Schools are filled with vending machines stocked with junk food and soda. A lot of
parents make a conscious effort to get their kids to eat healthier and exercise, but
parents can t be with their kids at school where they are free to choose less healthy
alternatives. Public schools must take a big share of responsibility for the current

less than healthy snacks, the lunches that are provided through the school are less

activism. But with this being said, who has control over information shared on the
television? Certainly the control is not in the individuals who are activists, but
rather is in the hands of corporations and the government. Media, in a way makes it

It is Dowell whose narration transforms Edward, Leonora, and Florence into tragic
characters whose fates we might feel sorrow. However, at each seemingly tragic
moment, the narration seems to stop for a moment and not take such a serious
tone. An example of this would be when Dowell s wife, Florence, commits suicide.

Another order that I disobeyed was the USFK curfew time of being back on post
by 0100. This is one of the most important orders we are given as Soldiers in the
Republic of Korea. It was General Thurman, the USFK Commander, who put this
law into effect. He did this so that Soldiers would not get into trouble and to protect
all of us. We are in a foreign country and we are not all familiar with the areas

grand disadvantage, both individually and collectively, in comparison to multilingual

Learning foreign languages allows for the recognition of cultural difference and the
