Reflection On Self Development Through Reflection
Self development through reflection is a key issue of education and learning (Kennison, 2012), where
you learn through experience (Tashiro, Shimpuku, Naruse and Matsutani, 2013), learn to self evaluate
(Duffy, 2013), identify gaps in knowledge and detect where further training or study is required to
improve practice (Olarerin, 2013). Ultimately reflection is thought to be constant learning from
practice, thus refining knowledge and experiences and putting them into practice (Naidoo, 2013).
Within my reflection examples (Appendix 1) I recognised where my knowledge and experience was
lacking, through self evaluation. For instance when completing an electrocardiogram (ECG). I learned
through my extra reading, how completing an ECG incorrectly could cause the patient to require un
necessary treatment (Houghton, 2014). Through my extra study I was able to learn where exactly
where the electrodes are positioned on the body for an accurate EGC tracing to be produced
(Crawford and Doherty, 2012; University of Nottingham, 2015). I used this knowledge throughout my
placement and I am now confident in conducting ECG s in my future practice. In achieving self
development in this example I linked my learning directly to my practice (Ross, 2014), where I
developed a fundamental skill and expanded my knowledge for my continued development in my
nursing career and practice (Aronson, 2011).

Nursing practice is a key issue within reflective practice. It supports

The Principle Of The Principles Of Enterprise Architecture
Principle 1
Primacy of principles
Statement:
These principles of enterprise architecture apply to all business units within the enterprise.
Rationale:
The only way we can provide a consistent and measurable level of quality information to decision
makers is if all business units with Lotterywest abide by the principles.
Implications:
Without this principle, exclusions, favouritism, and inconsistency would rapidly undermine the
management of information.
System related initiatives will not begin until they are examined for compliance with the principles
Principle 2
Maximise benefit to the enterprise.
Statement:
Enterprise architecture decisions are made to provide maximum benefit to the enterprise as a whole

The IS function must define processes to manage business unit expectations.
Data, application, and technology models must be created to enable integrated quality solutions and to

4.2 Data Principles
Principle 8
Data is an asset
Statement:
Data is an information asset that has value to Lotterywest and will be managed accordingly.
Rationale:
Data is a valuable corporate resource; it has real, measurable value. The purpose of data is to aid
evidence based decision making. Accurate, timely data is critical to accurate, timely decisions. Most
corporate assets are carefully managed and data is no exception. Data is the foundation of our decision
making, so we must also carefully manage data to ensure that we know where it is, can rely upon its
accuracy, and can obtain it when and where we need it.
Implications:
This one of three closely related principles regarding data: data is an asset; data is shared; and data is
easily accessible. All Lotterywest decision makers should understand the relationship between the
value of data, sharing of data, and accessibility of data.
Data owners must have the authority and means to manage the data for which they are

Etiquette and Introductions
Proper etiquette is the acceptable ways in which a person behaves in public. These rules have a long
time existing and have showed in all cultures. Depending on the geographic location, these etiquettes
have changed. For example: if you live in Germany, it s totally normal to drink beer at any time of the
day. On the contrary English people would think of these as an insult. They drink only tea, and it shall
be done at specific times, like on a meeting.
The manners and ways of the nineteenth century were quite different from those of today (as anyone

way, yes, they had more freedom. Anyway, they did have some manners and actions they should

When a man is appointed on a date with a girl, he has to invite her to walk down the sidewalk while
they talk.
While going up stairs, the man should go before the woman, when going down, he should go after.
While on a carriage, he must not seat next to a woman unless he is a person from her family. He must
leave the carriage first and help the woman out.
When at a public event, the man must go first to find the woman a seat. If there are elder, he has to
take his hat off.
Men are introduced to women.
Men cannot smoke when ladies are around.
Although, there are some actions that one must never make. Here are some examples (for men):

The Influence Of Past American Women Writers
The Influence of Past American Women Writers Amy Tan, Julia Ward Howe, and Judith Sargent
Murray are some of the noble women whom have helped shape the lives of their fellow gender with
the talents of their writing. Much of their writing became increasingly influential years after it was
written. Their literature allows today s modern readers to reflect on the humanity and the treatment of
women, understand history s past, and use it as an example to continue spreading the vision of the
equality of women today. Tan was known for her willingness to stand up for herself against her
mother, in pursuits to find her own dreams versus those of what her mother had laid out for her
(Showalter, Ch. Amy Tan ). Howe was a poet, and founder of the nation s Battle Hymn of the
Republic , she was known for her activism of women s rights, abolition, and world peace (Showalter,
Ch. Julia Ward Howe ). Lastly, Murray was known as the first woman of American letters, speaking
for women s rights after the American Revolutionary War (Showalter, Ch. Judith Sargent Murray ).
Tan, Howe, and Murray have proved to be influential not only in America s historic past, but
inspiration leading to today and the future as well. These women are excellent examples to learn from
in taking ownership of their women s rights and the equalities we shall have, in our still unequal
world. Amy Tan was born in Oakland, California. Both of her parents were Chinese immigrants ( Amy

Change In The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
Change, which is a part of nature, is inevitable. Change can range from good to bad, and oftentimes
will not be as obvious as, say, people disappearing off the face of the earth or transforming into an
insect. Even little changes can create chaos, such as a single miscalculation causing a drastically
inaccurate solution to a complicated math equation. However, the way a person reacts positive,
negative, or in between is determined primarily by the change itself.
Change can be negative, both in view of the person and the change itself. This is evident in the novel
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. In the story, the main character, named Gregor, wakes up one
morning transformed without reason into a bug. Although his whole body was changed ... Show more

Andy Goldsworthy is an artist who creates art for the sole purpose of nature changing it. For example,
he created pinecone shaped structures from rocks and allows them to become engulfed by the ocean or
hidden by plants. He explains how his art exemplifies how he wants people to view change, saying I
haven t simply made the piece to be destroyed by the sea... The work has been given to the sea as a
gift, and the sea has taken the gift and made more of it than I could have ever hoped for. Paired with
the calming yet slightly eerie soundtrack in the clip, it represents the uncertainty that comes with
change and although the feeling of anxiety can be overwhelming, you can still survive. Goldsworthy
goes on, And I think that if I can see in that way of understanding those things that happen to us in life
that changes our lives that causes upheavals and shocks... he pauses mid sentence, unable to describe
it for other people s experiences, and simply ends with I can t explain that. His art, based around this
natural change, is a metaphor for how he wants people to view change; the cones may be engulfed, but
they are still there, and in the end, it still stands.
The response to change can and will most often times will contain mixed feelings. This is the case in
Life After People by Dolores Vasquez. When humans disappear, there is chaos: wrecks from driverless
cars and planes... power plants stop providing electricity...

Probable Cause Trial
So you have broken the law, whether or not you had a warrant for your arrest, or not, and now you
have to stand trial. During this time, you may be wondering what s ahead on your journey to being
found innocent or guilty. There are many different things that you will have to endure, and it may be a
long process. Today, I will be writing about the steps from the time you have your initial appearance
until the time the judge gives the verdict on whether or not you are found guilty. After you have been
arrested, you are then taken in to booking at the police or sheriff s department. This means that the
police simply put you into their system. Once there, you have to give them your basic information,
give fingerprints and a mugshot, go through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will be told what you are being charged with and you will then give your plea of guilty, not guilty
or no contest. If you plead guilty, you have to explain what you did in detail and why you committed
the crime. If you ever have another trial, this can be used against you at a later time. You may also be
entitled to a plea bargain. A plea bargain is granted, you may get out with a lesser charge than what
you were originally charged with, or a lesser punishment. If you have more than one charge and plead
guilty, the prosecutor may even drop the other charges. If a plea bargain cannot be agreed upon, the
defense and prosecutor will come up with an agreement together and the judge will then have to agree
or disagree with what he or she thinks is best. If you plead not guilty, you will go to a criminal trial.
Then you have the no contest plea, which is kind of admitting to the charge, but not taking any
responsibility for the crime. An example would be getting a speeding ticket for going 55 in a 35 and
pleading no contest in court and getting off with just paying a fine. If you plead no contest once in a
criminal case, you cannot use it

Comparing The Architecture Of Sears And Montgomery Ward
Sears and Montgomery Ward catalog homes are a hallmark of innovation in American architecture and
history, with this in mind our team went about renovating the experimental Maytown, a classic
example of architectural focus on practical composition. Designed and fabricated during the pre 1900
era, The house parallels the time period s functional yet ornate approach to architecture and design.
The exterior Queen Anne design of this piece of Americana is a prime example of the convergence of
architectural styles, coextending the converging cultures of pre 1900s America. This is why our team
decided to continue this architectural theme throughout the addition, and detached garage. This was
accomplished through the repetition of the key design

Dangers Of Peer Pressure On Girls
Dangers of Peer Pressure on Girls As a little girl I had much confidence about myself and felt I looked
the best from my school as well as many other girls from my school. Nowadays, many girls are
pressured into being perfect in a way they feel they will never accomplish. Little girls such as ten year
olds have started to show low self esteem and hate to their body image because of the models that are
being constantly promoted. As 10TV stated, When you were 10 or 11, you probably didn t give much
thought to body image. Today, kids that age are worried more about looking like Barbie than playing
Barbie. Girls are punishing themselves with cutting, going on extreme diets, and often kill themselves
because they hate themselves. Girls are also seen wearing makeup at a young age to improve their
facial features and think they will now finally be accepted in society as being perfect. A recent Mintel
survey showed that six out of ten seven year olds wear lipstick, and two in five use eyeshadows. (
Pretty Pressure: Girls it pays to be pretty, but not too pretty. ) So even though social media is showing
off beautiful women to give good advertisement, girls are being affected by constantly feeling down
and wanting to fit into society and be accepted and seen as perfect, they hate themselves for not being
pretty enough as celebrities that have gone through many surgeries to get that perfect image, and some
cases have led to issues such as depression, cutting, eating problem, and

Short And Long Term Effects Of The Greek Revolution
The Ottoman Turks first ruled over Greece when it captured Constantinople and eventually the rest of
Greece. This put Greece and a variety of other countries in their power. The Greeks wanted liberation
from the Turks from the start and began having unsuccessful rebellions that eventually lead to the
rebellion in the Peloponnese, where the war is said to have really begun. They were inspired by the
successes of the French Revolution and felt responsible for the preservation and development of their
culture. This bonded them together and made them feel nationalism. The Greek War of Independence
was a successful liberal movement that achieved their goals and was revolutionary. Under the
Ottoman rule, the Greeks were not happy. The Muslim Turks ... Show more content on

Starting with the short term effects, the first matter to be solved was the land question. After the
Greeks had won, there were plots of land abandoned by the Turks. The Greek government eventually
gave each peasant family and veteran 20 acres of the confiscated land too small for prosperity, but
enough to show that they believed that each Greek could be self sustainable. Next, with one part of the
population of Greeks independent, they needed to figure out what their relationship was with all of the
Greek nation. In response, they made a policy in which all Greeks were unified. Onto the long term
effects, the revolt is a crucial in Ottoman history because it started a wave of rebellions against them
eventually leading to their demise and the creation of new Mediterranean states. The Greek revolution
was in no way the first rebellion against the Ottoman Empire, but it was the first successful one with
foreign involvement. The Ottoman empire was made up of a variety of people of different races and
beliefs. After the Greek success, the remaining people and Greeks in the Ottoman empire were
inspired to make their own stand for independence and many would succeed. Not only was the
revolution important to Ottoman history, but it was obviously important to the Greek s history as well.
When King Otto was on the throne, it was almost as if nothing had changed. He imposed the same
high taxes just as the Ottoman Empire (maybe even higher) and ruled as an absolute monarch. Based
off the revolution, the chance that the Greeks would keep still was close to none. They revolted in
1843 and forced him to sign a new Constitution and instituted a constitutional monarchy. Eventually,
he would prove to be a ruler unfit of Greece and was deposed of. This also inspired more Greeks to be
a part of politics. Besides King Otto, one other problem layed in the failure to create a

Argumentative Essay On The 13th Amendment
By the time the sun barely peeks over the horizon, several others and I have been working the fields
for hours. We pick cotton until our fingers bleed. If my first strip isn t done before noon, the whip will
come slashing. If I complete my strip and take a break before moving on to the next section, the whip
will come slashing. If my legs give out and can no longer support my weight, the whip will come
slashing. When I was informed about the new amendment to the constitution tears welled up in my
eyes as I took a step towards freedom, or what I thought was freedom. The thirteenth amendment
brought forth the idea that slavery would be abolished. However, the congressmen left a loophole in
the amendment, allowing slavery to continue, but under another name. The thirteenth amendment was
the first to abolish slavery, or so people say. The thirteenth amendment reads, Neither slavery nor
involuntary servitude except as punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly
convicted shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction, the
constitution. This amendment could easily fool people into believing that all was right within the
world. However, soon after this amendment was added to the constitution unjust laws started to pop
up within the states, When slavery was legally abolished. A new set of laws called Black Codes
emerged to criminalize legal activity for African Americans. Through the enforcement of these laws,

Amy Cortez Change Analysis
The two parts of the work together are titled Change , created by Amy Cortez. The skull on the first
butterfly is an odd contrast to the overall figure. The work is very colorful and bright. The second
butterfly is monochrome and flat, and hangs on a string from the ceiling.
The first component of the work is a butterfly shape with a raised neon green and orange skull in the
center. It is in a black frame with a black background. Colorful patterns radiate out from the skull onto
the wings, first into leaves, and then to looping, wavy shapes. The leaves and skull are shades of
green, and the other colors are yellow, blue, pink, brown, and red. Small, repeating dark green
semicircles outline the butterfly and extend to the black background. ... Show more content on

They do not attempt to represent these things as they are in nature, but still use recognizable shapes to
signify them. The colorful butterfly is a collage made of fabric paint, ribbon, and textured paper. On
the colorful butterfly, the skull is meant to draw attention, as it is in the center of the work, slightly
raised, and is different colors than the wings. The irregular lines and organic shapes of the patterns
radiate out from the skull, guiding the eye to the butterfly outline. This butterfly is the plate used to
create the second. The second, with an absence of color, gets the viewer s attention with its unusual
placement. It contrasts the first butterfly in both color and material. The eye is drawn to the darker
elements in the center and the border.
The butterfly is often used as a symbol of rebirth, which connects with the title of Change . The raised
skull of the first butterfly evokes death, but its bright, cheerful colors and central position seem to
suggest that death in this work is not to be feared, and is even necessary. The second butterfly, hanging
freely from the ceiling, is noticeably different from the first, again invoking the idea of change.
Change here is then often painful, but it is needed and can even be

Examples Of Creon As A Tragic Figure In Antigone
Aristotle, an ancient Greek philosopher, defines a tragic figure as one who represents goodness,
superiority, a tragic flaw, and a realization of their tragic flaw and inevitability. A tragic figure is
normally someone of royalty, or importance, and also experiences a great devastation. A big flaw of a
tragic hero is usually their pride. The figure will experience an ironic plot twist, where they realize
things are not what they expected, and then are to face the reality of their fate. In, The Theban Plays,
by Sophocles (translated by E. F. Watling), the characters Creon and Antigone represent tragic figures.
In the play Antigone, Sophocles depicts the character Creon as a tragic hero. Creon portrays many
characteristics of a tragic figure. His tragic story begins when makes the decision of becoming a
hubris. A hubris is one who ignores the gods, and follows their own path. When Creon does this, his
decisions greatly affect the fate of his loved ones; his son, wife and Antigone. Along with Creon,
Antigone portrays a tragic hero in as well. Antigone s tragic fate comes from her loyalty to her family
and the gods. She chooses to stick to her own beliefs, rather than having obedience towards the king,
and this was the cause of her downfall.
Creon is first portrayed as a leader with rational laws and consequences for breaking them. But by the
end of the play, Creon is a completely different character; he has let his excessive pride and hubris
take over him. He doesn t realize his change in character until it is brought to him through the
prophecy of Teiresias, when it is already too late. Creon can be identified as a tragic hero because he
shows great signs of stubbornness and pride. Considering he is the King of Thebes, he follows his
rules and laws without listening to his citizen s concerns, nor does he care about the gods wishes. His
role as a hubris influences many of his choices, he believes in only his own thoughts and wishes.
Creon abuses his power just because he can, without thinking of the consequences.
Creon becomes so prideful to the point where he will not listen to anyone, and will not acknowledge
he is wrong. During a conversation with Haemon, Creon tells him, No. I am king, and only

Christ And The Sea
Christ and the Sea
Santiago is an old fisherman from Cuba. He s a man who doesn t have much, except for a strong will.
From the things he does to the things that he says, he is perceived, by the means of literary analysis, as
a Christ figure. For one thing, Santiago is a fisherman. This is the clearest biblical allusion in the
entire novel, and it comes straight from the title itself. His endurance throughout the book also reflects
the spirit of faith that Christ had, giving us the impression that the old man might have some sort of
unspoken bond with the fish, like Christ with his strong love for humanity. The old man struggles and
even succeeds in his attempt to catch the fish, only to see it ripped and torn away from him. This is
parallel to the story of Christ, who had to bear suffering and betrayal until his death. In many senses,
Santiago s endeavor symbolizes the labor of Christ described in the Gospels. The Ichthys has its origin
from the well known miracle about how Christ fed five thousand with five small loaves and two fish .
The religious symbolism behind the Jesus Fish is reiterated a multitude of times throughout the Bible.
Several of Jesus disciples are fisherman, and He even goes as far as to tell them that he will make
them fishers of men . Further ahead, Jesus is offered grilled fish after having been resurrected. The
significance of fish in the Bible is a large one, and it s no different in The Old Man and the Sea. Most

The Hidden Characteristics Of The Renaissance
The Baroque style is the product of the obsession with perfection from the Renaissance and the
strangeness of the Mannerists. These two periods combine with each other and what you get is the
Baroque. The Renaissance had hidden meanings and complex theologies hidden in their paintings.
The Baroque simplified that formula and made art more accessible to people, no hidden meanings and
no hidden symbols. Not only did it have this but the Baroque just did not simply tell a story but a
moment in time from that story. This moment in time technique not only allowed for some
showmanship in skill but allowed the viewer to take part of the moment with usually and empty space
for the viewer. Because of this does the viewer remain just that, a viewer or do we become part
narrative? This interaction between the viewer and the art is no longer like the outside and miniscule
feeling one gets from looking at the perfection of Renaissance masters. And it is definitely not like the
strange exchange and confusion that comes from the harsh mannerists. But rather, the Baroque offers
the viewer a space in the scene, an interaction. It is often warm and inviting when appropriate and
allows even uneducated people to understand what is going on. The Baroque has more of a human
quality than a divine one. The use of spot lighting by certain artists such as Caravaggio and his
followers allow the story to become the most important and the interaction between the viewer and the
art becomes a story of its

Peace have symbolism alluding towards World War II and many hidden themes revolve around the
war. The war represents the final step in loss of innocence the boys face while at Devon. World War II
represents the imminent trials of adulthood and the triumph of evil over good in the novel. Even the
safe walls of Devon couldn t keep away the impending struggles the boys are going to face in the real

Beloved Poet, Shel Silverstein
Do you remember reading comical poetry such as The Giving Tree during your childhood? Its author,
Shel Silverstein, was one of the most recognizable children s poets and poetry icons that has ever
lived. He holds a household name due to the fact that despite his past he is able to help form a future
in language, poetry, and the arts for the innovators of tomorrow. Silverstein s works captured the
essence of a person s childhood and changed poetry and children s literature forever.
Sheldon Allan Silverstein was not always the literature icon he quickly became in the mid 20th
century. Born on September 25, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois during the Great Depression. He was not a
very sociable child. His hobbies included drawing cartoons and writing. As a result, his professional
drawing and writing career began with cartooning and writing for Playboy Magazine, in 1952. He was
also not popular with girls during his teenage year, which motivated him to write more mature poetry
in the future about love. Silverstein wanted to reach out to all age groups and express that his talent
was not only used for the entertainment of children, but for everyone. Silverstein didn t write to
impress others ... he did hope that people no matter what age, would find something to identify... and
experience a personal sense of discovery . in his poetry (Shel Silverstein 1999). Silverstein was
divorced and had one daughter, who died in her childhood. He served in the armed forces during the

Moral Of The Canterbury Tales
Now it is time to decide which tale in The Canterbury Tales, by Geoffrey Chaucer, rises above the rest.
I stated at the beginning of our journey to Canterbury that I would pick the tale that is greatest moral
teaching and in entertainment value (17). After intently listening to all of your tales, one stood out
from the others. Though many of you told stories that were offensive to other pilgrims on the trip or
told stories that had little moral significance, I determined that there is one that most fully fulfills the
requirements that I have set forth. I have decided that the Nun s Priest s Tale teaches the greatest moral
lesson while having great entertainment value, making the Nun s Priest the winner of our competition.
The Nun s Priest s Tale is a beast fable, an allegory that utilizes animals with human characteristic in
order to illustrate the message. The tale follows the story of Chanticleer, a beautiful rooster whose
voice was merrier than the merry organ that plays in church, (153). One day, a fox named Russell
comes into the yard and begins complementing Chanticleer on his singing talents, persuading him to
stick out his neck and sing with his eyes closed. Because Chanticleer is so entranced by Russell s
flattery, he closes his eyes and begins to sing, allowing Russell to be able to bite his neck and run with
him into the woods. The moral of the Nun s Priest s Tale is clear: never trust a flatterer. Chanticleers
capture is the result of being careless and

She lived through the civil rights movement, the Puerto Rican civil rights movement (yep, there was

LEADERSHIP QUALITIES How do you consistently earn the trust of world class athletes through
the decades? Produce innovative products that make them better for once. Adi Dassler s secret to
success had an additional personal ingredient: he met with athletes (some of them even as visitors in
Herzogenaurach), listened carefully to what they said and constantly observed what can be improved
or even invented to support their needs. The best of the best trusted adidas and its founder from the

Who Is Grendel In Beowulf
Grendel was written by an American author known as John Gardner in 1971. This novel retells a part
from the poem Beowulf; however, it is told from the view of Grendel. Throughout the novel there are
a multitude of characteristics shown by Grendel. After comprehending the novel from Grendel s point
of view it more pronounced that he is rather good than evil, and more so a character that is
sympathized for.
Many times the perspective people have is what leads them to make predictions about the characters
intentions. The novel Grendel gives readers the chance to alter their perspective to the point they may
believe Grendel has hopeful intentions, but executes his emotions rather terribly. Grendel is lonely,
and in a way depressed because he is unable to communicate with the villagers as well as his own
mom. He is completely isolated and all alone. At one point Grendel desires to be liked by the villagers,
so he enters the dining hall in which they eat at (Grendel 51). After he enters the hall he receives such
a negative response that he lashes out at the people (Grendel 52). Rejection can truly affect the way
someone behaves. Grendel had the utmost intentions of showing the villagers he is not a monster;
however, due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

understand their language, but cannot understand his mother nor can the villagers understand him.
This just creates another part of Grendel s life that readers begin to sympathize with. He is completely
and utterly isolated from understanding anyone else or them even understanding him. Grendel is also
mesmerized by the queen. She had brought happiness and unity to the

Death And The Elimination Of Narcissism
There are five stages to the human life cycle, birth, infancy, childhood, adolescence and adulthood.
Some people complete every stage, but tragically others do not. Although not everyone will be able to
fulfill every stage of life, all people will face something in common regardless on how it happens:
death. The significance of death to a person, among a few other aspects, is what determines how most
people live their life. To a Christian, death is not the end, but the beginning of a new life, the afterlife.
However, to an Existentialist, a person who perceives life as being determined by their own
development through acts of their will, death is the end of their existence. Whether a person believes
in the afterlife or not, the fact that everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a person does not obtain nirvana, they cannot escape the cycle of death and rebirth and will
inevitably be reborn into one of the 6 realms heaven, hell, animal, human life, asura and hungry ghost.
Heaven is the highest realm one can achieve, in Buddhism, there are 37 levels of heaven where beings
experience peace and lasting happiness without suffering. The Human life is the second highest realm
one can enter. In buddhism, humans can be reborn into human life repetitively being attractive or
unattractive, wealthy or poor, every state is a result of the Karma a person has brought with them from
previous experiences. Asura is a spiritual state of Demigods, but not like the jubilant heavenly
environment in the Heaven realm. Instead, in the Asura state Demigods are consumed with jealousy,
because unlike humans, they can can clearly see the superior situation of the gods in heaven above
them. Demigods constantly compete and struggle with the gods due to their dissatisfaction with their
desires from others. Hungry ghost is the spiritual realm of those who have committed excessive
amounts of evil deeds and are obsessed with finding food and drinks which they cannot experience,
thus remaining unsatisfied and tortured by the experience. In the constant searching the exhaust
themselves. The Animal realm is the second worse realm a person can obtain. Visible to humans, it is
where spirits of humans are reborn if they have killed animals or have committed a lot of other evil
acts. Animals do not have the freedom that humans have due to being constantly hunted by humans,
used for farming and being beasts used for entertainment. The Hell state is not visible to humans. It is
a place where beings born there experience a constant state of excruciating pain. The various hell
realms reads like a variety of horrific torture chambers. Those with a

Impulse Buying Behavior And Marketing Decision Making
Impulse Buying Behavior
It plays a very important role and position in marketing decision making. It can be explained as a
tendency of making unreflective , spontaneous, immediate, kinetic, unplanned and sudden purchases.
Impulse buying has got two parts cognitive and affective where cognitive is related with planning and
latter one with situational factors leading to an impulse purchase. It provides hedonic reinforcement
and reduces overload of selection. It is revealed that cognitive component of impulse buying is
negatively related with subjective wellbeing, whereas affective component is associated to negative
affect and customer susceptibility to interpersonal influence. It was concluded by exploring relation of
impulse buying with individual traits.
Earlier researches, however, also prove empirically that impulse purchase behavior is not merely
function of personal traits, or impulse buying tendency, rather it the type of product which also has
significant impact on this phenomenon. Gender difference in impulse buying and impulse buying
tendency, during purchase of various product categories; have also been found significant in earlier
researches. Product Involvement Product involvement means the general level of.interest in the.object,
or the centrality of the object.to the person s ego structure (Day, 1970, p. 45) . In simple words, it
refers to the attributes or characteristics linked to a certain product relative to customer like its

The Politics Of The Founding Fathers Time
Politics is defined as the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area,
especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power. I
think this definition is perfect for American politics. Our government is constantly changing. There
are new members of government being voted in, committees trying to get their ideas voted into law,
and the Supreme Court is constantly interrupting the Constitution in new ways for our ever changing
society. This all is included in the debate and conflict of parties trying to gain a foothold of power in
our ever changing democracy. I think democracy looks far different today than in the founding fathers
time. I am excited to further discuss my thoughts in this reflection paper. The first topics I would like
to discuss are from the first chapter. The book briefly touches on the concept of globalization as the
increasing communication and interdependence of people, countries and governments around the
world. I think that this ties heavily in with our current presidential election. The world always watches
the American political stage but I think that this year many more people are watching their election. I
also think many of these people are watching in fear that Trump will be elected. In turn as an
American I watch the political stages of countries such as China, Russia and more recently Brazil. I
think that this shows how as a global people we are starting to recognize the impact

Dentist Observation
The second year student I observed was very organized and passionate while helping her patient.
Since this was the last of four visits she had with her patient, she was sweet enough to purchase baby
socks for him because his wife was expecting in a few weeks. I loved how personal she made his
experience at the clinic. He said the only reason he was visiting a dentist for the first time in over
fifteen years was to set a good example for his soon to be son. From what I could tell, the student was
ergonomically correct for the majority of the appointment. Her body positions were different than
when I observed another student during my first observation.
I. Preparation: I did not come in early to watch the set up of the unit for this appointment because I
arrived an hour early in my last observation, and I feel pretty comfortable setting up and wiping down
the unit. The student reviewed everything in the patient s chart even though this was her fourth
appointment with him. The treatment area, the maxillary left quadrant, needed local anesthetic before
progressing forward with the procedure. She got a short needle ready for an injection to check off on

risk factors were discussed with the patient, but he was extremely apprehensive about his mandibular
right canine. It was out of alignment and bleeds profusely whenever he brushes and flosses. All of his
other teeth bleed, but not nearly as bad as that specific tooth. The patient was really trying to take care

Zodiac Symbols In The Go-Between By L. P. Hartley
The Go Between by L.P. Hartley features the narrator, Leo Colston who has found and is rereading his
childhood diary from the summer of 1900. This summer is paramount in Leo s personal development
and the shaping of his views of the world. In the summer of 1900, Leo was approaching his thirteenth
birthday and staying with his friend and schoolmate Marcus Maudsley at Marcus family s estate,
Brandham Hall. There, Leo is forced to confront class, love, and loss of innocence throughout the
course of this summer. Leo s story is retold when he finds the diary that he kept that summer. Leo s
diary entries show his affinity for Zodiac symbols, which was inspired by the astrological symbols
that are at the beginning of the diary. Leo used these symbols ... Show more content on

the shed that Ted and Marian would use to rendezvous. Leo ultimately decides not to use the
nightshade as it is deadly. However, the nightshade does cause Leo to fall ill and he has to go home
soon after. Ted Burgess commits suicide soon after Marian s mother finds them having sex in the shed.
It was then that we saw them, together on the ground, the Virgin and the Water carrier, two bodies
moving like one. (Hartley. 305). Leo holds himself partially responsible for the death of Ted due to his
magic spell that was only meant to break up the couple. However, Leo ends up physically hurting
himself as well. This brings forward the idea that Leo saw himself closely related to Ted Burgess. Leo
does not want to be Ted, because it reinforces Leo s own class status and inability to break out of it in

The Key Role Of The 1936 Summer Olympic Games
The Crucial Role of the 1936 Summer Olympic Games
In May of 1931, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) selected Berlin, Germany as the site for
the 1936 Summer Olympic Games, however, they did not know that in just two short years one of the
most notorious, ruthless and supressive regimes, and it s leader, ever known to man would be elected
to lead Germany. The National Socialist German Workers (Nazi) Party was founded on February 24,
1920, in Munich, Germany. After suffering from a terrible humiliation and loss at the conclusion of
World War One, the German people were hungry for change, wanted a sense of pride for being
German, and a reason to have hope for the future, all of these things were exactly what the Nazi Party
promised ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the IOC selected Berlin as the site for the 1936 Summer Olympic Games, they had no idea that
in just a few short years Germany would be transformed from a humble, desperate state to a ruthless
and power hungry empire. The first part of German Society to undergo a transformation by the Nazi
Party was the German government, which underwent a major change on January 30, 1933, [when] the
German President, Paul von Hindenburg, appointed Adolf Hitler chancellor, the head of the
government. (Bachrach 16). In order to gain power and stay in power, the Nazi Party needed to win
over the hearts and minds of the German people; in order to do this, Hitler and the Nazis promised
[the] birth of a New Germany, giving hope to many Germans fearful of the future. (Bachrach 16). To
accomplish their goal of giving birth to a New Germany, the policies of the Nazi government were
aimed at restoring Germany s importance as a country, following its defeat in the First World War. Its
methods, in addition to strong nationalist rhetoric and demonstrations, included targeting groups it
claimed to be responsible for the economic ills of the country, principally Jews, who became the
regime s preferred target of discrimination. (Pound 65). When other countries and groups heard about
the discrimination and mistreatment of Jews and other ethnic groups being committed by this new
Nazi Party, they started to question whether or not the Olympic Games should still be held in

Machiavellian Politics In Richard III And Henry V By...
William Shakespeare wrote his histories focusing on an individual historical character and how they
interact with their community as well as how it affect them or how they affected it. In Richard III, the
titular character ambition is to become a true king, but being the youngest of three brothers (who have
male sons as well) his chances are very slim so he ascends into the throne by deceit and murder. In
Henry V, the titular character agrees to go to war to extend his influence onto France over a confusing
reason by clergymen. Shakespeare, through both of the monarchs of these plays, explores
Machiavellian politics and what it means to be live by these principles. Although both Richard the
Third and Henry the Fifth are Machiavellians by having the ability to be a constant actor and doing
whatever it takes to remain in power, but by having Henry succeed in the end shows how superior of a
Machiavellian he was because he had a concrete goal in mind throughout Henry V. As Machiavellians,
Richard III and Henry V become actors, acting differently in certain situations to be able so that they
will benefit, but in these situations Henry V has noble aims. Richard s goal just seems to become the
King(1.1.140 148). In a true Machiavellian fashion, he deceives several people like his brothers and
the common people to try and advance his goal. When he is talking with Clarence his imprisoned
brother he tells him, your imprisonment shall not be long; I will deliver you. He is

Edward Said States Essay
No Place Like Home Edward Said s States is an excerpt from his book After the Last Sky: Palestinian
Lives. It s a story about Palestine, once a country, but now spread out into a million pieces of the
people that once called it home. The pieces being more of memories of a time when Palestinians could
be who they are, not a scattered and forgotten people. They all face a new struggle, a struggle to find
their identity. Identity who we are, where we come from, what we are is difficult to maintain in exile.
Most other people take their identity for granted. Not the Palestinian, who is required to show proofs
of identity more or less constantly. (Page 546) Said, being Palestinian himself, tells us this story in
what was called a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, I don t know if any other approach would have been this effective. This allows we as
readers to see more into the lives of Palestinians, rather than just read about it. Said starts off the story
describing a picture of the wedding of a Palestinian couple. Instead of describing the obvious of what
was happening in the picture, Said goes on to describe it in a way that only a true Palestinian would be
able to see. Cutting across the wedding party s path here is the ever present Mercedes, emblazoned
with its extra mark of authenticity, the proud D for Deutschland. A rare luxury in the West, the
Mercedes usually secondhand and smuggled in in the commonest of cars in the Levant. (Page 541) To
someone who did not grow up in Palestine, they would not know this piece of information. Pictures
such as this would provoke feelings and memories only a Palestinian would know. They would
remember a time that they were forced to forget. A time when they were forced to leave the only home
they ever knew. Before I read what Said had to say about his point of view, I never would have
thought farther into the picture other than the fact it was a picture of someone s wedding day. This is a
good example of why Said s choice of hybrid writing is effective in what he wants us as readers to
know. It brings us into his mind and allows us to understand a little better.

Critical Analysis Of David Sedaris s Me Talk Pretty One Day
Critical Analysis Essay
In his essay, Me Talk Pretty One Day, David Sedaris uses humor and satire, to chronicle his time as a
student in a French language class while living in France. Sedaris creatively expresses his external and
internal struggles as a student in his later years, bringing real life examples of how he overcame his
obstacles to obtain his educational goals. Through careful research and critical analysis, this essay
effectively proves that despite adversity, self doubt, and preconceived notions of what college age is,
acquiring a higher education is possible.
Adversity comes in all shapes and sizes. For Sedaris, adversity came in the shape of a well tanned
French instructor. From day one, the French instructor left no doubt about how each person was going
to be treated. As Sedaris exclaimed, one of her first responses to a student was filled with sarcasm and
venom, Oh, really, the teacher said. How very interesting. I thought that everyone loved the mosquito,
but here, in front of all the world, you claim to detest him. How is it that we ve been blessed with
someone as unique and original as you? Tell us, please. This set the tone for the rest of the class that
day... and the days to come. Sedaris maintains throughout his writing that the humiliation did not stop
there. She methodically, one by one, would verbally castrate each student as he or she responded to
her questions. She managed to shower each student with an array of critiques. This was but a gateway
for negative treatment, The teacher licked her lips, revealing a hint of the sadist we would later come
to know... showing that his instructor relished in belittling her students. Sedaris instructor would take
every opportunity to belittle him and his peers by name calling and blatantly pointing out their
mistakes. I d head off to class, where the teacher would hold my corrected paperwork, high above her
head, shouting, Here s proof that David is an ignorant and uninspired ensigiejsokhjx , and, Were you
always this palicmkrexjs? she asked. Even a fiuscrzsws tociwegixp knows that a typewriter is
feminine, is one of the many ways Sedaris exclaimed how his French instructor misused her power
(Sedaris 2).

  • 2. Reflection On Self Development Through Reflection Self development through reflection is a key issue of education and learning (Kennison, 2012), where you learn through experience (Tashiro, Shimpuku, Naruse and Matsutani, 2013), learn to self evaluate (Duffy, 2013), identify gaps in knowledge and detect where further training or study is required to improve practice (Olarerin, 2013). Ultimately reflection is thought to be constant learning from practice, thus refining knowledge and experiences and putting them into practice (Naidoo, 2013). Within my reflection examples (Appendix 1) I recognised where my knowledge and experience was lacking, through self evaluation. For instance when completing an electrocardiogram (ECG). I learned through my extra reading, how completing an ECG incorrectly could cause the patient to require un necessary treatment (Houghton, 2014). Through my extra study I was able to learn where exactly where the electrodes are positioned on the body for an accurate EGC tracing to be produced (Crawford and Doherty, 2012; University of Nottingham, 2015). I used this knowledge throughout my placement and I am now confident in conducting ECG s in my future practice. In achieving self development in this example I linked my learning directly to my practice (Ross, 2014), where I developed a fundamental skill and expanded my knowledge for my continued development in my nursing career and practice (Aronson, 2011). Nursing practice Nursing practice is a key issue within reflective practice. It supports ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example: if you live in Germany, it s totally normal to drink beer at any time of the day. On the contrary English people would think of these as an insult. The Influence Of Past American Women Writers The Influence of Past American Women Writers Amy Tan, Julia Ward Howe, and Judith Sargent Murray are some of the noble women whom have helped shape the lives of their fellow gender with the talents of their writing. Much of their writing became increasingly influential years after it was written. Their literature allows today s modern readers to reflect on the humanity and the treatment of women, understand history s past, and use it as an example to continue spreading the vision of the equality of women today. Tan was known for her willingness to stand up for herself against her mother, in pursuits to find her own dreams versus those of what her mother had laid out for her (Showalter, Ch. Amy Tan ). Howe was a poet, and founder of the nation s Battle Hymn of the Republic , she was known for her activism of women s rights, abolition, and world peace (Showalter, Ch. Julia Ward Howe ). Lastly, Murray was known as the first woman of American letters, speaking for women s rights after the American Revolutionary War (Showalter, Ch. Judith Sargent Murray ). Tan, Howe, and Murray have proved to be influential not only in America s historic past, but inspiration leading to today and the future as well. These women are excellent examples to learn from in taking ownership of their women s rights and the equalities we shall have, in our still unequal world. Amy Tan was born in Oakland, California. • 7. Change In The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka Change, which is a part of nature, is inevitable. Change can range from good to bad, and oftentimes will not be as obvious as, say, people disappearing off the face of the earth or transforming into an insect. Even little changes can create chaos, such as a single miscalculation causing a drastically inaccurate solution to a complicated math equation. However, the way a person reacts positive, negative, or in between is determined primarily by the change itself. Change can be negative, both in view of the person and the change itself. This is evident in the novel The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. In the story, the main character, named Gregor, wakes up one morning transformed without reason into a bug. The work has been given to the sea as a gift, and the sea has taken the gift and made more of it than I could have ever hoped for. Paired with the calming yet slightly eerie soundtrack in the clip, it represents the uncertainty that comes with change and although the feeling of anxiety can be overwhelming, you can still survive. Goldsworthy goes on, And I think that if I can see in that way of understanding those things that happen to us in life that changes our lives that causes upheavals and shocks... he pauses mid sentence, unable to describe it for other people s experiences, and simply ends with I can t explain that. His art, based around this natural change, is a metaphor for how he wants people to view change; the cones may be engulfed, but they are still there, and in the end, it still stands. The response to change can and will most often times will contain mixed feelings. This is the case in Life After People by Dolores Vasquez. • 11. Dangers Of Peer Pressure On Girls Dangers of Peer Pressure on Girls As a little girl I had much confidence about myself and felt I looked the best from my school as well as many other girls from my school. Nowadays, many girls are pressured into being perfect in a way they feel they will never accomplish. Little girls such as ten year olds have started to show low self esteem and hate to their body image because of the models that are being constantly promoted. As 10TV stated, When you were 10 or 11, you probably didn t give much thought to body image. Today, kids that age are worried more about looking like Barbie than playing Barbie. Girls are punishing themselves with cutting, going on extreme diets, and often kill themselves because they hate themselves. Girls are also seen wearing makeup at a young age to improve their facial features and think they will now finally be accepted in society as being perfect. A recent Mintel survey showed that six out of ten seven year olds wear lipstick, and two in five use eyeshadows. ( Pretty Pressure: Girls it pays to be pretty, but not too pretty. ) So even though social media is showing off beautiful women to give good advertisement, girls are being affected by constantly feeling down and wanting to fit into society and be accepted and seen as perfect, they hate themselves for not being pretty enough as celebrities that have gone through many surgeries to get that perfect image, and some cases have led to issues such as depression, cutting, eating problem, and ... They were inspired by the successes of the French Revolution and felt responsible for the preservation and development of their culture. This bonded them together and made them feel nationalism. After the Greeks had won, there were plots of land abandoned by the Turks. The Greek government eventually gave each peasant family and veteran 20 acres of the confiscated land too small for prosperity, but enough to show that they believed that each Greek could be self sustainable. Next, with one part of the population of Greeks independent, they needed to figure out what their relationship was with all of the Greek nation. In response, they made a policy in which all Greeks were unified. Onto the long term effects, the revolt is a crucial in Ottoman history because it started a wave of rebellions against them eventually leading to their demise and the creation of new Mediterranean states. The Greek revolution was in no way the first rebellion against the Ottoman Empire, but it was the first successful one with foreign involvement. The Ottoman empire was made up of a variety of people of different races and beliefs. After the Greek success, the remaining people and Greeks in the Ottoman empire were inspired to make their own stand for independence and many would succeed. Not only was the revolution important to Ottoman history, but it was obviously important to the Greek s history as well. When King Otto was on the throne, it was almost as if nothing had changed. He imposed the same high taxes just as the Ottoman Empire (maybe even higher) and ruled as an absolute monarch. Based off the revolution, the chance that the Greeks would keep still was close to none. They revolted in 1843 and forced him to sign a new Constitution and instituted a constitutional monarchy. Eventually, he would prove to be a ruler unfit of Greece and was deposed of. This also inspired more Greeks to be a part of politics. The thirteenth amendment was the first to abolish slavery, or so people say. The thirteenth amendment reads, Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude except as punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction, the constitution. Colorful patterns radiate out from the skull onto the wings, first into leaves, and then to looping, wavy shapes. The irregular lines and organic shapes of the patterns radiate out from the skull, guiding the eye to the butterfly outline. This butterfly is the plate used to create the second. • 16. Examples Of Creon As A Tragic Figure In Antigone Aristotle, an ancient Greek philosopher, defines a tragic figure as one who represents goodness, superiority, a tragic flaw, and a realization of their tragic flaw and inevitability. A tragic figure is normally someone of royalty, or importance, and also experiences a great devastation. A big flaw of a tragic hero is usually their pride. The figure will experience an ironic plot twist, where they realize things are not what they expected, and then are to face the reality of their fate. In, The Theban Plays, by Sophocles (translated by E. F. Watling), the characters Creon and Antigone represent tragic figures. In the play Antigone, Sophocles depicts the character Creon as a tragic hero. Creon portrays many characteristics of a tragic figure. His tragic story begins when makes the decision of becoming a hubris. A hubris is one who ignores the gods, and follows their own path. When Creon does this, his decisions greatly affect the fate of his loved ones; his son, wife and Antigone. Along with Creon, Antigone portrays a tragic hero in as well. Antigone s tragic fate comes from her loyalty to her family and the gods. She chooses to stick to her own beliefs, rather than having obedience towards the king, and this was the cause of her downfall. Creon is first portrayed as a leader with rational laws and consequences for breaking them. But by the end of the play, Creon is a completely different character; he has let his excessive pride and hubris take over him. He doesn t realize his change in character until it is brought to him through the prophecy of Teiresias, when it is already too late. Creon can be identified as a tragic hero because he shows great signs of stubbornness and pride. Considering he is the King of Thebes, he follows his rules and laws without listening to his citizen s concerns, nor does he care about the gods wishes. His role as a hubris influences many of his choices, he believes in only his own thoughts and wishes. Creon abuses his power just because he can, without thinking of the consequences. Creon becomes so prideful to the point where he will not listen to anyone, and will not acknowledge he is wrong. During a conversation with Haemon, Creon tells him, No. I am king, and only ... From the things he does to the things that he says, he is perceived, by the means of literary analysis, as a Christ figure. For one thing, Santiago is a fisherman. This is the clearest biblical allusion in the entire novel, and it comes straight from the title itself. His endurance throughout the book also reflects the spirit of faith that Christ had, giving us the impression that the old man might have some sort of unspoken bond with the fish, like Christ with his strong love for humanity. The old man struggles and even succeeds in his attempt to catch the fish, only to see it ripped and torn away from him. This is parallel to the story of Christ, who had to bear suffering and betrayal until his death. In many senses, Santiago s endeavor symbolizes the labor of Christ described in the Gospels. The Ichthys has its origin from the well known miracle about how Christ fed five thousand with five small loaves and two fish . The religious symbolism behind the Jesus Fish is reiterated a multitude of times throughout the Bible. Several of Jesus disciples are fisherman, and He even goes as far as to tell them that he will make them fishers of men . Further ahead, Jesus is offered grilled fish after having been resurrected. The significance of fish in the Bible is a large one, and it s no different in The Old Man and the Sea. Most of the novel is set in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Hidden Characteristics Of The Renaissance The Baroque style is the product of the obsession with perfection from the Renaissance and the strangeness of the Mannerists. These two periods combine with each other and what you get is the Baroque. The Renaissance had hidden meanings and complex theologies hidden in their paintings. The Baroque simplified that formula and made art more accessible to people, no hidden meanings and no hidden symbols. Not only did it have this but the Baroque just did not simply tell a story but a moment in time from that story. This moment in time technique not only allowed for some showmanship in skill but allowed the viewer to take part of the moment with usually and empty space for the viewer. Because of this does the viewer remain just that, a viewer or do we become part narrative? This interaction between the viewer and the art is no longer like the outside and miniscule feeling one gets from looking at the perfection of Renaissance masters. And it is definitely not like the strange exchange and confusion that comes from the harsh mannerists. But rather, the Baroque offers the viewer a space in the scene, an interaction. It is often warm and inviting when appropriate and allows even uneducated people to understand what is going on. The Baroque has more of a human quality than a divine one. The use of spot lighting by certain artists such as Caravaggio and his followers allow the story to become the most important and the interaction between the viewer and the art becomes a story of its ... Its author, Shel Silverstein, was one of the most recognizable children s poets and poetry icons that has ever lived. He holds a household name due to the fact that despite his past he is able to help form a future in language, poetry, and the arts for the innovators of tomorrow. Silverstein s works captured the essence of a person s childhood and changed poetry and children s literature forever. Sheldon Allan Silverstein was not always the literature icon he quickly became in the mid 20th century. Born on September 25, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois during the Great Depression. He was not a very sociable child. His hobbies included drawing cartoons and writing. As a result, his professional drawing and writing career began with cartooning and writing for Playboy Magazine, in 1952. • 21. Moral Of The Canterbury Tales Now it is time to decide which tale in The Canterbury Tales, by Geoffrey Chaucer, rises above the rest. I stated at the beginning of our journey to Canterbury that I would pick the tale that is greatest moral teaching and in entertainment value (17). After intently listening to all of your tales, one stood out from the others. Though many of you told stories that were offensive to other pilgrims on the trip or told stories that had little moral significance, I determined that there is one that most fully fulfills the requirements that I have set forth. I have decided that the Nun s Priest s Tale teaches the greatest moral lesson while having great entertainment value, making the Nun s Priest the winner of our competition. The Nun s Priest s Tale is a beast fable, an allegory that utilizes animals with human characteristic in order to illustrate the message. The tale follows the story of Chanticleer, a beautiful rooster whose voice was merrier than the merry organ that plays in church, (153). One day, a fox named Russell comes into the yard and begins complementing Chanticleer on his singing talents, persuading him to stick out his neck and sing with his eyes closed. Because Chanticleer is so entranced by Russell s flattery, he closes his eyes and begins to sing, allowing Russell to be able to bite his neck and run with him into the woods. The moral of the Nun s Priest s Tale is clear: never trust a flatterer. Chanticleers capture is the result of being careless and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Who Is Grendel In Beowulf Grendel was written by an American author known as John Gardner in 1971. This novel retells a part from the poem Beowulf; however, it is told from the view of Grendel. Throughout the novel there are a multitude of characteristics shown by Grendel. After comprehending the novel from Grendel s point of view it more pronounced that he is rather good than evil, and more so a character that is sympathized for. Many times the perspective people have is what leads them to make predictions about the characters intentions. The novel Grendel gives readers the chance to alter their perspective to the point they may believe Grendel has hopeful intentions, but executes his emotions rather terribly. Grendel is lonely, and in a way depressed because he is unable to communicate with the villagers as well as his own mom. He is completely isolated and all alone. At one point Grendel desires to be liked by the villagers, so he enters the dining hall in which they eat at (Grendel 51). Some people complete every stage, but tragically others do not. Although not everyone will be able to fulfill every stage of life, all people will face something in common regardless on how it happens: death. The significance of death to a person, among a few other aspects, is what determines how most people live their life. To a Christian, death is not the end, but the beginning of a new life, the afterlife. • 26. Impulse Buying Behavior And Marketing Decision Making Impulse Buying Behavior It plays a very important role and position in marketing decision making. It can be explained as a tendency of making unreflective , spontaneous, immediate, kinetic, unplanned and sudden purchases. Impulse buying has got two parts cognitive and affective where cognitive is related with planning and latter one with situational factors leading to an impulse purchase. It provides hedonic reinforcement and reduces overload of selection. It is revealed that cognitive component of impulse buying is negatively related with subjective wellbeing, whereas affective component is associated to negative affect and customer susceptibility to interpersonal influence. It was concluded by exploring relation of impulse buying with individual traits. Earlier researches, however, also prove empirically that impulse purchase behavior is not merely function of personal traits, or impulse buying tendency, rather it the type of product which also has significant impact on this phenomenon. Gender difference in impulse buying and impulse buying tendency, during purchase of various product categories; have also been found significant in earlier researches. • 27. The Politics Of The Founding Fathers Time Politics is defined as the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power. I think this definition is perfect for American politics. Our government is constantly changing. There are new members of government being voted in, committees trying to get their ideas voted into law, and the Supreme Court is constantly interrupting the Constitution in new ways for our ever changing society. This all is included in the debate and conflict of parties trying to gain a foothold of power in our ever changing democracy. I think democracy looks far different today than in the founding fathers time. I am excited to further discuss my thoughts in this reflection paper. The first topics I would like to discuss are from the first chapter. The book briefly touches on the concept of globalization as the increasing communication and interdependence of people, countries and governments around the world. I think that this ties heavily in with our current presidential election. The world always watches the American political stage but I think that this year many more people are watching their election. I also think many of these people are watching in fear that Trump will be elected. In turn as an American I watch the political stages of countries such as China, Russia and more recently Brazil. • 32. Machiavellian Politics In Richard III And Henry V By... William Shakespeare wrote his histories focusing on an individual historical character and how they interact with their community as well as how it affect them or how they affected it. In Richard III, the titular character ambition is to become a true king, but being the youngest of three brothers (who have male sons as well) his chances are very slim so he ascends into the throne by deceit and murder. In Henry V, the titular character agrees to go to war to extend his influence onto France over a confusing reason by clergymen. Shakespeare, through both of the monarchs of these plays, explores Machiavellian politics and what it means to be live by these principles. Although both Richard the Third and Henry the Fifth are Machiavellians by having the ability to be a constant actor and doing whatever it takes to remain in power, but by having Henry succeed in the end shows how superior of a Machiavellian he was because he had a concrete goal in mind throughout Henry V. As Machiavellians, Richard III and Henry V become actors, acting differently in certain situations to be able so that they will benefit, but in these situations Henry V has noble aims. Richard s goal just seems to become the King(1.1.140 148). In a true Machiavellian fashion, he deceives several people like his brothers and the common people to try and advance his goal. Identity who we are, where we come from, what we are is difficult to maintain in exile. Most other people take their identity for granted. This allows we as readers to see more into the lives of Palestinians, rather than just read about it. Said starts off the story describing a picture of the wedding of a Palestinian couple. Instead of describing the obvious of what was happening in the picture, Said goes on to describe it in a way that only a true Palestinian would be able to see. Cutting across the wedding party s path here is the ever present Mercedes, emblazoned with its extra mark of authenticity, the proud D for Deutschland. A rare luxury in the West, the Mercedes usually secondhand and smuggled in in the commonest of cars in the Levant. Before I read what Said had to say about his point of view, I never would have thought farther into the picture other than the fact it was a picture of someone s wedding day. • 34. Critical Analysis Of David Sedaris s Me Talk Pretty One Day Critical Analysis Essay In his essay, Me Talk Pretty One Day, David Sedaris uses humor and satire, to chronicle his time as a student in a French language class while living in France. Sedaris creatively expresses his external and internal struggles as a student in his later years, bringing real life examples of how he overcame his obstacles to obtain his educational goals. Through careful research and critical analysis, this essay effectively proves that despite adversity, self doubt, and preconceived notions of what college age is, acquiring a higher education is possible. Adversity comes in all shapes and sizes. For Sedaris, adversity came in the shape of a well tanned French instructor. From day one, the French instructor left no doubt about how each person was going to be treated. As Sedaris exclaimed, one of her first responses to a student was filled with sarcasm and venom, Oh, really, the teacher said. How very interesting. I thought that everyone loved the mosquito, but here, in front of all the world, you claim to detest him. How is it that we ve been blessed with someone as unique and original as you? Tell us, please. This set the tone for the rest of the class that day... and the days to come. Sedaris maintains throughout his writing that the humiliation did not stop there. She methodically, one by one, would verbally castrate each student as he or she responded to her questions. She managed to shower each student with an array of critiques. This was but a gateway for negative treatment, The teacher licked her lips, revealing a hint of the sadist we would later come to know... showing that his instructor relished in belittling her students. Sedaris instructor would take every opportunity to belittle him and his peers by name calling and blatantly pointing out their mistakes. I d head off to class, where the teacher would hold my corrected paperwork, high above her head, shouting, Here s proof that David is an ignorant and uninspired ensigiejsokhjx , and, Were you always this palicmkrexjs? she asked.
