The Role Of A Baker In The Middle Ages
The overall role of a baker in the Middle Ages helped the manor survive. One of the most common
and basic types of bread to everyone in the feudal hierarchy was the pain de manyne. This was a
table loaf, and could be described as round bread that was eaten plain. The two main types of bread
most frequently made in medieval bakeries, were called table breadand trenchers. Usually, the size
of a trencher was a half a foot long, by four fingers, by four fingers. these pretty small loaves
would be turned over and over repeatedly in the oven until hard. When dealing with a trencher,
staleness was a benefit , therefore, in order to have the best dinner party, a menagier would tell his
wife to get four day old trencher bread from his baker.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the baker supplied everyone in the system bread, the specific type differed among
classes. White bread in this time was scarce, thus the whiteness of the bread made from wheat
flour became a sign for times of plenty and a high social class. The more common bread, however
was black bread, made with whatever grains that could be found ground up. The ingredients usually
ended up being dark ryes and whole grain varieties. Peasants therefore became correlated with black
bread (Zieg). Due to what the fact that they give bread to everyone in the manor, they receive
services in return. These services included military protection and land. Although it may seem
irrelevant, the manor would have been unable to continue being self sufficient without the

Positive Effects Of Globalisation
Globalisation can be defined as the worldwide movement toward economic, financial, trade and
communications integration . (Business Dictionary. (2017). The definition then goes onto discuss
the interconnectedness and interdependent of a society that allows a free transaction of capital
and goods and services through the opening of boarders and uninterrupted movement of labour.
(Business Dictionary. (2017). Globalisation can be seen in all aspects of a modern society and in
the day to day life of individuals, for example, with the advancement of technology we have seen
an increase of global communication with the use of the internet to allow people to connect and
understand different backgrounds and culture. This essay will primarily focus on the way in which
globalisation can affect and make an impact on the economies of small community s and what the
effects it has on the economy on a global scale.
Globalisation can be argued to be the way of the future, the way to connect countries, cultures and
individuals. It is argued that the benefits encourage a less developed country to join in the path of
globalisation is that in theory it is meant to allow for the free movement of labour, this being
beneficial to a country that may be experiencing labour shortages. This can be seen to be effective
in the European Union as they allowed migrants from Eastern Europe to move west to meet with
their labour demand. Another benefit of globalisation could be an increase in competition

Abstract
The generation effect refers to the experimental findings that when the subject is asked to generate
all/part of the stimulus the item is always remembered better than the stimulus that the subject only
read (Slamecka Graf). That is the information that the subject generates/creates by oneself is
remembered better compared to the information they only read. Results show that in all the cases,
the performance in generation condition was superior to that in read condition. Using a repeated
measures design, subjects were exposed to 2 levels (conditions, namely, read condition and generate
condition). After each condition, they were engaged in a simple recall task, remembering as many
words as they could. This phenomenon is applied even across variations in encoding rules, timed or
self placed presentation and along with between and within subjects design. A number of potential
explanatory principles are considered and their difficulties are enumerated in the following report.
To conclude, generation effectis a robust finding.
Keywords: Generate Condition. Recall, Memory, Paired associate.
Introduction
The given report is an empirically based report. Generation effect is a phenomenon where
information is better remembered if it is generated from one s own mind than it is simply read.

Looking For Alice Essay Question
One of the central questions that Alice deals with in the novel is the question of identity, as is
obvious from the following excerpt:
I wonder if I ve been changed in the night? Let me think: was I the same when I got up this
morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I m not the same, the next
question is, Who in the world am I? Ah, that s the great puzzle! And she began thinking over all
the children she knew that were of the same age as herself, to see if she could have been changed
for any of them.
I m sure I m not Ada, she said, for her hair goes in such long ringlets, and mine doesn t go in
ringlets at all; and I m sure I can t be Mabel, for I know all sorts of things, and she, oh! she knows

The American Psychological Association asserts that there are two parts to identity. One is self
concept , which are the set of beliefs one has about oneself, and include beliefs about one s
attributes (e.g., tall, intelligent), roles and goals (e.g., occupation one wants to have when
grown), and interests, values, and beliefs (e.g., religious, political (15). The other is self esteem,
which involves evaluating how one feels about one s self concept (American Psychological
Association 15). All the mistakes Alice makes serve as learning experiences for her as she
figures out that she is, indeed, Alice, and she also begins to be able to feel better about herself
and have higher self esteem as the book nears the end. Self esteem is generally regarded as the
evaluation that persons make about themselves that express a self judgment about approval,
disapproval, and personal worth (Zimmerman, Copeland and Shope 118). According to the Journal
of Youth and Adolescence, an important role that self esteem plays during adolescence is well
documented. As Alice begins to learn how to adapt to the strange world, she continues to gain self
confidence and self esteem. This is evidenced by her response to the Queen of Hearts when Alice
says that the Queen s command is nonsense and is able to save herself from being

Clocky Marketing Analysis
Introduction In 2005 Gauri Nanda, supported by neuroscience research that demonstrated the
depth of the average American s sleep deficiency problem, created significant media buzz with
the prototype of her revolutionary alarm clock Clocky . Unsure of how to position a product
that had a growing following but was still over a year away from production, Nanda was faced
with a number of difficult decisions as she attempted to devise a marketing plan to bring her
Clocky project to fruition. The following is our analysis of her situation, and suggestions on how
she should proceed. Question 1 Using a SWOT analysis we are able to define the success factors
that will influence Clocky s future launch on the market by identifying the potential... Show more

As stated in the case, Nanda believed this segment is less risky because claiming Clocky as the
revolutionary product which would change people s morning patterns could raise too high an
expectation regarding performance, which in turn can be difficult to meet consistently (note
that the Clocky is still a prototype and its functionality is not yet proven). Targeting Clocky first
as a robotic household pet would be a good foundational step to help Nanda raise the necessary
capital investment for further expansion, particularly in terms of the knowledge and
technologies that will be needed to update the functionality and reliability of a second generation
Clocky. In this way Nanda also leaves herself the possibility to cover the NEED MARKET with
further generations of Clocky. Moreover, Clocky s furry exterior (in the original prototype),
revolutionary technology application and playful nature lend it a high internal consistency with
the fun segment customers who seek out these distinctive features which not found in
traditional, existing products (Clocky is the first alarm clock with pet like habits). The only
concern associated with Nanda s targeting Clocky to the Fun Market is the risk of Clocky being
confused with a fad, which has a very short acceptance period and tends not to satisfy a
legitimate, strong need. However, it is possible to recognize fads early and leverage its popularity
into a product with a staying power, for example by

My Statement Of Purpose For Industrial And Systems...
Einstein aptly said, Knowledge is like an ocean and I m just a young lad picking shells on its
shore. On a scale of such magnitude, I m probably one who is still trailing rivers on their journey
to the deltas, but I certainly have the zeal to make it to the abyss of that ocean, facing the toughest
of the waves. It is my passion for nurturing my knowledge in the field I know best and where I
believe I can leave a lasting contribution to society, which has brought me to your doorstep.
Why M. Eng. in ORIE...
My undergraduate course curriculum and my involvement in several projects outside the
coursework has given me ample opportunities to gain experience in various fields of Industrial and
Systems Engineering. This has also assisted me in narrowing down my academic interests to
specific areas. My interest in Industrial Engineering is particularly because of its striking relevance
to real world problems; supported by my competence to model, formulate, and solve such problems.
However, with the maturity of the organizations in terms of information infrastructure, the speed of
access to that information and the plethora of types of that information have led to a natural
evolution in decision making from an Industrial Engineering perspective to an Information

Piercing Procedure Research Paper
Once you ve decided to get a piercing, the next step is figuring out who should do the job. It s
important to choose your artist carefully, since the wrong one could leave you with a variety of
bloodborne illnesses, including HIV. Ask around for recommendations and examine your chosen
facility with your own eyes before consenting to a piercing procedure. When checking out your
potential piercer, here are three things they absolutely need to be: licensed, insured and
immaculately clean. With apologies to Meatloaf, two out of three simply isn t good enough when
choosing a piercer. Find someone who possesses all three of these qualities before having your
piercing done.
Licensed
When performing a body piercing, it is important for the artist to know where certain nerves and
other important anatomical structures are located. Piercing is risky when done improperly,
leading many cities to legislate who may and may not perform the procedure. In order to operate
legally in these places, a piercing parlor must meet certain health and safety requirements and
submit to periodic inspections. Those who comply are issued a license to display so customers
know that the facility has been inspected and is in compliance with all of the related laws and
safety requirements. If an operating license is not displayed, ask to see one before going any further.

Verify that your potential piercer has insurance that specifically covers piercing work. This
insurance protects you by ensuring that your artist has adequate coverage to pay your expenses
in the event of a serious infection or other problem. If you are at a festival or other event when
the mood for a piercing strikes you, verify that the piercer s insurance coverage applies when he
is working outside of his permanent studio. It is also wise to make sure any guest artists are also
covered before letting one perform your piercing.

terms of money is saved. Six months are enough to complete the project at the said cost of $3
million dollars.
One month early: the quantity of time is greatly saved, and the cost is saved considerably. The
teams required to make deliveries within the alternating Mondays can maximize the number of
hours worked and maybe save.
Two months late: additional time comes with added cost and expenses in the contract. More than
$3 million dollars will be used if the project is not done within the estimated period. U.S. industry
Inc will make losses of both time and money.
Security requirements
the security requirements of the US government are absolute and must be followed to the letter.
On time with required security: ensure that the project is within the US acceptable standards. The
contract is followed to the letter hence achieving quality, fair cost, timely completion and required
standards.
One month early with required security ensures that the record time is achieved, and cost is saved,
and the security requirements are in line with the FISMA regulations.
Two months without required security are disastrous for U.S. industry Inc as it will

Literary Analysis Of Blackberry Eating By Galway Kinnell
Galway Kinnell speaks about the act of eating delicious blackberries in his poem Blackberry
Eating. The author starts out his poem with a narrative on his tangible experiences when eating the
fruit, but the poem later transitions into the topic of writing words. The topic of eating
blackberries serves as an analogy for language and how perplexing yet marvelous it truly can be.
This speaks to how poetrycan be used as a medium to discuss the complexities existing in language
itself and how these complexities can show how poetry encapsulates this artistic literary form.
Blackberry Eating uses alliteration, repetition and specific word choice to convey the image of
physically eating a blackberry while alluding to the tactile process of... Show more content on

Kinnell s brilliant use of alliteration is not the only literary device that is effectively used to
deliver his analogy, he also uses repetition to reference the connection with sound and imagery.
Repetition is important because it reiterates the idea wanting to be conveyed. In line 2, Kinnell
repeats black in the same line, black blackberries (2). For this poem repetition is used effectively
in that Kinnell is constantly repeating the word black in blackberry; it reminds the audience
subconsciously of the sound that the words black and blackberry make. In fact the word black
is used seven times throughout the ninety word poem. By repeating certain words, the poem
gives emphasis to a particular topic or theme it wants to convey. In Blackberry Eating Kinnell
also uses repetition to emphasize the imagery narrated in this poem. By stressing the black color
of this berry, it allows readers to truly capture the picture Kinnell is painting of the berry as well
as the sound the word black makes. This alludes to the topic of choosing words which is shown in
the second half of the poem.
In addition to using such literary devices to exemplify sound and imagery, Kinnell picks out words
in his poem while discussing the process of choosing words.

Unintentional Falls-Related Injuries
The unsafe environment is the significant factors that contributed to unintentional falls related
injuries in the Hilltop community. Also, the photo and evidence have shown that people in the
Hilltop community commonly live in unsafe environments, and they are exposed to high risks that
increase their likelihood of being injured. Children and older adults are the vulnerable groups as
they have less capacity to overcome these risks. After exploring the Hilltop community, the
potential causes of unintentional fall related injury are both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The
Intrinsic factors include individual s vulnerabilities that increase the risk of falls such as chronic
functional impairments (visual loss or physical function limitation) and acute illnesses (asthma,
myocardial infarction). For the extrinsic or environmental risk factors, which include unsafe
walking surfaces, obstacles in a sidewalk, unstable stair, unsecured handrails and poor lighting. As

Vehicle Enhancements Research Paper
Vehicle Enhancements Do you want your vehicle to reach a higher top speed than expected, but
do not know what enhancements to use for it to be done safely? Although there are many
upgrades that can improve speed, you also need to improve down force and weight reduction to
reach maximum potential. If the three of these are not done, then when reaching high speeds the
vehicle may flip because it does not have the proper down force it needs to hold it to the ground.
When the car has too much weight it could keep it from reaching the highest possible speedit can
handle. So how can we first improve speed?
To most people, speed is the only thing a car or truck needs to win a race. One way to help
enhance the speed is to add a multitude of parts, some of which are as follows: Super charger,
nitrous, turbo, and performance chips. These are just a few of the many options one may run into.
Super chargers increase the power of an engine (Harris, William). They do this by increasing the
pressure or density of air supplied to an internal combustion engine. Another way that is also

bigger the engine the more it can carry may seem full proof at first, but when improperly took

but not make your vehicle too light is by acquiring and installing fiberglass body panels, aluminum
driveshaft, aluminum differential, and much more. The fiberglass body panels managed to reduce
the weight of a 1970 Plymouth Duster by 212 pounds alone (Magnante, Steve). 212 pounds being
subtracted from a 3,012 pound car is an amazing weight loss when looking to increase power. An

Separate But Equal Essay
Was Separate but Equal really equal? In many states colored people were not treated equal,
many were discriminated against and many children were not treated fairly. Their schools and
learning conditions were terrible, many of there schools didn t even have running water.
Houston, Charles H. states in his article that many African Americans were referred to as second
class citizens. Many colored people were separated from whites by the laws put in place; such as
separate but equal and many others. There were many groups that stood up against these laws
such as the NAACP which held many protests. These groups also stood up against many laws
such as separate but equal . The Passing of separate but equal laws was unfair to blacks it s
discrimination lead to the Brown v. Board of Educationcase that had a positive result because public
schools were desegregated.
Separate but Equal laws were created to separate colored people from white people. Despite
many disagreements they still made segregation legal the courts challenged earlier civil rights
legislation and handed down a series of decisions that permitted states to segregate people of color
(Smithsonian). This quote helps to explain why separate but equal was created and that many
people already disagreed with is but instead of revising it they passed it. Separate but equal was a
very contravital topic there were many protests and many disagreements involving this topic and

Examples Of Figurative Language In Night By Elie Wiesel
Figurative language can be used to develop different themes within writing. Elie Wiesel uses
figurative language to show his theme of hopelessness in his memoir, Night. For instance, he
writes, They passed me by, one after the other, my teachers, my friends. ... Some of whom I had
once feared, some of whom I had found ridiculous, (Wiesel 17). This repetition definitely shows
the feeling of hopelessness that he must have had during this time. Reading this, I feel bleak.
Bleakness being very close to helplessness. The repetition puts this feeling on you, and this makes
it a very effective piece of figurative language. Reading further along I see another literary device.

Hidden Depths In Will Smith s Life
Hidden Depths After analyzing the text from Will Smith s life it is clear to me that the
characteristics he had can be characterized as a cross between ego and super ego. In my opinion
by analyzing Will Smith s personal life it is clear to see that he puts the priorities of others
before his needs. He obeys to the social norms and in my opinion has no representation of an ID
Factor. A perfect example of this is looking at his life with his children. Will Smith puts the
needs of his family before himself. Thus in this one particular time when he was on tour he had
opportunities to be unfaithful to his family however he decided that it was not logical two act on
his instincts or urges. Throughout the book it appears that I can find a few defensive mechanisms

Understanding Learning and Memory with the Morris Water Maze
Abstract
The overstimulation of GABA inhibitory receptors in the hippocampus has been found to obstruct
spatial learning and memory. Ethanol was administered to male Swiss Webster mice in low and
high doses in order to test its pharmacological effects on memory. The Morris water maze
experiment was conducted as the experimental basis of understanding ethanol s capacity to inhibit
and/or suppress cognition, specifically memory in the hippocampus. Three individually marked,
male, 47 day old Swiss Webster mice per 5 groups were used to conduct the Morris water maze
experiment. The average time spent in the water amongst all 3 experimental groups decreased post
injection; with the 10% ethanol treated mice having the best memory recall. There were a few
factors that may have contributed to the surprising results of the experiment, such as a small sample
size and varying tolerance levels. Understanding the role of GABA and glutamate in cognition can
provide the foundation for further research and experimentation of memory formation and recall in
the hippocampus.

The Endocrine System Is Made Up Of Cells And Glands That
The endocrine system is made up of cells and glands that make hormones and release them into
the blood. These hormones help to regulate reproduction, sleep, metabolism, cell growth, and
development. The word endocrine is a derivative from two Greek words: endo , which means
within or inside, and krinis , which is a verb for secrete. In the endocrine system, there are different
glands that each excrete different hormones. All of these glands are ductless, and secrete their
hormones straight into the blood stream. Some of these glands are the pineal gland, the thyroid and
parathyroid glands, the pancreas, and the thymus. These glands are located in various parts of the

thyrotropin, which sends signals to the thyroid to produce hormones, and corticotropin, which also
sends signals to produce hormones, but to the adrenal gland. The hypothalamus produces anti
diuretic hormone, which raises up the water absorption in the blood in the kidneys, oxytocin, which
aids in the contraction of uterine smooth muscles and contraction of mammary gland cells, or

system. The pancreas produces insulin, which helps the body to use and absorb glucose, and
glucagon, which help the other hormone, insulin, to keep a normal blood glucose level. The
kidneys are both included in the urinary system and the endocrine system. On top of the kidneys

Hydrocortisone keeps track of how the fats, carbohydrates, and protein turn into energy for the

Public Services Unit Practicum Examples
I did my practicum with the Traffic, Patrol, Identification, and Public Services units. Most of
time I was with the Patrol Unit learning the ins and outs of the back of police work. Except for
the identification unit, all the units acted the same and did the same except with a focus in a
specific area. Traffic focuses on traffic control and traffic violations, public services helps the
public with issues, and patrol work does all these things out on the street. Identification is the only
difference, they help build court files by seizing and processing evidence for cases. The
Identification Unit (Ident.) has to the most tedious of all. Officers have to record everything that
they do at a scene and in the lab during processing. As Darby showed me,... Show more content on

Besides ticketing for speeding or expired licences, the Traffic Unit has to explain the law to
people and deal with the public just like the Patrol Unit. Driving under the influence is a major
problem in Lethbridge and dealing with it is not so easy. The mass of paperwork that is needed
just to seize a vehicle, get it towed, charge the person, get a breath sample, and authorizations is
tedious enough. The officers, in addition, have to have the discretion to choose their battles
involving the law. The discretion to challenge if someone has their vehicle insured and if they
should try to charge someone for being under the influence of a drug well driving as a few
examples. The officers also need to arrest and control people who are under the influence, which is
not easy. One example of this is the one younger man that was upset and suicidal after an arrest.
Dealing with all this constantly, there is a very real lack of empathy and motivation to pursue
difficult charges; therefore, concentrating on the faster and easier

The Impact Of Religion And Spirituality On Psychological...
A Hope that Restores: The Impact of Religion and Spirituality on Psychological Distress Those
who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but
they sing as they return with the harvest (Matthew) . Everyone in life goes through a tribulation of
some variety, including those who believe in a superior being. A common term for these people,
that is, people who carry said belief, is religious, referring to a person who is devoted to the
applications of a church or other institution, perhaps a synagogue. Although the two compliment
each other, religionis not to be confused with spirituality. While religion focuses on involvement
in a religious program, such as a church, spirituality is often thought to be a reserved and private
experience, in which the partaker places meanings with events that are close to them as an
individual. Religious and spiritual people alike have been studied over recent years in order to
clarify theories which claim that coping with trauma in a religious manner has an effect on the
outcome pertaining to how well the person copes. First of all, the matter of who is affected by
trauma should be addressed. As previously stated, everyone experiences such ordeals at one
occasion or another in their lifetime. However, people of greater extents of unique backgrounds,
such as poverty or specific types of ethnicity, tend to be more prone to distress and the consequences
resulting from. Also, while consequences

Long-Distance Trade And Economic Development.. Many Countries
LONG DISTANCE TRADE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Many countries in the 15th
century were isolated from communication with outsiders from other countries, thus preventing
introduction of new ideas that would encourage either growth or change. They were bound by old
traditions that were hard to ignore but this also created a situation whereby these countries were
literally bursting at the seam for new ideas and growth. Finally ignoring years of isolationism,
Chinese and European hierarchies slowly began financing various expeditions seeking not only to
become trading partners with other countries, but also looking for new territories to explore and
settle. These expeditions slowly began to bring back an infusion of great wealth which, in turn,...

Eventually, things began to change in China and it wasn t long before China became the first
country to develop paper money, sophisticated brokerage practices and banking institutions. There
were a number of factors that drove this; first there was the huge size of China itself. Other factors
were the difficulties involved in long distance trade using metal currencies and the minor role of
the government in regulating the economy. China also used a tribute system as the basis for trade
and restricted access of foreign traders to Chinese markets, particularly by limiting them to
specified ports under controls established by the central government. Under the Qianlong Emperor,
the western companies were limited specifically to Canton where they could have contact only with
officially designated firms, or Hong. On the other side of the world, trade significantly influenced
the course of history in West Africa (A). All the wealth made through trade was used to build larger
kingdoms and empires and to protect their trade interests, these kingdoms built strong armies.
Kingdoms that desired more control of the trade also developed strong armies to expand their
kingdoms and protect them from their competition. Long distance trade helped the local economy
and also supported internal trade because

Canadian telecommunication Industry
Introduction
The telecommunications regulation that existed in Canada in the 1970s and before were high. The
telecommunication industry in Canada was mainly dominated by Bell Canada. Regional service
providers and long distance resellers emerged in the telecommunication industry in the 1980s and
the 1900s due to deregulation by the federal government. During the late 1990s the wireless market
exhibited a growth in momentum. In the 2000s it witnessed a rapid growth but this was not the
case in Canada. The government is determined to ensure Canada s telecommunication market is

According to CANADIAN TEL. INDUSTRY (2011), for CRTC its priorities were to ensure that in

1980s Economy
The onus of this essay is to support it with broad range of data, statistics, economic models and
theory to revive and analyze the real causes which left dramatic effects on the economy by
discussing the major events and effects it had on the general public that turned a once prosperous
economy into turmoil. We shall look at many major factors which triggered the downturn from a
different spectrum such as high levels of unemployment, the cost of living, public spending interest
rates and many more.
Late 1970s and early 1980 s (1979 1983) was a turbulent period in the history of United Kingdom s
economy. Britain welcomed their first female prime minister when they were facing major
economic volatility. 80s was the phase when UK was facing cost push inflation like a lot of other

As we can see from the graph above UK s inflation in 1980 was 18% followed by a steep drop in
1981 of 11.90%, 8.60% in1982 and lastly 4.60% in 1983 resulting in a highly disinflated economy
due to inflation rates sky rocketing which however was dealt severely by the government by
decreasing budget deficit and charging higher taxes by cutting extensively on spending.
The graph above demonstrates the enormous levels of unemployment during the early 1980s which
put over three million people out of work in 1983 . I believe the strong decline of the trade union
power in this phase resulted in deterioration of employment due to tight monetary policy with
critical reasoning such as unions not having enough power to push up the wages and wage demands

everything related to Wells, retaining the association only for marketing purposes. A Scientific

L. L Bean Boots Essay
Bean boots are not only used for hunting but are also used for day to day wear. The initials in
L.L bean stand for Leon Leonwood(Westbrook). Leon Leonwood was the founder of the LL bean
boots and started the company as well. The production of Bean boots dates back to 1912 and the
company is still making the same style of boots today (History of Ll Bean). Leon Leonwood
spent most of his time outdoors. Leonwood needed a waterproof boot that could be worn out
which inspired him to invent the Bean Boots ( History of Ll Bean). L.L. Bean boots are one of the
most popular outdoor footwear items that are on the market because they are waterproof, stylish,
and good for hunting.
The L.L Bean boot is known for being able to wear it in all conditions and one of these traits
include being waterproof. The boot consists of leather at the top and a rubber midsole.
Leonwood put them to the test as he was exploring outside for many years. The first time he
released his Bean boots, ninety nine of the one hundred pairs were returned because they were not
waterproof ( History of L.L. Bean ) . Leon wanted to perfect his product, so changes were made
which included a new kind of stitching where the leather connected to the rubber ( History of L.L.

Joan Didion Analysis

film about her life is premiering. Standing beside her nephew Griffin Dunne, who directed the
documentary Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold (Netflix), the 82 year old Californian s all

stripped and striped, but its body and character are as full as ever. It serves as a reminder that no

blunt and short in the 60s, when she released Slouching Towards Bethlehem, the book of essays

Cbg In Cannabis
What is Cannabigerol or CBG in Cannabis?
Cannabigerol or CBG for short, is most recognized as a clear headed high that is very therapeutic.
Much like CBD, cannabigerol is not a psychoactive cannabinoid. CBG was first discovered by
researchers in 1964 as a component of hash.
Interestingly, CBG is now known as a precursor in a marijuana plants process to create both THC
and CBD. This is a vital cannabinoid considering the cannabis plant requires it to combine with
other enzymes to make the compounds that get us stoned or pain free. Without CBG we would
never have THC.
How does CBG effect my high?
Sedative and analgesic effects. A pleasant soothing feeling as stress and anxiety disappear. Lowered

Social and Ethical Technology Concerns-Biotechnology
Social and Ethical Technology Concerns Biotechnology
Biotechnology is technology based on living organisms. It harnesses cellular and biomolecular
processes to develop technologies or products which are immensely useful to mankind.
Biotechnology modifies living organisms according to our needs. Humans have employed this
tool in the fields of agriculture, food industry and medicine for more than 6000 years. We see
numerous biotechnological applications in our every day life. Preparation of food products like
bread, cheese and preservatives in dairy products are all outcomes of this great scientific tool
(Biotechnology Industry Organization).
Modern biotechnological research has created wonders for mankind. It has provided products to
combat rare diseases, vaccines for untreatable diseases, food for the hungry and a safer, cleaner
environment to our planet.
Biotechnology has played a vital role in reducing the green house effect and in producing a cleaner
planet. Because of the worldwide economic and environmental concerns regarding the use of petro
chemicals, extensive research has been conducted on residual biomass. Significant progress has
been made in the field of lignocellulose biotechnology. Lignocellulosic waste materials have been
used in the production of bio fuels, enzymes, chemicals, the pulp and paper, animal feed and
composites (Iqbal, 2013). Moreover, algal biomass has received huge attention in producing
biofuels due to their relatively high growth rate, great

Bilingual Language Learners ( Ell ), And Students
A. Introduction
There are so many diverse student groups in the United States. Two that are really of interest to me
are English language learners (ELL), and students in foster care. Though they have many
similarities, they are also vastly different.
A.1. Definition and Demographics
ELL students are either students whose first language is not English or who were raised speaking
another language in their home. ELL students made up about 9% of public school students in the
United States during the 2014/2015 school year, which equals out to about 4.5 million students!
Spanish is the number one first language of ELL students, making up about 77%. Arabic and
Chinese are the next two most popular languages ELL students speak, but only ... Show more

This all falls under linguicism. This discrimination based on language is not only a severe
challenge for ELL students, but also incredibly unfair. As people who speak English as our first
language it s easy to take advantage of that privilege, but we need to give those who do not speak
English as their first language the same respect that we would want if we were learning another
language in a surrounding that was foreign to us.
A.3.a. Strategy for ELL Students
Growing up in an incredibly diverse area, I completely overestimate the availability of ESL
(English as a second language) and ELL teachers. Because all ELL students do not have access to
such help, educators can do well to make a personal effort to reach out to their ELL students. By
making a personal effort to connect with ELL students, educators can better understand how to help
them get the most out of their education. Giving them special attention will not only help them
succeed but also make them feel more comfortable and welcome. Educators could go above and
beyond by making special copies of homework assignments for students that feature both English
and the students first language. This way they will no doubt understand what is being asked of
them, but also learn new words at the same time! Another way educators could show a personal
effort could be by making time to work with the students outside of classroom time, further
explaining anything that was taught

Analysis Of The Yellow Wall-Paper And The Fall Of The...
Can architecture truly shape the mental healths of an individual? This question has been
brought into light from the novels The Yellow Wall Paper and The Fall of the House of Usher.
The relationship of the main character s mental health to the architecture of the setting in both
novels shows a deterioration in character health. The Yellow Wallpaper novel is taken place in a
nursery and the wallpaper is described as irritating and provoking. In Fall of the House of Usher,
the novel is taken house where you feel a sense of insufferable gloom. The health of the
characters can be depicted from these areas and creates a scene of disorder and insanity. In the
novel, The Yellow Wall Paper, the narrator is introduced to the audience as someone who seems
normal. She has a husband and a child as well. The narrator begins writing her journal and
explaining to us that she has been taken into a summer vacation home wit her husband. She at
first describes the house to be an more expensive place and questions their ability to purchase the
house. However, she soon begins to explain to us her disorder and how her husband John and her

utilization of silkworm pupae in food is still a traditional practice25. Research shows that there are
no toxic effects, mutagenicity and abnormal effects related to silkworm pupae and they are safe
for human consumption26. Foodborne pathogens are one of the major public health concerns in
developing countries. In our target region, foodborne illnesses are common due to poor general
hygiene, lack of professional equipment and inadequate food handling at home27. In Ethiopia, the
average annual incidence level of foodborne illnesses is 5.8% and average death associated with
diarrhea, the major symptoms caused by food related diseases, is 45%28. Common pathogens
related with animal origin food products are Salmonella spp. and Escherichia coli O157:H727.

Jessica Vs. Amber
Although people generate a separate profile for each individual they meet, sometimes the
profiles are incredibly different. In high school everyone befriends many persons of different
races, personalities, as well as social groups, yet we tend to befriend remarkably similar
individuals. Rarely do we realize, some people are actually more different than we know.
Freshman year, I entered into a world all different than what I was used to, but yet I made two
amazing friends. Jessica and Amber both loved school, friends, and doing art outside of school.
Although between them are many differences, but a few stand out from the others. Collegeand work
ethic, their personalities, and talents differ greatly.
Work and education bring forward some attributes in people that are extremely different from
others. Jessica and Amber are extremely different, especially in this way. Jessica loves to learn
in general but does not like education. Jessica doesn t look to books for her knowledge, but
acquires more common sense than most people I know. She has no plans on attending college
any time soon, but had rather enter directly into the workforce. Jessica once said, I don t care for
going to college, it s pointless to me. I had rather work than go to school. Jessica loves to help
people out, and one day would love to work in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amber expresses her feelings, but she doesn t want to hurt anyone s feelings in the process. She
takes into consideration people s feelings and if she feels as if her thoughts and feelings could
offend others, or make them feel inferior, she keeps them to herself. Amber once got into an
argument but didn t say much, just so she wouldn t offend the other person. Amber loves helping
people, but she is more likely to keep to herself rather than offer her assistance. She cares about
everyone but doesn t show that she cares like some people

Ronnie Drew
The unforgettable character and deep, crowd silencing voice associated with Ronnie Drew
makes him both loveable and memorable. This essay intends to explore Ronnie s early life,
music career and life achievements. The work is quite personal as Ronnie was my great uncle.
This essay will discuss the early life, musical career, and life achievements of Ronnie Drew. Drew
was a fascinating character with plenty of interesting stories to tell. His witty tales, superb sense of
humour and many notable achievements make him a national icon, respected and loved by the
people of Ireland. The legacy of Ronnie Drew is his influence on future Irish contemporary singers
such as Damien Dempsey and established acts such as The Pogues, The Waterboys and even...

Luke Kelly departed from The Dubliners in 1964, headed back to England. John Sheehan and Bob
Dylan joined the group and when Luke returned, Bob left shortly after. The group signed to
Transatlantic records. The Dubliner s success continued, and they appeared on the Ed Sullivan
Show in America in 1968. Throughout the sixties, the group indulged in chart success and
international fame. Ironically, Ronnie never viewed the group as a band more of a group of four
or five individuals, who each did their own thing (Drew, pg.65 2008). Drew s genuine character,
dry sense of humour and passion for music shines throughout his career both with The Dubliners
and as a solo artist. In 1974, shortly after CiarГЎn Bourke had a brain haemorrhage, Ronnie
decided to leave The Dubliners as CiarГЎn s sudden illness was affecting him and he felt he was
neglecting his role as a family man ... I felt my children were growing up and I wasn t seeing
very much of them... (Drew, pg.68 2008). Drew s solo career was also a roaring success and he
released albums with various renditions of well known Dubliner s songs including The Irish Rover
originally featuring The Pogues. Ronnie collaborated with several other artists during this period
including Christy Moore, Mary Coughlan, and Eleanor

Stormbreaker Movie Analysis
Once the world of entertainment began, there were a limited number of books that became
movies. As time progressed, more and more books were finally produced. The reason for this
change is because books have been considered old fashioned ; however, their plots are sometimes
worthy of being produced. As more books became movies, an argument ensued. Many viewers and
critics have placed reading a book and watching the movie against each other. A great way to
analyze the aspects of this argument is to dissect the movie and book, Stormbreakerby author
Anthony Horowitzand director Geoffrey Sax. Reading the book and watching the movie have
many similarities such as the appeal to the readers/viewers, the overall plot or theme, the structure,
and characters; however, these two entertainment options have many differences as well including
details and time consumption. One way that books and movies are alike includes appeasement. In
the entertainment world, appeasement is sought after by many artists, musicians, movie directors,
and authors. These individuals desire to appeal to their viewers taste. The object of appeasing is
to hook your intended audience. This is very essential in both movies and books. Both authors
and movie directors focus on details that will draw a reader or viewer in. Their attention to the
particular book or movie brings satisfaction and monetary rewards to these authors and movie
directors. The overall story of Stormbreaker uses a genre that appeals to

The Security Of Data Tightly And Information Security
UCTION
In today s world transformation of data very securely and information security are the most
important categories for the organizations to follow or else the information can easily be taken
away by the enemies. In olden days the organizations used to follow the encryption and decryption
for the transformation of data securely which is known as cryptography. In cryptography the
security of data depends on how strong the encryption and decryption are said to be used. But it is
not very easy for the sender and receiver to recall all the passwords. So avoid those difficulties
crypto biometric is used which is the combination of biometric and cryptography. The biometric is a
technology that identifies humans with their body uniqueness like fingerprints, face prints and
voice patterns for the validation purposes. In recent year s most of the analysts, trying to eradicate
the password identification and using the biometric. The combination of cryptography and
biometric can eliminate the recall of passwords because the information can be used only by the
identified person. But there are some of the problems that are faced in the biometric. The biometric
system which contains the information should not reveal any biometric features. It should also
have the flexibility of converting the varied data in to the fixed. So, the data cannot be revealed to
the unauthorized person when it was transmitted. Therefore, the result of Fingerprint based crypto

Women Should Be Legal For Combat
Women should be allowed to serve in combat roles in the military Some argue that women should
not serve in combat because; they have never served in any type of combat operations in the history
of the American military. Positions in the military have been designed specifically for women and
how they perform their duties. No evidence can be produced that women have the abilities, physical
strength, or motivation to engage in combatoperations, the physical differences from their male
counterparts are so extreme; women cannot maintain the agility or psychological confidence that
men are capable of displaying during extreme combat stress. However, this thinking misses the
point. History has shown as far back as the Revolutionary War, women such as Molly Pitcher, who
took up her husband s position as an artillery gunner, after he was injured in combat. More recently
during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have had many women put into stressful combat situations,
with very little training, and were able to engage the enemy effectively, and in some cases
displayed courageous actions that saved lives. They were able to physically and mentally handle
the combat stress equally with their male counterparts. Several women have also recently been
allowed to attend advanced combat training, such as the U.S. Army Ranger School. Additionally,
with much opposition to women serving in combat units, the Department of Defense has recently
opened all combat related positions including

The Evolution Of Humans And Humans
Humans have existed on Earth for approximately 3.4 million years. The oldest known human
ancestor is Lucy, an Australopithecus. Over this extensive period of time, humans have evolved
significantly. Homo Sapiens have grown from 3 to almost 6 feet (average), lost most of the body
hair, became leaner and adapted to walking. Humans have come a long way, from Australopithecus
to Homo sapiens, from living in trees to living in cities. Slowly, through hundreds of thousands of
years, we mutated over and over again, natural selection ensuring that no destructive mutations
continue. From the slow evolution, four distinctive species emerged and died out, each giving way
to its descendant: Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Sapiens Neanderthalesis, and Homo sapiens
Sapiens.
The Australopithecines were the first to walk upright, or became bipedal, although rather clumsily.
Their walk was unsteady, judging by their bone structure (Figure 1.), and they most likely were
quadrupedal the majority of the time. The Australopithecines had a brain about the size of an
orange, high up cheekbones, and big molars. They were about three feet tall, and had small thumbs.
Australopithecines, while definitely possessing some human characteristics, humans are still much
closer to the chimps. Australopithecines were vegetarians; even if they knew that animals were
edible, they still had no reliable means of killing animals for food. About 2 million years ago,
highly evolved Australopithecines made the

  • 2. The Role Of A Baker In The Middle Ages The overall role of a baker in the Middle Ages helped the manor survive. One of the most common and basic types of bread to everyone in the feudal hierarchy was the pain de manyne. This was a table loaf, and could be described as round bread that was eaten plain. The two main types of bread most frequently made in medieval bakeries, were called table breadand trenchers. Usually, the size of a trencher was a half a foot long, by four fingers, by four fingers. these pretty small loaves would be turned over and over repeatedly in the oven until hard. When dealing with a trencher, staleness was a benefit , therefore, in order to have the best dinner party, a menagier would tell his wife to get four day old trencher bread from his baker.... The definition then goes onto discuss the interconnectedness and interdependent of a society that allows a free transaction of capital and goods and services through the opening of boarders and uninterrupted movement of labour. (Business Dictionary. (2017). Globalisation can be seen in all aspects of a modern society and in the day to day life of individuals, for example, with the advancement of technology we have seen an increase of global communication with the use of the internet to allow people to connect and understand different backgrounds and culture. This essay will primarily focus on the way in which globalisation can affect and make an impact on the economies of small community s and what the effects it has on the economy on a global scale. Globalisation can be argued to be the way of the future, the way to connect countries, cultures and individuals. It is argued that the benefits encourage a less developed country to join in the path of globalisation is that in theory it is meant to allow for the free movement of labour, this being beneficial to a country that may be experiencing labour shortages. This can be seen to be effective in the European Union as they allowed migrants from Eastern Europe to move west to meet with their labour demand. • 4. Use Of Psychology And Counseling Centre Experiment 1: Generation Effect Aarti N. Shah Roll Number: 21 MA I University of Mumbai Department of Applied Psychology and Counseling Centre Abstract The generation effect refers to the experimental findings that when the subject is asked to generate all/part of the stimulus the item is always remembered better than the stimulus that the subject only read (Slamecka Graf). That is the information that the subject generates/creates by oneself is remembered better compared to the information they only read. Results show that in all the cases, the performance in generation condition was superior to that in read condition. Using a repeated measures design, subjects were exposed to 2 levels (conditions, namely, read condition and generate condition). After each condition, they were engaged in a simple recall task, remembering as many words as they could. This phenomenon is applied even across variations in encoding rules, timed or self placed presentation and along with between and within subjects design. A number of potential explanatory principles are considered and their difficulties are enumerated in the following report. To conclude, generation effectis a robust finding. Keywords: Generate Condition. Recall, Memory, Paired associate. Introduction The given report is an empirically based report. • 5. Looking For Alice Essay Question One of the central questions that Alice deals with in the novel is the question of identity, as is obvious from the following excerpt: I wonder if I ve been changed in the night? Let me think: was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I m not the same, the next question is, Who in the world am I? Ah, that s the great puzzle! And she began thinking over all the children she knew that were of the same age as herself, to see if she could have been changed for any of them. I m sure I m not Ada, she said, for her hair goes in such long ringlets, and mine doesn t go in ringlets at all; and I m sure I can t be Mabel, for I know all sorts of things, and she, oh! she knows such ... One is self concept , which are the set of beliefs one has about oneself, and include beliefs about one s attributes (e.g., tall, intelligent), roles and goals (e.g., occupation one wants to have when grown), and interests, values, and beliefs (e.g., religious, political (15). The other is self esteem, which involves evaluating how one feels about one s self concept (American Psychological Association 15). All the mistakes Alice makes serve as learning experiences for her as she figures out that she is, indeed, Alice, and she also begins to be able to feel better about herself and have higher self esteem as the book nears the end. Self esteem is generally regarded as the evaluation that persons make about themselves that express a self judgment about approval, disapproval, and personal worth (Zimmerman, Copeland and Shope 118). According to the Journal of Youth and Adolescence, an important role that self esteem plays during adolescence is well documented. As Alice begins to learn how to adapt to the strange world, she continues to gain self confidence and self esteem. Clocky Marketing Analysis Introduction In 2005 Gauri Nanda, supported by neuroscience research that demonstrated the depth of the average American s sleep deficiency problem, created significant media buzz with the prototype of her revolutionary alarm clock Clocky . Unsure of how to position a product that had a growing following but was still over a year away from production, Nanda was faced with a number of difficult decisions as she attempted to devise a marketing plan to bring her Clocky project to fruition. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated in the case, Nanda believed this segment is less risky because claiming Clocky as the revolutionary product which would change people s morning patterns could raise too high an expectation regarding performance, which in turn can be difficult to meet consistently (note that the Clocky is still a prototype and its functionality is not yet proven). Targeting Clocky first as a robotic household pet would be a good foundational step to help Nanda raise the necessary capital investment for further expansion, particularly in terms of the knowledge and technologies that will be needed to update the functionality and reliability of a second generation Clocky. In this way Nanda also leaves herself the possibility to cover the NEED MARKET with further generations of Clocky. Moreover, Clocky s furry exterior (in the original prototype), revolutionary technology application and playful nature lend it a high internal consistency with the fun segment customers who seek out these distinctive features which not found in traditional, existing products (Clocky is the first alarm clock with pet like habits). The only concern associated with Nanda s targeting Clocky to the Fun Market is the risk of Clocky being confused with a fad, which has a very short acceptance period and tends not to satisfy a legitimate, strong need. However, it is possible to recognize fads early and leverage its popularity into a product with a staying power, for example by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The topic of eating blackberries serves as an analogy for language and how perplexing yet marvelous it truly can be. This speaks to how poetrycan be used as a medium to discuss the complexities existing in language itself and how these complexities can show how poetry encapsulates this artistic literary form. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kinnell s brilliant use of alliteration is not the only literary device that is effectively used to deliver his analogy, he also uses repetition to reference the connection with sound and imagery. Repetition is important because it reiterates the idea wanting to be conveyed. In line 2, Kinnell repeats black in the same line, black blackberries (2). For this poem repetition is used effectively in that Kinnell is constantly repeating the word black in blackberry; it reminds the audience subconsciously of the sound that the words black and blackberry make. In fact the word black is used seven times throughout the ninety word poem. By repeating certain words, the poem gives emphasis to a particular topic or theme it wants to convey. In Blackberry Eating Kinnell also uses repetition to emphasize the imagery narrated in this poem. By stressing the black color of this berry, it allows readers to truly capture the picture Kinnell is painting of the berry as well as the sound the word black makes. This alludes to the topic of choosing words which is shown in the second half of the poem. In addition to using such literary devices to exemplify sound and imagery, Kinnell picks out words in his poem while discussing the process of choosing words. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, the photo and evidence have shown that people in the Hilltop community commonly live in unsafe environments, and they are exposed to high risks that increase their likelihood of being injured. Children and older adults are the vulnerable groups as they have less capacity to overcome these risks. Although there are many upgrades that can improve speed, you also need to improve down force and weight reduction to reach maximum potential. If the three of these are not done, then when reaching high speeds the vehicle may flip because it does not have the proper down force it needs to hold it to the ground. When the car has too much weight it could keep it from reaching the highest possible speedit can handle. So how can we first improve speed? To most people, speed is the only thing a car or truck needs to win a race. One way to help enhance the speed is to add a multitude of parts, some of which are as follows: Super charger, nitrous, turbo, and performance chips. Nwokochah BIO 482L Lab Report 18 October 2015 Understanding Learning and Memory with the Morris Water Maze Abstract The overstimulation of GABA inhibitory receptors in the hippocampus has been found to obstruct spatial learning and memory. Ethanol was administered to male Swiss Webster mice in low and high doses in order to test its pharmacological effects on memory. The Morris water maze experiment was conducted as the experimental basis of understanding ethanol s capacity to inhibit and/or suppress cognition, specifically memory in the hippocampus. Three individually marked, male, 47 day old Swiss Webster mice per 5 groups were used to conduct the Morris water maze experiment. The average time spent in the water amongst all 3 experimental groups decreased post injection; with the 10% ethanol treated mice having the best memory recall. There were a few factors that may have contributed to the surprising results of the experiment, such as a small sample size and varying tolerance levels. Most of time I was with the Patrol Unit learning the ins and outs of the back of police work. Except for the identification unit, all the units acted the same and did the same except with a focus in a specific area. Traffic focuses on traffic control and traffic violations, public services helps the public with issues, and patrol work does all these things out on the street. Identification is the only difference, they help build court files by seizing and processing evidence for cases. The Identification Unit (Ident.) has to the most tedious of all. The officers, in addition, have to have the discretion to choose their battles involving the law. The discretion to challenge if someone has their vehicle insured and if they should try to charge someone for being under the influence of a drug well driving as a few examples. The officers also need to arrest and control people who are under the influence, which is not easy. One example of this is the one younger man that was upset and suicidal after an arrest. A Hope that Restores: The Impact of Religion and Spirituality on Psychological Distress Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest (Matthew) . Everyone in life goes through a tribulation of some variety, including those who believe in a superior being. A common term for these people, that is, people who carry said belief, is religious, referring to a person who is devoted to the applications of a church or other institution, perhaps a synagogue. Although the two compliment each other, religionis not to be confused with spirituality. While religion focuses on involvement in a religious program, such as a church, spirituality is often thought to be a reserved and private experience, in which the partaker places meanings with events that are close to them as an individual. Religious and spiritual people alike have been studied over recent years in order to clarify theories which claim that coping with trauma in a religious manner has an effect on the outcome pertaining to how well the person copes. First of all, the matter of who is affected by trauma should be addressed. As previously stated, everyone experiences such ordeals at one occasion or another in their lifetime. However, people of greater extents of unique backgrounds, such as poverty or specific types of ethnicity, tend to be more prone to distress and the consequences resulting from. They were bound by old traditions that were hard to ignore but this also created a situation whereby these countries were literally bursting at the seam for new ideas and growth. Eventually, things began to change in China and it wasn t long before China became the first country to develop paper money, sophisticated brokerage practices and banking institutions. There were a number of factors that drove this; first there was the huge size of China itself. Other factors were the difficulties involved in long distance trade using metal currencies and the minor role of the government in regulating the economy. China also used a tribute system as the basis for trade and restricted access of foreign traders to Chinese markets, particularly by limiting them to specified ports under controls established by the central government. Under the Qianlong Emperor, the western companies were limited specifically to Canton where they could have contact only with officially designated firms, or Hong. The Dubliner s success continued, and they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in America in 1968. Throughout the sixties, the group indulged in chart success and international fame. • 48. Stormbreaker Movie Analysis Once the world of entertainment began, there were a limited number of books that became movies. As time progressed, more and more books were finally produced. The reason for this change is because books have been considered old fashioned ; however, their plots are sometimes worthy of being produced. As more books became movies, an argument ensued. Many viewers and critics have placed reading a book and watching the movie against each other. A great way to analyze the aspects of this argument is to dissect the movie and book, Stormbreakerby author Anthony Horowitzand director Geoffrey Sax. Reading the book and watching the movie have many similarities such as the appeal to the readers/viewers, the overall plot or theme, the structure, and characters; however, these two entertainment options have many differences as well including details and time consumption. One way that books and movies are alike includes appeasement. In the entertainment world, appeasement is sought after by many artists, musicians, movie directors, and authors. These individuals desire to appeal to their viewers taste. The object of appeasing is to hook your intended audience. This is very essential in both movies and books. • 50. The Security Of Data Tightly And Information Security UCTION In today s world transformation of data very securely and information security are the most important categories for the organizations to follow or else the information can easily be taken away by the enemies. In olden days the organizations used to follow the encryption and decryption for the transformation of data securely which is known as cryptography. In cryptography the security of data depends on how strong the encryption and decryption are said to be used. But it is not very easy for the sender and receiver to recall all the passwords. So avoid those difficulties crypto biometric is used which is the combination of biometric and cryptography. • 51. Women Should Be Legal For Combat Women should be allowed to serve in combat roles in the military Some argue that women should not serve in combat because; they have never served in any type of combat operations in the history of the American military. Positions in the military have been designed specifically for women and how they perform their duties. No evidence can be produced that women have the abilities, physical strength, or motivation to engage in combatoperations, the physical differences from their male counterparts are so extreme; women cannot maintain the agility or psychological confidence that men are capable of displaying during extreme combat stress. However, this thinking misses the point. History has shown as far back as the Revolutionary War, women such as Molly Pitcher, who took up her husband s position as an artillery gunner, after he was injured in combat. More recently during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have had many women put into stressful combat situations, with very little training, and were able to engage the enemy effectively, and in some cases displayed courageous actions that saved lives. They were able to physically and mentally handle the combat stress equally with their male counterparts. Several women have also recently been allowed to attend advanced combat training, such as the U.S. Army Ranger School. Additionally, with much opposition to women serving in combat units, the Department of Defense has recently opened all combat related positions including ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Evolution Of Humans And Humans Humans have existed on Earth for approximately 3.4 million years. The oldest known human ancestor is Lucy, an Australopithecus. Over this extensive period of time, humans have evolved significantly. Homo Sapiens have grown from 3 to almost 6 feet (average), lost most of the body hair, became leaner and adapted to walking. Humans have come a long way, from Australopithecus to Homo sapiens, from living in trees to living in cities. Slowly, through hundreds of thousands of years, we mutated over and over again, natural selection ensuring that no destructive mutations continue. From the slow evolution, four distinctive species emerged and died out, each giving way to its descendant: Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Sapiens Neanderthalesis, and Homo sapiens Sapiens. The Australopithecines were the first to walk upright, or became bipedal, although rather clumsily. Their walk was unsteady, judging by their bone structure (Figure 1.), and they most likely were quadrupedal the majority of the time. The Australopithecines had a brain about the size of an orange, high up cheekbones, and big molars. They were about three feet tall, and had small thumbs. Australopithecines, while definitely possessing some human characteristics, humans are still much closer to the chimps. Australopithecines were vegetarians; even if they knew that animals were edible, they still had no reliable means of killing animals for food. About 2 million years ago, highly evolved Australopithecines made the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
