Here are a few reasons why Chris McCandless should not be viewed as a hero based on the events in Into the Wild:
1. He went into the Alaskan wilderness completely unprepared. He had very little survival skills or experience living off the land. Going into such an extreme environment with no real training was reckless.
2. He took unnecessary risks with his life. For example, eating the wrong plants that ended up poisoning him. As the main character in the story, he should have been more careful about identifying edible plants.
3. His actions endangered potential rescuers. When he got stranded, he had no way to signal for help. Rescuers had to spend a lot of time and
