An Analysis Of Mccarthyism By Senator Joseph Mccarthy
You wear boots? You re a communist. You walk straight? You re a communist. You winked at me?
You re a communist. These are examples of saying that might be said by Senator Joseph
McCarthy during the 1950 s when McCarthyism was going on. There are many ways that Joseph
McCarthy does not meet the responsibilities of a U.S. senator because he doesn t effectively
represent the people that voted for him, be truthful toward thoughts, or have positive attitudes
toward people especially the people that criticize him. Some responsibilities of a U.S. Senator are
writing and passing laws, ratifying treaties with other countries, and representing the people that
elected them. The Senators of the U.S. are a group of people that work together and write

Depression In William Wordsworth
I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be suffering
from various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is highly successful and
influential in the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and
disillusionment with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have
encountered in the past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black
bile that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and
hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience melancholic
thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression as they allow the
pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and inspiration. Instead of
suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear to be
experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the
infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to
believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also
seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth
,
often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge
instead experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily. Mr. John

Taking a Look at Mental Illnesses
Mental illnesses are a serious matter that affect a person as much as someone with a physical
illness. Mental illnesses are medical conditions that affect a person s mental health. They are as
serious as other disorders such as diabetes and should be treated as so. The amount of talk by
those who aren t well informed and often assume has created many misconceptions about mental
illnesses. In order to successfully make those around people with mental illnesses to be aware of
the harm these disorders cause a person these misconceptions need to be cleared. Mental illnesses
need to be treated like the threat they indeed are like real illnesses.
Mental illnesses are conditions in which a person s mental health is affected to a point that they
aren t able to cope with life s expectations. An example is a common known disorder known as
depression, when someone experiences depression they may feel like they no longer want to thrive
and be happy in their life. This happens due to the amount of brain activity the disorder causes to
diminish. According to www.nimh.nih.gov when a person has depression he or she may expirience
being very tired, a loss of interest in activites once enjoyed, and thoughts or attemp of suicide.
Depression is caused by a couple of factors are genes and brain chemistry which is irregular to
normal people. Stress is a major factor that affects those with the mental illness because they are
not able to cope with it like the majority of people. The fact is

performance data into manageable and controllable clusters. Strategic analysis, which explores
various ways a company can create and sustain a competitive advantage in the market place. It
emphasizes future opportunities and challenges, using a combination of both physical and financial
measures to explore the impact of alternative strategic positions. Benchmarking, which identifies an
activity as the standard and is used to assist managers in identifying a process or technique to
increase the effectiveness or efficiency of an activity. Operational analysis, which seeks to identify,
measure and improve current performance of key processes and operations within a firm.
Profitability / pricing analysis, which assists a company in analyzing the costs and benefits of
products and processes in both the as is and post improvement to be scenarios (Horngren et al.,

income statement and the statement of cash flow, and also it would affect the balance sheet of the
company. For Johnson amp; Johnson, it is

My Breaching Social Norm Experiment
For my breaching social norm experiment, I was determined to do something I would never do
even if it was a dare, especially since my ability to interact with strangers is not what I consider
advanced. So, I decided to make people feel uncomfortable by holding their hand. What I would
do is walk up to the person from behind and slowly make my way to their handto make them feel
even more uncomfortable. People normally hold hands with their significant other, or with
someone they know, like a friend or family member, so to be holding hands with a stranger is
infrequent and abnormal. In preparation for starting our experiment, it took my confidant,
Carla, and I about an hour to finally initiate the first move. Before even holding hands with
strangers my mind was swirling with multiple questions and thoughts, like Why am I even doing
this? , I don t appreciate making people feel uncomfortable. , Why is Mrs.Henry torturing me! ,
Can I just not do it? , and so on. In addition to my thoughts and questions, I felt myself sweating
and my stomach felt as if it was in a twisted knot. While I approached my first victim I felt the
temperature of my body raise up to boiling point and the color of my skin turn from snow white
to lava red in a split second. To make things worse, once I held onto the lady s hand, she was
gripping onto mine and was holding on tight, and my reaction was to laugh because when you are
in an uncomfortable situation you honestly don t know how to

The Theory Of Multiple Intelligences Theory
What is intelligence? Is it how well an individual can excel at academic tasks, emotional tasks, or
physical tasks? Can intelligence be measure scientifically and accurately or is it an abstract idea or
concept that requires an individual to critically think and come up with an answer? A common
interpretation of intelligenceis the ability or abilities of an individual s capacity for: logic, emotion,
abstract, learning, planning, understanding, memory, self awareness, creativity, and most important
of all is the ability to problem solved. Intelligence itself is an umbrella with subtypes under it, and
the one to inquire about is the theory of multiple intelligences. Many scientists believe that this
theory does not exist because it cannot be proven scientifically but multiple intelligence theory
does exist. Multiple intelligences is not a teaching style as many seem to believe, but it is a new
way to look at the IQ of an individual while not being bounded by the traditional IQ tests. Just like
general intelligences theory, the multiple intelligence theory can be used to distinguish intelligences
through tests, logically define theory, as well as real world experiences and applications. These two
theories, multiple and general intelligence, has been debated time and time again in the field of
psychology but with no absolute solution.
The theory of multiple intelligences was originated by Howard E. Gardner and was publicized in
1983 in his book, Frames of Mind: The Theory of

Comparison 60 Minutes Analysis
This stark contrast of Thomasson s interview on 60 Minutes is apparent when you compare both
of them. Two individuals had such different outlooks on the same idea and also voiced it on the
same media channel. What made this interaction so critical was the mystery and vagueness
surrounding this hot button issue. It allowed for a stage of colliding ideas that aren t always valid
but it allowed for competing views to obtain exposure. Since being seen is not the same thing as
being known which can create gaps or voids within their image.
LGBTQ activists created a way to counteract the negative media circling them during this time
period from conservative group. They created Logo, a U.S. network that launched in 2005 which
was broadcasted on MTV. This was an explicitly lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender channel, has
been implementing a rebranding strategy that it labels gaystreaming . Logo s rebranding,
gaystreaming is strikingly devoid of negative connotations to promote a greater positive image of
LGBTQ individuals in America. It currently encapsulates a range of related, but distinct meanings
to do with going beyond what gay content traditionally connotes in terms of people or characters,
storylines, and entire genres of entertainment. (Logo) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The House Of Mirth And The Awakening Essay
While feminist ideologies in both The House of Mirth and The Awakening are quite controversial
and maybe to some nonexistent, it is quite evident that there are these two women who want to
fight against their societal norms and patriarchal society. Lily Bart from House of Mirth tries to
manipulate societal norms in order to achieve success, and Edna Pontellier from The Awakening
actively tries to become and independent woman. In the end, I think they both succeed in
becoming independent women and ideal feminists because of how they fight against their
societies. Even though both Edna and Lily are suppressed by their society, they not only use their
knowledge of society to fight against it, but they prove in the end of both novels that they are
truly independent women and can be just as free willed as the men. Both Edna Pontellier and Lily
Bart understand what society expects of them, and they use that knowledge later to manipulate
conventional societal norms to try to become individuals. Albeit, it does not end ideally for them,
but throughout both The Awakening and The House of Mirth Edna and Lily fight the suppressive
nature of their societies. Edna is different from Lily in this sense, however, because Edna
eventually actively rejects the ideal mother woman. When the novel first begins, we get a glimpse
of what Edna was like when she was younger, which continues during her marriage to Mr.
Pontellier. Knowing what she was like earlier on in her life shows how she

Boeing 787 Case Analysis
System viewpoints regards the organization as a system interrelated parts , can be considered a
system with many parts/departments that contributes to its organization to becoming successful. A
systems viewpoint includes four parts Inputs, Transformation processes, Output and Feedback
which all are important in a company. In the article Boeing especially displayed all systems to
become a better company. Throughout this paper I will be discussing how Boeing Company tries to
get their company back in order, starting with management involvement, suppliers and elaborating
how management methods plays a role in a company s outcome.
After reading the WSJ Boeing 787 article I was able to get a better understanding of what was
going good and bad within the company. Boeing is an overall good company but they were
having difficulties producing enough jets along with supplies coming in on time. Vaupell
Holdings Inc. Supplier of Boeing is in need of change in their system. Boeing has become more
involved as a company sending engineers to examine products for planes and jets. In my opinion
Boeing as a company is showing Quality control minimizing errors by managing each stage of
production which calls for engineers to examine supplies before they carry forward with making
planes.
Boeing is trying to change the past and prove themselves to the world they can also keep up.
Boeing has won a series of contracts hope to make 300 more jets a year with their new plan. In the

Syntax In Scarlet Letter
D.H. Lawrence provides an effective critical analysis of Hester Prynne from Nathaniel Hawthorne
s novel, The Scarlet Letter. He criticizes Hawthorne s portrayal of the story s protagonist, which
negatively affects the way readers view her. Lawrence s writing targets Prynne as a seductive
woman with vile intentions. D.H. Lawrence s critical analysis is effective because he uses literary
devices such as succinct syntax, a sarcastic tone, and biblical allusions in his analysis of Hester
Prynne. Lawrence s succinct syntax is effective in making rapid, direct jabs at Hawthorne s
characterization of Hester Prynne. For instance, Lawrence strengthens his argument by saying, The
fiery heart. A. Mary of the Bleeding Heart. Mater Adoleratal A. Capital A. Adulteress. Glittering
with gold thread. Abel! Adultery. Admirable! (Lawrence). Lawrence s purpose with this syntax is
to capture the reader s attention with the organization of the words. He executes this effectively
because each phrase in the list holds a deeper significance that relates them to Hester Prynne.
Additionally, Lawrence utilizes repetition in his syntax: Adulteress. Alpha. Abel, Adam. A. America
(Lawrence). The alliteration of the letter A is significant because he addresses possible alternative
meanings for the scarlet letter. These words are insults to the character of Hester Prynne and they
are effective because they make the reader have to search for hidden meanings. For example, the
word Abel is a biblical

Restrictions On Law Enforcement Pros And Cons
The USA Patriot Act was signed into law on Oct. 26, 2001, citing the need for more cooperation
among all levels of security, along with broader powers for law enforcement personnel. Police and
other departments were given wider preemptive authority and encouraged to share information. The
goal: a safer America in times of international turmoil.
But as the years have passed and the terrorist attacks seem further away, people have begun to
question whether too many restrictions on law enforcement were rolled back. Recent news that
President Bush has authorized the wiretapping of some phone calls in the United States without
court orders upset many. While the government has defended these actions by saying that only
suspected terrorists were targeted,

The Age Of War And Displacement By Simon Wiesenthal
In the Age of War and Displacement is characterized by imperialism, nationalism, racism, and
power. In an era of both freedom and confinement, Simon Wiesenthal describes his experience of
the Holocaust, which is used to analyze, what it means to be human. After World War One (WWI),
the Germans lost, Hitler assumed authority and began to blame the Jews for what happened in
WWI (Bingle). Within a few months, Germans started to believe Hitler that they were the master
race or supermen, and had no trouble committing genocide of any group Hitler labeled as bad or
subhuman . The Sunflower, address the nature and task of human but also gives a Jewish
perspective of Humanness . Wiesenthal asks, Were we truly all made of the same stud? If so, why
were some murderers and other victims? Was there in fact any personal relationship between us,
between the murderers and their victims, between our camp commandant, Wilhaus, and a tortured
Jews (Wiesenthal 7)? Nationalism is key characteristic in the 20th century and Germany was the
primary country to demonstrate this, with National Socialism. Germans showed their patriotism
and loyalty to their country and fellow citizens. National Socialism affected many Germans... [it]
was for them the fulfillment of their dearest wishes. It lifted them out of their insignificance. That

Planning For An Effective Storage Solution
Introduction Planning for an effective storage solution, whether it is on premise or off premise
can be a challenging task. Off premise planning becomes more complicated as the components
that make up the storage network are generally in the control of the cloud provider. It becomes
critical to maintain the integrity and security of the data, while still offering a seamless storage
solution to the business. The business user does not care where the data is located, or where an
application is hosted. It must be available as needed, with little to no noticeable performance
degradation. High Availability DFS Namespace A distributed file system (DFS) is a good way to

It is bad enough when the local, business network becomes unavailable, but if the Internet link
goes offline, it may take longer to resolve as the provider s network engineers are generally
responsible for getting it back online. It is often difficult to create hybrid systems that integrate
with on premise and off premise systems, and storage. There may be business reasons why there is
a need for a hybrid solution, and the cost and complexity of integrating storage and server systems
may not be advantageous to the organization despite the benefits. Data integrity and security is an
additional risk, and one that should not be taken lightly. The fact is, the cloud service has company
data. While it is true that there are likely contracts and security measures in place to provide
assurance that the data integrity and security will remained unchanged, high profile providers are
excellent candidates for threat actors. Despite this, there are benefits as well. The high profile
companies likely invest far more in security measures than most companies would be willing to do.
This offloads the security requirements to the provider, while allowing the organization to benefit
from the high availability, cost reduction, and increased efficiency of cloud services (Weintraub
Cohen, 2016). Virtual Infrastructure High Availability Virtual infrastructure is here to stay in the

The Project Plan For The Final Project
In doing a research project, it is always important for one to have a plan. In this case, the
following will outline the Project Plan for the final Project. The types of sources, a timeline, a
plan to gather information and a working research question will be outlined for use throughout the
project. The types of sources that will be used for this project will vary. The sources will be
researched using various platforms. Most, if not all, researchwill be done through the internet and

For the Literature review, the initial steps taken will be to spend approximately a week to get all
the sources needed. Once all of the sources have been acquired, the next step will be to pull out
the information and then writing the actual literature review over the few weeks left before the
final due date. The few weeks given should be ample enough time to complete the task. The third
step in writing the rough draft, putting everything done preciously together, will be done
throughout the week given to complete the task (based on the initial due dates given). Once the
rough draft has been written the final draft will be worked on through making any and all
necessary changes to the rough draft. Once turned in, a Power Point presentation will be made
and all will be complete. Through the few weeks, some time management will be needed and
time will be set aside to work on all aspects of the project. For this project, the research question
that will be looked at it the most important to allow for the above to take place. For the purposed

Uses of Hypnotherapy to Treat a Medical Condition
Uses of Hypnotherapy to treat a medical condition
Introduction
The purpose of this essay is to describe and explain the uses of hypnotherapy in the treatment of
a medical condition. For this essay I have chosen to look at a chronic life limiting illness called
Motor Neurone Disease. This is a disease that can affect many different aspects of a person s life
and is very aggressive in its symptoms. I have met quite a few people with this condition whilst
working in the Neurophysiology department at the QMC, where all the nerve and muscles studies
and EMG s are performed. It not only changes the person s life but also the lives of the people
around them. I found this research both upsetting and informative.

Progressive muscular atrophy is a much less common form of MND and tends to progress more
slowly than ALS. People with PMA do not experience musclespasms and they can then go onto
develop ALS.
Progressive bulbar palsy is a form of MND that mainly affects the muscles in the throat, tongue and
face that causes difficulties with speech, swallowing, coughing and clearing the throat. PBP can
also affect the expression of emotions and people might laugh or cry for no apparent reason.
Primary lateral sclerosis is a very rare form of MND in which people experience spasticity but do
not experience muscle wasting or fasciculation s.
Unfortunately none of the above can be diagnosed with one specific hospital test and doctors
will usually recommend a series of tests and investigations which can take a long time and can
cause the person worry and upset thereby causing a knock on effect of depression and anxiety,
these tests are very important however to be able to get the correct diagnosis as all the
symptoms described can also be the pre cursor to many other illnesses and to be diagnosed with
this terrible disease in error would be awful. I think the saddest part of the disease is that although
it will affect almost every part of the person s everyday life and will stop them eventually
performing the most simple of tasks such as personal hygiene and eating it does not affect the mind
or intelligence so

Cultural Values Of Bangladesh
Introduction
This report will discuss the cultural values of Bangladesh. The main purpose is putting the Geert
Hofstede s dimensions of culture into practice. The researcher chose Bangladesh due to the
following reason. Recently, I have worked with the Red Cross refugee program. We have a
volunteer who used to be a refugee from Bangladesh. After a difficult time setting up her life,
Habiba, now, enjoys her life in NZ and would like to help other refugees. Her story inspired me to
do the study about Bangladesh culture.
Discussion and Analysis
The five cultural dimensions of Bangladesh will be discussed in this report. Each dimension
includes three questions. The researcher recorded the answers of the volunteer and analysed them
in order to evaluate the cultural values of Bangladesh. These results are compared with Hofstede s
theory to have a true and fair view about this culture.
1.Individualism vs Collectivism
This dimension determines the culture in the term of I or we . Individualism prefers to the society
in which individuals only take care of themselves and their immediate family. In contrast,
collectivism prefers to the the society in which people integrate and share good relationships in
groups, and expect the unquestioning loyalty. (Hofstede, 1991). The three questions related to this
dimension are:
Question 1: In your culture, do people have many generations (grandparents, parents and children)
living under one roof?
Answer: Yes, we have many families with

Introduction Of A Primary Alcohol
Substitution
5. Introduction In this experiment, a primary alcohol was converted into a primary bromoalkane
using hydrobromic acid. The reaction was done under reflux and then distilled to obtain a product
of higher purity. The degree of the alkyl halide obtained from the experiment was tested with silver
nitrate and sodium iodide. An infrared (IR) spectra and the weight of the product were obtained for
further analysis. The IR gave information on the present functional groups and product weight was
used to calculate the percent yield.
6. Data and Results The product obtained after reflux was a yellow liquid. With the halide tests, the
product reacted faster with sodium iodide to form a precipitate than with silver nitrate. This
indicates that the degree of the product was primary and that bromine did replace the alcohol
group. The IR of the product showed four peaks at 3326.36, 2932.86, 1465.34, and 1028.73.
These peaks indicate O H, C H, C H3, and C O bonds, respectively, within the product. 2.032
grams of product were recovered from the reaction. With this, a percent yield of 27.14% was
calculated. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Nucleophilic aliphatic substitution is the replacement of
one group for another at a saturated, sp3 hybridized carbon atom. This process is often used to
interconvert functional groups, such as in the preparation of alkyl halides. In these reactions,
nucleophiles attack the carbon atom which the electronegative leaving group breaks its bond

The Mexican War Essay
The Mexican War
The factors that started the Mexican War lay heavily on American shoulders. Whether if the
factors were created by social, political or economical needs, they have all become the center of
attention for the question of being a national interest or disgrace. However, the Americans felt that
they existed for ...spreading the blessings of peace. according to Andrew Jackson. There will
always be controversy between the two sides of this matter, the Americans who feel that it had to be
done, to the Mexicans who felt that it was an injustice done to their nation.
First of all, socially, the Americans felt that it was their duty to spread their blessings of democracy
and peace. Through manifest destiny, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
James Polk felt that it was his duty to take it by force and took the matter under his control. Since
John Tyler s decision to hold off the war until Mexicomade the initial attack, Polk took it upon
himself to provoke the Mexicans. To accomplish this, he sent troops to the Rio Grande and marched
them along the border until the Mexicans made their attack. After the report of the attack was
delivered, Abraham Lincoln proposed the Spot Resolutions to find the exact location of the
American bloodshed on American soil . However, the Spot Resolutions were built upon false
statements; the Mexicans attack was premeditated and actually took place on Mexican land. Polk
was successful in starting the desired Mexican War which ultimately led to the defeat of the weaker
adversary Mexico and the attainment of California.
Along with the desire of new land, there were other contributing factors that initiated the war with
Mexico. There were also political and economical factors that were as equally important in the start
of the war. With most of the Mexican land below the 34o30` line, the Democrats and the southern
states were pushing for the war. With the increased amount of representatives for the southern
states, there would finally be a tiebreaker in the free slave argument. Without saying, the Whigs of
the northern states were opposed to the

The Future For Sport Management
Introduction The future for sport management in Australia appears prosperous. Over the years,
Australia has managed to develop an international reputation for sporting excellence through its
national team performances and the expansion of its sports systems (Daly, 1991; ASC, 1998;
Shilbury Kellett, 2011). The country has managed to host some of the greatest sporting events,
notably the Olympic games, the Rugby World Cup, the Cricket World Cup, with aspirations to
bring the Football (soccer) World Cup to Australia in 2018 (ASC, 2011). International sporting
events of this scale are capable of generating considerable revenue for its sport industry, as well as
the country s economy (i.e. tourism). The Australian sport industry has become a multi billion
dollar enterprise (ABS, 2013), and the role of sport management has been intensified as a result of
this. Australian Sport Systems Government Systems The support of government for sport has been
increasing over the last thirty years, and is now on the political agenda of the Australian
government (Shilbury Kellett, 2011). As Australian sport and its industry began to grow and
develop further and further, sport programs were introduced in the sport system, notably the
Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). As a result of this, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC)
was created in order to coordinate sport on the government s behalf (Shilbury Kellett, 2011). Sport

It Really Is That Simple By Melinda Branson
It really is that simple. Melinda Branson s catch phrase signaled the end of her cooking
demonstration and a roar of applause shot through the produce section. The makeshift stage
presented her as some kind of superstar. Flashing a smile she held her tray of appetizers toward
the crowd as if she were proudly showing off the royal baby. Her silly little cooking idea, as her
boss called it six months ago, had grown into an expected Saturday feature. It added much needed
extra hours to her paycheck. With another medical bill for her twin sister Christina, and Dad still
recovering from Mom s unexpected death, she needed all the help she could get to keep the family

Jane Liebschutz Analysis
Doctor s Diaries showed the difficult and challenging life of doctors and how they can affect the
doctor s personal life and professional job. While watching the video, there were two occurrences
that stood out to me the most. The first example was the emotional connection a doctor can have
with a patient, and the second example was the difficulty of getting patients to open up to the
doctors In the first example, Dr. Jane Liebschutz became emotionally connected to an elderly
patient who was having surgery for the first time. The surgery involved removing some vein from
the leg, some vessels in the chest wall, and connecting them to the coronary arteries, which will
help pump blood to his heart. Before the surgery, Dr. Liebschutz met with the patient and talked
with him, reassuring him that the surgery would go well. Within six hours of performing the
surgery, the patient s heart had failed and he passed away. Getting emotional, Dr. Liebschutz cried
because she had never connected with a patient who suddenly passed away while having surgery.

They also have the workload of continuing their daily routine work without letting their emotions

Essay about Fiddler on the Roof
The musical called Fiddler on the Roof was set in Anatefka, Russia around 1880 1900. During this
time, in this small town, held Tevya and his family. Tevya, husband and father of five daughters, is
a cynical, obstinate, determined, yet sensitive to feelings, and caring man. He is a clever
philosopher and sticks very much to tradition. In the story
Tevya says Anatefka is our home...to keep in balance by tradition...
This explains the title which is personally understood that through
Tevya s eyes, without tradition, life would be as a fiddler on a roof, unbalanced. This story,
demonstrates the precarious lives of the
Russian Jews of the late 19th century. The main character, Tevya, compares their lives to that of a

Tevya s blessings. Tevya, puzzled, upset, and surprised, begins to slowly accept after thinking of
the pros and cons. When Tevya does accept, he tells his wife and runs as if not to get scolded.
The third eldest daughter Chava had a guy in mind also. The only problem was that this guy
Fyedka was a Russian Gentile, not a
Jew. When Tevya noticed that, he could definitely not have that at all. Tevya at first would not
give them his blessing, which would break too much tradition, in Tevyas eyes at that time he only
saw four daughters. In the end of the musical, the whole village was forced to leave by the
Cossaks at the Tzars command. Things still went well with the family leaving because they were
leaving to begin a new life in
America with hope. Tevya was eventually reconciled the fact that there was nothing wrong with a
marriage that wasn t arranged by the families and also outside religion. Throughout the story, the
concept of changing times is brought up. Tevya accepts that times and traditions are changing, his
daughters are grown up and in love, and he accepts the marriages which shows the first step of
accepting these changes. As the Tevya says, with everybody knowing their place in the order of

Finally, recognizing multiple motives for norm conformity offers opportunities for research
precluded by theories that either do not differentiate among motives for norm conformity or that do
not distinguish the norm from the motives for conforming to it. First, a multiple motive
conceptualization allows researchers to explore conflict between motives for conforming to social
norms. It is possible that in many contexts people s motives for norm conformity may not be in

researchers can investigate this potential for conflict in future studies. In addition,

Vulgarity In Shakespeare s Cholera
Quoth Shakespeare, Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! (3.2.1). Although bodily humour
possesses a somewhat foul reputation, it appears amongst the works of the greatest and most
sophisticated minds in literary canon to include the Bard himself. Although Peter Smith notes that
Victorian literature seems to shy away from this obscenity, it nonetheless provides examples of the
lewd, and Father Thames Introducing his Offspring to the Fair City of Londonoffers this vulgarity
in spades (12 13). In 1858, the periodical Punch published the above image in response to three
primary factors: firstly, the era during which the river Thamesfaced severe pollution and emitted a
horrendous odor, known as the Great Stink; secondly, an outbreak of... Show more content on

Exemplifying this humourous reduction of status, Cholera thusly produces quite the comedic
figure, with its hunched physicality and the expression of anguish upon its face; of course, owing
to the disease which it represents, its visage and posture inherently call to mind an image of the
coprological, and therefore of the gleefully disgusting body.
In addition to the depiction of Cholera, the figure of Father Thames and the shaping of his body
elicits a sense of the scatalogical as well; rather than possessing a humanoid form akin to the other
characters in the comic, Father Thames cuts an indistinct, lumpy figure that appears to ooze
humorously into the water around him. It seems that the artist intended to evoke an image rather
more distasteful than an anthropomorphized river, and in doing so beckoned our sense of
superiority not only by trivializing the figure of Father Thames, but by dehumanizing him. In his
book On Humour, Simon Critchley emphasizes the particular comedy of invoking this unsavoury
subhumanity, writing, the body returns in laughter in the form of an eruptive, animal physicality
(Critchley 46 47). This vaguely fecal and inhuman perception of Father Thames expresses itself
moreover in two notable ways: firstly, by the cultural awareness of the sewage that inundated the

from the Pietist movement in Germany. Alexander Mack, a miller who had been influenced by
both Pietism and Anabaptism, organized the first congregation in the town of Schwarzenau,
Germany in 1708. Though the early Brethren shared many beliefs with other Protestants, issuers
which separated them from the state churches included discipleship and obedience, reinstitution of

the Church of the Brethren in 1908. From the Church of Brethren there have been separations into
the Seventh day Baptists, German Baptists, Church of God, Old German Baptist Brethren, and the
Brethren Church. The local churches are united by an annual conference that elects a general board
to supervise the national church program. During the 20th century the focus areas of Church of the
Brethren have included educating its young people by developing Sunday schools, camping and
youth programs; strengthening its emphasis on service, foreign and home missions, and
peacemaking; increasing its ecumenical involvement; and developing a new denominational

The Science Of A Memory
Memory is something that is essential to our daily lives. Creating and retrieving memories is
something that happens without us knowing; subconscious remembrance of events allows us to
remember our friend s name, a favorite baseball or football team, or what city we live in without
needing to ask others or consult the internet. Even if we were to ask others a question about
something, without memorywe would forget the answer to the question we had asked
immediately after they had told us, which would be quite a confusing and annoying situation for
both parties involved. Without memory, we would have no concept of what is the past and what
is the future, which would lead to a very different perception of reality than what we are used to.
It should be noted; however, that there is a definite science for memory. As previously mentioned,
memories can be encoded subconsciously (without our awareness), and also consciously. This
paper will focus on the science of increasing the effectiveness of conscious memory, that is,
memory that we intentionally try to encode into our minds with the purpose of a later retrieval.
The main idea from Chapter 6 Tips from the Science of Memory for Studying and for Life is that
people at the individual level need to optimize memorization techniques that best work for
themselves. According to the textbook, the most effective way to memorize, regardless of memory
model, is by thinking deeply about the material of life and connecting the

these have always occurred, yet they were not spoken about. The main reason being, the harassment

of these qualities. These issues coincide with themes such as democracy, inequality, social justice,

Social Media and Sexual Objectification of Women
Today, we live in a world where women are sexually objectified almost everywhere we look.
Halloween used to be fun and all about candy and cute costumes when we were children, but as
time goes on, adult women can feel pressured to dress up as something sexy, like a sexy bunny, a
sexy doctor, or a sexy tree somehow. In the marketing world, we now see women portrayed as
body parts, only having their legs shown in ads to sell the latest designer shoe or their
inexplicably wet lips on a billboard to promote an upper lip wax. Even in television and in
movies, women are depicted as being very sexual by their actions, dialogue, and barely there
clothing. Because of an increase in social media, videos from YouTube are being rapidly shared
between friends and amongst those videos are their favorite music videos from a popular artist.
Music videos have become more and more sexually explicit and include the sexual
objectification of women like the rest of our media, no matter what the genre of music is. One
has to wonder whether or not this kind of exposure has an effect on men and their sexual beliefs.
First, lets explore what is shown in music videos today and how women and men are presented.
Music videos now show that women just don t ever say no to sex and don t have a preference in
men. They will take whoever, whenever. On the off chance they do resist, they give in rather
easily, adding to our rape culture and the belief that no really means yes . Women are also portrayed

According to Willoughby (2014), the community media and publishing media are two of the
most important types of the social media nowadays. The community media focusses upon the
interaction between users. The community media is such as Facebook. By contrast, publish
media, such as Youtube and Instagram, emphasizes the sharing of different media format, like
video and picture. The social features come second to the content sharing. As the marketing
campaign of share a Coke is in interest, it is essential for the brand of Coca Cola to choose the
right categories of social media. From the argument by Evans (2012). Indeed, as the campaign of
share a Coke aims to creates conversation and attention among the customers, the social media has
a direct bearing on the efficiency of the marketing campaign. As Grimes (2013) wrote, share a

Thus, superannuation balances are illiquid and unmarketable assets with a long term to maturity.
Employees cannot, in general, engage in portfolio readjustment because of the lack of portability of
accumulated balances. The current system incorporates a number of aspects of compulsion: (i)
compulsory deductions from income under award superannuation; (ii) compulsory deductions from
income under the SG; (iii) compulsory deductions from income under occupational superannuation

a fund manager whose investment decisions may not accord with the contributor s preferences;
and (v) compulsory retention of accumulated balances in a particular fund which may not accord
with a contributor s overall portfolio preferences. 3. Welfare Losses from Compulsion in

This is because many diseases are caused by infection through skin. Therefore, I emphasized
much on my own personal hygiene. For instance, I always do hand washing and showering with

Rosie s Research Paper
Ice cream, a simple luxury acquainted with memories of joy, family, and summer heat, can be
found just about anywhere in the United States, but nothing compares to the deliciousness that
is a hand scooped cone in a homemade waffle cone purchased at a local ice cream parlor. This
ideal is something that Craig Moore and Kathy Ortiz full heartedly embraced on their journey to
becoming a successful business in small town Sand Lake, Michigan. Now it s no secret that,
while it receives a high amount of traffic, Sand Lake isn t a very well known or popular town, but
Rosie s still manages to attract attention from many locals and passerbys in the area. Many of the

For the past 35 years, the building that became Rosie s has been located in Sand Lake,
Michigan; its address is 34 W. Lake St., Sand Lake, MI 49343. The company began in the early
1980s as The Cone Zone, owned by Barb and Jim Younglove. They owned for around 20 or 25
years before selling it in 2005. The next owners were Chris and Helen Collins, and they called
their shop JoJo s Cone Zone, not straying far from the original title. The Collins owned it for the
next 5 years before selling the company once again to the current owners. From 2010 to present
day, the company has been known as Rosie s Ice Cream and More (Moore). Rosie s is open
from April until September every year; in the spring, hours run from 2:30pm 8:30pm, and in the
summer, Rosie s is open from 12pm 10pm. The company most definitely lives up to the name
Rosie s Ice Cream More, especially the more part; the parlor offers ice cream, slushes, popsicles,
and food. Its ice cream consists of soft serve, Dole whip, hand dip, sundaes, shakes, and flurries,
and the food it serves included hot dogs, brats, burgers, french fries, onion rings, and more. Aside
from the items on the menu, Rosie s also specializes in its customer service; the owners are
extremely caring about the shop, the employees, and the customers, and the employees are
respectful and kind towards any and every customer. Despite the fact that Rosie s is not very large,

Similarities Between Clowning Around And All The Different...
We have our own problems today, but nothing compared to the alternate realities that the authors
here have created. Although these are great stories, only one of the finalists can be better. The
stories Clowning Around and All the Different Kinds of Rats are the same in the sense that they
have similar messages. These two pieces of literature have their respective similarities and
differences, but the big topic here is a problem. Firstly, the similarities between the two pieces.
The message of unity or lack thereof is portrayed in both pieces. Passages like The people then
started to divide themselves or What set them apart was mostly age, which they were able to
overcome show how important unity can be, or how weak a lack of cooperation is.... Show more

The story Clowning Around is told in a broad, third person viewpoint. The story takes place in a
prolonged amount of time in 745 words, but there are quick transitions and quick elevation of
tension, but there is a sense of graduality that works out in the authors favor. The story jumps
from the sun rising to the as the people wake up multiple times. All the Different Kinds of Rats,
however, has a specific third person perspective and a small time frame. Only one day in 737
words, but the detail from the newspapers and gum to a diminutive mattress this story isn t entirely
pure story or action, but provides more background and context. Lastly, the actual situations of the
two stories are completely different, but I think that the way that Clowning Around represents
reality is quite brilliant, and the social commentary of what can happen is so genius that you need
to read between the lines to notice it. All the Different Kinds of Rats, on the other hand, is a story
about two poor brothers struggling through everyday life, and while this does convey a deeper
message, it doesn t feel like the author made any comment on a relevant

Causes Of The 2008 Financial Crisis
The year 2008 was a horrendous year for most, in terms of money. The housing bubble deflated
and the steep drop in prices sent both institutional investors and average investors into financial
turmoil. There is quite a bit of controversy as what actually caused the housing bubble, but in this
essay we will be using the explanation given by John C. Coffee Jr. Here he identified various
factors that worked in tandem to subsequently cause the financial crisisof 2008. The first was the
systematic failure by what he termed a gatekeeper. Which he later defines as financial institutions
that provides verification for investors. In this instance the gatekeeper was the credit agencies who
failed to appraise the actual value of the mortgaged backed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To begin with, the industry must ever vigilant of the issues of asymmetric information. While there
is no doubt that mortgages brokers did disclose the terms of their loans whether fixed or adjustable;
foreclosure and transparency may not always be synonymous. To say you have disclosed financial
information in a voluminous document written in esoteric financial jargon doesn t constitute
financial transparency. In addition, by the end of the mortgage crisis much of what would be
constituted of due diligence constituted only a credit check. Although consumer credit
behavior can forecast a lot; it doesn t necessarily give a holistic assessment of risk with the
borrower. Another layer that added to this complex financial meltdown involves the bundling of
mortgages securities graded according a uniform fashion, yet deriving its value from the
underlying security (i.e. property on the borrower). This lead to the bundling of assets that cross
contaminated one another and created a toxic environment for investing. Finally, we must ask
ourselves if bailing out large financial institutions that chose to take risk was a feasible solution.
I personally would have liked to have seen a solution similar to that which was implemented
under the Regan administration to resolve the S L crisis in 1980s. As a policy maker my
approach would have been as follows: my first objective would have been to stabilize the real
estate market instead of providing an enormous pool of liquidity to bail out investors, I would
have targeted homeowners directly. Homeowners would have been able to get a third party
appraisal from which to reset their loans. The government would have paid off their loan and
refinanced at the new market value at a fixed rate, with the understanding that a capital gain tax of
10% would be applied to any equity beyond the new value at which the property was

Argument Against Conscription In Australia
Conscription was a highly divisive issue in the newly formed country of Australia for multiple
reasons. These include the fact that there were many pros and cons to the issue, two plebiscites
had been rejected by the public and that the public had very split views on the subject (The
Australian War memorial, 2018). It is unlikely that people today will ever be able to come to a
conclusion as to whether or not conscriptionwas a good idea for Australia and its people as the
effectiveness of war is still a highly debated subject in the modern world. It can be hypothesised
that conscription was a highly divisive issue due to Australians split views on the subject.

During the two plebiscites, posters advertising the negatives of conscription were abundant. Most
of the posters contained words such as death and blood (see fig 6 and fig 7). This highlighted the
consequences of conscription, particularly of the death toll. Furthermore, the use of small children
was used to appeal to emotion, and give people a visual of the toll that conscription would take on
those who stayed (see fig 8). Overall, those against conscription used propaganda posters to
advertise their cause, much like those who were for

Nursing Constraints
Constraints are anything that limit or discourage certain movements at the same time they permit
or encourage other movements or shape the movement(s). 1 In light of that, when assessing the
constraints that may exist for this female patient there are three constraints that she will encounter:
individual constraints, environmental constraints, and task constraints. First, the individual
constraints exist within the patient herself (her own body). These constraints are related to her
structure (anatomical physiology, i.e. her height, weight, muscle mass, body size, etc.) and her
function (her behavior, attention, motivation). These constraints are all dependent on the patient
herself and how she is able to operate. In this case the patient has some stability and weakness
issues of the ankle joint of the involved limb. This will present a problem because she feels her
ankle giving way when she plays sports. This means her ankle muscles are weakened and unable
to support her body weight while running, jumping, and sharp agility movements when playing
volleyball, making her prone to re injury. If she re injures her ankle again she may face functional
constraints in being sad or depressed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some environmental constraints that she may have to overcome are sociocultural in that she is
competitive and wants to be the best player on the team and/or wants to be the best team amongst
the team s competition. Another constraint is the slick surface of the volleyball court that presents
a fall risk when running and jumping on the court. If the lighting is too bright or not bright enough,
if the crowd is too distracting, or if the weather is bad and causes a delay, all these will present as
environmental constraints for her when playing

Malaysia And Singapore Bonds
Malaysia and Singapore bonds are unique and idiosyncratic due to factors such as geography,
history, politics, culture and ethnicity.1They are substantial trading partner and their bilateral trade
amounted to S$113.4 billion in 2012, up from S$77.2 billion in 2003. The island s investment into
Malaysia has climbed about 25 percent annually over the past three years, according to DBS Group
Holdings Ltd.2This increase in trade makes quintessential the need to enhance economic linkages
between the two countries and the High Speed Rail (HSR) project presented an opportunity to open
up and rejuvenate smaller cities in Peninsular Malaysiaby connecting them to the two major
metropolises. The HSR is an efficient and safe mode of transport which results in dramatic
travel time savings. We will firstly analyse the cost and benefits of the HSR and we will try to
discuss if the value of the project outweigh the MYR 40 billion construction cost. Traffic between
the two countries through the Causeway and Second Link is estimated at 400,000 crossings both
ways daily, and Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore figures show that an average of 7,500 people
left Singapore for Malaysia daily by air last year, of which, say experts, about 6,000 were headed to
Kuala Lumpur.3 This will mean that an extra 100000 commuters will be able to travel in both
direction daily. The economic and social benefits derived from the agglomeration of 2 cities bring

International Adoption Analysis
Differing Viewpoints
The process of International Adoption raises passionate emotions and arguments on different
factors involving the process. Although organizations and groups are present in support of mainly
the proponent side, some are swayed by policies involved. Bethany Christian Services believes in
performing international adoptions as long as they follow the U.S policy involving court s consent
and the foreign countries policy. Whereas UNICEF will only perform international adoptions if the
process is done through the Hague Convention.
One group that clearly represents the common mission of International Adoption is Bethany
Christian Services (BCS). Through their ministries they aid to foreign children in over eighty
locations (www.buildingyourfamily.com, 1998 2016). With their large amount of locations they are
able to reach children and families all over the country, not only physically but emotionally as well.
Bethany Christian Services states, We feel it is our job to provide ministries for orphans and
vulnerable children (www.buildingyourfamily.com, 1998 2016). Because of their stance, they have
taken many actions towards this law. Those actions being: providing ministry, adoption services,

to this success. Henry Ford was born in GreenField Township, Michigan on July 30th, 1863. He is

Example Of Transcendentalism In Peanuts
Peanuts is a comic strip that ran from the 1950 s to the 2000 s. It s focused around a depressed
and meek boy named Charlie Brown. The comics tell the story of him, his friends, and all of their
adventures. While the comic strip ended in the 2000 s the world of Charlie Brown still lives on to
this day. Around 120 years before the world of Charlie Brown, the philosophical movement of
transcendentalism appeared. It emphasized the spirit and one s own individuality. Even though it
came out a significant amount of time in the past, transcendentalism is still apparent in the modern
world. Peanutsis a modern day example of transcendentalism in the way it represents character s
own confidence and free thought. One of the characteristics of transcendentalism is confidence.
A character in Peanuts who is a prime example of confidence is Lucy Van Pelt. For instance, in
one of the comics written by Charles Schulz, when Lucy says that she has a knack for seeing
other people s faults, Linus asks her about her own faults she responds that she has a knack for
overlooking them and then when Charlie Brown says to Lucy, Sometimes you really astound
me. I ve never known anyone who was so consistently crabby! How do you explain that? she
answers, Never change a winning game! Lucy is a very sarcastic character and she stands by the
way that she goes about life. She has an amazing amount of self confidence and she doesn t let
anyone else get to her because she believes strongly in her actions. She s a strong example of
confidence in transcendentalism because of how much she believes in herself and stands by her
actions. Also, in A Charlie Brown Christmasthe story revolves around the idea that Charlie Brown
doesn t believe that the over commercialized Christmas that they all celebrate is the real meaning
of Christmas. Then when he s asked to go get a big and over the top Christmas tree for the play,
he grabs a small and neglected tree because he sees the potential in it and he feels like it s his job
to give it a home. When all of his friends make fun of him and tell him that he s stupid he gets
depressed, but he doesn t lose his confidence that that isn t what Christmas is all about. After Linus
reads a passage of the bible

Mammy Archetype
All African Americans have been portrayed in stereotypical roles since their arrival into American
society for the entertainment and amusement of others. Many people find it difficult to appreciate
the diversity of the African American women. So instead of trying to do this, they create identities
based on negative stereotypes. There are several negative stereotypes associated with the African
Americanwoman. The Mammy archetype is the one chosen to be analyzed in this essay. Collins
described the mammy as the faithful, obedient domestic servant. Created to justify the economic
exploitation of house slaves and sustained to explain Black women s long standing restriction to
domestic service... (72) She is commonly seen trying to soothe... Show more content on

Mammy is also seen as a very loyal and faithful woman to the one she cares for, but still not
respected.
Like the traditional mammy figure, the modern day mammy is almost always large, asexual, and
wise. One factor that might separate the modern day mammy from the traditional mammy is that
the modern day mammy seems to have a little more attitude or sass. She also comes in many
different skin tones, but still not light skin.
Mabel Madea Simmons is a fictional character created and played by Tyler Perryhimself. The
character is a tough elderly black woman. Madea gets even, mostly in a bad way. Madea is also
highly overreactive. She is seen willingly threatening the use of deadly weapons, destroying
property, using physical violence, and she loves to take on the law. Because of her overreactive
ways, Madea has repeatedly landed herself in court, anger management classes, house arrest, and
even prison.
Despite some of the negative traits that she does possess, Madea does exhibit the traits of the
Mammy such as: being a nurturer, a caregiver, and a protector, while also maintaining the basic
appearance of a Mammy. Historically, Mammy was shown to have extreme loyalty to the white
family that she cared for and showed devotion towards them while not showing a lot of attention
to her own family, if she even had one at all. Madea does this but in her own way. She has the
same loyalty and dedication but hers is

  • 2. An Analysis Of Mccarthyism By Senator Joseph Mccarthy You wear boots? You re a communist. You walk straight? You re a communist. You winked at me? You re a communist. These are examples of saying that might be said by Senator Joseph McCarthy during the 1950 s when McCarthyism was going on. There are many ways that Joseph McCarthy does not meet the responsibilities of a U.S. senator because he doesn t effectively represent the people that voted for him, be truthful toward thoughts, or have positive attitudes toward people especially the people that criticize him. Some responsibilities of a U.S. Senator are writing and passing laws, ratifying treaties with other countries, and representing the people that elected them. • 3. Depression In William Wordsworth I have been seeing three new patients recently, all Romantic poets who appear to be suffering from various levels of melancholy. Although each one of these poets is highly successful and influential in the Romantic Movement, each has experienced bouts of dejection, loneliness, and disillusionment with reality. However, this melancholy seems different from cases I have encountered in the past. Strangely, none of these clients show symptoms of the excessive black bile that typically associated with melancholy such as apathy, lack of motivation, and hopelessness (Brady, Haapala). In fact, while all of these clients experience melancholic thoughts, these emotions appear to be more complex than depression as they allow the pleasures of deep reflection and often lead to feelings of sublime joy and inspiration. Instead of suffering from a clinical form of melancholy or depression, these clients appear to be experiencing a complex emotion of joypain which they believe has the capacity to reveal the infinite powers of the self or the imagination (Murray, 722). Yet, while all of these poets seem to believe in the importance of melancholy as inspiration for their work, each of these poets also seems to express this emotion in different ways. While one of these poets, Mr. William Wordsworth , often turns his negative ruminations into positive reflections on nature and memory, Mr. Coleridge instead experiences deeper melancholic moments that he cannot dispel quite so easily. Mr. John ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Taking a Look at Mental Illnesses Mental illnesses are a serious matter that affect a person as much as someone with a physical illness. Mental illnesses are medical conditions that affect a person s mental health. They are as serious as other disorders such as diabetes and should be treated as so. The amount of talk by those who aren t well informed and often assume has created many misconceptions about mental illnesses. In order to successfully make those around people with mental illnesses to be aware of the harm these disorders cause a person these misconceptions need to be cleared. Mental illnesses need to be treated like the threat they indeed are like real illnesses. Mental illnesses are conditions in which a person s mental health is affected to a point that they aren t able to cope with life s expectations. An example is a common known disorder known as depression, when someone experiences depression they may feel like they no longer want to thrive and be happy in their life. This happens due to the amount of brain activity the disorder causes to diminish. According to www.nimh.nih.gov when a person has depression he or she may expirience being very tired, a loss of interest in activites once enjoyed, and thoughts or attemp of suicide. Depression is caused by a couple of factors are genes and brain chemistry which is irregular to normal people. • 7. My Breaching Social Norm Experiment For my breaching social norm experiment, I was determined to do something I would never do even if it was a dare, especially since my ability to interact with strangers is not what I consider advanced. So, I decided to make people feel uncomfortable by holding their hand. What I would do is walk up to the person from behind and slowly make my way to their handto make them feel even more uncomfortable. People normally hold hands with their significant other, or with someone they know, like a friend or family member, so to be holding hands with a stranger is infrequent and abnormal. In preparation for starting our experiment, it took my confidant, Carla, and I about an hour to finally initiate the first move. Before even holding hands with strangers my mind was swirling with multiple questions and thoughts, like Why am I even doing this? , I don t appreciate making people feel uncomfortable. , Why is Mrs.Henry torturing me! , Can I just not do it? , and so on. In addition to my thoughts and questions, I felt myself sweating and my stomach felt as if it was in a twisted knot. While I approached my first victim I felt the temperature of my body raise up to boiling point and the color of my skin turn from snow white to lava red in a split second. To make things worse, once I held onto the lady s hand, she was gripping onto mine and was holding on tight, and my reaction was to laugh because when you are in an uncomfortable situation you honestly don t know how to ... • 8. The Theory Of Multiple Intelligences Theory What is intelligence? Is it how well an individual can excel at academic tasks, emotional tasks, or physical tasks? Can intelligence be measure scientifically and accurately or is it an abstract idea or concept that requires an individual to critically think and come up with an answer? A common interpretation of intelligenceis the ability or abilities of an individual s capacity for: logic, emotion, abstract, learning, planning, understanding, memory, self awareness, creativity, and most important of all is the ability to problem solved. Intelligence itself is an umbrella with subtypes under it, and the one to inquire about is the theory of multiple intelligences. Many scientists believe that this theory does not exist because it cannot be proven scientifically but multiple intelligence theory does exist. Multiple intelligences is not a teaching style as many seem to believe, but it is a new way to look at the IQ of an individual while not being bounded by the traditional IQ tests. Just like general intelligences theory, the multiple intelligence theory can be used to distinguish intelligences through tests, logically define theory, as well as real world experiences and applications. These two theories, multiple and general intelligence, has been debated time and time again in the field of psychology but with no absolute solution. The theory of multiple intelligences was originated by Howard E. Gardner and was publicized in 1983 in his book, Frames of Mind: The Theory of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Comparison 60 Minutes Analysis This stark contrast of Thomasson s interview on 60 Minutes is apparent when you compare both of them. Two individuals had such different outlooks on the same idea and also voiced it on the same media channel. What made this interaction so critical was the mystery and vagueness surrounding this hot button issue. It allowed for a stage of colliding ideas that aren t always valid but it allowed for competing views to obtain exposure. Since being seen is not the same thing as being known which can create gaps or voids within their image. LGBTQ activists created a way to counteract the negative media circling them during this time period from conservative group. They created Logo, a U.S. network that launched in 2005 which was broadcasted on MTV. This was an explicitly lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender channel, has been implementing a rebranding strategy that it labels gaystreaming . Logo s rebranding, gaystreaming is strikingly devoid of negative connotations to promote a greater positive image of LGBTQ individuals in America. It currently encapsulates a range of related, but distinct meanings to do with going beyond what gay content traditionally connotes in terms of people or characters, storylines, and entire genres of entertainment. • 10. The House Of Mirth And The Awakening Essay While feminist ideologies in both The House of Mirth and The Awakening are quite controversial and maybe to some nonexistent, it is quite evident that there are these two women who want to fight against their societal norms and patriarchal society. Lily Bart from House of Mirth tries to manipulate societal norms in order to achieve success, and Edna Pontellier from The Awakening actively tries to become and independent woman. In the end, I think they both succeed in becoming independent women and ideal feminists because of how they fight against their societies. Even though both Edna and Lily are suppressed by their society, they not only use their knowledge of society to fight against it, but they prove in the end of both novels that they are truly independent women and can be just as free willed as the men. Both Edna Pontellier and Lily Bart understand what society expects of them, and they use that knowledge later to manipulate conventional societal norms to try to become individuals. Albeit, it does not end ideally for them, but throughout both The Awakening and The House of Mirth Edna and Lily fight the suppressive nature of their societies. Edna is different from Lily in this sense, however, because Edna eventually actively rejects the ideal mother woman. When the novel first begins, we get a glimpse of what Edna was like when she was younger, which continues during her marriage to Mr. Pontellier. Knowing what she was like earlier on in her life shows how she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A systems viewpoint includes four parts Inputs, Transformation processes, Output and Feedback which all are important in a company. In the article Boeing especially displayed all systems to become a better company. Throughout this paper I will be discussing how Boeing Company tries to get their company back in order, starting with management involvement, suppliers and elaborating how management methods plays a role in a company s outcome. After reading the WSJ Boeing 787 article I was able to get a better understanding of what was going good and bad within the company. Boeing is an overall good company but they were having difficulties producing enough jets along with supplies coming in on time. Vaupell Holdings Inc. Supplier of Boeing is in need of change in their system. Boeing has become more involved as a company sending engineers to examine products for planes and jets. In my opinion Boeing as a company is showing Quality control minimizing errors by managing each stage of production which calls for engineers to examine supplies before they carry forward with making planes. Boeing is trying to change the past and prove themselves to the world they can also keep up. Boeing has won a series of contracts hope to make 300 more jets a year with their new plan. A land surrounded by borders both physical and geographical, borders that are made of steel and stone, water and trees. Since the beginning of this great nation as we know it, there have been border security check points in place to include port security. As time and events have occurred and elapsed, America s borders have evolved. Significant events such as the attack on Pearl Harbor and the terrorist attacks of 9/11 have forced the United StatesGovernment to increase and adapt to evolving threats while simultaneously combating the rush of illegal entry and smuggling. Billions of dollars have been spent over the past twenty years in conjunction with Homeland security operations and initiatives to button down the borders of the United States. No matter how much money and resources are poured into securing our borders one thing will occur always...Smuggling. • 13. Syntax In Scarlet Letter D.H. Lawrence provides an effective critical analysis of Hester Prynne from Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel, The Scarlet Letter. He criticizes Hawthorne s portrayal of the story s protagonist, which negatively affects the way readers view her. Lawrence s writing targets Prynne as a seductive woman with vile intentions. D.H. Lawrence s critical analysis is effective because he uses literary devices such as succinct syntax, a sarcastic tone, and biblical allusions in his analysis of Hester Prynne. Lawrence s succinct syntax is effective in making rapid, direct jabs at Hawthorne s characterization of Hester Prynne. For instance, Lawrence strengthens his argument by saying, The fiery heart. A. Mary of the Bleeding Heart. Mater Adoleratal A. Capital A. Adulteress. Glittering with gold thread. Abel! Adultery. Admirable! (Lawrence). Lawrence s purpose with this syntax is to capture the reader s attention with the organization of the words. He executes this effectively because each phrase in the list holds a deeper significance that relates them to Hester Prynne. Additionally, Lawrence utilizes repetition in his syntax: Adulteress. Alpha. Abel, Adam. A. America (Lawrence). The alliteration of the letter A is significant because he addresses possible alternative meanings for the scarlet letter. These words are insults to the character of Hester Prynne and they are effective because they make the reader have to search for hidden meanings. For example, the word Abel is a biblical ... Restrictions On Law Enforcement Pros And Cons The USA Patriot Act was signed into law on Oct. 26, 2001, citing the need for more cooperation among all levels of security, along with broader powers for law enforcement personnel. Police and other departments were given wider preemptive authority and encouraged to share information. The goal: a safer America in times of international turmoil. But as the years have passed and the terrorist attacks seem further away, people have begun to question whether too many restrictions on law enforcement were rolled back. Recent news that President Bush has authorized the wiretapping of some phone calls in the United States without court orders upset many. In an era of both freedom and confinement, Simon Wiesenthal describes his experience of the Holocaust, which is used to analyze, what it means to be human. After World War One (WWI), the Germans lost, Hitler assumed authority and began to blame the Jews for what happened in WWI (Bingle). Within a few months, Germans started to believe Hitler that they were the master race or supermen, and had no trouble committing genocide of any group Hitler labeled as bad or subhuman . The Sunflower, address the nature and task of human but also gives a Jewish perspective of Humanness . Wiesenthal asks, Were we truly all made of the same stud? If so, why were some murderers and other victims? Was there in fact any personal relationship between us, between the murderers and their victims, between our camp commandant, Wilhaus, and a tortured Jews (Wiesenthal 7)? Nationalism is key characteristic in the 20th century and Germany was the primary country to demonstrate this, with National Socialism. Germans showed their patriotism and loyalty to their country and fellow citizens. National Socialism affected many Germans... [it] was for them the fulfillment of their dearest wishes. Off premise planning becomes more complicated as the components that make up the storage network are generally in the control of the cloud provider. It becomes critical to maintain the integrity and security of the data, while still offering a seamless storage solution to the business. The business user does not care where the data is located, or where an application is hosted. It must be available as needed, with little to no noticeable performance degradation. It is bad enough when the local, business network becomes unavailable, but if the Internet link goes offline, it may take longer to resolve as the provider s network engineers are generally responsible for getting it back online. It is often difficult to create hybrid systems that integrate with on premise and off premise systems, and storage. There may be business reasons why there is a need for a hybrid solution, and the cost and complexity of integrating storage and server systems may not be advantageous to the organization despite the benefits. Data integrity and security is an additional risk, and one that should not be taken lightly. The fact is, the cloud service has company data. While it is true that there are likely contracts and security measures in place to provide assurance that the data integrity and security will remained unchanged, high profile providers are excellent candidates for threat actors. Despite this, there are benefits as well. The high profile companies likely invest far more in security measures than most companies would be willing to do. This offloads the security requirements to the provider, while allowing the organization to benefit from the high availability, cost reduction, and increased efficiency of cloud services (Weintraub Cohen, 2016). Uses of Hypnotherapy to Treat a Medical Condition Uses of Hypnotherapy to treat a medical condition Introduction The purpose of this essay is to describe and explain the uses of hypnotherapy in the treatment of a medical condition. For this essay I have chosen to look at a chronic life limiting illness called Motor Neurone Disease. This is a disease that can affect many different aspects of a person s life and is very aggressive in its symptoms. I have met quite a few people with this condition whilst working in the Neurophysiology department at the QMC, where all the nerve and muscles studies and EMG s are performed. PBP can also affect the expression of emotions and people might laugh or cry for no apparent reason. Primary lateral sclerosis is a very rare form of MND in which people experience spasticity but do not experience muscle wasting or fasciculation s. The researcher chose Bangladesh due to the following reason. Recently, I have worked with the Red Cross refugee program. We have a volunteer who used to be a refugee from Bangladesh. After a difficult time setting up her life, Habiba, now, enjoys her life in NZ and would like to help other refugees. Her story inspired me to do the study about Bangladesh culture. Discussion and Analysis The five cultural dimensions of Bangladesh will be discussed in this report. Each dimension includes three questions. The researcher recorded the answers of the volunteer and analysed them in order to evaluate the cultural values of Bangladesh. These results are compared with Hofstede s theory to have a true and fair view about this culture. 1.Individualism vs Collectivism This dimension determines the culture in the term of I or we . Individualism prefers to the society in which individuals only take care of themselves and their immediate family. In contrast, collectivism prefers to the the society in which people integrate and share good relationships in groups, and expect the unquestioning loyalty. (Hofstede, 1991). • 22. Introduction Of A Primary Alcohol Substitution 5. Introduction In this experiment, a primary alcohol was converted into a primary bromoalkane using hydrobromic acid. The reaction was done under reflux and then distilled to obtain a product of higher purity. The degree of the alkyl halide obtained from the experiment was tested with silver nitrate and sodium iodide. An infrared (IR) spectra and the weight of the product were obtained for further analysis. The IR gave information on the present functional groups and product weight was used to calculate the percent yield. 6. Data and Results The product obtained after reflux was a yellow liquid. With the halide tests, the product reacted faster with sodium iodide to form a precipitate than with silver nitrate. This indicates that the degree of the product was primary and that bromine did replace the alcohol group. The IR of the product showed four peaks at 3326.36, 2932.86, 1465.34, and 1028.73. These peaks indicate O H, C H, C H3, and C O bonds, respectively, within the product. 2.032 grams of product were recovered from the reaction. With this, a percent yield of 27.14% was calculated. 7. Discussion and Conclusion Nucleophilic aliphatic substitution is the replacement of one group for another at a saturated, sp3 hybridized carbon atom. This process is often used to interconvert functional groups, such as in the preparation of alkyl halides. Over the years, Australia has managed to develop an international reputation for sporting excellence through its national team performances and the expansion of its sports systems (Daly, 1991; ASC, 1998; Shilbury Kellett, 2011). The country has managed to host some of the greatest sporting events, notably the Olympic games, the Rugby World Cup, the Cricket World Cup, with aspirations to bring the Football (soccer) World Cup to Australia in 2018 (ASC, 2011). International sporting events of this scale are capable of generating considerable revenue for its sport industry, as well as the country s economy (i.e. tourism). The Australian sport industry has become a multi billion dollar enterprise (ABS, 2013), and the role of sport management has been intensified as a result of this. Australian Sport Systems Government Systems The support of government for sport has been increasing over the last thirty years, and is now on the political agenda of the Australian government (Shilbury Kellett, 2011). As Australian sport and its industry began to grow and develop further and further, sport programs were introduced in the sport system, notably the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Although bodily humour possesses a somewhat foul reputation, it appears amongst the works of the greatest and most sophisticated minds in literary canon to include the Bard himself. Although Peter Smith notes that Victorian literature seems to shy away from this obscenity, it nonetheless provides examples of the lewd, and Father Thames Introducing his Offspring to the Fair City of Londonoffers this vulgarity in spades (12 13). In 1858, the periodical Punch published the above image in response to three primary factors: firstly, the era during which the river Thamesfaced severe pollution and emitted a horrendous odor, known as the Great Stink; secondly, an outbreak of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Exemplifying this humourous reduction of status, Cholera thusly produces quite the comedic figure, with its hunched physicality and the expression of anguish upon its face; of course, owing to the disease which it represents, its visage and posture inherently call to mind an image of the coprological, and therefore of the gleefully disgusting body. In addition to the depiction of Cholera, the figure of Father Thames and the shaping of his body elicits a sense of the scatalogical as well; rather than possessing a humanoid form akin to the other characters in the comic, Father Thames cuts an indistinct, lumpy figure that appears to ooze humorously into the water around him. It seems that the artist intended to evoke an image rather more distasteful than an anthropomorphized river, and in doing so beckoned our sense of superiority not only by trivializing the figure of Father Thames, but by dehumanizing him. In his book On Humour, Simon Critchley emphasizes the particular comedy of invoking this unsavoury subhumanity, writing, the body returns in laughter in the form of an eruptive, animal physicality (Critchley 46 47). The largest branch after the schism was the German Baptist Brethren, who changed their name to the Church of the Brethren in 1908. From the Church of Brethren there have been separations into the Seventh day Baptists, German Baptists, Church of God, Old German Baptist Brethren, and the Brethren Church. The local churches are united by an annual conference that elects a general board to supervise the national church program. During the 20th century the focus areas of Church of the Brethren have included educating its young people by developing Sunday schools, camping and youth programs; strengthening its emphasis on service, foreign and home missions, and peacemaking; increasing its ecumenical involvement; and developing a new denominational structure. Today the Church of the Brethren maintains the basic beliefs of the first Brethren and seeks to find new ways to continue the work of Jesus in the world. While the Church of the Brethren started in Germany, it has no congregations in Europe today. Instead, the denomination s congregations stretch from coast to coast across North America, with especially strong concentrations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, and Indiana. • 36. The Science Of A Memory Memory is something that is essential to our daily lives. Creating and retrieving memories is something that happens without us knowing; subconscious remembrance of events allows us to remember our friend s name, a favorite baseball or football team, or what city we live in without needing to ask others or consult the internet. Even if we were to ask others a question about something, without memorywe would forget the answer to the question we had asked immediately after they had told us, which would be quite a confusing and annoying situation for both parties involved. Without memory, we would have no concept of what is the past and what is the future, which would lead to a very different perception of reality than what we are used to. It should be noted; however, that there is a definite science for memory. As previously mentioned, memories can be encoded subconsciously (without our awareness), and also consciously. This paper will focus on the science of increasing the effectiveness of conscious memory, that is, memory that we intentionally try to encode into our minds with the purpose of a later retrieval. The main idea from Chapter 6 Tips from the Science of Memory for Studying and for Life is that people at the individual level need to optimize memorization techniques that best work for themselves. According to the textbook, the most effective way to memorize, regardless of memory model, is by thinking deeply about the material of life and connecting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Halloween used to be fun and all about candy and cute costumes when we were children, but as time goes on, adult women can feel pressured to dress up as something sexy, like a sexy bunny, a sexy doctor, or a sexy tree somehow. In the marketing world, we now see women portrayed as body parts, only having their legs shown in ads to sell the latest designer shoe or their inexplicably wet lips on a billboard to promote an upper lip wax. Even in television and in movies, women are depicted as being very sexual by their actions, dialogue, and barely there clothing. Because of an increase in social media, videos from YouTube are being rapidly shared between friends and amongst those videos are their favorite music videos from a popular artist. Music videos have become more and more sexually explicit and include the sexual objectification of women like the rest of our media, no matter what the genre of music is. One has to wonder whether or not this kind of exposure has an effect on men and their sexual beliefs. First, lets explore what is shown in music videos today and how women and men are presented. There is quite a bit of controversy as what actually caused the housing bubble, but in this essay we will be using the explanation given by John C. While there is no doubt that mortgages brokers did disclose the terms of their loans whether fixed or adjustable; foreclosure and transparency may not always be synonymous. To say you have disclosed financial information in a voluminous document written in esoteric financial jargon doesn t constitute financial transparency. In addition, by the end of the mortgage crisis much of what would be constituted of due diligence constituted only a credit check. Although consumer credit behavior can forecast a lot; it doesn t necessarily give a holistic assessment of risk with the borrower. Another layer that added to this complex financial meltdown involves the bundling of mortgages securities graded according a uniform fashion, yet deriving its value from the underlying security (i.e. property on the borrower). This lead to the bundling of assets that cross contaminated one another and created a toxic environment for investing. Finally, we must ask ourselves if bailing out large financial institutions that chose to take risk was a feasible solution. I personally would have liked to have seen a solution similar to that which was implemented under the Regan administration to resolve the S L crisis in 1980s. As a policy maker my approach would have been as follows: my first objective would have been to stabilize the real estate market instead of providing an enormous pool of liquidity to bail out investors, I would have targeted homeowners directly. Homeowners would have been able to get a third party appraisal from which to reset their loans. The government would have paid off their loan and refinanced at the new market value at a fixed rate, with the understanding that a capital gain tax of 10% would be applied to any equity beyond the new value at which the property was ... First, the individual constraints exist within the patient herself (her own body). These constraints are related to her structure (anatomical physiology, i.e. her height, weight, muscle mass, body size, etc.) and her function (her behavior, attention, motivation). • 56. Example Of Transcendentalism In Peanuts Peanuts is a comic strip that ran from the 1950 s to the 2000 s. It s focused around a depressed and meek boy named Charlie Brown. The comics tell the story of him, his friends, and all of their adventures. While the comic strip ended in the 2000 s the world of Charlie Brown still lives on to this day. Around 120 years before the world of Charlie Brown, the philosophical movement of transcendentalism appeared. It emphasized the spirit and one s own individuality. Even though it came out a significant amount of time in the past, transcendentalism is still apparent in the modern world. Peanutsis a modern day example of transcendentalism in the way it represents character s own confidence and free thought. One of the characteristics of transcendentalism is confidence. A character in Peanuts who is a prime example of confidence is Lucy Van Pelt. For instance, in one of the comics written by Charles Schulz, when Lucy says that she has a knack for seeing other people s faults, Linus asks her about her own faults she responds that she has a knack for overlooking them and then when Charlie Brown says to Lucy, Sometimes you really astound me. I ve never known anyone who was so consistently crabby! How do you explain that? she answers, Never change a winning game! Lucy is a very sarcastic character and she stands by the way that she goes about life. She has an amazing amount of self confidence and she doesn t let anyone else get to her because she believes strongly in her actions. She s a strong example of confidence in transcendentalism because of how much she believes in herself and stands by her actions. Also, in A Charlie Brown Christmasthe story revolves around the idea that Charlie Brown doesn t believe that the over commercialized Christmas that they all celebrate is the real meaning of Christmas. Then when he s asked to go get a big and over the top Christmas tree for the play, he grabs a small and neglected tree because he sees the potential in it and he feels like it s his job to give it a home. When all of his friends make fun of him and tell him that he s stupid he gets depressed, but he doesn t lose his confidence that that isn t what Christmas is all about. Many people find it difficult to appreciate the diversity of the African American women. So instead of trying to do this, they create identities based on negative stereotypes. There are several negative stereotypes associated with the African Americanwoman. The Mammy archetype is the one chosen to be analyzed in this essay. Like the traditional mammy figure, the modern day mammy is almost always large, asexual, and wise. One factor that might separate the modern day mammy from the traditional mammy is that the modern day mammy seems to have a little more attitude or sass. She also comes in many different skin tones, but still not light skin. Mabel Madea Simmons is a fictional character created and played by Tyler Perryhimself. The character is a tough elderly black woman. Madea gets even, mostly in a bad way. Madea is also highly overreactive. She is seen willingly threatening the use of deadly weapons, destroying property, using physical violence, and she loves to take on the law. Because of her overreactive ways, Madea has repeatedly landed herself in court, anger management classes, house arrest, and even prison. Despite some of the negative traits that she does possess, Madea does exhibit the traits of the Mammy such as: being a nurturer, a caregiver, and a protector, while also maintaining the basic appearance of a Mammy. Historically, Mammy was shown to have extreme loyalty to the white family that she cared for and showed devotion towards them while not showing a lot of attention to her own family, if she even had one at all. Madea does this but in her own way. She has the same loyalty and dedication but hers is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
