Sample Testing Is Mandatory Against A Static Groundwater...
Statistical methods can be useful in compliance assessment and corrective action monitoring, where
single sample testing is mandatory against a static groundwater protection standard. These criteria
health and also those derived from related as a fixed standard. The primary tool for monitoring is
the confidence interval. Numerous ranges of confidence intervals, including confidence intervals
around means, medians. The goal is on planning tests with reasonable statistical performance in
terms of per test false positive rates.
Confidence interval are designed to estimate statistical characteristics of some parameter of sampled
population. Given a statistical parameter of interest such as the population mean (Вµ), the lower and
upper limits of a confidence interval define the most probable concentration range in which the true
parameter should be.
Like any estimate, the true parameter many not be located within the confidence interval. The
frequency with which this error tends to occur is denoted О±, while its complement (1 О±) is
known as the confidence level. The confidence level represents the percentage of cases where a
confidence interval constructed according to a fixed algorithm or equation will actually contain its
intended target, e.g., the population mean.
A point worth clarifying is the distinction between О± as the complement of the confidence level
when constructing a confidence interval and the significance level (О±) used in hypothesis testing.

The Role Of Voting In The UK
Some European friend asked me how I am going to vote in the UK EU referendum. That is a
question not only the majority of people in the UK and Europe is asking and contemplating,
whether to be in, or to be out of the EU. I told my European friends I really don t know how I am
going to vote. I haven t yet made up my mind. The politicians don t know what will happen, and
if the people in the UK vote leave the EU neither are they able to predict the outcome. This
referendum has split political parties, and has brought political enemies to join forces. One side
says vote to stay in, and the other side says, vote to get out. Both sides are spreading fear and
scaring people. They keep repeating and spinning the same panic about what might or might not
happen.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dorian Gray
The Picture of Dorian Gray If it were I who was to be young, and the picture that was to grow old!
For that for that I would give everything! Yes, there is nothing in the whole world I would not give!
I would give my soul for that! (p. 32, The Picture of Dorian Gray) After countless hours of
meticulously replicating the handsome man on the pedestal with delicate brushstrokes, Basil
Hallward completes yet another exceptional portrait. Dorian Gray s first glance at the masterpiece
leaves him vacant and speechless. The disheartened painter interprets this silence to be
disappointment, but in actuality, Dorian s mind is flourishing with sinister thoughts of envy and
detestation toward the everlasting youth the painting possesses. As the... Show more content on

His desires are slowly starting to make themselves known and we are able to watch how they
transform him into a monster. His premature realization that his beauty and youth will vanish is the
flashpoint that sparks his worry about what he should do in order to preserve it. The impending
doom of his mortality alters his character and his desperation is accompanied with anxiety. Dorian s
impulsive nature causes him to make a wish that is lacking in thought and realization of the
consequences that may result from it. The thought of eternal youth drives the young man mad and
the fact that he is unable to have it frustrates him to the extent that he is willing to give everything
he has, including his soul. This wish combined with the lengths he is willing to go to make it come
true foreshadow the deadly consequences that may result because of it. This quote speaks to me
because it gives insight into the heart of Dorian Gray and it reveals his true intentions. It unearths
the fact that Dorian Gray is more than an intelligent man with exceptional looks, but a narcissistic
and egoistic character with the desire for eternal youth who will take drastic measures to attain

Voltaire and The Enlightenment
The eighteenth century was a crucial changing point in the European history because of The
Enlightenment. The Enlightenment was revolutionary because of Voltaire, a writer that used his
ideas to attack the established Catholic Church, and to propagate the freedom of religion, scientific
thoughts, skepticism and experiential philosophy.
Voltairewas born in 1694, a year that was under the regiment of Louis XIV. At that time, the
aristocracy ruled France in an extreme way that most commoners were struggling in poverty. From
a middle class family, Voltaire did not like the political environment of France and the aristocratic
system. As a well educated and intelligent student from the college of Louis le Grand, he became a
secretary for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By this storyline, Voltaire wanted to tell the French aristocracy that they did not have any heritage.
Once they were expelled from their current positions, they needed to live as commoners, or maybe
suffered more because they had never done anything in the castle.
Even though Candide was expelled, he was still very happy because he always believed in
optimistic philosophy. He learnt the philosophy from his teacher, Panloss, a parody of the
contemporary philosophers in the seventeenth century that always argued about the metaphysics,
which had no use in the real world. Also, the optimism was a satire from the philosophy of
Leibniz, a popular philosopher around that time. The optimism was widely used in the Christian
churches to tell people that life was always full of happiness because the perfect God created the
world. Human beings suffered in the world because they did not see the greater purpose from God.
The sufferings were only trials and in the end the human being would still deserve ultimate
happiness. After the Lisbon s earthquake, which killed more than 30,000 people, many of who died
because they were just praying to the God without actually doing anything, Voltaire was very angry
about the situation that the priests in the church did not help people, but led them to sit in the
church and pray. Therefore, he wanted to attack this philosophy, so in Candide he described the

Effectiveness Of Successful Resilience Programs For Nurses
Shortcomings in the Literature
Although CF and resilience are relatively new areas of research, there are several studies that cite
their importance and benefit to combatting illness, nursing and patient quality of life, and retention
rates. As mentioned previously, CF adversely affects both nursing retention rates, as well as patient
outcomes. Hart, Brannan, and Chesnay felt a majority of factors in patient dissatisfaction were the
same factors that increased stress in nurses; thus, patient and nurse quality of life are inseparably
tied together. Preliminary studies show that resilience strengthening classes for nurses significantly
alleviates CF rates. However, no studies to date try to link these classes for nurses with patient
outcomes. Patients who have more resilience have better outcomes, especially long term and with
regard to their families. Research should be done to examine whether successful resilience
programs for nurses also affect both patient outcomes and patient resilience levels. If these are
significantly benefited by resilience programs, then resilience programs for nurses will have a
greater reputation among healthcare organizations. If both nursing and patient outcomes are
benefited, the cost effectiveness and necessity of these programs will be realized, as well as
advancement in healthcare efficacy.

worried about the well being of these producers, we need to directly address the imbalances in the
trading process and increase the producer s benefit in fair trade. To do so these producer coops
need to gain a part of the ownership in companies that sell their products in the north consuming
markets. According the Jaffee, through his research and findings, when helping the fair tradecoffee
bean producers it untimely comes down to the long term goal of these companies, if it is to
simply increase their market and gain consumers or to actually transform the international fair
trade market. An example of the northern power Jaffee gave was in a case where they pushed
the mass production of a low grade level of coffee but ended up failing against the organic fair
trade coffee beans, which lead to the farmers of these low grade coffees out of the field and into
dire poverty. They were pushed to produce this coffee with not input of their own and it ended up

American History Chapter 1 Summary
James W. Loewen dedicated his book to all American history teachers who teach against their
textbooks, but it s a read for Students who have taken a course in American History. Intended to
expose the lies teachers and textbooks have taught students about American History, Loewen talks
about what most students do know versus what is the real truth. It lets students know how
textbooks leaves out info, which in turn downplays many events in history. This is why students
think history is boring, it is filled with facts instead of the truth, which would keep students
interested and emotionally invested. Textbooks in schools ideally cover up the truth of history and

textbooks do anything to shield what America did to others. When learning about the Vietnam War
it was always very brief, so students never seen the harsh things that happened. Loewen thinks that
the Vietnam War is overshadowed by the War of 1812 because it is still a recent event and causes
controversy and tension. Usually textbooks only show images of planes bombing Vietnam instead
of the real impact and damage that was done. In Vietnam the United Statesdropped three times as
many explosives as it dropped in all theaters of World War 2, even including our nuclear bombing
of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, so textbook authors had many images of bomb damage to choose

NFL Leadership Case Study
The league had a culture that looked the other way when it came to players improprieties. There
was history of giving personal conduct violators a mere slap on wrist. According to the San
Diego Union Tribune, of the 32 teams that make up the NFL, 21 employed players who had
domestic or sexual violence charges last year. Since 200, more than 700 NFL players found
themselves arrested. The NFL s responses were either a brief suspension or no suspension at all.
Those players who the NFL released from contracts were benchwarmers who most likely had no
impact on the team winning. The ostrich manager syndrome was present. The league did not accept

Beau Buckley (2001) argue that when there is a lack of accountability in an organization s
leadership, there is an antecedent of unethical behavior within the organization (as cited in
Hoogervorst De Cremer, 2010). The Ivey Business Journal states Without Accountability leaders
don t commit to, or own, the decisions they make, and cannot get others to do so. They blame
others for poor outcomes and in doing so create a culture of fear and disengagement. People stop
caring, with potentially disastrous consequences (Crossan Seijts, 2012). Initially the league
offered no solutions that caused a loss of credibility. Following the arrest of Ray Rice, the
Baltimore Ravens team owner stated I ve been on record of saying my definition of character is
repeating offenses. If we re all one strike and you re out, then we re all in trouble. It s how you
respond to adversity. (Mink, 2014) . It was not until a video emerged that the NFL decided to
mandate discipline, albeit weak discipline. The league suspended Rice for two games. After public
outcry, the league went in the opposite direction. This showed inconsistency in leadership, which
can cause inconsistencies in team members. If leaders are consistent in what they pay attention to,
measure, and control, employees receive clear signals about what is important in the organization.

The Radical Nature of Social Contract Theorists Essay
Man is increasingly intrigued by human nature and how society functions. Because of this interest,
there is a plethora of concepts surrounding man and his condition. The social contract, an agreement
among individuals where individuals must sacrifice something for protection, is a cornerstone in
the operation of society. Over the years, various social contract theorists have worked to understand
the ties that bind man. Karl Marx, Charles Darwin, and Friedrich Nietzsche, each felt constrained by
their times, and because of this introduced radical concepts surrounding the social contract. Each of
the philosophers revolutionary concepts challenges power and even though their arguments differ
dramatically Nietzsche can be viewed as the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Marx s view of capitalism, every company works to make a profit, because without
profit there is no reason to exist. He said that labor is a commodity that carries an exchange
value to be traded for something else, but questioned how profit is made if commodities
exchange in equilibrium. His answer was that profit is made when workers are exploited, or
work part of the time without pay. Marx believed that if there were no workers there would be
no profit and ultimately no capitalism. The issue is that human suffering, however, is good for
business according to Marx. People are born into a preexisting system, because the economy
forces people into social relations and roles, and because of this, workers truly felt that they
would never become free from the capitalist class unless they had the ability to produce a living.
Marx found this to be unjust and felt there should be a redistribution of wealth. Marx s attack on
capitalism, however, angered the bourgeois ruling class greatly, and his ideologies caused uproar.
Marx was accused of overthrowing private property and capitalism, and leading the proletariat to
rebel. He is noted to have caused working class upheavals and political revolution. Karl Marx s
work was a disturbance to society, which is why he

The Notebook
The movie The Notebook, directed by Nick Cassavetes and released on June 5th 2004, is a
captivating love story, which takes place in the 1940 s. Through filmatic elements such as
Cassavetes choices of cinematography, editing, narrative, mise en scene, sound and music, he
creates an extremely believable story of two teenagers in the 1940 s who fell in love over the time
span of one summer. In order to create a 1940 s vibe, Cassavetes wisely uses a specific choice of
costumes, makeup and scenery to portray exactly the time period he wanted to. The main
character Allie, played by Rachel McAdams, is a free spirited 17 year old who in the beginning of
the movie is seen wearing a variety of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Music also plays a key role in reminding the audience that this movie took place in the past.
The sound used in this movie serves a large purpose. There are many scenes when Cassavetes
allows everything else to be silent and the object of focus to be the loudest in order for the
audience to truly concentrate on its meaning. Going back to the scene when Allie and Noah
dance in the street together, Cassavetes purposely makes them dance without actual music
initially and has Noah hum the tune he wishes to slow dance to, while all else is silent. The
reasoning for this is to further contribute towards Cassavetes attempts to get the audience to fall
in love with the two teenager s relationship. Dancing without music in the middle of the street
shows that the couple can have a great time with nothing else but their love and it also portrays
their free spirit and fun personalities. Another time when sound serves a specific purpose is
when Noah takes Allie to an abandoned house that he promises he will fix up when he gets older
so they can live together in it. A dusty piano in the corner intrigues Allie and she begins to play
one of her favorite slow tunes. All else is completely silent in the room as Cassavetes forces the
audience to focus on the tune she is playing, for it serves a purpose later on in the movie. When
the scenes switch back and forth between the story of Noah and Allie, and an old man narrating this
story to an old woman

Essay on Graffiti as an Artform
Graffiti as an Artform The value of any message or work of art, whether it is hanging on the wall
of a gallery or a subway, lies on the intensity of the artist s or vandal s beliefs. Graffiti is an
uncertain issue in respect to its virtue. While the voice of the individual must never be lost in a
society of shouts growing larger and louder every second; graffitiis such a public medium that its
integrity must be of great concern. Graffiti is a vast wasteland of indefinite opinions. Foremost
graffiti is illegal and a form of vandalism, it invades peoples privacy and destroys their property.
However, graffiti can be a means by which one may permanently express one s self. It has the
potential to convey a powerful, relevant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even legitimate complaints about the behavior of some individuals should not be expressed in this
manner, they are to be judged within the walls of a courtroom not on the walls of a bathroom.
Another reason why people engage in graffiti is to shape their identities. They wish to leave a
mark in a permanent environment exclaiming to the rest of the world that they exist, that even
though their voices may be lost before politicians, parent, and peers they are real and the
spraypaint is proof of this. This form of graffiti is easily passed off as mere vandalism and
considered an annoyance to our society but when viewed with more compassion, it becomes
clearer how important of an outlet this form of graffiti is. Especially for today s youth (a
generation that often feels insignificant) it is psychologically important for them to have solid,
material evidence of their own existence. Correlated with identity based graffiti is another type
called tagging. Tagging refers to types of graffiti that range from stylized signature [tags] to mural
size [pieces] that elaborately blend fanciful script, cartoon characters and messages with the artist s
street name (Beaty 43). This is a questionable form of expression for it does not actually exhibit a
need for acknowledgment but rather a recreational engagement, an act of boldly testing the
boundaries of the law in

Essay on Border Gateway Protocol
The protocol I chose to write about is the Border Gateway Protocol because it is the main protocol
used to operate the internet and recommended protocol for Cisco design certifications. The BGP
protocol is an inter autonomous protocol; which means it is for connecting separate large networks,
such as a college network to a corporate network or the internet. Due to the large number of routes
and connection this protocol must manage; it uses very many features, or attributes, to achieve this.
Cisco defines these attributes as weight, local preference, multi exit discriminator, origin, AS_path,
next hop, and community. These attributes are used to discover networks and determine the best
path to use for sending packets to those networks.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first attribute we will look at is called the weight attribute. This is a Cisco proprietary attribute,
so it is not found with other vendors. This attribute simply assigns a weight value to any know
routes on an individual router. This value is not passed on to any other routers. Each router can
have its own independent weight values for any known routes. If two separate routes to the
same network are known, the one that has the highest assigned weight value will be the
preferred route. The local preference attribute is used to determine the best exit point for an
autonomous system (AS). This value is shared by all the routers in the AS to select the best
interfaces and routers for reaching known networks. Each known network may exit on any router
in the AS, or all on one router in the AS. The route is determined by which router has the highest
local preference number for a given network. The multi exit discriminator attribute is kind of the
opposite of the local preference. This attribute is sent to a connected AS that is running BGP to
suggest the best route in the AS advertising the MED. This is just a suggestion, as the receiving
AS can determine its own path by other means. The origin attribute is just that, a way for a router
to know how it learned of a path to a network. There are three different ways to learn about a path;
IGP, EGP, and incomplete. The first is internal

disappointed while the newly initiated would find the facts quite easy to grasp. However, what
really impressed me was the slightly philosophical and emotional quota in the book.
The author intelligently introduces plot twists to explore the question of how would an android

Conflict in the Emerald Isle Essay
Conflict in the Emerald Isle
The island of Ireland is known for many things: St. Patrick s Day, its green landscape, music, beer,
and discord. The heart of this conflict began centuries ago, when Britain came over and forced
Protestantism on the Irish Catholic inhabitants. There has always been hatred between the Irish
Protestants and Catholics. The island is broken up into to distinct regions. The Republic of Ireland
consists of 26 counties, which make up the southern region. This area is predominantly Roman
Catholic. Northern Ireland is made up of the 6 northern counties, which are under British rule. This
area is predominately Protestant. The conflict between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland

This upset a majority of the Irish citizens, whom happened to be predominately Catholic, who felt
that they were just that, citizens of Ireland, not subjects of England. They wanted the right to
govern freely without British interference. There were, however, supporters of this act as well.
These Unionists or Loyalists were made up largely of Protestants. They gladly welcomed the power
of the British crown because they felt that they were truly British citizens not Irish citizens.
While under British rule the Catholics were subjected to discriminating laws such as: they were not
allowed to bear arms, hold public office, and were restricted in their right to an education. The laws
have been lifted the tension still remains between the Catholics and the Protestants (Ito 1). There
were still those who were pushing for Home Rule and the Protestants vowed to resist the movement
with violence (Ito 1). However this movement never amounted to much.
In 1920 the Government of Ireland Act separated the island into north and south. In 1921 these
two sections would become known as the Irish Free State, or the Republic of Ireland and Northern
Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is composed of the 26 southern counties of Ireland and controlled
by the parliament of Ireland. The remaining 6 counties in the north of Ireland make up Northern
Ireland, which is controlled by Britain. This was intended to be a compromise between

The term roaring twenties is used by most of the American population referring to the 1920s during
a time of unrelenting economy growth which characterized the distinctive cultural edge of the

prosperity by the recovery from devastating wartime, a boom in the construction sector and
increased growth of the consumer goods like vehicles and electric energy.
The United States economy had successfully shifted from one of wartime to one of peacetime

What set the Cistercian order apart from other monastic...
The speed, extent and tenacity of Cistercian expansion was by all accounts extraordinary, and one
that seemed to differ greatly from the other monastic movements of the twelfth century. Their
growth from one to seven foundations, to more than three hundred in the space of fifty years was
almost entirely unexpected by contemporary standards. However, when one delves into the history
of the order and looks at the factors that differentiated it from other similar monastic institutions of
the same period one begins to see a number of portentous factors that undoubtedly contributed to
such explosive growth.
Perhaps one reason for Cistercian expansion was the Social Catholicity of it s appeal. This was

this, that I feel best describes the intentions of the early Cistercians. It was the aim of the Cistercians
to run counter to the established habits and intellectual developments of western Christendom.
Another feature of the Cistercians that was certainly different to other twelfth century monastic

effective than papal organisation in this period and beyond . Another interesting, and entirely
unique, feature of it s organisation was the independence and freedom of operation it was afforded.
However, it was also something that garnered much jealousy from other monastic institutions of the

Rebecca Film Techniques
When Hitchcock wishes to exemplify a particular trait within his character, or reveal the
personality of a character, he does so with classy elegance. Such emphasis is laid onto few, yet
vital shots, which can reveal a whole lot of information in a few shots. Instead of using a wide
range of methods to convey the same information, why not simplify it, and convey the entire
array of emotions in a single, unique visual. For example; to exemplify the personality traits of a
lady, any other director of the time would have probably used a wide array of shots to convey the
same information. However Hitchcock says a whole lot, without saying much. In his filmRebecca,
the director wants to hint at the shrewdness, or the mean traits within a particular character, and he
achieves this by simply having the lady put out her cigarette, in something cold and delicate such as
cold cream. By showing this visual, the director allows us to understand what type of character this

other films such as The Lodger, framed photographs convey something entirely different. The

that he might quite possibly be the blonde killer everyone is looking for. However we later
realise that his aversion to the blond girls comes from a tragic life event, where he lost his blonde

The fall of the great Aztec Empire led to the demise and destruction of the prized capital,
Tenochtitlan. Through further investigation of the fall of the Aztec Empire, I was able to get a
better understanding to how it all happened. It all started with the arrival of Hernan Cortez and his
army of men in 1519. The great Aztecleader of Montezuma sent a messenger with gifts to warmly
greet the new Spanish people. Cortez accepted the gifts of the Aztec people, but in a way laughed
as to say is this all? Cortez and his men then demonstrated the brute force of their cavalry, horses
and cannons. His cavalry charged along the beach at full tilt with swords flashing and bells tinkling.
If that were not intimidating enough, the big cannon were fired,

Argumentative Essay On Baroque Music
Baroque Music The word Baroque was derived from the word barroco, which is used to mean the
period in which western region widely used music especially in the nineteenth century to express
how the European artist practiced the art. When the historical happenings of the music in well
explored, the critics who applied the musical knowledge made it look strange and majorly sounded
exaggerated. Furthermore, ornamentals were initially used during the era of Bash and Handel.
After the brand of music had shed the connotations that were derogatory, baroques became one of
the mot simplest and convenient in the brand and one of the richest term, which in the diverse
period was included the musical history. Additionally, despite producing the music... Show more

Accordingly, the composers can start imagining about the inspiration the work of music has done as
well as the starting point of the artwork. Throughout the Baroque era, the composers of the music
earned a living through just writing the songs and were fortunate to be included in the payroll thus
perform the religious and political works that they were presented with during the time. The needs
of the institution in which the work was done dictated entirely which type of music that would be
written by the composers. When the Baroque music has been fully used will dictate the way the
history of the music can be perceived by the people and how gently they would be used to
influence the belief of the majority of the people and how important they are to the society.
Characteristics of Baroque Music The dramatic and rhetoric composition of the music gave the
possibilities of generating new interests and the creation of a variety of sounds during the Baroque
period. Some of the major characteristics of the Baroque music were;

Eminent Domain Of Economic Development
According to Bowman and Kearney, economic development is the process by which a community,
state, or nation increases its level of per capita income, high quality jobs, and capital investment
(Bowman Kearney, 2014, p. 370). Throughout our readings, it is presented that economic
development exists because of the gradual decline of our metropolitans. More recently, it s been
explained that economic developmenthas become a local issue that localities are attempting to
resolve due to the stale mate federal government and partly the Great Recession, and doing this with
a deteriorating taxbase in the form of population and jobs which increase the deteriorating
infrastructure.

When asked whether the tax breaks and subsidies actually created jobs, elected officials and
economic development experts couldn t say for sure (Fulton, 2014, p. 171). Stadiums fall in
this realm as well. Owners of the big four (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) have secured nearly $20
billion in taxpayer subsidies for new stadiums (DeMause, 2014, p. 73). In 1984, a study by Robert
Baade on 30 cities with recent stadiums constructed found that 27 had no measurable economic
impact, and in 3 cases, economic activity actually decreased. These findings have been repeated
since then and tell the same story. A study on mega events like Super Bowls, South FL economist,
Phil Porter found no measurable impact on spending which he attributed to the crowding out effect

CASTLEFIELD. HISTORY
Ancoats: the memory traces of an abandoned set of futures
Castlefield: reborn as restored memorials to past industrial prowess
Urban history, as a tool, has drastically changed our understanding of cities over the centuries.
Urban histories possessed an explanatory power far above the intricate workings of one city;
providing larger narratives centered on industrialization or other macro economic developments .
Throughout the past 250 years, the world has seen drastic technological advances, the pivotal point
in the history and growth of the world being the Industrial Revolution. Yet rarely does the average
person realise the impacts of the Industrial Revolution on civilisation.
Cities stand at the center of major civilizations, and their organization and structure compose a vital
part of human history (quote by). Ancoats and Castlefield were vital in the Industrial Revolution,
not just for Manchester, but also for the rest of the world.
Both were formed through social, political and economic events. Their urban history allows us to
pin point the driving forces that made the two areas so important. Cities across generations have left
indelible marks on the physical landscape and by their very centralizing nature played essential
roles in the organization of major civilizations, Today, Ancoats and Castlefield are each undergoing
a complex regeneration, battling with their

Beth Fennelly s Poetry Essay
Beth Ann Fennelly and Tom Franklin read a few of their pieces at a public reading. Beth Fennelly
writes poetry and short stories while her husband Tom read sections of longer fiction pieces. The
two even combined to write a novel that they shared a bit of!
Beth started the readings off alone, reading a few of her poems and short stories. The first poem
that she read was a love poem of sort. It was the story of what would have been if she had met
her husband at an earlier time. Beth is from Chicago, but the story takes place in Tom s home state
of Alabama. I loved the alliteration in a few of the lines. Dumb as dalmatians and plaid pajamas
(although out of context), sounded smooth rolling off the tongue of the speaker. The poem was a
great selection for the reading because it showed the deep bond that the two share.
Beth read several stories that were extremely short. Even shorter than William Carlos WilliamsRed
Wheelbarrow. The stories were less than four lines, some as short as one or two lines. Although
short, the stories were able to convey a lot of emotion. My favorite short poem was called Married

The Wretched Of The Earth Chapter 3 Summary
In Chapter three of The Wretched Of The Earth, Fanon discusses the shortcomings of Nationalism
in regards to building truly liberated, egalitarian, socialist, democratic post colonial societies.
During the fight for liberation from colonial powers, nationalism serves as the organizational tool
behind the movement. It is the sentiment that mobilizes and unites a people in the fight for an
independent, egalitarian future. The leader of a revolution must campaign to raise the national
consciousness of the whole society in order to ingrain in them that national sentiment that leads
them to so fervently participate and make sacrifices for the revolution. During the fight for
liberation in Algiers in the 1950s for example, this leader was the FLN Party. Fanon believes in
nationalism as an organizational form in the struggle for independence. His issue with nationalism
arises in the quest for true... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

bourgeoisie leads to a dependence on former colonial powers. The national bourgeoisie takes over
former colonial businesses but doesn t actually create anything new. The same economic system
persists. The same raw materials are made and shipped to Europe. ], and as the state increasingly
dives into a corrupt state favoring the greedy bourgeoisie, The economic channels of the young

Simulacra And Simulation By Jean Baudrillard
In Jean Baudrillard s text Simulacra and Simulation , Baudrillard argues that repeated simulation
of a depiction over time causes a loss of the original thing that was copied and eventually the
copied thing replaces original; he coined this notion the Simulacra. Baudrillard notes That
eventually in contemporary times, the referent disappears altogether and people come to live in
pure simulations, replications of reality that resemble it in all respects save they are
representations...1 . Such disappearance and replacement of the original is seen in John Ajvide
Lindqvist s gut wrenching novel Let the Right One In in which attempts to simulate the role of a

Repeated use of simulation to replace the original leads to alteration of the original and people
eventually live in a simulation of the real. Baudrillard s description of this transformation from
the Simulation to the Simulacra is heavily observed from the book s deviation of the vampire s
association with religious characteristics and therefore a loss in the characteristics from the
traditional is seen. The transformation of the simulation of an image to the simulacra is
described in the following stages: 1. It is a reflection of a basic reality. 2. It masks and prevents a
basic reality. 3. It masks the absence of a basic reality. 4. It bears no relation to any reality
whatever; it is its own pure simulacrum. 1 The first stage is where a somewhat perfect copy of
the original is made the representation is of the order of sacrament or the original is preserved.
The second stage is where reality is altered, this is the pain where the sign becomes an unfaithful
copy which masks reality. In this stage, signs and images do not reveal reality, but hint at the
existence of a reality. The third stage is where there is a complete disconnect from the real. The
sign pretends to be a faithful copy or the original, they attempt to be passed along as the real.
Finally, in the fourth stage a pure simulacrum is observed the new image or

Trauma, By Daniel Gilbert, And Martha Stout s The Mind s...
Trauma is an inevitable aspect of life and all humans handle it in different ways. Humans have
learned over time to compensate for negative experiences in life through the interactions of the
mind, the body, and the brain. The ways in which they interact are exemplified by the biological
systems highlighted in the essays by Oliver Sacks, Daniel Gilbert, and Martha Stout. In The Minds
Eye, Sacks emphasizes that the trauma of losing one s vision often triggers the system of the mind
s eye to improve perceptionbeyond sight, by means of neural plasticity and language.
Comparatively, Gilbert suggests in his essay Immune to Reality that negative situations in life can

He is implying that many people who lose their vision have described an almost automatic
improvement in their other senses, as well as mental visualization mediated by language. Similarly,
Stout explained throughout her essay that some of her patients faced events that demonstrated a
trauma generated dissociation from the body itself, or more accurately, from those aspects of mind
that inform one of what is going on in the body (Stout 436). Essentially, her patients separated their
minds from their bodies, but this was a subconscious disconnection their minds did not inform them
of what was happening in the process of dissociation. Stout would therefore agree with Sacks that
the improved perception by the mind s eye in blind people must occur subconsciously, much like
how individuals experience divided consciousness outside of their awareness. If the mind s eye
could be controlled, for instance, then humans would presumably have the capacity to drastically
improve their mental visualization even without the loss of vision. However, humans lack the
control to improve the quality of life by using these biological systems because they occur
automatically. People cannot control

Gerard Jones s Violent Media Is Good For Youth
Since the evolution of pop culture in America, the introduction of violent media to young,
impressionable minds has been inevitable. As a child ages, they gradually adjust in response to
their environment. Accessibility to media, or lack thereof, significantly shapes a child s character
no matter the generation they come from. If adolescents are only familiar with rainbows and
sunshine, they will never be able to face the harsh truths of reality. Society teaches kids to fear and
bottle up feelings of violenceand the emotions associated with it, instead of expressing it in a
healthy way. This is ultimately not the way to achieve world peace. Nevertheless, ignorant adults
attempt to shelter youths from this potential outlet without thoroughly understanding its benefits.
American writer, Gerard Jones famous for his comic book and nonfiction writing has developed
a compelling perspective on this topic from his cloistered childhood, exhaustive research, and
parenting role. In his essay, Violent Media Is Good for Kids , Jones proves that exposure to violent
media is necessary to prepare children for the real world.
Usually the youth of the late 1960s a time of empowerment and liberation are thought of as wild
and outgoing, but not Gerard Jones. As a teenager he lived a somber life of submission and
seclusion. Following his parents directives , Jones rejected his genuine emotions and hid under the
façade of a nice boy (Jones 199). That all came crashing down when the frail

Research on How to Market a New Product
Marketing Research The topic for this study would be marketing. I would carry out a research
on how to market a new product in the industry. This research will bring together a worldview,
strategies, and methods of research. 1.Worldviews 1.1 Epistemology vs ontology Epistemology
is a consideration of what constitutes reality while ontology is the science or study of being
(Blaikie 1993). This research adopts constructionism as its epistemology perspective because it
is very consistent with the research nature in terms of its aims and objectives. This is because in
constructivism, this research did not describe the facts just as they actually are as in objectivity
nor did it create something new as it is consistent with subjectivity (Crotty, 2007). This research
was thus built from a serious review and analysis of all the available literature on marketing of
new brands and entry into the market by many scholars. Baike, (1993) describes epistemology as
the theory or science of the methods or grounds of knowledge of reality, the manner in which
what exists can be known . In this research we try to understand the position of my stand in
respect to the theories drawn. 1.2 Positivism vs Interpretivism There is a philosophical position in
relation to the purpose and place of research in general. On the basis of positivism researchers take
a scientific perspective when observing social behavior, with an objective analysis possible
(Travers, 2001). It is important to note that

Organizational and Change Management Models
Models of Organizational Change Introduction The world is experiencing unprecedented changes
in the structure and operation of organizations. This has increased the challenges that confront
organizations. New competition from unexpected places is a huge challenge. So are the cultural
issues that come with a diverse, opinionated, and often far flung workforce. The need for fast
acting, effective, sustained organizational change will continue to increase. In fact, it will
increase even more rapidly than it is now. The flattening of the world through globalization has
sent market forces in new directions. Organizations must react to this increasingly chaotic
market swiftly and effectively. The McKinsey 7 S Model and Lewin s three step model are two
of the most influential models of organizational change in the business world. The McKinsey 7 S
model emphasizes the role of structural factors in organizational change, while Lewin s three step
model is rooted in behavioral factors. Thesis: The McKinsey 7 S model is grounded in
questionable research methods and an excessive focus on structural factors. Lewin s three step
model is more incisive and relevant because it is rooted in principles of human behavior.
Background McKinsey s 7 S Model In the book, In Search of Excellence, Peters and Water
identified eight common features of excellent organizations, which they defined as organizations
which have achieved sustained profitability and innovation. These features were: A

of Fallow is usually diagnosed at birth or infancy and with surgery a child can live a relatively

This obstruction causes a decrease in oxygen perfusion to the lungs also resulting in cyanosis.
Newborns with severe narrowing are cyanotic. A characteristic murmur is usually always present.
Severe pulmonary stenosis causes heart failure. The third defect is Right Ventricular Hypertrophy,
which causes a thicker than normal right ventricle. Right ventricular hypertrophy occurs because
the heart pumping action becomes harder creating an increase in the hearts work load.
Subsequently, this causes a thicker and more muscular heart muscle. This defect causes also causes
a reduction in oxygen flowing to the body. The left side of the heart may be underdeveloped from
increased work load on the right side of the heart. The fourth and last defect involves an overriding
aorta. According to the American Heart Association, this occurs when the artery that carries
oxygenated blood is displaced and arises above both ventricles. Therefore, oxygen poor blood
flows straight into the aorta (Jacobs 9/2012). The major complication with an overriding aorta as
it relates to Tetralogy of Fallow is a deficit in blood flow makes it difficult for oxygenated blood to
reach the lungs to gain oxygen for the body tissues. The normal flow of blood through the heart is
disrupted. Even though, Tetralogy of Fallow is a congenital heart condition with four abnormal

Rousseau’s Second Discourse
The last paragraph of the prelude to the Second Discourse is an impassioned appeal whose scope
transcends the boundaries of time and space alike, calling for readers to pay attention to the history
of man and society that Rousseau is on the verge of putting forth. Beginning with this authorial
intrusion a form of literary apostrophe the essay adopts historical writing as its primary narrative
mode. This method stands in direct contrast with the approach Thomas Hobbestakes in his
Leviathan, in which the Englishman sets out to prove propositions as one might do geometrically,
by preceding from valid arguments and sound premises. Rousseau s rejection of philosophy, at least
as he understands it in the Second Discourse, embodies the emphasis... Show more content on

Most importantly for Rousseau, however, is not necessarily how history lets him see how men
might have been or how history lets him strike a balance between grasping the intricacy of human
history and succeeding fluidly from one thought to another; it is how framing his work in such a
way lets him give the greatest demonstrative proof of the point he makes. The first part of the work
consists in a history of mankind until the institution of the social contract, and it reads easily and
freely, just as man in Rousseau s conception was in those days. The second part of the Second
Discourse, which deals with the critique of the social contract itself, however, reads much more
heavily, as if Rousseau were attempting to give the reader a taste of the gravity the social contract
itself imposes upon man. The opening lines of the second half already launch his scathing attack on
civil society by associating this notion with a man who takes advantage of his fellow men:
The first person who, having enclosed a plot of land, took it into his head to say this is mine and
found people simple enough to believe him, was the true founder of civil society. What crimes,

Once the pencil cores are extruded out of the packing cylinders they are passed through a dye
which allows the lead to take on the shape of a pencil lead. The pencil cores are left to dry in
1800 degree furnaces to ensure all traces of water are out of the lead. While the furnace stiffens
the lead, the wood working area fabricates the pencil shell. First a saw cuts eight grooves in a

Romanticism In Oliver Twist
Introduction:
In mid 19th century England, realistic literature came as a response to the preceding romantic
period. The romantic period was known to emphasize the experiences of the individual and was
regarded as a highly aesthetic period. It was related with the movement of sensibility or
sentimentalism, which stressed the importance of emotions and feelings of sympathy (Kitson 328
329). Contrarily, realism during the Victorian age aimed to address economic and social issues in
society by depicting the struggles in the developing society as accurately as possible (Redd).
Consequently, in the 1830s, when Charles Dickens was writing Oliver Twist, it is justifiable that
elements of both realism and sentimentalism can be found in the novel. This ... Show more content

Most notably, Dickens depiction of London (in particular the workhouses and other social
institutions) and his criminal characters have a very prominent realistic effect. However before
going into detail about the realistic setting and characters, it would be beneficial to take a look
at Dickens preface for Oliver Twist. In his preface for Oliver Twist, Dickens justifies his reasons
for writing about the criminals of London; he had the impression that real thieves and
pickpockets were not portrayed correctly in literature during that time. For that reason, he felt
that it was necessary to show these crooks as they really were, for ever skulking uneasily through
the dirtiest paths of life (7). He also believed that doing this would be a service to society , and
that he did it as best as [he] could . He explains that he won t be writing about appealing and
pleasant situations; ...no merry makings in the snuggest of all possibly caverns, none of the
attractions of dress, no embroidery, no lace... (8). In essence, this preface foreshadows the
realistic elements in the novel by telling the readers where to look. Clearly the characters and

I am a soldier at Valley Forge, sacrificing myself for my suffering country so that we all can be

My nine month term has ended for serving in the war and I have the option to re enlist or not to

marriages in the country. The above picture portrays such interracial marriage between a
Chinese man and a white woman. The family in the picture is known as the See family. The
picture was taken in Los Angeles in 1914 and in the top row two of the oldest See sons stand
tall, from left to right there is Ray See and Milton See. In the bottom row Eddy See is sitting on
his father Fong See s lap, following there is Florence See, then there is Letticie See (Fong See s
first wife), and lastly middle son, Bennie See. The familyseems to be posing in a very serious
matter; yet, I don t see any sorrow or sadness among any of the See family members. What I do
see in the picture; however, is how protective both parents seem of their... Show more content on

Fong See is holding on his lap very firmly and sturdy his youngest son Eddy, while Letticie very
protectively holds the small of her daughter s back with her hand. And how could they not be on
the verge of protectiveness. During this time, the Chinese immigrants were viewed with much
negative sentiment by the American citizens. They believed the Chinese were taking away their
jobs and if they were successful business owners this sentiment against them was even greater. For
many Chinese American, life in California was marked by daily rounds of humiliation and
intimidation (Bean and Rawls, 193). And this did not excluded the See family, who despite being a
very successful family, they were still viewed as Chinese immigrants who emigrated from China as
laborers, and as Chinese descents they were subjected to the discriminatory treatment of that

The Three Common Hobbies
Hobbies, good or bad, we all have our own set of them and is another factor that make us unique
from one another. Hobbies come in a variety of categories. They may be hobbies related to
physical fitness, social lifestyle, spiritual, and the likes. (Rajkoomar, 2015) Hobby is not an
inborn inclination. It is developed through a constant and systematic process. A hobby is not
pursued to make a profit. The main purpose of a hobby is to derive pleasure out of it. It gives us
mental and physical relaxation. One makes the best use of one s spare time by pursuing a hobby.
Hobbies are used for one s entertainment or leisure. By doing our hobbies, we get to develop and
discover skills, talents, and potential on a particular activity. We also find... Show more content on

Just by looking at the way it works, one will most likely say that one is mathematically inclined
if one knows how to solve it. A Rubik s Cube comes in varieties ranging from 2x2x2 cubes until
up to 13x13x13 cubes, with 6 different colors on each side of the cube, all following a variety of
methods to solve them once the cubes have been scrambled. According to Estevez (2015),
Depending on whether you figure it out yourself or get help from tutorials, there are many
benefits in learning something new and in this case, there are many benefits in learning how to
solve the Rubik s cube. For starters, it s no secret that learning something new helps promote a
healthy and happy brain. Each time you learn a new skill you are rewiring the parts of your
brain by connecting neurons. The older we get, the easier it is to allow ourselves to fall into
patterns. We know a certain route to get to a destination and more often than not we follow the
same route rather than look for a new way. There is nothing wrong with that, but if you take
measures to always stay on the hunt for learning, you will create a healthier future for yourself.
The Rubik s cube is the perfect example. The Rubik s Cube also serves as a representation of life.
We face problems daily and work through them to get through the day successfully. Whether you
are figuring out a new way to travel or deciding what to make for dinner,

Facing Fear Research Paper
Facing Fears Scared thoughts raced through as my arms and legs shook with each step I climbed
higher. My sweaty palms making it hard to hold onto the pegs. I tried to stay positive and just
think about the zip line that awaited me at the end of the high ropes course. It was August 4, 2016
my fifth day at camp and I had been having an amazing week. We d been doing lots of fun
activities like swimming, horseback riding, and making s mores. I wondered what exciting activity
we d be doing that evening when our counselor announced that our cabin would be doing the high
ropes course. At first I was really excited about it, but then after we went through the safety
procedures and got harnesses on I started to feel nervous. I was scared... Show more content on

I kept climbing, one step at a time, until I got about halfway up. At that point I looked down at
the ground and realized just how high up I really was. After I looking at the ground, I started
thinking that maybe I should give up and climb back down. I was about to call out to the belayer
that I wanted to climb down, but right before I opened my mouth I got a gut feeling that I should
keep climbing. It was like having a friend right by my side saying, You can do this, don t give
up! I decided to listen to the feeling and keep climbing without looking down at the ground. I
started to gain more confidence and climbed faster. Before I could even comprehend it, I was at the
top of the course. I silently cheered for myself and I couldn t wipe the big smile off of my face. I
couldn t believe that I had actually climbed all the way to the top. After that I took off the
carabiner that was connecting me to the belay rope and connected my other two carabiners to the
ropes on the course. I started to walk across a long bridge made of ropes. I realized that walking
across the bridge was a lot easier than climbing up the tall pole. After the bridge was a log that I
had to walk across before I could reach the zip line. While walking across the log I felt a little shaky
at times, but I told myself I could do it and eventually I was to the zip

Performance Argument Analysis
For my performance concept, I will focus on how millennials are put to an unfair standard and
set of criticism. For the aspect of familiarity , I will set up a slide show of multiple articles that
discuss how millennials are lazy, self entitled, and selfish, etc. For the first 30 seconds, I will sit
in a chair looking at my phone. After that, I will stand up and spend a minute speaking of true
stories of people my age who are struggling to exist in this day and age despite their hard work.
After a minute, I will realize I m being ignored, and spend the last 30 seconds settling back in on
my chair and looking back to my phone, ignoring the articles in anger.
I will have the audience be sat in rows like any audience would be. This is because ... Show more

There will be a section of thirty seconds at the beginning and thirty seconds at the end where I do
nothing but look at my phone. However, when I start speaking I will begin a slow build of
emotional responses. I wish to be able to convey the frustration over time of how millennials are
attempting to do the best with what they have but to still be criticized for it. As my frustration
builds, so will the speed of my words as well as the volume. However, once the red spotlight is
turned off, not only will the passion of my words dwindle away but my sentences. This should
convey the hopelessness at being taken seriously or having my concerns addressed by those who
are writing these articles behind me.
I hope to accomplish in this piece the juxtaposition of showing how many images and articles that
consider the millennial generation to be a passive and egocentric while I speak passionately about
stories and topics that affect this generation. Those of the millennial generation are even quick to
categorize their peers as being all of these terrible adjectives because that s what s been told to
them. I hope to cause the audience to question if we should believe labels that are placed upon
them or to think more critically why these labels are given to

Louisiana Purchase Dbq Analysis
During the early 1800s, the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, bought the
Louisiana Territory. This acquired piece of land came to be known as the Louisiana Purchase. The
territory consisted of various Native Indian tribes which Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark to explore.
Based on the provided documents, the conclusion that can be made is that Lewis and Clark were
not respectful to the Native Americans because not only did they kill members of their tribe, but
they wiped out their culture as a whole. In document A, Thomas Jefferson, the current President at
the time, sent a letter to Meriwether Lewis with specific instructions on how to approach the Native
Indians which was in a placatory and friendly fashion (Document A).

An Ethical Dilemma Of Tube Feeding
An Ethical Dilemma of Tube Feeding There are times that self determination has opposition with
the values and beliefs of health care providers. The five step ethical decision making model is in
place for patients that are unable to make their own health care decisions due to incompetency;
paternalism is not the method used anymore. In relation to health care, paternalism manifests
itself in the making of decisions on behalf of patients without their full consent or knowledge.
(Burkhardt Nathaniel, 2008). Value systems, which includes a patients and family morals, play a
factor in ethical decision making. Background Ann is seventy seven year old that was diagnosed
with moderately advanced Alzheimer s disease two years ago. She has periods of confusion,
frustration, anger and obsessive thinking. When Ann began to realize her health was deteriorating,
she and her husband Frank discussed their wishes should anything happen to them. Ann stated
she would not want to be hooked to a breathing machine if she had no chance of survival and no
papers were ever signed regarding this. Frank sincerely loved Ann, they were married for sixty
years. As Ann s Alzheimer s progressed, Frank started to take care of Ann by cooking for her and
cleaning all while watching her health decline. Eventually, for Ann s safety she was admitted to a
long term care facility. After three weeks in the nursing facility Ann developed pneumonia and was
transported to the local hospital and started on

The Fairness Doctrine Essay
The United States Federal Communications Commission, also known as the FCC, introduced the
Fairness Doctrine to make broadcasters report controversial issues of public importance in a
manner that was equally balanced, honest, and fair. Broadcasting companies were required to
provide a certain amount of airtime reporting accurate and fair information both for and against
public issues. Broadcasters were not required to provide equal time for opposing views, but were
required to present opposing viewpoints. Broadcasters were received broader boundaries as how to
how they were to provide those opposing views. Because under the constitutional right of free
speech, the government wanted to insure that broadcasting companies provided both... Show more

They also were required to offer the affected party a reasonable amount of air time to voice their
opinions and defend themselves against the situation. The government also attempted to control
political bashing of any government representatives. Broadcasting stations were allowed endorse or
oppose whomever they desired, but they had to notify the opposite political parties and provide
them with the information that had been aired and allow them an equal opportunity to respond in
their defense. With the continually changing methods of reporting information, such as the internet,
regulators struggled with monitoring and controlling the information that people were providing.
On August 12, 2008, FCC Commissioner Robert M. McDowell stated that the reinstitution of the
Fairness Doctrine could be intertwined with the debate over network neutrality, a proposal to
classify network operators as common carriers required to admit all Internet services applications
and devices on equal terms, presenting a potential danger that net neutrality and Fairness Doctrine
advocates could try to expand content controls on the Internet.(AuBuchon) The has always been
mixed emotions with the public s opinions on this issue, but with rapid increase in technologies it
would possible that any viewpoint could be aired through the many types of communication

School Superintendents Responsibilities
Each school district has a command chain and at the top is the Superintendent. Superintendents are
most commonly compared to as the CEO of a school district. The Superintendent is the key to
success in generating to the leadership of the schools responsibility for total success. This person
is in charge of creating a vision for the school. The Superintendent hires and supervises all
administrators and works to address all school challenges.
A Superintendent has the main responsibility of governing an entire school district. Great

the district to achieve. They also serve as an educational leader. The most important part of the job

School support staff consists of administrative assistants, teacher s aides, paraprofessionals, nurses,
cooks, custodians and maintenance staff. These faculty members have a direct relationship on how
the school runs. Most often they manage and take care of daily tasks that get overlooked but are
some of the most important things to how a school can be run smoothly. At Packer, we have a
strong group of support staff. These members of the community help aid teachers, students and
administrators in ensuring we meet the need of our students.
As an educator who is always striving to expand myself professional, I do not see myself as a
district leader in the future. I am an active leader within the Packer community and I love teaching,
coaching and advising. Being a Superintendent takes you outside of the schools and more into a
business mindset. The key to why I love teaching is my direct interactions and relationships with
my students, players and advisees. Knowing that a Superintendent has to think about all schools
across the district and be more hands off is something that does not particular interest

Lizard Research Paper
The lizards Respiratory Function and Procedure for Surgery
Lizards are a unique animal for various reasons, but I find one of these unique qualities to be
especially fascinating. That is the respiratory system and the reptile s spontaneous ventilation rate is
directly related to temperature and partial pressure of oxygen (PO2). Whereas the mammals
respiration is strictly related and driven by carbon dioxide (PCO2). In veterinary medicine this is
something that comes up when it comes time to use anesthesia on a reptile for a surgical or other
procedure in which they will need to be anesthetized. Inhalants are somewhat of a contradiction as
the lizard can hold its breath for long periods of time during the induction phase of inhalant
anesthesia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Isoflurane is the accepted inhalant agent of choice for reptiles. Isoflurane is cardiovascular
sparing, has short residual effect, and is readily available, with concentrations of two to five
percent the amount that may be needed. The newer inhalant agent sevoflurane has been evaluated
in the desert tortoise, and appears to be quite safe and short acting. The manufacturer of
sevoflurane reports it to be useful for mask or chamber induction in reptiles as it has less odor
and is less irritating than isoflurane. Attempts to induce anesthesia by mask or chamber induction
may often fail, or take a very long time, due to reptiles ability to become apneic for long periods
as discussed earlier. In high oxygenated areas, the spontaneous ventilation is suppressed as the need
for the oxygen is already being made by the oxygen saturation of the inhalant anesthesia. Lizards
experience profound respiratory depression under anesthesia, and assisted or intermittent positive
pressure ventilation (IPPV) is usually a general procedure needed. Thus being why control of the
airway is essential in the lizard when under inhalant anesthesia. In general, induction of anesthesia
with an injectable drug will facilitate intubation. Intubation is relatively easy for most species of
lizards as the glottis is located rather prominently at the base of the tongue. Endotracheal tubes for
reptiles should generally be non cuffed Cole tubes, or

  • 2. Sample Testing Is Mandatory Against A Static Groundwater... Statistical methods can be useful in compliance assessment and corrective action monitoring, where single sample testing is mandatory against a static groundwater protection standard. These criteria health and also those derived from related as a fixed standard. The primary tool for monitoring is the confidence interval. Numerous ranges of confidence intervals, including confidence intervals around means, medians. The goal is on planning tests with reasonable statistical performance in terms of per test false positive rates. Confidence interval are designed to estimate statistical characteristics of some parameter of sampled population. Given a statistical parameter of interest such as the population mean (Вµ), the lower and upper limits of a confidence interval define the most probable concentration range in which the true parameter should be. Like any estimate, the true parameter many not be located within the confidence interval. The frequency with which this error tends to occur is denoted О±, while its complement (1 О±) is known as the confidence level. The confidence level represents the percentage of cases where a confidence interval constructed according to a fixed algorithm or equation will actually contain its intended target, e.g., the population mean. A point worth clarifying is the distinction between О± as the complement of the confidence level when constructing a confidence interval and the significance level (О±) used in hypothesis testing. Yes, there is nothing in the whole world I would not give! I would give my soul for that! (p. 32, The Picture of Dorian Gray) After countless hours of meticulously replicating the handsome man on the pedestal with delicate brushstrokes, Basil Hallward completes yet another exceptional portrait. Dorian s impulsive nature causes him to make a wish that is lacking in thought and realization of the consequences that may result from it. The thought of eternal youth drives the young man mad and the fact that he is unable to have it frustrates him to the extent that he is willing to give everything he has, including his soul. This wish combined with the lengths he is willing to go to make it come true foreshadow the deadly consequences that may result because of it. This quote speaks to me because it gives insight into the heart of Dorian Gray and it reveals his true intentions. The Enlightenment was revolutionary because of Voltaire, a writer that used his ideas to attack the established Catholic Church, and to propagate the freedom of religion, scientific thoughts, skepticism and experiential philosophy. Voltairewas born in 1694, a year that was under the regiment of Louis XIV. At that time, the aristocracy ruled France in an extreme way that most commoners were struggling in poverty. Once they were expelled from their current positions, they needed to live as commoners, or maybe suffered more because they had never done anything in the castle. Even though Candide was expelled, he was still very happy because he always believed in optimistic philosophy. He learnt the philosophy from his teacher, Panloss, a parody of the contemporary philosophers in the seventeenth century that always argued about the metaphysics, which had no use in the real world. Also, the optimism was a satire from the philosophy of Leibniz, a popular philosopher around that time. The optimism was widely used in the Christian churches to tell people that life was always full of happiness because the perfect God created the world. Human beings suffered in the world because they did not see the greater purpose from God. The sufferings were only trials and in the end the human being would still deserve ultimate happiness. After the Lisbon s earthquake, which killed more than 30,000 people, many of who died because they were just praying to the God without actually doing anything, Voltaire was very angry about the situation that the priests in the church did not help people, but led them to sit in the church and pray. • 6. Effectiveness Of Successful Resilience Programs For Nurses Shortcomings in the Literature Although CF and resilience are relatively new areas of research, there are several studies that cite their importance and benefit to combatting illness, nursing and patient quality of life, and retention rates. As mentioned previously, CF adversely affects both nursing retention rates, as well as patient outcomes. Hart, Brannan, and Chesnay felt a majority of factors in patient dissatisfaction were the same factors that increased stress in nurses; thus, patient and nurse quality of life are inseparably tied together. Preliminary studies show that resilience strengthening classes for nurses significantly alleviates CF rates. However, no studies to date try to link these classes for nurses with patient outcomes. Patients who have more resilience have better outcomes, especially long term and with regard to their families. Research should be done to examine whether successful resilience programs for nurses also affect both patient outcomes and patient resilience levels. If these are significantly benefited by resilience programs, then resilience programs for nurses will have a greater reputation among healthcare organizations. If both nursing and patient outcomes are benefited, the cost effectiveness and necessity of these programs will be realized, as well as advancement in healthcare efficacy. It lets students know how textbooks leaves out info, which in turn downplays many events in history. According to Marx s view of capitalism, every company works to make a profit, because without profit there is no reason to exist. He said that labor is a commodity that carries an exchange value to be traded for something else, but questioned how profit is made if commodities exchange in equilibrium. His answer was that profit is made when workers are exploited, or work part of the time without pay. Marx believed that if there were no workers there would be no profit and ultimately no capitalism. The issue is that human suffering, however, is good for business according to Marx. People are born into a preexisting system, because the economy forces people into social relations and roles, and because of this, workers truly felt that they would never become free from the capitalist class unless they had the ability to produce a living. Marx found this to be unjust and felt there should be a redistribution of wealth. Marx s attack on capitalism, however, angered the bourgeois ruling class greatly, and his ideologies caused uproar. Through filmatic elements such as Cassavetes choices of cinematography, editing, narrative, mise en scene, sound and music, he creates an extremely believable story of two teenagers in the 1940 s who fell in love over the time span of one summer. In order to create a 1940 s vibe, Cassavetes wisely uses a specific choice of costumes, makeup and scenery to portray exactly the time period he wanted to. Music also plays a key role in reminding the audience that this movie took place in the past. The sound used in this movie serves a large purpose. There are many scenes when Cassavetes allows everything else to be silent and the object of focus to be the loudest in order for the audience to truly concentrate on its meaning. Going back to the scene when Allie and Noah dance in the street together, Cassavetes purposely makes them dance without actual music initially and has Noah hum the tune he wishes to slow dance to, while all else is silent. The reasoning for this is to further contribute towards Cassavetes attempts to get the audience to fall in love with the two teenager s relationship. Dancing without music in the middle of the street shows that the couple can have a great time with nothing else but their love and it also portrays their free spirit and fun personalities. Another time when sound serves a specific purpose is when Noah takes Allie to an abandoned house that he promises he will fix up when he gets older so they can live together in it. A dusty piano in the corner intrigues Allie and she begins to play one of her favorite slow tunes. All else is completely silent in the room as Cassavetes forces the audience to focus on the tune she is playing, for it serves a purpose later on in the movie. While the voice of the individual must never be lost in a society of shouts growing larger and louder every second; graffitiis such a public medium that its integrity must be of great concern. Even legitimate complaints about the behavior of some individuals should not be expressed in this manner, they are to be judged within the walls of a courtroom not on the walls of a bathroom. Another reason why people engage in graffiti is to shape their identities. This form of graffiti is easily passed off as mere vandalism and considered an annoyance to our society but when viewed with more compassion, it becomes clearer how important of an outlet this form of graffiti is. Especially for today s youth (a generation that often feels insignificant) it is psychologically important for them to have solid, material evidence of their own existence. Correlated with identity based graffiti is another type called tagging. Tagging refers to types of graffiti that range from stylized signature [tags] to mural size [pieces] that elaborately blend fanciful script, cartoon characters and messages with the artist s street name (Beaty 43). The BGP protocol is an inter autonomous protocol; which means it is for connecting separate large networks, such as a college network to a corporate network or the internet. Due to the large number of routes and connection this protocol must manage; it uses very many features, or attributes, to achieve this. Cisco defines these attributes as weight, local preference, multi exit discriminator, origin, AS_path, next hop, and community. The first attribute we will look at is called the weight attribute. This is a Cisco proprietary attribute, so it is not found with other vendors. This attribute simply assigns a weight value to any know routes on an individual router. This value is not passed on to any other routers. Each router can have its own independent weight values for any known routes. If two separate routes to the same network are known, the one that has the highest assigned weight value will be the preferred route. The local preference attribute is used to determine the best exit point for an autonomous system (AS). This value is shared by all the routers in the AS to select the best interfaces and routers for reaching known networks. Each known network may exit on any router in the AS, or all on one router in the AS. The route is determined by which router has the highest local preference number for a given network. The multi exit discriminator attribute is kind of the opposite of the local preference. This attribute is sent to a connected AS that is running BGP to suggest the best route in the AS advertising the MED. This is just a suggestion, as the receiving AS can determine its own path by other means. The origin attribute is just that, a way for a router to know how it learned of a path to a network. Urban histories possessed an explanatory power far above the intricate workings of one city; providing larger narratives centered on industrialization or other macro economic developments . Throughout the past 250 years, the world has seen drastic technological advances, the pivotal point in the history and growth of the world being the Industrial Revolution. Yet rarely does the average person realise the impacts of the Industrial Revolution on civilisation. Cities stand at the center of major civilizations, and their organization and structure compose a vital part of human history (quote by). Ancoats and Castlefield were vital in the Industrial Revolution, not just for Manchester, but also for the rest of the world. Both were formed through social, political and economic events. I loved the alliteration in a few of the lines. Dumb as dalmatians and plaid pajamas (although out of context), sounded smooth rolling off the tongue of the speaker. The poem was a great selection for the reading because it showed the deep bond that the two share. Beth read several stories that were extremely short. During the fight for liberation from colonial powers, nationalism serves as the organizational tool behind the movement. It is the sentiment that mobilizes and unites a people in the fight for an independent, egalitarian future. The leader of a revolution must campaign to raise the national consciousness of the whole society in order to ingrain in them that national sentiment that leads them to so fervently participate and make sacrifices for the revolution. The transformation of the simulation of an image to the simulacra is described in the following stages: 1. It is a reflection of a basic reality. 2. It masks and prevents a basic reality. 3. It masks the absence of a basic reality. 4. It bears no relation to any reality whatever; it is its own pure simulacrum. 1 The first stage is where a somewhat perfect copy of the original is made the representation is of the order of sacrament or the original is preserved. The second stage is where reality is altered, this is the pain where the sign becomes an unfaithful copy which masks reality. In this stage, signs and images do not reveal reality, but hint at the existence of a reality. The third stage is where there is a complete disconnect from the real. The sign pretends to be a faithful copy or the original, they attempt to be passed along as the real. Finally, in the fourth stage a pure simulacrum is observed the new image or ... Humans have learned over time to compensate for negative experiences in life through the interactions of the mind, the body, and the brain. The ways in which they interact are exemplified by the biological systems highlighted in the essays by Oliver Sacks, Daniel Gilbert, and Martha Stout. In The Minds Eye, Sacks emphasizes that the trauma of losing one s vision often triggers the system of the mind s eye to improve perceptionbeyond sight, by means of neural plasticity and language. Comparatively, Gilbert suggests in his essay Immune to Reality that negative situations in life can trigger the psychological immune system to provide protection from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is implying that many people who lose their vision have described an almost automatic improvement in their other senses, as well as mental visualization mediated by language. Similarly, Stout explained throughout her essay that some of her patients faced events that demonstrated a trauma generated dissociation from the body itself, or more accurately, from those aspects of mind that inform one of what is going on in the body (Stout 436). Essentially, her patients separated their minds from their bodies, but this was a subconscious disconnection their minds did not inform them of what was happening in the process of dissociation. Stout would therefore agree with Sacks that the improved perception by the mind s eye in blind people must occur subconsciously, much like how individuals experience divided consciousness outside of their awareness. If the mind s eye could be controlled, for instance, then humans would presumably have the capacity to drastically improve their mental visualization even without the loss of vision. However, humans lack the control to improve the quality of life by using these biological systems because they occur automatically. People cannot control ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Gerard Jones s Violent Media Is Good For Youth Since the evolution of pop culture in America, the introduction of violent media to young, impressionable minds has been inevitable. As a child ages, they gradually adjust in response to their environment. Accessibility to media, or lack thereof, significantly shapes a child s character no matter the generation they come from. If adolescents are only familiar with rainbows and sunshine, they will never be able to face the harsh truths of reality. Society teaches kids to fear and bottle up feelings of violenceand the emotions associated with it, instead of expressing it in a healthy way. This is ultimately not the way to achieve world peace. Nevertheless, ignorant adults attempt to shelter youths from this potential outlet without thoroughly understanding its benefits. American writer, Gerard Jones famous for his comic book and nonfiction writing has developed a compelling perspective on this topic from his cloistered childhood, exhaustive research, and parenting role. In his essay, Violent Media Is Good for Kids , Jones proves that exposure to violent media is necessary to prepare children for the real world. Usually the youth of the late 1960s a time of empowerment and liberation are thought of as wild and outgoing, but not Gerard Jones. As a teenager he lived a somber life of submission and seclusion. This research will bring together a worldview, strategies, and methods of research. 1.Worldviews 1.1 Epistemology vs ontology Epistemology is a consideration of what constitutes reality while ontology is the science or study of being (Blaikie 1993). This research adopts constructionism as its epistemology perspective because it is very consistent with the research nature in terms of its aims and objectives. This is because in constructivism, this research did not describe the facts just as they actually are as in objectivity nor did it create something new as it is consistent with subjectivity (Crotty, 2007). This research was thus built from a serious review and analysis of all the available literature on marketing of new brands and entry into the market by many scholars. Baike, (1993) describes epistemology as the theory or science of the methods or grounds of knowledge of reality, the manner in which what exists can be known . In this research we try to understand the position of my stand in respect to the theories drawn. 1.2 Positivism vs Interpretivism There is a philosophical position in relation to the purpose and place of research in general. This has increased the challenges that confront organizations. New competition from unexpected places is a huge challenge. So are the cultural issues that come with a diverse, opinionated, and often far flung workforce. The need for fast acting, effective, sustained organizational change will continue to increase. In fact, it will increase even more rapidly than it is now. The flattening of the world through globalization has sent market forces in new directions. Organizations must react to this increasingly chaotic market swiftly and effectively. The McKinsey 7 S Model and Lewin s three step model are two of the most influential models of organizational change in the business world. The McKinsey 7 S model emphasizes the role of structural factors in organizational change, while Lewin s three step model is rooted in behavioral factors. Right ventricular hypertrophy occurs because the heart pumping action becomes harder creating an increase in the hearts work load. Subsequently, this causes a thicker and more muscular heart muscle. This defect causes also causes a reduction in oxygen flowing to the body. The left side of the heart may be underdeveloped from increased work load on the right side of the heart. The first part of the work consists in a history of mankind until the institution of the social contract, and it reads easily and freely, just as man in Rousseau s conception was in those days. The second part of the Second Discourse, which deals with the critique of the social contract itself, however, reads much more heavily, as if Rousseau were attempting to give the reader a taste of the gravity the social contract itself imposes upon man. The opening lines of the second half already launch his scathing attack on civil society by associating this notion with a man who takes advantage of his fellow men: The first person who, having enclosed a plot of land, took it into his head to say this is mine and found people simple enough to believe him, was the true founder of civil society. The romantic period was known to emphasize the experiences of the individual and was regarded as a highly aesthetic period. It was related with the movement of sensibility or sentimentalism, which stressed the importance of emotions and feelings of sympathy (Kitson 328 329). Contrarily, realism during the Victorian age aimed to address economic and social issues in society by depicting the struggles in the developing society as accurately as possible (Redd). In his preface for Oliver Twist, Dickens justifies his reasons for writing about the criminals of London; he had the impression that real thieves and pickpockets were not portrayed correctly in literature during that time. For that reason, he felt that it was necessary to show these crooks as they really were, for ever skulking uneasily through the dirtiest paths of life (7). A Rubik s Cube comes in varieties ranging from 2x2x2 cubes until up to 13x13x13 cubes, with 6 different colors on each side of the cube, all following a variety of methods to solve them once the cubes have been scrambled. According to Estevez (2015), Depending on whether you figure it out yourself or get help from tutorials, there are many benefits in learning something new and in this case, there are many benefits in learning how to solve the Rubik s cube. For starters, it s no secret that learning something new helps promote a healthy and happy brain. Each time you learn a new skill you are rewiring the parts of your brain by connecting neurons. The older we get, the easier it is to allow ourselves to fall into patterns. We know a certain route to get to a destination and more often than not we follow the same route rather than look for a new way. There is nothing wrong with that, but if you take measures to always stay on the hunt for learning, you will create a healthier future for yourself. The Rubik s cube is the perfect example. • 42. Facing Fear Research Paper Facing Fears Scared thoughts raced through as my arms and legs shook with each step I climbed higher. My sweaty palms making it hard to hold onto the pegs. I tried to stay positive and just think about the zip line that awaited me at the end of the high ropes course. It was August 4, 2016 my fifth day at camp and I had been having an amazing week. We d been doing lots of fun activities like swimming, horseback riding, and making s mores. I kept climbing, one step at a time, until I got about halfway up. At that point I looked down at the ground and realized just how high up I really was. After I looking at the ground, I started thinking that maybe I should give up and climb back down. I was about to call out to the belayer that I wanted to climb down, but right before I opened my mouth I got a gut feeling that I should keep climbing. It was like having a friend right by my side saying, You can do this, don t give up! I decided to listen to the feeling and keep climbing without looking down at the ground. I started to gain more confidence and climbed faster. Before I could even comprehend it, I was at the top of the course. I silently cheered for myself and I couldn t wipe the big smile off of my face. I couldn t believe that I had actually climbed all the way to the top. After that I took off the carabiner that was connecting me to the belay rope and connected my other two carabiners to the ropes on the course. I started to walk across a long bridge made of ropes. I realized that walking across the bridge was a lot easier than climbing up the tall pole. After the bridge was a log that I had to walk across before I could reach the zip line. While walking across the log I felt a little shaky at times, but I told myself I could do it and eventually I was to the zip ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the aspect of familiarity , I will set up a slide show of multiple articles that discuss how millennials are lazy, self entitled, and selfish, etc. For the first 30 seconds, I will sit in a chair looking at my phone. After that, I will stand up and spend a minute speaking of true stories of people my age who are struggling to exist in this day and age despite their hard work. After a minute, I will realize I m being ignored, and spend the last 30 seconds settling back in on my chair and looking back to my phone, ignoring the articles in anger. There will be a section of thirty seconds at the beginning and thirty seconds at the end where I do nothing but look at my phone. However, when I start speaking I will begin a slow build of emotional responses. I wish to be able to convey the frustration over time of how millennials are attempting to do the best with what they have but to still be criticized for it. As my frustration builds, so will the speed of my words as well as the volume. However, once the red spotlight is turned off, not only will the passion of my words dwindle away but my sentences. This should convey the hopelessness at being taken seriously or having my concerns addressed by those who are writing these articles behind me. I hope to accomplish in this piece the juxtaposition of showing how many images and articles that consider the millennial generation to be a passive and egocentric while I speak passionately about stories and topics that affect this generation. Those of the millennial generation are even quick to categorize their peers as being all of these terrible adjectives because that s what s been told to them. I hope to cause the audience to question if we should believe labels that are placed upon them or to think more critically why these labels are given to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This acquired piece of land came to be known as the Louisiana Purchase. The territory consisted of various Native Indian tribes which Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark to explore. The Fairness Doctrine Essay The United States Federal Communications Commission, also known as the FCC, introduced the Fairness Doctrine to make broadcasters report controversial issues of public importance in a manner that was equally balanced, honest, and fair. Broadcasting companies were required to provide a certain amount of airtime reporting accurate and fair information both for and against public issues. Broadcasters were not required to provide equal time for opposing views, but were required to present opposing viewpoints. Broadcasters were received broader boundaries as how to how they were to provide those opposing views. They also were required to offer the affected party a reasonable amount of air time to voice their opinions and defend themselves against the situation. The government also attempted to control political bashing of any government representatives. Broadcasting stations were allowed endorse or oppose whomever they desired, but they had to notify the opposite political parties and provide them with the information that had been aired and allow them an equal opportunity to respond in their defense. With the continually changing methods of reporting information, such as the internet, regulators struggled with monitoring and controlling the information that people were providing. On August 12, 2008, FCC Commissioner Robert M. McDowell stated that the reinstitution of the Fairness Doctrine could be intertwined with the debate over network neutrality, a proposal to classify network operators as common carriers required to admit all Internet services applications and devices on equal terms, presenting a potential danger that net neutrality and Fairness Doctrine advocates could try to expand content controls on the Internet.(AuBuchon) The has always been mixed emotions with the public s opinions on this issue, but with rapid increase in technologies it would possible that any viewpoint could be aired through the many types of communication available to everyone, and go ... • 49. Lizard Research Paper The lizards Respiratory Function and Procedure for Surgery Lizards are a unique animal for various reasons, but I find one of these unique qualities to be especially fascinating. That is the respiratory system and the reptile s spontaneous ventilation rate is directly related to temperature and partial pressure of oxygen (PO2). Whereas the mammals respiration is strictly related and driven by carbon dioxide (PCO2). In veterinary medicine this is something that comes up when it comes time to use anesthesia on a reptile for a surgical or other procedure in which they will need to be anesthetized. Inhalants are somewhat of a contradiction as the lizard can hold its breath for long periods of time during the induction phase of inhalant anesthesia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Isoflurane is the accepted inhalant agent of choice for reptiles. Isoflurane is cardiovascular sparing, has short residual effect, and is readily available, with concentrations of two to five percent the amount that may be needed. The newer inhalant agent sevoflurane has been evaluated in the desert tortoise, and appears to be quite safe and short acting. The manufacturer of sevoflurane reports it to be useful for mask or chamber induction in reptiles as it has less odor and is less irritating than isoflurane. Attempts to induce anesthesia by mask or chamber induction may often fail, or take a very long time, due to reptiles ability to become apneic for long periods as discussed earlier. In high oxygenated areas, the spontaneous ventilation is suppressed as the need for the oxygen is already being made by the oxygen saturation of the inhalant anesthesia. Lizards experience profound respiratory depression under anesthesia, and assisted or intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV) is usually a general procedure needed. Thus being why control of the airway is essential in the lizard when under inhalant anesthesia. In general, induction of anesthesia with an injectable drug will facilitate intubation. Intubation is relatively easy for most species of lizards as the glottis is located rather prominently at the base of the tongue.
