The Pros And Cons Of Voting
One example of registration laws that effect voter participation includes the House Bill 1355. In 2011
Florida voted on House Bill 1355 placing new regulations on community organization that have
helped eligible voters to register (Herron, Smith 2013). Seeing as Florida is a swing state and every
four years during presidential elections the state and its residents can determine who will be the next
president of the United States, it s important for communities and organizations to mobilize the people
to go out and vote. Although a federal judge in 2012 later blocked the legislation that was making it
difficult for third party registration organizations the damage was already done. For a prominent
voting organization opted out of doing registration drives when the House Bill 1355 was initially
passed (Herron, Smith). The implementation of the Bill influenced the upcoming presidential election
in 2012 by slowing the voter registration of thousands of Floridians. Bills like the 2011 House Bill
1355 only raises the cost in the rational choice model making it only more probable that people will
just opt out of voting because they don t want to deal with the time consuming process. When
registering to vote one must adhere to the states laws and comply with the process of registration.
Because each state has their own legislation and laws that their residents must follow, it crucial for
people to get some information on the state registration process in order to vote.

Possible Gas Recovery From Darvaza Crater
Possible Gas Recovery from Darvaza Crater
Introduction Near a small village named Darweze (Darvaza in Russian meaning gate), there is a
burning crater named as DOOR TO HELL or HELL S GATE. In 1971 (when Turkmenistan was a part
of Soviet Union) a group of Soviet geologists and engineers found a huge reservoir of natural gas,
which was later found to be fifth largest in the world. A drilling rig was setup to extract it.
Unfortunately, due to primitive technology survey of the ground was not proper. So the rig was setup
on an underground cavern, which later collapsed and left a huge crater in its place. The crater was 200
feet wide and 66 feet deep. Before collapsing the rig had already digged a hole in the caprock, as a
result methane gas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the help of modern technology he became the first (and only) human to descend in the hole.
During his adventure he wore a fire proof suit. From the pit he took a sample of soil (which was rich
in extremophile bacteria). While digging the soil he found that fire was coming out the digged hole.
He and his team stated that on earth there is no other place like this. Now, the hole is expanding and is
said to reach 230 meters in width.
Abstract In Turkmenistan, there is a burning crater named as DOOR TO HELL. In 1971 some Soviet
geologists and engineers had found one of the largest reservoir of natural gas. They set up a rig and
started extracting it. Unfortunately the ground under the rig collapsed leaving a huge 200 meter wide
crater. From it methane gas started leaking. Fearing the pollution in local area and dangers to local
population they decided to burn it. According to them it could be burned within a few days but it is
still burning. In 2010 President of Turkmenistan ordered to close it but due to lack of facilities it could
not been done. In 2013 adventurer and explorer George Kourounis got the permission to go inside the
crater. After a brief study of this, need of further research was found. Seismic survey (3d or 4d if
possible) should be done to predict the amount of natural gas left in the reservoir. Huge amount of
methane is mostly found under the sea bed (under very high temperature). Hence methane under the
crater is not formed there (in desert). Its

Globalizatons and Cherokees
Globalization has caused extreme change on the Cherokee ways of life, institutions, customs and
traditions. The Cherokee people are incorporating more and more of their past traditions in to their
institutions way of life in a means of trying to preserve them in this every changing world. Once a
culture of people that held high their beliefs and way of life was nearly an extinct culture after the
European, and colonization forced these people out of their land. It is important to see look at the
affects that globalization has on the Cherokee people because looking at this we can see how
globalization affects human dignity both in a positive manner and in a negative manner.
The education institutions that are on the boundary give the Cherokee children the right to self
fulfillment; it does this by providing them with the right education to go to college or so on if they
wish. The school has incorporated ideas from all over to make sure that their children have the best
possible education that they can get to survive and thrive in the modern world today. Our culture has
played a huge impact on how they view technology. Our culture is constantly obsessing over the
newest and greatest technology, because of this there are tons of jobs in this field. The Cherokee
schools teach children as early as elementary school how to work with different technology to give
them a head start in the culture that surrounds them so that they can keep at a solid pace with us.

Research Paper On The United Kingdom
Country Overview
The United Kingdom is an island nation off the western coast of Europe, comprised of the four nations
of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. With a total population of 64.4 million people over
nearly 242,000 sq. kilometers, the United Kingdom (commonly shortened to the UK) is the fourth
most densely populated country in Europe. The majority of the population is centered around a few
cores, most notably the capital of London. Other major population centers include Manchester,
Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool. (All facts and figures in the above paragraph are from the
United States Central Intelligence Agency.)
The majority language spoken in the UK is English, although with some variations in spelling and
vocabulary from the English spoken in the United States. Some regional languages exist, such as
Gaelic, Scots, or Cornish. The currency of the United Kingdom is the British Pound. The current
conversion of the British Pound to the U.S. Dollar is 1 GBP = 1.2236 USD (Bird).
Culture and Customs
The population make up is similar to that of the United States and Canada. The majority of the
population identifies as white, with a descending percentage of minority ethnicities or nationalities.
While people in the United Kingdom are generally accepting of various religions it would still be best
to avoid this topic of conversation. Negative past events can make for uncomfortable, or even hostile,
emotions. It is also wise to avoid discussing politics

The Importance Of Website Research Project
An on site research team member will be recruited to assist the PI with the study. After obtaining the
permission from the special education supervisor, the PI will verbally ask for volunteers the special
education department. Interested staff members will complete the IRB training. The applied behavior
analyst who works at the study site has indicated interest to assist with the proposed study. This staff
member had volunteered as a team member for the pilot study, which was conducted in January 2017
(Pingale Fletcher, 2017).
Prior to the beginning of the study, the PI will conduct a thirty minute training session for the research
team member on data collection and documentation procedures. Video clips from You Tube on
children playing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These videos will be selected randomly. The PI and the research team member will watch each video
recording independent of each other and document frequencies or durations of the target behaviors
using the data collection form. The PI and the research team member will meet after watching each
video clip to compare the scores and discuss discrepancies in the scores. The scoring criteria for the
target behaviors that did not reach ≥ 90% interrater agreement will be discussed and the operational
definitions of the target behaviors will be clarified if necessary.
Data Analysis
The data for each participant will be plotted by the phase and visually analyzed for the stability, level,
variation, and trend. Visual analysis is the primary data analysis method used for single subject
designs (Olive Smith, 2005; Portney Watkins, 2000). In single subject designs, the research
hypotheses are tested by analyzing the adjacent phases for a level, trend, and slope. Change in a level
refers to change in the value or magnitude of a performance of the dependent variable. Trend is the
direction of change of a target behavior within a phase and the slope of the trend is the rate of change
within the data (Portney Watkins, 2000)
The mean or average value of the target behaviors for adjacent phases will be compared for this study.
Since variability in the data influences the slope of a trend, a celeration line will be used to estimate
the trend for each phase. The split

The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian...
The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian War
Ancient Greece during 4th Century BC was home to the city states of Sparta and Athens, who during
this time were the superpowers of the region. The Peloponnesian war between these city states and
their respective allies lasted from 431 404 BC, although conflicts between the two had dated back
further. Major fighting in the war occurred from 431 421 and ended in Athenian victory. However,
renewed conflict raged between 413 and 404 which resulted in Spartan victory.
The Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta evolved from a string of events which I am going
to look at to see if there was a single cause for this war.
In 435 BC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Potidaea was a member of the Delian League, Athens and her allies, it had maintained the
right to receive magistrates from its mother city every year. Tired of paying tribute to Athens and
resentful of Athenian rule the citizens of Potidaea supported a revolt to expel Athenian power.
Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to
aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any
appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the
Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war.
Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta)
made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the
Peloponnesian war.
After the Persian wars, there was a development of Athenian control when the Delian league was
formed which was an alliance of cities based around Athens. Each city contributed funds to help

Youth Criminal Justice System
New Brunswick s rate of youth criminally charged has been decreasing ever since the introduction of
Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) in 2002. However, a decade has passed with still no progress on
lowering the number of youth sent to pretrial and secure custody, which is disproportionately high
compared to other provinces. The Office of the Child and Youth Advocate s More Less Court report
identifies issues such as this and offers solutions to the problems with New Brunswick s youth justice
system. Vulnerable youth being caught up in the justice system and improvements on diverting youth
from the criminal justice system are among other withstanding issues that will also be touched upon.

Skin And Skin Contact Between A Mother And Her Baby
Skin to Skin Contact
The power of first impressions is well known. None may be more significant than the first experiences
of a newborn baby exiting mother s womb. My first impression of life outside the womb, the welcome
reception we all receive immediately after birth, may color our perceptions of life as difficult or easy,
hostile or safe, painful or comforting, frightening or reassuring, cold and lonely or warm and
welcoming for a lifetime and this day was no exception as I had the opportunity to witness a vaginal
delivery for the first time in my life. However, in this teaching project, I will talk about early skin to

Vulgarity In Shakespeare s Cholera
Quoth Shakespeare, Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! (3.2.1). Although bodily humour possesses a
somewhat foul reputation, it appears amongst the works of the greatest and most sophisticated minds
in literary canon to include the Bard himself. Although Peter Smith notes that Victorian literature
seems to shy away from this obscenity, it nonetheless provides examples of the lewd, and Father
Thames Introducing his Offspring to the Fair City of London offers this vulgarity in spades (12 13). In
1858, the periodical Punch published the above image in response to three primary factors: firstly, the
era during which the river Thames faced severe pollution and emitted a horrendous odor, known as the
Great Stink; secondly, an outbreak of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Exemplifying this humourous reduction of status, Cholera thusly produces quite the comedic figure,
with its hunched physicality and the expression of anguish upon its face; of course, owing to the
disease which it represents, its visage and posture inherently call to mind an image of the coprological,
and therefore of the gleefully disgusting body.
In addition to the depiction of Cholera, the figure of Father Thames and the shaping of his body elicits
a sense of the scatalogical as well; rather than possessing a humanoid form akin to the other characters
in the comic, Father Thames cuts an indistinct, lumpy figure that appears to ooze humorously into the
water around him. It seems that the artist intended to evoke an image rather more distasteful than an
anthropomorphized river, and in doing so beckoned our sense of superiority not only by trivializing
the figure of Father Thames, but by dehumanizing him. In his book On Humour, Simon Critchley
emphasizes the particular comedy of invoking this unsavoury subhumanity, writing, the body returns
in laughter in the form of an eruptive, animal physicality (Critchley 46 47). This vaguely fecal and
inhuman perception of Father Thames expresses itself moreover in two notable ways: firstly, by the
cultural awareness of the sewage that inundated the

My Love For Reading
At this point in my life, reading would definitely not make a list of my favorite things to do, but this
wasn t always the case. Some of my youngest memories involve reading, and many of these memories
are enjoyable. Every night before bed my mom would read to me, and I remember begging to read just
one more before she tucked me in almost every night. This is when my love for reading sparked.
Throughout grade school, I continued to read frequently and never found it to be a chore; however,
once middle school hit I no longer included reading as a past time or found it pleasurable. Looking
back now I realize this was when English class included more forced literature, and school consisted
of reading extensive pages in textbooks. Reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The more I was being forced to read, the less time I spent reading for enjoyment, until eventually I no
longer spent any of my free time with a novel in hand. Reading became a chore; it became boring.
Sometimes the simple act of being forced to do something makes you despise it. As a child, I enjoyed
several different genres of novels and many different topics intrigued me, so it wasn t necessarily what
I was reading that disinterested me. One required novel I remember reading was The Outsiders in
seventh grade. This was a type of book I feel I would normally enjoy because of the mystery and
action; however, I couldn t bring myself to truly become engaged in this novel. Reason being it was a
forced act, with multiple worksheets and homework to accompany the reading. Fast forward to high
school when I m reading my required lengths in an anatomy and physiology textbook. Science has
always been an interest of mine; in fact, I m now majoring in Human Physiology. Yet reading this text
wasn t something I enjoyed. Again, because it felt forced; it was not something I was doing simply out
of interest. This is how I continue to feel about most of the reading I do today as a college student.
Although reading literature when being forced and for educational purposes has withered my once
love of reading, I can still vividly remember where my love of reading began. My comfy living room

The Role of Genes in the Development of Behavior Essay
The Role of Genes in the Development of Behavior The debate concerning the influence of genes on
human behavior has been on going for centuries. The nature vs. nurture (or heredity Vs. environment)
debates are one of the longest running, and most controversial, both inside and outside psychology. It
is concerned with some of the most fundamental questions a human being could ask, such as Why are
we they way we are? and why do we develop as we do? Historically this debate has been fought from
extreme perspectives, arguing that it is either nature (an individuals heredity genetic make up), or
nurture (the environmental influences upon an individual) that determine a person s behavior.
However in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With philosophical thinkers such as the John Locke, who believed that at birth the human mind is
tabula rasa, a blank slate that is gradually filled with experience. On the other hand, the French
philosopher Rene Descartes, was a seventeenth century nativist who believed that knowledge of the
world was largely innate or inborn and that nature (heredity) determined certain abilities and
capacities. Popular in the eighteenth century was the philosophy of Jean Jacques Rousseau who
claimed that children should be free to develop as nature dictates. However towards the beginning of
the nineteenth century the heredity thesis was more dominant but then again the dominant opinion
swung to the environmental perspective by the middle of the century. The Canadian psychologist, D.
O. Hebb in 1949[1] argued that there was too much misunderstanding on the subject because two
separate facts had not been recognised. Firstly, that because we have the biological ability to form cell
assemblies that allow us to store memories and solve problems, we therefore have the innate ability to
form cell assemblies. However the second fact is that although we have this ability, we may not
necessarily be able to do so to the fullest extent, depending on the environment that may either help or

How far do these sources suggest that young Henry VIII was an impressive figure as a king?
In the 16th century an impressive figure of a king would mean that he demonstrated power both
physically and economically and a good education. However as source two suggests, Henry might be
considered less than impressive as he shows insecurities. A stronger argument though is that Henry did
demonstrate the features of an impressive king as he had all the attributes listed above which is clear
from all three sources.
It might be inferred that Henry was less than impressive as he was clearly insecure. Source two shows
Henry seeking to compare favourability with his rival king Francis I of France. He persistently asks

Source one implies that Henry is a very rich and powerful king as it shows us spending time practicing
his archery with his guards. The king was practicing archery in the garden with the archers of the
guard. It could be inferred from this that Henry has free recreational time as he is already in control of
everything else. The argument that he is an impressive king gains weight from this because he has
power over everyone, and that he gets people to do the jobs he would normally have to do. This can be
inferred from source one as Henry spends his time in the garden practicing archery with the archers of
the guards. This suggests that Henry has appointed other people to do the jobs he would have to do
whilst he is in the garden practicing archery. It could also be inferred that he is wealthy because he
would be paying these people to do jobs for him. The source is a written document taken from a
personal diary of the king s Chaplin, John Taylor in 1513; he was also a royal official. The source is
likely to be accurate and reliable as it is a personal diary. John Taylor would have been recording what
he sees and as it is personal, there is no need to lie. Therefore we can infer that source one is a reliable
source, this lends weight to the strongest argument that Henry VII was an impressive figure as king.

Migraines are linked to heredity.
Anatomically speaking, what is taking place during a migraine? A common headache is caused by the
cranial blood vessels narrowing, while migraine pain is due to the expansion of those blood vessels.
During a migraine, the tissue surrounding the brain is swollen, causing intense pain. Migraines are
caused by a progression of several things: pain sensing cells in your brain stem pick up on this change
in your routine and release a chemical; this chemical attacks other pain sensing cells nearby, making
them more sensitive to pain. They also release neuropeptides; some of these chemicals begin to work
on the muscles surrounding the blood vessels near the surface of your brain. Those muscles relax,
making the blood vessels dilate and causing more blood to flow. This is where doctors think the aura
in a classic migraine comes from. Some of the neuropeptide chemicals cause the cranial vessels to
begin leaking, making the tissue around the area swell. Research now shows that the combination of
these factors; increased sensitivity, swelling brain tissues and swelling of blood vessels, is the cause of
migraines (Pocock 2). For the people afflicted with this disease, it is essential to comprehend what is
anatomically and physiologically occurring during a migraine episode. There are four possible phases
to a migraine attack: prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome. In the initial phase: prodrome, it is
often referred to as the

Effects Of Masked Semantic Priming
The present study provides results that partially support prior findings on masked semantic priming on
emotional and neutral stimuli. The results support the hypothesis that emotional valence words are
have a faster reaction time than neutral words. The results also support that emotional valence words
would have a larger prime effect than neutral words, and that negative stimuli would show a larger
priming effect than positive words. Contrary to expectations, the results show the larger priming

The processing of emotional word meanings on an unconscious level results in an amplification of

This quote clearly shows the reference back to the Bible. It explains how the author uses Grendel as
one of the offspring s of Cain whom killed his brother Abel. Beowulf was the one warrior who was
able to stop Grendel. Beowulf travels to Grendel s lair in the marsh with some of his finest soldiers.
When Beowulf and his men met Grendel the weapons of Beowulf s army became dull from a spell.
The weapons could not scratch the skin of Grendel. Beowulf used the faith from God to defeat
Grendel without the use of weapons. Beowulf was able to hold onto Grendel s arms until they were
ripped off. Beowulf put his life at risk by using his courage and faith to overcome Grendel.
Another evil that Beowulf was able to concur using the help of God was Grendel s Mother. Grendel s
Mother was furious about the death of her only son and came into Hrothgar s kingdom. While in the
kingdom she captured one of Hrothgar s men and devoured him. Before Grendel s mother flees she
takes the arm of her son which is hanging in the hall as a trophy. Beowulf then takes his men along
with Hrothgar s to the cave in which Grendel s mother lives. The author shows Beowulf s courage in

COPE Intervention
The good news is also that the increasing societal awareness and research has developed effective
treatment options that can be implemented into a school setting. Cognitive behavioral therapy
provides the basis for most of these intervention style treatments, based on the assumption that
dysfunctional thinking can be changed and, in turn, lead to symptomatic relief and improvement in
functioning (Craske, 2010, p. 49). Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on overriding the automatic

My Son, My Executioner Essay
My Son, My Executioner
In the Donald Hall poem, My Son, My Executioner, Hall depicted a father who has grown old,
holding their young child in their arms. Hall portrayed strong imagery of a fatherly figure giving up
everything to care for his young child. The tone of the poem is both happy and dark. Hall s theme
showed that once a person has a child, the parent s life is completely changed. My Son, My
Executioner is a very well written poem with a deep, true meaning that readers could relate to. The
imagery helps Hall depict a father caring for their young child. Hall is first telling the reader that the
father is with his child. The child seems to be very young because the father takes the child in his

This poem could either be taken in a happy tone or a dark tone. The main theme Hall is trying to
express is that once a person has a child, their lives are changed forever. In the first line, My son, my
executioner, is saying that once a child comes into the world, in a sense the parent s life is taken away.
Yet as morbid as that sounds, the parent s life is made eternal through their child forever. The father
knows his time is now focused on his son. There is a reversal of roles, as the child gets bigger and
stronger, the father gets weaker and will die. Sweet death, small son, our instrument/of immortality.
Another problem was that the parents had their child young. That day the child was born, their lives
were changed and it will never be the same again. We twenty five and twenty two. In conclusion,
Donald Hall portrays a father who has grown old, holding their young child in their arms. . The way
Hall used imagery, showed the reader a fatherly figure that gives up everything to care for his son. The
tone of the poem was important because it let the reader know that the poem could be seen as happy or
dark. The theme showed the readers that once they have a child, their lives are changed forever. My
Son, My Executioner is a very well written poem with a deep, true meaning that readers, along with

What Does Unit 731 Mean
731: Two Versions of Hell was a documentary directed and written by James T. Hong in 2007. The
setting/subject for this documentary was a facility known as the Epidemic Prevention and Water
purification Department of the Kwantung Army, or alternatively Unit 731, a biological and chemical
warfare research center that was used by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. It was
located a Japanese controlled city called Harbin, the largest city of Manchukuo in Northeast China.
The unit was used to develop a variety of weapons ranging from Biological to Chemical to

The Patterns Of Individuals Past Events Essay
To explore and probe the patterns of individuals past events, my research will consist of interviewing
twenty urban residents in the city of Oakland. I would listen to individual s experiences and stories
about the discrimination these individuals have faced. From the interviews and surveys, I will focus on
three primary themes, which are social differences, racial discrimination, and health disparities.
Anticipating from these abstract principles contributes to the following idea on: the differences placed
upon discrimination amongst people of darker skin tone, and the serious health effects of these African
American people.
To many, health disparities amongst different races may appear like an extraneous matter. But, it has
come to seriously affect the lives of African Americans. Williams (MMWR 2005, Williams 1995)
noted that African Americans suffer a higher rate of health related issues. Today, African Americans
still bear a disproportionate burden in disease morbidity, mortality, disability, and injury (MMWR
2005, Williams 1995). The shocking statement adds to the health issues they suffer: heart disease,
diabetes, and obesity, which is a critical factor for African Americans. Additional findings from
(Krieger, Rowley, Herman, Avery, Phillips 1993) address how other factors such as: ones
socioeconomic status (SES), race, and gender, concludes to the differences of health risks for
individuals (Krieger, Rowley, Herman, Avery, Phillips, 1993). The differences of a

There are capacity balancing problems. The way that you carried your supplier manufacturer relation

There is a decreased flexibility. The same problem that we mentioned above is that working or
carrying out two different functions under the same roof creates a higher level of difficulty for them.
Creates a barrier to market entry. As we saw before as well that whenever there is a vertical merger the
firm becomes stronger and it creates a market barrier for the other firms to enter. This perfectly gets

Essay on COCAINE-INDUCED PSYCHOSIS
Cocaine Induced Psychosis
Cocaine A Short History Coca is one of the oldest, most potent and dangerous stimulants of natural
origin. It was first extracted from its leaves and isolated into cocaine in 1859. The drug rapidly
became popular. But it took over 20 yrs. before it was popular in the medical community. Then, in
1886, coca leaves were an added ingredient Coca Cola. Sigmund Freud, who used the drug himself,
was the 1st person to promote cocaine as a tonic to cure depression and sexual impotence calling it a
magical substance. He promoted the drug to friends, one of whom ended up suffering from paranoid

Perugino influenced the way that Raphael thought about art and also helped him form a style of his
own. These years in the life of Raphael proved to be his most impressionable. Perugino taught the
basic laws of painting to the young Raphael and showed him what art really was. At this time in
Raphael amp;#8217;s life his works mimicked those of Perugino, but still many say that his works
breathed an independence of their own. Raphael, had a precious talent right from the beginning and
was an innate absorber of influences (Web Museum 2).
In many of Raphael amp;#8217;s early works of art he echoes the style of Perguino, like that in the
painting St. George and the Dragon. The style of Raphael in his early twenties proved in many aspects
to far exceed those of Perugino.
Raphael took a journey to Florence in 1504 to learn more about the happenings taking place in the
fastest growing portion of Italy. While in Florence, he embraced new methods and techniques, adopted
from those of Leonardo da Vinci. From da Vinci, Raphael learned how to balance and individualize
his figures in every work that he would fabricate from that day forward. Raphal amp;#8217;s
paintings now took on a much more vibrant and electric approach.
Raphael took a special liking to Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, and Jesus Christ, the Son of God. In

The judge considered vacant possession includes the right to actual unimpeded physical enjoyment.
Not any physical impediment will amount to breach the vacant possession, but it must be an
impediment which substantially prevents or interferes with the enjoyment of the right of possession of
a substantial part of the property.
By contrast, in Lori Ann Nelson v Lynette Marie Bellamy, certain items were remaining on the land at
completion date, the purchaser rescinded the contract by reason of the fact that there was a significant
amount of rubbish and builder s debris on the property. The court held that the items were present on
the property at completion were not substantial, because such items did not impinge at all on the living
areas, including the courtyard, and did not substantially prevent use of the undercroft or the side alleys
which did not constitute a substantial part of the property.
Similarly leaving furniture, or a large amount of vendor s chattel have been held as breaches of a
vendor s obligation to give physical vacant possession of the property.
1.1 Are the parties able and willing to settle?
In Austral Standard Cables Pty Ltd v Walker, the court found that if the purchaser had not stated that
they would not complete due to financial difficultly prior to the settlement, the vendor would be ready,

Conservative Views Of The Republican Party Of 2016
I ve spent a lot of time recently reading conservative explanations of Why I support Donald Trump.
Interestingly they often don t articulate any policy issues, but rather attack the alternatives. I read one
particularly weak argument (bereft of any facts) that said If Bernie wins we ll have a socialist
president, and that is really scary! It is this subject that I d like to address: the unreasonable, rampant
fear of socialism in America today. The Republican party of 2016 is hard to define, but one
characteristic that stands out is their abject hatred (or fear of) socialism. They lashed out at the
Affordable Care Act and president Obama as being socialist and have made the claim that it is greatest
current threat to America. Really? Socialism. There are not many words that are more feared and/or
hated in America during the last 8 years. It s the monster that hides under your bed when you re

Tsar Nicholas s The Great War
Introduction Tsar Nicholas II s reign was turbulent, seeing wars, revolutions, and a general sense of
displeasure from the people and the government. Intellectuals were no longer content with living
under an autocracy and believed that the Russian government was archaic and inefficient. Peasants
spoke out against their poor living and working conditions. By 1917, Nicholas reign was over and the
Romanov family was no longer in power. One of the leading causes of the Romanov downfall was
Nicholas himself. Although the situation in which he inherited the throne were not ideal, his character
and method of dealing with state affairs did not help. His personality affected his leadership style,
making his leadership style an unpopular one. Even his most trusted advisors and friends came second
to Nicholas desire to uphold autocracy in Russia. The influence of Pyotr Stolypin and Sergei Witte,
two of Nicholas senior officials, faded as Nicholas thought they hindered his supreme autocracy.
Nicholas character was also evident in the Great War. His many stubborn decisions, despite being
constantly advised against them, caused Russia much grief during and after the war. Nicholas wife
Alexandra influenced many of these decisions and other decisions on state affairs. Nicholas
personality allowed Alexandra to have a large impact on his reign. This further gave Grigori Rasputin

Homosexuality in Japanese history is a widely accepted and commonly practiced orientation amongst
the samurai and the students. Children would be sent off by their parents to train and study under
Buddhist monks and samurai, which in turn would lead to a completely consensual relationship. These
young boys would partake in acts of sodomy and cross dressing in order to appease and save their
partner. Past Buddhism preaches that if a man enters his sex organ in a woman, it will create a cycle of
attachment as kids will continue this iniquitous cycle. Therefore, Buddhist monks would enter

The looks of the chigo in a temple had to be more feminine: the blackening of the teeth, face powder,
robes that are more vibrant, and maintain a longer ponytail. This was required of the chigo as it was
their duty to appease the heterosexual nature of the temple monks by giving them visual and physical
aid. These boys were made into catamites by the temple monks, but not forcibly. It raises the question
of why was having sex with a young boy not breaking the Vinaya? A youth was supposed to undergo a
weeks long, elaborate initiation ritual called the chigo kanjō, through which he was reborn as a
bodhisattva. (Sachi Schmidt Hori 165) A bodhisattva is an individual who has the ability to reach
nirvana but hampers doing so out of compassion in saving other suffering beings. It was believed at
the time that children who become bodhisattva have the ability to save monks from the suffering of
hell by of course, having intercourse with them. There are two main points to the process of chigo
kangō. The first point is that an elite priest cannot have more than one chigo. The second point is that
one must not have sex with youth that are not their attendants. This comes from Sōshō, a middle
ranking monk who had over ninety five sexual partners, pertaining to youth, implying that he partook
in sex with children outside of his personal attendants. This act directly goes against the Uki, an

he was appointed as Chancellor and eventually elected to power before he created the most
memorable time in modern history; The Holocaust. During his earlier years, particularly those of
1919, he was made an intelligence agent and assigned to gather said information from the German
Workers Party. During this process, he ended up getting recruited into the party as member 555. He
was lulled by Anton Drexler s social views in which he had a particular agreeance to. It was in this
part that he met Dietrich Eckart, who became Hitler s Mentor in the Thule Society. Sometime after,
the German Workers Party changed their name to the National Socialist German Workers Party to
make themselves sound more appealing to the masses. It was at this time that Hitler created the well
known swastika banner associated with this party. No more than five months after becoming a party
member, gave a famous speech against the Treaty of Versailles, Jews, and Marxists in February of

Analysis Of The War Hero After The Battle Of New Orleans

APUSH DBQ: Jacksonian Democrats
Andrew Jackson became known as the war hero after the Battle of New Orleans. His victory over the
Indians in the battle helped his public recognition and increased his popularity in society. In the
election of 1820, Andrew Jackson ran for presidency and won with flying colors. Jackson s humble
background gave him an edge over other candidates he was the voice for the common man and
endorsed the idea of national democracy. His years in office was named the Jacksonian era as he
changed the views and ideas of politics forever. Jackson s supporters called themselves the Jacksonian
democrats and viewed themselves as the guardians of the United States Constitution, political
democracy, individual liberty, and equality of economic opportunity. Although this is true to a certain
extent, Jackson advocated what he thought would be beneficial to the common man. Jackson spread
the equality of economic opportunities and remained loyal to the constitution, but fell short when
considering individual liberties and political democracy. Jacksonian Democrats guarded the equality
of economic opportunities. Since Jackson came from a middle class family and understood the
hardships the common citizen faced, he made sure that power was held in the majority of the citizens
as opposed to the limited wealthy elite class. Jackson vetoed the national bank because he believed it
would place a majority of

Pro And Cons Of Genetic Modification
Approximately 4 million babies are born each year, among them, nearly 160,000 have a high chance
of having genetic disorders said, Anne Matthews, an associate professor. Every parent s dream is to
have a perfectly healthy and thriving child. No parent will want his or her child to have any disease. In
1973, Herbert Boyer and Stanley discovered method called genetic modification ( GNN Genetics and
Genomics Timeline ). Genetic modification is the manipulation of organism genes using biology and
technology. Gene modification includes different types of techniques such as cloning and genetic
engineering. Genetic enhancement is the transfer of genetic material intended to non pathological
human traits, said Kathi Hanna, a biomedical research writer. Gene enhancement is used to make
people not only healthy but also raise their capacities. According to Begley Sharon, the senior science
writer for Stat, 65 percent of individual support that altering gene of an unborn baby should be illegal.
Parents should not have the right to genetically enhance their unborn child because it will limit the
child s freedom and will lead to societal issues.
The first reason why parents should not change the genes of their child is that it limits the child s
autonomy. In the U.S, most adolescents are dependent by the age of 18. Since most of them are
dependent, it means that they can already take care of themselves and make thoughtful decisions. A
child who is genetically modified will be

Slavery In Colonial Latin America
The institution of slavery was a big part of life in colonial Latin America. According Henry Louis
Gates, Jr., 11.2 million slaves were imported to the Americas from Africa between 1502 and 1866.
Most of the slaves were transported to the Caribbean and Latin America. In fact, Brazil got a total of
about 4.8 million slaves (Black in LA). The working and living conditions for slaves were horrific. So
many slaves were imported specifically because slaves were expendable. Slave holders could afford to
undernourish their slaves due to the slave market. Slaves were in high demand in colonial Latin
America. Some slaves resisted their enslavement by running away to form quilombos, or maroon
communities. According to Thomas Gage, cimarrones, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zumbi is wearing brightly colored attire, standing in a relaxed manner, and holding what appears to be
a gun. Zumbi s clothing causes him stand out in the painting, making him the focal point of the
artwork. His posture and stance indicate that he is confident, but not violent. The way he grips the gun
with both hands suggests he was ready to protect and provide. The artist, Antônio Parreiras, lived from
1860 to 1937 (MacGregor). This was about two centuries after the fall of Palamares and the death of
Zumbi. His painting of Zumbi proves that Zumbi continued being a major historical figure to

Differences Between Two Female Characters
The most important aspect of comparison between two female characters is that each of two deny
change forcefully and getting stuck in the past. It was noticed by pip when he first met Miss Havisham
that her watch had stopped at twenty minutes to nine, and that a clock in the room had stopped at
twenty minutes to nine .(Great Expectations 101)One of the most astonishing trait of her character is
that she stuck herself in the time when she was deserted by her lover. She was joyfully getting ready
for her wedding, received the letter from Compeyson. At twenty minutes to nine? At the hour and
minute, said Herbert, at which she afterwards stopped all the clocks (Great Expectation 321) Miss
Havisham was heartbroken by the betrayal at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She further asserts I know nothing of the days of the week; I know nothing of weeks of the year I
know nothing about times (GE107)
The same thing we find in Miss Emily, she conserve herself in an imaginary sphere and keeps on
struggling to clasp time and forbid changes. The first implication is her denial of death as she is not
ready to accept the reality of her father s sudden death. She told them that her father was not dead. She
did that for three days, with the ministers calling on her, and the doctors, trying to persuade her to let
them dispose of the body. (Collected Stories 123) Emily tried to defy death by holding on to her father
s corpse and treating it as if he were still living. She want to remain that time alive around herself
when her father was alive. She didn t alow any change to take place whether in her life or in her old
decayed house. No change has ever been made in her antique house and maintained as well while
every other house acquired change completely over these long years. As interpret by Faulkner only
Miss Emily s house was left, lifting its stubborn and coquettish decay above the cotton wagons and the
gasoline pumps an eyesore among eyesores. (Collected Stories 119) As years go on and the times
begin to change, she retreats into her house, refusing to go along with the

Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia, one of the three Maritime and one of the four Atlantic provinces of Canada, bordered on
the north by the Bay of Fundy, the province of
New Brunswick, Northumberland Strait, and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and on the east, south, and
west by the Atlantic Ocean. Nova Scotia consists primarily of a mainland section, linked to New
Brunswick by the Isthmus of Chignecto, and Cape
Breton Island, separated from the mainland by the Strait of Canso. On July 1,
1867, Nova Scotia became one of the founding members of the Canadian
Confederation. The province s name, which is Latin for New Scotland, was first applied to the region
in the 1620s by settlers from Scotland.

Later governments first Liberal (from 1970 1978) and then Conservative (since
1978) have been unable to bring the local economy up to parity with the rest of
Canada. Despite a rate of economic growth that exceeded the national average from the mid 1980s
through the early 1990s, Nova Scotia, like other Maritime provinces, remains one of the less
advantaged areas in the Canadian union.
Historical Sites
Nova Scotia has preserved or reconstructed a number of historical sites.
These include Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Park, in Baddeck, with exhibits relating to
Bell s inventions while he lived here; Fort Anne National

Edward National Historic Site, in Windsor, containing the remains of a mid 18th century earthen
fortification; and Fortress of
Louisbourg National Historic Site, near Louisbourg, including a partial reconstruction of a large
French fort (built 1720 45; destroyed by the English,

Summary of the Ballet quot;Giselle quot; Essays
Giselle is a romantic ballet choreographed by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot. Adolphe Adam beautifully
composes the music. This ballet was originally performed in Paris in 1841. The production that we
viewed in class was from La Salla. Giselle is one of the last ballets of the Romantic era.
The element that stood out the most to me was how effectively the music and the footwork
corresponded. The best examples of this are seen through the dancers solos. Especially Albrecht s
solo, his feet glide on the stage at the same tempo as the music. Similarly, Giselle s graceful footwork
is truly amazing. I really like the similarities between the choreographed footwork and the music, it
makes Giselle seem much more elegant and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also enjoyed the mixture of solo dancing in comparison with the peasant dancing in the first act. I
thought the two coincided very well. Additionally, the choreographer, made excellent use of the stage
space. There was a good variation of movement across the stage, without unnecessary distraction.
Furthermore, in Giselle the viewer notices are the difference in costumes, compared with today s more
contemporary ballets. Giselle is dressed as a girl, not like a typical ballerina. The length of her skirt is
very long, but stops short enough for you to allow seeing her footwork. There is also a clear
distinction among the high society and the peasants. When the peasants are dancing, their costumes
are all in the same, more muted color hue, whereas when the high class is dancing or on stage they
have noticeably ornate costumes. This is an important element to this ballet. It also makes this
difference more easily distinguishable to those people who do not know the whole story line behind
Giselle.
There are two more very noticeable elements of Giselle , facial expression, and body movement. The
facial expression throughout both acts is very noticeable. For example, in Act One, you can see by the
way Giselle looks around; she is very shy and obedient to her mother. By watching her face, you see
her batting her eyes at Albrecht and flirting with him in a very innocent

Brief Description Of Public Policy
Part A: Brief description of public policy
Policy refers to a distinct path of action that is suitable for the pursuit of desired goals within a
particular context, directing the decision making or behavior of an organization or individual. There
are three key elements of policies: problem definition, goals to be achieved, and policy instruments to
address the problem and achieve the goal. The policy process is an activity of balancing different
solutions that address aspects of complex problems: the policymaking is typically described as messy
(CITE). Important components of the policy process include identification of a policy problem along
with framing the problem for solutions (also known as policy formulation), implementation of policy
strategies, and establishing outcomes for evaluation of policy effectiveness.
Policies come from those who have legitimate authority to impose normative guidelines for action
(i.e., elected officials). Formulation of health related policies is complex and depends on a variety of
scientific, economic, social, and political forces. As a result, there is a considerable gap between what
public health research shows is effective and the policies that are enacted and enforced (Brownson,
Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009).
Non elected officials (i.e., practitioners) are generally required to implement the policy through
programs (i.e., interventions). There are many barriers to effective policy implementation. For
example, insufficient

Compare And Contrast The Schoolboy And The Scholar Gipsy
William Blake s The Schoolboy of the Romantic age and Matthew Arnold s The Scholar Gipsy of the
Victorian Age portrays different picture for education and the way of learning. However, both poems
oppose the strict learning system of the societies. Blake s The Schoolboy gives the picture of strict
education deteriorating the very foundation of the man while Arnold s The Scholar Gipsy gives the
picture of new modern education deteriorating the faith and traditional value in the man. It seem that
character from these two poem seek for freedom to learn. However, Blake s The Schoolboy seeks to
learn new thing through his observation while Arnold s The Scholar Gipsy seeks to learn occults,
dejecting the new and creative knowledge.
William Blake s The Schoolboy gives the picture of the young boy who wants to break free from his
closed cage of learning into the wild and free learning of the world. On the other hand, Matthew
Arnold s The Scholar Gipsy tell us about the narrator who is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, the two poets being from different era had different point of view to it. Blake who was
largely self educated and did not have to attend the classroom was against the regimented learning as
he thought that the education system of his times destroys the very precious innocence of the youth.
Arnold being in the age of Victorian with many science theories seem troubled what to accept. So the
poem of these two writers seems like a biography, giving a brief account of personal life. Instead of
looking from the other perspective, Blake and Arnold seem to give their own account on how they feel
about the education system. The characters in both the poem seem to seek for freedom and to escape
from the place where they belong. Actually it seemed like it was the poet who are using the poem as
escapism to the world of

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of Voting One example of registration laws that effect voter participation includes the House Bill 1355. In 2011 Florida voted on House Bill 1355 placing new regulations on community organization that have helped eligible voters to register (Herron, Smith 2013). Seeing as Florida is a swing state and every four years during presidential elections the state and its residents can determine who will be the next president of the United States, it s important for communities and organizations to mobilize the people to go out and vote. Although a federal judge in 2012 later blocked the legislation that was making it difficult for third party registration organizations the damage was already done. For a prominent voting organization opted out of doing registration drives when the House Bill 1355 was initially passed (Herron, Smith). The implementation of the Bill influenced the upcoming presidential election in 2012 by slowing the voter registration of thousands of Floridians. Bills like the 2011 House Bill 1355 only raises the cost in the rational choice model making it only more probable that people will just opt out of voting because they don t want to deal with the time consuming process. When registering to vote one must adhere to the states laws and comply with the process of registration. Because each state has their own legislation and laws that their residents must follow, it crucial for people to get some information on the state registration process in order to vote. In ... • 3. Possible Gas Recovery From Darvaza Crater Possible Gas Recovery from Darvaza Crater Introduction Near a small village named Darweze (Darvaza in Russian meaning gate), there is a burning crater named as DOOR TO HELL or HELL S GATE. In 1971 (when Turkmenistan was a part of Soviet Union) a group of Soviet geologists and engineers found a huge reservoir of natural gas, which was later found to be fifth largest in the world. A drilling rig was setup to extract it. Unfortunately, due to primitive technology survey of the ground was not proper. So the rig was setup on an underground cavern, which later collapsed and left a huge crater in its place. The crater was 200 feet wide and 66 feet deep. Before collapsing the rig had already digged a hole in the caprock, as a result methane gas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the help of modern technology he became the first (and only) human to descend in the hole. During his adventure he wore a fire proof suit. From the pit he took a sample of soil (which was rich in extremophile bacteria). While digging the soil he found that fire was coming out the digged hole. He and his team stated that on earth there is no other place like this. Now, the hole is expanding and is said to reach 230 meters in width. Abstract In Turkmenistan, there is a burning crater named as DOOR TO HELL. In 1971 some Soviet geologists and engineers had found one of the largest reservoir of natural gas. They set up a rig and started extracting it. Unfortunately the ground under the rig collapsed leaving a huge 200 meter wide crater. From it methane gas started leaking. Fearing the pollution in local area and dangers to local population they decided to burn it. According to them it could be burned within a few days but it is still burning. In 2010 President of Turkmenistan ordered to close it but due to lack of facilities it could not been done. In 2013 adventurer and explorer George Kourounis got the permission to go inside the crater. After a brief study of this, need of further research was found. Seismic survey (3d or 4d if possible) should be done to predict the amount of natural gas left in the reservoir. Huge amount of methane is mostly found under the sea bed (under very high temperature). Hence methane under the crater is not formed there (in desert). Its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Cherokee people are incorporating more and more of their past traditions in to their institutions way of life in a means of trying to preserve them in this every changing world. Once a culture of people that held high their beliefs and way of life was nearly an extinct culture after the European, and colonization forced these people out of their land. It is important to see look at the affects that globalization has on the Cherokee people because looking at this we can see how globalization affects human dignity both in a positive manner and in a negative manner. The education institutions that are on the boundary give the Cherokee children the right to self fulfillment; it does this by providing them with the right education to go to college or so on if they wish. The school has incorporated ideas from all over to make sure that their children have the best possible education that they can get to survive and thrive in the modern world today. Our culture has played a huge impact on how they view technology. Our culture is constantly obsessing over the newest and greatest technology, because of this there are tons of jobs in this field. The Cherokee schools teach children as early as elementary school how to work with different technology to give them a head start in the culture that surrounds them so that they can keep at a solid pace with us. • 5. Research Paper On The United Kingdom Country Overview The United Kingdom is an island nation off the western coast of Europe, comprised of the four nations of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. With a total population of 64.4 million people over nearly 242,000 sq. kilometers, the United Kingdom (commonly shortened to the UK) is the fourth most densely populated country in Europe. The majority of the population is centered around a few cores, most notably the capital of London. Other major population centers include Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool. (All facts and figures in the above paragraph are from the United States Central Intelligence Agency.) The majority language spoken in the UK is English, although with some variations in spelling and vocabulary from the English spoken in the United States. Some regional languages exist, such as Gaelic, Scots, or Cornish. The currency of the United Kingdom is the British Pound. The current conversion of the British Pound to the U.S. Dollar is 1 GBP = 1.2236 USD (Bird). Culture and Customs The population make up is similar to that of the United States and Canada. The majority of the population identifies as white, with a descending percentage of minority ethnicities or nationalities. While people in the United Kingdom are generally accepting of various religions it would still be best to avoid this topic of conversation. The scoring criteria for the target behaviors that did not reach ≥ 90% interrater agreement will be discussed and the operational definitions of the target behaviors will be clarified if necessary. Data Analysis The data for each participant will be plotted by the phase and visually analyzed for the stability, level, variation, and trend. Visual analysis is the primary data analysis method used for single subject designs (Olive Smith, 2005; Portney Watkins, 2000). In single subject designs, the research hypotheses are tested by analyzing the adjacent phases for a level, trend, and slope. Change in a level refers to change in the value or magnitude of a performance of the dependent variable. Trend is the direction of change of a target behavior within a phase and the slope of the trend is the rate of change within the data (Portney Watkins, 2000) The mean or average value of the target behaviors for adjacent phases will be compared for this study. Since variability in the data influences the slope of a trend, a celeration line will be used to estimate the trend for each phase. The split ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian War Ancient Greece during 4th Century BC was home to the city states of Sparta and Athens, who during this time were the superpowers of the region. The Peloponnesian war between these city states and their respective allies lasted from 431 404 BC, although conflicts between the two had dated back further. Major fighting in the war occurred from 431 421 and ended in Athenian victory. However, renewed conflict raged between 413 and 404 which resulted in Spartan victory. The Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta evolved from a string of events which I am going to look at to see if there was a single cause for this war. In 435 BC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Potidaea was a member of the Delian League, Athens and her allies, it had maintained the right to receive magistrates from its mother city every year. Tired of paying tribute to Athens and resentful of Athenian rule the citizens of Potidaea supported a revolt to expel Athenian power. Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war. Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta) made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the Peloponnesian war. After the Persian wars, there was a development of Athenian control when the Delian league was formed which was an alliance of cities based around Athens. • 10. Vulgarity In Shakespeare s Cholera Quoth Shakespeare, Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! (3.2.1). Although bodily humour possesses a somewhat foul reputation, it appears amongst the works of the greatest and most sophisticated minds in literary canon to include the Bard himself. Although Peter Smith notes that Victorian literature seems to shy away from this obscenity, it nonetheless provides examples of the lewd, and Father Thames Introducing his Offspring to the Fair City of London offers this vulgarity in spades (12 13). In 1858, the periodical Punch published the above image in response to three primary factors: firstly, the era during which the river Thames faced severe pollution and emitted a horrendous odor, known as the Great Stink; secondly, an outbreak of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Exemplifying this humourous reduction of status, Cholera thusly produces quite the comedic figure, with its hunched physicality and the expression of anguish upon its face; of course, owing to the disease which it represents, its visage and posture inherently call to mind an image of the coprological, and therefore of the gleefully disgusting body. In addition to the depiction of Cholera, the figure of Father Thames and the shaping of his body elicits a sense of the scatalogical as well; rather than possessing a humanoid form akin to the other characters in the comic, Father Thames cuts an indistinct, lumpy figure that appears to ooze humorously into the water around him. It seems that the artist intended to evoke an image rather more distasteful than an anthropomorphized river, and in doing so beckoned our sense of superiority not only by trivializing the figure of Father Thames, but by dehumanizing him. In his book On Humour, Simon Critchley emphasizes the particular comedy of invoking this unsavoury subhumanity, writing, the body returns in laughter in the form of an eruptive, animal physicality (Critchley 46 47). This vaguely fecal and inhuman perception of Father Thames expresses itself moreover in two notable ways: firstly, by the cultural awareness of the sewage that inundated the ... Throughout grade school, I continued to read frequently and never found it to be a chore; however, once middle school hit I no longer included reading as a past time or found it pleasurable. As a child, I enjoyed several different genres of novels and many different topics intrigued me, so it wasn t necessarily what I was reading that disinterested me. One required novel I remember reading was The Outsiders in seventh grade. This was a type of book I feel I would normally enjoy because of the mystery and action; however, I couldn t bring myself to truly become engaged in this novel. The Role of Genes in the Development of Behavior Essay The Role of Genes in the Development of Behavior The debate concerning the influence of genes on human behavior has been on going for centuries. The nature vs. nurture (or heredity Vs. environment) debates are one of the longest running, and most controversial, both inside and outside psychology. It is concerned with some of the most fundamental questions a human being could ask, such as Why are we they way we are? and why do we develop as we do? With philosophical thinkers such as the John Locke, who believed that at birth the human mind is tabula rasa, a blank slate that is gradually filled with experience. On the other hand, the French philosopher Rene Descartes, was a seventeenth century nativist who believed that knowledge of the world was largely innate or inborn and that nature (heredity) determined certain abilities and capacities. Popular in the eighteenth century was the philosophy of Jean Jacques Rousseau who claimed that children should be free to develop as nature dictates. However towards the beginning of the nineteenth century the heredity thesis was more dominant but then again the dominant opinion swung to the environmental perspective by the middle of the century. The Canadian psychologist, D. O. Hebb in 1949[1] argued that there was too much misunderstanding on the subject because two separate facts had not been recognised. Firstly, that because we have the biological ability to form cell assemblies that allow us to store memories and solve problems, we therefore have the innate ability to form cell assemblies. However the second fact is that although we have this ability, we may not necessarily be able to do so to the fullest extent, depending on the environment that may either help or hinder ... In the 16th century an impressive figure of a king would mean that he demonstrated power both physically and economically and a good education. However as source two suggests, Henry might be considered less than impressive as he shows insecurities. A stronger argument though is that Henry did demonstrate the features of an impressive king as he had all the attributes listed above which is clear from all three sources. Source one implies that Henry is a very rich and powerful king as it shows us spending time practicing his archery with his guards. The king was practicing archery in the garden with the archers of the guard. It could be inferred from this that Henry has free recreational time as he is already in control of everything else. The argument that he is an impressive king gains weight from this because he has power over everyone, and that he gets people to do the jobs he would normally have to do. This can be inferred from source one as Henry spends his time in the garden practicing archery with the archers of the guards. This suggests that Henry has appointed other people to do the jobs he would have to do whilst he is in the garden practicing archery. It could also be inferred that he is wealthy because he would be paying these people to do jobs for him. The source is a written document taken from a personal diary of the king s Chaplin, John Taylor in 1513; he was also a royal official. The source is likely to be accurate and reliable as it is a personal diary. John Taylor would have been recording what he sees and as it is personal, there is no need to lie. Anatomically speaking, what is taking place during a migraine? A common headache is caused by the cranial blood vessels narrowing, while migraine pain is due to the expansion of those blood vessels. During a migraine, the tissue surrounding the brain is swollen, causing intense pain. Migraines are caused by a progression of several things: pain sensing cells in your brain stem pick up on this change in your routine and release a chemical; this chemical attacks other pain sensing cells nearby, making them more sensitive to pain. They also release neuropeptides; some of these chemicals begin to work on the muscles surrounding the blood vessels near the surface of your brain. Those muscles relax, making the blood vessels dilate and causing more blood to flow. This is where doctors think the aura in a classic migraine comes from. Some of the neuropeptide chemicals cause the cranial vessels to begin leaking, making the tissue around the area swell. Research now shows that the combination of these factors; increased sensitivity, swelling brain tissues and swelling of blood vessels, is the cause of migraines (Pocock 2). For the people afflicted with this disease, it is essential to comprehend what is anatomically and physiologically occurring during a migraine episode. There are four possible phases to a migraine attack: prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome. In the initial phase: prodrome, it is often referred to as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the first line, My son, my executioner, is saying that once a child comes into the world, in a sense the parent s life is taken away. Yet as morbid as that sounds, the parent s life is made eternal through their child forever. The father knows his time is now focused on his son. There is a reversal of roles, as the child gets bigger and stronger, the father gets weaker and will die. Sweet death, small son, our instrument/of immortality. There are two main points to the process of chigo kangō. The first point is that an elite priest cannot have more than one chigo. The second point is that one must not have sex with youth that are not their attendants. This comes from Sōshō, a middle ranking monk who had over ninety five sexual partners, pertaining to youth, implying that he partook in sex with children outside of his personal attendants. • 38. Sergeant Cuff In The Hound Of The Baskervilles, And Father... Throughout the semester, we have read several different detective stories, looking into each detective s characteristics, as well as the characteristics of supporting characters, examining how detectives are able to solve the case when nobody else can. Each detective we have read this semester has different ways to solve a crime, but there are also ways to connect these different detectives. Based on the examples of Sergeant Cuff in The Moonstone, Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskervilles, and Father Brown in Father Brown: The Essential Tales, a successful detective must love what they do, have trust that is hard to earn by others, and they are very detailed in their searches. Without the combination of these three characteristics, detectives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It it s any comfort to you, collar me again (Collins, 143). Before this quotation, Betteredge calls out Sergeant Cuff for believing that Miss Rachel could be guilty of taking the moonstone. Cuff understands why Betteredge is upset and knows not to accuse Rachel of anything without complete evidence. This shows Cuff s love for being a detective because he is being criticized by Betteredge, accepts what he says, and tells him that he can come back if need be. He kept the conversation very professional and hopes to come back in order to solve the case. In The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle, we see Sherlock who loves being a detective as well. In the beginning of the novel, Dr. James Mortimer comes to Sherlock and Watson for help, saying that he came to the second highest expert in Europe. In response, Sherlock says, Indeed, sir! May I inquire who has the honour to be the first? [he asked] with some asperity (Doyle, 5). Holmes seems very excited to have the opportunity to solve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pro And Cons Of Genetic Modification Approximately 4 million babies are born each year, among them, nearly 160,000 have a high chance of having genetic disorders said, Anne Matthews, an associate professor. Every parent s dream is to have a perfectly healthy and thriving child. No parent will want his or her child to have any disease. In 1973, Herbert Boyer and Stanley discovered method called genetic modification ( GNN Genetics and Genomics Timeline ). Genetic modification is the manipulation of organism genes using biology and technology. Gene modification includes different types of techniques such as cloning and genetic engineering. Genetic enhancement is the transfer of genetic material intended to non pathological human traits, said Kathi Hanna, a biomedical research writer. Gene enhancement is used to make people not only healthy but also raise their capacities. According to Begley Sharon, the senior science writer for Stat, 65 percent of individual support that altering gene of an unborn baby should be illegal. Parents should not have the right to genetically enhance their unborn child because it will limit the child s freedom and will lead to societal issues. The first reason why parents should not change the genes of their child is that it limits the child s autonomy. In the U.S, most adolescents are dependent by the age of 18. • 45. Summary of the Ballet quot;Giselle quot; Essays Giselle is a romantic ballet choreographed by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot. Adolphe Adam beautifully composes the music. This ballet was originally performed in Paris in 1841. The production that we viewed in class was from La Salla. Giselle is one of the last ballets of the Romantic era. The element that stood out the most to me was how effectively the music and the footwork corresponded. The best examples of this are seen through the dancers solos. Especially Albrecht s solo, his feet glide on the stage at the same tempo as the music. Similarly, Giselle s graceful footwork is truly amazing. I really like the similarities between the choreographed footwork and the music, it makes Giselle seem much more elegant and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also enjoyed the mixture of solo dancing in comparison with the peasant dancing in the first act. I thought the two coincided very well. Additionally, the choreographer, made excellent use of the stage space. There was a good variation of movement across the stage, without unnecessary distraction. Furthermore, in Giselle the viewer notices are the difference in costumes, compared with today s more contemporary ballets. Giselle is dressed as a girl, not like a typical ballerina. The length of her skirt is very long, but stops short enough for you to allow seeing her footwork. There is also a clear distinction among the high society and the peasants. When the peasants are dancing, their costumes are all in the same, more muted color hue, whereas when the high class is dancing or on stage they have noticeably ornate costumes. This is an important element to this ballet. It also makes this difference more easily distinguishable to those people who do not know the whole story line behind Giselle. There are two more very noticeable elements of Giselle , facial expression, and body movement. The facial expression throughout both acts is very noticeable. For example, in Act One, you can see by the way Giselle looks around; she is very shy and obedient to her mother. By watching her face, you see her batting her eyes at Albrecht and flirting with him in a very innocent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Brief Description Of Public Policy Part A: Brief description of public policy Policy refers to a distinct path of action that is suitable for the pursuit of desired goals within a particular context, directing the decision making or behavior of an organization or individual. There are three key elements of policies: problem definition, goals to be achieved, and policy instruments to address the problem and achieve the goal. The policy process is an activity of balancing different solutions that address aspects of complex problems: the policymaking is typically described as messy (CITE). Important components of the policy process include identification of a policy problem along with framing the problem for solutions (also known as policy formulation), implementation of policy strategies, and establishing outcomes for evaluation of policy effectiveness. Policies come from those who have legitimate authority to impose normative guidelines for action (i.e., elected officials). Formulation of health related policies is complex and depends on a variety of scientific, economic, social, and political forces. As a result, there is a considerable gap between what public health research shows is effective and the policies that are enacted and enforced (Brownson, Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009). Non elected officials (i.e., practitioners) are generally required to implement the policy through programs (i.e., interventions). There are many barriers to effective policy implementation. For example, insufficient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
