Why Israel Matters Case Study
Three Christian groups have collaborated to launch a 13 part original series titled Why Israel
Matters, which aims to show how important the Jewish state is to America, Christians, and the rest
of the world.
In a press release late last month, grassroots organization Liberty Counsel announced its partnership
with Christians in Defense of Israel (CIDI) and Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) in the
launching of Why Israel Matters on Feb. 28. TBN chairman Matt Crouch said their network has
been a staunch supporter of Israel because they believe that the people who bless the Jewish state
will also be blessed.
From the moment TBN first went on the air back in 1973, we ve taken seriously the scriptural
promise that God will bless those who bless

Book and Film Comparison
The Bourne Identity
Robert Ludlum
Richard Marek Publishers; First Edition edition (1980)
Setting
The setting of the novel takes place largely in Europe. The story opens in the Mediterranean Sea
off the coast of France. The story moves throughout France largely in Paris. Zurich, Switzerland is
also a major setting. New York City and Washington, D.C. also play lesser but important roles.
The story ends in the upper west side of Manhattan in New York City. Other parts of the world are
alluded to as well, especially Southeast Asia.

With Marie s reluctant help, Bourne edges closer to the truth, something CIA officials want
concealed at all costs. The Bourne Identity co stars Chris Cooper, Clive Owen, Brian Cox, and Julia
Stiles. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi
III. Effectiveness/ Success of the Adaptation: It would be futile to compare this movie with the
book, as the movie ignores most of the plot in the book, only keeping the element of an amnesiac
agent. Although they share a name, The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum and its movie
adaptation have very little to nothing in common. (see Fig 1.0) Compared side by side, the
movie will hardly cover the first 3 chapters of the book. The book describes a man who is found
shot in the ocean without his memory. He is saved by a couple of men and taken to a doctor on
land who helps him regain his strength and begin to remember his past. The man travels to Zurich
because of a negative found implanted in his body that leads to a bank. There, he is ambushed by
enemies he knows not, and with the help of an unwilling woman named Marie St. Jacques he
escapes. The man, whose name is discovered to be Jason Bourne, and Marie fall in love and end up
in Paris.

Problems with guessing the compaction curve from the Family of Curves
Out in the field, some testers interpolate a compaction curve to represent the material using the
Alberta Family of Curves. One of the goals of this applied research, was to test the accuracy of
this method. It was concluded that the only true way to verify the legimitacy of this curve is by
doing index testing such as atterberg limits and grain size analysis on the soil. The City of
Edmonton does require the testing firm to do a standard proctor and atterberg limits on each soil
type on a project. A true maximum dry density and optimum moisture content can be obtained
only by doing a standard proctor in the lab. Furthermore, the liquid limit and plastic limit values
can give the tester a better idea on how much moisture variance is acceptable for the material. In
case the Alberta Family of curves must be used to quickly obtain a compaction curve in the field,
having a classification of the soil using atterberg limits and grain size analysis will provide the
tester with backup information to interpolate a more reliable compaction curve.
Does 100% of a one point proctor equal 98% of a standard proctor?
According to the City of Edmonton, 100% compaction achieved relative to a one point proctor is
as good as 98% compaction achieved relative to a standard proctor. From the test results conducted
in this research, it was concluded that this comparison is incorrect. This is explained in

The Key Role Of The Commercial Rating Agencies
The pivotal role that the three large US credit rating agencies Moody s, Standard Poor s (S P) and
Fitch played in the recent subprime mortgage lending and the following financial crisis has led to
extended regulation of these agencies and requires significantly more regulation. Credit rating
agencies and the ratings they supply are critical information resource for investors. An error in the
credit rating process has a huge impact on buyers and sellers of credit. It also affects the overall
performance of the financial markets.
Oligopoly of the credit rating agencies
The rating industry is known as an oligopoly, because there are only three significant credit
agencies in the US Moody s, Standard Poor s (S P) and Fitch. In an industry run by oligopoly,
perfect competition does not exist. Because each company has a large market share, they are
said to have market power, a situation where one or more of the participants is able to set the
price or other outcomes in some general or specialized market. The oligopolists have the ability to
dictate the market. In oligopolistic market one company may fear that if the other company rises
price, rivals will refuse to reciprocate and will take a substantial amount of its customers, leading to
the firm s large drop in sales. Since the transactors in bond markets are mostly institutional bond
managers, financial institutions should have the ability to receive the bond creditworthiness
information from a broader range of

Living A Happy And Simple Life
Do you think it is possible to live a happy and simple life? It is more than certainly possible to live
a life of bliss, even in a world with today s chaotic means. You do not need to be rich in order to
live a luxurious life, you could be the poorest person in the world but also the happiest. Social
media is also a very big aspect for humanity when it comes to happiness.
As stated in the introduction, you can be the poorest person in the world, yet happier than the
richest person. A statement from a very well known commercial and advertisement company
Charmin Ultra, less is more, is a very great statement to be used in this aspect, because a person that
is considered in today s society to be average or mediocre in life, to have less ... Show more content

Some may say that money is what true happiness is all about, money buys happiness, and
without riches, you are nothing and have no reasons to be happy, nor exist. If one has all the best
things in life, it will make them happy, for it has no reason to do otherwise. Social networking is
mandatory because without it you are left in the dark about what is going on in the world and one
s happiness has nothing to do with people s use of social media.
However, those who say money buys happiness must be one of two things; liers or blind to the
fact that you can have true happiness with no money at all. According to Bruno, Living simple is
not easy because it requires lots of patience and dedication. First you would need to make a game
plan and know you want in life, what you need, and what you can live without. It is interesting to
find out all the things you can live without that you once thought you needed to survive. Planning is
the key to having a happy and simple life (2017).
Social Media is more than definitely an indication for one s happiness because as stated early,
there are many events that occur where someone gets bullied and begins having suicidal thoughts
or get depressed from all the negative situations shown on the Internet which allows no room for
happiness. Sometimes it is better to not know what is going on in life, if it has no personal affect
on you, their should be no reason for you to

Theories Of Conspiracy Theories
According to the Oxford Dictionary a conspiracy is: A secret plan by a group to do something
unlawful or harmful and The action of plotting or conspiring Cambridge Dictionary seems to
take similar approach; it says that a conspiracy is: the activity of secretly planning with other
people to do something bad or illegal. Based on these two definitions we can draw up a theory
that a conspiracy theories are stories or plots of sinister and illegal events or deeds committed by
evil people (sort of villains) to harm the humanity. Slightly different approach to conspiracy can be
found in the Rough Guide to Conspiracy Theories by James McConnachie and Robin Tuge. They
write that: To conspire once meant to breath together . It is an image of the most intimate and
secretive complicity, perfectly conjuring smoky political backrooms, sinister whisperings... Show

But all these definitions listed above have something in common; They state that conspiracy is
illegal and harmful act of plotting against someone or some group. It is always done in secret.
That is why so many people come up with so many different and wild conspiracy theories. They
think that the knowledge of a true nature of a certain event is hidden from the society and they
look for the most possible (or improbable) explanation. Jessie Walker, a writer interested in
conspiracy topic, has created five basic kinds of conspiracy theories: The Enemy Outside a group
of villains scheming outside community to harm it. The Enemy Within conspirators mixed with
ordinary people, undistinguishable from them. The Enemy Above people in power that are
manipulating law and the system for their own good. The Enemy Below people of lower classes
conspiring to overturn the social order. The Benevolent Conspiracies a group or forces that work
secretly to improve the world and help

How Did The American Slave Trade Affect The West Indies
When most people think of the West Indies, they mainly think of Jamaica, Barbados, and
Hispaniola (the Dominican Republic and Haiti), which also happen to be some of the most popular
vacation areas. Yet, after a flight over to any of these hot spots, one would begin to notice the land
is sprinkled with old sugar plantations, the countries and territories are heavily populated with
African and Creole descendants, and there is a clear division between wealthy communities and
their slum like counterparts. These characteristics were brought upon the West Indies through Sugar
Trade, beginning roughly around the first English settlements in the 1620 s and living through the
passing of the English Slave Trade Act on March 25, 1807. Europeans began... Show more content

After arriving to the plantations, slaves almost instantaneously faced the high mortality rate which
was caused by disease, despondency, accidents, malnutrition, and the harsh labor regime (Pares).
The most common of the diseases included smallpox, scurvy, worms, dysentery, and more, which
were paired with the overworking and underfeeding of slaves. The unhealthy states of the slaves
worsened when they were paired with the punishments of masters due to resistance and refusal to
work. In some cases, the situations were so awful that many African slaves attempted to run away;

Professional Plumbing Contractors
Are you in need of a professional plumbing contractor for your business? What you may not know
is a reliable and professional pluming contractor is not the same as a residential plumber. There
may be the same types of pipes, but a lot more is involved.
A professional plumbing contractor in Alameda needs to have special tools, training, experience,
and a set of required classifications. Fixing a clogged toilet in a bathroom will be the same as
fixing a clog in an office building. However, the main difference is the scale of the work. The
preparation needed in an office building, retail establishment, or other large building will be
different.
The size of the building is typically the main difference between residential and commercial

Buildings with multiple floors means water pressure will be extremely important. Gravity will
have an impact on how the pipes in a building function. The repair techniques that are used may
vary, based on the nature of the problem. This can also have an impact on the tools being used by
reliable and professional plumbing contractors in Alameda. Multiple floors also affect the time
needed to complete a repair.
Time Factors
The time a professional plumbing contractor needs to complete a job is longer to do than a
residential plumber. A residential jobs can typically be completed in a day or up to a week based
on the work that is needed. Some commercial jobs can easily take a month or more to complete.
Commercial plumbers are used to this type of schedule. An estimate will typically be provided to

A Formal Analysis Of Death Mask Based On Gold Death Mask...
A Formal Analysis of Death Mask Based on Gold Death Mask from Mycenae, Grave Circle A,
Shaft Grave IV circa 1550 BC
The Greek Exhibition section of The Royal Ontario Museum houses this replica, one made by an
unknown artist, of an original, gold funeral mask said to be a depiction of the face of the
Mycenaean King, Agamemnon. Known widely as the Death Mask of Agamemnon, the original
artefact dates to 1550 BC, which corresponds with the Greek Bronze Age when metals were
being worked due to technological advancements in various urban societies of the world. It is a
marvel of craftsmanship as much as of cultural and technological prowess of that age since the
original was made from a single sheet of almost pure gold.
Discovered in a burial site labelled Grave Circle A, shaft Grave IV on the citadel of Mycenae by an
archaeologist named Henrich Schliemann (1876), the original mask has been claimed to belong
to the grave of King Agamemnon of Mycenae. This claim has since been questioned for it verity
since the grave was likely dug as much as three centuries before Agamemnon is thought to have
lived and ruled. Nevertheless, the death mask has an aura of romance and mystery about it since it
reveals so much about the cultural and social practices of the civilization of Mycenae, who like
other ancients such as the Egyptians made funerary masks for their powerful and wealthy dead.
The original of this mask, made as it is with such finely sculpted and etched detail out of a thin sheet

Angelas Ashes Essay
Although life presents you with many obstacles, if you continue to persevere, eventually you will
achieve success. Angela s Ashes, by Frank McCourt, is a good example of this. Frank is constantly
limited by his poverty. We watch him stick with his goals and eventually accomplish them in the
end. He also watches his mother continually try to stretch the family budget in order to get meager
amountsof food. Death is also very prevalent in this book as Frank and his family have to adjust to
the death of loved ones.

Throughout Frank s childhood, there were very few times when feeding the family was not a
challenge. Even when Frank s father was working, he would very often drink his paycheck
instead of bringing it home to his family. Frank remembers a time when his father did bring
home his paycheck, and took notice at how proud his mother was when she was finally able to
pay the man for her groceries. She was able to hold her head up again because there s nothing
worse in the world than to owe and be beholden to anyone (23). This is where Frank learns that
the ability to pay brings dignity and self respect. He draws a connection, that when he has food,
his family is prospering. Later on in life, when Frank begins to earn his own wages, he loves the
feeling of independence, and dreams of providing for a family of his own. He works for Mr.
Hannon, delivering coal, and makes many of the other boys jealous of him. He doesn t mind
when the boys harass him though, because he has the job and Mr. Hannon tells him he s powerful
(264). Frank connects having a job with being powerful. This shows how Frank was able to
overcome the struggles of hunger and actually taught him the value of hard work.
Frank experiences his share of sadness relating to several deaths of

Standardized Testing Argumentative Essay
Standardized tests, the monster all students have to face. These important tests are known to cause
high amounts of stress on not only students, but also teachers, causing them to teach to the test.
This, and the stress, can negatively affect a student s potential to learn as much as they possibly
can. Studies have proven that standardized tests also are not reliable for many reasons. One reason
being, standardized tests do not even accurately measure how much an individual student has
learned. So, why do standardized tests even exist?
The earliest form of standardized tests were used to measure the knowledge, of people wanting
government jobs, on philosophy and poetry. Another early form of standardized tests, were essays.
The more modern version of standardized tests started in the 1800 s when school had become more
of an option over working, to get children out of dangerous workplaces like factories. The tests
these students took are similar to modern ones, where everyone in the same grade gets the same
exact test. The reason for standardized tests back then, were to easily and quickly, evaluate how
much the students had learned. Now that we have more efficient ways of evaluating how much a
student has learned, why do we still use this method of testing?
There are two common ways a standardized test is taken. One way, is filling in ... Show more

Teachers worry about losing their job if their students do not perform well on the test. So, they will
frequently teach to the test which means they may skip over a lesson if they think it will not be on
the test, or teach things a certain way because that s how they think it will be asked on a test. This
can alter the potential a student has to learn. Basically, standardized tests are used to determine how
much a student has learned, yet, at the same time, it is causing teachers to skip certain parts of the
course. Standardized tests contradict

Contaminated Groundwater
Did you know that, drinking contaminated water can cause diseases such as hepatitis? Poising
may be caused by toxins that have leached into well water supplies. Materials from the lands

contaminated groundwater. Over 50% of the United States population depends on groundwater for
drinking water. It can be related to wastedisposal, land disposal of solid waste and brine disposal
from the petroleum industry.

Brine requires proper disposal which many times require permits or other regulatory compliance
actions. Brine
disposal has many methods such as sewer discharge, deicing agent, evaporation pond, and surface
water discharge. The cost on disposal is depending on three factors, volume discharged,
concentration of biological oxygen demand, and concentration of total suspended solids. Brine
underflow slows down along the bay bottoms, limiting oxygen transport to the sediments.
To sum up, groundwater contamination can be related to waste disposal, land disposal of solid
waste, and brine disposal from the petroleum industry. Over 50% of the United States population
depends on ground water for drinking water. Water management needs to be in place to regulate
what is going in water and where waste can be put to prevent contamination. Contamination of
groundwater and population of surface water with waste are big problems affecting water supply.

Essay on Music Censorship
Music Censorship
Today, in the 1990 s, citizens in our society are being bombarded with obscene material from
every direction. From the hate lyrics of Gun s N Roses to the satanic lyrics of Montley Crue and
Marilyn Manson to the sexually explicit graphical content of today s movies, the issue is how
much society is going to permit and where we, as a society, should we draw the line. The freedom
of speech has always been considered a right, but that doesn t mean that you can shout, Fire! in a
crowded movie theater. The real question is whether such material is harmful or dangerous to our
society.
Many people are asking whether or not we should censor offensive material. They believe that
some material is too obscene for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While some people feel that government officials are the best way to restrict offensive messages,
others feel that self censorship is a more effective method. A recent series of incidents suggests
that executives in many private firms have begun doing just that. Book publishers, TV stations,
and others have drawn the line when faced with words or images that are tasteless or offensive.
For example, in 1990, Andy Rooney, a CBS news correspondent, was suspended for his racist
remark, Blacks have watered down their genes because the less intelligent ones... have the most
children.
Another episode of self imposed censorship is when George Michael released his song I Want
Your Sex. In 1987, AIDS and other sexual diseases were rampantly spreading and his song
condoned casual sex. The MTV executives also sent the video for this song back because of the
explicit, sexual images.
A third incident happened when MTV drew the line again, this time with Madonna s video for
Justify My Love. They said that the video illustrates Madonna s erotic fantasies. It was said to be
too hot to handle.
The advocates of the second solution agree that America is suffering from a deluge of offensive
messages, but they feel that the best way of dealing with the problem is not government censorship,
but private sector censorship.
The critics of this point of view think that private sector censorship will not be

The Benefits Of Breast Feeding
The Benefits of Breast Feeding Since the invention of formula mothers have had trouble deciding
how best to go about feeding their children. Each mother has their own preferred feeding technique,
some of whom chose to use both feeding methods depending on the situation. For some mothers
breast feeding is not a viable option for reasons such as lactationissues, busy schedules, and
secondary care givers (Health Psychology). For those mothers whom are able and willing to breast
feed their infants there is a definite benefit. Breast feeding is shown to benefit the mother and child
through its natural ability to aide in the mother s inner peace, its health giving properties, its
superior nutrient content compared to formula, and accessibility. Though breast feeding is
undoubtedly the optimum feeding method, it is not necessarily a possibility for some mothers
(The Nemours Foundation). For example couples who choose to adopt children are obviously not
able to breast feed their child because the mother is not lactating. Other mothers just simply do not
have the time to breast feed their children because they are busy running errands (Health
Psychology). Another reason some mothers do not breast feed is that they are using a baby sitter
so they need the baby sitter to have some way to feed the child (Health Psychology). The reasons
behind bottle feeding are definitely sound but they only prove that bottle feeding is an alternative
method, not a replacement for breast

Most African objects bear neither labels nor signatures, and unfortunately it is impossible to date

Analysis Of Harrisburg University Of Science And...
Executive Summary Harrisburg University of Science and Technology located at 326 Market
Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17101 is a growing major educational hub which is attracting
more students and faculty per every passing year. As a result of which, there is a growing need
to accommodate all the vehicles and cars that the students and faculty uses to get to the
University. The current location of the university is right in the middle of Downtown
Harrisburg and therefore the constraints on the parking situation are pretty stringent.
Harrisburg University, apart from regular day to day classes, also holds executive classes for
online students thereby keeping the number of attendees to the school equally high even on the
select weekends. As of January 11, 2016, the University had 400 undergraduate, 2600 graduate
students and 150 full and part time faculty and staff. [1] The University only has one (1) 16 story
academic building and the Harrisburg Parking Authority operates a garage within the same
building. This garage, opened in 2005, is a 9 floor parking sandwiched in the 16 story are
hidden from the view so that the building has more of a presence in the Downtown area [2].
Apart from this allotted parking, Street Parking may be available and is free on the Weekends
and after 5:00 PM on Weekdays. This proposal is initiated as a result of the growing need for a
more comprehensive approach to plan the campus parking , both as it relates to current campus

The 32 year old patient is presenting with chronic headaches. Subjective data indicates over the eye
throbbing or pressure that spreads to the ipsilateral temple which typically occurs on the left side.
This headaches occur with extremely light and sounds which become aggravated with movement.
Given this information, it is necessary to explore additional questions. According to Guilbea and

out another diagnoses. They questioned presented to the patient are listed below. Question one will
identify whether the headache is primary or secondary. Using the well established PQRST pain
method, the questions are designed based on this method. For question two the P aspects of pain

The Medical Ethics Of Human Experimentation
When one researches about the medical ethics in human experimentation, it is difficult to
disregard the harsh realities of it. As Leonard Nimoy stated in his role as Spock in the movie,
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few . This is
the cruel truth that be seen everywhere, but many people tend to ignore it since it is such a
dreary thought. Many people, especially those in third world countries, are exploited every day.
Large corporate companies come to typically poorer foreign nations, where there is a large gap
between the rich and poor, to find cheaper workers. Many people in these foreigners tend to be
desperate for money and immediately sign up for these jobs. Typical corporations would hire these
people and make them work in inhumane working conditions such as long hours, less pay, and give
no sanitation facilities. Although this happens on an everyday basis, there are very few people out
there who challenge the large corporations. This example can also apply to medical ethics,
sometimes a small amount of people have to suffer through experiments to help the general public.
Although this is a morbid thought, it has been used in the past. During the mid twentieth century,
many American scientist believe that experimenting on a few people and making them suffer
would create results that would be very beneficial to the general public. Today, most modern
developed countries don t believe in this ideology, but there are

The Endless Possibilities of 3D Printing Essay
Why go to stores and spend lots of money buying toys, jewelry, cups and many other plastic utilities
when you can only press one button and print them out for yourself. This futuristic idea is not only
innovating the scientific and technological world, but it is also innovating modern day households.
The possibilities of 3D printingare extremely captivating, making this one of the most exciting
innovations in recent times. 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, makes three
dimensional solid objects from a digital model or command. To picture how this process works,
3D printers use an additive process, where adding layers of a successive material creates an object.
Traditional machines, however, uses a subtractive process by... Show more content on

Although 3 D printers are not yet a standard part of home computing equipment, the latest
generation of devices, such as CubeВ® by 3D Systems, the Cubexв„ў or Makerbot s
Replicatorв„ў2X which retail for between one and three thousand US dollars are bringing the
possibility of home manufacturing one step closer to reality (Jewell). Now the biggest difference
between traditional manufacturing and 3D printing will be the emergence of mass customization.
Goods will be, infinitely more customized, because altering them won t require retooling, only
tweaking the instructions in the software. Creativity in meeting individuals needs will come to
the fore, just as quality control did in the age of rolling out sameness (D Aveni). When you have
a product that is printed out individually from software with your own customization, then there
would be no reason in buying a product that will look like something another person can own
because of its ordinary accessibility. Creating physical 3D models in a fast, easy and affordable
way has great potential, especially when you can do it in the comfort of your home. As 3D printers
are becoming live in the market, they demonstrate great potential by fostering economic growth.
The implications of this revolutionary technology indeed promise to have a radical impact on the

Macbeth who committed a sin by murdering King Duncan and taking the throne gets
overwhelmed with guilt as his life progresses as King. By becoming King, he is engulfed with
power, but he was never happy about the position he held. The guilt of taking King Duncan s
power has to lead him to be unsatisfied with his wealth since he didn t truly deserve it. His
ambition for the gain of power prevailed when he decided to murder King Duncan causing him
to be more ambitious for power in the form of killing. By seeing the ghost of Banquo and hiding
the death of King Duncan makes Macbeth mentally unstable and causes him to make irrational
acts of killing and decision making, such as to kill Macduff s family solely on the reason that he s
afraid of Macduff. Both Lady Macbeth and the Witches try to control Macbeth through persuasion,
prophecies, and apparitions lead to Macbeth being unsatisfied with his doings and his murders
because Macbeth believes that there is always more power to gain from killing. In Macbeth, the

Youth Rebelliion In The 1950s Essay
History Essay By Ben Roberson
During the 1950 s there was significant social change taking place in America. Young people
were dissatisfied with certain conservative aspects of society and their conduct reflected this.
They embraced the rock and roll culture, the new style of music and also the new styles of
dancing and dress that were associated with it shocked the older more conservative people.
Young people were also quick to protest against the controversial issues of the 1950 s. Civil
Rights, the Vietnam War and general politics provided fuel for an already blazing fire. Mass

Around this time young people began to break away from their parents. Prior to this each
generation had grown up treating their parents with the utmost respect and modelling their
behaviour and views on their parents. This change was made easier by the freedom brought
about by access to a car, which lead to increased independence. After the war there was huge
economic growth in America, this coupled with mass production of automobiles made transport
relatively cheap most families were able to afford a car. The children of these families were
often allowed to take out the family car, granting them more freedom to go out with friends and
more privacy for couples. This new show of independence was also evident in the young people s
reaction to social issues that were taking place. Many of the young war veterans returning from the
Second World War and the Korean Warfound it very hard to fit back into society. Many of these
veterans got heavily into both drug taking and social protest. However it wasn t only the youth
returning from war who were dissatisfied with the governments reaction to a number of issues that
young people felt very passionate about, namely civil rights and the onset of the Vietnam War.

Barbie s Negative Impact on Young Girls
Every girl dreams to have flawless hair, perfect looks, and a slim body with a huge house,

visualization from the one and only Barbie. Barbie is known to be the perfect doll with a perfect
lifestyle and look, but in reality she is ruining the self esteem and lives of imperfect children. On
average, a girl in the early stages of childhoodowns about seven to ten different Barbie dolls and
spends multiple hours playing with them. This doll has not been a good role model for children
because the more time anyone spends time with anything, the more influence it has on them
(SarenDipty). Barbie has a negative impact on young girls live s by causing eating disorders,

Mascot Analysis

This analysis will focus on the importance of mascots for the selected institutions and how they
relate to the normal livelihoods of the students in both universities. The term mascot is used to refer
to an animal, a person or object that is believed to bring some sense of good luck in various
perspectives. It is a term and phenomenon that has been consistently used through history to relate
to the success of various institutional activities, especially in the sports arena. Institutions with
mascots tend to have a deep history in terms of its selection and related significance. The two

Since then, the institution has passed a joint ideology about the nocturnal bird to its students with
emphasis put on how it represents a sense of knowledge and wisdom thus a perfect symbol to use in
any center of learning (Temple University, 2015). Also, the owl mascot has been attributed to the
goddess Athena, who is mythically known for her wisdom, knowledge, arts, skills and precision in
warfare. From nature s perspective, the owl is deemed a resourceful, perceptive, courageous and
fierce fighter. These attributes have been prescribed to the university students for years with an
objective of building a learning culture in the institution. The main problem noted with the
perception created for this mascot is that the university has not reiterated on how the symbol can be
incorporated to ensure success in the extra curriculum activities. The university is not famous or
well established in sporting events, and this can be attributed to the message passed by the
institution to the students (Owlsports,

Lab Report Catalase And Hydrogen Peroxide
In this lab we used catalase (enzyme), and this enzyme was a catalyst used to breakdown the
hydrogen peroxide. An enzyme will bind with a substrate, then form an enzyme substrate complex,
and then the new products then leave the enzyme. The enzyme binds with the substrate in the
active site. The active site is where enzymes act. Enzymes do not undergo permeant changes during
the reaction, (ch302). The catalyst is not part of the reactant, instead it is added to the reactant to
speed up the reaction. The catalyst overall will lower the activation energy for the reaction. This is
because the enzymechanges the way the reaction happens, (Enzyme and...). In our lab the enzyme

Changes And Continuity Of Contemporary Bolivia
Change and Continuity in Contemporary Bolivia
Diversity of Capitalism and Economy, Emergence of Plurinational
Self Government, Patterns of Cultural Change and Continuity, and Consensual Community
Organization
The events that took place before and after Western involvement have led to modern day Bolivia
and help explain the implications for how Bolivia has changed and stayed the same under the
Morales administration, which implemented the new constitution in 2009. After the constitution
was ratified, some legislation quickly followed suit, including the electoral system, a law of
autonomies, and a law establishing the parameters of communitarian justice in indigenous areas
(Crabtree and Chaplin 2013:25).
Regarding the economical standpoint, while the average income has soared, the Morales
administration has not been able to radically change the economy; rather it has followed a neo
extractivist model due to the lingering reliance on gas and other resources. Although this means a
larger role for the state, it also means that Bolivia is even more dependent on its natural resources
(Farthing and Kohl 2014:79). With so much of the country s earnings coming from natural
resources, this puts a strain on a left wing country that is trying to move away from such capitalist
influences. An example of how this distribution of money manifests is that urban problems, such as
the building of new roads and schools, are often given more attention than rural issues (Crabtree and

Compare And Contrast Thoreau And Walden
A Literary Analysis of works by Mary Oliver Henry David Thoreau
Author, Henry David Thoreau and Mary Oliver are both very passionate about nature and what it
has to offer in life, as well as the symbolism behind nature and its creatures in their works of
literature, in Walden , and The House of Light , Both authors discuss their views of nature and the
beauty of the world that they want to make familiar to their audience. In this essay, I ll provide my
reasoning behind this statement.
In Walden , Thoreau talks about his experience living at Walden pond for what he said was two
years, two months and two days where he for the most part, isolated himself from civilization and
supported himself with the help of no one else. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We talk slowly, two women trying/ in a difficult time to be wise./ Roots in the cellar drains,/ I say,

Mary Oliver was symbolizing this tree as something more than just a tree. I feel that the roots in
the drain that were mentioned were symbolized as her family s roots that are connected to that
tree, and when she says the roots are in the cellar drains, to me that meant that those roots go back
to a very long time ago, maybe as far back as to when the tree was planted or when the house that
it stands over was built.
I really liked Thoreau s belief that the mainstream American lifestyle along with the technology

Summary Of Edgar Allan Poe s Poem The Raven
On January 1809, Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston. His father left very early in his life and
his mother died when he was 3. Poe was taken in as a foster child by Frances and John Allan.
Despite the fact that Poe academically excelled he could not pay his college loans and started
gambling. John Allan refused to pay his gambling debts and was forced to leave. After that, his
relationship with John Allan quickly fell apart.
In 1827 Poe moved to Boston and joined the army. Poe wrote many poems while he was enlisted,

Poe uses is symbolism. In lines 20 21 it says Them with a tighter clasp? Oh them I cannot save!
which symbolizes people dying in the narrator s life, and not being able to save them no matter
how hard you try. The correlates to the theme because the theme is about losing people and and
your grief won t go away, and the narrator is grieving about not being able to save them . The last
piece of figurative language is hyperbole. In lines 10 11 it reads All that we see or seem is all a

According to WTO, zeroing is a calculation method that ignores negative margin of dumping. To
know more, see appendix 1 on how it s calculated. As a result, it causes an unfair increase of
dumping liability of exporter (WTO, n.d.). Therefore, Thailand brought this case to WTO, and this
case is very similar to the Ecuador s case which has been judged before as unfair.
My perspective
From the previous result, I quite agree with the decision made by the panel that imposing tariff
calculated by using zeroing method, as a reason of antidumping, is unfair because of the following
reasons.
According to Article VI of GATT, during the Uruguay Round, antidumping means charging extra
import duty on a product in order to bring its price closer to the fair value or to help domestic
industries from injury. Also, you need to calculate the extent of dumping, investigate the impact to
importing countries, and look into all economic factors that could affect before you can impose
tariff (definition, n.d.).
According to Free Trade Organization, Dan Ikenson, policy analyst, claims Few trade policies
engender more bitterness and international ill will than the U.S. antidumping law. For many years,
that law has been the weapon of choice among domestic producers seeking to quell import
competition. (zeroing, April 27, 2004)

Example Of Social Comparison
Social Comparison
Festinger s (1954) seminal paper explained how self concept is obtained and maintained using
social comparisons. Several researchers such as Marsh Hau (2003) and Marsh Parker (1984),
have also supported Festinger s (1954) studies by stating that social comparison is used to develop
a self concept. Corcoran, Crusius Mussweiler (2011) also emphasised the importance of
comparisons, stating that comparisons between the self and others are a fundamental psychological
mechanism influencing people s judgments, experiences, and behavior (p.119). Humans have a
drive to have an accurate appraisal of their abilities, and social comparison provides an efficient way
to obtain information about our abilities. (Corcoran, Crusius Mussweiler, 2011; Festinger, 1954)
For unambiguous tasks, (ex: running), objective reality is used. Example for running, time is
compared. For ambiguous tasks subjective reality is used, even though subjective comparisons are
unstable and prone to error. Subjective reality describes how others see you performed the task.
When an objective evaluation is available, no comparison will be done. Hence, only if an objective
evaluation is unavailable, is a subjective one used. For instance, for opinions and judgements, ...

Memory is a very important and essential to all of our lives. Without any type of memory from

travelling experience with aliens, no less. Anyway, Vonnegut starts the novel in a way that s in a
similar approach to Cat s Cradle, where he is the narrator of a story; even states that it s an anti war
novel on page three. The narration quickly changes to third person but it s still Vonnegut playing
the subtle author figure in the story, which is ingenious on the part of Kurt Vonnegut
. This keeps the
narrative hook from chapter one that this is an anti war novel, albeit he s using a character to
convey the story. Throughout the novel, Vonnegut uses some literary techniques throughout this

Abolition
The abolition movement is one of the most important events that blacks remember and find so
meaningful because it was the attempt to free black slaves. Abolition is the attempt to end slavery
and many of historic figures were apart of this movement. They knew that slavery was wrong and
a sin before God. Abolitionist worked diligently on the cause and William Lloyd Garrisonwas one
who I admire for his many works. William Lloyd Garrison was born in Newburyport,
Massachusetts, and by the age of 25 he joined his first abolition movement called The American
Colonization Society this is where his first works began. Garrison and the abolitionist felt that
slavery was a crime against God and man and he also had a strong Christian belief that led him
to feel that God had designed him ti do great things which ended up being to end slavery. By the
age of 25 he took a job in Baltimore which was predominantly black, as a journeyman at the
National Philanthropist, where he gained much experience that he eventually decided to start his
own newspaper. January 1, 1831, Garrison published his first newspaper called The Liberator
which the first paper s topic was ending slavery. In 1832 he helped organize the New England
Anti Slavery Society, and, on December 4, 1833, the American Anti Slavery Society was formed
when 63 people signed a manifesto after one of his published newspapers. As a

The Impact Of Remittances
In recent times, overseas workers have been sending larger remittances annually to their home
countries. These remittances proves to be a vital source of foreign exchange for developing
countries. The overall development impact of remittances, however, has not been well established.
Remittances are spent primarily on day to day consumption expenditures, housing, land purchase,
and debt repayment. Remittancesare also directed into productive investments. Remittances spent on
domestic goods and services in Pakistan provide motivation to domestic industries. From a
macroeconomic perspective, remittances can boost aggregate demand and thereby GDP as well as
a catalyst for economic growth.

Consumption smoothing . Many recipients of remittances, especially in rural areas, have highly
variable incomes. Remittances allow better matching of incomes and spending, the misalignment of
which otherwise threatens survival and/or the taking on of debt.
Education. In many developing countries, education is expensive at all levels, whatever the formal
commitments of the State. Remittances can allow for the payment of school fees and can provide
the wherewithal for children to attend school rather than working for family survival.[2]
Housing. The use of remittances for the construction, upgrading and repair of houses is prominent
in many widely different circumstances.
Health. Remittances can be employed to access preventive and ameliorative health care. As with
education, affordable health care is often unavailable in many remittance recipient countries.
Debt. Remittances provide for the repayment of debts and for the means to avoid the taking on of
debt by providing alternative income and asset

How Does State Lottery Affect Society
A state lottery is a revenue source that extracts a great deal of money from the people who can
least afford it; some say it is a tax on stupidity. Do the rich play the lottery? Some members of the
middle class may play as an occasional, inexpensive diversion, but the vast majority of people who
play the lotteryare poor. Merely because the poor are in a more economically desperate position.
Currently 43 states in the United States run lotteries as a government operation. Stateofficials claim
the profit made from the famous lotteries such as Powerball and Mega Millions is donated to
improving the society; however, lotteries unscrupulously and negatively impact our society because
they prey on the less fortunate and they do not provide... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The State Government hits the poorest the hardest. Lotteries take the most from those who can
least afford it. A 2010 study found that households with take home incomes of less than $13,000
spent on average $645 a year on lottery tickets, which is about 9% of their income. The reason
people play lotteries varies, but it mixes hopes and dreams with desperation: poorer people see it
as a slim chance to radically improve their standard of living. Ethnicity and education also play a
role in purchasing lottery tickets. In Texas, African Americans and Hispanics outspend
Caucasians nearly two to one on lottery tickets. According to a 2005 Texas Tech demographic
survey commissioned by the lottery, African Americans in Texas spend $109 a month on lottery
tickets, Hispanics spend $102, and Caucasians spend $55. Household with incomes under
$25,000 spent an average of about $600 a year, while $100,000 plus earners spent about $300
year. People who never graduated from college spent the most, about $700 a year, while
graduates spent under $200.This is taking money from the poor, working and lower middle
classes than form those most able to pay taxes. These billions also are diverted away from local
businesses it is exactly the opposite of the kind of economic stimulus a depressed economy needs.

The work of literature Midaq Alley by Naguib Mahfouz introduces the audience an Arab culture

people in the alley with different beliefs and ambitions. Moreover, the characteristics of Mahfouz s

Hamida is the character that represents the people who yearn for a change. Often, she feels as
though she is worth more than just living in the old alley and she calls it a Nothing Alley (27)
and asking herself Oh what a shame Hamida, what are you doing living in this alley? (27) .
During World War II, many people in Midaq Alley go to work for the soldiers in the hope of
earning more money and living in a more comfortable life. Hamida is one of those people who
sacrifice themselves and everything that they have in an exchange for the wealthy life they
always have dreamed of. Hamida is not a religious person and has a different perspective from
the people in the alley because she sees a better life in the modern world. In the end, she decides
to become a prostitute for pretty clothes and jewelries. She does not regret choosing this life as
she is able to have an opportunity that gives her desire for life and adventure (186) .
The older generations are the people who do not get affected by the new culture replacing their
old one as it is hard to break their habits and traditions. Furthermore, they do not have the desire
for adventure and leaving their homes behind. The last group of the three categories would be
Abbas. He is the person who could not leave the alley behind and does not want any change in his

Raising The Minimum Wage Of The United States
Raise the minimum wage: In the United States, studies show that women tend to make up a
disproportionate share of low wage workers. In the field of education, men tends to go more to
STEM than women and that also leads to high paying jobs for men. If we raise the minimum wage,
this will help hardworking women to support their families. Approximately, women made up two
thirds of all minimum wageworkers in 2012. With the current federal minimum wagei.e. $7.25 per
hour, someone working full time, only earn $15,080 a year round. People working full time with
minimum wage is still below the povertythreshold for any family with children and single person
is also not far above the poverty line. So, increasing the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour
would help increase the wages for about 15 million women, which will help close the gender wage
gap.
Raise the tipped minimum wage: The gender wage gap is vividly observed in tipped workers.
The federal tipped minimum wage, which hasn t been changed since 1991, only pays workers
$2.13 per hour. According to the Economic Policy Institute, women make up two thirds of tipped
workers and are 70 percent of food servers and bartenders, occupations that comprise more than
half of the tipped workforce. Tipped workers have a higher poverty rate than non tipped workers,
and 46 percent rely on government assistance to make ends meet.
As women account for two thirds of tipped workers, raising tipped minimum wage will help

Understanding The Reading Strategy Of Cause And Effect

Business Law 100
Question (a) Identify the principle of law The principles of law relevant to this question are the
doctrines of intention and consideration. Explain the rules of law The doctrine of intention is an
undertaking by both sides of an agreement to be legally bound either by an informal agreement
such as verbal intention to purchase or act, or a written document stating intention to purchase or
act, which could be in the form of a letter or a written statement as compared to a formal agreement
where a deed is prepared stating the intention of the contract which is signed and witnessed by
independent third parties and, although not necessary, sealed with a company or personal seal. In a
commercial agreement the intention to be legally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore the object of equal exchange is not necessary. In bilateral contracts when two parties
promise to provide consideration to each other the contract becomes valid immediately the
parties exchange promises as the promise to each other is deemed sufficient consideration.
Apply the law to the facts The points of discussion are to consider whether the elements of
intention and consideration have been met to enforce a contract. The intention of both Jamie
and Gina to act is made clear when Gina calls for tenders to build accommodation facilities at her
mine site and Jamie submits a tender, this in itself is not sufficient enough to form a contract as
no promises of exchange have been agreed to or accepted. At this point Jamie has made an offer
to Gina indicating his intention in exchange for a consideration of money and Gina has
indicated her intention, in exchange for goods and services. Gina decides to accept Jamie s
tender and in doing so sends a formal document in the form of a letter to Jamie, stating the terms
and conditions of her acceptance. It is at this point that Gina has accepted Jamie s tender and the
terms of intention and consideration to form a contract have been met by Gina and now relies on
Jamie being able to meet the terms of the contract and giving a formal reply to Gina to complete
the contract. Jamie is going to accept Gina s terms and conditions and does so by

Facing a difficult challenge for caregivers of young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

Programs emphasizing usage of structured settings, tight stimulus control, and adult directed
instruction are labeled as current evidence that supports the early educational interventions which is

Testing the effect of every possible combination of evidence based interventions and every possible
factor that might be related to outcomes is logistically unfeasible. Therefore, a research program
informed by theory driven hypotheses is crucial for facilitating a rational use of research resources
in these areas (Vivanti, 2017, p.114 115). The ASD is an early intervention field due to having a
relevant obstacle in the research agenda at a pre paradigmatic stage (Kuhn, 1962) which is a stage
where practices are informed by competing meta theoretical orientations (e.g., behavioral theory,
cognitive theory, and developmental theory) operate in consonance with disparate vocabularies and
criteria used for appraising evidence (Ingersoll, 2010; Smith, 2014). Different treatments of
individualization and combination have to generate testable prognosis, current frameworks of pre
paradigmatic should be developed into full fledged scientific theories which utilize parameters and
constraints to formulate treatment targets and therapeutic change of hypothesized nature. In this

four sets of explicit terms of explanatory/predictive statements which are (1) logical coherence, (2)

Daddy By Sylvia Plath Essay
Daddy by Sylvia Plath is a confessional poem about a daughter s hatred and anger because she
felt oppressed by her father for thirty years. Confessional poetry focuses on the inner
expressions of conflict and emotion through the use of detail in the poet s life. Plath was nine
when her father passed away and she was too young to get to know her father. Her father passed
away because of a wound he received on his toe and since he was diabetic the wound eventually
got infected and killed him. The young daughter prays for her father in the hopes of getting him
back, however when he passes away she feels angered that her daddyis gone. Plath expresses a

Plath portrays herself as the victim and her father as the perpetrator. Plath uses imagery and an
allusion to reference her father as a Nazi. Her father has a neat mustache which is a reference to
Hitler s mustache. Plath s father had the bright blue Aryan eyes (Plath, 41) which referred to the
perfect breed that Hitler created. The daughter victimizes herself as a Jew and her father as a
Nazi since she feared to even talk to him just like the Jews feared the Nazi s. She perceived her
father as extremely controlling and even considers him a panzer man which is a German soldier
who was regarded as a killing machine. Comparing her father as a Nazi is a symbolic
relationship between and oppressor and someone who is oppressed. Plath reference s herself as
talking like a Jew which widens the barriers that separate her father from her because they now
speak different languages and lack communication. She is angered that she wasn t able to have a

Why Israel Matters Case Study Three Christian groups have collaborated to launch a 13 part original series titled Why Israel Matters, which aims to show how important the Jewish state is to America, Christians, and the rest of the world. In a press release late last month, grassroots organization Liberty Counsel announced its partnership with Christians in Defense of Israel (CIDI) and Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) in the launching of Why Israel Matters on Feb. 28. TBN chairman Matt Crouch said their network has been a staunch supporter of Israel because they believe that the people who bless the Jewish state will also be blessed. The story opens in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of France. The story moves throughout France largely in Paris. Zurich, Switzerland is also a major setting. New York City and Washington, D.C. also play lesser but important roles. The story ends in the upper west side of Manhattan in New York City. The Bourne Identity co stars Chris Cooper, Clive Owen, Brian Cox, and Julia Stiles. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi III. Effectiveness/ Success of the Adaptation: It would be futile to compare this movie with the book, as the movie ignores most of the plot in the book, only keeping the element of an amnesiac agent. Although they share a name, The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum and its movie adaptation have very little to nothing in common. (see Fig 1.0) Compared side by side, the movie will hardly cover the first 3 chapters of the book. The book describes a man who is found shot in the ocean without his memory. He is saved by a couple of men and taken to a doctor on land who helps him regain his strength and begin to remember his past. The man travels to Zurich because of a negative found implanted in his body that leads to a bank. There, he is ambushed by enemies he knows not, and with the help of an unwilling woman named Marie St. Jacques he escapes. The man, whose name is discovered to be Jason Bourne, and Marie fall in love and end up in Paris. Variances between movie and book In the Book In the Movie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis of Test Results Analysis of Test Results Problems with guessing the compaction curve from the Family of Curves Out in the field, some testers interpolate a compaction curve to represent the material using the Alberta Family of Curves. One of the goals of this applied research, was to test the accuracy of this method. It was concluded that the only true way to verify the legimitacy of this curve is by doing index testing such as atterberg limits and grain size analysis on the soil. The City of Edmonton does require the testing firm to do a standard proctor and atterberg limits on each soil type on a project. A true maximum dry density and optimum moisture content can be obtained only by doing a standard proctor in the lab. Furthermore, the liquid limit and plastic limit values can give the tester a better idea on how much moisture variance is acceptable for the material. In case the Alberta Family of curves must be used to quickly obtain a compaction curve in the field, having a classification of the soil using atterberg limits and grain size analysis will provide the tester with backup information to interpolate a more reliable compaction curve. Does 100% of a one point proctor equal 98% of a standard proctor? According to the City of Edmonton, 100% compaction achieved relative to a one point proctor is as good as 98% compaction achieved relative to a standard proctor. From the test results conducted in this research, it was concluded that this comparison is incorrect. This is explained in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Key Role Of The Commercial Rating Agencies The pivotal role that the three large US credit rating agencies Moody s, Standard Poor s (S P) and Fitch played in the recent subprime mortgage lending and the following financial crisis has led to extended regulation of these agencies and requires significantly more regulation. Credit rating agencies and the ratings they supply are critical information resource for investors. An error in the credit rating process has a huge impact on buyers and sellers of credit. It also affects the overall performance of the financial markets. Oligopoly of the credit rating agencies The rating industry is known as an oligopoly, because there are only three significant credit agencies in the US Moody s, Standard Poor s (S P) and Fitch. In an industry run by oligopoly, perfect competition does not exist. Because each company has a large market share, they are said to have market power, a situation where one or more of the participants is able to set the price or other outcomes in some general or specialized market. The oligopolists have the ability to dictate the market. In oligopolistic market one company may fear that if the other company rises price, rivals will refuse to reciprocate and will take a substantial amount of its customers, leading to the firm s large drop in sales. Since the transactors in bond markets are mostly institutional bond managers, financial institutions should have the ability to receive the bond creditworthiness information from a broader range of ... • 6. Living A Happy And Simple Life Do you think it is possible to live a happy and simple life? It is more than certainly possible to live a life of bliss, even in a world with today s chaotic means. You do not need to be rich in order to live a luxurious life, you could be the poorest person in the world but also the happiest. Social media is also a very big aspect for humanity when it comes to happiness. As stated in the introduction, you can be the poorest person in the world, yet happier than the richest person. A statement from a very well known commercial and advertisement company Charmin Ultra, less is more, is a very great statement to be used in this aspect, because a person that is considered in today s society to be average or mediocre in life, to have less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some may say that money is what true happiness is all about, money buys happiness, and without riches, you are nothing and have no reasons to be happy, nor exist. If one has all the best things in life, it will make them happy, for it has no reason to do otherwise. Social networking is mandatory because without it you are left in the dark about what is going on in the world and one s happiness has nothing to do with people s use of social media. However, those who say money buys happiness must be one of two things; liers or blind to the fact that you can have true happiness with no money at all. According to Bruno, Living simple is not easy because it requires lots of patience and dedication. First you would need to make a game plan and know you want in life, what you need, and what you can live without. It is interesting to find out all the things you can live without that you once thought you needed to survive. Planning is the key to having a happy and simple life (2017). Social Media is more than definitely an indication for one s happiness because as stated early, there are many events that occur where someone gets bullied and begins having suicidal thoughts or get depressed from all the negative situations shown on the Internet which allows no room for happiness. Sometimes it is better to not know what is going on in life, if it has no personal affect on you, their should be no reason for you to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theories Of Conspiracy Theories According to the Oxford Dictionary a conspiracy is: A secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful and The action of plotting or conspiring Cambridge Dictionary seems to take similar approach; it says that a conspiracy is: the activity of secretly planning with other people to do something bad or illegal. Based on these two definitions we can draw up a theory that a conspiracy theories are stories or plots of sinister and illegal events or deeds committed by evil people (sort of villains) to harm the humanity. Slightly different approach to conspiracy can be found in the Rough Guide to Conspiracy Theories by James McConnachie and Robin Tuge. They write that: To conspire once meant to breath together . They think that the knowledge of a true nature of a certain event is hidden from the society and they look for the most possible (or improbable) explanation. Jessie Walker, a writer interested in conspiracy topic, has created five basic kinds of conspiracy theories: The Enemy Outside a group of villains scheming outside community to harm it. The Enemy Within conspirators mixed with ordinary people, undistinguishable from them. The Enemy Above people in power that are manipulating law and the system for their own good. The Enemy Below people of lower classes conspiring to overturn the social order. The Benevolent Conspiracies a group or forces that work secretly to improve the world and help ... A Formal Analysis of Death Mask Based on Gold Death Mask from Mycenae, Grave Circle A, Shaft Grave IV circa 1550 BC The Greek Exhibition section of The Royal Ontario Museum houses this replica, one made by an unknown artist, of an original, gold funeral mask said to be a depiction of the face of the Mycenaean King, Agamemnon. Known widely as the Death Mask of Agamemnon, the original artefact dates to 1550 BC, which corresponds with the Greek Bronze Age when metals were being worked due to technological advancements in various urban societies of the world. It is a marvel of craftsmanship as much as of cultural and technological prowess of that age since the original was made from a single sheet of almost pure gold. Discovered in a burial site labelled Grave Circle A, shaft Grave IV on the citadel of Mycenae by an archaeologist named Henrich Schliemann (1876), the original mask has been claimed to belong to the grave of King Agamemnon of Mycenae. This claim has since been questioned for it verity since the grave was likely dug as much as three centuries before Agamemnon is thought to have lived and ruled. Nevertheless, the death mask has an aura of romance and mystery about it since it reveals so much about the cultural and social practices of the civilization of Mycenae, who like other ancients such as the Egyptians made funerary masks for their powerful and wealthy dead. Even when Frank s father was working, he would very often drink his paycheck instead of bringing it home to his family. Frank remembers a time when his father did bring home his paycheck, and took notice at how proud his mother was when she was finally able to pay the man for her groceries. She was able to hold her head up again because there s nothing worse in the world than to owe and be beholden to anyone (23). This is where Frank learns that the ability to pay brings dignity and self respect. He draws a connection, that when he has food, his family is prospering. Later on in life, when Frank begins to earn his own wages, he loves the feeling of independence, and dreams of providing for a family of his own. He works for Mr. Hannon, delivering coal, and makes many of the other boys jealous of him. He doesn t mind when the boys harass him though, because he has the job and Mr. Hannon tells him he s powerful (264). Frank connects having a job with being powerful. • 12. Standardized Testing Argumentative Essay Standardized tests, the monster all students have to face. These important tests are known to cause high amounts of stress on not only students, but also teachers, causing them to teach to the test. This, and the stress, can negatively affect a student s potential to learn as much as they possibly can. Studies have proven that standardized tests also are not reliable for many reasons. One reason being, standardized tests do not even accurately measure how much an individual student has learned. So, why do standardized tests even exist? The earliest form of standardized tests were used to measure the knowledge, of people wanting government jobs, on philosophy and poetry. Another early form of standardized tests, were essays. The more modern version of standardized tests started in the 1800 s when school had become more of an option over working, to get children out of dangerous workplaces like factories. The tests these students took are similar to modern ones, where everyone in the same grade gets the same exact test. The reason for standardized tests back then, were to easily and quickly, evaluate how much the students had learned. Now that we have more efficient ways of evaluating how much a student has learned, why do we still use this method of testing? There are two common ways a standardized test is taken. From the hate lyrics of Gun s N Roses to the satanic lyrics of Montley Crue and Marilyn Manson to the sexually explicit graphical content of today s movies, the issue is how much society is going to permit and where we, as a society, should we draw the line. The freedom of speech has always been considered a right, but that doesn t mean that you can shout, Fire! in a crowded movie theater. While some people feel that government officials are the best way to restrict offensive messages, others feel that self censorship is a more effective method. A recent series of incidents suggests that executives in many private firms have begun doing just that. Book publishers, TV stations, and others have drawn the line when faced with words or images that are tasteless or offensive. For example, in 1990, Andy Rooney, a CBS news correspondent, was suspended for his racist remark, Blacks have watered down their genes because the less intelligent ones... have the most children. Another episode of self imposed censorship is when George Michael released his song I Want Your Sex. In 1987, AIDS and other sexual diseases were rampantly spreading and his song condoned casual sex. The MTV executives also sent the video for this song back because of the explicit, sexual images. A third incident happened when MTV drew the line again, this time with Madonna s video for Justify My Love. They said that the video illustrates Madonna s erotic fantasies. It was said to be too hot to handle. The advocates of the second solution agree that America is suffering from a deluge of offensive messages, but they feel that the best way of dealing with the problem is not government censorship, but private sector censorship. • 18. The Benefits Of Breast Feeding The Benefits of Breast Feeding Since the invention of formula mothers have had trouble deciding how best to go about feeding their children. Each mother has their own preferred feeding technique, some of whom chose to use both feeding methods depending on the situation. For some mothers breast feeding is not a viable option for reasons such as lactationissues, busy schedules, and secondary care givers (Health Psychology). For those mothers whom are able and willing to breast feed their infants there is a definite benefit. Breast feeding is shown to benefit the mother and child through its natural ability to aide in the mother s inner peace, its health giving properties, its superior nutrient content compared to formula, and accessibility. Though breast feeding is undoubtedly the optimum feeding method, it is not necessarily a possibility for some mothers (The Nemours Foundation). For example couples who choose to adopt children are obviously not able to breast feed their child because the mother is not lactating. Other mothers just simply do not have the time to breast feed their children because they are busy running errands (Health Psychology). Another reason some mothers do not breast feed is that they are using a baby sitter so they need the baby sitter to have some way to feed the child (Health Psychology). The reasons behind bottle feeding are definitely sound but they only prove that bottle feeding is an alternative method, not a replacement for breast ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Leonard Nimoy stated in his role as Spock in the movie, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few . This is the cruel truth that be seen everywhere, but many people tend to ignore it since it is such a dreary thought. Many people, especially those in third world countries, are exploited every day. Large corporate companies come to typically poorer foreign nations, where there is a large gap between the rich and poor, to find cheaper workers. Many people in these foreigners tend to be desperate for money and immediately sign up for these jobs. Typical corporations would hire these people and make them work in inhumane working conditions such as long hours, less pay, and give no sanitation facilities. Although this happens on an everyday basis, there are very few people out there who challenge the large corporations. This example can also apply to medical ethics, sometimes a small amount of people have to suffer through experiments to help the general public. Although this is a morbid thought, it has been used in the past. During the mid twentieth century, many American scientist believe that experimenting on a few people and making them suffer would create results that would be very beneficial to the general public. Now the biggest difference between traditional manufacturing and 3D printing will be the emergence of mass customization. Creativity in meeting individuals needs will come to the fore, just as quality control did in the age of rolling out sameness (D Aveni). After the constitution was ratified, some legislation quickly followed suit, including the electoral system, a law of autonomies, and a law establishing the parameters of communitarian justice in indigenous areas (Crabtree and Chaplin 2013:25). Regarding the economical standpoint, while the average income has soared, the Morales administration has not been able to radically change the economy; rather it has followed a neo extractivist model due to the lingering reliance on gas and other resources. Although this means a larger role for the state, it also means that Bolivia is even more dependent on its natural resources (Farthing and Kohl 2014:79). With so much of the country s earnings coming from natural resources, this puts a strain on a left wing country that is trying to move away from such capitalist influences. According to WTO, zeroing is a calculation method that ignores negative margin of dumping. To know more, see appendix 1 on how it s calculated. As a result, it causes an unfair increase of dumping liability of exporter (WTO, n.d.). Therefore, Thailand brought this case to WTO, and this case is very similar to the Ecuador s case which has been judged before as unfair. My perspective From the previous result, I quite agree with the decision made by the panel that imposing tariff calculated by using zeroing method, as a reason of antidumping, is unfair because of the following reasons. According to Article VI of GATT, during the Uruguay Round, antidumping means charging extra import duty on a product in order to bring its price closer to the fair value or to help domestic industries from injury. Also, you need to calculate the extent of dumping, investigate the impact to importing countries, and look into all economic factors that could affect before you can impose tariff (definition, n.d.). According to Free Trade Organization, Dan Ikenson, policy analyst, claims Few trade policies engender more bitterness and international ill will than the U.S. antidumping law. For many years, that law has been the weapon of choice among domestic producers seeking to quell import competition. • 37. Example Of Social Comparison Social Comparison Festinger s (1954) seminal paper explained how self concept is obtained and maintained using social comparisons. Several researchers such as Marsh Hau (2003) and Marsh Parker (1984), have also supported Festinger s (1954) studies by stating that social comparison is used to develop a self concept. Corcoran, Crusius Mussweiler (2011) also emphasised the importance of comparisons, stating that comparisons between the self and others are a fundamental psychological mechanism influencing people s judgments, experiences, and behavior (p.119). Humans have a drive to have an accurate appraisal of their abilities, and social comparison provides an efficient way to obtain information about our abilities. (Corcoran, Crusius Mussweiler, 2011; Festinger, 1954) For unambiguous tasks, (ex: running), objective reality is used. Example for running, time is compared. For ambiguous tasks subjective reality is used, even though subjective comparisons are unstable and prone to error. Subjective reality describes how others see you performed the task. When an objective evaluation is available, no comparison will be done. Hence, only if an objective evaluation is unavailable, is a subjective one used. For instance, for opinions and judgements, ... In the field of education, men tends to go more to STEM than women and that also leads to high paying jobs for men. If we raise the minimum wage, this will help hardworking women to support their families. Approximately, women made up two thirds of all minimum wageworkers in 2012. With the current federal minimum wagei.e. $7.25 per hour, someone working full time, only earn $15,080 a year round. People working full time with minimum wage is still below the povertythreshold for any family with children and single person is also not far above the poverty line.
