Essay My Self
Writing an essay about oneself, often referred to as "Essay My Self," can be a challenging task.
The difficulty lies in the delicate balance one must strike between self-expression and humility,
introspection and objectivity. The challenge is not merely stringing together a series of personal
anecdotes or achievements but crafting a narrative that is genuine, engaging, and reflective.
The process of delving into one's own experiences, beliefs, and aspirations requires a deep level
of self-awareness. Choosing which aspects of one's life to highlight and which to omit is a
delicate decision, as it shapes the reader's perception. Striking the right tone is equally
crucial—neither sounding boastful nor overly modest. It's a constant battle between portraying
oneself authentically and adhering to the societal expectations of modesty.
Moreover, the introspective nature of such an essay can be emotionally taxing. Confronting
personal challenges, successes, and growth may evoke strong emotions. Maintaining a balance
between vulnerability and professionalism is a tightrope walk, as oversharing can be detrimental
while too much reserve might make the essay impersonal.
Another aspect of the challenge is to avoid clichГ©s and generic statements. It's easy to fall into
the trap of using common phrases or overused expressions, diluting the uniqueness of one's
individuality. Crafting a narrative that stands out amidst a sea of similar stories requires creativity
and a keen understanding of one's own experiences.
In addition, the essay must be coherent and well-structured. Jumping between different aspects
of one's life without a clear thread can confuse the reader and dilute the impact of the essay.
Striving for a balance between a chronological account and thematic coherence adds an
additional layer of complexity.
While the difficulty may seem daunting, the reward lies in the opportunity for self-reflection and
growth. Writing an essay on oneself is not only a literary exercise but a journey of self-discovery.
It challenges the writer to articulate thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that resonates
with others.
In conclusion, crafting an essay about oneself is no simple task. It demands a delicate dance
between authenticity and modesty, introspection and objectivity. The emotional toll, coupled
with the need for creativity and structure, makes it a formidable challenge. Yet, it is through this
challenge that individuals can not only showcase their unique identities but also embark on a
profound journey of self-discovery.
For those seeking assistance in such endeavors, it's worth exploring various resources. Similar

French Indian War Relationship
After the French Indian War the relationship between England and the colonies of
North America made a gradual change from allies to adversaries. This relationship
change can be attributed to consequences of the French and Indian War, the various
intellectual and religious movements taking place, and the their differences in
attitudes towards authority.
The consequences of the French and Indian War began to weigh heavily on both
parties. The first issue faced was how to manage and assimilate the territories gained
from France. Parliament declared the Proclamation Line in 1763, which forbade all
settlement past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains. This line was not well
received by all colonists. Our nations first president, George ... Show more content on

One of these movements was Anglicization. This movement brought on a consumer
revolution, gentrification, spread of print media, and an admiration for all things
English. This movement started to blur the lines of social classes. The consumer
revolution made luxury items more accessible to commoners. An explosion of print
media allowed information to be better distributed among more people in a shorter
amount of time. What had previously been reserved for the wealthy was now
available for the middle class.
The Enlightenment was another of these movements; this brought forth ideas like
rationalization, pragmatism, and moderation. The movement helped lay the base for
a separation of church and state. Many of the nation s most influential founders found
inspiration from the enlightenment.
Another of these movements was the Great Awakening. Religion became revived and
itinerant preaches became popular. The Great Awaking in the American colonies led
to changes in religious understanding. Just like Anglicization, the Great Awakening
also challenged the class system. Religion became more prevalent among women,
African Americans and Indians, and the poor. Some slave owners for the first time
were teaching their slaves to read so they could study the bible. Just like luxury items
and access to literature, religion was no longer

The Use of Birds in Chronical of a Death Foretold by...
In the novel, Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, birds are
used as motifs intentionally in the imagery of scenes to convey sentiments, ideas and
messages to the reader. Some of the roles taken by the symbolism of birds include
indicating signs of the future and afterlife, supporting character portrayal and
development throughout the text. The symbolism of birds is discussed in the essay
because the recurring images of birds have a pertinent significance to the novella.
In literature, birds are commonly viewed as signs of freedom while in flight, yet
while they are entrapped in cages, they symbolize the struggle for freedom. Gabriel
Garcia s usage of birds has both common and uncommon roles in the novel. The birds

Santiago seemed happy with his father until the latter died suddenly, three years
before, (Marquez 7). In this sense, the dream about floating through a grove of
timber trees where a gentle drizzle was falling, [...] but [...] he awoke [...] spattered
with bird shit, (Marquez 3) ties into Santiago s life. The birds hold significance in
this passage in the metaphor comparing bird shit to life ruining events. The reader
learns more about Santiago when the narrator reveals that Nasar gained the good
arts of valor and prudence (7) from his father and is a merry, peaceful, and
openhearted (8) individual. Furthermore, Santiago is an aggressive wealthy
individual that is compared to a sparrow hawk [...] just like his father, nipping the
bud of any wayward virgin who began showing up in those woods, (90). In the text,
falcons are associated with entertainment and displaying one s status of wealth, and
the opening quote by Gil Vicente, the pursuit of love is like falconry (1) compares the
persistent nature of pursuing love to the recreational activity of hunting with falcons.
Subsequently, the reader becomes aware of Santiago s innocence and naivety. Nahir
Miguel reveals to the narrator that Santiago looked like a little wet bird, (114).
Because Marquez specifically chose a bird as the animal for this image, the birds

Reflection On Crime And Crime
Over the semester, our class has focused on race, ethnicity, and crime and how it
has played a role in why certain individuals are targeted, labeled, and victimized. I
want to focus on how the police play a role in this matter and connect it to
adolescents getting targeted, labeled and victimized because this is a problem
especially in schools. The police and schools use different mentalities when dealing
with certain situations, this can create these individuals to believe that there is a
separation between the two groups. With certain races, crimes are more likely to be
blamed on them, which creates labeling to occur and making the punishment more
problematic for the future. These youths are carrying around a criminal record at

Kalief and many other accused black males have lost their childhood behind bars.
Kalief was innocent and what he gained from being locked up was a mental

was a victim of losing his childhood, by awaiting trial in prison. Now, look at how
the school systems play a role in how they target their victims. School institutions
target the children that act out and misbehavior. Those children tend to be children
that are African American and disabled youths. These school systems are labeling
them as bad , disruptive , and troublesome . When someone becomes labeled, that
individual will start believing the words that are said about them. This is called a
self fulling prophecy . When youths begin to act out they are then taken out of
school, leading them to fall behind in academic classes. Carla Amurao wrote in the
article, How Bad Is the School to Prison Pipeline that those who are unnecessarily
forced out of school become stigmatized and fall behind in their studies; many
eventually decide to drop out of school altogether, and many others commit crimes in
their communities , (para. 2). It seems as though these school institutions are steering
these children on a path to failure. These children are the victim of
Combatting Unrealistic Body Image
Sports Illustrated, Victoria s Secret, Vogue. What do these titles have in common?
They are all brands that are prevalent in the media, all brands that feature the same
underweight, unrealistic figures, with models void of stretch marks or body fat. In
today s technological society, the influence of the media is irrefutable; however, it
has become increasingly evident that on the issue of body image, the media has failed
its audience. Rather than portraying the average population, media such as television
and magazines have become accustomed to casting actors and actresses who have
similar, ideal body types, and photoshopping models beyond the point of recognition.
By perpetuating these unhealthy, unrealistic images, the media is, perhaps

In recent years, the media, particularly magazines and television, has become
accustomed to displaying homogenous body types that only represent 5% of the
average population (Rukeyser). Fortunately, some institutions are making strides
in its body image diversity. For example, Dove launched its Campaign for Real
Beauty in 2004. This campaign featured print and television ads that reflect images
of women of varying, and more typical, sizes and shapes ( Body ). More recently,
in January of this year, Sports Illustrated attempted to increase its diversity by
featuring a plus size model on the cover of its swimsuit issue ( Body ). The actions
of these companies are certainly helping to combat the issue of unrealistic body
image, as they have a large influence in the media. If more media institutions follow
suit, there is a greater chance that society will soon move towards more diverse body
representation as a

The Impact Of Social Stratification On Minorities
The impact on minorities due to inequality
Introduction
During the course of
this class I have learned about social problems within the society in which we live and
around the world. It is disturbing to learn that poverty, social inequality, race and
cultural discrimination, gender stratification, environmental damage, population
growth, and urbanization are among the social problems and controversial issues that
still exist in the United States.
What is Social Stratification
Social stratification is defined as a system by which society ranks categories of
people in a hierarchy. For example, There are fundamental principles of
stratification: slavery, caste, and class. The class system which is characterized by its
social mobility social stratification is a characteristic of society not because of
individual differences, but because social stratification persists over generations.
Each of these groups is stratified into its own class; the group of people ranked
most closely to them in property, power, and prestige. A person s position in the
stratification system affects everything about their life, from what they think and
expect in life to how they see the world, as well as what opportunities they will have
access to. Although, your status is still assigned at birth, but you have the chance at
upward social mobility based on material possessions that you acquire, or things that
you achieve. Or you may be on the other end of the spectrum and experience

Summary: The scene is laid in a mental hospital. The narrator is an old Indian, called
Chief Bromden, he plays deaf and dumb and he doesn t really take part in the action.
The story starts when Randle Patrick McMurphy is admitted to the hospital.
McMurphy is no ordinary patient, he s actually a bit too sane to be in a mental
hospital. But that doesn t matter to the staff and especially Nurse Ratched, who
thinks everyone in the ward should bow to her command. McMurphy is a stubborn

His opinion won t go unheard.
Miss Ratched: Nurse Ratched, also called the Big Nurse, is a very dominant person.
She is very bossy and if she doesn t have total control, she will act out very agressive.
Chief Bromden: The Chief is a tall Indian man.He plays dumb and deaf, but actually
understands everything he wants to. He isolates himselve a lot, but McMurphy
manages to get him back into our world .
The rest of the patients on the ward: The can mostly all be described as feeble
minded. The can t stand up for themselves and try to avoid confrontations.
Background to the story: The story was written in the beginning of the sixties, in the
USA. It reflects the feeling of the youth at the time. They felt misunderstood by the
adults and tried to change the system. The rebelled against authority of all forms.
They wanted to think for themselves, instead of being directed towards the
conformistic society. McMurphy s battle stands as an example for the struggle against
a dogmatic form of authority.
Personal opinion: I liked the book for it s cynical viewpoint on the mentally
challenged. But I don t like the way it is narrated. It is very vague, offcourse it is
told by a loon, but I would have liked it better if it were more clear. And I don t like
McMurphy, as he s just too much an American stereotype...

Clean Room Vs Messy Room
All of our lives, we ve been told to stay organized. Organization has always been
linked to success and less stress. Whether at home or at school organization is
something that has been taught to almost everyone since we were born. So which
is better? A clean room or a messy room. Some would say that a clean room is better
than a messy room. I disagree with that statement. While a clean room does have it s
advantages a messy room helps you flourish in mindand soul. Sure, the state of your
room may represent how your mind works but disorderliness isn t always bad.
There are 2 types of messy: cluttered or just dirty. While clutter shows personality
and possibly creativity, a dirty room is very negative and is not helpful in any way.
Disorderly roomslooks bad to the people who don t own them but the people who
made it that way feel at home when in their room. Consider this from Albert Einstein,
If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, then what are we to think of an
empty desk? He looked unkempt and was reportedly messy in his personal life, but
was certainly a creative genius. Einstein wasn t alone. Mark Twain, too, had a
cluttered desk. Perhaps even more cluttered than that of Albert Einstein. Mark Twain
was one of the most imaginative minds of his generation. One university got a bunch
of students to sleep in specific rooms half messy and half clean. After a few days in
the dorms the research conductors asked the students to give ideas on how to

How Did Freemason Influence The French Revolution
When Napoleon took the throne in France, he employed Freemasonry as a
propaganda tool. He utilized it to spread Revolutionary principles, favoring the
installation of numerous lodges in France and outside the country and incorporated
plenty of Freemasons as leaders of his regimen. The men would seem as capable
candidates for the government since they were enemies of intolerance, superstition,
and ignorance. Freemasonrywas associated with equality, rationality and the
sovereignty of the people. The invasion of Spain by the French increased the fear
amongst the Spanish and Catholics towards Freemasonry. An Anti masonic
atmosphere became widespread throughout the Iberian Peninsula and later the
Americas. The literature from this ambiance emulated... Show more content on

One possibility for the divide was in an English disagreement about rituals.
Freemasonry s transformation began in the 1750s, after the American Revolution.
Renown Freemason Benjamin Franklin was a Modern that brought together many of
the colonies most prominent men that championed their gentility, cultivation, and
high social standing. Meanwhile, the Ancients included men who lacked political
power and social distinction. However, the new Ancient lodges proved to be a
more attractive (Bullock, 85). What stood out in the reading was that the Grand
Lodge lead by Benjamin Franklin no longer existed. Also, its previous members
could not set foot in a lodge room until a ceremony of healing converted them from
an unacceptable Modern Mason into an Ancient brother. By opening Masonry to
social groups outside the strata of elites located along principal seaports and by
preserving the idea of fraternity, made Ancient Masons appealing (Bullock, 86).
Interestingly, Freemasonry flaws in the 1740s allowed some Irish to establish their
London Lodges without the original grand lodge s approval. They became known as
the Ancients who were also termed the Irish Faction. The Revolution further damaged
the Moderns and by 1800, nearly all American lodges identified themselves as
Ancient (Bullock, 90). The majority of Ancients were seagoing men (sea captains and
pilot) 36.7%. The
Plastic Pollution Essay
The Hawaiian Archipelago, for example, is among the longest and most remote
island chains in the world. The 19 islands of the archipelago, including Midway
atolls, receive massive quantities of plastic debris, shot out from the Pacific gyres
(Smith, 2011). Some beaches are buried under 5 to 10 feet of plastic, while other
beaches are riddled with plastic sand . One of the reasons marine debrisaccumulates in
these islands is the movement of debris within the North Pacific Subtropical
Convergence Zone (STCZ) (Steiner and Helgesen, 2016).
Images of wounded and tangled marine wildlife have engulfed the media for many
years and attempts are being made around the world to curb the increasing levels of
macro plastic pollution (large, visible pieces of plastic debris). Marine plastic
pollution has a global impact on marine wildlife, habitat and human health and
economy in various ways. The most publicized of which is through entanglement and
ingestion (refer to graph 1 in appendices) (Allsopp et al., n.d.). However, once the
human made polymers are ingested, they can lead to physical blockages, gut
impaction and perforation, choking, the transfer of toxic compounds, reduced food
intake that leads to malnutrition and eventually starvation (Plastic Waste: Ecological
and Human Health Impacts, 2011). While macro plastic debris, such as fishing lines
and plastic bags, is the main contributor to entanglement, both micro and macro
debris are ingested across a wide range of marine

as the ending of the first opium war between China and Britain but what most
people tend to miss is the women s rights movement that went on in 1848 until the
2000 s.Women were being mistreated and were basically said to only be good for

In 1848 a group of abolitionist activists met in Seneca Falls, New York to discuss
the problem of women s rights. They met with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and
Lucretia Mott and decided that it was about time that women started getting their
own chance at a lifestyle of their own choice. During the 1850 s women right talk
was died down by the civil way but right after it ended and the 14th and 15
amendments came into play new question arose. They refused to support the 15th
Amendment and joined forces with racist Southerners who argued that white
women s votes could be used to balance out those votes cast by African Americans.
In 1869, a group called the National Woman Suffrage Association was formed and
began to fight for a universal suffrage amendment to the federal Constitution. Some
women went as far as starving themselves to prove that we need to be equal to men
in every aspect. But in 1890 we said forget being treated as equals! we just want the
right to vote because, we have different opinions and viewpoints than men and we
should be able to voice them. A few advocates wanted women to have the right to
vote because, they thought it would help spread their cause and it would over throw
the blacks who, were quickly rising economically as well as the environmentally and
return the white supremacy that they had when blacks were frowned upon and
treated like property .Us women piggy backed off of that to help make others notice

Andrew Hare and Dr. Nakia Verner. The group performed the following songs,
Donna Lee composed by Charlie Parker, Wave composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim,
Misty composed by Erroll Garner, Another Song(For All The Pretty People) and
Impressions composed by John Coltrane. In my essay I will discuss Impressions
composed by John Coltrane.
Jazz is a type of music the African Americans began and is best known for the
mighty mood and beat. The primary instruments connected with this type of music
are brass and woodwind instruments, for example, the violono and the saxophone.
The percussion instruments, the piano and the drums, were utilized by Gene D
Andrea and Andrew Hare. The string instrument, violono was played by Shaun Jurek.
Singing was performed by Dr. Nakia Verner. Impressions was created by John
Coltrane in 1961, during the modern era of music originating in the 20th Century till
present day. The aspects of this music style incorporates tone color, variations of the
traditional tonal system, melody, harmony and rhythm.
Impressions was the last track composed by Coltrane before he was announced
deceased on July 17, 1967. Impressions was considered as a counter creation to the
creation The Love Supreme. Coltrane utilization of stirring lyric preludes, rhythmic

Military Industrial Complex Essay
Position on Military Industrial Complex Catalina M. Young Archbishop Edward A.
McCarthy Abstract The Military Industrial Complex is a term coined by former
President Dwight D. Eisenhower. This refers to the relationship between the nation s
armed forces and the industries that support them. Though its name came about in the
1960s, this relationship between armed forces and private industry dates back
centuries. Recent legislation has been passed to help limit the power that this
relationship has over defense spending. For any country, military spending is a big
part of the national budget. Over time this business transaction has formed into a
relationship between the nation s armed forces and these private defense industries....

At that point in time, arms were still being manufactured and shipped over from
Britain. Hamilton not only saw this as a more economical way to obtain arms, but
also as a way to cut ties with foreign arms producers, which he thought was key to
national security. This seemingly small proposal at the time, lead to the eventual
production of arms on American soil. From this point onward the country s defense
and economy were intertwined. As the need for more weapons grew, the process of
making them transformed from a single person hand crafting a gun, to an assembly
line of people each trained to build a separate part of a gun. In 1808 a policy for
arming the United States militia called for more guns to be made. This act supplied
the militia with $200,000 in arms and military equipment annually.(Encyclopedia of
the New American Nation, 2013) Pretty soon thereafter national arms systems were
set upon the national armories. A network of reliable arms manufacturers emerged.
Contracts were drawn up between these armories and private manufacturers, who
were more likely to test new means and materials to improve guns. This was key to an
ideal system of arms production. This was the beginning of the military industrial
complex. It was here that the desire for an innovative military arms snowballed into
the high tech industry that it is today. In the councils of government, we must guard

for example, the development of personality of colonized individuals, giving careful

a scaffold amongst eco criticism and post colonialism and utilized as another logical

The History Of Immunostaining Methods
The history of immunostaining methods began when Marrack produced reagents
against typhus and cholera microorganisms, using a red stain conjugated to benzidin
tetraedro (1) However, Professor Albert H. Coons from Harvard School of Medicine
first introduces immunofluorescence. Coons initial attempts to label antibodies were
unsuccessful as the labels were not visible enough under the microscope. In the early
nineteen forties Coons, Creech, Jones and Berliner succeeded in tagging antibodies
(2). These antibodies were used to detect foreign antigens in tissues. This involved
using a single fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) labeled anti pneumococcal antibody
to find pneumococcal antigens in mice injected with large numbers of pneumococci
(1).
In 1959 Singer used an electron dense protein in order to achieve ultrastructural
localisation. The protein ferritin was used to tag an antibody because fluorescein
lacks electron opacity. Electron microscopy could be used in immunohistochemistry
as a result of this as the presence of iron in the protein makes it electron dense (1). In
1965 Sternberger used uranium to develop the first electron opaque heavy metal
technique for ultrastructural localisation (3). Owing to the large molecular size of
ferritin, ferritin labeled antibody penetrates tissues poorly also heavy metal labeled
antibody has provided insufficient increase in contrast at the sites of antigen antibody
reactions to be useful. Subsequently, the introduction of enzymes as

Robotics makes humans life easier and sometimes even save lives. But it can also
cause harm to society because of malfunctioning. As explained the way technology
has advanced so have robots this changes the definition of post human. The definition
of post human could not been redefined without these advancements. Ava and Radius
are examples of how technology has an influence on them however due to certain
consequence s they cause destruction. This brings up the discussion should artificial
intelligence be given to robots? This is also demonstrated in West World, which has
similar ideologies to both the film and text. In West World robots are engineered to
appear identical to humans, artificial intelligence is also given to them. Certain
characters slowly begin to realize the truth about their world and start to rebel against
the humans. Which is exactly what happens in (R.U.R) and Ex Machina, the way that
they are created and how they communicate with humans is essential. Both characters
acquire artificial consciences about the situation they are in, and the result of that is
Ava and Radius causing destruction that humanity
Mind Wandering
To fully comprehend the extent of the effect mind wandering can have on an
individual and their education we must understand how learning in a classroom based
environment tends to work. Many educational tools that are used involve discourse
comprehension. Discourse comprehension is explained as an ongoing process where
the individual receives stimuli from an external environment, which is then encoded
and translated into terms that can be understood and consistent with their internal
depictions (Smallwood, Fisherman Schooler, 2007). The most obvious explanation
for mind wanderings negative impact on learningis that it represents a block or
breakdown of the normal coupling or comprehension process between the external
stimuli to the internal representations (Smallwood Schooler, 2006). Discourse
comprehension, or processing, is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The consequences linked with moderate engagement were that participants showed
superficial encoding, that their answers coincided with their own autobiographical
memories. The deepest levels of engagement with external stimuli involves
individuals to read, retain information and then give a narrative of events occurring
beyond the time of the current external input. Mind wandering during this setting,
such as reading, occurs less than during signal detection, about 20 40% of the time
(Schooler et al., 2005). Mind wandering is believed to deny individuals the ability to
encode information correctly meaning that the consequences associated with mind
wandering during the deepest level of engagement are that we produce an impaired
building of the initial model given, we cannot reproduce an accurate narrative of the
events. Mind wandering is prevalent across all levels but more frequent when less
attention is required. Similarly mind wandering negatively impacts recall across all
levels, having a slightly different effect depending of the level of engagement but
having the worst impact on tasks requiring a deeper level of

Clinical Reasoning and Judgement in The Nursing Process
Critical thinking and clinical reasoning are essential skills to develop a sound
clinical judgement. Nurses use critical thinking models and processes to support
and organize the interventions that they perform in the clinical setting. In the
scenario of Mr. Patient requesting for a Do Not Resuscitate order, I used the
nursing process to serve as the framework of the patient care and the Lasater s
Clinical Judgment Rubric by Kathie Lasater (2007) to guide my reflection. In this
paper, I will describe the skills that were used in relation to the nursing process,
provide analysis of the model and application of learning in terms of CNO
competencies, and evaluate my clinical decision making in terms of patient
outcomes. While, the nursing process, served as a guide to organize my thought
process in relation to the overall picture of the patient, I also incorporated thinking
structures such as ABC and Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs to determine the
prioritization in each activity. Furthermore, I utilized the Structured Prebriefing
Worksheet by Karin Page Cutrara (2015) to make inferences from the data before
engaging in the scenario.
Clinical Reasoning Skills in Scenario
The main clinical issue in the scenario is the need of a Do Not Resuscitate order by
the client. In the pre briefing process, I predicted that the patient needs medication
to reduce his chronic pain related to his previous medical history of prostate
cancer and transurethral resection of prostate. Using the nursing process, I am
able to systematically assess and deliver appropriate interventions to the patient. I
prioritize his chronic pain over his feelings, based on the Maslow s Hierarchy of
Needs. As I complete his physical assessment, I noticed that his pain level is the
only variable that is out of the normal limits. I examined his pain in detail using the
PQRST pain assessment tool. I tried to look for more gaps in my assessment when I
inquire about his feelings in which I learned that patient would like to have a DNR
order.
In the planning phase, the health care team had a discussion about prioritization. On
one hand, the patient s pain level is eight out of ten that needed

A Research Study On The Stress Hormone And Cortisol
Levels
Well conducted research is essential to the advancement of knowledge. Through poor
research design, incorrect statistical analysis or inappropriate conclusions,
experimenters can conduct virtually useless studies, or worse, call into question the
integrity of researchers. However, analysis of poorly conducted research is essential
to the improvement of the scientific method. Presented shall firstly be a literature
review regarding a growing contemporary body of literature, premised on the
association between stressors, management strategies and cortisollevels. Additionally,
a replication study examining powerful poses and cortisol levels shall be analysed
and critically and constructively evaluated.
Cortisol commonly known as the stress hormone is a steroid hormone regulated by
the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis, an interaction of endocrine glands thought to
be crucial in adapting to behavioural and environmental changes. Cortisol effects
many functions within the body, including control of blood sugar levels, regulating
the metabolism, reducing inflammation and assisting in immune responses (Randall,
2010; Shu Fen et al. 2015). The main function of cortisol is to restore homeostasis to
the body following stress, and it is the primary hormone responsible for the stress
response. Fluctuation of cortisol levels throughout the day is normal for humans,
however, sustained high levels of cortisol can have adverse effects. These can include
serious health implications
The Importance Of Sense Of Belonging In Human
Development
There is a various of research and theories that discuss the importance of a sense of
belonging in human development. An individual s sense of belonging relates to
feelings of acceptance and being valued in a space (Goodenow, 1993). Baumeister
Leary (1995) states that the belongingness hypothesis is one that predicts that humans
have intrinsic motivation to cultivate meaningful, long lasting relationships with
frequent interactions. People need the feeling of encouragement and a sense of
belonging with other individuals, making community belonging and attachments an
essential key to positive human psychological and physical health. An individual s
feeling of belonging and acceptance is especially important for latino adolescents.
According to Maurizi, Ceballo, Epstein Ngo, Cortina (2013), when latino adolescents
have a greater sense of neighborhood belonging, they tend to have lesser levels of
depression and anxiety. There are several things that may impact adolescents sense of
community, including community violence exposure, their fear of crime, and
community based activities that they participate in. Youth s exposure to community
violence is prevalent. Community violence exposure is how frequent adolescents
witness or are the victims of violent events in their community (Ceballo, Dahl,
Aretakis Ramirez, 2001). In Finkelhor, Turner, Ormrod, Hamby (2009) survey, 60%
of the responding youth stated that they were a witness or victimto community
violence at least

Solar Declares, Sunspots And Radiation
Solar flares, sunspots, and radiation are all things that are on the Sun and are
important parts of the weather on the Sun. Solar flares are short outbursts of energy
on the sun. Sunspots are dark spots in the sun from the contrast of its surroundings.
Radiation from the sun is also known as sunlight. Radiation is a mixture of
electromagnetic waves that range from infrared to ultraviolet rays. Solar flares are
caused by a sudden release of energythat has been stored in twisted magnetic fields.
The energy of a solar flare is equal to ten million volcanic eruptions, and can last
anywhere between a couple minutes to hours on end. Solar flares happen in sunspots
where the magnetic fields are strong and active. Solar flares release an incredible
amount of energy. It takes energy from the sunabout eight minutes to reach Earth.
Solar radiation is the electromagnetic radiation and particles emitted by the sun. The

called the penumbra. A pore is a smaller sunspot that has no penumbra. Pores may
only be several hundred miles and last only for a few hours. The sunspot cycle is
the number of sunspots and solar latitudes at which they appear and vary over a
period of 11 years. During the beginning of a cycle sunspots are between 20 degrees
and 40 degrees north and south of the sun s equator. Later on in the cycle the spots
increase in number and get closer to the solar equator. Sunspot s magnetic fields have
a strength 3,000 times greater than an average magnetic field of either the Sun or

Transitions In High School
Transitions always happen in everyone s life, maybe it s a happy event or a wrong

difficult for many people, it s needed for everyone to develop and become a better

situations that I will never forget such as my bicycletraining , my first meet with

I was, in the past, an introverted kid. To put it another way, I wasn t good at

always flashes in my head. A 5 years old kid, asking his mom what was she doing

that moment, he built up his curiosity about the strange thing called the computer ,
What is a computer? What is use for? Can I eat it? , he asked too much, up to the
point his mom was annoyed everyday and one day she had to spend a whole day
trying to explain him. Instantly, he felt his life is meant for this machine. Back
when I was young, I only know some use of my mom s computer such as reading
news, playing simple games and watch videos. Though my mom did not want me to

article will seek to convey and articulate if climate change has affected the rise of
ocean levels, and if so what are the detrimental affects on coastal communities. This
article will also reveal what specific regions and events that are happening that are
elevating ocean level rise. The objective of this research article is to inform people
about the plight that humanity has found itself in and how to prevent ecological
damage and along with that prepare for the coming tide.
Literature Review
Climate Change Due to the immense anthropogenic release of green house carbon
emissions into the atmosphere, there has been and will be major detrimental
effects on human resources and the ecosystem. For example, by the middle of the
21stcentury, River runoff will increase by 40% in northern latitudes and also in a
few tropical areas, while in dry regions it will decrease by 30%. Some of these
tropical areas have already reported and are experiencing water droughts that will
only get worse (Gillman 2008). In addition, if temperatures continue to increase to
1.8 5.4 degrees, food productivity and resources will be affected. When the
temperatures reach the lower latitudes of what is predicted, there will be a slight
increase in food productivity for a little while. However, when the temperatures reach
the higher end of the latitudes, food productivity will

Access to General Higher Education in Haryana: An Inter district Analysis
INTRODUCTION:
Higher Education occupies a centre stage in this era of knowledge; it acts as a
catalyst in promoting the acquisition of new knowledge and higher skills for
development of physical and human resources and for building an environment of
creative thinking and growth of individuality. There is general consensus that higher
education is one of the vital factors of national development, an important social
resource and means of reducing inequalities in the societies. Keeping in view the
important role of higher education in transforming the society into a more
enlightened, prosperous and civilized community, the Indian Governments (Central
State level both) and various Commissions Committees paid special attention towards
the growth and spread of higher education facilities in the country.
Though, Indian higher education system has grown tremendously both in terms of
size and diversity, yet there exist large disparities in the spread of higher educational
facilities across States/regions in India. Some States are educationally advanced
while others are relatively backward. Even within each State, some regions have
better educational facilities while others lag behind. The apex body i.e. University
Grants Commission identified 374 Educationally Backward Districts of India in 2009
with an aim to address the problem during the tenure of the Eleventh Five Year Plan.

Asteroid Belt Essay
The paper is an overview of dawn mission that is designed to study two large
bodies in the asteroid belt: Vesta and Ceres. The dawn mission journeys to the center
of the main asteroid belt to orbit and explore the two most massive main belt
asteroids, Vesta and Ceres. Dawn aims to increase or understanding not just of the
present state of these two bodies, but also of the conditions during the time of their
formation. It attempts this through achieving a set of measurement objectives in
which the physical properties of these asteroids such as mass, slopes, size, density,
and spin state are accurately determined, and in which the mineralogical and
elemental composition of the surface and near surface material are probed. Dawn
employs ion propulsion technology to enable a modestly sized launcher to start a
moderately sized spacecraft on its journey, to not only reach the two massive
asteroids but also to orbit them, descending to near the surface. They both have
survived largely intact through the collisional history of the solar system.

There has been a lot of discussion about whether the two state solution is a valuable
option. The two state solution is not a valuable option because it will not stop the
fighting between Arabs and Israelis. The two state solution has been constantly
talking about through the Arab Israeli conflict, yet no side can completely agree on
whether or not a two state solution is a valuable option. If both sides agreed that they
wanted a two state solution, the Palestinians and the Israelis would both be
guaranteed their own state located in Israel. In agreeing to this solution, Israelis would
get the right to security and the right to keep the country Jewish majority with a

Importance Of Values In Social Work
Improving the lives of individuals is the objective of the social work profession.
There is six values within National Association of Social work Code of Ethics
(NASW): Service, Social Justice, Dignity, and Self worth of the person,
Importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. These values are
for social workers and their work with the client(s). Regardless of one s race,
religious belief, sex or sexual orientation each value benefits all individuals. Social
workers should always practice professional values. Clients suffer from when the
social worker does not uphold values. Code of Ethics is established for all social
workers to obey and follow them. In this this paper, I will discuss the how
Importance of Human Relationship will be the easiest to uphold and how Social

highly important in the social work profession.
Human relationships are valuable, not only in the social work profession but all
professions.
Looking back at my own experiences with working with the community and

other artists. Her craft cuts across different generations particularly her
achievements and contributions to the industry. According to Vanessa De Luca, the
editor in chief of Essence says that the rapper s work is remarkable and she serves

What Is The Structure Of Fire And The Rain By Karnad
everyman caught between the contradictory pulls of pleasure and responsibility,
materialism and possession. Apart from the Mythology upon which the play is
based, Karnad has employed the character of Sutradhara modeled on the narrator
commentator of folk theatre. The Sutradhara informs the audience about the
Mythological origin of the play as well as the theme of the play which emphasizes
the importance of supplied up to one s responsibility in life. Karnad has given
traditional story a new meaning and significance highly relevant in the context of life
today. The symbolic theme of Yayati s attachment to life and its pleasures, as also his
final possession, is continued. Karnad s originality lies in working out the motivations

Karnad takes myth as a faith builder for individual s spiritual evolution. He uses
folklore to connect the magic and reality and history as a positive concept to
analyse life and society. The past is not always dead for Karnad. Karnad uses myth in
his plays to express meaning for the contemporary life. He believes that the
significance of myth never dies. In an age of post modernism and globalization, he
observes people s craze for materialism and their simulation of western civilization. So
as conscious dramatists, he valorized myths, parables, legends and folktales in his
plays. He rewrites them in his plays as they provide immense scope for living. While
he uses mythical episodes in his plays he significantly aims at using them for social,
religious and philosophical purpose. He presents certain episodes of myth from the
Mahabharata and contextualizes them in contemporary human situations. It is
observed that his plays on myth are rooted in the ancient Indian dramatic tradition of
dharma, artha, karma and moksha . In the mythical imagination of his plays he
revives the ancient dramatic tradition in the celebration of the human and humane.
Presenting myths in human condition he links the present with the eternal and the

The Definitions Of Malpractice And Malpractice
In unit 9 the main components that will be utilized are the definitions of
malpractice, how to prepare for court as a defendant, as well as what pieces of a
trial consist of. Also there will be a component discussing compensatory negligence.
Liability issues Parties involved and who should be sued Defenses of the parties
Documents used by the Plaintiff s side will ask for and how they will be used
Standards of care Duty, breach, damages, and proximate cause Insurance issues Risk
management issues before and after the incident Documentation and mandatory
reporting Who should write the incident report and what should it say? The doctrine
of Respondeat Superior and how it would apply The issues surrounding informed
consent Preparation for court of the parties Proving malpractice occurred can be
difficult. For instance in case study one, there are several things that might constitute
malpractice but there are also such issues as informed consent and the
acknowledgement that not all adverse events are caused by malpractice. Despite what
may be a common societal belief, not all unexpected, unintended, or even undesired
medical results can be attributed to the fault of a healthcare provider. The law
identifies that much of nursing care requires clinical judgment. Therefore, a patient
must prove four requisite elements to establish a malpractice case. First, the patient
must establish that there was a nurse patient relationship (Giordano, 2003). It is out
of the nurse patient
Olympic National Park
This month my dad and I are visiting five different national treasure national parks.
Today my dad and I are visiting Olympic national park. I cannot wait for this park. I
heard that it was supposed to be beautiful and trust me it is. Olympic park is
located in Port Angeles, Washington. It was established in June 29 in 1938. The
size of the land is about 922,000 acres. The park is part of the olympic peninsula
and it encompasses 1,441 square miles of it. Some characteristics are that the park is
almost completely circular. The park has about thirteen rivers. There is about eleven
mammals nearby. There s one famous mountain that s called Mount Olympus. A fun
fact is that some features were shaped by water and some ice, that s what some
residents... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some fun facts is that there is only one national natural landmark and that is the
point of arches. There is over 3,000 miles of rivers and streams, and that is a lot for
a park especially for Washington. There is 73 miles of wilderness coast. Wow! 60
named glaciers(not counting the ones that aren t named). Our legs started to hurt
on the second day because there s over 64 trailheads and we only did about 20 of
them. I wish i was a Junior Ranger because in 2005 there was about 8,400 rangers.
I guess that s why the park is popular. The park must be huge because there was
about 457 buildings. And i was lucky to get one because there was a lot of people. I
should ve brought my fitbit because there s 611 miles of trail. I would ve of gotten
all my steps in by the time I was done that day. What I didn t think would happen is
that there would be 2,002 law enforcements reports in 2005 which was a surprise to
me. I was kind of scared because I didn t know what would happen. Also in 2005
there was 31 search and rescue missions. Everything happened in 2005 from the
rangers and law enforcement reports to the search and rescue missions. Now that I
have learned about all five parks I see that not all have a good

  • 1. Essay My Self Writing an essay about oneself, often referred to as "Essay My Self," can be a challenging task. The difficulty lies in the delicate balance one must strike between self-expression and humility, introspection and objectivity. The challenge is not merely stringing together a series of personal anecdotes or achievements but crafting a narrative that is genuine, engaging, and reflective. The process of delving into one's own experiences, beliefs, and aspirations requires a deep level of self-awareness. Choosing which aspects of one's life to highlight and which to omit is a delicate decision, as it shapes the reader's perception. Striking the right tone is equally crucial—neither sounding boastful nor overly modest. It's a constant battle between portraying oneself authentically and adhering to the societal expectations of modesty. Moreover, the introspective nature of such an essay can be emotionally taxing. Confronting personal challenges, successes, and growth may evoke strong emotions. Maintaining a balance between vulnerability and professionalism is a tightrope walk, as oversharing can be detrimental while too much reserve might make the essay impersonal. Another aspect of the challenge is to avoid clichГ©s and generic statements. It's easy to fall into the trap of using common phrases or overused expressions, diluting the uniqueness of one's individuality. Crafting a narrative that stands out amidst a sea of similar stories requires creativity and a keen understanding of one's own experiences. In addition, the essay must be coherent and well-structured. Jumping between different aspects of one's life without a clear thread can confuse the reader and dilute the impact of the essay. Striving for a balance between a chronological account and thematic coherence adds an additional layer of complexity. While the difficulty may seem daunting, the reward lies in the opportunity for self-reflection and growth. Writing an essay on oneself is not only a literary exercise but a journey of self-discovery. It challenges the writer to articulate thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that resonates with others. In conclusion, crafting an essay about oneself is no simple task. It demands a delicate dance between authenticity and modesty, introspection and objectivity. The emotional toll, coupled with the need for creativity and structure, makes it a formidable challenge. Yet, it is through this challenge that individuals can not only showcase their unique identities but also embark on a profound journey of self-discovery. For those seeking assistance in such endeavors, it's worth exploring various resources. Similar essays and more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, providing a helping hand in navigating the intricacies of self-expression and storytelling. Essay My Self Essay My Self
  • 2. French Indian War Relationship After the French Indian War the relationship between England and the colonies of North America made a gradual change from allies to adversaries. This relationship change can be attributed to consequences of the French and Indian War, the various intellectual and religious movements taking place, and the their differences in attitudes towards authority. The consequences of the French and Indian War began to weigh heavily on both parties. The first issue faced was how to manage and assimilate the territories gained from France. Parliament declared the Proclamation Line in 1763, which forbade all settlement past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains. This line was not well received by all colonists. This movement brought on a consumer revolution, gentrification, spread of print media, and an admiration for all things English. This movement started to blur the lines of social classes. The consumer revolution made luxury items more accessible to commoners. An explosion of print media allowed information to be better distributed among more people in a shorter amount of time. What had previously been reserved for the wealthy was now available for the middle class. The Enlightenment was another of these movements; this brought forth ideas like rationalization, pragmatism, and moderation. The movement helped lay the base for a separation of church and state. Many of the nation s most influential founders found inspiration from the enlightenment. Another of these movements was the Great Awakening. Religion became revived and itinerant preaches became popular. The Great Awaking in the American colonies led to changes in religious understanding. Just like Anglicization, the Great Awakening also challenged the class system. Religion became more prevalent among women, African Americans and Indians, and the poor. Some slave owners for the first time were teaching their slaves to read so they could study the bible. Just like luxury items and access to literature, religion was no longer

  • 4. The Use of Birds in Chronical of a Death Foretold by... In the novel, Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, birds are used as motifs intentionally in the imagery of scenes to convey sentiments, ideas and messages to the reader. Some of the roles taken by the symbolism of birds include indicating signs of the future and afterlife, supporting character portrayal and development throughout the text. The symbolism of birds is discussed in the essay because the recurring images of birds have a pertinent significance to the novella. In literature, birds are commonly viewed as signs of freedom while in flight, yet while they are entrapped in cages, they symbolize the struggle for freedom. The birds hold significance in this passage in the metaphor comparing bird shit to life ruining events. Reflection On Crime And Crime Over the semester, our class has focused on race, ethnicity, and crime and how it has played a role in why certain individuals are targeted, labeled, and victimized. I want to focus on how the police play a role in this matter and connect it to adolescents getting targeted, labeled and victimized because this is a problem especially in schools. The police and schools use different mentalities when dealing with certain situations, this can create these individuals to believe that there is a separation between the two groups. When someone becomes labeled, that individual will start believing the words that are said about them. This is called a self fulling prophecy . Introduction
During the course of this class I have learned about social problems within the society in which we live and around the world. It is disturbing to learn that poverty, social inequality, race and cultural discrimination, gender stratification, environmental damage, population growth, and urbanization are among the social problems and controversial issues that still exist in the United States. What is Social Stratification Social stratification is defined as a system by which society ranks categories of people in a hierarchy. For example, There are fundamental principles of stratification: slavery, caste, and class. The class system which is characterized by its social mobility social stratification is a characteristic of society not because of individual differences, but because social stratification persists over generations. Each of these groups is stratified into its own class; the group of people ranked most closely to them in property, power, and prestige. • 11. Clean Room Vs Messy Room All of our lives, we ve been told to stay organized. Organization has always been linked to success and less stress. Whether at home or at school organization is something that has been taught to almost everyone since we were born. So which is better? A clean room or a messy room. Some would say that a clean room is better than a messy room. I disagree with that statement. While a clean room does have it s advantages a messy room helps you flourish in mindand soul. Sure, the state of your room may represent how your mind works but disorderliness isn t always bad. There are 2 types of messy: cluttered or just dirty. While clutter shows personality and possibly creativity, a dirty room is very negative and is not helpful in any way. Disorderly roomslooks bad to the people who don t own them but the people who made it that way feel at home when in their room. Consider this from Albert Einstein, If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, then what are we to think of an empty desk? He looked unkempt and was reportedly messy in his personal life, but was certainly a creative genius. Einstein wasn t alone. Mark Twain, too, had a cluttered desk. Perhaps even more cluttered than that of Albert Einstein. Mark Twain was one of the most imaginative minds of his generation. One university got a bunch of students to sleep in specific rooms half messy and half clean. After a few days in the dorms the research conductors asked the students to give ideas on how to decorate a ping

One possibility for the divide was in an English disagreement about rituals. Freemasonry s transformation began in the 1750s, after the American Revolution. Renown Freemason Benjamin Franklin was a Modern that brought together many of the colonies most prominent men that championed their gentility, cultivation, and high social standing. Meanwhile, the Ancients included men who lacked political power and social distinction. However, the new Ancient lodges proved to be a more attractive (Bullock, 85). What stood out in the reading was that the Grand Lodge lead by Benjamin Franklin no longer existed. Also, its previous members could not set foot in a lodge room until a ceremony of healing converted them from an unacceptable Modern Mason into an Ancient brother. By opening Masonry to social groups outside the strata of elites located along principal seaports and by preserving the idea of fraternity, made Ancient Masons appealing (Bullock, 86). Interestingly, Freemasonry flaws in the 1740s allowed some Irish to establish their London Lodges without the original grand lodge s approval. They became known as the Ancients who were also termed the Irish Faction. The Revolution further damaged the Moderns and by 1800, nearly all American lodges identified themselves as Ancient (Bullock, 90). The 19 islands of the archipelago, including Midway atolls, receive massive quantities of plastic debris, shot out from the Pacific gyres (Smith, 2011). Some beaches are buried under 5 to 10 feet of plastic, while other beaches are riddled with plastic sand . One of the reasons marine debrisaccumulates in these islands is the movement of debris within the North Pacific Subtropical Convergence Zone (STCZ) (Steiner and Helgesen, 2016). Images of wounded and tangled marine wildlife have engulfed the media for many years and attempts are being made around the world to curb the increasing levels of macro plastic pollution (large, visible pieces of plastic debris). Marine plastic pollution has a global impact on marine wildlife, habitat and human health and economy in various ways. The most publicized of which is through entanglement and ingestion (refer to graph 1 in appendices) (Allsopp et al., n.d.). However, once the human made polymers are ingested, they can lead to physical blockages, gut impaction and perforation, choking, the transfer of toxic compounds, reduced food intake that leads to malnutrition and eventually starvation (Plastic Waste: Ecological and Human Health Impacts, 2011). While macro plastic debris, such as fishing lines and plastic bags, is the main contributor to entanglement, both micro and macro debris are ingested across a wide range of marine

In 1848 a group of abolitionist activists met in Seneca Falls, New York to discuss the problem of women s rights. They met with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott and decided that it was about time that women started getting their own chance at a lifestyle of their own choice. During the 1850 s women right talk was died down by the civil way but right after it ended and the 14th and 15 amendments came into play new question arose. They refused to support the 15th Amendment and joined forces with racist Southerners who argued that white women s votes could be used to balance out those votes cast by African Americans. In 1869, a group called the National Woman Suffrage Association was formed and began to fight for a universal suffrage amendment to the federal Constitution. Some women went as far as starving themselves to prove that we need to be equal to men in every aspect. But in 1890 we said forget being treated as equals! we just want the right to vote because, we have different opinions and viewpoints than men and we should be able to voice them. A few advocates wanted women to have the right to vote because, they thought it would help spread their cause and it would over throw the blacks who, were quickly rising economically as well as the environmentally and return the white supremacy that they had when blacks were frowned upon and treated like property .Us women piggy backed off of that to help make others notice our need to vote and voice

Hamilton not only saw this as a more economical way to obtain arms, but also as a way to cut ties with foreign arms producers, which he thought was key to national security. This seemingly small proposal at the time, lead to the eventual production of arms on American soil. From this point onward the country s defense and economy were intertwined. As the need for more weapons grew, the process of making them transformed from a single person hand crafting a gun, to an assembly line of people each trained to build a separate part of a gun. In 1808 a policy for arming the United States militia called for more guns to be made. This act supplied the militia with $200,000 in arms and military equipment annually.(Encyclopedia of the New American Nation, 2013) Pretty soon thereafter national arms systems were set upon the national armories. A network of reliable arms manufacturers emerged. Contracts were drawn up between these armories and private manufacturers, who were more likely to test new means and materials to improve guns. This was key to an ideal system of arms production. This was the beginning of the military industrial complex. It was here that the desire for an innovative military arms snowballed into the high tech industry that it is today. The History Of Immunostaining Methods The history of immunostaining methods began when Marrack produced reagents against typhus and cholera microorganisms, using a red stain conjugated to benzidin tetraedro (1) However, Professor Albert H. Coons from Harvard School of Medicine first introduces immunofluorescence. Coons initial attempts to label antibodies were unsuccessful as the labels were not visible enough under the microscope. In the early nineteen forties Coons, Creech, Jones and Berliner succeeded in tagging antibodies (2). These antibodies were used to detect foreign antigens in tissues. This involved using a single fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) labeled anti pneumococcal antibody to find pneumococcal antigens in mice injected with large numbers of pneumococci (1). In 1959 Singer used an electron dense protein in order to achieve ultrastructural localisation. The protein ferritin was used to tag an antibody because fluorescein lacks electron opacity. Electron microscopy could be used in immunohistochemistry as a result of this as the presence of iron in the protein makes it electron dense (1). In 1965 Sternberger used uranium to develop the first electron opaque heavy metal technique for ultrastructural localisation (3). Owing to the large molecular size of ferritin, ferritin labeled antibody penetrates tissues poorly also heavy metal labeled antibody has provided insufficient increase in contrast at the sites of antigen antibody reactions to be useful. This brings up the discussion should artificial intelligence be given to robots? This is also demonstrated in West World, which has similar ideologies to both the film and text. In West World robots are engineered to appear identical to humans, artificial intelligence is also given to them. Certain characters slowly begin to realize the truth about their world and start to rebel against the humans. Which is exactly what happens in (R.U.R) and Ex Machina, the way that they are created and how they communicate with humans is essential. Both characters acquire artificial consciences about the situation they are in, and the result of that is Ava and Radius causing destruction that humanity
  • 21. Mind Wandering To fully comprehend the extent of the effect mind wandering can have on an individual and their education we must understand how learning in a classroom based environment tends to work. Many educational tools that are used involve discourse comprehension. Discourse comprehension is explained as an ongoing process where the individual receives stimuli from an external environment, which is then encoded and translated into terms that can be understood and consistent with their internal depictions (Smallwood, Fisherman Schooler, 2007). The most obvious explanation for mind wanderings negative impact on learningis that it represents a block or breakdown of the normal coupling or comprehension process between the external stimuli to the internal representations (Smallwood Schooler, 2006). Discourse comprehension, or processing, is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The consequences linked with moderate engagement were that participants showed superficial encoding, that their answers coincided with their own autobiographical memories. The deepest levels of engagement with external stimuli involves individuals to read, retain information and then give a narrative of events occurring beyond the time of the current external input. Mind wandering during this setting, such as reading, occurs less than during signal detection, about 20 40% of the time (Schooler et al., 2005). Mind wandering is believed to deny individuals the ability to encode information correctly meaning that the consequences associated with mind wandering during the deepest level of engagement are that we produce an impaired building of the initial model given, we cannot reproduce an accurate narrative of the events. Mind wandering is prevalent across all levels but more frequent when less attention is required. Similarly mind wandering negatively impacts recall across all levels, having a slightly different effect depending of the level of engagement but having the worst impact on tasks requiring a deeper level of

Clinical Reasoning and Judgement in The Nursing Process Critical thinking and clinical reasoning are essential skills to develop a sound clinical judgement. Nurses use critical thinking models and processes to support and organize the interventions that they perform in the clinical setting. In the scenario of Mr. Patient requesting for a Do Not Resuscitate order, I used the nursing process to serve as the framework of the patient care and the Lasater s Clinical Judgment Rubric by Kathie Lasater (2007) to guide my reflection. In this paper, I will describe the skills that were used in relation to the nursing process, provide analysis of the model and application of learning in terms of CNO competencies, and evaluate my clinical decision making in terms of patient outcomes. While, the nursing process, served as a guide to organize my thought process in relation to the overall picture of the patient, I also incorporated thinking structures such as ABC and Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs to determine the prioritization in each activity. Furthermore, I utilized the Structured Prebriefing Worksheet by Karin Page Cutrara (2015) to make inferences from the data before engaging in the scenario. Clinical Reasoning Skills in Scenario The main clinical issue in the scenario is the need of a Do Not Resuscitate order by the client. In the pre briefing process, I predicted that the patient needs medication to reduce his chronic pain related to his previous medical history of prostate cancer and transurethral resection of prostate. Using the nursing process, I am able to systematically assess and deliver appropriate interventions to the patient. I prioritize his chronic pain over his feelings, based on the Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs. As I complete his physical assessment, I noticed that his pain level is the only variable that is out of the normal limits. I examined his pain in detail using the PQRST pain assessment tool. I tried to look for more gaps in my assessment when I inquire about his feelings in which I learned that patient would like to have a DNR order. In the planning phase, the health care team had a discussion about prioritization. On one hand, the patient s pain level is eight out of ten that needed

Through poor research design, incorrect statistical analysis or inappropriate conclusions, experimenters can conduct virtually useless studies, or worse, call into question the integrity of researchers. However, analysis of poorly conducted research is essential to the improvement of the scientific method. Presented shall firstly be a literature review regarding a growing contemporary body of literature, premised on the association between stressors, management strategies and cortisollevels. Additionally, a replication study examining powerful poses and cortisol levels shall be analysed and critically and constructively evaluated. Cortisol commonly known as the stress hormone is a steroid hormone regulated by the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis, an interaction of endocrine glands thought to be crucial in adapting to behavioural and environmental changes. Cortisol effects many functions within the body, including control of blood sugar levels, regulating the metabolism, reducing inflammation and assisting in immune responses (Randall, 2010; Shu Fen et al. 2015). The main function of cortisol is to restore homeostasis to the body following stress, and it is the primary hormone responsible for the stress response. Fluctuation of cortisol levels throughout the day is normal for humans, however, sustained high levels of cortisol can have adverse effects. These can include serious health implications
  • 25. The Importance Of Sense Of Belonging In Human Development There is a various of research and theories that discuss the importance of a sense of belonging in human development. An individual s sense of belonging relates to feelings of acceptance and being valued in a space (Goodenow, 1993). Baumeister Leary (1995) states that the belongingness hypothesis is one that predicts that humans have intrinsic motivation to cultivate meaningful, long lasting relationships with frequent interactions. People need the feeling of encouragement and a sense of belonging with other individuals, making community belonging and attachments an essential key to positive human psychological and physical health. An individual s feeling of belonging and acceptance is especially important for latino adolescents. According to Maurizi, Ceballo, Epstein Ngo, Cortina (2013), when latino adolescents have a greater sense of neighborhood belonging, they tend to have lesser levels of depression and anxiety. There are several things that may impact adolescents sense of community, including community violence exposure, their fear of crime, and community based activities that they participate in. Youth s exposure to community violence is prevalent. Community violence exposure is how frequent adolescents witness or are the victims of violent events in their community (Ceballo, Dahl, Aretakis Ramirez, 2001). In Finkelhor, Turner, Ormrod, Hamby (2009) survey, 60% of the responding youth stated that they were a witness or victimto community violence at least
