Science Essay Topic
Writing an essay on the topic of "Science Essay Topic" can be a challenging task, requiring a
delicate balance between technical accuracy and engaging narrative. The difficulty lies in the vast
scope of the subject, encompassing various branches such as physics, chemistry, biology, and
more. The need to convey complex scientific concepts in a clear and understandable manner adds
another layer of complexity.
To begin with, researching the chosen science topic is a meticulous process. Navigating through
scientific journals, textbooks, and online databases demands time and patience. Understanding
intricate theories, experimental methodologies, and the latest discoveries is essential to present a
well-informed and up-to-date essay.
Crafting an essay also involves the challenge of striking a balance between technical jargon and
accessibility. Communicating complex ideas to a broad audience while maintaining accuracy is a
fine art. Translating scientific language into layman's terms without oversimplifying requires a
careful choice of words and a thorough understanding of the topic.
Moreover, organizing the essay coherently is crucial. Arranging ideas logically, building a
persuasive argument, and ensuring a seamless flow from one point to the next require meticulous
planning. Achieving clarity while maintaining the interest of the reader is a continuous challenge
throughout the writing process.
Addressing counterarguments and presenting a well-rounded perspective adds another layer of
difficulty. A comprehensive science essay should acknowledge different viewpoints,
demonstrating a nuanced understanding of the subject matter. This not only requires in-depth
research but also critical thinking skills to evaluate and analyze contrasting opinions.
In conclusion, writing an essay on a science topic demands a combination of research skills,
technical understanding, communication finesse, and critical thinking. It's a process that requires
dedication, time, and attention to detail to produce a high-quality piece of academic writing.

The Things They Carried Essay
After the devastation that World War II left the world, no one wanted to go into
another war. Families lost their members, countries lost their dignity, and some
soldiers were left with the moments of war forever in their minds. However, the
concern that communism was going to spread made Vietnam become the longest
war in American History. During this time a lot of young people were anti war,
they were sick of losing people they loved to violence. Though the war still needed
to be fought so men became soldiers freely or because they were drafted. In the
story Things They Carried , soldiers are faced head on with the Vietnam War. Tim O
Brien shows how the men carry the weight of physical objects through out the war.

Every soldier hears the horror stories of war but never really understands till they
are in war themselves. In the short story, The Things They Carried all the soldiers
are constantly dreading every second. For example it is not good news when a
high command orders the soldiers to search the tunnel before having to blow them
up. No one knows what is going to be in the tunnels and for the lucky ones that do
not have to search the tunnels still feel the panic. The soldiers kneel down facing
away from the tunnel. The fear causes them to think of anything that is down there
such as, cobwebs and ghosts (O Brien 103). However, the soldier that is not so
fortunate crawls down into the hole shoving him self deeper into the ground.
Worry and concern drips over him as he starts to think what if the flashlight dies,
or if the rats have rabies, or what if a he gets stuck in the tunnel can the other
soldiers rescue him? Fear can get the best of soldier and cause them not to be the
best soldier they can be. Apprehension can weigh a soldier down mentally and
physically. It can cause a soldier worry about things such ghosts while their main
concern should be on their objective. At night the soldiers place claymores, which
are bombs set on the ground to go off on an intruder then they crawl into their holes,
lie down and spend the whole night waiting (O Brien 103). It was impossible for the
soldiers to get rest because they constantly
Black Humor in Catch-22
Black Humor in Catch 22 Joseph Heller uses black humor to express normally
emotional scenarios in humorous ways in his writing. One of the clearest examples
of Joseph Heller using black humor is in his novel, Catch 22. The story follows
Yossarian, a man enlisted in the United States Air Force during World War II, and his
frightening experiences while in service. Yossarianwitnesses many scenes throughout
the story which most people would find extremely emotional or graphic during the
war (or even today), but Joseph Hellermanages to make these scenes humorous so
that people could temporarily forget about the seriousness of the situation and that
some of the scenes were things that were actually happening during World War

The entire situation is quite sad, but the way Kid Sampson s death is described in
the story is very humorous but the black humor was used because Joseph Heller
believed authority wasn t as smart as most people thought it was and he wanted to
get this message to the reader. Hungry Joe, another minor character in the story, is
affected by the war in a similar way that Captain Flume was; it causes him to act
abnormal while sleeping. Hungry Joe had fled the most missions out of everyone
else which would explain why he is affected majorly from all of the things he
witnessed in combat. He is described to be terrified of death (like Yossarian) and he
frequently wakes up in the middle of the night screaming because of dreams he
has. One of the other character s cats also sleeps on Hungry Joe s face in the night
which adds to the hilarity of the situation. Although this is funny because of the cat
and Hungry Joe s screaming waking up everybody, it is a sad situation which
Heller mad into black humor to show, again, the way soldiers were affected by the
war and the negative impacts it had on them. Yossarian is constantly afraid of death
throughout the story and it is clear that the cause of this fear is derived from the
numerous amount of missions Colonel Cathcart puts him through and because of his
other experiences in the Air Force. There is a scene in which Yossarian says he keeps
a list in his head of all
Colonial Survival, Prosperity, and Entitlement in the New...
Christopher Columbus attempt to find a quick route to Asia resulted in a failure of
epic proportions: Columbus failed to find Asia and, instead, began one of the longest
and most prolific examples of cultural repression in history. Columbus, along with
those who followed him to the New World brought with them a fundamental belief in
cultural superiority that defined the European invasion and infestation. These
attitudes had a significant and long term impact on the native cultures and provided
the Europeans with justification for the position of power of which they grabbed
hold. The Europeans, however, owe the Native Americans a great debt of gratitude:
without the Native Americans, Europeans would have either starved or left for lack of

a fur trade between the Native Americans and the Europeans. [T]he fur trade was
essentially an unequal exchange, with furs selling in Europe for ten or twenty times

they would provide bases from which to raid the Spanish in the Caribbean,

History of the Development of Computers Essay
DEVELOPMENT OF COMPUTERS
As we are stepping towards the era of 2020, man have consistently been innovative
and creative in developing and improving technology for various sectors to make the
world a better place for us to live in. If we look closely today, the development of IT
and Computer sector and its application have greatly influenced various other sectors
like telecommunication, transport, agriculture, labour, finance, etc to be more
efficient and effective at their work.
Computers have created a drastic impact in our lives. In fact we are so dependent on
computers that life without computers will certainly be incomplete. In current times
most of us own computer gadgets like Private Computer Dekstops Notebooks,

It was designed to be used to perform basic arithmetic operations. Every computer
supports some form of input, processing as well as output. In a modern computer,
these processing is done electronically hence enabling a vastly greater number of
calculation to be performed in lesser time. Binary codes which are representations of
numerical numbers were used to process images, sounds, text and graphic. In digital
computers, there are ones and zeros that represents the electrical on and off states and
endless combinations of those to process any input.
Moving on, the development of computer can be assessed from two perspectives.
One perspective would be the invention of hardware components over time like
vacuum tubes, transistors, integrated circuits and microprocessors that can be
referred to as a generation of change. In the other hand, another perspective would
be how user friendly were the computers over a period of time. In the 1950s the
computers were almost impossible to use except by very patient geniuses. Next in
the 1960s and 1970s, it could only be programmable by highly trained people. Lastly,
from the 1980s till present time the computers are now smaller cheaper and useable
by just about anyone.
From the hardware development perspective, the first generation of computer was the
Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer (ENIAC). These first electronic
computers used vacuum tubes. They were huge and complex,
Examples Of Locus Of Control
Locus of Control is considered to be an important aspect of personality. The concept
was developed originally Julian Rotter in the 1950s (Rotter, 1966). Locus of Control
refers to an individual s perception about the underlying main causes of events in his
/her life. The full name Rotter gave the construct was Locus of Control of
Reinforcement. In giving it this name, Rotter was bridging behavioural and cognitive
psychology. Rotter s view was that behaviour was largely guided by reinforcements
(rewards and punishments) and that through contingencies such as rewards and
punishments, individuals come to hold beliefs about what causes their actions. These
beliefs, in turn, guide what kinds of attitudes and behaviours people adopt.Locus of
control is conceptualised as referring to a unidimensional continuum, ranging from
external to internal: External Locus of Control Individual believes that his/her
behaviour is guided by fate, luck, or other external circumstances Internal Locus of
Control Individual believes that his/her behaviour is guided by his/her personal
decisions and efforts. In simplistic terms, a more internal locus of control is generally
seen as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

authority as a virtue unto itself. Authoritarian parents see their primary job to be

Italian And Italian Folk Music
Italian Folk Culture Music Italian folk music reflects the area s history, language,
and its ethnic composition. Italian folk music can identify the region, it is from. In
the North the music is symbolic with intelligible lyrics and a very strict tempo
compared to the Southern region, which has a more stained vocal style (Italian
Music). Folk music began developing with the shift from writing in Latin to Italian
around 12th century Italy (Italian Music). Italy s diverse variety of folk music
represents the cultural uniqueness and each s regions own individuality. Folk Songs

Folk Music In the song Adio Venesia adio the music is started with bells and then is
not again unaccompanied with an instrument for the rest of the song. Although this
song does not feature many instruments other Italian folk songs do. One is bells
used during New Year s Eve and Carnival, to expel evil spirts; these bells are more
commonly known as cow bells. The high pitched clear sounded bells are
accompanied by percussions different folk songs during a precession and other loud
metal objects like pots (Musical Instruments from Calabria). During Holy Week a
trГ ccola, tree frog and curettage are used similar to how the cow bell is used during
Carnival and New Year s Eve. The tree frog is a wooden cane with a tongue like put
on top of a wheel to create a scrapping, clicking sound (Musical Instruments from
Calabria). The trГ ccola is multiple wooden boxes with in each other along with
gears the whole instrument is operated by a wooden hand crank on the outside; it
makes a similar sound to the tree frog but only louder (Musical Instruments from

2-Methylcyclohexanol Molecules
INTRODUCTION: The polymerization of sugar molecules, such as sucrose and
fructose, involves the dehydration of two sugar monomers to produce a peptide C=O
bond, and the release of water. This common biomolecular mechanism has been
greatly studied within the science disciplines. For Biologists, they ve studied how
nature does it, and for Chemist, they ve studied how we mimic, and manipulate it.
Chemist refer to such chemical reactions, in which atoms or groups of atoms are
removed from a molecule, as an elimination. Elimination reactions are very common
in organic chemistry. Examples include the dehydration of alcohols and the
dehydrohalogenation of alkyl halides. The dehydration of alcohols is the method
most frequently used in the laboratory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Devil And Tom Walker Essay
Washington Irving s The Devil and Tom Walker illustrates how an individual s
corruption results from their ability to resist temptation, the virtue to act generously,
and the self discipline to perform genuinely. Temptation, symbolized by the Devil
and characterized by desperation in this prose, is that catalyst that forces Tom s
proverbial ball to roll. First and foremost, Tom chooses a shortcut home out of ease
and lack of time that like most shortcuts... was an ill chosen route (280); along his
path of smothering mud (280) and half drowned, half rotting [hemlocks and pines]

confronts the Devil for the first time and eventually ends up selling his soul
Racism And Slavery During The 19th Century
Racism is not just restricted to slavery and blacks, racism can be applied to
anyone, and in 19th century England this was a huge problem. The 19th century
was a trying time for those who were concerned with the abolition of slavery, those
who were opposed to it were greatly concerned about losing their wealth or just
concerned with the principle of a lower race being free. However those who were
opposed to slaverywere sick of seeing other humans being treated so poorly and
saw it as inhuman. This is a crucial point in history, in the early 19th century no one
knew how this was going to end, if slavery would be abolished or not. With this in
mind the abolition of slavery was on the center stage in England from 1800 to
1833, this would be an issue until slavery was abolished. Not everyone would be
happy with this going away, and resistance started to pile up but in the end it was a
futile slavery was abolished in 1833. This was met with a lot of resistance in the
outer colonies of the British Empire, these colonies wanted to keep their slaves so
that they always had access to free labor. Slaves that heard about the abolition of
slavery in these colonies tended to rise up against their owners, this usually ended in
bloodshed for the colonies. However once this ended former slaves still had trouble
getting jobs and finding work, with competition from other cultures for work was
high so this didn t help their cause. What it boiled down to in the end was racism, this
The Dangers Of Children On The Playground
Children on the playground are often quick to react to perceived violent actions by
fellow youth. Quips like You hit me so I will hit you can be heard. The children
are all grown up now, their names are America and the Soviet Union, and
furthermore the stakes are immensely superior to a playground squabble. In 1945,
there was no doubt the Allies would win the wars versus Germany and Japan,
however, the unanswerable question was: How long, and how any lives, and how
much destruction would there be before the Axis powers capitulated Bridger, S.
(2016)? Like children on the playground, a dangerous game was played with the
stakes of worldwide destruction. This tit for tat preventative became known as
mutually assured destruction (MAD) The A Bomb, made in America with all its
destructive power was inconceivable to many. However, after use on the cities of
Nagasaki and Hiroshima, and the horrific devastation which resulted, the world
took notice. The A Bomb was the new Playstaion, everyone kid wants the newest
Playstation. Unfortunately the A Bomb is not a game console, but a device
unthinkable devastation. At the end of the 1960 s era movie called Dr. Strangelove
it depicts the lunacy of the mutually assured destruction concept, and the fragility of
how close to the brink of destruction the world is (Dr Strangelove, 2016). The
movie ends with the actor Slim Pickens riding atop an atomic bomb dropped in from
an American B 52(Dr Strangelove, 2016) . As baffling as this
How Governments Spend Tax Dollars
SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICTS
Citizens expect government to provide high quality, low cost services through
efficient use of public tax dollars. However, local governments with tight budgets and
a multitude of needs vying for public funds often struggle to improve or even
maintain services within their boundaries. Budget shortfalls may result in non
essential programs like parks, libraries and community colleges becoming severely
underfunded or defunct, despite strong objections by citizens. County and city
governments throughout the United States have increasingly responded to these
difficulties by implementing special taxing districts (Turk, 2004). Special taxing
districts are separate government entities, which typically administer a single
service within a defined geographical boundary. Some districts provide a new
service, while others acquire responsibilities once held by general purpose
governments. The services they provide are broad, ranging from essential functions
like fire protection, highways, and hospitals, to more obscure tasks of mosquito
abatement and upkeep of cemeteries (U.S. Census Bureau, 2012). Since 1952,
special taxing districts in the United States have increased over 200%, with 38,266
special districts comprising 40% of local government in 2012. During the same time,
municipalities have increased slightly, while the number of townships and school
districts both decline (U.S. Census Bureau, 2012). The structural changes in local
government have been
Literary Devices In Medea
When Love Backfires
Euripides Medea is a tragic play that takes place in Corinth, Greece. It was first
produced in 431 BC. It was during this time that Corinth and Athens were rivals,
fighting to have the upper hand. In fact, Corinth and Sparta teamed together against
Athens during the Peloponnesian War in 431 BC. Like most literature, Euripides
Medea incorporates the period in which it was written along with a timeless theme.
Euripdes uses the literary devices of setting, irony, and symbolism to depict the theme
of identity in relation to marriage.
The play Medea uses the setting to help the audience better understand the meaning
of the text. What is said depends greatly on who is around and where the
character(s) are. For example, when Medea is by herself or with the chorus, she is
speaking freely of her evil plans, however, when she was in the presences of Creon
or Jason, she lied to their faces. The audience knows what her true thoughts and
feelings are due to the setting. They are not tricked into thinking she has changed
her mind but instead, they know when she is lying based on who she is around.
After Medea devised a plan, she sent for Jason and pleades to him, Jason, I ask you
to forgive me for the things I said before. You re used to putting up with my temper,
since so many acts of love have passed between us... (Medea, 870). This quote is a
perfect example of how the setting changes the meaning of the words. This helps
portray the overall them of identity. Medea is now full of rage and anger due to her
husband leaving her for another woman. She has lost her sense of identity which
was found in her husband. She is a refugee in Corinth and has no friends or family.
She feels completely alone with nowhere else to turn but to anger and rage.
The literary device of irony is strategically used throughout the entire play. The
irony within the text works in Medea because the audience understands Medea s
thoughts and plans while the characters within the play do not. For instance, Jason
says, I will not carry on this quarrel any longer. But if you want to take me up on my
offer of money for the children or your own exile say so, I am ready to be generous
to you... (Medea, 610). What Jason does not
The M M Campaign Essay
Brand campaigns is generally regarded as application of specific activities created
to promote a product. Companies typically employ it when they want to increase
their sales. Use of one or an integrated media techniques may come into effects, for
instance, use of television, print and social media. The point is to capture the target
audience s attention as well as generate response from them. This is exactly what M
M managed to do with its Better with M campaign where they used unique
advertising and marketingapproaches that had emotional and psychological effect on
the target market. The M M campaign use of personification and personalization was
a brilliant move that cemented the company as leaders in candy and chocolate
manufacturing. Several slogans and ads run through people s TV screen during the
whole campaign period, and the fascinating aspect is that the were really engaging
and funny. The campaign featured super bowl commercial, digital ads, in store
displays, and perhaps the most critical cause related marketing.
This is analysis of the Better with M campaign. This paper explores how M M
devised and implemented successful advertising campaign through message strategy,
persuasive focus, persuasive appeal and correct execution. This will be done by
reviewing literature on marketing and advertising concepts. I will also look at the
cost used to implement this strategy and whether it was channelled in the right way.
Finally, the paper will examine the outcome of
The Phylogenic Tree
Phylogenic Tree Name
Institution Name The phylogenetic tree is also known as the evolutionary tree. As
the name suggests, it represents the relationship of evolution in different animal
species of animal that are represented in a tree like diagram or branching diagram.
The taxa that are drawn into diagram are according to their differences and
similarities in their genetic and physical materials. The animal that is seen today is at
the tip of the tree is the modern animal. The tree is often branched out from a
common ancestor into various species because of gene mutation or environmental
factor. Animals with common descendants have similar trait among them, and this is
referred as homology that can be in the structure like gene sequence. ... Show more

However, from the fossil record, approximately 545 million years ago,
diversification explosives occur leading to a significant number of multi celled
complex organisms. A large number of animal groups appear suddenly, and the
majority of them are still seen today and are called Phylum that is involved in the
branches of the evolutionary tree ( Ogishima, et al., 2015).Because of natural
selection, some animals that lack traits that are environmentally favorable are extinct
and only can be traced back with the fossil record. Before Cambrian explosion, there
is only unicellular organisms or simplest form of organism present, but due to change
in environment factor, it has led to the appearance of a multicellular organism and
exoskeleton body formed because of natural selection. Due to the shortage of oxygen
available in the earth, an animal does not get sufficient oxygen for metabolic
functions thus the increase in animal size is inhibited. After Cambrian explosion,
water and concentration of oxygen slowly accumulated, leading to the current broad
and complex animal. During Cambrian explosion the continental shelf increased,
environmental diversity expanded and shallow sea produced. This phenomenon occur
due to the breaking of super continental of Gondwana into smaller land masses that
cause variation between animals and enable the animal to specialize. Extant species
undergo a various level of evolution over time. Some species have undergone a lot
of evolution however others have not evolved. For example, the giraffe has had a
significant development (Doolittle, et al., 2012).The ancestor of the giraffe has a
short neck. Several animals, as well as giraffe, feed on lower vegetation. With time
the lower vegetation became less. With the food shortage, animals had to compete
among themselves to survive, hence giraffe began to
Advantages And Differences Between Netflix And Netflix
1948 was the first year cable services began in the U.S. Since then cable has
evolved over the years and is becoming increasingly more expensive annually.
Nevertheless, several individuals are still selecting cable as their content provider,
when streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon exists. Streaming services
are a superior alternative to cable because they are convenient, offers a wide variety
of content for a reasonable price, provides content options based on viewer s
preference, and they do not have any commercials. Streaming services are convenient
for the customers because they can stream the content from anywhere and anytime,
and Netflix offers audio description. Cable subscribers can only watch TV in their
living room, and if they want cable service in their other rooms, it will cost them
additional money. On the other hand, Streaming services subscribers only need
internet access to stream content from their favorite streaming site. Also, streaming
services are accessible on smartphones, smart TVs, computers, iPad, tablets, and
gaming consoles. Thus, consumers can stream content from anywhere. In addition,
consumers can download TV shows and movies to their smartphones, if they are
traveling, and it is difficult to access the internet. Ledbetter from The Huffington Post

Miguel s long history with of alcohol use began when he was 13 years old and at
the age of 23 he was arrested for driving while under the influence. Even after his
arrest, Miguel continued to drink and believes his drinking is not a problem.
Currently, Miguel drinks an average of (2 to 3) rum and coke drinks per day (3 to
4) times a week. Miguel also reported intermittent use of marijuana throughout his
lifetime that also began around the age of 13. Miguel used marijuana heavily
throughout his 20 s and 30 s but currently reports smoking one to two joints per
month. Additionally, Miguel has smoked a half a pack of cigarettes a day for the
past ten years and has no desire of ever quitting. Miguel s affliction with watching
pornographic materials began in his childhood and reports that his first experience
with porn occurred when his father gave him a Playboy magazine to look at and
told him that he could learn about sex if he looked at these pictures and read the
articles. Miguel learned about masturbation by reading an article and since that
time his pornography use increases and decreases but has always been present.
Miguel was able to look at pictures from magazines for several years but when the
Internet boomed porn became more and more of an issue. Over the past 10 years,
Miguel has spent 2 3 hours per day on the internet looking at pornography websites;
however, his sexual behavior extends beyond the act of viewing pornographic
material that includes online chatting, internet hook ups, sex for pay, going to strip
clubs frequently, and sex with strangers. Miguel s wife is unaware of the extent of

Dementia Issues

with dementia are at a significant increase torisk of abuse, (see Manthorpe, et al

for a local authority, for people age 65 years and over. It soon became apparent that
different types of dementia seemed to permeate the caseload. The cases were
initially referred to social services due to challenges faced by a person to maintain
daily living tasks after a fall and hospital admission for example. Fundamentally, the
majority of cases were people with a form of dementia, and each case was as
complicated as the next. In order to highlight not only the physical but the emotional

Dementia is a term used for a variety of symptoms caused when brain cells stop
working correctly with a cognitive functioning decline, (Alzheimer s disease
International, 2012). Some types of dementia include; Alzheimer s disease, Vascular
dementia, frontal temporal dementia and Parkinson s disease and Lewy body

One in three people who die after the age of 65 are found to have dementia, and of
those, two in three are female, (Department of Health, DoH, 2015). Some of the
symptoms associated with dementia include, increased difficulties in
communication, action and response, changes in awareness, attention and
judgment, and visual spatial difficulties, (Alzheimer s research, UK, 2017). Data
collection states that dementia is expected to increase to 131.5 million worldwide
by 2050 from the current 46.8 million, (Alzheimer s Disease International, 2015).
Furthermore, the DoH, (2015), report that in the UK there are currently 850,000

Project Design Plan: * I want to know what type of paper airplane model will fly

a paper airplane will fly. The different shape and narrowness or width as well as
weight distribution are all factors in flight distance. So if I have a narrow paper
airplane, a very wide one, and one in between, which on will fly the farthest? * The
relevance of this experiment is similar to understanding a real airplane. Paper
airplane models are derived from an actual plane these days. The design of an

The Effect Of Neural Reflexes On The Gastrointestinal...
ows neural reflexes to occur solely in the gastrointestinal tract, independent of the
brain and spinal cord (Widmaier et al. 2014).
Within the tubular gastrointestinal tract, the ENS is formed by various interconnected
networks, called plexuses, of enteric neurons, glial cells, and axons (Widmaier et al.
2014). The majority of these nerve cells are found within two different arrangements
of ganglia (Fig. 1): the myenteric (Auerbach s) plexus and the submucosal (Meissner
s) plexus (Furness 2006; Guyton and Hall 2006). The nerve cells axons either synapse
with additional neurons in the plexus or innervate the smooth muscle of digestive
organs (Furness 2006). Neural activity in one plexus can affect activity in the other
since some axons in one plexus synapse with neurons in the other (Fig. 1) (Widmaier
et al. 2014). Extrinsic nerve fibers from the parasympathetic and sympathetic systems
can also synapse with neurons in each of the two plexuses (Fig. 1) (Guyton and Hall
2006). Though the ENS can function without these nerve pathways, the subsystems
of the ANS can influence gastrointestinal activity (Guyton and Hall 2006; Widmaier
et al. 2014). An example would include either inhibiting or enhancing the GI tract s
motility and secretory activity through the sympathetic and parasympathetic fibers
(Widmaier et al. 2014).
The myenteric and submucosal plexuses each have different physiological functions.
The myenteric plexus spans the length of the intestinal wall and consists of
Paris Peace Conference Vs Treaty Of Versailles
During the Paris Peace Conference, there were many different approaches how to
create an effective solution after the conflicts of the war. Georges Clemenceau of
France, who had also served during the French defeat in the Franco Prussian War,
wanted revenge on Germany by humiliating the country. The actions of the British
representative, David Lloyd George, were driven purely by self interest, and the
Italian representative, Vittorio Orlando, was greedy in his pursuit to acquire
colonies. However, the representative from the United States, President Wilson,
sought to create a plan that would create a fair peace. Wilson felt that it was essential
to create a proposal that would establish a liberal structure of peace to prevent major
European powers from engaging in further conflict over issues such as colonies. The
plan that President Wilson designed, called the Fourteen Points, outlined multiple
objectives. First, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final plan of the Conference, the Treaty of Versailles, was much different from
Wilson s Fourteen Points. Wilson s plan called for a just peace and prevent future
wars, whereas the Treaty of Versailles called for punishing Germany. The major
points of the Treaty included Germany losing one tenth of its land, Germany having
to downsize their army and disband their navy and airforce altogether, Germany
paying reparations that would cripple its economy, and Germany having to admit that
they were the cause of World War I. These points would allow for the rise of fascist
powers in Italy and Germany, eventually leading to the outbreak of World War II.
However, one success of Wilson s plan was Point 14, which led to the creation of the
League of Nations, a group of nations that would meet to prevent conflict and
preserve peace. Overall, the Fourteen Points were not well received at the Paris Peace
Conference and would not achieve the success that President Wilson hoped they

organization. It is important for the organization to feel they are in the right hands
after constant turmoil over the last 18 months. His strength here is having the

developing new relationships with streaming services.
A growing digital license would mean the organization should construct a deal with

Generation of electricity:
Nuclear Energy
A report for Zebra Tech
Abstract
This report reviews energy sources of the world traditionally used to generate
electricity, namely renewable and non renewable sources, giving a brief overview of
each of the 6 methods and how they generate electricity, and evaluates the suitability
of each by weighing up their advantages and disadvantages. It introduces nuclear
energy and gives a detailed description of the setup and process whereby electricity is
produced from nuclear energy. By weighing up a broad spectrum of advantages and
disadvantages of using nuclear energy, specifically various costs, risks and efficiency,
in comparison to traditional generation methods, the report determines that nuclear
energy is indeed suitable to use throughout the world.

The many advantages, particularly it low cost to produce electricity in comparison
to traditional methods, its efficiency and lack of emission of greenhouse gasses,
working independent of the weather and it s inverse effect on the consequent use of
fossil fuels outweigh it s few but notable disadvantages of cost to build power plants
and potential risks of radiation due to mishandling.
2. Overview of energy sources
There are numerous energy sources used worldwide, both renewable and non
renewable. The following are the most common.
2.1. Renewable energy
2.1.1. Wind energy
A popular renewable energy source is wind energy, used globally. Kinetic energy in
the form of wind turns large turbines, which the convert this energy into mechanical
energy, or electricity, as it supplies an electric generator, producing an electric current.
As the wind turns the blades of the turbine, a shaft connected to a generator is
consequently spun, resulting in the production of
The Real Estate Industry Is A Very Demanding Field
The real estate industry is a very demanding field. You have to truly be passionate
about real estate in order to be successful. A real estate agent needs to be willing to
go the extra mile and step out of their comfort zone in order to make their business

in order to be a successful agent. This past summer I had the opportunity to intern at
Keller Williams Realty in Waco, Texas. During the eleven weeks that I was there I

During my time at Keller Williams, I was able to get a glimpse of what being a
real estate agent is really like. It is not just all about going out and showing houses,
there is a whole process that leads up to actually having clients to go show
properties to. One of my first assignments was to read The Millionaire Real Estate
Agent by Gary Keller, who is the co founder of Keller Williams Realty. One of the
main concepts in the book that is emphasized at this office is the concept of the
three l s of the millionaire real estate agent. The three l s are leads, listings, and
leverage. By concentrating on leads, listings, and leverage, you are focusing on the
key activities that will yield the best return for your business.
The first of the three l s stands for lead generation. To have a successful business,
you must have client leads. Perspective buyers and sellers are the most important
part of a sales career. Some agents tend to miss how important this part of the
business is and end up spending their time on other less financially awarding
activities. To be perfectly clear, no leads means no sales, which means no income.
The agents at Keller Williams dedicate a lot of time to lead generation and they do it
in a variety of ways.
One of the most popular ways to lead generate is going door knocking around
popular neighborhoods asking owners if they have considered moving and listing
their house. Doing this may get agents both selling and buying
Me Before You Character Analysis
In the movie Me before you , not only Will s parents, friends, and workers all keep
mentioning and emphasizing that Will is disabled and needs help. It delivers an
idea that the life with a disability is not worth living. In the movie Finding Dory,
there are two characters with disabilities. Becky is an intelligent bird and helps
others a lot. She flies Marlin and Nemo everywhere; she helps to carry them by
putting them in a bucket with water and then carries the bucket and shouts out to
Gerald independently without any help. There is an another character in this movie
that is with disability. Gerald is a sea lion; he doesn t talk and is viewed as disabled
with bulging eyes, a unibrow, and dopey smile. In these examples, people with
disabilities are all viewed as inferior to non disabled peers. In addition, Will, Becky,
and Gerald all show that the two movies deliver an idea that the life of people with
disabilities is boring and they do not worth living. However, in these two movies,
characters with disabilities live well. In Me Before You, Will enjoyed his life with
Louisa, and it shows that people with disabilities can find someone they love. In
Find Dory, although Becky has mental disorder and can only speak with noises
instead of clear words, she is smart and uses her intelligence to help Nemo. In
addition, in these to movies, they deliver the idea that people with disabilities are all
viewed as inferior to non disabled peers through others characters

Wordsworth can only define modern England as a swampland, where people are
self centered and must be taught about things like manners, virtue, freedom and

Gender Discrimination Against Women In The United States
Since day one, women have been discriminated against. Women in different
workplaces and even women in the military often experience the feeling of
unequalness and hostility. In her article, A Base Hospital Is Not A Coney Island
Dance Hall, Kimberly Jensen says From our early twentieth first century vantage
point, there is abundant evidence that women in the military face hostile workplace
environment ( 206). Payment differences, why people choose to discriminate and
how the government is or is not involved should not be an issue in the United States

What makes people think that one race or gender is better than another? History
suggests that challenges to social inequality and injustice are typically led by
groups that occupy low status positions in the status hierarchy. Thus, for example,
it is primarily racial minority groups in the United States, Australia, and South
Africa who have taken action to claim their civil rights; it is mostly women who
have struggled to expand their gender group s restricted legal rights in various
domains ( see Tilly, 2004). ( Iyer, Ryan 792). Women have to fight for their rights ,
such as voting and having a voice in the world around us, while men just gain that
ability due to the gender that they were born in. Gender discrimination was an issue
in the past but we have not overcome the issue yet. Women still feel the uneasy
environment men put them in. In an article, It s a Mad Men World , Sydney Ember

Helas By Oscar Wilde Essay
The human brain is capable of savoring many fascinations in a lifetime. Despite that
it may further exploit an interest, it can be easily converted into an obsession and
quiet frequently, distort one s reality. Helas! by Oscar Wilde is a poem that measures
the narrator s indulgence in many passions, while being struck with uncertainty, and
as a consequence, questioning the life he picked. For this reason, he stands irresolute
in pursuit of the paths he has chosen in life, because sudden, confusing thoughts have
interfered with his ambitions. This will be made evident after examining the impact

Compared to the dissipation he used to have versus the lifestyle he has now, it
forces him to re evaluate the paths he has chosen. He now compares the importance
of ancient wisdom and austere control with decadence, contemplating that these
benefits stood superior to what he currently possess. Furthermore, judging by the
tone of the first quatrain, he seems nearly irritated that he s given up these
strengths for the way he lives now. This illustrates that his passion for self
indulgences has eliminated a plethora of possibilities to him, that will sooner or
later remain inaccessible. Unfortunately, the poet is now beginning to see the
repercussions of choosing decadence. Despite the abundance of this yearned way
of living, he nearly gets the last taste of it, as he explains in the last couplet: with a
little rod, I did but touch the honey of romance, and must I loose a soul s
inheritance? (Wilde, lines 12 14). This excerpt explains that while he faintly
touched decadence, he would be reminded of all the assets he acquired because of
this specific way of life. It leaves Wilde in a psychological crossroad, for his own
mind is unable to deduct right from wrong; he craves the decadent lifestyle, but is
aware of the consequences that will

Much more simple and rugged, our very well informed tour guide told us that this
rangy castle was built in the 13th century by the Teutonic Order especially for battles
as it is located on the border of Wallachia with Transylvania and was suffering from
attacks all the time. Its narrow corridors, the low tunnel staircases and its complex
construction like a labyrinth, allowed Romanians to fight the enemy with ease.
In the following years, the castle was used as customs office as it is conveniently
located on the Silk Road until it was taken by royal family in 1920. It initially
became the residence of Queen Mary and after her death it was given to her
daughter, Princess Iliana. It functioned as a hospital during World War II and then

Community Organizing and Policing Essay
Community Organizing and Policing
Introduction
Community Development refers to efforts to mobilize people, who are directly
affected by a community condition, into groups and organizations which enables
them to take action on the social problems and issues that concerns them. (http:/
/www.abacon.com/books/ab_020526834x.html) There are many reasons why
residents in a community form teams; the desire to create and act upon a shared
vision, develop community cohesion, and solve or reduce the impact of problems and
issues. As crime and violence increase in the communities, community organizing and
community policing plan strategies to combat these problems. (http:/

Racism political, economic, and social is at the core of the problem. (Rivera, 1)
Local government officials in many jurisdictions have directed increased attention
recently to identifying viable forms of citizen participation. They have acknowledged
problems associated with widespread public disengagement and the need to allocate
limited resources more effectively. The need for citizen participation poses a major
challenge for public managers. How do I get the citizens to participate in improving
their community? With a diverse community, how do we promote greater
understanding between residents of different ethnic backgrounds? Public managers
and employees must understand the importance of community organizing.
The different racial and cultural characteristics within a community propose various
issues. Culture is a collection of behaviors and beliefs that becomes a way of life.
We are defining culture as a collection of behaviors and beliefs that constitute
standards for deciding what is, standards for deciding what can be, standards for
deciding how one feels about it, standards for what to do about it, and standards for
deciding how to go about it. (Rivera, 7 8)
When there are various ethnic groups within a community often, they find it difficult
to co exist due to the difference in their culture. In those communities, part of what
made them places of identity and empowerment were elements of ethnic solidarity.

How Did Edgar Allan Poe Impact Society
A Horrible Tale of Murder
Edgar Allan Poe is everywhere today and sometimes we don t even realize that he
influenced so many parts of modern society today. Edger Allan Poe was born in
Boston on January 19th, 1809 (Giordano). At an early age of two Poe s horrors
started and continued to expand as Poe grew older. Poe was born to parents who at
the time were part of an acting company in Boston (Poetry foundation ). By three
both Poe s parents had died and he was living with a family friend the Allan family
who never legally adopted him. He lived a good life in his younger years Poe
attended the most prestigious schools and college too. However, Poe was later
slapped in the face when he ran out of money in college and his foster father would
not help pay for it. He later decided to enlist in the army and publish his first set of
poems. Edgar Allan Poe s first and second set of poems did not receive the attention
he craved and thought he deserved. Poe s life was a series of very unfortunate
events and he did not receive much recognition for his works during his lifetime.
Poe wrote many tales of horror and murder mystery and other genres. Each new
genera Poe wrote about sprouted into a whole new field of writing that is still
extremely popular today. Edger Allen Poe has a tremendous influence on our society

Football And Football
I do not think football has become an essential lens for American history, culture, or
society. I do not think football has been around, and popular that long for it to have
a tremendous impact, however I do think that it did have a big impact not an
essential one. An abundant amount recent history was affected football, and football
has affected it. This is especially true in recent history I will do my best to explain
below.
When we look at American history we see who won the battles, and what sides won
wars, and see all of the big things, but the small things we do not see. Sports or
football in this case helps us see just that. Football helped us see the culture of people
the way people interacted with people, and see why they did what they did it gives
us their rationale in situations throughout American history. Football also allowed
us to overcome obstacles we might not have overcome as quickly such as high
tensions in race relations in the 1960 s. Football made integration in schools in the
long run better by the relationships players, and coaches had to develop in order to
succeed, and after they forged these forced relationships they became real friends,
like in Remember the titans with Gary, and Julius. Football also helps us see the past
from other people s perspective. My Grandpa was a head coach for a long time he is
now retired, but he was a head coach during the late 60 s early 70 s and he told me a
story of how they had one African American player on their
Teaching Methods Of Teaching And Learning Essay
Pedagogy is the term which is used to describe different practices of teaching and
learning. Teaching Australia (2008) defined pedagogy as the art and science of
educating children, the strategies for using teacher professional knowledge, skills and
abilities in order to foster good learning outcomes (p.3). Teaching and learning is a
two way process. Teachers choose the effective instruction modes to disseminate
knowledge. Students adapt to different learning styles and use different learning
strategies to help them process the information. When teachers receive evaluations
and feedbacks from students, they revise, reconstruct and re enact their teaching
mode in order to meet students needs. Teaching refers to different teaching
approaches such as lecturing, practice drills, directed questioning, discussion,
constructivism and problem solving. Marsh, Clarke and Pittaway (2015) mentioned
that effective teachers are capable to use a wide range of instructional modes in
teaching that reflects their flexibility in their teaching. Learning refers to the
strategies that children used to assist their study and digest the new knowledge.
Strategies to help learning are chunking, story grammar training, self questioning,
summarization, mnemonic images and concept mapping. These methods are useful
for the process of retention, which means the ways by which knowledge is retained
in our memory for later retrieval (Mclnerney, 2015a). The first section of the essay
will describe my
The Biblical Basis For Business Enterprise
Introduction
The Christian business person is a shepherd ushering in the kingdom of God in a
fallen world. The practice of the becoming more like Jesus will grow in results of
taking risks, managing finance and time wisely, acquiring new habits and
understanding. The Christian business person is redefining success, which is much
more than material gain, but in a relationship and whole partnership with Jesus.
Business shepherds are called by God in various duties and stewardship within His
Kingdom, giving them differing talents and abilities. The stewardship of the
shepherd s roles and talents determine success in the eyes of God. Success is the
dominion in one s sphere through obedience to God s will. Obedience to God s will
flows out of our relationship with Jesus, and in that relationship, obedience is not a
daunting task, on the contrary, it is a complete willingness to glorify God.
The Biblical Basis for Business Enterprise
People are created in the image of God and by design all people belong to God.
The people who have chosen to accept God s promise belong to God forever. Psalm
twenty four is a praise to God, The earth is the Lord s and everything in it .
Everything belongs to God, our life, materials, business, relationships, absolutely
everything. God cares deeply about our wealth and health. However, the sin that
corrupts our bodies and minds, and there is no guarantee that the Christian business
person will prosper. The core of true life is in
Separation Of Powers
To the People of the State New York: To what extent would we have to go to be
able to properly lay the divisions of power in the government and implement the
separation of powers as written in the Constitution? We must analyze the structure of
government to find a means of keeping departments in check. So we can develop
this theory, some observations will be noted in order to shape a clearer idea on the
structure of government. For a strong substructure to be established for the separate
powers of government, each branch must have a different purpose so that members
of each department would not be sharing control over the same appointments. If this
rule were strictly enforced, then every branch judicial, executive, and legislative
would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best control is undoubtedly for the government to depend on the will of the
people For the private interests of every person to be held higher than public rights
it is necessary to arrange distribute power accordingly so that they may check each
other and balance out. Dividing power between each branch equally is impossible.
The legislative branch tends to be the most dominant. To solve this is for the
legislature to be divided into two different branches as stated in the Constitution:
Congress is split into The House of Representatives and the Senate. This is
necessary to ensure security against the possibility of legislative dictatorship. If
these principles are followed accordingly and applied as a standard for both State
and federal constitution it is known that the general government is closer for
passing the ability of self defense for each branch than the State government. There
are also two things to make note of that are befitting to the federal system. First,
America is a not a single republic where the power of the people is given to a single
structure of government. Therefore, more security is needed for the public rights to
not be violated. Each government would restrain itself and each other. Second, there
are two ways to defend oneself against the evil of a majority faction: either by having
citizens emerging with their own opinions
My Favorite Sports
I was born in Germany where Football (soccer) is one of the most important things.
I have played soccer since I was four years old and it has been my favorite sport. I
have played for many teams including: the Chase City Ymca, Southern Storm,
Mecklenburg United, and currently play for Danville Soccer Club. In all of my
years of playing my greatest weakness is myself and my confidence in my skill. I
never thought I would ever want to leave the gameuntil I made the High School
soccer team. One of my favorite soccer players is Pele a phenomenal superstar
from Brazil. Pele spent his childhood and life by one rule to always love the game
no matter the score or the day and to always show respect to the opponent, your
team, and referees. This made him not only a great player but a great ambassador for
the world of soccer.
My first year on the team went fairly well I scored two goals and got a fairish
amount of playing time and the coach was great...when we were winning. We lost
out to Nottaway in the Quarter final of the James River District. The coach might
have thought we won with the way I acted because I felt like the luckiest person in
the world because I got to play the full game. The rest of the team was sad, frustrated,
and one or two even cried due to our 3 0 loss to the team we beat 4 0 earlier in the
season. Instead of consoling us or saying we tried our best the coach yelled and said
we played terrible, which we did but we did not need someone to tell us that. That was

  • 2. The Things They Carried Essay After the devastation that World War II left the world, no one wanted to go into another war. Families lost their members, countries lost their dignity, and some soldiers were left with the moments of war forever in their minds. However, the concern that communism was going to spread made Vietnam become the longest war in American History. During this time a lot of young people were anti war, they were sick of losing people they loved to violence. Though the war still needed to be fought so men became soldiers freely or because they were drafted. In the story Things They Carried , soldiers are faced head on with the Vietnam War. Tim O Brien shows how the men carry the weight of physical objects through out the war. The men bog themselves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every soldier hears the horror stories of war but never really understands till they are in war themselves. In the short story, The Things They Carried all the soldiers are constantly dreading every second. For example it is not good news when a high command orders the soldiers to search the tunnel before having to blow them up. No one knows what is going to be in the tunnels and for the lucky ones that do not have to search the tunnels still feel the panic. The soldiers kneel down facing away from the tunnel. The fear causes them to think of anything that is down there such as, cobwebs and ghosts (O Brien 103). However, the soldier that is not so fortunate crawls down into the hole shoving him self deeper into the ground. Worry and concern drips over him as he starts to think what if the flashlight dies, or if the rats have rabies, or what if a he gets stuck in the tunnel can the other soldiers rescue him? Fear can get the best of soldier and cause them not to be the best soldier they can be. Apprehension can weigh a soldier down mentally and physically. It can cause a soldier worry about things such ghosts while their main concern should be on their objective. At night the soldiers place claymores, which are bombs set on the ground to go off on an intruder then they crawl into their holes, lie down and spend the whole night waiting (O Brien 103). It was impossible for the soldiers to get rest because they constantly
  • 3. Black Humor in Catch-22 Black Humor in Catch 22 Joseph Heller uses black humor to express normally emotional scenarios in humorous ways in his writing. One of the clearest examples of Joseph Heller using black humor is in his novel, Catch 22. The story follows Yossarian, a man enlisted in the United States Air Force during World War II, and his frightening experiences while in service. Yossarianwitnesses many scenes throughout the story which most people would find extremely emotional or graphic during the war (or even today), but Joseph Hellermanages to make these scenes humorous so that people could temporarily forget about the seriousness of the situation and that some of the scenes were things that were actually happening during World War ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The entire situation is quite sad, but the way Kid Sampson s death is described in the story is very humorous but the black humor was used because Joseph Heller believed authority wasn t as smart as most people thought it was and he wanted to get this message to the reader. Hungry Joe, another minor character in the story, is affected by the war in a similar way that Captain Flume was; it causes him to act abnormal while sleeping. Hungry Joe had fled the most missions out of everyone else which would explain why he is affected majorly from all of the things he witnessed in combat. He is described to be terrified of death (like Yossarian) and he frequently wakes up in the middle of the night screaming because of dreams he has. One of the other character s cats also sleeps on Hungry Joe s face in the night which adds to the hilarity of the situation. Although this is funny because of the cat and Hungry Joe s screaming waking up everybody, it is a sad situation which Heller mad into black humor to show, again, the way soldiers were affected by the war and the negative impacts it had on them. Yossarian is constantly afraid of death throughout the story and it is clear that the cause of this fear is derived from the numerous amount of missions Colonel Cathcart puts him through and because of his other experiences in the Air Force. There is a scene in which Yossarian says he keeps a list in his head of all

Christopher Columbus attempt to find a quick route to Asia resulted in a failure of epic proportions: Columbus failed to find Asia and, instead, began one of the longest and most prolific examples of cultural repression in history. Columbus, along with those who followed him to the New World brought with them a fundamental belief in cultural superiority that defined the European invasion and infestation. These attitudes had a significant and long term impact on the native cultures and provided the Europeans with justification for the position of power of which they grabbed hold. (Faragher 39 40) With France engaging the financial benefits of the northern section of the New World and Spanish and Portuguese trading in the central and southern sections, England saw fit to join the fray. In a state paper written for the queen, the scholar Richard Hakluyt summarized the advantages that would come from the colonies: they would provide bases from which to raid the Spanish in the Caribbean, commercial outposts for the Indian market and English goods, and plantations for growing tropical products, freeing the nation from a reliance on the long distance trade with

Binary codes which are representations of numerical numbers were used to process images, sounds, text and graphic. In digital computers, there are ones and zeros that represents the electrical on and off states and endless combinations of those to process any input. Moving on, the development of computer can be assessed from two perspectives. One perspective would be the invention of hardware components over time like vacuum tubes, transistors, integrated circuits and microprocessors that can be referred to as a generation of change. In the other hand, another perspective would be how user friendly were the computers over a period of time. In the 1950s the computers were almost impossible to use except by very patient geniuses. Next in the 1960s and 1970s, it could only be programmable by highly trained people. Lastly, from the 1980s till present time the computers are now smaller cheaper and useable by just about anyone. From the hardware development perspective, the first generation of computer was the Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer (ENIAC). These first electronic computers used vacuum tubes. They were huge and complex,
  • 6. Examples Of Locus Of Control Locus of Control is considered to be an important aspect of personality. The concept was developed originally Julian Rotter in the 1950s (Rotter, 1966). Locus of Control refers to an individual s perception about the underlying main causes of events in his /her life. The full name Rotter gave the construct was Locus of Control of Reinforcement. In giving it this name, Rotter was bridging behavioural and cognitive psychology. Rotter s view was that behaviour was largely guided by reinforcements (rewards and punishments) and that through contingencies such as rewards and punishments, individuals come to hold beliefs about what causes their actions. These beliefs, in turn, guide what kinds of attitudes and behaviours people adopt.Locus of control is conceptualised as referring to a unidimensional continuum, ranging from external to internal: External Locus of Control Individual believes that his/her behaviour is guided by fate, luck, or other external circumstances Internal Locus of Control Individual believes that his/her behaviour is guided by his/her personal decisions and efforts. • 10. Racism And Slavery During The 19th Century Racism is not just restricted to slavery and blacks, racism can be applied to anyone, and in 19th century England this was a huge problem. The 19th century was a trying time for those who were concerned with the abolition of slavery, those who were opposed to it were greatly concerned about losing their wealth or just concerned with the principle of a lower race being free. However those who were opposed to slaverywere sick of seeing other humans being treated so poorly and saw it as inhuman. This is a crucial point in history, in the early 19th century no one knew how this was going to end, if slavery would be abolished or not. With this in mind the abolition of slavery was on the center stage in England from 1800 to 1833, this would be an issue until slavery was abolished. Not everyone would be happy with this going away, and resistance started to pile up but in the end it was a futile slavery was abolished in 1833. This was met with a lot of resistance in the outer colonies of the British Empire, these colonies wanted to keep their slaves so that they always had access to free labor. Slaves that heard about the abolition of slavery in these colonies tended to rise up against their owners, this usually ended in bloodshed for the colonies. However once this ended former slaves still had trouble getting jobs and finding work, with competition from other cultures for work was high so this didn t help their cause. What it boiled down to in the end was racism, this

  • 12. How Governments Spend Tax Dollars SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICTS Citizens expect government to provide high quality, low cost services through efficient use of public tax dollars. However, local governments with tight budgets and a multitude of needs vying for public funds often struggle to improve or even maintain services within their boundaries. Budget shortfalls may result in non essential programs like parks, libraries and community colleges becoming severely underfunded or defunct, despite strong objections by citizens. County and city governments throughout the United States have increasingly responded to these difficulties by implementing special taxing districts (Turk, 2004). Special taxing districts are separate government entities, which typically administer a single service within a defined geographical boundary. Some districts provide a new service, while others acquire responsibilities once held by general purpose governments. The services they provide are broad, ranging from essential functions like fire protection, highways, and hospitals, to more obscure tasks of mosquito abatement and upkeep of cemeteries (U.S. Census Bureau, 2012). Since 1952, special taxing districts in the United States have increased over 200%, with 38,266 special districts comprising 40% of local government in 2012. During the same time, municipalities have increased slightly, while the number of townships and school districts both decline (U.S. Census Bureau, 2012). • 13. Literary Devices In Medea When Love Backfires Euripides Medea is a tragic play that takes place in Corinth, Greece. It was first produced in 431 BC. It was during this time that Corinth and Athens were rivals, fighting to have the upper hand. In fact, Corinth and Sparta teamed together against Athens during the Peloponnesian War in 431 BC. Like most literature, Euripides Medea incorporates the period in which it was written along with a timeless theme. Euripdes uses the literary devices of setting, irony, and symbolism to depict the theme of identity in relation to marriage. The play Medea uses the setting to help the audience better understand the meaning of the text. What is said depends greatly on who is around and where the character(s) are. For example, when Medea is by herself or with the chorus, she is speaking freely of her evil plans, however, when she was in the presences of Creon or Jason, she lied to their faces. The audience knows what her true thoughts and feelings are due to the setting. They are not tricked into thinking she has changed her mind but instead, they know when she is lying based on who she is around. After Medea devised a plan, she sent for Jason and pleades to him, Jason, I ask you to forgive me for the things I said before. You re used to putting up with my temper, since so many acts of love have passed between us... (Medea, 870). This quote is a perfect example of how the setting changes the meaning of the words. This helps portray the overall them of identity. Medea is now full of rage and anger due to her husband leaving her for another woman. She has lost her sense of identity which was found in her husband. She is a refugee in Corinth and has no friends or family. She feels completely alone with nowhere else to turn but to anger and rage. The literary device of irony is strategically used throughout the entire play. The irony within the text works in Medea because the audience understands Medea s thoughts and plans while the characters within the play do not. For instance, Jason says, I will not carry on this quarrel any longer. But if you want to take me up on my offer of money for the children or your own exile say so, I am ready to be generous to you... (Medea, 610). What Jason does not

The animal that is seen today is at the tip of the tree is the modern animal. However, from the fossil record, approximately 545 million years ago, diversification explosives occur leading to a significant number of multi celled complex organisms. A large number of animal groups appear suddenly, and the majority of them are still seen today and are called Phylum that is involved in the branches of the evolutionary tree ( Ogishima, et al., 2015).Because of natural selection, some animals that lack traits that are environmentally favorable are extinct and only can be traced back with the fossil record. Before Cambrian explosion, there is only unicellular organisms or simplest form of organism present, but due to change in environment factor, it has led to the appearance of a multicellular organism and exoskeleton body formed because of natural selection. Due to the shortage of oxygen available in the earth, an animal does not get sufficient oxygen for metabolic functions thus the increase in animal size is inhibited. After Cambrian explosion, water and concentration of oxygen slowly accumulated, leading to the current broad and complex animal. During Cambrian explosion the continental shelf increased, environmental diversity expanded and shallow sea produced. This phenomenon occur due to the breaking of super continental of Gondwana into smaller land masses that cause variation between animals and enable the animal to specialize. Extant species undergo a various level of evolution over time. Some species have undergone a lot of evolution however others have not evolved. For example, the giraffe has had a significant development (Doolittle, et al., 2012).The ancestor of the giraffe has a short neck. Several animals, as well as giraffe, feed on lower vegetation. With time the lower vegetation became less. With the food shortage, animals had to compete among themselves to survive, hence giraffe began to

  • 20. The Effect Of Neural Reflexes On The Gastrointestinal... ows neural reflexes to occur solely in the gastrointestinal tract, independent of the brain and spinal cord (Widmaier et al. 2014). Within the tubular gastrointestinal tract, the ENS is formed by various interconnected networks, called plexuses, of enteric neurons, glial cells, and axons (Widmaier et al. 2014). The majority of these nerve cells are found within two different arrangements of ganglia (Fig. 1): the myenteric (Auerbach s) plexus and the submucosal (Meissner s) plexus (Furness 2006; Guyton and Hall 2006). The nerve cells axons either synapse with additional neurons in the plexus or innervate the smooth muscle of digestive organs (Furness 2006). Neural activity in one plexus can affect activity in the other since some axons in one plexus synapse with neurons in the other (Fig. 1) (Widmaier et al. 2014). Extrinsic nerve fibers from the parasympathetic and sympathetic systems can also synapse with neurons in each of the two plexuses (Fig. 1) (Guyton and Hall 2006). Though the ENS can function without these nerve pathways, the subsystems of the ANS can influence gastrointestinal activity (Guyton and Hall 2006; Widmaier et al. 2014). An example would include either inhibiting or enhancing the GI tract s motility and secretory activity through the sympathetic and parasympathetic fibers (Widmaier et al. 2014). A real estate agent needs to be willing to go the extra mile and step out of their comfort zone in order to make their business grow. During my time at Keller Williams, I was able to get a glimpse of what being a real estate agent is really like. It is not just all about going out and showing houses, there is a whole process that leads up to actually having clients to go show properties to. One of my first assignments was to read The Millionaire Real Estate Agent by Gary Keller, who is the co founder of Keller Williams Realty. One of the main concepts in the book that is emphasized at this office is the concept of the three l s of the millionaire real estate agent. The three l s are leads, listings, and leverage. By concentrating on leads, listings, and leverage, you are focusing on the key activities that will yield the best return for your business. The first of the three l s stands for lead generation. To have a successful business, you must have client leads. Perspective buyers and sellers are the most important part of a sales career. Some agents tend to miss how important this part of the business is and end up spending their time on other less financially awarding activities. To be perfectly clear, no leads means no sales, which means no income. The agents at Keller Williams dedicate a lot of time to lead generation and they do it in a variety of ways. One of the most popular ways to lead generate is going door knocking around popular neighborhoods asking owners if they have considered moving and listing their house. Doing this may get agents both selling and buying

It delivers an idea that the life with a disability is not worth living. In the movie Finding Dory, there are two characters with disabilities. Becky is an intelligent bird and helps others a lot. She flies Marlin and Nemo everywhere; she helps to carry them by putting them in a bucket with water and then carries the bucket and shouts out to Gerald independently without any help. There is an another character in this movie that is with disability. Gerald is a sea lion; he doesn t talk and is viewed as disabled with bulging eyes, a unibrow, and dopey smile. In these examples, people with disabilities are all viewed as inferior to non disabled peers. In addition, Will, Becky, and Gerald all show that the two movies deliver an idea that the life of people with disabilities is boring and they do not worth living. However, in these two movies, characters with disabilities live well. In Me Before You, Will enjoyed his life with Louisa, and it shows that people with disabilities can find someone they love. In Find Dory, although Becky has mental disorder and can only speak with noises instead of clear words, she is smart and uses her intelligence to help Nemo. In addition, in these to movies, they deliver the idea that people with disabilities are all viewed as inferior to non disabled peers through others characters

He now compares the importance of ancient wisdom and austere control with decadence, contemplating that these benefits stood superior to what he currently possess. Furthermore, judging by the tone of the first quatrain, he seems nearly irritated that he s given up these strengths for the way he lives now. This illustrates that his passion for self indulgences has eliminated a plethora of possibilities to him, that will sooner or later remain inaccessible. Unfortunately, the poet is now beginning to see the repercussions of choosing decadence. Despite the abundance of this yearned way of living, he nearly gets the last taste of it, as he explains in the last couplet: with a little rod, I did but touch the honey of romance, and must I loose a soul s inheritance? An abundant amount recent history was affected football, and football has affected it. This is especially true in recent history I will do my best to explain below. When we look at American history we see who won the battles, and what sides won wars, and see all of the big things, but the small things we do not see. Teaching Australia (2008) defined pedagogy as the art and science of educating children, the strategies for using teacher professional knowledge, skills and abilities in order to foster good learning outcomes (p.3). Teaching and learning is a two way process. Teachers choose the effective instruction modes to disseminate knowledge. Students adapt to different learning styles and use different learning strategies to help them process the information. When teachers receive evaluations and feedbacks from students, they revise, reconstruct and re enact their teaching mode in order to meet students needs. Teaching refers to different teaching approaches such as lecturing, practice drills, directed questioning, discussion, constructivism and problem solving. Marsh, Clarke and Pittaway (2015) mentioned that effective teachers are capable to use a wide range of instructional modes in teaching that reflects their flexibility in their teaching. Learning refers to the strategies that children used to assist their study and digest the new knowledge. Strategies to help learning are chunking, story grammar training, self questioning, summarization, mnemonic images and concept mapping. These methods are useful for the process of retention, which means the ways by which knowledge is retained in our memory for later retrieval (Mclnerney, 2015a). Separation Of Powers To the People of the State New York: To what extent would we have to go to be able to properly lay the divisions of power in the government and implement the separation of powers as written in the Constitution? We must analyze the structure of government to find a means of keeping departments in check. So we can develop this theory, some observations will be noted in order to shape a clearer idea on the structure of government. For a strong substructure to be established for the separate powers of government, each branch must have a different purpose so that members of each department would not be sharing control over the same appointments. The best control is undoubtedly for the government to depend on the will of the people For the private interests of every person to be held higher than public rights it is necessary to arrange distribute power accordingly so that they may check each other and balance out. Dividing power between each branch equally is impossible. The legislative branch tends to be the most dominant. To solve this is for the legislature to be divided into two different branches as stated in the Constitution: Congress is split into The House of Representatives and the Senate. This is necessary to ensure security against the possibility of legislative dictatorship. If these principles are followed accordingly and applied as a standard for both State and federal constitution it is known that the general government is closer for passing the ability of self defense for each branch than the State government. There are also two things to make note of that are befitting to the federal system. First, America is a not a single republic where the power of the people is given to a single structure of government. Therefore, more security is needed for the public rights to not be violated. Each government would restrain itself and each other. Second, there are two ways to defend oneself against the evil of a majority faction: either by having citizens emerging with their own opinions

I have played for many teams including: the Chase City Ymca, Southern Storm, Mecklenburg United, and currently play for Danville Soccer Club. In all of my years of playing my greatest weakness is myself and my confidence in my skill. I never thought I would ever want to leave the gameuntil I made the High School soccer team. One of my favorite soccer players is Pele a phenomenal superstar from Brazil. Pele spent his childhood and life by one rule to always love the game no matter the score or the day and to always show respect to the opponent, your team, and referees. We lost out to Nottaway in the Quarter final of the James River District. The rest of the team was sad, frustrated, and one or two even cried due to our 3 0 loss to the team we beat 4 0 earlier in the season.
