1. How To Write An Essay About Friendship
Writing an essay on the topic of "How To Write An Essay About Friendship" can be quite
challenging, ironically enough. It's like trying to explain how to navigate a maze while you're
still within its twists and turns. Friendship, as a concept, is intricate and deeply personal. It
involves layers of emotions, experiences, and nuances that are unique to each individual.
Firstly, to write about friendship effectively, one needs to have a profound understanding of
what friendship means to them personally. This involves introspection, reflection, and possibly
even delving into past experiences to extract valuable insights. However, this introspection can
sometimes be challenging as it requires a level of vulnerability and honesty that not everyone is
comfortable with.
Additionally, friendship is a broad and multifaceted topic. It encompasses everything from the
initial stages of forming a connection with someone to the complexities of maintaining and
nurturing that bond over time. Trying to capture all of these aspects within the confines of an
essay can feel like trying to catch lightning in a bottle.
Furthermore, there's the challenge of striking the right tone. An essay about friendship should
ideally balance sentimentality with objectivity, weaving together personal anecdotes with
broader insights into human relationships. Finding this balance can be tricky, as it's easy to veer
into either overly sentimental territory or overly academic analysis.
Lastly, there's the pressure to say something meaningful and original. Friendship is a topic that
has been explored extensively throughout history, from ancient philosophy to modern literature.
Trying to say something new or profound about such a timeless and universal theme can feel like
an uphill battle.
In conclusion, writing an essay about friendship requires navigating through a maze of emotions,
experiences, and expectations. It demands introspection, emotional honesty, and the ability to
strike the right balance between sentimentality and objectivity. It's a challenging task, but one
that can ultimately be incredibly rewarding for those willing to embark on the journey.

Chapter 2: The Rise of the Atlantic World 1400 1625
Key Terms
Joint stock company: Joint stock companies are companies made up of shareholders,
who all invest in this company and receives some of the profits and debts. Joint stock
companies opposed the strict, traditional European economic standards which
revolved around just prices, where profiting was looked down upon, and reciprocity,
in which trade was for mutual benefit. However, this created problems, where
investors were more and more determined to acquire more shares, creating more
tension between social classes, as the rich became richer and the poor became poorer.
Protestant Reformation: Martin Luther, a German monk, disliked and often criticized
the corrupted practice of selling indulgences. The Roman Catholic Church tried to
silence the criticisms from Luther, however, this exacerbated Luther s anger for the
Church. Luther s resistance to silence caused him to be excommunicated, and in ...

Native Americans in New France in Quebec. England had colonies in the New World
and territories in North America granted by charters from royalty, where settlers
could help England economically through exports of various goods. The Netherlands
focused on trading with the Mohawk Indians (mainly for furs) and colonized New
Amsterdam and New Netherland. In my opinion, the Dutch were the most successful.
Unlike the Spanish, the Dutch did not kill the Indians to exploit them, but they traded
goods and both parties profited through healthy connections, This symbiotic
relationship with the Indians that allowed the Dutch to prosper rather than
3. On Cannibals Montaigne
Michel de Montaigne s essay, On Cannibals, is a short philosophical excerpt that
explores ethnocentrism― a belief that one s own culture or ethnic group is superior
to another s. Based on his personal experiences in the New World, Montaigne
challenges the idea of superiority through critiquing his own culture. He includes a
shocking revelation about human nature, and our tendency to believe anything is
barbarous if it contradict our own habits. Some contemporary examples include the
Rwandan genocide, the slave trade in the United States, and child labour.
The Rwandan genocide occurred in 1944 where members of the Hutu ethnic majority
in the east central African nation of Rwanda, murdered nearly 800,000 people, mostly
of the Tutsi minority.
4. Literary Theme Of Self Identity Essay
In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee writes, before I can live with other folks I
ve got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn t abide by majority rule is a
person s conscience (Lee, 108). As displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird and many
others, the literary theme of selfidentitycoupled with coming of age has been a long
running one in the history of literature. Certainly, we find this theme in novels such
as Between Tides and Shadows of Your Black Memory, respectively. The
development of character and self identity is vital in the analysis of each protagonist.
Between Tides follows Pierre Landu, a black Catholic Priestand revolutionist, on a
journey to right his wrongs through rigorous self examination. Pierre, having rejected
his African ancestry during adolescence, in attempts to integrate into the Catholic
Priesthood finds himself dissatisfied with the priesthood during his adult years. In
attempts to reconnect to his cultural roots he joins a revolutionist movement to
deconstruct colonialism in his African nation. Through growth and the tumultuous
discovery of self, Pierre recognizes that there is no easy resolution in rediscovering
himself or Africa. Similarly, Shadows of Your Black Memory, is largely about a
young boy s journey into adulthood. Shadows is retold through the memory of the
adult version of the young boy. Unlike Pierre, the Narrator, who is never a given a
name is strikingly aware of the cultural and social parallels in which his

There has been a recent issue with people smoking and having tattoos in the Health
Care industry. 76% of employees believe tattoos hurt your chances of getting a job

have tattoos or if you smoke, you should not even apply. I disagree with this. A job
should not be denied to someone just because of the ink present on their skin or
what they put inside of their body. Over the past couple of decades, tattoos have
become very popular. The popularity of tattoos has grown 13% since 2007 and it
continues to rise. The percentage of tattooed adults in the United States is 42%. With
the rise and popularity of tattoos, health care professionals should be a lot more

6. Difference Between Skinhead And Skinhead
Can one be both a homosexual and identify as a member of the skinhead subculture?

A Skinhead by definition is defined as a subculture that was created among working
class London youths. Named after tightly shaven heads, a skinhead follows traditional
masculine values, beliefs and cultures. They originated from different mixtures of
subcultures and groups such as the West Indian rude boys and the hard mods .
It wasn t until the revival of the skinhead movement in the late 1970 s that the
associated image portrayed by the skinhead culture become related with far right

7. The Seven Miracles Of The Gospel Of John
There were seven Miracles which varied from the other three Synoptic Gospels
when reading the Gospel of John. Jesus was not ready to perform these miracles,
for he felt as if his time hadn t come yet. Jesus first chose all his disciples then
began spreading the words of his Father, God, among them and his followers along
several visits to Jerusalem.
In Cana, the first miracle was performed when Jesus was invited to attend a wedding
banquet. The servants ran out of wine and Jesus was approached by Mary who
requested that Jesus turned water into wine. Jesus had them fill empty jars with water
then he prayed to God the Father and the water was turned into wine. Jesus told the
servants to take the wine to the
Master of the banquet, where he had said that they saved their best wine for last. This
was the first miracle Jesus performed.
While on their way, Jesus and his disciples were approached by an Official who
heard what Jesus had done. He asked Jesus to go with him and help his dying son,
but he did not go. Jesus told the Official that his son would live. The man left Jesus
and was on his way back home when he was approached by his servants who told
him that his son was well. The Official asked the servants what time it was when
they found out of this and the Official proclaimed that he and his Family are
believers because this was the time he was with Jesus. This was Jesus second miracle.

8. Essay On Calculus Class
These previous weeks have been a roller coaster ride for me in calculus class. We
covered several derivative rules and applied them during lecture and even
homework. On discussion day, I took the quiz for these rules and managed to get a
perfect grade. On the 27th of October, I managed to sleep past eleven o clock.
Unfortunately, I missed on the introduction to the chain but I was still able to get a
note from a friend of mine. That night I decided to attempt the assigned homework. I
felt that this concept was easier than the time I learned it in high school. I managed
to get through the homework in roughly two hours. The following week we took our
midterm and heavily discussed the chain rule along with examples. As for why this
week is a rollercoaster, I was certain that I will pass the midterm without any
difficulties. The homework and quizzes gave me high expectations. These
expectations eventually hit the ground (very quickly) once I saw the actual test.
For my chemistry class, many concepts still feel like a review with few new
information. I haven t faced a dramatic change in difficulty yet and I believe I won
t. My method to passing this class consists of reading the topics in the reader and
solving the practice examples a day prior to the lecture. Once in lecture, everything
covered further enhances my understanding. The professor s advice to approaching
problems is sometimes different from what I previously learned. This difference
makes me appreciate his teaching
9. The Great Barrier Reef Of Australia s Coral Reefs
Since commercial fishing in Australia s coral reefs began in the early 1970s,
overfishing, climate change, dynamite fishing, and pollution have contributed to a
large scale decline in the health of the reefs and the marine life that reside within
them. The Great Barrier Reef stands as one of the most varied ecosystems in the
world, serving as a natural environment for thousands of species of marine life. The
reefs provide millions of dollars in revenue for Australia by attracting many tourists,
providing fish, and by advancing medical research. The coralreefs are beneficial to
Australia because they serve as a barrier to protect the land from large waves and
tsunamis. Reef industries, such as fishing and tourism, which generate
approximately 5.4 billion dollars annually for the Australian economy and support
over 69,000 jobs, are dependent on a healthy environment ( The Great Barrier Reef
). Tourism is one of the largest commercial activities in the Great Barrier Reef
region, playing an important role in presenting the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park
to a wide range of visitors. There is a myriad range of tourism operations in the
Great Barrier Reef including tours, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing charters, cruises,
whale watching, and swimming with dolphins ( Experiences in the Region ). The
fishing industry in Australia depends on the reefs since many fish breed there and
young fish occupy time there before making their way to the open sea ( Biodiversity

Introduction As we continue our discussion in comparing qualitative versus

However, there is little research that provides a clear definition of what is meant by
social support (Leahy Warren et el, 2009). In other words, there is no research
which has measured the relationship between social support and maternal parental
self efficacy using a domain specific instrument developed and supported by self
efficacy model and post natal depression with first time mothers at six weeks post
delivery
(Leahy Warren et el, 2009)
Maternal Parental Self Efficacy and Depression By now, some of you may be
asking the same question that I had when I first started reading this article. What is
meant by maternal parental self efficacy and post natal depression? It is important
to understand these two definitions in order to understand the article. Maternal
parental self efficacy is a belief that a parent holds about themselves in terms of
being able to care for and parent a child (Leahy Warren et el, 2009). These includes
the ability to plan, organize, and execute actions in order to produce the desire results
with the belief that there is a strong correlation between the age of the mother and the
number of children (Leah Warren et el, 2009).
I can t help to think about my own experience as a mother as I read this article. I am
a single mother of six children and I can say that my confidence grew more as I
11. Analysis Of Marge Piercy s A Work Of Artifice
The United States Women s National Team is paid almost four times less than the
United States Men s National Team, despite producing nearly $20 million in
revenues for U.S. Soccer in 2015 . Some may argue that just because they are
women they don t deserve equal pay or the same rights as the men s soccer players.
This is one of many situations that contributes injustices against women. It is these
injustices that Marge Piercy exposes in her feminist poem A Work of Artifice.
Although to the untrained eye, A Work of Artifice may appear to be simply about
bonsai trees, the poem actually uses an extended, implied metaphor or to emphasize
the damaging effects of misogyny on women and to underscore the patriarchal
ignorance that oppresses women.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Piercy compares men to a gardener, which outlines the damaging effects of
patriarchy. For example, Piercy states, The gardener croons, it is your nature to be
small and cozy, domestic and weak; how lucky, little tree, to have a pot to grow in.
and how attractive the pot is. The gardener truly feels that he isn t doing any harm to
the bonsai, that the plant is very lucky to have such a nice, attractive pot to live in.
The gardener does not realize that he is doing more harm to the bonsai by not letting
it grow to its full potential. Piercy then shows how the gardner manipulates the
appearance or hinders the growth of the bonsai. She is making the relation as to how
men treat women in present society. She then exemplifies her opinion of men being
an inconsiderate, ignorant species that hinders a woman s potential to be succeed on
her own and fulfill her own aspirations. Through her opinion, she then makes the
connection that the pot and the bonsai refer to women only being a stay at home
mom or in the kitchen cooking, are their only duty. By using an extended metaphor,
Piercy explains her views as to how men are inconsiderate, ignorant and completely
ruthless towards women because of the patriarchal society that is present
12. The Full Scope Of Human Life
Humans are an interesting species because of the strong need humans have to fully
understand what it truly means to be human. Many fields such as history, psychology,
and sociology all offer a perspective in the study of humanity, but there are
distinguishable from anthropology. Anthropology differs from other humanities
fields due to its holistic nature, comparative research methods, and the strong
emphasis on fieldwork and participant interaction. Anthropologyis the study of people
throughout the world, their evolutionary history, how they behave, adapt to different
environments, communicate and socialize with one another. In order for
anthropologists to examine the full scope of human life, they employ the four field
approach that embodies the holistic nature of the field.
The four subfields of anthropology are physical anthropology, archeology, linguistic
anthropology, and cultural anthropology. Physical anthropology examines the
evolution of humans and their variability, and adaptations to their environment due to
natural selection. Archeology is the historical examination of human life through
remnants or artifacts of human past. These artifacts can be used to reconstruct human
behavior before written records or to explore the more recent past of humans.
Linguistic anthropology studies how language influences social life in the past and
present. Cultural anthropology is the branch of anthropology that focuses on the
cultural variations among humans and their

14. The Role Of The Cadaver In Mary Roach straff
Mary Roach s Stiff is on the human cadaver and their many uses throughout history.
Roach begins by visiting the University of California, and observes surgeons
practicing surgeries on cadavers. The donated cadavers are very important in the
medical field, because without them, there would be no realistic way to practice
surgeries without actually performing them on live people. Roach then goes into the
history of the cadaverin the medical field. Many civilizations used dead bodies to
learn about humananatomy and practice medical procedures. England in the 17th
and 18th century used cadavers so often, that they had a shortage of them, leading to
people snatching bodies from graves to sell to medical schools and anatomists. Next,
Roach flies to the University of Tennessee, where they have an area with bodies
decomposing all over the lawn. Researchers here observe the processes after death,
which begins with autolysis, where enzymes in the bodybreak down cell walls.
Roach calls the next step bloat, where the bacteria in bodies expel gas, but the body
cannot release it, making it swell. The final step is putrefaction or decay, where the

I never understood how difficult it would be to leave the only place I called home.
I always thought I would live the rest of my life in Tennessee. One night at the
dining room table I realized that all my hopes of growing up with my best friends
and family were vanishing. It was a typical school night at my house in July. My
mother had set five place settings, and placed the spaghetti and garlic bread in the
middle of the table. My two brothers and I talked of what had happened at school
that day. Then my father stood up. He is not a big man, sort of short and on the bald
side, but something in his standing up made me take my attention off my spaghetti

My two brothers were more excited about the topic of moving because they dont
know how to take pride in what our town has. My dad pulled me aside from the

good it s going to be. All i could say was Dad please don t make me move . The
next couple weeks of my life was terrible, it was all about sitting in my room
packing up all my childhood memories. It took two moving trucks and my dad s
brutally painted green van to empty our big brown house with the greenest grass in
the town of Albaturkey, Tennessee. Driving through Albaturkey for the last time
on the old, cracked side roads with the black oak tree s surrounding our van was a
time that had impacted me for the rest of my life, just then I realised this was
really it I m moving . We arrived when the skies were black, you could see the
bright tiny stars from here much clearer and the moonlight made the ocean
sparkle. Wake up! mom yelled, today is moving day! . Me and my two brothers
dragged ourselves downstairs through this strange house that we now call home.
We emptied the trucks and van and started to settle ourselves in. My room was
much bigger here and had gigantic windows and one opened up to be a balcony. It
took us a good month to finally get everything in place, we never even got a chance
to check out our new city yet
16. The American Civil War was Unavoidable Essay
The American Civil War was unavoidable. Because of regional and political disputes
the country would have continued to boil even if the extremists on both sides were
kept under control. No matter what was done politically a conflict was necessary to
eradicate slavery from this continent. Anger in the South was becoming a growing
trend. The Southerners were angered by the fact that, in their view, the North was
trying to dissolve their way of life. CongressmanRobert Toombs of Georgia says, if

In the North opposition to slavery and the belief that the country can not survive
divided were becoming the more dominant train of thoughts. Abraham Lincoln
said that a house divided can not stand . He felt that either the country would be all
slave or all free, but he knew fully that abolitionists would not give up. He also felt
though that this issue would be resolved and that he did not expect the Union to be
dissolved . He obviously thought that the South would give up easier, but he was
wrong. In Uncle Tom s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe she shows how evil slavery
was in Document C by basically showing the cruelty that slaves had to endure and
that Southern slave holders were evil with no remorse. She shows that slaves are
mistreated and that this can not go on (P C). With political leaders such as Lincoln
believing that someone, particularly the South, would give in and authors such as
Stowe showing the evils of slavery people in the North were bound to believe that
slavery should be abolished. With more and more people feeling strongly about this
in the North a conflict was bound to occur. In conclusion the question why...can we
not withdraw this vexed question [of slavery in the US] from politics posed by
Stephen Douglas can be answered in this way. The reason why the US could not just
forget about the slavery issue and let people decide for themselves if they wanted

17. Voting Argument For Voting
This argument of Australia s voting age has been debated nationwide for over quite
an extensive period of time. Voting is a fundamental aspect of our democratic system
which enables an opinion thus pursuing laws and rules that govern our country.
Several people believe that 16 year olds can handle the responsibility of votingas it is
an important skill as a citizen to have a say in what will have a direct impact on them
in the future. However, this statement can be highly controversial as many believe
they make rational decisions based on lack of experience and maturity.
Today in our modern society, 16 year olds are open to a wide range of
opportunities that allow them to apply and manage skills of responsibility yet
planting their safety in the hands of their own future. A sixteen year old Australian
citizen has the ability to create a family, work full time, join the armed forces, pay
taxes and yet the right to vote for their country is denied. In 2012/2013, more than
17,000 Australians under 18 paid $41 million in taxes in addition to the GST
(Shorten, 2015) however they aren t permitted to decide who manages and spends
their taxes on their behalf. A major cause of the American revolution was the
incentive of No taxation without representation (Otis, 1761) that signified the right of
independence and democracy however Shorten s declaration lies heavily against this
concept. Together with this, numerous people have the firm belief that citizens of the

18. When Gangs Infiltrate our Armed Forces Essay
Throughout the world there are groups that are known for their deviant behavior.
These delinquent groups at times become a major threat due t their actions. In the
United States they are called gangs. As they are continuously putting the safety of
our communities in danger, what can be done when they infiltrate our Armed Force?
Stopping gang members and their affiliates from joining the military must become a
top priority. And even more importantly, they must be weeded out of the military.
Generally, gangs are seen to be in urban areas. Lately there has been an influx of
gang culture spreading into suburban areas. One reason that can be seen for this is
the media. Violent lifestyles are glamorized in TV and the music that is listened...

In order to join some criminal groups, initiates are sometimes expected to beat, rob
or kill people. Other cases force initiates to be beaten by current members without
fighting back or defending themselves; while there is also the tradition of the
person wishing to become a part of the gang having to fight multiple members of
the gang. In both of those cases there is a set amount of time that the things
happen. And for female initiates, they may be forced to go through the violent
rituals as the men, but there is the possibility that she will be required to have sex
with multiple members of the gang. Many people are known to join gangs as a
way to feel acceptance. In doing this there is a sense of belonging, and the belief
that one s well being will be cared about. And that if anything were to come up,
help would be there if ever needed. Others join as a way for protection. Violence is
becoming more of the American culture, and it is only becoming worse. High
schools are a prime example of this. Students act out in violent fits of rage for
questionable reasons. Rather than merely fight someone one on one, they have
their friends help them against their adversary. To many people this is considered
cowardice, yet to them it is more of a form of protection. Not only that, it is a way
to send a message that if one person is affected, everyone in the gang is affected.
When each member is affected there is bound to be tragic
20. Bring Instant Replay to Major League Baseball Essay
Major League Baseball (MLB) has been losing fans for several years. The average
attendance for a MLB game has been decreasing for a number of years. If Major
League Baseball would like to compete with popularity of professional sports such
as Professional football (NFL) and Professional basketball (NBA), they need to
embrace some of technologies that have made those sports so successful in recent
years. Right now, MLB has a replay system used for determining home runs that
are either fair or foul, whether the ball actually left the playing field or whether the
ball was interfered with by a spectator. MLB should have an instant replay system
that can be used for all judgment calls excluding ball and strike calls. MLB could

MLB owners are paying too much for players, stadiums, amenities, etc. to put fans
in seats and I cannot imagine they appreciate going to that level of effort so that the
outcome of a game may get decided on a blown call by an umpire.
If speed of the game is the major sticking point against implementing a fully
executable instant replay system, then why can t other steps be taken to make sure
the game doesn t last too long? Why can t MLB games last 8 innings, or extra
inning rules be tweaked so that games don t last too long. The NFL has taken steps to
improve their product and some of those steps including shortening games and the
NFL remain extremely successful.
Admittedly, implementing instant replay for all levels of baseball would be
economically challenging. However, at the very least, instant replay should be
implemented on the professional level where the athletes are being paid and millions
of fans are paying to watch a good game.
A very recent and well known incident that occurred during the 2010 MLB season
cost Armando Galarraga, a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, a perfect game. The
umpire, Jim Joyce who by all standards was considered a very good umpire, blew a
call late in the game that he later admittedly blew. Had instant replay been a tool that
would have been at his disposal, he could have gotten the call correct and sacrificed
that incredible moment for Armando that has forever been lost.

By mentioning these it has shown that these courts have special status. These courts

Up until 1961 the courts in operation were transitory courts under Article 58 of the
Constitution. After the state[Killian] versus Minister for Finance[1954 IR207]the

Political Aspects.
Under the Constitution the judicial function is the third organ of government and
consists of the interpretation of the Constitution and the law and its application by
rule or discretion to disputes which arise between the State and the individual, and
between individual and another individual. Justice is to be administered in courts,
established by statute law, by judges appointed in the manner prescribed in the

The President appoints judges of the ordinary courts. A judgecannot be a member of

22. Biography Of Frederick Douglas s Role Models For
Business...
Success is, in many ways, a branch of perspective, and yet societal norms seem to
dictate what many view as success. Through my personal experience, and through
the reading of Frederick Douglas I believe that the idea of personal success in
correlation with perspective is a subject worthy of debate. Dissecting the
difference of what many view as success and what may actually be success is
essential for growth personally, and for people collectively. For example; currently
many in our society view success as the acquisition of a copious monetary status,
usually preceded, or followed by recognition for actions, ideas, etc... whether or not
one views these actions or ideas worthy of widespread recognition(IE, success of
socialites who may have not actually contributed to their own success). Many
would believe that figures such as Paris Hilton, and Kim Kardashian, who are
viewed as successful women, are successful based on who they are, instead of
what they ve done, while others believe these women are role models for business
and personal marketing in the 21st century. I myself believe that success is not
based on how any group views you, but on how you view yourself, and measure
your own success; based on where you started in life, your goals, and your level of
pride in your actions. It is my sentiment that we should discuss the topic of what
success means to the individual, and not to the collective. A discussion of this
perspective, I subscribe would allow for all people to
23. Compare And Contrast My Mother As A Child
There is no friendship, no love, like that of the parent for their child , Henry Ward
Beecher. According to Goldberg and Carlson (762), parent child relationships are
affected by age. Thus, had anyone told me that my mother loved me and that we
would grow to become fond of each other as best of friends, I would not have
believed them. During my late puberty and early teenage years, the relationship
between my mother and I became highly strained. I perceived my mother as an
antagonist and one without any consideration for me. As a child, I thought that my
mother did not loveme, because she did not behave in a manner that suited my
opinion about parental love. I thought that she was antagonistic, a miser, quarrelsome,
excessively curious and concerned. However, this perceptionhas since changed with
age, as I now think highly of her. I believe that she is a mentor, a meticulous spender,
a great advisor as well as a loving, caring and responsible parent. Thus, this essay
seeks to compare and contrast my opinion about my mother as a child and as an adult.
My opinion of my mother as a child is different from my opinion of my mother as
an adult several years later. As a child, I had formed a negative perception of my
mother. I believed that she was antagonistic and strict for no good reason. I could
not understand why she would not agree to most of my requests, even simple ones
such as going out to play. I felt that she always gave me limited time to play. In fact,
I could hardly
24. Testing Safety For A Laboratory Environment
Introduction
Working in a laboratory can be one of the most dangerous jobs to perform if you
are not aware of the necessary precautions that need to be taken. Two of the main
issues that can arise in the laboratory are improper use of sharp object and use of
chemical. It is very important that proper lab safety skills are conducted to prevent
potential incidents from occurring. Lab safety is not only to protect you from
incidents but it is also to protect the people around you. Safety should always be first
priority. There are three main topics that should always be practiced when working in
a lab setting, Proper handwashing, safety techniques for yourself and others, and how
to properly clean/dispose of hazardous material. After this lab, the expected result is a
better understanding on how to properly conduct yourself in a laboratory environment.
Methods and Materials
The first topic addressed is how to properly wash your hands. The first unit of the
lab consists of proper handwashing etiquettes. Proper handwashing in the laboratory
requires running water, soap, and paper towels. Before washing one s hands, one
should make sure all hand jewelry is taken off. Once the faucet is turned on, one
should wet his/her hands before adding soap. After the hands have been wet and
soap has been applied, one should thoroughly scrub his/her hands together for at least
20 seconds. A nail brush may also be used to clean up under the nails. After rubbing
the hands

Next, the barriers that prevent open visitation and the implications for practice will
be acknowledged. The main barriers preventing open visitation that will be briefly
introduced (a detailed discussion will occur in the later portion of the text), and
include skewed nursing perceptions, gaps in knowledge about the beneficial effects
of unrestrictive family presence, and lack of formal visitation policies. It will be
argued that the main implication for practice is decreased patient and family
satisfaction resulting from incongruent visitation practices (Mitchell, Chaboyer,
Burmeister Foster, 2009). Finally, the solution of educating nurses about the
benefits of an open visitation policy on patients and families will be proposed.
Rationale for the solution will be provided. Purpose statement and aims. The
introduction will provide context for the following purpose statement: the purpose
of this review article is to gain a better understanding of how critical care patients
and families can benefit from open visitation policies. The review article aims to
answer the following three inquiries: How do nurses perceive open visitation and
how do these perceptions impact visitation practices? What are the perceived
advantages and disadvantages of open visitation for patients and families? What
considerations need to be made when developing a
26. Adaptive Leadership Essay
Due to its purpose, the military has always been known to produce quality leaders.
From George Washington to John F. Kennedy, the list goes on and on. The
military s rich history has afforded scholars the opportunity to dissect how
leadership is developed in the military. People can look to the military for guidance
on effective leadership because officers ... are trained for high stakes positions at a
young age and are sometimes thrown into those roles with no warming. (The
Different Ways Military Experience Prepares Managers for Leadership, p. 82)
According to Professor Michael Useem author of Four Lessons in Adaptive
Leadership, leadership development is best derived from the military as the
environment creates a culture of readiness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author should not focus the paper from a military stand point but rather build
his point from a boots on the ground approach. What is meant by this is the Navy
and Air Force were both left out of the article. It is known facts that the Army and
Marine Corps are the United States muscle while the Air Force and Navy and the
brains of the operations. By excluding two of the four military branches the author
does not have the proof that an adaptive leadership style is the military s leadership
style. Mr. Useem begins arguing his four points on the military s preference on
leadership by stating leaders must be ready and willing to meet the troops.
Although this point makes logical sense, more is required in order to be adaptive.
An employee will continue to do their work or meet a deadline regardless of a
leader stopping by to shake hands. If a leader wants to be adaptive they must be
willing to roll their sleeves up and get involved in projects. This projects a leader
who realizes that walking the walk is more important than talking the talk. Although
stopping by to get personal with employees might love seem individuals with a
warm and fuzzy feeling seeing a leader do the work that normal employees do
portrays that the leader is there because not only are they
27. Essay about Virtù in Machiavelli’s Prince
For most contemporary readers, NiccolГІ Machiavelli is a name synonymous with
deceit, cunning, and manipulation, a reputation which stems almost entirely from his
authorship of one of the central works of modern political philosophy: The Prince.
Given this image, it is incredibly ironic that the Italian word virtГ№ and its
derivatives appear no less than seventy two times throughout the work. While the
translator goes to great lengths to adapt this versatile word to the context of the
situation, it is nevertheless clear that virtГ№ is closely related to its English cognate
virtue. This, along with the political nature of Machiavelli s work, shapes the
discourse about the nature of princedoms into one in which the author explores the
more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is, however, a troubling aspect to this kind of scale, leading to an important
question for those seeking more virtГ№. If one copies the actions of another
person, how is it that one can ever be greater than the person whom he imitates; at
the very least, how can human history itself escape being a story of increasingly
mediocre statesmen? The only way to resolve this seeming issue is to understand
how Machiavelli first conceives of virtГ№. In Chapter Six, the majority of the
discussion regarding virtГ№ centers on the value of the abstract notions of skill and
strength of character. Even in the passages that deal with Moses, Romulus, Cyrus,
Theseus, and Hiero, the only tangible, imitable advice the reader receives is to
disband an old militia, drop old friends, and arise at an opportune moment. This
hardly seems enough to take over a state given the immense difficulties with which
such an action is associated. Machiavelli, at least in the beginning, has removed the
scaffolding from the building he has created, leaving the reader to wonder what
exactly he should replicate to gain virtГ№.
Chapter Eight provides a crucial insight with respect to virtГ№ in the work. In it,
Machiavelli advises the reader that one ought not, of course, to call it virtГ№ [virtue
or manliness] to massacre one s fellow citizens, to

he made the creatures and the winged animals and gave them their names Coyote,
Grizzly Bear, Deer, Fox, Eagle, the four Wolf Brothers, Magpie, Bluejay,
Hummingbird, and all the others. When he had completed his work, the Creator
called the creature individuals to him. I am will leave you, said. Be that as it may, I
will return. When I come back once more, I will make individuals. They will be
responsible for you. The Great Chief came back to his home in the sky, and the

the Creator left. It occurred as the Creator had prognosticated. Wherever the things

him: From now on you can execute just the individuals who ridicule you.
Everywhere Coyote went, he improved the world for the creature individuals and
better for the people yet to be made. When he had completed his work, he realized
that the time had come to meet the Creator once more. Coyote believed that he had

The history of Buddhism was similar to other religions, it was also characterized by
the development of a large amount of movements, schisms, and integration. Since
that, majority of Buddhism had separated into Chinese Buddhism (including China,
Japan), Southern Buddhism (including Vietnam), Tibetan Buddhism. In 21st century,
the distribution of buddhist is: Chinese Buddhism 67.3% (200 million), Southern
Buddhism 28.0% (84 million), Tibetan Buddhism 3.4% (10 million), outside of Asia
1.3% (4.8 million). 2 Scientific Contributions of Buddhism One of the most basic
tenets of Buddhism is as a means of eliminating human suffering (Moksha). Diseases,
as one of the inescapable forms of suffering, explicitly normally explicitly included
within this field, become one kind of opponent that buddhists were dealing with.3
Therefore, in many Buddhism religious texts, numerous words concerning illness,
healing, and medicine were frequently mentioned. With early development of
Buddhism in several centuries, a large amount of medical theories and healing
methods were added into Buddhism texts.4 Henceforth, with the spread of the
religion and translations, those wealths effectively extended to much of Asia, and
also attracted people putting faith on Buddhism. This is one of contributions of
Buddhism on medical science, other contributions includes Measurement of time
(depending of astronomy), Logic and Philosophy, Agriculture and Industry, and so on.

Achieving a ZEB without the grid would be very difficult, as the current generation
of storage technologies is limited.
Off grid buildings cannot feed their excess energy production back onto the grid to
offset other energy uses. As a result, the energy production from renewable resources
must be oversized at all times. In many cases (especially during the summer), excess
generated energy cannot be used.
Assumption: We assume that excess on site generation can always be sent to the
grid. However, the grid may not always need the excess energy. In this scenario, on
site energy storage would become necessary.

Typical examples of various supply side renewable energy technologies available
for ZEBs today include PV, solar hot water, wind, hydroelectric, and biofuels. All
these renewable sources are favorable over conventional energy sources such as coal

technology within the building footprint or at the site. Table 1 shows this ranking in

Joyce Carol Oates s story, Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been is about
Connie, fifteen, who is preoccupied with her appearance. Her mother gets upset with
her for admiring herself so frequently, however Connie doesn t seem to care much for
her mother s opinions. Connie s mother is constantly comparing Connie to her sister
June who is twenty four. June is neat and responsible. Their father works a lot and
seems to ignore his daughters. Their mother on the other hand is constantly nagging
Connie.
Because June goes out with her girlfriends, their mother allows Connie to go out
with her best friend Betty. Betty s father drives Connie and Betty to a shopping
center in town but never asks questions about how the girls spent their night. Connie
and Betty sometimes sneak across the highway, dodging cars so that they can go to a
drive in restaurant to listen to music and meet boys.
One night when the girls went to the drive in, a boy named Eddie invites Connie to
eat dinner with him. Connie agrees and leaves her friend at the counter telling her
that she will meet back up with her by eleven o clock. As Eddie and Connie walk
through the parking lot, she notices a man in a gold convertible. He smiles at her and
says, Gonna get you, baby. Connie doesn t show him much interest, and Eddie is
oblivious to the man.

they go to a family barbeque. After relaxing in the yard for some time she goes inside
34. Analysis Of Rappaccini s Daughter

Professor Saunders
ENGL 231
October 23rd, 2014
The Theme of Love in Rappaccini s Daughter Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story
Rappaccini s Daughter holds the theme of love at its forefront. The story delineates
the struggles, both internal and external, that Giovanni Guasconti faces when
courting a young woman named Beatrice Rappaccini. Beatrice s love of a plant and
her father s love of science are conflicts that also highlight the theme of love. Along
with these conflicts, Hawthorne uses the theme of love to pose the question of
whether or not love is worth fighting for as well as critiquing a tragic flaw in
romantic relationships. These elements combine together to make a compelling
argument that love is simply not worth the struggle it imposes. The first conflict that
arises in the short story is the internal conflict of Giovanni. Giovanni moves from
his home in order to study at the University of Padua and sees Beatrice Rappaccini
underneath the window of his new home. The conflict Giovanni faces stems from
his affection and blooming love for Beatrice. Giovanni sees Beatrice s beauty as
brilliant, so vivid in its character, that she glowed amid the sunlight (pg. 7).
However, her beauty is rivaled by her horror. Whenever a creature is near her
breath, it dies. Giovanni begins questioning whether or not loving Beatrice is a wise
decision. Her horror keeps him at bay while her beauty and her personality draw him
in closer. The second conflict that

Summary
The Geneva Conventions are a set of rules ,for countries that have taken part in the
conventions, to conduct war by. They state how soldiers, sailors, POW s, and
civilians are to be treated during times of war between two opposing states or
countries. They also show what is required to have the Conventions apply to each
person. In the article The President Is Not Bound by the Geneva Conventionsin
Dealing with Terrorists by Jay Bybee, a united states appeals court judge, he talks
about how terrorists should be treated under the rules of the Geneva Conventions.
Bybee makes a point to say that terrorist groups like al Qaeda are not a state so
therefore the conventions do not apply to them. Bybee makes a point to say that even

Bybee states that the Geneva Conventions are meant to govern what goes on in
war between two states, not between a state and a non state group. Even though
Afghanistan has been a part of the Geneva Conventions since 1956, he says that
the Taliban that is running the state party is an extremist group and is also
illegitimate therefore it does not fall under Geneva III. Bybee also informs that
neither does the al Qaeda terrorist group because it is not a state so therefore it does
not fall under Geneva III, and the president does not have to follow the the same
rules that the Geneva Conventions require. Bybee argues that it is for the president
s discretion as to whether or not we can suspend the Geneva Conventions when it
comes to any terrorist group. He shows that many presidents in the past have
suspended treaties and this is not any different. If the times call for it the president
can call for a treaty to be ignored. When the president is questioned on his choice he
is checked by the supreme court and then given approval. The president also has the
power to restore the obligations that are required when the state is back to its original
form and meeting its treaty standards. ( Bybee

There is a myth that head lice only affect the poor or uneducated children. This is
furthest from the truth, these creatures affects everyone regardless of the socio
economic status of the family. Lice are transmitted from individual to individual,
and are not preventable. Once they grasp onto the scalp, the female lice reproduce
an average of ten new eggs daily. There are various ways to treat this condition with
vinegar and Listerine with a proven track record of eliminating these annoying pests.

It is common for children to share items in a classrooms setting for example; this is

Listerine Treatment
Listerine is a proven method to treat lice; it is effective due to its content of alcohol,
eucalyptol, thymol, and menthol and methyl salicylate. These ingredients are toxic
for the lice, but safe for the user. This procedure eliminates the bonding agent that lice
eggs stick to on the hair shaft. Treat the affected by washing followed by toweling
and drying the hair. Massage the Listerine into the child s head and hair this is the
safest way to avoid eye contact. The next step is covering the head with a plastic cap
or towel. Leave the treatment on the child s head overnight or for a few hours.
Comb the hair out with a lice comb, and shampoo the hair after. Normally infected
condition is resolved with one use, but you can repeat the treatment again if you are
concern there might be remaining nits. Vinegar Treatment Vinegar is widely used
for various purposes, and is highly effective in treating head lice. The child hair
should be shampooed and towel dried as normal, and followed by equal amounts of
white vinegar and water. This solution should be massage in to the head gently. The
mixture acts as a dissolving agent eliminating the dead lice, and removing any
remaining nits. An added advantage of using this method, the

Paradoxes are ideas that seem to be in opposition to one another but are mutually
needed to function. In Plato s Republic he discusses several paradoxes. While
reading The Republic we can see which side of these paradoxes Plato favors. We
find which side he feels should be stressed so that we may live in a reasonable and
safe society and be better human beings. There are three categories in which these
paradoxes have been divided into: ethical, metaphysical and political. Plato was a
legendary Athenian philosopher. His main influence was his teacher, Socrates, whom
he thought died unjustly. The Republic was written in dialogues narrated by Socrates.
These dialogues were Socrates teachings as best Plato could remember them. His...

When Plato was thinking out his Republic he felt society took president over the
individual. The whole is greater than it s parts , he said. However, Plato also said,
you need to balance the order of society with the rights of the individual. Plato felt
in a natural state people would war against on another. That is why a civil or social
contract is needed to keep man from killing one another. Man would then enter into
this social contract for protection, to trade goods and services with others and
simply to have their needs taken care of. For this social contract to be successful
each individual must have a responsibility and an obligation to his fellow man and
follow the rules of the contract. In this way the individual will gain but society
will prevail. It is a give and take proposition. People are working for the benefit of
society and individuals benefit from working for the society. Plato wanted to set
up an interdependent society where we would service one another with
competence, where each one would better themselves by working for the society
and fulfilling different needs. Everyone would be working for the betterment of
society and thereby helping themselves. We are stronger together than we are
individually. In the paradox of order and change, Plato favors order. In Plato s
Republic he speaks of a specific social order and feels that there are absolute laws and
reasons without exceptions to keep that order. He feels
39. Dna And Pyrimidines
DNA is a double helix structure which helps to keep the structure of the molecule
stable. DNA has a phosphate sugar back bone and covalent bond which also help
with the stability of the DNA. DNA also has coiling which is also very helpful with
the stability of the molecule. DNA has two types of bases, these are known as purines
and pyrimidines. Purines are adenine and guanine and the pyrimidines are thymine
and cytosine. Purines are double ringed structures whereas pyrimidines are a single
ring structure. Adenine is complementary to thymine and cytosine is complementary
to guanine. Due to the different complementary base pairings within the two groups it
allows information to be transcribed. In between the different bases there is hydrogen
40. Titration Of A Concentration And The Acid Base Titration
Summary
The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of a concentration and the
acid base titration. In part A of this experiment, the molarity of an assigned
concentration which was 0.040, was found using formulas that represent molarity.
Part B of this experiment, which was titration of an acid and base, was found by a
series of steps that involved dropping Sodium Hydroxide from a buret into vinegar,
until the perfect shade of pale pink occurred. With the Phenolphthalein, too much acid
causes the base to turn a dark pink. The molarity was then found of the titration. So
the end results will determine M HCH3O2.
Introduction A solutionis a homogenous mixture of a solvent and one or more
solutes. The substance that dissolves in the solute is the solvent, and the solute is
what gets dissolved. Solutions can vary in concentration in great ratio differences.
It is very important to be able to correctly prepare solutions. There is always a
proper amount of solution to be made to have a desired amount of produced. So in
the medical world, too much solute will most likely have harmful effects like
overdosing and too little could result in ineffective treatment. Also the money spent
on solutions could also be another reason for correct preparation of solutions,
because the success of the drug has an effect on future sales and profit. Solutions that
are dilute, are weak, and solutions that are concentrated are strong. A precise means
of describing concentration is 1.
41. Why I Became A Gang Member
Before I was a mathematics major, a tutor in college for math and physics, or even
a high school graduate, I was a gang member. I belonged to a local street gang in
my community since the age of fifteen. I have survived, seen, and done things that
people only see in movies. I got involved with gangs at the young age of eleven.
Growing up in my neighborhood I didn t really have a choice I got raised into it, I
became a product of my environment influenced by the streets.
At school in the classroom I was always a very intelligent person, a 4.0 student.
However, during lunch time and after school I was a gang leader. My teachers knew it
and never could understand why. They tried to give me advise but I never listened to
anyone. I myself did not understand why I was a gang member. All I knew was
people respected me and I was no longer a nerd people picked on.
I was known to be a violent and aggressive person, always looking for a fight in
school. I felt invisible with my reputation people knew I knew how to box and
wouldn t mess with me. Along with the fellow gang members when I spoke they
listened and no one was of the contrary. At home however, I was not of charge. My
mom always seemed to be mad so I disliked to be home, I instead roamed the streets
witch had made me the alpha.
I never knew what being a gangster would lead up to, never crossed my mind the
change it would bring to my life so far it had only positive impacts. Girls thought I
was cool for the first time and no

Personal Philosophy of Supervision
I believe that each student is a person who needs a safe, caring, and stimulating
environment in which they can grow emotionally, intellectually, physically, and
socially. As a teacher it is my desire that each student reached their fullest potential
in each of these areas by providing them a warm, safe, caring and cooperative
environment in which they work and play in. As a future administrator the
philosophy and the game changes quite a bit. As a supervisor you must know where
you are going before you can ever get there. The main attraction of education is, that it

Although the supervisor controls the situation, directive informational still allows
the teacher some say in how situations will be handled. This is a great tool for a
supervisor to keep his staff informed and allow them to still have control over what
is going to happen in their classroom. Post reflection will also be needed when using
the directive informational approach. This will be a great time for the staff member
and supervisor to get together and reflect on what has been happening in the
classroom, and whether the new strategy has been successful or not.
As a teacher I believe students need to find interest in all aspects of life. Curriculum
developed around students interest will motivate and stimulate a passion to keep
growing and learning. Students need to have input and generate ideas of their own.
Set Goals so their lives are much richer when they obtain, or strive for these personal
goals. This is excerpt of my current philosophy of education on file at my current
school. Furthermore, Philosophy of education has an important role to play in
preparing for a career in teaching .(Winch, 2012, p.38) As a future supervisor my
beliefs are shifting as I continue to take courses toward my masters in education. I
believe that all teachers can teach, just as all students can learn. By using the
approach of directive informational a supervisor will be

ABSTRACT Nowadays, there are a lot of Airlines companies and Turkish Airlines
has recently became of the fast growing player in the industry. Being the voted
Europe s Best Airline at the 2014 Skytrax Passengers Choice Awards, they have
built a very strong quality standard and gradually expending with over 200
destination worldwide. The main purpose of this report is to focus on the

What hierarchy of evidence is used when making decisions about clinical
interventions?
While research has long paralleled medicine, the use of strong research evidence as
the basis for clinical action is more recent (Houser, 2015). The historically accepted
hierarchy of evidence separates evidence into levels of trust, from highest to lowest
(Greenhalgh, 2010):
1.Systematic reviews of randomized controlled trails
2.Randomized controlled trails
3.Controlled clinical trials
4.Observational studies (cohort studies or case controlled studies)
5.Case studies, expert opinion, bench studies

Give a brief description of each section: The IMRAD format is the most common
format for scientific papers and includes an introduction, methods, results, and
discussion section (Greenhalgh, 2010). The introduction section includes a summary
of the author s reasons for developing the study; the methods section displays the
author s techniques which include study design and tools for data analysis; the
results section displays the data found by the experiment; then finally, the discussion
section contains the author s interpretation and application of the results (Greenhalgh,
2010).
What is systematic bias? Systematic bias is anything that may artificially make a
change to conclusions drawn from study data and prevent direct evaluation of study
groups (Greenhalgh, 2010). The aim of all good research is the comparison of
changes with target groups while controlling for as many external influences as
possible to ensure reliability of results.
What are the different types of biases to check for in a randomized controlled trial?
Give a brief explanation of each. According to Greenhalgh (2010), there are four
kinds of bias which must be addressed during randomized controlled trials (p. 52):
1)Selection
45. The Multiplier Online Games ( Mog )
1. Introduction:
Multiplier Online Games (MOG) are one kind of real time applications. These are
developed using either centralized architecture (Client Server Architecture) also
known as traditional architecture or using distributed architecture (Peer to Peer
Architecture). Some games are developed using a combination of these two
architectures known as Mirrored Server Architecture (Hsu, Ling, Li, Kuo, 2003).
In general, games are two types. One is role based playing games where players
role is fixed. Other is real time strategy based games where player s actions
dynamic. The Quake, Galaxy Star Wars, EVE, Warcraft are some examples of
multiplayer online games (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). For entertainment purpose and for
a virtual experience, people are showing greater interest in MOG. In recent years,
organizations started to using distributed architecture or Peer to Peer (P P)
architecture for developing MOG due to its robustness, scalability, and flexibility. The
well known traditional client server architecture has limited scalability and robustness
and it requires the high cost to maintain servers when online players are massive
(Merabti Rhalibi, 2004).
The MOG requires two kinds of platforms. One is physical platform contain hardware
and network. Another is logical platform focuses on system architecture such as
software development for players and hosts according to hardware management. The
theme of the logical platform is providing best gaming software with
46. Cyber Crime And Cyber Terrorism
Cyber risks can be divided into the following groups (Marsh, 2013): 1. Physical
loss of systems Physical information technologies systems, i.e., computers, servers
and other electronic equipment are required for the cyber activity. Consequently, it
is very important to consider the risks related to the damage or loss of the physical
electronic equipment. Risks can be for example, internal water damage in the
office building damaging the computers and other equipment or fire in server
room as a result of temperature change and other risks. 2. Cyber crime and cyber
terrorism Cyber crime is illegal actions taken by criminals for financial gain, which
is done by the use of the internet and other electronic systems in order to illegally
access or attack information and services used by business and citizens
(CabinetOffice, 2011). Acts that are directed towards the influencing or defeating the
particular government or state are called cyber terrorism. Businesses operating in
areas that are linked to the government, for example communications, transport,
health must be most concerned to cyber terrorism; as they are the biggest target for
a cyber terrorism attacks (Marsh, 2013). Cyber crime cost of UK business and
citizens is valued at ВЈ27 billion annually. A considerable portion of this cost comes
from the theft of intellectual property, which is estimated at ВЈ9.2 billion. The main
loser as a result of cyber crime is UK business which cost is estimated at ВЈ21
billion. Main
47. Why Companies Use Artificial Trans Fat
Most people consume 25 35 percent of their total daily calorie count from fat;
however, only 10 percent should come from saturated fats. There are two different
types of trans fat, artificial and naturally occurring. In order to make artificial trans
fat, an industrial process adds hydrogen to liquid vegetable oil, to make it more
solid. This type of trans fatraises the LDL (bad) cholesterollevel and lowers the HDL
(good) cholesterol levels. This increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, which
are the leading killers of both men and women, and is associated with a higher risk
of developing type II diabetes. Artificial trans fat doesn t help the body in any way;
however, the one counterexample is naturally occurring trans fat. Naturally... Show

The reason companies use artificial trans fat instead of naturally occurring trans fat
is because of a few reasons. One reason is because naturally occurring trans fat is
produced in the gut of some animals and food made from these animals, making it
hard to get. Artificial trans fat is easy to obtain and is inexpensive. Another reason
companies use artificial trans fat is because it gives food a more desirable taste
and texture, making the food more addicting. Most fast food restaurants use this
trans fat to deep fry their food. By doing this, the oil can be used many times in
commercial fryers, instead of having to constantly change the oil. Some of the foods
that contain artificial trans fat are baked goods, snacks, fried food, any type of
refrigerated dough, creamer and margarine. When looking at the nutrition facts panel
of these foods, 0 grams trans fat could mean that the product contains anywhere
between 0 grams and 0.5 grams trans fat. Even if the package says 0 grams trans fat,
by looking at the ingredients list a person can tell if the product has trans fat. If the
ingredients list says partially hydrogenated oils then the product contains trans
