A Clear Midnight By Walt Whitman
The poem A Clear Midnight by Walt Whitman is only one quatrain, yet the poem enacts a threshold
experience. The time of midnight is the transition from one day to the next. Whitman uses this
moment as a metaphor from corporal existence to spiritual existence. Whitman describes this
transition to be clear as nothing is hidden nor feared. Whitman is trying to correspond the inner and
outer world, the physical and spiritual worlds. To achieve this harmony, Whitman seems to address
his soul; the soul being the idea that connects the physical and spiritual world. One may believe that
Whitman wants the poem to be trigger to his soul dwelling in eternity. A Clear Midnight is
contemplative and deals with the vast subject of human s nature to wonder. This poem is a... Show

This is the entirety of the poem, the interaction between his physical body and his spiritual soul.
Whitman is essential judging the deepest part of himself, his soul. The soul is so deep that you
need everything quite and peaceful just to think about it. Whitman is looking at his true self, not
physical but spiritually. Whitman is thinking about his essence, what truly make Whitman who he
is. The theme of A Clear Midnight is the connection between life and spirit and how we understand
that to be. As humans, our knowledge of the spiritual world is limited. All humans know about is
the physical world, how things look and how the work. But, human have the wisdom to
acknowledge that there is a spiritual side. The poem is saying that this spiritual side show our true
self, and how is it is difficult to look into. In A Clear Midnight , everything in the world has to calm
and quite just to even think about this spiritual side. Whitman shows that this spiritual side is hard
to comprehend and understand as physical humans. Yet, this complex side of people means the
most to humans. It shows how you think and why you think it, the true man that you

Effects Of Rms On The Weekly Calls
As RMS continues to indicate, based on our observations and more importantly on the review of
assets during our weekly calls with Altisource, RMS continues to believe on many of these assets,
the condition or location of the property is the primary driver behind not only the large reduction in
list price, but ultimately a sales price well below the initial list price, all of which contribute to
extended days on market and an increase in carrying costs incurred by the Trust. We believe one of
the contributors to this relates to the Altisource process where the listing agent is not local to the
property and typically has not personally visited the assetto assess the condition, the location, drive
by the comps and generally may not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Altisource cannot be directed to set the list price of an asset, RMS attempts to get
Altisource to recognize assets that are listed too high and to make appropriate adjustments that will
generate activity and offers.
RMS continues to review assets where we believe the list price set by Altisource is high relative
to our opinion of market value. On listed assets with DOM of more than 60 days, RMS and
Altisource discuss the list price and agent feedback to understand why purchase offers have not
been received. RMS targets these assets for review every 2 weeks.
Another recent observation is an increase in the number of assets in pending contract that fall
out because the buyer fails to return the purchase agreement. This trend has continued to
increase over the past several months. Although Altisource does not provide statistics regarding
overall fallout, RMS has seen an increase based on our observations and the weekly calls. We
believe this relates to the process by which Altisource sells REO assets (on the HUBZU
website), where there is no economic penalty to the bidder if they place an offer on a property
but fail to deliver an executed purchase agreement (similar to what would happen in a traditional
sale transaction). In addition, we believe the lack of agent to agent contact and knowledge of
whether a buyer visits the property prior to making an offer also play a role in the increased
fallout. Altisource reports

Economic Sanctions And International Institutions With An...
Economic sanctions provide states and international institutions with an invaluable instrument of
coercion. Without having to resort to violence, at least in the traditional sense, states can gain
concessions and compliance from the target state. Economic sanctions are, however, not always
successful. An analysis of 204 cases of implemented economic sanctions, from the start of the Cold
War to 2000, revealed that economic sanctions were at least partially successful a mere 34% of the
time (Hufbauer). While all economic sanctions have financial implications, there is a distinction to
be drawn between economic sanctions which include both trade and financial sanctions and
financial sanctions, as a standalone term. Financial sanctions can be defined as restrictions that
limit the provision of certain financial services or restrict access to financial markets, funds and
economic resources in order to achieve a specific foreign policy or national security objective
(Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation HM Treasury). As the international financial system
has become more globalized, and as a result more difficult to avoid while engaging in practically
any form of economic transaction, the efficacy of financial sanctions has increased over more
traditional forms of economic sanctions. Modern financial sanctions also have the added benefit of
being more precise than their alternatives. This enables initiator states to institute sanctions in a
more stylized manner and

The Abandonment Of Professional Autonomy
follow modern requirement in providing the same care. The abandonment of professional
autonomy could help to resolve some problem in compliance with health care regulations. In
healthcare, the goal of a provider is to treat patients and patient and the healthcare professional
are pursuing one single personal goal, which is treatment. Some medical providers are failing to
follow policies or regulatory requirement when providing care. They should be held account and
must be required to follow policies or procedures when providing care. Reduced autonomy on
healthcare that is supported by joint pressure, safety rules, and institutionalized safety methods
that is standardized could force provider to follow protocol. The strengthen approach to process
improvement through focus on quality care in the hospital and educating health care
professionals on teamwork and strict regulations can help reduced the autonomy of health care
professionals. But the barrier of too much autonomy cannot be overcome when teamwork is not
extended across hospital wards or the departments. RenГ© Amalberti, Yves Auroy, Don Berwick,
and Paul Barach (2005) stated that the increase in pressure from medical malpractice liability and
media scrutiny is creating the need for system level decision. The reason for this is that as
systems reaches safer level of performance, the society seeks to hold people accountable or seek
legal way out when injuries occur. The public and the media show disapproval to

It has often been asserted that differences in the two candidates television personae accounted in
part for Kennedy s election victory. Some, however, dispute the significance of the televised 1960
debates, suggesting that while visual cues undoubtedly have the potential to influence voter
perceptions, the nature and extent of the influence remain a matter of speculation (Pendell and
Vancil P.54 1988). Furthermore; Keyton (1989) points out that Debates involving candidates for
the 1988 presidential nomination carry a similar message. Results of a study of college students
revealed the finding that the winner of the 1988 debate was predicted by perceptions of the
candidate who projected the strongest personal image, the greatest credibility, the most logical
arguments, and the strongest emotional appeals. Furthermore, voter preferences expressed after a
first debate were strong predictors of eventual candidate choice. In some political campaigns,
even the lack of debates can have significance. George Bush s successful 1988 presidential
campaign employed debate avoidance, a reliance upon emotional appeals and ridicule, and a de
emphasis of issues. Both of the major U.S. political parties have used such strategies, considered to
be departures from ethical behavior (Kelly 1990). Men and women react differently to the media
analysis that generally follows political debates. A study conducted at the University of Florida

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Ritalin, and the Brain
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, more commonly referred to as simply ADHD, is the
most commonly diagnosed disorder among American children today. According to the National
Institute on Mental Health an estimated 3 to 5 percent of school age children are affected by this
disorder. (1) There are more diagnosed cases of ADHD of in the United States than there are
anywhere in the world. The main symptoms of ADHD include developmentally inappropriate levels
of attention, concentration, activity, distractibility, and impulsivity. (1) While the number of people
diagnosed with ADHD increases dramatically every year, there is still much about the disorder that

While studies conducted on the short term use of these drugs have indicated strongly favorable
results in reducing the symptoms of ADHD, at the present there have not been any conclusive
studies to show the long term effects of methylphenidate.
To look at the other side of the debate on ADHD one must also consider the argument that while
scientists at the moment do not completely understand the nature of ADHD, they are obligated to
learn more. If the use of Ritalin has shown obviously beneficial effects is it not logical to use it?
The debate surrounding the use of psychostimulants drugs, and more specifically Ritalin, has
mainly to do with the lack of understanding concerning ADHD than it does with the drugs
themselves. Scientists believe that one first one has to recognize ADHD as a disorder before one
can proceed to evaluate its treatments. Ultimately the battle over Ritalin and ADHD demonstrates
the lack of understanding we as humans have of the brain and how it functions.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder most popularly associated with an inability to concentrate
has been identified by the American Psychiatric Association as displaying nine possible symptoms.
To be diagnosed with ADHD a person must display at least six of the nine symptoms. These
symptoms include:

Introduction My aim in this assignment: Is to get you fully understanding about what is
robotics , How did it start and why human kind truly needs robotics , learn about the 3 main types
of engineering that are used in robotics and there felids and talk about how robotics truly made
life easier for human kind and cheaper for companies to produce what they produce on a faster

and science that includes mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science.
Robotics deals with the design construction, operation, and use of robots, as well as computer
systems for their control and sensory feedback and information processing. these technologies are
used to create machines that can replace humans. Robots can be used in any situation and for any
purpose as they have no feeling nor heart, but today many are used in dangerous environments
including bomb detection and de activation and in war fields , manufacturing processes, or where

Global Warming Is A Major Problem

Global Warming
Global Warming is a major problem that needs to be addressed. Its impacts are already costly and
significant and is just the beginning of a dangerous trend. The impact of global warming or the
more trending term climate change affects not only yourself but the entire world. The earth is
saying something with record heat, drought, storms and fire. Scientists are telling us this is what
global warming looks like. It s time to listen and take action. There s plenty we can do. (Extreme
Weather).
Health effects one of the few major impacts of global warming. With increased CO2 emissions in
the air it can cause increased issues with people already suffering from asthma. CO2 emissions
can also affect pulmonary and cardiac disease worsening the severity of it. Because of the
increased heat problems like dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke are becoming more of
an issue. Dangerously hot weather is already occurring more frequently than it did 60 years ago
and scientists expect heat waves to become more frequent and severe as global warming
intensifies. (Global Warming Impacts). If the world does not do more to reduce fossil fuel
emissions and other greenhouse gases that are making heat waves more intense, a lot of people
could get hurt and around 150,000 additional Americans could die by the end of this century due to
excessive heat.
Another major problem facing us is the raise in water levels and the

Turning Points In To Kill A Mockingbird
Everything has to evolve or else it perishes (Knowles 125). Turning points are the moments in
our lives that define who we are and how we feel; they help us evolve into different people.
Often, that evolution comes from a loss of innocence. In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird,
Jem changes from a naive and optimistic child to a young adult with a more realistic view of
life. In John Knowles A Separate Peace, Finny also struggles with dealing with the reality of a
world he doesn t really fit in. Both boys face turning points that fundamentally change who they
are, and in some ways, destroy them. Phineas was a bubbly, charismatic, happy go lucky person
who seemed to love life and all the opportunities it brought. However, Finny s life completely
changed when he fell out of a tree and shattered his leg. Sports exemplified Finny, friendly
competition with no clear winners or losers. After Finny learned that he could not walk or play
sports anymore, his once optimistic thoughts changed. Later in the novel, Finny was no longer the
happy, energetic person he used to be. He was depressed about the current state he was in and upset
that he couldn t enlist in the military. Finny wrote to every... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Instead of accepting that he could not participate, Finny created a theory that the war was not
actually going on, instead, it was an elaborate scheme created so fat, rich, old men could make
money and keep all of the rationed food to themselves (Knowles 115). However, the real reason
Finny denied the war was because he was hurt by the fact that he couldn t participate. The fake
war was a way to hide his pain. He admitted to Gene that if the military accepted him, he would
have immediately dispelled his thoughts about the faux war and joined the real war effort. Finny
held on to his disillusioned innocence in an effort to preserve his life before the

The Research Into Leisure Constraints
As more models of analysis are being made around the research of leisure there has been a shift in
terminology. There has been a movement away from the term barrier to the more inclusive term
constraint. In addition, we do not mean to imply that the existence of barriers automatically leads to
non participation in leisureactivities. Individuals are not passive; instead, they often successfully or
unsuccessfully negotiate through constraints (Jackson, 1995; Crawford et al, 1991).
There have been many models developed to analyze the literature on constraints/ barriers. Many of
these models have been criticized for their lack of insight into an individual s decision making
process and their static approach. What is evident is that there is no consensus on what is the best
model or approach to take. The research into leisure constraints continues to grow. As far as leisure
participation or nonparticipation are concerned...constraints are encountered hierarchically, first at
the interpersonal level. Leisure preferences are formed when interpersonal constraints (eg. stress,
socialization, perceived self skill) are absent or their effects have been confronted through some
combination of privilege and exercise of human will. Next, depending on the type of activity, the
individual may encounter constraints at the interpersonal level (eg. interpersonal interactions); this
could happen in activities requiring at least one partner or co participant but would be less relevant

After performing my informative speech, I immediately felt relieved. Mainly because I finally

couldn t really think of any visuals except for the video. So at first I had music behind every
point I had. Each song was planned appropriately for the topic of the point. Then, though, I knew
that would be a hassle to deal with between points, especially because I was already over on my

Jim. The most recognizable is his acting career, but I wouldn t talk about that the whole time.
Another was his early life because countless of people don t know he s from Canada or how he

Ethiopi A Of Ecological And Climatic Condition Essay
Ethiopia is endowed with variety of ecological and climatic condition. It is also home to some of
the most diverse flora and fauna in Africa. This makes the country to lead in honey and beeswax
production in Africa though major of its production is traditional (Allafrica.com, 2009).
Honey value chain played a significant role in the economy of the country by engaging around two
million farm households. It also engaged different actors participated in different value adding
activities which enables them to higher the price of the product and increases the bargaining power.
Finance service/Credit is an important instrument to improve the welfare of the poor through
enhancing their productive capacity (Okurut et al., 2004) and it also motivates them to participate
in further value adding activities rather than directly sell it in order to meet their current financial
need. Though it is crucial to small scale producers to participate in value adding activities, in
Ethiopia its supply for improved apiculture is limited (ILRI, 2011).
In a given value chain, loans and credits may flow by either when the financing institution finance
one end of the value chain, which then channels funds to the other links or they can finance value
chain partners directly.

Theodor Herzl s Influence On Judaism
Theodor Herzl was a Jewish poet who pushed not only for the acceptance of his Jewish
community, but also for a homeland for the Jews in the Middle Eastern Palestinian area. He
wrote about the injustices he witnessed, and used his writings as a way to share his opinions.
His support for the Israeli side of the conflict was a direct result of his Jewish upbringing and
ethnic background. His writings were colored with his views and beliefs about the rights of the
Jewish people. He greatly impacted the conflict as he was the visionary for modern Zionismand the
reinstitution of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Herzl was born in Budapest in 1860. He and his

Herzl made valid arguments and was passionate about seeing the day when Jews could reside in
their own land. Peace was something Theodor always kept in mind, he never used violence to
make any of his points. Herzl essentially established Zionism itself, the development of a Jewish
nation now known as Israel. His first goal was to achieve support from his readers and recognition
of the issue in which he felt so strongly. He published Der Judenstaat , or The Jewish State, which
quickly became the primary source of Zionist literature in 1896. Theodor s second goal was to
put the idea of a homeland in Palestine for Jews into action. He did so by advocating the creation
of a Jewish Society or Jewish Company. The Jewish Company would handle the business and real
estate aspects of a mass migration into the land of Palestine. They would purchase the property of
migrating Jews and sell it to the Gentiles for profit. The Jewish Company legally purchased land

deserved it and that no one was innocent. Later in the book you read that many of the afflicted were

My third cause of the trials are anger. My accusations were out of pure revenge. Some accusers

Napoleon Bonaparte’s Invasion of Russia Essay
Napoleon s Invasion of Russia
Napoleon Bonaparte s invasion of Russia was a major factor in his downfall. In 1812, Napoleon,
whose alliance with Alexander I had disintegrated, launched an invasion into Russia that ended in a
disastrous retreat from Moscow. Thereafter, all of Europe, including his own allies, Austria and
Prussia, united against him. Although he continued to fight, the odds he faced were impossible. In
April 1814, Napoleon s own marshals refused to continue the struggle and stepped down from their
positions. During the actual Russian campaign, there were many key factors that greatly impacted
his downfall.
The largest army ever assembled for one single invasion was reduced to a mere fraction of its
original size. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The artillery and small arms were years behind that of France. The Russian army was a
conscription army, meaning that local farmers had to furnish a certain number of surfs for
military service, as opposed to a professional, trained army where the government supplies the
soldiers with all of their needs. An amazing half million soldiers had enlisted in Napoleon s
Grand ArmГ©e (Saglamer, Beginning of the March). This was the largest army gathered for
one single invasion. Russia s army was out numbered 3:1 with only one hundred seventy
thousand soldiers. Not only was the Russian army not well trained, they were also ill equipped.
Napoleon recognized that it would be difficult and extremely slow for Russia to mobilize her
army due to her enormous size and weak infrastructure. If Napoleon invaded now, he knew that
he could be well into the Russian territory before meeting any major opposition. On June 24,
1812, Napoleon began his fatal Russian campaign. The Grand ArmГ©e, led by Napoleon, crossed
the Nieman River, into Russia. On the journey to Moscow, Napoleon met virtually no major
opposition. The first stop in the campaign was Kovono. Early into the campaign, the Grand
ArmГ©e was affected by a colic epidemic that claimed the life of nine thousand horses and
thousands of soldiers (Web, Russian Embassy). This slowed the pace of the army. Harsh weather
conditions caused the dry roads to turn to mud, making it extremely difficult to maneuver the

Drunk Driving, My Story
Drunk Driving, My Story My dad taught me how to drive his truck the second my feet could
reach the gas pedal. I loved the idea of being able to get into a vehicle and to have the freedom of
traveling anywhere you wanted to. I got my first vehicle, a beat up Jeep Wrangler, that I
repaired with my dad. When I finally got my drivers license, I felt like I had the world in my
hands. That was before the accident. Now when I think of long road trips, I tense up and grow
increasingly anxious. Whenever I am at a stoplight, I become restless as I stare at the red light
and nervously glance around me for any cars coming my way. I have to drive a big SUV or else
I become very uneasy. I get easily startled on the road and flinch at cars that come near me. I don
t enjoy driving anymore. The thing is, this could have all been prevented by a simple decision.
Driving drunk is not worth the emotional and physical impact you put on other s lives.

The Profit Fair Market Value Of The Loss Corporation Essay
Built in Gains and Losses. If the aggregate fair market value of the loss corporation s assets
either exceeds or is less than its aggregate tax basis in those assets by an amount which is more
than the lesser of 10% of the aggregate value of the assets on that date or $10 million, then special
rules apply. If in the year of the transaction or a later year the corporationrecognized gain on
propertywhich it owned on the transaction date, the annual limitation would be increased for that
year by the amount necessary to shelter the portion of its net unrealized built in gain attributable to
such property. The net unrealized built in gain is the excess of the aggregate value of all of the
corporation s property on the transaction date over its aggregate tax basis in all of its property at
that time.
Conversely, if the corporation had built in loss, the loss would be limited the same way that the
NOL would be limited.
Disallowance of the Entire Carryforward. If the loss corporation does not continue its historic
business during the two year period following the ownership change, the entire carryforward is
disallowed. Even after the carryforward is disallowed, the built in gain can be offset by the built in
losses.
Purpose Test. The service can disallow a deduction or credit if (a) control of a business is acquired
and (b) the principal purpose of the acquisition is to secure the deduction or credit.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Personal Statement
Eighteen years it took me to become a pediatric emergency medicine specialist. As my journey in
academics started, I faced the challenge and responsibility of being a single parent. Seeking
opportunities to learn about economics and finance, I did what came naturally to me, which was
study. Eighteen months of doing the unthinkable : working full time, studying full time, and raising
a six year old, was the most exhausting and yet the most inspiring time of my life. Travelling to
Asia to write a thesis comparing the Japanese and American health insurance industry, added a
global flavor to my knowledge of medicine.
Fueled by an interest in research, I received a scholarship for Ph.D. studies after medical school.
Life events interrupted this journey, making it necessary to move from cities, and even countries. I
made an unthinkable move to Australia, right after being promoted at the university. Each change
has required patience and persistence, forcing me to look beyond hurdles and seek opportunities
for growth. As a foreign medical graduate, in two countries, I have had to prove my skill as a
physician and my specialist fellowships in both the U.S. and Australia substantiates this. Through
every stage of my training and academic career, I have sought out opportunities to further my
understanding of the science behind the practice of medicine. ... Show more content on

Sugary Drinks In Children And Adolescents
Sugary beverages are drinks that provide energy by containing large amounts of added sugars but
are overall unhealthy and provide no healthy nutrients. Soft Drinks, fruit drinks, cordials, sports
drinks, energy drinks and vitamin waters all fall under the category of sugary sweetened beverages.
Nine to ten teaspoons of sugarcan be typically found in a 12 ounce can of a sugary drink. This can
add up to 150 or more calories. Across the world more and more people are becoming obese. Of this
obese population, the children and adolescents are especially concerning. Zheng and O Leary

Ways that health advocates are attacking the accessibility factor include state and local bans on
SSBs in schools. Guidelines would also limit the availability of SSBs in meetings and events.
An example of this kind of legislation is in New York. In 2012 it was proposed that all SSBs
sold must be in a container no larger than 16 ounces in food service establishments. To attack the
affordability factor of SSBs, the most common plan is to add a tax on all SSBs. So far no city or
state has passed a tax large enough to considerably change the demand for these beverages. A large
tax has not yet been passed because of the uncertainty of how it will affect the health of the
economy. Taxing SSBs may have unforeseen consequences in that they may to switch to other,
untaxed, calorie dense food and beverages. When assuming that consumers act rationally, the tax on
SSBs could reduce the intake of sugary sweetened beverages and contribute to long term health
benefits and potentially saving in medical cost (Zhen, Brissette, and Ruff

Marxism And Communism
In the western world, people view communism as a conquered historical ideology, but communism
continues to influence the world today. China, the fourth largest country on the earth, displays the
label of communism today. Communism is a classless ideology in which all property is owned by
a large community and each person receives according to their needs and abilities. Communismis a
set of ideas including several different variations and schemes on the philosophy. However, the
most accepted and relevant initial theory was first created by Karl Marx (5th May 1818 to 14th
March 1883), who is also known as the father of communism. The main theory of communism,
created by Karl Marx, is the theory that was and is utilized by many countries.... Show more content

This is due to the fact that communists believe that there should be no division in social class and
hierarchy. A negative impact of communism on a country s society is that it does not recognise
individual talent. During the mid nineteenth century after communism has took over china, many
individuals were arguing that their field of their talent (such as art, music, agricultural skills etc.)
was not being seen and recognised by anyone in society. This is believed to be a trigger for the
1959 Tibetan uprising protests (which occurred just ten years after china was under communist
rule) in China against a communist party rule. Therefore, communism has had a major impact on a
country s society as a whole.
Another way Communism has impacted the society is by altering culture. An example is the Soviet
Union at the beginning of the cold war. During the cold war, Joseph Stalin (18th December 1878
to 5th March 1953) attempt to enforce communist culture within the society was by altering
people s perspective of beliefs. Joseph Stalin and other communist leaders believed that the
decisive factor in the world to win a war was power, and that power was ultimately the power to
dominate and coerce by superior pressure rather than the power to persuade or to engage
cooperatively. They defined international society by its distribution of power, and they saw the
opportunity for the Soviet Union as more to contend for domination than to

Confederate Army Morality
The Confederate Army Moral over matter? The Civil War was a fight to the death on the
principle of setting another man free. It was a brutal for year battle, Union VS Confederacy,
Yankees VS Rebels, pledging their last measure. The Civil War is one of the most famous wars in
the world. Most Civil War information focuses on the victors, the Union/Yankees. The cause of
this war began with the Compromise of 1850 which tried to maintain political balance between free
and slave states in Congress. However, the election of 1860 was the final straw, causing the
separation of the northern and southern states. The southern states seceded because they feared
Abraham Lincoln, now president, would abolish slavery thus causing the Civil War. The Civil War
began in 1861 at Fort Sumter and ended when General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox
Courthouse in 1865. While the Confederacy had undeniably talented generals, their well known
arrogance may have been the cause of their demise.

The Psychosocial Impact of Psoriasis, a Skin Condition
Don t judge a book by its cover is one of the greatest known metaphorical phrases in human
history. People constantly identify with and attempt to apply the concept in everyday life; yet
our society has constructed a paradigm in which the perfection of your skin predetermines your
social interactions in life. Likewise it is important to comprehend that it is not only on the side of
society s judgements which determines your interactions, but it is also that of the lowered self
esteem of the individual. To garner apposite knowledge, the task at hand required the
interviewing of a person with a skin condition with the aim to internalise and reflect upon the
biopsychosocial as well as cultural impacts of the illness. I was lucky enough to have the privilege
of interviewing Jane Doe, a 20 year old white female with a history of psoriasissince age five. I was

Thesis Statement For Supernovas Essay
Supernovas Ebaad Usmani P1 Thesis Statement: Supernovas are big explosions of light that
occur when a star has a lot of fuel inside it which causes the star to explode. Supernovas are when
stars die, they turn into brilliant points of light and explode. Supernovas are considered the
largest explosion to take place in space, and in galaxies, they usually appear in other galaxies, but it
s really hard to find one in our own galaxybecause there is always dust that blocks our way, so it
can be tough to find a supernova. There are 2 ways a supernova can occur. The first way a
supernova can happen is when a stargathers up a lot of matter from nearby stars until the star has a
nuclear reaction and explodes which causes a supernova. The second way a supernova can occur is
when a star is much bigger... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One type of supernova has shown scientists that according to the solar system, there are other
universes out there, we just don t know what they look like. According to scientists, supernovae
play a key role in distributing elements throughout the universe. Ordinarily when something
explodes, there are always random scraps of thing flying everywhere, so when a star explodes, it
does the same and it shoots elements and debris everywhere around space. Most of the elements
are the core of stars, these elements form to create new stars, and small planets in the solar
system and in many other solar systems. Scientists look for supernovas by using advanced
telescopes, and items. Some of these telescopes are used to look at other explosions in space

The Constitution as an Artifact
Abstract
This paper is an analysis of the single cultural artifact that best represents the culture in which I
live in today. The paper will provide a detailed analysis of the artifact and how it relates to the
values and beliefs of the culture. Additionally, it will address the deep cultural roots of the artifact,
the historical roots of the artifact, what allowed it to come into being and who was affected by its
development. This information will come as someone trained from the humanities.

Specifically, the framers wrapped their heads around the notion that every man is created equal and
should have the same chances to excel as everyone else (Williamsburg Foundation, 2005). The
constitutional creators also believed in limited government, as large government hindered the rights
of the people and thus stifled innovation. The roots of the constitution come from a largely
pragmatic and realist base who wished to ensure that people in the future could modify the
constitution as necessary. However, they would have to go through quite a bit of red tape to do it.
This would ensure nobody s rights were trampled and that everyone agreed on the change. It was a
brilliant idea. Very few documents have ever lasted through the test of time such as the United
States Constitution (Williamsburg Foundation, 2005). I envision the United States Constitution

growing socialist movement. The idea that government should control resources and people aren t
smart enough to do it themselves (Phyllis Shayfay report, 2009) is a tenet of the extreme left

Ocean Acidification Essay
To begin, Ocean Acidification is a complex issue that revolves around the pH level of the water
in the oceans. According to Ocean Acidification by Gattuso and Lina Ocean Acidification is a
reduction in the pH of the ocean over an extended period, typically decades or longer, caused
primarily by the uptake of CO 2 from the atmosphere Scientists use the pHscale to describe the
strength of acids and bases. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14 with 0 being the most acidic and
14 the most basic. Gattuso and Lina address that, Once dissolved in seawater, CO 2 is a weak
acid which generates a number of changes in seawater chemistry. Furthermore they state, The
ocean pH levels has decreased from approximately 8.2 to 8.1 between pre industrial time and the
1990s, and may reach 7.8 in 2100. The issue of Ocean Acidificationis dependent on the pH levels
of the oceans. The belief is lowered pH levels could cause disastrous effects to the millions of
different types of sea life in the oceans. Scientists believe that a difference in pH levels could
devastate the ecology of the oceans. For example, it is stated by Gattuso Lina that, Changes in the
carbonate chemistry of seawater can have a wide range of effects, some of which may be mediated
through disturbances in the acid base status of affected organisms. As a result, The extracellular pH

The purpose of this essay is to examine, the notion of music being a part of a deaf individual s life
may seem contradictory, but there is evidence that music is and has been a part of many deaf
people s lives. Music is and has been a part of the Deaf culture, including, but not limited to, Deaf
musicians, utilising music to teach speech. The primary purpose of this thesis was to explore the
relation between Deaf culture and music and examine the role of music in the deaf culture and to
relate the findings to current practices in music education programs for hearing impaired students
historically and presently. We also look at the introduction of sign language interpreters in live
vocal music performances as well pre recorded shows and music videos and also how it is being
adopted in the music industry. Secondary purposes of the study were to accumulate data of ways in
which the music industry has provided for the Deaf Communities by organising concerts and raves
for them.

When the products are run at a lower cost than the standard, then this produces a favorable variance.
The COGS and variance should net to the correct cost though (this is the reason the system creates

The bigger problem here is that any inventory is likely to be overvalued because of wrong
standards. Finished goods inventory is valued at the standard cost. So if there is a lot of inventory
at an inflated cost, then the COGS is being reduced on the income statement too much because of
this. If the inventory were to be revalued at it s correct standard cost, there would be a large

Andrew Jackson s Characterization Of The Age Of Jackson
Andrew Jackson first had a military career that evolved into a political career in the Age of
Jackson. The Age of Jackson is an accurate characterization of the era between 1815 and 1845,
because Jackson dominated the political sphere in the US. He was the dominant political figure that
was almost as influential and as representative as Martin Van Buren. Van Buren was the only
politician that could challenge Andrew Jacksonin politics, because Jackson s characterization
embodied the views held in the first 40 years of the early 1800s.
Does that seem an apt characterization?
Jackson maintained his image as a dominant figure as president from 1828 to 1837 when he
fought for southerners as he garnered the attention of Whigs to preserve the Union. Jackson is
regarded as a national hero that excelled in military and politics. Examples of this accurate
characterization are his title as the Indian Fighter and his actions as President of the United
States. In The Battle of New Orleans and Seminole Wars. His actions, while extremely
xenophobic and racist, were revered by the general public, but he is still seen as a national
historical figure. He had a decisive victory over the British in the Battle of New Orleans when he
prevented the British from taking the Louisiana Purchase despite being outnumbered by around
10,000 troops. He was an astute militarily strategist that anticipated and fended off British at the

Master Locksmiths Research Paper
Why You Need a Master Locksmith
At some point in life, most people will lose their keys or their locks will become jammed,
damaged, or broken. A master locksmith can provide quality service at an affordable rate, and
provide safety and reassurance.
24 Hour Emergency Service
One of the greatest benefits of hiring a master locksmith is they offer 24 hour emergency service.
No one can predict when they are going to be accidentally locked out of their car or home, and it
may happen at a notably inconvenient hour. As such, the ability to have 24 hour emergency care is
of utmost importance. Professional locksmiths are quick and will get you safely on your way,
whether it be back inside your car or your home.
Master Locksmiths Provide Higher Quality Locks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A master locksmith tends to provide a much higher quality lock than those that can be purchased
in a local store or hardware department store. Locks that are self installed or purchased from local
stores may not have the quality or the security needed to ensure their safety. Locks that are not of
high quality can be easily compromised and bypassed. In order to have the highest levels of safety
and security, a master locksmith is the solution.
Locksmiths Can Evaluate the Condition of a Lock
Master locksmiths can do more than just get you back into your car or home and install new
locks. They can also professionally evaluate the condition of your current lock and scan for
damage or any other problems. Master locksmiths are trained to look for potential problems with
locks that can lead to security compromises or dysfunction. Having a master locksmith assess the

Progressives had a very unfavorable view of reconstruction. The progressives believed that Johnson
was a victim of the radical republicans, who painted themselves with the moral high ground, but
only favored black suffrage and rights as a way to control the South politically and economically.
Foner then provides some survivors and black historians, like W.E.B. Du Bois, that dissented from
the previous rendering of reconstruction. Reconstruction, for these historians, was an idealistic
effort to transition the country from slavery to a racial harmony. These writers also paint freedmen
as real changemakers in reconstruction, not just people affected by white policy. Foner then writes
of the revisionists who drew from these dissenters, and from new scholarship and evidence. Foner
also notes that this revisionary spirit could come from a change in racial attitudes, associated with
the modern civil rights movements. The revisionists go against the thought of Johnson as a victim,
and instead clear the stigma associated with the radicals who had gotten him impeached. They write
that the reconstruction legislation was not forced through by radials, and instead had public and
congressional support. They also try to erase the belief that the South was a victim, and instead
wrote of the services that the republicans brought to the South, like public schools, equal
citizenship, and the rebuilding of the southern economy and reassociates corruption with the South,

The failure of improper accessibility before the launching of product turns out to be a big flaws on
Mattel, Mattel as a leading manufacturer of toys should have a department that would take a
maximum test on company product so as to ensure that recall of product would not come up by the
customers. A unique factor for Mattelin research and development has made the company has

Jesus And Jesus Signs In The Gospel Of Jesus
Although there are many signs throughout the Gospel of John (John 2:1 11), the wedding at Cana
was one of the first signs that Jesus performed within his lifetime. The story beings explaining the
scene, On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding (John 2:1 2). Understanding those who
were acquainted with Jesuswere all present during the wedding allows for the reader to assume
that this could have been the first sign Jesus was able to show his loving disciples that he truly
was the divine power. Although the disciples of Jesus did believe that he was truly the Messiah,
they had not physically seen an actual miracle to be performed by the divine being. Realizing that
not only was this the first physical sign that Jesus performed to the people of Galilee, but also to
his immediate followers, is an incredible fact that not many take into consideration.
At the beginning of the chapter 2 in the Gospel of John, the mother of Jesus was the first to hold a
converse with the divine being. The wine had ran short for the wedding, enabling the mother of
Jesus to gain a sense of empathy for the bride and groom. This empathy enabled her to tell her
son, They have no wine (John 2:3). Jesus responded, Women, how does your concern affect me?
My hour has not come yet. (John 2:4). The response Jesus gave to his mother was quite unusual.
The typical response to a mother from her son

Essay On Abolishment Of The Juvenile Courts
I am arguing against the abolishment of the juvenile courts, as opposed to the alternative, which
leaves juveniles no chance of rehabilitation and returning to society. The intent of the juvenile court
was to rehabilitee and return the juvenile to society through intervention and supervision, rather
than focusing on the guilt and punishment. The juvenile courts were given great discretion to
evaluate the individual needs of each juvenile. Therefore, the juvenile courts were designed to
operate like social welfare agencies to focus on the best interests of the child. The juvenile courts
purpose is to recognize the differences between juveniles and adults. Position As we learned in
CJAD330 and other juvenile related courses, the juvenile court was informal and there was no
determining guilt or innocence, so it did not require legal representation. The doctrine of parens
patriac give judges the authority to act in loco parentis, basically permits the state to act in place of
the parents. Throughout the years the juvenile courts acted under a traditional model of treatment
and rehabilitation, which all brought concerns about excessive punishment and lack of legal
protections for juveniles that extended due process protections to juveniles. The juvenile courts
have become more formal; juveniles were given the right to legal representation, and more
adversarial. How should juveniles be handled? Do juveniles have due process safeguards? Whether
or not to abolish the juvenile

Mermaid Stereotypes
Many people believe mermaids and other sea creatures are mythological, because of folklore
stereotypes, rare sightings, and contrived evidence. From 586 A.D. to the twentieth century,
people believe that these magical creatures thrive in the deepest parts of the ocean. There are
many supposed sightings of mermaids, some believe these creatures can bring fortune or death;
through numerous sightings these stories are very similar. Some say they saw women with
beauty like no other, her hair the color of black, and her torso just like a women, while from her
waist down was the bottom half of a porpoise, or a fish. These women were either luring men with
their tempted voice to the bottom of the ocean where they would drown or sometimes even causing

With rare sightings, and contrived evidence many people don t know the origin of these stories,
and many don t bother trying to figure it out. However, storytellers had a tendency to tell the
people what they wanted to hear. So they were quite happy to bend the truth to please their
audience if, for example, they thought the audience would pay more for a different ending! The
truth was sometimes the least important thing. (Myths and Legends) This proves that money and
wealth were and are, in today s world, more important than the truth and reality of stories. People
used to tell stories, because they saw and witnessed what happened, but over time people have
initiated how we tell things: switching out information to make the story better and less genuine.
Over decade and centuries, people have contrived evidence to prove the authenticity of mermaids
and other mythological creatures; and decade after decade, people have been caught for forgery
and artificial evidence. Therefore, many people only know what people tell them, but in order to
figure something out, sometimes all we need is our own

Sparta was ruthless. Their army ruled over all others. Sparta a very violent civilization. They had

weaknesses of Sparta still outweigh the strengths because they were lacking in education, they were
very abusive, and they provided the boys with an awfully unfair amount of supplies.
First off, Sparta lacked very much in education. Document A mentions, Only the rudiments
[basics] of reading and writing were taught. Every child deserves the proper education,
nevertheless Sparta took that away. Spartans weren t allowed to read books or perform plays.

The Taming Of The Shrew Analysis
Performing Marriage with a Difference: Wooing, Wedding, and Bedding in The Taming of the
Shrew Amy L. Smith Even before the recent burgeoning of performance theory, The Taming of the
Shrew was of great interest to critics interested in role playing , identity, and theatricality. And
because Kate s taming and her performative speech both take place in a play within a play, Taming
fostered a critical interest in the intersection between performance and genderlong before the phrase
gender trouble became commonplace. The recent debates about performance, culture, and theater
sparked in part by Judith Butlersuggest, however, that it is time to revisit our analysis of gender and
performance in this play. Although there are a number of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ramer, they dramatize a marriage that leaves Kate and Petruchio negotiating not only gender
hierarchies but also love, sexuality, and parental demands. The Turning s particular reiteration of
marriage enacts a series of negotiations for power, none of which results in a marriage based on
simple domination and submission or perfect egalitarianism. By exaggerating husbandly
dominance, for example, Petruchio s performance draws our attention not to the power inherent in
such dominance but rather to its inefficacy. Thereby a conception of marriage that expects
hierarchy and mutuality to coincide effortlessly is questioned. Kate emphasizes the room marriage
leaves for maneuverability by enacting one that incorporates her wit and sexuality into her very
performances of submission. Thus by thinking of marriage (andthefemalesubjectionitrequires) as
performative, we can read Kate s agency through her reiteration of the role of wife a reiteration
that stresses her reshaping of Petruchio and their marriage. By using performance theory to
contend that gendered institutions such as marriage can and do change, I suggest that the very
institutions which some critics suggest Kate is forced either to accept or to escape are instead
critiqued and perhaps even shaped by her.4 Indeed, one of the reasons that the field of
performance studies is so prevalent today and has so much to offer our readings of this play is

John Maynard Keynes And Joseph Alois Schumpeter During The...
Keynes versus Schumpeter Among many economists throughout the world, especially two
ambitious figures, John Maynard Keynes and Joseph Alois Schumpeter, stood out vividly. Although
both of the economists ideologies differ greatly, each figure had contributed to the betterment of the
society throughout the world, especially the United States of America. Keynes, a command
economist, was in favor of government interference while Schumpeter, a free market economist,
was in favor of determining prices and goods by the consumers. In order to distinguish differences
between command and free market economy, three components are used as a guide. First, the
influence of John Maynard Keynesduring the Great Depression. Second, the influence of Joseph
Alois Schumpeter during the Great Depression. Third, the rise of Keynes and Schumpeter.
Ultimately, the practices of the command and free market economy are the fundamental part of any
economy. Hence, Joseph Alois Schumpeter was the eminent figure that enlightened the benefits of
letting the economy flow without government intervention for the betterment of the society.
Monetarism
When looking into Keynes and Schumpeter s introspective opinion on monetary spending, both
economists shared many similarities and differences. First, Keynes (1936) creates a contrast
between a cooperative real wage economy and an entrepreneurial money wage economy while
Schumpeter (1934) creates a contrast between the circular flow and economic

Sir Edmund Hillary And Tenzing Norgay And Mount Everest
Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first people to reach the top of Mount Everest.
Ever since that event occurred, climbers have also attempted to reach the top as well. The mountain
became polluted and has been collecting more piles of debris because of this. After Hillary and
Norgay s accomplishment, Hillary used his money to help the environment and encouraged
mountain climbers to clean up their garbage. For instance, the first source states He also demanded
that mountain climbers clean up the garbage that often got left behind on Mount Everestmaterials
like used oxygen bottles, which climbers would discard because of their weight (The World s
Highest Mountain). Mountain climbers who followed their steps often left behind waste. He did
not want to pollute Mount Everest, therefore he asked the climbers to pick up the trash they could
possibly leave. Moreover, it also explains that Hillary was also deeply concerned about the
environment. He helped establish reforestation programs in Nepal (The World s Highest Mountain).
His concern for the mountain s environment caused him to help build reforestation programs in
Nepal. Because of the trash left in the area, these program were created to help the habitat. The
source s explanation of how Hillary cherished the mountain and urged others to clean up their
garbage displays that climbers contributed to the pollution of Mount Everest. They left behind

The Old Testament And The New Testament
80. Why Is OWNERSHIP An Illusion?
The two gospels, The Old Testament and The New Testament provide mirror images of Terrestrial
Humans mentality Evolution and the comprehensive overview of the mental developmental trends
over a span covering last five millennia. The Old Testament moral norms served in establishing a
legal system with base in an absolute, irrevocable right of private ownership. Incontestable proof of
continuous process of Evolution in this micro segment of Spiral is an emergence of The New
Testament , as a herald of a new mental era on the Earth, which naturally succeeds The Old
Testament . Needless to remind, that The Old Testament also inspired adherents to vehemently
follow the principle an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth , a total defence of ownership
...based on the superstition or the illusion that one was God s chosen people and was superior to
all heathens . (Quote from Livets Bog , Vol IV #1310)
Further, the Old World Testament advocates the ownership right over marriage and the emerged
laws allowed a capital punishment in the instance of the discovery of infidelity . Even today, the
same anti civilization legal heritage package and outrageously severe unwritten rules represent
daily routine in the most conservative and primitive corners of the Globe. Marital fidelity defended
by force and violence is definitively unsustainable practice and turns ...marriage into an enforced

The Pros And Cons Of Machine Learning
Machine learning and Deep Learning Some machines are capable to acquire their own knowledge
by extracting patterns from raw data, a phenomenon known as machine learning (ML) (Bengio, Ian
and Aaron 2016). Without question, many aspects of modern society have been deeply impacted by
these machine learning systems. Furthermore, ML claims to accomplish simple results that can be
effortlessly understood by humans (Michie, et al. 1994). Outputs from these systems that are used
in service systems include, but are not limited to offering customers new items and narrowing down
their search based on their interests; language understanding, object recognition, speech perception,
and identifying and favoring significant results of online searches (Yann , Yoshua and Geoffrey
2015). It is important to emphasize that even though human intervention is necessary for
background knowledge, the operational phase is expected to be without human interaction (Michie,
et al. 1994). Consequently, these systems must be able to learn through time. According to
Alpaydin (2004), they must be able to evolve and optimize a performance criterion in order to
adapt to the environmental changes to which they are exposed over time. These systems do that
through the use of past experience or example data. Russell et al. (2004), classified machine
learning tasks into three different groups based on the feedback available to the learning system
and the nature of the learning signal: supervised learning,

  • 2. A Clear Midnight By Walt Whitman The poem A Clear Midnight by Walt Whitman is only one quatrain, yet the poem enacts a threshold experience. The time of midnight is the transition from one day to the next. Whitman uses this moment as a metaphor from corporal existence to spiritual existence. Whitman describes this transition to be clear as nothing is hidden nor feared. Whitman is trying to correspond the inner and outer world, the physical and spiritual worlds. To achieve this harmony, Whitman seems to address his soul; the soul being the idea that connects the physical and spiritual world. One may believe that Whitman wants the poem to be trigger to his soul dwelling in eternity. A Clear Midnight is contemplative and deals with the vast subject of human s nature to wonder. This poem is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the entirety of the poem, the interaction between his physical body and his spiritual soul. Whitman is essential judging the deepest part of himself, his soul. The soul is so deep that you need everything quite and peaceful just to think about it. Whitman is looking at his true self, not physical but spiritually. Whitman is thinking about his essence, what truly make Whitman who he is. The theme of A Clear Midnight is the connection between life and spirit and how we understand that to be. As humans, our knowledge of the spiritual world is limited. All humans know about is the physical world, how things look and how the work. But, human have the wisdom to acknowledge that there is a spiritual side. The poem is saying that this spiritual side show our true self, and how is it is difficult to look into. In A Clear Midnight , everything in the world has to calm and quite just to even think about this spiritual side. Whitman shows that this spiritual side is hard to comprehend and understand as physical humans. Yet, this complex side of people means the most to humans. It shows how you think and why you think it, the true man that you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Effects Of Rms On The Weekly Calls As RMS continues to indicate, based on our observations and more importantly on the review of assets during our weekly calls with Altisource, RMS continues to believe on many of these assets, the condition or location of the property is the primary driver behind not only the large reduction in list price, but ultimately a sales price well below the initial list price, all of which contribute to extended days on market and an increase in carrying costs incurred by the Trust. We believe one of the contributors to this relates to the Altisource process where the listing agent is not local to the property and typically has not personally visited the assetto assess the condition, the location, drive by the comps and generally may not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because Altisource cannot be directed to set the list price of an asset, RMS attempts to get Altisource to recognize assets that are listed too high and to make appropriate adjustments that will generate activity and offers. RMS continues to review assets where we believe the list price set by Altisource is high relative to our opinion of market value. On listed assets with DOM of more than 60 days, RMS and Altisource discuss the list price and agent feedback to understand why purchase offers have not been received. RMS targets these assets for review every 2 weeks. Another recent observation is an increase in the number of assets in pending contract that fall out because the buyer fails to return the purchase agreement. This trend has continued to increase over the past several months. Although Altisource does not provide statistics regarding overall fallout, RMS has seen an increase based on our observations and the weekly calls. We believe this relates to the process by which Altisource sells REO assets (on the HUBZU website), where there is no economic penalty to the bidder if they place an offer on a property but fail to deliver an executed purchase agreement (similar to what would happen in a traditional sale transaction). In addition, we believe the lack of agent to agent contact and knowledge of whether a buyer visits the property prior to making an offer also play a role in the increased fallout. • 4. Economic Sanctions And International Institutions With An... Economic sanctions provide states and international institutions with an invaluable instrument of coercion. Without having to resort to violence, at least in the traditional sense, states can gain concessions and compliance from the target state. Economic sanctions are, however, not always successful. An analysis of 204 cases of implemented economic sanctions, from the start of the Cold War to 2000, revealed that economic sanctions were at least partially successful a mere 34% of the time (Hufbauer). While all economic sanctions have financial implications, there is a distinction to be drawn between economic sanctions which include both trade and financial sanctions and financial sanctions, as a standalone term. Financial sanctions can be defined as restrictions that limit the provision of certain financial services or restrict access to financial markets, funds and economic resources in order to achieve a specific foreign policy or national security objective (Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation HM Treasury). As the international financial system has become more globalized, and as a result more difficult to avoid while engaging in practically any form of economic transaction, the efficacy of financial sanctions has increased over more traditional forms of economic sanctions. Modern financial sanctions also have the added benefit of being more precise than their alternatives. This enables initiator states to institute sanctions in a more stylized manner and ... • 5. The Abandonment Of Professional Autonomy follow modern requirement in providing the same care. The abandonment of professional autonomy could help to resolve some problem in compliance with health care regulations. In healthcare, the goal of a provider is to treat patients and patient and the healthcare professional are pursuing one single personal goal, which is treatment. Some medical providers are failing to follow policies or regulatory requirement when providing care. They should be held account and must be required to follow policies or procedures when providing care. Reduced autonomy on healthcare that is supported by joint pressure, safety rules, and institutionalized safety methods that is standardized could force provider to follow protocol. The strengthen approach to process improvement through focus on quality care in the hospital and educating health care professionals on teamwork and strict regulations can help reduced the autonomy of health care professionals. But the barrier of too much autonomy cannot be overcome when teamwork is not extended across hospital wards or the departments. RenГ© Amalberti, Yves Auroy, Don Berwick, and Paul Barach (2005) stated that the increase in pressure from medical malpractice liability and media scrutiny is creating the need for system level decision. The reason for this is that as systems reaches safer level of performance, the society seeks to hold people accountable or seek legal way out when injuries occur. It has often been asserted that differences in the two candidates television personae accounted in part for Kennedy s election victory. Some, however, dispute the significance of the televised 1960 debates, suggesting that while visual cues undoubtedly have the potential to influence voter perceptions, the nature and extent of the influence remain a matter of speculation (Pendell and Vancil P.54 1988). Furthermore; Keyton (1989) points out that Debates involving candidates for the 1988 presidential nomination carry a similar message. Results of a study of college students revealed the finding that the winner of the 1988 debate was predicted by perceptions of the candidate who projected the strongest personal image, the greatest credibility, the most logical arguments, and the strongest emotional appeals. Furthermore, voter preferences expressed after a first debate were strong predictors of eventual candidate choice. In some political campaigns, even the lack of debates can have significance. George Bush s successful 1988 presidential campaign employed debate avoidance, a reliance upon emotional appeals and ridicule, and a de emphasis of issues. Both of the major U.S. political parties have used such strategies, considered to be departures from ethical behavior (Kelly 1990). Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Ritalin, and the Brain Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, more commonly referred to as simply ADHD, is the most commonly diagnosed disorder among American children today. According to the National Institute on Mental Health an estimated 3 to 5 percent of school age children are affected by this disorder. (1) There are more diagnosed cases of ADHD of in the United States than there are anywhere in the world. The main symptoms of ADHD include developmentally inappropriate levels of attention, concentration, activity, distractibility, and impulsivity. While studies conducted on the short term use of these drugs have indicated strongly favorable results in reducing the symptoms of ADHD, at the present there have not been any conclusive studies to show the long term effects of methylphenidate. To look at the other side of the debate on ADHD one must also consider the argument that while scientists at the moment do not completely understand the nature of ADHD, they are obligated to learn more. If the use of Ritalin has shown obviously beneficial effects is it not logical to use it? The debate surrounding the use of psychostimulants drugs, and more specifically Ritalin, has mainly to do with the lack of understanding concerning ADHD than it does with the drugs themselves. Scientists believe that one first one has to recognize ADHD as a disorder before one can proceed to evaluate its treatments. Ultimately the battle over Ritalin and ADHD demonstrates the lack of understanding we as humans have of the brain and how it functions. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder most popularly associated with an inability to concentrate has been identified by the American Psychiatric Association as displaying nine possible symptoms. To be diagnosed with ADHD a person must display at least six of the nine symptoms. These symptoms include: Making careless mistakes in schoolwork Difficulty sustaining ... • 9. Global Warming Is A Major Problem Salvador Macias Mrs.Gallos English 3 4 16 2015 Global Warming Global Warming is a major problem that needs to be addressed. Its impacts are already costly and significant and is just the beginning of a dangerous trend. The impact of global warming or the more trending term climate change affects not only yourself but the entire world. The earth is saying something with record heat, drought, storms and fire. Scientists are telling us this is what global warming looks like. It s time to listen and take action. There s plenty we can do. (Extreme Weather). Health effects one of the few major impacts of global warming. With increased CO2 emissions in the air it can cause increased issues with people already suffering from asthma. CO2 emissions can also affect pulmonary and cardiac disease worsening the severity of it. Because of the increased heat problems like dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke are becoming more of an issue. Dangerously hot weather is already occurring more frequently than it did 60 years ago and scientists expect heat waves to become more frequent and severe as global warming intensifies. (Global Warming Impacts). If the world does not do more to reduce fossil fuel emissions and other greenhouse gases that are making heat waves more intense, a lot of people could get hurt and around 150,000 additional Americans could die by the end of this century due to excessive heat. • 10. Turning Points In To Kill A Mockingbird Everything has to evolve or else it perishes (Knowles 125). Turning points are the moments in our lives that define who we are and how we feel; they help us evolve into different people. Often, that evolution comes from a loss of innocence. In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, Jem changes from a naive and optimistic child to a young adult with a more realistic view of life. In John Knowles A Separate Peace, Finny also struggles with dealing with the reality of a world he doesn t really fit in. Both boys face turning points that fundamentally change who they are, and in some ways, destroy them. Phineas was a bubbly, charismatic, happy go lucky person who seemed to love life and all the opportunities it brought. However, Finny s life completely changed when he fell out of a tree and shattered his leg. Sports exemplified Finny, friendly competition with no clear winners or losers. After Finny learned that he could not walk or play sports anymore, his once optimistic thoughts changed. Later in the novel, Finny was no longer the happy, energetic person he used to be. He was depressed about the current state he was in and upset that he couldn t enlist in the military. Finny wrote to every... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 12. The Research Into Leisure Constraints As more models of analysis are being made around the research of leisure there has been a shift in terminology. There has been a movement away from the term barrier to the more inclusive term constraint. In addition, we do not mean to imply that the existence of barriers automatically leads to non participation in leisureactivities. Individuals are not passive; instead, they often successfully or unsuccessfully negotiate through constraints (Jackson, 1995; Crawford et al, 1991). There have been many models developed to analyze the literature on constraints/ barriers. Many of these models have been criticized for their lack of insight into an individual s decision making process and their static approach. What is evident is that there is no consensus on what is the best model or approach to take. The research into leisure constraints continues to grow. As far as leisure participation or nonparticipation are concerned...constraints are encountered hierarchically, first at the interpersonal level. Leisure preferences are formed when interpersonal constraints (eg. stress, socialization, perceived self skill) are absent or their effects have been confronted through some combination of privilege and exercise of human will. Next, depending on the type of activity, the individual may encounter constraints at the interpersonal level (eg. interpersonal interactions); this could happen in activities requiring at least one partner or co participant but would be less relevant in the ... I felt a little nervous and shaky, but I practiced so I knew I wasn t going to mess up that majorly. I went over it several times and changed a variety of things. I couldn t really think of any visuals except for the video. So at first I had music behind every point I had. Each song was planned appropriately for the topic of the point. Then, though, I knew that would be a hassle to deal with between points, especially because I was already over on my time. I estimated that I was around seven minutes. That was only in the beginning. First though, before all of that of course, I pondered about three main points of Jim. The most recognizable is his acting career, but I wouldn t talk about that the whole time. Another was his early life because countless of people don t know he s from Canada or how he grew up very poor and even homeless. During the mid nineteenth century after communism has took over china, many individuals were arguing that their field of their talent (such as art, music, agricultural skills etc.) was not being seen and recognised by anyone in society. This is believed to be a trigger for the 1959 Tibetan uprising protests (which occurred just ten years after china was under communist rule) in China against a communist party rule. Furthermore they state, The ocean pH levels has decreased from approximately 8.2 to 8.1 between pre industrial time and the 1990s, and may reach 7.8 in 2100. The issue of Ocean Acidificationis dependent on the pH levels of the oceans. The belief is lowered pH levels could cause disastrous effects to the millions of different types of sea life in the oceans. Scientists believe that a difference in pH levels could devastate the ecology of the oceans. For example, it is stated by Gattuso Lina that, Changes in the carbonate chemistry of seawater can have a wide range of effects, some of which may be mediated through disturbances in the acid base status of affected organisms. As a result, The extracellular pH of body fluids in animals and the intracellular pH of various organisms are usually tightly regulated, but the capacity of regulatory ... • 40. Andrew Jackson s Characterization Of The Age Of Jackson Andrew Jackson first had a military career that evolved into a political career in the Age of Jackson. The Age of Jackson is an accurate characterization of the era between 1815 and 1845, because Jackson dominated the political sphere in the US. He was the dominant political figure that was almost as influential and as representative as Martin Van Buren. Van Buren was the only politician that could challenge Andrew Jacksonin politics, because Jackson s characterization embodied the views held in the first 40 years of the early 1800s. Does that seem an apt characterization? Jackson maintained his image as a dominant figure as president from 1828 to 1837 when he fought for southerners as he garnered the attention of Whigs to preserve the Union. Jackson is regarded as a national hero that excelled in military and politics. Examples of this accurate characterization are his title as the Indian Fighter and his actions as President of the United States. In The Battle of New Orleans and Seminole Wars. His actions, while extremely xenophobic and racist, were revered by the general public, but he is still seen as a national historical figure. He had a decisive victory over the British in the Battle of New Orleans when he prevented the British from taking the Louisiana Purchase despite being outnumbered by around 10,000 troops. He does this by introducing the first understanding of reconstruction, and then moves to different schools of thought that progressed through time until the latest interpretation today. The first understanding of reconstruction, in which the Dunning School had the largest influence, pushed the idea that the South gracefully accepted their defeat, and just wanted to rejoin the Union and govern again. Under this school, white southerners wanted freedmen to succeed, and were ready to be cooperative. However, against Abraham Lincolnand Andrew Johnson s wishes, Radical Republicans sought to punish... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Progressives had a very unfavorable view of reconstruction. The progressives believed that Johnson was a victim of the radical republicans, who painted themselves with the moral high ground, but only favored black suffrage and rights as a way to control the South politically and economically. Foner then provides some survivors and black historians, like W.E.B. Du Bois, that dissented from the previous rendering of reconstruction. Reconstruction, for these historians, was an idealistic effort to transition the country from slavery to a racial harmony. These writers also paint freedmen as real changemakers in reconstruction, not just people affected by white policy. Foner then writes of the revisionists who drew from these dissenters, and from new scholarship and evidence. Foner also notes that this revisionary spirit could come from a change in racial attitudes, associated with the modern civil rights movements. The revisionists go against the thought of Johnson as a victim, and instead clear the stigma associated with the radicals who had gotten him impeached. They write that the reconstruction legislation was not forced through by radials, and instead had public and congressional support. The story beings explaining the scene, On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding (John 2:1 2). Understanding those who were acquainted with Jesuswere all present during the wedding allows for the reader to assume that this could have been the first sign Jesus was able to show his loving disciples that he truly was the divine power. Although the disciples of Jesus did believe that he was truly the Messiah, they had not physically seen an actual miracle to be performed by the divine being. Realizing that not only was this the first physical sign that Jesus performed to the people of Galilee, but also to his immediate followers, is an incredible fact that not many take into consideration. At the beginning of the chapter 2 in the Gospel of John, the mother of Jesus was the first to hold a converse with the divine being. The wine had ran short for the wedding, enabling the mother of Jesus to gain a sense of empathy for the bride and groom. This empathy enabled her to tell her son, They have no wine (John 2:3). • 47. Essay On Abolishment Of The Juvenile Courts I am arguing against the abolishment of the juvenile courts, as opposed to the alternative, which leaves juveniles no chance of rehabilitation and returning to society. The intent of the juvenile court was to rehabilitee and return the juvenile to society through intervention and supervision, rather than focusing on the guilt and punishment. The juvenile courts were given great discretion to evaluate the individual needs of each juvenile. Therefore, the juvenile courts were designed to operate like social welfare agencies to focus on the best interests of the child. The juvenile courts purpose is to recognize the differences between juveniles and adults. Position As we learned in CJAD330 and other juvenile related courses, the juvenile court was informal and there was no determining guilt or innocence, so it did not require legal representation. The doctrine of parens patriac give judges the authority to act in loco parentis, basically permits the state to act in place of the parents. Throughout the years the juvenile courts acted under a traditional model of treatment and rehabilitation, which all brought concerns about excessive punishment and lack of legal protections for juveniles that extended due process protections to juveniles. The juvenile courts have become more formal; juveniles were given the right to legal representation, and more adversarial. How should juveniles be handled? Do juveniles have due process safeguards? Keynes, a command economist, was in favor of government interference while Schumpeter, a free market economist, was in favor of determining prices and goods by the consumers. The Pros And Cons Of Machine Learning Machine learning and Deep Learning Some machines are capable to acquire their own knowledge by extracting patterns from raw data, a phenomenon known as machine learning (ML) (Bengio, Ian and Aaron 2016). Without question, many aspects of modern society have been deeply impacted by these machine learning systems. Furthermore, ML claims to accomplish simple results that can be effortlessly understood by humans (Michie, et al. 1994). Outputs from these systems that are used in service systems include, but are not limited to offering customers new items and narrowing down their search based on their interests; language understanding, object recognition, speech perception, and identifying and favoring significant results of online searches (Yann , Yoshua and Geoffrey 2015). It is important to emphasize that even though human intervention is necessary for background knowledge, the operational phase is expected to be without human interaction (Michie, et al. 1994). Consequently, these systems must be able to learn through time. According to Alpaydin (2004), they must be able to evolve and optimize a performance criterion in order to adapt to the environmental changes to which they are exposed over time. These systems do that through the use of past experience or example data. Russell et al.
