Writing an essay on the topic of "Essay Writing Video" can be a challenging endeavor. The
complexity arises from the need to balance the theoretical aspects of essay writing with the
practical demonstration through a video format. Crafting an essay requires a deep understanding
of the subject matter, and in this case, it involves delving into the nuances of essay composition
while considering the unique challenges and opportunities presented by a video format.
One must navigate through the intricacies of explaining the fundamentals of essay writing, such
as thesis statements, body paragraphs, and conclusions, while simultaneously addressing the
visual and auditory elements essential for a video presentation. Striking the right balance
between informative content and engaging visuals poses a unique set of challenges, as the essay
must not only convey information but also demonstrate effective video communication
techniques.
Moreover, the writer must be adept at articulating the significance of incorporating multimedia
elements to enhance the overall learning experience. This includes discussing the choice of
visuals, the use of voiceovers, and the pacing of the video to maintain viewer engagement.
Crafting a cohesive narrative that seamlessly integrates both the written and visual components
requires careful planning and execution.
In addition to the technical aspects, the essay must delve into the pedagogical considerations of

2. Ganobcik Invention Of The Magnetic Resonance
Phenomenon
In 1946, two men, Felix Bloch and Edward Purcell, discovered the magnetic
resonance phenomenon and just 4 years later the first magnetic resonance image was
created. By 1977, a scientist, Raymond Damadian, after receiving a patent to build a
magnetic resonance imaging machine, produced the first MRI of a human body. This
new technology through the work of many scientists was evolved into the MRI
scanners used by doctors throughout the world today. This invention has changed the
face of modern medicinebut, unfortunately in The United States, MRIs scans cost a
more, on average, than any other country in the world, and are being misused at a
staggering rate. In order to fix these issues, health care professionals and consumers
of MRIs must step... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although more difficult to do, this action would prevent doctors and radiologists
from charging unfair amounts to read a simple scan. In an article for The
Washington Post, author Ezra Klein reports In 2009, Americans spent $7,960 per
person on health care. Our neighbors in Canada spent $4,808. The Germans spent
$4,218. The French, $3,978. If we had the per person costs of any of those countries,
America s deficits would vanish. Workers would have much more money in their
pockets. Our economy would grow more quickly, as our exports would be more
competitive (par.2). This solution benefits more than just the wallet of consumers but
potentially offers a way to help the economy as
3. Reflection Of The Last Supper
The Last Supper The Last Supper was painted by da Vinci between 1495 and 1498.
It is 15 feet wide by 29 feet long and it is not in a museum, it is in a church. This
painting depicts the last supper that was celebrated by Jesus and his disciples, as
told in the Gospel of John, and the reactions given by each disciple when Jesusreveals
to them that one of them would betray him. Starting from the left and moving to right
the each individual figure is as follows:
Furthest to the left is Bartholomew. Next to him is James, son of Alphaeus, and
Andrew. These three men appear to be surprised. Next to Andrew is Judas Iscariot,
Peter and John who formed the next group of three. Judas is holding a small bag in
his right hand which could mean two things; either as a symbol of silver that was
given to him as a payment for betraying Jesus, or could be a reference of him as the
treasurer of the twelve disciples. Peter, who is next to Judas, looks angry and he is
holding a knife and this could in a reference where Jesus was arrested and he cut off
one of the guard s ears, which was later restored by Jesus. And then there is the
youngest apostle John. In the center ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

4. J.P. Morgan and Ragtime Essay
John Pierpont Morgan:
The turn of the century in American, when E.L. Doctorow s novel Ragtime is set,
was a time marked by rapid technological developments and industrialization. These
years also brought a heavy flood of immigrants as well as an increasingly urban
American landscape. Technological advancements enabled increased efficiency and
mass production. However, Doctorow clearly brings into question the consequences
of this new technology for the average American worker. J.P. Morgan s discussion
with Henry Ford about the assembly line s innovations brings this debate to the front.
Doctorow writes, quot; From these principles Ford established the final proposition of

did receive a promotion in the firm later in his career. In 1860, Morgan left
Duncan, Sherman and founded J. P. Morgan and Company to act as an agent for his
father s business. When Junius Morgan died in 1890, J.P. became head of the
London house. Pierpont now was able to control all the dealing between the New
York based firm and their oversees partner.
Pierpont was now at the head of houses in New York, Philadelphia, London, and
Paris. He was the commanding figure in international finance. In 1869, a war over
railroads began, including Jay Gould and Jim Fisk, both famous financiers. Gould
already had dominant control over the Erie railroad and began to buy up stock in
the Albany amp; Susquehanna Railroad. Morgan developed into the nation s
railroad reorganizer. In 1886, the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad was in great
difficulty with a deficit of six million dollars a year. Morgan was brought in to
slash the value of the watered stock, reduce interest rates on the bonds, and assess
the shareholders for more money. 1888, J.P. Morgan was again called on to
reorganize railroads in the east. He reorganized the Chesapeake amp; Ohio and the
Baltimore amp; Ohio. He often encountered some resistance
5. Plea Bargaining In Criminal Cases
Austin VanDevender Application Assignment #3 A plea bargain is an agreement
between a defendant and a prosecutor; in which the defendant agrees to plead guilty
in exchange for an agreement by the prosecutor to drop one or more charges,
reduce a charge to a less serious offense, or recommend to the judge a specific
sentence acceptable to the defense (Berman, 2016). A great majority of criminal
cases today are actually not decided in courtrooms but are decided by pleabargaining.
There are normally three different types of plea bargaining. The most common type
of plea bargaining is charge bargaining. This is where the defendant agrees to plead
guilty to a lesser charge provided that greater charges will be dismissed (Berman,
2016). An example of this could be getting charged with attempted burglary instead of
burglary. Next is sentence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plea bargaining helps attorneys by saving time. Plea bargaining is generally fast
and efficient. It allows attorneys to focus on bigger, more important cases which
will impact society more. This relieves pressure on attorneys by not having to go
to trial. Also it can impact attorney s salaries. In some cases, it may be in their best
interest to get rid of a case quickly. Many states impose caps on the amount of
allocated to the representation of indigent clients; these amounts do not provide
adequate compensation for the time and expense of bringing a case to trial
(Guidorizzi 1998). The defendant can also benefit from a plea bargain. If the
defendant pleads guilty without a trial then the prosecutor can drop one or more
charges, reduce the charge, or recommend a specific sentence. Lastly the victim can
also benefit from plea bargaining. A plea bargain can bring closure to the victim by
knowing the person who is guilty is not getting away with the crime, Also the victim
will not have to worry about testifying. (Guidorizzi

7. The Meiji Restoration
During the Meiji Restoration, Japan went through many changes as it was exposed
to foreign powers such as Europe. One of the political changes that occurred was
that Japan was forced to begin interaction with their foreign peers as they came with
their several innovations that were incredibly advanced compared to what Japan
could offer at the time. This not only exposed their in ability to compare to their
peers, it also revealed that they were technologically backwards in the eyes of their
peers. As Japan continued to interact with their neighbors, Japan adopted several
sayings that embodied the goals they had in the effort to catch up to and match their
foreign peers as well as other changes in the effort of forming a new society that can
match their peers. When Japan became open to the world powers like Europe, Japan
went through a transformation that modernized Japan and inherently changed their
society to reflect something similar to those in European countries. In Japan, their
first reaction to being forced out into the open interaction with powers like Europe
was to immediately develop ways to match their power. One of their reactions
included adopting sayings that stated goals for Japan that would benefit its power.
Another response was to authorize new official documents that affected Japan as a
whole. A large change that occurred was the shift in government, shifting from
feudalism to an empire with a single emperor. These changes were factors that in time
shaped

9. Network Topologies And The Network
Introduction Network Topology is how computers, printers, and other devices are
connected over a network ( Guide to Network Topology , 2015 ). The word
topology means shape and the term network topology refers to the shape of a
network ( Guide to Network Topology , 2015). Network topologies refer not only
to the physical layout of the devices connected but how the devices communicate to
each other ( Tomsho, Tiffel Johnson, 2004, pg 48 ). There are several different
topologies and the choice of a topology is determined by how the network works.
The network cabling system carries all the data from one point to another and the
design is determined by how the network should function, the reliability and how
accessible the network should... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is used from one end of the network to the other with different network devices
called nodes. Bus topologies are commonly used on LAN networks because they
are inexpensive and easily install. In today s business society, bus topologies are
not commonly used and in the past years 10Base2 Ethernet, Thin Ethernet and
10Base5 are examples of LAN technology that uses bus topology. The structure of
bus topologies is where nodes are connected to a central cable called a bus where
messages are sent by a nodes and travels along the bus through all other nodes (
Guide to Networking, 2015 ). Bus topology networks use coaxial cables and at the
end of each network segment there is a terminator ( Hallberg,2014, pg 39 ), The
terminator is important for a bus topology to function properly, without a
terminator the data will bounce from end to end causing a signal bounce ( Guide
to Networking, 2015 ). Bus topologies are not commonly used today but were
easily installed and used less cable than other topologies. Bus topologies work best
with least number of devices. Bus topology does not handle heavy traffic well,
therefore; if more than dozen computers are added you will mostly see performance
issues. Although bus topologies are has the advantage of being the least expensive
and user friendly, they do have their drawbacks. Some disadvantages of bus
topologies are the network is easily to be disruptive. To add or remove a computer
the network has to be completed shut

many as the day of infamy (Franklin D. Roosevelt, December 7th 1941). The surprise

The attack on Pearl Harbor was planned out very well by the Japanese, due to
knowing that the American ships were in port on Sunday the 7th of December
1941 and also where each ship was located. The Japanese pilots had maps, photos
and models of the bay so they would be prepared and also able to distinguish their
main targets. At the time of the attack the Japanese infantry advanced in two
separate striking forces. The attack consisted of over three hundred Japanese planes
all six of Japan s first line aircraft carriers, Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, Hiryu, Shokaku,
Zuikaku and also many fast battleships, torpedo bombers, destroyers, submarine and
midget sub s.
In the early morning of December 7th 1941 at approximately 7:55am the leader
Mitsuo Fuchida led the first attack wave to Pearl Harbor. The first strike force
consisted of 180 aircraft
, included torpedo bombers, high level bombers and fighters. The unprepared and
unsuspecting American military on Oahu had little or no warning about the attack
and were very surprised and shocked when they heard the loud noises of the
Japanese planes. Not long after the first raid at approximately 8:45am a second strike
force of Japanese infantry reached

12. Biological Warfare In Vietnam War
In many cases, war is fought in order to gain something. It could be territory, or
wealth, or power, but in some cases it is fought simply to kill. A type of warfare that
exemplifies this is chemical and biological warfare. These attacks are aimed simply
at killing everybody. In addition, most people think of biological warfare as a very
recent wartactic, dating back not much further than agent orange, deployed in
Vietnam. In fact, one of the first and one of the most devastating instances of
biological warfare occurred much earlier, in 1347. This was the attack that brought
the black plague from it s origins in western Asia to Europe through Caffa, a city on
the modern Crimean peninsula.
Though originally the plan of the attack was to capture the city, it ended with
massive death both in the city, and millions of deaths in the surrounding countries.
So although biological warfare is considered a modern tactic, one of the most
devastating attacks ever involved biological warfare at the siege of Caffa in 1347. ...

15. Wealth And Pride In My Last Duchess By Robert Browning
In the dramatic monologue, My Last Duchess Robert Browning tells of a Duke that
murdered his wife because she was easily pleased by the advances of other men. In
the poem, the Duke is the speaker and is guiding a guest through his home until they
come across a portrait of the Duchess. Through the Dukes speech, it is obviously that
he is a very prideful person and cares a lot for his wealth. Due to his wealth and
status, he has become arrogant and demanding. When he desires are not fulfilled he
will go to the extreme and kill someone. Robert Browninguses literary devices such
as symbolism and allusion to reflect the themes of wealth and pride. The symbolism
in the poem is an important aspect that demonstrates the pridefulness and wealth
16. Essay about Good vs. Evil in Psycho
Psycho
Psycho is a classic suspense film directed by Alfred Hitchcock which features a
central female protagonist, a seemingly ordinary young woman named Marion Crane,
who crosses paths with a dangerous mentally ill motel owner, Norman Bates. As their
strange relationship develops, a dominant theme of good versus evil is introduced to
the audience through the use of characterisation, editing, mise en scene and various
other media techniques.
From the outset, Hitchcock introduces an initial theme of good versus evil during the
opening credits. The title scene could be seen as a reflection of the personality of
Norman Bates as the credits themselves are presented as fragmented titles which
come together as one on the screen but then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In a similar shot, only half of his face is shown and this clearly symbolises the fact
that only one half of him can ever be fully good at any one time the other half will
always remain evil. However, sympathy is also evoked for Norman in this scene as
we see that his mother takes an instant dislike to Marion something which you
would not normally see between two strangers. We see how close and slightly
strange the relationship between Norman and his mother and the unnatural
dependence they have on each other, showing that Norman is trapped in his current
situation and making him seem like a good person. A similar effect is used
throughout the scene in Norman s parlour by with the use of light and dark as the
lighting picks out significant features such as only one side of Norman s face and
the underside of the owl s wings. The owl with its wings spread signifies his
mother controlling his mind and shows that she is ever present, although we never
see her, even when he is behaving normally she will always be inside his mind,
therefore making the viewer feel sympathetic towards him as he has no control over
his actions. Conversely, framing him next to an owl may suggest that Norman is a
predator and the owl is his equal. Like the owl, many other birds are featured in the
parlour scene, linking back to the recurring theme. Framing Marion next to them
when she first enters the room makes her seem vulnerable and presents her as equal

traditional style of Leadership. From their mission statements, along with reviews
from flyers and profitability, to the overall culture of the companies, we look to see
how these two airlines compete, and which one comes out on top.

seem placed there simply because it is required, not because they are values followed
by the actual organization. Both Airlines include words about customer service and
treating them well, but Southwest put it simply and concisely. United seemed more
focused on impressing readers with their core values. I believe that the Southwest
mission statement impacts the culture of the organization by being a definition of
what it should look like. Comparatively, I believe that United s core values impact
the culture very little if not at all.
Principles
Southwest Airlines is dedicated to incorporating all servant leadership principles
throughout their organization. Accordingly, their mission statement is clear and

organization. Their mission statement embraces their commitment to serve the
highest quality of customer service through a sense of warmth, friendliness,

Southwest s mission statement it makes it explicitly apparent that they seek to listen
and commit to the growth of their people. Southwest empathizes with their

necessarily the right thing to do, but in the end the war was worth it because of
the land, partnerships, and power America gained as country because of the
soldiers, leaders, and nations braveness. According to Arlington National
Cemetery, Colonel Charles Denton Young, a child of former slaves, grew up
craving military involvement after his father enlisted as a private in the 5th
Regiment of the Colored Artillery Volunteers. He got accepted into the U.S.
Military Academy at West Point after graduating from an all white high school
with honors at age 16. Graduating with honors at 16 was already a challenge in
itself, but Charles proved to overcome that challenge, also while being the only
african american in his class. After learning a lot from West Point, he graduated in
1864 as the 3rd african american to ever do so in history. Charles literally went the
extra mile by graduating from both high school and West Point in the top of his class
when some people treated him like he wouldn t be
20. The Law Legal System And Cost Management
Introduction
The Master of the Rolls instructed the Lord Justice Jackson to review the rules and
principles governing the costs of civil litigation and to make recommendations in
order to promote access to justice at proportionate cost. Sir Rupert Jackson made a
hundred and nine recommendations. This essay will not delve to analyse each
recommendation however its purpose will be to examine to what extent were the
objectives set out achievable. It is crucial at this point to mention that since the
United Kingdom prescribes to the common law legal system and there has not been
any established case law to determine whether the objectives have been achievable
or not, my analyse will be supported by articles from notable law scholars such as ...

Lord Justice Jackson is optimistic that this discretion will only be exercised in
exceptional circumstances however Prof. Zuckerman would find this contradictory in
the sense that the Jackson report demonstrates the judiciary s failure to curb down the
costs. He states that history of costs teaches us that discretion in costs creates
expensive satellite litigation and no cost reduction in the long run.
Cost management in Multi Track system.
One of Lord Jacksons recommendations to reduce costs of litigation is to control the
costs by proposing a system of cost management. It is defined as the process where
the costs incurred by the defendant or respondent are actively controlled by the courts
by determining whether the costs incurred were rightly incurred or were reasonably
incurred.
Lord Jackson goes on further to note the elements pertaining to it and in a sense
establishes its procedure
The essential elements of costs management are the following:
(i)The parties prepare and exchange litigation budgets or (as the case proceeds)
amended budgets.
(ii)The court states the extent to which those budgets are approved.
(iii)So far as possible, the court manages the case so that it proceeds within the
approved budgets.
(iv)At the end of the litigation, the recoverable costs of the winning party are
assessed in accordance with the
21. The Crucible Red Scare
Although at first glance The Crucible seems to be a playwright loosely based on a
writer s own take on The Salem Witch Trials, it actually is based on the events in
the 1950s called the Red Scare. The Red Scare was a series of events starting in
1919 and ending in the 1960s that shook America. The cause for the 1950 Red
Scare that inspired most of the work in The Crucible comes from a man named
Joseph McCarthy who was a former American Senator. Senator McCarthy was one
of a few who lead the investigations and allegations during the Red Scare and
prospered because of it. McCarthy s false claims and anti red crusade are what
inspired some of the events that are seen in The Crucible and give the reader a sense
that change is considered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people including a well renowned witchcraft expect, John Hale, are even
questioning the proof of the court and the very little evidence they can play with.
Even in the book are main character John Proctor says I say God is dead! since he
can no further convince the court of his and others innocence as well as the
guiltiness of the girls. And as we ultimately know John Proctor is then accused and
hung later on. Ultimately after the witch trials ended the legal system in
Massachusetts recognised the trials as being trialed wrongfully and those who
were sentenced to hang, such as John Proctor, were now deemed innocent. This to
happened during the Red Scare as McCarthy was to be a liar and was wrongfully
accusing others and getting them thrown into jail, luckily no one was executed
during the Red Scare. The people were stunned to see that one of their own, a
government man, had been faking the whole ordeal in order to become a senator.
This is what also brings up other factors of play such distrust towards the judges by
certain characters due to their incompetence too see the false witcher the girls are

22. Motivation Of Princess Diana
Princess Diana was an inspiration for many people around the world and used her
royalty to highlight major social issues. Diana s dedication to humanitarian work
helped to promote awareness and raise money for a wide range of charitable causes,
including her campaign against landmines and her kind hearted approach to the AIDS
predicament. Dianacrossed boundaries to offer support to casualties and worked hard
to change the opinions of the general public, which didn t particularly follow royal
protocol because she lead from the heart, not the head.
Princess Diana reported that her prime motivation was to try and help the most
vulnerable people in society. She stated to the BBC s Martin Bashir It is a goal and
an essential part of my life, a kind of destiny. (Bulman,2017) Diana was influenced
by a need to serve others,as she had the drive to make people feel loved and cared for.
She believed that the best way to help someone heal was by offering them affection
and kind words. Diana utilized herself as a public figure to distribute her charity
works to increase global awareness for the greater good.
Princess Diana concentrated on six charities that she deeply cherished, Centrepoint; a
London group that aids homeless youth, the Leprosy Mission; cancer benefits, AIDS
/HIV, and the International Red Cross on landmine issues. Diana was a key
figurehead in lifting the spirits associated with AIDS and HIV victims.(Bulman,2017)
Diana also had the same ambition for Leprosy
23. Lack Of Training On Drug Disposal
Low concentrations of pharmaceuticals have been detected in the natural
environment throughout the world. They vary in composition, and can remain in the
environment for months to years. Although a portion of this pollution is from
veterinary pharmaceuticals used for the treatment of pasture animals, there is still a
significant amount of pollution that derives from pharmaceuticals found in
prescribed and over the counter medications for humans (Boxall et al., 2012). Health
care providers are responsible for adhering to the regulations that govern the disposal
and elimination of pharmaceuticals within their respective workplace. Due to the vast
amount of time spent with patients, nurses have a special role in the prevention of...

An alternative method to flushing is to mix the unwanted medications with an
undesirable substance such as coffee in a container, and place it in the trash
(McCullagh, Schim, Ortner, 2012). Mixing helps to hide and reduce the use of the
drugs from drug abusers and seekers (school nursing). The disadvantage of disposing
medications in the trash is that landfills can often times run off, and access the water
supply (Taras, Haste, Berry, Tran, Singh, 2014). In the hospital setting, most inpatient
medications go directly down the drain (Strauch, 2011). Diluting is another method
that involves adding a solution to a medication to minimize its effects.
Pharmaceuticals are dangerous to the environment, because of their ability to cause
change.
Long term care facilities and hospices are the primary sectors of the healthcare
community that contribute to environmental pollution. Hospice home care and home
health nurses have a unique part in aiding the efforts to reduce unsafe elimination
and disposal of pharmaceuticals. They provide end of life care to patients, and teach
caregivers to manage, store, and dispose medications in a safe manner (McCullagh et
al., 2012). They are also responsible for documenting the disposal of medications.
Typically, patients in these settings have frequent changes in medications, and are
usually with polypharmacy. According to Blake,
24. Dynamic Characters In Tartuffe
In Tartuffe MoliГЁre uses Alexandrine verse a style of poetic writing that
dominated French poetic and play writing for centuries (Gainor 536). Lines with 12
syllables with each syllable containing one vowel or one semi vowel characterize
Alexandrine verse (Nell). MoliГЁre used these couplets because they were standard
for the time period and formed a rhythmic flow to the line without using the classic
iambic pentameter verse. This type of verse is still held in high regard with French
poets (Nell). Tartuffeis a farcical satiric comedyof manners defined by the
exaggeration of human nature and blissful ending. Generally comedies are
characterized by jovial conclusion, obstacles to over come, and amplification of
normal behavior. Comedies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mariane represents the classical ideals that a young woman and daughter should
follow, where Dorine challenges the standards for a lower class woman. Dorine s
early interactions with Orgon and Madame Pernelle give us a clear picture of her
intentions to defy her place in society. Even through the degrading comments
toward her constantly throughout the course of the show Dorine keeps her
strength and spunk to combat the plague in the house (MoliГЁre 2.3.159). Her
strength is a direct foil to Mariane s weakness. When Orgon insists on Mariane s
marriage to Tartuffe, Dorine s reaction is much stronger than Mariane s. Mariane
quickly succumbs to the idea even though her heart is set on ValГЁre while Dorine
confronts Orgon about the situation and calling the idea prosperous and absurd
going as far as voicing to him your daughter is not meant for this zealot she s too
innocent (MoliГЁre 2.2.6, 2.2.26 27). While Dorine merely goes along with the
charade and says that to be a proper daughter she must marry Taruffe, so in order to
get out of the marriage she must kill [her] self (MoliГЁre 2.3.57). This dissimilarity
in characterization conveys the changing social structure of that was occurring during
the time period that Tartuffe was written. The clash of the classical structure and the
emerging middle class is represented perfectly by
25. An Independent Woman in the Film, Agora
When I was reading Subverting Sex and Love in Alejandro Amenabar s Agora, I
noticed how Paul portrayed an aspect I had appreciated while watching the film
Agora. As I watched the film Agora I noticed how in contrast to the other movies we
have seen in class the female character was not defined by her relationship with men.
For example, in the film Cleopatra, the femalelead Cleopatra was defined in terms of
her relationship with men. Even though Cleopatra was involved in politics, she and
to win the love of Antony and Caesar in order to get power. Paul states this idea in
Subverting Sex and Love in Alejandro Amenabar s Agora, when he states that Hypatia
cannot be defined primarily through her relationships with men. (Paul, Subverting
Sex and Love in Alejandro Amenabar s Agora, 230) As I watched the film Agora, I
noticed how Hypatia voiced her opinion in front of men with no fear and
appreciated the scenes which portrayed her findings. For example, in the scene in
which Hypatia is with Aspasius and discovers the model of the ellipse, the
heliocentric model. To me, to have an Ancient Roman film portray the intelligence
of a women was a positive aspect of the movie Agora. Also, her students in the film,
such as Synesius and Orestes were loyal to her and tried to help her in the end of the
film. Hypatia s bravery is also portrayed in the scene in which in class, she presents
him with her bloodied menstrual rag, telling him that there is little harmony or
beauty in the
26. Current Crm And Erp Systems And Procedures
We have evaluated our current CRM and ERP systems and procedures. Currently,
there is a custom module that is causing performance issues including failed
registration orders. This results in Customer Service staff having to re enter
registration orders, as well additional work for Finance staff. This custom module
also creates a barrier when upgrading our ERP system.
Eliminating the custom module in our ERP system will relieve our system of these
performance issues and allow the Registration orders to be processed within another
system, GoSignMeUp. This will result in a more effective process and also allow
Retail Sales to be processed differently. With less stress on customer duplicates, our
ERP system can integrate with the website web ... Show more content on

Since the CRM and ERP system was not built out of the box to handle registrations
in any form, CRS has used a third party application to handle those types of orders.
That third party app was clunky, slow and caused many data integrity issues.
In April 2014, we removed that application from the systems and customized a
module of the ERP system to handle registrations. This was a major improvement for
our internal processes and system performance. It put our system back to a more
normal, out of the box setting, with the minor custom configuration to an ERP
module. However, there are still some issues with this custom module:
Sometimes the system does not register the participant correctly, and re invoicing has
to occur
The ability to upgrade is effected we would have to remove the custom module,
upgrade the system, and reinstall an upgraded version of the custom module. This
would require more development time.
The current custom module prevents us from integrating into the website which
would be ideal for streamlining the retail product order process
This report will discuss my proposal for a project of implementing an online
registration and event management system. Specifically, GoSignMeUp (GSMU).
Essentially, this will separate the Retail Sales order process and the Registration
order process. This will eliminate the need for a custom module in our existing ERP
system.
GoSignMeUp vs. Custom Module
We would implement GSMU to process registration

Descartes Arguments for the Real Distinction of Mind and Body
Descartes argues has three main arguments for minds and bodies being two different
distinct types of substance. These are known as arguments for substance dualism and
are as follows.
* The Argument from doubt : Descartes argues that while he could pretend or think
that he had no body and therefore did not exist in any place, he could not think or
pretend he had no mind, as merely having a doubt that he had a mind proves that he
does.
* The Argument from Clear and distinct understanding: Descartes argues that if two
things can be separated even if only by god then they must be two different things.

Further more the mere doubt that you exist is proof that you in fact exist as how
can you doubt something unless you are existing. I assuredly existed, since I was
persuaded. But there is I know not what being, who is possessed at once of the
highest power and the deepest cunning, who is constantly employing all his
ingenuity in deceiving me. Doubtless, then, I exist, since I am deceived; and, let
him deceive me as he may, he can never bring it about that I am nothing, so long as
I shall be conscious that I am something. So that it must, in fine, be maintained, all
things being maturely and carefully considered, that this proposition
(pronunciatum ) I am, I exist, is necessarily true (Descartes Meditations, II,
p16,17). Descartes s also says that clear perception, clarity and distinctness are
present in the cogito, he says that these qualities are essential in being sure of
anything. Clearly perceiving something might mean that you think you are sure of
it but you could be wrong, Clarity and distinctness of perception means that you
recognise the reasons for the claim made by clear perception for what you believe
to be true being true, Descartes called this the mark of knowledge. Together the
cogito and the mark of knowledge set a firm foundation for all of Descartes s
conclusions by showing that he and all of us exist and that we can be certain about

28. Comparing Two Works Of Art Essay
Comparing two works of art
For my final project, I will compare two pieces of art and show the comparisons
and differences that they have in the Greek ancient period and the modern period of
the same theme the representation of the Trojan war . The visual work art is a
bilingual art because it was made with the participation of two artists, Andokides
(Red figure) and the Lysippides (Black figure) and it is titled Achillesand Ajax
Playing a Dice a Game . It was painted in 525 520 B.C in Greece and it represents the
ancient Greece. The literary artwork I will consider is The Iliad, an epic poem by the
ancient Greek poet Homer in 750 BCE. I will compare both artworks and connect
them to the contemporary period debating the similarities and differences that the
poem and the ceramic have and how they influenced our modern world, which help
the creation of the film Troy led by Brad Pitt, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom in 2004.
The bilingual amphora was painted in Athens, Greece during the ancient Greek
period in a black figure and red figure style. This was a typical style in Athens,
Greece at that time and it was mainly to decorate fine pottery. Most of the amphoras
were made in sections initially (neck and body) and were put together afterwards
(the foot and handles). This pottery was not for everyday use, but it was affordable
for most of the population. This fine Greek pottery goes back to the Minoan and
Mycenaean pottery of the Bronze Age. The black figure technique focused
29. An Analysis Of Edgar Allan Poe s The Tell Tale Heart
Insane in the Membrane
Edgar Allan Poe is one of the most acclaimed short story writers of all time and is
considered the father of the psychological thriller. He has achieved ever lasting
fame for his work in various fields of literature, from prose to verse. However, it is
his Gothic narrative, in the short story realm he is greatest known for and is
regarded as one of the foremost masters of horror that the United States has ever
fashioned. The crucial component to these horror stories is usually the characters
insanity. The madness that inflicts the main characters in these stories drives them to
commit the acts that they do. For instance, it is the madness of the narrator in Poe s
The Tell Tale Heart that allows him to murder his beloved employer. Edgar Allan Poe
weaved stories of intrigue, such as The Cask of Amontillado and The Tell Tale Heart,
each of which have characters that share the common element of insanity that renders
them incapable of controlling their dangerous impulses of murder.
One noticeable example of the element of insanity and its use as character
motivation can be found in The Tell Tale Heart. Opening with the lines, True
nervous very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am; but why will you say that
I am mad? , this story describes the attempts of the narrator to rationalize the murder
he had just committed against his own employer (Blum, 13). A servant to a rich, kind
man, the narrator has every reason to feel
30. George S. Patton Rhetorical Leadership
Respected by most, yet feared by many, General George S. Patton was one of the
most profound leaders the United States Army has ever had. He took part throughout
the Mexican Revolution, World War One, and dominating the stage throughout World
War Two. His career as an officer took stage shortly after his graduation from The
United States ArmyMilitary Academy, where he branched as a cavalry officer
(Patton, Wikipedia, 2017). Inpatient and young, he eventually went on his first
deployment as a lieutenant to take part in the battle of San Miguelito. It was in
Mexico that Patton met General John Joseph Pershing, where it is believed that he
based a lot of his military leadership styles on the way Pershing led his troops
(Pershing, Wikipedia, 2017). Through imitating Pershing, George had some of the
most courageous leadership styles known widely throughout, where many praised
his bravery, yet several found him foolish. Following the battle of San Miguelito,
Patton was promoted to Captain and appointed by General Pershing to the head of
the new AEF Tank Corps. (Pershing, Wikipedia, 2017). It was throughout the process
of developing the AEF Tank Corps. that I feel Patton demonstrated his most profound
adaptive leadership trait, drive. George Patton was driven in anything and everything
he did for the AEF Tank Corps. He implemented his own ideas, tactics, design,
uniform, and procedures in a way that revolutionized war (PATTON 360, 2015). The
United Stateshad never had an armor

Starbucks
Compare and Contrast Organizational structure Starbucks
Introduction
Starbucks company is not just about coffee but an organization wherein human
connections are fostered; community involvement is encouraged and different
cultures are celebrated. Diversity is valued and respected because it is instilled as an
integral part of the culture of the company enabling commitment of all employees
(Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). As depicted in the visual
below, Starbucks is a company that has not been prevented from establishing its
global presence due to cultural differences between home and foreign countries
(Peters, Dehon, Garcia prieto, 2015).
Operations
By having a mission statement which conforms to inspiring and nurturing human
spirit focusing at a time on one person, one cup and one neighborhood, a positive
influence is being created. As a company wide diversity strategy, the four areas
focused upon are: partners (employees), customers, suppliers and communities
(Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). Employees are also referred
to as partners and the organization pursues individuals who are as diverse as the
communities being served. With the goal to provide exceptional customer experience,
Starbucks connects with customers in a culturally relevant way to be able to
recognize and respond to customers unique preference and needs (Starbucks The Best
Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.). Through strategic partnerships and economic
development opportunities, Starbucks supports and invest in local neighborhoods
and globally to deepen their ties in the communities. Through a supplier diversity
program, Starbucks works towards building business relationships with minority and
women owned suppliers (Starbucks The Best Coffee and Espresso Drinks, n.d.).
Due to differences in beliefs and values across countries, there is mixed evidence
from existing cultural research on the effect of national cultural differences and on
international operations (e.g., Hofstede, 1980; House, Hanges, Javidan, Dorfman,
Gupta, 2004). International business studies have conceptualized cultural differences
as a double edge sword (Reus Lamont, 2009) with both process gains and
32. The Crucible By Comparing The Salem Witch Trials
A quote by Edward R. Murrow states, No one man can terrorize a whole nation
unless we are all his accomplices. During the Red Scare, Senator McCarthy did
terrorize a whole nation, and Arthur Miller became a victim of McCarthyism. Miller
suffered through accusations of possibly believing in communism; as a result, he
wrote a play called The Crucible, in which he used the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 to
explain the communist hysteria during the 1950s. Arthur Miller develops an allegory
in The Crucible by comparing the Salem Witch Trials to McCarthyismby using
ringleaders, persecuted couples, and hypocrisy in the government or legal system.
Certainly, Miller creates a parallel using ringleaders such as Senator Joseph McCarthy
in the 1950s, and Abigail Williams in The Crucible. Without a doubt, Joseph
McCarthy remained the ringleader of the Red Scare; similarly, Abigail Williams
became the ringleader of the afflicted girls. The House of Un American Activity
Committee (HUAC) hunted for communists or communist sympathizers during the
era of McCarthyism, just as the court hunted for witches throughout The Crucible.
Joseph McCarthy led the HUAC, and accused many citizens of attending communist
meetings and taking part in plans to make the United States a communist country.
McCarthy even said, I have here in my hand a list of two hundred and five people
that were known to the Secretary of State as being members of the Communist Party
and who nevertheless are still working and

Duluth has three main places to visit. Duluth has many opportunities to go and visit,
whether it is to take a vacation or just passing through. The spots that many people
visit are the Lift Bridge, Chalk Days, and the famous Glee sheen mansion. These
three are the main points in Duluth because they are great places to make amazing
memories. The Lift Bridge is a stupendous bridge that gets much attention from
tourists. The past, structure, and the visitors all make up what is special about the
Lift Bridge. History of the Lift Bridge starts off with the span beginning its life as

The man who drew the designs for the bridge was John Low Waddell. The people
of Duluth were eager to build the lift bridge, which would have been about 130 feet
wide. However, the War Department declined the design that John Waddell made,
and the project was canceled before it could be built. Waddell s design went on to
be built in Chicago. New plans were later drawn up for a structure that would bring
people from one side to the other. This type of bridge was first demonstrated in
Bilbao s Vizcaya Bridge in 1893. The Lift Bridge was then finally completed in
1905. After the history is learned the structure is very important as well to know.
The height of the Lift Bridge is 180 feet when completely raised and the length is
386 feet and weighs approximately 900 tons. The bridge is very similar to the only
other one of its kind in the world, which is in Rouen, France. The last and most

1 Second Industrial Revolution: Following the first Industrial Revolution, the
Second Industrial Revolution, also known as the Technological Revolution,
proceeded to emerge at the tail end of the 19th century, going into the 20th century.
Like the First Industrial Revolution, this revolution provided an advancement of
technology, but with more tedious inventions. These advancements helped
America pave ways for better communication with the telegraph, updated sanitation
elements such as water supplies and sewage systems, and cumulated a new wave
of globalization. 2 Knights of Labor: the Knights of Labor started out as a group of
tailors who met in secrecy to provides the workforce with fair rules and regulations
such as fair pay and and no child labor laws. This is important to modern day
society because it sets a standard in the workplace for equality for all sexes,
genders, and ages. 3 Haymarket Riot: In 1886, labor rights movements were on a
course to change unconstitutional labor laws. At one of the rallies, an unknown
person threw a bomb at the police, leading to eight deaths. With no evidence, the
police persecuted multiple labor rights activists, setting back the progression of fair
workplaces. 4 American Federation of Labor: The American Federation of Labor
emerged a one of the first labor unions of the late 1800 s. It was formed to meet
immediate demands of workers, which pleased politicians in a way in which they
would not have to meet unrealistic
35. The Great Gatsby Love Analysis
In the classic story of The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald shows multiple times
that real love does not exist in the world. In the classical story by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, he shows many affairs go on in the story and that their is fake love in
the world. When this story was written it was coincidentally similar to his actual
real life. The characters life and problems were very similar to what was going on in
his life. In the book of Horst H. Kruse called F.Scott Fitzgerald at Work: The Making
of The Great Gatsby, he goes into detail of how the great and classical story of The
Great Gatsby was made and why he chose certain characters as they were and the
whole plot planning of the book. In the book of Kruse we discover that Fitzgerald...

F. Scott Fitzgerald had fallen in love with Ginevra King before Zelda Sayre but she
had also left F.Scott Fitzgerald because he was not wealthy and did not have fame.
Another way Fitzgerald shows that love does not exist in this cruel world is
shown here She only married you because I was poor and she was tired of waiting
for me. It was a terrible mistake, but in her heart she never loved any one except
me! (Fitzgerald 130). Daisy did love Gatsby for a short period of time until she
gave up on him and her love grew more with Gatsby s money, just as she married
tom for his wealth and fame. Also another example of this is in Fitzgerald s
personal life, Fitzgerald s had been divorced from his first wife may have had to
tell himself, the author s decision to fill the protagonist of his novel with his own
emotional life certainly accounts for the fervor of Gatsby s feelings and the
credibility of his quest. (F.Scott Fitzgerald at Work: The Making of The Great
Gatsby ). This quote shows that when Fitzgerald wrote the book The Great Gatsby
his intention was to use his own personal love life in the book and use himself as
one of the main protagonist in the story. Fitzgerald was Gatsby in the story because
just as Gatsby left for the army so did Fitzgerald and Zelda left him because of his
parting and once

This is a very clever idea as it is really effective in helping the audience to remember
the story because they can link it to something they already know. This tale is
about a father who wanted a son but had a daughter, Maggie, instead. Sadly, when
his wife finally fell pregnant with a boy, the baby died during birth so, trying to
cheer the mum up, Maggie wandered into the bush to find flowers. However, she
went too far and became lost only to be found five days later, dead in a hollowed
out tree. Again, they release the child s spirit from the orphanage by flinging a
sheet into the air. The nursery rhyme used in this section of the play is Ring a Ring
a Rosie and it is a clever use of intertextuality as it creates a foreboding mood
through the use of foreshadowing since Maggie sings it at the start of the section.
This is the third story told so at this point the audience will recognise a sort of
episodic plot. The orphans go through their daily duties, chores and horrific
encounters with The Black Skirt, then at night time find themselves awoken by the
storms and the restless spirits trapped within the orphanage walls. Space is used
well within the set and location of the play as the actors find themselves on a
relatively small stage that is quite full with few, but large props. They move around
with what can only be described as perfect choreography that allows them to flow
from each action to their next position on stage. It is interesting to note that this
performance of Children of The Black Skirt took place in an empty church, a clever
use of symbolism that aided in the audience s recognition of the spiritual elements
that were key in the play s
37. Atlanta, Ga Vacation Spots Essay
Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I have been to many places like Paris,
France, and many other places, but one of my favorite places to go to is to Atlanta,
Georgia. In Atlanta, there are many places to go and sights to see. For example, Six
Flags, Stone mountain Park, and the Atlanta Braves Stadium, are all in or near the
city of Atlanta. These places are family oriented and are easy to get to by a car, or a
bus.
Six Flags is a theme park that has anything from sweet treats to fun rides. Six Flags

My favorite activity is the laser show. The laser show takes place on the mountain.
Stone Mountain Park is also a main focal point for the 1996 Olympics.
Lastly, is the exciting Atlanta BravesStadium, I spent most of my time there when
visiting Atlanta. The stadium is always packed with rowdy Braves fans wearing
various forms of Atlanta Braves t shirts, hats and of course THE foam fingers. The
crowds are just as fun to watch as the actual game itself. They get into the game by
hollering and cheering for the Braves to win the game. There are many concession
stands that serve hot dogs, pizza, nachos, and cold drinks. It is fun to see all of the
players dressed in their uniforms, they all looked like they were excited to play.
The coaches were helping some of the players on the field and going over plays.
The coaches seemed more anxious to get the game started. The field itself was so
green and the dirt was so clean looking. The Braves games have been more
interesting over the past couple of years.

38. Compare and Contrast of the Classical School of
Management...
Compare and contrast of the classical school of management and the human relations
school of management
The classical or traditional approach to management was generally concerned with
the structure and the activities of formal organization. The utmost importance in the
achievement of an effective organization were seen to be the issues such as the
establishment of a hierarchy of authority, the division of work, and the span of control.
The classical management focuses on the efficiency and includes scientific,
bureaucratic and administrative management.
The scientific approach required several major principles in its application to
management: 1st develops a science for each operation to replace opinion and rule of
thumb. 2nd ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Offices are highly specialized. Appointments to these offices are made according to
specialized qualifications rather than ascribed criteria. All of these ideal
characteristics have one goal, to promote the efficient attainment of the organization s
goals.
Some have seriously misinterpreted Weber and have claimed that he liked bureaucracy
, that he believed that bureaucracy was an ideal organization. Others have
pronounced Weber wrong because bureaucracies do not live up to his list of ideals .
Others have even claimed that Weber invented bureaucratic organization. But Weber
described bureaucracy as an ideal type in order to more accurately describes their
growth in power and scope in the modern world. His studies of bureaucracy still form
the core of organizational sociology.
Weber s discussion of authority relations also provides insight into what is happening
in the modern world. Weber distinguished three main types of authority: Traditional
authority, Rational legal authority and Charismatic authority.
Administrative management is a style of management that focuses on principles to be
used by managers to co ordinate the internal activities of the total organization. This
theory was developed by Henri Fayol (1841 1925) to be taught to individuals with
administrative responsibilities, which lead to the five major functions of managerial
activities, planning, organizing, commanding,
39. Criminal Court Report On Juvenile Criminal Cases
Criminal Court Report Each year in Canada, over 400,000 adult criminal cases are
brought in front of a judge. That number may seem incredibly high, but considering
the amount of charges brought against individuals daily, it really is not all that high.
I had the opportunity to see a number of different adult criminal court proceedings,
from bail hearings to guilty pleas, but the one that I m going to analyze today is the
sentencing hearing of a young man who was charged with uttering threats, breach of
undertaking and two counts of breach of probation. The hearing which I witnessed
took place in the Ontario Court of Justice since the offences were processed
summarily, and the offences were not extremely serious. The Ontario Court of Justice
is a trialcourt as well as a court for pre trial hearings. It s the starting point for
almost all criminal cases, and usually the ending point as well. This court handles
all preliminary hearings, first appearances and bail hearings as well as trials and
sentencing hearings. In the hierarchy of courts, the Ontario Court of Justice is lowest
and usually the only court that most offenders will see. During the hearing I
witnessed, three different offences were being dealt with. The first and most serious
offence is in section 264.1 (1)(a) in the Criminal Code of Canada which is uttering
threats. The second offence that the offender was charged with was failure to comply
with conditions of undertaking, which is section 145 (5.1) of the
40. Summary Of The Souls Of Black Folk By W. E. B. Dubois
During the 20th century, colored people in America were seen as a problem.
However, there were civil rights activists like William Edward Burghardt Du Bois
who recognized the problem and advocated for reconstruction. In The Souls of Black
Folk, W.E.B. Du Bois analyzes African American history, culture, and social standing.
Unlike Booker T. Washington, Du Bois discussion of African American
culture like
the concept of double consciousness reflects his broader political and scholarly
agenda of promoting political rights and higher education to fight black
oppression. Du Bois begins by explaining how African Americans experience
double consciousness, which describes how one faces the challenge of having
more than one social identity, which in this case is being both African and
American in America. For example, Du Bois recalled that his first experience of
double consciousness occurred when he was just a kid and students at his school
were exchanging cards. He states, The exchange was merry, till one girl, a tall
newcomer, refused my card, refused it peremptorily, with a glance (2). This incident
shows how the white girl looked through the veil and only recognized Du Bois skin
color, and Du Bois in return only saw the negative side of white people. Du Bois

Since whites did not want to teach them, African Americans decided to educate
themselves and succeeded. For instance, Du Bois celebrates the fact that in a single
generation [the missionaries of 68] put thirty thousand black teachers in the South;
they wiped out the illiteracy if the majority of the black people of the land, and they
make Tuskegee possible (60). This quote implies that when given the opportunity to
do so, blacks can succeed educationally just as well as whites. Therefore, another
part of Du Bois scholarly agenda is to educate African

An individual s equitable right to their protection of privacy is fundamental as it
upholds respect, maintains appropriate social boundaries, and guarantees their
freedom of growth as an entity. The ability to affirm one s necessity of privacy is
imperative to the development of who they are, and how they form an identity that is
not dictated by the social conditions that directly or indirectly influence their
thinking, decisions, and behaviors. The abuse of personal privacy causes for a
disturbance of success as an independent human being. The recurring concern of

This plan is not only ludicrous but ill advised as well. After some enlightening
research, the price per stall is roughly $890. This puts the total cost of new and
advanced stalls at an arbitrary total of an estimated $22,250. Due to the fact that the
school s maximum price for renovations with this project is understandably $10,000,
for that reason and more, this solution simply fails miserably to succeed. Grapevine
Faith currently uses Latch and Keeper, Surface Mounted locks, and they sell at $24 a

of new stalls, comes new locks, and although tradition is usually a positive notion,
this schools needs locks that will sustain long term and provide the privacy that every
member of Grapevine Faith deserves. Replacing the stalls completely would consist
of the execution of the current stalls, the inconvenience of not having bathrooms
during the upgrade, the dollar amount that is not within the budget, and the idea of
absolutely unnecessary time and effort being put into this project that has an easier

43. J. Alfred Prufrock Morality
The meaning of existence, and the role society plays in it, is one of humanity s
more annoying itches. It is an itch that is ignored by most, accepted by some and
flailed at by a minute few. T.S Eliot, author of The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,
is among this few. The poem s narration takes shape in the unsettled thoughts of J.
Alfred Prufrock, who has become aware of a certain overwhelming question .
Prufrock refuses to further elaborate, but no other question has overwhelmed
humanity s conscience more than the meaning of life. Prufrock has become cognisant
of this immortal question, and it threatens to push him to the point of catastrophe. To
escape from its crushing weight, he embarks on a quest to answer it, attempting to
find something... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His journey consequently brings him to love, where he hopes to find meaning within
the seemingly immortal emotion. Yet Prufrock finds this last stronghold in
shambles, and he mournfully discerns the damage society has wrought upon love
in the quote: And I have known the arms already, known them all/ . The arms
represent women, broken down into the simplest physical representation. Prufrock
is the one describing them this way, but it is society that has created the idea.
Prufrock is quite connected to society ( And I have known the eyes already, known
them all ), and therefore society wields a strong influence over how he views the
world around him. In this case, society has devalued women to the point that
Prufrock can only describe them as arms. This shifts love from being a romantic,
almost spiritual concept to an entirely physical one, which detracts from its deeper
meaning and contributes to its superficiality. This assertion is also supported in
the following line: Arms that are braceleted and white and bare . It reads as a
checklist of entirely physical attributes, as if in order to qualify as a woman and
therefore worthy of Prufrock s love these traits must be met. This, too, detracts
from the deeper meaning of love. Lastly, Prufrock bemoans this increasingly
apparent superficiality in the quote Is it perfume from a dress/That makes me so
digress? . Prufrock questions whether or not what he perceives as love even exists,
or if it is merely a perfume that has been created by society, that some have learned
to wear and others not. Prufrock, now heartbroken as well as soulless, faces a
pressing question. Does he attempt to halt society in its superficial rampage across
the plains of the human spirit? Or does he resign himself to a life of empty
fulfillment, fully aware of his failure? This inner struggle is shown in this climactic
moment of the

The year is 1940 and the setting is the desperately poor, racially segregated town of
Stamps, Arkansas. In the soft dirt beneath the stilts of her grandmother s general
store, she does not want anyone to hear her as she attempts a few lines of poetry.
Maya Angelou has not spoken for five years since being raped at the age of seven,
but slowly, tentatively, she begins to make a sound.

46. Narrative Techniques in Dan Brown’s the Da Vinci
Code Essay
Dan Brown s The Da Vinci Code is one of the most successful and controversial
novels of our time. Other authors have jumped on the bandwagon writing novels on
Christian topics or treasure hunts or simply discussing The Da Vinci Code. Even
the film industry has profited by using Brown s strategies (and topics) in the
successful movie National Treasure and by taking advantage of the Grail publicity
in TV productions like The Blood of the (Knights) Templar. But which strategies
does Brown use to make the reader enjoy reading The Da Vinci Code? In my essay, I
would like to focus on his use of narrative techniques.

I ve never heard of it.
Sure you have. [ . . . ] You re just used to hearing it called by the name Holy Grail.
The reader is as surprised as Sophie Neveu is and wants to know how everything
fits together and reads on. In a way, this is also a key or turning point of the novel,
because from that moment the reader is told bit by bit about the Holy Grail. This
storytelling comes to a climax when Grail historian Leigh Teabing enters the scene,
claiming that the Holy Grail is a person, more exactly Mary Magdalene and her
descendants.
Dan Brown also uses stream of consciousness technique in order to enable the reader
to follow the protagonists trains of thought while breaking the codes. If Brown did
not use this technique, he would only present the result of the characters thoughts.
This would be boring for the reader, because he could not become involved in
solving the riddles himself.
The stream of consciousness technique includes flashbacks. These are important for
the development of the plot as well. On the one hand they help the reader to get to
know the characters; on the other hand they give hints regarding the decoding of
SauniГЁre s messages, since all flashbacks are connected to the Grail quest in one or
the other way.

47. The Effect Of Surprise Recall On Memory Essay
Analyzing the Effect of Surprise Recall and Expected Recall on Memory
Whether or not we acknowledge it, memory is one of the most important processes
that our brain preforms every day. Everything we do sensory or procedural is
recorded in some way into our memories, some memories only last a brief amount
of time while others may last a life time depending on the amount of rehearsal and
encoding. Though this is by far not a perfect system, we create schemas in our brains
(or short cuts) to aid in memory; yet sometimes due to these schemas we actually
not remember something properly creating a false memory (Olszewska
Ulatowska, 2013). This due to an error in the person s episodic memory, this is the
type of memory that is person specific for remembering events; word pairs or
particular words seen in a list (Cabeza et al., 1997). Finding put such a
phenomenon has led to many to study how memory works, and ways too mesure
what memory actually is. We can test this episodic memory using recall tests in
which participants try to write the remembered word. Another test would be a
recognition test in which studied items, such as a word list, are mixed with new
words. The participants have to decide yes or no that the item was previously seen
before (yes) or novel (no) (Cabeza et al., 1997).
There have been studies in the past conducted to find where exactly in the brain
memory may reside, using positron emission tomography (PET) scans to see where
the most blood flows into the
48. The Importance Of The British Empire
The British Empire left a significant mark on the world and it was the Empire with
an immense power who governed lots of countries. However, the country which
was vastly different from others and had a great influence on Britain was India.
India, the most precious pearl in the ocean called the British Empire, was the
driving force of growth and development of Britain. Two core reasons of why India
was so valuable to Britain are India s location and population. India was vitally
important to the Empire as it had a strategic position. Being set in a very
convenient place India was geographically beneficial for the British because it
gave a core location for Britain to rule the Empire. In India, Britain could control
its Empire to the west, but could also look at Southeast Asia through Afghanistan
and push it to China. To the west, it was possible to control the Middle East. For
the Empire, India was like a balcony which allowed to look at people from the top
and control them. The population was the other reason for Indian significance.
Over 300 million people lived in India and this huge population was an incredibly
profitable for British industry. In the 1880s, for example, about 20% of Britain s
total exports went to India. By 1910 these exports were worth ВЈ137 million.
Additionally, Britain used Indians for labor because they were easily available,
cheap and fast adaptable. Laborers willingly agreed to work and be treated as
slaves because they simply did not want to die from starvation and poverty.
However, there was a demand rising day after day for laborers because of the
abolition of slavery in 1834. This act caused a radical decrease of laborers. For
example, most workers in Sugar Plantations were Africans, but they left. Thus, a
huge number of people were needed. Consequently, Indians worked there and not
only. Britain also needed India s vast population for manpower. Whilst Britain s
own army was poor and the population was small, they were looking for a way to
boost their military strengths. As an example, Bismarck once said: If the British
Army landed in Europe, I would get the Belgian police to arrest them Otto Von
Bismarck, 1917.
49. Kyoto Protocol And Global Warming
In December 1997, Kyoto protocol was signed to address global warming
specifically. Global warming is the gradual increase in the average temperature of
the Earth s atmosphere and its oceans due to green house gases emissions. (NRDC,
2005) In the past 100 years, the rate of global warming is unprecedented. In fact,
global warminghas become one of the most challenging environmental problems in
the 21st century. In order to effectively address this issue, international cooperation is
necessary. Through international cooperation, undeveloped countries are able to
overcome financial obstacles in meeting their targets. In addition, it could also
promote worldwide technology sharing, data foundations and public awareness of
climate change.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For starters, modern economy relies heavily on fossil fuels, which is a main
resource that contributes to global warming. Adopting renewable energy might
sharply reduce GHG emissions. However, according to international energy
agency, switching from fossil fuels to low carbon sources of energy will cost $44
trillion between now and 2050 (IEA, 2009). In case 44 trillion is too abstract, 1
trillion dollar can fill up an entire soccer field and stack more than 10 feet high.
This cost could be intimidating for any country. Moreover, the cost also depends on
how long it takes for us to start reducing emissions. The IPCC report showed that
continuing to hold off on reducing emissions could increase costs by 40 percent
(IPCC, 2008) For developing countries, this cost would be a financial burden and a
limiting reagent on GDP growth. Socially, civilian s life quality will be affected by
the GDP reduction. As a result, it becomes more challenging for countries to take
initiative in addressing this problem. The question eventually came down to whom
should bear the astronomical cost? Are we willing to invest in something that might
cost more than its benefits?
Evaluation on its Successfulness
The achievements of Kyoto Protocol have been controversial. Nevertheless, the
agreement has had a mix of success. In order to evaluate its successfulness, we need
data of the emission level of Annex I parties from 1990 to 2012 explicitly. As a
result, the United States did not ratify the
50. What Does Redeemer Mean In The Bible
What does redeemer mean in the Bible? This is one of the most important question
that needs to be answered. The Bible focuses mainly on redeemer and His
redemption for us. Redeemer definition means a person who redeems someone or
something . Jesus Christ redeems us from our sins by offering Himself. Whenever
we come across the word Redeemer as a Christian, we think of the sacrifice of the
Lord Jesus Christ. Father has to give up His only begotten son and Jesus had to shed
His precious blood to make redemption. It was not quite an easy task for both the
Father and Son. Father has to offer His only loving Son for the cause of the sins of
human beings. Heavenly Father was option less other than to offer up His son as a
living sacrifice. Creation
51. Middle Ages vs. the Renaissance Essay
There are many contrasts in the beliefs and values of the Renaissance and the
Middle Ages. The Middle Ages was a time of great suffering, including famine and
widespread disease. The Renaissance, however, was a revival of art, learning, and
literature. Their views of the purpose of life in the present world and man s place in
the world was, perhaps, the greatest contrast. However, their views on politics,
religion, and education were very different as well.
The purpose of life and man s place in the world was viewed differently during the
Middle Ages and the Renaissance. During the Middle Ages, also known as The Age
of Faith, man s purpose was to serve God. Life was looked upon as a journey. The
focus of life was on the afterlife ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, Republicanism was considered to be the best form of government
during the Renaissance because the individual could realize his fullest potential by
serving the state. According to Leonardo Bruni, the rule of one person was harmful to
the common good. Thus, the republican government was considered to be stronger
than the monarchy.
Religion was also viewed differently. The Catholic Church was the one universal
church during the Middle Ages. People believed that only church officials could
interpret the scriptures. People also believed in the absolute authority of the church.
During the Renaissance, the Protestant Reformation led to the development of many
churches. People believed that each individual could interpret the Bible for himself.
The church no longer had absolute authority as it did during the Middle Ages.
Education was approached differently as well. During the Middle Ages, the focus
of education was on studying the Bible and debating spiritual questions. Since the
common people were not allowed to read the Bible, they were told what to think.
The purpose of education in the Middle Ages was to pass the Moral Test and be
rewarded with eternal joy in the afterlife. However, during the Renaissance, the focus
of education was on learning from past history and experience and observations of
the present world. There was a scientific and rationalistic attitude toward viewing
