Aromatherapy To Acupuncture
Although I have never personally ventured into the field of alternative medicine, I
have both friends and family that have, many who have experienced positive results.
From aromatherapy to acupuncture, my small, adventurous circle has tried and
reported on quite a few different methods. One of the more common forms of
alternative medicinereported across the country is acupuncture. This centuries old
method of pain relief targets the pressure points in our bodies in order to remove
build up pressure or previously existing pain. Originally adopted form traditional
Chinese medicinepractices (CTM), around 100 BC, acupuncture methods used today
in the US are directly adapted from this source. From China to Korea in the 6th
century AD, acupuncture
Analysis Of Thunder Boomed
Thunder boomed in the distance as I raced down the stone path. Rocks scrapped the
undersides of my feet as I sprinted across the surface, splitting the flesh of my heels.
He was coming. I knew he would. He always does. I push to increase my speed,
praying silently that the house would soon appear on the horizon. An overwhelming
need to reach the structure invaded my body as I propelled myself forward.
A slight silhouette of a building could finally be seen between the trees, allowing
hope to blossom in my chest.
Just as I felt that I could make it, my foot caught on a root. A slight scream escaped
my throat as I tumbled to the ground. Before I could even take a breath, he was upon
me. Everything was shrouded in the darkness beside his ... Show more content on

My last thought was, Why did he betray me?
I jolt awake, covered in sweat. My heart raced as I sit up in my bed, looking around
me. I take a deep, calming breath when I realize I am in my room. It was just a
dream, Aria, I thought to myself. I turn towards my clock and saw it was a little after
3 in the morning. I groaned, remembering I had school today.
I got up, knowing I wouldn t be able to get back to sleep. I turn on the shower and
stepped inside, letting the stinging warmth wash over me and erase the reminisce of
the nightmare. I ve had this dream many times before and it always resulted in me
never finding out who was under the cloak nor actually receiving the final blow. The
familiarity that I felt from the person also puzzled me. Was it someone that I knew?
I sigh, slightly shaking my head to clear my thoughts as I exit the shower and begin
drying off. For the next hour, I complete my morning routine and finish getting ready
for school.
After I finish applying my makeup, I pause to look up into the mirror. Soft black
waves of hair frame my pale skin, as light gray eyes stared back at me. Dark bags
littered the underside of my eyes, giving me a slight sick look.
Ugly.
I pull myself from my reflection and began to descend down the stairs. Once at the
bottom, I decide to make me some toast for breakfast.
I shove two pieces of bread into the toaster and waited patiently for it to finish as I

What Impact Did Walt Disney Have On The World
What impact did Walt Disney have on the world? Disney Channel, Disney junior,
and Disney XD is a television show for families. Disney Channel, Disney junior,
and Disney XD was created by Walter Elias Disney huge company. Walt Disney was
an American entrepreneur, animator, voice actor and film producer. Walter, also
known as Walt, was born on December 5, 1901, in Hermosa, Illinois. He won 22
Academy Awards, and was the founder of theme parks Disneyland (in Anaheim,
California) and Walt DisneyWorld (in Orlando,Florida). Walt attended McKinley
High School in Chicago, where he took drawing and photography classes and was
the cartoonist for his school newspaper. In the evening time, he took courses at the
Chicago Art Institute. When Walter was 16, he dropped out of school to join the
Army but was not able to because he didn t meet the age requirement. Instead of
joining the army, he joined the Red Cross (a company that helps people in need)
and was sent to France for a year to drive an ambulance; he stayed in France until
1919 where He moved back to the United States. In 1919, Disney moved to Kansas
City to pursue his dream as a newspaper artist. His brother Roy got him a job at the
Pesmen Rubin Art Studio, where he met cartoonist named Ubbe Eert Iwerks. From
there, Disney worked at the Kansas City Film Ad Company, where he made
commercials based on animation. Around this time, Disney began testing cameras ,

How Did Merce Cunningham Develop His Dance
Merce Cunningham followed the unique body movements and the use of contracting
and releasing, as well as the acceptance of gravity, that Martha Graham employs in
her choreography. He also infuses the technical aspects of ballet into his dance,
Cunningham has, however, developed his own, unique way to choreograph; a
technique in which he believes that danceshould be created. Cunningham s technique
is rather unorthodox, as he believes that the music should not dictate the dance, and
throws all notions of story and narrative out the window. Cunningham had a very
unique ideology in terms of how a dance was to be determined or performed, he
rolled dice to decide which way his dancers heads, arms, legs, and feet would
combine in a particular position,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This new, post modern style of dance emulates the separation that was created
between the original traditional dance form of Ballet, to Graham, and even farther to
Cunningham, who separates himself from not just the traditional form and technique,
but the narratives and the purpose which was set for dance; Cunningham goes so far
as to separate his dance from music, literally, practicing and creating a dance with a
stop watch, rather than music, only introducing the music in the actual performance.
Cunningham would certainly be considered avant garde in terms of dance, and the
traditions of story telling. His choreography shows an evolution and separation from
the beginning forms of the art, which is even more modern than the modern dance of
Graham. Graham s technique influenced Cunningham s style and technique in dance,
and he took her concept, which was to turn the idea of what dance should be, on its
head, and took it to a completely different realm. Graham asked why gravity and
body shapes and movements shouldn t be explored in dance; Cunningham asked why
Dance had to be so interconnected to music, why it should be tied to
Populist Leaders In The 20th Century
Populism was a leadership style that focused on mass politics and winning elections ,
it often also went hand in hand with many aspects of nationalism. This political
strategy focuses on social and economic improvement and is aimed at the urban
working and middle classes. Populism began to become popular in Latin America and
the United States, from the 1890s until the end of its hay day in Latin America in
the 1960s. There are many examples of Populist leaders throughout Latin American
history but I will argue that Lazaro Cardenas and Juan Peron are the most important
populist leaders in the region s history. Lazaro Cardenas used populist politics in
order to obtain a broad base of support from the urban and working classes, and
retained the Mexican presidency from 1934 until... Show more content on

Cardenas used the election campaign to build mass support by visiting each of the
states within Mexico, speaking to local chiefs and even the undesirable peasants
and working class. During his presidency he implemented progressive agrarian and
social reforms that saw over fifty million acres of land distributed to around eight
hundred thousand peasants over his presidency. While Cardena invested a great
deal of money into agricultural advancement and dispersion, he also did a great
deal in terms of social programs, such as bettering the education system as a large
population didn t have access to education. He also worked to expand the
availability of electricity to rural areas and to better the healthcare system for the
people. During his presidency along with his distribution of lands to peasants he
also nationalized foreign oil companies in order to create economic growth for the
people of Mexico. Juan Peron approached his populist presidency in Argentina a bit
differently, and used the radio to reach
Underage Drinking Essay
Imagine killing your best friend. Imagine smashing him into a telephone
pole, crushing his bones and organs and making him bleed to death. Imagine
the pain and suffering he would go through. Imagine then going on trial for
his death, facing his family and friends and the hateful stares as you walk
in the courtroom. Imagine a verdict of guilty and being sentenced to thirty
years in prison, thirty long years to sit alone and ponder how you could have
been so stupid to kill someone you love.
How would a night like this have begun? It probably began like the night
of a typical American teenager. You would go pick up a carload of your
closest friends and head to the party scene. You have a few drinks, maybe a
beer or two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now imagine your freshman year of high school. You get invited to that
huge senior party, so of course you go. There are a million different types
of drinks there and you are offered a beer by some upperclassmen. You take
it and chug it, trying to impress them. They offer you another and another,
until finally you pass out. You are put, unconscious in a chair and the
party goes on. The next morning someone tries to wake you, but you won t
open your eyes. They call 911 and you are taken to the hospital. You are
rushed into the ER and 10 minutes later are pronounced dead due to alcohol
poisoning.
This is how alcohol affects the teenagers of America today. It ruins
lives and not only the lives of those who drink. It affects their friends
and family. It even affects people they do not know, the thousands of people
that are killed each year by drunk drivers. Many teens think they are
invincible, that nothing will ever happen to them. They will never drink too
much or be in an accident. But many lives are taken away because of underage
drinking. These people are killed in an instant, squashed like bugs on a
windshield. They never get to grow up and fulfill their dreams. They become
that bum on the street, staggering around and yelling obscene comments. They
are like the stray dog that never really finds a place in life.
So what is the solution to this problem? Stop the underage drinking.
Americans today need to wait until
The Crime Of The Police
The police were not sure what crime had been committed, other than probably

they all assured them, that they felt sympathy but not like they were in jeopardy.

Using The Ual Libraries For Research
PPD:
I have learnt the value of using the UAL libraries for research for my essay. I feel
that it is a great resource to allow me access to books that would deepen my
understanding of the assignment by borrowing books about criticising
photography. It allowed me to explore many themes, I found that looking at
industry professionals work that could help me to broaden my argument and find
unexpected avenues to research and inform my ideas. I would also like to improve
with the essay how I find quotes, as I find it hard to sift through all the books in
order to find points that would be relevant in the writing process. I learnt that online
research is often not credible because of the originality of the sources but could be
useful as a starting point. I found some of the lectures useful in thinking about the
different aspects of the writing process because without them there would have been
things that I would have not considered. I found Showstudio, an incredible help
because it gave me direct insight into the details of Nick Knight s process towards a
final image and also different aspects of Alexander McQueen s vision. I enjoyed
analysing an image that did not have much information written about it because it
was only produced in March this year and so I really had to rely on my on dissection
of the image and quotes to bring out thought provoking points. However, I found that
the objective description of the image difficult because

Essay on Supersonic Flight
In 1943, Theodor Von Karman, in response to a request by US Air Force
headquarters, claimed that the realization of a supersonic aircraft would have been
doable using the right technology and tools. The fear of breaking the sound barrier
was finally removed in 1947, when the Captain Yaeger flew the Bell X 1 at a speed
slightly above Mach 1 for few seconds, producing the famous and long awaited sonic
boom(caused by an impulsive pressure change created by the sonic waves detaching
from the aircraft), music for the scientists attending that historical moment, but
current nightmare for the 21st Century supersonicvehicles designers [8].

The B 58 itself showed to the world that the possibility of a civilian SST was at
least worthy of accurate investigation and capital investments. Although the large
bomber implemented the supersonic efficient area ruling design first introduced by
Whitcomb (mid 1950s [1]) and therefore it could deliver a nuclear payload cruising
at Mach 2 for about two hours, the light and thin wings, designed for high altitude
flight and inefficient close to the ground at subsonic speed, highlighted a new set of
primary technical challenges to be addressed by a commercial SST: the realization
satisfactory structural design, the optimization of the wing aerodynamics for
subsonic flow, and related to the last point, the improvement of takeoff and landing
performance. A deadly crash at 1961 Paris air show summed up all the concerns
about safety issues related to a not optimal overall design [4].
Three civilian SST programs started in the 1960s: the successful Anglo French
Concorde, the somewhat failed Russian TU 144 and the short ten year long attempt
of the USA SST, all belonging to the category of what today is referred as first
generation supersonic transport.
Politics played a big role in the development of a SST in the post WWI years.
European countries were looking for a way to challenge America s leading position
in civil aviation. In particular, British and French governments, moved by
How Does Mary Shelley Use Robots In Frankenstein
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was an english novelist and poet, who is well known
for works such as Frankenstein and Prometheus. Shelley grew up during the
enlightenment period in england. This period was a period of question and
advancement in technology/ science. Shelley was always skeptical of this new
technology and in her novels such as Frankenstein she in directly warns people of
the dangers of what this new technology could do. Frankenstein is a novel about a
scientist named Victor Frankenstein. Victor brings to life a monster made from the
body parts of dead humans. Throughout the entire book this monster torments and

I Watched An Episode Of Dance Moms
For this assignment, I watched an episode of Dance Moms, a Lifetime reality
show about a dance team of young girls, their mothers, and their teacher. Earlier on
in the program s years, the show focused more on the life of a dancer, and the
commitment the each dancer had to make to compete. However in the most recent
episodes, such as the one I watched entitled Another One Bits the Dust the 28th
episode in season four, the focus seems to have shifted to more surface level cat
fights between the adults. Once one is able to get to know the characters, the drama
created from these altercations is absorbing and overpowering to the point where the
reality part of the show seems overly influenced by the conducts of the show s
producers and directors. With the use of classic character roles, creative filming, and
clever scene selections, the creators of DanceMoms tell a manipulated story of
competitive danceand all its participants, and direct the way they all are perceived in
order to keep the intended audience engaged, excited, and entertained with the show.
From the moment the episode starts, the classic good versus evil narrative begins,
and the characters are quickly established for those who might not be loyal watchers.
The opening few minutes showcase Abby Lee Miller. As the owner and director of
the Abby Lee Dance Company, Abby tells her students and their mothers who did the
best at the most recent competition, and who did the worst. She posts their faces in a

1.There are numerous fitness factors that are required for successful performance in
the sport of volleyball. Using the data from Figure 1, identify and analyse three
major fitness factors utilised in the game of volleyball. When are these most likely to
be used in a match?
Power is a crucial fitness factor in the game of volleyball. Upper body power is
necessary in order to execute common volleyball moves such as a serve or block but
also higher velocity shots, for example, a spike which travel at an average of 112
128km/hr. However, to even have the chance to perform a shot such as a spike or
block, the player must have enough lower body power to jump and reach above the

Training And Development Of Brazil
Brazil Training Development
Training in the workplace is very different in Brazil compared to America. For
instance, according to Xpert international manual workplace training is
predominantly voluntary, with no general statutory obligation on employers to
provide or finance training for their employees. In fact training in Brazil is often time
non existent. Many employers in Brazil do not place any resources, money, or time
into training their employees. According to the Monthly Employment Survey
conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, 34% of employees
have received skilled training.
Brazil s Training Concept
Companies in Brazil have some sort of an obligation to train their employees because
Brazil s education system is failing therefore their workforce base has less skilled
workers than other countries. Studies have even shown that workers in Latin
American countries like Brazil have less education than those in East Asia and
Eastern Europe. The percentage of students enrolled in high school is far lower
than in developed countries. In some correlation a lack of an educated workforce
has also lead to a workforce lead by un trained employees. In Brazil there are a lot of
people who work without any kind of training. Many employees who are trained
learn from their fathers, uncles, and other family members and they do things the
way that they did before. Over the course of a universal standpoint in Brazil there is
no formal training. In

2. Theory of International Trade
This paper aims to determine the benefits and consequences for Brazil in signing a
free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States through examining the problems in
the bilateral relation. Before going deeper into the specific situation between trade
relations between both countries, it is vital to understand why free trade matters. The
topic of free trade has been an ongoing and growing discussion over the last
decades. With the rapid growth of globalization, this topic is relevant in the majority
of countries around the world. Because of this, trade is a pertinent issue, particularly
in major economic powers as both Brazil and the United States are. The purpose of
this chapter is to explain the theory of trade and the benefits and consequences that it
provides countries that have open markets To do this, I will describe the theory of
comparative advantage, the Heckscher Ohlin (H O) model which provides a theory
on the gains and benefits of trade as well as the distributive effects that trade has on
the income of individuals in each country.
First, it is important to understand the theory of trade and its benefits. Despite the
growing popularity of the concept of free trade since the end of the 20th century, its
roots go back to classical economists. In his book, On the Principles of Political
Economy and Taxation, David Ricardo (1821) states:
Under a system of perfectly free commerce, each country naturally devotes its capital
and labour

/contract law part i offer unqualified.html TASK 1: P1: Identify the legal criteria for
offer and acceptance in a valid contract. What is a contract? A contract can either
be written implied or spoken agreement between two or more people legally
binding. Once contract has been the offeror will have to keeps promises provided in
the contract and the offeree will have to follow all the terms and condition in the
contract will. If one party fail to follow their obligation in the contract condition in
the contract they make take legal consequences. Verbal agreement: A verbal contract
is when two parties agrees through spoken word, therefore bound by talking with
each other also known as verbal agreement . This contract often happen between
family and friends. On the other hand, it can also happened to business people who
trust each other to agree to bind legally just by talking to each other. Written Contract:
A written contract is when detailed information about contract are included in a
document signed by each party. Written Contract are commonly used by business as
they are clear and concise which could help minimise litigation. For example, before
starting a job employees are given an employment contract that has all the terms and

Sign Here If You Exist By Jill Sisson Quinn
Austrian British philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein once said, The real question of
life after death isn t whether or not it exists, but even if it does what problem this
really solves. The idea that death is inevitable is well known by everyone, yet no
one is certain as to what happens afterwards. Even though the subject of life after
death has been argued for centuries by many philosophers and theologians. In the
article Sign Here If You Exist, Jill Sisson Quinn adequately employs figurative
language, rhetoricquestionings, and personal anecdotes to demonstrate a
controversial argument on the topic of life after death. In her article, Quinn uses
multiple figurative languages to strengthen her claim that life after death does not
exist. This is a very opinionated piece therefore using figurative language such as
metaphors, simile, diction and symbols help enhance the validity of the author s

The Joy That Kills By Kate Chopin
The Joy that Kills In Story of an Hour, Kate Chopin uses irony to emphasize her
theme of the unhappiness of women during this time period. The symbols and
imagery give the reader a sense of Mrs. Mallard s new life, a life filled with new
possibilities and endless opportunities. On the surface, the story, told within a few
pages and spanning only one hour of time, seems quite simple. It is the story of
Louise Mallard, a woman with a history of heart problems, who learns from her
sister and friend that her husband, Brently Mallard, has lost his life in a train wreck.
On instinct she weeps, before retiring to her room. Later, upon exiting her room and
descending the stairs, Louise is greeted by the site of her supposedly dead husband
entering the home. Louise immediately falls to her death, which the doctors accredit
to heart failure. Although seemingly simple, Chopin s The Story of an Houris actually
a deeply symbolic work, fraught with daring irony used to achieve major themes
of liberation and self awareness. The story opens with the major irony of the work.
Louise Mallard is described as having heart trouble , and news of her husband s
death is conveyed to her in broken sentences and veiled hints... revealed in half
concealing. (547) Louise plays the role in society of the delicate, fragile wife, and
consequently any strength or passion she possesses remains buried beneath layers of
repression. The figure on which she is supposed to be wholly dependent,
Harlem Renaissance Impact
The Harlem Renaissance was a movement of cultural appreciation of African
Americans looking for better life in the neighborhood of Harlem. Producing works in
music, literature, and art, stressing the importance of equality and appreciation
amongst their different cultures between Whites and Blacks. After The Migration,
very important figures of the time of the Harlem Renaissanceemerged such as
Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, Jean Toomer, Arna Bontemps, and Claude
McKay who contributed literary works which had large influences. The Harlem
Renaissance changed the lives of African Americans and viewpoints of their own
culture along with other cultures viewpoint of their own.
The Harlem Renaissance was a movement of new works in art and literature from
African Americans in New York from about 1910 to about 1940. Harlem was
originally a neighborhood consisting of white upper class people until the Great
Migration, when large numbers of African Americans flocked to Harlem, causing
some Whites to leave. The government in the South had made laws which stated
that Blacks could now own their own lands but instead, former laws were
reestablished, resulting in these blacks that had now owned land, in debt to former
owners, causing the creation of Sharecroppers. They were given a choice between
labor contracts which would fundamentally mean they were slaves once more or to
be evicted from their homes. Eventually, this caused the Great Migration. These
African Americans started migrating to the urban areas of the North to look for
better lives and to seek work from businesses looking for cheap labor. (
Sharecropping , 2010.)
In the 1920s, a vast majority of African Americans flocked to the North. Even though
the North still had segregation and inequalities, the South had far less economic
opportunities and mostly was involved in the business of Share Cropping which
largely caused the fleeing of African Americans, originally. The South still
participated in race riots, and the area was just far too dangerous for many blacks to
live. Businesses began looking for cheap laborers in which these African Americans
were going to provide when migrating from the rural South to the urban cities of the
North. The neighborhood
My Grandma Of The Old Folks Home
In 2011, I went to visit my grandma Camille in the old folks home. At that time she
was 82, and I was 17, and I was about to enter into my senior year of high school.
This was the last time I ever saw her. She had been living there for about a year and
a half, and I had been to see her a lot. But it was becoming a bit sadder with each
visit, partially because the place was full of people who were near the last stages
of their life. Even worse, with each visit I saw that my grandma health was in
decline and I didn t know how the handle that. When I saw her on this day, she was
very excited because they was having a gathering in the dining hall to celebrate the
4th of July. They were going the have ice cream along with some music. While I
was not very excited to tag along with Grandma to a 4th of July celebration when it
was not really the 4th, I knew she didn t want the miss the event so I said, Let s go!
My grandmother and I rolled over, and she introduced me to everyone as we
passed by saying, This is my granddaughter, and she going to be a senior in high
school next year. They all responded, Nice to meet you and That s nice. When all
the introductions had ended and we waited for the festivities to begin, I became one
of them. It was an uncomfortable situation at first and I remember thinking to myself
What did I get myself into? But as the party kick off into full gear with some people
dancing and others taking full advantage of the
Symbolism In The Grave By Katherine Anne Porter
Abraham Lincoln said, You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading
it today. Often times in our society young people push off responsibilities, it s easy to
do. Technology and other innovations have made it convenient for us to become
distracted and to push things off. However when growing up, sometimes taking
responsibility cannot be avoided. In coming of age stories, the author uses symbolism
to exemplify how the protagonists experience new independence and responsibility
while they transition from childhoodto adulthood.
An example of this can be found in the short story, The Grave, written by Katherine
Anne Porter. In this short story two young kids, a brother and sister, go out
exploring in a graveyard. ...propped their twenty two Winchester rifles carefully
against the rail fence, climbed over and explored among the graves. (Porter 2) The
symbolism is the two kids climbing over the fence. The fence acts as the barrier
between the two worlds of childhood and adulthood. Them climbing over it
represents the transition that young kids go through when becoming adults. Later in
the story the brother kills a pregnant bunny. When they discover that the bunny was
about to have babies the sister feels guilt. She was quietly and terribly agitated,
standing with her rifle under her arm, looking down at the bloody heap. (Porter 11)
The reader can see that there is symbolism with the young girl holding the gun under
her arm and her looking down at the dead
Snapple Case
Snapple case 1. severity The severity of this of this problem is showing in exhibit
1. Where total case sales of the first 5 months of 1992 were 6,8 million the sales of
the first 5 months of 1993 were 15,3 million cases. So that s an increase of 225% in
sales. And when you look at figure 1 you can really see the severity of the
problem. Because normally the first five months are only 27,91% of the total sales
in a year. So normal sales volume would be 24,3 million cases. But if the increase
in demand stays at the same level in the second part of 1993 then total predicted
sales for all Snapple products will be 54,8 million cases. This large increase in sales
comes from Tea drinks which double and Fruit drinks that triple. And also... Show

4. Long term solutions Long term solutions are those that we feel cannot be
accomplished within a 3 month period. Outsourcing all production on the basis of
fixed contracts has proven to be inflexible and Snapple would be wise to invest in
its own production facility. Part of the outsourced work could then be handled by
themselves and it would also allow them to handle peak demands by increasing the
utilization and temporarily producing extra output. This solution has been derived
from Fisher s article on functional vs. innovative products. For a product
characterized by unpredictable demand, a market responsive supply chain is
recommended (Fisher, M. Harvard Business School Publishing). Such a supply chain
is more able to respond to unpredictable demand to minimize stock outs, which has
become the problem for Snapple. Their current supply chain is what Fisher calls
Physically efficient , and does not match the product. Because demand is so volatile,
a solution could be to adjust yearly forecasts more often, for instance monthly. This
would allow Snapple to bring production more in line with demand. However, the
question is whether the independent production companies are able to cope with a
monthly change in production quantity, in stead of a yearly one. Decentralization in
decision making should be the long term goal. Different markets require different
approaches and
Analysis Of I Am Legend
I am Legend
Almost all stories with the genre dystopian can relate back to the theme loss of
humanity in some way. The dystopian movie I am Legend does not break the
stereotype, with this dystopian story being told with loss of humanity as the plot.
The movie was directed by Francis Lawrence, he is most well known for his work
with dystopian movies, especially in his work on the Hunger Games series, Britney
Spears Movie, and I am Legend. This movie takes place in New York City, with the
city abandoned all but the main character Robert and the monsters that only come out
in the dark. Robert is immune to the disease that turns people into these monsters,
staying in the city so he can find a cure. The movie I am Legend used heroism,
multiple symbols, and narrative transport to represent the theme loss of humanity.
The butterfly is one symbol from the movie that connects to the theme loss of
humanity. The butterfly was used multiple times in the movie, to show that
regardless of this scenario that the main character Robert is in, there is always
hope and from the ugly world there can be something beautiful. The butterfly is
first shown in the movie when Roberts daughter was playing with a butterfly, this
scene was a flashback to show that there was life at one time that had hope in it.
Near the end of the movie, Robert is trapped in his lab with only a sheet of glass
between himself and a mob of monsters. When the monsters keep hitting the glass,
the breaks in the glass made
Essay on Attacks on the US Embassies in Kenya and
Tanzania
On August 7, 1998, two U.S. embassies were attacked almost simultaneously. One
was in Nairobi, Kenya and the other in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The attack in
Kenya involved both a truck bomb and at least two suicide bombers. The truck was
at the back entrance of the embassy when the bomb went off, and the damage was
critical. This attack had more casualties than the bombing in Tanzania because the
truck that contained the bomb was able to get into the inner embassy compound.
Also, the Nairobi embassy was close to the center of the city which was more
populated and led to more deaths. The U.S. embassy was not the only building
affected in the explosion. The Ufundi building and the Cooperative Bank which were

ambassador that was injured in the bombing. She had been meeting outside with
Joseph Kamotho, Kenya s trade minister. Their first thought from hearing the
smaller blast was that it must be the noise from construction. Another victim, Linda
Howard, witnessed the explosion around 10:40 A.M. She was on the fourth floor
of the United States Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya and was in a meeting. Soon after
she heard the small explosion, she suddenly realized that all of the windows were
currently being blasted, the roof was caving in, and smoke seemed to appear from
every direction. Before she had analyzed what was going on, she was being yelled
at by Embassy guards to get down on the floor. After fifteen minutes of crawling
around without being able to see, they had reached the ground floor. What Howard
saw next terrified her. She saw lifeless bodies, fires everywhere, and the screams of
terrified people. Bill Bar who is director of the U.S. Information Service in Kenya,
was also at the same meeting as Linda Howard. He also recalls hearing a thump and
thought it was possibly the sound of a grenade being thrown at the embassy. Some
also recall hearing gunfire outside of the embassy before the big explosion. Al Qaeda
is the international terrorist group responsible for these two attacks. The mastermind
behind the attacks was named Fazul Abdullah Mohammed. He was recruited by
Osama Bin Laden who was a Saudi millionaire. Osama was the leader that funded
and supported Al Qaeda. For
The Problem Of Drug Trafficking
The US/ Mexico borderlands are the site of a number of flows of goods, people,
and ideas over the last century. The US is attempting to increase the flow of some
goods such as food, but restricting others like illegal immigration and drug
trafficking. The US has been trying to stop drug smugglers and illegal immigration
by setting some policies. When Salinas became the president of Mexico, his number
one priority was to stop drugtrafficking and smugglingit into the US so both
countries could sit and talk about NAFTA (North American Free Trade
Agreement). Drug trafficking was and still is the number one problem in Mexico.
During Salina s six year term in office, arrests nearly doubled, prominent traffickers
were jailed, and principal figures in the Camarena case were convicted. (Andreas)
The Salina s antidrug offensive helped pacify US critics and paved the way for the
passage of NAFTA. But this agreement did not stop drug smugglers, it actually
encouraged more drug related corruption. As more government resources were
devoted to drug control, smugglers responded by devoting more resources to
paying off those doing the controlling. (Andreas) The NAFTA was consider a
success in the early years, US Government thought that Salina s government did
very good and it was going to stop drug trafficking. It was not until later that they
realized NAFTA was not as good as it looked, Mexican trucks were able to cross the
border with food without being checked by the US police, so
The French Revolution And The Revolution
French Revolution
As the Enlightenment began in the middle of the 17th century, people began to use
reason rather than stick to tradition. New Enlightenment ideas spread throughout
Europe such as ideas on government. Enlightenment thinkers such as Rousenan
believed that the best government was one formed with the general consent of the
people. Other Enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaireand Montesquieu believed in
freedom of speech and a separation of power within the government. All of these
ideas led to the French revolution. During the time period France was still an absolute
monarchy under King Louis XVI, causing people to want change by implying new
Enlightenment ideas. The revolution in France broke out in 1789 do to social,
economical, and political issues including the growth of bourgeoisies, taxes were paid
unevenly throughout the three Estates of France, and the Third Estate s desire for a
representative government.
One of the many social issues that led to the French revolution was the growth of
bourgeoisies in France. Bourgeoisies were middle class workers who were able to
read and write but ended up paying all of the taxes in France. With the literary skills,
the bourgeoisies read and understood Enlightenment ideas on government. The
French people wanted a government in which their voice was heard instead of the
First and Second Estates. Historian Albert Mathiez claims that the middle class
would have to be the ones to affect change in France based off

Regulatory Agencies Vs Independent Agencies
For the first time in recent memory, the Senate Homeland Security and
Governmental Affairs Committee this fall approved several bipartisan regulatory
reform bills, setting the stage for serious consideration of reform in the New Year.
Two of the bills address a key gap in the federal regulatory process by encouraging
independent regulatory agencies that aren t part of the executive branch to conduct
more thorough economic analysis before issuing regulations. Numerous independent
agencies can impose restrictions on prices, entry into markets, disclosures or contract
terms. Yet agencies often conduct little or no economic analysis to identify the need
for, or effects of, restrictions before they re adopted. So agencies can impose massive
mandates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Constitution is a plan to help the government help the people. There are many
events that helped form the Constitution, but here are a few; Shay s Rebellion, The
Stamp, Sugar, and Quartering Acts, The Revolutionary War, and the First
Constitutional Convention. The Constitution once worked for the United States, but
we have since expanded. We have advanced technologically, we have a risk of an
aristocracy, and the Constitution doesn t give everyone representation.
With the advances in technology more false information is spread to the public
faster than it used to. Around the time the Constitution was established, they had
newspapers and town criers to spread the word. They didn t have as many sources
as we do now. Even though they didn t have many sources, false information still
got spread. Things have changed over the course of roughly 240 years but some

Military Drones Research
One of the strongest attributes of the UAV weapon systems is their precision and
accuracy on a target. UAV s have the ability to scan, track and monitor a target for
hours before ever engages a potential enemy. During that time, the decision to engage
is not left on the operator alone. The unique nature of this technology is that more
than one person has a vote in pulling the trigger. Due to these unique capabilities,
drones, according to many reports, inflict relatively low civilian casualtyrates.
(Williams, 2013) Critics use the subject of civilian casualtiesas an argument both for
and against the use of drones. From a purely statistical analysis and perspective, the
use of drones might be the safest and most precise way to strike... Show more content

During World War II, civilians were impacted by aerial bombardments on major
cities, in both Europe and Asia. The difference is a large aerial bombardment does
not feel as personal and direct as a drone strike. So victims of a drone strike actually
have an issue to complain about but, unfortunately, there is no one on the ground to
assist family members who are grieving their loss. The civilian casualty issue has less
to do with the raw data, that actually demonstrates drones are much safer than carpet
bombing a city or industrial complex.
The issue is public perception. Counterterrorism analysts and politicians have
reviewed data and conducted public opinion polls of those affected by the drone
strikes and found that overwhelmingly those polled view the use of drones
negatively (Bergen, P., 2011). In a 2009 Gallup Poll, only nine percent of Pakistani
s approved of the use of drone strikes. Analysts believe that this will lead to more of
the public taking sides with the terrorist or at least becoming sympathetic to the cause

The Locavore s Dilemma By Christophe Pelletire

are coffee beans readily available within that area? What about chocolate or coco,

this have on people who come to visit and have to eat food that is only local food? In

just want to get home and relax, but you remember you have a ton of homework to
do? This constantly happens to me all the time. A lot times I get homework from
multiple classes all in one day. Often after school I have sports which already takes
up enough time. Usually I get my assignments turned in on time, but to the expense of
spending time with friends or family. Sometimes when I get home and start doing my
homeworkI might struggle with the topic and there isn t a teacher there to help me, so
I m left trying to search for websites that might help me or ask my parents to help.
Having homework on a daily basis is causing problems for me, and I think
incorporating time in the school day can really help in solving this issue. There
are many causes to this problem. First of all many teacher feel that they need to
give homework to see if a student understands the lesson they are on. I understand
why teachers give homework for this reason however there are many other ways of
tracking a students understanding of a lesson like giving daily warm up questions
at the beginning of class. Another reason for homework is there isn t enough
dedicated time to do work at school. Teachers use homework to use for students
grades. There are many reasons for students receiving homework, but receiving
little to no homework could really be beneficial to students. Getting large amount
of homework has negatively affected me in many ways. In Is to Much Homework
Bad For Kid s Health? By Sandra Levy, it states communities who spend too much
time on homework experience more stress, physical health problems, a lack of
balance in their lives, and alienation from society. I find that homework causes me
a lot of stress. Many days I find myself up late at night trying to complete
homework, and this causes a lot of stress. The next day when I go to school I m
tired and get even more stressed. When I spend time doing homework outside of
school I spend less with family and friends. I often have trouble with balancing
homework, time with family, and athletics. To succeed in the future you need to learn
the skill of balancing things, but it s hard to learn it
The Effects Of Xanax On A Person s Health
There are many drugs in the world that can better a person s health. There are also
drugs that can worsen a person s health. If the patient takes the prescribed drug
correctly, than the drug should work, right? What if the patient takes the drug
correctly, but the problem is still not fixed?
The possibilities are endless with the controversial drug, Xanax. The purpose of
Xanax is to make the patient less anxious, but in most cases, it does not. There is a
bigger story behind
Xanax than most people know, it effects the body in many different ways, and it is
not recommended to take if not prescribed.
Xanax is a drug that treats anxiety, panic disorder, sleeplessness, and sometimes used
for short term relief of extreme stress. These medications can also calm patients in
danger of hurting themselves or hurting others, and soothe patients dealing with
tragic life events.
(go.galegroup.com, 1) Some people refer to Xanax as Alprazolam, which is the
generic, most often used brand, of the drug. Xanax belongs to the class of minor
tranquilizers known as benzodiazepines. Xanax comes in the form of a tablet, an
extended release tablet, and a concentrated solution. This drug is prescribed by a
doctor and comes with many rules. If the patient abuses the drug there is a high risk
of addiction. Many patients need 4 milligrams of the pill a day. Using that high of a
dosage may cause the patient to become addicted. If the patient discontinues the drug
too quickly, they could go through

  • 2. Aromatherapy To Acupuncture Although I have never personally ventured into the field of alternative medicine, I have both friends and family that have, many who have experienced positive results. From aromatherapy to acupuncture, my small, adventurous circle has tried and reported on quite a few different methods. I turn on the shower and stepped inside, letting the stinging warmth wash over me and erase the reminisce of the nightmare. How Did Merce Cunningham Develop His Dance Merce Cunningham followed the unique body movements and the use of contracting and releasing, as well as the acceptance of gravity, that Martha Graham employs in her choreography. He also infuses the technical aspects of ballet into his dance, Cunningham has, however, developed his own, unique way to choreograph; a technique in which he believes that danceshould be created. Cunningham s technique is rather unorthodox, as he believes that the music should not dictate the dance, and throws all notions of story and narrative out the window. Cunningham had a very unique ideology in terms of how a dance was to be determined or performed, he rolled dice to decide which way his dancers heads, arms, legs, and feet would combine in a particular position,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This new, post modern style of dance emulates the separation that was created between the original traditional dance form of Ballet, to Graham, and even farther to Cunningham, who separates himself from not just the traditional form and technique, but the narratives and the purpose which was set for dance; Cunningham goes so far as to separate his dance from music, literally, practicing and creating a dance with a stop watch, rather than music, only introducing the music in the actual performance. Cunningham would certainly be considered avant garde in terms of dance, and the traditions of story telling. His choreography shows an evolution and separation from the beginning forms of the art, which is even more modern than the modern dance of Graham. Graham s technique influenced Cunningham s style and technique in dance, and he took her concept, which was to turn the idea of what dance should be, on its head, and took it to a completely different realm. Graham asked why gravity and body shapes and movements shouldn t be explored in dance; Cunningham asked why Dance had to be so interconnected to music, why it should be tied to

After The Migration, very important figures of the time of the Harlem Renaissanceemerged such as Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, Jean Toomer, Arna Bontemps, and Claude McKay who contributed literary works which had large influences. The Harlem Renaissance changed the lives of African Americans and viewpoints of their own culture along with other cultures viewpoint of their own. The Harlem Renaissance was a movement of new works in art and literature from African Americans in New York from about 1910 to about 1940. Harlem was originally a neighborhood consisting of white upper class people until the Great Migration, when large numbers of African Americans flocked to Harlem, causing some Whites to leave. The government in the South had made laws which stated that Blacks could now own their own lands but instead, former laws were reestablished, resulting in these blacks that had now owned land, in debt to former owners, causing the creation of Sharecroppers. They were given a choice between labor contracts which would fundamentally mean they were slaves once more or to be evicted from their homes. Eventually, this caused the Great Migration. These African Americans started migrating to the urban areas of the North to look for better lives and to seek work from businesses looking for cheap labor. ( Sharecropping , 2010.) In the 1920s, a vast majority of African Americans flocked to the North. Even though the North still had segregation and inequalities, the South had far less economic opportunities and mostly was involved in the business of Share Cropping which largely caused the fleeing of African Americans, originally. The South still participated in race riots, and the area was just far too dangerous for many blacks to live. Businesses began looking for cheap laborers in which these African Americans were going to provide when migrating from the rural South to the urban cities of the North. The neighborhood

At that time she was 82, and I was 17, and I was about to enter into my senior year of high school. This was the last time I ever saw her. She had been living there for about a year and a half, and I had been to see her a lot. But it was becoming a bit sadder with each visit, partially because the place was full of people who were near the last stages of their life. Even worse, with each visit I saw that my grandma health was in decline and I didn t know how the handle that. When I saw her on this day, she was very excited because they was having a gathering in the dining hall to celebrate the 4th of July. They were going the have ice cream along with some music. While I was not very excited to tag along with Grandma to a 4th of July celebration when it was not really the 4th, I knew she didn t want the miss the event so I said, Let s go! My grandmother and I rolled over, and she introduced me to everyone as we passed by saying, This is my granddaughter, and she going to be a senior in high school next year. They all responded, Nice to meet you and That s nice. When all the introductions had ended and we waited for the festivities to begin, I became one of them. It was an uncomfortable situation at first and I remember thinking to myself What did I get myself into? But as the party kick off into full gear with some people dancing and others taking full advantage of the
  • 27. Symbolism In The Grave By Katherine Anne Porter Abraham Lincoln said, You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today. Often times in our society young people push off responsibilities, it s easy to do. Technology and other innovations have made it convenient for us to become distracted and to push things off. However when growing up, sometimes taking responsibility cannot be avoided. In coming of age stories, the author uses symbolism to exemplify how the protagonists experience new independence and responsibility while they transition from childhoodto adulthood. An example of this can be found in the short story, The Grave, written by Katherine Anne Porter. In this short story two young kids, a brother and sister, go out exploring in a graveyard. ...propped their twenty two Winchester rifles carefully against the rail fence, climbed over and explored among the graves. (Porter 2) The symbolism is the two kids climbing over the fence. The fence acts as the barrier between the two worlds of childhood and adulthood. Them climbing over it represents the transition that young kids go through when becoming adults. Later in the story the brother kills a pregnant bunny. When they discover that the bunny was about to have babies the sister feels guilt. She was quietly and terribly agitated, standing with her rifle under her arm, looking down at the bloody heap. (Porter 11) The reader can see that there is symbolism with the young girl holding the gun under her arm and her looking down at the dead
  • 28. Snapple Case Snapple case 1. severity The severity of this of this problem is showing in exhibit 1. Where total case sales of the first 5 months of 1992 were 6,8 million the sales of the first 5 months of 1993 were 15,3 million cases. So that s an increase of 225% in sales. And when you look at figure 1 you can really see the severity of the problem. Because normally the first five months are only 27,91% of the total sales in a year. So normal sales volume would be 24,3 million cases. But if the increase in demand stays at the same level in the second part of 1993 then total predicted sales for all Snapple products will be 54,8 million cases. This large increase in sales comes from Tea drinks which double and Fruit drinks that triple. And also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 4. Long term solutions Long term solutions are those that we feel cannot be accomplished within a 3 month period. Outsourcing all production on the basis of fixed contracts has proven to be inflexible and Snapple would be wise to invest in its own production facility. Part of the outsourced work could then be handled by themselves and it would also allow them to handle peak demands by increasing the utilization and temporarily producing extra output. This solution has been derived from Fisher s article on functional vs. innovative products. For a product characterized by unpredictable demand, a market responsive supply chain is recommended (Fisher, M. Harvard Business School Publishing). Such a supply chain is more able to respond to unpredictable demand to minimize stock outs, which has become the problem for Snapple. Their current supply chain is what Fisher calls Physically efficient , and does not match the product. Because demand is so volatile, a solution could be to adjust yearly forecasts more often, for instance monthly. This would allow Snapple to bring production more in line with demand. However, the question is whether the independent production companies are able to cope with a monthly change in production quantity, in stead of a yearly one. Decentralization in decision making should be the long term goal. Different markets require different approaches and
  • 29. Analysis Of I Am Legend I am Legend Almost all stories with the genre dystopian can relate back to the theme loss of humanity in some way. The dystopian movie I am Legend does not break the stereotype, with this dystopian story being told with loss of humanity as the plot. The movie was directed by Francis Lawrence, he is most well known for his work with dystopian movies, especially in his work on the Hunger Games series, Britney Spears Movie, and I am Legend. This movie takes place in New York City, with the city abandoned all but the main character Robert and the monsters that only come out in the dark. Robert is immune to the disease that turns people into these monsters, staying in the city so he can find a cure. The movie I am Legend used heroism, multiple symbols, and narrative transport to represent the theme loss of humanity. The butterfly is one symbol from the movie that connects to the theme loss of humanity. The butterfly was used multiple times in the movie, to show that regardless of this scenario that the main character Robert is in, there is always hope and from the ugly world there can be something beautiful. The butterfly is first shown in the movie when Roberts daughter was playing with a butterfly, this scene was a flashback to show that there was life at one time that had hope in it. Near the end of the movie, Robert is trapped in his lab with only a sheet of glass between himself and a mob of monsters. When the monsters keep hitting the glass, the breaks in the glass made

One was in Nairobi, Kenya and the other in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The attack in Kenya involved both a truck bomb and at least two suicide bombers. The truck was at the back entrance of the embassy when the bomb went off, and the damage was critical. This attack had more casualties than the bombing in Tanzania because the truck that contained the bomb was able to get into the inner embassy compound. Also, the Nairobi embassy was close to the center of the city which was more populated and led to more deaths. The U.S. embassy was not the only building affected in the explosion. Another victim, Linda Howard, witnessed the explosion around 10:40 A.M. She was on the fourth floor of the United States Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya and was in a meeting. Soon after she heard the small explosion, she suddenly realized that all of the windows were currently being blasted, the roof was caving in, and smoke seemed to appear from every direction. Before she had analyzed what was going on, she was being yelled at by Embassy guards to get down on the floor. After fifteen minutes of crawling around without being able to see, they had reached the ground floor. What Howard saw next terrified her. She saw lifeless bodies, fires everywhere, and the screams of terrified people. Bill Bar who is director of the U.S. Information Service in Kenya, was also at the same meeting as Linda Howard. He also recalls hearing a thump and thought it was possibly the sound of a grenade being thrown at the embassy. Some also recall hearing gunfire outside of the embassy before the big explosion. The US is attempting to increase the flow of some goods such as food, but restricting others like illegal immigration and drug trafficking. The US has been trying to stop drug smugglers and illegal immigration by setting some policies. When Salinas became the president of Mexico, his number one priority was to stop drugtrafficking and smugglingit into the US so both countries could sit and talk about NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement). Drug trafficking was and still is the number one problem in Mexico. During Salina s six year term in office, arrests nearly doubled, prominent traffickers were jailed, and principal figures in the Camarena case were convicted. (Andreas) The Salina s antidrug offensive helped pacify US critics and paved the way for the passage of NAFTA. But this agreement did not stop drug smugglers, it actually encouraged more drug related corruption. As more government resources were devoted to drug control, smugglers responded by devoting more resources to paying off those doing the controlling. (Andreas) The NAFTA was consider a success in the early years, US Government thought that Salina s government did very good and it was going to stop drug trafficking. It was not until later that they realized NAFTA was not as good as it looked, Mexican trucks were able to cross the border with food without being checked by the US police, so
  • 32. The French Revolution And The Revolution French Revolution As the Enlightenment began in the middle of the 17th century, people began to use reason rather than stick to tradition. New Enlightenment ideas spread throughout Europe such as ideas on government. Enlightenment thinkers such as Rousenan believed that the best government was one formed with the general consent of the people. Other Enlightenment thinkers such as Voltaireand Montesquieu believed in freedom of speech and a separation of power within the government. All of these ideas led to the French revolution. During the time period France was still an absolute monarchy under King Louis XVI, causing people to want change by implying new Enlightenment ideas. The revolution in France broke out in 1789 do to social, economical, and political issues including the growth of bourgeoisies, taxes were paid unevenly throughout the three Estates of France, and the Third Estate s desire for a representative government. One of the many social issues that led to the French revolution was the growth of bourgeoisies in France. Bourgeoisies were middle class workers who were able to read and write but ended up paying all of the taxes in France. With the literary skills, the bourgeoisies read and understood Enlightenment ideas on government. The French people wanted a government in which their voice was heard instead of the First and Second Estates. Historian Albert Mathiez claims that the middle class would have to be the ones to affect change in France based off

Regulatory Agencies Vs Independent Agencies For the first time in recent memory, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee this fall approved several bipartisan regulatory reform bills, setting the stage for serious consideration of reform in the New Year. Two of the bills address a key gap in the federal regulatory process by encouraging independent regulatory agencies that aren t part of the executive branch to conduct more thorough economic analysis before issuing regulations. Numerous independent agencies can impose restrictions on prices, entry into markets, disclosures or contract terms. Yet agencies often conduct little or no economic analysis to identify the need for, or effects of, restrictions before they re adopted. So agencies can impose massive mandates... The civilian casualty issue has less to do with the raw data, that actually demonstrates drones are much safer than carpet bombing a city or industrial complex. The issue is public perception. Counterterrorism analysts and politicians have reviewed data and conducted public opinion polls of those affected by the drone strikes and found that overwhelmingly those polled view the use of drones negatively (Bergen, P., 2011). Essential to the esteem set on independence are the convictions that people can pull themselves up by their bootstraps and that a person s rights are more critical than a society s (Davis, 1999). Be that as it may, many societies don t share the power of the estimation of independence. This constantly happens to me all the time. A lot times I get homework from multiple classes all in one day. Often after school I have sports which already takes up enough time. Usually I get my assignments turned in on time, but to the expense of spending time with friends or family. Sometimes when I get home and start doing my homeworkI might struggle with the topic and there isn t a teacher there to help me, so I m left trying to search for websites that might help me or ask my parents to help. Having homework on a daily basis is causing problems for me, and I think incorporating time in the school day can really help in solving this issue. There are many causes to this problem. First of all many teacher feel that they need to give homework to see if a student understands the lesson they are on. I understand why teachers give homework for this reason however there are many other ways of tracking a students understanding of a lesson like giving daily warm up questions at the beginning of class. Another reason for homework is there isn t enough dedicated time to do work at school. Teachers use homework to use for students grades. There are many reasons for students receiving homework, but receiving little to no homework could really be beneficial to students. Getting large amount of homework has negatively affected me in many ways. In Is to Much Homework Bad For Kid s Health? The possibilities are endless with the controversial drug, Xanax. The purpose of Xanax is to make the patient less anxious, but in most cases, it does not. There is a bigger story behind Xanax than most people know, it effects the body in many different ways, and it is not recommended to take if not prescribed. Xanax is a drug that treats anxiety, panic disorder, sleeplessness, and sometimes used for short term relief of extreme stress. These medications can also calm patients in danger of hurting themselves or hurting others, and soothe patients dealing with tragic life events. Xanax comes in the form of a tablet, an extended release tablet, and a concentrated solution. This drug is prescribed by a doctor and comes with many rules. If the patient abuses the drug there is a high risk of addiction. Many patients need 4 milligrams of the pill a day. Using that high of a dosage may cause the patient to become addicted. If the patient discontinues the drug too quickly, they could go through
