Zionism Essay examples
Zionism
In the years just after World War II, Zionism (the desire to rebuild a Jewish national presence in
the Promised Land) became a popular Jewish cause all around the world. Many Jews who were
not practicing Judaism at all with religion became involved with the establishment of the State of
Israel. Even today, many years after the successful founding of the State of Israel, there are Jews
whose only real tie to Judaism is their belief in Zionism and their support for the State of Israel.
They are joined by many Jews who are members of synagogues and support a modern Jewish
religious movement, but who also find their prime identity as Jews in the Zionist cause.
Broadly speaking, Zionists are proud that a small and struggling state ... Show more content on

Or they may be agnostics, unsure of whether or not God exists. Among religions, Judaism is
somewhat unique in that it makes room for both atheists and agnostics to remain Jewish. It is
often pointed out that there is no positive commandment in the Torah requiring a Jew to believe
in God. When it comes to belief, the Torah commands that Jews adhere to the laws of the
covenant, which means that idolatry (the belief in many gods) is forbidden. But a person can
theoretically live an exemplary Jewish life without a belief in God. Moreover, connection with
the Jewish people is determined by birth, not by belief. If a person is born a Jew (or converts to
Judaism), he or she is identified as a Jew. There is no question about this. Even the most religious
Jew accepts birth (or conversion) as the only criteria for membership in the Jewish people.
ORTHODOX JUDAISM
Religious Jews today disagree on what Judaism is and what it should be. Orthodox Jews claim to
hold the true religion of Judaism. In fact, Orthodoxy only began to organize and solidify its beliefs
in the nineteenth century, in direct response to the Reform movement. To this day, there is less
agreement among Orthodox Jews about what being Orthodox means especially about how
particular laws should be followed than there is disagreement in any of the other modern
movements. So, for example, the State of Israel has two chief rabbis to serve the Orthodox one of

Fiscal Policies And The Fiscal Policy
Before we talk about ways to assess fiscal policy of an economy, I would like to describe what
we mean by fiscal policies and why it is important for an economy. Fiscal policy is the use of
government revenues and expenditure to influence growth of an economy. Fiscal policies that
increase demand in an economy are called as expansionary policy whereas those which reduce
demand are called as contractionary fiscal policies. These policies are most effective in a fixed
exchange rate regime with perfect capital mobility while they are less effective if the exchange
rate is flexible. These policies are used to tackle cyclicality, external account imbalances and
inflationary problems. In the following sections, I will discuss describe various roles of fiscal
policy, how the fiscal policies should be designed, how to assess its sustainability. The essay will
end with a brief policy recommendation on fiscal policies which should be generally followed by
the governments. The government uses fiscal policy to achieve its short term and long term
objectives. Short run objective mainly includes macroeconomic stabilization by responding to
various domestic and international shocks such as natural disasters, terms of trade shock, financial
crisis etc., while in the long run the government goals can be to eradicate poverty, improve
infrastructure or have structural changes in labor market. Although countries broadly share these
objective, but the priorities may change as per country s need

The Self Destruction Of Willy Loman
In Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller, Willy Loman s life seems to be slowly deteriorating. It
is clear that Willy s predicament is of his own doing, and that his own foolish pride and
ignorance lead to his downfall. Willy s self destruction involved the uniting of several aspects of
his life and his lack of grasping reality in each, consisting of, his relationship with his wife, his
relationship and manner in which he brought up his children, Biff and Happy, and lastly his
inability to productively earn a living and in doing so, failure to achieve his American Dream .
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Willy s relationship with his wife is clearly a cause of his collapse.

At one point in the play, Willy says, Biff is a lazy bum (16). Moments later in the same
conversation with Linda, Willy adds, There s one thing about Biff, he s not lazy (16). Even
when confronted by his boys, Willy is unable to deal with the truth, that his sons won t amount
to very much at all. He ignores reality very well, and instead of pointing out that Biff hasn t
established himself yet, Willy tells Biff, You re well liked, Biff....And I m telling you, Biff, and
babe you want... (26). The boys are clearly aware of their status and the status of their father, and
Happy is found putting Willy s personality in a nutshell, Well, let s face it: he s [Willy] no hot
shot selling man. Except that sometimes, you have to admit he s a sweet personality (66).
Obviously, Willie s failure to bring up his children effectively, and his delusional thinking
including denial of reality helps fortify his depleting condition and confusion. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp; nbsp; The single most weighted factor that edges Willie to his demise is his inability to
make a living and achieve his American Dream . After being a salesman for many years, Willy
just can t cope with the fact that he hasn t been successful at all. He believes that he is a terrific
salesman. His imaginative thinking won t let him accept the fact that he has become a failure
instead of a wealthy businessman. Willy believes that to be well liked is the means to being

Depression in International Students Essay
Depression is one of the many problems that International Students face. It s a problem that
affects their day to activities and if left unattended can cause a lot of harm. It is called the
common cold of mental illness (Mental Health Info Links, 2001). Depression was compared with
100 other diseases and it was ranked fourth in the global burden by the World Health Organisation
(WHO). There is a fear that it might rise to second it diagnosis, treatment or prevention is not

This results in few friends and international students tending to isolate themselves or keeping to a
group of the same language. Depression comes into effect for those that cannot find peers of the
same language. Therefore being forced to have very or no friend which leads to loneliness and
depression. The barrier between international students and English speaking students create
obstacles that impede the building of interpersonal relationships with fellow students. International
students not fluent with the English language experience difficulties that students who are fluent
do not. They difficulties include needing extra time to read assigned reading, difficulties
understanding class lectures and discussions, and difficulties communicating concerns and view
points (Tam. K, Donghyuck. L, Huang. L, 2007) International students tend to disconnect from
their previous social life and find new connections to develop new social Support networks in their
new host country (Tam. K, Donghyuck. L, Huang. L, 2007). Pedersen (1991), point out that a loss
of social support as an impact on the psychological well being of an international student. The
unpleasant experience of forming new support networks in host country leads to feeling of
disappointment and discontent. Overtime, these feeling lead to social isolation (Mallinckrodt and
Leong 1992).

Why I Should Do Or Should I Not
Two things kept going back and forth in my head, should I do or should I not. As walked to my
car from work, I kept starring at my phone thinking an answer would appear on the screen. Then
I sat in my car contemplating for another fifth teen minutes, which felt extremely short knowing
that I needed more time. Out of the blue I heard a voice in my head saying. Do you really want
mom to kill you? Sadly, due to my non conformist personality and being the strong minded one of
the family, I stumble upon this question quite often. Just like all the other times, I went with my
impulse and decided to go for it. On my way there, I was wondering how on earth will I be able to
pull this off without my mothers permission and maybe that was why a thirty minute car ride
somehow felt like five.
Finally, I pulled my car into a gravel path and hoped for the best as I walked into the building
nervously. But as I walked closer to the front desk, I felt a sense of ease and I remembered my
whole purpose of being there. Then receptionist asked me, Can I help you? and in returned I said I
am here for Pup Pup. As I following the nice lady to the back, there was huge difference from the
waiting room to where placed the rest of them. The moment I stepped foot behind there, this
disgusting odor instantly hit me and all I heard was something screeching against the medal fences.
Not the mention the atmosphere was awfully unsettling and I couldn t bare to think how these

Analysis Of James Joyce s Portrait Of The Artist As A...
In 19th and 20th century Ireland, the Catholic Church dominated the lives of many Irish citizens.
The Church played a role in every aspect of their lives including their personal lives, their political
lives, their education, and their work. Often people followed the Church for fear of what would
happen if they didn t follow. While for many, this control by the Catholic Churchprovided structure
and stability in their lives, for others it was a source of major struggle and inner conflict. James
Joyce found the Catholic Church s power to be both overwhelming and repressive. In his Portrait of
the Artist as a Young Man, we see his inner struggle portrayed through the main character Stephen
Dedalus. Like Joyce, Stephen struggles throughout... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
James Joyce s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is commonly considered a reflection of
Joyce s own life and struggles that he faced with and against the Catholic Church. As Stephen
Dedalus does in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Joyce fluctuated between agreeing with
and rejecting the Church. He was raised by Catholic parents and attended Catholic schools
throughout his life. As is common for children before they re able to make their own choices and
think for themselves, Joyce merely followed the religious example that his family and society
had set for him. So why did Joyce ultimately reject the Catholic Church? As researched by Jeffrey
Hibbert, The weakening of the Church s temporal powers was met by tightening its political
control over local churches and its ideological control over dogma. Between the 1830s and the
1890s, the Church grew increasingly conservative and intolerant of liberalism, democracy and
modernity (199). The church wasn t allowing Joyce to express his creativity and become who he
wanted to be. It was becoming increasingly controlling and limited his creative abilities. Joyce s
attitude towards the Catholic Church were structured by the 3 A s: alienation, anger, and apathy
(Lernout 8).
In a letter to his wife that was written in 1904, Joyce claimed to have left the Church six years
earlier, at which time he would have been about 14 years old. In the

Desmond Doss Thesis Statement
Desmond Doss is one of the most famous U.S conscientious objector in all of U.S military service
history. Desmond Doss is known for his brave work at Hacksaw Ridge in Okinawa by single
handily saving 75 men by means of carrying them and by manoeuvring them down with his unique
rope technique which earned him the medal of honour in October the 12th 1945. Therefore making
him the first ever conscientious objectorin U.S militaryhistory to receive the award. Desmond Dosss
legacy has been shown throughout the ages in television, documentaries and now in the latest
2016 movie entitled Hacksaw Ridge after the real life spot in Okinawa. The movie depicts the
true story of U.S serviceman and conscientious objector Desmond Doss in his journey to
Hacksaw Ridge. At First Desmond Doss was not fond of people making films or being portrayed
in any sort of media because of the inaccuracies that these films might would portray of him
because he was deeply focused on his religion and as a seventh day Adventist. But an agreement
was soon with him and his firm.
The Film is seen as one of the most accurate depictions of Desmond Doss s life journey to
hacksaw ridge. However the film does have some inaccuracies. The Film starts off with Desmond
Doss as a young boy playing around with his brother and when they are fighting Desmond takes it
too far and hits his younger brother with a brick, where Desmond faces the consequences of nearly
killing his brother. During the aftermath of the incident

Jane Smiley s Growing Up At Home
I.Thesis Statement: Parents have to become more aware of the affect they are having on their
children when they do no implement chores into a child s day to day activities. Chores help
establish good work ethics in which children will need as they grow into adult life. Proverbs 22:6
says Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it
(Proverbs 22:6 King James Version). Chores should not be looked at as the leftover job a parent
does not want to do but more as experiences and learning lessons that carry on with a child
throughout life. Gearing up a child to become a hard worker is a tough job, and as a parent you
have to be prepared to put in the work. Smiley s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I remember when I was still in the house with my parents my chore was to wash the dishes on
Wednesday evening. No biggie that was a simple task to complete even though I was washing
for 9 people; and my mother didn t believe in a dish washer so it was all by hand. I never looked
at the situation as if my parents only have me doing this because they didn t want to do it. I was
always told that there is a reason why someone wants you to do something and in this case my
parents were setting each one of us for success; plain and simple. Millennials (Generation Y,
born between 1980 and 2000) are the new generation that is so involved in the world of digital
technology. My question to myself is do millennials appreciate the importance of chores? I have
to answer that question with a no they do not know the importance of chores. With all the new
technology and the lack of guidance; whether it be from a lazy parent or even a lack of a parent

Essay On City Council Meeting
The process of the City Council meeting was very interesting and long. There were many things
that I learned in this meeting because it was the first meeting that I have been to for the city.
Everything was planned and very organized in the meeting and they go down a schedule or list
of what they will do first. The Mayor of the city of Bakersfield is the one to begin the meeting,
but he was absent the day that I went so Vice Mayor Harold Hanson took his spot. He mentioned
how the Mayor had not missed a meeting in such a long time that he can not even remember the
last time he got to take his place. Hearing what the Vice Mayor said about the Mayor showed the
residents of Bakersfield and I how important and how serious the Mayor takes his job. It showed
that the Mayor really cares for the people of Bakersfield even though many disagree with me.
Vice Mayor Harold Hanson begins with an introduction the meeting by welcoming everyone and
announcing that Mayor Hall is going to be absent. There was not a lot of people like I was
expecting, but it was still very interesting to hear all of the residents concerns and opinions. After

Malmare Throughout the History of Computers
Throughout the history of computers, malware has been developed and expanded. Today, several
different types of malware exist, each with their own unique abilities.
Virus
One of the most well known types of malware among the general public is a virus. A computer
virus is malicious software that infects a computer and then makes copies of itself, much like a
biological virus. Before, viruses were spread through the use of floppy disks or USB flash drives.
Nowadays, they are mainly spread through emails. Many phishing emails lead to webpages that
download a virus onto the computer hardware. Viruses can corrupt computer files, making the
computer unusable (Department of Homeland Security).
Trojan
Yet another piece of malwareis a trojan horse. This malware is much like the popular historical
Trojan horse it appears like a gift, usually in the form of a useful software but carries dangerous
software inside it. The reason trojans are so dangerous is because they can allow third party users
remote access to the computer by creating a backdoor, allowing them to steal private and sensitive
information (IT Business Edge, 2014).
Phishing
As mention earlier, viruses can be transmitted through phishing emails. These are another type of
malware that also targets computer users. These phishing scams usually come in the form of emails
to users. By attaching logos to the emails, phishing scams appear to be from legitimate business,
such as popular corporations, universities, or

The Roles Of Women Of Andalusia
The Roles of Extraordinary Women of Andalusia Muslim women have the same rights as men
and they have to fulfill and attain the same duties of worship such as prayer, zikr, give money to
the poor, fasting, and make pilgrimage to Mecca the holy place. In the pre Islamic era, the Jahiliya
era, women were not allowed to do anything, they had no rights. Women from the Bedioun tribes
had no legal status whatsoever. The fathers forced their daughters to get married for money and
also, many fathers infanticide their daughters because they were seeing as nothing important in the
society. The tribes were all male controlled. The heritage was passed on to the following
generations through male lines. Women had no legal right in inheriting property. The head of the
tribes limited the rights of women and took away their freedom. Prior to Islam, women were seen
as property to be seized in tribal or ethnic battles and conflicts. Women had no possessions or
succession rights. Their very essential role was to produce children, especially male offspring.
Women had to cook, milk animals, and wash clothes; they also had to spun wool and wave fabric
for the tribal tens. However, when Islam was found, it gave full rights and freedom to women.
Islam developed the position of women from the Arab cultures. The Sharia Law drew attention to
the proper way of marriage for women. Islam forbids the dowry of a female to be given to her
family rather than to the female who is getting married. Islam

Nazi Death Camps
Imagine this: You are a Jew. You are loaded into a train car with several other people. It takes you
to a camp and you don t know what s going on. Nazis are shouting stern commands to you in
German to strip down and separate from your family. They take all of your belongings and tell
you that you won t need them. Worried, scared, and frightened, you are ushered into a large
chamber with hundreds of other people. Then the gas filters in. You and everyone else are dead
within 20 minutes. This is how it was for the prisoners of Nazi death camps during the Holocaust.
Here are the examples of death camps, Treblinka and Belzec, and also how it was in any Nazi death
camp.
Many of the nazi death camps were part of Aktion Reinhard, (Operation Reinhard) a Nazi plan to
kill all of the 2 million Jews living in German occupied Poland (Treblinka). Most of the death
camps used gas chambers, a nazi favorite, to kill the prisoners. A gas chamber is a huge chamber
that has pipes running through it. The Nazis would pipe deadly carbon monoxide into them, killing
everyone inside. After they were dead, the Nazis would dump the bodies into mass graves, (huge
pits) and dumped dirt over them.

Rain Water Case Study
Does permitting Colorado residents to harvest rain water by means of a rain barrel, affect the
water flows for senior water rights holders and downstream users? Review of a small sensitivity

if resident do so. Colorado has an old law with regard to harvesting rain water. The law states, the
State of Colorado has claim to all the water and moisture which falls in the state, therefore, a
resident is not permitted to collect water. Some believe permitting Colorado residents to harvest

Aristotle s Cosmological Argument
When it comes to discussing the cosmological argument, I question myself why are most
arguments that are for defending a higher being, in a monotheism perspective: the belief of one
God. I argue that yes there is an existence of a higher being, but I also argue that there is more
than one God; one God for each universe. I believe that there is a Godfor each universe, because
there is more than one universe, therefore I argue towards the multiverse argument with a
concentration of polytheism.
When trying to embrace the concept of the naturalism argument: that the universe can be explained
through scientific means, the argument is flawed in the sense that everything in the universe in
dependent on something else; the answer of where everything originated from cannot be
answered. Our whole lives through elementary, middle and high school also secondary education,
we ve been told that everything comes from an atom, but where does the atom come from? Can
science also explain where dark matter comes from? I lean towards Aristotle s explanation of
moved movers for arguing that there is a higher being: a God who created the universe. In Aristotle
s explanation of moved movers, he argues that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Making difficult decisions show up in life more often than realized. These choices can alter a
person s life in good and bad ways. The Bicycle by Jillian Horton is a story that focuses on a
young talented pianist named Hannah. Throughout the story Hannah deals with the strict teachings
of her Tante Rose, which leads her to make ironic decisions. Similarly, in the story Lather and

Horton and Tellez both portray the theme of making difficult choices in their stories. The
protagonist s in each story consider all their options and think ahead before making a life
changing decision. In the stories The Bicycle and Lather and Nothing Else both Horton and
Tellez use symbolism to portray an overall theme of making difficult choices. In The Bicycle
Hannah has her life completely controlled by her Tante Rose. She has no freedom because she is
forbidden to break the Sabbath in anyway, and due to Tante Rose s previous traumatic
experience with a bicycle, she is absolutely forbidden to ride one. In the end, Hannah chooses to
go against her aunts wishes and rides a bicycle. She expresses that she wanted to prove she had
some control over her own life (Horton 35). The bicycle acts as a symbol of freedom; from
Hannah breaking the promise she made to her Tante Rose, to having control of her own life and
becoming who she wanted to be from the start. Likewise, in Lather and Nothing Else the barber
untimely had a choice of being a murderer or hero. The razor blade is one of the most important
symbols because it represents his choice of killing the captain or not. This was how the barber
would determine his future. He says, I was stropping my best blade . (Tellez 346). My fate hangs
on the edge of this razor blade . (Tellez 346). This was a big moral dilemma for the barber, and at

Essay Comparing The Devil And Tom Walker
The Devil and Tom Walker and the The Devil and Daniel Webster have many differences along
with several similarities. A few examples would be the different depiction of the Devil and the
similarities of the role of religion. Some points may be larger than others, but one can see the
relationship between both of the books in many different aspects of he was dressed in a rude,
half Indian garb, and had a red belt or sash swathed round his body, but his face was neither black
nor copper color, but swarthy and dingy and begrimed with soot, as if he had been accustomed to
toil among fires and forges. (Irving, p. 2 3)
The first difference between the short stories are their very own different depiction of the Devil.
In The Devil and Tom Walker, the devil is portrayed as a that confronts Tom about the deal that
he can go through to abolish his mediocre life. On the contrary, the Devil in The Devil in Daniel
Webster was a calm, cool, businessman that was a Soft spoken, dark dressed stranger (Benet, p.12)

and silver become wood shavings, and his mortgages become cinders. Later his house burns to the
ground and is haunted to this day. In The Devil and Daniel Webster on the other hand was a
massively different outcome. The ending of this story ends with a court appearance of Jabez Stone
in his own house to see what sentence he will get from the jury. The jury announces that We find

The Evolution Of Music And Its Ability
The evolution of music and its ability to have multitudinous uses is what makes the notion of music
unique when compared to anything else. Communication was one of the first uses of music.
Utilizing music as a style of communication required the creation of complex and subtle acoustic
techniques, each with the purpose of articulating a specific idea. These musical gestures developed
from manipulations of the various parameters of music. When Guido D Arezzo first improved and
reworked standard notation by adding time signatures and inventing solfege in 1000 CE, this was
the beginning of music taking on the form of art. As musical advances continued many elite
composers began to arise. Music was then employed as a form of expression, representing joy,
sorrow, and pain. Music can also paint scenes and take the listener to distant places; however, this
requires an experienced composer, who can manipulate pitch, tempo, dynamics, instrumentation,
texture, and form. If the composer can exploit these properties of sound and music to paint a vivid
world of emotions, he can paint a musical masterpiece. This use of musical gestures is prevalent
throughout Western composition, particularly in the form of program music, which is a piece of
instrumental music, usually for symphony orchestra, that seeks to re create in sound the events and
emotions portrayed in some extra musical source: a story, a play, a historical event, an encounter
with nature, or even a painting (Wright). When

The Effects Of Excessive Time With Technology
As seen on CBS news, a man was so immersed in his cell phone that he missed a beautiful
humpback whale surface right next to his boat. Not that missing a whale surface isn t bad enough,
however, spending too much time with technology and media causes more loss than we know.
Overuse of technology and media socially isolates our generation, destroys their social skills, and
allows them to be prone to healthissues.
Obsessive use of technology socially isolates us and destroys our social skills. The first effect of
excessive time with technology and media is social isolation. As published in the New York Times
article Antisocial Networking , the Pew Research Center found that half of American teenagers
defined in the study as ages 12 through 17 send 50 or more text messages a day and that one
third send more than 100 a day. Two thirds of the texters surveyed by the center s Internet and
American Life Project said they were more likely to use their cell phones to text friends than to
call them. Fifty four percent said they text their friends once a day, but only 33 percent said they
talk to their friends face to face on a daily basis. This research is proof that children are more
willing to text their friends rather than to talk with them, therefore they are less likely to meet their
friends in person as often as they text. So although kids chat through their cell phones, they are still
socially isolated when it comes to having real conversations. Next, overuse of

Analysis of the State of the New Media Art
The article is an analysis of the state of the new media art. The new media uses digital
communication to express its artwork and Muir (2002) choses certain works as illustrative
examples of their format. Their spectrum was so called old, middle aged and modern digital art
that spanned the 19th century to the present moment. Their first example was June Paik s
magnet TV 91965). Paik integrated music, video,a nd sculptural forms of objects in order to
convey modern relationship to TV. Intending to convey the omnipotence of TV, Paik s
aforementioned sculpture consisted of a large magnet on top of a television set. The magnet was
manipulated by hand to create abstract patterns of light inside the monitor. The work was
deliberately constructed in a simple way so as to arouse discussion and thought regarding the all
powerful influence and, some would say, insidiousness, of TV. Nicholas Schoffer is called the
Father of Cybernetics and Video Art. He is another example of creators of media Art. Schoffer s
sculptures combining electronics with sculpture included his 52 meter high cybernetics Tower of
Liege , which consisted of mirrors, projectors, microphones, and photoelectric cells. Schoeffer also
produced Microtine Sculptures (1968 1969) that was composed of discs and manipulated by
electronics to produce pulsating light. Robert Adrian s work was in telecommunication. His work
included the world in 24 hours (1982) where artists from international spots converged at

Tcp And Transmission Control Protocol
TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is connection oriented and reliable service widely used in
internet. TCP offers error correction and the protocol offers guaranteed delivery. This is because
of the property which TCP has, that is flow control. It determines when the data needs to be
resent and stops the flow of data unless the previous transferred data has been successfully
transferred. This is because of the congestion control where the packets of data sent may collide.
Congestion control occurs if the client requests the data from the server and there is any
collision, there will be a re request where the whole data is transferred complete and identical to
the original as requested. TCP provides a connection oriented service. Connection oriented
means, two different applications using TCP. Considering client and server model, they must
establish a TCP with each other before any data can be exchanged. TCP also provides reliable
service. This service can be offered by the following ways: * The data which is to be exchanged
can be broken into bits and sent over to receive at other end. This process is called segment. * A
timer is maintained every time when TCP sends a segment in order to acknowledge the reception.
If the acknowledgement is not received the data is resent again until an acknowledgement is
received. * TCP does an end to end checksum by maintaining checksum on header and data to make
sure that no alterations have been done to the data. * The flow control

Margaret Sanger s Life And Life
Margaret Sanger was born in Corning, New York on September 14, 1879 [3] as Margaret Louise
Higgins. [1] Her father, Michael Higgins, originally studied phrenology and other medical
practices, but eventually moved to being a stone cutter. Her mother, Anne Higgins, was born in
Ireland, and her family moved to Canada during the Potato Famine. In 1869 Michael married
Anne and she went through 18 pregnancies, only 11 of which lived. [3] Margaret was the sixth
child in this long line and spent her time doing chores and looking after the younger children.
Her older two older sisters supported her when she started attending school at Claverack College
and Hudson River Institute. [2] When her mother was 50 years old, she passed away and
Margaret blamed her mother s frequent childbearing and poverty for her death. At the age of 21,
Margaret started taking classes at the White Plains Hospital as a nurse probationer. Not even
two years later, in 1902, she married William Sanger and quit her schooling. Later in 1913,
Margaret and William filed for divorce but it wasn t finalized until 1921. [13] She went on to
marry Noah Slee in 1922. After having 3 children, she and her family took up residence in New

Foreign Assistance For Foreign Aid
Although foreign aid has been going on for hundreds of years, it still remains a controversial
topic. Many people have debated whether or not it actually either helps or harms nations. Foreign
aid can help undeveloped states by providing education and health care. However, a drawback to
foreign aid is that it can cause countries to become dependent and lead to corruption. Foreign aid is
effective when countries don t try to use foreign aid for their own benefit and when coordination
and accountability is implemented. 7 Foreign aid is beneficial because it can provide education.
Without substantial knowledge, many countries are unable to support themselves. The organization

5 Numerous countries could benefit from improved health care from foreign aid. People in other
countries all around the world are suffering from illnesses and diseases that could be fixed with
better medical assistance from foreign aid. Stated in his article An American Miracle, Michael
Elliott reports, From 2004 to 2013, the U.S. committed more than $50 billion to the global fight
against AIDS, and last year accounted for some two thirds of all international assistance to that
effort. Programs funded by American taxpayers have saved more than 7 million lives overseas.
(Elliot) This shows that America s help has already greatly impacted many people. Multiple
countries don t have proper sanitized tools, medical facilities, and funding to treat sickness. With
help, countless illnesses could be vanquished. 3 Foreign aid is inferior because it could lead
countries to become dependent. The meager amount of resources these countries receive fails to
offer adequate help to actually save countries. Consequently, people then start to rely on the new
income and resources that foreign aid provides and would collapse without it. According to James
M. Roberts , Traditional foreign aid, which relies on a government to government model, doesn t do
enough to generate significant and sustainable opportunities on the ground for people in developing
nations.

Dollar Declines In Spectacular Fashion
Changes in the economy are neither simple to understand nor entirely predictable. Virtually every
metric that is used to evaluate the economic health of a nation can be influenced by a variation in
another metric. For example, consider the price of gold. Typically, when the dollar shows a pattern
of a record setting decline, gold prices tend to soar.
Why Do Gold Prices Typically Soar When the Dollar Declines in Spectacular Fashion?
As Investopedia explains, the value of the dollar and the price of gold usually have an inverse
relationship. A weak dollar normally drives up the price of gold, but a strong dollar depresses gold
prices. The three primary reasons for this are:
1.A weak dollar is a sign of economic uncertainty, stimulating people... Show more content on

Medical devices such as stents, precision electronics and jewelry production account for
approximately 66 percent of the global demand for gold. If demand for these items declines, the
price of gold could fall.
Production: The United States, China, Australia, Peru and South Africa are important gold mining
countries. The amount of gold produced by all countries contributes to the supply, and if demand
exceeds the supply, gold prices increase. However, in most countries, the easily accessible gold
has already been taken from the ground, requiring miners to dig deeper and face exposure to
additional hazards. The impact to the environment may be affected as well. This means that mining
gold costs more to obtain less, which increases the price of gold.
Investors Attitudes: Investors tend to turn to gold when there is economic uncertainty. Gold is
typically considered to be a safe haven and a hedge against inflation, currency devaluation, political
instability or deflation; most investors believe that gold will always have value, but other
investments may turn out to be worthless. When returns on investments such as real estate and
bonds fall, more people turn to investing in gold, increasing its

Negative Effects Of Palm Oil
There is an abundance of atrocities facing the modern world that we live in, but one of the most
important and critically pressing of these atrocities is often overlooked. The very ecosystems
and resources that we rely so heavily on for the success of our global economies are being
exploited at a rate that will have catastrophic consequences on the future of our economic success,
as well as drive a large portion of the worlds biodiversity into extinction. Among the most prevalent
case of environmental degradation and biodiversity loss includes the rapid deforestation and loss
of biodiversity that is caused by the production of palm oilin the South Asian countries Indonesia
and Malaysia. Many may argue that this rapid deforestation is simply due to the rapidly growing
global population, whereas many others view this issue as the effect of greed and consumerism
that surrounds a capitalistic market. The production of this forest risk commodity is responsible
for the absurd rate of deforestation in Indonesia and Malaysia, has a profoundly negative effect on
the biodiversity located in Indonesia and Malaysia, and can best be explained from a political
economy standpoint. Palm oil is a key component in the production of a vast array of products that

Age of Chaucer
Romaunt of the Rose: It s a lengthy allegorical poem written in octosyllabic couplets and based
upon Le Romaunt de la Rose of Guillaume de Lorris and Jean de Meung. According to critics,
not the entire poem, but the first part of it may be written by Chaucer. In this dream poem the
narrator enters the Garden of Mirth, where he sees various allegorized figures and falls in love
with a rosebud. Part A and B describe the instructions of the god of love to the dreamer. Part C is
a fragment and satirizes the hypocrisy of religion, woman and the social order. (French Group)
The Book of the Duchesse: It s probably Chaucer s earliest poem and is written in 1369. It s a
dream poem in thirteen hundred thirty four lines in octosyllabic couplets. It... Show more content on

And Dante in Divine Comedy is guided by Virgil. (Italian Group) The Legend of a Good
Woman: It is possibly the first significant work in English to use the iambic pentameter or
decasyllabic couplets which he later used throughout the Canterbury Tales. The poet falls asleep
and sees in his dream that Cupid appears before him followed by twenty lady martyrs for love.
Cupid accuses him for writing only about faithless female characters like Criseyde and as a
penance instructs him to write about faithful women, beginning with Cleopatra. But in the poem
Chaucer only finished eight stories and the ninth is left unfinished. Some of the good characters
are Cleopatra, Dido, Thisbe, Medea and Lucrece. (Italian Group) Canterbury Tales (English

allegorical narrative poem written in unrhymed alliterative verse, divided into sections called
passus (Latin for step). The poem concerns the narrator s intense quest for true Christian life, from
the perspective of true Christian life, from the perspective of mediaeval Catholicism. The quest
includes a series of dream visions and an examination into the three allegorical characters: Dowel

Cannery Row Themes
John Steinbeck returns to the Monterey area of California for Cannery Row, a story of a few men
living in California in the aftermath of the Great Depression, specifically in an abandoned
warehouse. Steinbeck wrote this book at the behest of a WWII soldier who desired to forget the
horrors of the war he just endured. Cannery Row mixes multiple themes and tones together in order
to bring together a captivating narrative which has endured over time.
Cannery Row takes place in the cannery district of Monterey, California, following the story of
Mack and his friends as the rent a converted shack from Lee Chong, a local grocer. Mack soon
meets Doc, the owner of a local biological warehouse, a man who always has a negative vibe about
him yet is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People who are described as whores, pimps, gamblers, and sons of bitches (1) often band
together to fight against problems, such as the influenza epidemic. Business owners who are
shown throughout the novel that money is a priority such as Lee Chong and Dora deal as often
in good will as they do with cash, helping the boys out along their journey. At the heart of this
community rests Doc, someone that everyone is in some way indebted to along with being
overall a good person and becoming the soul of the community, as when he is wronged the
whole town goes into a negative state. Related to this is finding happiness without material
wealth, specifically with analyzing the story of Mack and the boys. If you throw out side plots
and various other things from the story, it s a few poor guys trying to collect up enough booze
and pocket money to throw a party. These men don t value the concept of wealth in material
earnings as much as they measure wealth in the sense of good will and the experiences on has
in life. The boys described as not mercantile men. They did not measure their joys in goods sold,
their egos in bank balances, nor their loves in what they cost (108) Steinbecks writing style
almost always provides a tone of affection for at least one character or group, in Cannery Row it s
almost everyone he feels this way about. He calls Mack and the boys the Beauties (14) and writes

Personal Identity In Adolescence
Human development is a perpetual process that commences with our conception and proceeds until
the point where we breathe our last breath. While we remain more stagnant during certain times of
our lives, there are others that are loaded with rapid change. One of these periods is adolescence, in
which teenagers develop psychosocially, cognitively, and morally. They must undergo these
dramatic changes that set a frame for the rest of their lives.
From a psychosocial perspective, Erik Erikson illustrated diverse stages of life as sundry
circumstances of contention. The conflict for adolescence is identity versus role confusion. He
believed this was the duration when humans must decipher our identity and have a strong feeling of
self. We explore through different gregarious relationships and may endeavor different roles. To be
successful in this stage of development, however, we must find our personal identity.
Psychology.about.com.
This journey for a firm identity along with the cognitive and moral maturation adolescents
experience all play an integral part in how young teenagers decipher who they are going to be and
what their notions are. They are maturing in their coherent considering, their identity, and their
moral credence s. These variable are largely present or developing amid experiences students will
have as they come of age. It may be their advent of age experience that authentically solidifies their
moral development, or that helps them nail down precisely who

Gung-Ho Means “Work Together”
Gung Ho means Work together
Introduction
Gung Ho demonstrates a cross cultural relationship between the Americans and the Japanese people
working together towards the goal. In this movie, a Japanese car manufacturer company takes over
an American car manufacturing plant. The American workers were in conflict with the Japanese
style of management.
Situation
Hunt Stevenson takes the leadership role and becomes the liaison between the Japanese executive
team and the American workers. At first, the workers were working at their usual pace and did not
meet the productivity numbers as expected.
Before the arrival of the Japanese executives, the organization structure of the plant was Work
Specialization .
Every worker was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end, Hunt s leadership style proves effective. Hunt Stevenson s personality is aggressively
extraverted. He is a people pleaser, sometimes to the point of sacrificing everything else. At the
start of the film, he sets off for Japan promising to accomplish a job he has no idea how to do,
simply because he does not want to let anybody in Had and how the people of different cultural
background have to work towards their common goal by integrating each others work practices. A
Japanese car manufacturing company takes over a Detroit car plant and employ American workers
who comes into clash with the Japanese style of management. This results in some hilarious
moments that makes the movie great to watch. However, there are many innuendo messages that
one can learn in the difficulties involved in engaging people to change their work practices to keep
up with new ways of thinking and new technology. Sounds familiar?
The Japanese concept was imposed more than implemented, and in many cases it was dictated.
Implementation was usually top down and corporate driven, short circuiting mid level management
in between. In most cases, team was tossed around to support everything from re organization to
downsizing to a reason for firing someone (for not being a team player ).
Summary of the commentary:
The commentary s primary focus is on the principles of modern Japanese management, citing
examples of their application at real companies, both American and Japanese. It

  • 2. Zionism Essay examples Zionism In the years just after World War II, Zionism (the desire to rebuild a Jewish national presence in the Promised Land) became a popular Jewish cause all around the world. Many Jews who were not practicing Judaism at all with religion became involved with the establishment of the State of Israel. Even today, many years after the successful founding of the State of Israel, there are Jews whose only real tie to Judaism is their belief in Zionism and their support for the State of Israel. They are joined by many Jews who are members of synagogues and support a modern Jewish religious movement, but who also find their prime identity as Jews in the Zionist cause. Broadly speaking, Zionists are proud that a small and struggling state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Or they may be agnostics, unsure of whether or not God exists. Among religions, Judaism is somewhat unique in that it makes room for both atheists and agnostics to remain Jewish. It is often pointed out that there is no positive commandment in the Torah requiring a Jew to believe in God. When it comes to belief, the Torah commands that Jews adhere to the laws of the covenant, which means that idolatry (the belief in many gods) is forbidden. But a person can theoretically live an exemplary Jewish life without a belief in God. Moreover, connection with the Jewish people is determined by birth, not by belief. If a person is born a Jew (or converts to Judaism), he or she is identified as a Jew. There is no question about this. Even the most religious Jew accepts birth (or conversion) as the only criteria for membership in the Jewish people. ORTHODOX JUDAISM Religious Jews today disagree on what Judaism is and what it should be. Orthodox Jews claim to hold the true religion of Judaism. In fact, Orthodoxy only began to organize and solidify its beliefs in the nineteenth century, in direct response to the Reform movement. To this day, there is less agreement among Orthodox Jews about what being Orthodox means especially about how particular laws should be followed than there is disagreement in any of the other modern movements. So, for example, the State of Israel has two chief rabbis to serve the Orthodox one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Fiscal Policies And The Fiscal Policy Before we talk about ways to assess fiscal policy of an economy, I would like to describe what we mean by fiscal policies and why it is important for an economy. Fiscal policy is the use of government revenues and expenditure to influence growth of an economy. Fiscal policies that increase demand in an economy are called as expansionary policy whereas those which reduce demand are called as contractionary fiscal policies. These policies are most effective in a fixed exchange rate regime with perfect capital mobility while they are less effective if the exchange rate is flexible. These policies are used to tackle cyclicality, external account imbalances and inflationary problems. In the following sections, I will discuss describe various roles of fiscal policy, how the fiscal policies should be designed, how to assess its sustainability. The essay will end with a brief policy recommendation on fiscal policies which should be generally followed by the governments. The government uses fiscal policy to achieve its short term and long term objectives. Short run objective mainly includes macroeconomic stabilization by responding to various domestic and international shocks such as natural disasters, terms of trade shock, financial crisis etc., while in the long run the government goals can be to eradicate poverty, improve infrastructure or have structural changes in labor market. Although countries broadly share these objective, but the priorities may change as per country s need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is clear that Willy s predicament is of his own doing, and that his own foolish pride and ignorance lead to his downfall. As walked to my car from work, I kept starring at my phone thinking an answer would appear on the screen. Then I sat in my car contemplating for another fifth teen minutes, which felt extremely short knowing that I needed more time. Out of the blue I heard a voice in my head saying. Do you really want mom to kill you? Sadly, due to my non conformist personality and being the strong minded one of the family, I stumble upon this question quite often. Just like all the other times, I went with my impulse and decided to go for it. On my way there, I was wondering how on earth will I be able to pull this off without my mothers permission and maybe that was why a thirty minute car ride somehow felt like five. Finally, I pulled my car into a gravel path and hoped for the best as I walked into the building nervously. But as I walked closer to the front desk, I felt a sense of ease and I remembered my whole purpose of being there. Then receptionist asked me, Can I help you? and in returned I said I am here for Pup Pup. • 8. Analysis Of James Joyce s Portrait Of The Artist As A... In 19th and 20th century Ireland, the Catholic Church dominated the lives of many Irish citizens. The Church played a role in every aspect of their lives including their personal lives, their political lives, their education, and their work. Often people followed the Church for fear of what would happen if they didn t follow. While for many, this control by the Catholic Churchprovided structure and stability in their lives, for others it was a source of major struggle and inner conflict. James Joyce found the Catholic Church s power to be both overwhelming and repressive. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James Joyce s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is commonly considered a reflection of Joyce s own life and struggles that he faced with and against the Catholic Church. As Stephen Dedalus does in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Joyce fluctuated between agreeing with and rejecting the Church. He was raised by Catholic parents and attended Catholic schools throughout his life. As is common for children before they re able to make their own choices and think for themselves, Joyce merely followed the religious example that his family and society had set for him. So why did Joyce ultimately reject the Catholic Church? As researched by Jeffrey Hibbert, The weakening of the Church s temporal powers was met by tightening its political control over local churches and its ideological control over dogma. Between the 1830s and the 1890s, the Church grew increasingly conservative and intolerant of liberalism, democracy and modernity (199). The church wasn t allowing Joyce to express his creativity and become who he wanted to be. It was becoming increasingly controlling and limited his creative abilities. Joyce s attitude towards the Catholic Church were structured by the 3 A s: alienation, anger, and apathy (Lernout 8). In a letter to his wife that was written in 1904, Joyce claimed to have left the Church six years earlier, at which time he would have been about 14 years old. In the ... Today, several different types of malware exist, each with their own unique abilities. Virus One of the most well known types of malware among the general public is a virus. A computer virus is malicious software that infects a computer and then makes copies of itself, much like a biological virus. Before, viruses were spread through the use of floppy disks or USB flash drives. Nowadays, they are mainly spread through emails. Many phishing emails lead to webpages that download a virus onto the computer hardware. Viruses can corrupt computer files, making the computer unusable (Department of Homeland Security). This malware is much like the popular historical Trojan horse it appears like a gift, usually in the form of a useful software but carries dangerous software inside it. The reason trojans are so dangerous is because they can allow third party users remote access to the computer by creating a backdoor, allowing them to steal private and sensitive information (IT Business Edge, 2014). Phishing As mention earlier, viruses can be transmitted through phishing emails. These are another type of malware that also targets computer users. In the pre Islamic era, the Jahiliya era, women were not allowed to do anything, they had no rights. Women from the Bedioun tribes had no legal status whatsoever. The tribes were all male controlled. The heritage was passed on to the following generations through male lines. Women had no legal right in inheriting property. The head of the tribes limited the rights of women and took away their freedom. Prior to Islam, women were seen as property to be seized in tribal or ethnic battles and conflicts. Women had no possessions or succession rights. Their very essential role was to produce children, especially male offspring. Women had to cook, milk animals, and wash clothes; they also had to spun wool and wave fabric for the tribal tens. However, when Islam was found, it gave full rights and freedom to women. Aristotle s Cosmological Argument When it comes to discussing the cosmological argument, I question myself why are most arguments that are for defending a higher being, in a monotheism perspective: the belief of one God. I argue that yes there is an existence of a higher being, but I also argue that there is more than one God; one God for each universe. I believe that there is a Godfor each universe, because there is more than one universe, therefore I argue towards the multiverse argument with a concentration of polytheism. When trying to embrace the concept of the naturalism argument: that the universe can be explained through scientific means, the argument is flawed in the sense that everything in the universe in dependent on something else; the answer of where everything originated from cannot be answered. In The Bicycle Hannah has her life completely controlled by her Tante Rose. She has no freedom because she is forbidden to break the Sabbath in anyway, and due to Tante Rose s previous traumatic experience with a bicycle, she is absolutely forbidden to ride one. In the end, Hannah chooses to go against her aunts wishes and rides a bicycle. She expresses that she wanted to prove she had some control over her own life (Horton 35). • 21. Essay Comparing The Devil And Tom Walker The Devil and Tom Walker and the The Devil and Daniel Webster have many differences along with several similarities. A few examples would be the different depiction of the Devil and the similarities of the role of religion. Some points may be larger than others, but one can see the relationship between both of the books in many different aspects of he was dressed in a rude, half Indian garb, and had a red belt or sash swathed round his body, but his face was neither black nor copper color, but swarthy and dingy and begrimed with soot, as if he had been accustomed to toil among fires and forges. (Irving, p. 2 3) The first difference between the short stories are their very own different depiction of the Devil. In The Devil and Tom Walker, the devil is portrayed as a that confronts Tom about the deal that he can go through to abolish his mediocre life. • 23. The Evolution Of Music And Its Ability The evolution of music and its ability to have multitudinous uses is what makes the notion of music unique when compared to anything else. Communication was one of the first uses of music. Utilizing music as a style of communication required the creation of complex and subtle acoustic techniques, each with the purpose of articulating a specific idea. These musical gestures developed from manipulations of the various parameters of music. When Guido D Arezzo first improved and reworked standard notation by adding time signatures and inventing solfege in 1000 CE, this was the beginning of music taking on the form of art. As musical advances continued many elite composers began to arise. Music was then employed as a form of expression, representing joy, sorrow, and pain. Music can also paint scenes and take the listener to distant places; however, this requires an experienced composer, who can manipulate pitch, tempo, dynamics, instrumentation, texture, and form. If the composer can exploit these properties of sound and music to paint a vivid world of emotions, he can paint a musical masterpiece. This use of musical gestures is prevalent throughout Western composition, particularly in the form of program music, which is a piece of instrumental music, usually for symphony orchestra, that seeks to re create in sound the events and emotions portrayed in some extra musical source: a story, a play, a historical event, an encounter with nature, or even a painting (Wright). Not that missing a whale surface isn t bad enough, however, spending too much time with technology and media causes more loss than we know. Overuse of technology and media socially isolates our generation, destroys their social skills, and allows them to be prone to healthissues. Obsessive use of technology socially isolates us and destroys our social skills. The first effect of excessive time with technology and media is social isolation. As published in the New York Times article Antisocial Networking , the Pew Research Center found that half of American teenagers defined in the study as ages 12 through 17 send 50 or more text messages a day and that one third send more than 100 a day. Two thirds of the texters surveyed by the center s Internet and American Life Project said they were more likely to use their cell phones to text friends than to call them. Fifty four percent said they text their friends once a day, but only 33 percent said they talk to their friends face to face on a daily basis. This research is proof that children are more willing to text their friends rather than to talk with them, therefore they are less likely to meet their friends in person as often as they text. So although kids chat through their cell phones, they are still socially isolated when it comes to having real conversations. Next, overuse of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The new media uses digital communication to express its artwork and Muir (2002) choses certain works as illustrative examples of their format. Their spectrum was so called old, middle aged and modern digital art that spanned the 19th century to the present moment. Their first example was June Paik s magnet TV 91965). Paik integrated music, video,a nd sculptural forms of objects in order to convey modern relationship to TV. Intending to convey the omnipotence of TV, Paik s aforementioned sculpture consisted of a large magnet on top of a television set. The magnet was manipulated by hand to create abstract patterns of light inside the monitor. The work was deliberately constructed in a simple way so as to arouse discussion and thought regarding the all powerful influence and, some would say, insidiousness, of TV. Nicholas Schoffer is called the Father of Cybernetics and Video Art. He is another example of creators of media Art. Schoffer s sculptures combining electronics with sculpture included his 52 meter high cybernetics Tower of Liege , which consisted of mirrors, projectors, microphones, and photoelectric cells. Schoeffer also produced Microtine Sculptures (1968 1969) that was composed of discs and manipulated by electronics to produce pulsating light. Robert Adrian s work was in telecommunication. • 27. Tcp And Transmission Control Protocol TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is connection oriented and reliable service widely used in internet. TCP offers error correction and the protocol offers guaranteed delivery. This is because of the property which TCP has, that is flow control. It determines when the data needs to be resent and stops the flow of data unless the previous transferred data has been successfully transferred. This is because of the congestion control where the packets of data sent may collide. Congestion control occurs if the client requests the data from the server and there is any collision, there will be a re request where the whole data is transferred complete and identical to the original as requested. TCP provides a connection oriented service. Connection oriented means, two different applications using TCP. Considering client and server model, they must establish a TCP with each other before any data can be exchanged. TCP also provides reliable service. This service can be offered by the following ways: * The data which is to be exchanged can be broken into bits and sent over to receive at other end. This process is called segment. * A timer is maintained every time when TCP sends a segment in order to acknowledge the reception. If the acknowledgement is not received the data is resent again until an acknowledgement is received. * TCP does an end to end checksum by maintaining checksum on header and data to make sure that no alterations have been done to the data. * The flow control ... Virtually every metric that is used to evaluate the economic health of a nation can be influenced by a variation in another metric. For example, consider the price of gold. Typically, when the dollar shows a pattern of a record setting decline, gold prices tend to soar. Why Do Gold Prices Typically Soar When the Dollar Declines in Spectacular Fashion? As Investopedia explains, the value of the dollar and the price of gold usually have an inverse relationship. The amount of gold produced by all countries contributes to the supply, and if demand exceeds the supply, gold prices increase. However, in most countries, the easily accessible gold has already been taken from the ground, requiring miners to dig deeper and face exposure to additional hazards. The impact to the environment may be affected as well. This means that mining gold costs more to obtain less, which increases the price of gold.
