Essay On Belief
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Belief" is a multifaceted task that delves into the intricate
realms of human thought, spirituality, and ideology. The challenge lies not only in presenting a
coherent and well-structured piece but also in navigating the diverse perspectives and nuances
associated with beliefs.
The complexity arises from the subjective nature of belief itself; it's a concept deeply rooted in
individual experiences, cultural backgrounds, and personal philosophies. As an essayist, one
must tread carefully to avoid oversimplification while still making the content accessible to a
broad audience.
Researching this topic demands a thorough exploration of religious, philosophical, and
psychological dimensions, as beliefs manifest in various forms across different domains.
Additionally, addressing the impact of beliefs on societal structures and interpersonal
relationships adds another layer of intricacy to the essay.
Finding a balance between presenting objective information and allowing space for personal
reflection is another challenge. Striking this equilibrium is crucial to creating an essay that
engages readers intellectually while also resonating with their own perspectives and experiences.
Moreover, grappling with the potential controversy surrounding certain beliefs requires a careful
choice of language and a nuanced approach. Respectful consideration of diverse viewpoints is
paramount, aiming for an essay that fosters understanding rather than division.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Belief" demands not only literary prowess but
also a deep appreciation for the complexities inherent in the subject matter. It's an endeavor that
requires sensitivity, thorough research, and an adept ability to navigate the intricacies of human
thought and conviction.

Disney Essay
Colin Wells Sherry Minkowski Government 12 26 March 2000 Disney s Influence
on American Culture How does one begin to describe a king? As generations
change, society calls for new leaders and kings, that will continue to push the
boundaries. Steven Watts describes it as: Hollywood s leading fantasy factory...
(187) Disney is much more prominent in society, its impact now lives in every
household, as well as a place in everyone s soul. Behind it all is a thriving business
that will out live most humans now and in the future. Steven Watts breaksit down
quite simply: Mickey Mouseand Donald Duck embodied a collective desire to
escape the pressures of modern life and return to childhood. (127) The escape from

Carl Hiaasen expresses the other side as well: Disney touches virtually every human
being in America for a profit.
That is rapidly becoming true as well in France, Spain, Germany, Japan, Great
Britain, Australia, China, Mexico, Brazil, and Canada. Disney will devour the
world the same way it devoured this country, starting first with the youth. Disney
theme Wells 3 parks have drawn more than one billion visitors, mostly kids. Snag
the children and everyone else follows parents, politicians, even the press. Especially
the press. We re all suckers for a good cartoon.
(10 11) Not everyone on the planet wants G rated fare. When Disney targets adult
tastes, it s careful to leave Walt s name off the credits. The same folks who brought
you 101 Dalmatians, a movie about adorable puppies, also brought you Pulp
Fiction, a movie featuring junkies, hit men, and bondage freaks. The same folks
who produce Home Improvement, a program about a wisecracking TV handyman,
are also responsible for Ellen, a program about a wisecracking lesbian. (11 12) If
anything is more irresistible than Jesus, it s Mickey. (12) Corporations have always
had a dark side, just as Disney does.
Balance is needed in life; there is a downside to everything. Nothing, not even
Disney can be perfect. Disney benefits society far more than it harms it. The joy a
child gets from seeing Peter Pan flying over Neverland can t be bought, it is already

Liquidated Ethnography
An ethnography named Liquidated: An Ethnography of Wall Street, by Karen Ho
mainly addresses ways of bringing more business to Wall Street Investment banks, the
insecurity of working in Wall Street, the eliteness of the employees, the importance of
making a corporation Global , and how Wall Street plays a substantial role in the
reshaping of corporate America. Throughout the ethnography, Karen Ho constantly
stresses the facts about how the only student from elite universities such as Harvard
and Princeton are recruited, and the employees at Wall Street make a large salary.
Wall Street thinks that the students from the elite universities are the smartest and
hardest workers and that Wall Street could be successful by letting them work at their

Wall Street employees work hard and for long hours because when the time comes
to receive the bonus, they want a large amount because they don t know whether
they will have the job next year or not. One thing that seemed shocking is that after
all the hard work the employees put and they are fired before the bonus check is
given, they will not receive the bonus. How the bonus is calculated is interesting
because the firm will not give you a bonus just for being there, but you need to
bring money for the firm by increasing the shareholder value, and then the firm will
give you a cut of what you bring in. In addition, Wall Street sees firing employees
as best for business because they got rid of middlemen who were highly inefficient
players and it helped to improve the efficiency of the economy. Ho uses several
questions throughout the essay to keep her main ideas organized. The importance
of compensation has a lot to do with how the business is organized, because at the
end of the year, the bonus is eat what you kill. 267 One thing that Ho forgot to
mention is how the job insecurity could be fixed because it is a major concern for
The Myth Of Rome
Rome is a town which boosts of story buildings. The streets are narrow and do not
accommodate large cars. That s the way mike the Sherriff of Rome likes it. He
was hired after his rehabilitation after being injured in a war. He has a cozy and
lovely house in Rome. As the town s Sherriff his main duty is to look out for the
troublemakers and make sure they are punished according to the law of the city.
There is a myth associated with this city about an old lady by the name Aurora, she
is believed to live in an enchanted tree like an owl. According to the myth she is
believed to be very scary with her hair the color of amber with fiery brown eyes.
She protects the enchanted tree and monitors everything and everyone, using the
powers she was given by a supreme old man. The tree is believed to use the Aurora
s powers to control all living things. While Mike takes care of things from below.

mysteriously on a boat down the steely river. Since the people of Rome were peace

Sherriff even took them for a tour around the city showing them around. All this time

Short Essay On The Holocaust
Short Story Cold strikes were hitting his body after I threw him in the ice cold
bath. We watched him from the window in the observatory room . The other
officers were laughing as if they knew what was going to happen, but I knew in
reality none of us knew and that s what scared me the most. His body started off
calm as in nothing could faze him at this point but I could see the fear in his eyes.
The gut ranching fear was in all their eyes. He started to scream loader and loader.
His hands turned blue his vein were trembling, every movement he did got slower
and slower. I thought the next time he moved his arm it would just snap off like a
wooden doll. That s what we thought of them anyway they were just dolls that we
experimented on in the medical side of Auschwitz. Everyday is the same I wake
up have breakfast in my house check in with my Commanding officer Jared and his
wife Catharine then bike to the medical station. I have never really enjoyed
watching the tests but I do like to analyze the data. I have never felt that firing
hatred for Jews as the other officers I am only 22 and have gone to 2 years of medical
school before coming here making me more on the younger side of the group of us....

of tests on the Jews for medical science. For example we would sometimes remove
their eyeballs and dissect them for data. More recently we have been seeing how long
the human body can withstand extreme heat or cold until death. These tests are

Pros and Cons of Implementing a Four-Day School Week
One of the primary motivations for adopting the four day week is financial savings
for the school district. Anticipated savings are in transportation, food and food
service workers, hourly workers and utilities. Savings on school buses and long term
building wear and tear have also been reported. After analyzing Colorado schools
operating on four day schoolweeks, (Dam) reports that transportation costs can be
reduced by 20%. He goes on to say that in order to realize that level of savings,
schools must severely limit transportation for activities or programs not conducted on
regular school days. The capital, insurance, maintenance, and administrative costs
remain relatively constant. Fuel, oil, salaries, and supervisory costs can be... Show

Researchers examined scores across the same group of students for four years, and
across the same grade level. Results showed that the change in schedule had no
observable impact on test performance (Donis Keller and Silvernail, 2009). Similar
studies were also conducted in school districts in New Mexico, Idaho and South
Dakota with comparable results showing. (Herring) claims that research gauging
the impact of a four day school week on student learning is scarce. Officials in
various states claim that comparisons and conclusions are difficult to make. There
has been no broad analysis of crucial test scores on statewide achievement tests or
college entrance exams to show whether there are knowledge gaps or not for
students in four day districts (Herring, 2010). In a recent newspaper article
(Sheehy) chronicles the experiences of a Garfield School District in Colorado who
recently made the switch to a four day week. According to the article, Garfield s
reading and writing scores increased between four and six percent at the high school
level, but math scores remained the same. But district officials aren t reading too
much into the scores. Theresa Hamilton, the schools superintendent said, One year of
data does not make a trend, as a district, that data didn t say anything significant
either way. It s not helping or hindering. (Sheehy, 2013) The article also gives
Mahatma Gandhi Non Violence
A good portion of the National Congress was beginning to feel like they were not
getting enough done, and something of a divide was forming between those in the
National Congress between those who believed that violence was justified, and the
only way to really make a change and those who felt that nonviolencewas the answer
(Kaul). The portion who believed that violence was justified formed the Indian
National Army, alongside their most iconic figure Subhas Chandra (Kaul). The other
portion, led by Mahatmas Gandhi, who preached nonviolence and the use of civil
disobedience. This divide in the National Congress created problems for the

London sporting teams
London sporting events including The London Nights and The London Lightning,
are our direct competition. Although these events generate a lot more fans and has
and have the appearance of being much higher quality , the connection students have
with the Mustangs, and the cheaper admission are our greatest competitive
advantages.
Downtown London Bars, Restaurants and Clubs
Downtown London will appeal to many students who are seeking an environment
to drink, eat and socialize in. Although it will be very difficult to compete with the
downtown nightlife as it offers a social environment for young adults, these events
are typically costly and are almost exclusively for adults of at least 19 years of age .
On the other hand, we provide a social environment for students of all ages and with
no admission cost, resulting in a far cheaper night.
EVENING EVENTS ON CAMPUS (CLUBS)
Although student run clubs are inconvenient as meetings are typically help during the
same time as varsity games, these clubs will be considered as indirect competition.
With over 150 student organized clubs many of which are sports related, this is a
large potential market. Also, although club meetings are mandatory, clubs are
typically searching for events to do
Implication Of Prostitution
In the United States, prostitution is only legal in Nevada. However, prostitution is
widely practiced throughout the United States without government regulation. This
imposes negative consequences on the prostitute, customer, and public as well as
prevents the government from benefiting from an untapped market. Nevada
prostitutionlaws and the implementation of an entertainment taxon prostitution show
how government regulation of prostitution increases government revenue through
taxes while decreasing negative externalities. In order to understand the economic
implication of regulated prostitution, it is important to know the current prostitution
laws in Nevada. According to Nevada StateLaw, prostitution is legal in licensed
brothels in designated counties. Additionally, the law requires prostitutes to work
voluntarily, be at least 18 years old, utilize a condom, and adhere to regular STD
testing. The above regulations outlines the positive impact associated with
government regulated prostitution and the reduction of negative externalities on this
market. First, licensed brothels provide security and protection to and from
prostitutes, customers and locals in the area, which is not always provided in illegal
prostitution. Secondly, prostitutes must use condoms, and regularly take STD tests.
This protects the prostitute from getting diseases, while also mitigating the spread of
disease if they were to catch a STD. These protective implementations have spill over
The Snake Chief, By Miriam Majola

folklorist Diana Pitcher. The Retelling of the story is set in Zululand, because that
is where Pitcher heard it first. Nandi was a very poor lady who lived with just her
daughter. Her husband had passed away and she had no sons to herd cattle for her.
During the summer, Nandi and her daughter ate creamy flowers off these trees, but
when fall came around they picked umdoni berries to trade neighbors for food. One
day Nandi went to the river to pick umdoni berries so she could trade and eat. When
she got there she couldn t find any berries not even one. She then heard a loud
hissing sound, and she saw snake. The snake was wound around the branches of the
umdoni trees eating all the berries. Nandi cries out You are stealing my
berries....Oh, Snake, you are stealing all my berries. What will I have to exchange
for meat if you take all the fruit? The snake stopped and slithered down the tree to
talk to Nandi. The snake then wanted something in exchange for stop eating the
berries. Nandi and the snake agree to a deal if the snake fills Nandi s basket with
berries Nandi will give the snake her daughter for one night. Once Nandi Leaves with
a basket full of berries she realizes her bad deal with the snake. She knows she can t
give the snake her only daughter for a night. She then decides to not take a direct
path home. On the way homeshe tries to loose snake, Nandi then crosses the river and

(Grieshop et al, 2009) Evidence based studies imply that youth of color are being

Kentucky but, nationwide. Disproportionate minority contact (DMC) in juvenile
justice alludes to youth of color being place into the system at a greater rate than
their Caucasian counterparts. All races break the law at about the same rate;

Introduction: Darwin s Theory of Evolution is the commonly thought notion that all
life is linked and has descended from a common ancestor. Darwin s general theory
assumes the development of life from nonlife and stresses a purely naturalistic
descent with modification . That is, complex creatures evolve from more simplistic
ancestors naturally over time. Natural selection is a process in which individuals
that have certain inherited traits tend to survive and reproduce at higher rates than
other individuals because of those traits (Campbell, 2014). How Darwin came about

Energy Drinks And Athletic Performance
Introduction
Energy drinks, are beverages that contain large doses of sugar (up to a quarter cup
per can), caffeine and other ingredients, like the stimulatory herb Guarana and the
amino acid Taurine. Dr. Erin Duchan, a pediatrician and co author of a review of the
current science about energy drinks for athletes, published recently in The Physician
and Sports Medicine, said There s good evidence that caffeine is ergogenic (substance
used for the purpose of enhancing performance) and it can, in the right circumstances,
improve athletic performance. (Duchan, 2014)
The aim of this investigation is to see whether Mother energy drinks increase athletic
performance. The hypothesis that will be tested is that If a person consumes an
energy drink they will run further in the beep test.
The independent variable is the Energy drink and the dependent variable is the
athletic performance how long someone can run the beep test until they can no
longer run. In this investigation there are various factors that need to be kept
constant in order to achieve the best results, these include the environment the place
it is performed e.g. if one is performed on a tennis court the second one will need to
be performed on a tennis court, the weather conditions should be similar, the energy
drink type and amount, participants, time of day practical is performed and
participants should wear similar clothing in each test same shoes (running shoes) and
type of clothing,

The Theory Of Sexuality By Sigmund Freud
Few topics evoke so much intrigue and bewilderment, discussion and silence as the
concept of sexuality. It has simultaneously been the focus of scientific
experimentation and theoretical debate since the emergence of the modern world.
Traditional views designate sexuality as purposeful, which is to say that our sexual
instinct compels us toward reproduction and the preservation of life. This parallels
human sexualityto that of animals, an instinct that is genetically programmed into us
for the purpose of copulation. This is made to seem analogous to the instinct of
hunger or thirst and taking nourishment (15). In his book, Three Essays on the
Theory of Sexuality, Sigmund Freudchallenges these conventional views of the
subject. While there are translational inconsistencies with his use of the word instinct,
the term drive actually substantiates his theory. He argues that sexuality begins in
childhood and can develop into a continuum of expressions that are shaped by
experiences at the level of the body, and to a lesser extent, experiences in society.
These impulses of the libidodrive all psychological activity. In this paper I will
show that, according to Freud, sexuality is embedded in our bodily being without
being instinctual because it can take many forms, it can be controlled or repressed
and contains mental dispositions. Much of who we are is shaped from experiences
that begin soon after birth and Freud argues that sexuality is no exception. The

Corruption In Barn Burning
A bond between two people can be a powerful yet delicate force, and more often
than not, it can be abused. Throughout human history, young and innocent minds
have been manipulated by higher powers in attempts to create a population
unaware of the immoral activities carried out by those in charge. Many religious
cults and fascist governments have used this to create followers who blindly accept
their corrupt rules and policies. A simple relationship or bond could be used as a
method of control. However, this control sometimes fails, and some see through the
corruption at the trutt. Following that, is a fight for independence. In the case of
Sarty Snopes, his independence was gained through the struggles he faced with his
father, Abner. His forced loyalty to his father s crimes eventually pushes him to
break away, but at the price of his father s life. The story Barn Burningfocuses on the
struggles of the Snopes, a poor family forced to move after the patriarch, Abner
burns down someone s barn. He tells his son Sarty about a special blood between
them and says that he must stick to it. At the de Spain farm, where they move to,
Abner does not adjust well, eventually going to his old ways and burning a rug.
Forced with paying for the rug, Abner decides to burn down de Spain s barn. Sarty,
who has been on his father s side, decides to call him out to de Spain, causing him to
go kill Abner, leaving Sarty without his father and looking at a new start. Throughout

Organizational Change In Eastman Kodak
1.Introduction Organizational change is the movement of an organization away from
its current state and toward some desired future state to increase its effectiveness
(Lunenburg, 2010). Changes in the environment often require changes within the
organization driving within that environment. Change fatigue is one of the
challenges organization face.
Change may occur in order to remain competitive in response to new competition.
Change fatigue is rampant, and its aggravated by a natural tendency to distrust
change that is imposed from above (Morgan, 2001). This report will discuss about
Eastman Kodak Company as the organization that failed because it did not go

Organizational Culture Organizational Culture is a pattern of shared basic
assumptions that was learned by a group as it solved its problems of external
adaption and internal integration, that has worked well enough to be considered
valid and, therefore, to be taught to new members as the correct way to recognize,
think, and feel in relation to those problems (Schein, 2004). Historically, Kodak was a
business built on a culture of innovation and change, which made them very
successful, but as achievement grew so did their complacency.
The deep rooted source of Kodak s problem was a culture of self satisfaction .
Kodak was critically destroyed by its culture, although it was the quick progress of
digital photo technology that is commonly blamed for Kodak s demise (Riley,
2015). On the other hand, Kodak s new leadership has not clearly addressed what are
Kodak s essential features and neglected the need to transform the Kodak s culture
destinies, which may be any possibility of Kodak future succeed. Therefore, the
culture of Kodak was unable to operationalize and launch the ideas that would

The Swing Era
My audience was my life. What I did and how I did it, was all for my audience ,
these words came from the well known and never forgotten Cab Calloway. His
style and mix of blues, swing and scat spread like wildfire and filled many peoples
lives with joy, excitement and happiness. Cab Calloway broke the boundaries of
racial barriers and become a very popular and influential household name. As stated in
the JazzProfiles from NPR, A truly larger than life figure in American pop

Cab Calloway arose from an era where racism against black jazz musicians was
present and drug addiction seemed to consume the majority of these musicians
lives. It was no surprise that Cab Calloway pursued a career as an entertainer. He
grew up in a family that consisted of musicians and performers, although it was
expected that he would follow in his fathers foot steps and become a lawyer. Around
the mid to late 1920s Cab Calloway assembled his own band and they were known as
the Alabamians. Although his time with the Alabamians was short lived, he
eventually became bandleader of a big band called the Missourians. Cab Calloway
and the Missourians became an instant hit and sensation. They performed in popular
clubs such as Savoy Theater and The Cotton Club. As stated in the article Cab
Calloway and The Cotton Club written by Kinsley Suer, Cab quickly became so

tentatively concludes that those individuals who received their test interpretation
experienced greater results in counseling compared to those who did not receive
interpretations. It can be challenging for counselors to break down these results in a
way that the individuals taking the assessment can understand and relate to so it
critical that counselors receive more training to develop these skills. If test results
are not communicated effectively or are misperceived it could cause serious
confusion for the individual and significantly impact the way they view themselves
and their abilities. Test results can be difficult to understand especially if terminology
you are using becomes confusing or is misunderstood by the client. As the book
states we need to be comfortable communicating and interpreting the results before
we begin to share with the client so that when we are delivering the results we are
able to focus on the clients reactions and questions rather

Essay on Cheesecake Factory
Often times when in conversation with friends, peers, and even strangers there is one
question that seems to always come up; What is your favorite restaurant? People are
curious in seeing what type of restaurant you like because when revealing that
information it tells more about you than you think. When telling somebody where
you enjoy eatingit gives them a sense of how much you re willing to spend for a
good meal, what side of town you like to go to and even gives them a slight glance at
your personality. When asked that question I undoubtingly respond the same way

gives a restaurant the upper hand over its competition?
The Cheesecake factory has some key strengths that keeps it running at a high
level. The Cheesecake Factory has a low employee turnover rate. That means that
once they hire somebody the person usually keeps the job for a long time. Of
course you have situations and instances where some employees have to be let go
for whatever reason, but when you check your numbers as to how many had to go
verses how many are still working in good standings, you have to tip your hat to
your employment staff. Another strength of the Cheesecake Factory is that they
have such a large variety of dishes and desserts. Variety is key when in the
restaurant business because many times there are so many other restaurant that are
serving the same style, if not the same exact dishes as you. The Cheesecake factory
have hundreds of different cheesecakes to choose from. You will not find another
restaurant with that much variety in their desserts. Their main courses and
appetizers follow suit with amazingly large selection. One more advantage of the
Cheesecake Factory is its ability to appeal to various kinds of people; in other words,

International Service Of Air Transportation
Introduction
An airline company can be defined as an organization providing public service of air
transportation on one or more routes to passengers and freight. Airlines vary widely
in size, from small companies to huge multinational companies. Airlines lease or own
their aircraft with which they supply services and may form partnerships or alliances
with other airlines for mutual benefits. Generally an airline must have an air operating
certificate or license issued by a governmental aviation body.
History of airlines Airplanes were around the first few years of the 20th century. In

Established airlines enjoyed an advantage over star ups, as new carriers found it
difficult to break into exiting routes. (Harris, A.).
The Federal Aviation Agency, now known as the Federal Aviation Administration,
was created in 1958 to manage safety operations. A 1981 air traffic controller s
strike brought a temporary setback to the growth, which continued throughout the
1980s. Major carriers such as Pan America and TWA, began to collapse in the
wake of competition; such carriers disappeared completely following the Gulf war
and recession of the early 1990s. In 2001, the industry faced another economic
downturn, as business decreased while labor and fuel cost increased. The 9/11 events
worsened the airline issues, which lead to a decline in customers and significantly
higher operating costs. Loses continued for years; the industry as a whole did not
return profitability until 2006. (Harris, A.).

According to the NAICS code data source, the code used to identify the U.S specific
sub sector under the airline industry is 48111 (Scheduled Air Transportation). As
officially defined by The United States Census Bureau, the industry comprises
establishments primarily engaged in providing air transportation of passengers and

Essay about Women and Buddhism
Women and Buddhism
As a religion, Buddhism has a great impact on women, especially Asian women.
Theravadan Buddhism, which is the early stage of Buddhism, depreciates women
by a theory called Five Blocks . However, Buddhism started to affect women in a
positive way when Buddha raised several doctrines and explained the theory in a
more proper way.
The Five Blocks theory can be summarized as women can t achieve enlightenment
because women are weak, jealous, annoying, desiring and having more affairs in the
world. This theory makes women inferior to men for a long time. Accordingly
women are seen as a weaker sex, cannot make a decision on their own, and they are
dependent beings. As commodity, they must be taken care of by their... Show more

Chinese women formed their own Bhikkhuni group, only for and controlled by
women. Emperor Wuzetian even made use of Buddhism to help her being the first
and only female emperor in Chinese history. (Lin, 1193)
The change in Buddhism significantly helps women: women are no longer
appendants, burden of family or bearing tools; women have more freedom than
before; women start to have their own power and right. However, rather than saying
Buddhism recognized women, I would prefer to say Buddhism recognized Equality .
Buddha considers everything in the world are equal, then men and women are equal;
Buddha considers men and women have the equal responsibility in the family, then
women act as wife more than bearing tools; Buddha considers men and women are
equally useful to society, then women can have more right and power than before.
Buddha gave women an opportunity to change their life; women themselves grasped
the chance and finally get the respect they deserved.

Robin Hood Greed
Robin Hood is a heroic outlaw who is a very skilled archer and swordsman that lives
in the Sherwood Forest that is in Nottinghamshire. Robin Hood is assisted by a group
of
outlaws that are called his Merry Men. Robin Hood is very known for stealing from
the
rich, and giving to the poor. I believe that Robin Hood is not a true follower of Jesus
Christ. He s just another do gooder that doesn t do what the Lord says, but for himself.
Though Robin Hood is not a selfish person, but he has broken very important rules in
the Bible that God has given out. Robin Hood has been very useful to the poor. The

does the same thing, except that he will do better. No one will mess with Robin Hood
after they challenge him in an archery match.
We thought that Robin Hood was a good fighter. Robin Hood is always
encountering someone who can be a challenge to him. Because of Robin Hood being
an excellent archer, and having the strength and accuracy, we thought that Robin Hood
would also be an excellent fighter. When Robin Hood encountered almost everyone he
went up against, instead that Robin Hood got beat up every single time. The only way
that Robin Hood could win his fights is to bring his bow and arrow and end the fight,
but
he doesn t fight well in hand to hand combat.
There are many things that you can learn from the Merry Adventures of Robin
Hood, but the biggest lesson I have learned from Robin Hood is that you should never
give up. When Robin Hood is fighting someone, he always loses and never stays
down
and keeps getting up to fight back even though he loses. I put this into my life when I
play sports, focusing on my studies, and keep fighting in karate. This is what I say to
myself, that when you get knocked down, you simply get up and keep fighting,

Design Parameters And Contingency Factors Essay
Introduction
In the context of management, organisation structure is a backbone of an
organisation. Mintzberg (1980) suggested five general types of organisation
configuration, constituted by coordinating different elements of organisation (basic
parts of organisation, coordinating mechanisms, design parameters and contingency
factors), which will be illustrated indirectly as preferring to present in different
version to describe Mintzberg s configurations in this essay. In effect, his suggested
structures are related to scientific management in some senses. This essay will reveal
the abstract of Mintzberg s five configurations with arguments, and personal
perspectives of how his work help us gain more understanding beyond scientific
management in terms of contingency factors and standardization.

a. Simple structure
Mintzberg (1980,pp.331 332) suggested this comparatively flat and informal
architecture has minimal hierarchy, which only consists of top managers and

structure is organism, because of little hierarchy and decision centralization on chief

Robber Barons or Industrial Giants
In the late19th and early 20th centuries, a severely divided, 100 year old nation called
the United States of America, underwent major transformations that would forever
change America and the world. The cause of the changes was America s Industrial
Era, which began roughly eleven years after the Civil War ended. The
industrialization of America could not have started and continued without big money,
and the leaders and financiers of the movement were capitalists. Capitalists were men
who had accumulated massive fortunes, such as John D. Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan, and
Andrew Carnegie, and they used their money to make more money, while at the same

Rockefeller. They honestly state that as a petroleum refiner, Mr. Rockefeller forced
his smaller competitors to sell out to him, or he forced them to shut down by
undercutting their prices. To further their point, disapproving authors say this
strategy decreased competition, because it enabled the capitalists to acquire new
companies and form trusts , which in reality were monopolies. While their
disapproval of such activities is apparent, the information the writers provide is a
valuable part of history.
In contrast, writers who approve of the progress of industrialization in America will
pay homage to the business tycoons, and refer to them as captains of industry or
industrial giants. They are quick to point out that while the [industrialization leaders ]
practices weren t viewed as ethical, most of the 19th century ... barons didn t commit

readers to remember that this was a time in America when the government was trying
to rebuild a nation that was suffering the devastating effects of the Civil War.
Therefore, when the industrial movement began, it brought new problems on a large
scale that previously did not exist. Consequently, government laws and regulations
regarding business practices did not exist either. As an example, Andrew Carnegie,
who led the expansion of the steel industry in the late 19th century 1 was able

Retention (in IT Companies) A Case Study of IT Companies in India
Abstract
The IT/ITES sector is the backbone of Indian economy. It earns lot of foreign income
to boost the Indian economy. Even in the economic turmoil over the globe,
particularly in developed countries, though this sector had little affected, could come
out successfully managing the entire economic imbroglio. High attrition in the IT
/ITES industry has always been its greatest concern and a subject of much analysis
and debate. Organizations use different methodologies for calculating their attrition
rate. HR experts feel that it is a know factor that attrition calculation is gray area
which does not always depict the true picture while a few techniques are common
there are no proven theories yet. Further, the approach to this calculation might vary
from organization to organization. The Tamil Nadu, Particularly, Chennai is
considered to be one of the biggest IT hubs in India having presence of very big IT
companies. The availability of skilled employees with cheap labour cost in Tamil
Nadu is an important reason. AT the same time the rate of attrition are also felt in
these companies. Presently, Tier II cities like Madurai, and Coimbatore were taken
place in the IT map. The employee retention is also felt in the IT companies situated
in Madurai also. In this context, the researchers, attempted to find out the reasons for

Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Robert Stevenson s novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and
Mr. Hyde follows the plight of Dr. Jekyll, giving insight to human desires that are
typically repressed within a civilized society. People strive to fit into the society
around them. In doing this they often suppress some aspects of their desires. After
giving into desire once, the need for it may increase, and control may slowly
decrease. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde explores the multi faceted
dimensions of the human psyche. There is a constant battle raging within every
person between morality and desire. Very often the more one attempts to suppress
natural urges the stronger and more profound they become. Each man has their
own desires that they wish to fulfill and all men hope that they have a way to
explore those desires without any repercussions. There is no better example of this
than the devolution of Dr. Jekyll throughout the book. Originally before Jekyll
creates the potion that separates the good and evil parts of his psyche, he is an
upstanding pillar of his community. Jekyll desires to better himself and to do so he
makes a potion that may separate the evil in him from the good and thus Hyde is
born. Jekyll also sees Hyde as an opportunity to be able to live out all of his desires
and pleasures without consequences to himself. In his letter to Utterson Jekyll

Some critical issues associated with childhood stunting are impaired cognitive
development, reduced intellectual performance, and reduced job productivity in the
future. Stunting has major effects on children all over the world and if it is not
treated at an early age, the effects are irreversible (Huicho). From pre conception to
the first two years of life, it is crucial for a child to get the proper nutrients essential
for their development:
One of the serious consequences of stunting is particularly impaired cognitive
development. When a child has inadequate access to food, their body conserves
energy by first limiting social activity and cognitive development in the form of
apathetic and incurious children. These children may not develop the capacity to
adequately learn or play. Then the child s body will limit the energy available for
growth (Zusy).
Malnutrition is one of the major causes of childhood stunting.
In a study conducted in West Madura Island, Indonesia, supplementation of lipid
based nutrient supplements were found to prevent stunting in six to twelve month
old infants. The researchers chose to study children of this age range due to the fact
that it s the age where children go from being breastfed to being fed solids. It is
crucial for children at the listed age to get the proper nutrients they need when they
undergo the transition. The study was Conducted on one hundred and sixty eight

ZIONISM S GREATEST CONCEIT
For a people whose traditions and rituals originate from the age of Egyptian pharaohs,
modernity can be a relative term. The Jewish people have one of the oldest traditions
of any culture on earth and have been a part of nearly every major civilization, from
the ancient Egyptians, to the Persians, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans and British
empires. Over the centuries, they have traditions both of successful self governance
but also of persecution, hostility and exile. The ability of the Jewish people to

The objective of Zionists was to elevate the Jewish people from their oppressed past,
to reverse the course of Jewish history which had been characterized by persecution
and exile. They sought, in the extremes, to break with Jewish history entirely and
create a modern version of the Hebrew nation. On the whole, however, Zionists
intended to reshape Jewish life by synthesizing Jewish tradition and history with
modern ideology (Dowty, 1998).
This movement was colored by international shifts in Jewish communities at the end
of the century. From 1880 to 1914, for example, 2.5 million Jews were forced out of
Russia, though of those only 70,000 settled in the Yishuv, the pre state Jewish
community in Palestine. Many of those who emigrated in this period were
revolutionary elements of the Jewish intelligentsia with strong Zionist ideology.
Despite large waves of non revolutionary immigrants who settled in the Yishuv in the
coming years, the highly ideological Zionists would predominate politics for decades
under the Labor Zionist party name. Zionists demonstrated the traditional Jewish
quality of compromise in their revolution to renew and refashion Jewish life into a
modern form. They did not wish to break with Jewish tradition entirely and focused
on Jewish sources of spiritual renewal (Dowty, 1998). In this way, the Zionist
movement attenuated much of

Critical Book Review Essay
To begin, I feel the need to state that this book was slightly hard to digest. I realize
that I am meant to elaborate on whether or not I agree with Joseph Nevins thesis, but
to be honest, I was rather confused as to what that thesis is. The author jumped
around quite a bit, giving the reader extensive background information and lessons in
history and geography, and yet, he managed to tie everything back to the main story
of Julio Cesar Gallagos. I think that, perhaps, the extraneous information might have
drawn too much attention away from Julio s story, and therefore, I found myself
becoming detached and uncertain of Nevins central argument. Basically, I have
concluded that Nevins is a humanist. I believe that the main point of... Show more

However, an older man in a suit and tie began to yell at the Border Patrol agents,
comparing their behavior to that which he had witnessed during the time period of
the Nazis. In short, these Spanish speaking individuals were being treated as
criminals, or as Nevins states, permanent outsiders (Nevins, p. 177). This was a
very compelling passage, and it jogged my memory back to a time where I was
returning from visiting some friends in San Marcos, California. On this occasion, I
saw for the first time, yellow traffic signs on the side of the freeway that portrayed
silhouettes of a man, woman, and child holding hands in a running motion, with the
word Caution posted above. To this day, that image haunts me. That horrid traffic sign
is probably still there, warning the people of Southern California that immigrants are
some kind of potential threat or something to be afraid of. Additionally, I think that
the majority of people who want to abolish illegal immigration, are not worried about
the dangers that individuals like Julio face, but are concerned with their own safety
from these outsiders. Nevins seems to capture this idea in his statement: ...Combined

Marketing Strategy: Target Market(s) Positioning
The Target Marketing is generalizing segment or segments to sell a product and/or
service. Companies use target marketing to reach the consumer and find certain
marketing factors, which allow the company to develop a marketing plan (Prdic,
2016). Target markets are broken down just like segmentation but more specific such
as: the age, lifestyle, and buyer powers. Target market is a key element in a market
plan. Companies can determine the factors of a market plan from a target market
such as: price, promotion, and distribution.

For active mode, a connection is used to transmit FTP commands from a port
higher than 1024 of the client to port 21 of the server. In the stable connection, the
port used by the client for receiving data transferred to the server, and the server
opens port 20 to perform the transfer requested by the client. Although the active
mode is the native mode used by FTP, problems do occur when the server opens a
connection to the client, and the clients protected behind a firewall which could
potentially cut the connection off. The other mode used for connections is passive
mode. In passive mode, it s the client that starts all the links, and the problem of the
firewall from active modes pass from the client to the server, which solves the
limitation of the number of ports accessible for this mode of connection.
Furthermore, to the connection types, there are also two kinds of execution
methods to how FTP is reputable. Standalone mode, which runs as a system process
independently, and is always active and waiting for requests, which is the
recommended method for establishing an FTP connection. The other execution
mode is supervisor mode, where the FTP server process is executed as a child
process and must start each time a new connection is complete. FTP constructed on
the client server architecture, so in addition to FTP servers, there are also FTP
clients. An FTP client is a program on a computer that initiates the connection to an
Dental Hygienist Career
As a college student, it is important to research different professions in order to
determine what career path to ultimately follow. Certainly, there are many types of
jobs to take account of, and as a person with plenty of passions, finding a major has
proved to be quite difficult. Nevertheless, the time has come to decide a career
pathway and currently I am pursuing to become a registered dental hygienist. This
career path is far from my art passions, but the search for a good occupation, and a
feel good job has brought me to the dental hygiene career path. In order to research
this occupation even further, I will interview a dental hygienist and find out if this is
the right career path for me.
First and foremost, I would like to introduce Melissa Giorn, who is a registered
dental hygienist, that works for Utah Partners for Health. I met Melissa through my
dental appointments, and she is my dental hygienist. What really struck me about her
was that she is a young, Hispanic girl, who studied at Sale Lake Community College

As a person driven by their emotions, the focus of the interview was not to solely
discuss career facts, but most importantly to really hear about the feel good parts
about the job. Not to my surprise I learned how this career does not start with feel
good moments. Melissa recounted, the dental hygiene program is the hardest,
most stressful thing I ve been through in my life. Not only did Melissa explain how
hard the program is, but how difficult it was doing it while still working a job at
night. The dental hygiene program at SLCC, is designed to last two years and four
semesters, Monday through Friday, eight am to five pm. I can t imagine myself
going through that, I asked Melissa, were the classes difficult? She replied, in all
honesty, yes, it was extremely
Examples Of Cultural Hegemony In Doris Lessing
Thesis Statement
Understanding the facts that are presented by Gramsci, Raymond and Althusser,
regarding the growth of the theory of cultural hegemony that is typically
originated from Marxist ideas and the post colonial theory, it is indispensable to
apply this to the novels of Doris Lessing. The novels of Lessing are written mostly
about women who lived in the colonial countries and have experienced the
problems of the colonizer and repercussion of colonization. The novels chosen for
this research are The Grass is Singing, The Golden Notebook and The Children of
Violence series. The projected thesis aims to study the hidden injuries of a class
which is hurt by the so called rulers. It is the aim of the scholar to bring out the
elements which reveal the dignity of the oppressed, and the economism and politics
of the author as externalized in the selected novels. The main aim is to study the
elements hegemony in these novels. There is great evidence that can be culled from
these novels about the fragmented societies where gender, race and class determine
the destiny of people. The author uses a conventional tone in her ... Show more

Much of her work is concerned with the everyday and inner lives of sensitive,
receptive women. Lessing was awarded Nobel Prize in Literature in 2007. The
Swedish Academy described her as that epicist of the female experience, who with
scepticism, fire and visionary power has subjected a divided civilization to scrutiny .
Lessing was the eleventh woman and the oldest person yet to receive the Nobel Prize
in Literature. The premier and foremost literary honour was given to a woman who
has analyzed and judged human nature in the second half of the 20th century like no
other literary writer, when Doris Lessing won the Nobel Prize for Literature in
Minimally Processed Foods
Heavily processed foods make up 59% of calorie intake in the average American
diet. Food is meant to provide nutrients that humans need to live and stay healthy.
Modern day processed foods practically defeat the purpose of food because they
provide little nutrients and can cause various illnesses in humans. These negative
health effects are primarily caused by the toxic chemicals that are hidden in food.
Sadly, the majority of Americans eat processed foods without considering the toxic
chemicals the food contains.
Chemicals are found in almost every processed food there is. What is their
purpose? There is no one answer to that question. Some chemicals are used to
enhance the color and appearance of food like certain types of dye. Others are ...

One example of a chemical in food is Carrageenan. Carrageenan is a chemical
introduced to the United States in the 1930 s that is used as a food additive, an
ingredient in laxatives, treatment for peptic ulcer disease, an ingredient in certain
types of toothpaste, an ingredient in various air fresheners, and many other things.
Carrageenan is considered GRAS (generally regarded as safe) despite all the negative
health effects it has shown on animals when given an injection of this substance.
Animals injected with carrageenan developed multiple types of tumors and the
injections also caused sarcomas along with multiple other complications. Carrageenan
is used to replace fat, increase solubility, and enhance texture of various foods. This
chemical can be found in numerous things such as low calorie drinks, infant
formulas, various dairy products, and many more processed foods (Tobacman).
Another chemical called benzene is a carcinogenic substance that is toxic when
humans are exposed to it in high amounts. This substance was found in small
amounts in various soft drinks and in a later study in a cranberry juice. Although
benzene was used in a small amount, long term exposure could lead to health
complications (Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition). In addition aluminum
is found in cheese and can cause gluten sensitivity along with other health
complications. Additionally, processed meats contain
The Argument Against Burning The American Flag
The citizens of this great nation, The United States of America, should uphold,
have respect, have gratitude, and have honor when it comes to dealing this great
nation s beautiful flag. The people of this great nation who decide to set fire to Old
Glory could face some major consequences. Some of these consequences may
come in a variety of forms, such as fire hazards, riots, and sometimes even death.
One of the main arguments against burning our great nation s flag is that the people
who have fought for the American flag and all that it stands for, tend to feel
disrespected. The article Flag Burning Amendment states that Burning the nation s
flag shows disrespect to America . It provokes feelings of anger and disgust. But
punishing citizens for using their personal property to express their personal views
violates the very ideas that animate our constitution with meaning . Furthermore
there are some people that believe the American flag should not be considered
someone s personal property, but perhaps it should considered as the government s
property instead. It should be held in high regard like some people s bibles or other
religious items. The American flag should also be considered a very sacred item.
Obviously flag burning is a fire hazard that can have a very harmful outcome to the
environment and all of its surroundings. Another argument that is stated in the
E.M.S.A. says Many materials in clothing can burn (E.M.S.A). Consider the
Cuban Racial Inequality
Before the start of the Cuban Revolution, inequalities had over taken Cuban
Society and had started to spur on many to act. The equality the government
claimed to spread was all a façade; the system benefited those in power and the
United States while the popular class was so poor they struggled to make ends
meet. People created groups to combat the obvious tyranny, such as El Partido
Independiente de Color which formed together to stop the racism. Others spoke
out in poetry or publications or used their position in court to express the pain and
need for a revolution. These factors were a key part of why so many fought for
change, so they could right the wrongs that had been done to them for so long. The
façade of equality that the government put forth affected those of race and those
of the popular, poorer class. The P.I.C. was founded to fight back against the racial
injustice that was being set forth by the government at the time; with their motto
being an egalitarian, sovereign, and independent republic without racial divisions
and social antagonisms. (PIC, 1). They wanted to lose the need for a division
between the races and make sure there was representation for all Cubans. The
popular class also suffered together at the hands of the elites, You imprison the poor
wretch who steals because he is hungry; but none of the millions who steal millions
from the government has ever spent a night in jail, Castro said. (Castro, 6). The poor
are condemned for trying to
Compare And Contrast The Urban Legend Of The Girl In

The urban legend The Girl in the Lavender Dress is about a girl getting picked up
by two people from an empty street, then disappearing when getting dropped off to
the location they said to go. Resurrection Mary is about a girl dying in a hit and run
then being a ghost then dancing with a man named Jerry then disappearing. The plots
for both of the urban legends are the same because both stories are about two ghost
getting picked up and disappearing. In the urban legendThe girl in the lavender dress
it states There was only one house on the corner on the opposite side, Herbert made
a U turn and stopped the car. There was no one in the rear seat. (Scott) In the video
Resurrection Mary it states Jerry saw a picture of of her in

Essay On Belief. Belief essay religious system

  • 1. Essay On Belief Crafting an essay on the topic of "Belief" is a multifaceted task that delves into the intricate realms of human thought, spirituality, and ideology. The challenge lies not only in presenting a coherent and well-structured piece but also in navigating the diverse perspectives and nuances associated with beliefs. The complexity arises from the subjective nature of belief itself; it's a concept deeply rooted in individual experiences, cultural backgrounds, and personal philosophies. As an essayist, one must tread carefully to avoid oversimplification while still making the content accessible to a broad audience. Researching this topic demands a thorough exploration of religious, philosophical, and psychological dimensions, as beliefs manifest in various forms across different domains. Additionally, addressing the impact of beliefs on societal structures and interpersonal relationships adds another layer of intricacy to the essay. Finding a balance between presenting objective information and allowing space for personal reflection is another challenge. Striking this equilibrium is crucial to creating an essay that engages readers intellectually while also resonating with their own perspectives and experiences. Moreover, grappling with the potential controversy surrounding certain beliefs requires a careful choice of language and a nuanced approach. Respectful consideration of diverse viewpoints is paramount, aiming for an essay that fosters understanding rather than division. • 15. The Theory Of Sexuality By Sigmund Freud Few topics evoke so much intrigue and bewilderment, discussion and silence as the concept of sexuality. It has simultaneously been the focus of scientific experimentation and theoretical debate since the emergence of the modern world. Traditional views designate sexuality as purposeful, which is to say that our sexual instinct compels us toward reproduction and the preservation of life. This parallels human sexualityto that of animals, an instinct that is genetically programmed into us for the purpose of copulation. This is made to seem analogous to the instinct of hunger or thirst and taking nourishment (15). In his book, Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality, Sigmund Freudchallenges these conventional views of the subject. While there are translational inconsistencies with his use of the word instinct, the term drive actually substantiates his theory. He argues that sexuality begins in childhood and can develop into a continuum of expressions that are shaped by experiences at the level of the body, and to a lesser extent, experiences in society. These impulses of the libidodrive all psychological activity. In this paper I will show that, according to Freud, sexuality is embedded in our bodily being without being instinctual because it can take many forms, it can be controlled or repressed and contains mental dispositions. Much of who we are is shaped from experiences that begin soon after birth and Freud argues that sexuality is no exception. The exploration of

Why It Is Important For Counselors If is important for counselors to be well trainee in interpretation and communication of results because if results are not communicated correctly and effectively there may be misperceived or misunderstood by the individual receiving the interpretation. This is a unique form of communication for counselors and the success of this is vital. Our textbook provides us with information explaining the importance and value of sharing test interpretations with the individual who took the assessment. Goodyear (1990) tentatively concludes that those individuals who received their test interpretation experienced greater results in counseling compared to those who did not receive interpretations. It can be challenging for counselors to break down these results in a way that the individuals taking the assessment can understand and relate to so it critical that counselors receive more training to develop these skills. If test results are not communicated effectively or are misperceived it could cause serious confusion for the individual and significantly impact the way they view themselves and their abilities. Test results can be difficult to understand especially if terminology you are using becomes confusing or is misunderstood by the client. As the book states we need to be comfortable communicating and interpreting the results before we begin to share with the client so that when we are delivering the results we are able to focus on the clients reactions and questions rather

People strive to fit into the society around them. In doing this they often suppress some aspects of their desires. After giving into desire once, the need for it may increase, and control may slowly decrease. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde explores the multi faceted dimensions of the human psyche. From pre conception to the first two years of life, it is crucial for a child to get the proper nutrients essential for their development: One of the serious consequences of stunting is particularly impaired cognitive development. The objective of Zionists was to elevate the Jewish people from their oppressed past, to reverse the course of Jewish history which had been characterized by persecution and exile. They sought, in the extremes, to break with Jewish history entirely and create a modern version of the Hebrew nation. On the whole, however, Zionists intended to reshape Jewish life by synthesizing Jewish tradition and history with modern ideology (Dowty, 1998). This movement was colored by international shifts in Jewish communities at the end of the century. From 1880 to 1914, for example, 2.5 million Jews were forced out of Russia, though of those only 70,000 settled in the Yishuv, the pre state Jewish community in Palestine. The Argument Against Burning The American Flag The citizens of this great nation, The United States of America, should uphold, have respect, have gratitude, and have honor when it comes to dealing this great nation s beautiful flag. The people of this great nation who decide to set fire to Old Glory could face some major consequences. Some of these consequences may come in a variety of forms, such as fire hazards, riots, and sometimes even death. One of the main arguments against burning our great nation s flag is that the people who have fought for the American flag and all that it stands for, tend to feel disrespected. The article Flag Burning Amendment states that Burning the nation s flag shows disrespect to America . It provokes feelings of anger and disgust. But punishing citizens for using their personal property to express their personal views violates the very ideas that animate our constitution with meaning . Furthermore there are some people that believe the American flag should not be considered someone s personal property, but perhaps it should considered as the government s property instead. It should be held in high regard like some people s bibles or other religious items. The American flag should also be considered a very sacred item. Obviously flag burning is a fire hazard that can have a very harmful outcome to the environment and all of its surroundings. Others spoke out in poetry or publications or used their position in court to express the pain and need for a revolution. These factors were a key part of why so many fought for change, so they could right the wrongs that had been done to them for so long. The façade of equality that the government put forth affected those of race and those of the popular, poorer class. The P.I.C. was founded to fight back against the racial injustice that was being set forth by the government at the time; with their motto being an egalitarian, sovereign, and independent republic without racial divisions and social antagonisms. (PIC, 1). They wanted to lose the need for a division between the races and make sure there was representation for all Cubans. The popular class also suffered together at the hands of the elites, You imprison the poor wretch who steals because he is hungry; but none of the millions who steal millions from the government has ever spent a night in jail, Castro said. (Castro, 6). The poor are condemned for trying to
