John Cage s Work Of Art
John Cage s work, 4 33, premiered in 1952. It is comprised of three movements, during which the
performer opens and closes the lid to signal the beginning and end of each segment. The piece is
based on indeterminacy, the idea that the piece will change each time it is performed.
Indeterminacy was a reaction to serialism, where every aspect of a piece of musicwas structured to
avoid repetition. Paul Ziff, an artist and philosopher, wrote an article in 1997 titled, Anything
Viewed. This article asserted that a work of art is something that is fit to be an object of aesthetic
attention (Ziff, 1997). He classifies this fitness based on a person p , who performs a certain action
a with a work, or entity e under the right conditions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When this piece was performed for the first time at an event for sponsors of avant garde music, the
audience was confused and upset. They had spent money to what they perceived as sit in silence
only to watch a man open and close a lid six times. When we listened to this piece in class on
April 21, 2017, we were informed of the piece beforehand and were expecting an allotted time of
silence. While sitting in expected silence, we heard the noises of the room, people drinking water,
coughing, and breathing. But the original audience was listening for traditionally understood
sounds. Additionally, as Ziff comments on the Sistine Chapelmurals and how they are not
aesthetically worthwhile, because the conditions have failed the person (1997). He states, it would
be worthwhile if... the Chapel was turned on its side, otherwise, it is painful too look at and
difficult to see in detail.
Based on these criteria, 4 33 is a work of art based on these criteria. A person can perform an
action with the entity in certain circumstances. If the individual is aware of the piece being
performed, he can perform an action with the piece by interacting with its message of how we live
our lives in expectation while also blocking out other aspects that we otherwise would have
experienced. Of course, this is all based on the circumstances, there are certainly

Top Ten Issues Facing National Parks Research Paper
In society, everyone is attached and more focused on technology rather than the nature and
wildlife of planet earth. Some people might argue that the parks or green spaces produce too
many greenhouse gases which will pollute the cities. However, our cities already have a lot of
pollution so if greenhouse gases are added to the mix it won t be of any harm. People also argue
that parks take up land space that could be developed for retail and the use of natural resources.
Parks actually help contribute to the economy because it helps in the real estate market and
ticketed events are held there which contributes to the community s economy. Not only is the fresh
air good for your body but walking around the park can help improve overall health and bring
down obesity levels. America... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Large amounts of the funds are needed to keep a lot of the national parks up and running.
However, the money is mostly being put towards the tourism side of the parks and not the
upkeep. The parks need to be properly maintained in order to preserve the natural beauty of the
park itself. In the web based article Top Ten Issues Facing National Parks by National
Geographic it states that National parks protect the historic buildings in which America s
history was made...but some of these hallowed edifices are crumbling...they re a big part of a
$9.5 billion maintenance backlog that plagues the park system. In other words, the parks have a
lot of unresolved issues that need to be taken care of but upkeep on the nature side needs to be
taken care of as well. An example of this is that non native species are being introduced to the
parks. This is a difficult issue because no park has closed borders so it is hard for the management
to control every single animal that come and go from the park. The national parks and recreation
department is working on a variety of solutions for the issues

Historical Facts And Creative License In Michael Shaara s...
The author of Killer Angels combined historical facts and creative license to make the book more
interesting to the readers.Killer Angels is a classic novel about the Civil War. The day that two
armies of America fought for two different dreams. Those dreams were freedom, and a way of life.It
was an unforgettable battle led by Chamberlain. It was more than just men who fell in the battlefield
at Pennsylvania, there was promises, innocence, and love.Chamberlain led the Union army to
victory and to it s people freedom. The author of Killer Angels use historical facts and creative
license to make Chamberlain s honorable thoughts, words, and actions clear to the reader.
First, Michael Shaara uses historical facts and creative license to make the story of the Battle of
Gettysburg entertaining to the readers.According to the text, Chamberlain bounded and slipped on
wet rocks, forgetting his hurts, his throat stuffed... (230).This supports my thesis because it proves
Chamberlain to be honorable.Even though he is hurt,he chose to be brave and be with his
soldiers. The historical fact within the quote is that Chamberlain was wounded 4 times during ...

fact in this evidence is that Chamberlain was thinking a lot and had to make a lot of decisions by
himself. It is shown how the author uses creative license by adding Chamberlain words, thoughts, and
actions because no one knew how Chamberlain was feeling or what was he thinking after the
victory of the Union Army.In summary, the author added that to make the story more interesting

Negative And Negative Effects Of Marijuana
Negatives of Marijuana Marijuana is a dangerous drug and should not be legalized. Marijuana
can damage lungs, it can affect cardiovascular shape and it puts you at higher risk for heart
attack or stroke, raises blood pressure and many other harmful effects. You can also end up
getting addicted to marijuana (Watson4). It s a very dangerous drug especially if driving. There
are many DUI s and deadly accidents that are marijuana related each year (gray1). That s why
marijuana is illegal in almost every state. Nevertheless, the number of teenagers partaking in
marijuana does appear to be on the rise, at least partially due to a reduced perception of risk
among teens who have been following the various legal debates around the country around
legalization of medicinal and recreational marijuana. Noelle swan (Christian Science Monitor2).
Although Marijuana is dangerous it doesn t seem to stop any one from using it. Marijuana is the
most common used drug in the United States and polls show that Americans are in favor of
marijuana (congressional digest1). It has various slang names such as; weed, pot, grass, ganja,
bud, herb, and many more. In two states recreational marijuana is legal and twenty eight states
medical marijuana and legal in two states for recreation use marijuana (Gray1). Marijuana
cultivation has been traced back up to six thousand years ago. Some strains of marijuana are found
to be up to seven times stronger than decades ago (Harvard Heart1). There is even

The Role Of God In The Gospel Of Mark
If you were to choose one word to describe the composite nature of the kingdom of God, it would
most likely be hazy. Throughout the old and new testament, we re presented with the theory of
what the kingdom of God is. Only to find out it is either a safe haven for God s loyal followers or a
sign of the imminent apocalypse (or second coming). Both beliefs of the kingdom of God were
presented in the synoptic gospels, especially in the Gospelof Mark. The author in this case is able
to combine the ideas of apocalyptic literature into the hopeful message that those who followed the
Lord will be rewarded for their faithfulness. Ultimately, the gospel of Markuses writing features of
apocalyptic literature as a scare tactic for obedience. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is seen throughout the Gospel of Mark, the readers or early Christians were presented with
the mindset that was needed in order to enter the kingdom of God. If your hand causes you to
stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell,
to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to
enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to
stumble, tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have
two eyes and be thrown into hell where their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched,
(Mark 9:43 48). Inherently, this metaphysical world is plagued by both evil and good, but which
path is needed in order to enter the theorized kingdom of God? The Marcan Gospel claims the
followers of Jesus must forgo what makes them sin, which can be considered the evil in this
world. By doing this there is a promise of an eternal reward for going against the ways of the
world. This idea highlights the concept presented in apocalyptic literature called divine justice. The
premises behind divine justice is that the followers of Jesus may not get an earthly reward, but they
will get a spiritual reward for their faithfulness. Mark highlights this idea of divine justice

Celiac Disease Case Study
1. Explain the physiologic mechanisms related to celiac disease. What anatomical features of the
small intestine lend it to the digestion and absorption of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins? Celiac
disease is an autoimmune disease triggered by ingestion, of gluten containing foods. The disease
results from inappropriate T cells immune response against gliadin in genetically predisposed
people. Individuals with this disorder have high levels of antibodies to a variety of antigens. The
resulting immune response produces a strong inflammatory reaction that results in loss of
absorptive villi from the small intestine. After the subsequent lesions are widespread, they may
weaken absorption of macronutrients and micronutrients. Small bowel involvement... Show more

It contains many circular folds that increase the surface area of the functional mucous membrane.
Enterocytes are cells found in the upper part of each villus and secrete enzymes for the digestion
and absorption of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Not having the villi within the inner surface of
small intestine makes the body is unable to absorb nutrients essential for health and growth. Instead,
nutrients such as fat, protein, vitamins, and minerals are eliminated in the stool (NIDDK, 2018). 2.
Sometimes individuals with celiac disease experience steatorrhea (fatty stools) after eating foods
containing gluten. What are the chemical components that normally digest fats in the small
intestine, and how are the fats are absorbed? The digestion of lipids occurs mostly in the small
intestine, mainly the upper jejunum. Lipases from the pancreas are secreted into the small
intestine as a part of pancreatic enzyme and breakdown lipids to fatty acids. Bile salts, created by
the liver, enter the duodenum to mix with fatty acids to form micelles. The development of these
micelles allows the absorption of fatty acids at intestinal villi. Pancreatic lipase, bile salts and
functioning lymphatic channels help break up fat if these are working correctly then steatorrhea

To The Virgins
For my poetry project, I have chosen To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick,
located on page 1,762 of the Norton Anthology English Literature 9th Edition. The speaker
seems to be speaking from experience, so he presumably failed to gather his rosebuds and take
advantage of the opportunities that crossed him. Because he seems to be speaking from
experience, he is most likely an older man. The speaker is addressing a group of virgins or
young unmarried women, and advising them to waste no time being coy and modest because
life passes by faster than one thinks, and as you reach an older age, you don t want to look back
and regret the opportunities they let pass them by. They should take advantage of the time they
have left and get married especially when youth and blood are warmer. The speaker addresses
concerns of the virgin s time, the delicacy of life, growing old, and the approach of death, all of
which are evident in his choice of words. He also puts much emphasis on time and how swiftly it
passes by. Although the poem can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern readers will always be able to comprehend the idea of taking advantage of every
opportunity before life passes you by. However, this was written during a period of strife, war,
and when the longevity of life was significantly shorter than it is today. The emphasis of time
would have been important in an era where people didn t live as long. That s where it disconnects
from modern readers although life is far from everlasting, our lifespan has drastically increased, so
the importance of embracing every moment gets lost. Another major disconnect from modern
readers is the idea that someone isn t living life to the fullest until they get married. In other eras,
women s social status was depicted on who she married, but in the majority of today s society,
people are independent from one another and their status is mostly based on their own

History of the Indian Rupee
The currency of India is the rupee. Rupee is derived from the Sanskrit rupyakam which means
coin of silver ( Indian Rupee ). The rupee has transitioned through several governing bodies over
its recorded history. Each transitional phase can be traced by the examples of the rupee notes as
follows: early private and semi governmental banks, Government of India, King George V, King
George VI, Indo French Territories, Indo Portuguese Territories, Prisoner of War Coupons, Princely
States, cash coupons of Princely States, and post Independent India (Indian Currency Collector

Victoria, but those designs were quickly modified to account for the original simplicity. The notes
were printed on watermarked paper in England and included the signatures of Lord Canning (The
Viceroy) and Samuel Laving (the successor Finance Member). The denominations of these notes
were: Rs. 10, Rs. 20, Rs. 50, Rs. 100, Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 (Indian Currency Collector).
In the early 1900 s as paper currency grew in popularity, the notes were universalized to ease the
restrictions on cashing the notes only within originating circle(s). The restrictions were eased
gradually, with the smaller denominations being universalized first. The issuing circle name
continued to be printed on the notes, either in full or as initials (Keynes p.44).
King George V (1917 1932 A.D.) The crisis of precious metal supplies during World War I in
1917 lead to the first notes featuring King George V s picture. The government also issued lower
denominations of the rupee for the first time, specifically the Rs. 1 and Rs. 2.5. During the 1920 s,
notes featuring King George V s portrait were issued in Rs. 10 and Rs. 5 denominations (Indian

Things Fall Apart Olunde
Like Okonkwo, Olunde stands alone. He acts alone, and no one can tell him what to do. He prides
himself in his accomplishments, but ultimately he recognizes that his education was not his shining
achievement. He understands that that education and the degree comes at a price. But even
Olunde, like Okonkwo, has a sense of tradition and heritage and cultural obligation which grounds
him. Like Okonkwo fulfilling the oracle s prophecy to kill Ikemefuna, Olunde must return to the
village to bury his father. When it becomes clear that the Horseman is not prepared to follow the
King in death, Olunde steps up to replace him. In a conversation with Joseph, another black man

The same can be said for Olunde, although the Pilkingses attempts to clear his mind are

This is why he cannot integrate; this is why Jane Pilkings scolds him; this is why the aide de
camp calls him such horrible names. He cannot be civilized. No one can. Because the whole
system of civilization is impossible. Europeans try to impose white ways on Black people, to rid
them of their cultures, but even when all of this is achieved, you have somebody like Olunde
who refuses to lay down at the white people s feet. He has very little more than contempt for
these people. Characterizing best his attitude toward the Europeans, he had this to say to Jane

A Personalized Sergei Bodrov
A role in a movie is like a mirror that reflects an actor s personality. Some actors are capable of
playing certain roles but not others. If an actor can feel the role, he or she will play it naturally,
as it would resemble his or her life. Actors put their heart into playing, which gives them the
model. Through a role an actor connects to the audience who makes the final decision about the
movie s purpose; that is why it is very important to show this purpose correctly by playing it
sincerely. Personalization is a significant factor that can lead to the success or failure of a film.

The Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) is an annual college
entrance examination in India, used as the sole admission criterion by the IITs. The examination
is organised each year by one of the various IITs, using a round robin rotation pattern. It has a
very low admission rate (about 1 in 50 in 2011). A proposal for replacing (IIT JEE) with a
common engineering entrance examination was made in 2010 and but due to resistance from
many IIT s this proposel is still under consideration. For Post Graduate studies, the entrance is
conducted on the basis of the Gate score card which is organised by IISC, Bangalore and IIT s

Negligent Nixon: The Watergate Scandal
The President of the United States is one of the most coveted, but difficult positions to obtain in
the world. Every four years a new leader is elected to uphold the supreme laws of the land that
make up our constitution. The president is sworn into office on their inaugural day in January
where they are sworn to faithfully execute and support all laws in the constitution, delegate
international matters, and be an advocate for the people. As the new leader of the United States of
America and, the free world as a whole, the President of the United States has many roles and
functions, including: Commander in Chief, Chief Diplomat, Chief Legislator, Chief Magistrate,
Chief Executive, Party Leader, Chief of State, Foreign Policy Director, and Popular Leader.
The President of the United States is one of the most powerful people in the world, and therefore
the people place an immense amount of trust in them. The people want someone they can trust
because they are who will represent the entire country. When an elected President does not uphold
or stay true to their duties it can cause uproar within society. If a president acts in a way that
smears their reputation it is very difficult for them to regain the trust and support of the citizens.
For many, a strong bond is now broken and cannot be repaired. There have been few presidents
who have broken bonds with the American people, in particular: Richard Nixon. Nixon s

A Tale Of Two Moral Stories
A tale of two moral stories
Geoffrey Chaucer was a great author of the 12th century. He was known as the father of English
poetry. Chaucer is the author of the famous work The Pardoner s tale ., the book is a collection of
short stories. The Pardoners Tale and the The Doctor of Medicine are two of the tales Chaucer
writes in The Canterbury Tales. The Pardoners Tale It is told by a man who is deeply affected by
the sad tale of The Doctor of Medicines tale , he uses the story to preach against those who are
blasphemous and gluttonous. The Doctor of Medicine is a story about a man whose daughter is
beautiful beyond belief and the greedy judge wants her at any cost. The judge s greed ultimately
leads to the daughters demise. Both tales teach a valuable lesson regarding greed and lust and
morals, one may be a slightly better teacher though. This essay explains if the Pardoner is a
more effective teacher than the Doctor of Medicines tale. The Canterbury tales has a tale within
that is told about a physician called The Doctor of Medicine . This tale is about a man named
Virginius. Virginius is a knight who has one daughter she is a beautiful young virgin who also is

Reflection Paper On Immigration In America
Puebla is a city in east central Mexico, southeast of Mexico City. Puebla is known for its culinary
history, architecture, pottery, and beautiful culture. However, it s plagued with extreme poverty,
immigration issues, and sexual violence. I had the opportunity to visit this city twice between
sophomore and senior year. Both visits shaped me in a drastic way and changed my view on many
things. The most formative event that occurred during my experience in Puebla took place in an
immigrationcenter. My views regarding immigration prior to visiting this center were always in a
state of fluctuation. I never really knew or even cared how I stood on the idea of immigration,
but once I arrived there everything changed. It was a gloomy day and we had driven a long three
hours to plainly get to the center, everyone was in a somber mood and just wanted to go home.
The moment I walked into the center I knew something special was about to happen to me. The
atmosphere was bubbling and the people there were beautiful in their own right. After listening to
presentations about immigration we were given the opportunity to explore the facility. Looking
around all I saw was joy and laughter, this challenged me. How could people in such desperate
situations be so joyful? The answer to this question came through an immigrant I met, MarГa. She
was a gentle, humble, and quiet woman who only spoke when spoken to. After asking her a variety
of questions tears were brought to my eyes. She began her

a fearful disturbance, the full meaning of which I have yet to understand. (p.93) This vague
image is later concretized in the form of Bilasia, the Bhil woman whom he finds an ideal
combination of Otherness and the Self. Bilasia s exotic Otherness is clearly seen in her untamed
beauty , her promiscuity and her obvious difference from the respectable wife, Meena. Yet, how
is Bilasia an ideal other for Billy Biswas, the upper class Hindu? Perhaps this may be explained by
the way tribals have generally been viewed as peripheral communities within the dominant Hindu
fold. So while recognizing the tribal Otherness, the Hindu view also makes them accessible.
Moreover, Bilasia has beauty albeit an untamed one and she belongs to the Bhil community, which
has traditionally been seen as possessing many Rajput qualities, like valour, nobility etc.
Incidentally, one may compare the account of Billy s life with that of Verrier Elwin, an Englishman
who came to India as a Christian missionary in 1927. A few years later, varrier Elwin voluntarily
gave up his ministry and decided to devote himself to the tribal people of India. He started living in

What Was The Role Of Women In Brazilian Society
Many people expected order and progress to go relatively smooth, as long as the country was
progressing in a manner they wanted it to. When women started to gain authority, whether it be in
the public sphere or the private of their home, it sparked controversy. Many men did not agree with
the way women were portraying themselves in society. For example, Hollywood portrayed the
modern womanand many men did not like it. In a short time span we see the role of women
rapidly change in Brazilian society.Early on in Brazilian culture, the Brazilian Civil laws
essentially made women property of their husbands. Many people had the broad stereotype that
women were just Perpetual minors who were powerless to make final decisions about their... Show

Nuclear families began taking over the traditional household style. Women started to become
their own person instead of property. They could hold prestigious jobs and had a say in daily
life. The Revista Faminina played a tremendous role in society for women. It helped show them
there s many more opportunities out there than just staying in the home. By the 1920s shopping
became a regular occurrence for them. Advertisements in magazines even tried persuading
people to just buy clothes instead of making them. Peddlers made it easy for women to not even
have to leave the house if they did not want to. They gradually transformed from producers to
consumers thanks to the market economy. No more would they have to spend their days
sewing and catering to everyone else s needs. All of the rapid changes gave them a sense of
belonging and entitlement to equality in society. Health care was even on the rise for women
and children. New studies and advances in technology made hospitals relatively easy to access.
Gynecologist started to become morally acceptable in society for women to visit. As health care
became a common issue many women adopted the role as caregivers. As we can see, when woman

Is The Internet Making Us Lazy Research Paper
Isn t it ironic that the internet has negative effects on us? Shouldn t the internet be making us
smarter and more intelligent? How the internet affects us depends on the way we use it. There are
different ways we use the internet but it is mainly for help on something. There is a cheating kind
of help and a research kind of help. Using the internetto copy answers for homework leads to misuse
and therefore has a negative effect on us. However, using the internet for research for a project is
helpful: people actually learn something. Even though the internet may tend to have more negative
than positive effects, both contribute to the changing sociological effects caused by the internet.
Since people are using the internet more than ever, it leads to a loss of focus on other tasks such
as reading. According to Nicholas Carr in, Is Google Making Us Stupid he ... Show more content on

In The Internet has Made Us Lazy, Brian Reich analyzes the causes to why it has made us lazy.
He explains that the internet and technology has changed the way we communicate and operate
and not all for the better (Reich 1). Reich indicates that the internet has made us lazy because we
settle for satisfaction instead of working hard to make things happen. Also, in You Won t Finish
this Article, Farhad Manjoo examines how people are too lazy to finish reading online articles
because of the habits they have produced over time. For example, he provides charts and
statistics that support that people are too lazy to finish reading articles: Schwartz tells me that
on a typical Slate page only 25 percent of readers make it past the 1,600th pixel of the page
(Manjoo 2). We have developed habits that make us lazy. For instance, we skim articles to find
an answer for a homework question and then we stop once we find an answer and write it down.
Since we do this over and over, it leads to lazy habits, which all stem from the

Variability Within The Dopamine System
Heterogeneity within the dopamine system becomes apparent early on in midbrain development.
Dopamine neurons are derived from the sonic hedgehog positive floor plate (Abeliovich and
Hammond, 2007; Blaess et al., 2011; Hayes et al., 2011; Joksimovic et al., 2009; Kittappa et al.,
2007). These immature neurons migrate from the ventricular zone into the mantle guided by a
complex network of interacting signalling and spatiotemporal expression of several transcription
factors, (Chung et al., 2005; Di Salvio et al., 2010; Simeone, 2005; Smidt and Burbach, 2007;
Smits et al., 2013). Some of this variable expression pattern also extends into adulthood: Ardbk2,

The transcription factor Otx2 is prevalently detected in TH+ neurons located ventral medial
VTA neurons, and this distribution is gradually decreased in the central and dorsal lateral VTA.
It has also been shown that Otx2 is sporadically co expressed with Girk2, while most if not all of
the Otx2+ neurons are Calb+, and those located in the ventral VTA are also Ahd2+ (Di Salvio et
al., 2010; Liang et al., 1996; Schein et al., 1998; Simeone et al., 2011). Despite this slight
anatomical and molecular topography, the cell bodies are still largely intermingled within the
midbrain nuclei (Fig 1).
One recent study attempted to deconstruct the molecular diversity of the midbrain dopamine
system. They postulated the existence of several molecularly distinct dopamine neuron subtypes and
used a microfluidic dynamic array to simultaneously evaluate the expression of 96 genes in single
neurons (Poulin et al., 2014). Using this method identified two main clusters of neurons. They also
uncovered 10 genes that appeared to be expressed uniformly in all dopamine neurons (PD linked
genes: Atp13a2, Lrrk2, Park2, Park7, and Pink1. Transcription factors: Foxa1, En1/2, Lmx1b, Pitx3,
and Nr4a2). Although informative, this study does have some limitations. Firstly the method used
restricts the identification of novel subgroups to a combination of only 96 different genes taken
from previous gene expression studies. This could have

Heart Attacks Or Myocardial Infarctions
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) every year about 735,000 Americans have a
heart attack. Of these, 525,000 are a first heart attack and 210,000 happen in people who have
already had a heart attack (CDC, 2015). Heart attacks or myocardial infarctions (MI) can be fatal
if appropriate steps and protocols are not followed soon after the onset. It requires critical
thinking by nurses and the health care team to reduce the damage to the heart and prevent death.
Every year 425,000 people in the United States die from a MI (Ignatavicius Workman, p. 831,
2013). Key nursing interventions, and implications will be emphasized as well as common
complications that may occur. Pathophysiology Myocardial infarction is defined as irreversible
necrosis of myocardial tissue as a result of inadequate blood flow for a critical period of time.
(Duksta Younker, 2012). A MI occurs when cardiac tissue is suddenly deprived of oxygen. Most
MIs are the result of atherosclerosis of a coronary artery, rupture of the plaque, subsequent
thrombosis, and occlusion of blood flow (Ignatavicius Workman, p. 829, 2013). When there is a
blood flow reduction in the heart of 80% to 90%, ischemia occurs, which can be followed by
necrosis of cardiac tissue if blood flow is not reestablished. A MI is further broken down by the
American College of Cardiology, there is the non ST elevation MI (NSTEMI) and the ST
elevation MI (STEMI), with the ST elevation showing on a 12 lead

Operation Mincemeat Research Paper
Several years after World War Two, the British government publicly unveiled how they used a
corpse to fool the Germans into believing that the Allies would invade Greece, instead of Sicily.
Dubbed Operation Mincemeat , it became the most successful and influential espionage mission
in World War Two. The mission was critical for reinforcing Hitler s fear of an Allied attack on the
Mediterranean, granted the Allies an easy victory in the capture of Sicily, and ensured the
outcome of the entire war. To begin with, in 1943, Hitler feared an Allied attack on Greece and
Sardinia. So, when he received intel of a top secret Allied plan to invade those very countries, he
immediately transferred the majority of his forces from Sicily to Greece. This... Show more content

To begin with, when the British used Operation Mincemeat to capture Sicily, they also increased
their chances for a successful invasion of Italy. This is because Sicily is a small island, located
just at the bottom of Italy. The capture of Sicily will allow the Allies to march their troops
upward into the heart of Italy, and launch their ships across the Tyrrhenian Sea, near the coast of
Italy. The text states, The island at the toe of Italy s boot commanded the channel linking the
two sides of the Mediterranean, just eighty miles from the Tunisian coast. (Macintyre 85) Sicily
also granted the Allies a chance to invade France, distract German troops on the Eastern front,
force Italy out of the war, and finally break the Pact of Steel , which would greatly increase
Allied morale. The author says, An invasion of Sicily would open the door to Rome, draw
German troops from the eastern front to relieve the Red Army, allow for preparations to invade
France, and perhaps knock a tottering Italy out of the war. Breaking up the Pact of Steel forged in
1939 by Hitler and Mussolini would shatter German morale, Churchill predicted, and might be the
beginning of their doom. (Macintyre 85 86) Secondly, Operation Mincemeat was also a huge
success for the Allies,

William Coverdale ( 1488-1569 ), The Great Bible
William Coverdale (1488 1569), The Great Bible
The atmosphere changed in England as Rome and Henry the VIII came into conflict. Henry the VII
wanted to divorce his Catholic wife, Katherine of Aragon, the Catholic Church refused. When the
Pope refused, Henry VII renounced the Catholic Church and appointed himself head of the Church
of England. To spite the Catholic Church and unify his kingdom, he ordered the Bible printed and
translated into English, and placed in all the churches, the translation they placed in the churches
was the Great Bible. Miles Coverdale was the editor behind the Great Bible, which used the
Matthew s Bible as its basis. The size of the Bible, 16 ВЅ inches by 11 inches was the reason it was
called the Great Bible.
The Geneva Bible (1560)
When Mary Tudor (1553 1558) (Daughter of Henry VIII) became Queen of England, she tried to
restore Catholicism Protestants were persecuted and killed. Many fled to John Calvin s Geneva,
where another translation of the English Bible was prepared, the Geneva Bible. The Geneva
Bible translation (1557, 1560) was done under the direction of William Coverdale and John Knox
and influenced by John Calvin. This Bible became popular in England after Mary Tudor s
execution and Protestant persecution stopped. An act of the Scottish Parliament required it
compulsory for every householder who had an income above a certain amount, to buy a copy of
the Geneva Bible. The popularity of the

Disease Classification Structures
Disease Classification Structures
Health care information systems cover a wide range of issues dealing with the supervision and use
of biomedical information. Health information systems are central support tools in the
administration of health care services. An acceptable health information system is important not
only for evaluating the health needs of populations but also for preparation and for application of
health interventions. It is equally imperative in the assessment of programs. The goal of
information systems is to create an appropriate working environment. This is done by providing
initial and going training, allocating resources, and by managing unintended consequences (Wager,
Lee Glaser, 2009).

Death certificates are also pulled to determine the cause of death and monitor diseases that could
change and affect more populations. The data is pulled to analyze epidemiology and provide control
of diseases across the world.
Any negative aspects of your selection
Every system in healthcare has its positive and negative traits. Though there are few disadvantages
to the classification of diseases, understanding them is of importance. New diseases are being
found yearly to even monthly, and every several years the classification of diseases needs to be
updated, which can cause changes to the past and current classification. Once the system has been
changed, and it is important that there is proper communication of the change so this classification
of system remains understandable and useful. Categories for past census may be different from
past categories, so these changes will also make it hard to compare past and current census.
Conclusion
Disease classification information structures are very important for the health care community. The
ICD is used to monitor health care disease and categorize the disease in a format that is universal
to all health care organizations. The ICD has provided a system to assist in the reimbursement
process for health care organizations. The ICD is also important to monitor diseases and prevent the
spread of infection. The ICD information structure has provided a standard that

Essay on Red Hot Chili Peppers
Red Hot Chili Peppers
A passion for foods from the American Southwest is sweeping through the country. The main
component and most popular item of this fad is the chili pepper, an item of tremendous variability
and a staple of many people in Central America. In this country, chili peppers were once only found
in specialized ethnic stores, but now it is just as likely to be found at the neighborhood Kroger. For
most people, however, their knowledge stops here. Through this paper I hope to educate the reader
on some other aspects of this intriguing vegetable, such as its history, chemistry, and uses.

Dr. Chanca described chili peppers as the native s principle food and compared them to the turnip
(Andrews 1984).
The seeds of the chili pepper were brought back to Spain, where it was grown in monastery
gardens. Portuguese traders then spread the chili peppers to many far flung locations, such as India,
Indonesia, and Persia (Andrews 1984).
Chile peppers became popular due to their great variability in size, shape, and color.
Unfortunately, this long proved to be a problem for the taxonomists, who frequently had trouble
telling the difference between a different variety and a different species. It wasn t until the 1950
s that it was decided that there were five main species of chili peppers, and twenty wild ones
(Proulx 1985). The five main species are: Capsicum annum, Capsicum frutescens, Capsicum
chinense, Capsicum baccatum, and Capsicum pubescens. However, it is considered impossible to
develop a system of classification that would cover all of the chili peppers, due to the great
variation among the members of the same species, especially in places such as Mexico (Smith,
Villalon, and Villa 1987).
Man s interest in chili peppers has resulted in new varieties, such as the TAM Jalapeno, Hidalgo
Serrano, and Numex Big Jim, which have a milder flavor or are more resistant to disease. In order
to make chili peppers more palatable to the public, chili pepper breeders are breeding varieties that

The setting is in the winter there is no time. However, it was outside in the field near some water

snow angels which again involves snow. Snow only happens in the winter which should tell you

Relationships in the 1800 s are very different from a typical relationship in the present day. In the
1800 s, when a male and female came together to form a relationship, the male was always superior
to the female. During that time, the formation of a relationship gave the male utter control over his
partner. Nora and Torvalds relationship was established during a time where all women accepted
their fate of being inferior to males. Since then, women have been challenging that stereotype and

It seems that for most of Nora s life she s been under the thumb of a man. Another noticeable
difference that bounces off equality is the inability of Nora to work or do as she pleased. In a
typical relationship now, it is expected that both the male and female work to provide for their
family, as today s society has adapted to allowing the male to not feel a constant pressure to provide
as the responsibility is shared. In the present, research shows that more and more men are becoming
stay at home husbands, working from home and raising their children at the same time. A man that
stayed at home whilst the woman worked was unheard of during the time of Nora s and Torvalds
relationship. Whereas during the time of Nora and Torvalds s relationship, it was expected that
the female took care of all the home keeping, whilst the male worked to support the family.

and now Homo Sapien was also using their resources. The Homo Sapien were more adaptable and

Many outsiders strive but fail to truly comprehend the haunting incident of World War II s

event which repossesses the core of human psyche. Elie Wiesel and Corrie Ten Boom are two of
these survivors who, through their personal accounts, allow the reader to glimpse empathy within
the soul and the heart. Elie Wiesel(1928 ), a journalist and Professor of Humanities at Boston
University, is an author of 21 books. The first of his collection, entitled Night, is a terrifying
account of Wiesel s boyhood experience as a WWII Jewish prisoner of Hitler s dominant and

The most important theme portrayed in Night is defined later by Wiesel himself: The executioner
killed for nothing, the victim died for nothing...During the Middle Ages, the Jews, when they
chose death, were convinced that by their sacrifice they were glorifying and sanctifying God s
name. At Auschwitz, the sacrifices were without point, without faith, without divine inspiration...
(Douglas) Wiesel feels that the genocide of WWII came and went and proves no point to the
world, gives neither strength nor hope to the individual, and is basically pointless. After the
inhumane persecution, his God is not praised by a greater audience, Hitler and his Nazi party
does not gain more power, Jews are not respected by others, and the world as a whole is not given
reassurance of a better future. To Wiesel, the Holocaustrepresents nothing but evil, guilt, and the
decay of human morality. (Popular World Fiction, II 35) As does Wiesel, Ten Boom preaches of
the importance of learning from past mistakes and not recycling a detrimental experience.
However, the evangelist in Ten Boom preaches beyond historical remembrance into the depths of
spiritual growth. She strongly believes that the world and its creatures are fated by God and that
every experience witnessed by an individual is predestined with the purpose of teaching a life

The Kite Runner And Oedipus Rex Comparison Essay
As I read The Kite Runner and Oedipus Rex I came to a realization that both the books were very
graphic. In The Kite Runner I discovered that Hassan had been raped by Assef, and Amir had no
intentions to stop what was happening to stand up for his best friend. That gruesome experience
can translate to what happened in OedipusRex. In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus wife, Jocasta, winds up
killing herself knowing that she married her son, but that s not it. At the very end of the book
Oedipus stabs himself in the eyes out. Those horrific images only happened due to the theme
betrayal and not being able to step up and say the truth until it s too late.
In the book The Kite Runner, Amir ruined Hassan and his friendship because he was too much
of a coward. Amir was considered a coward and even called himself a coward in the book due to
the fact he was afraid to stand up for his friendship when Hassan needed him the most. As
Hassan was in the alley getting raped by Assef, Amir says, I stopped watching, turned away from
the alley...I could step into the alley, stand up for Hassan and accept whatever would happen to
me. Or I could run. In the end, I ran (Hosseini 77). Amir in this situation thought about himself
and instead of standing up for Hassan like Hassan has always done for him, Amir chooses to not
help. He was too scared to get hurt. The reason Amir did not go help Hassan was because he was
too worried on finding Baba. Growing up Baba never gave him the attention or

Digital Filters And The Digital Filter
2.1.2 Digital Filter
Digital filter is a digital algorithm or device which is composed of a digital multiplier, adder and
delay element. The function of the digital filter is to carry out the operation of the digital code of
the input discrete signal in order to achieve the purpose of changing the spectrum of the signal.
Digital filter has a lot of practical forms, can be roughly divided into two kinds of type: finite
impulse response (FIR) and infinite impulse response (IIR). It can be used in both hardware and
software platform. In the hardware implementation method, it is composed of an adder, a
multiplier, which is completely separate from the analog filter which is composed of resistors,
inductors and capacitors. Digital signal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another outstanding advantage of it is that the strict linear phase can be achieved when some
symmetry conditions are met. Since linear phase filter does not change the shape of the input
signal, but only make the signal delay in the time domain, so the linear phase characteristics has
very important significance in the engineering practice, such as in data communications, image
processing and other applications. It often require that the signal can not have obvious phase
distortion in the transmission and processing, so FIR filter has been widely used.
The causal finite impulse response filter of length M can be described by the transfer function
H(z): (1)
It is a polynomial of and its power is M 1. In time domain, the input and output relationship of the
finite impulse response filter is: (2) y(n) is the output sequence and x(n) is the input sequence.
A direct realization of finite impulse response filter, which can be generated by formula (2).
M=5 is shown in Figure 2.2. The transpose, as shown in Figure 2.3, which is second direct type

coefficients and requires a M multiplier and (M 1) a two input adder to achieve.

the parcels, also received their salaries from Canada Post. Due to these benefits; Canada Post and
its subsidiaries have a huge competitive advantage over their competitors, such as UPS, in the
private sector (Notice of Intent, 2000). This is due to the lowered operating costs and availability
of resources that the other companies did not have available to

The Impact Of Japan s Attack On Pearl Harbor
Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because Japan was lacking raw materials, so Hideki Tojo wanted to
take over the Philippines who was colonized by America at that time and America was scared
about Japan grabbing colonies and getting oil and other goods (344). In December of 1941,
Japanese warplanes struck Hawaii, America was not ready when it came upon them. Soon after,
America declared war on Japan along with Britain and Germany; Italy declared war on America
helping Japan. America was successful on winning the sea battle since they knew they were
coming, from cracking their secret code. It was very easy to locate the Japanese and their ships
and America destroyed everything and Japan lost their dominance at sea. The U.S. were fully

Essay on The Concerto
The Concerto
Since the Baroque era, the concerto has played a vital role in the music world. According to the
Merriam Webster dictionary, a concerto is a composition for one or more soloists and orchestra
with three contrasting movements. There are two main types: the concerto grosso and the classical
concerto; both will be discussed later. While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in
context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define.
The basic elements that make up a concerto include three movements with one movement usually
dedicated for a solo instrument such as the piano or violin with orchestra accompaniment. Since the
late 18th century, the first movement is most likely in the sonata form ... Show more content on

By doing this, the sound made by the groups swells, portraying to the audience a sound of
growth and progression. According to the textbook Music Appreciation Online, in this type of
concerto, a tutti section, a full orchestra (with basso continuo), and a small group of solo
instruments usually referred to as the concertino or principale is used. In the concertino section,
two or more soloists are used. Arcangelo Corelli was the first major composer of the concerti
grossi (the Italian form of the concerto grosso). The concerto grosso comes in two major forms:
the concerto da chiesa (church chant) and the concerto da camera (chamber concert). The
concerto da chiesa was used for formal occasions and alternated between adagio and allegro
movements. For the most part, the movements were written in the same key, however there were
occasions where one or more of the movements were in contrasting tonality. The sonata de
camera was made up of a prelude and a succession of dances that were all in the same key. Its
structure was that of a slow introduction, a fugued allegro, a cantabile slow movement and an
energetic finale. This setup created its dancelike sound and feeling. The sonata da camera
composition grew to be referred to as a suite, a partita, or in the French opera

Animal Farm, by George Orwell Essay
The main purpose of satire is to attack, and intensely criticise the target subject. This is superbly
carried out in the classic piece of satire, Animal Farm. The main targets at the brunt of this political
satire are the society that was created in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, and the
leaders involved in it. George Orwell successfully condemns these targetsthrough satirical
techniques such as irony, fable, and allegory. The immediateobject of attack in Orwell s political
satire is the society that was created in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolutionof 1917. The events
narrated in Animal Farm obviously and continuously refer to events in another story, the history of
the Russian Revolution. In other words, Animal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dogs growl and bite the way real dogs do but to support Napoleon s drive for political power.
Orwell never forgets this delicate balance between how real animals actually behave and what
human qualities his animals are supposed to represent. Let s just say Orwell hadn t used the
technique of storytelling, and had painted an objective picture of the evils he describes. The real
picture would probably be very depressing and extremely boring. So instead, he offers us a
travesty of the situation. The primary reason for this abstraction was to move readers from the
concrete reality. So whilst entertaining us through a fantastic setting, he provides us reader with a
critical vision towards his targets. It is written for entertainment, but contains sharp and telling
comments on the Russian revolution and it s leaders, offering `imaginary gardens with real toads
in them . Part of the fable s humorous charm lies in the simplicity with which the characters are
drawn. Each animal character is a type, with one human trait, or two at most traits usually
associated with that particular kind of animal. Using animals as types is also Orwell s way of
keeping his hatred and anger against exploiters under control. Instead of crying, quot; All political
bosses are vicious pigs! quot; he keeps his sense of humour by reporting calmly: quot;In future, all

Hernan Cortez Accomplishments
Did you know that past explorers were known to travel for riches and fame? They just wanted to
be known, and be able to say they were there, and seen many things; or the accomplishments they
have made. For instance, Hernan Cortez was born in 1485 in Medellin, Spain. He was a Spanish
conquistador who defeated the Aztec Empire and claimed Mexicofor Spain. He also studied at the
university of Salamanca. In 1504, he traveled to Santo Domingo and settled in a town called
Azua and served as a notary. In 1515, he joined the expedition of Cuba led by Diego Velazquez and
served as the mayor of Santiago. In 1518, he set sail to Mexico with eleven ships and five hundred
men. By 1519, he reached the Mexican coast.
Some hardships Cortez faced included him becoming allies with natives, and others. he used
deadly force to conquer Mexico. He fought Tiaxacan and Cholula warriors. He marched to
Tenochtitlan and captured the ruler Montezuma II., although , he had to leave because the Spanish
troops were coming to arrest him for disobeying orders. But he did return later because the
Spanish was set out by the Aztecs. In 1515, he conquered the Aztecs and King Charles appointed
him to be the governor of New Spain. Some interesting facts about Hernan Cortez was that after he
conquered the Aztecs, his authority and position was questioned, and they also formed a rebellion
against him. Between 1540 1547, he spent time being recognized for his achievements, and support
from the Spanish royal courts. Unlike modern day explorers like Neil Armstrong who studies
science and have passion for things in space.
Neil Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio on August 5, 1930. Neil Armstrong was the first
man to walk on the moon. After serving as naval aviator from 1949 to 1952 he joined the National
Advisory Committee Aeronautics (NACA) in 1955. His first assignment was with NACA Lewis
research center (NASA) in Cleveland. Over the next 17 years he was an engineer, test pilot,
astronaut and administrator for NACA and its successor agency, the national aeronautics and space
administration (NASA). Neil Armstrong became an astronaut in 1962. He was assigned a
command for Gemini 8 mission. Gemini was launched on March 16, 1966 and Armstrong

Billy Pilgrim Anti Hero
Seen throughout war novels, an anti hero is a character that manifests characteristics that usually
appear foolish, making the character an easy target of abuse and a child like status. In the fictional
novel, Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, the protagonist, Billy Pilgrim is a classic anti hero
character. He lacks both valor and dignity, making it easy for his fellow soldiers to make fun of
him and treat him like a child. In addition, Billy possesses a physical appearance that is foolish
and childish, making it hard for him to gain respect from people of higher authority. He is meek,
mild and unassuming. During his travels as a soldier in WWII, Billy is constantly treated as a
lower individual and when enemy forces catch him, he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Alexander The Great Tactics Essay
Alexander the Great was one of the most prominent leaders on the battlefield. His war tactics
and strategies have led him to become the leader of the most powerful, largest empire in the
ancient world in the 300 s BCE. Alexander the Great used unique strategies shown in the battle of
Tyre, Granicus and Gaugamela to defeat The Persian Empire. The Persian Empire at the time
controlled most of Asia, Middle East and North Africa. #1 Body paragraph: Alexander the Great
was a master at siege warfare which preceded him to triumph in the Battle of Tyre in 332 BC. As
Alexander the Great was heading to Egypt, he conquered many places along the Eastern
Mediterranean. One of the places was the Island of Tyre on the eastern coast of Lebanon. This Island

Near a small village of Gaugamela in present day Iraq, two powerful empires engaged in a battle;
Persia and Macedon. The Macedonian army was one fifth the size of Persia s. Alexander risked
everything on this one battle, if he wins the richest empire on the planet is his and if he loses
45,000 men will be slaughtered and Greece would be open to invasion. Alexander the Great was
confident and he did not care less. With his war tactics and strategies he knew he could pull out
one of the most fascinating victories of all time. Darius II had laid out his battle line in a
tremendous challenge for his opponents; two and half mile long. Alexander the Great was
overlapped by a half a mile from each side which made it possible for Darius s cavalry to go from
both sides. Alexander the Great thought of it as hard challenge but his complex tactics could
not let him down. The Macedonian Phalanx was probably the most potent weapon of war in the
ancient world; 256 men arranged 16 across by 16 deep. The spears were around 15 to 18 feet
long. The Phalanx formation was deadly and overwhelming. The Phalanx was arranged with the
left side facing outward away from the battle expecting an attack from the side. Running on foot
are the cultists; Alexander the Great s light infantry. Cultists would be all over the battlefield,
they would have a variety of weapons. They used short range arrows, javelins and sling shots.
These weapons were important as they would hit high value targets such as the chariot groups.
The cultists was one of Alexander s key strategies to win the battle. Darius II released his
powerful weapon; the chariots. Alexander the Great knew it was coming, he taught his phalanx
army a brilliant tactic to defeat them. He taught his men to trap the chariot, it is called; the
mousetrap. A horse would never go towards a line of men holding sharp spears, so if you open

Unions And The Freedom Of Collective Bargaining
Right to Work provides no rights and no work ...It s purpose is to destroy labor unions and the
freedom of collective bargaining (Martin Luther King). The roots of labor unions in the United
States dates back to the late 18th Century, when skilled craftsmen joined forces against low
product prices. Since then, labor unions have been practical to both the economy and the people
which it employes. It has allowed laborers to make great strides in the protection of rights in their
work. It has also increased wages, causing a strengthening of the middle class. Because of the
benefits to the workers, an increase in wages, making a stronger middle class , and its historic
success for the economy in struggling times , unionization is generally a better option than non
unionization. The essential reason why unions exist is for the benefits of its workers. Throughout
the history of the United States labor unions have been created to protect the working class from
harsh conditions and low wages. For example, the American Federation of Labor (AFL) formed to
lobby to raise the workers wages, and improve the conditions in which they worked. But more
important in the long run was the permanent stamp that the AFL made on the American labour
movement...and the objective of trade unionism became exclusively the incremental achievement
of higher wages and better working conditions (Organized Labour). During and after the Industrial
Revolution, as portrayed in The Jungle

Soccer Team-Personal Narrative
Well, this is it. Today is the day where I finally try out for my school s soccer team. This morning
i woke up startled by the enormously loud sound of an alarm on my friend s phone. His name
was Bailey Ivester. I ve known him since 6th grade year. Boy is he annoying sometimes. Most of
the time he acts like he is the top dog or the best of the best . He stayed over at my house the day
before, we were both supposed to try out for the soccer team. To be honest. He really wasn t that
good at it. Like i said, he thought he was the best of the best . After we woke up Bailey and i ate
breakfast that my motherhad prepared. It was so delicious and very specific. She had made my
favorite chocolate chip pancakes, applewood smoked bacon, cheesy... Show more content on

We were going against Lexington high school. While we walked onto the field examined the
other team. I had a lot of confidence in myself and tried to hype up my team and gave my team
an inspiring speech when we all came together to form a circle. Next we all walked onto the field
into our positions, i was starting. I was the left forward position. Forwards in soccer are the most
difficult position on the field because that was the position where your suppose to score most of the
points and control the offense. I was always a forward because coach said i had a lot of speed,
agility, and good footwork. At this time the game had started, we had the ball first i passed it to the
other forward on our team. His name was Jimmy, he was the most aggressive forward on our team.
He was a great forward. At this time it was near the end of the game. The score was 3 6 we were
losing terribly. Everybody on our team was tired and bummed out and lost hope. We were all tired
of losing all the time. I saw the emptiness in everyone s eyes. I felt sad as well. While i was running
on the field i heard our goalkeeper named Matias yell out GRAYSON !!. I turned around fast and
forgot everything else. I saw Matias lob the ball down the other side of the field to where i was
running. My eyes were all on that ball, i saw it flying in the air then falling towards me while i
ran as fast as i could to catch up to it. A voice in my head just kept saying, just go for it! . So i
waited at the right moment to where the ball was perfectly positioned to where i was able to
header the ball into the goal. Finally it was that time, i lunged into the air as high as i could, as
soon as i tried to header the ball into the goal in mid air. One of the players on the opponent s
team came out of nowhere!! He was so fast, i don t know where he came from. While i was still
in the air he had jumped towards me to get the ball as well. At this time he had

Martin Luther King and became a part of what was then known as the Chicago Project : whose
basic goals were to improve the life of inner city youth, such as the gang members. The Black
King Cobras: The Black King Cobras were also formed in the Englewood area of Chicago. They
formed in August of 1960, and were lead by Jerome Prince Shorty Freeman and Harold Money
Walker their history is very similar to that of David s and Devil s Disciples, because they were
such a close group from the start. Being formed for much of the same reason and having such a
similar history to that of the Disciples I will only touch on a few important parts of their history.
First: they were the first gang in Chicago (Quite possibly the whole USA too) to ever using gang
signs. The sign was the formation of 2 hands in the shape of a Cobras head. Second: in 1962 a
young man named Larry Hoover had sex with Jerome s then girlfriend. This would be the start of
a resentment that would last for three decades. Third: Jerome was always really big on Black
Rights and Political activism. He began to teach both Harold and Durkey about the Black
Nationalism Movement, after a while this moved to include many others, among them where
David, Mac, Shell, and Howard just to name a few. The Supreme Gangster Nation: The Supreme

What Are Advantages And Disadvantages Of India
Indian higher education is not only large in scope but complex in its working and evolution. One
indicator is existence of four different types of universities depending on who funds them and
regulates them. For example, Deemed to be Universities come under the purview of UGC and
are mostly funded by private resources. They were also in controversy for corruption and
qualitative deficiencies for profiteering. This also tainted the name of some of the better quality
private Deemed to be Universities. Given the regulatory and media attention to the deficiencies
with Deemed to be Universities, Private Universities gained attraction. This is evident from their
growth from 100 to 140 in less than a year as compared to no growth of Deemed to be Universities
in the same period. The private universities are working hard to attract students away from central
and state universities by offering differentiated courses incorporating features like triple mains,

The degree certificate hanging on the wall at the end of the programme is no more than a sheet

important benefits of the MBA include not just the knowledge that one absorbs while on the
programme, but the necessary learning skills that accompany this. The two are combined in a
single system referred as knowledge management. It is argued that the MBA is a first step in a
process of lifelong learning, and this is a formulative learning experience. The ideas and skills
gained here will affect the students personal and professional life forever after. Many candidates go
into an MBA program seeking a career change. During recruitment season they find that their skills

  • 2. John Cage s Work Of Art John Cage s work, 4 33, premiered in 1952. It is comprised of three movements, during which the performer opens and closes the lid to signal the beginning and end of each segment. The piece is based on indeterminacy, the idea that the piece will change each time it is performed. Indeterminacy was a reaction to serialism, where every aspect of a piece of musicwas structured to avoid repetition. Paul Ziff, an artist and philosopher, wrote an article in 1997 titled, Anything Viewed. This article asserted that a work of art is something that is fit to be an object of aesthetic attention (Ziff, 1997). He classifies this fitness based on a person p , who performs a certain action a with a work, or entity e under the right conditions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When this piece was performed for the first time at an event for sponsors of avant garde music, the audience was confused and upset. They had spent money to what they perceived as sit in silence only to watch a man open and close a lid six times. When we listened to this piece in class on April 21, 2017, we were informed of the piece beforehand and were expecting an allotted time of silence. While sitting in expected silence, we heard the noises of the room, people drinking water, coughing, and breathing. But the original audience was listening for traditionally understood sounds. Additionally, as Ziff comments on the Sistine Chapelmurals and how they are not aesthetically worthwhile, because the conditions have failed the person (1997). He states, it would be worthwhile if... the Chapel was turned on its side, otherwise, it is painful too look at and difficult to see in detail. Based on these criteria, 4 33 is a work of art based on these criteria. A person can perform an action with the entity in certain circumstances. If the individual is aware of the piece being performed, he can perform an action with the piece by interacting with its message of how we live our lives in expectation while also blocking out other aspects that we otherwise would have experienced. Of course, this is all based on the circumstances, there are certainly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Top Ten Issues Facing National Parks Research Paper In society, everyone is attached and more focused on technology rather than the nature and wildlife of planet earth. Some people might argue that the parks or green spaces produce too many greenhouse gases which will pollute the cities. However, our cities already have a lot of pollution so if greenhouse gases are added to the mix it won t be of any harm. People also argue that parks take up land space that could be developed for retail and the use of natural resources. Parks actually help contribute to the economy because it helps in the real estate market and ticketed events are held there which contributes to the community s economy. Not only is the fresh air good for your body but walking around the park can help improve overall health and bring down obesity levels. America... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Large amounts of the funds are needed to keep a lot of the national parks up and running. However, the money is mostly being put towards the tourism side of the parks and not the upkeep. The parks need to be properly maintained in order to preserve the natural beauty of the park itself. In the web based article Top Ten Issues Facing National Parks by National Geographic it states that National parks protect the historic buildings in which America s history was made...but some of these hallowed edifices are crumbling...they re a big part of a $9.5 billion maintenance backlog that plagues the park system. In other words, the parks have a lot of unresolved issues that need to be taken care of but upkeep on the nature side needs to be taken care of as well. An example of this is that non native species are being introduced to the parks. This is a difficult issue because no park has closed borders so it is hard for the management to control every single animal that come and go from the park. The national parks and recreation department is working on a variety of solutions for the issues ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marijuana can damage lungs, it can affect cardiovascular shape and it puts you at higher risk for heart attack or stroke, raises blood pressure and many other harmful effects. You can also end up getting addicted to marijuana (Watson4). It s a very dangerous drug especially if driving. There are many DUI s and deadly accidents that are marijuana related each year (gray1). • 6. The Role Of God In The Gospel Of Mark If you were to choose one word to describe the composite nature of the kingdom of God, it would most likely be hazy. Throughout the old and new testament, we re presented with the theory of what the kingdom of God is. Only to find out it is either a safe haven for God s loyal followers or a sign of the imminent apocalypse (or second coming). Both beliefs of the kingdom of God were presented in the synoptic gospels, especially in the Gospelof Mark. The author in this case is able to combine the ideas of apocalyptic literature into the hopeful message that those who followed the Lord will be rewarded for their faithfulness. Ultimately, the gospel of Markuses writing features of apocalyptic literature as a scare tactic for obedience. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is seen throughout the Gospel of Mark, the readers or early Christians were presented with the mindset that was needed in order to enter the kingdom of God. If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell where their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched, (Mark 9:43 48). Inherently, this metaphysical world is plagued by both evil and good, but which path is needed in order to enter the theorized kingdom of God? The Marcan Gospel claims the followers of Jesus must forgo what makes them sin, which can be considered the evil in this world. By doing this there is a promise of an eternal reward for going against the ways of the world. This idea highlights the concept presented in apocalyptic literature called divine justice. The premises behind divine justice is that the followers of Jesus may not get an earthly reward, but they will get a spiritual reward for their faithfulness. Mark highlights this idea of divine justice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What anatomical features of the small intestine lend it to the digestion and absorption of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins? Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease triggered by ingestion, of gluten containing foods. The disease results from inappropriate T cells immune response against gliadin in genetically predisposed people. Individuals with this disorder have high levels of antibodies to a variety of antigens. It contains many circular folds that increase the surface area of the functional mucous membrane. Enterocytes are cells found in the upper part of each villus and secrete enzymes for the digestion and absorption of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. Not having the villi within the inner surface of small intestine makes the body is unable to absorb nutrients essential for health and growth. Instead, nutrients such as fat, protein, vitamins, and minerals are eliminated in the stool (NIDDK, 2018). 2. Sometimes individuals with celiac disease experience steatorrhea (fatty stools) after eating foods containing gluten. What are the chemical components that normally digest fats in the small intestine, and how are the fats are absorbed? The digestion of lipids occurs mostly in the small intestine, mainly the upper jejunum. Lipases from the pancreas are secreted into the small intestine as a part of pancreatic enzyme and breakdown lipids to fatty acids. Bile salts, created by the liver, enter the duodenum to mix with fatty acids to form micelles. The development of these micelles allows the absorption of fatty acids at intestinal villi. The speaker seems to be speaking from experience, so he presumably failed to gather his rosebuds and take advantage of the opportunities that crossed him. Because he seems to be speaking from experience, he is most likely an older man. The speaker is addressing a group of virgins or young unmarried women, and advising them to waste no time being coy and modest because life passes by faster than one thinks, and as you reach an older age, you don t want to look back and regret the opportunities they let pass them by. They should take advantage of the time they have left and get married especially when youth and blood are warmer. The speaker addresses concerns of the virgin s time, the delicacy of life, growing old, and the approach of death, all of which are evident in his choice of words. He also puts much emphasis on time and how swiftly it passes by. Although the poem can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Modern readers will always be able to comprehend the idea of taking advantage of every opportunity before life passes you by. However, this was written during a period of strife, war, and when the longevity of life was significantly shorter than it is today. The emphasis of time would have been important in an era where people didn t live as long. That s where it disconnects from modern readers although life is far from everlasting, our lifespan has drastically increased, so the importance of embracing every moment gets lost. Another major disconnect from modern readers is the idea that someone isn t living life to the fullest until they get married. Chaucer is the author of the famous work The Pardoner s tale ., the book is a collection of short stories. The Pardoners Tale and the The Doctor of Medicine are two of the tales Chaucer writes in The Canterbury Tales. The Pardoners Tale It is told by a man who is deeply affected by the sad tale of The Doctor of Medicines tale , he uses the story to preach against those who are blasphemous and gluttonous. The Doctor of Medicine is a story about a man whose daughter is beautiful beyond belief and the greedy judge wants her at any cost. The judge s greed ultimately leads to the daughters demise. Both tales teach a valuable lesson regarding greed and lust and morals, one may be a slightly better teacher though. • 16. Reflection Paper On Immigration In America Puebla is a city in east central Mexico, southeast of Mexico City. Puebla is known for its culinary history, architecture, pottery, and beautiful culture. However, it s plagued with extreme poverty, immigration issues, and sexual violence. I had the opportunity to visit this city twice between sophomore and senior year. Both visits shaped me in a drastic way and changed my view on many things. The most formative event that occurred during my experience in Puebla took place in an immigrationcenter. My views regarding immigration prior to visiting this center were always in a state of fluctuation. I never really knew or even cared how I stood on the idea of immigration, but once I arrived there everything changed. It was a gloomy day and we had driven a long three hours to plainly get to the center, everyone was in a somber mood and just wanted to go home. The moment I walked into the center I knew something special was about to happen to me. The atmosphere was bubbling and the people there were beautiful in their own right. After listening to presentations about immigration we were given the opportunity to explore the facility. Looking around all I saw was joy and laughter, this challenged me. How could people in such desperate situations be so joyful? The answer to this question came through an immigrant I met, MarГa. She was a gentle, humble, and quiet woman who only spoke when spoken to. After asking her a variety of questions tears were brought to my eyes. She began her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(p.93) This vague image is later concretized in the form of Bilasia, the Bhil woman whom he finds an ideal combination of Otherness and the Self. Bilasia s exotic Otherness is clearly seen in her untamed beauty , her promiscuity and her obvious difference from the respectable wife, Meena. Yet, how is Bilasia an ideal other for Billy Biswas, the upper class Hindu? Perhaps this may be explained by the way tribals have generally been viewed as peripheral communities within the dominant Hindu fold. So while recognizing the tribal Otherness, the Hindu view also makes them accessible. Moreover, Bilasia has beauty albeit an untamed one and she belongs to the Bhil community, which has traditionally been seen as possessing many Rajput qualities, like valour, nobility etc. Incidentally, one may compare the account of Billy s life with that of Verrier Elwin, an Englishman who came to India as a Christian missionary in 1927. A few years later, varrier Elwin voluntarily gave up his ministry and decided to devote himself to the tribal people of India. He started living in the Chhattisgarh area, along with Shamrao Hivale. How the internet affects us depends on the way we use it. There are different ways we use the internet but it is mainly for help on something. There is a cheating kind of help and a research kind of help. Using the internetto copy answers for homework leads to misuse and therefore has a negative effect on us. However, using the internet for research for a project is helpful: people actually learn something. Even though the internet may tend to have more negative than positive effects, both contribute to the changing sociological effects caused by the internet. • 22. Variability Within The Dopamine System Heterogeneity within the dopamine system becomes apparent early on in midbrain development. Dopamine neurons are derived from the sonic hedgehog positive floor plate (Abeliovich and Hammond, 2007; Blaess et al., 2011; Hayes et al., 2011; Joksimovic et al., 2009; Kittappa et al., 2007). These immature neurons migrate from the ventricular zone into the mantle guided by a complex network of interacting signalling and spatiotemporal expression of several transcription factors, (Chung et al., 2005; Di Salvio et al., 2010; Simeone, 2005; Smidt and Burbach, 2007; Smits et al., 2013). Some of this variable expression pattern also extends into adulthood: Ardbk2, Gsg2k1, Pbx1/3, Ahd2, and Dssrl1 are expressed in subsets of SNc dopamineneurons and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transcription factor Otx2 is prevalently detected in TH+ neurons located ventral medial VTA neurons, and this distribution is gradually decreased in the central and dorsal lateral VTA. It has also been shown that Otx2 is sporadically co expressed with Girk2, while most if not all of the Otx2+ neurons are Calb+, and those located in the ventral VTA are also Ahd2+ (Di Salvio et al., 2010; Liang et al., 1996; Schein et al., 1998; Simeone et al., 2011). Despite this slight anatomical and molecular topography, the cell bodies are still largely intermingled within the midbrain nuclei (Fig 1). One recent study attempted to deconstruct the molecular diversity of the midbrain dopamine system. They postulated the existence of several molecularly distinct dopamine neuron subtypes and used a microfluidic dynamic array to simultaneously evaluate the expression of 96 genes in single neurons (Poulin et al., 2014). Using this method identified two main clusters of neurons. They also uncovered 10 genes that appeared to be expressed uniformly in all dopamine neurons (PD linked genes: Atp13a2, Lrrk2, Park2, Park7, and Pink1. Transcription factors: Foxa1, En1/2, Lmx1b, Pitx3, and Nr4a2). Although informative, this study does have some limitations. Of these, 525,000 are a first heart attack and 210,000 happen in people who have already had a heart attack (CDC, 2015). Heart attacks or myocardial infarctions (MI) can be fatal if appropriate steps and protocols are not followed soon after the onset. It requires critical thinking by nurses and the health care team to reduce the damage to the heart and prevent death. Every year 425,000 people in the United States die from a MI (Ignatavicius Workman, p. 831, 2013). Key nursing interventions, and implications will be emphasized as well as common complications that may occur. Pathophysiology Myocardial infarction is defined as irreversible necrosis of myocardial tissue as a result of inadequate blood flow for a critical period of time. (Duksta Younker, 2012). A MI occurs when cardiac tissue is suddenly deprived of oxygen. Most MIs are the result of atherosclerosis of a coronary artery, rupture of the plaque, subsequent thrombosis, and occlusion of blood flow (Ignatavicius Workman, p. 829, 2013). When there is a blood flow reduction in the heart of 80% to 90%, ischemia occurs, which can be followed by necrosis of cardiac tissue if blood flow is not reestablished. Chile peppers became popular due to their great variability in size, shape, and color. • 35. The Kite Runner And Oedipus Rex Comparison Essay As I read The Kite Runner and Oedipus Rex I came to a realization that both the books were very graphic. In The Kite Runner I discovered that Hassan had been raped by Assef, and Amir had no intentions to stop what was happening to stand up for his best friend. That gruesome experience can translate to what happened in OedipusRex. In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus wife, Jocasta, winds up killing herself knowing that she married her son, but that s not it. At the very end of the book Oedipus stabs himself in the eyes out. Those horrific images only happened due to the theme betrayal and not being able to step up and say the truth until it s too late. In the book The Kite Runner, Amir ruined Hassan and his friendship because he was too much of a coward. Amir was considered a coward and even called himself a coward in the book due to the fact he was afraid to stand up for his friendship when Hassan needed him the most. As Hassan was in the alley getting raped by Assef, Amir says, I stopped watching, turned away from the alley...I could step into the alley, stand up for Hassan and accept whatever would happen to me. Or I could run. In the end, I ran (Hosseini 77). Amir in this situation thought about himself and instead of standing up for Hassan like Hassan has always done for him, Amir chooses to not help. He was too scared to get hurt. The reason Amir did not go help Hassan was because he was too worried on finding Baba. Growing up Baba never gave him the attention or ... • 36. Digital Filters And The Digital Filter 2.1.2 Digital Filter Digital filter is a digital algorithm or device which is composed of a digital multiplier, adder and delay element. The function of the digital filter is to carry out the operation of the digital code of the input discrete signal in order to achieve the purpose of changing the spectrum of the signal. Digital filter has a lot of practical forms, can be roughly divided into two kinds of type: finite impulse response (FIR) and infinite impulse response (IIR). It can be used in both hardware and software platform. In the hardware implementation method, it is composed of an adder, a multiplier, which is completely separate from the analog filter which is composed of resistors, inductors and capacitors. Digital signal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another outstanding advantage of it is that the strict linear phase can be achieved when some symmetry conditions are met. Since linear phase filter does not change the shape of the input signal, but only make the signal delay in the time domain, so the linear phase characteristics has very important significance in the engineering practice, such as in data communications, image processing and other applications. It often require that the signal can not have obvious phase distortion in the transmission and processing, so FIR filter has been widely used. The causal finite impulse response filter of length M can be described by the transfer function H(z): (1) It is a polynomial of and its power is M 1. In time domain, the input and output relationship of the finite impulse response filter is: (2) y(n) is the output sequence and x(n) is the input sequence. A direct realization of finite impulse response filter, which can be generated by formula (2). M=5 is shown in Figure 2.2. The transpose, as shown in Figure 2.3, which is second direct type structure. Typically a finite impulse response filter with a length of M is described by M coefficients and requires a M multiplier and (M 1) a two input adder to achieve. • 37. Conflict Between UPS And Canada Post The case started on January 19, 2000 when UPS served a Notice of Intent to Submit a Claim to Arbitration to the Government of Canada for a breach of certain obligations under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) (Notice of Intent, 2000). The real conflict is between UPS and Canada Post, where UPS alleges that they participated in anti competitive practices that are illegal. Canada PostCorporation was formed under the Canada Post Corporation Act in 1981. They have the exclusive rights of operating a postal service in Canada, having a monopoly in letter mail (Notice of Intent, 2000) Canada Post expanded into the courier business through Purolator, Priority Courier, Skypak, and Xpresspost. It dominates the Canadian market with control of almost 50% of the courier business in Canada. As Canada Post is a state enterprise under the Government of Canada, the government is thus expected to regulate and ensure that Canada Post does not conduct any unfair business practices.... • 39. Essay on The Concerto The Concerto Since the Baroque era, the concerto has played a vital role in the music world. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a concerto is a composition for one or more soloists and orchestra with three contrasting movements. There are two main types: the concerto grosso and the classical concerto; both will be discussed later. While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define. The basic elements that make up a concerto include three movements with one movement usually dedicated for a solo instrument such as the piano or violin with orchestra accompaniment. Since the late 18th century, the first movement is most likely in the sonata form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing this, the sound made by the groups swells, portraying to the audience a sound of growth and progression. According to the textbook Music Appreciation Online, in this type of concerto, a tutti section, a full orchestra (with basso continuo), and a small group of solo instruments usually referred to as the concertino or principale is used. In the concertino section, two or more soloists are used. Arcangelo Corelli was the first major composer of the concerti grossi (the Italian form of the concerto grosso). The concerto grosso comes in two major forms: the concerto da chiesa (church chant) and the concerto da camera (chamber concert). The concerto da chiesa was used for formal occasions and alternated between adagio and allegro movements. For the most part, the movements were written in the same key, however there were occasions where one or more of the movements were in contrasting tonality. The sonata de camera was made up of a prelude and a succession of dances that were all in the same key. Its structure was that of a slow introduction, a fugued allegro, a cantabile slow movement and an energetic finale. This setup created its dancelike sound and feeling. • 40. Animal Farm, by George Orwell Essay The main purpose of satire is to attack, and intensely criticise the target subject. This is superbly carried out in the classic piece of satire, Animal Farm. The main targets at the brunt of this political satire are the society that was created in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, and the leaders involved in it. George Orwell successfully condemns these targetsthrough satirical techniques such as irony, fable, and allegory. Let s just say Orwell hadn t used the technique of storytelling, and had painted an objective picture of the evils he describes. The real picture would probably be very depressing and extremely boring. So instead, he offers us a travesty of the situation. The primary reason for this abstraction was to move readers from the concrete reality. So whilst entertaining us through a fantastic setting, he provides us reader with a critical vision towards his targets. Alexander the Great was confident and he did not care less. With his war tactics and strategies he knew he could pull out one of the most fascinating victories of all time. Darius II had laid out his battle line in a tremendous challenge for his opponents; two and half mile long. Alexander the Great was overlapped by a half a mile from each side which made it possible for Darius s cavalry to go from both sides. Alexander the Great thought of it as hard challenge but his complex tactics could not let him down. The Macedonian Phalanx was probably the most potent weapon of war in the ancient world; 256 men arranged 16 across by 16 deep. The spears were around 15 to 18 feet long. The Phalanx formation was deadly and overwhelming. The Phalanx was arranged with the left side facing outward away from the battle expecting an attack from the side. Running on foot are the cultists; Alexander the Great s light infantry. Cultists would be all over the battlefield, they would have a variety of weapons. They used short range arrows, javelins and sling shots. These weapons were important as they would hit high value targets such as the chariot groups. The cultists was one of Alexander s key strategies to win the battle. Darius II released his powerful weapon; the chariots. • 44. Unions And The Freedom Of Collective Bargaining Right to Work provides no rights and no work ...It s purpose is to destroy labor unions and the freedom of collective bargaining (Martin Luther King). The roots of labor unions in the United States dates back to the late 18th Century, when skilled craftsmen joined forces against low product prices. Since then, labor unions have been practical to both the economy and the people which it employes. It has allowed laborers to make great strides in the protection of rights in their work. It has also increased wages, causing a strengthening of the middle class. Because of the benefits to the workers, an increase in wages, making a stronger middle class , and its historic success for the economy in struggling times , unionization is generally a better option than non unionization. The essential reason why unions exist is for the benefits of its workers. Throughout the history of the United States labor unions have been created to protect the working class from harsh conditions and low wages. For example, the American Federation of Labor (AFL) formed to lobby to raise the workers wages, and improve the conditions in which they worked. But more important in the long run was the permanent stamp that the AFL made on the American labour movement...and the objective of trade unionism became exclusively the incremental achievement of higher wages and better working conditions (Organized Labour).
