When I was young, I was terrified of vacuum cleaners. This fear came to be when
my mom took me to Famous Footwear to buy new shoes. The employee there was
wearing flip flops and she had a band aid on her big toe. When I asked her what had
happened, she said that her vacuum cleaner ate her toe. Ever since then, I had an
ultimate fearof vacuum cleaners. In the story The Elevator by William Sleator,
Martin, the 12 year old boy, also struggles to overcome his fears. Martin and his
father move to a new apartment complex. When they arrive, Martin is greeted by a

The book A Night Divided, is a great book. It is about a girl named Gerta and her
family. She has an older brother Fritz, a brother Dominic, her father (papa) and her
mother Frau Lowe. The Berlin Wallhad just gone up after the Second World War
separating East and West Germany, and her and her family live in the West. One
night her brother Dominic and her father decide they need to get through the wall
for work without guards noticing because the consequences could be deadly. Her
brother and Father make it across but they cannot find a way to come back
because the wall has been added on and is even more dangerous now. Gerta ends
up not being able to talk to her father or brother for at least 4 years. One day Gerta
was walking to school with her best friend Anna when she see s her brother,
Dominic on the other side of the wall and waves. She eventually ended up seeing
her dad to but then she got caught by an officer by the name of Officer Muller. She
ended up getting away from the Officer but she knew he would be watching her
every move from now on. But everyday when she goes to school she see s them on
the platform and her dad is doing a dance that he always did for her as a kid when
they were little. But, he continues doing the digging scene from the dance trying to
give her a signal that he wants her to do something or he is going to do something.
But if Gerta tries to cross that wall it could be deadly and we don t know what would
happen.
The three main characters of the book are Gerta, her brother Fritz, and Anna which
is Gerta s best friend. Gerta is the main character and she is very determined, brave
and loves her family very much and wants them all together again. Fritz is Gerta s
older brother who has her back and is with her for everything. He is a hard working
man and will have to go and be a soldier if they do not make it to the other side of
the wall in time. Anna is Gerta s best friend and they always are there for each
other. When one day Anna s older brother Peter tried to escape and Gerta knew that
Peter was going to escape but did not tell Anna and their best friend relationship

Abstract Throughout the years, Critical Thinkers have learned ways to become
effective when it comes to decision making and problem solving. Critical Thinking
requires you to actively use your mind to mentally process thoughts and listen to

After watching Meerkat Manor, I believe that the group of Meerkats, called Whiskers,
most resemble the hunter gatherers. To start off, the elders within the Meerkat group
would continuously hunt and gather the food for offspring and those who cannot
take of themselves anymore. Just like traditional hunter gathers, the men would leave
to gather the larger preys while the women would stay and babysit the kids while
gathering nuts, berries, herbs, and small prey which they would use to feed the
children of the group to take care and support them through their lives.
Furthermore, the hunter gatherers travel in large groups called hordes, which is
what the whiskers have been shown to do within Meerkat Manor. These large
groups of Meerkat claimed land using scent, and followed the rules that were set

Paddy arrived they all felt a bit awkward and out of place but also a tad bit relieved
