My Favorite Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic "My Favorite Essay" may seem deceptively simple at first glance,
but the inherent challenge lies in the paradoxical nature of the task. The endeavor demands a
delicate balance between self-reflection and objectivity, as one must navigate the fine line
between personal preferences and universal appeal.
To begin with, the very subject matter seems to set a trap for the writer, beckoning them into the
labyrinth of subjectivity. Choosing a favorite essay becomes an exercise in introspection, forcing
the writer to confront their own biases, tastes, and literary inclinations. The process involves
sifting through a myriad of personal experiences and intellectual encounters to pinpoint that one
piece of writing that stands out above the rest.
However, the task doesn't end with the selection of a favorite essay; the challenge intensifies as
the writer endeavors to articulate the reasons behind their choice. Expressing personal sentiments
and translating the emotional impact of a particular essay into words is an intricate dance that
requires finesse. The danger here lies in the potential for the essay to devolve into a mere listing
of likes and dislikes, lacking the depth and substance necessary for a compelling piece of writing.
Furthermore, attempting to make the essay universally relatable adds an additional layer of
complexity. The writer must strike a delicate balance between the personal and the communal,
ensuring that the chosen essay resonates not only with them but also with a broader audience.
This requires a nuanced approach, as the writer must weave a narrative that bridges the gap
between the individual and the collective.
In the pursuit of creating an essay that captures the essence of a favorite piece of writing, one
must grapple with the challenge of finding the right words to convey emotions, the appropriate
anecdotes to illustrate points, and the delicate interplay of language to engage the reader. The
task demands a deep understanding of the chosen essay, as well as a keen awareness of the
nuances of language and rhetoric.
In conclusion, the seemingly straightforward task of writing an essay on the topic "My Favorite
Essay" reveals itself as a multifaceted challenge that requires introspection, objectivity, and a
mastery of language. It is a journey that forces the writer to navigate the intricate terrain between
personal subjectivity and universal appeal. Similar writing challenges can be daunting, but fear
not – assistance is available. For those seeking help in crafting essays or exploring diverse

Examples Of Dehumanization In Kurt Vonnegut
Showing concern for the fellow being is the need of the hour which will give
comfort and solace to the inhabitants of the world. Humanity thrives well if the
people of its society live with concern. Everybody expects care and warmth from the
society forgetting the fact the little drops from every individual will make a mighty
ocean. It is the apt time to think about what is wrong with the attitude of mankind to
check what will harm the present as well as future generations. The writers who write
science fiction try to create awareness and at the same time give an alarm to the
society. Kurt Vonneguttries his level best in imprinting the evils of scientific
development and warns what is to be done to improve the life of mankind better.

Many countries have been dehumanized the fellow human beings for language. If one
person moves to America, he should know English as a language then only he would
be eligible for survival. Other problem is that Americans do not treat them as human
beings unless they know their language forgetting the fact that America was also once
colonized by the British.
In Breakfast of Champions, Kurt Vonnegut has implied many themes. His themes
include how humans are acting as machines, emotional state of the American citizens,
ideas of disease that haunt mankind, the destruction of the planet by indifferent
attitude to his fellow beings, communism, advertising, overpopulation, racism, and at
last how machines enslave the world. Mostly Vonnegut novels deal with the most
profound issues of human existence in a style that is accessible to
Violence During The Trojan War
The Trojan War is one of the most important events in Greek Mythology. The
Trojan War had so much violence throughout, that there were three types of
violence. Physical violence is the fighting part of the war. Verbal violence is when
the Greeks and Trojans would hurt each other with words not weapons. Sexual
violence was the raping of any women who were from Troy or the Greeks. In this
analysis, you will learn the three types of violence in the Trojan War.
Physical violence was the main type of violence that occurred throughout the
grueling Trojan War. In Mythology it says, For nine years victory wavered, now to
this side, now to that. Neither was ever able to gain any decided advantage. Each
and every day, for nine years there was a bloody, gory battle that took place. A lot of
the noblest fighters in Greek Mythology died in this war such as; Achilles, Ajax,
Hector, and Paris. Obviously, Physical violence was what occurred throughout the
bloody Trojan War.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Mythology it says Athena sweeping down to the battlefield, persuaded the
foolish heart of Panduras, a Trojan, to break the truce and shoot an arrow at
Menelaus. If Athena had not tricked Panduras into shooting an arrow at Menelaus,
Troy might still be standing here to this present day. Also, when The Judgement of
Paris occurred, if Aphrodite had not portrayed her story to Paris well enough to get
the golden apple, most likely the Trojan War would ve never happened. Truly, Verbal
violence can be just as effective as Physical
Maagdalena And Mary Magdalene
This reference to Mary Magdalene is implicitly referencing the individual painting
however, it can also be seen as an explicit reference when you see the physical
painting of Penitent Magdalene. He also addresses her as Magdalene which adds to
the strength of the reference. This reference is a strong biblical reference that can
have a variety of interpretations although it can be argued that Caravaggio loved her
so much because he wishes that he could repent for his sins. He had a troubled life
when he was younger and there were a lot of mistakes that he made when he was
younger that he is not proud of. He is also a presumed homosexual and although
homosexuality was very prominent in nobility and among patrons who took
advantage of Caravaggio, homosexuality was deemed unnatural and therefore must
remain hidden. A significant difference between the historical Mary Magdaleneand
Lena is the difference in their life before repentance and their life after. Mary
Magdalene was a repentant prostitute who was asking for forgiveness for her choice
of lifestyle and her sins. She was claimed to have found a new life in the way of
christ and leave behind a life of luxury and sinin order to cleanse herself in the way of
the savior JesusChrist. Lena s reasoning for repentance is different, she is moving
away from her life of sin and prostitution in order to raise her baby with a wealthy
man and live a life of grandeur. This idea is interesting because it presents the
question of why

Hero of all gods
In Greek mythology there s many different myths , and they all have their own
stories to tell. The hero of one myth is Theseus. Theseus is known for being his hero
like self , and being brave and strong.
Theseus the hero of this myth. Every story ever told about Theseus he s known as a
hero who killed the fire breathing bull. He saved many lives and everyone loved him
because of what he did. He was known as a hero because he would kill many
different creatures and he would save people s lives. He was so strong and powerful
that it would be hard for him to ever lose a fight against any type of creature he s
ever faced.
Ever since Theseus was born his father knew he would be a strong and powerful
person , so his father said when he would get to the right age he would have to lift
up a big rock that under the rock is the father s sword and sandals. When Theseus
did get to the right age his father was right and he did left the rock but his father was
in the island Athens. Soon later Theseus went to the island of Athens but along the
way he went through many situations , he got in battles with creatures , saved many
towns and villages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

glass of wine to the ground and got right up to see his father. They were filled with
joy and happiness but Medea then
Breaking Social Norms Essay
Social norms are actions and behaviors that are recognized as acceptable amongst
society. Personally, I abide to most social norms because it provides me sense of
comfort and belonging. To break a social norm would probably make anyone feel
like an outsider and the need to feel accepted is what most likely drives us to
conform to social norms. In order to test how social norms affect myself and other
around me, I decided to completely step outside of my comfort zone and break an
imperative hygienic social norm; brushing ones teeth.
While brushing your teeth is crucial to one s hygiene, it s also a courtesy to others
and is considered to be a social norm for many reasons. Humans, specifically
Americans, tend to value oral health to the highest degree because our
communication between one and other revolves around the mouth. Not brushing
your teeth can result in bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease. While it may seem
like these complications only affect those who choose not to brush their teeth, it
doesn t. The majority of Americans find it rude, let alone disgusting, when they are
talking to someone who has neglected to clean their teeth and can relate to holding
their breath in attempt to not to smell someone s rancid breath. Many people also find
it uncomfortable when looking at someone s rotten, food filled teeth in conversation.
All in all, neglecting to brush ones teeth can result in a multitude of undesirable
issues that not only affects themselves, but everyone

There are serval reasons why we need law in today s society, for instance: To
regulate society, as the traffic laws exist that enforce people drive in a safe

food we buy is safe to eat; And to enforce rights, since the criminals laws prevent or
deter people from abuses other people.

The US s Constitution was written during the Constitutional Convention and signed

He sat down and allowed himself a short pull from the waterbag. He scanned the
desert, looked up at the sun, which was now sliding down the far quadrant of the

his own fire, which he laid over the ashes the man in black had left. He found the
irony, like the romance of his thirst, bitterly appealing.
He did not use the flint and steel until the remains of the day were only the fugitive

Year s Eve, 2241, and they were meeting up at Mateo s house. When they had all
had something to eat and drink they decided to put the TV on to watch some of the
annual rocket and boulder race. Lim turned the TV on to Star channel. All of a
sudden, there became an urgent news bulletin at the bottom of the TV which said,
DANGER in big red letters. The newsreader looked horrified and bewildered, he
looked like he had seen a ghost. The bulletin said that there was a meteorite coming to
hit planet Earth. When all three boys saw the bulletin they looked at each other with
stunned faces. What was going to happen to planet Earth?
After very little sleep, the next morning Mateo quickly switched on the TV to see
what the update was about the meteorite. When the Star News came up there was a
journalist talking to four scientists about their discovery of the ... meteorite. The
scientists idea ...... was to put a laser beam around Earth. As Zelda and Lim woke
up, Mateo was sitting on the edge of the couch. Zelda nervously asked Mateo what
the news was about the meteorite and Mateo informed him about what was going on.
At 7:00 that night the laser beam was due to be switched on. All three boys went
outside and hopefully gazed at the night sky. All of a sudden, a bright green shine lit
the horizon of the Earth. All three boys let out a sigh of relief. But no sooner had

Acadian Women Summary
Just from looking at the title of the article Acadian Women and French Colonial
society in eighteenth century Louisbourg, we can easily see the topic that Anne
Marie Lane Jonah and Elizabeth Tait would be focussing their discussion on. The
overall summary of the article is the discussion of Acadian Women and their
families having to uproot everything they own and moving to a new French colony
in Isle Royale after the defeat of Port Royal .These families would move from
Mainland Nova Scotiato the City of Louisbourg, Cape Breton Island. Once in their
new home, the Acadians realize that they are in a new society that is unknown to
them. The article continues with a breakdown of the process these Acadian women

The authors begin by examining colonial records which are a type of primary source
that is very credible, in the sense, it is likely a government recorded document at
that time which would have information regarding the transition from mainland
Nova Scotia to what is now Louisbourg . This source, in general, is a good one but
doesn t completely back up the thesis of this article. The second primary source
that is used by Jonah and Tait is an archaeological investigation of Acadian
agricultural households. This is an incredible source that they picked because this
source allows us to understand what the structure of these people s homes would
be like in the 18th century. I m not sure exactly where the writers get this
information for this next source, but I do believe it is a secondary source worth
mentioning. Two historians named Maurice Basque and Josette Brun has
gathered examples of Acadian women who have stepped out in wanting to
participate in the public realm .This would be very credible source because
historians do a lot of research into their topics and often get their work published in
books. The last primary source which I find very interesting and the most credible
out of this article would be the estate inventory of Jeanne Thibodeau article
concludes with. This source not only is a very rare document but is very
interesting in the fact it allows the reader to get a sense of what people in this
decade would of own for clothes as well as any other personal items. All of these
sources are very good and appropriate in the context of this article and its

Albert Camus Philosophy in The Plague Essays
Albert Camus Philosophy in The Plague
To know ourselves diseased is half our cure. Alexander Pope
As the title clearly suggests, the novel The Plague is, indeed, a story of disease. On
the surface, the novel The Plague, may be an accounting of facts detailing the
outbreak of bubonic plague in the town of Oran. But on a deeper level, it is a novel
that reveals awareness and acceptance of the limits of human existence. And it is also
a reminder of our absurd freedom and the choices we make in life, especially when
facing death.
In writing The Plague we are told that Camus sought to convey [...] the feeling of
suffocation from which we all suffered and the atmosphere of threat and exile in
which we lived (Bree, 1964:128). He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rieux speaks of his chronicle as a testimony. The confession takes us back directly to
Camus s main preoccupation: his need to rethink the fundamental problems of life
(Bree, 1964:129).
In The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus considers the one fundamental problem of life to
be the question of suicide; he tells us that one kills oneself because life is not worth
living (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus, p.8). In addition:
Dying voluntarily implies that you have recognized, even instinctively, the ridiculous
character of that habit, the absence of any profound reason for living, the insane
character of that daily agitation, and the uselessness of suffering (Camus, The Myth
of Sisyphus pp. 5 6).
Although few of the characters in The Plague die voluntarily, Camus states in The
Myth that the contrary of suicide, in fact, is the man condemned to death (Camus,
The Myth of Sisyphus, p.55). Interestingly, due to the outbreak of plague in the town
of Oran, the characters in The Plague are quarantined and, in a sense, condemned to
death. In the novel Camus describes, in great detail, the sleepy town and its people
who display the ridiculous characteristics he discusses in the above passage; and as
the novel progresses, Camus gives life to the absurd and to its consequences.
In the first pages of The Plague Rieux tells us the truth is that everyone is bored, and
[everyone] devotes himself to cultivating habits (The Plague, p.5). In The Myth
Camus attempts to
The Manifest Destiny Essay
The Manifest Destiny is the idea of continental expansion by the United States, from
the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans, which naturally occurred out of a deep want and
need to explore and conquer new lands and establish new borders. This idea
contributed to several wars, including the US Mexican War.
Mexico and the United States had its share of territorial issues. With only four more
days of his presidency, on March 1, 1845, President John Tyler signed the Texas
annexation bill. When the United States formally offered annexation to Texas in
1845, Mexico, protested. On December 29, 1845, Texas was formally admitted to
the Union. Mexico refused to accept the loss of Texas, as written in the Treaty of
Velasco that was created after the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
President Polk received word that Mexican forces had ambushed two of General
Taylor s companies along the Rio Grande. On May 11, 1846, President Polk asked
Congress to declare war on Mexico, stating the following: After reiterated menaces,
Mexico has passed the boundary of the United States, has invaded our territory and
shed American blood upon the American Soil. She has proclaimed that hostilities
have commenced, and that the two nations are at war. (1) Two days later, the US
Congress overwhelmingly votes in favor of President James K. Polk s request to
declare war on Mexico.
American military forces took up several major campaigns in the course of the war
resulting in significant battles that occurred throughout the region. American
Brigadier General Stephen Kearney led a small force to seize Santa Fe and the
New Mexico territory, and then marched west to California. There he met up with an
American force and eventually secured the completion of the Bear Flag Revolt;
American settlers declared their independence from Mexico. American General
Taylor fought General Ampudia and his Mexican troops, who surrendered control of
Monterey, which enabled General Taylor to secure another essential city as he
proceeded southward towards central Mexico. Former Mexican President Antonio
Lopez de Santa Anna returned to Mexico from exile and trained a new army of men
to oppose the invaders.

their own life, but in others lives as well. Deepak Chopra once said, Everyone has a

blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and
exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals. All of us, at
one point in our lives, have to make the difficult decision of the goals we want to

in the way media was spread and created a new on demand system for gathering

news spread through television and Internetat an unprecedented speed. The first major
story that was truly born online and propagated by Internet news sources was the
Clinton Lewinsky scandal in 1998 that ultimately lead to President Clinton s

Her story is a compelling example of how dangerous the distance between the
oppressor and oppressed can become when stories spread through the media and the
humanity of the victim is separated from her name. There currently is a vocabulary
for what happened to Monica Lewinsky, something decidedly absent in 1998: slut
shaming or even cyber bullying. The Lewinsky scandal was the first major story to
break at the frontier of the media revolution but stories such as this, while of smaller
magnitude, have become commonplace in our culture. Through the Internet nearly
everyone can become a journalist or news source, sharing through a blog post,
Facebook, or Twitter, and one can access boundless amounts of information, accurate

Stereotypes Of The Rednecks
Many places in the world have multiple groups of people. However, throughout time,
many of these groups have changed, stayed the same, or have divided into multiple
subgroups. These subgroups tend to have their own stereotypes that all tie into one
big group of people. Take the rednecks for example. Rednecks have always been
around, but through time this big group has turned into different small groups.
Although there are many subgroups to the rednecks, the three main ones are the
hillbillies, the folk, and the farmers. The hillbillies are the most stereotyped of the
rednecks. Television depicts the hillbillies as primarily being incestuous, no teeth,
gun shooting, and trashy yard people. Most people in today s time believe that
Diversity In The Workplace. . Diversity In The Workplace
Diversity in the Workplace Diversity in the workplace is imperative even though
some commentators argue that too much diversity can be negative.
Diversity can lead to staff feeling threatened or even annoyed by persons with views
and backgrounds different from their own (Barsoux, Strebel and Manzoni, 2010).
Instead of inclusivity, diversity can end up causing conflicts, as some staff are
reluctant in changing their viewpoints and are less adaptable to change.
The discourse relating to diversity also applies to senior high skilled professionals.

Trying to exclude diverse people from the workforce will essentially exclude them
from society, which is not only regressive and divisive but it would send the
economy into turmoil as a result of how diverse the UK is.
Besides, a lack of diversity will lead to less innovative strategies as different
individuals from different backgrounds wield different experiences and viewpoints. It
is argued that If an organization does not leverage the potent weapon of diversity, it
risks limiting its creative potential and ultimately losing its competitive edge
(Ey.com, 2017).
To ensure that diversity is not undermined in the workplace the Equality Act was
enacted. The Equality Act, prohibits positive discrimination, but it does allow for
positive action. Positive action is when an employer takes steps to help or
encourage certain groups of people with different needs, or who are disadvantaged in
some way, access work of training (citizensadvice.org.uk, 2017). Positive action is
quite beneficial as it enables marginalised groups access to employment, in which
they historically did not have access too.
The Equality Act prohibits direct and indirect discrimination and harassment and
victimisation to individuals with a protected characteristic. The protected
characteristics are age, disability, sex, sexual orientation,

Top Tensioned Risers ( Ttrs ) For Dry Tree Production...
2.1.4 Top tensioned Risers (TTRs)
Top tensioned risers (TTRs) are risers used for dry tree production facilities like
Spars and tension leg platforms (TLPs) as conduits (either for production, drilling,
injection or export) between the floating production units (FPU) and subsea systems.
A top tensioned riser extends substantially vertically from a platform hull to the sea
bottom. The riser includes length adjustment at its upper end and is detachably
connected to an anchor pile at its lower end. (Jordan et al., 2006). TTRs are
tensioned at the top to resist environmental loading. The tensions needed for the
production risers are generally lower than those for the drilling risers (Chakrabarti,
2005).

Von KВґarmВґan observed that the stability of vortex street is integrally linked to its
configuration(Von KВґarmВґan, 1912). His analysis has since been followed by
studies of vortices, in the presence of bluff bodies which causes separation of
flow.(HorvГЎth et al., 2000) Fig. 1. KВґarmВґan Vortex Street (Dyke, 1982. )
When a bluff body is placed in a flowing fluid, the body will cause flow separation
which will result in vortex shedding. (Bearman, 1998).This separation changes the
flow field from steady flow to unsteady flow with an increase of the Reynolds number
. Properties of the wake produced behind a bluff body depend on three main factors,
which when combined into a single relationship known as Reynolds number Re has
an important influence on the characteristics of vortex induced vibration. These
properties include: free stream velocity Uf, geometry of the structure acting as an
obstacle in flow, and kinematic viscosity of the fluid v. For a rigid cylinder, whose
characteristic dimension in the direction of flow is its external diameter D, Reynolds
number Re: 1
Reynolds number enables the comparison of similar systems under different fluid and
flow properties and structure size. This helps during the presentation of results during
Eye Ear I Hear Concert Report
See the Melody, Hear the Beauty Concert review of Eye Ear I Hear
On September 20th, I attended the piano concert called Eye Ear I Hear performed by
Professor Jennifer Blyth at the Rubendall Recital Hall, Weiss Center for the Arts. The
concert was present in a unique way that integrate music and written text are
combined together in order to convey the audience a sense of unconstrained free
association. The concerts mainly consists of two parts the music works with
polyphonic textures created by composers like Bach and Rzewski in the first half,
and those pieces with recent technological developments which represent the modern
American culture in the second half. I have been greatly impressed by Professor
Blyth s concert and would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a lot of jumps in Blyth s fingers and the beginning part drew us a picture
of harmony and peace. I noticed that Blyth stepped on the paddles a lot of times in
order to make some intervals between sections which split the notes up. Through this
technique used on peddle, a delightful and dynamic tone was made and one can
easily feel the sense of optimism and vitality that the music conveyed. As the melody
moves gradually towards a fierce and angry emotion tone, Blyth made big jumps
between left and right hands, bouncing back and forth heavily between different
ranges of the keyboard. With her body slightly inclining towards the piano, she made
some powerful sounds by using the weight of her arms when she dropping her arms
onto the keyboard. This also reminds me of some problems in my own practice.
When playing some chords, I use the strength of fingers instead of the arm s, which
made it harder to extend the volume and restrict the clearness of the notes. In
addition, after the piece reached its climax and getting close to the end, Blyth had her
fingers make some small pinch to make slight emphases on some notes, without
ruining the soft and restful atmosphere in the background, which gave me some
inspiration for my future study on piano performance.
In conclusion, through observing the piano performance of Blyth s concert, I was
greatly inspired and learned some performance skills which are
Depression In William Wordsworth
I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be
suffering from various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is
highly successful and influential in the Romantic Movement, each has
experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment with reality.
However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the
past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile
that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and
hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience
melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression
as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime
joy and inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or
depression, these clients appear to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain
which they believe has the capacity to reveal the infinite powers of the self or the
imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to believe in the
importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also
seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr.
William Wordsworth, often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on
nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead experiences deeper melancholic moments
that he cannot dispel quite so easily. Mr. John
The Importance Of Marine Conservation
Sophie Huggins The role of Marine Protected Areas (MPA s) and why marine
conservation is important for saving the ocean for current and future generations.
From the air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, the need for constant medical
advances, and to the products that keep us warm, safe, and entertained all these
can come from or be transported by the oceans for human society5. As the oceans
cover a large expanse of the earth s surface and are huge ecosystems, our security,
economy and survival all require healthy oceans. Whether we live near the coast or
far from it, whether we consume seafood or not, life depends on the marine
ecosystem. We need to devote more energy into research, monitoring and
enforcement of laws in order to increase scientific knowledge, monitor exploitation,
protect and prevent degradation and damage to species and their habitats. There
are many reasons why the oceans should be conserved and protected. For instance,
at any given moment in time, more than 97% of the world s water resides in
oceans which means that they make up 99% of liveable space on earth6. The
World s oceans provide a sixth of the animal protein that people eat5. More than 8
million tonnes of plastic are dumped into the oceans every year, more than 80
percent of marine plastic litter, comes from land based sources, such as drink bottles
and plastic packaging. The remainder comes from sea based plastics, such as fishing
gear that has been dropped or discarded9. This is not
The Attribute And Function Of The Satguru Essay
Reiterating yet again the salvific attribute and function of the Satguru, the Pir reminds
his addressees that the Satguru has come to the terrestrial plane and has brought with
Him, the secret knowledge of spiritual freedom and adds that through embrace of the
NЕ«r of the Satguru, one attains immortality. The first two lines of this verse, which
are almost similar to the opening two lines of the eleventh verse of this composition,
reaffirm that the Satguru is indeed the custodian of the knowledge of, and holder of
the key to, salvation. This fact resonates with the stipulation in the preamble of the
Ismaili Constitution that Imam s Ta lim lights the murids path to spiritual
enlightenment and vision. Essentially, these two lines encapsulate the theme of the
redemptive attribute and role of the Satguru, discussed in verses eleven, eighteen,
nineteen, twenty three and twenty six of this granth. Apart from serving as a
reminder to the believers to seek emancipation through the Satguru, the Ginans,
through their persistent emphasis on the redemptive function of the Satguru, seek to
highlight the fact that, leading the faithful to spiritual liberation is one of the most
significant roles of the Satguru and may as well be His raison d ГЄtre. Thus, one of
the recurring themes of the Ginans is mukti or salvation, just as the most frequent
entreaty found in Ginans is for deliverance, while one of the commonest appellations
of the Satguru in the Ginans is tāraṇhār, which
Essay James Joyce s Araby and Eveline
James Joyce s Araby and Eveline
In Araby and Eveline Joyce uses religious symbols to show the importance of the
Catholic religion in both of the main characters lives. Both of these stories take
place in Dublin, Ireland, a place that is very strong in its belief in the Catholic
religion. In Araby, the imagery of the infamous Fall is presented to the reader within
the second paragraph to indicate its importance. The themes of religious masses can
be found in Eveline. The concept of the Catholic Ash Wednesday is presented
throughout both Araby and Eveline.
The second paragraph of ?Araby? presents the idea of the Adam and Eve story

In ?Eveline? images of religious masses come up in the story. ?Through the wide
doors of the sheds she caught a glimpse of the black mass of the boat lying in beside
the quay wall, with illumined portholes.? (32/45 47). The theme of religious masses
is written into a very important time of the main character?s life. Eveline is faced
with the decision whether or not to go with Frank to Buenos Aires. If she went,
she would flee the responsibilities of her family and be able to finally live in a land
where she could be carefree. Black mass is the traditional ceremony that witches
will perform to invoke evil spirits and mock the mass of the Catholic Church. Since
the theme of the black mass is used, it hints to the reader that maybe Eveline does
not want to be held down by her religion. By using the words ?black? and ?mass?
together, Joyce not only indicates the importance of Catholicism, but it shows the
idea that Eveline is trying to break free from the constrictive power of the church and
religion.
Finally, the topic of Ash Wednesday is brought up in ?Araby? and ?Eveline.? Ash

Airline Deregulation
Airline Deregulation act of 1978
Aston A Samms Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
Abstract
The United States Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 was a dramatic turning point in
America. It was the first systematic dismantling of a comprehensive system of
government control since the Supreme Court declared the National Recovery Act
unconstitutional in 1935. It was also part of a broader movement that, with varying
degrees of thoroughness, transformed such industries as trucking, railroads, buses,
cable television, stock exchange brokerage, oil and gas, telecommunications, financial
markets, and even local electric and gas utilities. Since the Airline Deregulation Act
of 1978, the airline industry has experienced significant growth, ... Show more

Today the hub and spoke concept is used at most major airports throughout the
United States such as Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas. The new system allows air
travelers two key concepts in air travel. The first, experienced by those that live in
close proximity to the central hub, saw a significant increase in both flights
available and service areas. The second key point is with air travelers that live near
the spoke or regional areas of the routes. Those near the spokes have gained
hundreds of new destinations with the new system. By traveling from the serving
airports to the hubs air travelers are able to reach destinations on servicing or
regional airlines that would not have existed prior to deregulation.
Although there was a deregulation of the airline industry, the one significant
component that did not change was the infrastructure of the airline industry.
Constrained by the limitations of the airports and the air traffic control system,
airlines did not see significant increases in profits despite the large growth and
operations. As the airlines increased the number of flights and structure, the air traffic
control system did not experience the same increase. Because the ATC system was
still controlled and owned by the government, growth was, and continues to be slow.
Each year the Department of Transportation goes to Congress to request more
funding for increases in budgets to pay the salaries of more controllers and to
improve ATC technology. To
Nazi Propaganda During Ww2
During WWII, there was a lot of propaganda that included the German s idea of a
healthy life that was promoted as the best way to live. One photo, from the 1936
Berlin Olympics depicts statues showing the ideal Germany body. Much of the
other propaganda pieces include the Nazi s outlook on smoking cigarettes and
drinking alcohol. Some of these pieces include a drawing of a man being devoured
by a cigarette with the caption He does not devour it (the cigarette) it devours him ,
and another piece showing a woman holding her young child with the caption
Mothers avoid alcohol and nicotine . Magazines and newspapers also sought to
promote the NAZI ideals from quotes that say Brother National Socialist, do you

The Problem Of Nursing Shortage
Financial Solution With the problem of nursing shortage in the health care setting,
this can have a long term effect on the organization budget as a result of reduction in
the quality of care and overall outcome of the patient s health. The number of nursing
staff it takes for the facility to run effectively, should become a priority for the
organization. As the acuity level of the patient s entering the hospital continues to
rise, the number and skills of nursing staff should increase to meet the patient level of
care. Having lower numbers in nursing staff, can result in higher incidences of
hospital acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infection, decubitus and falls with injuries.

As the acuity level of the patient s entering the hospital continues to rise, there is
inadequate nursing staff with the skills and time needed for the patient s as they
entered into the health care setting. The current nursing staff are overworked and
burnt out with performing the necessary duties to care for the patient. The
administrators within the hospital have to come up with a resolution for the current
rate of nursing shortage, especially during the between the months of November and
February. During this time, there are high incidences of the patients being admitted to
the hospital with community acquired pneumonia and influenza. The number skilled
and available nursing staff is less than the vision or expectation of the organization.
As a result of the nursing staff shortage, this results in another identifiable problem
within the organization such as higher incidence of falls incidences of falls on night
shifts and hospital acquired decubitus. This will affect the budget of the organization
because insurance companies will not pay for hospital acquired falls with the result
of an injury and decubitus. According to Mr. J.G. nursing shortage has always been
an issue since he has been employed at Lexington Medical Center. We have to utilize
agency nurses to fill in the needs on the unit. There are incentives
The Pros and Cons of Orthodontics
Braces were not very popular back in the day. The dreadful nickname metal mouth
was often used to tease those who had to show horribly thick, metal wires and
brackets all over their teeth. Then, there was the thought of experiencing a first
kiss with a mouth full of metal. Most patients preferred to take a more natural
route electing to live with a slightly imperfect smile over a metal one. Today,
braces are fashion statements, imagine that! Patients can choose from a variety of
color combinations for a trendy look, or they can choose the more natural kind.
With more manageable materials and a variety of choices, all ages of patients are
wearing braces with pride. While considering the need of braces, there are several

Fixing broken appliances can sometimes be an extra charge and can become costly
very quickly if intervention by a parent or dentist is not taken.
Braces are not cheap. It is not very often that an insurance covers orthodontics and
when they do, sometimes it is for a specific age range of young adults. The average
cost of orthodontic treatment is between $3,000 and $6,000, depending on where
you live and what the treatment plan looks like (S., Lynn. 12 Things You Should
Know Before Getting Braces ). Some dental offices offer a discount for paying
upfront in advance for all your treatment. This may not be the best option
depending on which office is chosen and what their reputation is like. Saving
money is great, but protecting yourself financially is even better. While most
orthodontists are principled and try run a financially legit practice, there are some
occasions where that is not the case. Being on a payment plan is always the best
way to go to protect assets. How long will the patient be in braces? Duration of
treatment depends on the individual s case. The average treatment is two years.
There are methods for moving teeth faster, but before a method is chosen, all the
information should be gathered about what the treatment will entail. For example,
there is one six month method that incorporates fairly painful jaw surgery to
accomplish its goals. Two years in braces may seem like a long time, but it
Ethnocentrism And Ethnocentrism
Looking at the World we live in today there are many different cultures in many
different countries all over the place. Ethnocentrism and Cultural Relativism are two
terms with great disparity that are viewed differently all over the country. As it is
defined, ethnocentrism is the idea of judging another culturewith comparison with one
s own cultural point of view. In other words, it is the thought of being superior to
divergent cultures. On the other side of the spectrum is the expression cultural
relativism, and that is the design that the value and actions of one culture should not
be used to determine the standards of the people inside of a culture. Many
Anthropologists have studied the cultivation of different places all around the world
in the study of perspectives shown throughout their cultural views and ideas. As
shown in The Native s Point of View (Welsch 2014:116). It is very important that
Anthropologists are able to study ethnographic research throughout observations in
fieldwork. They try to work with people and understand their norms and their
everyday lives compared to other cultures and such. Norms are things that may seem
normal in a certain culture. One norm may differ from another and they vary on
which ones matter and those who don t. The concept of ethnocentrism is often
viewed by anthropologists as a two way street. People judge other cultures and the
people being judged are feel compelled to do the same. The Western world for many
centuries had
Relationship Between Mother And Infant

Analysis Of Stairway To Heaven
No matter how many times somebody is asked to give an explanation to what the
song Stairway to Heaven really perseveres, different answers will be given every
time. The song Stairway to Heaven was written by Led Zeppelin in 1971. Throughout
all these years, still everybody has their own interpretation to the song, and they will
respond differently based upon what the true meaning of the song really is. The
reason being is, the song represents many different values throughout it, and it is the
others choice to determine the outlook on it.
In 1980, Led Zeppelin could have had the biggest tour in the history of rock and
roll. Although, this never happened because one of the members, Rob Plant, refused
to be a part of it. He rejected to reunite with the rest of the group because he believed
that no amount of money is worth having to sing Stairway to Heaven. To begin with,
when asked about Rob Plant s interpretation of the song, he responded with I still
interpret the song a different way and I wrote the lyrics. In addition, he believed that
the lyrics took some rough shots. In the beginning of it, he claims that it is meant
towards a woman who strives for money, only to find out the unpleasant way that is
going to be keeping her from reaching her stairway to heaven. Rob Plant had no other
reason for stating what his meaning was towards writing the song, but he did note
that he saw it as a woman getting everything she wanted without giving anything
back. According to an

Music Is An Art That The Tones
Assignment Music is an art that the tones have been arranged accordingly sequence,

a person s emotions, feelings, and thoughts; meanwhile it can also affect a person
feelings and thought. I like brisk and lively songs that make me feel happy and relax,
instead of heavy sad songor strong rhythm hit song because I can easily be
emotional. Among all other songs, Wide Awake sung by an American singer
named Katy Perry is a meaningful song for me. I still remember the first time I
listened to this song was in the evening, and I had just went back from school and
was having a rest in the living room while watching Astro Hitz with my sister. This
song showed up in the television and I cannot move my eyes away from Katy Perry
s musicvideo. It was so touching and powerful for me, I can feel the beat, bass,
pitch, and the lyrics that played around my head. It is an amazing song that I had
ever heard and it touched my heart. I always wanted to live in a world that has no
war, no natural disaster, no pollution, and everyone is so kind and nice. Yet, it was
just a dream for me because the reality shown us that everything in this world may

At approximately four o clock in the morning on September 5, 1972 (six days
before the end of the games), Yossef Gutfreund, a 275 pound wrestling referee,
reacted to the sound of Arab voices behind the door of the apartment where he and
other Israeli athletes were staying. The terrorists had accessed the building unnoticed
as they were dressed in athletic warm ups and carried their weapons in gym bags.
Gutfreund quickly alerted his roommates that something was wrong and proceeded to
push his body against the door in an effort to prevent Arab entrance.
His efforts were successful for only a few moments, however, as the Arabs soon
entered the apartment, immediately taking five Israelis hostage. It was at this time
that Romana, in an effort to save his teammates, took a knife out of the kitchen and
stabbed one of the gunmen. Moments later, he and wrestling coach Moshe

Approximately an hour after the attack began, the terrorists left, having killed two
Israeli team members and capturing nine. Due to the unanticipated chaos and
struggle, the terrorists failed to locate eight other team members in the neighboring

thrown Weinberger s body into the street.

Animals (University Of Minnesota Press 2013), edited by Kelsi Nagy, is a
fascinating collaboration but also scholarly. House Guests, House Pests
(Bloomsbury USA 2015) by Richard Jones focuses mostly on bugs in the United
Kingdom and does not cover the species nor geography of Pandora s Garden. Fred
Pearce s The New Wild (Beacon Press 2015) and Ken Thompson s Where Do
Camels Belong? (Greystone Books 2014) bravely defend invasive species, though
if with the single minded intent to overturn ideas of invasiveness. Gordon Grice s
series of predator profiles, The Red Hour Glass (Delta 1998), The Book of Deadly
Animals (Penguin Books 2011), and The Deadly Kingdom (The Dial Press 2010)
investigate fearsome creatures but ignore almost all of the misfit species in this book
and have a completely different
Research Paper On Gun Ownership
Gun ownership is an inalienable right provided to American citizens by the
Constitution, and this controversial issue is still relevant today. The U.S has about
88.8 guns per 100 people, the highest amount out of any nation in the world. Guns
laws should not restrict ownership; instead, efforts of reducing deaths require
focusing on problems which lead to gunviolence. I believe that no more gun control
laws should be enacted in the U.S because they deny people a sense of security and
infringe upon the right of self defense. Owning a weaponis a critical component of the
Constitution and deters crimebased on the fear of the criminal.
Without guns to protect people in near death events, they would surely pass away
because a weapon wasn t
Occupational Therapy And Participation Essay
Participation is an important piece in the field of occupational therapy. Given that
different factors influence participation and when people have a choice in the
activity, it increases participation, then the more someone actively participates in
occupational therapy, the better their outcome of therapy will be. In her piece,
Participationin the Occupations of Everyday Life, Mary Law focuses on this idea that
participation in meaningful activityis key to effective occupational therapy. I may not
be old and experienced but, I am old enough to be able to relate the information in
this article to my life.
Participation can make someone feel more fulfilled in life and can increase their
self esteem by making them feel more capable in the act of doing (Law, 2002, p.
640). In general, participation in extracurricular activities outside of work or
school increases quality of life for both children and adults. When children
participate in sports or clubs, their risk of smoking, low self esteem and having
difficulty making friends decreases. Adults that volunteer or participate in
recreational activities are proven by research to live longer and have higher
quality of life. (Law, 2002, p. 641) Speaking from experience, as a freshman in
college during my undergrad, all I did was study I didn t attempt to make friends or
participate in any organizations. As one can image, I can t say I was experiencing a
high quality of life because I needed to be engaging in activities with
American Jazz Artist Miles Davis Essay
Kind of Blue. This studio album released by American jazz artist Miles Davis is
heavily regarded as the quintessential and definitive jazz album. Many critics regard
it as jazz s greatest record and one of the best albums of all time. Along with
redefining and revolutionizing jazz, its influence on music has been unprecedented.
The music theory, style, and organization of Kind of Blue has been one of the biggest
influences on several genres since its creation; including but not limited to rock, funk,
fusion, indie, and hip hop. The culture of jazzis extremely unique in music, and
Davis s album changed that culture and changed the culture of several different
genres and music itself. To truly understand the massive legacy and influence
created by Kind of Blue, one would have go back to the beginning of jazz all the
way to modern music. Jazz might just be the most unique genre of music in the
world. Pairing true artistry and creativity with immense technicality and skill creates
music that is simply incomparable. Originating from the African American
communities of New Orleans in the 1910 s, jazz was a fresh new creation heavily
predominated by African Americans. Early forms featured brass bands playing a
ragtime and swing style of music, with improvisation, and unique and syncopated
rhythm and blues. Within music, syncopated means offbeat rhythm. While not
popular at first, this early form of jazz started becoming well liked and by the 1920 s
many artists were
The Heroes From Each Narrative
Both of the heroes from each narrative face a certain goal to accomplish yet
struggle in life at first in their own personal ways. For instance, in Tomorrowland
Casey Newton, playing the role as the main character in the story and also playing
the hero figure faces the challenge of reaching another dimension called
Tomorrowland and also faces living with her father who is struggling with the fact
that he might lose his job. And in the film Meet the RobinsonsLewis the main
character and the films hero as well struggles to find a family that will love and
care for him deeply. He also ponders the reason why his family had abandoned him.
Each hero from both narratives struggle in life in their own personal ways. As stated

I have no future. No one wants me. Mildred That s not true, Lewis! Lewis My own
mother didn t even want me. Mildred Now, stop it. You do not know that. Lewis
Then why d she give me up? Meet the Robinsons. Dir. Stephen J. Anderson. Perf.
Daniel Hansen, Wesley Singerman, and Angela Bassett. Walt Disney Animation
Studios, 2007. DVD. This quote signifies that Lewis struggles in life to find a
family and has no hope that he will ever get adopted. It is clear that both heroes
share the similarity of showing struggle in life and foreshadow the idea of going on a
mission.
Though both Lewis and Cassey face hardships in life they are determined to
resolve their problems by taking on a mission. In Meet the Robinsons Lewis gets
the idea that if his mother did not want him as an infant than she would surely want
him now as he has matured. As stated from the film Mildred She may not have
been able to take care of you. Did you ever think of that? I am sure that she was
only thinking about what was best for you. Lewis I never thought of it that way.
Mildred Maybe she wanted to keep you, but she had no choice. Lewis You re right.
My real mom is the only person who s ever wanted me. Mildred Wait. I said maybe.
Lewis And if she wanted me then, she ll want me now. Mildred What are you talking
about? Lewis I have to find her, Mildred, and when I do, she ll take me back, and we
ll be a family again! Mildred Whoa,
Characteristics Of The Film Moan The Epic Princess
Moana: The Epic Princess
Odysseus, Beowulf, Achilles, or maybe Gilgamesh all come to mind as archaic
examples, but they are not the only works fit the criteria of an epic. Many modern
day storylines such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or Moana are
based on the ideas of an epic legend. The phrase epic denotes a type of long,
narrative poem, one that celebrates a heroic achievement and/or holds themes of
cultural significance. There are six defining characteristics of an epic: an outstanding
hero, a large or vast setting, an action requiring superhuman courage, supernatural
forces, a versed writing style, and an omniscient and objective author. These
legends are generally mythologized histories often of oral origin that are loosely
based on the region s history. In the case of Moana, the story takes place in Ancient
Polynesia where a terrible curse of the Demigod, Maui, reaches Moana s island,
Motunui; she goes on a quest to answer the ocean s call to seek out Maui and make
things right. Moana s journey, in the form of an epic, involves her taking on a
daring mission to save her people, and though she faces many tests along the way,
with supernatural aid and other assists she successfully conquers this task. The film
Moana, released in 2016, outlines all of the characteristics to qualify as an epic
feature. As with all works of this style, Moana, the seemingly ordinary girl, is called
from a normal life to head out on a daunting quest with many trials,
The Wedding Ceremony By The Sarah Siddons Awards
Banquet
The movie began with the 40th ceremony, called the Sarah Siddons awards
banquet. One of the main characters, and the individual (patient) who the movie
was titled after, Eve Harrington, was receiving an important award for acting. The
movie was a flashback from that point, to the events, which had transpired, leading
up to Eve positioning herself to launch her acting career. Eve essentially stalked her
idol Margo Channing, by attending all of her performances, and eventually
convincing Margo s best friend Karen, to introduce them to each other. Eve was
very manipulative and upon meeting Margo she continually lied, played an
innocent role, and was as helpful as she could possible be. Eve grew closer to Margo
and became somewhat of a second... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
History of clients illness (past present) The patient Eve was noted to be a
compulsive liar, and it was revealed by Addison that she had lied about her entire
life story, since being let into Margo s inner circle. She claimed to have grown up
on a farm in Wisconsin, and claimed that she quit school, left home, and went to
Milwaukee where she got a job at a brewery. As part of her evaluation, the series of
event, which lead up to her, leaving home at such an early age (which is apparently
true). She had presumably been conducting herself in this manipulative fashion
since her teenage years, because she was paid to leave her brewery job, by the
wife of her boss. The logical presumption is that she was manipulating the husband
to achieve some goal, and the wife found out about it, disapproved so severely that
she wanted Eve to move out of town. Eve also lied about her non existent husband
Eddie , and lied about him dying in the war . She lied about following Margo since
first seeing her at the Schubert theater in San Francisco, because there is no Schubert
theater in San Francisco. This was verified by Addison when he confronted her. From
the night she manipulated Karen into introducing her to Margo, she made great first
impressions on everyone. She would individually approach the other characters and
utilize them to the best of her ability, without regards to
Earl Warren Leadership Style
Earl Warren Earl Warren was a great man in the history of the United States. Without
his many great contributions, things such our education system and many judicial
processes would not be in place. A native Californian, he impacted his home state with
many public programs and by modernising the existing system. As a supreme court
justice, his decisions and leadershipinfluenced this nation. While Earl Warren may
not be perfect, he worked throughout his career to serve his country and make a better
future for its citizens.
Earl Warren was born on March 19, 1891 in Los Angeles California. His parents
were Mathias and Crystal Warren. His father, Mathias, worked on the railroad in Los
Angeles. However, the family was forced to relocate ... Show more content on

It is for his role in this office that Warren forged much of his reputation. Although
he was a Republican his entire life, the Warren Court was well known for being
liberal and judicially active court. Some of the decisions that produced by it were
revolutionary including Brown v. Board of Education, Mapp v. Ohio, and Miranda v.
Arizona. These cases have had a lasting impact that can be felt even today. The
leadership of Warren in these cases resulted in these decisions and many others that
helped bring about equality and civil rights for the citizens of the United States.
Besides his work for the Supreme Court, Warren also led the Warren Commission in
charge of investigating the assassination of President Kennedy. The investigation
found Lee Harvey Oswald guilty, but the findings were attacked by many. Following
the end of the investigation in 1964, he returned to focusing on leading the Supreme
Court. Warren s term as Supreme Court Chief Justice lasted until his retirement in
1969.
Earl Warren passed away in 1974 from heart failure. Warren left behind him a
legacy that will have his name remembered for many years. His judicial activism
and leadership throughout his career are a lasting impact that has shaped the history
of the United States. While he was far from perfect, he worked to protect the rights
of the people and provide for
The Federal Reserve System ( Money )
^The Federal Reserve System Money, it certainly does make the world go round, and
the reason it is able to do so, is because people have trust in this little piece of paper.
Around the globe there is no piece of paper that inspires more confidence. Officially,
the US Dollar bills are Federal Reserve notes. Every note that is spent or received is
part of a complex organization known as the Federal Reserve System. The Federal
Reserve System is the integral component that keeps the American banking system
afloat. It is, in essence, the governing body of banking and is responsible for many
policies, laws, and regulations that have shaped the American banking system into
what it is today. This institution has garnered a lot of support, as well as faced a
lot of backlash in times of financial turmoil. However, observing the facts and
analyzing the history of the Federal Reserve System will show that is has largely
been a positive force in America. The Federal Reserve System plays a large role in
both the national and world economies and is therefore heavily scrutinized. Under
such scrutiny, one can find that a positive and significant relationship exists
between the Federal Reserve System and the economy because of the policies the
Federal Reserve enacts, the Federal Reserve s regulation of interest rates, and the
Federal Reserve s response to crises in direct connection to economic stability. In
order to firmly grasp the driving concepts behind the Federal Reserve s policies
Microscopy Essay
The resolution of optical microscopes is fundamentally limited by the diffraction of
light, as postulated by German physicist Ernst Abbe in 1873. This means that a
microscope cannot distinguish two objects located closer than О»/2NA, where О» is
the wavelength of light and NA is the numerical aperture of the imaging lens (2).
Although elucidation of cell functions and subcellular processes has benefited from
advances in fluorescent microscopy, this diffractionlimit has fundamentally hindered
optical microscopy for over a century (1). Recently, however, several new
developments in imaging have emerged which can circumvent this limit. By
delivering optical images with spatial resolutions below the diffraction limit super
resolution microscopy techniques now permits biologists to visualize structures and
processes of cells at the molecular level, down to several nanometers. This incredible
improvement in spatial resolution has allowed biologists to address important new
questions requiring resolutions below 250nm, involving details such as the fine
architecture of cell structures, focal adhesions, microtubules, and coated vesicles.
Internal dynamic processes can also now be studied, including the movement of focal
adhesion complexes and bacteria polarity complexes (3). Super resolution techniques
used for live cell imaging studies can generally be divided into three categories: those
based on highly localized fluorescence emission volumes; those based on structured
illumination;
Essay On Hourly Cooling Load
Li et al. (2009) applied support vector machine (SVM) in propose of prediction
hourly cooling load for an office building in Guangzhou, China. They also compare
their finds with results from back propagation (BP) neural network model. The results
show the SVM has higher accuracy and better generalization. The predictors for this
study were normalized door dry bulb temperature for current and previous hour and
the previous 2 hours, normalized relative humidity, and normalized solar radiation
intensity for current and previous hour and normalized cooling load was the target.
The month of July was used to train the model. May, June, August, and October data
were used to the model. Moreover, Authors used simulation software (DeST) to

This method was implemented on a super high rise building in Hong Kong. The data
was the measurement of the actual load from mid June to early August in 2011. The
root mean square error (RMSE) and the R square value the initial load prediction
were 0.89 and RMSE 2144 kW respectfully. The results of calibrated load prediction
was improved. When errors of the past 2 hours were used, the results showed the best
agreement with the actual data with 0.96 R square and
1058 kW RMSE [16]. Huang and Huang (2013) used Autoregressive Moving Average
with Exogenous inputs (ARMAX) model, Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) model,
Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model and Resistor Capacitor (RC) network (a
simplified physical model) to predict the cooling load for an office buildings in
Hong Kong. The inputs variables were previous 4 hour cooling load, dry bulb
outdoor air temperature, solar horizontal radiation, and room temperature set point.
The compression results show MLR and ARMAX models have better performance
with the smallest mean MBE and mean standard deviation [17].
Sun et al. (2013) applied general regression neural network (GRNN) with single
stage (SS) and double stages (DS) to predict load. In double stage model, the first
step is predict the weather data for the next 24hours; the second step is to predict
cooling load. Two hotels in China were chosen to test and validate the models. The
authors found that DS
Psychological Analysis of Lee Harvey Oswald Essay
On November 22nd, 1963 President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. It was
concluded by The Warren Commission that the man who assassinated President
Kennedy was 24 year old, Lee Harvey Oswald. Less than 48 hours after Kennedy was
shot, while Oswald was being transferred to the county jail, he was assassinated. Lee
Harvey Oswaldwas killed before he could undergo any psychological or psychiatric
analysis, so it is impossible to know for certain what his mental state was at the time
of President Kennedy s assassination. The Warren Commissionstates that they were
unable to reach any definite conclusions as to whether or not he (Lee Harvey
Oswald) was sane under prevailing legal standards (Warren et al., 1964, p. 375). I do

It is known that during the divorce Oswald s mother often complained openly about
how difficult is was for her to raise three children on her own (Ewing McCann,
2006, p. 22). Undoubtedly causing a young Oswald to feel rejected, unwanted, and
like a burden. It is noted, that at this time Oswald s family members realized that
Oswald kept to himself most of the time and was becoming increasingly withdrawn
(Ewing McCann, 2006, p. 22).
As Oswald got a little older he became more delinquent and started to skip school
while his mother was at work. To make matters worse he and his mother were
constantly moving and he was transferred from school to school. By the time he
was ten years old, Oswald had enrolled in his sixth school (Ewing McCann, 2006,
p. 23). When Oswald was 12 years old, he and his mother moved to New York City
to live with Oswald s older half brother and his family. Soon after arriving, during
an argument, Oswald threatened his sister in law with a pocketknife, and Oswald
and his mother were asked to leave (Ewing McCann, 2006, p. 23). This incident
truly speaks to Oswald s propensity for violence and is far from the only example in
his life, which we will see. After that incident, Oswald continued his truancy, which
lead to him going to court and being put on probation. This was his first encounter
with the law. He was also ordered to stay at Youth House, a

My Favorite Essay. Remarkable My Favorite Place Essay Thatsnotus

  • 1. My Favorite Essay Crafting an essay on the topic "My Favorite Essay" may seem deceptively simple at first glance, but the inherent challenge lies in the paradoxical nature of the task. The endeavor demands a delicate balance between self-reflection and objectivity, as one must navigate the fine line between personal preferences and universal appeal. To begin with, the very subject matter seems to set a trap for the writer, beckoning them into the labyrinth of subjectivity. Choosing a favorite essay becomes an exercise in introspection, forcing the writer to confront their own biases, tastes, and literary inclinations. The process involves sifting through a myriad of personal experiences and intellectual encounters to pinpoint that one piece of writing that stands out above the rest. However, the task doesn't end with the selection of a favorite essay; the challenge intensifies as the writer endeavors to articulate the reasons behind their choice. Expressing personal sentiments and translating the emotional impact of a particular essay into words is an intricate dance that requires finesse. The danger here lies in the potential for the essay to devolve into a mere listing of likes and dislikes, lacking the depth and substance necessary for a compelling piece of writing. Furthermore, attempting to make the essay universally relatable adds an additional layer of complexity. The writer must strike a delicate balance between the personal and the communal, ensuring that the chosen essay resonates not only with them but also with a broader audience. This requires a nuanced approach, as the writer must weave a narrative that bridges the gap between the individual and the collective. In the pursuit of creating an essay that captures the essence of a favorite piece of writing, one must grapple with the challenge of finding the right words to convey emotions, the appropriate anecdotes to illustrate points, and the delicate interplay of language to engage the reader. The task demands a deep understanding of the chosen essay, as well as a keen awareness of the nuances of language and rhetoric. In conclusion, the seemingly straightforward task of writing an essay on the topic "My Favorite Essay" reveals itself as a multifaceted challenge that requires introspection, objectivity, and a mastery of language. It is a journey that forces the writer to navigate the intricate terrain between personal subjectivity and universal appeal. Similar writing challenges can be daunting, but fear not – assistance is available. • 2. Examples Of Dehumanization In Kurt Vonnegut Showing concern for the fellow being is the need of the hour which will give comfort and solace to the inhabitants of the world. Humanity thrives well if the people of its society live with concern. Everybody expects care and warmth from the society forgetting the fact the little drops from every individual will make a mighty ocean. It is the apt time to think about what is wrong with the attitude of mankind to check what will harm the present as well as future generations. The writers who write science fiction try to create awareness and at the same time give an alarm to the society. Kurt Vonneguttries his level best in imprinting the evils of scientific development and warns what is to be done to improve the life of mankind better. The advancement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many countries have been dehumanized the fellow human beings for language. If one person moves to America, he should know English as a language then only he would be eligible for survival. Other problem is that Americans do not treat them as human beings unless they know their language forgetting the fact that America was also once colonized by the British. In Breakfast of Champions, Kurt Vonnegut has implied many themes. His themes include how humans are acting as machines, emotional state of the American citizens, ideas of disease that haunt mankind, the destruction of the planet by indifferent attitude to his fellow beings, communism, advertising, overpopulation, racism, and at last how machines enslave the world. Mostly Vonnegut novels deal with the most profound issues of human existence in a style that is accessible to
  • 3. Violence During The Trojan War The Trojan War is one of the most important events in Greek Mythology. The Trojan War had so much violence throughout, that there were three types of violence. Physical violence is the fighting part of the war. Verbal violence is when the Greeks and Trojans would hurt each other with words not weapons. Sexual violence was the raping of any women who were from Troy or the Greeks. In this analysis, you will learn the three types of violence in the Trojan War. Physical violence was the main type of violence that occurred throughout the grueling Trojan War. In Mythology it says, For nine years victory wavered, now to this side, now to that. Neither was ever able to gain any decided advantage. Each and every day, for nine years there was a bloody, gory battle that took place. A lot of the noblest fighters in Greek Mythology died in this war such as; Achilles, Ajax, Hector, and Paris. Obviously, Physical violence was what occurred throughout the bloody Trojan War.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Mythology it says Athena sweeping down to the battlefield, persuaded the foolish heart of Panduras, a Trojan, to break the truce and shoot an arrow at Menelaus. If Athena had not tricked Panduras into shooting an arrow at Menelaus, Troy might still be standing here to this present day. Also, when The Judgement of Paris occurred, if Aphrodite had not portrayed her story to Paris well enough to get the golden apple, most likely the Trojan War would ve never happened. Truly, Verbal violence can be just as effective as Physical
  • 4. Maagdalena And Mary Magdalene This reference to Mary Magdalene is implicitly referencing the individual painting however, it can also be seen as an explicit reference when you see the physical painting of Penitent Magdalene. He also addresses her as Magdalene which adds to the strength of the reference. This reference is a strong biblical reference that can have a variety of interpretations although it can be argued that Caravaggio loved her so much because he wishes that he could repent for his sins. He had a troubled life when he was younger and there were a lot of mistakes that he made when he was younger that he is not proud of. He is also a presumed homosexual and although homosexuality was very prominent in nobility and among patrons who took advantage of Caravaggio, homosexuality was deemed unnatural and therefore must remain hidden. A significant difference between the historical Mary Magdaleneand Lena is the difference in their life before repentance and their life after. Mary Magdalene was a repentant prostitute who was asking for forgiveness for her choice of lifestyle and her sins. She was claimed to have found a new life in the way of christ and leave behind a life of luxury and sinin order to cleanse herself in the way of the savior JesusChrist. Lena s reasoning for repentance is different, she is moving away from her life of sin and prostitution in order to raise her baby with a wealthy man and live a life of grandeur. This idea is interesting because it presents the question of why

  • 6. Breaking Social Norms Essay Social norms are actions and behaviors that are recognized as acceptable amongst society. Personally, I abide to most social norms because it provides me sense of comfort and belonging. To break a social norm would probably make anyone feel like an outsider and the need to feel accepted is what most likely drives us to conform to social norms. In order to test how social norms affect myself and other around me, I decided to completely step outside of my comfort zone and break an imperative hygienic social norm; brushing ones teeth. While brushing your teeth is crucial to one s hygiene, it s also a courtesy to others and is considered to be a social norm for many reasons. Humans, specifically Americans, tend to value oral health to the highest degree because our communication between one and other revolves around the mouth. Not brushing your teeth can result in bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease. While it may seem like these complications only affect those who choose not to brush their teeth, it doesn t. The majority of Americans find it rude, let alone disgusting, when they are talking to someone who has neglected to clean their teeth and can relate to holding their breath in attempt to not to smell someone s rancid breath. Many people also find it uncomfortable when looking at someone s rotten, food filled teeth in conversation. All in all, neglecting to brush ones teeth can result in a multitude of undesirable issues that not only affects themselves, but everyone

  • 8. Napoleon Dialectical Journal He sat down and allowed himself a short pull from the waterbag. He scanned the desert, looked up at the sun, which was now sliding down the far quadrant of the sky. He got up, removed his gloves from his belt, and began to pull devil grass for his own fire, which he laid over the ashes the man in black had left. He found the irony, like the romance of his thirst, bitterly appealing. He did not use the flint and steel until the remains of the day were only the fugitive heat in the ground beneath him and a sardonic orange line on the monochrome western horizon. He watched the south patiently, toward the mountains, not hoping or expecting to see the thin straight line of smoke from a new campfire, but merely watching because that was a part of ... • 10. Planet Earth Is Doomed Planet Earth is Doomed! Happy New Year! Lim, Zelda and Mateo were having a celebration as it was New Year s Eve, 2241, and they were meeting up at Mateo s house. When they had all had something to eat and drink they decided to put the TV on to watch some of the annual rocket and boulder race. Lim turned the TV on to Star channel. All of a sudden, there became an urgent news bulletin at the bottom of the TV which said, DANGER in big red letters. The newsreader looked horrified and bewildered, he looked like he had seen a ghost. The bulletin said that there was a meteorite coming to hit planet Earth. When all three boys saw the bulletin they looked at each other with stunned faces. What was going to happen to planet Earth? After very little sleep, the next morning Mateo quickly switched on the TV to see what the update was about the meteorite. When the Star News came up there was a journalist talking to four scientists about their discovery of the ... meteorite. The scientists idea ...... was to put a laser beam around Earth. As Zelda and Lim woke up, Mateo was sitting on the edge of the couch. Zelda nervously asked Mateo what the news was about the meteorite and Mateo informed him about what was going on. At 7:00 that night the laser beam was due to be switched on. All three boys went outside and hopefully gazed at the night sky. All of a sudden, a bright green shine lit the horizon of the Earth. All three boys let out a sigh of relief. But no sooner had they begun to
  • 11. Acadian Women Summary Just from looking at the title of the article Acadian Women and French Colonial society in eighteenth century Louisbourg, we can easily see the topic that Anne Marie Lane Jonah and Elizabeth Tait would be focussing their discussion on. The overall summary of the article is the discussion of Acadian Women and their families having to uproot everything they own and moving to a new French colony in Isle Royale after the defeat of Port Royal .These families would move from Mainland Nova Scotiato the City of Louisbourg, Cape Breton Island. Once in their new home, the Acadians realize that they are in a new society that is unknown to them. The authors begin by examining colonial records which are a type of primary source that is very credible, in the sense, it is likely a government recorded document at that time which would have information regarding the transition from mainland Nova Scotia to what is now Louisbourg . This source, in general, is a good one but doesn t completely back up the thesis of this article. The second primary source that is used by Jonah and Tait is an archaeological investigation of Acadian agricultural households. This is an incredible source that they picked because this source allows us to understand what the structure of these people s homes would be like in the 18th century. I m not sure exactly where the writers get this information for this next source, but I do believe it is a secondary source worth mentioning. Two historians named Maurice Basque and Josette Brun has gathered examples of Acadian women who have stepped out in wanting to participate in the public realm .This would be very credible source because historians do a lot of research into their topics and often get their work published in books. The last primary source which I find very interesting and the most credible out of this article would be the estate inventory of Jeanne Thibodeau article concludes with. This source not only is a very rare document but is very interesting in the fact it allows the reader to get a sense of what people in this decade would of own for clothes as well as any other personal items. All of these sources are very good and appropriate in the context of this article and its

  • 14. Albert Camus Philosophy in The Plague Essays Albert Camus Philosophy in The Plague To know ourselves diseased is half our cure. Alexander Pope As the title clearly suggests, the novel The Plague is, indeed, a story of disease. On the surface, the novel The Plague, may be an accounting of facts detailing the outbreak of bubonic plague in the town of Oran. But on a deeper level, it is a novel that reveals awareness and acceptance of the limits of human existence. And it is also a reminder of our absurd freedom and the choices we make in life, especially when facing death. In writing The Plague we are told that Camus sought to convey [...] the feeling of suffocation from which we all suffered and the atmosphere of threat and exile in which we lived (Bree, 1964:128). He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rieux speaks of his chronicle as a testimony. The confession takes us back directly to Camus s main preoccupation: his need to rethink the fundamental problems of life (Bree, 1964:129). In The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus considers the one fundamental problem of life to be the question of suicide; he tells us that one kills oneself because life is not worth living (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus, p.8). In addition: Dying voluntarily implies that you have recognized, even instinctively, the ridiculous character of that habit, the absence of any profound reason for living, the insane character of that daily agitation, and the uselessness of suffering (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus pp. 5 6). Although few of the characters in The Plague die voluntarily, Camus states in The Myth that the contrary of suicide, in fact, is the man condemned to death (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus, p.55). Interestingly, due to the outbreak of plague in the town of Oran, the characters in The Plague are quarantined and, in a sense, condemned to death. In the novel Camus describes, in great detail, the sleepy town and its people who display the ridiculous characteristics he discusses in the above passage; and as the novel progresses, Camus gives life to the absurd and to its consequences. In the first pages of The Plague Rieux tells us the truth is that everyone is bored, and [everyone] devotes himself to cultivating habits (The Plague, p.5). In The Myth Camus attempts to

The Manifest Destiny Essay The Manifest Destiny is the idea of continental expansion by the United States, from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans, which naturally occurred out of a deep want and need to explore and conquer new lands and establish new borders. This idea contributed to several wars, including the US Mexican War. Mexico and the United States had its share of territorial issues. With only four more days of his presidency, on March 1, 1845, President John Tyler signed the Texas annexation bill. She has proclaimed that hostilities have commenced, and that the two nations are at war. (1) Two days later, the US Congress overwhelmingly votes in favor of President James K. Polk s request to declare war on Mexico. American military forces took up several major campaigns in the course of the war resulting in significant battles that occurred throughout the region. American Brigadier General Stephen Kearney led a small force to seize Santa Fe and the New Mexico territory, and then marched west to California. There he met up with an American force and eventually secured the completion of the Bear Flag Revolt; American settlers declared their independence from Mexico. American General Taylor fought General Ampudia and his Mexican troops, who surrendered control of Monterey, which enabled General Taylor to secure another essential city as he proceeded southward towards central Mexico. Former Mexican President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna returned to Mexico from exile and trained a new army of men to oppose the invaders.

It is argued that If an organization does not leverage the potent weapon of diversity, it risks limiting its creative potential and ultimately losing its competitive edge (Ey.com, 2017). There are a lot of jumps in Blyth s fingers and the beginning part drew us a picture of harmony and peace. I noticed that Blyth stepped on the paddles a lot of times in order to make some intervals between sections which split the notes up. Through this technique used on peddle, a delightful and dynamic tone was made and one can easily feel the sense of optimism and vitality that the music conveyed. As the melody moves gradually towards a fierce and angry emotion tone, Blyth made big jumps between left and right hands, bouncing back and forth heavily between different ranges of the keyboard. With her body slightly inclining towards the piano, she made some powerful sounds by using the weight of her arms when she dropping her arms onto the keyboard. This also reminds me of some problems in my own practice. When playing some chords, I use the strength of fingers instead of the arm s, which made it harder to extend the volume and restrict the clearness of the notes. In addition, after the piece reached its climax and getting close to the end, Blyth had her fingers make some small pinch to make slight emphases on some notes, without ruining the soft and restful atmosphere in the background, which gave me some inspiration for my future study on piano performance. In conclusion, through observing the piano performance of Blyth s concert, I was greatly inspired and learned some performance skills which are

Although each one of these poets is highly successful and influential in the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth, often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily. The Importance Of Marine Conservation Sophie Huggins The role of Marine Protected Areas (MPA s) and why marine conservation is important for saving the ocean for current and future generations. From the air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, the need for constant medical advances, and to the products that keep us warm, safe, and entertained all these can come from or be transported by the oceans for human society5. As the oceans cover a large expanse of the earth s surface and are huge ecosystems, our security, economy and survival all require healthy oceans. Whether we live near the coast or far from it, whether we consume seafood or not, life depends on the marine ecosystem. We need to devote more energy into research, monitoring and enforcement of laws in order to increase scientific knowledge, monitor exploitation, protect and prevent degradation and damage to species and their habitats. There are many reasons why the oceans should be conserved and protected. For instance, at any given moment in time, more than 97% of the world s water resides in oceans which means that they make up 99% of liveable space on earth6. The World s oceans provide a sixth of the animal protein that people eat5. More than 8 million tonnes of plastic are dumped into the oceans every year, more than 80 percent of marine plastic litter, comes from land based sources, such as drink bottles and plastic packaging. The remainder comes from sea based plastics, such as fishing gear that has been dropped or discarded9. This is not

The Attribute And Function Of The Satguru Essay Reiterating yet again the salvific attribute and function of the Satguru, the Pir reminds his addressees that the Satguru has come to the terrestrial plane and has brought with Him, the secret knowledge of spiritual freedom and adds that through embrace of the NЕ«r of the Satguru, one attains immortality. The first two lines of this verse, which are almost similar to the opening two lines of the eleventh verse of this composition, reaffirm that the Satguru is indeed the custodian of the knowledge of, and holder of the key to, salvation. This fact resonates with the stipulation in the preamble of the Ismaili Constitution that Imam s Ta lim lights the murids path to spiritual enlightenment and vision. Essentially, these two lines encapsulate the theme of the redemptive attribute and role of the Satguru, discussed in verses eleven, eighteen, nineteen, twenty three and twenty six of this granth. Apart from serving as a reminder to the believers to seek emancipation through the Satguru, the Ginans, through their persistent emphasis on the redemptive function of the Satguru, seek to highlight the fact that, leading the faithful to spiritual liberation is one of the most significant roles of the Satguru and may as well be His raison d ГЄtre. The second key point is with air travelers that live near the spoke or regional areas of the routes. Those near the spokes have gained hundreds of new destinations with the new system. One norm may differ from another and they vary on which ones matter and those who don t. The concept of ethnocentrism is often viewed by anthropologists as a two way street. People judge other cultures and the people being judged are feel compelled to do the same. The Western world for many centuries had
  • 35. Relationship Between Mother And Infant Introduction The relationship between mother and infant is extraordinary. A lot of research has been done to test the social stresses on dyadic synchrony on mothers and infants as well as toddlers and pre teens. This article extends on previous research on FFSF exposures by observing not only the social interactions of the mother and infantfrom face face interactions but also by still face pictures. Also, assessing the infant s interactive style, the mother s behaviorand dyadic synchrony in observing the responses to the two FFSF exposures 15 minutes apart. This researchis relevant to the neuro field, and how the development of an infant s brain do to social stress. Specific Findings Design The article was separated into 12 sub titles, (Methods, Participants, Procedure, Coding, Statistical Analasis, Results, Stability of Infant s social stress response between FFSF exposures, Predicting Infant s Response to the First Social Stress, Predicting Infant s Response to the Repeated Social Stress, Discussion, Conclusion, References). The methods were only slightly modified from the previous experiment. The mothers and infant s were exposed twice to the FFSF, 15 days apart and in two minute episode (play, still face, reunion). The episodes were filmed by two cameras, one on the mother and one on the infant. Results The original hypothesis was to be able to modify the infant s behavior and the dyadic synchrony to the repeated FFSF exposures by shorting the time between the

Analysis Of Stairway To Heaven No matter how many times somebody is asked to give an explanation to what the song Stairway to Heaven really perseveres, different answers will be given every time. The song Stairway to Heaven was written by Led Zeppelin in 1971. Throughout all these years, still everybody has their own interpretation to the song, and they will respond differently based upon what the true meaning of the song really is. The reason being is, the song represents many different values throughout it, and it is the others choice to determine the outlook on it. In 1980, Led Zeppelin could have had the biggest tour in the history of rock and roll. Although, this never happened because one of the members, Rob Plant, refused to be a part of it. He rejected to reunite with the rest of the group because he believed that no amount of money is worth having to sing Stairway to Heaven. To begin with, when asked about Rob Plant s interpretation of the song, he responded with I still interpret the song a different way and I wrote the lyrics. In addition, he believed that the lyrics took some rough shots. In the beginning of it, he claims that it is meant towards a woman who strives for money, only to find out the unpleasant way that is going to be keeping her from reaching her stairway to heaven. Rob Plant had no other reason for stating what his meaning was towards writing the song, but he did note that he saw it as a woman getting everything she wanted without giving anything back. Music Is An Art That The Tones Assignment Music is an art that the tones have been arranged accordingly sequence, and produce a unified and continuous composition (Webster s II New Riverside University Dictionary, 1984). Music does not have any fixed form but it has different meaning for different people. I think that music is a sound that is filled with a person s emotions, feelings, and thoughts; meanwhile it can also affect a person feelings and thought. I like brisk and lively songs that make me feel happy and relax, instead of heavy sad songor strong rhythm hit song because I can easily be emotional. Among all other songs, Wide Awake sung by an American singer named Katy Perry is a meaningful song for me. I still remember the first time I listened to this song was in the evening, and I had just went back from school and was having a rest in the living room while watching Astro Hitz with my sister. This song showed up in the television and I cannot move my eyes away from Katy Perry s musicvideo. It was so touching and powerful for me, I can feel the beat, bass, pitch, and the lyrics that played around my head. It is an amazing song that I had ever heard and it touched my heart. He was not the type. I knew it would end badly. She spoke of her husband, and, unfortunately, her prediction was correct. Earlier that day, her husband, Yossef, and his teammates were awoken by Arab terrorists beginning an episode that would result in the death of eleven Israeli athletes and forever scar the 1972 Olympics, leaving the games to be remembered for the years to come as the Munich Massacre. Most Germans hoped that the 1972 Olympics would help to heal the racial damage caused by the 1936 Olympics. It was the first time the games had returned to the state since Nazism ... At approximately four o clock in the morning on September 5, 1972 (six days before the end of the games), Yossef Gutfreund, a 275 pound wrestling referee, reacted to the sound of Arab voices behind the door of the apartment where he and other Israeli athletes were staying. The terrorists had accessed the building unnoticed as they were dressed in athletic warm ups and carried their weapons in gym bags. Gutfreund quickly alerted his roommates that something was wrong and proceeded to push his body against the door in an effort to prevent Arab entrance. His efforts were successful for only a few moments, however, as the Arabs soon entered the apartment, immediately taking five Israelis hostage. It was at this time that Romana, in an effort to save his teammates, took a knife out of the kitchen and stabbed one of the gunmen. Moments later, he and wrestling coach Moshe Weinberger were each shot several times, resulting in the first casualties of the morning. Many critics regard it as jazz s greatest record and one of the best albums of all time. Along with redefining and revolutionizing jazz, its influence on music has been unprecedented. The music theory, style, and organization of Kind of Blue has been one of the biggest influences on several genres since its creation; including but not limited to rock, funk, fusion, indie, and hip hop. The culture of jazzis extremely unique in music, and Davis s album changed that culture and changed the culture of several different genres and music itself. Characteristics Of The Film Moan The Epic Princess Moana: The Epic Princess Odysseus, Beowulf, Achilles, or maybe Gilgamesh all come to mind as archaic examples, but they are not the only works fit the criteria of an epic. Many modern day storylines such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or Moana are based on the ideas of an epic legend. The phrase epic denotes a type of long, narrative poem, one that celebrates a heroic achievement and/or holds themes of cultural significance. There are six defining characteristics of an epic: an outstanding hero, a large or vast setting, an action requiring superhuman courage, supernatural forces, a versed writing style, and an omniscient and objective author. These legends are generally mythologized histories often of oral origin that are loosely based on the region s history. In the case of Moana, the story takes place in Ancient Polynesia where a terrible curse of the Demigod, Maui, reaches Moana s island, Motunui; she goes on a quest to answer the ocean s call to seek out Maui and make things right. Moana s journey, in the form of an epic, involves her taking on a daring mission to save her people, and though she faces many tests along the way, with supernatural aid and other assists she successfully conquers this task. The film Moana, released in 2016, outlines all of the characteristics to qualify as an epic feature. As with all works of this style, Moana, the seemingly ordinary girl, is called from a normal life to head out on a daunting quest with many trials,

Around the globe there is no piece of paper that inspires more confidence. Officially, the US Dollar bills are Federal Reserve notes. Every note that is spent or received is part of a complex organization known as the Federal Reserve System. The Federal Reserve System is the integral component that keeps the American banking system afloat. It is, in essence, the governing body of banking and is responsible for many policies, laws, and regulations that have shaped the American banking system into what it is today. This institution has garnered a lot of support, as well as faced a lot of backlash in times of financial turmoil. However, observing the facts and analyzing the history of the Federal Reserve System will show that is has largely been a positive force in America. The Federal Reserve System plays a large role in both the national and world economies and is therefore heavily scrutinized. Under such scrutiny, one can find that a positive and significant relationship exists between the Federal Reserve System and the economy because of the policies the Federal Reserve enacts, the Federal Reserve s regulation of interest rates, and the Federal Reserve s response to crises in direct connection to economic stability. In order to firmly grasp the driving concepts behind the Federal Reserve s policies
  • 50. Microscopy Essay The resolution of optical microscopes is fundamentally limited by the diffraction of light, as postulated by German physicist Ernst Abbe in 1873. This means that a microscope cannot distinguish two objects located closer than О»/2NA, where О» is the wavelength of light and NA is the numerical aperture of the imaging lens (2). Although elucidation of cell functions and subcellular processes has benefited from advances in fluorescent microscopy, this diffractionlimit has fundamentally hindered optical microscopy for over a century (1). Recently, however, several new developments in imaging have emerged which can circumvent this limit. By delivering optical images with spatial resolutions below the diffraction limit super resolution microscopy techniques now permits biologists to visualize structures and processes of cells at the molecular level, down to several nanometers. This incredible improvement in spatial resolution has allowed biologists to address important new questions requiring resolutions below 250nm, involving details such as the fine architecture of cell structures, focal adhesions, microtubules, and coated vesicles. Internal dynamic processes can also now be studied, including the movement of focal adhesion complexes and bacteria polarity complexes (3). Super resolution techniques used for live cell imaging studies can generally be divided into three categories: those based on highly localized fluorescence emission volumes; those based on structured illumination;
