Cultural Difference Argument Is Not A Sound One
In this paper I will discuss Cultural Relativism and argue that the cultural difference argument is not a
sound one, because its premise does not prove or disprove its conclusion. Further, I will use this to
prove that morals can be objectively true and do not have to change on a culture to culture basis.
Cultural Relativism theorizes the nature of morality and whether moral truths are correct even if they
are not agreed on across all cultures. The outline of the Cultural Differences Argument is that we argue
from facts about the differences between cultural outlooks and then we conclude something about the
status of morality from this argument . Overall each of these moral arguments is built upon one
fundamental outline which claims that (1) Different cultures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This argument claims that we are not allowed to condemn another culture just because it is different
from our own. While it is an interesting idea to be tolerant and accepting of all choices from other
cultures, it is just not plausible. It is an acceptance which leads to no growth in society and results in
the inability to also criticize the negative aspects of a society. For example, if we agreed that each
culture has the right to believe and do as they please without outside interference, then we would not
be able to criticize slavery or anti semitism because they are just the thoughts of that culture. If we
were unable to criticize these fundamentally wrong ideas then there would be no growth in culture
since we would be unable to disconnect our society from morally incorrect thoughts and move them
on to better ideas. This thought that one s culture is always correct in its opinions not only makes it
impossible for one to criticize another culture, but it also makes it impossible for one to criticize their

A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation
A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation
Hinduism is a vast and very complex religion to comprehend and consists of various different
branches of philosophies. Although it is considered that Hinduism does not necessarily have one text
that provides the guidelines for the contemporary Hindu devotee, like the Bible does for Christians,
but there are a few scriptures that help identify the ultimate goal for the followers of Hinduism. The
Upanishads try to exemplify the message of obtaining the righteous path as much as possible with
rooting its context to the most ancient Hindu text, the Vedas. Tying both of these scriptures together
the main purpose of a practicing Hindu is laid out; which is being able to obtain moksha, or liberation,

Even though accepting the Advaita Vedanta means that there is no classification of male or female
amongst people, it still sets a barrier for women because according to the Dharmasharstras, women
were unfit to learn Vedic rituals and studies which are key requirements of sannyasa (Khandelwal
2004: 37). Herein lies the most significant deviation from the classical perspective of renunciation in
modernity; most contemporary female renouncers, also referred to as sannyasinis, have broken out of
a tradition that is characterized by the renunciation of rituals. They therefore have effectively
redefined renunciation on their own terms. Like most classical renouncers, sannyasinis also build
vairgya and have completely detachment from worldly materials. But unlike the classical renunciation
where a renouncer would go off to the forest and be by himself, the modern day female renouncers
have become more involved in social activism (Khandelwal 2004: 49). This is a clear alteration from
the classical renouncer because now the female renouncers are participating in a form of actions which
is still continue their cycle of karma, whereas the end goal is to stop exactly that according to the
classical practices. In Khandelwal s book Women in Ochre Robes, she uses various examples of how
different women are using types of social activism throughout their practices.

William Shakespeare s King Arthur And His Knights Of The...
King Arthur
Are woman in the Arthurian legend depicted? The answer is found in King Arthur and his Knights of
The Round Table by Roger Lancelyn Green. The woman in the Arthurian legend were depicted
because they are tempting, cheaters, and liars.
The first example of the woman being tempting would be :
It seemed as if the horse was going to carry him right into the midst of the flood. Percivale tugged at
the bridle, but the horse would neither stop nor turn: to the very edge they came, and Percivale saw the
dark, foaming water roaring in front of him. Them he made the sign of the cross, and the horse reared
up suddenly, neighing wildly, and shook him from its back; then it plunged into the river, screaming
terribly, and was gone from sight; only it seemed that the water burnt after it (p. 250).
This quote shows that the woman the gave Sir Percivale the dark horse put upon a curse the horse. The
woman was a test to Sir Percivale so he shall not be tempted along his journey to the Holy Grail.
The second example of the woman being tempting is:
Sir, she mummered, noble Percivale, I am yours for ever and ever; of all men in the world I love only
you. So kiss me now; pledge me in this bowl of wine, and swear that henceforth you will be mine
alone, and do all things that I command you. Then Percivale pledged her in the strong wine, and bent
forward to kiss her on the lips. But as he did so he thought suddenly of Blanchefleur his own true lady

Day 3: 6:00 am Since I went to bed so early last night, I woke up more of an appetite and ready to eat.
I had an big breakfast from the hotel buffet of sausage, ham, eggs, cheese, biscuits, and of course earl

I did a tour of the British museum on Great Russell street. Because we had studied the industrial
revolution in class I decided to focus on the exhibit about it. Like the digital revolution that is
happening now the industrial revolution of the 19th century changed the way people live and work.
The industrial revolution changed agriculture, shipping, industry, and the British economic system.
The exhibit titled the industrial revolution and the changing face of Britain. This exhibit showed how
technology impacted the way people lived. New tools made farming easier. Mass production by the
use of new machines made more supplies available like food, clothing, and entertainment items. Cities

Origin And Nature Of Anthrax
Origin and nature The earliest appearance of Anthrax occurred around 700 BC mostly affecting cattle,
sheep, horses, and oxen. The people of Egypt and Mesopotamia at the time called it the 5th plague and
the name Anthrax derives from the word coal, similar to the black skin leisures it produces. The first
clinical cases of Anthrax were described around 1752 and 1769 by Maret and Fournier respectively
(Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Scientist Robert Koch was the first to study
Bacillus anthracis in a clinical setting, in 1877 he developed the first microbial etiology. It was in the
1800 s that Anthrax was titled the woolsorters disease due to its relation with animal hair or wool from
sheep (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Bacillus anthracis is an aerobic, spore
forming, nonmotile, monomorphic bacteria with little to no genetic diversity. Anthrax spores are able
to lay dormant for long periods of time allowing it to survive more than 40 years in the soil, 80 years
in a vial, and 200 years in bones (Friedlander, 336). Bacillus anthracis is therefore known as a risk
group 3 organism (Agren et al., 2014). This is part of what makes Anthrax such a risk, but more
commonly Anthrax contamination in the soil only lasts for a few months and rarely for more than a
few years when microbial competition exists in that soil (Friedlander, 336). It was without this
information that traders, shipped infected sheep, cattle and other animals around

Siddhartha Answers
Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse Study Guide Questions
The Brahmin s Son
1. Siddhartha is characterized to be not only a well known character in the area he lives in, but a
beloved one as well. Siddhartha is the perfect person in his parents, Govinda s, and many others eyes
as he is a master of meditation, a handsome person born into the religious group of the area, and is
well mannered. However, despite his perfections , he is not satisfied with who he is.
2. Govinda, for a lack of a better term, is essentially in love with everything about Siddhartha. The
book mentions all about how Siddhartha is loved by Govinda, who loves his eyes, his voice, his walk
(his movement actually), and most of all, he loves his friend s spirit. In a sense, Siddhartha is Govinda
s beloved one because the latter wants to follow his friend to the very end, and be his shadow ... Show

Siddhartha is afraid that if he continues to stay and follow in his father s religion, he will not find love,
happiness, or spiritual satisfaction for himself. He believes that despite the love his parents have for
him despite the love Govinda has for him he would not be satisfied.
4. In the novel, the wise men explain that the Self cannot be found in the body physically or mentally,
but rather spiritually. The Self is found deep within oneself and is characterized to be the whole world.
However, it is possible that the wise men are hinting, not explicitly telling, that in order to find Atman,
or the universal soul, is to experience it through trial rather than learn from scriptures, or be taught
specifically.
5. Eventually Siddhartha concludes that peace is not something that could be taught or achieved by
living a safe and blissful life. As he watches the Samanas, he eventually concludes to himself that
peace can only be found once one faces true suffering. Once suffering is occurred, only then can inner
peace be found within oneself. Not only that, there must be a necessary thirst in order to find

The Summary Of Air France Flight 447
Air France Flight 447 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Paris, France Incident Summary The following
information is based on the findings of the BEA (Bureau d Enquêtes et d Analyses) (2012); On May
31, 2009, Air France flight 447, an Airbus A330, took off from Rio de Janeiro enroute to Paris, France.
After a normal departure the crew climbed to their cruising altitude of FL350. The captain was
designated as the pilot monitoring (not flying) and the first officer was the pilot flying. About 3 hours
into the flight the crew noticed some weather ahead and began to encounter slight turbulence. Due to
performance limitation on the aircraft the crew was unable to climb above the weather. The turbulence
increased slightly as the flight continued, but less than 10 minutes later the turbulence stopped. Once
clear of the turbulence the captain woke the second first officer to take his place. The captain stayed
while the first officer briefed the second officer, then exited the cockpit. The first officer (pilot flying)
occupied the left seat, while the second officer (pilot monitoring) occupied the right seat. Shortly there
after, the turbulence increased slightly. The first officer and second officer made the decision to slow
from Mach 0.82 to Mach 0.80 and to turn about 12 degrees left of course. About two minutes later the
autopilot and auto thrust disconnected. As the first officer took the controls the aircraft began to roll
right, so he rolled the aircraft to the left and pitched up.

Perry And Bussey s Theory Of Sex Essay
Perry and Bussey s (1979) study was motivated as a rebuttal to Maccoby and Jacklin s (1974) claim
that research and studies done up until then failed to give significant support to the theory that sex
differentials based on same sex model imitation as a mechanism for sex role development was
unimportant. Perry and Bussey contended this notion on two fronts. They repute current design
models used to test imitation of same sex models, stating that children are oftentimes given a single
stranger as a role model, male or female, who preform mundane tasks and are then tested for imitation
of the model s response (Perry and Bussey, 1979, p.1700). This is nowhere near reminiscent of real
life scenarios in which a child has multiple examples of both same and opposite sex models to
compare and contrast sex appropriate social and cultural responses. They also re examined how
children code sex typing displays into long term memory by looking at how children respond to
models they found themselves to be similar to. To that end, Perry and Bussey set up two related
experiments that where designed to determine a) how might a child s endorsement of an item be
influenced by the frequencies with which same versus opposite sex models display similar preferences
and b) does the child imitate said same sex model more often when they believe the model s behavior
is appropriate due to a clear indication that the model is behaving typically for his or her sex. In the
first experiment Perry

1.The first option is to forget about job rotation in this unit. As mentioned in the text and explained
clearly deciding to forget about job rotation in this unit is a bad idea. As mentioned in the text of
Moroccan Lights company it explains that employees after several years working in the same
company and at the same job created a monotonous feeling within the company, therefore not taking
job rotation into account would engender or promote employees burnout and reduce their motivation
for working. As in todays business world, human ressources department became fundamental in any
company as nowadays employees satisfaction and their moral state have a lot of pros as it is a
considerable factor for overall productivity. In conclusion forgetting about job rotation is a bad
decision to choose as it will represent that the company does not consider or take into account

Why Is Hadrian Important
Hadrian
Emperor Hadrian was the 14th Emperor of Rome between 117 138 CE, Hadrian is also known as the
3rd of 5 good emperors. Born in Hispania like Trajan Hadrian came into power as an Emperor after
being adopted by Trajan s wife. Historians believe that one reason for the adoption was the ethnicity
that Hadrian and Trajan shared. At an early age Hadrian like Trajan joined the army and became a
tribune under the command of emperor Nerva. When Nerva died Trajan took the throne and when
Trajan died Hadrian took the throne. Hadrian s popularity in Rome was attested as Hadrian spent the
better part of his reign absent from Rome. Professor D. Brendan Nagle writes, Hadrian spent most of

the rotunda is more reminiscent of the roman public bathhouses. The rotunda is made of brick and the

presents the building with a colonnade of 8 Corinthian columns that tower 11.8 m high. The column

Fashion Illustration Essay
Illustration is an art that allows to create an amazing aesthetics that is hard to remake or achieve with
the same aesthetic value using digital technologies or photography because of the emotional
atmosphere, transfer of mood of the work of art and detailed visualization of images. The term
illustration itself has a several meanings, but the most known is art design . In the past, illustration due
to its characteristics been only associated with books and magazines as a support for a text. However,
as the time passed illustration became an individual type of art that no longer need to play a
supporting role for anything. This evolution leads illustration forward to the division of a broader term
into narrower subtopics, which introduced the creation of fashion illustration. From that point, it was
clear that fashion illustration is one of the oldest and most important movements in the history of
illustration. Through the time, it has always had a touch with graphic design and fine arts, it has an
undeniable influence on fashion and vice versa. Right now, it is possible to recognize another story of
fashion by them because they reflect an individual and not a group view on it, unlike in photography.
Throughout history, the artists through their works have tried to push the boundaries of our perception,

Columbine High School Shooting Analysis
After seventeen school shootings already this year, Americans seem to know the routine. They see the
news of another shooting , wonder what the world has come to, tweet out their thoughts and prayers,
and move on with their lives as though nothing happened. Some politicians will propose reforms, but
opposers will shoot them down by claiming that we must wait until long after the tragedy to talk about
politics. With an average of 1.4 shootings per week this year, when will it not seem too soon (Ahmed).
In his book Columbine, author Dave Cullen takes a look at one of America s most infamous tragedies,
the Columbine High School Massacre. In the April of 1999, two boys entered Columbine High with
deadly weapons and proceeded to kill fourteen of their peers, as well as injure others. As the first

One important change implemented was how law enforcement responds to an active school shooter.
Officers today understand that they must enter the building immediately and move towards the shooter
(Sanchez). By learning from the mistakes of the officers at Columbine who set up a perimeter and let
the attack to continue, officers now know that to save more lives they must enter the building as soon
as they can. Schools also seem better equipped to handle these scenarios. Students undergo annual
intruder drills, schools provide law enforcement with building layouts, and if a shooting occurs
schools have systems to keep students and teachers informed of what is happening (Cullen). Students
prepare for what actions they should take if necessary. Unlike the victims of Columbine, today s
students have learned how to protect themselves during a shooting. By taking a look at what allowed
Columbine to become so deadly, and analyzing how they could have handled things better, America
could take new measures in helping prevent

is too early to reach any judgements on the implications the new cosmology has for both science and
religion. Our image of the origin of the universe is not yet complete and further investigations must be
conducted before the towel is thrown in. Science has still much to offer to help us understand how the

The idea that the universe had an origin was a result of the discovery of the expansionary universe.[vi]
The theoretical groundwork for the expansionary universe theory was conceived, ironically, by Albert
Einstein (a firm believer in the infinite and unchanging universe) in his work concerning relativity.

a project manager for Pizza Delivery Quickly, your main concern is about monitoring the established
metrics that can alert a project is heading for distress. The project manager must be able to analyze the
situation, revise the goals, evaluate the different options and be able to revise the plan as needed.
Metrics can facilitate the tracking system, which is essential for evaluating the current project

The Legacy Of Abraham Lincoln Essay
Abraham Lincoln is a name most commonly associated with our country s Civil War and the abolition
of slavery. When one thinks of this name, one usually envision s his tall, slender physique and that
iconic tall black hat. His face can usually be seen with a look of concern and depth in his eyes. This
man faced not only guiding his country through a state of grave danger, but also terrible tragedies that
would destabilize his personal life. Lincoln would come to lose two of his children (the third died after
Lincoln s assassination), doubt his wife s sanity, and lose his own life. Yet in spite of these personal
struggles, Lincoln immersed himself in his work, and shattered expectations to go down in history as
one of America s greatest presidents.
Lincoln, born in Kentucky, was mostly self educated. Even at a young age, Lincoln was no stranger to
devastation. His mother, Nancy Lincoln, died of milk poisoning when Lincoln was only 9 years old.
This left his sister, Sarah, aged 11, to look after the family. Lincoln s father remarried eventually, and
Abraham took to his stepmother kindly. His sister Sarah died during childbirth in 1828, and greatly
affected him. Some believe that this is when his depression first began to surface. He became engaged
to Mary Todd in 1840. After Lincoln broke off the engagement for unknown reasons, the two
rekindled their relationship and married in 1842. Robert Todd Lincoln was then born in 1843, Edward

The Pros And Cons Of The Hollandish Roulette System
The Hollandish roulette system (like the Martingale and the Labouchere system,it a negative

Like these other systems, this is generally played out on the even payout wagers (red/dark etc).
The huge difference would be that the Hollandish is a lesser risk system it is a lot less competitive
than the Martingale. The primary approach to calming things down , is to separated your procedure
into mini consultations of 3 spins. This basic idea of splitting up your guess progression has spawned
a number of systems

You could still get trapped within an increasing guess spiral if your luck is not operating your way.
Could be sluggish to grind through the known levels.
Example
Here is a good example of a Hollandish collection we played lately. Notice, we began on 2 (you can
multiple the essential series by whatever you want, so 1,3,5,7,9 becomes 2,6,10,14,18 etc.
This method can be an example of a poor development system like the Martingale or D Alembert,
therefore you boost your wagers size following a damage is manufactured by you. However, there are

Reliability Analysis
Some researchers argue that the cost of spares is always an area where cost reduction can be of
significant. With the help of suppliers and equipment vendors, purchasing department can place orders
in the form of contracts or Service level agreement (SLA) that guarantee delivery lead times for the
designated inventory items. It makes business sense to shift the risk concerning the cost of
maintaining the inventory to the suppliers. Reliability is the probability that the plant will perform its
intended function satisfactory under specified environmental and operating conditions (British
standard, 2012). Reliability is the probability that the system is operating satisfactory at any given

Yan et al (2008) Ebeling (1997), pointed out the purpose of maintenance is to extend equipment life
and minimise the frequency of service interruption. Ebeling (1997) concluded that availability is the
important index of the all indices for power availability. Several maintenance types or tactics have
been suggested by many authors for example (Mowbray, 1991 and Kelly, 1997). There are mainly two
types of maintenance practices and these are breakdown and preventive maintenance. Breakdown
maintenance requires replacement of damaged part of the equipment during unscheduled maintenance
while preventive maintenance requires replacement of the components at pre determined intervals.
Condition based maintenance is used to monitor the condition of the equipment using condition
monitoring technique.
There is a general belief that corrective maintenance is less economical than preventive maintenance,
and all failures can then be prevented. This approach to preventive maintenance firstly wastes a lot of
resources in doing unnecessary tasks which will not improve equipment or system availability and
secondly it is potentially risk (Tsang,1995).Principal argument in favour of detailed and integrated

10472 Zip Code
The most recent census data available for the 10472 zip code area is the 2014 American Community
Survey. The 10472 zip code is located in the Soundview section of the South Bronx. This zip code
covers the northern area of Soundview, before the Bruckner Expressway. It is part of New York s 15th
congressional district, it s known for being the smallest and poorest congressional district in the US.
The 15th congressional district makes up for the majority of the Bronx, for this reason some of the
information presented will be compared to the Bronx borough and 15th congressional district census
data.
The demographics of Soundview residents has changed over the course of its existence, a trend that
occurs for New York City neighborhoods. The Bronx River is at the eastern borders of Soundview,
making a great settlement for its first dweller. The natives of the area were the Siwanoy tribe, they
were settled along bodies of water near New York City (Jackson, 1995). Therefore, the tribe settled
near the Bronx River up until the area became a point of interest for Dutch and English colonization
(Jackson, 1995). There was a constant struggle for the area, and the tensions led to the Siwanoy leave
the area. It might be one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Most people have an educational attainment of a high school graduate level or below, which could be

and zip code 10472 are almost similar but again the area has a low rate. The Bronx borough has a
18.3% population with a Bachelor s degree or higher, while there is only 11.7% for zip code 10472. It
is a relatively small amount considering the large amount of young people living there, reported in

Bureaucracy In The Military
The military is not a bureaucracy in and of itself, but contains bureaucracy. In fact, it is around 90%
bureaucracy, by pure manpower numbers. Let me come back to that.
A simpler way to think of what is a bureaucracy is to think of what is a bureaucrat: a bureaucrat is any
person in a secondary or tertiary function within an organization. For example, in an architectural
firm, you have principal architects, staff architects, intern architects, accountants, and administrators (I
am ignoring the CA and PM functions for this example). All of the architects primarily do design
work, that is the function of the firm. The principals also do some marketing, which is really a
secondary function, so they are part bureaucrat and part functionary. The ... Show more content on

We want people to enforce rules set up by the laws created by congress, and we want them to be
objective, so we set up hiring rules, you can t just hire your brother, cousin, friend, whomever, you
must go through a strict process. We want a bureaucracy that is essentially a political, specifically
NOT beholden to the ruling party (everyone has political preferences, but we do not want the
bureaucracy to be politically motivated). We want the rules to be followed objectively, so you can t tell
food processing plant A that their process is unsafe or unhealthy, but plant B can use that process just
because your brother, cousin, friend, or whomever, works there. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.
We live in a democracy, where the government must answer to the people. This means someone has to
sit down and make reports about how money is being spent, or how effective a program is; we want
oversight and audits to ensure the money is spent the way it is being reported, that programs are being
administered objectively; we want to ensure that no one bureaucrat has too much power. All these
things mean we have to hire people whose job is something other than the primary function of
government, so we have layers of bureaucracy providing oversight, buffers, checks, and

Women in Civil War
Women, Slaves, and Free Blacks in the Civil War What roles did the Northern women play in the war
effort on the Union side during the Civil War? What roles did the Southern women play in the war
effort on the Confederate side during the Civil War? How did the war affect each group? There were
just shy of 400 documented cases of women who served as soldiers during the Civil War, according to
the records of the Sanitary Commission. (Brown, 2012) Women during the 19th century, according to
Historian Barbara Welters were hostage of the home . (Brown, 2012) Women were considered what
we know now as home wives, without really the option of doing anything outside of the home. When
the Civil War began, that meant that men left home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were others that were about of the regiments in which the male relative was serving. These

(Middle Tennessee State University Teaching with Primary Sources, 2015) In my own opinion I
believe the war had a great effect on the women of both the North and the South. Without them, I don
t believe there would have been enough nurses to have saved the men they did and there wouldn t
have been anything at home for all left on the home front. Because of the war, we have great
American History about women and the impact they had on the Civil War and after. Which I believe
led to a huge part of the Women s Rights Movement. What roles did the Black slaves play in the Civil
War? What roles did the free Blacks play in the Civil War? How did the war affect each group? It took
a clear and dire urging from the beloved General Robert E. Lee to convince the Confederate Congress
to begin enlisting black soldiers. (Civil War Trust, 2015) Black men had tried to volunteer their
services to the Union but because of President Lincoln being afraid of what it would do to the white
men s morale, he rejected the blacks from volunteering for the war. However, in saying that, it did
changed. President Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation, which stated All persons held as

What Does Henry Fleming Symbolize In The Red Badge Of Courage
John Tunis exposes Henry Fleming s true nature and emotions through examples of motif and
symbolism in his novel The Red Badge of Courage.
Although there are several different motifs in this novel, two main ones that I noticed are: the idea of
becoming a man, or the coming of age, and the constant them of courage. Although the amount of
time from the beginning of the book to the end is only a couple of days, the amount of character
development within Henry is tremendous. At the beginning Henry is a boy who romanticizes and
fantasizes about battles and war, as stated in the first chapter, He had, of course, dreamed of battles all
his life of vague and bloody conflicts that had thrilled him with their sweep and fire. In visions he had
seen himself in many struggles... (P. 5). But, at the end of the book he is a man who has experienced
the real gore and grit of war and as he walks away from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One of the most popular examples of this literary device is the use of wounds, more specifically the
red badge of courage and what it really represents. In regards to Henry s guilt Tunis narrates, At times
he regarded the wounded soldiers in an envious way. He conceived persons with torn bodies to be
peculiarly happy. He wished that he, too, had a wound, a red badge of courage. (p. 55) I found this
quote quite profound and selfish of Henry at first. Henry was not injured, and was that not a blessing?
But taking closer consideration I realized that the fact that he did not have a wound to show on the
outside of his body injured his pride quite a lot. He wanted a wound to prove that he had fought
bravely and courageously for his country and for his men, instead of running from battle. The red
badge of courage symbolizes that a soldier had fought and sacrificed themselves to protect their
country and men most importantly, it proves this to other people. And, not having a red badge of
courage made Henry feel

Essay about Love
Love Love is difficult to define, difficult to measure, and difficult to understand. Love is what great
writers write about, great singers sing about, and great philosophers ponder. Love is a powerful
emotion, for which there is no wrong definition, for it suits each and every person differently. Whether
love is between family, friends, or lovers, it is an overwhelming emotion that can be experienced in
many different ways. People experience love for the first time by being part of a family. Family love is
demonstrated through lessons of sacrifice, concern and compassion, from the cradle to the grave.
There are many different levels and conditions of family love. It is the love we cherish between our
intermediate family and our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A close knit loving bond between two people can begin with a friendship. Whether it is a friendship
between two males, two females, or one male and one female, these friendships will develop into love.
In no way is it a romantic love, but this type of love connects and bonds friends. Friends may move
away or friendships may wane, but the love between the two people burns on forever. Romantic love
is a love that not every person will experience. It is a type of love that is not there at the beginning, but
grows within the individual. When one finally finds the love they have been looking for, one can not
imagine life with anybody else. Romantic love is a connection between two souls that is captured with
a feeling that is not only felt within the heart but within their body as well. I have never been in love
with a girl; I can only imagine what it might be like to be in love. Guessing from my sister s
relationship with boys, it seems like a big headache instead of a wonderful feeling. To simply write a
definition of love is complicated because every person has a different perception of love. The only
way to capture the true meaning of love is to experience the feeling and find out for oneself, what love
is. In our lives and the lives of others, love is evident. Whether it is between family, friends, or lovers,
love is a precious

The Construction Of The Mythical Troy In Homer s Iliad
First, the city found by the German amateur archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann in the North of Turkey
matches the description of Troy found in Homer s Iliad perfectly. For example, gates wide enough for
two chariots , described in the Iliad, were found on the site, as well as the thick walls that could have
withstand ten years of siege. However, there was some doubt about this city being the mythical Troy,
because what was found by Schliemann was far too small to endure a long siege, but it was later
discovered that what Schliemann had found was only a small fraction of this city during the Bronze
Age. This city, found at the edge of Turkey in the Aegean sea, was big enough for two to four
thousand people, proven by the ditches found by _______,

Chemical Imbalances In The Brain
Depression is more than the normal ups and downs; it is a serious illness that can affect anybody, at
any age. Depression affects teenagers and even adults in many ways. Everyone experiences
unhappiness and sadness occasionally. When the depressing feelings start to take over everyday life
without a recent loss or trauma and cause physical and mental deterioration, they become what is
known as depression. About 5% of adolescents in the general population suffer from depression. It is
the world s number one psychological disorder. Some research has indicated that chemical imbalances
in the brain cause depression. Scientists think that a lack in serotonin may cause the sleep problems,
irritability, and anxiety associated with depression.
Depression is being seen in more children and teenagers. It strikes as many as 2.5 % of children and
8.3 % of teenagers in the United States today. The recent research published in Pediatrics examined
psychosocial issues in thousands of children ranging from ages 4 to 15. Low grade depression or
dysthymia can begin during childhood or teenage years. While full blown depression most often starts
in middle adulthood. Within five years of experiencing major depression, 20 to 40 % of teenagers are
most likely to develop bipolar disorder

The people with major depression in their immediate family are up to three times more vulnerable to

will never know to exactly what extent they influence the president s choice of action, but they help us
in understanding some of the foreign policy decisions. Going beyond the individual to the
expectations of the position, the role consideration plays an influential domestic part in the response to

midst of this rampant industrial development and economic progression among third world countries
in the 21st century. ( The Economy Vs. Environment Debate, n.d.) There seemingly appears to be

  • 2. Cultural Difference Argument Is Not A Sound One In this paper I will discuss Cultural Relativism and argue that the cultural difference argument is not a sound one, because its premise does not prove or disprove its conclusion. Further, I will use this to prove that morals can be objectively true and do not have to change on a culture to culture basis. Cultural Relativism theorizes the nature of morality and whether moral truths are correct even if they are not agreed on across all cultures. The outline of the Cultural Differences Argument is that we argue from facts about the differences between cultural outlooks and then we conclude something about the status of morality from this argument . Overall each of these moral arguments is built upon one fundamental outline which claims that (1) Different cultures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This argument claims that we are not allowed to condemn another culture just because it is different from our own. While it is an interesting idea to be tolerant and accepting of all choices from other cultures, it is just not plausible. It is an acceptance which leads to no growth in society and results in the inability to also criticize the negative aspects of a society. For example, if we agreed that each culture has the right to believe and do as they please without outside interference, then we would not be able to criticize slavery or anti semitism because they are just the thoughts of that culture. If we were unable to criticize these fundamentally wrong ideas then there would be no growth in culture since we would be unable to disconnect our society from morally incorrect thoughts and move them on to better ideas. This thought that one s culture is always correct in its opinions not only makes it impossible for one to criticize another culture, but it also makes it impossible for one to criticize their own ... • 3. A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation A Modern Twist on Classical Renunciation Hinduism is a vast and very complex religion to comprehend and consists of various different branches of philosophies. Although it is considered that Hinduism does not necessarily have one text that provides the guidelines for the contemporary Hindu devotee, like the Bible does for Christians, but there are a few scriptures that help identify the ultimate goal for the followers of Hinduism. The Upanishads try to exemplify the message of obtaining the righteous path as much as possible with rooting its context to the most ancient Hindu text, the Vedas. Tying both of these scriptures together the main purpose of a practicing Hindu is laid out; which is being able to obtain moksha, or liberation, from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though accepting the Advaita Vedanta means that there is no classification of male or female amongst people, it still sets a barrier for women because according to the Dharmasharstras, women were unfit to learn Vedic rituals and studies which are key requirements of sannyasa (Khandelwal 2004: 37). Herein lies the most significant deviation from the classical perspective of renunciation in modernity; most contemporary female renouncers, also referred to as sannyasinis, have broken out of a tradition that is characterized by the renunciation of rituals. They therefore have effectively redefined renunciation on their own terms. Like most classical renouncers, sannyasinis also build vairgya and have completely detachment from worldly materials. But unlike the classical renunciation where a renouncer would go off to the forest and be by himself, the modern day female renouncers have become more involved in social activism (Khandelwal 2004: 49). This is a clear alteration from the classical renouncer because now the female renouncers are participating in a form of actions which is still continue their cycle of karma, whereas the end goal is to stop exactly that according to the classical practices. In Khandelwal s book Women in Ochre Robes, she uses various examples of how different women are using types of social activism throughout their practices. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. William Shakespeare s King Arthur And His Knights Of The... King Arthur Are woman in the Arthurian legend depicted? The answer is found in King Arthur and his Knights of The Round Table by Roger Lancelyn Green. The woman in the Arthurian legend were depicted because they are tempting, cheaters, and liars. The first example of the woman being tempting would be : It seemed as if the horse was going to carry him right into the midst of the flood. Percivale tugged at the bridle, but the horse would neither stop nor turn: to the very edge they came, and Percivale saw the dark, foaming water roaring in front of him. Them he made the sign of the cross, and the horse reared up suddenly, neighing wildly, and shook him from its back; then it plunged into the river, screaming terribly, and was gone from sight; only it seemed that the water burnt after it (p. 250). This quote shows that the woman the gave Sir Percivale the dark horse put upon a curse the horse. The woman was a test to Sir Percivale so he shall not be tempted along his journey to the Holy Grail. The second example of the woman being tempting is: Sir, she mummered, noble Percivale, I am yours for ever and ever; of all men in the world I love only you. So kiss me now; pledge me in this bowl of wine, and swear that henceforth you will be mine alone, and do all things that I command you. Then Percivale pledged her in the strong wine, and bent forward to kiss her on the lips. But as he did so he thought suddenly of Blanchefleur his own true lady and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Origin And Nature Of Anthrax Origin and nature The earliest appearance of Anthrax occurred around 700 BC mostly affecting cattle, sheep, horses, and oxen. The people of Egypt and Mesopotamia at the time called it the 5th plague and the name Anthrax derives from the word coal, similar to the black skin leisures it produces. The first clinical cases of Anthrax were described around 1752 and 1769 by Maret and Fournier respectively (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Scientist Robert Koch was the first to study Bacillus anthracis in a clinical setting, in 1877 he developed the first microbial etiology. It was in the 1800 s that Anthrax was titled the woolsorters disease due to its relation with animal hair or wool from sheep (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016). Bacillus anthracis is an aerobic, spore forming, nonmotile, monomorphic bacteria with little to no genetic diversity. Anthrax spores are able to lay dormant for long periods of time allowing it to survive more than 40 years in the soil, 80 years in a vial, and 200 years in bones (Friedlander, 336). Bacillus anthracis is therefore known as a risk group 3 organism (Agren et al., 2014). This is part of what makes Anthrax such a risk, but more commonly Anthrax contamination in the soil only lasts for a few months and rarely for more than a few years when microbial competition exists in that soil (Friedlander, 336). • 7. Siddhartha Answers Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse Study Guide Questions The Brahmin s Son 1. Siddhartha is characterized to be not only a well known character in the area he lives in, but a beloved one as well. Siddhartha is the perfect person in his parents, Govinda s, and many others eyes as he is a master of meditation, a handsome person born into the religious group of the area, and is well mannered. However, despite his perfections , he is not satisfied with who he is. 2. Govinda, for a lack of a better term, is essentially in love with everything about Siddhartha. The book mentions all about how Siddhartha is loved by Govinda, who loves his eyes, his voice, his walk (his movement actually), and most of all, he loves his friend s spirit. In the novel, the wise men explain that the Self cannot be found in the body physically or mentally, but rather spiritually. The Self is found deep within oneself and is characterized to be the whole world. However, it is possible that the wise men are hinting, not explicitly telling, that in order to find Atman, or the universal soul, is to experience it through trial rather than learn from scriptures, or be taught specifically. 5. Eventually Siddhartha concludes that peace is not something that could be taught or achieved by living a safe and blissful life. As he watches the Samanas, he eventually concludes to himself that peace can only be found once one faces true suffering. Once suffering is occurred, only then can inner peace be found within oneself. Not only that, there must be a necessary thirst in order to find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After a normal departure the crew climbed to their cruising altitude of FL350. The captain was designated as the pilot monitoring (not flying) and the first officer was the pilot flying. About 3 hours into the flight the crew noticed some weather ahead and began to encounter slight turbulence. Due to performance limitation on the aircraft the crew was unable to climb above the weather. The turbulence increased slightly as the flight continued, but less than 10 minutes later the turbulence stopped. Once clear of the turbulence the captain woke the second first officer to take his place. The captain stayed while the first officer briefed the second officer, then exited the cockpit. The first officer (pilot flying) occupied the left seat, while the second officer (pilot monitoring) occupied the right seat. Shortly there after, the turbulence increased slightly. The first officer and second officer made the decision to slow from Mach 0.82 to Mach 0.80 and to turn about 12 degrees left of course. About two minutes later the autopilot and auto thrust disconnected. As the first officer took the controls the aircraft began to roll right, so he rolled the aircraft to the left and pitched up. ... • 9. Perry And Bussey s Theory Of Sex Essay Perry and Bussey s (1979) study was motivated as a rebuttal to Maccoby and Jacklin s (1974) claim that research and studies done up until then failed to give significant support to the theory that sex differentials based on same sex model imitation as a mechanism for sex role development was unimportant. Perry and Bussey contended this notion on two fronts. They repute current design models used to test imitation of same sex models, stating that children are oftentimes given a single stranger as a role model, male or female, who preform mundane tasks and are then tested for imitation of the model s response (Perry and Bussey, 1979, p.1700). This is nowhere near reminiscent of real life scenarios in which a child has multiple examples of both same and opposite sex models to compare and contrast sex appropriate social and cultural responses. They also re examined how children code sex typing displays into long term memory by looking at how children respond to models they found themselves to be similar to. To that end, Perry and Bussey set up two related experiments that where designed to determine a) how might a child s endorsement of an item be influenced by the frequencies with which same versus opposite sex models display similar preferences and b) does the child imitate said same sex model more often when they believe the model s behavior is appropriate due to a clear indication that the model is behaving typically for his or her sex. Fashion Illustration Essay Illustration is an art that allows to create an amazing aesthetics that is hard to remake or achieve with the same aesthetic value using digital technologies or photography because of the emotional atmosphere, transfer of mood of the work of art and detailed visualization of images. The term illustration itself has a several meanings, but the most known is art design . With an average of 1.4 shootings per week this year, when will it not seem too soon (Ahmed). In his book Columbine, author Dave Cullen takes a look at one of America s most infamous tragedies, the Columbine High School Massacre. • 18. The Legacy Of Abraham Lincoln Essay Abraham Lincoln is a name most commonly associated with our country s Civil War and the abolition of slavery. When one thinks of this name, one usually envision s his tall, slender physique and that iconic tall black hat. His face can usually be seen with a look of concern and depth in his eyes. This man faced not only guiding his country through a state of grave danger, but also terrible tragedies that would destabilize his personal life. Lincoln would come to lose two of his children (the third died after Lincoln s assassination), doubt his wife s sanity, and lose his own life. Yet in spite of these personal struggles, Lincoln immersed himself in his work, and shattered expectations to go down in history as one of America s greatest presidents. Lincoln, born in Kentucky, was mostly self educated. Even at a young age, Lincoln was no stranger to devastation. His mother, Nancy Lincoln, died of milk poisoning when Lincoln was only 9 years old. This left his sister, Sarah, aged 11, to look after the family. Lincoln s father remarried eventually, and Abraham took to his stepmother kindly. His sister Sarah died during childbirth in 1828, and greatly affected him. Some believe that this is when his depression first began to surface. He became engaged to Mary Todd in 1840. After Lincoln broke off the engagement for unknown reasons, the two rekindled their relationship and married in 1842. Robert Todd Lincoln was then born in 1843, Edward Baker Lincoln (called ... The Pros And Cons Of The Hollandish Roulette System The Hollandish roulette system (like the Martingale and the Labouchere system,it a negative progression system where you boost your bets following a reduction to claw back again to earnings). Like these other systems, this is generally played out on the even payout wagers (red/dark etc). The huge difference would be that the Hollandish is a lesser risk system it is a lot less competitive than the Martingale. The primary approach to calming things down , is to separated your procedure into mini consultations of 3 spins. However, there are several differences, too. The very first thing you should know about this interesting system is that the development it uses is determined by what size your initial guess is. Presuming you guess ?1 to start out with it appears the following: 1,3,5,7,9 For larger original bets, double it simply. A starting guess of ?2 would give you2,6,10,14,18 Like other negative development systems, when you make a profitable gamble you go back to the beginning again simply, so you will not be gambling with huge amounts of your winnings. Several maintenance types or tactics have been suggested by many authors for example (Mowbray, 1991 and Kelly, 1997). There are mainly two types of maintenance practices and these are breakdown and preventive maintenance. Breakdown maintenance requires replacement of damaged part of the equipment during unscheduled maintenance while preventive maintenance requires replacement of the components at pre determined intervals. Condition based maintenance is used to monitor the condition of the equipment using condition monitoring technique. There is a general belief that corrective maintenance is less economical than preventive maintenance, and all failures can then be prevented. This approach to preventive maintenance firstly wastes a lot of resources in doing unnecessary tasks which will not improve equipment or system availability and secondly it is potentially risk (Tsang,1995).Principal argument in favour of detailed and integrated asset information system that is accurate and unchallenged information is available to anyone with skills to analyse and interpret it for the benefit of a company (Sherwin, 2000).Predictive scheduling relies more on ... Let me come back to that. A simpler way to think of what is a bureaucracy is to think of what is a bureaucrat: a bureaucrat is any person in a secondary or tertiary function within an organization. For example, in an architectural firm, you have principal architects, staff architects, intern architects, accountants, and administrators (I am ignoring the CA and PM functions for this example). All of the architects primarily do design work, that is the function of the firm. The principals also do some marketing, which is really a secondary function, so they are part bureaucrat and part functionary. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And that is just the tip of the iceberg. We live in a democracy, where the government must answer to the people. This means someone has to sit down and make reports about how money is being spent, or how effective a program is; we want oversight and audits to ensure the money is spent the way it is being reported, that programs are being administered objectively; we want to ensure that no one bureaucrat has too much power. What Does Henry Fleming Symbolize In The Red Badge Of Courage John Tunis exposes Henry Fleming s true nature and emotions through examples of motif and symbolism in his novel The Red Badge of Courage. Although there are several different motifs in this novel, two main ones that I noticed are: the idea of becoming a man, or the coming of age, and the constant them of courage. Although the amount of time from the beginning of the book to the end is only a couple of days, the amount of character development within Henry is tremendous. At the beginning Henry is a boy who romanticizes and fantasizes about battles and war, as stated in the first chapter, He had, of course, dreamed of battles all his life of vague and bloody conflicts that had thrilled him with their sweep and fire. He wished that he, too, had a wound, a red badge of courage. (p. 55) I found this quote quite profound and selfish of Henry at first. Henry was not injured, and was that not a blessing? But taking closer consideration I realized that the fact that he did not have a wound to show on the outside of his body injured his pride quite a lot. He wanted a wound to prove that he had fought bravely and courageously for his country and for his men, instead of running from battle. The red badge of courage symbolizes that a soldier had fought and sacrificed themselves to protect their country and men most importantly, it proves this to other people.
