Samuel Clemens AKA Mark Twain
Samuel Clemens, otherwise known as Mark Twain, was one of the most prestigious authors of the
19th century. Growing up he d always spend time with his uncle s slaves. The slaves would always tell
stories and Twain could not get enough of these tales. At the age of eleven, Twain got a job as a Printer
s Apprentice and got the opportunity to increase awareness of what was happening around the world.
When he turned 18 he headed out east to work with several different newspapers. He got bored of this
job quickly and after a few years he found himself working for a riverboat on the Mississippi river.
Due to the Civil War this job was shut down. In search of a new job he volunteered to join a
Confederate group called the Marion Rangers. He hated this so he quit two weeks later. Being jobless
and desperate he traveled west to look for new work. After quite a few odd jobs and get rich quick
schemes, including his failed try during the gold rush, Twain finally found gold of his own when his
first short story Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog was published. This story was the perfect example
of regionalism, much like all his work. When he used regionalism he made you feel as if you were in
Missouri by the way he wrote it and the slang he used. This regionalist style of literature would show
many authors in the 2nd part of the 19th century how to write in a regional style of literature. All
Twain s years of perfecting regionalism also gave him the ability to write in other forms of

Weight Watchers Plan
Weight Watchers is an international company that was founded to help their customers with losing and
maintaining their weight. They also have a large amount of dieting products that customers can
purchase to aid them in maintaining successful and long lasting weight loss.
The original Weight Watchers plan invites members to weekly meetings where members hold group
sessions, helping dieters form a network of support with people sharing similar experiences. Upon
arrival, each person checks their weight privately. Meetings are conducted by a trained Meeting
Leader who motivates and offers the group support through information about nutrition and fitness.
Other programs include but are not limited to The Flex Program, The Core Program and the
Turnaround Program. Each program can be tailored to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The strength however of the Weight Watchers plan is not to be found in the underpinning diet itself,
but in the need that all dieters have for information, advice, help and, above all, support in what is
typically a long, and at times difficult, struggle to remove those stubborn pounds.
Weight Watchers has been around, but it has been until very recently that they developed a special
Points system, which consists of assigning a point value to foods based on the amount of kilo joules,
fat and (in theory) the amount of fibre each food contains. All this is estimated by using a patented
formula.
This diet program allows you to record your points in an online journal if you are following the flex
plan. It allows you to see all of the foods on the core plan and have access to a point calculator to
figure the points in specific foods that you have nutritional info. This is great for people who do not
have the time to attend meetings or who do not need motivation to stick with their plan but just need

The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos Essay
The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos
John Demos in a sense presents themes that are entirely familiar and conventional. The themes of sin,
retribution, and repentance are very prevalent in his writing. The loss of piety, the failure of spiritual
nerve, the absolute necessity of reform; and the certainty of God s punishment if reform was not
achieved appear throughout his book (Demos). (In this instance, Eunice s failure to return to her native
land is putting her at risk in the eyes of God). For approximately 60 years John Williams who had
been a captive for almost two years, and is one of the main characters of the story writes different
letters, sermons, in an effort to reach the captive daughter. According to John Williams, God ... Show

The order of these writings is important as are the time and the setting in which each one was
composed. These writings reveal much of what captivity meant to him. In addition, Demos
incorporates parallels from the Bible such as biblical passages to illustrate or compare the return of
Naomi to Bethlehem in Stephen Williams sermon to put pressure on his sister Euncie to return to
Deefield (Demos 191). Noemi, in effect was redeemed by returning to her home (Demos 192).
The circumstances of captivity were as varied as the number of people involved on both sides.
Prisoner redemption was the process of prisoner exchange that had long been unfair. Captives were
subject to ransom, trade for other key people, and sometimes prisoners decided to remain in captivity
since escape was very dangerous. Acculturation which included adoption and repatriation were
choices for some of them as well. For example, Eunice s inability to speak English and her personal
appearance announce her loyalty to other standards (Demos 146). She had been fully integrated or
Indianized (Demos 142). Eunice comes of age in her adoptive community, secure, and increasingly
well integrated. The trauma of capture including as it did the deaths of her mother and

Society s Preoccupation With Risk
The risk society has created a risk awareness in the Criminal Justice System. Professionals have
become anxious of the hazards presented by modernisation , new innovative strategies to deal with the
risks, and technological advances. These developments have caused uncertainty, creating further risks
and a collective vulnerability to risk awareness (Giddens, 1991). This assignment will critically
analyse the way in which society s preoccupation with risk, influences the way in which the probation
service and police work.
The first part of this paper will discuss the significate changes to probation practice, by reviewing
probation history from the 1960s in England and Wales. Discussing how influential penal trends,
policy and practice evolution, have resulted in social work and probation work training becoming
detached (Robinson and McNeill, 2004). Retributivism theory in a culture of risk will be studied, with
the recommendations to punishment examined. The what works agenda (Martinson, 1974) will be
discussed progressing on to the emergence of populist punitiveness , and critically examining the
correlation with risk theory. Focusing on the progression of probation practice in late modernity, and
the use of risk assessments, it focuses on the risk instruments of clinical, actuarial and mixed
approaches. Attention is also given to Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), and
how the probation service and police, work together to protect the public

Age Of Earth
The age of the Earth can be accurately determined. Through various methods of relative dating, and
absolute radiometric dating, scientists can very precisely determine the age of the Earth. The key to
the age of our planet lies not in one evidence, but in the cross examination of multiple evidences. In
this paper, we will explore those evidences and find that the secret of Earth s age lives in the
relationship between them. By putting the pictures of fossils in chronological order in the activity
Using Fossils to Tell Deep Time , we discovered that fossils can be a valuable tool in relative dating.
Due to the principle of horizontal originality, we know that layers of sediment are deposited
horizontally; because of this, we can extrapolate that fossils of the same species will ... Show more

The hotpots create islands; and when the tectonic plates move, the island moves with it. This creates
an opening above the hotspot, which allows the hotspot to create more islands. The older the islands
are, the smaller they get because they have more time to be eroded. Also, the older the islands will be
further away from the hotspot because they have been on the tectonic plates longer and therefore have
had more time to move. This phenomena shows relative age because we can see the age of the Earth
through the size of the islands and the distance they are from the hotspot. In the third activity, we
found that mid ocean ridges are the birthing place of tectonic plates. The isochron map showed us that
the closer to the ridges, the younger the oceanic floor is. The closer to a continent, the older the rock
is. The reason for this is because the mid ocean ridges create crust, and where the oceanic crust meets
the continental crust, the crust is destroyed (subduction zone). This shows relative age because the
oceanic crust s age can be seen relative to the mid ocean ridges and the subduction

Abstract
This trust paper explores the 2013 United States Federal Government shutdown incident along with
the trust theory as it relates to this issue. The more recent shutdown was contributed to the split party
lines and Congress resisting to pass a budget with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in place. Trust
between government and constituents have been a long struggle as public servants work to build trust
after an issue like the Federal Government shutdown occurs. The research provided in the paper
analyzes theories on the reasons for the lack of trust and how public servants can build trust. Not only

Analysis Of The Writings Of Washington Irving, Nathaniel...
Review of writings of Washington Irving, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Edgar Allan Poe.
By Mantegbosh Letyibelu
Irving, Poe, and Hawthorne were arguably some of the most popular writers of the 19th century
(Dincer 223; Lauter 2505). All three of them are known for their short essays and their advocacy to
make writing a full fledged and legitimate profession. Their writings show that they were hugely
influenced by the Romantic Movement (romanticism); a movement in art, literature, music,
philosophy, politics and culture towards focusing on the individual, the subjective, and the
spontaneous (Dincer 218). Romanticist writing encouraged contemplation and self awareness, direct
contact with nature, and a focus on and an exploration of inner feelings (Dincer 223). Yet, they had
distinct writing style, focus, and theme. While Irving was more of a light romantic writer, a writing
style characterized by optimism, Poe and Hawthorne are widely considered dark romantic Authors
whose writings were characterized by pessimism that sees the world as full of dark, evil, suffering,
horror, and mystery. While Irving s writing focused more on satire and humor, Poe Hawthorne s
writing was more about evil, crime, sin, and mystery. Moreover, Irving seem to be nostalgic aristocrat
with huge interest in the landscape, folklore, and the past (2506), whereas Poe and Hawthorne had a
contrary view of the past (Liptak).

WMA s usually require a Big Game WMA Permit in order to hunt big game, in addition to the regular
hunting and big game licenses. Big game typically requires a tag for each animal harvested. Tags must
be purchased in addition to the hunting license, and the number of tags issued to an individual is
typically limited. In order to hunt or trap small game on WMAs individuals are required to have one
of the following permits in addition to the regular hunting or trapping license: Annual Senior Citizen

noted. WMAs with a WF after the name require either an Annual Small Game and Waterfowl permit;

Persuasive Speech Against Sexual Trafficking
People say that humans should be free from slavery, violence, fear and abuses. What comes to mind
when one says Slavery? Most people generally think about the past when african americans were
forced into slavery, to this day slavery does is exist but in a form of sexual trafficking. In this
persuasive speech I will be arguing to go against sexual trafficking, hoping to expose the ugly truth
about the dark industry. Even though sexual trafficking is not exactly slavery victims of sexual
trafficking are portrayed as slaves, sexual trafficking also does more than just physical damage, it
inflicts social impacts. Sexual trafficking is the second largest source of illegal income worldwide first

The definition of a slave is a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them.
Even though people may not be thinking as sexual trafficking as an act of slavery, I think that it is
because like slavery you are transporting an individual against their will for a benefit for another
individual, Sex trafficking involves an individual being kidnapped, drugged, and raped thus why it is
modern slavery. Like slavery, sexual trafficking pimps use force to ensure that victims comply as well
when being kidnapped from their homes violence is applied in which slavery has the same concept.
Pimps like to beat down on the victims to a point in which they have low self worth, pride and dignity.
Therefore also relating to slavery as one is using force to make one feel down on themselves to get
more of what they want and to also leave a message that they are greater than you. Some people say
that sexual trafficking is one s only source of income that without this business many people would
not get income this is true however, selling victims for your own benefit goes against morals as you
are putting a price tag on one s freedom for your benefit. This proves that sexual trafficking is not only
a modern day slavery act but also goes against morals for

An Article On Fair Trade Coffee Essay
This article contains information comprised from analyzing the research of fair trade coffee. This
including studying four main authors and two other articles for background information. The articles
examined the effects fair trade and organic coffee production methods effected local farmers. The
authors focused on meeting with the local farmers and the supervisors of cooperatives. The areas that
were studied consist of countries within Central America and Mexico. The articles addressed some of
the concerns the farmers had in fair trade production methods vs. conventional. The authors explain
both the benefits and the drawbacks of fair trade certification. In one of the articles the research of
Krasnozhon, Simpson, and Block (2015) took on a different approach; as their focus was not solely on
coffee nor did they personally interview any farmers. Instead their work reviewed some of the
processes and regulations in free vs. fair trade. Ultimately, the authors collectively emphasize the view
of fair trade should not be as a function to repair all the issues, but that it is more like the proper
foundation to build on.
How Does Fair Trade Coffee Impact Local Farmers
Across the globe, we have become relatively dependent on coffee as a common beverage within our
society. It is what we drink everyday on our way to work and school. We gather with family and

When most people see the face of a sad child they begin to feel empathy for the child or feel sadness

during Act 1, Scene 5 reading a letter from Macbeth. She reads about the prophecy of him being the

Here we can already see that she seems to be an ambitious, fearless, and cold person who would do
anything to achieve what she wants. When the messenger tells her that the king is coming to their

Elie didn t write the book to tell us what is right or wrong. Elie wrote the book to tell the history of his
people. Elie explains himself as a messenger of the dead among the living (Harry James Cargas 34 In
Conversation with Elie Wiesel ). So which is better ? Watching over each other in the while the icy
winds hit your face while the other sleeps? Maybe you d rather avoid the blows from one of your
loved ones. Elie doesn t tell us what s right either being selfless or selfish. Both are right as human
nature is to be selfish. They were living such a primitive life style making it hard to care for one
another. After while each when back to their primal instincts thinking of themselves in an attempt to
survive. Elies outlook is quite interesting he explains society is composed of three simple categories:
the killers, the victims, and the bystanders. (Weisel paragraph 13 perils of indifference ). Elie has such
a forgiving outlook as if the nazis were just a part of society as if it just had to happen like it wasn t a
big deal as if it was just apart of life. He wrote the book to let the reader know that there isnt rights
and wrongs in life. Is it better to be generous and offer your father to take watch first? Maybe its better
to only stay with him for the purpose of being more likely to survive with him. Victor Frankl another
holocaust survivor explains his thoughts through his survival. He talk a lot about the things he clung
and held on too in his thoughts Then i grasped the meaning of the greatest secret that human poetry
and human thought and belief have to impart he then says My mind still clung to the image of my
wife. A thought came across my mind: I didn t even know if she were still alive. (Frankl 38) Talking a
lot about his own thoughts I think he leaned more toward the thinking of oneself s side. Human nature
is to be selfish while in a primitive state.

only one third of those who suffer will actually be treated. What is panic disorder? Panic disorder is
characterized by panic attacks, which are periods of intense fear, or discomfort, in which four or more
of the following symptoms develop abruptly and reach a peak within 10 minutes: Palpitations,

Most of those who are treated at emergency rooms will be discharged without ever knowing what was
wrong with them. Many patients fear the attack will last indefinitely, however, in reality most panic
attacks peak within ten minutes and then quickly go away. It does seem to the sufferer that those few
minutes are forever due to their overwhelming fear. Because the attacks are such horrible experiences,
most panic disorder patients will then develop anticipatory anxiety, which is known as fear of the fear.
They not only fear the panic attack, itself, but also the anticipation of it. They will obsess over the
possibility they will have more attacks. Even the slightest physical symptom can set off the
anticipatory anxiety and create the fear of fear. In any given month, 5 tenths of our population, or 1
million people will exhibit symptoms of panic disorder. This condition will affect at least one out of
every 75 people worldwide during their lifetime. Two thirds of the sufferers will be women. Panic
disorder typically begins in the late teen years, or the early to mid twenties, however, the disorder can
develop in childhood, middle age or the later years. Panic disorder also appears to be somewhat
heredity; 15 to 17 percent of patients who have close relatives with panic disorder also have the
disorder themselves. The first attack is often preceded by a stressful event the death of someone close,
the breakup of a marriage,

Heartgard Plus Research Paper
Winter for many pet owners is a difficult time. Typically, the exercise level that our pets get during the
summer and warmer months drops off drastically when winter hits and the snow starts. There are
some easy ways to keep your pet both happy and healthy throughout the winter months. First, getting
dogs new toys every winter is always a good idea. A rope or pull toy is a great option because it allows
for indoor tug of war. This is a great way for pets to work out their muscles and is a great way for
them to let out bent up frustration of being stuck indoors. Toys that allow you to place treats inside
them are always a great option as well. This will keep your dog happy and amused for hours,
attempting to get the treat out, with this option ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To alleviate any problems with fussy eaters, the Heartgard medication is supplied in the form of a
tasty chewable treat. These chewables contain beef to make them appetising to the most reticent tablet
taker, but this does mean they are not suitable for dogs with sensitivities to beef. For those delicate
pooches, ordinary Heartgard tablets will need to be bought. Heartgard Plus for dogs contain
Ivermectin, which is an effective controller of many parasites. It is used widely for the treatment of a
wide range of internal parasites in farm animals and in the treatment of dogs who test positive for full
blown heartworm disease. The volume of Ivermectin contained in dog heartworm medicine is so small
that it only eliminates heartworm larvae. Heartgard Plus medication does not prevent larval
heartworms infecting your dog, it stops them living long enough to cause any problem. The way the
heartworm medicine aspect of Heartgard Plus medication works is in a retrospective manner. Each
month your dog is given his chewable and the active ingredient slowly destroys all heartworm larvae
which have infected the blood during the previous thirty days. Because the drug works backwards,
eliminating parasites before they can progress to adulthood, it is crucial that the treatment is given
every month. Otherwise larvae deposited in your dog s bloodstream via a mosquito bite can grow and
eventually reproduce. Although Ivermectin heartworm medications are good at eliminating larvae
which have been in the system longer than a month, their efficiency reduces as the larvae grow.
Alongside an extremely reliable heartworm preventative, Heartgard Plus chewables also contain
Pyrantel, another parasite controller. This one targets roundworm and hookworms. Using Heartguard
Plus for dogs eliminates the need for an additional deworming regime, providing a convenient method
of controlling both intestinal worms and heartworms together. For more

Household members were asked how many times they ate certain foods in the last two days. The
question was given in a short time period, two days rather than two weeks, to prompt respondents to
remember everything they ate and provide accurate results. Members were also asked how much milk
or meat their household consumed in order to measure monthly household consumption of dairy and
meat. The consumption value was then divided by the household s total members in order to establish
the amount consumed per person per month. The study involved two groups. The first group, known

second group, known as the Prospectives , consists of households that applied and were approved to

Asian Americans Academic Success
School Attendance and Family Expectations Among Asian Americans Race, gender and education are
status determinants in today s society. Asian Americans academic success comes from a combination
of helpful parents, a motivation to succeed, a supportive academic space, a supportive community and
economic resources. In this paper, I will argue that Asian Americans attend college due to their
cultural roots and familial expectations. Along the way to success are some hardships like stereotypes,
gender differences and economic difficulties, but there is also prosperity in means of cultural and
familial involvement. Compared to other racial or ethnic backgrounds, hard work and education are
frequently viewed as being factors that all Asian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers were given a list of these students. Not knowing the students were chosen at random, the
researchers called this the Pygmalion Effect, or a self fulfilling expectation. In the first and second
grade the student s grades improved dramatically and 47 percent of those students gained 20 points on
an IQ test they took. Since the teachers had higher expectations for these students, this made the
students feel more capable of doing things (Kristof, 2015). Stereotypes have a lot to do with the
effects of an individual s success or a group s success. The article uses a stereotype that Asian
Americans are supposed to be good at math, and even though some can live up to that expectation,
troubles are created for those who cannot live up to that expectation. This stereotype makes Asian
Americans less focused on being personally creative and seems more focused on memorization,
sticking to the book and following equations. According to a TED Talk starring Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie, the danger of a single story is explained. The danger of a single story is a critical
misunderstanding of a certain culture, or a person. Adichie reminds the listeners that we must tell our
own stories that are about our own personal experiences because stereotypes are incomplete. She
explains how single stories rob people of dignity and they emphasize how people are different rather
than similar. When we reject the single story,

Classroom Management Plan For Students
Classroom Management Plan Part One
There are 22 students in my second grade class. Of the 22 students, 11 are male and 11 are female.
The demographics of the classroom are as follows: African American (9) 41%, Caucasian (8) 36%,
Hispanic (2) 9%, Asian (2) 9%, and Multi Racial (1) 4.5%. Two students come from families that
receive an income below the poverty line. Every student in the class speaks English and there are two
children with disabilities. One student has a 504 plan for ADHD and the other has a vision problem.
My job is to make sure that the students feel safe and comfortable in my room. My room will be
welcoming to parents and students. I will set a positive learning environment from the first day of
school to make sure my students feel safe, comfortable, and engaged. Wong and Wong (2009) stated
that, The most important day of a person s education is the First Day of School, not Graduation Day
(p. 45).
I will make my class welcoming by decorating the walls. I will have one bulletin board with standards
and related curriculum. I will have another bulletin board with student examples. I will decorate my
door according to seasons. The class schedule, rules, word wall, and posters will be hung on the wall.
According to Wong and Wong (2009), Readiness is the primary determinant of teacher effectiveness
(p. 92). I will try to greet my students every morning to help my classroom feel more inviting and tell
them goodbye daily. I will write important events or

Conflict Between Conflict And Conflict
Conflict is generally considered a typical part of human interactions and is not in itself essentially
damaging. Rather, it is how conflict is managed that determines whether or not the outcomes are going
to be constructive or damaging (Deutsch, 2006). Thus, conflict management, the method of managing
a dispute and associated conflicts, is very important in producing satisfactory or disappointing
outcomes. It is therefore vitally important to know your conflict management style, along with its
inherent strengths and weaknesses, as a leader of a healthy organization, in order to deal with conflict
in a positive manner.
What Is Conflict?
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, conflict is a struggle for power, property, a strong
disagreement between people, groups, etc. that results in often angry argument or a difference that
prevents agreement or a disagreement between ideas, feelings, etc. Although we normally think of
conflict as negative, it is a normal byproduct of social interaction and is not in itself damaging.
Conflict can occur very easily in an organization, both horizontally and vertically. Prause and Majtuba
(2015) identified four components which create conflict. First, there must be a difference of opinion or
position of the parties involved. A misunderstanding or discrepancy in opinions or needs should take
place (Daria Prause, 2015). Secondly, the parties of the conflict should be identified. Although some
parties are not aware of their

California s St. Francis Dam Collapse
Mr. Mulholland is an intelligent, sharp, and observant builder. he didn t seem to study much about

throughout History for his confidence of how to build the dam. He seemed pretty gruff and impatient,
He seemed like he wanted to just get done with his work. Mulholland wanted to get it done because it
was a very long task, There are some answers to why Mulholland built the dam badly. One reason is
that it was probably too much on the dam. As the head of the department of power, Mr. Mulholland
faced a huge challenge which was to provide water for a rapidly grwoing city. People really need
water for getting clean. Mullholland thought he could help the people to get get water by building a

Dns, A Domain Name System
2.1.2 DNS SPOOFING: DNS is a Domain Name System. DNS contains all IP addresses and name of
the websites in its database in the form of records called resource records and are placed in the
hierarchal manner. DNS spoofing is a similar type of MITMA when compared to ARP cache
poisoning. DNS spoofing is a technique used by hackers to provide false DNS information to the host
while accessing a website. When users try to gain access to a particular website, a request will be first
sent out the local DNS server for the IP address of the website which the user wants to access. Once it
receives the request the DNS server does a search in the database to find the particular IP address of
the website, once if identifies the ip address of the website it immediately send a response to the user
browser regarding the IP information.
FIGURE 2: DNS Request Query If the requested IP address is not found in the database of the DNS
server, it will then forward the request to a higher level DNS server in the hierarchy. It is due the
hierarchical nature of the DNS structure of the internet, DNS server need the ability to communicate
with each other in order to find the ip addresses of the websites requested by the users. It is reasonable
to expect the local DNS server to know the name mapping to the local intranet server. It is termed as

Distribution of Work in the European Council
What is the influence of the President of the European Council Herman von Rompuy and High
Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton? The answer to
this question is very debatable. Catherine Ashton obtains many functions, the most known is that she
is the High representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security policy. But she is also the
First Vice President of the European Commission and has many other duties such as chairing the
Foreign Affairs council and representing the European Union in international fora. Only her titles
alone take up three lines to write, just imagine how can she manage to fulfill all these duties properly.
That s right, she can t do all those duties at 100 percent. And on the other hand we have Herman Van
Rompuy who is the President of the European Council and his duties include chairing the European
Council meeting and occasional representation of the EU in the international meetings. Although this
may seem as a tough job to do, in comparison with Catherine Ashton we could even say that he isn t
really doing anything. His chairing duty calls only twice per six months. This is utterly shocking. We
do not consider this optimal distribution of work. This also leads to creation of job positions, which
don t serve any real purpose. This is maybe one of the problems of EU, lack of common sense and
unreasonable complicating of things that could be solved much easier and in

DC Comics as a media and entertainment company has rich roots in American pop culture since. DC
owns some of the most iconic and enduring characters in the past century. In 1938 DC published the

DC has the upperhand in terms of tradition and recognition, but is that enough? Marvel has become
the 21st cinematic universe powerhouse with nearly $11 billion in worldwide box office sales. It was
originally founded in 1938 as Timely Publications and by the 1950 s had become Atlas Comics.
However, the company began to gather traction in the 60 s with characters like the Fantastic Four.
Over the coming decades, creators like Stan Lee and Jack Kirby birthed characters like Spiderman,
Wolverine, and Loki. Marvel enjoyed decades of success in the production of comic books until they
hit a wall in the 1990 s. Seven of its most prized artists; Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Marc

with a slump in the industry mid decade would leave Marvel on the verge of bankruptcy. In efforts to

of Marvel in July 1999. At one point in 2000 the company had only $3 million in the bank, barely

economy to affect Nederlander s ticket sales? Why or why not?
2.Now a days, concerts of famous artists are usually held in big stadiums and theaters, which brings a
huge crowd of fans for affordable ticket prices and the same time, satisfies the high demanded
payment for the top artists and earns a profit for the organizers of the shows. However, there are
concert management companies, like Nederlander, that manages to charge higher ticket prices for
small theater performances and to deliver a sellout crowd night after night (Video Case: Nederlander,
p.1). Why is Nederlander able to do that when audiences could pay less at stadium concerts?
Operating in a free market system makes Nederlander work hard and find their way to succeed. Their
tactic is to match the right band with the right target audience (Video Case: Nederlander, p.1).
Believing that each artist or band has their unique audience, the marketing department of Nederlander
is publicizing the shows by executive targeting a definite customer sector. Another important factor of
the success of Nederlander is that they have learned to make money based on precise economic
calculation (Video Case: Nederlander, p.1). By matching the high demand for top artists with the low
supply of tickets for Nederlander small venues, they find out the equilibrium price, the price where the
quantity demanded equals the quantity supplied. Knowing the equilibrium price and taking into
consideration the price

Personal Reflection On Deaf People
My personal reflect on this film is that around the 1800 s it seemed that people didn t like deaf people.
They were isolated from the others, and they also thought that they couldn t be taught, but in 1817
Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet opened the first deaf children school in America. Which was grate because
they were going to be able to learn new things. The man named Alexander Graham Bell thought that a
life without signing will be a better life. Bell also tried to keep deaf people apart from each other
because he didn t want a big community of deaf people in the world. And that was unfair because
hearing people wouldn t really be able to communicate with deaf people. Bell also thought that
teaching the children to read lips and to speck would be much better. In fact around the late 1860 s
oral schools opened which was pretty cool but it was unfair that they didn t want the children to sign,
specially because that was their natural language. One thing that I thought was pretty cool was that the
kids would make their own sign name, by seeing what your character was like and seeing how you
were, then they will give you a sign name that sort of ties into you, something unique to you. Another
thing that was unfair that deaf people had to go through was that in school they couldn t sign, they
were suppose to lip read and use their quality of the speech. In my opinion that s not fair because it s
like saying that we hearing people have to use sign to communicate. And we couldn t have

Your courage Is going to kill you, and you have no feeling left for your little boy or for me (Homer

in the battlefield, then there was nothing he could do to change that, he also told her that he was doing
this for her and Astyanax, their son, because they might end up as slaves if he is not successful. Hector

didn t do anything to me to make me come over and fight (Homer 160). However, he is a man of

Sherwood Anderson shows two examples of control in Don and Ted. These two characters have

Before this change occurred, the family always made him upset by never letting him do the things that
he wants to do. They constantly watched him and told him to be careful, not letting him run or play.
Mary, seeing the injustice of this, decided to do something about it. One day, when Ted and Mary got
back from swimming in the creek, Louise, their mother, told Ted he mustn t. The rest of her sentence
left unsaid, but nonetheless clearly understood. He mustn t do all the dangerous things he does. While
Ted left out of anger, Mary stayed her ground and argued for her brother, telling Louise she should

by surprise so much that she decides, to Ted s great joy, to give the children their freedom. When he
dies at the end of the story, Mary feels he had a happy life. Don, in Mary s mind, had the hardest life
of all.
The conflict between Don and his father John shows another way situations in life can have control

conversations and writings profoundly shaped European culture. Tea helped Britain retain the colossal
empire they are often credited with. This is because of a secondary effect of tea as it helped to create
the British Empire, which in turn impacted the world colossally. Coffee, tea, and rum catapulted the
world into major cultural shifts.
During the 17th and 18th centuries when rum was introduced the culture in the Americas and Britain

Theodora Empress Of Byzantium By Paolo Cesaretti

Byzantium by Paolo Cesaretti, a book chronicling Theodora s life and accomplishments.Theodora was
born into that lowest rank of the empire in about 501, the daughter of the bear keeper of the blue

Scholars are now questioning a variety of different aspects in this Jewish work. Thankfully, as the
field of archaeology becomes more and more a source of information, biblical scholars can use it to
place biblical history into its correct framework. Although this paper has the potential to interact with
a variety of tels to demonstrate the necessity of archaeology in understanding daily life, will not.
Instead, it shall focus on Tel Halif as an important excavation site, because of the window it provides
to the ancient world, particularly Biblical history. This will be demonstrated by detailing the tel s
geography, periods of occupation, excavations including significant finds, and connection to the
Hebrew Bible.
In the Bible, Rimmon, often called en Rimmon, is mentioned five times twice in Joshua, once in 1
Chronicles, once in Nehemiah, and once in Zechariah. Joshua 15:21 31 lists it at one of the 29
southernmost towns of the tribe of Judah in the Negev towards the boundary of Edom. Joshua 19:7
further explains its position in the nation of Israel, adding it to the lot of the tribe of Simeon, whose
territory was inside that of Judah s. 1 Chronicles 4:32,

Growing up he d always spend time with his uncle s slaves. The slaves would always tell stories and Twain could not get enough of these tales. At the age of eleven, Twain got a job as a Printer s Apprentice and got the opportunity to increase awareness of what was happening around the world. When he turned 18 he headed out east to work with several different newspapers. He got bored of this job quickly and after a few years he found himself working for a riverboat on the Mississippi river. Due to the Civil War this job was shut down. In search of a new job he volunteered to join a Confederate group called the Marion Rangers. He hated this so he quit two weeks later. Being jobless and desperate he traveled west to look for new work. After quite a few odd jobs and get rich quick schemes, including his failed try during the gold rush, Twain finally found gold of his own when his first short story Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog was published. This story was the perfect example of regionalism, much like all his work. When he used regionalism he made you feel as if you were in Missouri by the way he wrote it and the slang he used. This regionalist style of literature would show many authors in the 2nd part of the 19th century how to write in a regional style of literature. All Twain s years of perfecting regionalism also gave him the ability to write in other forms of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos Essay The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos John Demos in a sense presents themes that are entirely familiar and conventional. The themes of sin, retribution, and repentance are very prevalent in his writing. The loss of piety, the failure of spiritual nerve, the absolute necessity of reform; and the certainty of God s punishment if reform was not achieved appear throughout his book (Demos). (In this instance, Eunice s failure to return to her native land is putting her at risk in the eyes of God). For approximately 60 years John Williams who had been a captive for almost two years, and is one of the main characters of the story writes different letters, sermons, in an effort to reach the captive daughter. Noemi, in effect was redeemed by returning to her home (Demos 192). The circumstances of captivity were as varied as the number of people involved on both sides. Prisoner redemption was the process of prisoner exchange that had long been unfair. Captives were subject to ransom, trade for other key people, and sometimes prisoners decided to remain in captivity since escape was very dangerous. Acculturation which included adoption and repatriation were choices for some of them as well. For example, Eunice s inability to speak English and her personal appearance announce her loyalty to other standards (Demos 146). She had been fully integrated or Indianized (Demos 142). Professionals have become anxious of the hazards presented by modernisation , new innovative strategies to deal with the risks, and technological advances. These developments have caused uncertainty, creating further risks and a collective vulnerability to risk awareness (Giddens, 1991). This assignment will critically analyse the way in which society s preoccupation with risk, influences the way in which the probation service and police work. The first part of this paper will discuss the significate changes to probation practice, by reviewing probation history from the 1960s in England and Wales. Discussing how influential penal trends, policy and practice evolution, have resulted in social work and probation work training becoming detached (Robinson and McNeill, 2004). Retributivism theory in a culture of risk will be studied, with the recommendations to punishment examined. The what works agenda (Martinson, 1974) will be discussed progressing on to the emergence of populist punitiveness , and critically examining the correlation with risk theory. Focusing on the progression of probation practice in late modernity, and the use of risk assessments, it focuses on the risk instruments of clinical, actuarial and mixed approaches. Through various methods of relative dating, and absolute radiometric dating, scientists can very precisely determine the age of the Earth. The key to the age of our planet lies not in one evidence, but in the cross examination of multiple evidences. In this paper, we will explore those evidences and find that the secret of Earth s age lives in the relationship between them. By putting the pictures of fossils in chronological order in the activity Using Fossils to Tell Deep Time , we discovered that fossils can be a valuable tool in relative dating. This creates an opening above the hotspot, which allows the hotspot to create more islands. The older the islands are, the smaller they get because they have more time to be eroded. Also, the older the islands will be further away from the hotspot because they have been on the tectonic plates longer and therefore have had more time to move. This phenomena shows relative age because we can see the age of the Earth through the size of the islands and the distance they are from the hotspot. In the third activity, we found that mid ocean ridges are the birthing place of tectonic plates. The isochron map showed us that the closer to the ridges, the younger the oceanic floor is. The closer to a continent, the older the rock is. The reason for this is because the mid ocean ridges create crust, and where the oceanic crust meets the continental crust, the crust is destroyed (subduction zone). • 11. Analysis Of The Writings Of Washington Irving, Nathaniel... Review of writings of Washington Irving, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Edgar Allan Poe. By Mantegbosh Letyibelu Irving, Poe, and Hawthorne were arguably some of the most popular writers of the 19th century (Dincer 223; Lauter 2505). All three of them are known for their short essays and their advocacy to make writing a full fledged and legitimate profession. Their writings show that they were hugely influenced by the Romantic Movement (romanticism); a movement in art, literature, music, philosophy, politics and culture towards focusing on the individual, the subjective, and the spontaneous (Dincer 218). Romanticist writing encouraged contemplation and self awareness, direct contact with nature, and a focus on and an exploration of inner feelings (Dincer 223). Yet, they had distinct writing style, focus, and theme. While Irving was more of a light romantic writer, a writing style characterized by optimism, Poe and Hawthorne are widely considered dark romantic Authors whose writings were characterized by pessimism that sees the world as full of dark, evil, suffering, horror, and mystery. While Irving s writing focused more on satire and humor, Poe Hawthorne s writing was more about evil, crime, sin, and mystery. Moreover, Irving seem to be nostalgic aristocrat with huge interest in the landscape, folklore, and the past (2506), whereas Poe and Hawthorne had a contrary view of the past (Liptak). For those delicate pooches, ordinary Heartgard tablets will need to be bought. Heartgard Plus for dogs contain Ivermectin, which is an effective controller of many parasites. It is used widely for the treatment of a wide range of internal parasites in farm animals and in the treatment of dogs who test positive for full blown heartworm disease. The volume of Ivermectin contained in dog heartworm medicine is so small that it only eliminates heartworm larvae. Heartgard Plus medication does not prevent larval heartworms infecting your dog, it stops them living long enough to cause any problem. The way the heartworm medicine aspect of Heartgard Plus medication works is in a retrospective manner. Each month your dog is given his chewable and the active ingredient slowly destroys all heartworm larvae which have infected the blood during the previous thirty days. Because the drug works backwards, eliminating parasites before they can progress to adulthood, it is crucial that the treatment is given every month. Otherwise larvae deposited in your dog s bloodstream via a mosquito bite can grow and eventually reproduce. Although Ivermectin heartworm medications are good at eliminating larvae which have been in the system longer than a month, their efficiency reduces as the larvae grow. Alongside an extremely reliable heartworm preventative, Heartgard Plus chewables also contain Pyrantel, another parasite controller. This one targets roundworm and hookworms. Asian Americans academic success comes from a combination of helpful parents, a motivation to succeed, a supportive academic space, a supportive community and economic resources. In this paper, I will argue that Asian Americans attend college due to their cultural roots and familial expectations. Along the way to success are some hardships like stereotypes, gender differences and economic difficulties, but there is also prosperity in means of cultural and familial involvement. Teachers were given a list of these students. Not knowing the students were chosen at random, the researchers called this the Pygmalion Effect, or a self fulfilling expectation. In the first and second grade the student s grades improved dramatically and 47 percent of those students gained 20 points on an IQ test they took. Since the teachers had higher expectations for these students, this made the students feel more capable of doing things (Kristof, 2015). Stereotypes have a lot to do with the effects of an individual s success or a group s success. The article uses a stereotype that Asian Americans are supposed to be good at math, and even though some can live up to that expectation, troubles are created for those who cannot live up to that expectation. This stereotype makes Asian Americans less focused on being personally creative and seems more focused on memorization, sticking to the book and following equations. • 27. Conflict Between Conflict And Conflict Conflict is generally considered a typical part of human interactions and is not in itself essentially damaging. Rather, it is how conflict is managed that determines whether or not the outcomes are going to be constructive or damaging (Deutsch, 2006). Thus, conflict management, the method of managing a dispute and associated conflicts, is very important in producing satisfactory or disappointing outcomes. It is therefore vitally important to know your conflict management style, along with its inherent strengths and weaknesses, as a leader of a healthy organization, in order to deal with conflict in a positive manner. What Is Conflict? According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, conflict is a struggle for power, property, a strong disagreement between people, groups, etc. that results in often angry argument or a difference that prevents agreement or a disagreement between ideas, feelings, etc. Although we normally think of conflict as negative, it is a normal byproduct of social interaction and is not in itself damaging. Conflict can occur very easily in an organization, both horizontally and vertically. Prause and Majtuba (2015) identified four components which create conflict. First, there must be a difference of opinion or position of the parties involved. A misunderstanding or discrepancy in opinions or needs should take place (Daria Prause, 2015). Secondly, the parties of the conflict should be identified. Although some parties are not aware of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

DNS contains all IP addresses and name of the websites in its database in the form of records called resource records and are placed in the hierarchal manner. DNS spoofing is a similar type of MITMA when compared to ARP cache poisoning. DNS spoofing is a technique used by hackers to provide false DNS information to the host while accessing a website. When users try to gain access to a particular website, a request will be first sent out the local DNS server for the IP address of the website which the user wants to access. Once it receives the request the DNS server does a search in the database to find the particular IP address of the website, once if identifies the ip address of the website it immediately send a response to the user browser regarding the IP information. But she is also the First Vice President of the European Commission and has many other duties such as chairing the Foreign Affairs council and representing the European Union in international fora. However, there are concert management companies, like Nederlander, that manages to charge higher ticket prices for small theater performances and to deliver a sellout crowd night after night (Video Case: Nederlander, p.1). Why is Nederlander able to do that when audiences could pay less at stadium concerts? Operating in a free market system makes Nederlander work hard and find their way to succeed. Which was grate because they were going to be able to learn new things. The man named Alexander Graham Bell thought that a life without signing will be a better life. Bell also tried to keep deaf people apart from each other because he didn t want a big community of deaf people in the world. And that was unfair because hearing people wouldn t really be able to communicate with deaf people. Bell also thought that teaching the children to read lips and to speck would be much better. In fact around the late 1860 s oral schools opened which was pretty cool but it was unfair that they didn t want the children to sign, specially because that was their natural language. One thing that I thought was pretty cool was that the kids would make their own sign name, by seeing what your character was like and seeing how you were, then they will give you a sign name that sort of ties into you, something unique to you. Another thing that was unfair that deaf people had to go through was that in school they couldn t sign, they were suppose to lip read and use their quality of the speech. Coffee, Tea, And Tea The history of the world can be viewed through six drinks, beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and Coca Cola, as told in the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage. However, focusing on three drinks in particular, rum, coffee, and tea, an enormous story can be told. Those three drinks impacted the world in many ways, especially the cultures that consumed or traded them. In order to produce Rum, many Africans were brought to the Americas to work in servitude. This caused a culture shift, because now you had two very different cultures working closely together, but one was considered superior to the other. Coffee sparked the emergence of enlightened thinkers, whose conversations and writings profoundly shaped European culture. Tea helped Britain retain the colossal empire they are often credited with. This is because of a secondary effect of tea as it helped to create the British Empire, which in turn impacted the world colossally. Coffee, tea, and rum catapulted the world into major cultural shifts. During the 17th and 18th centuries when rum was introduced the culture in the Americas and Britain became one of unenlightened and drunken people. Before rum, all that most Europeans had to drink was disease ridden water and beer. Rum was a happy medium between the two drinks.
