Garden Features Of Palms And Trees
By utilizing the majesty of many different species of Palms, you can create and design a lush,
tropical look in your garden. Valued for their arching, green fronds and beautiful trunks, Palms
are always an eye catching garden feature. In the warmer regions, Palms can be used to create a
garden with rich, tropical atmosphere. There are hundreds of varieties to choose from, with a
fascinating array of foliage forms. Palms also have attractive trunks, often with patterned or
peeling bark, that makes them an ideal backdrop for other plants in the garden. The area at the
base of Palms is the perfect spot for growing smaller shrubs, annuals and perennials which bring
color and form to the garden. For this garden design the following plants and Palms have been
used: Miniature Date Palm: The dwarf Palm with arching, glossy, deep greenfronds grows to a
height and spread of 3 meters. It has an elegant, slender trunk and produces black fruits in
autumn. Bangalow Palm: This handsome, single trunked palm with arching feathery fronds
reaches 16 meters high and 5 meters wide and displays small lilac flowers in summer. Rose
Popcorn : This 45cm high rounded miniature Rose with deep green foliage produces masses of
white flowers from spring onwards. Rose Friesia : Large, brilliant yellow blooms with a strong
perfume are exposed by this 1.2 meter tall handsome rose with upright stems and glossy green
foliage. Abelia: The height and spread of this evergreen rounded shrub

Comparison Between Community Quilts And The Quilt
Comparison of community quilts The quilt that was created to represent my community
encompassed the people and things that are central to my life. As a recent transplant to
Colorado, I have not developed a strong sense of community so I have become accustomed to
my family supports that are located throughout United States. First I would like to explain some
images and symbols in my quilt which will help with the comparison of the community quilt
made for the Strive Smart Preparatory School. My quilt has the central figures of my daughter
and I, whom I hold dearly and is the most important person in my life. The surrounding images
are my love of travel, seeing parts of the world that I always dreamed about and my curiosity of
other cultures. The image of a chameleon is a trait of my personality and the ability to adapt to
different environments and challenges. The dragon slayer is an ultra ego figure that I envision
myself as being courageous; there are two figures in the image, which I see my daughter
(Chelsea) as being with the aid of her mother. The two images of a hutch back and graphic of
China devouring the world is my artwork, created to express opinions of environmental
destruction, which is further convey by the Apple symbol at the top with the green leaves
budding from the earth. Lastly is the symbol for my love of music. I grew up listening to a wide
range of music from classic rock to rhythm and blues (R B). I appreciate having listened to a good
base of music

The Mis Education Of The Negro
The Mis Education of the Negro in Review
Carter G Woodson, the oldest of nine in a poor coal mining family found his love of learning early.
Earning a Masters degree only one year after earning a bachelor s degree, he quickly followed in the
footsteps of great minds and earned his PhD from Harvard University. He had a very well rounded
and multifaceted educational journey according to the text, but felt most connected to furthering
the pursuit of excellence for all African Americans through the creation of journals, organizations,
and eventually continuing on in higher education with the African Americanin mind. He is
credited with Black History week. In light of the time in history wherein he flourished, it is
fitting that he was part of the movement that resulted in the creation of the NAACP (iv v). In
short, he objectively appears to single handedly be the father of the African American social
awareness movement. In this particular body of work, Woodson discusses many issues that arose
and mistakes made (and appear to still be relevant) in the educating of people of color. One such
issue and summary discussed, is the disdain the learned African American develops for his fellow
less formally educated African American brother, for himself, and for life in general because he
has been estranged by a vision of ideals...he can not attain (6). He must exist in a social body that
he must not associate with socially, and yet has no alternative. The self hate that is taught,

The, A Linguistic Anthropologist, There Are Many...
As a linguistic anthropologist, there are many inferences we can make about the type of place
this lost tribe lived based on a few key phrases in their language. For instance, we can infer that
because they have no word for ocean, they lived in an environment that was inland. Based on the
statement that the only terrain this tribe knew of was absolutely flat, rolling and slightly hilly,
we can presume two conclusions: They were not aware of mountains, and they had a small
radius of land in which they traveled. If one travels in any direction for a long enough time, one
is bound to find either an ocean or a mountain, so the fact they did not know what either of these
were insinuates that they may not have traveled very much. A reason for this could be that they
wanted to preserve the climate they had. If you combine the information that says dozens of
words exist for grain, including eight for wheat alone, that they had no words for beef, pork,
veal, leather or mutton, and that there are several words for precipitation, most of which
translate to rain, we can presume that it is likely that they may not have traveled from their
home land very much, because they did not know if there would be rain in places they would
travel to. Rain may have been a key element to their survival, so they did not want to leave a place
that had it. Building upon the presumptions I have made, I will attempt to analyze what this lost
tribes values and beliefs may have been. As I said previously,

Kappa Alpha Theta And CASA Case Study
I am a Theta. I am for the child. As an undergraduate, pledging Theta at Phi chapter of Kappa
Alpha Theta has provided me with many opportunities to contribute to my community,
especially through our philanthropy work for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). For
25 years, Kappa Alpha Theta and CASA have shared a common belief that every abused or
neglected child should be loved, have a safe home, and have the opportunities to succeed. A
CASA provides a voice for children during the juvenile court system. As children move from one
foster home to the next, consumed by the legal system they are too young to understand; a CASA
becomes the one constant these children have. CASA provides a helping hand to these children;
they are fundamentally an extra set of eyes and ears for these children. By getting to know the
child, understanding his or her needs, a CASA advocates and helps find the best permanent home
for the child. I became aware of CASA during my first member meeting at Theta and I instantly

dentists. There are thousands of children like children of CASA and even adults who do not
have access to proper medical care and dental care. Thus, as dentists, I aim to help the

Article Of Confederation Failures
After gaining independence the United States struggled to establish a stable government and a
constitution. The United States relied on the Article of Confederation to constitute issues that the
states faced. Even with, what was then considered a constitution , in place the United States still
faced problems with their government bodies. The Article of Confederation failed to solve issues
but did manage to cause major confusion and disagreements with the Congress. The founding
fathers goal was to create a national government, but they also wanted to establish a weak one who
job was to unify states and control war. The national government would control trade and mediate
conflicts amongst the states. When writing the Article... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Federalists where afraid that factions would manipulate and ultimately control the government.
Federalists argued that the United States would be too large and diverse for factions to dominate
them. Anti Federalists also feared that oppression would occur amongst those with and without
power in the new constitution. The biggest debate among the Federalists and Anti Federalists was a
need for a Federal Bill of Rights. The Anti Federalists argued that it was necessary, but the
Federalists argued that it was unnecessary since those rights were already protected within the
individual state governments. Both organizations settled their differences by creating a constitution

Lord Of The Flies Vs Peter Pan Essay
Lord of the flies vs. Peter Pan In the books Lord of the Flies by William Golding, and Peter Pan
by J.M. Barrie, they share similar characteristics throughout the story and in the characters
themselves. Lord of the Flies takes place on a deserted island where about 20 British boys ages
eight to thirteen, have crashed on a jungle like island during World War II. The boys find
themselves in many dilemmas such as a fire, shelter and most importantly a need for authority
and order. Unlike Lord of the flies, Peter Pan, tells the tale of a boy who doesn t want to grow up
and lives on the magical island called Neverland with the Lost Boys, who are children who want
to join Peter on his quest for never leaving childhood to become stuck up and disciplinary adults.

In both of these stories that is just not the case. Let s start with Peter Pan, Neverland is a
compact place for adventures, with wild Red Indians in the woods, mermaids in the lagoon, and
pirates in the river and of course Peter and the lost boy gang. They make their home there with
only fear of captain hook and the dreaded adulthood. They live in harmony with very little conflict

of the island, dense green, but drawn at the end to a pink tail. There, where the island petered out
in the water, was another island; a rock, almost detached, standing like a fort, facing them across
the green with one bold, pink bastion (Golding 27). The boys on the island in Lord of the flies
situation is completely different. It was roughly boat shaped: humped near this end with behind

The Importance Of Voting In The United States
Voting is important As a US Citizens we must vote not only for our voices to be heard, but to
make sure we choose the right candidate and lastly to get credibility for voting. Voting is our
voice and it must be heard in order to resolve some issues. Voicing our opinions is so important
in the United States of America and to our community. When you vote you choose a person who
has simpler values you do. If you don t vote, you re allowing others to speak for you and that may
result in the wrong candidate to be elected. Lastly by votingyou earn credibility for example, in

you feel about it. You can help others by just voting who those who cannot voice their opinions.
However, change will be done but if no one votes that will affect a lot more than you realize. Bad
politicians will result in no voting. Also as a result you ll gain some credibility. In other words,
you cannot complain if you haven t voted. Voting shows you are part of a bigger group and you
care about what is going on around you. There are many people who cannot vote so by you voting

The Importance Of Memory And Short Term Memory
Memory to be process by which we encode, store and retrieve information. Each of the three parts
of this definition, encoding, storage, and retrieval represents a different process. You can think od
these processes as being analogous to a computer s emotion (encoding), hard drive (storage), and
software that accesses the information for display on the screen.
A momentary flash of lightning the sound of the twig snapping and the sting of a pinprick all
represent stimulation of exceedingly brief duration but the may nonetheless provide important
information that can require a response. Such stimuli are initially and fleetingly stored I sensory
memory the first repository of the information the world present to us. Sensory memory can store
information for only a very short time if information does not pass into short term memory it is lost
for good.
The information that is stored briefly in sensory memory consists of representations of raw sensory
stimuli it is not meaningful to us. If we are too make sense of it and possibly retain it the
information must be transferred to the stage of memory. Short term memory is the memory store in
which information first has meaning although the maximum length of retention there is relatively
short... (Hamilton Martin, 2007; prime jolicoeur 2010).

Southern Women Before, During After the Civil War Essay
The women of southern plantations are something that not many write about. There is a critical
lack of information and books about them, which makes writing about her a difficult task. Many
southern women are mentioned in many books only as part of the males. It was not until the early
1970 s, with the advent of the women s movement, that a book written by a Southern woman about
Southern women was recognized as being of scholarly significance... The wealthy white women of

He was believed to not have controlled his woman properly. Not all of what southern women did
daily on their plantations was work. There were also pastimes to enjoy, like entertaining friends

opportunity for cultivating the social graces, and their wives and daughters, considerably
relieved from housewifery cares, were taught drawing room accomplishments. These women
entertained in their homes and they were entertained in other ladies homes as well. When they
went out, they rode horses or they went by water (depending on where they lived). Most wealthy
southern women were accomplished horseback riders, since it was considered fit for a lady to
know how to ride. During these years the roads became better and better and carriages became
more popular and many white families traveled this way as well. Balls were very popular in this
time with the woman as well as the men. Other entertainments included comedy troops, plays,

Pluralism In America
America is no longer a primarily Christian nation. This has manifested itself in a multitude of ways,
including but not limited to: rampant sexual immorality, abuse of mind altering substances,
disregard for human life, and an overall hatred of the concept of authority. All of these things stem
back to a faulty understanding of the Biblical concept of Salvation. This faulty understanding
ultimately has existed since the beginning of Christianity. All throughout church history, the false
teaching regarding man s spiritual condition has reared its ugly head. One of the first recorded
false teachers in this area was a British monk by the name of Pelagius. Pelagius taught that man is
inherently good and that the sacrifice of Christ was ultimately... Show more content on

We think that Jesus was just a good teacher, or an example we should follow, and all we have to
do is simply live a good life and we will get to heaven. This is false on so many levels. But it is
not the only heresy in which we have to deal with to get to the root of American unbelief and/or
nominalism. The next heresy that we must cover is that of pluralism . Religious pluralism is
the belief that all roads lead to heaven. This belief has been propagated by such prominent figures
such as, Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Joel Osteen, and Pope Francis. This is a toxic idea that
upon reaching its conclusion, destroys truth. If everything is true, then why believe anything at
all? Now we must move to the final heresy plaguing America. The final heresy that America has
at large fallen prey to, is that of antinomianism, or easy believeism which has been propagated by
such men as Charles Ryrie, and Billy Graham. This believe purports that all one needs to do to
enter the kingdom is to simply believe historical facts about Jesus and you will be saved. It is
often adjoined to a sinner s prayer that is repeated en masse, and then the person who repeated the
prayer is then told that they are saved and their ticket is punched for heaven. This is a damnable
heresy from the pits of hell. The Bible no more teaches antinomianism than it does homosexuality.

Censorship In Sports Organizations
First and foremost, these sports organizations have found sponsorship necessary as a means of
offsetting rising costs and expanding promotional opportunities (Irwin, Sutton, McCarthy, 2008,
p.146). When it pertains to deciding what sponsors will go where there is one large factor to
consider. Is the sponsorship the right match for the demographic of the community? Would you
want your organization to partner with a company that had no established business in the area?
Would that make much sense for the company trying to establish a sponsorship either? Years ago,
sponsorships did not have as much logic behind them, however, today to be determined successful,
they need to pay dividends for both companies. According to Irwin, Sutton, McCarthy,

The Chemical And Physiological Effects Drugs Had On The...
As an adolescent I was interested in the biochemical and physiological effects drugs had on the
human body. It was fascination to me how something as simple as taking Advil could relieve a bad
headache or taking Nyquil could ease the symptoms of a cold. I was unaware that I wanted to

day I volunteered at my local pharmacyan older gentleman walked in after having had a check up

Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy has always stood out to me. The faith based learning
and commitment to Christian principles is the type of learning environment I desire to be in. I
personally feel that everyday life responsibilities such as working or going to school gradually
take us further away from God. Everyday life tasks and struggles distract us from living the way
God intended us to live. We are conditioned by society to worry about how much more money we
can earn or how many more material objects we must own. I have been guilty of straying away
from God during my early undergrad years. I was always too busy to go to church. My mentality
was that Sundays were just another day to study for school.
For the most part I was doing fairly well in my junior year of undergrad studies, but I realized
that I was putting work and my education first before God. I thought I was taking the wrong
path in life. As I was researching different pharmacy schools, I learned that the Loma Linda
University s library was closed on Saturdays due to Sabbath. This inspired me to do the same.
Instead of going to the library and studying all day like I would usually do, I started to go to
church to worship and learn more about the word of God. Even though I studied less by resting on
Sundays for Sabbath, my grades dramatically changed. That year I received straight A s for which I

Domestic Violence And Social Learning Theories
Domestic Violence is a very important issue to look at for people in the relationships as well for
the children. When children see certain behaviors, they see it as normal even though it may not be
normal to other people who did not grow up in an abusive home. The theory that can be used for
children who have been in a domestic violencesituation is social learning theory. The social
learning theory was discovered by Albert Bandura in 1977 (McLeod, 2011). Albert Bandura
corresponds with the behaviorist learning theories of classical and operant conditioning (McLeod,
2011). However, he adds two important ideas: mediating processes occur between stimuli and
responses and behavior is learned from the environment through the process of observational...

When Charlie was playing with toys on the floor, his mother noticed a very aggressive behavior
toward those toys, so she called the doctor to make sure that it was normal for her child to show

reproduction, and motivation (Wheeler, 2014). People learn better when they are focused on a task,
if seeing something being done differently or unusual, then it tends to strike the attention of that
person who is focused (Wheeler, 2014). Retention is affecting information in our memories that
people recall later when needed to respond to a situation that is the same as the first learned
information (Wheeler, 2014). Reproducing prior learned information practices a mental and
physical preparation that improves our responses from the that learned information (Wheeler,

Dreams And Dreams Essay
Dreams, what they mean and what they are, are questions that have long been in the
philosophical discourse, these questions even branching out into the fields psychology and
biology. However, one question about dreams that hasn t been asked is if the dream is a kind of
art, and narrowing it down for the purposes of this paper, if dreams are a kind of fiction. This
question has effects and implications and influences in so many fields of philosophythat answering
it will be kept to the essentials of the argument. In this paper, I will examine the question if a

The next portion is to attempt to define what a fiction is, and here I will use Gregory Currie s
essay What is Fiction? In it, he argues that fictions are engaging in games of make belief, an idea
present in Kendall Walton s Fearing Fictionality article. The main crux of Currie s definition is
intentionality. He argues that the creator of the fiction not only intends to have the audience engage
in games of make belief but that they will also do it as a result of understanding that intention. He
also argues that the creator intends for the reader to make believe the fiction, through the uses of
props, be it the sentences, actors, et cetera. She intends them to make believe the fiction partly as a
recognition of the intent to make believe the work as a fiction. So the audience understands the
work as fiction because they perceive it as fiction. He argues that it can be recognized or perceived
as fiction through the use of advertisement that the work is a fiction, that the work includes
elements familiar to fiction, or that the author can explicitly state that a particular work is a fiction
through deliberate word or stylistic choices. He does make it clear that this intention can go awry,
that the audience and community can misconstrue the intention of the author, and can even go so
far that the community around the fiction attributes the status of fiction towards the fiction,
regardless of the intention of the creator. It is

Understanding The Utility Of A Commodity
A commodity, according to Marx, is an external object that satisfies human wants as a use value
while functioning as an exchange value that enters into exchange with other commodities (303
304). On one hand, the particular properties of an object, made possible by the particular kind of
human labour embodied in it, define the utility of a commodity and hence its use value, which
cannot be measured quantitatively due to the incommensurability across the diverse categories of
utility. On the other hand, the exchange value, determined by the socially necessary labour time
required for producing the commodity (306), establishes quantitative equivalences among the
otherwise incommensurable use values, acting as the only media through which the value of a
commodity, independent of its use value, manifests itself in exchange (305). It follows that to
qualify as a commodity in Marx s definition, an object has to contain human labour in it, must
possess some utility, and finally needs to be able to serve as a use value to others in order for its
value to assert itself in exchange (307 308). Marx contends that while it is trivial to understand a
commodity as the end product of the purposeful alterations of natural material to satisfy a particular
want, a commodity becomes mystical once it enters into exchange to realize its value in the form
of the objectification of human labour (319 320). The peculiarity of such objectification can be
understood in two ways. Firstly,

First, Rapunzel was used as an impact on woman and young girls of the Christian community. The
story was about a girl getting pregnant and being left alone by a prince who wanted nothing to do
with her. This fairy tale was used as a cautionary tale of the dangers of seduction to the ladies,
young and old, of the communities. Second, Mulan, the new version, was used as a way to bring
feminism on a big rise. She was not looking for a way to get a prince, but she was trying to keep
her dad from fighting in a war even though he was injured. Mulan was unlike any princess
anyone had ever seen and it amazed woman and young girls everywhere to take control and
become equal to men. (Weebly) Lastly, the new version of Cinderella was actually used as an
anti feminism story. Released in 1950, the movie came shortly after World War II, a time when
many women took jobs outside the home because the men were away. Moser thinks some of the
aspects of the film were a push to put women back into their supposed place...Rather than make
her own dreams come true, he said, Cinderella waits for others, such as her fairy godmother, to do
the work for her, and trusts that things will turn out right. (Melanson, 2012) These fairy tales

Views Of Lying Research
Parents also lie to children. This is seen and understood by children. They are told about Santa, the
tooth fairy that their dead pet is alive and well and living on a farm, are just some examples of the
lies parents tell in this culture. These lies are told with no intention to harm but attempts to protect,
or indeed to perpetuate our storytelling cultural myths but this clearly sends the message that
sometimes it s ok to lie.

If we believe the negative media view then it is that they all lie as they are bogus and indeed for
some this would be a truth. However, there are reasons to believe, and this will be explored
further in this study, that it may be that this label is unfairly applied. It would be wrong to
assume that all lies are because they are bogus claimants; there are other motivations and types
of lies. In first observation of this practise in Calais it was for those an attempt to protect family
and other migrants from the truth of the painful reality of their situations. So these lies were not
motivated by self gain but in a form of `caring ` for others. I suppose what one would describe as a
white lie.
They lie because they feel that if they told the truth they would not be given asylum even though
they maybe illegitimate claimants with real reasons to fear them being returned. There is also the
belief that the lie is of no harm to anyone and therefore not considered as serious as lies with

The Impact Of Media On Children s Life
Introduction Socialisation is the process an individual experiences to become a unique
individual and an active member of society. Through socialisation, individuals accept and
acquire beliefs, roles, motives, values and behaviours. The process of socialisation is influenced
by many factors including: family, school, peers, location and the media. The impact the media
has on socialisation, particularly in Western countries, is immense, as it has the ability to
influence ideas, opinions, attitudes and images to many people. The media is a macro agent in
socialisation, as it presents people with ideas and generalised views of society from beyond
their micro worlds. Family is another important agent of socialisation, as for most children, their
family is responsible for their initial socialisation process. Families have a major and long
lasting effect on children s lives. The home and the family is the first environment of learning
for the child, where a child s first acquisition of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values begins.
School is another important agent of socialisation. The official purpose of school is to teach
knowledge and life skills. However, students don t just learn from the academic curriculum. In
school, we also learn skills to prepare us to become functional members of society. The focus of
this report is to compare how the agents of socialisation have changed over time. The primary
research conducted was a survey and an interview of people from varied

Protectionism In Australia
On this week s issue of Historians Weekly we re finally going to be starting up our new and
anticipated series Policies of Aboriginal Australia . To start us off I will be looking at the policy
of protectionism and why it was replaced by the policy of Assimilation. The policy of
protectionism was introduced in 1869 and ended in 1937. The policy was established with the
mindset of protecting aboriginal people from white people due to the assumption that they were
dying out. This is known as Social Darwinism, people back then believed that the superior race
(whites) would strive forward and the inferior race (blacks) would eventually die out. The policy
of protectionism gave police the power to separate families and force Aboriginal people to live
on reserves, missions or stations. The terrible living conditions they were forced to live in caused
a lot of physical as well as psychological damage and because of this they did eventually start dying
out to an extent.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each reserve was controlled by a white manager, or by the local police. The managers had
complete control over the lives of the Aboriginal people on the reserves, they basically owned them.
They had no citizenship rights, anything that Aboriginal people owned or earned came underneath
the manager s control. In some States the managers had more control than others, but normally the
reserves were more like a prison or labour camp than a home. Disease and the frontier war had so
destroyed the Indigenous population of Australia that it was believed Aboriginal people were dying
out. The reserves were seen as places for them to die in peace and comfort. The truth of the matter
was that the Indigenous population did not die out, it began to grow again. On the reserves they
were now safe from attacks by white settlers, but this

Philosophies In The 1970s Essay
duction The philosophical ideas of a time often shape the psyche of entire societies. For my
parents generation, intellectual thought and philosophies were more present than ever. The 1970s
through the 1990s were full of people who created new ways of thinking and understanding. So
new ideas that were presented are deconstruction, individualism, liberalism, post modernism, and
others. All of these isms were used to help explain society and certain phenomena. While it is
obvious that these ideas existed and were used at the time, it is less obvious as to the accessibility
of the philosophies to everyday citizens. I asked my parents about the role of these philosophies in
their lives. While they do not speak for all Americans living at the... Show more content on

The ideas and philosophies of a time period help to shape how a society acts and what people care
about. The time period of my parents generation was no different. During the 1970s through the
1990s, intellectual elites were discussing and proposing philosophies to help them understand and
explain the fracturing and confusion of the time. Some of the philosophies included liberalism,
deconstructionism, individualism, and others. While the philosophies were present at the time,
they were not widespread enough to be directly present in my parent s upbringing. Nonetheless,
even though the thoughts my parents had and the philosophies they followed were not officially
one of the isms , they still had intellectual stimulation. They still had observations about the world
and formed their own theories about fracture, or identity, or politics, or any other pertinent issue
of their era. The ideas of the time seeped into their lives in different ways as society reflected
some of the thoughts of the academy. Still, their intellectual development, and the development of
many Americans likely occurred outside of the sphere of the academy and their philosophies.
Whether the refined ideas of the few, or the less specific ideas of the many, intellectual stimulation

How Socio Demographic Factors Influence Income
Summative Report 2
Research Question: How do socio demographic factors influence income in the UK?
Introduction
Socio demographic factors are factors such as age, sex, ethnicity, religion, which affect society and
are present in statistics. These factors have a significant effect on income because a person with a
university degree is able to increase their income as they may look for more specialized jobs in
relevance to their degree thus allowing them to generate higher levels of income in comparison
to somebody who has a lower education level for example GCSE s who would look for jobs in
line with their current qualifications. In order for me to analyse how socio demographic factors
affect income I have chosen to look at 3 independent variables; Education, Gender and Religion to
see the level of statistical significance in relation to income. In terms of a previous literature I have
reviewed different types of literature in order to understand the relationship of these independent
variables to income and have looked at the Theory of human Capital in regards to education by
Becker (2009), theories that discuss the gender pay gap, and also Max Weber s renowned book of
The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism which examines the effect of religiosity in
increasing levels of income amongst Protestants. After exploring this literature I will carry out
Analysis of Variance and Regression; both linear and multiple to see how much of an impact the
variables of Education,

overweight levels in the community of Nueva Luna. This goal would be achieved through
implementation of activities that promote improvements in nutrition, physical activities and support

This means that they do not have enough facilities and most probably the quality of care is poor. I
will, therefore, ask for their views on this to know whether they would want the numbers of health
facilities added.
I will also assess whether they get quality medical services from the two facilities. Additionally, I
will find out if they had ever participated in health promotion and awareness programs organized
by the facilities. Assessing these issues will help me understand the issues that could have been
contributing to the increase in overweight and obesity levels. I plan to assess the above issues by
holding community forums, interviews, surveys and focus groups with the people of Nueva Luna
so that they can get a chance to express their concerns about the named issues. This will involve the
formulation of questions, which will be used as data collection tools.
2.Phase 2
In phase 2 I will assess the epidemiology of the problem. This means assessing the possible causes
of the increase in obesity and the related effects to the community and to individuals. This will be
done through research because this will help in understanding the attributing factors for each
individual. The information can be collected through focused discussions with the community

Undifferentiated marketingThis type of marketing views the market as one group with no segments
therefore using a single marketing strategy. Undifferentiated marketing generally involves targeting
the whole with one product and an undifferentiated marketing can be cheaper that other strategies
because there is only one product to produce. This strategy utilizes a single marketing mix to reach
the maximum number of consumers in the target market selected.
Differentiated marketingHere the marketing strategy targets different market segments with
specific marketing mix, which is designed to meet those segments needs. Differentiated marketing
strategy involves the preparation and communication of different brand and product messages to

The Importance Of Indigenous People In Australia
The role and place of Indigenous Australians in perceptions of national identity is generally
neglected. Contemporary issues among Indigenous people in Australia include racial
discrimination, poor health and access to health services, levels of employment and education
(Hampton Toombs, 2013). The traumatic diaspora of the Stolen Generations and the negative
impacts of racial and economic disadvantage such as segregation and displacement have contributed
to Indigenous peoplesfeeling of mistrust (Queensland Health, 2015). According to Kelly (2013), a
fundamental challenge faced by educators today is planning and teaching for a future where the
tragedies of the past are overcome for Indigenous students. This essay views these topics as
interrelated and discusses them in reference to whole school best practice to support teaching
Indigenous students.
In Australia, educational policies at the Commonwealth level have had set expectations for the
inclusion of Indigenous themes in school curricula for more than two decades (Kelly, 2013).
ACARA has a stated intention of ensuring that all young Australians will be given the opportunity
to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories
and cultures , (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2011), yet Lowe

realities faced by twenty first century learners. It fosters a

Compare The Dream Of The Rood And The Bible
The Dream of the Rood vs. The Bible The Bible has been translated into 451 languages, sold over
6 billion times, and depicted in over 40 movies. The Bible and the crucifixion of the Messiah are
prominent aspects in cultures all around the world today. The death, burial, and resurrection of
Jesus Christ has been translated, dramatized, televised, adapted, and cartooned. In The Dream of
the Rood, translated by R.M. Liuzza, the Biblical cross comes to life to tell its own version of
Christ s death and resurrection. The author recreated the Biblical account to appeal to the Anglo
Saxon warrior group to effectively convert them. However, the story from the cross s perspective
matches the crucial material of the Biblical account of the crucifixion without defaming Christ.
The main variations between the Biblical account and the poem consist of additions to effectively
convert the pagan warriors. Christ himself is depicted as a warrior: Christ ascended on the high
gallows, / brave in the sight of many, when he wanted to / ransom mankind (39 41). In this image,
Christ appears eager to die for the world s sins, which is contradictory to the Biblical account
(introduction). The Bibledescribes Jesusas distressed and records him, saying, Abba, Father, . . .
everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me (Mark 14:33,36). Jesus has no desire to go
to the cross and suffer, but the poem likens him to one of the warriors listening to the tale. Changing

John D. Rockefeller I am writing about John D. Rockefeller. I am going to go into detail about
what he did to build an empire. Also What he invented during his younger years also who he

how he built America. He was born in July 8, 1839 in Richard, New York. Even as a child he was

doing jobs for neighbors. In 1853 John D. Rockefellerand his family moved to Cleveland, Ohio.
John D. Rockefeller went to high school and briefly studied bookkeeping at a commercial

he had too sell and ship grain, cole and other materials. In 1864, Rockefeller married Laura
Celestia Spelman. Her father was a merchant. In 1865 John D. Rockefeller borrowed money to
buy out some of his competitors and take control of the refinery, which became the biggest
growing oil Company in Cleveland. In the next few years he partnered up with other businesses
and expanded his oil industry even more. In 1870 John D. Rockefeller made the Standard Oil
famous with Kerosene. John D. Rockefeller made a monopoly in the oil industry by buying rival
refineries and also developing companies for distributing and marketing its products around the
globe. In 1882 all of these various companies where brought into Standard Oil Company. And

Fever Bliss By Sylvia Plath Analysis
Sylvia Plath s Fever 103В° demonstrates the author s personal difficulty with attempting to cleanse
her purities through the burning fires of hell which happens to be contradicting herself and
explaining how she immediately receives a cathartic release through the fever and emergence of a
new self. Throughout the poem, Plath strives to gain a sense of empowerment and control of her
identity; this identification can be seen in the stanzas through the use of literary devices and sudden
shifts allowing the reader to gain an understanding of the interpretation that the author happens to
be far from pure and aims to achieve pureness through the many literary devices utilized within the
excerpt. Plath interprets the power of fire through metaphors that happen to have a dual force; it can
be seen as constructive and destructive, which enables one to either move towards or further away
from the purest element. The author, Plath, begins her poem with imagery that serves to be both
complex and contradictory she evokes purity as an inanimate object that must be able to purge all
existence of myriad sins. Continuing the poem Plath remarks, the aguey tendon, the sin, the sin (line
7) in order to indicate how the fires of hell, which should theoretically be able to burn her clean
and pure being, are unable to achieve in doing so. Then, adding direct emphasis on how fire has
been depicted through multiple ways, the author uses repetition in the lines that consist of, love,
love, the low smokes roll from me like Isadora s scarves... anchor in the wheel (lines 11 13). Love
has been duplicated in order to echo the sin, the sin in the previous stanzaand this instantly enables
the reader to notice the speed of the changing metaphors that Plath has incorporated within the few
lines; this change is similar to a catastrophic difference, such as radioactive materials to Greek
mythology. This shift neutralizes the feverish poem into a gentle and calming idea of simply
freeing all sins. The original concept of accomplishing purity through the burning fire then shifts to
a rather complex idea of the author s personal difficulties that also involve the world and its natural
disasters. In Plath s view, they [the smoke] will

The Obamacare Act
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare) was signed into law by
President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. While the act is directed at addressing one of the
country s most pressing problems, it generated much controversy as a consequence of the ethical
dilemmas that it brings on. The act provides individuals with a wider range of choices and control
over their health coverage. It provides a series of benefits such as people getting lower costs on
coverage, several important health benefits being covered in the Marketplace, more help in local
areas, and pre existing conditions being covered. However, it also involves a legislation claiming
that most people have to have health coverage by 2014, with those who do not have it having to
pay a fee.
While the Obamacare act has both pros and cons, people are likely to support it or disagree to it
on account of the perspective that they see things from. In spite of the fact that the act involves a
series of benefits, it is difficult and almost impossible for one to ignore the fact that it is likely to
cause a significant shortage of healthcare professionals and that it is also probable to cause an
increase in drug prices.

Data regarding its habitat affinities and population status are lacking. Larvae of Blackburn s
sphinx moth feed on plants in the nightshade family (Solanaceae). The native host plants are trees
within the genus Nothocestrum (aiea) on which the larvae consume leaves, stems, flowers, and
buds. Many of the host plants recorded for this species are not native to the Hawaiian Islands. The
non natives include: commercial tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum), tree tobacco (Nicotiana glauca),
eggplant (Solanum melongena), tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum), and possibly, Jimsonweed
(Datura stramonium). Blackburn s sphinx moth adults have been documented feeding on nectar
of the native Hawaiian morning glory species, Ipomoea indica. The Hawaiian native caper

The eligible employees are allowed to have up to twelve weeks of leave, but it is unpaid.
However, if the employee has sick time, or vacation leave they have not used then that pay could
be applied to their FMLA time off. So, if employee A has stored paid sick, or vacation time, then
the manager is required to pay him for the time that he has been gone. If employee A did not have
any paid leave to take, then it is considered normal FMLA leave an the manager is not required to
pay the employee for any time while gone. So, looking at the situation there has not been a
violation of the FMLA.

his/her age with respect to any term, condition, or privilege of employment, including hiring,
firing, promotion, layoff, compensation, benefits, job assignments, and training (EEOC, 2008).
Because of companies wanting employees that were going to have longevity from their starting
point, or wanting to move the younger people up the corporate ladder, something had to be done
to protect the rights of the older generation. The ADEA protects those rights; it forces employers
to give benefits to employees over forty, it doesn t allow companies to advertise for jobs specifying
an age, or age limit, and it does not allow a company to

Restricting Cell Phones in Public Places
Restricting Cell Phones in Public Places How many times have you seen someone on their cell
phones in a restaurant or in a public environment? There have been so many instances when I
will be out eating with my family and look over at another table and a person will be in deep
conversation on the cell phone, while their family is with them. There are many reasons why
restricting cell phones could have a positive outcome. It can be rude to a family, disrespectful to
the other people that are around that person, and when a family goes out together it should be
family time. First is the fact that it is rude to a person s family. When a family plans an event that
includes going out in public and having a meal together, it is expected by... Show more content on

Eating and talking on the phone or texting is not healthy to a person s digestive system. Stressful
mealtimes can cause medical conditions that can be harmful to a person s health, such as acid
reflux. Taking the cell phones out of a situation will make a person slow down and relax.
Actually enjoy eating a meal; instead of being hurried can be beneficial. Not being able to be on
the phone during a meal can give a person some relaxation time. Some people would argue that
having their cell phone is a necessity to their jobs, but a person has to have some personal time
to enjoy their family and friends, without the disruption of the phone ringing constantly. It is
understandable if it is an emergency and the person needs to answer the phone. Working
constantly is not healthy for their wellbeing. Even if it is another friend calling, it is rude to be
with a person s family and be talking to someone else on the phone. We have become a society
that does not enjoy family time like it needs to. We only have our children for a few short years.
This time should be savored, not taken for granted. I think taking the cell phones out of the
equation would be beneficial for all the people involved. Restricting cell phone usage in public
places can be beneficial to everyone involved. Being on the phone is not only rude and
disrespectful to his or her family members, but also rude to anyone else they are having

Center for Sacramento History Essay
Just like any library, ancient special libraries, also known as archives, where created to preserve
and keep records of specific materials, such as business documents that were written on clay
tablets at that time or papyrus scrolls that were about personal or business matters. At first, general
libraries were mainly focused on providing educational materials for the adult population;
however, libraries have gone through great transformations. Now a days, the libraries purpose has
widened and now they focus on providing any needed information, educational or leisure materials
to people of all ages and types of their communities (Rowland, Collection). Also, now public
libraries have partnerships with school libraries and academic... Show more content on

As for archives, the type of employees that they employ really depends on what does the archive
wants to preserve and collect. For example, according to the Center for Sacramento History official
website, the type of employees that currently work at the history archive center are photographs
archivist, city historian, interpretive specialist, senior reference and government records archivist,
curator of history, manuscripts archives, and a film specialist. Libraries try to expand their
services by offering patrons a wide variety of materials by incorporating statewide borrowing and
statewide licensing of databases into their library (Rowland, Library Archives). Also, libraries
offer children s services, access services, reference and reader s advisory services, bookmobiles,
outreach services, technical services, and a variety of other programs (Fourie, 51). The services
that are offered in an archive or special library, varies depending on what type the archive is. For
example, since the Center for Sacramento History archive collects and preserves historical artifacts
and documents about Sacramento, they hold exhibitions in various places throughout the

The Bigger Race
Racial acrimony, bleak economic prospects, unanticipated troubles, and perhaps destiny test the
mettle of Bigger repeatedly. Bigger s life wades through deliberate experimentations, and it is
through these experiments that Wright detests socio economic consequences of slavery and racism
on African American populace. As Ford states, Wright s major purpose in this novel was to show
that social and economic barriers against racelead to grave injustices toward racial minorities and
that those injustices so distort character and personality growth that criminal monstrosities, such as
Bigger, are produced (89). Bigger and his fellow blacks are prevented from availing economic and
social equality on account of poverty and limited choices that the... Show more content on

So he denied himself and acted tough (NS, 20). Bigger s roughness and toughness were his
shields he uses to prevent himself from entering into his consciousness. Thus, the principal fear
of Bigger was his self knowledge and this, of course, is the title of Part 1 also. The other fears
that make up Bigger s life are byproducts of this basic terror. All of Bigger s actions spring up
from his fear, which is the fear of his race. He hates Whites because he fears them. He knows that
they are responsible for his immobility, his frustration, his inferior social status, so he channels
his hatred and aggression towards other Negroes and thereby, momentarily assuages his ego. He
is afraid, for example, of stealing from a white store keeper, but he feels it is much easier and safer
to rob their own people, for he knew that white policeman never really search diligently for
Blacks who commit crimes against other Blacks. He hates Mary Dalton because he fears she will
jeopardize his job, and he regards all her overtures as efforts to humiliate him. He kills her because
he fears the help he has given her will be

The Negative Effects Of The Barbie Syndrome
Picture yourself as the perfect woman. Embodying every woman s dream. You are undeniably
gorgeous, weighing in at 100 pounds, standing 6 feet tall and holding nearly 150 careers (Barbie
History). This is the inspirational, ever so beloved childhood toy, the perfect Barbie Doll.
Barbie is America s most loved toy, considering many young girls at least owned one or more
Barbies throughout their childhood. These young girls looked up to Barbie as their role model
throughout life, which lead to them comparing themselves to Barbie. The Barbie Syndrome is
an definite culprit of girls persistent desire to strive for perfection. Barbie s unrealistic beauty
and extraordinary lack of diversity has lead to many negative effects within women in today s
society, including a ceaseless desire to be perfect, and overall lower rates of self esteem.
Throughout the years the Barbie Company decided to fix this mistake by creating a plethora of
different Barbies, to try to raise women s self esteem. Starting with Barbie s debut, she has been
influencing young girls perceptions of beauty, when in reality Barbie s body, measures 18 33 39
(waist, hips, bust),which would be unable to bear a children, and she would have been unable to
hold up her own neck and back . Also in reality, she would have been disproportioned and need to
crawl on all fours to get to place. Regardless of popular belief, it seems as if Barbie is not perfect
after all, and has flaws like any human being.

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Ford s Assassination
On September 8, 1974, President Gerald Ford delivered a speech that stunned the nation. Thirty
days after former President Richard Nixon s resignation from office due to the infamous
Watergate scandal, President Ford chose to pardon him of any wrongdoing. This decision was
extremely unpopular with the general public. For the most part, the public believed that Nixon
needed to receive some form of punishment for his actions. President Ford knew this and
delivered his speech in an attempt to explain his unpopular decision and quell the response.
However, President Ford failed in his goal. While President Ford established his credibility and
effectively appealed to the listener s emotions, he failed to logically support his reasoning,
relying too much an emotional appeal. President Ford establishes his credibility by voicing his
good intent and stating his powers as president. In his speech, President Ford repeatedly states
that the decision was hard for him to make, saying, in this office . . . the difficult decisions always
come to this desk . He also makes it clear that he had sought such guidance and searched my own...

suggests that the possibility of punishment hangs like a sword over our former President s head,
threatening his health . When mentioning the potential indictment and trial of Nixon, President
Ford says that Nixon would be cruelly and excessively penalized in preserving the presumption of
his innocence . . . instead of enjoying equal treatment with any other citizen . In addition, President
Ford claims that his concern is the immediate future of this great country and that his decision will
proclaim domestic tranquility . All in all, President Ford effectively builds up emotional support for

Explain Three Affirmative Origins Of The American Revolution
There are three affirmative origins of the American Revolution between 1760 and 1776 that
affected American colonist. The first one was the proclamation of 1763. The second one that
stands out was the stamp act of 1765 by King George III. Finally, in 1770 the horrendous murder
of colonist was known as the Boston massacre. Parliament issued the proclamation of 1763 also
known as the proclamation line. This infuriated the colonist by restricting land movement from
going west of the Appalachian Mountains. It also created conflict with the colonist that had to give
up their hoes and farmland to move east. This restriction only allowed licensed traders to travel
west and make deals with the Indians. In 1765 King George III issued the stamp act.

Valued for their arching, green fronds and beautiful trunks, Palms are always an eye catching garden feature. In the warmer regions, Palms can be used to create a garden with rich, tropical atmosphere. There are hundreds of varieties to choose from, with a fascinating array of foliage forms. Palms also have attractive trunks, often with patterned or peeling bark, that makes them an ideal backdrop for other plants in the garden. The area at the base of Palms is the perfect spot for growing smaller shrubs, annuals and perennials which bring color and form to the garden. For this garden design the following plants and Palms have been used: Miniature Date Palm: The dwarf Palm with arching, glossy, deep greenfronds grows to a height and spread of 3 meters. It has an elegant, slender trunk and produces black fruits in autumn. • 3. Comparison Between Community Quilts And The Quilt Comparison of community quilts The quilt that was created to represent my community encompassed the people and things that are central to my life. As a recent transplant to Colorado, I have not developed a strong sense of community so I have become accustomed to my family supports that are located throughout United States. First I would like to explain some images and symbols in my quilt which will help with the comparison of the community quilt made for the Strive Smart Preparatory School. My quilt has the central figures of my daughter and I, whom I hold dearly and is the most important person in my life. The surrounding images are my love of travel, seeing parts of the world that I always dreamed about and my curiosity of other cultures. The image of a chameleon is a trait of my personality and the ability to adapt to different environments and challenges. The dragon slayer is an ultra ego figure that I envision myself as being courageous; there are two figures in the image, which I see my daughter (Chelsea) as being with the aid of her mother. The two images of a hutch back and graphic of China devouring the world is my artwork, created to express opinions of environmental destruction, which is further convey by the Apple symbol at the top with the green leaves budding from the earth. Lastly is the symbol for my love of music. I grew up listening to a wide range of music from classic rock to rhythm and blues (R B). I appreciate having listened to a good base of music ... • 4. The Mis Education Of The Negro The Mis Education of the Negro in Review Carter G Woodson, the oldest of nine in a poor coal mining family found his love of learning early. Earning a Masters degree only one year after earning a bachelor s degree, he quickly followed in the footsteps of great minds and earned his PhD from Harvard University. He had a very well rounded and multifaceted educational journey according to the text, but felt most connected to furthering the pursuit of excellence for all African Americans through the creation of journals, organizations, and eventually continuing on in higher education with the African Americanin mind. He is credited with Black History week. In light of the time in history wherein he flourished, it is fitting that he was part of the movement that resulted in the creation of the NAACP (iv v). In short, he objectively appears to single handedly be the father of the African American social awareness movement. In this particular body of work, Woodson discusses many issues that arose and mistakes made (and appear to still be relevant) in the educating of people of color. One such issue and summary discussed, is the disdain the learned African American develops for his fellow less formally educated African American brother, for himself, and for life in general because he has been estranged by a vision of ideals...he can not attain (6). He must exist in a social body that he must not associate with socially, and yet has no alternative. The self hate that is taught, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The, A Linguistic Anthropologist, There Are Many... As a linguistic anthropologist, there are many inferences we can make about the type of place this lost tribe lived based on a few key phrases in their language. For instance, we can infer that because they have no word for ocean, they lived in an environment that was inland. Based on the statement that the only terrain this tribe knew of was absolutely flat, rolling and slightly hilly, we can presume two conclusions: They were not aware of mountains, and they had a small radius of land in which they traveled. If one travels in any direction for a long enough time, one is bound to find either an ocean or a mountain, so the fact they did not know what either of these were insinuates that they may not have traveled very much. A reason for this could be that they wanted to preserve the climate they had. If you combine the information that says dozens of words exist for grain, including eight for wheat alone, that they had no words for beef, pork, veal, leather or mutton, and that there are several words for precipitation, most of which translate to rain, we can presume that it is likely that they may not have traveled from their home land very much, because they did not know if there would be rain in places they would travel to. Rain may have been a key element to their survival, so they did not want to leave a place that had it. Building upon the presumptions I have made, I will attempt to analyze what this lost tribes values and beliefs may have been. As I said previously, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A CASA provides a voice for children during the juvenile court system. As children move from one foster home to the next, consumed by the legal system they are too young to understand; a CASA becomes the one constant these children have. CASA provides a helping hand to these children; they are fundamentally an extra set of eyes and ears for these children. By getting to know the child, understanding his or her needs, a CASA advocates and helps find the best permanent home for the child. Each of the three parts of this definition, encoding, storage, and retrieval represents a different process. You can think od these processes as being analogous to a computer s emotion (encoding), hard drive (storage), and software that accesses the information for display on the screen. A momentary flash of lightning the sound of the twig snapping and the sting of a pinprick all represent stimulation of exceedingly brief duration but the may nonetheless provide important information that can require a response. In it, he argues that fictions are engaging in games of make belief, an idea present in Kendall Walton s Fearing Fictionality article. The main crux of Currie s definition is intentionality. He argues that the creator of the fiction not only intends to have the audience engage in games of make belief but that they will also do it as a result of understanding that intention. He also argues that the creator intends for the reader to make believe the fiction, through the uses of props, be it the sentences, actors, et cetera. She intends them to make believe the fiction partly as a recognition of the intent to make believe the work as a fiction. So the audience understands the work as fiction because they perceive it as fiction. He argues that it can be recognized or perceived as fiction through the use of advertisement that the work is a fiction, that the work includes elements familiar to fiction, or that the author can explicitly state that a particular work is a fiction through deliberate word or stylistic choices. He does make it clear that this intention can go awry, that the audience and community can misconstrue the intention of the author, and can even go so far that the community around the fiction attributes the status of fiction towards the fiction, regardless of the intention of the creator. • 20. Understanding The Utility Of A Commodity A commodity, according to Marx, is an external object that satisfies human wants as a use value while functioning as an exchange value that enters into exchange with other commodities (303 304). On one hand, the particular properties of an object, made possible by the particular kind of human labour embodied in it, define the utility of a commodity and hence its use value, which cannot be measured quantitatively due to the incommensurability across the diverse categories of utility. On the other hand, the exchange value, determined by the socially necessary labour time required for producing the commodity (306), establishes quantitative equivalences among the otherwise incommensurable use values, acting as the only media through which the value of a commodity, independent of its use value, manifests itself in exchange (305). It follows that to qualify as a commodity in Marx s definition, an object has to contain human labour in it, must possess some utility, and finally needs to be able to serve as a use value to others in order for its value to assert itself in exchange (307 308). Marx contends that while it is trivial to understand a commodity as the end product of the purposeful alterations of natural material to satisfy a particular want, a commodity becomes mystical once it enters into exchange to realize its value in the form of the objectification of human labour (319 320). The peculiarity of such objectification can be understood in two ways. Firstly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through socialisation, individuals accept and acquire beliefs, roles, motives, values and behaviours. The process of socialisation is influenced by many factors including: family, school, peers, location and the media. The impact the media has on socialisation, particularly in Western countries, is immense, as it has the ability to influence ideas, opinions, attitudes and images to many people. This is known as Social Darwinism, people back then believed that the superior race (whites) would strive forward and the inferior race (blacks) would eventually die out. The policy of protectionism gave police the power to separate families and force Aboriginal people to live on reserves, missions or stations. • 27. How Socio Demographic Factors Influence Income Summative Report 2 Research Question: How do socio demographic factors influence income in the UK? Introduction Socio demographic factors are factors such as age, sex, ethnicity, religion, which affect society and are present in statistics. These factors have a significant effect on income because a person with a university degree is able to increase their income as they may look for more specialized jobs in relevance to their degree thus allowing them to generate higher levels of income in comparison to somebody who has a lower education level for example GCSE s who would look for jobs in line with their current qualifications. In order for me to analyse how socio demographic factors affect income I have chosen to look at 3 independent variables; Education, Gender and Religion to see the level of statistical significance in relation to income. In terms of a previous literature I have reviewed different types of literature in order to understand the relationship of these independent variables to income and have looked at the Theory of human Capital in regards to education by Becker (2009), theories that discuss the gender pay gap, and also Max Weber s renowned book of The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism which examines the effect of religiosity in increasing levels of income amongst Protestants. After exploring this literature I will carry out Analysis of Variance and Regression; both linear and multiple to see how much of an impact the variables of Education, ... Assessing these issues will help me understand the issues that could have been contributing to the increase in overweight and obesity levels. I plan to assess the above issues by holding community forums, interviews, surveys and focus groups with the people of Nueva Luna so that they can get a chance to express their concerns about the named issues. This will involve the formulation of questions, which will be used as data collection tools. 2.Phase 2 In phase 2 I will assess the epidemiology of the problem. This means assessing the possible causes of the increase in obesity and the related effects to the community and to individuals. • 35. The Importance Of Indigenous People In Australia The role and place of Indigenous Australians in perceptions of national identity is generally neglected. Contemporary issues among Indigenous people in Australia include racial discrimination, poor health and access to health services, levels of employment and education (Hampton Toombs, 2013). The traumatic diaspora of the Stolen Generations and the negative impacts of racial and economic disadvantage such as segregation and displacement have contributed to Indigenous peoplesfeeling of mistrust (Queensland Health, 2015). According to Kelly (2013), a fundamental challenge faced by educators today is planning and teaching for a future where the tragedies of the past are overcome for Indigenous students. This essay views these topics as interrelated and discusses them in reference to whole school best practice to support teaching Indigenous students. In Australia, educational policies at the Commonwealth level have had set expectations for the inclusion of Indigenous themes in school curricula for more than two decades (Kelly, 2013). • 36. Compare The Dream Of The Rood And The Bible The Dream of the Rood vs. The Bible The Bible has been translated into 451 languages, sold over 6 billion times, and depicted in over 40 movies. The Bible and the crucifixion of the Messiah are prominent aspects in cultures all around the world today. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ has been translated, dramatized, televised, adapted, and cartooned. In The Dream of the Rood, translated by R.M. Liuzza, the Biblical cross comes to life to tell its own version of Christ s death and resurrection. The author recreated the Biblical account to appeal to the Anglo Saxon warrior group to effectively convert them. However, the story from the cross s perspective matches the crucial material of the Biblical account of the crucifixion without defaming Christ. The main variations between the Biblical account and the poem consist of additions to effectively convert the pagan warriors. Christ himself is depicted as a warrior: Christ ascended on the high gallows, / brave in the sight of many, when he wanted to / ransom mankind (39 41). In this image, Christ appears eager to die for the world s sins, which is contradictory to the Biblical account (introduction). The Bibledescribes Jesusas distressed and records him, saying, Abba, Father, . . . everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me (Mark 14:33,36). Jesus has no desire to go to the cross and suffer, but the poem likens him to one of the warriors listening to the tale. Changing Christ s demeanor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Fever Bliss By Sylvia Plath Analysis Sylvia Plath s Fever 103В° demonstrates the author s personal difficulty with attempting to cleanse her purities through the burning fires of hell which happens to be contradicting herself and explaining how she immediately receives a cathartic release through the fever and emergence of a new self. Throughout the poem, Plath strives to gain a sense of empowerment and control of her identity; this identification can be seen in the stanzas through the use of literary devices and sudden shifts allowing the reader to gain an understanding of the interpretation that the author happens to be far from pure and aims to achieve pureness through the many literary devices utilized within the excerpt. Plath interprets the power of fire through metaphors that happen to have a dual force; it can be seen as constructive and destructive, which enables one to either move towards or further away from the purest element. The author, Plath, begins her poem with imagery that serves to be both complex and contradictory she evokes purity as an inanimate object that must be able to purge all existence of myriad sins. Continuing the poem Plath remarks, the aguey tendon, the sin, the sin (line 7) in order to indicate how the fires of hell, which should theoretically be able to burn her clean and pure being, are unable to achieve in doing so. Then, adding direct emphasis on how fire has been depicted through multiple ways, the author uses repetition in the lines that consist of, love, love, the low smokes roll from me like Isadora s scarves... anchor in the wheel (lines 11 13). Love has been duplicated in order to echo the sin, the sin in the previous stanzaand this instantly enables the reader to notice the speed of the changing metaphors that Plath has incorporated within the few lines; this change is similar to a catastrophic difference, such as radioactive materials to Greek mythology. This shift neutralizes the feverish poem into a gentle and calming idea of simply freeing all sins. The original concept of accomplishing purity through the burning fire then shifts to a rather complex idea of the author s personal difficulties that also involve the world and its natural disasters. Obamacare) was signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. While the act is directed at addressing one of the country s most pressing problems, it generated much controversy as a consequence of the ethical dilemmas that it brings on. The act provides individuals with a wider range of choices and control over their health coverage. It provides a series of benefits such as people getting lower costs on coverage, several important health benefits being covered in the Marketplace, more help in local areas, and pre existing conditions being covered. However, it also involves a legislation claiming that most people have to have health coverage by 2014, with those who do not have it having to pay a fee. While the Obamacare act has both pros and cons, people are likely to support it or disagree to it on account of the perspective that they see things from. In spite of the fact that the act involves a series of benefits, it is difficult and almost impossible for one to ignore the fact that it is likely to cause a significant shortage of healthcare professionals and that it is also probable to cause an increase in drug prices.
