Monitoring Internet Privacy
While everyone might think that clearing search history, deleting a picture or tweet might make it
disappear forever, it is not true. If the government wanted to they could monitor your internet use.
While this could be helpful it is also harmful. I do not think the government should be able to
monitor your internetuse, unless they have a reason to. While monitoring internet content does not
violate any of the amendment it is an invasion of privacy. Most young adults and teens only use the
internet as means of communicating. It does not harm anyone in any way. While most people
are using internet for good, some people may not be. There are many cases of cyber bullying that
could be going on, and adults may not know. Since cyber bullying is becoming a bigger issue as
technology advances, and certain apps come out that could be used for bullying it could be helpful
to be able to monitor internet use. So as for local governmentit makes sense that they could monitor
internet content if a problem is brought to their attention. As for federal and state goverment, they
do not need to monitor your internet use unless they have a reason to. Such as terorist websites or
threatening emails that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

monitor internet content is good happened at our school a couple years ago. A girl sent an
innapropriate picture and said picture got around. Instead of not knowing who to punish, the police
were able to check everyone’s phones to see who sent the picture out. This helped to find
whoever sent the pictures even if the message where it was sent was deleted. Another instent was
when someone who was using the schools WiFi because they lived close enough was caught

The Importance Of Roosevelt s Contribution To United...
All three of these Presidents did a lot to contribute to United States foreign policy. Roosevelt had
his Big Stick Policy, Taft had his Dollar Diplomacy, and Wilson had his Moral Diplomacy. But
which one did the most to acheive US foreign policy goals? Which one enforced the Monroe
Doctrine most effectively? Which one protected the Open Door in China? That president was
Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt strongly believed in the Monroe Doctrine; so much so that he
even added a corollary to it. The main reason he added a corollary is because in 1904, the
Dominican Republic went bankrupt, and he feared that European countries such as Germany,
would intervene forcibly, to try and collect debts. So, to prevent the nations from doing so he
created the Roosevelt Corollary. In a nutshell, the corollary said; that if any Latin American country
was in trouble (civil unrest /debt) our military would intervene. This reinforced the Big Brother
policy and made us the police of the Western Hemisphere; and made sure that if they re was
anything going awry for Latin American countries, we would be the ones to step in, not any
European countries... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taft s Dollar Diplomacy may have had good intentions by helping countries pay off their
international debt, and promoting trade in East Asia, but ultimately it failed. When Taft would try
to solve problems in Latin America by using our financial power instead of the military, everything
would just fall apart again. Woodrow Wilsondid use the Monroe Doctrine in a sense because he
did intervene in many Latin American countries, just he didn t stabilize a few of them. Look at
Mexico for example; after the authoritarian Huerta took over, he didn t recognize the government
which uncovered a whole world of new conflicts for us and Mexico. The only reason we pulled out
was because of World War

Victim Impact Role
This essay will evaluate the roles of Victim Impact Statements, the importance of understanding
both victims and offenders and to reinforce the growth and development of the criminal justice
system. It will also evaluate the dark figure of crime, the role of victims in the criminal justice
system, the positive and negative outcomes and why are victims as important in the criminal justice
system. According to Muncie (2001) crimeis increasing to be a continuous source of community
concern. Escalating levels of insecurity, the threat of public disorder, fear of violence, household
burglary, rioting, children out of control, new forms of terrorism, vandalism and growth in all

This puts into doubt the efficiency and effectiveness of the official crimes statistics. Crimes are
unreported for various reasons; some of the reasons why committed towards certain minority groups
are unreported is because of the distrust and faith in the police force, language barriers and fear of
repercussions from the offender. Certain minority groups include, ethnic people, people with
disability, woman, youth, homeless and indigenous. The Crime Victim Survey s uncovers the Dark
Figure of crime and victimisation, it acknowledges the victim and it also explains about the
limitations and strengths of recording and reporting crimes. For a crime to be recorded there are
three stages that must be delivered. The first is that a person must identify that a crime has been
committed, the offender who is committing the crime must been seen by another person. Secondly,
the police or others to whom the crime has been reported must accept that the action has been done
against the law, or that law has been broken in the act. Thirdly, the crime must be reported to the
relevant authorities either by the one who has observed the crime being committed or the person
who committed it. If one fails then the crime is unrecognized, although other members of the public
may have noticed or heard about a crime and could be

Profit and Loss
Profit and loss accounts, balance sheets
Profit and loss accounts, balance sheets
Two of the most important financial statements for a business are the Profit and Loss Account, and
the Balance Sheet.
The Profit and Loss Account shows the profit or loss of a business over a given period of time e.g. 3
months, 1 year, etc.
In contrast, the Balance Sheet is like a photograph taken at an instant in time giving a picture of
what the business owns and what the business owes at that moment in time. As we shall see it will
always balance because what the business owns is financed by what the business owes.

At the end of the credit period they will pay up in the form of cash, enabling Kraft to buy more

Creditors due within one year are the sums that a business owes money to in the short period
otherwise known as current liabilities.
Net current assets is a measure of how solvent or liquid a business is.
Many businesses need to have working capital. Working capital is calculated by subtracting current
liabilities from current assets:
Working capital = Current assets Current liabilities
Note that the figure for net current assets appear almost in the centre of a balance sheet, and is a
figure that many people will look at first to check on the solvency of a business.
Total assets current liabilities is a sum that appears in the balance sheet simply doing what the title
suggests.
Creditors due after more than one year shows the longer term liabilities of the bsiness.
Total net assets is calculated by taking away all the liabilities (both current and long term) from all
of the assets (both current and long term).
Shareholders funds shows the value of the shareholders capital in the business. It will always be the
same value as the total net assets and it balances the account.

Customer Relationships Using Organisation Of My Choice
Introduction
I have been asked to write a report that explains how the company seeks to deliver customer value
and how it seeks to develop customer relationships using organisation of my choice. The
organisation I have chosen is Waitrose.
Waitrose first appeared by Arthur Rose, Wallace Waite and David Taylor when they opened
their first little grocery shop in 1904. The business was success as they were selling range of
grocery products. The business had a high standards and keen pricing to ensure that the business
grew. After 2 years Taylor left the business leaving Waite and Rose who formed Waitrose Ltd in
1908. After few years Waitrose expanded their location around Acton area. By 1937 Waite was

Waitrose objective and strategies is that they believe in a championing British produce, treading

recognition of the work that they do, Waitrose has received a Big Tick Award in the Sustainable
Supply Chain category at the Responsible Business Awards 2013. Waitrose build long term
relationships with their farmers and suppliers, which helps their customers to get the best possible
food and drink to help them to live more healthily this is The Waitrose Way. (Waitrose.com, n.d.)
Customer Value and customer relationship is important to Waitrose and any other businesses.
Customer value is important to create a satisfying customer, customers who is satisfied with their
product and value. Developing Customer relationship is also an important so that you get to know
your customers and try to persuade them as customers. Satisfying customer is every actions and

1 Choose three basic needs and give a personal example of how you use communication to fulfill
each of the needs. (Chapter 1)
Three basic needs include affection, inclusion and control following which Maslow has proposed
his hierarchy of needs.
First, Physiological needs which include food, water and oxygen. In order to buy food and
water, I have to communicate with grocery store s manager and clerks, I have to communicate
with cashiers to pay for my shopping. Also, I need to go to the doctor s office regularly to check
my health. I have to communicate with the secretary to book an appointment, talk to the nurses
about my concerns and finally talk to the doctor about my problem. Moreover, I may need to go to
the lab for some blood tests or do the ultrasounds. They all need communication with staffs, doctors
as well as communicating with pharmacy assistants or pharmacist to get my medications.
Second, safety needs which include comfort, security, freedom from fear, freedom from violence.
For example, once there was a rubbery from our locker. So we informed the security guard of our
condo and after filling the report form, we called the police so that they could find the thief.
Finally, belongingness and love needs which include affiliation, acceptance and belongingness. For
instance, I m really interested in the

Comparing J. R. Simplot And Why The Fries Taste Good
I want to start out by summarizing both stories real quick. Why The Fries Taste Good is a short
biography of J.R Simplot, a man who created his own potato growing business and became a
billionaire. Eat local organic food if you like, but don t kid yourself that it s green is a story
about a man who is trying to inform those that just because you shop in a farmers market, you
aren t helping save the planet, but you re actually doing the opposite of helping. Both stories talk
about food and both involve growing food, but the general idea of each story differs from each
other. The first story is telling you the life story of Simplot, and the second is telling you why one
thing is bad over the other. I do believe that each story differs in telling... Show more content on

The reason I think this is because while reading the story, I noticed that Delingpole always had a
source to go with his statistic. For example, he quotes a study, saying as Matt Ridley records in
his The Rational Optimist A New Zealand lamb requires as quarter as much energy to get on to
a London plate as a Welsh one. This makes me think that there is reasonable research that has
been done, and that I could believe it. This isn t the only source either, he goes on to back a lot
of other claims too. It is a different story when it comes to Why the Fries Taste Good . There are
little to no sources in the story. The only quote Schlosser has is when he quoted Harvey
Levenstein. There are statistics in the story but have no credit to them, such as in 1960, the typical
American ate eighty one pounds of fresh potatoes and about four pounds of frozen french fries. The
other time is when Simplot was asked about his success. I mention this because where is the source
for this information? Schlosser could have easily made this information up, how do I know it s

Social Policy On Invisible Disabilities
The policy topic that I have decided to address is Invisible Disabilities, because this is a huge
social problem. In our society a person with a disability is primarily recognized from when you
look at someone and you can visibly confirm that they are disabled. Visible disabilities are what
most people think of when they think of someone who is disabled: for instance someone in a
wheelchair. The truth is, not all disabilities are physically visible, and generates negative attitudes
towards persons who suffer from them. Some invisible disabilities include learning disabilities,
brain injuries, epilepsy, narcolepsy, and so many more. The goal is to try to aid people with

(Brennan 2013, p.68 69)
Disability, under Social Security law, is based on your inability to work. You will meet the
Social Security definition of disability if SSA finds that you cannot do the work you did before;
you cannot adjust to other work because of your medical condition(s); and your disability has
lasted or is expected to last for at least one year or result in death. This is a strict definition of
disability. (Brennan 2013, p.68 69)
With the way that the current laws and policies are defined it creates a burden to those that do not
fit in the narrow box created. There are obvious flaws with the way that the economic factors affect
this social problem. The statistics are what hold the truth, and it shows that economic factors are
still at a standstill for the disabled

Communism And Communism Essay
China and Oceania are strikingly similar to each other. However, both countries are ruled by two
different political ideologies. To this day in China, the government organizes themselves under the
Communist party. Communism is, in theory, a classless society in which all wealth and property
are owned by the community as a whole, although in reality, there are few variations of this
definition as every society is different. Every building and plot of land is owned by the community.
The true goal of communismis to have a society without rulers, but Mao Zedong forged his own
path and abandoned this principle. When Mao Zedong gained control over China, he first hunted

A totalitarian government is own that is ruled by a single party, has total control of the military
and communication, uses terror as a controlled tactic, and controls the economy. In Oceania, Big
Brother dominates his citizens, military, and economy. While being tortured, one man says, I
don t care who it is or what you do to them. I ve got a wife and three children. The biggest of them
isn t six years old. You can take the whole lot of them and cut their throats in front of my eyes,
and I ll stand by and watch it. But not Room 101! (Orwell 299). The torture subjected by the
Ministry of Truth is so deplorable that the prisoner would rather see his own wife and children
suffer it over him. The use of torture forces confessions from every prisoner and influences them
to act and say as the government pleases, establishing complete control. The government also
exerts their control over Oceania by limiting the products in society: At any given moment there
was some necessary article which the Party shops were unable to supply. Sometimes it was
buttons, sometimes it was darning wool, sometimes it was shoelaces; at present it was razor
blades (Orwell 48). Orwell describes earlier, As a short time ago as February, the Ministry of
Plenty had issued a promise (a categorical pledge as they called it) that there would be no reduction

A Critical Analysis Of Kim By Rudyard KiplingKim
Fatima V Montano Luna English 100 Professor Timonthy J. Juntilla 30 November 2017 Kim
Research Paper Rudyard Kipling s genuine work was obtusely polemical; however, a genius
radical message overruns his fictional too. Even though the novel Kim, with its lively portrayals
of the geology and societies of India, is by all accounts a festival of the subcontinent and its local
people groups, it, in any case, is organized as an expert radical work. As one with this feeling of
good commitment to force English government on the dull races of the world was the storing up
of financial and worldwide power for England itself, the biggest domain the world had ever
observed. Along these lines, the upkeep of the feeling of good commitment in India was a critical
piece of the belief system behind the monetary welfare of the domain. Kipling makes an extremely
specific depiction of the political condition of India that distinctly disregards the developing clash
between the local Indians and political condition severs to keep up the quality and legitimacy of the
British presence in India. The way the countries justify this practice was because they have found
resources that they didn t have in their countries: like in Africa, India, and parts of Asia. British
found out that these countries had raw materials as well, for instance, some of the sources that were
found in India were cotton, coffee, tea, jute, indigo, and opium. The way British implemented the

When Skilling was hired, the staff that he motivated as being innovative and independent, used

The Etruscan Temples And The Parthenon
During the fifth century and Eighth century BCE, The Etruscan Temples and The Parthenon were

The Etruscan Temples are built with influences from Greece. However, Both have different

were very worn down and most were no longer standing, though, they were measured to about
5x6 meters long with a height of 2 meters with the altar of ten steps in the front of the temple.
The Etruscans made small temples, like little houses with pointed roofs, entirely of wood, but

The Immigration Is Not A New Concept Within The 21th Century
The immigration is not a new concept in the 21th century. Throughout history, people would travel
into new places to establish better lives. Immigration involves the movement of people from their
home country to a host country, which they are not native, to settle and live. People migrate for
many reasons; some of which include economic or political reasons, family reunification, natural
disasters, or the desire to change one s surroundings. Today, the influx of migration became a
dilemma in European nations, which ultimately brought so many people from other nations to get
settled, especially from war countries. Leaving your country into a new place might be the hardest
decision in your life you make, since you have no knowledge about it your new place. For the last
few years, thousands of immigrants from the Middle East, South Asia, and Asia are crossing the
borders of Europeillegally to look for new places and live in better. They take so much risks in
their lives and some even cannot make it through due to the brutality of borders and waters of the

to prove their assessments for language arts and math in grades 3 8 every year, then once during
their high school years. By the 2007 school year, science assessments became mandatory. Although
the NCLB were designed to include children with disabilities, they were still expected to partake in
the assessments, even if it meant providing accommodations for them. Some accommodations
could include students with disabilities receiving extra time on test, having a small group
management, having test questions read aloud to them or allowing them to take extra breaks during
the test (No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB): An Overview, 2014). Since all schools were to prove a

The Most Significant Changes to the Laws of Iraq after the...
The Most Significant Changes to the laws of Iraq after the War in 2003. Iraqi laws have seen
constant changes. Many old laws have been replaced by a new legislation, and other laws have
been amended; first by the US Civil Administrator Paul Bremer, and later by the government of
Iraq. And this happened after the fall of Saddam Hussain`s regime and the occupation of Iraqby the
American and the British forces on 9th April 2003. Paul Bremer issued more than 100 laws and
regulations within one year changing and repealing long established civil and commercial laws.
And most of these laws are not devoid of interest. The U.S. preference at the expense of the
Iraqis and their national sovereignty the most important is the investment law and corporate
law. Then it exempt companies from providing capital to run their branches and this (Capital)

useful in the old law. Not only that, but it has canceled many of the articles in the penal code and
has replaced it with other laws, as well as in criminal law and personal status law and other laws.

Torrance And Creativity
Dr. Torrance and Creativity
Dr. Ellis Paul Torrance was a very creative individual whose work with the aging population he
has influenced program offerings at Kansas State University. The objectives of this paper include
discussing Dr. Torrance s background, a reflection of his work in creativity, how his work has
influenced program offerings, and how Dr. Torrance s work could impact our work with aging.
Lastly, I will discuss what I have learned from studying him.
Dr. Ellis Paul Torrance was born in 1915 to a farming family in rural Georgia (Childs, 2013). He
started school late, at age seven due to a learning disability, but through encouragement from
teachers and family, Dr. Torrance became an avid reader and writer, often winning writing... Show

He noticed that students labeled as difficult may actually have creative potential that just hadn t
been tapped into (Bert 2012). With further research, education, and as a counselor and
psychologist in the US Army, Dr. Torrance began his life long interest and journey into creativity
(Bert 2012). In 1946, after leaving the Army, Torrance started his career at Kansas State College
in the counseling bureau where soon after he was transitioned into the role of Dean of Men and a
few years later returned as Director of the Counseling Bureau and professor of psychology (Bert
2002). In 1951, he was appointed Director of Survival Research in the Air Force, and in1957 he
developed a definition of survival creativity, whenever one is faced with a problem for which he
has no practiced or learned solution, some degree of creativity is required (Millar, 1995). During
his time at the Air Force, he wrote 135 research papers with his colleagues on survival and
creativity and began designing creativity tests (Bert, 2002). His research studies continued and he
began to publish books and more research studies(Childs, 2013). As a professor of educational
psychology at the University of Georgia, he invented the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking
setting the standard for measuring creativity (Bert, 2002). He also developed the Future Problem
Solving Program, which is known all over the world (Bert, 2002). Throughout his long career, Dr.
Torrance authored over 2000 books and research articles, and was a much sought after speaker and

Global Warming And The Greenhouse Effect
Global warming is the increase in the average surface temperature of the Earth due to the effect
of the buildup of greenhouse gases, due to deforestation and burning fossil fuels which causes
the heat to be trapped that would otherwise escape from the earth. To understand global warming,
you need to understand the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is actually essential for
life on earth to exist as it allows the planet to remain warm enough to sustain life. For example if
we consider for moment a simplistic comparison of a car parked in the sun. The rays of the sun
enter the car through the windows and some of the heat is absorbed by items inside the car
(seats, dashboard etc). These objects will in turn begin to release heat and some of this heat
escapes back through the windows but some of the heat is reflected back into the car. The result
is that more heat enters the car than is able to escape it and the interior of the car warms up. So
if you think of the earth s atmosphere as the car s interior. The landscape and structures on earth
can be seen as the cars seats and dashboard. The role of the cars windows is played by certain
things within the earth s atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methanegas and water vapour which
absorb the heat reflected by the earth below. These are known as greenhouse gasses.
When there are more greenhouse gasses present in the atmosphere, more heat can be retained
leading to a rise in the temperature of our planet. This is what I

The Cause Of The Pleistocene Ice Ages
Global warming is the warmth of Earth s temperature by the sunlight as a main cause. 30 percent
of the sunlight reflected back into space by clouds, and the remaining 70 percent is absorbed by
land, air and ocean. Solar energy does not stay bound up on Earth s environment perpetually. Global
warming is a phenomenon, it has started from the last century. It impacts on Earth and that can lead
to climate changein the world. A lot of scientists have approved that global warmingis a fact and
have approved natural changes and they discovered the reason behind that is global warming.
Understanding the cause of the Pleistocene ice ages has been a significant question in climate
dynamics since they were discovered in the mid nineteenth century. The identification of orbital
frequencies in the marine record, a proxy for global ice volume, in the 1970s demonstrated that
glacial cycle are ultimately paced by astronomical forcing (Jeremy. D. 1). Therefore, we should save
our planet by preventing global warming from happening. Global warmth starts with sunlight. The
earth tries to absorb the largest amount of sunshine. Temperatures are certain to go up further. But
why should we worry about a seemingly small increase in temperature? It turns out that the global
average temperature is quite stable over long periods of time, and small changes in that temperature
correspond to enormous changes in the environment (Riebeek. 2). This phenomenon has led to an
unprecedented rise in

Ukraine Case Study
Introduction: The educational challenges endured by the Ukrainian government and its citizens is a
suitable option for the final comparison paper against Finland. Ukraine shares a longstanding
history with Russia having only attained independence in 1991, and aimed to cultivate a
relationship with Western Europe, particularly the European Union (EU). Discouragingly, twenty
six years after independence Ukraine wrestles with a depleted economy inherited from former and
first President Leonid Kravchuk. Leonid Kuchma, the country s second president, only fared slightly
better than his predecessor but soon faltered. Kuchma was accused by the opposition of
immoderately conceding to Russian economic interests. What s more, Kuchma s... Show more

One of Russia s most well known acts of aggression against Ukraine was the annexation of Crimea.
With evidence that Russia is attempting to expand its influence, how will this affect Ukraine s
sovereignty and most importantly its policies? (The Atlantic 2014). Above all, it will be interesting
to dissect how this affects education policies. In spite of pressure from Russia, in 2014 Ukrainian
policymakers passed a legislation that empowered universities with more autonomy with their
curriculum, finances and hiring practices. Before its passage, the government was overly involved
in the design and implementation of education programs which inhibited faculty research endeavors
(Freedom House 2016).
The Electoral System Ukraine s next presidential and parliamentary election is scheduled for
2019. A mixed election system is utilized to elect the 450 legislative seats. 225 members of
parliament are elected through first past the post voting (FPTP) with a five percent threshold
from single member districts and the other 225 are selected from a closed list through
proportional representation. In order for a party to be successful they must acquire a minimum of
5 percent of the votes. On Election Day, Ukrainians cast two ballots, a ballot in support of their
local representative and political party (Freedom House 2016). More so than other parliamentary
systems coalitions are imperative for victory. One of the most notable aspects on the 2014

Equality In The Time Machine
The Journey for EqualityThe sole equality on earth is death. Although true equality may not be
attainable in this world, Wells explores what life would be like if peace and equality was normal.
The Eloi and Morlocks are used to represent his ideas, and although they have differences, they are
both given the chance to become better. H.G. Wells manages to incorporate a sense of equality
throughout his novel The Time Machine.
H.G. Wells leaves the characters nameless in order to create a sense of equality among them. The
very first thing Wells does is introduce the characters, because without them, there would be no
audience to tell the story to. The characters are important to the novel, yet most of them remain

Wells portrays a manipulative relationship between the Eloi and the Morlocks. The Eloi abused
their power and in return, the Morlocks took it over. Starting in chapter five and throughout the
rest of the novel, we see the hostility of the two groups. The Eloi hate the dark because of the
Morlocks. The Morlocks terrorize and eat the Eloi as portrayed by the Time Traveller. Upon
finding this out, the Time Traveller jumps to the conclusion that the Morlocks are bad. In fact,
the Eloi had it coming to them, they dealt a dirty blow and they received a bigger one. Wells
used his knowledge to interpret what would happen if one group was given the upper hand for too
long. It s only natural for the Morlocks to retaliate, and this nature is why equality is never
attainable. Although the two groups are depicted as enemies, they are equal in certain ways. Both
groups were given a chance to excel and it happened at different times. The Morlocks were able to
assess the situation, and given there opportunistic origins, were able to make the best of it. Neither
group is better than each other, but neither group is worse either. This equality between them,
although fleeting, depicts a surreal, almost utopian,

Hitchcock Duality Of Human Nature Analysis
Hitchcock also explores the duality of human nature through the parlour scene. We start with a
mid shot of Marion to show her initial reaction of the parlour, then to a close up of an owl with
its wings spread open looking at Marion like it would on its prey. We can see this is a duality of
predator vs prey resembling the good and the bad. We also notice around the room there is
stuffed ravens and crows and that they are usually symbolised with death, while Owls are
symbolised with wisdom and knowledge. The difference in these birds is a duality itself showing
good vs bad. This is hinting at Norman and what is about to happen between him and Marion, we

The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution set people away from farms and small villages and moved them to cities
and towns because of the job opportunities that arose in the cities. The Industrial Revolution not
only helped people move along in the late 1700s and early 1800s but also it has made the people
what they are today. During the Industrial Revolution, the movement from an agrarian society to an
industrial one reshaped the roles of families, widen the gap between classes, and led to the
developments in communication, transportation, and other scientific fields that completely
changed humanity.
The Industrial Revolution started in the late 1700s and early 1800s which helped the transition
from agrarian to one of industrial. Before the factories were made, the common folk would work
on the farms that would make the food that they would need to survive, and they would also make
their own clothes. All the clothes and materials that the people had before the industrial revolution
they would make themselves because there was no mass production of items being made and the
people who would sell the items never had enough in their inventory for everyone to buy. Factories
started to arise making it easier to mass produce items that the people wanted, like cloths and
eventually everyday materials. Those factories and opportunities for work is why people moved
into cities.( History.com)

Family Guy Is An American Sitcom
Texas Longhorns football fans often use a specific hand gesture when rooting for their team; by
holding up the fore and pinkie fingers while keeping the middle and ring fingers down, using the

Longhorns fan were to make this same gesture in Spain, it would be an offensive gesture that

Fear Of Death In Don Delillo s White Noise
Why is death feared, and what should be done to assuage this fear? White Noise, by Don
DeLillo, focuses on Jack Gladney, a professor, as he traverses America in response to a huge man
made disaster, the Airborne Toxic Event. This stress pushes Jack to his limit, and in doing so,
DeLillo exposes the masked and pernicious tropes that underlie American society. Fleeing from the
Airborne Toxic Event, Jack reveals a crippling fearof death, which both paralyzes and motivates
him. This fear of death is a central motif of the book, and DeLillo explores the ways in which it
can be both repressed and promoted. Jack becomes stuck in paradoxical structures in which the
only escape from his fear of death augments it in the long term. Amongst his escapes are
consumption of goods and disaster images. Through his consumerism, Jack salves his
psychological distress, as the fleeting catharsis takes his mind off the ever looming gloom.
Similarly, Jack s viewing of disaster images makes death seem more distant, belonging... Show

about any topic, unless you are not willing to look on the other side of the story or facts. In my
life, I was raised to see both sides of every story. That s because you can t really judge a book or a

tendency to learn about the other side of the story then how can you sit there and judge a certain

Three Connected Facets Of Leadership
Manning and Curtis (2015) comprehensively discuss three connected facets of leadership:
leadership authority, empowerment, and the quality imperative. While each have distinct qualities
and characteristics, they are closely connected. Of these three, empowerment is the focus of two
peer reviewed articles examined for correlation and contrast in this paper. Manning and Curtis refer
to Robert Cole, influential author and educator (2015, p.177) and his series of principles that
describe empowermentin the workplace. The principles include, Trust in people; Invest in people;
Recognize accomplishments; Decentralize decision making; and View work as a cooperative
effort (Cole as cited by Manning and Curtis, 2015, p. 177). Employee empowerment retains a
critical role in the success of leaders and organizations.

Employee empowerment: from managerial practices to employees behavioral empowerment
(Boudrais, Gaudreau, Savoie, and Morin, 2009, p. 625) is the first of two articles researching the
relationship of empowerment and leadership. The second article, Employee empowerment,
employee attitudes, and performance: testing a causal model (Fernandez and Modogaziev, 2013, p.

How Did Philosophy Influence Ancient Greek Society
Greek Philosophy has not only shaped western civilization today, but it influenced ancient Greek
society as well. With the Philosophers emerged a new type of citizen, someone who wanted to
contribute to society and better themselves through study. Greek philosophers such as Plato and
Aristotle transformed how people thought, and many modern philosophers continue to ponder the
same questions that they asked, today. Greek philosophychanged ancient Greek society because it
helped start and develop democracy, it set certain social expectations, and it shaped Greek culture.
The foundation of democratic thought is the idea that all men are equal. A big part of this equality
was that all citizens could voice their own opinions. Speech was vital... Show more content on

Pythagoras s approach combined sciences and religion, he also invented the Pythagorean theorem
and deductive reasoning (Violatti, Ancient History Encyclopedia). People began to re approach
traditional questions that had previously been answered through religion and superstition.
Furthermore, Socrates started a new approach by focusing entirely on moral and psychological
questions, rather than questions about the tangible world (Violatti, Ancient History
Encyclopedia). A major advance was the discovery of Astrology. Ptolemy thought that the Earth
stood fixed at the center of the universe, with crystalline spheres within spheres whirling around
it. In balance, the universe had a vast influence on earthly events, which was the basis for the
belief in Astrology (Ptolemy, b.k. I.II 3 7). In that ideal world of ideas, one can experience the real
forms, which are perfect and universal. Our world is an imperfect parody of the Platonic flawless
and superior world of Ideas (Plato, The Republic, 4.1, 419 34). As people strived to get to the ideal
world they came up with many inventions in areas such as astrology, mathematics, and the sciences
as well as more philosophical questions (Violatti, Ancient History Encyclopedia). Asking and
answering these questions helped the Greeks understand the world around them. The influential
philosopher Aristotle made the idea of logic and reason a trademark of ancient Greek culture
(Violatti, Ancient History Encyclopedia). Aristotle s logic system consists of five treatises known
as the Organon, and although it does not exhaust all logic, it was a pioneering one, revered for
centuries and regarded as the ultimate solution to logic and reference for science. Philosophy in the
ancient world not only changed Greek society but also influenced future

Comparison Between Ferdy And Captain Shakespeare
The negotiation that occurred between Ferdy and Captain Shakespeare did not end in Ferdy s
favor. Throughout its entirety, Captain Shakespeare had complete control of its direction and
ended the negotiation with his proposal of 200 for the lightning bolts. The majority of messages
were conveyed through body language; throughout the negotiation Captain Shakespeare s body
language expressed authority, commitment to his asking price, and a tone of voice that was
more aggressive than Ferdy. Ferdy s downfall was his approach, from beginning to end he tried
to bargain a price. Bargaining is one of the easiest and most popular methods, but can be costly
when using it too soon and at the wrong time (Mindtools, 2016). Another factor in his demise was

Argumentative Reflection For Student Learning For Children...
Hello Czarina,
1) I like that you mentioned that students learn when they are having fun and when they are
interested in the lesson; this seems especially important for children with ADHD. It is certainly
important to treat Sam the same way as the other children, while also correcting behavior that
disrupts the class, as you mentioned.
2) I wanted to share a motivational video about ADHD as opposed to the negative aspects of
ADHD so I m glad you enjoyed Stephen Tonti s talk! As for things that he isn t interested in
taking him a long time to complete, I also wondered if this is a normal challenge that most people
face, but is just exacerbated for him because of his ADHD. Also, I can t help but wonder what kind
of a role personality plays in this phenomenon.
3) You brought up a great point, inattentiveness can be dangerous! Too often I see people taking
selfies while driving, and on their phones in general. I also liked your point on internal validation,
which I don t hear discussed (or written about) often enough.
Hello Kinda,
1) Great ideas on how to help Sam! Giving him an active job in the classroom would allow him to
speak and move in the class without it being disrupting to his teacher or his peers.
2) Glad you enjoyed the video. As you pointed out, Steven Tonti did a great job pointingout the
useful qualities of ADHD instead of the negative sides of the symptoms, which is usually all that

Disadvantages Of Foreign Aid
Before we start talking and analyzing aid in all its dimensions, one has first to better understand
what aid represents in all its complicity. Beginning with the theories of aid during the last sanctuary,
we can say that different disciplines of theoreticians give diverse interpretations of the phenomenon
of foreign aid. The realists think that the most important dimension of aid is its purpose, especially
when it is used as an instrument of diplomacy. Given the assumption that states behave in an
anarchic environment, the realists see foreign aid as an instrument used to ensure state security,
protection of its political and economic interests. Therefore, taking into consideration that aid in this
case is given having donor`s interests at the core of motivation, its capability to achieve

Sacrifice In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallow
In today s world, there are many people ready to make sacrifices. Some are doing it for their
country, and some for their family and friends. The definition of sacrifice according to Webster s
dictionary is an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an
offering to God or to a divine or supernatural figure. People today do not tend to go by the same
definition as others, every person has their own meaning of sacrifice. To me, a sacrifice is
something that everyone should be willing to make on a daily basis without the fear of death. If
people stop making sacrifices, then why should we expect our soldiers to make sacrifices for us at
the border?
One of the finest examples of sacrifice was shown in a film, London has Fallen. In this film all the
world leaders were going to gather for a meeting in the Bellingham Palace. During the event
terrorists attacked the place. The life of the President of the United States was in jeopardy. To
safeguard the president, the US soldiers used an airlift to haul the President to a ... Show more

Voldemort has his own evil army, while Harry only has his friends and school professor. During the
film, when Harry and his friends were losing, Voldemort declared, give me Harry Potter and I shall
set you all free. Since Harry had lost most of his friends and professors in the war, he decided to
sacrifice his life to save his friends. This is an example of sacrificing to save your loved ones.
All in all, when a true sacrifice is made, it is usually made to protect one s country or loved ones.
Sacrifice will not always bring happiness to society, but sometimes it is necessary for some
honorable man or woman to make a sacrifice to keep others safe. The people who make this type of
sacrifice will most likely receive a lot of love from others and will be remembered in

Biology 441
Section 16138
December 11, 2014 Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Derived Neural Crest Stem Cells and the
maintenance of Neural crest stem cell multipotency
Stem cells are unspecialized cells, which have the potential to develop into several different cell
types muscle cells, brain cells, skin cells, or red blood cells during early development. Stem cells
continuously divide in order to replace other cells. As stem cells divide, they have the potential to
develop into a specialized cell or remain a stem cell. Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) play an
essential role in tissue regeneration, and can circumvent immune system concerns. There are a
variety of stem cells, including embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem
cells. However, the main focus of this paper will be the usage of induced pluripotent stem cells.
Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Derived Neural Crest Stem Cells Induced pluripotent stem cells
are adult cells that are genetically altered in order to match embryonic stem cells. In order to
achieve this embryonic stem cell like nature, induced pluripotent stem cells are impelled to
express genes and factors required to maintain the properties of embryonic stem cells. The main
iPSC discussed in this paper will be derived neural crest stem cells (NCSCs). Derived neural crest
stem cells are present in both the embryonic neural crest and the

Campaign To Keep Guns Off Campus Analysis
Today thousands of young students go to colleges and universities here in America. With so many
young minds placed onto one campus with little to no parental supervision the question is asked:
are college campuses a safe place? Yes, most college campuses across America are safe. A study
prepared by the campaign to keep guns off campus shows that the crimerate for college is
monumentally lower than the rate for the city where the campus is located. For example, in 2013
the city of Jacksonville Florida had 452 cases of forcible rape and 3,277 accounts of aggravated
assaults. A staggering amount compared to 1 forcible rape and 6 counts of aggravated assaults at
the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. But what keeps students safe on

5-Htpr Case Study
Question: Does 5 HTTLPR moderate the effect it has on stressful life events (victimization)
differently depending on gender?
Importance: In Benjet et al. s study (2010), the investigators state that the results of the interaction
of the 5 HTTLPR and environmental variables for adolescent boys have been inconsistent. The
research on adolescent girls though has been the opposite, as results have been more definitive.
Since there have been inconsistencies in the literature for adolescent boys between the moderation
of 5 HTTLPR and other factors, there is a need for more research to be done on this group of
children to better understand how depression symptoms are developed on boys and to investigate
whether adolescent boys that have 2 short alleles (s/s) have a genetic vulnerability like their female
counterparts do. This would also help in creating preventative measures for male adolescents if they
do have this genetic vulnerability and if they do not, maybe there is some other factor that could be
moderating depression on adolescent boys more than adolescent girls.
Answer: I do not think that 5 HTTLPR has different moderating effects because if it did, there
should be more conclusive results. What I think could be driving these inconsistencies is social
stigma. Adolescent girls tend to report higher levels of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It could also be due to parenting. People who suffer from bipolar disorder do not necessarily have
to have episodes of depression so this could promote for more adaptive and supportive parent child
relationships compared to the mothers who suffer from unipolar depression. Because of this,
children do not suffer high intensity bur rather mild disorders since the parenting of bipolar
mothers could be less discordant than the parenting of unipolar

Descriptive Essay About George Washington
The historic moment will forever be remembered when George Washington led the American
troops across the Delaware River in order to surprise the English, the day after Christmas in
1776. This is one of the most famous parts of American history; the vision of brave men standing
up and fighting together against incredible odds for the common cause of liberty. It really
speaks to me as a proud American citizen; these men didn t give up in the face of defeat; they
won the battle. I chose this website because I had connections; I enjoyed learning about our first
president s lifestyle and his house. I actually visited it once. I had such a relation to Washington
s, Never give up, kind of style so I take every advantage I can in my life, especially if it s the day
after Christmas! I selected, http://wwwmountvernon.org as the website I was reviewing. The
owners seek innovative ways to tell the story of George Washington so that his life lessons are
taught to the world. When the user first loads up the front page, they are greeted with panoramic
views of the plantation house of George Washington. It is a beautiful view and makes the user
more interested in going to Mount Vernon. It has more of an impact because the slideshow doesn
t have still frames; it has animation and life to it. Before the user scrolls down, the slideshow
consists of 60% of the front page. It acts as a background for transparent text that sits on top of it.
The menu bar also sits on top of the slideshow;

How Did The Bubonic Plague Impact The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire can be brought back all the way to 330 AD. It was created by Constantine I,
he wanted to have Constantinople stand as the new Roman capital. The Byzantine Empire lasted

CE) who was in reign during the first outbreak (History). Procopius, the historian of the Byzantine

  • 2. Monitoring Internet Privacy While everyone might think that clearing search history, deleting a picture or tweet might make it disappear forever, it is not true. If the government wanted to they could monitor your internet use. While this could be helpful it is also harmful. I do not think the government should be able to monitor your internetuse, unless they have a reason to. While monitoring internet content does not violate any of the amendment it is an invasion of privacy. Most young adults and teens only use the internet as means of communicating. It does not harm anyone in any way. While most people are using internet for good, some people may not be. There are many cases of cyber bullying that could be going on, and adults may not know. Since cyber bullying is becoming a bigger issue as technology advances, and certain apps come out that could be used for bullying it could be helpful to be able to monitor internet use. So as for local governmentit makes sense that they could monitor internet content if a problem is brought to their attention. As for federal and state goverment, they do not need to monitor your internet use unless they have a reason to. Such as terorist websites or threatening emails that... • 3. The Importance Of Roosevelt s Contribution To United... All three of these Presidents did a lot to contribute to United States foreign policy. Roosevelt had his Big Stick Policy, Taft had his Dollar Diplomacy, and Wilson had his Moral Diplomacy. But which one did the most to acheive US foreign policy goals? Which one enforced the Monroe Doctrine most effectively? Which one protected the Open Door in China? That president was Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt strongly believed in the Monroe Doctrine; so much so that he even added a corollary to it. The main reason he added a corollary is because in 1904, the Dominican Republic went bankrupt, and he feared that European countries such as Germany, would intervene forcibly, to try and collect debts. So, to prevent the nations from doing so he created the Roosevelt Corollary. In a nutshell, the corollary said; that if any Latin American country was in trouble (civil unrest /debt) our military would intervene. This reinforced the Big Brother policy and made us the police of the Western Hemisphere; and made sure that if they re was anything going awry for Latin American countries, we would be the ones to step in, not any European countries... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taft s Dollar Diplomacy may have had good intentions by helping countries pay off their international debt, and promoting trade in East Asia, but ultimately it failed. When Taft would try to solve problems in Latin America by using our financial power instead of the military, everything would just fall apart again. Woodrow Wilsondid use the Monroe Doctrine in a sense because he did intervene in many Latin American countries, just he didn t stabilize a few of them. Look at Mexico for example; after the authoritarian Huerta took over, he didn t recognize the government which uncovered a whole world of new conflicts for us and Mexico. The only reason we pulled out was because of World War ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Victim Impact Role This essay will evaluate the roles of Victim Impact Statements, the importance of understanding both victims and offenders and to reinforce the growth and development of the criminal justice system. It will also evaluate the dark figure of crime, the role of victims in the criminal justice system, the positive and negative outcomes and why are victims as important in the criminal justice system. According to Muncie (2001) crimeis increasing to be a continuous source of community concern. Escalating levels of insecurity, the threat of public disorder, fear of violence, household burglary, rioting, children out of control, new forms of terrorism, vandalism and growth in all manner of anti social behaviour. Crimes are unreported for various reasons; some of the reasons why committed towards certain minority groups are unreported is because of the distrust and faith in the police force, language barriers and fear of repercussions from the offender. Certain minority groups include, ethnic people, people with disability, woman, youth, homeless and indigenous. The Crime Victim Survey s uncovers the Dark Figure of crime and victimisation, it acknowledges the victim and it also explains about the limitations and strengths of recording and reporting crimes. For a crime to be recorded there are three stages that must be delivered. The first is that a person must identify that a crime has been committed, the offender who is committing the crime must been seen by another person. Secondly, the police or others to whom the crime has been reported must accept that the action has been done against the law, or that law has been broken in the act. Thirdly, the crime must be reported to the relevant authorities either by the one who has observed the crime being committed or the person who committed it. If one fails then the crime is unrecognized, although other members of the public may have noticed or heard about a crime and could be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Chapter 1) Three basic needs include affection, inclusion and control following which Maslow has proposed his hierarchy of needs. First, Physiological needs which include food, water and oxygen. In order to buy food and water, I have to communicate with grocery store s manager and clerks, I have to communicate with cashiers to pay for my shopping. Also, I need to go to the doctor s office regularly to check my health. I have to communicate with the secretary to book an appointment, talk to the nurses about my concerns and finally talk to the doctor about my problem. Moreover, I may need to go to the lab for some blood tests or do the ultrasounds. They all need communication with staffs, doctors as well as communicating with pharmacy assistants or pharmacist to get my medications. Second, safety needs which include comfort, security, freedom from fear, freedom from violence. For example, once there was a rubbery from our locker. So we informed the security guard of our condo and after filling the report form, we called the police so that they could find the thief. Finally, belongingness and love needs which include affiliation, acceptance and belongingness. For instance, I m really interested in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why The Fries Taste Good is a short biography of J.R Simplot, a man who created his own potato growing business and became a billionaire. Eat local organic food if you like, but don t kid yourself that it s green is a story about a man who is trying to inform those that just because you shop in a farmers market, you aren t helping save the planet, but you re actually doing the opposite of helping. Both stories talk about food and both involve growing food, but the general idea of each story differs from each other. The first story is telling you the life story of Simplot, and the second is telling you why one thing is bad over the other. I do believe that each story differs in telling... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason I think this is because while reading the story, I noticed that Delingpole always had a source to go with his statistic. For example, he quotes a study, saying as Matt Ridley records in his The Rational Optimist A New Zealand lamb requires as quarter as much energy to get on to a London plate as a Welsh one. This makes me think that there is reasonable research that has been done, and that I could believe it. This isn t the only source either, he goes on to back a lot of other claims too. It is a different story when it comes to Why the Fries Taste Good . There are little to no sources in the story. The only quote Schlosser has is when he quoted Harvey Levenstein. There are statistics in the story but have no credit to them, such as in 1960, the typical American ate eighty one pounds of fresh potatoes and about four pounds of frozen french fries. The other time is when Simplot was asked about his success. I mention this because where is the source for this information? The truth is, not all disabilities are physically visible, and generates negative attitudes towards persons who suffer from them. To this day in China, the government organizes themselves under the Communist party. Communism is, in theory, a classless society in which all wealth and property are owned by the community as a whole, although in reality, there are few variations of this definition as every society is different. Every building and plot of land is owned by the community. The true goal of communismis to have a society without rulers, but Mao Zedong forged his own path and abandoned this principle. The government also exerts their control over Oceania by limiting the products in society: At any given moment there was some necessary article which the Party shops were unable to supply. Sometimes it was buttons, sometimes it was darning wool, sometimes it was shoelaces; at present it was razor blades (Orwell 48). • 12. A Critical Analysis Of Kim By Rudyard KiplingKim Fatima V Montano Luna English 100 Professor Timonthy J. Juntilla 30 November 2017 Kim Research Paper Rudyard Kipling s genuine work was obtusely polemical; however, a genius radical message overruns his fictional too. Even though the novel Kim, with its lively portrayals of the geology and societies of India, is by all accounts a festival of the subcontinent and its local people groups, it, in any case, is organized as an expert radical work. As one with this feeling of good commitment to force English government on the dull races of the world was the storing up of financial and worldwide power for England itself, the biggest domain the world had ever observed. Along these lines, the upkeep of the feeling of good commitment in India was a critical piece of the belief system behind the monetary welfare of the domain. Kipling makes an extremely specific depiction of the political condition of India that distinctly disregards the developing clash between the local Indians and political condition severs to keep up the quality and legitimacy of the British presence in India. The way the countries justify this practice was because they have found resources that they didn t have in their countries: like in Africa, India, and parts of Asia. British found out that these countries had raw materials as well, for instance, some of the sources that were found in India were cotton, coffee, tea, jute, indigo, and opium. Throughout history, people would travel into new places to establish better lives. Immigration involves the movement of people from their home country to a host country, which they are not native, to settle and live. People migrate for many reasons; some of which include economic or political reasons, family reunification, natural disasters, or the desire to change one s surroundings. Today, the influx of migration became a dilemma in European nations, which ultimately brought so many people from other nations to get settled, especially from war countries. Leaving your country into a new place might be the hardest decision in your life you make, since you have no knowledge about it your new place. For the last few years, thousands of immigrants from the Middle East, South Asia, and Asia are crossing the borders of Europeillegally to look for new places and live in better. They take so much risks in their lives and some even cannot make it through due to the brutality of borders and waters of the seas and oceans. Immigrants get drowned in the sea. A friend of mine who left Afghanistan last year with his two children and wife, his older son sunk in the Mediterranean Sea and died. Is it worth it? However, those even who make to their final destinations have also have so much difficulties to get settled. It described how and what students would be learning and assessments given to prove their success. The NCLB was designed with academic standards categorized by each individual state. • 25. Global Warming And The Greenhouse Effect Global warming is the increase in the average surface temperature of the Earth due to the effect of the buildup of greenhouse gases, due to deforestation and burning fossil fuels which causes the heat to be trapped that would otherwise escape from the earth. To understand global warming, you need to understand the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is actually essential for life on earth to exist as it allows the planet to remain warm enough to sustain life. For example if we consider for moment a simplistic comparison of a car parked in the sun. The rays of the sun enter the car through the windows and some of the heat is absorbed by items inside the car (seats, dashboard etc). These objects will in turn begin to release heat and some of this heat escapes back through the windows but some of the heat is reflected back into the car. The result is that more heat enters the car than is able to escape it and the interior of the car warms up. So if you think of the earth s atmosphere as the car s interior. The landscape and structures on earth can be seen as the cars seats and dashboard. The role of the cars windows is played by certain things within the earth s atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methanegas and water vapour which absorb the heat reflected by the earth below. These are known as greenhouse gasses. When there are more greenhouse gasses present in the atmosphere, more heat can be retained leading to a rise in the temperature of our planet. This is what I ... • 26. The Cause Of The Pleistocene Ice Ages Global warming is the warmth of Earth s temperature by the sunlight as a main cause. 30 percent of the sunlight reflected back into space by clouds, and the remaining 70 percent is absorbed by land, air and ocean. Solar energy does not stay bound up on Earth s environment perpetually. Global warming is a phenomenon, it has started from the last century. It impacts on Earth and that can lead to climate changein the world. A lot of scientists have approved that global warmingis a fact and have approved natural changes and they discovered the reason behind that is global warming. Understanding the cause of the Pleistocene ice ages has been a significant question in climate dynamics since they were discovered in the mid nineteenth century. The identification of orbital frequencies in the marine record, a proxy for global ice volume, in the 1970s demonstrated that glacial cycle are ultimately paced by astronomical forcing (Jeremy. D. 1). Therefore, we should save our planet by preventing global warming from happening. Global warmth starts with sunlight. The earth tries to absorb the largest amount of sunshine. Temperatures are certain to go up further. But why should we worry about a seemingly small increase in temperature? It turns out that the global average temperature is quite stable over long periods of time, and small changes in that temperature correspond to enormous changes in the environment (Riebeek. 2). It s only natural for the Morlocks to retaliate, and this nature is why equality is never attainable. Although the two groups are depicted as enemies, they are equal in certain ways. The Industrial Revolution not only helped people move along in the late 1700s and early 1800s but also it has made the people what they are today. During the Industrial Revolution, the movement from an agrarian society to an industrial one reshaped the roles of families, widen the gap between classes, and led to the developments in communication, transportation, and other scientific fields that completely changed humanity. The Industrial Revolution started in the late 1700s and early 1800s which helped the transition from agrarian to one of industrial. Before the factories were made, the common folk would work on the farms that would make the food that they would need to survive, and they would also make their own clothes. All the clothes and materials that the people had before the industrial revolution they would make themselves because there was no mass production of items being made and the people who would sell the items never had enough in their inventory for everyone to buy. White Noise, by Don DeLillo, focuses on Jack Gladney, a professor, as he traverses America in response to a huge man made disaster, the Airborne Toxic Event. This stress pushes Jack to his limit, and in doing so, DeLillo exposes the masked and pernicious tropes that underlie American society. Fleeing from the Airborne Toxic Event, Jack reveals a crippling fearof death, which both paralyzes and motivates him. This fear of death is a central motif of the book, and DeLillo explores the ways in which it can be both repressed and promoted. Jack becomes stuck in paradoxical structures in which the only escape from his fear of death augments it in the long term. Amongst his escapes are consumption of goods and disaster images. Through his consumerism, Jack salves his psychological distress, as the fleeting catharsis takes his mind off the ever looming gloom. Given the assumption that states behave in an anarchic environment, the realists see foreign aid as an instrument used to ensure state security, protection of its political and economic interests. Therefore, taking into consideration that aid in this case is given having donor`s interests at the core of motivation, its capability to achieve developmental purposes are meagre. On the other hand, the Marxists school of thought and postmodern tradition relates aid to the dependency theory by dividing foreign aid in tow group of interesting party s. Moreover, they emphasize the world system theory through a dependency relationship between a group of wealthy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 42. How Does Cronus See The Titanomachy As A Battle Of Good... After this week s lecture I do not see the Titanomachy as a battle of good and evil. Zeus and his father Cronus are in battle because Cronus has decided to swallow all his children, but he was tricked when it came to his sixth son, Zeus. As Zeus was sent to another island, Cronus was given a stone to swallow instead of his actual son. When the father and son battle each other I do not see it as a battle of good and evil. Zeusis simply fighting for his brothers who he eventually gets back from his father Cronus. Cronus himself went against his father Uranus. That is the main reason I do not see the Titanomachy as a battle of good and evil because I would not know who to select as good and who to select as being evil. Instead, I see the ... • 44. Sacrifice In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallow In today s world, there are many people ready to make sacrifices. Some are doing it for their country, and some for their family and friends. The definition of sacrifice according to Webster s dictionary is an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an offering to God or to a divine or supernatural figure. People today do not tend to go by the same definition as others, every person has their own meaning of sacrifice. To me, a sacrifice is something that everyone should be willing to make on a daily basis without the fear of death. If people stop making sacrifices, then why should we expect our soldiers to make sacrifices for us at the border? One of the finest examples of sacrifice was shown in a film, London has Fallen. In this film all the world leaders were going to gather for a meeting in the Bellingham Palace. During the event terrorists attacked the place. The life of the President of the United States was in jeopardy. To safeguard the president, the US soldiers used an airlift to haul the President to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Voldemort has his own evil army, while Harry only has his friends and school professor. During the film, when Harry and his friends were losing, Voldemort declared, give me Harry Potter and I shall set you all free. Since Harry had lost most of his friends and professors in the war, he decided to sacrifice his life to save his friends. This is an example of sacrificing to save your loved ones. All in all, when a true sacrifice is made, it is usually made to protect one s country or loved ones. Sacrifice will not always bring happiness to society, but sometimes it is necessary for some honorable man or woman to make a sacrifice to keep others safe. • 45. Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells And The Maintenance Of... Alyssa Gbewonyo Biology 441 Section 16138 December 11, 2014 Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Derived Neural Crest Stem Cells and the maintenance of Neural crest stem cell multipotency Stem cells are unspecialized cells, which have the potential to develop into several different cell types muscle cells, brain cells, skin cells, or red blood cells during early development. Stem cells continuously divide in order to replace other cells. As stem cells divide, they have the potential to develop into a specialized cell or remain a stem cell. Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) play an essential role in tissue regeneration, and can circumvent immune system concerns. There are a variety of stem cells, including embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells. However, the main focus of this paper will be the usage of induced pluripotent stem cells. Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Derived Neural Crest Stem Cells Induced pluripotent stem cells are adult cells that are genetically altered in order to match embryonic stem cells. In order to achieve this embryonic stem cell like nature, induced pluripotent stem cells are impelled to express genes and factors required to maintain the properties of embryonic stem cells. The main iPSC discussed in this paper will be derived neural crest stem cells (NCSCs). Derived neural crest stem cells are present in both the embryonic neural crest and the ... • 46. Campaign To Keep Guns Off Campus Analysis Today thousands of young students go to colleges and universities here in America. With so many young minds placed onto one campus with little to no parental supervision the question is asked: are college campuses a safe place? Yes, most college campuses across America are safe. A study prepared by the campaign to keep guns off campus shows that the crimerate for college is monumentally lower than the rate for the city where the campus is located. For example, in 2013 the city of Jacksonville Florida had 452 cases of forcible rape and 3,277 accounts of aggravated assaults. A staggering amount compared to 1 forcible rape and 6 counts of aggravated assaults at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. But what keeps students safe on ... • 47. 5-Htpr Case Study Question: Does 5 HTTLPR moderate the effect it has on stressful life events (victimization) differently depending on gender? Importance: In Benjet et al. s study (2010), the investigators state that the results of the interaction of the 5 HTTLPR and environmental variables for adolescent boys have been inconsistent. The research on adolescent girls though has been the opposite, as results have been more definitive. Since there have been inconsistencies in the literature for adolescent boys between the moderation of 5 HTTLPR and other factors, there is a need for more research to be done on this group of children to better understand how depression symptoms are developed on boys and to investigate whether adolescent boys that have 2 short alleles (s/s) have a genetic vulnerability like their female counterparts do. This would also help in creating preventative measures for male adolescents if they do have this genetic vulnerability and if they do not, maybe there is some other factor that could be moderating depression on adolescent boys more than adolescent girls. Answer: I do not think that 5 HTTLPR has different moderating effects because if it did, there should be more conclusive results. What I think could be driving these inconsistencies is social stigma. Adolescent girls tend to report higher levels of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It could also be due to parenting. Descriptive Essay About George Washington The historic moment will forever be remembered when George Washington led the American troops across the Delaware River in order to surprise the English, the day after Christmas in 1776.
