The Victorian Style is known for being more. Composed of various styles before its
time including past styles of Europe and Asia, it demonstrated eclecticism which is a
mixture of different styles, it incorporated historical influences, and traits and
characteristics from foreign countries. Its name roots from Queen Victoria s name
who was in power at the time from 1819 until 1901. This style was influenced by all
of the changes happening in the world around it. Simultaneously, as the style
emerged so did the Industrial Revolution which was a transition from producing in the
home to producing in factories and in larger amounts. It caused both social and

The aim of the investigation is to research the use of semantically grouped words,
to aid memory recall. This relates to studies such as the Method of Loci which
believed since all the words are connected in an environment they are easier to
remember as they are associated together. [1] The experimental hypothesis is that
the number of words recalled will be increased by the words being related.
Laboratory experiment was the method used, in a lecture theatre setting and a
within participant s design. Twenty, first year psychology students, ages 17 to 38
years old, were studied on their ability to recall words read out by the examiner
after a period of time. In the first condition the words were unrelated while in the
second condition the words were all related together and this caused an increase in
the participants remembering them. In condition one the mean number of words
recalled was 6.6 with the highest score being 9, while on the other hand, condition
two had a mean of 10.2 words recalled and the highest scoring participant got 12
words correct.

over 1.2 billion people? This heavily populated country s history and culture was,
and still is, affected by its geography. For example, The Ganges River provided some
irrigation, but was mostly known for its religious significance in the Hindu faith. The
Indus Riverprovided fertile land for the Indus Valley civilization and allowed
agriculture to flourish, but also flooded, which was part of the civilization s
economical weakening. Another factor that which brought the fall of the
civilization was the Hindu Kush Mountain Range; although it provided some
protection, paths were discovered by invaders that permitted them to cross over
and quell. The Ganges River, a wide and slow paced river, starting from the
mountain tops, then through the Gangetic Plain, and finally empties into the Bay
of Bengal ( Ganges River ). The fertile Gangetic Plain was where settlements and
developing cities during prehistoric times because it was stable agriculturally (
Geography ). Despite the fact that the Ganges brought great fertility, it is also
known as the most holy and sacramental river in the Hindu religion. The river is
personified as a goddess, Ganga, who was sent from heaven to purify cursed and
