Education And Career Goals Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Education and Career Goals" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty lies in the need to articulate your aspirations and plans concisely while
showcasing your unique qualities and experiences. It requires a delicate balance between personal
reflection and professional objectives.
To start, one must delve into introspection, reflecting on past achievements, challenges faced,
and the transformative power of education. Defining career goals demands foresight and a
strategic approach, contemplating the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the chosen
field. The challenge is to narrate these insights coherently, creating a narrative that is not just
informative but also engaging.
Additionally, the essay should address how your educational journey aligns with your career
ambitions. This requires research into potential educational paths, institutions, and programs.
Communicating this alignment effectively is crucial, as it demonstrates a clear understanding of
the steps required to achieve your goals.
The essay's structure is another hurdle, demanding a logical flow that guides the reader through
your past, present, and future. It must strike a balance between humility and confidence,
showcasing achievements without sounding boastful and acknowledging challenges without
sounding defeated.
Moreover, the challenge extends to tailoring the essay for specific audiences, whether it be
academic institutions or potential employers. Each essay must be customized to align with the
values and expectations of the intended reader, adding another layer of complexity to the writing
process.
In conclusion, while composing an essay on "Education and Career Goals" presents challenges, it
is a valuable exercise in self-reflection and goal-setting. The ability to articulate your ambitions
clearly is an essential skill in both academic and professional spheres.

The Background Of The Nestle Company
The Background of the Organisation
The NestlГ© history begins back to 1886, when he first man, a European condensed
milk factory was opened in Cham, Switzerland, by the Anglo Swiss Condensed Milk
Company. In 1867, the founder Henri NestlГ©, a German pharmacist, established
new product of cow s milk, wheat flour and sugar in Vevey, Switzerland. Henri
NestlГ©, himself an immigrant from Germany, was instrumental in turning his
Company towards international expansion from beginning. We owe more than our
name, our logo and our first infant food product to our founder. Henri NestlГ©

In 1977, it acquired Alcon Laboratories, manufacturer of pharmaceutical and

Health Organization Code and apply throughout the whole operating systems. In
1986, another new product was launched, Nespresso. This product was begun with a
simple idea: anyone was able to create a perfect espresso coffee.
In 1988, an Italian brand Buitoni became part of NestlГ© s portfolio. In the same
year, there was a boycott of a group of organization in United Kingdom against
NestlГ©. Later, as a result of our inclusion in the responsible investment index
FTSE4Good in 2011, the United Reformed Churches ended their support for this
boycott. By this time, a lot of other important stakeholders had already ended their
support for it, including the General Synod of the Church of England, the Royal
College of Midwives, and the Methodist Ethical Investment Committee.
In 1993, NestlГ© opened up the new markets in Central and Western Europe, as well
as China. The company partnered with the Ralston Purina Company, to create a new
pet food company, NestlГ© Purina PetCare Company. In 2002, there were two

Factors for Your Personal Credit Score
In my research I found that three companies are used in the United States as the
primary determiners for credit score. The companies that determine credit score are
Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. The components I discovered that make up your
personal credit score are: Payment History, Lines of New Credit, How much you
owe, and finally length of credit historywith other factors as well rounding out the
table. Payment history makes up the largest percentage at Thirty Five percent.
They use your past behavior in determining what you will do in the future. This is
considered the most important factor in calculating credit scores because if they
do not have data to show how you have performed in the past that might be
misleading and could lead to someone with terrible credit in the past to open many
new credit cards. They take into account the two types of loans, revolving and
installment. Revolving loans are the types that always fluctuate, like opening new
charge card accounts. Installments are paid back in portions like if you have
payments to make on a car lease or mortgaging a home. If you default on a loan it is
not always going to result in identical damage to your credit score. The amount of
damage to defaulting is determined by the size of the installment. If you are working
on boosting your credit to a higher rating, you should always pay on or by the due
date.
The second biggest component to a credit score is the debt amounts. Debt amounts

Galilee Basin Research Paper
A controversial topic commonly debated among society is the construction of coal
mines. Although they potentially contain great economic promise and access to more
resources, they also harm the surrounding environment and increase carbon dioxide
emissions.
A specific example of a possible excavation site is the Galilee Basin, located in
western Queensland. The Galilee Basin is an untapped coal reservoir that spans
across 247,000 square kilometres of land and is home to five mines approved for
construction and one mine waiting for approval by the Queensland Government.
The mines themselves will bring many job opportunities for rural and urban
Queenslanders, as they are forecasted to create a total of 28,000 jobs, 15,000 of
which will be in the construction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite these many benefits, the coal mines also proposes many environmental
issues, the first of which would be the effect that they would have on the
neighbouring Great Barrier Reef. The increased production of carbon dioxide would
increase the rate of ocean acidification in the Great Barrier Reef, a UNESCO site
that is already suffering from many other pollution and destruction issues. However
ocean acidification would only be a secondary effect of the coal mines, as the
primary concern would be runoff of sediment from the mines that would leak into the
reef, polluting it even further.
It is predicted that Australia s carbon dioxide emissions would double if these
mines were to be built, from 357.5 tonnes to 750 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
Additionally, many of these mines will require additional train rails to be constructed
for the purpose of transporting the mined goods to proposed ports on the coast of

During the course of this class, we identified organized crime groups throughout the
world to include the Unites States and our southern neighbor, Mexico. Narcotics
trafficking, prostitution, extortion, and murder are a huge part of the illegal activities
controlled by these various groups. For this particular project, my focus will be on
the organized crimegroup identified as Los Zetas.
In the journal, Small Wars and Insurgencies, I read an article written by Lisa J.

Their tactics are brutal and consist of beheadings, dismemberments, and gruesome

Los Zetas are also known for their sophisticated operations, which is broken down
into three distinct phases. Phase one is the production of drugs in Mexico or the
introduction of drugs from other countries within Central America. Phase two is the
transportation of drugs into the US by ways of rail cars, trucks, boats, or rafts to
cross the river. Phase three is the distribution of drugs from wholesale or bulk
quantities of small retail packages for distribution to the streets. One of the major
facilitating shipments for Los Zetas operations is San Antonio due to the vast amount
of highway network within the city.
Los Zetas utilize any and all resources at their disposal. They use everything from
young kids on streets as look outs to high tech equipment for surveillance and counter

Everyday Use By Alice Walker
In the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker, the author describes different
ideas about one s heritage. Culture and heritage is at the main point of the story
Everyday Use by Alice Walker as symbolized by the quilt. The bond that Mother
and Maggie share is brought by their common talent to make works of art like
quilts. Dee does not have similar capacity because she does not appreciate manual
labor nor believes in her heritage. The idea of pride in culture, heritage, and familyis
the main theme of the story. The line between being proud of whom one is and
exploiting one s self is broken and blurred by one character. The other two keep their
firm ground in living out their values, rather than using it simply as a conversation
starter.
An African American single mother raises two daughters that have different
meanings of life and heritage. Maggie is the youngest daughter, the girl who is shy
who is not attractive and is pleased with her culture and life. Then there is Dee the
girl who is attractive, sophisticated and knows what she wants in life and wants to be
something more than her family. Even though Dee is sophisticated she does not
know the true importance of heritage. This is what starts struggle between mother
and Dee, because Dee desires the quilt for decoration which her mother would not
give it to her for that reason. The mother believes the quilt is not for ornamenting it is
more meaningful and signifies the heritage of her family. Only Maggie can transmit

Barbie and cultural aspects: Diffusion and failure
Originating from the concept that different ethnic groups can have their very own
stereotyped ideals of beauty, in a strategy of expanding the global reach of Barbie line
to different cultures, Mattel came up with multi cultural Barbie, i.e. Barbie with
different backgrounds, for instance: the coloured Barbie was warmly greeted in
African, American, Hispanic, and Indian cultures. However, there was
controversy over approaches of Mattel in other markets, of which cultures
traditional Barbie dolls were not compatible with. Drawbacks were clearly seen in
Mattel s business in several overseas markets, to name but a few, ban on Barbie in
Malaysia due to its lack of Asian appearance; Barbie confistication in Iran because
of its non Islamic features (Ferrell 2007, 484), which go against their religion in
terms of women s image; Barbie rejection in China, a
Lab Report Titration
Abstract: In this experiment, our team analyzed an unknown acid and a sample of
vinegar solution by the process of titration using a 0.1 M sodium hydroxide solution
as the titrant, as this solution is a strong base. In addition, our team members used
phenolphthalein as indicator in the reaction.
Introduction: First of all, for this experiment our team made use of several
glassware, such as a buret, three 250 mL erlenmeyer flask, and a 10 mL flask.
Additional, we also used a buret clamp, a plastic bottle with stopper, sodium
hydroxide in form of pellets, potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP), phenolphthalein
as indicator, unknown acid and vinegar. The process of titration involves measuring
the exact volume of the known concertation (which in this case is sodium hydroxide)
that is required to react with a measured volume of an unknown concertation. Our
team used sodium hydroxide, since it is a common solution used in titration analysis
of samples containing a solute acid. Nevertheless, sodium hydroxide must be used
quickly, since this solution can react with carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and
its concentration will change with the time. In order to not add an excess of titrant
than the necessary for the reaction, our team made use of phenolphthalein as
indicator. This indicator in particular changes to a pale pink color from basic pH. On
the other hand, we also titrated a sample of vinegar with the same sodium hydroxide
solution, since vinegar is a dilute solution of acetic
Eating Habits And Culinary Practices
Food ways can be defined as: the eating habits and culinary practices of a people,
region, or historical period. My daily food ways consist of having three main
course meals throughout the day; Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. My current food
ways are based off what is available at the Lawrence dining hall and Sykes dining
hall. For breakfast I tend to always have the same foods every day, either being an
omelet, cereal, yogurt with granola, and the occasional banana. Considering being
a college student it s hard to come by a variety of foods you can have for breakfast
especially when you re in a rush to your next class. Lunch has become quite the
difficulty to keep on a regular schedule with my classes all being back to back
during lunch time. But, on the days I do have time for lunch I always have a big
bowl of salad consisting of some leafy greens, onions, celery, carrots, croutons, and
all topped with my favorite dressing balsamic vinaigrette. Dinnertime is my favorite
time of the day to eat because it s right after practice and everyone from the team is
all siting together scarfing down dishes after dishes of foodto replenish our staving
stomachs after a long practice. At dinner time, I always make sure to eat a protein
source and heavy carbohydrate to refuel my body so depending on what is
available I ll always have a wheat Italian sandwich wrap with some pasta. I also
make sure to have some fruit along with a small side salad. At the end of dinner,

Hashimoto Case Summary
Question: What is the appropriate therapy for treating hashimotos induced
hypothyroidism?
Background: An 83 year old female is taking her levothyroxine medication to help
treat her thyroid disorder induced by Hashimoto. She has been taking this medication
for thirty years. While always being adherent to taking her medication, she has never
really understood what Hashimoto thyroiditis actually is, or why levothyroxine is the
best choice of therapy for treating her hypothyroidism caused by the disease. She is
also positive for hypertension, GERD, and insomnia.
Response: Hashimoto s thyroiditis is characterized as a type of immune disorder and
is the leading cause of hypothyroidism in America.1 The gradual failure of the thyroid
is due to an autoimmune disorder that is causing glandular destruction.2 Thyroxine

the ages of 45 to 65 years old.2 Another epidemiologic study also showed a female
predominance of 10:1 to 20:1, and that the disease is more commonly seen in
women rather than men.2, 5 During this study, 102 families were chosen to be
observed and were made up of 540 individuals to determine if there is a significant
genetic component to Hashimoto thyroiditis.5 While a high percentage of adults who
had an autoimmune disorder such as trisomy 21 or Turner syndrome showed greater
risk for having Hashimoto thyroiditis, a small group of about 20 percent had an
indistinguishable clinical hypothyroidism much different from Hashimoto
thyroiditis.5 Finally, an analyses of genome linkage in families with Hashimoto
thyroiditis showed evidence that some loci, like chromosomes 6p and 12q, could be
harboring genes that are already linked to this

It will go down in history as the day Canadians stopped feeling so safe. In the early
hours of the morning on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, Michael Zehaf Bibeau, a 32
year old Canadian born Islam convert, fatally shot a soldier with a hunting rifle at the
National War Memorial in Ottawa before opening fire at nearby Parliament Hill.
Gunfire echoed through the hallowed halls of the Centre Block just inches away
from where the Canadian government was preparing to debate legislation that would
relax gun control regulations. This tragic incident has unsurprisingly ignited debate
about gun control laws in Canada, and sparked questions about the country s
supposed culture of safety and openness. While relatively rare in Canada, historical...

In addition, Bill C 150 made it illegal for criminals and the mentally unstable to
possess guns. In 1977, the House of Commons passed Bill C 51, establishing new
kinds of gun ownership permits called firearms acquisition certificates, which
increased barriers to access by requiring applicants to pass background checks. The
movement for stronger and more effective gun control was reinvigorated a decade
later in the aftermath of the worst shooting incident in Canadian history: the
Montreal Massacre. On December 6, 1989, twenty five year old Marc LГ©pine took
a sixty student engineering classroom hostage at Г‰cole Polytechnique with a
legally obtained Mini 14 hunting rifle. Expressing anti feminist sentiments, he
allowed fifty male students to safely exit the room before turning his gun on the
remaining nine women, killing six and wounding three. LГ©pine then continued his
carnage in the school s corridors, cafeteria, classrooms and offices, killing fourteen
women in total and injuring another fourteen people, including four men. Over the
next few years, public appeals for stricter gun control regulations grew increasingly
forceful, culminating in the 1995 Firearms Act, or Bill C 68. The Firearms Act
codified Canada s gun control laws as they exist today. Specifically, it implemented a
new federal licensing system, mandated the registration of all

McCandless through different points of view perceived from people close to him.
Despite the fact the Krakauer did not personally know Chris McCandless, Krakauer

such that it also introduces the significance behind them. These techniques help the
reader conclude the mystery behind Chris McCandless s journey. In the novel,
Krakauer mentions that Chris McCandless s changed his name to Alexander

Did the author consider that maybe these people shared exact or similar beliefs as
McCandless? However, I believe that this novel may have encouraged this type of
behavior by presenting Chris McCandless as an archetype for the idea of the way
you want to. From the details told by Gallien, Krakauer notes that Gallien was
concerned that Alex only contained a ten pound bag of rice, a rifle that was a .22
caliber and no ax, no bug dope, no snowshoes, and no compass that are essential to
survival in the wilderness. As analyzed in the dialogue between McCandless and
Gallien, McCandless appears as the type of person who believes that nothing is
inevitable. McCandless s journey can be seen as an act of bravery or idiotic
depending on your opinion, but this story also teaches society valuable lessons on
life. The story McCandless s lifestyle persuades society to examine and observe the
world from a different person s perspective. It is believed in Krakauer s novel that
McCandless alienated himself from society because he was upset to learn that his
father was a bigamist and others believed that he went to find himself through
exploration. His journey teaches the larger picture of life such as living life in a way
that makes you happy a message shown in journals written by McCandless. Although
he knew he was in danger he made no attempt to receive help and his journal entries

Foxtel Rebranding Essay
Foxtel Considers Rebranding but Not Likely to Happen Soon

immemorial, but its recent merger with News Corp s Fox Sports brings the
possibility of rebranding closer to actuality. The unification of the two companies was
announced in August of last year and was finally completed weeks ago, two months
earlier than anticipated.

It is reported to be a long term consideration but only after the newly merged
business completes its overhaul. News Corp Australasia chairman Michael Miller
explained that their initial focus will be to maximise the collaboration of the two
businesses along with their broadcast brands. Adding the issue of rebranding into the
mix will only serve as a distraction and is not in line with their current primary
objective.
Sources also revealed that changing the Foxtel brand may have been considered for
some time, but some executives, including new chief executive Patrick Delany
believed it was somehow pointless to introduce rebranding if there aren t new product
offerings to attract consumers. The rationale would be that rebranding serves no
purpose without new services to justify the said name modification.
Nevertheless, the supposed to be grounds behind the planned rebranding would be
to give the company a literally fresh start in the form of a new name in order to
eliminate the deep rooted consumer perception about Foxtel being old and costly.
This is why Foxtel s subscription costs have seen substantial decreases in the past
four years while still incorporating the newest technology as part of its service
Jonesown Massacre And The Jonestown Massacre
THE JONESTOWN CULT
Mass suicides are infrequent yet notable events that have occurred throughout the
course of human history. The forty nine Japanese Ronan, or Russian villagers
burning themselves during the Russian Church s Great Schism, are terrible
reminders of the lengths humans will go to in order to remain faithful to a deeply
held ideology (Coleman 46). Notably, in both of these examples and in the case of
the Jonestown massacre, the suicides occurred within the context of a culture, sub
culture, or counter culture that explicitly lent credence to the idea that death could be
an act of ultimate devotion. Thus, it is reasonable to assume that humans, when
capable of uninfluenced choice, will choose not to die under such circumstances.
This makes the death of 909 men, women, and children under the leadership of Jim
Jones all the more curious from sociological, psychological, and ethical perspectives.
THE MAKING OF A CULT
Jim Jones started The People s Temple in Indiana in the 1950s; however, it was when
he moved to California that he truly began to grow his influence. His message of
equality and harmony spoke to many, especially in the turbulent times of the Civil
Rights movement and the Cold War. Jones charisma cemented his congregants
adoration. The ideal culture of The People s Temple, which stood in opposition to
America s real culture at the time, was what made it a counter culture; it was their
dedication to Jones that set turned them to cultism. Whether Jones
Difference Between Macronutrient Vs. Micronutrients
Difference Between Macronutrients and Micronutrients
Nutrients required for the survival of mankind and other living creatures can be
divided into two categories. They are macronutrients and micronutrients. There seems
to be a lot of confusion over the difference between macronutrients and
micronutrients. The main difference between macronutrients and micronutrients is
that human body requires macronutrients in larger quantities whereas micronutrients
are needed in smaller quantities. The major macronutrients are carbohydrate, protein
and fat which contribute to the bulk of our food. They are the structural and energy
giving caloric constituents of our foods. Meanwhile, micronutrients such as vitamins,

Humans and animals need macronutrients in larger quantities compared to
micronutrients. They contribute to the bulk energy needed for a living organism s

What are Micronutrients
Micronutrients are chemical substances required for various functions of the body,
growth, and disease prevention. Furthermore, they are essential for overall health of
human beings. Humans and animals consume micronutrients in smaller quantities
compared to macronutrients. They provide the required cofactors for human body
metabolism to be carried out.

The differences between macronutrients and micronutrients can be divided into
following categories. They are;

the evil man is capable of. Ralph s metamorphosis is captivating and displays the

However, Ralph argues, You haven t got the conch, Sit down (102). Following his
displeasure at Jack s point he tells the boys, Hasn t anyone got any sense?... don t

civilization among the boys, although Ralph still believes in the conch. Therefore
Ralph believing in the conch shows that he is still civilized. It is not until the very
end of the novel where Ralph goes down hill with the rest of the boys when the
conch is broken. Mass chaos erupts on the island as Jack and his crew chase Ralph
with the island burning in flames. When the boys are rescued Ralph acknowledges
the fall through of civilization. The officer mentions that they should have put up a
better fight. In response, Ralph argues, It was like that at first... before things (202).
The conch breaking represented the end of civilization on the island.
In addition, to the conch revealing Ralph s abandonment to civilization, Ralph s
transformation in hair coincides with the growth of savagery within him. In the
beginning of the novel, Ralph is a well kept boy. He is described as, The boy with

external conflicts on the island the reader sees the meaning behind his hair. When the
rules on the island are put aside, the other boys start to hunt and use their power for

Romeo And Juliet Tragic Tragedy
To believe in love, to be ready to give up anything for it, to be willing to risk your
life for it, is the ultimate tragedy (DiCaprio). In both of these stories there is the
similarity of young love ending in tragedy. Both sets of lovers feel defined by
nothing but their weaknesses. Romeo feels like he can never be enough for Juliet
because he is just a Montague. Being a Montague is what he lets define him. Hazel
feels as if she can never be known as anything besides a cancer patient. She lets this
define her. Romeo and Juliet could never be together because of their families, and
Hazel and Augustus could never be together because of their diseases. In both
cases fate was not on their side. Romeo is cursed by his last name as Augustus is
cursed by his cancer. Romeos last name Montague is his cancer. In the stories
Romeo and Juliet and The fault in our Stars the author reveals that going through
tragedy is worth it for love. Romeo and Juliet were cursed by their families names.
They knew in their hearts that because of this affliction that their love was doomed
from the beginning. But they also new that it was going to be worth it in the end
to them. Come, gentle night, come, loving, black brow d night, Give me my

will make the face of heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with night And

The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Energy
Almost all human activities rely on some form of energy. There are various
sources of energy in the world and the most commonly used is coal. However, due
to a decline of coal deposits, need for alternative sources of energy have gained
popularity in the past few decades. There are various sources of energy, which have
been used as alternatives for example hydropower, wind power, geothermal energy,
and the most important of all, nuclear energy. As the world s population expands,
so does demand for nuclear energy. With technological advances, the utilization of
nuclear energy has become ubiquitous in peoples lives. The widespread use of
nuclear energy has been a controversial issue for many years as there have been a lot
of problems that arose with its usage. Nuclear Poweris an essential and a valuable
energy source yet still poses many significant risks globally.
Nuclear Energy by definition is the energy consumed or produced in modifying
composition of the atomic nucleus. It is the process where atoms are split hence
producing heat, which in turn creates energy. The discovery of nuclear energy began
in the early 1950 s with Rontgen s X Ray discovery in 1895 after scientists unraveled
the atomic structure and concluded that all atoms have protons and neutrons. The
German s were the first in carrying out the fission in uranium atoms in 1895 after the
discovery of Uranium by a German chemist by the name of Martin Klaproth. German

had little or no power. The mayor of the palace, Pepin the short, held the power of
the empire. In 752 Pepin dethroned the last Merovingian king and took the throne for
himself and restored the power to the monarchy. He shared the kingdom with his
brother Carloman. They ruled the land in harmony. Ten years later PopeStephen
crowned Pepin, and thereby solidifying his right to the throne. He had a son named
Charlemagne, who later became king and was referred to as Charles the Great . This
honorable name was bestowed upon him because he was the first king to re establish

his people s lives in so many different ways. He had many projects which aimed at
making his kingdom more attractive and at increasing public utility (pg. 71). He
attempted and succeeded at certain projects. He restored and built churches, bridges,
canals, and roadways. Charles also worked to spread education and Christianity in
every class of people. In addition he set up money standards to encourage commerce.
Some of his outstanding projects were the great church of the Holy Mother of God
at Aachen. As well as the bridge over the Rhine at Mainz, which burned down.
Charles initiated the reconstruction of this bridge, one year before he died. He also
began the construction of two palaces. He restored sacred edifices, which had fallen
into ruin because of their antiquity. He created schools for both nobles and peasants.
He tried to build the Rhine Danube canal and encouraged better farming methods.
Charles was also concerned with the culture of his people. He brought scholars in to
read from their learned works instead of having jesters perform during meals. Charles
revived church music. He had monks brought in
Being There by Jerzy Kosinski Essay
In his novel Being There, Jerzy Kosinski shows how present day culture has
strayed away from the ideal society that Plato describes in his allegory of the cave.
In his metaphor, Plato describes the different stages of life and education through
the use of a cave. In the first level of the cave, Plato describes prisoners who are
shackled and facing a blank wall. Behind them is a wall of fire with a partition that
various objects are placed and manipulated by another group of people. These
shadows are the only action that they ever see. They can only talk to the surrounding
prisoners, and watch the puppet show on the wall in front of them. Naturally, the
prisoners come to believe that the shadows on the wall in front of them are... Show

the outside world is his TV that he watches constantly. He cannot read or write, and

Once he is hurt by the limousine, he is given an injection to ease his pain. As the

How Did Jane Addams Influence During The Progressive
Era
Jane Addams was a major influence during the Progressive Era. As a progressive
reformer she had attempted to eliminate the corruption of the government while
trying to promote women s suffrage. Throughout her life Jane Addams had assisted
immigrants from all over the world, regardless of their color, and established the
Hull House as a result of her efforts. Throughout her life, Jane had been noticed for
her achievements and became an important figure for those around her. As a result
she became the first female president of the National Conference of Social Work.
Jane Addams believed that in order to develop as a country then we should practice
social democracy across the entire United States. She promoted child education and
argued that it should be easily affordable and accessible to everybody as she
believed that the future of America will be decided by that of what we teach the
children in their early life.
In her early life, Jane Addams was raised in Cedarville, Illinois and born into a
family of nine children. Although Addams had to deal with health problems at an
early age, she was under the household of a wealthy family so the problems weren t a
huge concern. After attending medical school for a brief time, Addams went to
London, England with her friend, Ellen Gates Starr. Upon arriving at England they

The Last of Us
The Last of Us The Last of Us is an award winning video game developed by
Naughty Dog and produced by Sony Entertainment for the PlayStation3 (PS3). It
features a blend of action adventure, stealth, and survival horror genres, and is set in
the post pandemic ruins of the United States. Yet, while those elements make the
game interesting and enjoyable to play, it is the story that motivates the player

in making this game significantly better than the vast majority of other horror

Joel is an apathetic man; heavily tormented by grief over his daughter s death and
the loss of everything he once valued. Ellie, born several years after the initial

turned upside down and essentially torn apart by a major crisis, is the only world
she has ever known. The story of The Last of Us , rather than focusing on its
clichГ©d setting of a zombie infested, post apocalyptic world, is about the gradual
bond that forms between the two main characters. Joel and Ellie s relationship is one
the developer ingeniously establishes over the course of the game with subtle

from the gameplay. Ammunition, weapons, and ingredients for crafting are
extremely scarce, setting the survival horror aspect of the game at the forefront of a
player s mind in its truest sense. Combat in The Last of Us adds to the sense of
intensity and believability felt throughout the game. The player must survive
encounters with two types of foes: humans and infected. Often unpredictable, human
enemies behave more intelligently in The Last of Us than previously seen in games
by employing items from their own arsenal, and displaying a remarkable sense of
self preservation. The zombie like creatures in the game are characterized by the

The Meaning Of Tally
This quote, written by author Kate Angell, stresses that outer beauty is only the
fragile glass of inner beauty, which is the reality. When reading this quote, I
remembered a chapter from the book that really resembled and related to it.
Something that could relate to anyone in any social encountered situation, and give a
new meaning to beauty in itself. In this short chapter, Tally and Shay are making
morphs, an early copy of their pretty selves before they receive their operation.
Though Tally has made her dream morph, and is mentally counting down the days
until their operations, Shay is not. In fact, when they were making Shay s morph, and
she suggests that they go hoverboarding instead, Tally insists they have to get this

Improving Your Low Self Esteem
IMPROVING YOUR LOW SELF ESTEEM
INTRODUCTION: In the course of our life, we might have encountered a
situation whereby we think of other people as been better than us. At times you
may look at some successful people, and see them as perfect, being lucky and more
gifted and hope you could trade places with them. On the other hand, these people
also look at you and think of you as someone who is free, without many problems.
You feel insecure of people and they likewise feel the same thing of you. At that
moment, what you are experiencing is lack of self confidence and low self esteem.
SELF ESTEEM AND LOW SELF ESTEEM
Self Esteem can be described as a mental state that depends on a person s personal
assessment of his or her worth. The concept deals with an individuals perception on
whether or not they are worthy of praise or merit. In short, your self esteem describes
the measure with which you like yourself.
Low self esteem is a phrase we usually used to describe individuals who fails to
think highly of themselves. People with low self esteem possess a low assessment
of their own self worth. They never feel good regarding who they are and what
they are. This has the possibility to create any number of problems for the person
that is experiencing the condition. In a simple way, low self esteem can as well be
described as feeling down about yourself.

Essay On Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
For the past 50 years acute respiratory distress syndrome or better known as ARDS,
has been an issue in hospital intensive care units all around the world. The first
documented published scientific description dates back to 1821 when Laennec
described the gross pathology of the heart and lungs and described idiopathic
anasarca of the lungs; pulmonary edema without heart failure in a treatise on diseases
of the chest. 1 Cardiac and non cardiac issues were not taken into consideration as
part of the cause at that time. The first definition dates back to Ashbaugh and
colleagues in 1967.2 Though modern medicine has been around for hundreds of
years, it wasn t until hospitals designed intensive care units and began using

Though many advances were made multiple research done, in 2012 the medical
community once again got together. An expert panel agreed that ARDS is a type
of acute diffuse, inflammatory lung injury, leading to increased pulmonary
vascular permeability, increased lung weight, and loss of aerated lung tissue. The
clinical hallmarks are hypoxemia and bilateral radiographic opacities, associated
with increased venous admixture, increased physiological dead space, and
decreased lung compliance. The morphological hallmark of the acute phase is
diffuse alveolar damage (ie, edema, inflammation, hyaline membrane, or
hemorrhage). 3 It was at this conference that the Berlin definition was put into
existence. Though it is to note that most research to date has been done using the
AECC definition, the Berlin definition removed what was known as acute lung
injury. Under the new Berlin definition patients with a PaO2/FiO2 ratio of 200 300
while on a PEEP of +5 would now be classified as mild ARDS, while patients with a
PaO2/FiO2 ratio of 100 200 would be classified as moderate anything under 100
would be classified as severe. With pulmonary capillary wedged pressures under

Effect Of Corporate Actions On Human Health And The...
The point of it all, in addition to understanding the detrimental effects that corporate
actions can have on human health and the environment, is the realization that
corporations have a frightening level of power and control over multiple aspects
of our society. Not only do products sold, economic presence, and a high volume of
jobs provided by corporations affect how we live, but the active role that
corporations play in deliberately shaping how people think through media, research,
and political lobbying raises questions of how far we are willing to let them go.

According to Jane Akre, a member of the Monsanto investigative team who was
interviewed for The Corporation, Monsanto demanded that Fox reedit the report
multiple times, reaching up to 83 revisions before outright demanding that it be

Undaunted, Akre went to the Florida court, citing wrongful termination and using an

Surprisingly, after an appeal from Monsanto, the court threw the case out, stating that
obfuscating the truth was not strictly an illegal action under state and federal law.
The broader implications of this single case are terrifying. The first and foremost
among them is that a court struck down a case which involved the wellbeing of
hundreds of thousands of youths across the nation at the behest of a corporation.
Their reasoning was that because the deliberate violation of a core virtue was not
explicitly written to be illegal, it was not valid for legal
Benjamin Franklin s Theory Of Life And Learning
Benjamin Franklin is known as a founding father, a self made man, and a genius by
historians around the world. These descriptors can be attributed to the fact that,
while he never had a strong formal education, Franklin challenged himself at every
point of his life. He was full of curiosity, and had an unstoppable drive to succeed. In
addition, Franklin s autobiography, and many of his beliefs, still remain relevant
today. James Dillon, in his article A Wonder Based Approach to Life and Learning
,
argues that Benjamin Franklins strong, long lasting legacy comes from the
infectious sense of wonder and curiosity that Benjamin Franklin brought to nearly
everything he did (Dillon 38). In fact, Dillon is a very strong believer that Ben
Franklin s model of learning is still incredibly useful in today s modern life.
To begin his article, Dillon starts off by simply describing Benjamin Franklin s
world views. The author points out that Franklin believed that his curiosity could
change the world and fill it with knowledge. Franklin s curiosity lasted throughout
his entire lifetime, and his questioning led to the creation of a wide variety of
modern inventions. Dillon goes on to compare Franklin s inquisitiveness with the
attitude that schools try to encourage in children as well. The two begin to contrast
because no one is telling him [Benjamin Franklin] to do this exercise for a grade in
class; he is doing it all on his own (Dillon p 39). It is a negative attitude in learning
What Are The Weaknesses Of The Hong Kong Crisis
Hong Kong has always been a major international financial and business center in the
East Asian region. It could not avoid being affected by the crisis .Even though It was
the only economy with a fully convertible currency and was known for beating
speculations on its monetary and fiscal structure, it was drastically affected by the
crisis. It had the estimated exchange reserves of US$90 billion(in 1997),still .it could
not protect the country from the financial and economic turbulence brought in, due to
the crisis.
Causes
Interest rates rose in defense of the Hong Kong dollar( which is pegged to the US
dollars under currency board ). The People s Republic of China promised to support
to Hong Kong by committing to not devalue the yuan so as to defend the Hong Kong
dollar.
But the floatation of the Taiwan dollar intensified attacks on Hong Kong dollar .

One of the weaknesses exposed by the crisis was the underdevelopment of capital

This encouraged the listing of Japanese and European bonds.
The Govt set up the Hong Kong exchange and clearing Company in March 2000
and proposed to merge the stock and future exchange markets, along with three

Method: Time Based Method, Interval Recording, Whole Interval will be used to
collect data as we are interested in the behaviour that occurs during the entire
interval. Interval recording is flexible and provides useful data particularly for off
task behaviour. It is broken down into intervals or blocks of time, and observations
are marked separately for each interval. Since we would like to get Joey to be on
task, we want to know how long each type of behaviour lasts (on/off), we will
therefore require a method to ensure each duration. Another consideration is to
make it as easy as possible since the teacher is busy and has other students to

information to be useful to our particular situation as our goal for Joey is to be on
task most or all the time. Joey s behaviour is non uniform so whole interval method
was chosen, as it will provide better data concerning time on/off task behaviours even
though this method puts more demand on the

I do agree that the players who are using anabolic steroids are cheaters. It is sad that
great accomplishments and records set by honest players are being smashed by
juiced up athletes. In his Sports Illustrated column Rick Reilly states, ВЎВ§I believe
Barry Bonds should go straight to the Hall of Fame, too, even though I know that
heВЎВ¦s a cheater and that the second half of his career was as phony as Cheez
WhizВЎВЁ (118). I also sympathize with players who are playing the game
honestly only to be outdone by dishonest players. The youth of America cannot be
shown that cheating is bad, but it is also okay and you can get away with it.
If these players arenВЎВ¦t going to be totally axed from the game, record books, and
hall of fame then we should let the world and future generations know that there is an
asterisk next to these accomplishments. ВЎВ§That asterisk would say: Records are in
question because of widespread use of anabolic steroidsВЎВЁ (Verducci 38). This
way we are punishing cheaters while not totally obliterating their accomplishments.
Players who have played the game honestly will see the accomplishments of
dishonest players marred by this historical asterisk. The youth of America will learn
from this that there is no honor in cheating. Let all the people today and of future
generations know that this era of inflated numbers and hall of famers is under
scrutiny of widespread anabolic steroid use. I

development activity happens. Databases should not be built without data model.
Same as it is not viable to build a house without blueprints. Projects can go terribly

While without technology, it lowered the chances of finding each side s camps and
where they were all of the time, technology during the Civil War could have been
more advanced because it would have allowed them to communicate with loved ones
while they were away fighting in the war. Technologywould have put them ahead of
the enemy, and it would have helped them advance in war. One of the main types
of advances in the Civil War was the advances in machinery. One example of a type
of machinery that made a huge impact was the submarine. There was a lot of time
and hard work put in to develope and deploy submarines on both sides of the war.
Records kept about submarines are hard to come by because in fact, they were
partially illegal. Therefore, almost all of the submarine... Show more content on

Believe it or not, there were many technological advances make in the weaponry
portion of the Civil War. Cannons, guns, swords, and sabers were some of the
many weapons that were widely used in this war. Cannons only were used when
necessary because the ammunition was harder for them of obtain. Although,
weaponry was used all of the time so cannons were used more than most people
realize. Guns made many technological advances during the Civil War. The most
widely known advance was the use of the rifled barrels. Popular rifles used in the
civil war include the Springfield rifle, the Lorenz rifle, the Colt revolving rifle (

Compare the first three scenes of Hamlet and Twelfth Night
Hamlet and Twelfth Night are two Shakespeare plays of complete opposites. Due to
one being written as a tragedy, and the other as a comedy, many comparisons can be
drawn between the two plays, on themes and motifs that develop throughout the
plays. One of the themes that is easily recognisable in the early stages of both plays,
is that of deceit and disguise. In Hamlet, we learn early on that Hamlet decides to act
as a madman in order to try and weed out a confession from his uncle about the
murder of his father. Although he does not actually reveal to any other characters his
plan until Act 1 Scene 5, when he tells Horatio that he plans to put an antic

In Twelfth Night , disguise is a key theme in order for the play to take shape.
Within the first three scenes, we have several examples of characters deliberately
deceiving others in order to achieve a selfish goal. An example of this is seen
through Viola s decision to disguise herself as a eunuch in order to find favour with
the duke.
The decision by Shakespeare to now portray Viola as a man, creates confusion

When Men Last Longer In Bed Research Paper
One of the biggest problems that men mention when talking about their sexual
health is wishing that there was a way to last longer in bed. The good news it that
there are many ways to increase sexual stamina and improve your love making
techniques. Use these easy ways to last longer in bed and have a more satisfying
experience for both you and your partner.
One of the easiest and most natural ways to increase your time is to change
positions. Let the woman ease on top of you and stay on top. This can also be
achieved by literally sitting inside each other. This is when the man crosses his legs
and the woman does too, but she is on the top.
This gives her more control over the tempo and improves both her experience and
yours as well. Many couples swear by this technique and it can help guys last much

During intercourse, withdraw the penis and then re enter in the missionary position.
This is a great tip to use when you re tired of the woman always being on top and
you want to try something different.
This method is also great for couples that like to experiment since they can easily
add their own acrobatic moves like lifting the legs or even the entire body. By
withdrawing during intercourse, this will slow a man s body and responses down,
giving him better technique.
The squeeze technique is a great natural method that makes sex more satisfying and
last longer for both partners. After engaging in foreplay, guys will often feel the need
to release immediately. Once this urge happens, the woman squeezes the end of the
penis until the urge goes away.
After releasing, wait a few seconds and then continue. Using this method a few
times during foreplay can make intercourse longer and more satisfying. This may
take some time to perfect for both partners so don t give up if it doesn t seem to be
effective the first time

Summary Of A Theory Of Justice
Luis Murillo
Philosophy Applied Ethics
Professor Jennings
12/2/14
Rawl s: A Theory of Justice
In our modern society where economic resources are gained by paid labor, there is
often room for an unequal distribution of wealth. Hence, a laissez fare or hands off
approach to the distribution of such economic resources will often case produce
problems and inefficiencies in a society. Rawls says in his writing excerpts, A Theory
of Justice from the Ethics in Practice textbook that a state ought to enforce constraints
on the distribution of wealth because some types of redistribution are unjust. Rawls
principle of justice revolves around a basic structure of society in order to regulate
agreements and specify social cooperation. It is used in order to establish what
agreements, governments and social issues will be established in accordance to the
place. Rawls argues that the principle of justice is just if and only if it was chosen
from the original position. Only Rawls principle of justice would be chosen from the
original position, therefore only Rawls Principle of Justice are just.
The original position is a hypothetical position from which we choose principles of
justice which are specifically designed to produce just principles of justice. The
only way the original position can work hypothetically is through a veil of ignorance
in which it is designed to prevent biased decision making when choosing principles
of justice. It is able to accomplish this is by making the
Should Football Be Allowed In High School
High school sports are an important aspect of a young person s life because it could
decide their college, careers, and determine their social circle. High school football
is a time where a fellowship occurs, not only with students, but the community also.
There is on going issues with contact sports such as should there be rule changes or
eliminate the game completely because of head injuries occurring too often. The
problem is deciding whether the risks of playing these sports are worth it in the end.
Are the risks of football worth the entertainment or should should football be banned
for safety reasons? Doctor Anne McKey stated that if anything, we should have rule
changes and equipment changes because it s not worth the risk (CNN, 2012).... Show

In America, football is huge entertainment industry and brings in lots of money
annually. This doesn t mean that football is just there for the money, but it
provides life long impact for some people. Football is used as a brotherhood or a
family, and provides opportunities for kids to learn how to be a teammate. The
head coach for J.H. Rose High School, discussed how he loves his team and wants
nothing but the best for them (CNN, 2012). In addition, it is a matter of autonomy
to be discussed. If a player knows the risks of football, it should be their choice
whether they want to play or not. One of the football players in the video said he
knows the risks and he s willing to take them (CNN, 2012). On the other hand,
some would argue the principle of beneficence and that doctors are merely trying
to save the lives of many young men. In the video, it was discussed that tau
proteins become present in the brain after multiple collisions to the head (CNN,
2012). Tau proteins are known to become present in the brain when an older
person has Alzheimer s or dementia (CNN, 2102). Also, is football worth a life,
two lives? How many young men have to lose their lives to head trauma caused by
football hits, to realize this sport is deadly. Zach Rogers was a teammate and friend
of JaQuan Waller, and said how they thought JaQuan was okay and just got hit pretty

Afghanistan s Violence Against Women
Jaleea West
Being a woman in Afghanistan has to be one of the most difficult things in the world
to be. Why would you not want to be anything than what you were meant to be? I ll
tell you why, mistreatment, rape, being beaten, disrespected, and treated like you are
nothing, being a woman should never mean being less than a human being.
The violence toward women in Afghanistan is only growing, a U.N. report stated
that there has recently been an increase in violence and mistreatment toward
women. In 2012, there were more than 300 girls brutally killed and 560 injured by
their husbands or parents. Wow. Those numbers are pretty ridiculous. Woman are
killed for nothing, completely innocent. Comparing this to America there would
have been consequences taken place to ensure safety in our country: charges filed,
prison time, or even death penalties to name a few, especially concerning young
girls and women. Something so simple that we in America are granted like having
a say so in your life could cause you to lose it in Afghanistan. Could you imagine
someone setting rules for you to follow 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and if the
smallest thing goes wrong, your life is over? I cannot. ... Show more content on

Afghan women suffer from the highest levels of maternal mortality in the world
(death of a woman while pregnant), this is a huge problem that needs to go public

children. Health Care surveys in Afghanistan have revealed that more than 30 to 40
per cent of the population does not have access to health care; even if they could
provide the health services they are not accessible to women in rural areas and poor
women. These conditions have gotten out of hand and something needs to be done
about it, everyone should receive the proper health
Javier Sotomayor
On Tuesday, July 27 1993 in Salamanca Spain, the world of Track and Field was
revolutionized in less than 20 seconds. Not in a 200 meter sprint, but because of a
2.45 meter unassisted vertical jump. Javier Sotomayor is the only person in the
world to have ever cleared 8 feet with a jump of 8 0.5 breaking the 2.44m record he
had set the previous year. Javier Sotomayor is iconic in the High Jump as a result
of his record which has not been surpassed in its 22 years and only recently has
been challenged. Javier Sotomayor also known as Rey de las Alturas or king of the
heights was born on October 13 of 1967 in Limonar, Maranzas, Cuba. Son of a day
care worker and sugar factory maintenance man, Javier s desire to become an athlete
was evident by the makeshift high jump pit he had made from dried sugarcane sticks
and two rusty barrels. The opportunity to become a great athlete was not something
that happened often in the communist... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Analyzing Sotomayor s record breaking jump it can be broken down into four
separate sections. Firstly the initial approach to the breakpoint, breakpoint to the
takeoff, take off to the peak and lastly the peak to the landing. In the initial
approach Sotomayor builds speed for his jump, this speed is used as the initial
horizontal velocity and is maintained by his large bounding strides. When he
begins to break for his takeoff, the speed is farther increased in order to generate
power for his take off. The horizontal velocity is then converted to vertical velocity
by a quick last step and driving his knee upward and outward to create a slight
rotational motion placing the bar behind him. After he is in the air, Sotomayor
looks back at the mat arching his back moving the center of his mass outside of his
body while at the panicle of his jump. Then drives his shoulders down bringing his
legs over quickly for the record breaking near perfect
Yeats’ Leda and the Swan and Van Duyn s Leda Essay
Yeats Leda and the Swan and Van Duyn s Leda
In Greek mythology, Leda, a Spartan queen, was so beautiful that Zeus, ruler of the
gods, decided he must have her. Since immortals usually did not present themselves
to humankind in their divine forms, Zeus changed himself into a great swan and in
that shape ravished the helpless girl (Carey 58 59). Both William Butler Yeatsand
Mona Van Duyn base their poems Ledaand the Swan and Leda, respectively, on this
story of a mystic marriage. Yeats focus on the sexual act itself, along with his
allusions to Leda s progeny, manifest a grave and terrifying tone. While he raises
Leda to a status similar to that of Mary, mother of Jesus, Van Duyn portrays Leda as
a universal mother. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yeats question concerning Leda s recognization of Zeus ( And how can body . . .
but feel the strange heart beating where it lies? ), in a sense, queries how can man
not recognize Lucifer by his deception and God by his virtue?
Rather than recounting the rape itself, Van Duyn emphasizes the characterization
of Leda, a representative of all women. The line her mind closed on a bird and
went to sleep implies that Leda does not even imagine that the bird is anything
more than just that, a bird. She lacks both intelligence and curiosity, and hence
reverts to her purpose in life, the act of giving. Leda s openness in this line refers
to her willingness to submit, To give: women and gods are alike in enjoying that
ceremony, find[ing] its smoke filling and sweet. 1 (337) Unlike the resistance Leda
attempts in Yeats poem, Van Duyn s Leda willingly provides her body for sexual
pleasure, for she only wants to please the bird, symbolic of man.
Van Duyn briefly mentions Zeus parasitic actions. She contends that Zeus enjoys
his exploitation of Leda solely because of his narcissism2, for he seeks his own
reflection in the eyes of the women he victimizes ( collecting these rare pictures of
himself was his life ) (337). Reflecting her own feminist beliefs, Van Duyn implies
that men are selfish, using women for sex simply to satisfy their own passions.
On the other hand, Yeats converges solely on the sketch of Zeus, revealing both a
playboy and a
The Physics Of Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, is an applied form of Nuclear Magnetic
Resonance spectroscopy (NMR). Utilizing the naturally occurring magnetic
properties of water and hydrogen nuclei, composing between seventy to ninety
percent of human tissue, to create detailed images of the human body. With recent
technological advances, MRI has become widespread in the medical imaging
community, with its function extending past radiology, into the realm of probing
body chemistry in vivo, and analyzing brain function. (MRI textbook).
A Brief History of Medical Imagining and MRI:
The field of functional medical imaging, or radiology, first began to unravel after
Roentgen discovered the existence of x rays in 1895. Almost simultaneously, famous
scientists, Becquerel and the Curies, discovered radioactivity and the radioactive
properties of radium (1896). The coupling of these landmark eureka moments lead to
the conception of nuclear medicine, and the initiation of a medical imaging
revolution. Beginning with the most rudimentary imaging techniques, fluorescent
screens and contrast media, radiology and related technology developments picked
up momentum, yielding notable methods like computed tomography (CT), single
photon emission tomography (SPET), and positron emission tomography (PET)
scans within a short time span. However, it wasn t until 1959, when Singer, a
faculty at the University of California Berkeley, proposed a novel concept implying
that NMR can be applied to create a
Rites Of Passage, Right Or Wrong
Rites of Passage, Right or Wrong ? Throughout history the term rights of passage
has been used to describe the transition of a person into a new stage of their lives.
Rites of passage are relevant in every day life all over the world. Most prominently
though, Africa has a large population of people whose groups still practice traditional
rites of passageto mark special life achievements. Basically, anything meaningful that
happens within their tribe such as the birth of a child, the entrance into adulthood,
marriage, death, and so on, are all celebrated with the completion of different
customs. The celebration of rituals include dances, songs, and other formalities,
however groups across the continent also use varying methods of initiationthat most
commonly include circumcision in both sexes. For decades, people have
questioned whether or not this traditional initiation ritual is necessary and if it
could possibly be harmful to young people within certain tribes that practice them.
Much controversy surrounds the issue of following tradition even while
performing procedures such as female mutilation. How are these rites of passage
viewed as beneficial and how are they seen as destructive? What are some
alternative rites of passage for these young initiates? A rite of passage, in African
culture, is a ceremonial event in which a person enters into a new stage of their
life(Haley, McNaughton, Moss, Sallah and Wilson 3). Many of the traditional rituals
and ceremonies

  • 1. Education And Career Goals Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Education and Career Goals" can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in the need to articulate your aspirations and plans concisely while showcasing your unique qualities and experiences. It requires a delicate balance between personal reflection and professional objectives. To start, one must delve into introspection, reflecting on past achievements, challenges faced, and the transformative power of education. Defining career goals demands foresight and a strategic approach, contemplating the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the chosen field. The challenge is to narrate these insights coherently, creating a narrative that is not just informative but also engaging. Additionally, the essay should address how your educational journey aligns with your career ambitions. This requires research into potential educational paths, institutions, and programs. Communicating this alignment effectively is crucial, as it demonstrates a clear understanding of the steps required to achieve your goals. The essay's structure is another hurdle, demanding a logical flow that guides the reader through your past, present, and future. It must strike a balance between humility and confidence, showcasing achievements without sounding boastful and acknowledging challenges without sounding defeated. Moreover, the challenge extends to tailoring the essay for specific audiences, whether it be academic institutions or potential employers. Each essay must be customized to align with the values and expectations of the intended reader, adding another layer of complexity to the writing process. The Background Of The Nestle Company The Background of the Organisation The NestlГ© history begins back to 1886, when he first man, a European condensed milk factory was opened in Cham, Switzerland, by the Anglo Swiss Condensed Milk Company. In 1867, the founder Henri NestlГ©, a German pharmacist, established new product of cow s milk, wheat flour and sugar in Vevey, Switzerland. Henri NestlГ©, himself an immigrant from Germany, was instrumental in turning his Company towards international expansion from beginning. In the same year, there was a boycott of a group of organization in United Kingdom against NestlГ©. Later, as a result of our inclusion in the responsible investment index FTSE4Good in 2011, the United Reformed Churches ended their support for this boycott. By this time, a lot of other important stakeholders had already ended their support for it, including the General Synod of the Church of England, the Royal College of Midwives, and the Methodist Ethical Investment Committee. • 3. Factors for Your Personal Credit Score In my research I found that three companies are used in the United States as the primary determiners for credit score. The companies that determine credit score are Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. The components I discovered that make up your personal credit score are: Payment History, Lines of New Credit, How much you owe, and finally length of credit historywith other factors as well rounding out the table. Payment history makes up the largest percentage at Thirty Five percent. They use your past behavior in determining what you will do in the future. This is considered the most important factor in calculating credit scores because if they do not have data to show how you have performed in the past that might be misleading and could lead to someone with terrible credit in the past to open many new credit cards. They take into account the two types of loans, revolving and installment. Revolving loans are the types that always fluctuate, like opening new charge card accounts. Installments are paid back in portions like if you have payments to make on a car lease or mortgaging a home. If you default on a loan it is not always going to result in identical damage to your credit score. The amount of damage to defaulting is determined by the size of the installment. If you are working on boosting your credit to a higher rating, you should always pay on or by the due date. The second biggest component to a credit score is the debt amounts. Debt amounts makes up around
  • 4. Galilee Basin Research Paper A controversial topic commonly debated among society is the construction of coal mines. Although they potentially contain great economic promise and access to more resources, they also harm the surrounding environment and increase carbon dioxide emissions. A specific example of a possible excavation site is the Galilee Basin, located in western Queensland. The Galilee Basin is an untapped coal reservoir that spans across 247,000 square kilometres of land and is home to five mines approved for construction and one mine waiting for approval by the Queensland Government. The mines themselves will bring many job opportunities for rural and urban Queenslanders, as they are forecasted to create a total of 28,000 jobs, 15,000 of which will be in the construction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite these many benefits, the coal mines also proposes many environmental issues, the first of which would be the effect that they would have on the neighbouring Great Barrier Reef. The increased production of carbon dioxide would increase the rate of ocean acidification in the Great Barrier Reef, a UNESCO site that is already suffering from many other pollution and destruction issues. However ocean acidification would only be a secondary effect of the coal mines, as the primary concern would be runoff of sediment from the mines that would leak into the reef, polluting it even further. It is predicted that Australia s carbon dioxide emissions would double if these mines were to be built, from 357.5 tonnes to 750 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. Additionally, many of these mines will require additional train rails to be constructed for the purpose of transporting the mined goods to proposed ports on the coast of

During The Course Of This Class, We Identified Organized During the course of this class, we identified organized crime groups throughout the world to include the Unites States and our southern neighbor, Mexico. Narcotics trafficking, prostitution, extortion, and murder are a huge part of the illegal activities controlled by these various groups. For this particular project, my focus will be on the organized crimegroup identified as Los Zetas. In the journal, Small Wars and Insurgencies, I read an article written by Lisa J. Campbell about Los Zetas. The article, Los Zetas: Operational Assessment, discussed the details of the Los Zetas operation from their beginning to their current state. The articles discuss in details their capabilities, networking, intelligence, weaponry, tactics, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Phase one is the production of drugs in Mexico or the introduction of drugs from other countries within Central America. Phase two is the transportation of drugs into the US by ways of rail cars, trucks, boats, or rafts to cross the river. Phase three is the distribution of drugs from wholesale or bulk quantities of small retail packages for distribution to the streets. One of the major facilitating shipments for Los Zetas operations is San Antonio due to the vast amount of highway network within the city. Los Zetas utilize any and all resources at their disposal. • 6. Everyday Use By Alice Walker In the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker, the author describes different ideas about one s heritage. Culture and heritage is at the main point of the story Everyday Use by Alice Walker as symbolized by the quilt. The bond that Mother and Maggie share is brought by their common talent to make works of art like quilts. Dee does not have similar capacity because she does not appreciate manual labor nor believes in her heritage. The idea of pride in culture, heritage, and familyis the main theme of the story. The line between being proud of whom one is and exploiting one s self is broken and blurred by one character. The other two keep their firm ground in living out their values, rather than using it simply as a conversation starter. An African American single mother raises two daughters that have different meanings of life and heritage. Maggie is the youngest daughter, the girl who is shy who is not attractive and is pleased with her culture and life. Then there is Dee the girl who is attractive, sophisticated and knows what she wants in life and wants to be something more than her family. Even though Dee is sophisticated she does not know the true importance of heritage. This is what starts struggle between mother and Dee, because Dee desires the quilt for decoration which her mother would not give it to her for that reason. The mother believes the quilt is not for ornamenting it is more meaningful and signifies the heritage of her family. Only Maggie can transmit

For example, Thomas and friends has clothes, stationery, household products, jewellery etc. *** She is a successful independent woman, who lives in a world of pink, where she owns a dream house in Malibu. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Until sales dropped 30%, this giant manufacturer introduced My Scene , Barbie dolls debuting together with perfume, cosmetics to aim at older girls segment. However, My Scene was found to be an imitation of the Bratz dolls and soon flopped (Hope 2011). This refers to the process of selective retention. According to Kotler amp; Keller (2009, 204), consumers may keep in mind positive features about a certain product they like and tend to ignore the good things of a competing product. Barbie and cultural aspects: Diffusion and failure Originating from the concept that different ethnic groups can have their very own stereotyped ideals of beauty, in a strategy of expanding the global reach of Barbie line to different cultures, Mattel came up with multi cultural Barbie, i.e. Barbie with different backgrounds, for instance: the coloured Barbie was warmly greeted in African, American, Hispanic, and Indian cultures. However, there was controversy over approaches of Mattel in other markets, of which cultures traditional Barbie dolls were not compatible with. Drawbacks were clearly seen in Mattel s business in several overseas markets, to name but a few, ban on Barbie in Malaysia due to its lack of Asian appearance; Barbie confistication in Iran because of its non Islamic features (Ferrell 2007, 484), which go against their religion in terms of women s image; Barbie rejection in China, a
  • 8. Lab Report Titration Abstract: In this experiment, our team analyzed an unknown acid and a sample of vinegar solution by the process of titration using a 0.1 M sodium hydroxide solution as the titrant, as this solution is a strong base. In addition, our team members used phenolphthalein as indicator in the reaction. Introduction: First of all, for this experiment our team made use of several glassware, such as a buret, three 250 mL erlenmeyer flask, and a 10 mL flask. Additional, we also used a buret clamp, a plastic bottle with stopper, sodium hydroxide in form of pellets, potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP), phenolphthalein as indicator, unknown acid and vinegar. The process of titration involves measuring the exact volume of the known concertation (which in this case is sodium hydroxide) that is required to react with a measured volume of an unknown concertation. Our team used sodium hydroxide, since it is a common solution used in titration analysis of samples containing a solute acid. Nevertheless, sodium hydroxide must be used quickly, since this solution can react with carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and its concentration will change with the time. In order to not add an excess of titrant than the necessary for the reaction, our team made use of phenolphthalein as indicator. This indicator in particular changes to a pale pink color from basic pH. On the other hand, we also titrated a sample of vinegar with the same sodium hydroxide solution, since vinegar is a dilute solution of acetic
  • 9. Eating Habits And Culinary Practices Food ways can be defined as: the eating habits and culinary practices of a people, region, or historical period. My daily food ways consist of having three main course meals throughout the day; Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. My current food ways are based off what is available at the Lawrence dining hall and Sykes dining hall. For breakfast I tend to always have the same foods every day, either being an omelet, cereal, yogurt with granola, and the occasional banana. Considering being a college student it s hard to come by a variety of foods you can have for breakfast especially when you re in a rush to your next class. Lunch has become quite the difficulty to keep on a regular schedule with my classes all being back to back during lunch time. But, on the days I do have time for lunch I always have a big bowl of salad consisting of some leafy greens, onions, celery, carrots, croutons, and all topped with my favorite dressing balsamic vinaigrette. Dinnertime is my favorite time of the day to eat because it s right after practice and everyone from the team is all siting together scarfing down dishes after dishes of foodto replenish our staving stomachs after a long practice. At dinner time, I always make sure to eat a protein source and heavy carbohydrate to refuel my body so depending on what is available I ll always have a wheat Italian sandwich wrap with some pasta. I also make sure to have some fruit along with a small side salad. At the end of dinner, depending on the

In the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, Michael Zehaf Bibeau, a 32 year old Canadian born Islam convert, fatally shot a soldier with a hunting rifle at the National War Memorial in Ottawa before opening fire at nearby Parliament Hill. Gunfire echoed through the hallowed halls of the Centre Block just inches away from where the Canadian government was preparing to debate legislation that would relax gun control regulations. In 1977, the House of Commons passed Bill C 51, establishing new kinds of gun ownership permits called firearms acquisition certificates, which increased barriers to access by requiring applicants to pass background checks. The movement for stronger and more effective gun control was reinvigorated a decade later in the aftermath of the worst shooting incident in Canadian history: the Montreal Massacre. On December 6, 1989, twenty five year old Marc LГ©pine took a sixty student engineering classroom hostage at Г‰cole Polytechnique with a legally obtained Mini 14 hunting rifle. Over the next few years, public appeals for stricter gun control regulations grew increasingly forceful, culminating in the 1995 Firearms Act, or Bill C 68. The Firearms Act codified Canada s gun control laws as they exist today. Specifically, it implemented a new federal licensing system, mandated the registration of all

News Corp Australasia chairman Michael Miller explained that their initial focus will be to maximise the collaboration of the two businesses along with their broadcast brands. Sources also revealed that changing the Foxtel brand may have been considered for some time, but some executives, including new chief executive Patrick Delany believed it was somehow pointless to introduce rebranding if there aren t new product offerings to attract consumers. The rationale would be that rebranding serves no purpose without new services to justify the said name modification. • 15. Jonesown Massacre And The Jonestown Massacre THE JONESTOWN CULT Mass suicides are infrequent yet notable events that have occurred throughout the course of human history. The forty nine Japanese Ronan, or Russian villagers burning themselves during the Russian Church s Great Schism, are terrible reminders of the lengths humans will go to in order to remain faithful to a deeply held ideology (Coleman 46). Notably, in both of these examples and in the case of the Jonestown massacre, the suicides occurred within the context of a culture, sub culture, or counter culture that explicitly lent credence to the idea that death could be an act of ultimate devotion. Thus, it is reasonable to assume that humans, when capable of uninfluenced choice, will choose not to die under such circumstances. This makes the death of 909 men, women, and children under the leadership of Jim Jones all the more curious from sociological, psychological, and ethical perspectives. THE MAKING OF A CULT Jim Jones started The People s Temple in Indiana in the 1950s; however, it was when he moved to California that he truly began to grow his influence. His message of equality and harmony spoke to many, especially in the turbulent times of the Civil Rights movement and the Cold War. Jones charisma cemented his congregants adoration. The ideal culture of The People s Temple, which stood in opposition to America s real culture at the time, was what made it a counter culture; it was their dedication to Jones that set turned them to cultism. An expert panel agreed that ARDS is a type of acute diffuse, inflammatory lung injury, leading to increased pulmonary vascular permeability, increased lung weight, and loss of aerated lung tissue. The clinical hallmarks are hypoxemia and bilateral radiographic opacities, associated with increased venous admixture, increased physiological dead space, and decreased lung compliance. The morphological hallmark of the acute phase is diffuse alveolar damage (ie, edema, inflammation, hyaline membrane, or hemorrhage). 3 It was at this conference that the Berlin definition was put into existence. Though it is to note that most research to date has been done using the AECC definition, the Berlin definition removed what was known as acute lung injury. The point of it all, in addition to understanding the detrimental effects that corporate actions can have on human health and the environment, is the realization that corporations have a frightening level of power and control over multiple aspects of our society. Undaunted, Akre went to the Florida court, citing wrongful termination and using an exchange between her and a senior editor as evidence that she should obtain whistleblower status, forcing both Fox and Monsanto to concede to her demands. Surprisingly, after an appeal from Monsanto, the court threw the case out, stating that obfuscating the truth was not strictly an illegal action under state and federal law. The broader implications of this single case are terrifying. The first and foremost among them is that a court struck down a case which involved the wellbeing of hundreds of thousands of youths across the nation at the behest of a corporation. Their reasoning was that because the deliberate violation of a core virtue was not explicitly written to be illegal, it was not valid for legal

These descriptors can be attributed to the fact that, while he never had a strong formal education, Franklin challenged himself at every point of his life. He was full of curiosity, and had an unstoppable drive to succeed. In addition, Franklin s autobiography, and many of his beliefs, still remain relevant today. James Dillon, in his article A Wonder Based Approach to Life and Learning , argues that Benjamin Franklins strong, long lasting legacy comes from the infectious sense of wonder and curiosity that Benjamin Franklin brought to nearly everything he did (Dillon 38). In fact, Dillon is a very strong believer that Ben Franklin s model of learning is still incredibly useful in today s modern life. To begin his article, Dillon starts off by simply describing Benjamin Franklin s world views. The author points out that Franklin believed that his curiosity could change the world and fill it with knowledge. Franklin s curiosity lasted throughout his entire lifetime, and his questioning led to the creation of a wide variety of modern inventions. Dillon goes on to compare Franklin s inquisitiveness with the attitude that schools try to encourage in children as well. The two begin to contrast because no one is telling him [Benjamin Franklin] to do this exercise for a grade in class; he is doing it all on his own (Dillon p 39). It is a negative attitude in learning

The line her mind closed on a bird and went to sleep implies that Leda does not even imagine that the bird is anything more than just that, a bird. She lacks both intelligence and curiosity, and hence reverts to her purpose in life, the act of giving. Leda s openness in this line refers to her willingness to submit, To give: women and gods are alike in enjoying that ceremony, find[ing] its smoke filling and sweet. 1 (337) Unlike the resistance Leda attempts in Yeats poem, Van Duyn s Leda willingly provides her body for sexual pleasure, for she only wants to please the bird, symbolic of man. Beginning with the most rudimentary imaging techniques, fluorescent screens and contrast media, radiology and related technology developments picked up momentum, yielding notable methods like computed tomography (CT), single photon emission tomography (SPET), and positron emission tomography (PET) scans within a short time span. However, it wasn t until 1959, when Singer, a faculty at the University of California Berkeley, proposed a novel concept implying that NMR can be applied to create a
