1. Problem Solving Topics For Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Problem Solving Topics For Essay" presents a unique set of
challenges. First and foremost, identifying a compelling problem-solving topic that is both
relevant and engaging can be a daunting task. The topic must be thought-provoking, addressing
a real-world issue that requires a thoughtful analysis and solution.
Once a suitable topic is selected, the next hurdle is conducting in-depth research to gather
relevant information and data. The essay should be well-informed and backed by credible
sources to lend it authority and depth. This phase demands time and patience, as navigating
through a myriad of sources to extract pertinent details is a meticulous process.
Furthermore, constructing a coherent and logical argument within the essay is essential. The
writer must articulate a clear thesis statement, supported by a well-structured body that
seamlessly transitions from one point to another. This requires careful planning and organization
to ensure the essay's flow is both smooth and persuasive.
Addressing potential counterarguments and offering viable solutions adds another layer of
complexity to the essay. Balancing different perspectives and presenting a comprehensive
analysis requires critical thinking and a nuanced understanding of the chosen problem-solving
topic.
In addition to content, attention to detail in terms of grammar, syntax, and overall writing style
is crucial. An essay that is riddled with errors can detract from the strength of its argument and
diminish its overall impact.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Problem Solving Topics For Essay" demands a multi-faceted
approach. It necessitates the ability to select a compelling topic, conduct thorough research,
construct a coherent argument, and polish the final product to perfection. Despite its challenges,
mastering the art of crafting such essays can be immensely rewarding in terms of developing
critical thinking skills and contributing to meaningful discourse.

2. Struggle for Equal Work Essay
Struggle for Equal Work
The development of the Lowell Mills in the 1820s provided American women with
their first opportunity to work outside the home with reasonable wages and relatively
safe work. About ten years later however, working in the mills wasn t the same.
Working conditions became more vigorous, the mills were unsafe and the pay
received didn t match the amount of work done.
The Lowell family s textile mills were set up to attract the unmarried daughters of
farm families, hoping that they would work a few years before getting married. These
young women were called Lowell Mill Girls. A typical working day in the mills
started with a factory bell ringing at about four in the morning to wake up employees.
After this, employees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conditions in the mills during the 1830s were terrible. Lighting was a problem in
the mills causing the workers to strain their eyes to see what they were doing. This
was to make sure they were working productively and to avoid injuries from tools or
machinery. Comfort wasn t something women were used to while working in the
mills, especially in the boarding houses where they stayed.
Unmarried women who worked in the Lowell mills lived in boarding houses
within the area. A widow was usually the supervisor in these places and was
responsible for the moral and physical well being of the girls. The women were
required to pay about a dollar a week to live there and the money was taken directly
out of their paychecks. About 30 women lived in the boarding houses with about six
living in each room. The rooms, which had three beds, were poorly ventilated,
overcrowded, lacked privacy and infested with rats and roaches.
A 1930s mill worker said, In vain do I try to soar in fancy and imagination above
the dull reality around me but beyond the roof of the factory I cannot rise. Women
today would not stand for these conditions. We live in a world today where women
hold just the same jobs as men. Work such as in the textile industry wouldn t be a
popular job to fill since there are so many opportunities today. Women are still
struggling for equal pay in some situations, but overall, working

Feelings of beauty, perfection and obsession are made very clear in The Birthmark
and in Ligeia, Both husbands are obsessed with their beautiful wives. After going
over each of the stories in class the stories made more sense and I noticed small
details that made each of the stories more clear. I pondered to myself if Aylmer truly
loved his wife Georgiana or if he really just obsessed over the idea of perfection. I
also thoughtabout The narrator s drug addiction of opium in Ligeiaand how this could
affect his feelings towards his wife. I do not question that the narrator loved his
wife in Ligeia, but in the birthmark I think Aylmer was truly just consumed with the
idea of perfection which he made it very clear to Georgiana this birthmark was the
cause of her not being perfect. Aylmer could ot possibly of loved his wife if he
thought so harshly of the birthmark on her face. Loveto me is accepting everything
about someone and caring for them. Aylmer said it himself He said It was a defect
and it was more intolerable with every moment of their united lives (Hawthorne
341). This tells the reader that he could not truly love his wife and from this line on
it made sense to me that Alymer might have just not been all there. He was obsessed
with the idea of perfection not realizing there is no such thing as perfect. I pictured
him as a crazy doctor in a lab. At first Georgiana thought of her birthmark as unique
and different, but Future events like Aylmer s dream made it

Introduction
For my whole life, I have grown up watching and playing Australian Rules football,
so I knew immediately that I wanted to research a particular aspect of the game. I
wanted to look at the importance of skills in the AFL (Australian Rules Football)
and the influence of coaches in developing these skills to improve a player s game.
These ideas came together to produce 5my research question which is To what extent
can a coach have an impact on an AFL team? I created many sub questions in order
to break this question down into different parts. To achieve my overall aim, I needed
to examine the qualities, which a coach possessed, in order to get the best out of his

sychChildren s Imaginative Play: A Descriptive Psychology Approach
Charles Kantor, Ph.D. Abstract
The significance of children s imaginative play is presented from the perspective
of Descriptive Psychology and in particular Ossorio s Dramaturgical model of
persons. The fluidity of imaginative play, the imitation of and creation of social
practices and options within play as well as the opportunity to switch roles and act
according to reasons of another, contribute to the development of judgment. The
observer critic role emerges during imaginative play as children produce, direct, and
enact their dramas. Within these scenarios, children develop competence and
eligibility to be not only status assigners but also self status assigners. During ... Show

The self and self concept The psychoanalytic theorists (Freud, Erikson) see children
playing out negative emotions in a safe context. Children are attempting to regain
control in situations of conflict. Mead stresses the importance of role playing in
children s play, which activity contributes to a child s sense of self (Verenikina et al,
2003). Erikson (1963, p.240) in describing a young client struggling with the
wartime death of his father, a pilot, illustrates the healing value of play: ...he was
observed swooping down a hill on a bicycle, endangering, scaring, yet deftly avoiding
other children.... In watching him, and hearing the strange noises he made, I could
not help thinking that he again imagined himself to be an airplane on a bombing
mission. But at the same time he gained in playful mastery over his locomotion; he
exercised circumspection in his attack, and he became an admired virtuoso on a
bicycle.

This description of a young boy playing imaginatively illustrates elements that
theorists over the years have attributed to the value of play. His role play was
distinctly social as others witnessed his attack, and his actions increased his stature,
his prestige among his friends. His ability to handle the bike, his cognitive strength,
circumspection in his attack , as he swoops down the hill, is noted as well. His self
esteem increased to the extent that he

7. Amazing Grace by Jonathan Kozol Essay
Jonathan Kozol s book, Amazing Grace, analyzes the lives of the people living in the
dilapidated district of South Bronx, New York. Kozol spends time touring the streets
with children, talking to parents, and discussing the appalling living conditions and
safety concerns that plague the residents in the inner cities of New York. In great
detail, he describes the harsh lifestyles that the povertystricken families are forced
into; day in and day out. Disease, hunger, crime, and drugs are of the few everyday
problems that the people in Kozol s book face; however, many of these people
continue to maintain a very religious and positive outlook on life. Jonathan Kozol s

kind towards Kozol. When Kozol discovers Cliffie s heroes are Michael Jackson
and Oprah he inquires, Have you read about George Washington? Cliffie answers, I
don t even know the man (Kozol 8). This quote suggests the lack of legitimate
education that these children are receiving in school. The teachers in the district are
not always certified and the classroom environment is less than desirable. Kozol
visited an area where, only 15 teachers in a faculty of 54 were certified. (Kozol 155).
The relation between most of the inner city kids and their teachers results in a vicious
cycle. The kids can be unruly and disruptive, therefore the teacher, often times may
feel hesitant to put forward effort into his/her teaching. Due to the lack of teaching
and discipline, the students may continue to be ignorant and incompliant with
authority. With the continuation of this process and the lack of an authoritative
figure at home or at school, some children may grow up and become involved in
crime related activities.
In addition to Kozol s educational related complaints, he stresses the healthcare
problems that plague the downtrodden people as well. On the book jacket, Kozol
states that: One fourth of the child bearing women in the neighborhoods where these
children live test positive for HIV. The hospitals in the area are also substandard,

The Singularity is Near: Book Response The Singularity is Near was written by Ray
Kurzweil in 2005. Kurzweil looks into the near future and confidently predicts where
we, as a species, will find ourselves. The Singularity is a future period at which
artificial intelligence will match and exceed the intelligence of humans, including the
problem solving skills, pattern recognition, even emotional and moral intelligence of
the human brain. We will reach this point relatively soon. Kurzweil estimates that the
Singularity will arrive in 2045. An important reason why we are reaching this point is
exponential growth. As time goes on, we double the growth of computing
consistently. As you can see in the chart on the right, the growth of computing has
increased drastically. This is because it increases at an exponential rate instead of
linear. Linear growth is steady; exponential growth becomes explosive. An
exponential rate is when numbers are continuously multiplied by a... Show more

Characterization and Motif in Ethan Frome In literature, winter and cold are
commonly associated with death, however, when it comes to cold in this excerpt, the
more prominent motif of cold represents the lack of affection. In Ethan Frome, Edith
Wharton makes excellent use of the similar motifs of cold and ice to characterize
Zeena. Throughout the excerpt from chapter two, these motifs heavily contribute to
Zeena s cold self, her treatment towards Ethan, and their dimming relationship
relationship, In the excerpt, several references are made to cold (or lack thereof). In
paragraph 11, it mentions that, when Mattie and Ethan enter the kitchen where Zeena

It is evident that throughout the course of the novella (and even just this excerpt) that
friction and tension between Ethan and Zeena continue to build. Ethan clearly has
more affection toward Mattie than he does Zeena. In paragraph 12, Ethan goes into
the house stamping the snow from his boots . Since Zeena is commonly associated
with snow and cold in the novella, Ethan stamping the snow from his boots is like
stamping Zeena into the ground: crushing their relationship and any affection that
existed between them. Similarly, in paragraph 14, Zeena claims that maybe Ethan
shook off that snow outside , alluding to the idea that going out with Mattie allowed
Ethan to again shake off Zeena and what they had between them. Another example of
a similar instance occurs in paragraph 20, when Zeena exudes that The fire s out long
ago. Zeena holds the power over the relationship between her and Ethan. While Mattie
thinks that Ethan shows affection (fire) for her, it is truly Zeena who controls the
fire, and claims to have put it out long ago, meaning that the relationship between
Ethan and Mattie is insignificant, and in Zeena s

and is closely associated with commercial and contract law. Corporate attorneys are
experts in the various laws that regulate the formation, configuration, and termination
of corporations. They also construct joint ventures, licensing arrangements, mergers,
acquisitions, and all of the other legal dealings of corporations (Corporate Law,

On the other hand, major threats to the law industry may include the appearance
of various websites offering legal advice online. In order to gain an accurate
understanding of the legal industry s market position at any given time, this
analysis must be constantly conducted. Challenging Forces Each individual firm
within the industry has to consider a few other challenges as well. Competitive
rivalry is an intimidating force for almost all law firms across the world, primarily
because there are just so many firms involved in the industry. Of course, these
firms have varying levels of skill and quality of services. For a firm like Cravath,
Swain, Moore, this is likely not as concerning as it is for others. Because they hire
only the best attorneys, the firm provides some of the highest quality services in
the industry. This generates customer loyalty and strengthens their position in the
legal services market. Existing firms with strong positions are also relatively well
protected against the threat of new entry. In order to enter the market, a new
competitor would have to spend years and a small fortune attending law school
before even being allowed to take the exam that would grant him or her eligibility
to do so. Even after graduating law school, there is no guarantee that the individual
will pass the bar exam. If he or she is indeed lucky enough to pass, it will still take
large quantities of time, money, and resources to bring

Abstract
Patient satisfaction is considered an important element of the quality of healthcare,
a leading indicator of patient outcomes and a top priority for hospitals and
providers. There is an increased need to improve quality in the delivery of
healthcare services, partly due to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
pay for performance reimbursement methods. Adjustments increasing to 2% in 2017
will affect more than 3000 acute nursing facilities nationwide. The Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services uses the Hospital Consumer Assessment of
Healthcare Providers and Systems survey that measures ten specific aspects of a
patient s care, and results are reported publicly. There has been a great deal of
discussion for and against the survey on all levels of healthcare. Research indicates
that a customer service approach is the leading indicator of patient satisfaction. A
better customer service approach is the product of satisfied employees. Nurses play a
significant role in the customer service approach, including advanced practice nurses.
Improving Patient Satisfaction
[Patient Satisfaction]. Patient satisfaction is a patient s level of contentment with the
comfort, quality and perception of overall well being in regards to the healthcare they
obtain. Patient satisfaction is subjective and often multifaceted making it very
difficult to define (Morris, Jahangir, Sethi, 2013). A patient s anticipated expectations

Ray Bradbury
Ray Bradbury was a dreamer. Bradbury had a skill at putting his dreams onto paper,

durable. His work consists of short stories, which are not hard to publish, and keep in
the public eye. His stories have stayed in print for nearly three decades.
Ray Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920, in a small town of Waukegan,

Shortly after his marriage to Marguerite Susan McClure in 1947,
Bradbury s first book, Dark Carnival, was published by Arkham House. About this
time, the idea for an important book about Mars, a collection of loosely connected
stories, came to Bradbury.
The subjects that engage Bradbury s pen are many: magic, horror, and monsters;
rockets, robots, time and space travel; growing up in the Midwest town in the 1920 s,
and growing old in an abandoned Earth colony on another planet.
Despite their themes, his stories contain a sense of wonder, often a sense of joy, and
a lyrical and rhythimic touch that sets his work apart.

The world is not an easy place to get by in. Whether it s the physicality of the world
itself or the forces of nature, there is so much variation in the breadths of danger
present that survival is difficult if not impossible without the ability to
dynamically respond to these challenges. Simplicity, though robust in its nature,
could not possibly thrive in a world like ours. Life, it seems, is up to the challenge
though, and the response is more than just a single answer. Rather, the life found
on earth is so diverse, so different from one another; it would fly in the face of the
challenge presented. That said, none of the forms of life could be complex enough
to avoid mistakes. Missteps that lead to damage and damage to failed survival.
What is seen from those mistakes is not an acceptance of failure and an inability to
go on, but rather a dogged determination to recover from and overcome. The
complexity needed to survive poses a problem as the process to recover becomes
just as intricate. So intricate that it could not possibly be fully covered in all its
depths with just a handful of pages. However, this paper will attempt to cover in a
more general manner what occurs and point out some details of the more complex
processes occurring. The goal of this paper is to explore the method by which a

inflammation, tissue formation, and tissue remodeling. Cutaneous wound healing, or

create coursework that is relatable to the lives of the students while promoting a

to learn inside of the classroom, but she also went out of her way to enforce

20. Clyfford Still Museum Case Study
Introduction This document breaks down some of the financial information that
was accessible for the Clyfford Still Museum. Much of this information was
gathered during an interview conducted at the beginning of the year for another
assignment, however it was incredibly applicable here for this assignment as well.
This document also briefly touches on the museum expenses as well as its attempt
at and donation solicitation. Finances The Clyfford Still is a unique organization in
many ways. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and generally operates like a
normal 501(c)(3), asides from the security provided by the Clyfford Still Museum
Foundation. The Clyfford Still Museum Foundation is also classified as a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit. This governing body has its own board of directors separate from the
board of the museum itself. According to the museum s Director of Marketing John

Clyfford Still Museum to always operate without a deficit (Eding 2018). This

21. Race in A Different Mirror’ by Ronald Takaki
In the first Chapter of the book A Different Mirror by (Takaki, 1993) the author
embarks on a descriptive narrative that tries to elaborate the concept of a multiracial
America. The chapter begins with the author taking a taxi ride in which he is
subjected to racial discrimination. The taxi driver questions the author s origin owing
to the fact that his English is perfect and eloquent. This incident prompts a discussion
that transpires throughout the chapter as the author tries to explain to his audience
that America is a multiracial country with different ethnic groups that moved from
their homelands to settle in the United States. The chapter discusses the settlement of
various racial groups such as; English immigrants, African... Show more content on

The first theme proclaims the royal monarchy by presenting the individual authority
held by both the King and the queen. King Ferdinand of Aragon is established as the
ruling authority of the Spanish kingdom. His daughter Queen Juana is presented as
the ruler of the two regions of Castile and Leon. God is recognized as the supreme
creator of both the heavens and the earth. The origin of man is explained through the
creation of Adam and Eve, whom are the original ancestors that all men and women
descended from. The author then tries to explain the events that led to the formation
of kingdoms, which is attributed to the fact that a single kingdom could not be
sustained. This resulted in the division of mankind into various kingdoms.
The second theme elaborates the transition of power from God to the monarchs.
This transition occurs through an intermediate institution that transfers divine
power through religious mechanisms onto a political leadership. Divine power
form God is transferred onto the Papacy that is given supreme authority and
dominion over all men. St Peter is the first pope whose kingdom is centered in
Rome form where he rules over all men: Gentiles, Jews, Christians and any other
religious groups. The Papal lineage is established as the supreme power structure
and all Popes that descend from St Peter are treated with the same respect and
proclaimed as lord and king. One such pope is responsible for donating the lands of
the Americas onto the King and
22. Moon Landing Is Not A Hoax Essay
That s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind was the famous quote
made by Neil Armstrong when landing on the moon. This was most impressive feat
of innovation in the history of mankind but some conspiracy theorist think it was all
just a to political stunt. This people who think it is a hoax have no idea what they are
talking about because they are either crazy or do not trust the government. The
evidence that support the moonlanding are abundant, these include achieving it
numerous amounts of times, the soviet union did not dispute it, and finally the
numerous amounts of rock samples brought back.
To begin with, the moon landing is not a hoax because they achieved this impressive
feat nine times and why would NASA fake it so many times and over exaggerate the
lie it if it was a hoax. If it were a hoax someone within the organisation would get it
wrong over the course of those nine trips, and the fact that they did not slip once
means it is true. One of the astronauts on the Apollo 16 mission states that, we have
been to the moon nine times, why would we fake it nine times, if we faked it? . If
NASA faked it those nine times then it must have been a waste of billions of tax
payer s money on a hoax. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the Americans had made any mistakes on their information about landing on the
moon, then why did the Soviet Union not discredit this impressive feat in human
history? The political damage that the Soviet Union could have brought on the
American people would have been enormous, because of the tension of the Cuban
Missile Crisis in 1962. Some people of course though that the Soviet Union were in
on the hoax but think of the tension that existed between the two countries at the time
and how much the Soviet Union would have liked to have embarrassed the
23. Narra Tor Rhyme Scheme
Along with visual aspects, rhyme, and rhythm Love and a Question also has a
specific form, language, and ideas. The form of the poem in relation to the rhyme
scheme is a simple 4 line which is an abcb rhyme scheme repeated throughout the
poem; Robert Frost does not stray away from the abcb rhyme scheme once during
Loveand a Question. The rhetoric in this poem expresses the speaker as a
descriptive individual. The narrator describes the stranger asking for shelter with
the eyes more than the lips, and he road this stranger travelled upon as a weary
road, such word choice implies the narrator is a very eloquent and thoughtful (21).
The narra tor sees the need in the stranger s eyes for shelter and notes the tiring
journey this stranger has been on thus far, this rhetoric also demonstrates specific
word choice of the narrator. The narra tor chose words like weary to express the
long and tiring journey the stranger has been on up till this point, the road he
traveled to get to the bridegroom s house was extensive and wearing (21). Another
example of word choice by the narrator is the word bore in the statement He bore a
green white stick in his hand, the stranger was not just carrying this green white...

The last statement reinforces the conflict between as selfishness and human
compassion as the narrator is still undecided and conflicted on whether to let the man
in or just give him some aid and send him off. This last sentence also displays the
title of the poem in Love and a Question the bridegroom has a love, who is his bride,
and a question about whether he should spend the night solely with her or let the
needy stranger stay with them. By ending the poem this way, the bridegroom is still
left with an unsolved internal conflict, the same internal struggle that mani fested

24. Themes Of The Princess Bride And Diablo 3 And Billy Budd
In literature, there are many written works which have themes that intermix with one
another. While literature contains many themes, this does not mean that other
works do not contain the same ideas as presented in written works. In the three
stories of The Princess Bride , Diablo 3 and Billy Budd Violence and Quests can be
seen largely throughout each tale. Violence, while still having the tradition sense of
the word, does not always mean fighting someone or physical attacks. Violence
thematically is the display of aggressive actions verbally, physically, or even
aggression leading to a goal. The other overarching theme in these stories is that of a
Quest. Any self realizing adventure where the protagonist realizes is considered a
quest thematically as well as a large set goal for as seen within the story. The main
themes of The Princess Bride, Diablo 3 and Billy Budd are Quests as well as Violence
which show a deep connection on a thematic level.
In The Princess Bride by William Goldman the story starts both as an explanation of
the story s origin as well as where the story should go. Even in this prolog to the
story a quest is outlined. And I realized that I had let control of it go. . . They could
change anything they wanted. So I did something of which I am genuinely proud. I
bought the book back from the studio, with my own money (Goldman xxxv). Even
before the story begins a quest was set before the reader. The quest of a man to have
the book he loved

Your local restaurant doesn t charge you a fixed price and tell you to gorge yourself
on whatever comes out of the kitchen. Most restaurants operate on an Г la carte

Cable companies don t operate like that. Comcast and AT T package all that food and

Pampers ad is showing the world that we live in is a dangerous place, and it is not

recently occurred. The world of social media and instant gratification that we are
all exposed to is alarming. This ad is saying that in our culture, parents protect their
children and value their safety. Pampers conveys this idea because they know that
parents want protection, safety and comfort for their babies. This advertisement has
a positive effect on society as it shows the audience that our population has
important values and that safety is a top priority. These values will potentially have
a positive effect on our future generations. This ad makes parents reflect on the
importance of taking care of their children and protecting them to the best of their
ability. This Pampers advertisement is saying that Pampers will ensure comfort for
your baby. As time has progressed, advertising has had and still has the ability to
convey messages to consumers. Society is rapidly changing, but values that will not
change are parents desires to protect their children. This advertisement shows that
parents seek the power and privilege of the protection of their kids and Pampers is

31. The Rocking Horse Winner Selfish Quotes
Trapped In D.H. Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner, Paul is a young boy at a
very impressionable age, whom desperately wants his mother s love and attention. He
is observing and learning about life from his environment and the people who occupy
it. Paul s mother, Hester, because of her own selfish desires, unknowingly contributes
to her son s acquirement of unhealthy behaviors. Paul believes, to his mothers blame,
that luck brings money and money brings happiness. Hester s internal selfishness,
dissatisfaction and beliefs seem to lead Paul to his ultimate demise. First, Hester s
selfishness is portrayed in her character through her innermost feelings for her
children. According to the narrator, [Hester] felt they had been thrust upon her, and
she could not love them (484). A typical mother s love is unconditional and is
expressed through nurturing, protection, guidance and affirmation; this helps
children grow and develop into healthy minded adults. Instead, Hester is so
consumed with herself and the image she maintains; that, even though she does not
say it out loud, it becomes quite obvious to her children that she does not love them
and they [can] read it in each other s eyes (485). This selfish personality in Hester

As reported in the Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal, the Consumer
Financial Protection Bureau recently announced that prepaid cards and digital mobile
payment services like Venmo, PayPal, and Google Wallet, will have protections
placed on them similar to those placed on credit cards and traditional banking
transactions. These protections include clearer fee disclosures, restrictions on card
issuers like the obligation to investigate and resolve errors, and limiting consumer
financial losses when cards are lost or stolen.
There are differences in the implications for those who use prepaid cards and those
who use digital payment services. Prepaid cards are used to make financial
transactions just like those carried out by credit cards, but their market is catered
toward those with lower incomes roughly 23 million Americans. Digital payment
services, however, are more likely to be used by those in the middle to upper
classes. Digital payment services must be tied to credit cards and bank accounts.
This difference in market share results in different impacts for prepaid card and
digital payment service users. The implications for digital payment service users
relate to fees, market share for the companies, transaction times, and data security.

The Signalman, by Charles Dickens; The Battler by Ernest Hemingway
In what way do the two authors create and maintain interest and suspense in their
stories?
In Charles Dickens The Signalman the story starts by introducing the main character
(a railway signalman). Another character is also introduced: the narrator. Dickens
describes the signalman as a dark sallow man and as having a dark beard and heavy
eyebrows . It seems that Dickens wishes to portray the signalman as a dark and
ominous figure. However, he then sheds some light on the character of the
signalman. Dickens portrays him to be very lonely and afraid of something. This is
shown in the way he turns himself about and looked down the Line when the ... Show

Another way in which Dickens shows this is by making the signalman appear to be
a little strange. This is done, at first, by his lack of speech: He looked up at me
without replying . Dickens continues this suggestion (the signalman is insane) when
he does finally speak. He speaks only in a low voice, adding to the suggestion of
danger. Then he tells the narrator what is wrong: the ghostly sightings. This again
makes us question his sanity.
Dickens maintains this suspense that he has created with use of a leitmotiv of the
red light, which is linked to the menacing apparition and maybe an accident on the
railway. When the narrator leaves after the first visit the signalman still has not told
him the full story about the apparition. We have to wait until their next meeting to
find out for ourselves. This leaves the story as a so called cliff hanger and encourages

On their second meeting, the signalman tells the narrator, and us, of the accident that
seemed so obviously linked to the apparition by the fact that every time it appeared
there was an accident on the line somewhere. After, sustaining the suspense through
the first meeting of the two men, Dickens creates even more with the revealing of this
ominous event. Dickens then maintains
40. Migration To California During The Great Depression
In a lot of cities in the United States in the west especially in states like California
there is a small section in that city. That has people from the Midwest that have
settled in. In that part of town there are people from Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansan
that all migrated when the dust bowl was accruing. Or as a lot of people know them
by the okies. These people migrated to California during the 1930swhen after the
country was suffering from the great depression. The great depression had happen
after a lot of Europe countries were striating to recover from the First World War. At
first those countries were relying on the United State for food, because after the war a
lot of those countries were destroyed. So during that time the united state
41. The Relationship Between Men And Women
I love my past, I love my present. I am not ashamed of what I have had, and I am
not sad because I no longer have it. ( Sidonie Gabrielle Colette ). Colette was a free
spirit; she lived her life the way she wanted, and wrote about things no one else dared
to write about at the time. Colette s themes were extremely revolutionary as they
related to the relationship between the sexes, the strength of women, and her own
personal experiences.
A lot of Colette s works are based around the relationship between men and women.
Her family s negative marriage experiences were the basis of her view on the sexes.
She knew that her mother s first marriage had failed ( (Sidonie Gabrielle) Colette )

Colette s female characters are very independent in their stories, respectively.
Colette was concerned with female independence, and the degree to which women
will pursue their own independence. (Jurgens). Colette s mother was a huge
influence in her life and this is reflected in her writings. This strong maternal
attachment continued to influence her well into adulthood and old age. ( (Sidonie
Gabrielle) Colette ). In Two Memories of Sido Colette reminisces on how loving
her mother used to be and how depressed she became due to her failed marriage.
Colette also frequently wrote about the lesbian image . Colette s powerful depictions
of lesbians continue to influence the way lesbians are perceived. (Jurgens). She
depicted them as individuals whose nature cannot be encompassed with a single
label. (Jurgens). Colette illustrates female characters who are fully alive, sexual
beings aspiring to their own physical happiness. ( (Sidonie Gabrielle) Colette ).
Many of Colette s themes are based on her own personal experiences. At the age of
19, Colette was married to Henri Gauther Villars. Her view on society was very much
influenced by this marriage because he forced his young wife to produce novels that
would satisfy his prurient and financial interests ( Sidonie Gabrielle Colette ).
Working for him, near him, taught me to distrust him, not to know him better.
(Jurgens). This quote from Colette herself accurately
42. Joseph Snowden Research Paper
What is a rebel? A rebel is an individual or group of people that want to cause damage
to their current government. A rebel is irritated with their current government,
because they are unhappy with the current social structure. This definition is often
associated with physical violence. However, we currently live in a society where not
only physical violencecan cause harm. Technology can also cause severe harm to a
government. Also, a rebel is fueled by a belief of heroism, and does not consider
themself to be a criminal. Correspondingly, both physical and technological harm to
an individual s current government fueled by heroism defines a rebel . Physical

43. How Did Industrialization And Collectivization
Industrialization and Collectivization from late 19th century to 1939
Soon after Lenin s death, in 1924, the Communist Central Committee launched the
first five year plan attempting to position the new Soviet state into the club of
Western developed nations. The Bolsheviks wanted first to demonstrate that the
communist ideology could match the achievements of those countries and do so by
uplifting the standards of living of workers and peasants.
Though a true economy needs a multitude of interrelated skills and business flows to
achieve efficiency, the Bolsheviks had simplified the masses into two major classes,
the Workers and Peasants (this is well exemplified by the hammer and sickle on the
Soviet flag).

After Lenin s death, the NEP was discontinued (with the corollary of executions and
deportations for the New Capitalists who had dared to participate in it). Between
1928 and 1932, Stalin fearing invasions from Western nations in a fragile Soviet
state, created massive industrial centers requiring thousands of male workers, a
group that had been already much afflicted by huge losses during WW I, the civil
war and organized famines.
It is worth noting that from 1860 till 1914, Russia made very significant progress to
become a modern state, catching up fast in the Western industrial world (large
metallurgic plants in St. Petersburg, Moscow and in the Urals, coal extraction in
Ukraine, Oil drilling in Bakou, production of cereals in the South East, ...).
Nevertheless, the new wealth was not evenly distributed and led to widespread
frustration among the population. Similarly, living conditions for workers migrating
to industrial sites were poorly built, creating an ideal hotbed for the nascent Soviet
44. India s Goals for Conservation
Goal 1 Promote Conservation of Biological Diversity of Ecosystems, Habitats and
Biomes
India s count of the Protected Area Network (PAN) has increased especially post
the Programme of Work on PAs by the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)
in 2004, by a 15 percent. Almost all state owned forests and other important
ecosystems which are outside the PAN were also under some kind of broad based
conservation planning. Fourteen more potential sites were considered to get
designated as Biosphere Reserves. Apart from the Wetlands, Coral reefs and
Mangrove Conservation areas, research and development activities are also being
supported for their management. So far out of the 115 wetlands in India, 25 have
been recognised as Ramsar sites and 6 more are being pushed forward in
consideration for the same. Initiatives for Lake Conservation the MoEF has been
implementing the National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP) since 2001 for
conservation of polluted and degraded urban/semi urban lakes, leading 10 lake

Crack Cocaine Addiction at It s Best
In quite a few lower class communities, phrases like your mom is a crack head, or
shut up crack baby are said jokingly to make fun of someone during what we call a
rip session. Although said as a joke, some are very offended by the comments.
Why? because for some, crack addiction hits too close to home for comfort. Seeing
how easy it is obtained in lower class and poverty stricken neighborhoods, many find
themselves falling victim to the powerful substance, crack cocaine. Low sociable
economic systems are just one of the many factors that can lead to the use, and
addiction of crack cocaine, others include movies, music, peer pressure, alcohol and
cigarette ads. In this report I will discuss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the first high is so pleasurable, many continue taking the drug in search of
the first high they experienced. They try taking larger and larger doses to recapture a
high that can never be obtained again.
Pretty soon they ll find themselves having to use crack just to feel normal again.
This is the physical dependency stage. It occurs when the user has built up such a
high tolerance from frequent usage, that their body basically forgets what is normal
so they have to maintain a continuum of the drug to ward of the withdraw effects.
As a result of usage, anxiety and depression can last for weeks. Attempts to stop
using the drugs can fail simply because the resulting depression can be
overwhelming, causing the addict to use more cocaine in an attempt to overcome his
depression. This is the point in which you get the more stereotypical crack addict.
They begin to steal from their family and friends, miss work/school, prostitute, and
do just about anything they can to get the money to support their habit. They begin to
short or try to get over on the person who is selling them drugs, which can result in
violence. Some even become drug dealers themselves so that they can pay for the
drugs that they use.
The final stage of addiction is the deteriorative stage. This is basically the stage in
which the user has nothing left. They may be homeless because they ve spent all
their money on crack so they were unable to keep up
46. The New York City Department Of Education
The New York City Department of Education (DOE) serves 1.1 million students
across schools ( About Us ). During the Bloomberg administration more than 140
schools were closed with no indication that the administration s closure policy
improved outcomes for students in the city s struggling schools ( Standardized
Testing Is Counterproductive, Corrosive and Corrupting ). Several studies have
detailed the damage and disruption the city s closure policy had on struggling schools
in high need populations with significant academic challenges (Fruchter). Bloomberg
s educationpolicies were guided by The No Child Left Behind law, which required
standardized testbased school reform including annual testing, greater flexibility for
states and increased teacher qualifications in order to receive federal funding
(Ujifusa). This standardized testbased school reform trend continued under the Obama
administration s with the Race to the Top program. Race to the Top rewarded states
that used exams and data systems to track the performance of students and teachers,
among other initiatives (Cite).
These accountability policies paved the way in 2007, when the Bloomberg
administration introduced its School Progress Reports and Achievement Reporting
and Innovation System (ARIS). The school s report card graded schools on a scale
of A through F based on three factors: school environment survey (15%), student
academic performance (25%) and student academic progress (60%) ( School Quality

Workplace Violence in Health Care
Morgan L. Hofmeister
Baker University School of Nursing
Abstract
This research paper discusses workplace violence, specifically the nursing
population. Using results from previous research conducted, negative factors
impacting a nurse and solutions to this issue are explored. There is a lack of
reporting causing this issue of workplace violence to be difficult to determine
interventions and bring about public awareness. Looking at the historical background
of workplace violence in health care settings, researching the emotional and physical
effects on nurses, discovering the effects on work competency, and uncovering the
facts on federal legislation of this issue warrants the importance ... Show more content

Besides using governmental data and statistics to compile information regarding
workplace violence in health care settings, voluntary surveys are taken (Stokowski,
2010). These surveys and reports of violence are usually unreliable due to the nurse
s lack of ability to remember the incident, fear of affecting patient satisfaction scores,
uneducated on the reporting policy, or concern for questioned competency
(Stokowski, 2010). It is said that seventy percent of physical abuse towards nurses
are unreported and many nurses never seek treatment (Stokowski, 2010). The
hesitancy to report is sensible when incidents reported reviewed are often questioned
by the nurse s actions and solutions are addressed to prevent another occurrence
(Stokowski, 2010). These approaches administered by health care facilities imply that
the nurse is at fault. Sadly, nurses are often reprimanded or fired defending
themselves against violence (Stokowski, 2010).
Physical Impact
An Emergency Nurses Association study found that, every week between eight to
thirteen percent of emergency department nurses are victims of physical violence
(Trossman, p. 6, 2010). The physical repercussions of violence can include a physical
injury, anger, chronic pain, loss of sleep, disability, muscle tension, anxiety,
irritability, and nightmares (Gates,
48. The Spiritual Exercises Of Ignatius Loyola
I will explore a few of unique approaches as outlined in the Spiritual Exercises of
Ignatius Loyola. I will describe my experience of integrating some of the concepts of
spiritual direction into my practice.
Barry and Connolly in their book The Practice of Spiritual Direction say that, we
define Christian spiritual direction as help given by one Christian to another which
enables that person to pay attention to God s personal communication to him or her, to
respond to this personally communicating God, to grow in intimacy with this God
and to live out the consequences of the relationship . Smith says that spiritual
direction rests on the assumption that each Christian believer has the capacity for an
immediate relationship with Christ. This means that the Christian, in real time,
encounters the crucified, risen and ascended Lord . Therefore, my understanding of
spiritual direction is that it is an attempt to help Christians to listen to God s voice, to
develop intimate prayer life and relationship with God and to grow in response to
God.
Ignatius Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises promotes our capacity, through our
prayers, to hear Christ s voice and to use our senses to feel and experience His
presence. Smith says, Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius Loyola is very focus on Jesus
or, more specifically, on the Jesus story: his birth, life, death and resurrection. In
prayer and through the guidance of the Exercises, we are drawn into the Jesus story
so that our lives
49. Jane Smith Family Case Study
The Smith family is in the same situation as many other families that live in the
United States. A young single mother is trying to raise two children by herself with
no income. Lucky for them, there are several government funded programs that are
there to help them to form a better life. However, there are certain requirements for
several of the programs. The Smith familyshould meet most of those requirements.
They have until the end of the month before all their resources are cut off. The
number one priority for this family would be to create some type of income. Jane
Smith, the mother, is currently unemployed and did not work long enough to receive
unemployment. She has two small children, but she receives no child support from
their father. The programTANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
distributes cash assistance to needy families. The amounts awarded range from two
hundred dollars to nine hundred dollars based on the size of your family and the
state you live in. At this point, any amount of income would be great for this family.
Jane could possibly use this money to find a stable housing.
The family currently lives at the Salvation Army, but they must leave at the end of the
month. There are several housing programs run by the Department ... Show more

Jane has two young children, William age four and Sally age two, who will need
nutritious food to help with their physical and mental development. One of the food
assistance programs is called SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).
Each month the participants receive money on debit card that can be used in most
grocery stores. The debit card can usually not be used for items other than food.
Another food assistance program is WIC (Women, Infants and Children). This
program provides food assistance for pregnant women and children under the age of
five. Either of these programs would allow for Jane to purchase the food that her

Kneeling During the National Anthem Should Not be Allowed
Although NFL athletes are a huge figure in America today, they still choose to
disrespect their country by kneeling during the National Anthem. I believe kneeling
during the National Anthem is unpatriotic, separate s teammates and the community,
and is also bad publicity. This has caused people to protest the NFL by doing things
such as burning their season tickets. Kneeling during the anthem has caused a huge
controversial issue that is impacting many. This has not only caught the attention of
adults but also children. The NFL is now losing its focus on football and putting
more focus on politics.
First off, kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic. This is the greatest
country in the world. It gives everyone who comes here an opportunity in life, and
the right to pursue a life of happiness. It is crazy to think Americas finest football
players will still disrespect our Anthem. This problem has gotten so big that even
our president has had strong words concerning the issue. President Trump has taken
to twitter multiple times saying how unpatriotic it is. Also, how it should be illegal
and players who are choosing to kneel should leave the NFL. With that being said,
there are still NFL players who stand in support of the Anthem. Some coaches do not
allow players to stand alone, like Mike Tomlinof the Pittsburgh Steelers. Instead
these players they hide in the locker room during the Anthem. In my opinion,

European Union: history, policies and facts
European Economy

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union of 27 member states
which are located primarily in Europe. The EU traces its origins from the European
Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) and the European Economic Community (EEC)
formed by six countries in the 1950s. In the intervening years the EU has grown, in
size, by the accession of new member states and, in power, by the addition of policy
areas to its remit. The Maastricht Treaty established the European Union under its
current name in 1993. The last amendment to the constitutional basis of the EU, the
Treaty of Lisbon, came into force in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

European Communities (EC), although commonly just as the European Community.

The Iron Curtain s fall in 1989 enabled eastward enlargement. (Berlin Wall)
In 1973 the Communities enlarged to include Denmark (including Greenland which
later left the Community in 1985), Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Norway had

elections to the European Parliament were held.
Greece joined in 1981, and Spain with Portugal in 1986. In 1985, the Schengen

In 1990, after the fall of the Iron Curtain, the former East Germany became part of the

Lake Hillier I have been working on a project for World Geography class that was
assigned at the beginning of the week. On Monday, Mr. Smith took the class to the
computer lab and explained our project. He gave us a link to a webpage that listed
50 natural wonders around the world. There were things like lakes, mountains,
islands, and other really beautiful and amazing places. I already know about a
natural wonder that wasn t on the list, so I decided to research it. My natural
wonder is in Australia. It s called lake Hillier, which people often refer to it with
the obvious name, Pink Lake. Unlike other colored waters that only show color in
certain light, Lake Hillier is pink all the time. I chose this natural wonder because I
