and honesty. JNJ aimed at showing the public that the company
was as much of a victim as the consumers were, and vowed to resolve the issue and keep the
media and consumers involved and aware, as per the company credo (Our Credo; Rehak, 2002).
JNJ s timely response set a precedence by which public relations practitioners would model and
businesses would strive to achieve. Background
General Company Background In 1886, Robert Wood Johnson, Edward Mead Johnson, and James
Wood Johnson formed Johnson Johnson company and quickly expanded the company in the late
19th century (Johnson Johnson History, n.d.). The company created products that were aimed at
improving health and personal hygiene and published books and manuals that instructed sterile
surgery methods, wound treatments and women s health care (Johnson Johnson History, n.d.).
JNJ began the practice of providing money and supplies for disaster relief in 1900 when the
company assisted victims of a hurricane in Galveston, Texas (Johnson Johnson, n.d.).
During the early 20th century, Johnson Johnson released new products and medicinal products
while expanding their international presence in regions such

The Education System Of The 21st Century
In the 21st century, many American students are wondering why they are even going to college at
all, which begs to question, what is the purpose of education in the 21st century. As with any big
question, there are multiple takes on the higher education system in America. Walter Kirn, a
Princeton Alumni, describes educationas a meritocracy, where those with merit, or wealth in this
case, can rise to the top, in a personal narrative Lost in the Meritocracy describing what education
in the 21st century is. His experiences show us the life of an Ivy Leaguer in modern times, which
is very different from the common portrayal of an Ivy Leaguestudent. Kirn s experiences and life at
Princeton comically contradict his own university s mission statement, while still highlighting the
pressure put on Ivy League students with an aptitude for showing aptitude (Kirn 143) Kirn s
narrative shows the flaws and cracks in higher education, cracks that Liz Coleman former president
of Bennington College believes call for a reform of liberal arts education. In her TedTalk,
Coleman shows us how to get education back to its roots, or what it should be. Using rhetorical
devices created by Aristotle, pathos, appealing to emotion; ethos, appealing to expertise; or logos,
appealing to logic; Kirn, Coleman, and various universities are able to convince the reader of their
point of view. Whether it is the images of a broken education system, or the idealistic dreams of the
universities

Isolation Of Women In The Medieval Period
The role of women in the medieval period were strictly designated. Women were viewed as
possessions and served the function of conforming to the authority or will of others. Women in the
medieval period cultures possessed almost no autonomy of what they thought was right, therefore
they were consistently at the mercy of their lord or husbands as well as society. The work of these
medieval women writers impacted me by exposing and making me understand the sense of isolation
and desperation felt by women during that time period. And highlight their inability to control their
own standpoint because it was safer for women to disguise their emotions by not showing them
publicly. However, the writers also emphasized the time and investment that each character put into
their definition of love even though their love was prohibited, abandoned, or spiritual.... Show more

However, showing any description of a delicate emotion like pain or loneliness was not tolerable
in the culture. If a women wanted to be treated with respect by her husband and the society
around her, she would have to lack any type of true feeling. The writer also wants to call attention
to the significant fact that women were treated like a possession in front of others, as stated My
lord commanded me (Line 15) or They forced me (Line 25). However what medieval women
writers wanted to highlight was that women were courageous/strong enough to have a glad
Countenance , showing compassion towards those that administered pain and agony to their life.

times that he left behind. May the young man be sad minded/ with hard heart thoughts, / yet let

Marmoutier Abbey was a monastery just outside the city of Tours which was found in around the
fourth century. It is one of the earliest places of worship in the entire region. It later became a
very important abbey and had a lot of influence on the city culture and politics. One of the best
things to do in Marmoutier Abbey is to see the old ruins of ancient buildings that once were part of
the great monastery. The only material work that was done was of transcription to better understand
prayer instructions. One of the things to do in France is to enjoy the various places that depict
different religious elements such as the Marmoutier Abbey. Marmoutier Abbey though has a bloody
history. It was ravaged by Normans in the ninth century. The monastery again received importance
during the days of the crusades but then faded away. It was officially terminated during the French
Revolution after which the condition of most buildings present at Marmoutier Abbey quickly
deteriorated. The abbey contains a private school these days but there are many ruins that remain

Ut Austin s Office Of Admissions
UT Austin s Office of Admissions Personal Connections as a Consultant I selected UT Austin s

way I thought would be helpful. I also hoped to utilize what I learned to increase my understanding
of its challenges. My career in higher education began with UT Austins Office of Admissions in
2006. After six years, I requested a role with greater responsibility, believing I needed more space
to grow than the organization would allow at the time. In 2013, Dr. Ishop, vice provost and director

Admitted students with high need and lower probability of four year completion, were de
incentivized from matriculation by way of inadequate funding to support their enrollment. Students
most impacted by these changes in policy and practice were disproportionately from
underrepresented backgrounds and under resourced secondary schools, creating conflict between
admissions practices that focused on crafting a diverse freshmen class and greater institutional
emphasis on four year completion.
Though I remained closely connected to the Office of Admissions during my time in CNS, I
observed, as in outsider, significant staffing changes, compromised staff morale, and increased
skepticism the institution held for admissions and recruitment staff. In addition, recruitment efforts
were often berated publicly as the cause for matriculation declines by ethnicity, major, or caliber.
More than 15 admissions officers, the majority from the recruitment division, resigned due to
dissatisfaction and/or lack of confidence in changes in leadership and direction of the institution
many of these positions were not replaced. Due to changes in leadership in both admissions and
CNS, my position is returning to the Office of Admissions in June 2016. Given the state of the
organization, I sought to address the following questions:
1.How is the institution and organizational mission understood by the recruitment

Supporting Ethical Behavior In The Workplace
Ethical behavior in the workplace is paramount to a successful organization. Commitment to
supporting ethical behavior in the workforce must be a top priority for all public service employees.
The ethical culture of the organization starts at the very top of the organization. The standards of
the agency are adhered to across the entire structure through fair and consistent ethical conduct as
defined by leadership. Effective leaders must demonstrate through their behavior that they believe
what they say. Those who pronounce that their supervisors and street level workers must adhere to
the highest ethical standards must themselves adhere to those same standards (Menzel, p. 70,
2016). Actions may not be considered illegal, however if the action is contrary to organizations...

Retaliatory termination refers to firing an employee as revenge for an employee s protected
activity. Protected activities include such acts as refusing to participate in something illegal,
reporting sexual harassment or other illegal act, or seeking to join or form a labor union. If an
employer fires an employee for taking part in any of these activities, it is considered retaliatory
termination, which is a form of wrongful termination (Legal Dictionary, 2016). If Rob does fire
Carolyn after the ruling is decided in his favor, she should bring a lawsuit for wrongful termination.
Wrongful termination, also referred to as wrongful dismissal, or wrongful discharge, involves the
termination of an employee without just cause. While most people who have been fired from their
jobs feel the dismissal was without just cause, wrongful termination actually refers to dismissals for
a narrow set of reasons. In fact, wrongful termination refers to termination involving some type of
discrimination, which violates the employees civil rights (Legal Dictionary,

characters was Ben Savage who played as Cory a student going into 6th grade and growing up
and going to college ( Where are they now 7). Ben Savage was new and nobody heard about him
but he worked hard every day. He was only 6 when he started and became a key part of the show

Endotoxin Essay
Endotoxin
Endotoxin are bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), and is formed especially by lipids and sugars.
It is present in the outer cell envelope of gram negative bacterias and its purpose are to maintain the
cell membrane intact. The endotoxin is the principal component of the bacterial membrane. (Raetz,
2002)
LPS has a structure based on three main components: Lipid A, that is the hydrophobic part, an R
polysaccharide and an O polysaccharide (or O antigen). Consequently, it has both hydrophilic and
hydrophobic regions, which makes possible the formation of aggregates when the endotoxin goes
into the plasma.

The main difference is that the first one uses microporous membranes, and those contains functional
ligands attached to the internal pore surface throughout the membrane structure.
The advantage of membrane adsorbers is that the biding sites are not nestles within diffusive pores,
they are located alond the through pores, therefore, is possible to eliminate the diffusive pores,
unlike the packed column.
The membrane is made of a polymeric substrate that is chemically coupled to a functional ligand.
Liu (2010) also states that the membrane that attracted most of industry interest in purification
process was the quarternary amine (Q) membrane. At something about neutral to somewhat basic
pH and at low conductivities, endotoxin adhere to the Q membrane, while the basic antibody
molecules flow through the membrane without being bound.
Unfortunately, there are some limitations in this method, as its irregular flow distributuion, non
identical membrane size distribution, variable membrane thickness, the availability of appropriate
scale down devices and low binding capacities. Low biding capacity is attribuited to low surface
area as well as poor flow

  • 2. Judging People Research Paper We live in a society that is solely focused on appearance and how we look to others. Look at the people around you and what is the first thing you notice? You might see their hair color, skin tone, and their clothing. Though while you are doing that you could be making silent observations. Why do we do that? People say away from the people who look dangerous and people will like the people who are attractive. Though when it comes to judging appearance it s something that is a part of our lives. Is it good? Is it bad? When humans judge one another it comes from an evolutionary adaptation, however in modern times with a structured society it is not acceptable to do so. In Pam Belluck s New York Times article, Yes, looks do matter, address... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our mind should avoid the impulse of determining the causes of events until a wide range of evidence is gathered and assessed from many different sources and traditions. (Torres, Raymond. Why Judging by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan. 2017.) We are quick to make judgements on people s lives completely based on how we see them at that particular moment. One can make the assumption that you are lazy if you come into work late or not properly dressed. Though they don t know the true story, you could be having an off day or something is currently happening in your life. Humans are so focused on being right on our observations that when we told something other than what we think we refuse to believe it. Raymond Torrs states that, It s hard to understand the nature of other people or the natural world, if all we really care to know is any and everything that comes out of our own mind. This attitude constrains our ability to find out more about any issue. We assume that just because we call something for what it is or what we think it is, that there isn t a composite of underlying and interactive factors responsible for our observations. (Torres, Raymond. Why Judging by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan. 2017.) We shouldn t make simple judgements on people by external appearance because it is superficial and often unfair. After all, you don t know what circumstances the person might be facing or who the person really is. Perhaps the person comes from a less fortunate family than you and cannot afford the kind of stylish clothes your friends wear. However, that does not mean the person is less intelligent or interesting than you are. People have the lack of discernment which leads to large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Negative Impacts Of Plastic Uses And Plastics A Cuvier s beaked whale was put down after finding four kilograms of plastic bags in every part of its stomach. The internal damage caused by the bags included an inflamed stomach and intestinal walls ( Plastic Bags Found ). Tragically, this is not the only story of plastic bags harming wildlife. Another story like this occurred less than two months later. Wildlife is suffering daily because plastic bags are interfering with their habitat. Because they are harmful to the environment, plastic bags should be banned. Plastic bags cannot be recycled, so they end up decomposing in landfills for hundreds of years. A great alternative is reusable bags that can also be recycled. The plastic bags single use does not outweigh the negative impact that they have on the environment and wildlife. Every year, Americans use 70 to 100 million plastic bags according to Patricia Smith. To put it into perspective, each family in America uses an average of 1,700 plastic bags a year. Each of these plastic bags is used once, and then unfortunately, tossed into the trash. From the trash, the plastic bags eventually end up in a landfill, where it takes hundreds of years to decompose. Otherwise, plastic bags end up as litter. Littered plastic bags are everywhere, from corn fields to the ocean. Animals all over the world often mistake these plastic bags as food. They consume the bags and die from complications as a result. Recycling plastic bags is not an option either. Plastic bags are one of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Discussion On Ethical Theories 5.0 Following up discussions based on ethical theories After discussing ethical dilemmas from individual and corporation aspects, we bring ethical discussions from four major points according to ethical theories introduced in the background section: social duty, consequence, law and culture. 5.1 Social Duty Happy Meal , a specialized meal marketed at children from McDonald s contains main item such as a hamburger, a side item like french fries, a drink, and most important, a toy. 20% of McDonald s sales is from toys, it has become one of the largest US toy distributors. McDonald s uses popular characters such as minions or Hello Kitty to attract children to their happy meal. Because of these toys, McDonald s became the most popular American kid s restaurant. Some children even ask for Happy Meal only for the toys. Because Happy Meal is the most popular fast food product, McDonald is big extend has a significant relationship with American childhood obesity. Is the Happy Meal ethical or not? According to Kant s theory, which includes that people have the duty to not physically harm others, McDonald s behavior is unethical. Because as a fast food company, McDonald s targets children by using toys and selling them fast food which make children obese and make far lasting impacts on those children s dietary habits. But from McDonald s aspect, they provide healthier choice by changing the french fires to apple slides, and they also provides all the nutritional facts for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Learning Organisation Organisational learning and learning organisations have been the focus of a great deal of evaluation within management literature since the 1990 s (Senge, 1990; Michaux, 2002). This paper aims to define and critically evaluate the concept of a learning organisation by drawing on the writings of core authors to both support and demonstrate criticisms of the learningorganisation concept. The Learning Organisation Organisational learning is a continual process whereby an organisation adapts to its environment by constantly improving performance through evolving knowledge and understanding by its members and the organisation (Hartel, Strybosch Blyth, 2006). A learning organisation, on the other hand, is an organisation which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The level of organisational learning required by an organisation will be dependent on its own distinctive characteristics and considering the type of organisation and its operating environment, it may not always be beneficial for an organisation to be a learning organisation (Hartel et al. 2006: 292). The concept of the learning organisation gained wide acceptance from the works of Peter Senge who is most well known for his body of work entailed The Fifth Discipline. Here, Senge (1990: 3) introduces the notion of systems thinking and defines a learning organisation as one where people continually expand their capacity to create the results they truly desire, where new and expansive patterns of thinking are nurtured, where collective aspiration is set free, and where people are continually learning to see the whole together . However, the concept of systems thinking has been around since the 1950 s but it was not until Senge s writings that it gained popularity and momentum. Whilst it is necessary for an organisation to apply adaptive or survival learning an example which would be adapting to changes in the current environment, Senge (1990) asserts that a true learning organisation is characterised by generative learning which is learning that enhances its capacity to innovate and create. Generative learning and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Death, Be Not Proud, And On The Death Of Richard West Pop culture icon and music sensation Kanye West once said, Nothing in life is promised, except death. Death can be interpreted in many different ways; some people fear death, while others view death as the pathway to eternal life. Death is a guaranteed and an unavoidable part of life, and it can have varying impacts on people, whether they are positive or negative. Death is an intriguing topic often found in poetry. John Donnes Holy Sonnets: Death, Be Not Proud, William Shakespeare s Sonnet73, and Thomas Gray s On the Death of Richard West discuss the topic of death and impart their own opinions of death. John Donne s metaphysical poem and sonnet, Holy Sonnets: Death, Be Not Proud, follows a Petrarchan rhyme scheme as seen in the first eight lines: a/b/b/a/a /b/b/a. Unlike the quintessential sestet of c/e/f/g/e/f, the sestet of this sonnet has a c/d/d/c/a/a rhyme scheme. The use of a Petrarchan rhyme scheme is appropriate because the first twelve lines... Apostrophe is used from the beginning, as the speaker talks to Death as if he a real human and can respond back to him, referring to him as poor Death (Donne 3). In addition, the speaker personifies Death by giving him attributes, such as mighty and dreadful (2). The speaker uses a metaphor to compare Death to rest and sleep (5), which provide much pleasure undermining Death and the fear of it. The speaker contradicts himself in many ways: according to him, Death thinks he can kill people, but the speaker argues against that saying nor yet canst thou kill me (4), acknowledging his keen sense of mortality. He further contradicts himself by discussing his eternal life after his short sleep (13). Microcosm is used as Death represents the bigger picture of eternity in heaven, as the speaker says, One short sleep past, we wake eternally / And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die ... • 7. Hemostasis Research Paper Hemostasis is the process that causes bleeding to stop. It also changes blood from a liquid to a gel. It consists of three processes, vascular spasm, platelet plug formation and blood coagulation. Vascular spasm is the first step in heeling in the wound. Vascular spasm is when the damaged blood vessels constrict due to tightening of muscle cells on the inside wall. This helps decrease bloodflow, thus minimizing blood loss. Then plateletplug formation occurs. This is when platelets adhere to the damaged endothelium and form a plug. Normally platelets do not stick to the endothelial lining but during an injury collagen is exposed. The exposed collagen activates the platelets to stick together and form a plug. Once the platelets are stuck together ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Election Of President Elect Every four years, in early November, American s head to the polls to vote for the next president of the nation. After a lengthy two years of campaigning and debating, America s votes were cast and Donald Trump became the nation s president elect. Interestingly, Trump did not win the popular vote, he had two million less votes than his Democratic opposition, Hillary Clinton. Due to the use of the electoral college, Trump managed to win more states and more battleground states than Clinton, and thus won the electoral college vote. This electionand its results have been a whirlwind of emotions for both Trump and Clinton supporters. Regardless of the outcome, the greatest part about knowing who the president elect is, is that this election has finally come to a halt. What is noteworthy about his campaign is that Donald Trump ran his differently from the average politician. Trump both acted differently and spoke of people in whichever manner he pleased. Surprisingly, American s thrived off of his ability to stand tall and remain true to himself. The main argument in this election between Clinton and Trump supporters was how they were more offended by Clinton s actions than Trump s words. No matter what Trump said, his followers still thought of him in a positive manner. First of all, Donald Trump ran his campaign, in the kindest of words, unconventionally. He had no filter in debates, in rallies and on his social media platforms. While speaking one s mind honestly is a great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mission Statement Serving Others For Customers A Better Life For Shareholders A Superior Return For Employees Respect and Opportunity. About Dollar General Corporation Dollar General Corporation has been delivering value to shoppers for over 75 years. With more than 12,000 stores in 43 states, Dollar General is America s largest small box discount retailer by sales. In addition to high quality private brands, Dollar General sells products from America s most trusted manufacturers such as Clorox, Energizer, Procter Gamble, Hanes, Coca Cola,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employees Regular employees are not that well paid but they are Ok. Since most of their stores are located in rural areas, they are able to have employees for cheaper wages. 4. Respect In a way, people in rural areas do not have the experience of buying higher quality products. Most of those Brands being sold by them are either lesser known ones or, specially made with discounted prices by cutting corners. For example if I buy a Brut Deodorant for a $ 1.00, it s quality wouldn t be the same as the one that I would buy from Maycees. Same goes with other products. In terms of Respect, they need to respect the intelligence of the customer. So, those Brands mentioned in their website is an eyewash and is of inferior quality. 5. Opportunity Certainly there is a good opportunity for buying cheaper products. • 12. Credit Score Research Paper 2183 Г— 3300 Caption A lot of credit card debt can lower your credit rating. Alternate Text Group Your credit score is a complicated mix of factors, such as how much you owe, how timely your payments are, the kind of credit you have and how long you ve had that credit. Rating companies use proprietary formulas to come up with your credit score, which is used to determine how credit worthy you are. Lenders use this to decide whether to loan you money and, if they make the loan, how high your interest rate will be. Paying off your debts can help to raise your credit score and make it easier for you to get new credit, such as a mortgage or a new car loan. Exactly how much paying off a credit card helps you varies, but there is no question that paying off even a single card will help. FICO The Fair Isaac Company is one of the most commonly used sources of credit ratings, a number often referred to as your FICO score. Once we look at someone and say, They re white , it brings forth all the stereotype s that go along with that race , and once the race is assigned, it is assumed that we can know something about the person. This also doesn t convince us that attributing every individual to a certain category is even beneficial or necessary. Ultimately, the paper states that once we designate someone as a certain race, we then have a basis to differentiate ourselves. This serves a people in power the most, as when the Irish Americans, though viewed as somewhat unruly, were still able to enter and run for public office because of naturalization laws of the late nineteenth century. Once it was established in the United States that there were competing groups out there in the labor force, namely African, Asian, Latin, and Mexican Americans, it became advantageous to draw a color line to create a large group, those of lighter skin color, to raise and continue to hold the power through numbers and mass alone. Once it becomes established that a group s tendencies are of a natural prescription, as in the Ethnic Notions film, and once the greater society adheres to the simple guidelines fed to them, the argument is then taken out of the minority group s hands. Immutable then would describe the group lacking power enough to break the stereotype. This social construction of race, one that lumps a mass of people into an ambiguous category, becomes an enigma. In a thriving age of technology and science, one could argue that the United States (and many countries throughout the world) have progressed a long way from the outdated technologies that were used in past decades. Yet, despite the vast progress made in the stem fields, the demographics of STEM workers are still highly outdated with its lack of racial and gender diversity. As a result of the growing number of jobs in STEM, organizations such as Black Girls Code are making steps to prepare minorities for these careers. The founder of Black Girls Code, Kimberly Bryant, experienced what she calls cultural isolation during her collegiate years and throughout her career as an electrical engineer. Bryant recalls seeing very few faces like her own and felt that there was a void in the STEM field that needed to be filled by the presence of black women. Bryant acknowledges that the lack of black females in STEM is not due to a lack of interest in the sciences, but is instead due to a lack of resources and lack of exposure provided to black girls during early education. She set out to meet this need and, thus, Black Girls Code was created. Black Girls Code is an organization focused on increasing the number of black girls in the STEM field. To the Elizabethan audience, birthright would still initially guarantee honor, and respect for a noble, honor that could be lost if it was not maintained or if the gentleman s good name became dirtied. Mowbray despairs over his lost honor, I am disgraced, impeached, and baffled here,/Pierced to the soul with slander s venomed spear (Richard II 1.1.170 171). Honor, being an extremely important commodity in Elizabethan England, was something to fight over. In Richard II, Mowbray and Bolingbroke are set to have a judicial duel to the death. The duel is judicial because the winner, the survivor, is credited with being true and virtuous. The loser, in death, forfeits claims to honor and innocence. They have told Richard their charges against their rivals, and are prepared to defend their honor, and innocence through personal combat. Their honor, their accumulation of virtuous deeds, has been soiled by the accusations brought against them. Slanderous comments and claims were not to go unheeded; in fact, Mowbray and Bolingbroke refuse to throw their gages up to King Richard and settle their quarrel peacefully. • 39. Discrimination Essay On Discrimination Discrimination Today in 2017, people are being discriminated against because they are gay or transgender. These people are being killed just because they want to be themselves and people are discriminating against them simply because of their appearance and gender. Also, people say that women can t do certain things that men can do and people of color are more likely to be shot at by police because of the color of their skin. The idea that many times, certain groups in society are discriminated against due to their race, gender, and appearance is a theme that is expressed in the early American texts, On Being Brought From Africato America by Phillis Wheatley, The Story of An Hour by Kate Chopin, and The Crucible by Arthur Miller. First, in the poem On Being Brought From Africa to America by Phillis Wheatley, a little girl is taken from her family in Africa and brought to America. She was taken because of the color of her skin so Americans were discriminating against her due to her race. In the poem on line 5 and 6, Wheatley writes that many Americans viewed her sable race with a scornful eye. This quotation shows how openly racist and prejudiced many whites were towards black slaves. Not only did whites viewed slaves as inferior, but they even believed that the black race was diabolical. The term diabolical suggests a sense of evil. Secondly, the story The Story of An Hour by Kate Chopin focuses on secret, repressed desires of women for individuality ... Economics is the about the allocation of limited resources in the best possible way in order to satisfy needs (items essential for survival food and shelter) and wants (not necessities, but provide satisfaction and assist achievement of higher standard of living). In order to choose where to allocate resources, four fundamental questions must be attempted to be answered: 1. What to produce? 2. How much to produce? 3. How to produce? 4. How to distribute production? And with the usage of potential answers, opportunity cost (the loss of other alternatives when one alternative is chosen) occurs with every decision made. Individual consumers, business firms and the government are faced with the economic problem and must observe choices whilst considering the opportunity cost of these decisions which makes different economic factors such as individuals, businesses and the government address this problem in diverse ways. There are four fundamental questions, which assist addressing the economic problem when businesses need to prepare to produce goods and services: 1.What to produce? 2.How much to produce? 3.How to produce? 4.How to distribute production? Essay on Physician-Assisted Suicide Suicide is one person s personal decision; physician assisted suicide is a patient who is not capable of carrying the task out themselves asking a physician for access to lethal medication. What people may fail to see however is that the physician is not the only healthcare personnel involved; it may include, but is not limited to, a physician, nurse, and pharmacist. This may conflict with the healthcare worker s own morals and there are cases in which the patient suffers from depression, or the patient is not receiving proper palliative care. Patients who wish to use the Death with Dignity law in Oregon must be eighteen or older, must be a resident of Oregon, and they must be able to make their own health care decisions. (Sharp 53) However, the law does not require the patient to be in unmanageable pain, they must just have a prognosis of less than six months to live. (Sharp 54) This law seems to be in place to kill patients more quickly to open up hospital space, instead of compassionately ending someone s suffering. Oregon s physicians are required by law to recommend hospice and palliative care, but are often not qualified, therefore only thirteen percent of dying patients get to hear their alternatives. (Hendin) Oregon also does not require a psychiatric evaluation when a patient makes a request for suicide. (Hendin) Studies have shown that 13 77% of patients who request assisted suicide are suffering from depression; however, psychiatrists believe that depression is a normal response to a severe illness. Walter Kirn, a Princeton Alumni, describes educationas a meritocracy, where those with merit, or wealth in this case, can rise to the top, in a personal narrative Lost in the Meritocracy describing what education in the 21st century is. His experiences show us the life of an Ivy Leaguer in modern times, which is very different from the common portrayal of an Ivy Leaguestudent. Kirn s experiences and life at Princeton comically contradict his own university s mission statement, while still highlighting the pressure put on Ivy League students with an aptitude for showing aptitude (Kirn 143) Kirn s narrative shows the flaws and cracks in higher education, cracks that Liz Coleman former president of Bennington College believes call for a reform of liberal arts education. In her TedTalk, Coleman shows us how to get education back to its roots, or what it should be. Using rhetorical devices created by Aristotle, pathos, appealing to emotion; ethos, appealing to expertise; or logos, appealing to logic; Kirn, Coleman, and various universities are able to convince the reader of their point of view. So many people were interested in this show because there were no shows like this one and people were sad to see it go in the year 2000 as it announced its ending. Secondly, the crew of the show also had a big impact on the American Society. One of the main characters was Ben Savage who played as Cory a student going into 6th grade and growing up and going to college ( Where are they now 7). Ben Savage was new and nobody heard about him but he worked hard every day. He was only 6 when he started and became a key part of the show and why people wanted to watch this. Many children watching may have also believed they could go into the acting career even though they are young. A man named Ben savage was the star of the show. He first started when he was 5 and kept going also the girl name Topanga started at age 5 and starred in the show with Ben (Gonzales 4). Even though he started out young he became a good actress and grew to become a better one. Topanga also worked hard every day so she could become just as good as Ben. This was put into kids eyes as a way they could also become an actress. Thirdly many bad things happened before the era of the show. When a crazy killer was given 4 life sentences after killing 3 bystanders ( Culture History 1). This happened when the show was first starting. People were killing each other and hurting others. This was the view for some kids once the show started and no one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Endotoxin Essay Endotoxin Endotoxin are bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), and is formed especially by lipids and sugars. It is present in the outer cell envelope of gram negative bacterias and its purpose are to maintain the cell membrane intact. The endotoxin is the principal component of the bacterial membrane. (Raetz, 2002) LPS has a structure based on three main components: Lipid A, that is the hydrophobic part, an R polysaccharide and an O polysaccharide (or O antigen). Consequently, it has both hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions, which makes possible the formation of aggregates when the endotoxin goes into the plasma. According to Raetz (2009) when recombinant proteins are produced in E.coli or other gram negative bacteria, it is necessary to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main difference is that the first one uses microporous membranes, and those contains functional ligands attached to the internal pore surface throughout the membrane structure. The advantage of membrane adsorbers is that the biding sites are not nestles within diffusive pores, they are located alond the through pores, therefore, is possible to eliminate the diffusive pores, unlike the packed column. The membrane is made of a polymeric substrate that is chemically coupled to a functional ligand. Liu (2010) also states that the membrane that attracted most of industry interest in purification process was the quarternary amine (Q) membrane. At something about neutral to somewhat basic pH and at low conductivities, endotoxin adhere to the Q membrane, while the basic antibody molecules flow through the membrane without being bound. Unfortunately, there are some limitations in this method, as its irregular flow distributuion, non identical membrane size distribution, variable membrane thickness, the availability of appropriate scale down devices and low binding capacities. Low biding capacity is attribuited to low surface area as well as poor flow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
