prove to universally explain why people decided to help. These people defied most demographics;

keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. (Emerson 1) Being one s self in
today s society is increasingly difficult every year and can have a major effect on the mental
state of teenagers. It is easy to follow the pack, but then one is just a faceless person marching in
with the crowd with no true purpose; true strength is in those who try to be themselves in the face
of society. Many teens struggle with their identities and can turn to self harm or even suicide to
relieve their pain, yet not enough effort goes into trying to help these struggling teens. In fact in a

Suicide rates are increasing alarmingly. Every year we see a ten percent increase in suicide

When I enter the home the first thing I noticed was that only Emily, Cody and Lucas were the
ones at home. Benjamin, Logan and Drew were out with their therapist for the afternoon. Emily
and Cody we re upstairs playing but after about 5 minutes Ms. Orbach and I heard a door
slamming. We went upstairs to check on them. At some point Cody no longer wanted to play with
Emily and this made Emily very upset. Ms. Orbach told them to come downstairs and play and
they are not allowed to play upstairs by themselves.
Once they were downstairs in the living room Cody went to the dining table to color and Emily was
playing with her dolls on the floor. Lucas was moving between the two of them. Ms. Orbach and I
then began our conversation about the second parent mentor. I explained to her the reason for the
second parent mentor. They would be another set of eyes into the house , so we can get more
things done throughout the day. It would also be someone there to help supervise the six children.

Men and women play different roles in society. In the beginning of the 19th century, the gap
between males and females was much larger than it is now. Back then men and women were
usually assumed to have certain occupations. For example, in the 1950s women were supposed to
become housewives and stay at home all day cleaning, cooking, or taking care of their children
(Parry 1584). Men on the other hand, were suspected to go out and work all day doing whatever
occupation they held. Due to the media uprising in the 19th century, women began to feel restrained
on what they can accomplish. They began to care about their appearance more than anything else.
This is one of the factors that created the gendergap, but society has always had the gap that has
separated the two. This picture was taken in California in 1921, and it depicts Dr. Louis Estes
helping his daughter put on her boxing gloves while she gets ready to square up against her little
brother. The title of the picture describes the daughter as husky which does not make sense. The
word husky, usually applied to overweight individuals, does not accurately describe the girl in the
photo. It is possible that the author may be referring to her as more masculine than feminine in the

During the Great Depression, schools began to provide lunch programs for school students, since
many homes could not afford to feed their children a full, well balanced meal (Hinman 16).
Throughout the past eighty years the budgets, regulations, and policies have been changed multiple
times. Whether or not these changes are helpful, are up for debate, and are topics many school
boards and legislative bodies are forced to discuss. Some of the most controversial topics being
discussed are the cost students pay, the quality of the food, the amount of food going to waste, and
the obesity rate of students. The lunches that are served in schools are typically over priced,
made of poor quality, thrown away, and is one of the leading causes to the increasing obesity
rates. Two dollars and seventy five cents is the average price students pay unless they are
receiving free or reduced lunches. The issue with these prices is that only a small fraction of
students are paying the full amount while everyone else around them is getting cut a deal by the
government. Majority of students get free or reduced lunches based on their families income and
poverty level (Hinman 18). The federal government provides approximately $9.8 billion to the
federal school lunchprogram to feed approximately 50 million students a lunch every day. Most of

All you can see is darkness, but you hear as if outside. Prisoners of war were captured
everywhere during WWII. POW camps had better treatment and were better than than other
concentration camps. The conditions of the camps varied from one to another, but from Stalags
and Concentration camps, they were close to the same. A large portion of deaths in POW
camps were from lack of food (Uhl 1). The recommended daily minimum was a 2,000 calorie diet

Nuclear power is one of the most controversial issues of today s society. This stems from the fact
that although nuclear power holds vast amounts of potential, it currently has many problems. One
of the main problems is figuring out what to do with the waste. The waste itself is too dangerous
to dispose of in any conventional way, so presently, most of it is sealed in concrete casks and put
into storage (in bunkers) until it stops being dangerous. This might not seem like a bad idea at first,
but the problem with this idea is that the waste won t stop being dangerous for many, many years.
There have to be better solutions to this problem.
As it turns out, there are a few. The most promising in the short term is to recycle the nuclear
waste, like any normal type of waste. In order to understand how this and some other solutions

The liturgy of war reveals how those entrusted with the spiritual care of the soldiers were used
and also how those soldiers were affected by the words of the religious men among them.
Constantine is known to have claimed seeing a vision of the cross which was an indication of
divine help. And if his soldiers were to paint the symbol of the cross on their shields then, victory
would be granted. His victory over the Roman Empire begun what was to be the Christianization
of the conquered territory. But it was during the rise of the Carolingian monarchy that seems to
have changed the history of war rituals. Doris Bergen mentions three factors that contributed to
this change. These were, interest in performance of liturgy, nature of warfare had changed and
ambition of the new monarchy which believed that both their activities were divinely sanctioned
and that the ruler bore personal responsibility for subjects minds and souls. The revival of liturgy
credited to the Carolingians and the application of a different kind of warfare in the middle east
by the warriors of the first crusade that resulted in great success, would later give birth to what
Doris calls A new kind of war, a crusade, and with it, the liturgical rites that
