Essay Value Of Education
Crafting an essay on the value of education can be both challenging and rewarding. The
difficulty lies not in the scarcity of information, but rather in the vastness of the topic. Education
is a multifaceted subject, encompassing historical perspectives, sociological implications,
economic considerations, and personal experiences. Balancing these aspects while maintaining
coherence and relevance requires careful research and thoughtful organization.
The challenge intensifies as one navigates the intricate web of statistics, studies, and
philosophical discourses that surround the value of education. Deciphering the significance of
education from diverse viewpoints demands a nuanced understanding of its implications on
individual lives, societal progress, and global development. It requires delving into the
complexities of educational systems, addressing issues like accessibility, equality, and the
evolving nature of knowledge in the modern era.
Furthermore, expressing the value of education in a way that resonates with a diverse audience
adds another layer of difficulty. The writer must engage readers emotionally, intellectually, and
ethically, conveying not only the practical benefits of education but also its intrinsic value in
shaping individuals into informed, empathetic, and responsible members of society.
In the end, while composing an essay on the value of education may pose challenges, it is an
endeavor worth pursuing. The process invites writers to reflect on their own educational
journeys, grapple with the broader implications of education in various contexts, and articulate a
persuasive argument that inspires readers to appreciate the transformative power of learning.

Cyber Security, By Mark Rasch
The ISSA conference was very enlightening and interesting. Mark Rasch introduced
cyber security to us from a very different perspective that I haven t had anyone
explore before. To some extent it clears and clarifies some of the decisions that have
been taken resulting in the many different cases that I have read in the news
regarding cyber security. The closest example that comes to mind is the Snowden
case in regards to privacy and security laws.
In addition to that, I concur with Mark regarding the laws that are stated that in
terms of privacy are not as transparent and certain loopholes change the way these
laws can have effect upon an individual, organization or an employee. As per what I
understood from his initial remarks about lawmaking from his early work experience.
The scenarios that Mark jumped into, being that conference a room of senior
officials who have all the authority and power that they need to take certain kinds of
decisions that will change things beyond our borders. It was an on the spot exercise
that actually made me think harder and allowed me to grasp better the basic
knowledge and understanding of cyber security that I have gained throughout this
semester.
I have been recommended to read Sun Tzu s Art of War as it not only covers
strategic aspects of only war but the main analogy of it could be applied to an
individual s way of living and how he/she deals with the things that are encountered
in one s daily life. Keeping that in mind, his
Arts Principles
Chapter 2: Principles for Effective, High Quality Out of School Time Arts Programs
Chapter 2 is centered on ways to implement effective improvements to OST art
programs using stated and latent needs gathered from the participating teens and
tweens. Researchers compiled ten principles that ought to be followed/implemented
in order to engage more low income urban youth.
The ten principles are:
Principle 1: Instructors are professional, practicing artists, and are valued with
compensation for their expertise and investment in their professional development
Principle 2: Executive directors have a public commitment to high quality arts
programs that is supported by sustained action
Principle 3: Arts programs take place in dedicated, ... Show more content on

Closing Remarks
In the closing of the article, researchers were able to conclude that the reason we are
seeing an underutilization of OST arts programs amongst low income urban youth is
because of poor past experiences that have soiled their desire to participate.
Ultimately, what the youth that participated in the team s focus groups said they
wanted aligned with the KOL and case study informed principles.
Basically, the lesser engaged youth desired the principles utilized in higher quality
arts programs by the highly engaged youth. Researchers go on to suggest that this is
the aspect that could lead the lesser engaged youth to the next level. To fix the
damage that has been done, the team suggests that improving the quality of art
programs overall will start to affect an increasing number of youth. According to this
line of thinking, word of mouth will eventually spread, which would greatly increase.
How It Applies
Although the work that we do may not clearly align with the topic addressed by this
article, there are elements that parallel a couple issues with resident turn out and an
overall lack of full utilization when it comes to the resources offered by the CHA.
The following are a few of my suggestions and thoughts, but keep in mind that I am

Sociology Norms
Introduction Each individual has a role to play in his or her life based on the time,
place, and society that he or she lives on. Thus, understanding the role that every
individual should play is the way to success on their life. For example, [1] noted that
students short and long term value orientation, career success in the future, and
academic performance will be negatively affected if students cannot figure out the
norms and values of collage. Subsequently, rules, goals, norms, and contents for
educationmust be initially communicated with those who start their academic
study [1]. Furthermore, the person s performance of a given role is guided by
norms and values, which are based on the persons analysis of other people who
play the same role. However, there is a potential of misunderstanding of the
behaviors, attitude, and skills required to accomplish a new role. This
misunderstanding may happen for several reasons. Misinterpretation of norms and
rules for a given role, for example, is one major reason. The goal of this paper is to
test whether the understanding of norms and rules of a given role will help
individuals to be success in the role that they would play or not. This paper focuses
in a specific area, which is American higher education. I start by interviewing three
students who play a role as a collage studentto ask them several questions pertaining
to anticipatory socialization into students role, all of which I used to finish this paper.

Cosmology and Southern Gothic
The question, How did we get here, deals with cosmology, the study of the universe.
No one knows for sure how the universe works or how we got here, but many
Southern Gothic authors, such as Flannery O Connor and Edgar Allan Poe, use their
literature as a way of expressing their beliefs about the clockwork of the universe.
These authors use their dark and grotesque fictional stories to make sense of where
we, as humans, stand in the universe. In The Violent Bear it Away, O Connor uses
Francis Tarwater, a miracle who was saved by God, to answer the question, How
did we get here? Francis Tarwater goes through his life stuck in between two
completely opposite universes and is forced to choose which one he wants to be a
part of. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He eventually steps into the world of his great uncle Tarwarter and realizes that his
destiny forced him on a final revelation. (O Connor 233). O Connor shows through
young Tarwater s decision on the path of life he chose to take, to show God and the
universe impact people s lives in mysterious ways. Flannery O Connor displays the
theme of cosmology and explores the big picture of the universe in many other of her
Southern Gothic stories such as, The Lame Shall Enter First. The Lame Shall Enter
First is even more disquieting than most of O Connor s works, and her protagonist s
maneuverings for redemption are thoroughly skewed (Gentry 37). This short story is
about a widower, Sheppard, whose main purpose in life is to raise his only son,
Norton. But he abandons his son while trying to cope with the grief of his wife s
death. During this process, Sheppard turns his back on his hurting son, who is also
trying to deal with the death, and decides to do charitable deeds for others.
Sheppard tells his son, If you stop thinking about yourself and think what you can
do for somebody else then you ll stop missing your mother (O Connor____).
Sheppard s primary deed was taking in a troubled boy, from the local reformatory
he volunteers at named Rufus. Sheppard s dealings with Rufus are actually part of
an unconscious strategy for returning to an ideal. The ideal to which Sheppard
wishes to return, however, is his dead wife, and Rufus is to be her replacement

Assessment of Perineal Pain
Adequate and effective management of perineal pain begins with a comprehensive
assessment (Marcus et al, 2009; Breivikl et al, 2008; Dalton et al, 1999). However,
Andrews et al, (2008) UK based study concluded that there is no pain scale to date
that has been developed to appropriately and accurately assess the perineal pain that
women experience during the postnatal period. This begins to offer explanation as
why up to 92% of new mothers endure perineal pain in the early postpartum period
(Macarthur and Macarthur, 2004).To further support these findings Way (2012)
discovered that women expect perineal pain following vaginal birth but under
estimate the severity of the pain. Women will experience high levels of pain before
requesting analgesia as they attempt to normalise the pain as a consequence of
vaginal delivery (Swain and Dahlen, 2013). Macarthur and Macarthur (2004)
conclude that the current management of perineal pain is inadequate as the use of
analgesia is not standardised.
Both Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) and Andrews et al, (2008) used a prospective
cohort research design to obtain their data. The sample population that was needed to
ensure that the results produced were statistically significant was, therefore, larger
(Rees, 2011). Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) used a sample size of four hundred
and forty seven women from Toronto, Canada, and Andrews et al, (2008) included
two hundred and forty one women from London, England. The
The Legal Principles Of The Case Of Salomon V. Salmon
And...
The legal principle on company law established by the case Salomon v Salomon
Co Ltd is that a company upon incorporation is a body corporate which is
recognized by law to have a separate legal entity from its members and officers. The
company and members are two separate bodies. This is known as the veil of
incorporation. Thus, the debts of the company cannot be recovered from its
members. For example, the debts of the company cannot be recovered from its
member. Rather than the director or its member, a company is normally liable for
any breach by itself. A company is an artificial legal personthat exists independently
of the individuals who at any given time are the members of the corporate body. In
the case of Salomon V Salomon Co Ltd, even though Salomon managed the business
solely by himself, yet in law Salomon and the company is separate body as the
company has incorporated.
As a legal entity by itself, company can:
1.Enjoy perpetual existence and has its own legal personality.
2.Has its own legal personality.
3.Is separate from its members and officers and the change of its members and
officers does not affect its legal personality.

Voice Over Internet Protocol Term Paper
Introduction
Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a technology that offers voice
communications using the existing Internet protocols. Over the years the Internet has
developed as a very cheap medium that has been used to send electronic mails and
files across the globe. VoIP extends this concept and provides the facility to send
voice data between people using the IP framework. Since the Internet is a cheap
medium, enabling voice services through it will effectively cut costs that are normally
encountered in making calls through normal telephone lines. This would mean that
people across the world can talk to each other at a fraction of the cost that they could
be spending when they use normal telephone lines. This is exactly what makes ...

How VoIP functions
At the basic level, VoIP functions much like the common Internet services that are
available today. Voice data is received at one end of the IP network and is
compressed, digitized, and broken down into data packets with unique serial
numbers. A universal lookup table or an IP reference table helps the server at the
call originating end to find out the IP of the receiver to whom the call is placed.
Once the IP is resolved, data is sent to the destination IP much in the same fashion
that emails and web data is transferred across the network. The data packets that are
received at the destination end is collected, arranged according to sequence
numbers, and converted back to analog signals so that the receiver can hear the
voice. VoIP is possible between two computers, between two telephones that are
connected to a network or even between a computer and a telephone. This means
that a person with a PC can originate a call to a landline or vice versa [Jain, 2004]
The advantages of VoIP
В• Voice and Data Integration
VoIP is a definite step towards integration of voice and data; a need that has been
increasingly researched since the last few decades. Integration of voice and data
would mean that data transfer can be controlled effectively thereby making data
manipulation faster and more secure. VoIP will use a host of technologies like voice
encryption in future to ensure that data transfer across voice sensitive servers happen
Nostalgia In The Medical World
V.The word, nostalgia, has experienced an extensive history of dynamic meanings
and acceptance in the medical world.
A.The term originated in 1688 after Johannes Hofer merged the Greek words nostos
and algos to describe the pain resulting from the desire to return to one s home
(Natali, 2004, p. 10).
i.The word, nostalgia, increased in popularly, eventually being used outside of
Europe. ii. At this point of the word s history, it was used within the medical world to
describe a disease provoked by excessive attachment to a distant homeland, a
condition at first thought to be common particularly among natives of mountainous
regions. By the end of the eighteenth century, the notion was expanded to include
pathological attachment to any faraway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the latter part of the 1800s, nostalgia was no longer a part of the medical world,
misinterpreted and transformed into a word used to describe inefficient politics and
history from late nineteenth century and twentieth century.
A.It was now seen as a symptom of the real unease caused by an unjust society, a
condition that would disappear as soon as the underlying cause of the dissatisfaction
was done away with (Natali, 2004, p. 18).
B.Nostalgia thus became a label used to define those who fell outside of the modern
framework (Natali, 2004, p.11).
C.It became a form of melancholy by being a term employed to charge attachment to
and affect for the past with being both politically reprehensive and empirically
untenable and a longing for an earlier, simpler time (Natali, 2004, p. 11).
i.Nostalgia negatively affects not only history, as it is a progress toward an
improved state, (Natali, 2004, p. 11) but also politics, as Karl Marx claims it hinders
the moving towards greater individual freedom and scientific development but, more
significantly, towards a more just society (Natali, 2004, p. 11). ii. Attachment to the
past becomes a hindrance precisely because of the belief that the past is irreparably
lost, making nostalgia a desire without the possibility of fulfillment (Natali, 2004, p.
Pros And Cons Of Plastic Water Bottles
United States is the leading country on a global scale that produces and consumes
millions of gallons of water annually. Oil, a limited and expensive resource, is used
in the process of creating polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic water bottles
which is generally regarded as a safe and recyclable packaging material. (Palliser,
2010) The process of manufacturing bottled waterto meet the United Statesdemand
uses more than 17 million barrels of oil annually. (Ban the Bottle, 2014) The
following examples will help to visualize how much of valuable, natural resources
are used: in a year, the energy used to produce bottled water is enough to power
190,000 homes and the millions of barrels of oil used is enough to fuel 1.3 million
cars. (Ban... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to a four year, detailed investigation to evaluate the quality and safety of
bottled water conducted by an environmental advocacy group, the Natural
Resources Defense Council (NRDC), traces of various chemicals (THMs such as
chloroform and BDCM, both probable human carcinogens) and arsenic were
discovered in high levels. Another chemical found in PET plastic bottles is
antimony that is harmless in small doses but in larger doses can cause nausea,
vomiting, and death. (Ban the Bottle, 2014) A senior scientist at the NRDC, Dr.
Gina Solomon told The New York Times that there is no reason to believe that
bottled water is safer than tap water. (Ban the Bottle, 2014) Public water in the U.S.
is heavily regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) because they
require numerous tests for bacteria daily which are available to the public. The Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates bottled water and only require tests on a
weekly basis and does not share their discoveries with neither the public nor EPA.

Holden Caulfield Loneliness
In the American classic novel, The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, the main
character, Holden Caulfield, is suspended from Pencey Prep. Pencey Prep is
Holden s fourth school he has been to. Previously, he has been kicked out of other
institutions because he failed to apply himself. During his time at Pencey Prep,
Holden had made some poor relationships with his classmates and teachers. In the
end, Holden s suspension from Pencey Prep caused his perception on people to
shift as well as his development of loneliness. Holden s poor relationships with his
classmates and teachers, or people in general, was evident before he went to Pencey
Prep as well as during his stay at Pencey Prep. When Holden thinks back to his

He thinks that perhaps people weren t so bad because he starts to understand why
people do the things they do. During a taxi ride, Holden attempts to converse to the
driver by asking where the ducks of Central Park went when the lagoon froze over.
The driver made a smart remark and Holden responded similarly. He reasons that
...when I m with somebody corny, I always act corny too (79). This is the
beginning of Holden s change because he s learning to adapt to the ways of others;
he starts to speculate that his actions are comparable to the people he meets. Upon
arriving at his hotel room, Holden looks across to the windows of an opposite
room. He describes what he sees: I saw a man and a woman squirting water out of
their mouths at each other... The trouble was, that kind of junk was sort of
fascinating to watch, even if you don t want it to be (80 81). Holden observes a
crumby action from people but soon realizes that if he were given the opportunity,
he would have probably done it too. He starts to acknowledge that he wasn t so
different from other people. When Holden enters a bar and attempts to order
alcohol, he is denied by the waiter. But, Holden says: I didn t hold it against him,
though. They lose their jobs if they get caught selling to a minor. I m a goddam
minor (91). He accepts the reality of things. He finally accepts that he was a minor
and would be treated as such. At

To any person who is from a small town in Texas, football is king. Everything is
football or related to football, and in Odessa, Texas in 1988, football reigned
supreme. Football became the escape for people s problems and the town turned to
the Permian Panthers for and saw hope in a successful football team when there was
little hope to be found elsewhere. Each character in this story faces their own unique
trials and tribulations during the football season. Each one of them turned to football
as the key to solving their problems, much like everyone in their town does. Football
masked the problems in the characters homes, the financial hardship that troubled the
town, and covered up the large amounts of racism that were very prevalent at this
time. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As summer football practice begins, readers are introduced to the notable players
of the 1988 Permian Panthers; Boobie Miles, Jerrod McDougal, Mike Winchell,
and Brian Chavez. We are introduced first to James Earl Boobie Miles Jr., the team
s all star running back. Boobie lived a very hard life from the start. At the age of
three his mother moved to Oklahoma and left Boobie with his grandmother. He lived
for a short time with his father, but allegations of physical abuse resulted in a
lifetime of being bounced from foster home to foster home. Before Boobie started
high school, his uncle, L.V. Miles, adopted him giving him a stable home and a
positive role model. Influenced by his uncle, Boobie began to excel at sports,
especially football. Football provided another home where Boobie got the kind of
attention and admiration that led to opportunities someone from his background
didn t typically get a full ride scholarship to college. He also gained a lot of
attention for his attitude that was that nobody was as talented as he was. In the book
Boobie is constantly quoted in the book as saying, Put Boobie in if you wanna win

Manderly as an Appropriate Setting for a Gothic Novel
Manderly as an Appropriate Setting for a Gothic Novel A Gothic novel is
characterized by picturesque settings, an atmosphere of mystery and terror, and
element of violence and the supernatural.

shows the presence of violence. These plants add to the atmosphere of gloominess
and death, which made an appropriate setting for a Gothic novel.
Moreover, Manderly appears differently after the cloud covers the moon.
(p.4) The house was a sepulcher, our fear and suffering lay buried in the ruins.
The house would then become an isolated tomb that will never be inhabited by
anyone again. This hinted a much more significant meaning under its surface beauty,
which contributes to the setting of a Gothic novel.
In addition, the library in Manderly is like a church (p.76) a room for peace, a room
for meditation , with an ancient mossy smell, scrolled ceiling, dark panelling and
heavy curtains, also giving a sense of sacredness. (p.100) I must have lost my
bearings What s more, Manderly is similar to a castle or a maze, with many rooms
and corridors, that the heroine couldn t make her way on the first day of her arrival
to Manderly. There are different verbs describing the movement to places, for
example, went up , went along , turned left , etc.. This gave a sense of mystery.
By this, the above images made Manderly an appropriate setting for a Gothic novel
in spite of its surface beauty.
Folsom State Prison Mission Report
The United States has more than 2.3 million prisoners housed in approximately 1,800
state and federal prisons (Ingraham, 2015). Each one of these has their own formal
summary or mission statement that lists the goals and values of that institution.
These institutions offer several different programs for prisoners, to include
educational services and vocational training that is meant to help them reintegrate
back into society once their sentence is complete. I will look at four different adult
correctional systems in the United Statesand discuss their mission statements and the
programs they offer.

It is a small prison located in Warren, Maine, and has a population of only 916

Prison is to protect the public by providing a safe, secure, and humane correctional
environment for staff and the incarcerated offender. We further the mission and
promote rehabilitation by providing work opportunities and a comprehensive
treatment plan that encourages the offender to reenter society as a law abiding,

the guiding principles and provide a path to our primary mission (State of Maine:

besides the educational benefits, is that it encourages the inmates to become mentors
and tutors in the program, which helps them to develop more
Nationalism And Personhood
The relationship between personhood and nationalism is a complex and contended
discussion. There is extensive theory surrounding the contested understanding of the
ways personal identity and (national) social identities are mutually informed. It can be
argued that nationalism plays a role in shaping the personhood, as personal identity
draws on the cultural aspects of national identity and integrates these ideas into
individual self understanding (Hearn 2007). Through ethnographic case studies, this
essay will examine the role of Billig s banal nationalism , Cohen s personal
nationalism and Hearn s embedded nationalism in understanding how national
identities (as social categories) are linked to personhood and used to make sense of the

Tajfel s theory is centered on how the individual need for positive self image is
consequent to the outlay of personal identities into positively valued social identities
(Tajfel, 1974, 1981). These are supposedly contrasted with negatively valued
identities. To Billig, identities are not simply organized through processes, but instead
ways of habit entrenched into the surrounding environment, both material and social
(Billig 1995). It is argued that personhood is not merely linked to nationalism as a
process of filling psychological needs, but that individuals adapt to the environment
that renders these categories imperative (Hearn 2007, pp.

continuously being introduced to a once predictable business. With electricity
increasingly being considered as a commodity, transmission systems are being pushed
closer to their stability and thermal limits while the focus on the quality of power
delivered is greater than ever. In addition, dynamic reactive power support is

As I gave feedback, I utilized the following skills: I provided feedback in a timely
manner immediately after the skill check so that the account of my observations
would be fresh in mind. I focused on actionable behaviors, rather than things she
could not change. When she seemed flustered and forgetful, I suggested that she
take a moment to gather her thoughts, and move slowly through the process until
she felt calm and proficient. I used specific examples and concise language. When I
noticed that the residents shoes were sticking out from under the side of the bed and
looked like a trip hazard, I suggested that the head of the bed would be a safer place
to put them.
I also made sure utilize and balance positive and negative feedback by making the
quintessential positive/ negative/ positive sandwich. I was quick to compliment for
her comfortable and friendly demeanor with the resident, then talked about my
concerns with giggling and joking around with the wrong audience, then finished
with positive observations on her overall skill and competence. I made sure to listen
afterwards, and she explained her thoughts and realizations about how things had
gone from her perspective, and ended with overall agreement and supportive feelings
for each other.
Out of the five basic elements of caring communication, I chose to focus on
positiveness and openness. Positiveness is shown by having self confidence, a
positive, secure view of self, and by maintaining a favorable view of
Soccer Is The Most Popular Essay
Football, futbol, soccer, the beautiful game as Pele calls it, or whatever you call it,
is the most popular sport in the world. Though it is ultra popular, that doesn t mean
that you know the rules, history, or popularity of the sport, and that is when this
paper proves useful. I am going to inform you about soccer s history, popularity
around the world, necessary equipment, and rules. Firstly, let s explore the history
and popularity of the sport. The earliest form of soccer that is known was played by
soldiers keeping in shape in China around 5000 B.C. The game consisted of a fur
stuffed leather ball being kicked into a small hole. The FA was formed in 1863, and
FIFAwas formed in Paris, France in 1904. Now, as for popularity, as mentioned
before, soccer is the most popular sport worldwide. Also, there are approximately 250
million soccer players worldwide. (FootballBritannica Online Encyclopedia) Next up,

The pitch is a rectangle with two short goal lines and a halfway line dividing the
pitch into two halves. As for the ball, it has to have a circumference of 27 to 28
inches. In professional soccer, the ball used is a size 5. If the ball is kicked out of
bounds on the sides, it gets thrown in by a player from the other team. If the ball gets
kicked out on the line extending from the goal posts, it is either kicked in by the
goalie or a player from the corner. If a player tackles another player too dangerously
or an array of other fouls, a yellow card or a red card are given depending on the
severity of the foul. Two yellow cards equal a red card, and if a player gets a red card,
they are removed from the game and their team plays shorthanded. Of course no
hands are allowed except for the goalkeeper. A game consists of two 45 minute
halves, but the clock doesn t stop so the referee usually adds a short few minutes
after each halve called stoppage time. That is about all you need to know as far as

Introduction and Objective
Think about your favorite poem or poet. Many poets use figurative language within
their poems. Figurative language is language that is meant to create an effect and is
not meant to be taken literally. Similes and metaphors are both forms of figurative
language. You have most likely seen many examples of similes and metaphors in
your life, even if you didn t realize it.
Today s lesson objective is:
Students will write poetry that includes similes and/or metaphors.

Now that you know how authors often use similes and metaphors to create imagery
in their poems, think about how you can do the same. If you are asked to write a
poem using similes and metaphors, where do you start? First, you need to choose a
topic. Maybe you decided to write a poem comparing your friends to a group of wild
animals.
You might decide to compare one of your friends to a bear you could say
something like, Sam is a bear in the mornings when he doesn t want to get out of
bed. You might compare another friend to a lion by saying, When Jana is angry, her
face turns bright red, her hands shake, and she roars as loud as a lion.
A great first start is to create a graphic organizer, which will help you to organize your

Working of Wind Turbines
There are a large number of literatures available on the study conducted to improve
the working of wind turbines. Some of these researches have been implemented
practically while others are still in experimental phase. A literature was prepared by
Md. Mahfouz Sarwar, Nazia Nawshin, Muhammad Ali Imam and Mohammad
Mashudon on A new approach to improve the performance of an existing small wind
turbineby using Diffuser. They have studied the improved effect of diffuser on the
performance of a small windturbine system. They have analyzed two hollow
structures: Nozzle and Diffuser. Also by experimental setup they have proved that
the wind speed in diffuser was greatly influenced by diffuser open angle, and speed
increases near the inlet region of it.
3.1 Selection of Diffuser Shape
Khulna University of Engineering Technology (KUET) had done smoke wire
analysis on two types of hollow structure models, a nozzle and a diffuser. The
experiments revealed that a diffuser shaped structure can accelerate the wind at the
entrance of the body. They examined the inner flow of two typical hollow structures,
namely a nozzle type model that reduces the inside cross section and a diffuser type
model that expand the inside cross section downstream. The diffuser model has a
remarkable effect on the collection and acceleration of the approaching wind. It has
been found that the wind tends to avoid the nozzle type model, while the wind flows
into the diffuser type model as it is inhaled.

ETHIOPIAN JEWS
Throughout the bible, the people of Ethiopia had intermingled and intermarried with
the descendants of Shem even before Abraham was born. Abraham and his
descendants have racially intermixed and intermarried with the Ethiopians from the
beginning of the Hebrew Jewish origins, as many Ethiopians were known to be
Hebrew Jewish descent. Moses and his family were Hebrews having Ethiopian
origins. There are many Jewish communities in Ethiopia today, and one of these
groups are the Falashas or Beta Israel meaning the House of Israel . The Falasha are
believed to descent from Menelik 1, who was known to be the son of Solomon and
Queen of Sheba. The large number of the orthodox Jews believed that the Falasha
were the descendants of the tribe of Dan, and they were among the ten lost tribes of

Solon And Lycurgus Essay
Solon and His Inferior Lycurgus. Of many ancient rulers, two are made very
memorable. Lycurgus, ruler of Sparta, and Solon, ruler of Athens, made significant
impacts on their polis that would continue throughout ancient Greek history. The
reforms that were created by these rulers can be disputed in regards to their benefit on
their city state. The reforms Solon implemented were more efficacious in producing
democratic change in Athens then those reforms that were executed in Spartaby
Lycurgus. Due to the fact Solon is a man of middle ground, two reforms that are
seen as superior to those of Lycurgus are the changes in trade as well as government.

Life at Sparta in several ways resembled that of a military camp, (Powell 2001, 219).
Many laws that Lycurgus proposed revolved around the benefit of the Spartan
military. These implementations set by Lycurgus do not give any benefit to the
democratic changes occurring in society at the time.
Solon and his reforms are excellent examples of how Athens developed the road to
democracy, and how the benefits of these reforms make Solon superior to
Lycurgus as a ruler. Solon, a man of middle ground, was urged forward by the
people to rule over them and to settle differences between the rich and the poor.
Solon, on the other hand, could not go to such extremes in his constitution, since he
was a man of modest fortune and had been chosen by the people. Yet he made full
use of his power, relying on the good will of the
citizens and their confidence in him, (Plutarch, 22.16). Since the people chose
Solon to rule, he stood a middle ground, and made decisions based on what was
best for the people, a true example of democracy in Athens. Solon also benefited the
citizens of Athens through is reforms relating to trade. Solon implemented a law that
required every man to have a trade. He sought to dignify all trades and ordered the
Council of Areopagus to inquire how every man made a living and to punish those
who had no occupation, (Plutarch, 22.22).
Different Areas Of Improvement Within The Special
Activities
There are four areas areas of improvement within the Special Activities (SA)
Command that would contribute to a more positive culture and working environment.
They are Management Structure, Business Intelligence, Performance Appraisals, and
the organizations handling of Rewards and Punishment. The current culture cannot
be improved without adjusting the current organizational norms and behaviors and in
most cases the inverse of that is true as well. Because of this interdependence between
culture and organizational norms there will be times that improving one area has
positive returns on the another.
Management structure should be relooked and possibly restructured. The
management structure that is currently in place is not conducive to the work function
that it oversees. Before the problem can be fully understood it is important that the
players and their positions be clarified.

of time such as in Newjack: Guarding Sing Sing (Conover. T. 2000) when he went
undercover as a correction officer, or prison guard, (Conover. T. 2000) for a year to
find the information that he was not able to gather in any other way as he was a

To Conover s true style whilst writing Coyotes: A Journey Across Borders With
America s Illegal Migrants (Conover. T. 1987) he went undercover, again for a year,
to explore and understand illegal immigration, the immigrants and the mercenaries
involved. At first Conover was trying to describe the sensation of crossing the border
without actually putting himself at risk, and at involvement but, when that failed and
it was pointed out that without ever actually crossing the border himself he would
never truly understand, Conover decided that he would find a way to cross the
border much the same as the illegal immigrants did, and he succeeded.
Coyotes (Conover. T. 1987) was written in the hopes that it would help better
understand the impact that illegal immigration had on the two societies, American

The Success Of Luxury Brands
Luxury brands should be able to effectively create some emotional connection with
its customers and should not strive to please mass markets, but specifically to only
those customers whose beliefs align with the brands. Beliefs go further to establish a
connection than just brand values; they are more specific and consequently lead to
higher diversification (Keller et al, 2008). Ferrari provides a good example of this.

Like Chanel, luxury brands should strive to achieve as broad a spectrum of icons
associated with their brand as possible (Peterson, 2014).
The place(s) in which the brand is sold is a vital aspect of luxury branding success. If
a brand can create an atmosphere that is aesthetically and emotionally pleasing, then
it evokes luxury to its customers. One example of this is men s bespoke shirt maker,
Charvet Place VendГґme, often referred to as simply Charvet. Situated in the one of
the hГґtels particuliers (the French equivalent to a grand British townhouse) that
surrounds the Place VendГґme in Paris. The Charvet store operates across seven
floors within this building. This store epitomises elegance and grandeur and as such,
Charvet have created a temple like store, for which their customers can enjoy their
products, allowing for a deeper more emotional connection to the brand itself (Mr
Porter, 2015).
Customers are pulled towards brands with the promise of becoming part of an
exclusive community. This creates a sense of great desire to purchase luxury
branded products. For example, Hermes, which specialises in leather, lifestyle
accessories, fragrance, ready to wear clothing as well as other luxury goods, will not
allow customers to buy their iconic handbags until they have formed a long term
relationship with the brand itself (Grigorian and

negative side. Even though most of the mass media is typically associated with
negative outcomes, it should not undermine the positive outcomes of mass media.
One of the most important mass media form that generates positivity is television.
Typically, many view television as a troublesome form of mass media that draws
children s attention away from studying and doing well in school; however, when

watching international co productions of Sesame Street has a positive effect on
children s learning and is an enduring example of a scalable and effective early

The Inevitably of Evil
Man is the cruelest animal. These words spoken by Friedrich Nietzsche relate to
the moral of the book, Lord of the Flies by William Golding. In Lord of the Flies
Golding shows that evil resides in everyone and everywhere. The work of
humankind lies not in the futile idea of destroying evil, but in the struggle to keep it
from becoming a powerful force in our daily lives. William Golding illustrates that
within each person there is a struggle between right and wrong. At first, the boys

the death and destruction of Piggy, the voice of reason throughout the book, and
the conch that held the idea of order and respect among the boys. Ralph is struck

something. A while back in middle school, it was this palpable feeling of emptiness
which drove me to ponder the nature of this situation. How could there be no phrase

company started out from humble beginnings, the big corporation is not above

some of its own pet projects. Some of these controversies have stemmed from the
feminist counter culture circa 1965 or so; from this point on a lot of female
audiences (as well as the feminists) have argued that the media giant has been
constantly casting female characters as playing second fiddle to the main hero or
at the very least as a stock character for a bit of exaggerated humor. A lot of the
films made seem to unfortunately back the feminist arguments of discrimination
and even conditioning the audience in some cases within the films and even in
modern times dating back about twenty years or so back; Disney sometimes can t
really seem to get it right. One example in particular of a hard bitch slap in the face

Summary Of The Autumn By John Keats
Imagery brings poetry to life through the senses. It allows one to experience
imagination through the differing senses; it indirectly enables one to conceive the
mental picture and senses through this element. Imagery is a figurative language that
is for the use of visual symbolism. The author utilizes vivid and descriptive text to
imply a deeper meaning to the story being read. In John Keatspoem, The Autumn,
readers visualize the fall season through sensuous imagery to fulfill the purpose of an
illustration of autumn.
The senses of sight, known as visual imagery, is frequently illustrated in this poem.
The first line of the poem states, Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, close
bosom friend of the maturing sun; (Keats 771). The first line is filled with
alliteration mists, mellow, and maturing. It also describes how the fall consists of
foggy air, and it expresses how the sun is fully developed and is beginning to
diminish its brightness. During the fall, the sun is not compelled to shine as bright
as it does in the summer or spring. The weather is cooler with cloudy skies, along
with the leaves changing from bright green to warm colors. The leaves are falling
from the trees with the help of the chill breeze. From the trees, grow tasteful fruits
and eye catching blossoms which assists the fall in letting one see the beautiful,
graphic creation this season truly is. In essence, this poem allows one to experience
taste or the gustatory imagery of fruit.
This piece of literary work notifies readers the taste of fruit during this season in
several lines. In the first stanza, Keats details the trees and fruits of autumn through
the line, To bend with apples the mossed cottage trees, and fill all fruit with
ripeness to the core; (771). The succulent taste of fruit is being represented and one
is able to imagine and relish the taste of a ripe fruit down to its core. During this
time, the fruit is growing maturely for one to harvest and to enjoy throughout this
season and others to come. This line furthermore ties back with visual imagery by
expressing the stage the trees are in. It declares how they are filled with thick, green
moss on its trunks with apples hanging from their branches. Even from

REAL MADRID CASE STUDY
Summary
Real Madrid is one of the most storied sports franchises in the world. It is one of the
few sports teams with international appeal to a very broad fan base. This case delves
into how Real Madrid transitioned from a good soccer team with a winning history
into the global sports juggernaut we know today.
We first examined Real Madrids revenue streams and found that from their inception
through the 1970s their business model was based almost entirely on their ticket
sales. After the 1970s up until 2003 they had some media rights, a small
merchandising department, and some other negligible streams of income. It was in
2003 that team President Florintino Perez decided to make Real Madrid into a ...

Execution of each stage allowed Real Madrid to take in revenue through several
streams such as match day and international competition, marketing(merchandise sold
at the clubs web site and stores, sponsorships, fan cards, etc. ), broadcast and pay tv
revenue (Exhibit 1).
The club further evolved to identify 4 brand drivers that Perez stated would nurture
and project the Real Madrid brand worldwide. The first was the size of the audience,
secondly the frequency in which the audience engaged with the brand, thirdly, the
socio demographic characteristics of the audience and lastly, bridges that could be
built to link the brand and the audience. Each of these changes reflected the clubs
transition to a global brand with marketing capability.
Growth opportunities for Real Madrid existed in both new and existing markets.
With content seen as the product, opportunities to provide new content to current
markets were available through pay tv and new technologies like movies, video
games and use of the Real Madrid website. The website could also be used to for
additional merchandising as well. For new markets, winning on the field was
translated to good content and provided Real Madrid with an advantage over other
clubs in the battle to recruit new fans from international markets.

Essay on Western Movies Since 1960
A NOT SO ACCURATE prophet once wrote, quot;As recently as 1972, there were
a tremendous number of quality Westerns being made . . . and since there seems
to be a ten year cycle in Western movie making, I d say we ll see more in about
1982. quot; 1 In 1982 only two Westerns were released, and neither was exactly a
major success. Barbarosa, starring Willie Nelson, drew some respectable reviews
and some very damaging ones but nobody went to see the film. The Ballad of
Gregorio Cortez appeared first on PBS television, then later went into general release.
Today the Westernseems to be deader than the California Med fly. Critics and
aficionados of the form can only hear, as with Arnold s sea of faith, its long receding
roar.

? Obviously it couldn t. For all subsequent generations, then, the Western has to be
rediscovered, like some store of ancient literature one studies in school.
Reviewing the last twenty five years of the Western, 1960 1985, is salutary for both
aficionados and novices. The sixties began with a great film done in the sparest, most
austere classical manner, Budd Boetticher s Comanche Station (1960). The last of the
Renown cycle of seven films that Boetticher made with Randolph Scott, Comanche
Station reduces the elements of the journey Western to create one of its purest
expressions ever. Scott is an aging knight, a man quot;always alone in Comanche
country, quot; who, reminiscent of John Waynes searcher, hunts endlessly for his
wife, taken ten years previously by the Comanches. He buys a woman out of
captivity not his wife, of course, whom he will never find and escorts her back to
her husband. The journey pits him against a charming, evil adversary (Claude
Akins), and the trip becomes the occasion for a moral dialectic of the kind for
which the Western seems the perfect vehicle. In the end the villain adopts Scott s
code, dying honorably, and Scott delivers the wife to her husband. He turns out to
be a blind man, a fact that surprises and pleases because all through the film we
have worried, along with Scott, about what kind of man would leave such a woman
to another s care. It is a great film, and anybody wanting to know what the old time

Consent And The Potential Effects Of Affirmative Consent...
1. TITLE: Consent and What It Means to Utah College Students
2. OBJECTIVE
This research is to determine students understanding of what sexual consent is and
the possible effects of affirmative consent being implemented schools. The theory is
that individuals do not have a common understanding of what sexual consent is. The
hypothesis is that in college campuses, students have an unclear understanding of
sexual consent, affirmative consent would decrease misunderstandings of consent
and ultimately decrease sexual abuse. Requiring affirmative consent may decrease
the vagueness of nonverbal consent and encourage parties to make it explicitly clear
that they are interested in sexual activity. This study will compare the results of a
survey between universities and colleges in Utah for a comprehensive view on
attitudes towards affirmative consent. More than half of sexual abuse and rape
victimizations are the result of behavior other than force, such as coercion, which
puts additional emphasis on the possible relationship between affirmative consent
and victimization. Data gathering will be done through electronic surveys distributed
at colleges and universities in Utah and contain quantitative, closed ended questions
only.
3. RESEARCH QUESTIONS
Several schools have started enacting affirmative consent requirements, which
requires sexual partners to get explicit consent before participating in sexual activity.
These questions are important to answer as to the possible

music alike ( Windfield 240). A lot of musicians were involved, from Louis
Armstrong to Duke Ellington. The Jazz movement affected United States history
and the future music industry in a variety of ways. Initially, the first jazz is said to
have been played by funeral bands that wailed music full of soul and sadness as the
followed horse drawn hearses down the streets of New Orleans. It was blues music
though (Winfield 157). Many historians mark the start of the JazzAge on November
12, 1917 the day the Department of the Navy closed a thirty eight square block
neighborhood known as storyville in the city of New Orleans. Fearing the health of
its sailors, the navy shut the doors of Storyville s brothels and nightclubs, forcing...

Little Louis sung in a vocal quartet in his early teens. His rise to the top, though not
overnight, occurred quickly, he played with mostly all the major bands in New
Orleans over the next few years (Friedwald 350). In 1922, his mentor, King Oliver,
invited him to work his Creole Jazz Band in Chicago. After recording with Oliver
for over a year, Armstrong moved into what would become the most important early
jazz big band, Fletcher Henderson s Orchestra (Shipton 201). As if it were not
enough that Armstrong would rewire instrumental music for the rest of the century,
his singing did the same for vocal music. He sang much as he played, but with a
playfulness and a rasp, that would forever be part of American culture (Winfield
167). The first important trend in New York Jazz was Hot Jazz that was an
incendiary style introduced by Louis Armstrong (Winfield 170). He was known for
both his joyous ways with the trumpet and his peculiarly touching and funny vocal
style. There was a cheerful impatience in his playing, an optimistic confidence that
led him to risk going over the top (Shipton 157). Louis Armstrong is arguably the
most important musician that the United States has ever produced (Shipton 160).
Eldridge is the obvious link between Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie.
Armstrong could make an audience cheer, but Roy Eldridge, made those top and
bottom notes feel like a natural part of what the horn should do (Friedwald 21).

Interventions and Policies for Airline Accident Prevention
The past practice of investigating all accidents and incidents (safety occurrences) is
being replaced with a more systematic and selective process. As aircraft technology
and systems development becomes more advanced, air travel perceived as safer and
as such, the role of investigating agencies has evolved. A number of air safety
investigation agencies have policies to help determine their level of response to
occurrences by considering a range of factors such as the severity of the event, the
category of aircraft involved, class of operation and public interest. In the majority of
occurrences little investigative effort is subsequently undertaken. Despite this, the
recurring nature of many accidents results in recommendations, interventions and
policies which are conducive to accidentprevention. Although these can be improved
to facilitate greater measurable outcomes and achievable improvements to aviation
safety. When discussing aviation investigation policies, ICAO Annex 13 of the
Chicago Convention states The sole objective of the investigation of an accident or
incident shall be the prevention of accidents and incidents. It is not the purpose of
this activity to apportion blame or liability (ICAO, 2001). The overarching documents
or guidelines for accident investigation are deliberately non prescriptive designed to
allow ICAO member states to implement legislation and classification systems they
see fit for their industry.

Fashion And Fashion Essay
Today, being politically correct is the norm. Whether its talking about hair or where
we re from our gender to party costumes to triggers in general the PC culture has
found its way into every aspect of our lives.
So when we toss high fashion into the PC arena, we shouldn t be opposed or even
surprised to acknowledge how it too, is influenced by the current political climate.
High fashion has been traditionally and notoriously dominated by white men in
brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior,
Burberry...the list goes on. At the same time, the high fashion scene is always looking
to showcase and reinvent what is cool and what is scarce . These days, the new
stylish and innovative has become the unrefined, the different, the international, and
the...street fashion.
As society grows tolerant and aware of its diversity and cultures, especially away
from only the cultural preferences of the white demographic, the initial tolerance
becomes an interest, and the interest surges to a desire to represent that same
diversity inherent to someone else.
This hipster urge is not news, but in our political climate today, the desire to be other
has manifested itself into a trend of appearing as off white, or, not an average white
person. In fashion, one the most widespread trends is popularizing and incorporating
streetwear into high fashion items.
Streetwear is most recognizably associated with hip hop and skate culture.
In hip hop culture, streetwear staples such as tracksuits and

Personal Observation On High School
Personal Observation of Problems on Brighton High School s Campus I am
currently a Brighton High School Senior. Over the four years I have been at this
school there have been things that I have longed to improve or change at my school.
Some are just dreams that could never come into effect like, putting in stop lights and
painted lines in the hallway similar to the road. Most of the time though they are
realistic ideas that could drastically help impact the school campus. In my school
campus I feel that the students are never aloud any time to enjoy their high school
career, the school is never fully clean, and that all teachers do not strive to teach
students to the best of their ability. Although, these are some things I would love to
see change I am not the only one with these views. At Brighton High School the
only importance is the end of the year test. Even though end of the year tests is
very important there are other things that should hold some importance at the
school. Also the school should give some rewards for all the hard work the
students do, along with encouraging the students to try even harder. Sara said, I
have always longed for the administration of Brighton High School to support the
students and the cardinal spirit (Smith). This is just one person s opinion and there
are many others that agree with her statement, for if administration cared deeply
about the students the students would care deeply about their work. Olivia agrees
with Sara and she says, I wish administration would give an incentive for students
to try. I personally care about my grades, but many do not and if administration
would have an incentive, for example, pep rallies every once in a while, then I feel
many more students will care about their grades (Brunner). With these two students
view it is clear that the students of Brighton High School feel that there should be
more events held on campus. At Brighton High School the school is never fully
clean, it may look clean but that is surly a deception. On campus the custodians
always seem to be working, but the job never seems done. I don t know if it is the
students, custodians, or the school as a whole is at fought, but either way it is always
nasty. Lydia
The Male Superiority Of The Age
Paternal superiority has always been an important factor in society. Paternal
superiority is when the male is the dominant character and feels like he has the
upper hand compared to anyone, especially females. Males often feel like they are
the dominant sex because they are assumed to be stronger than females. Since the
formation of organized society, males have been in charge. Males also do not have
the same standard way of acting in society. In history, men have always had more
freedom than women have. This has made women seem like they are not as important
as the males. This is how society has been brought up; the males have continually
been in control. Although the modern reader can infer that Bronte was exaggerating
maleauthority, she is actually reflecting the time period of the Victorian Era.
Bronte uses several characters to exemplify the male superiority of the age. One
character that portrays the dominance in that time is Edgar. At first glance, anyone
would think that Edgar is a well dressed rich boy who is pampered and does not
have to worry about a single thing. Reading further into the book, one may notice
that he assumes a more dominant attitude towards a few people especially
Catherine. He has the audacity to say that she cannot be friends with Heathcliff as
well as Edgar, so she has to choose who she wants to stay with. Edgar is acting
jealously and does not want to share Catherine with Heathcliff; he is afraid that
Heathcliff will in some way steal
Heaven In C. S. Lewis The Great Divorce
You see, it s easy in Hell. You ve only got to think of something, and there it is!
When I read this excerpt from the The Great Divorce, a classic and philosophical
book that that takes its readers on a fantastic journey through the Afterlife, by C.S.
Lewis, I thought for sure that my author was mistaken. It only took me a matter of
pages to realize that I, myself, did not understand. Lewis shows his readers that the
difference between Heavenand Hellisn t idolized riches, but attitude and belief.
However, I believe that a life in Hell is one that consists of loneliness and
unhappiness rather than living with selfish, unnecessary wealth. I also believe that
having a relationship with God allows people to live a more selfless life because
Christianityallows us to live for something bigger than just ourselves.
The Afterlife is a topic that has been debated throughout history. In The Great
Divorce, Heaven is shown as a place of selfless bliss and strong love for God and
Hell as a place of selfish desires and love restricted only to ourselves and belongings.
C.S. Lewis tells a story of a man who boards a bus on a drizzly English afternoon and
embarks on a voyage through Heaven and Hell, on ... Show more content on

Lewis shows his readers that the main character still learns a great deal about
selfishness and selflessness, and the nature of good and evil. On the narrator s
journey, he witnesses thought provoking conversations between the saved and the
damned, after one of which he stated I do not know if I have ever seen anything
more terrible than the struggle of that Ghost against joy. At this point, the main
character was starting to dawn upon the realization that we need God, and that we
cannot save ourselves. I believe that Lewis chose not to identify the narrator so that
the focus of this book will not be on the characters, but the message that a
relationship with the Lord leads to a more selfless
The Sad Nature of the Conflict between Israel and...
Before hearing this lecture, I d never heard of the Palestinian refugee camps in the
Middle East or thought much about the Palestinian people. This lecture helped me
understand the truly sad nature of the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
You began the lecture by showing a video about the Aida refugee camp, which is one
of many camps the in which the Israelis placed the Palestinians once Israel became a
country after WWII. Then you spoke of your experiences living and working there.
Telling stories of Israelis shooting children, throwing tear gas at silent protestors, and
being cruel at checkpoints, you talked about the people who live in that camp. You
discussed how the Israelis wish to eliminate the Palestinians and how they ... Show

should support this. It seems obvious that, though Israel may have once been God s
chosen people, Jesus has come, making what was once holy war unnecessary.
As I listened to the lecture, the Aida refugee camp kept reminding me of the Native
American reservations in the U.S. Just like the Palestinians, Native Americans were
suppressed because they were in the way; they were hidden to be forgotten. Unlike
how the Israelites shoot at the Palestinians, however, we don t generally shoot at
people on reservations anymore. Yet, America in general wants to forget about
these people. Seeing the cute children from the Aida camp and hearing your stories
about their excitement for the activities reminded me of the children from the
Winnebago, Nebraska reservation where I know many kids. People from my
church go twice a year to continue relationships and do VBS with kids there. We
ve brought a few back to Michigan over the years to participate in a trip with our
own middle schoolers. I ve loved being a part of that ministry. The Aida center
seems very similar. I find it sad that the kids in the Aida camp must live in the
constant fear of not having enough water and of even being killed. At least for
Native Americans they mostly just live in fear of their own families and the general
hopelessness that the res brings. Though reservations have more freedom and
amenities than the refugee camp, living on them isn t easy either. In a lot
Civil War Clothing Changes
Do you think clothing styles have changed over time? Well, clothes have changed
from then to now. There was an apparel called ready made before the American Civil
War. When the clothing was out, the material was very limited back then. The
clothing style has changed by having enough material, being made and worn different
from today, and can make your own clothingand accessories.
To get things started before the American civil war there was clothing material but
it was very limited to others. Later on clothing began to evolve over time. Back then
certain people only had a limited variety of clothing to wear. The author states, coats,
jackets , and undergarments were only available in predetermined sizes . (source 1,

Free Market Capitalism in The United States
INTRODUCTION The US has been leading the world economy with its model of
free market capitalism for last three decades. We have been told that, if left alone,
markets will produce the most efficient and effective outcome. Because individuals
know what the best way is and they are the ones who will be rewarded according to
their productivity. Therefore, maximized freedom and minimized state
intervention have been regarded as the most beautiful contribution to economic
development. However, not all neo liberal countries have achieved the expected
outcome, in fact, most of them resulted in big failures. The growth rates of Latin
America and Africa, which had been higher than other developing nations,
dropped by over 60 percent after they embraced IMF sponsored neo liberalism in
the 1980 s . Especially in Latin America, neo liberal policies were applied in the
time. The result was that Latin America s per capita GDP fell by an average 0.5
percent a year for 10 years. Meanwhile, the growth rate of countries that state deeply
intervenes its economy such as Northern Europe countries, China, Brazil and
Singapore have enormously increased. Especially China s historic success along
with the strong recent economic performance of Russia and several Persian Gulf
states has renewed interest in the hybrid economic model. Those phenomena can t
be explained by free market capitalism ideology. RESEARCH QUESTION: Is the
neo liberal economy model the best for the national economy as a

Yucatan Peninsula Maya
Maya The Yucatan Peninsula is the exposed portion of the larger Yucatan Peninsula,
all of which is composed of carbonate and soluble rocks, being mostly limestone
although dolomite and evaporites are also present at various depths. The whole of the
YucatГЎn Peninsula is an unconfined flat lying karst landscape. Sinkholes, known
locally as cenotes, are widespread in the northern lowlands. The Yucatan peninsula
usually experienced tropical weather. The Mayans grew corn, farmers also
cultivated beans, squash, and fruit trees. Black beans and red beans contributed
protein to the Maya diet. Numerous varieties of squash and pumpkin were grown.
Droughts were one of the biggest threats to Mayan farms. The Mayans found a way
to store water in case of droughts. The Mayans used a farming technique called slash
and burn. Slash and burn meant that you would burn down forests and the land that
was leftover would be your farm. The leftover ash from slash and burn is very good
for plants. People still use slash and burn today, but performing this technique can
cause global warming. Inca... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When I first proposed this study I wanted to know why are there a greater number

a path breaking question but since I did not want to dwell into a path breaking
aspect in my first internship in this sphere I thought I would be a good idea to

internship as a platform for my future projects that will be will women and

their graduation while being a part of this project. Almost all girls that I have
interacted during the course of this study were a part of the EDP.
Methodology
I initially wished to conduct the study on the basis of informal interactions of
interviews. Prior experience had taught me that it is rare that participants of the study
are extremely comfortable answering a lengthy questionnaire. Therefore I wanted to
do away with the questionnaire. But senior employees of Akshara made me realise
that it might not be such a bad idea to get a basic understanding of the issue through a
questionnaire. Therefore I kept the questionnaire as the last thing as part of the
methodology. I had undertaken informal interactions then had gone into full fledged
interviews and then administered a questionnaire.
It was however, the informal interactions that taught me the most. I was glad that I
could meet both sections. There are several girls that I interacted with but many of
them have not filled out the questionnaire. Of the 30 40 girls that I did meet only 22
of them have filled out a questionnaire. Of these 6 of them are from female headed
households. Almost 95% of the gilrs in teracted
Occupational Justice Theory Paper
Occupational justice theory. According to Causey Upton (2015), participating in
leisure activities has an enormous impact on the health and well being of the aging
population. Occupational justice is a principle that compliments and extends social
justice ideologies (Causey Upton, 2015, p. 177). Occupational justice helps support
the needs of people and communities so that they may participate in occupations of
both necessity and choice as part of a moral and empowering society (Causey Upton,
2015, p. 177). Causey Upton (2015) goes on to say that residents who live in nursing
homes experience multiple forms of occupational injustice (p. 177). Some examples
of occupational injustice are occupational imbalance, occupational deprivation, and
occupational marginalization (table 2) (Causey Upton, 2015). Causey Upton (2015)
also says that leisure activities offered in nursing homes may not include residents
who are not provided with accommodations needed to meet their cognitive or

Thriving theory is defined as the ongoing process of growing through continuous
human environment interactions resulting in social, physical, and psychological
resilience and growth (Haight, Barba, Tesh, Courts, 2002, p. 18). A study done to
chronicle the importance of everyday activity engagement for those residing in a
nursing home and how it is related to thriving showed a positive association identified
between the two. The most substantial influence in the nursing home resident thriving
was the engagement in activities, dressing nicely, and spending time with someone
who they enjoyed being around (Björk et al., 2017). Björk et al., (2017) states that
participating in meaningful activities and having a positive relationship with others
suggests that the research results are consistent with thriving theory and residents in
nursing homes are shown to have a better quality of life by participating in engaging

Undisputedly, construction process is one of the most complex human endeavours
in history, with huge amount of details that involve large number of people
working at the same time on a single deliverable object, be it buildings, bridges,

Every single person with a role on a construction project needs information about
what to do, how to do it, where to do it and when to do it and lots more information
required to carry out a single task successfully.
The required information had to be created in a certain form and communicated to
those that need the information in the best explicit way. Imagine how many tasks will

Essay Value Of Education.pdf

  • 1. Essay Value Of Education Crafting an essay on the value of education can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies not in the scarcity of information, but rather in the vastness of the topic. Education is a multifaceted subject, encompassing historical perspectives, sociological implications, economic considerations, and personal experiences. Balancing these aspects while maintaining coherence and relevance requires careful research and thoughtful organization. The challenge intensifies as one navigates the intricate web of statistics, studies, and philosophical discourses that surround the value of education. Deciphering the significance of education from diverse viewpoints demands a nuanced understanding of its implications on individual lives, societal progress, and global development. It requires delving into the complexities of educational systems, addressing issues like accessibility, equality, and the evolving nature of knowledge in the modern era. Furthermore, expressing the value of education in a way that resonates with a diverse audience adds another layer of difficulty. The writer must engage readers emotionally, intellectually, and ethically, conveying not only the practical benefits of education but also its intrinsic value in shaping individuals into informed, empathetic, and responsible members of society. In the end, while composing an essay on the value of education may pose challenges, it is an endeavor worth pursuing. The process invites writers to reflect on their own educational journeys, grapple with the broader implications of education in various contexts, and articulate a persuasive argument that inspires readers to appreciate the transformative power of learning. For those seeking assistance in crafting essays on similar thought-provoking topics, there are resources available. • 2. Cyber Security, By Mark Rasch The ISSA conference was very enlightening and interesting. Mark Rasch introduced cyber security to us from a very different perspective that I haven t had anyone explore before. To some extent it clears and clarifies some of the decisions that have been taken resulting in the many different cases that I have read in the news regarding cyber security. The closest example that comes to mind is the Snowden case in regards to privacy and security laws. In addition to that, I concur with Mark regarding the laws that are stated that in terms of privacy are not as transparent and certain loopholes change the way these laws can have effect upon an individual, organization or an employee. As per what I understood from his initial remarks about lawmaking from his early work experience. The scenarios that Mark jumped into, being that conference a room of senior officials who have all the authority and power that they need to take certain kinds of decisions that will change things beyond our borders. It was an on the spot exercise that actually made me think harder and allowed me to grasp better the basic knowledge and understanding of cyber security that I have gained throughout this semester. I have been recommended to read Sun Tzu s Art of War as it not only covers strategic aspects of only war but the main analogy of it could be applied to an individual s way of living and how he/she deals with the things that are encountered in one s daily life. Keeping that in mind, his

Arts Principles Chapter 2: Principles for Effective, High Quality Out of School Time Arts Programs Chapter 2 is centered on ways to implement effective improvements to OST art programs using stated and latent needs gathered from the participating teens and tweens. Researchers compiled ten principles that ought to be followed/implemented in order to engage more low income urban youth. The ten principles are: Principle 1: Instructors are professional, practicing artists, and are valued with compensation for their expertise and investment in their professional development Principle 2: Executive directors have a public commitment to high quality arts programs that is supported by sustained action Principle 3: Arts programs take place in dedicated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Closing Remarks In the closing of the article, researchers were able to conclude that the reason we are seeing an underutilization of OST arts programs amongst low income urban youth is because of poor past experiences that have soiled their desire to participate. Ultimately, what the youth that participated in the team s focus groups said they wanted aligned with the KOL and case study informed principles. Basically, the lesser engaged youth desired the principles utilized in higher quality arts programs by the highly engaged youth. Researchers go on to suggest that this is the aspect that could lead the lesser engaged youth to the next level. To fix the damage that has been done, the team suggests that improving the quality of art programs overall will start to affect an increasing number of youth. According to this line of thinking, word of mouth will eventually spread, which would greatly increase. How It Applies Although the work that we do may not clearly align with the topic addressed by this article, there are elements that parallel a couple issues with resident turn out and an overall lack of full utilization when it comes to the resources offered by the CHA. The following are a few of my suggestions and thoughts, but keep in mind that I am not completely
  • 4. Sociology Norms Introduction Each individual has a role to play in his or her life based on the time, place, and society that he or she lives on. Thus, understanding the role that every individual should play is the way to success on their life. For example, [1] noted that students short and long term value orientation, career success in the future, and academic performance will be negatively affected if students cannot figure out the norms and values of collage. Subsequently, rules, goals, norms, and contents for educationmust be initially communicated with those who start their academic study [1]. Furthermore, the person s performance of a given role is guided by norms and values, which are based on the persons analysis of other people who play the same role. However, there is a potential of misunderstanding of the behaviors, attitude, and skills required to accomplish a new role. This misunderstanding may happen for several reasons. Misinterpretation of norms and rules for a given role, for example, is one major reason. The goal of this paper is to test whether the understanding of norms and rules of a given role will help individuals to be success in the role that they would play or not. This paper focuses in a specific area, which is American higher education. I start by interviewing three students who play a role as a collage studentto ask them several questions pertaining to anticipatory socialization into students role, all of which I used to finish this paper. After
  • 5. Cosmology and Southern Gothic The question, How did we get here, deals with cosmology, the study of the universe. No one knows for sure how the universe works or how we got here, but many Southern Gothic authors, such as Flannery O Connor and Edgar Allan Poe, use their literature as a way of expressing their beliefs about the clockwork of the universe. These authors use their dark and grotesque fictional stories to make sense of where we, as humans, stand in the universe. In The Violent Bear it Away, O Connor uses Francis Tarwater, a miracle who was saved by God, to answer the question, How did we get here? Francis Tarwater goes through his life stuck in between two completely opposite universes and is forced to choose which one he wants to be a part of. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He eventually steps into the world of his great uncle Tarwarter and realizes that his destiny forced him on a final revelation. (O Connor 233). O Connor shows through young Tarwater s decision on the path of life he chose to take, to show God and the universe impact people s lives in mysterious ways. Flannery O Connor displays the theme of cosmology and explores the big picture of the universe in many other of her Southern Gothic stories such as, The Lame Shall Enter First. The Lame Shall Enter First is even more disquieting than most of O Connor s works, and her protagonist s maneuverings for redemption are thoroughly skewed (Gentry 37). This short story is about a widower, Sheppard, whose main purpose in life is to raise his only son, Norton. But he abandons his son while trying to cope with the grief of his wife s death. During this process, Sheppard turns his back on his hurting son, who is also trying to deal with the death, and decides to do charitable deeds for others. Sheppard tells his son, If you stop thinking about yourself and think what you can do for somebody else then you ll stop missing your mother (O Connor____). Sheppard s primary deed was taking in a troubled boy, from the local reformatory he volunteers at named Rufus. Sheppard s dealings with Rufus are actually part of an unconscious strategy for returning to an ideal. The ideal to which Sheppard wishes to return, however, is his dead wife, and Rufus is to be her replacement
  • 6. Assessment Of Perineal Pain On Women Experience During The... Assessment of Perineal Pain Adequate and effective management of perineal pain begins with a comprehensive assessment (Marcus et al, 2009; Breivikl et al, 2008; Dalton et al, 1999). However, Andrews et al, (2008) UK based study concluded that there is no pain scale to date that has been developed to appropriately and accurately assess the perineal pain that women experience during the postnatal period. This begins to offer explanation as why up to 92% of new mothers endure perineal pain in the early postpartum period (Macarthur and Macarthur, 2004).To further support these findings Way (2012) discovered that women expect perineal pain following vaginal birth but under estimate the severity of the pain. Women will experience high levels of pain before requesting analgesia as they attempt to normalise the pain as a consequence of vaginal delivery (Swain and Dahlen, 2013). Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) conclude that the current management of perineal pain is inadequate as the use of analgesia is not standardised. Both Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) and Andrews et al, (2008) used a prospective cohort research design to obtain their data. The sample population that was needed to ensure that the results produced were statistically significant was, therefore, larger (Rees, 2011). Macarthur and Macarthur (2004) used a sample size of four hundred and forty seven women from Toronto, Canada, and Andrews et al, (2008) included two hundred and forty one women from London, England. • 7. The Legal Principles Of The Case Of Salomon V. Salmon And... The legal principle on company law established by the case Salomon v Salomon Co Ltd is that a company upon incorporation is a body corporate which is recognized by law to have a separate legal entity from its members and officers. The company and members are two separate bodies. This is known as the veil of incorporation. Thus, the debts of the company cannot be recovered from its members. For example, the debts of the company cannot be recovered from its member. Rather than the director or its member, a company is normally liable for any breach by itself. A company is an artificial legal personthat exists independently of the individuals who at any given time are the members of the corporate body. In the case of Salomon V Salomon Co Ltd, even though Salomon managed the business solely by himself, yet in law Salomon and the company is separate body as the company has incorporated. As a legal entity by itself, company can: 1.Enjoy perpetual existence and has its own legal personality. 2.Has its own legal personality. 3.Is separate from its members and officers and the change of its members and officers does not affect its legal personality. 4.Sue and be sued in its own name. 5.Deal with property itself. 6.Liable for its debts, ... • 8. Voice Over Internet Protocol Term Paper Introduction Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a technology that offers voice communications using the existing Internet protocols. Over the years the Internet has developed as a very cheap medium that has been used to send electronic mails and files across the globe. VoIP extends this concept and provides the facility to send voice data between people using the IP framework. Since the Internet is a cheap medium, enabling voice services through it will effectively cut costs that are normally encountered in making calls through normal telephone lines. This would mean that people across the world can talk to each other at a fraction of the cost that they could be spending when they use normal telephone lines. This is exactly what makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How VoIP functions At the basic level, VoIP functions much like the common Internet services that are available today. Voice data is received at one end of the IP network and is compressed, digitized, and broken down into data packets with unique serial numbers. A universal lookup table or an IP reference table helps the server at the call originating end to find out the IP of the receiver to whom the call is placed. Once the IP is resolved, data is sent to the destination IP much in the same fashion that emails and web data is transferred across the network. The data packets that are received at the destination end is collected, arranged according to sequence numbers, and converted back to analog signals so that the receiver can hear the voice. VoIP is possible between two computers, between two telephones that are connected to a network or even between a computer and a telephone. This means that a person with a PC can originate a call to a landline or vice versa [Jain, 2004] The advantages of VoIP В• Voice and Data Integration VoIP is a definite step towards integration of voice and data; a need that has been increasingly researched since the last few decades. Integration of voice and data would mean that data transfer can be controlled effectively thereby making data manipulation faster and more secure. VoIP will use a host of technologies like voice encryption in future to ensure that data transfer across voice sensitive servers happen
  • 9. Nostalgia In The Medical World V.The word, nostalgia, has experienced an extensive history of dynamic meanings and acceptance in the medical world. A.The term originated in 1688 after Johannes Hofer merged the Greek words nostos and algos to describe the pain resulting from the desire to return to one s home (Natali, 2004, p. 10). i.The word, nostalgia, increased in popularly, eventually being used outside of Europe. ii. At this point of the word s history, it was used within the medical world to describe a disease provoked by excessive attachment to a distant homeland, a condition at first thought to be common particularly among natives of mountainous regions. By the end of the eighteenth century, the notion was expanded to include pathological attachment to any faraway ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the latter part of the 1800s, nostalgia was no longer a part of the medical world, misinterpreted and transformed into a word used to describe inefficient politics and history from late nineteenth century and twentieth century. A.It was now seen as a symptom of the real unease caused by an unjust society, a condition that would disappear as soon as the underlying cause of the dissatisfaction was done away with (Natali, 2004, p. 18). B.Nostalgia thus became a label used to define those who fell outside of the modern framework (Natali, 2004, p.11). C.It became a form of melancholy by being a term employed to charge attachment to and affect for the past with being both politically reprehensive and empirically untenable and a longing for an earlier, simpler time (Natali, 2004, p. 11). i.Nostalgia negatively affects not only history, as it is a progress toward an improved state, (Natali, 2004, p. 11) but also politics, as Karl Marx claims it hinders the moving towards greater individual freedom and scientific development but, more significantly, towards a more just society (Natali, 2004, p. 11). ii. Attachment to the past becomes a hindrance precisely because of the belief that the past is irreparably lost, making nostalgia a desire without the possibility of fulfillment (Natali, 2004, p.
  • 10. Pros And Cons Of Plastic Water Bottles United States is the leading country on a global scale that produces and consumes millions of gallons of water annually. Oil, a limited and expensive resource, is used in the process of creating polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic water bottles which is generally regarded as a safe and recyclable packaging material. (Palliser, 2010) The process of manufacturing bottled waterto meet the United Statesdemand uses more than 17 million barrels of oil annually. (Ban the Bottle, 2014) The following examples will help to visualize how much of valuable, natural resources are used: in a year, the energy used to produce bottled water is enough to power 190,000 homes and the millions of barrels of oil used is enough to fuel 1.3 million cars. Another chemical found in PET plastic bottles is antimony that is harmless in small doses but in larger doses can cause nausea, vomiting, and death. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates bottled water and only require tests on a weekly basis and does not share their discoveries with neither the public nor EPA. (Ban the Bottle,

Pencey Prep is Holden s fourth school he has been to. Previously, he has been kicked out of other institutions because he failed to apply himself. During his time at Pencey Prep, Holden had made some poor relationships with his classmates and teachers. In the end, Holden s suspension from Pencey Prep caused his perception on people to shift as well as his development of loneliness. He reasons that ...when I m with somebody corny, I always act corny too (79). This is the beginning of Holden s change because he s learning to adapt to the ways of others; he starts to speculate that his actions are comparable to the people he meets. Upon arriving at his hotel room, Holden looks across to the windows of an opposite room. He describes what he sees: I saw a man and a woman squirting water out of their mouths at each other... The trouble was, that kind of junk was sort of fascinating to watch, even if you don t want it to be (80 81). Holden observes a crumby action from people but soon realizes that if he were given the opportunity, he would have probably done it too. He starts to acknowledge that he wasn t so different from other people. When Holden enters a bar and attempts to order alcohol, he is denied by the waiter. At the age of three his mother moved to Oklahoma and left Boobie with his grandmother. He lived for a short time with his father, but allegations of physical abuse resulted in a lifetime of being bounced from foster home to foster home. Before Boobie started high school, his uncle, L.V. Miles, adopted him giving him a stable home and a positive role model. Influenced by his uncle, Boobie began to excel at sports, especially football. Football provided another home where Boobie got the kind of attention and admiration that led to opportunities someone from his background didn t typically get a full ride scholarship to college. He also gained a lot of attention for his attitude that was that nobody was as talented as he was. In the book Boobie is constantly quoted in the book as saying, Put Boobie in if you wanna win (Bissinger, Buzz). Next we are introduced to small offensive lineman

(p.4) The house was a sepulcher, our fear and suffering lay buried in the ruins. The house would then become an isolated tomb that will never be inhabited by anyone again. This hinted a much more significant meaning under its surface beauty, which contributes to the setting of a Gothic novel. In addition, the library in Manderly is like a church (p.76) a room for peace, a room for meditation , with an ancient mossy smell, scrolled ceiling, dark panelling and heavy curtains, also giving a sense of sacredness. (p.100) I must have lost my bearings What s more, Manderly is similar to a castle or a maze, with many rooms and corridors, that the heroine couldn t make her way on the first day of her arrival to Manderly. By this, the above images made Manderly an appropriate setting for a Gothic novel in spite of its surface beauty.

There is extensive theory surrounding the contested understanding of the ways personal identity and (national) social identities are mutually informed. It can be argued that nationalism plays a role in shaping the personhood, as personal identity draws on the cultural aspects of national identity and integrates these ideas into individual self understanding (Hearn 2007). These are supposedly contrasted with negatively valued identities. To Billig, identities are not simply organized through processes, but instead ways of habit entrenched into the surrounding environment, both material and social (Billig 1995). Study of a STATCOM Application for Voltage Stability Evaluated S.Rajasekqar, Assoc Professor HOD, NIST, Nagole, Hyderabad Abstract: In this paper voltage stability is evaluated b v both dynamic P V curves and time domain simulations, considering the combined dynamic control effects of a static compensator (SZ4TCOh!) and transformer on load taps (OLT). The studied system is heavily loaded at hvo locations and an 80 Mvar STA TCOM is connected to improve the voltage stability of entire s~stem for a contingency of a three terminal line outage. The resu[ts presented in this paper: (a) show that a STA TCOM can greatly improve the voltage stability of a heavily loaded system, (b) quantl~ the combined impacts of SZ4TCOM and OLT control: (c) illustrate that the margin of stability can be easily and effectively evaluated by P V curves; (d) correlate tirnedomain simulations and P V curves for a system with a STATCOM and OLT dynamic control. These implementations set by Lycurgus do not give any benefit to the democratic changes occurring in society at the time. Solon and his reforms are excellent examples of how Athens developed the road to democracy, and how the benefits of these reforms make Solon superior to Lycurgus as a ruler. Solon, a man of middle ground, was urged forward by the people to rule over them and to settle differences between the rich and the poor. Solon, on the other hand, could not go to such extremes in his constitution, since he was a man of modest fortune and had been chosen by the people. Yet he made full use of his power, relying on the good will of the citizens and their confidence in him, (Plutarch, 22.16). Since the people chose Solon to rule, he stood a middle ground, and made decisions based on what was best for the people, a true example of democracy in Athens. Solon also benefited the citizens of Athens through is reforms relating to trade. Solon implemented a law that required every man to have a trade. He sought to dignify all trades and ordered the Council of Areopagus to inquire how every man made a living and to punish those who had no occupation, (Plutarch, 22.22).

It allows one to experience imagination through the differing senses; it indirectly enables one to conceive the mental picture and senses through this element. Imagery is a figurative language that is for the use of visual symbolism. The author utilizes vivid and descriptive text to imply a deeper meaning to the story being read. In John Keatspoem, The Autumn, readers visualize the fall season through sensuous imagery to fulfill the purpose of an illustration of autumn. The senses of sight, known as visual imagery, is frequently illustrated in this poem. The first line of the poem states, Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, close bosom friend of the maturing sun; (Keats 771). The first line is filled with alliteration mists, mellow, and maturing. It also describes how the fall consists of foggy air, and it expresses how the sun is fully developed and is beginning to diminish its brightness. During the fall, the sun is not compelled to shine as bright as it does in the summer or spring. The weather is cooler with cloudy skies, along with the leaves changing from bright green to warm colors. The leaves are falling from the trees with the help of the chill breeze. From the trees, grow tasteful fruits and eye catching blossoms which assists the fall in letting one see the beautiful, graphic creation this season truly is. In essence, this poem allows one to experience taste or the gustatory imagery of fruit. This piece of literary work notifies readers the taste of fruit during this season in several lines. In the first stanza, Keats details the trees and fruits of autumn through the line, To bend with apples the mossed cottage trees, and fill all fruit with ripeness to the core; (771). The succulent taste of fruit is being represented and one is able to imagine and relish the taste of a ripe fruit down to its core. During this time, the fruit is growing maturely for one to harvest and to enjoy throughout this season and others to come. This line furthermore ties back with visual imagery by expressing the stage the trees are in. It declares how they are filled with thick, green moss on its trunks with apples hanging from their branches. Even from

Only my watch told me that it was getting late, as the sky was too dark and brooding to see the sun. I was going to have to spend another night out in the wilderness. • 37. Real Madrid Essay REAL MADRID CASE STUDY Summary Real Madrid is one of the most storied sports franchises in the world. It is one of the few sports teams with international appeal to a very broad fan base. This case delves into how Real Madrid transitioned from a good soccer team with a winning history into the global sports juggernaut we know today. We first examined Real Madrids revenue streams and found that from their inception through the 1970s their business model was based almost entirely on their ticket sales. After the 1970s up until 2003 they had some media rights, a small merchandising department, and some other negligible streams of income. It was in 2003 that team President Florintino Perez decided to make Real Madrid into a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Execution of each stage allowed Real Madrid to take in revenue through several streams such as match day and international competition, marketing(merchandise sold at the clubs web site and stores, sponsorships, fan cards, etc. ), broadcast and pay tv revenue (Exhibit 1). The club further evolved to identify 4 brand drivers that Perez stated would nurture and project the Real Madrid brand worldwide. The first was the size of the audience, secondly the frequency in which the audience engaged with the brand, thirdly, the socio demographic characteristics of the audience and lastly, bridges that could be built to link the brand and the audience. Each of these changes reflected the clubs transition to a global brand with marketing capability. Growth opportunities for Real Madrid existed in both new and existing markets. With content seen as the product, opportunities to provide new content to current markets were available through pay tv and new technologies like movies, video games and use of the Real Madrid website. The website could also be used to for additional merchandising as well. For new markets, winning on the field was translated to good content and provided Real Madrid with an advantage over other clubs in the battle to recruit new fans from international markets. The greatest risk to Real Madrid s revenue streams was the prospect of losing on the field. Ideally, the

For all subsequent generations, then, the Western has to be rediscovered, like some store of ancient literature one studies in school. Reviewing the last twenty five years of the Western, 1960 1985, is salutary for both aficionados and novices. The sixties began with a great film done in the sparest, most austere classical manner, Budd Boetticher s Comanche Station (1960). The last of the Renown cycle of seven films that Boetticher made with Randolph Scott, Comanche Station reduces the elements of the journey Western to create one of its purest expressions ever. Scott is an aging knight, a man quot;always alone in Comanche country, quot; who, reminiscent of John Waynes searcher, hunts endlessly for his wife, taken ten years previously by the Comanches. He buys a woman out of captivity not his wife, of course, whom he will never find and escorts her back to her husband. The journey pits him against a charming, evil adversary (Claude Akins), and the trip becomes the occasion for a moral dialectic of the kind for which the Western seems the perfect vehicle. In the end the villain adopts Scott s code, dying honorably, and Scott delivers the wife to her husband. He turns out to be a blind man, a fact that surprises and pleases because all through the film we have worried, along with Scott, about what kind of man would leave such a woman to another s care. It is a great film, and anybody wanting to know what the old time Western was
  • 39. Consent And The Potential Effects Of Affirmative Consent... 1. TITLE: Consent and What It Means to Utah College Students 2. OBJECTIVE This research is to determine students understanding of what sexual consent is and the possible effects of affirmative consent being implemented schools. The theory is that individuals do not have a common understanding of what sexual consent is. The hypothesis is that in college campuses, students have an unclear understanding of sexual consent, affirmative consent would decrease misunderstandings of consent and ultimately decrease sexual abuse. Requiring affirmative consent may decrease the vagueness of nonverbal consent and encourage parties to make it explicitly clear that they are interested in sexual activity. This study will compare the results of a survey between universities and colleges in Utah for a comprehensive view on attitudes towards affirmative consent. More than half of sexual abuse and rape victimizations are the result of behavior other than force, such as coercion, which puts additional emphasis on the possible relationship between affirmative consent and victimization. Data gathering will be done through electronic surveys distributed at colleges and universities in Utah and contain quantitative, closed ended questions only. 3. RESEARCH QUESTIONS Several schools have started enacting affirmative consent requirements, which requires sexual partners to get explicit consent before participating in sexual activity. These questions are important to answer as to the possible

The Jazz movement affected United States history and the future music industry in a variety of ways. Initially, the first jazz is said to have been played by funeral bands that wailed music full of soul and sadness as the followed horse drawn hearses down the streets of New Orleans. It was blues music though (Winfield 157). Many historians mark the start of the JazzAge on November 12, 1917 the day the Department of the Navy closed a thirty eight square block neighborhood known as storyville in the city of New Orleans. Little Louis sung in a vocal quartet in his early teens. His rise to the top, though not overnight, occurred quickly, he played with mostly all the major bands in New Orleans over the next few years (Friedwald 350). In 1922, his mentor, King Oliver, invited him to work his Creole Jazz Band in Chicago. After recording with Oliver for over a year, Armstrong moved into what would become the most important early jazz big band, Fletcher Henderson s Orchestra (Shipton 201). As if it were not enough that Armstrong would rewire instrumental music for the rest of the century, his singing did the same for vocal music. He sang much as he played, but with a playfulness and a rasp, that would forever be part of American culture (Winfield 167). The first important trend in New York Jazz was Hot Jazz that was an incendiary style introduced by Louis Armstrong (Winfield 170). He was known for both his joyous ways with the trumpet and his peculiarly touching and funny vocal style. There was a cheerful impatience in his playing, an optimistic confidence that led him to risk going over the top (Shipton 157). Louis Armstrong is arguably the most important musician that the United States has ever produced (Shipton 160). Eldridge is the obvious link between Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie. Armstrong could make an audience cheer, but Roy Eldridge, made those top and bottom notes feel like a natural part of what the horn should do (Friedwald 21). Blessed with

Interventions and Policies for Airline Accident Prevention The past practice of investigating all accidents and incidents (safety occurrences) is being replaced with a more systematic and selective process. As aircraft technology and systems development becomes more advanced, air travel perceived as safer and as such, the role of investigating agencies has evolved. A number of air safety investigation agencies have policies to help determine their level of response to occurrences by considering a range of factors such as the severity of the event, the category of aircraft involved, class of operation and public interest. In the majority of occurrences little investigative effort is subsequently undertaken. Despite this, the recurring nature of many accidents results in recommendations, interventions and policies which are conducive to accidentprevention. Although these can be improved to facilitate greater measurable outcomes and achievable improvements to aviation safety. When discussing aviation investigation policies, ICAO Annex 13 of the Chicago Convention states The sole objective of the investigation of an accident or incident shall be the prevention of accidents and incidents. It is not the purpose of this activity to apportion blame or liability (ICAO, 2001). The overarching documents or guidelines for accident investigation are deliberately non prescriptive designed to allow ICAO member states to implement legislation and classification systems they see fit for their industry. Whether its talking about hair or where we re from our gender to party costumes to triggers in general the PC culture has found its way into every aspect of our lives. So when we toss high fashion into the PC arena, we shouldn t be opposed or even surprised to acknowledge how it too, is influenced by the current political climate. High fashion has been traditionally and notoriously dominated by white men in brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior, Burberry...the list goes on. At the same time, the high fashion scene is always looking to showcase and reinvent what is cool and what is scarce . These days, the new stylish and innovative has become the unrefined, the different, the international, and the...street fashion. As society grows tolerant and aware of its diversity and cultures, especially away from only the cultural preferences of the white demographic, the initial tolerance becomes an interest, and the interest surges to a desire to represent that same diversity inherent to someone else. This hipster urge is not news, but in our political climate today, the desire to be other has manifested itself into a trend of appearing as off white, or, not an average white person. In fashion, one the most widespread trends is popularizing and incorporating streetwear into high fashion items. Streetwear is most recognizably associated with hip hop and skate culture. In hip hop culture, streetwear staples such as tracksuits and logo
  • 43. Personal Observation On High School Personal Observation of Problems on Brighton High School s Campus I am currently a Brighton High School Senior. Over the four years I have been at this school there have been things that I have longed to improve or change at my school. Some are just dreams that could never come into effect like, putting in stop lights and painted lines in the hallway similar to the road. Most of the time though they are realistic ideas that could drastically help impact the school campus. In my school campus I feel that the students are never aloud any time to enjoy their high school career, the school is never fully clean, and that all teachers do not strive to teach students to the best of their ability. Although, these are some things I would love to see change I am not the only one with these views. At Brighton High School the only importance is the end of the year test. Even though end of the year tests is very important there are other things that should hold some importance at the school. Also the school should give some rewards for all the hard work the students do, along with encouraging the students to try even harder. Sara said, I have always longed for the administration of Brighton High School to support the students and the cardinal spirit (Smith). This is just one person s opinion and there are many others that agree with her statement, for if administration cared deeply about the students the students would care deeply about their work. Olivia agrees with Sara and she says, I wish administration would give an incentive for students to try. I personally care about my grades, but many do not and if administration would have an incentive, for example, pep rallies every once in a while, then I feel many more students will care about their grades (Brunner). With these two students view it is clear that the students of Brighton High School feel that there should be more events held on campus. At Brighton High School the school is never fully clean, it may look clean but that is surly a deception. On campus the custodians always seem to be working, but the job never seems done. I don t know if it is the students, custodians, or the school as a whole is at fought, but either way it is always nasty. Lydia
  • 44. The Male Superiority Of The Age Paternal superiority has always been an important factor in society. Paternal superiority is when the male is the dominant character and feels like he has the upper hand compared to anyone, especially females. Males often feel like they are the dominant sex because they are assumed to be stronger than females. Since the formation of organized society, males have been in charge. Males also do not have the same standard way of acting in society. In history, men have always had more freedom than women have. This has made women seem like they are not as important as the males. This is how society has been brought up; the males have continually been in control. Although the modern reader can infer that Bronte was exaggerating maleauthority, she is actually reflecting the time period of the Victorian Era. Bronte uses several characters to exemplify the male superiority of the age. One character that portrays the dominance in that time is Edgar. At first glance, anyone would think that Edgar is a well dressed rich boy who is pampered and does not have to worry about a single thing. Reading further into the book, one may notice that he assumes a more dominant attitude towards a few people especially Catherine. He has the audacity to say that she cannot be friends with Heathcliff as well as Edgar, so she has to choose who she wants to stay with. Edgar is acting jealously and does not want to share Catherine with Heathcliff; he is afraid that Heathcliff will in some way steal

When I read this excerpt from the The Great Divorce, a classic and philosophical book that that takes its readers on a fantastic journey through the Afterlife, by C.S. Lewis, I thought for sure that my author was mistaken. It only took me a matter of pages to realize that I, myself, did not understand. Lewis shows his readers that the difference between Heavenand Hellisn t idolized riches, but attitude and belief. However, I believe that a life in Hell is one that consists of loneliness and unhappiness rather than living with selfish, unnecessary wealth. I also believe that having a relationship with God allows people to live a more selfless life because Christianityallows us to live for something bigger than just ourselves. The Afterlife is a topic that has been debated throughout history. In The Great Divorce, Heaven is shown as a place of selfless bliss and strong love for God and Hell as a place of selfish desires and love restricted only to ourselves and belongings. C.S. On the narrator s journey, he witnesses thought provoking conversations between the saved and the damned, after one of which he stated I do not know if I have ever seen anything more terrible than the struggle of that Ghost against joy. At this point, the main character was starting to dawn upon the realization that we need God, and that we cannot save ourselves. I believe that Lewis chose not to identify the narrator so that the focus of this book will not be on the characters, but the message that a relationship with the Lord leads to a more selfless

It seems obvious that, though Israel may have once been God s chosen people, Jesus has come, making what was once holy war unnecessary. As I listened to the lecture, the Aida refugee camp kept reminding me of the Native American reservations in the U.S. Just like the Palestinians, Native Americans were suppressed because they were in the way; they were hidden to be forgotten. Unlike how the Israelites shoot at the Palestinians, however, we don t generally shoot at people on reservations anymore. Yet, America in general wants to forget about these people. Seeing the cute children from the Aida camp and hearing your stories about their excitement for the activities reminded me of the children from the Winnebago, Nebraska reservation where I know many kids. People from my church go twice a year to continue relationships and do VBS with kids there. We ve brought a few back to Michigan over the years to participate in a trip with our own middle schoolers. I ve loved being a part of that ministry. The Aida center seems very similar. I find it sad that the kids in the Aida camp must live in the constant fear of not having enough water and of even being killed. At least for Native Americans they mostly just live in fear of their own families and the general hopelessness that the res brings. Though reservations have more freedom and amenities than the refugee camp, living on them isn t easy either. In a lot

We have been told that, if left alone, markets will produce the most efficient and effective outcome. Because individuals know what the best way is and they are the ones who will be rewarded according to their productivity. Therefore, maximized freedom and minimized state intervention have been regarded as the most beautiful contribution to economic development. However, not all neo liberal countries have achieved the expected outcome, in fact, most of them resulted in big failures. The growth rates of Latin America and Africa, which had been higher than other developing nations, dropped by over 60 percent after they embraced IMF sponsored neo liberalism in the 1980 s . Especially in Latin America, neo liberal policies were applied in the time. The result was that Latin America s per capita GDP fell by an average 0.5 percent a year for 10 years. Meanwhile, the growth rate of countries that state deeply intervenes its economy such as Northern Europe countries, China, Brazil and Singapore have enormously increased. Especially China s historic success along with the strong recent economic performance of Russia and several Persian Gulf states has renewed interest in the hybrid economic model. Those phenomena can t be explained by free market capitalism ideology. RESEARCH QUESTION: Is the neo liberal economy model the best for the national economy as a
