Essay about Japanese Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
JAPANESE FDI In the era of globalization, international trade and international investments are
expanding at exponential rates. Almost all developed countries are involved in Foreign Direct
Investment processes, both in the form of outward and inward FDI. Among those developed
countries there is the case of Japan that is different; Japanese attitude towards FDI has always
been, in fact, very cautious. One one hand, Japanese outward foreign investment and exports have
played a fundamental role in the postwar period of economic rise; on the other hand, the accesses
to the domestic market by foreign investors, the so called Inward FDI, has been very limited.

Therefore, it has been obliged to deregulate foreign exchange controls by observing article 8 of
the IMF (International Monetary Fund) charter. Despite all this, Japanese government at that
time considered inward foreign investment as a threat for local market; in 1967, in fact, the
Gaishi Shingikai (Foreign Investment Deliberation Council) highlighted the negative points of
the liberal capitalization, defining the domination of foreign firms as negative for Japan s
economy. (Suginohara, 2008). From 1960, with the approval by the government of the Basic
Plan for Liberalization of Trade and Foreign Exchange, a major number of sectors was
liberalized; Japan subsequently liberalized imports, capital transactions and financial sector.
Starting from the second half of the 1960s Inward and outward FDI were liberalized step by
step, and in May 1972 the possession of foreign currency by residents was liberalized. In
December 1980 the Foreign Capital Law was incorporated to the Foreign Exchange Law. This
revised law was aimed to liberalize capital account transactions (Aramaki, 2006). The revision of
the Foreign Exchange Law permitted the creation of a large number of foreign owned companies
and a consequent phenomenal growth of FDI in the manufacturing sector (from 1,092 millions $
in 1976 1980 to 2,359 millions $ in 1981 1985 and 7,092 millions $ between 1986 and 1990) .

Laundry Detergents As A Cleansing Agent
Introduction
Laundry detergents are a cleansing agent that is widely used in the industry to clean laundry. The
term detergent refers to mixtures of chemical compounds including Alkyl Sulphonates, which are
similar to soap but less affected by hard water (Farlex, 2014). Like soap, detergent increases the
ability of water to penetrate fabric and break down greases and dirt, however they are derived from
organic acids rather than fatty acids (Mifflin, 2005). A detergentis an ion or molecule that contains
both polar and nonpolar components. The polar component allows the detergent to dissolve in the
water, whereas the nonpolar component solubilizes greasy materials that are the usual target of
the cleaning process. Their molecules then surround the particles of grease and dirt, allowing
them to be carried away thus leaving your clothes clean. This EEI explores the performance of two
different laundry powders (Fab and Woolworths select Home brand) in different types of water;
ranging from soft to hard. These detergents were compared and analysed in different types of water
from varying locations to determine whether water hardness has an effect on the cleaning ability of
detergents, and whether products should be specifically formulated depending on the type of water.

Laundry detergents such as Fab and Woolworths Select Home brand are composed of many
elements that each play important roles in the laundry process depending on the cleaning tasks

Carbon Dioxide Is Able To Influence Emissions
Carbon FRQ
a)Carbon is able to form covalent bonds with hydrogen and other atoms because it has four
valence electrons. Because carbon needs eight total electrons when its orbital is filled, it needs to
form four more bonds with other atoms. Also, since it is able to form bonds with four other atoms,
carbon has the potential to form single, double, or triple bonds.
b)The greenhouse effect refers to radiation from the sun as it warms the earth. This is caused by the
presence of several greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide being one of them. Carbon dioxide is formed
when carbon compounds undergo oxidation reactions. Carbon dioxide helps confine heat in the
earth s atmosphere as it reflects from the sun to the earth, and thus contributes to the

Essay on Homeschooling
Homeschooling
The definition of homeschooling is to instruct a pupil in an educational program outside of
established schools (www.Dictionary.com).
Homeschooling is a good alternative to public schools because of certain religious issues,
standardized test success, and variety of options for homeschool students, but in some states
homeschoolers are having trouble with the school system.
Homeschooling has been on the rise in the United States and its popularity continues to grow
among American families. According to the U.S Department of Education, in 2003 there were 1.1
million children in grades K thru 12 being homeschooled . The 3 most popular reasons for
homeschooling are concerns about the environment of other schools, ... Show more content on

Some of the problems with public schools are that children who go there with certain beliefs and
customs that they participate in at home that they cannot do at school.
Many citizens in states such as Pennsylvania are having issues with school systems making
regulations on homeschooling that are not allowed (Doherty, Brian). One of the main arguments
that parents are using deals with the Religious Freedom Protection act. This act states that state
agencies may not compel conduct or expression which violates a specific tenet of a person s
religious faith. It also argues that nowhere in religious scripture is authority for education given
over to government. Not only are parents saying that the Bible directly calls them out to educate
their own children, but that it is the choice of the parents. Although there are many people choosing
this method of education because of religious reasons, many parents who are not religious are
choosing homeschooling because of the opportunities it opens up for their children and them. Many
parents choose it because they believe that personal learning will be better for their children and
there are so many products on the market today that it has been simple to be homeschooled
(Kiesling, Angie).
Homeschooling is also advantageous to students is because of the variety of options that are
available. One of these options deals with the curriculums that are available. Unlike public schools,

Frederick Douglas And Solomon Northrup Essay
Throughout the years slaveholders made claims that justified why the institution of slavery was
acceptable, however, many abolitionist made claims that differed the majority opinion. Abolitionist
began to publicize stories advocating truths about this institution. Fredrick Douglas and Solomon
Northrup shared their life stories where they exposed their experiences as slaves in the Southern
world.Slaves holders make several arguments to justify slavery, meanwhile, slaves themselves
completely disagree with all the things the masters claim. Violence versus paternalism, true
christianity and hypocritical christianity, and the role knowledge and ignorance and whether
slaves are truly happily plays are all powerful ideas in both sides convey . To begin with, slave
masters thought of themselves as a paternal figure. George Fizhugh, an author who advocates
slavery, explains this interesting concept of Blacks being viewed as childlike people. He states
the Negro is but a grown up child, and must be governed as child, not as lunatic or criminal. The
master occupies toward him the place of parent or guardian .The masters truly believed that they
were meant to be paternal to these underprivileged folks who did not have (and in some cases,
know) parents or families. They believed they were meant to raise and care for the Blacks that
entered their plantations. However, slaves told a different story. Fredrick Douglass and Solomon
Northup s experiences show how brutal and violent

Quiz 1 Replacement Assignment
1. John Winthrop s speech to the General Court of Massachusetts explained the Puritan concept of
freedom which consisted of natural liberty (doing whatever you want) and moral liberty (doing
what is good). In the Massachusetts Bay colony, the Puritans wanted to have the right to worship
and govern themselves but had to exercise good moral conduct by obeying religious and
government authority. Winthrop explains the idea of freedom with an example of the status of
women in society. He states that a woman has the liberty to choose her husband and thus is subject
to his authority. So, a woman gets the liberty to choose who rules over her but then must obey
everything her husband says. This shows that in the Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay colonies,
individuals needed to conform to the colony and practice what the authority wanted them to
practice; they had low individuality and women had low status and rights under her husband. The
trial of Anne Hutchinson also supports this idea as she was prosecuted for having views that
differed and endangered society by holding meetings to discuss religious issues. Hutchinson was
brought before the court led by John Winthrop because she seduced honest people in her meetings
(Foner 36) thereby dishonoring the commonwealth and disrupting society. Winthrop stated that
Hutchinson holding meetings and talking about churches is not fitting of her sex, showing that
women were not supposed to discuss
Lo 1 religious topics. At the conclusion of the trial, Hutchinson was subjected to being banished
from the colony. Though she did not agree with the judgement of

The Crime Of The City Of Peoria And On Campus Essay
Location of a university is a contributing factor to the safety of the students and campus. The
overall crime rating of the university is based on reported crime on campus and in surrounding
areas. Colleges with low amounts of reported crime are valued as being safer. Bradley University
earns an overall crimerating of C when comparing on campus, city, and regional crime against all
other schools nationwide. According to the data, Bradley s campus rated as a D+, Peoria rated as
an F+, the region rated as a D ( Bradley University Crime ). In this section, I will be addressing the
crime factors related to the city of Peoria and on campus.
City
According to the crime index, Peoria is considered to be safer than 7% of the cities in the US. In
Illinois, more than 97% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Peoria. When compared
to other communities with a similar population size, Peoria s crime rate is higher than average (
Crime Rates for Peoria, IL ). Like most cities, Peoria is going to have records of violent offenses
including things like rape, murder and non negligent manslaughter, armed robbery, and aggravated
assault. But different areas of Peoria are going to differ on their crime rate based on the class level
that lives there and the security precautions taken in that area. Because a lot of students will be
living off campus in houses or apartments, it is important for Bradley to understand the likelihood
of a crime involving those students might face while not

Private Military Contractors In The Middle East
Throughout the Middle East, the use of private military contractors has significantly heightened,
due to the call of attacks in these countries. PMC s take up much cost for a country to fund, and
the increasing rates are bringing drawbacks onto working citizens. However, there PMC s are also
vital in order for a country to maintain its armed security forces. On the other hand, mercenaries
are people who take part in armed conflicts. The PMC s hire these mercenaries to work under them
in helping take part in hostilities, but receive benefits for their own gains. Recently, the United
Nations MercenaryConvention (UNMC) has placed restrictions upon PMC s in the use of
mercenaries, in order to create specifications between commercial and government uses of these
protection services. Sweden has very little support and funds for the use of these PMC s, due to the
lack of high military activity.
Current Issues: In the Middle East, and other countries active in their military uses, are raising high
questions of controversy against whether or not PMC s should be implemented at an international
scale. After these countries in the middle east have been hit with attacks, there has been thought
on how to promote entrusted security for the countries. However, the use of these PMC s can lead
to security faults in diplomatic officials, and can cause unstable regions throughout a country as
we have seen happen in Libya in 2012. On the contrary, PMC s can be ideal in post war

Levitation Spell Case Study
The three Charms I chose for are the Levitation Charm, the Unlocking Charm and the
Locomotion Charm. Charm 1: The Levitation Charm: The incantation for the Levitation Charm
is Wingardium Leviosa (pronounced: wing GAR dee um lehvee O sa). The wand movement is
called Swish and Flick . You raise your wand to the left, then move it towards the right, then get
the point of your wand back to your body and finally forward it in the direction of your target. You
must do the Swish while you are saying Wingardium , and end the Swish just when you start to say
Leviosa and finish the Flick when you finish to say Leviosa . For this spell, high focus is very
important. While you are casting the spell, you must focus on your target, the thing you want to
levitate. While levitating the object, you must keep your focus on your target, otherwise you can
levitate something else. You must also visualize energy going through your wand. Charm 2: The
Unlocking Charm:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the wand movement, you must make a backward S , slightly curving up at the end. It is
important to begin the wand movement as you start saying the incantation, and finish the wand
movement at the exact moment you finish saying the incantation. You must time your cast with the
wand movement, because, at the end, the point of your wand must be directed towards the lock.
You don t have to really see the lock you want to unlock, but it somehow must be attached to the
door, which you want to unlock, so you must still point your wand to the door or other thing the
lock is attached to. With this spell, like with the Levitation Charm, it is very important to focus and
keep your focus while you are casting the spell. First, you must focus on the lock which you want to
unlock. Second, you must also visualize yourself unlocking the

These factors are insuring that companies are accountable and that the information they provide to
their investors is accurate and transparent. Accountability is the obligation of an individual or
organization to account for its activities, accept responsibility for them, and to disclose the results
in a transparent manner. It also includes the responsibility for money or other entrusted property.
(BusinessDictionary.com, 2015). A company is obligated to provide accurate information to their
investors, as they are shareholders in the company and thus hold an interest. This information is
provided to these investors by these companies preparing General Purpose Financial Reporting
(GPFR). These reports contain information such as Profit and Loss Statement, and the Balance
Sheet. This Balance sheet depicts the company s assets and liabilities, which determine the liquidity
of a company for that period in time. Transparency is needed when it comes to the interaction
between investors and these companies. The information contained in these GPFR must be in a
form that investors can simply understand. The information presented must disclose all relevant
details regarding the companies financial position. Transparency is minimum degree of disclosure
to which agreements, dealings, practices, and transactions are open to all for verification.

Betty Friedan Women s Rights
Who knows what women can be when they are finally free to be themselves Betty Friedan. Betty
Friedan was born on February 4, 1921, at a time when women were allowed to vote, however,
they were not respected in the workplace. Friedan was a revolutionary writer and women s rights
activist, who worked to bring women the same equality as men. She was an extraordinary woman
who spoke out about women s rights when others stayed silent. Betty Friedanwas the most
influential person in getting women the same equal rights as men. Friedan, along with many other
women, felt pressured to devote her time only to child care and not her dream; eventually, she
would change that. Although women were allowed to vote, they were not allowed to hold
government positions, and they were treated poorly if they did have a job. At a young age, Betty
Friedan witnessed her father force her mother to stay home and quit her job. Later on in her life,
Friedan was fired from her job for being pregnant, along with many other women. According to the

Persuasive Essay On To Kill A Mockingbird
Have you ever done something because everyone else was doing that thing? Have you ever bought
something because a friend or because everyone else has that thing? In To Kill a Mockingbird: The
Screenplay written by Horton Foote, Atticus Finch defends Tom Robinson an alleged rapist who
was an African American during the Great Depression. Everyone told Atticus what he was doing
was wrong, defending a black man during The Great Depression. Tom Robinson was an
innocent man in the Great Depression who s only case against him was that he was black and
was seen near the scene at the time when Mrs. Mayella was beaten. He was being unfairly tried
and represented in the court just because he was an African American during an extremely racist
time in the South. Atticus saw it different than everyone else, he was the only one willing to
believe Tom Robinson when everyone else was saying he was wrong because he was a black
man. Sometimes doing the right thing happens when everyone else is telling you are wrong.
Atticus Finch Believed in Tom Robinson when no one else did. Do what is right when everyone
is telling you are wrong. When Atticus is defending people, he will do whatever it takes to help
that person out even if they can t afford his services. When Mr.Cunningham was needing Atticus s
services and couldn t afford them, Atticus came up with a way that would help him.
Mr.Cunningham brought hickory nuts to Atticus in order to pay off a legal debt. No one would
help Mr.Cunningham, but Atticus saw that he was a good man and was worth fighting for him
even though he could not pay Atticus. He was the only one willing to help the poor in a time when
almost no one had money. He is paying me for some legal work I did for him... That s the only way
he can ... he has no money (Foote page 7).Atticus understood that it was tough times for most
people and that the farmers had no money so he came up with a way for Mr. Cunningham to pay
for his legal entailments when no else would help Mr.Cunningham. He knew in his heart that
helping Mr.Cunningham with his legal entailments was the right thing to do when no one else
would help him. Everyone thought only about themselves when Atticus was thinking about about

Lewis Base Research
Description
Everyday, we encounter solutions that can be classified as bases. What exactly is a base? A
scientist named Gilbert N. Lewis came up with the definition of a basic solution, which we now
refer to as a Lewis base, which we will discuss in this lesson.
!!!What Is a Lewis Base?
What makes a solution a base? Bases are solutions that are generally described as bitter and
slippery or slimy feeling. However, how can we tell in an acid base chemical reaction, which
chemical compound is a base? There are various definitions from different scientists on what a base
is. In 1923, a scientist named Gilbert N. Lewis came up with a definition of a base. This definition
of a base is now referred to as a Lewis base.

The hydroxide ion acts as a Lewis base.
The anion (negatively charged hydroxide ion) acts as a Lewis base
!!!Lesson Summary
In 1923, Gilbert N. Lewis came up with the definition base, which we now refer to as Lewis base.
A __Lewis base__ is a compound that is an electron pair donor or a nucleophile, which is a
substance that donates electrons. In an acid base reaction, we can recognize the Lewis base as the
compound that donates its nonbonding electrons.
Lewis bases are typically compounds that contain nonbonding pairs. Phosphine (PH3), organic
compounds containing phosphorus (P), amines and anions act as Lewis bases because nonbonding
pairs are present in these compounds. These nonbonding pairs of electrons are then donated in an
acid base chemical reaction.

I. Introduction The mind body problem is a problem that has been around for a long time. The
problem is the question Does the body rule the mind, or does the mind rule the body? , the reason
it s still a problem today is because we don t have a scientific understanding of how the mindand
body interact. The interactions of the mind and the matter of the body is seen every day. You can

Lastly, I will wrap up this paper my evaluation of the arguments and the conclusion.
II. Leibniz Principle of Identity of Indiscernible The Leibniz Principle of Identity introduces if M =
B, then M and B share all the same properties. M has property P, b does not have property P, if m
has a property that b lacks, then m в‰ b, therefore m в‰ b. Using the superman example, Lois
Lane wants to marry Superman. Lois Lane does not want to marry Clark Kent. Therefore,
Superman is not identical with Clark Kent. In the eyes of Lois Lane, Superman is the hero she
wants to marry while Clark Kent is just a regular guy. Unknowing to her, they are both the same
person. Leibniz law shows that superman is known for all his super powers and special abilities
and everyone thinks that Clark Kent is just a regular guy so the two could not be one of the same.
When Lois lane marries Superman, she also marries Clark Kent which defeats the use of this law.
This same law can be applied to the mind body problem being that you cannot doubt having a brain
but you can doubt having a body. My body is dubitable, and it is divisible. My mind is indubitable
and it is indivisible. With that, one can say that the mind and body are two different beings because
they do not share the same properties.
III. Descartes s Argument for Dualism: The Indubitability Argument The Indubitability Argument is
basically saying I can think and perceive distinctly and clearly, therefore my mind exists; however,

How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect The Spread Of...
In the time of the Industrial Revolution, Manchester was a developing country, becoming a leading
textile manufacturing center after the invention of the cotton mill was created in 1780. But for
every action, there is an opposite reaction. Whether it was a drastic growth in population and how
that affected Manchester, or the unsanitary conditions that workers went through every day, or how
the working class was affected with all the reforms going on, Manchester at the time went through
some dramatic issues. Population in Manchester overtime grew drastically. This was all due thanks
to the invention of the cotton mill. For example, in the image starred, it shows how population

More issues such as sickness, and death arose due to the overcrowding of people and the
unsanitary conditions they lived in. Thomas B. Macaulay, a social historian, states people live
longer because they are better fed, better lodged, better clothed, and better attended in sickness.
(Doc 3) This without a doubt means that if people had better conditions in living, and not as
much overcrowding, they would live longer. One big issue that was an ongoing problem during
this time was disease and infection. Disease would take a lot of lives, and people could not do
anything about it because, because they did not know how to fight it. Edwin Chadwick stated
that the annual loss of life from filth and bad ventilation is greater than the loss from death or
wounds in modern wars. (Doc 6) With foods being contaminated, it was obvious that people
would have died from infection and disease. In Manchester during this time, people were dying
rapidly due to many reasons. The Lancer, a British medical journal, published a work stating the
average death in certain places. More of the working class would be likely to die faster than a
regular artisan or trader. (Doc 8) The main reason this happened is obvious. It was because the
working class would live in poor conditions, and would be overcrowded. With this being said, the

Animal Farm Vs Animal Farm
Humans have aspired to develop and implement an ideal society. A society is a fragile, intricate
concept that contains many important factors. Throughout history, there have been countless
attempts to create a flawless society. None of these attempts have resulted in a perfect society.
Many attempts have failed; however, many have been successful. The novels Lord of the Flies, by
William Golding and AnimalFarm, by George Orwellexhibit two different societies that both result
in failure due to a desire for power and the regulations and rules that are established.
Lord of the Flies is a novel that takes place during a nuclear war. It depicts the story of several
young children taken away from the real world and forced to live by themselves on a deserted
island. The novel describes the childrens attempts to govern themselves and create a society.
There are two clear leaders, Ralph and Jack who stand out from the beginning of the story. When
the children arrive on the island, they find a conch and instinctually accept without question that
whoever holds the conch possesses the power to speak: Ralph smiled and held up the conch for
silence. Listen, everybody (Golding 23). The conch is an early symbol of power and authority.
This also symbolizes hope for their society. It creates order and unites everyone under the conch.
The conch represents the power to make decisions and voice opinion. As the novel progresses, this
universally accepted rule becomes obsolete and is

The Importance of Discipline
The Importance of Discipline
By: Alexis Wagner
June 14, 2013
The dictionary definition for discipline is a branch of learning, training that develops self control.
Discipline to me is a form of work that takes time; but, in the end works for your good. A person
can be someone disciplined or taught a new way of doing something they can t or don t want to do,
or be self disciplined, already possessing an inner strength of mind and determination to do these
things own their own. (Control is a key factor in self discipline.) Mastering the ability to make
yourself do something over and over again until you get it right is self discipline. Without discipline
no one would push themselves or be pushed by others into achieving things ... Show more content

Obedience is being willing to do a command , being able to follow instructions, being able to do
things as they were told (meaning correctly), and being able to do this when they were told.
Obedience shows a common feature that we see with discipline.
If you can sing very well but your singing coach wants you to sing it an octave higher, that is an
example of where discipline is needed. You needto first accept the fact that the coach is trying to
help you and improve your singing abilities. You have to get out of your comfort zone and work
towards hitting that note and achieving that goal. Instead of you looking at the task as a form of
punishment, you should look at it as reaching a higher ground, or going to the next level in your
singing career. All of these things you must do to accomplish that one task, and not only will it
require dedication, it will require discipline, not only for others but for you.
Discipline in schools may reduce the violence and vandalism and help students to focus better on
their studies and future careers. Discipline is important in the households most of all. Parents must
raise their children in a pleasant and disciplined atmosphere. They should teach them the right
values. They should themselves lead an orderly life so that their children can learn from their
examples. Talking less in class, raising your hand, asking questions, talking softer, and speaking up

Textuality Of Female Power Essay
In the modern American humanities classroom, whether it is literature, political science, or history,
faculty may find it quite difficult to construct a framework for the analysis of women s pan
historical place in power and in medieval and Early Modern British history, literature and popular
culture. We are confronted with the first questions why should American student care? How do I
make this subject interesting to them? And then we are faced with some practical pedagogical
questions: where do I find the textual evidence, historical research and gynocritical material to
create a full syllabus? How do I demonstrate the historicity of women s power and its circulation
simultaneous with the containment of patriarchal power? How do I move past medieval and
Renaissance women s inherent marginality in the surviving textual evidence and help my students

held power? What types of assignments might I create to help students investigate the nuances of
female power in medieval and Early Modern life?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Heating Phases That Occurred During The Experiment Essay
1. Figure 1 shows the heating phases that occurred during the experiment. There is an exponential
decrease in temperature as the depth of the water increases. Water has a high specific heat capacity
which means that it can resist changes in temperature. This is coupled with the fact that solar
radiation progressively loses its penetrative ability as the depth of the water increases. The light
attenuation in lakes describes the decrease in actual light that can penetrate a water column as well
as the fact that most of the energythat the light has is absorbed by the surface of the water.
2. The end of step 4 during the experiment creates the tripartite thermal structure within the lake
substitute. This is composed of three parts called the epilimnion, the thermocline and the
hypolimnion. The epilimnion represents the surface of the lake which experiences the most heat
during the summer and has the highest temperature compared to the other parts of the thermal
structure. The thermocline is the section of water that has the large exponential decrease in
temperature. This is shown in figure 1 at the end of the heating phase, the temperature decreases by
a large amount as the depth increases from 1cm to 9cm. Finally there is the hypolimnion which is
shown in figure 1 in all phases as the cold part of the water column. This is the most unaffected part,
as the solar radiation does not effectively penetrate that deep into the water hence the temperature
stays almost constant. The

However, this is not true, because as mentioned above, the taste for Chinese landscape motifs was
already seen in the 13th century. It would be more appropriate to see the works of BihzДЃd s
figural paintings rather than landscape paintings to define the BihzДЃd style. According to the one
of the contemporary historical records, BДЃbor nДЃma, BДЃbor wrote BihzДЃd was good at
portraits of beard man. The statement by BДЃbor means people who lived in the same period
thought BihzДЃd s strong point was drawing figures. Figure 1 is the portrait of Dervish, which is
attributed to BihzДЃd. The brush work is similar to the techniques of Chinese nail head rat tail
(й‡ й йј е°ѕin Chinese) (see fig 2). Compared to classical style of Persian painting (see fig 3), the
depiction of hairs, mustaches and beard are so fine. The shadowing and the realistic depiction of
ears, nose and mouth are also rarely seen in the classical Persian painting. The Chinese derived
features of this painting (fig 1) mean, in this period, Persian painters imitated the works of Chinese
paintings. And by doing so, they gradually introduced some traces of Chinese painting techniques
to Persian painting. The influence of Chinese painting had great impact before the Timurid
dynasties, but according Sugimura, Persian painters started to borrowing the physiognomy for the

Getting Rid Of Zoos Essay
Getting Rid of Zoos
Why should we get rid of zoos? Many people enjoy going to zoos. However, they don t think
about animals who live in zoos. Zoos collect different animals in one environment, but not all
animals live in this environment. No place can keep different animals in their environment in small
place because nobody can change the weather. We should get rid of zoos for two reasons.
Frist, there is no place like home, and a zoo is not home for an animal. There are some animals live
in wild, such as elephants and lions. Zoos take animals out of wild into place which is not same
as their environment. In the wild, chimpanzees don t venture beyond 5 meters from their
mothers until they reach 3 years of age. In captivity, new borns are often torn away from their
mothers to be sold or exploited for photo ops. Most animals like elephants suffer from the small

Visual Perception Of Visual Processing
Abstract
The use of visual perception is very important in our everyday lives. Male and female
undergraduates at the University of New Orleans were tested in their abilities to distinguish the
differences in 3 minutes within an allotted time. We found that gender difference sin the task were
of low significance.
Gender Differences in Visual Perception: A Spot the Difference Task The use of visual
perception processing comes in to play in various concepts of everyday living. We use our
visual processing skills to gather information about the environment and integrate that
information into what we have already acquired. In concordance to the various learning
processes, without the use of visual processing, we would not be able to learn several processes
that are used with vision. For instance, reading, writing, driving, good eye hand coordination all
require the use of our visual fields to learn how to do these things. Much research has been done
on the use of the visual fields in various tasks and studies. In various studies, researchers have
looked at lexical problems in the visual field, spot change differences in the visual field and
change detection abilities in relation to visual perception. Though the spot the difference task is a
great study to look at in relation to visual perception, very little research has been done on the task
and its relation to vision. Similar to the current study, researchers (Reis, Fallon, and Waite)

The War On Alcohol By Lisa Mcgirr
In Lisa McGirr s book The War on Alcohol it is hard for the reader to pinpoint one central thesis.
One thesis however, can be simply marked down to the title of one of her chapters entitled
Selective Enforcement. During the Prohibition period police were cracking down on speakeasies
and bootleggers and people smuggling alcohol across state lines. However when policewould make
these arrests the people being arrested were mostly of minority origins. Although poor whites from
the South did get arrested as well, most of the jails and prisons were made up of blacks, hispanics
and latinos. McGirr said that Uneven enforcement was the hidden reason the white, urbane upper
middle classcould laugh at the antics of Izzy Einstein and Moe Smith, while Mexicans, poor
European immigrants, African Americans, poor whites in the South, and the unlucky experienced
the full brunt of Prohibition enforcement s deadly reality (McGirr, 71).
This is an important sentence by McGirr because it helps extend her thesis more. What she is
saying with this is that because of this selective enforcement that the police did, they would not go
and bust a nightclub filled with the upper class and would let the urbane elite (McGirr, 71) get
away with drinking and distributing alcohol, even though it was illegal. Instead, the police would
go and bust the poor, lower class of minorities that were making and distributing alcohol.
In the South, poor African Americans and whites would work together to

(2002), states that, It can be said that one is a sex and one does gender; that sex typically, but not

Building Healthy Society
The peoples of the dominant human societies lost their sense of attachment to the living earth,
and societies became divided between the rulers and the ruled, exploiters and exploited. The
brutal competition for power created a relentless play or die, rule or be ruled dynamic of violence
and oppression and served to elevate the most ruthless to the highest positions of power. Since the
fateful turn, the major portion of the resources available to human societies has been diverted from
meeting the needs of life to supporting the military forces, prisons, palaces, temples, and patronage
for retainers and propagandists on which the system of domination in turn depends. Great
civilizations built by ambitious rulers fell to successive waves of... Show more content on

Over a lifetime, those who enjoy the requisite emotional support traverse a pathway from the
narcissistic, undifferentiated magical consciousness of the newborn to the fully mature, inclusive,
and multidimensional spiritual consciousness of the wise elder. The lower, more narcissistic, orders
of consciousness are perfectly normal for young children, but become sociopathic in adults and are
easily encouraged and manipulated by advertisers and demagogues. The higher orders of
consciousness are a necessary foundation of mature democracy. Perhaps Empire s greatest tragedy
is that its cultures and institutions systematically suppress our progress to the higher orders of
consciousness.
Given that Empire has prevailed for 5,000 years, a turn from Empire to Earth Community might
seem a hopeless fantasy if not for the evidence from values surveys that a global awakening to the
higher levels of human consciousness is already underway. This awakening is driven in part by a
communications revolution that defies elite censorship and is breaking down the geographical
barriers to intercultural exchange.
The consequences of the awakening are manifest in the civil rights, women s, environmental, peace,
and other social movements. These movements in turn gain energy from the growing leadership of
women, communities of color, and indigenous peoples, and from a shift in the

Environmental Pollution To Save The Environment
Whether individuals choose to believe in it or not, environmental destruction is a very real and
apparent social problem that needs to be addressed before it is too late to save the Earth.
Numerous factors such as the climate change, disposal of waste, deforestation, and the quality of
air and water impact the destruction of our world. The majority of the blame for our Earth s
deterioration falls on the humanrace, however, some of the blame does fall on industries, that for
example may improperly dispose of their waste. Because of the actions and behaviors of humans
as a whole, the environment is suffering irreversible damage. The small population of people that
do advocate for change or engage in environment friendly activities is not enough to help fix the
environment alone. Drastic changes need to start being made if the human race wants a chance at
saving our environment. This change is urgent because problems are not linear. If you inflict
enough damage, you ve shifted the planet into a whole new state and the damage spirals out of
control (1). Examples of this detrimental damage are demonstrated in The Guardiannews article,
Humans have destroyed a tenth of Earth s wilderness in 25 years study, where the effects of
deforestation are focused on. By invading the wilderness, many animals habitats are disrupted,
consequently putting them in danger of becoming extinct. Once this habitat is disturbed and
destroyed, it is officially gone and cannot be restored. Humans

The Role Of Dozza Prison In Italy
As human beings are weak compared to Jesus, we are easily affected by evil temptations such as
greed or anger. Consequently, we have committed crimes or broke rules at least once in our lives
and regretted what we did. Even though, breaking rules is natural behavior for us, it is not simple
to punish or forgive criminals. Most people claim that laws are the absolute truth or value to punish
and judge people who break laws. However, reality is not that simple; there are complexed values
such as emotion that cannot be written on the paper. If law was the absolute punishment, no one
would feel guilty and struggle after they punished by the laws or would blame others after they
finished their punishment. Then, how can we truly forgive ourselves?... Show more content on

This verse exactly depicts the Crime and Punishment s main theme; Love is the way to
rehabilitate. Even though she was a sinner, Jesus truly loves her and blesses her. He forgives the
woman with true love. This is what we should keep in mind as we are Christian who try to imitate
what Jesus did. A strong law and harsh punishment is not the absolute way to make people to
rehabilitate; it could be the wall for criminals that blocks the way to the society. Therefore, We
should forgive, love and give them one more chance even though they are the

Visible Minority And Immigrant Racism
Visible Minority and Immigrant Racism in the Canadian Work Environment
In the ideal world, every person is treated equally in the workplace whether it be hiring, promotion,
assignments or termination. However in reality, racial discrimination and harassment remain
pervasive in the workplace, with 1 in 4 visible minority workers who reported that they had
experienced racial harassment or discrimination in the workplace [3]. In this essay, I will be
discussing the social history of racism in the workplace, the nature of racism in the labour force,
motives and factors, immigration policies, temporary programs and exploitation of employment,
the de skilling of individuals and non recognition of foreign credentials, the social history of racism
in the workplace, racism in the sociological conflict theory paradigm, and finally, policy
recommendations to aimed to eliminate and decrease racism in the work environment. In the
Canadian work environment, racism exists as a complex and multidimensional inequality for
visible minorities and immigrants, and can be examined socially, economically and politically using
the sociological Marxist conflict theory paradigm.

The film I watched was titled Food, Inc. This film examines the food industry and the industrial

J. C. Penny Organizational Culture
The culture at J. C. Penny before Johnson can be described as inclusive and employee centered.
The organizational culture can perhaps be described as a hierarch culture. A hierarchy culture has
an internal focus and produces more formalized and structured work environment (Kreitner, p. 70).
The founder, James Cash Penny, managed his stores under the philosophy of providing the best
customer service at the best price. He truly believed in giving his customers the best deal possible.
The company continued to thrive under this basic tenant, but started to lose its market share and
overall appeal in the early 2000s as the internet and small specialty stores like H M and the GAP
started to attract more of their customers.

C. Penny s over 100 year presence in the retail industry, any organizational change would require
careful and thoughtful planning. Edgar Schein, former professor at MIT Sloan School of
Management and Organizational Behavior scholar notes that changing organizational culture
involves a teaching process (Kreitner, p. 74). This process is beneficial for both the existing
employees and new leadership. One of the processes that I would have recommended to Johnson at
the beginning of his term with J.C. Penny would be the organizational activities, processes or
outcomes that leaders pay attention to, measure, and control. The behavior of Johnson and his new
management team suggested that they rejected learning about the existing culture at J.C. Penny
and how and why things are done the way they were. To meet the objectives of the board of
directors, the immediate focus was to focus on what he thought the customer wanted...a method
that was proven to be successful at Apple, but failed at J.C. Penny. Had he spent time getting to
know his employees and explained his vision for J.C. Penny, he would have received valuable
information on not just the how, but what why things are done in the manner they are done. Why
it was important to keep the coupons that customers loved to use. Johnson knew the history of
James Cash Penny and thought that his Fair and Square pricing strategy was all that was needed
to transform the company. But he failed to truly understand Mr. Penny s philosophy the Golden

On the daily basis, the Department of Transportation receives hundreds of letters and e mails
regarding various transportation related issues. However, that is one of the Department of
Transportation weaknesses. Therefore, Steve Anderson a middle level manager with exceptional
skills in problem solving was up for the task (Lee, 2002). Moreover, Steve started analyzing the
problem that the Department of Transportation had on responding the tremendous amounts of letter
and e mails. Therefore, Steve began implementing new strategies to improve the Department of
Transportation responding time. Furthermore, the agency started posting 35 news releases monthly
to have the public inform on various types of information regarding transportation issues (Lee,
2002). Likewise, another of the strategies that Steve begin utilizing citizen participation
components. The Department of Transportation started using according to Lee (2002), focus group
sessions, conducting surveys, newsletters, and brochures (p.205). However, despite the Department
of Transportation effort the problem would not get resolve due to the lack of community
participation. Moreover, as Steve notice that the number of complaints has not diminished
significantly, he came to a conclusion. The conclusion that Steve came to is that the root of the
problem is the absence of cooperation among different units either inside or outside the agency
(Lee, 2002). Further, Steve believes that sometimes the answer to a citizen

Motivation, Self And Unconscious Interactions
Motivation is literally the desire to do things. According to the Business Dictionary, motivation is
also the internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continuing
interested and committed to a job, role or subject, or to make an effort to attain a goal. Furthermore,
conscious and unconscious interactions are the reasons for motivation. These conscious and
unconscious interaction factors include: intensity of desire/need, incentive/reward value of the goal,
and expectations of the individual and of his or her peers. As a whole, these are the causes for a
person behaving a particular way (Business Dictionary, 2016). It is because of motivation, or the
lack of, that Joe and his supervisor are in this tough situation that needs answers to how motivate

Purple Rain Analysis
In 1984 s Purple Rain, the title track is fictionally written and arranged by the women in Prince s
character s (simply known as The Kid ) nightclub band. Out of egotism, The Kid refuses to play
any of their compositions. After stage flubs and personal trauma, a humbled Kid performs Purple
Rainin dedication to his father. He moves the audience, and regains the respect of his peers. It s
considered his finest moment (and a defining point in the film). Art imitates life, because if I had to
name one song that encompasses all that I ve described about Princes music and his methods, I d
say Purple Rain. Welcome to my #1 favorite, everyone. I know, I know, how clichГ©, but
clichГ©s are so for a reason. Whatever they re about has stood the test of time and can be
applied over and over. Purple Rain is a timeless classic and goes on the Songs That Should Never
Be Remade list with Sam Cooke s A Change is Gonna Come and Etta James At Last. It endures
because it s one of the most emotive pieces of music there is. The hopelessness that comes with
not being able to prevent or reverse a loss pulsates in every word, note and chord from the first
transfixing strum. The heartbreak swells with Rain s multiple peaks, predominately characterized
by wailing guitars, falling strings and Prince s pleading vocals. He sings of regret with such
intensifying anguish, it erupts into howls around the last 3:00 minutes. Yeah, the last 3:00 minutes

What is your inquiry question and how does it relate to the improved learning of your students?
My question for Inquiry is:
How can I differentiate Mathematics in order to support and extend students?
By differentiating the numeracy program, all students needs will be targeted by exposing students
to outcomes and activities, which are achievable and challenging for students. The focus learning
area for each lesson and group of learners will be tailored to suit the individual learning needs of the
students as will the set tasks associated with the learning focus. Students will be supported by the
class teacher and the strategies put in place within each lesson. The purpose of differentiating is to

The effective practice I observed that will help with my own project and future teaching was
seeing a very traditional style of lesson, that amalgamated modern practice of short mini lessons
inside of a traditional style of Math classroom.
What impact has this project had on teaching and learning?
It was valuable to see an experienced and leading teacher at the school using a concise learning
intention for the students. They understood what the framework for their success would be defined
as and thus they could work towards this goal.
What impact has this project had on teaching and learning?
The main impact this lesson had on my project was seeing tasks set that catered for each student.
For example one expectation was for the students to choose their own question to answer from a
range of different questions that all varied in complexity and difficulty, and to answer them in four
different ways. I will attempt to use this style of challenging my students into future lessons.

Winston Churchill Essay
Winston Churchill
Churchill, Sir Winston Leonard Spencer
Churchill was born at Blenheim Palace, his family s ancestral seat in Oxfordshire, on November
30, 1874. He was the older son of Lord Randolph Henry Spencer Churchill, a British statesman
who rose to be chancellor of the Exchequer and leader of the House of Commons. His mother was
an American, Jennie Jerome, the daughter of a New York financier. Churchill inherited a family
tradition of statesmanship that went back to the great English general John Churchill, the 1st Duke
of Marlborough, in the 17th century.

Again his newspaper dispatches were followed by a book, The River War (1899) in two volumes,
the most substantial work he wrote before entering Parliament.
Churchill resigned his army commission in 1899 and turned to journalism and politics. He ran
for a seat in Parliament as a Conservative candidate but was not elected. He then went to South
Africa to cover the Boer War that had just broken out between Britain and the Boers, descendants
of Dutch settlers. He was captured by the Boers and imprisoned at the State Model School in
Pretoria. He managed to escape from prison and then take the railroad into Portuguese East Africa,
a neat little trick that made him a national hero. He then returned to South Africa and sought
another army commission. He fought and wrote about the war until he returned to London in the
summer of 1900. His newspaper dispatches were promptly reprinted in two books, London to
Ladysmith via Pretoria (1900) and Ian When Churchill returned to England in 1900, his South
African exploits had made him famous, and he was elected to the House of Commons. Though he
was a Conservative, he criticized military spending and supported free trade, which soon resulted
in a conflict with the Conservative leadership, who supported large military budgets and protective
tariffs. In 1904 he crossed the floor of the House to take a seat with the Liberal Party.

The Holocaust And The Loss Of The Holocaust
The Holocaust will never be forgotten and it should never be forgotten. There are many people out
in the world that lost family members and friends through the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a very
brutal and stressful time for anyone that had to experience it. There are people out in the world that
are still alive from the Holocaustand they tell stories about what they had to do and also what they
had to deal with during the Holocaust. People may think that it is dumb to not forget about the
Holocaust and we should all forget about it so we can move on from it but we need to know what
happened so that whatever happened in the Holocaust could never happen to us.
It is therefore important to remember the Holocaust because it is an example of how these
trends could evolve into something far more threatening. However, the Holocaust is more than a
warning for the past. The human cost of the lost of six million lives is incalculable; consider
what could have been achieved by those who died, what could have been discovered, written,
invented and prevented. There is a very long list of Holocaust survivors who have positively
contributed to society but they represent a tiny portion of talent and promise of the generations of
European jews lost to us. Many did there best to assimilate wherever they were by simply building
new ordinary live for themselves.
Another reason why we should never forget the Holocaust is because in the book The Night it was

Female Hysteria In The 1920 s
Female Hysteria
Hysteria of both genders was widely discussed in the medical literature of the nineteenth century.
Women were considered to have exhibited a wide array of symptoms according to
motherjones.com, which included faintness, nervousness, sexual desire, insomnia, fluid retention,
heaviness in the abdomen, wetness between the thighs , muscle spasm, shortness of breath,
irritability, loss of appetite for food or sex, and a tendency to cause trouble.
In an episode from the series Miss Fisher s Murder Mysteries, a psychiatrist is seen taking care of
several women in the 1920 s. Each women highlights a symptom. From years of being told there
is something wrong with them, these women have come to believe what they were hearing. One
women removes her clothing whenever possible, another is extremely nervous, and another is
unable to express sadness after her son passed away. Clearly the psychiatrist does care deeply
about his patients and wants them to recover, although his medieval application lacks in favorable

  • 2. Essay about Japanese Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) JAPANESE FDI In the era of globalization, international trade and international investments are expanding at exponential rates. Almost all developed countries are involved in Foreign Direct Investment processes, both in the form of outward and inward FDI. Among those developed countries there is the case of Japan that is different; Japanese attitude towards FDI has always been, in fact, very cautious. One one hand, Japanese outward foreign investment and exports have played a fundamental role in the postwar period of economic rise; on the other hand, the accesses to the domestic market by foreign investors, the so called Inward FDI, has been very limited. (Paprzycki, Fukao, 2008). Japan is a highly industrialised country, it has a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it has been obliged to deregulate foreign exchange controls by observing article 8 of the IMF (International Monetary Fund) charter. Despite all this, Japanese government at that time considered inward foreign investment as a threat for local market; in 1967, in fact, the Gaishi Shingikai (Foreign Investment Deliberation Council) highlighted the negative points of the liberal capitalization, defining the domination of foreign firms as negative for Japan s economy. (Suginohara, 2008). From 1960, with the approval by the government of the Basic Plan for Liberalization of Trade and Foreign Exchange, a major number of sectors was liberalized; Japan subsequently liberalized imports, capital transactions and financial sector. Starting from the second half of the 1960s Inward and outward FDI were liberalized step by step, and in May 1972 the possession of foreign currency by residents was liberalized. In December 1980 the Foreign Capital Law was incorporated to the Foreign Exchange Law. This revised law was aimed to liberalize capital account transactions (Aramaki, 2006). The revision of the Foreign Exchange Law permitted the creation of a large number of foreign owned companies and a consequent phenomenal growth of FDI in the manufacturing sector (from 1,092 millions $ in 1976 1980 to 2,359 millions $ in 1981 1985 and 7,092 millions $ between 1986 and 1990) . • 3. Laundry Detergents As A Cleansing Agent Introduction Laundry detergents are a cleansing agent that is widely used in the industry to clean laundry. The term detergent refers to mixtures of chemical compounds including Alkyl Sulphonates, which are similar to soap but less affected by hard water (Farlex, 2014). Like soap, detergent increases the ability of water to penetrate fabric and break down greases and dirt, however they are derived from organic acids rather than fatty acids (Mifflin, 2005). A detergentis an ion or molecule that contains both polar and nonpolar components. The polar component allows the detergent to dissolve in the water, whereas the nonpolar component solubilizes greasy materials that are the usual target of the cleaning process. Their molecules then surround the particles of grease and dirt, allowing them to be carried away thus leaving your clothes clean. This EEI explores the performance of two different laundry powders (Fab and Woolworths select Home brand) in different types of water; ranging from soft to hard. These detergents were compared and analysed in different types of water from varying locations to determine whether water hardness has an effect on the cleaning ability of detergents, and whether products should be specifically formulated depending on the type of water. Basic laundry powders Laundry detergents such as Fab and Woolworths Select Home brand are composed of many elements that each play important roles in the laundry process depending on the cleaning tasks ... • 4. Carbon Dioxide Is Able To Influence Emissions Carbon FRQ a)Carbon is able to form covalent bonds with hydrogen and other atoms because it has four valence electrons. Because carbon needs eight total electrons when its orbital is filled, it needs to form four more bonds with other atoms. Also, since it is able to form bonds with four other atoms, carbon has the potential to form single, double, or triple bonds. b)The greenhouse effect refers to radiation from the sun as it warms the earth. This is caused by the presence of several greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide being one of them. Carbon dioxide is formed when carbon compounds undergo oxidation reactions. Carbon dioxide helps confine heat in the earth s atmosphere as it reflects from the sun to the earth, and thus contributes to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Homeschooling Homeschooling The definition of homeschooling is to instruct a pupil in an educational program outside of established schools (www.Dictionary.com). Homeschooling is a good alternative to public schools because of certain religious issues, standardized test success, and variety of options for homeschool students, but in some states homeschoolers are having trouble with the school system. Homeschooling has been on the rise in the United States and its popularity continues to grow among American families. According to the U.S Department of Education, in 2003 there were 1.1 million children in grades K thru 12 being homeschooled . The 3 most popular reasons for homeschooling are concerns about the environment of other schools, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the problems with public schools are that children who go there with certain beliefs and customs that they participate in at home that they cannot do at school. Many citizens in states such as Pennsylvania are having issues with school systems making regulations on homeschooling that are not allowed (Doherty, Brian). One of the main arguments that parents are using deals with the Religious Freedom Protection act. This act states that state agencies may not compel conduct or expression which violates a specific tenet of a person s religious faith. It also argues that nowhere in religious scripture is authority for education given over to government. Not only are parents saying that the Bible directly calls them out to educate their own children, but that it is the choice of the parents. Although there are many people choosing this method of education because of religious reasons, many parents who are not religious are choosing homeschooling because of the opportunities it opens up for their children and them. Many parents choose it because they believe that personal learning will be better for their children and there are so many products on the market today that it has been simple to be homeschooled (Kiesling, Angie). Homeschooling is also advantageous to students is because of the variety of options that are available. One of these options deals with the curriculums that are available. Unlike public schools, ... • 6. Frederick Douglas And Solomon Northrup Essay Throughout the years slaveholders made claims that justified why the institution of slavery was acceptable, however, many abolitionist made claims that differed the majority opinion. Abolitionist began to publicize stories advocating truths about this institution. Fredrick Douglas and Solomon Northrup shared their life stories where they exposed their experiences as slaves in the Southern world.Slaves holders make several arguments to justify slavery, meanwhile, slaves themselves completely disagree with all the things the masters claim. Violence versus paternalism, true christianity and hypocritical christianity, and the role knowledge and ignorance and whether slaves are truly happily plays are all powerful ideas in both sides convey . To begin with, slave masters thought of themselves as a paternal figure. George Fizhugh, an author who advocates slavery, explains this interesting concept of Blacks being viewed as childlike people. He states the Negro is but a grown up child, and must be governed as child, not as lunatic or criminal. The master occupies toward him the place of parent or guardian .The masters truly believed that they were meant to be paternal to these underprivileged folks who did not have (and in some cases, know) parents or families. They believed they were meant to raise and care for the Blacks that entered their plantations. However, slaves told a different story. • 7. John Winthrop Speech Ahsi Lo Professor Ruane HUM 2331 US History to 1865: MWF 1 1:50 20 September 2017 Quiz 1 Replacement Assignment 1. John Winthrop s speech to the General Court of Massachusetts explained the Puritan concept of freedom which consisted of natural liberty (doing whatever you want) and moral liberty (doing what is good). In the Massachusetts Bay colony, the Puritans wanted to have the right to worship and govern themselves but had to exercise good moral conduct by obeying religious and government authority. Winthrop explains the idea of freedom with an example of the status of women in society. He states that a woman has the liberty to choose her husband and thus is subject to his authority. So, a woman gets the liberty to choose who rules over her but then must obey everything her husband says. This shows that in the Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay colonies, individuals needed to conform to the colony and practice what the authority wanted them to practice; they had low individuality and women had low status and rights under her husband. The trial of Anne Hutchinson also supports this idea as she was prosecuted for having views that differed and endangered society by holding meetings to discuss religious issues. Hutchinson was brought before the court led by John Winthrop because she seduced honest people in her meetings (Foner 36) thereby dishonoring the commonwealth and disrupting society. Winthrop stated that Hutchinson holding meetings and talking about churches is not fitting of her sex, showing that women were not supposed to discuss Lo 1 religious topics. At the conclusion of the trial, Hutchinson was subjected to being banished from the colony. Though she did not agree with the judgement of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The overall crime rating of the university is based on reported crime on campus and in surrounding areas. Colleges with low amounts of reported crime are valued as being safer. Bradley University earns an overall crimerating of C when comparing on campus, city, and regional crime against all other schools nationwide. According to the data, Bradley s campus rated as a D+, Peoria rated as an F+, the region rated as a D ( Bradley University Crime ). In this section, I will be addressing the crime factors related to the city of Peoria and on campus. City According to the crime index, Peoria is considered to be safer than 7% of the cities in the US. In Illinois, more than 97% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Peoria. When compared to other communities with a similar population size, Peoria s crime rate is higher than average ( Crime Rates for Peoria, IL ). Like most cities, Peoria is going to have records of violent offenses including things like rape, murder and non negligent manslaughter, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. But different areas of Peoria are going to differ on their crime rate based on the class level that lives there and the security precautions taken in that area. Because a lot of students will be living off campus in houses or apartments, it is important for Bradley to understand the likelihood of a crime involving those students might face while not ... • 9. Private Military Contractors In The Middle East Throughout the Middle East, the use of private military contractors has significantly heightened, due to the call of attacks in these countries. PMC s take up much cost for a country to fund, and the increasing rates are bringing drawbacks onto working citizens. However, there PMC s are also vital in order for a country to maintain its armed security forces. On the other hand, mercenaries are people who take part in armed conflicts. The PMC s hire these mercenaries to work under them in helping take part in hostilities, but receive benefits for their own gains. Recently, the United Nations MercenaryConvention (UNMC) has placed restrictions upon PMC s in the use of mercenaries, in order to create specifications between commercial and government uses of these protection services. Sweden has very little support and funds for the use of these PMC s, due to the lack of high military activity. Current Issues: In the Middle East, and other countries active in their military uses, are raising high questions of controversy against whether or not PMC s should be implemented at an international scale. After these countries in the middle east have been hit with attacks, there has been thought on how to promote entrusted security for the countries. However, the use of these PMC s can lead to security faults in diplomatic officials, and can cause unstable regions throughout a country as we have seen happen in Libya in 2012. The proposed changes regarding leases and their recognition on the balance sheet, has been released in an exposure draft ED 242 by Australian Accounting Standards Board, otherwise referred to as AASB. The purpose of these proposed changes aims to bring transparency and accountability to these reports prepared by Australian companies. Leasing is a means of gaining access to assets, of obtaining finance, and of reducing an entity s exposure to the risks of asset ownership. (AASB Exposure Draft, 2013). Betty Friedan was born on February 4, 1921, at a time when women were allowed to vote, however, they were not respected in the workplace. Friedan was a revolutionary writer and women s rights activist, who worked to bring women the same equality as men. She was an extraordinary woman who spoke out about women s rights when others stayed silent. Betty Friedanwas the most influential person in getting women the same equal rights as men. Friedan, along with many other women, felt pressured to devote her time only to child care and not her dream; eventually, she would change that. Although women were allowed to vote, they were not allowed to hold government positions, and they were treated poorly if they did have a job. At a young age, Betty Friedan witnessed her father force her mother to stay home and quit her job. Later on in her life, Friedan was fired from her job for being pregnant, along with many other women. • 13. Persuasive Essay On To Kill A Mockingbird Have you ever done something because everyone else was doing that thing? Have you ever bought something because a friend or because everyone else has that thing? In To Kill a Mockingbird: The Screenplay written by Horton Foote, Atticus Finch defends Tom Robinson an alleged rapist who was an African American during the Great Depression. Everyone told Atticus what he was doing was wrong, defending a black man during The Great Depression. Tom Robinson was an innocent man in the Great Depression who s only case against him was that he was black and was seen near the scene at the time when Mrs. Mayella was beaten. He was being unfairly tried and represented in the court just because he was an African American during an extremely racist time in the South. Atticus saw it different than everyone else, he was the only one willing to believe Tom Robinson when everyone else was saying he was wrong because he was a black man. Sometimes doing the right thing happens when everyone else is telling you are wrong. Atticus Finch Believed in Tom Robinson when no one else did. Do what is right when everyone is telling you are wrong. When Atticus is defending people, he will do whatever it takes to help that person out even if they can t afford his services. When Mr.Cunningham was needing Atticus s services and couldn t afford them, Atticus came up with a way that would help him. Mr.Cunningham brought hickory nuts to Atticus in order to pay off a legal debt. No one would help Mr.Cunningham, but Atticus saw that he was a good man and was worth fighting for him even though he could not pay Atticus. He was the only one willing to help the poor in a time when almost no one had money. He is paying me for some legal work I did for him... That s the only way he can ... he has no money (Foote page 7).Atticus understood that it was tough times for most people and that the farmers had no money so he came up with a way for Mr. Cunningham to pay for his legal entailments when no else would help Mr.Cunningham. Lois Lane does not want to marry Clark Kent. Therefore, Superman is not identical with Clark Kent. In the eyes of Lois Lane, Superman is the hero she wants to marry while Clark Kent is just a regular guy. Unknowing to her, they are both the same person. Leibniz law shows that superman is known for all his super powers and special abilities and everyone thinks that Clark Kent is just a regular guy so the two could not be one of the same. When Lois lane marries Superman, she also marries Clark Kent which defeats the use of this law. This same law can be applied to the mind body problem being that you cannot doubt having a brain but you can doubt having a body. My body is dubitable, and it is divisible. My mind is indubitable and it is indivisible. With that, one can say that the mind and body are two different beings because they do not share the same properties. III. There is an exponential decrease in temperature as the depth of the water increases. Water has a high specific heat capacity which means that it can resist changes in temperature. This is coupled with the fact that solar radiation progressively loses its penetrative ability as the depth of the water increases. The light attenuation in lakes describes the decrease in actual light that can penetrate a water column as well as the fact that most of the energythat the light has is absorbed by the surface of the water. 2. The end of step 4 during the experiment creates the tripartite thermal structure within the lake substitute. This is composed of three parts called the epilimnion, the thermocline and the hypolimnion. The epilimnion represents the surface of the lake which experiences the most heat during the summer and has the highest temperature compared to the other parts of the thermal structure. The thermocline is the section of water that has the large exponential decrease in temperature. This is shown in figure 1 at the end of the heating phase, the temperature decreases by a large amount as the depth increases from 1cm to 9cm. However, Puritans did not appreciate his art because Iconoclasm was still present: time of rejection and destruction of Icons. Later the age of vision took over where people starting seeing the Christ in their dreams and experiences. During the American Revolution, people did not see the Jesus as white. Instead Native Americans and new set of Protestant missionaries focused on the redness of the Christ s blood and his broken body. In 1735 Moravian arrived in British colonies like Connecticut and Middle Colonies, and introduced a red Christ to native Indians whose blood brought salvation. According to the one of the contemporary historical records, BДЃbor nДЃma, BДЃbor wrote BihzДЃd was good at portraits of beard man. The statement by BДЃbor means people who lived in the same period thought BihzДЃd s strong point was drawing figures. Figure 1 is the portrait of Dervish, which is attributed to BihzДЃd. The brush work is similar to the techniques of Chinese nail head rat tail (й‡ й йј е°ѕin Chinese) (see fig 2). Compared to classical style of Persian painting (see fig 3), the depiction of hairs, mustaches and beard are so fine. The shadowing and the realistic depiction of ears, nose and mouth are also rarely seen in the classical Persian painting. The Chinese derived features of this painting (fig 1) mean, in this period, Persian painters imitated the works of Chinese paintings. And by doing so, they gradually introduced some traces of Chinese painting techniques to Persian painting. The influence of Chinese painting had great impact before the Timurid dynasties, but according Sugimura, Persian painters started to borrowing the physiognomy for the first time in this period. Zoos collect different animals in one environment, but not all animals live in this environment. No place can keep different animals in their environment in small place because nobody can change the weather. We should get rid of zoos for two reasons. Frist, there is no place like home, and a zoo is not home for an animal. There are some animals live in wild, such as elephants and lions. Zoos take animals out of wild into place which is not same as their environment. In the wild, chimpanzees don t venture beyond 5 meters from their mothers until they reach 3 years of age. In captivity, new borns are often torn away from their mothers to be sold or exploited for photo ops. Most animals like elephants suffer from the small space in zoos, so they cannot walk as much as in their homes. We found that gender difference sin the task were of low significance. Gender Differences in Visual Perception: A Spot the Difference Task The use of visual perception processing comes in to play in various concepts of everyday living. We use our visual processing skills to gather information about the environment and integrate that information into what we have already acquired. In concordance to the various learning processes, without the use of visual processing, we would not be able to learn several processes that are used with vision. For instance, reading, writing, driving, good eye hand coordination all require the use of our visual fields to learn how to do these things. Much research has been done on the use of the visual fields in various tasks and studies. In various studies, researchers have looked at lexical problems in the visual field, spot change differences in the visual field and change detection abilities in relation to visual perception. • 35. The War On Alcohol By Lisa Mcgirr In Lisa McGirr s book The War on Alcohol it is hard for the reader to pinpoint one central thesis. One thesis however, can be simply marked down to the title of one of her chapters entitled Selective Enforcement. During the Prohibition period police were cracking down on speakeasies and bootleggers and people smuggling alcohol across state lines. However when policewould make these arrests the people being arrested were mostly of minority origins. Although poor whites from the South did get arrested as well, most of the jails and prisons were made up of blacks, hispanics and latinos. McGirr said that Uneven enforcement was the hidden reason the white, urbane upper middle classcould laugh at the antics of Izzy Einstein and Moe Smith, while Mexicans, poor European immigrants, African Americans, poor whites in the South, and the unlucky experienced the full brunt of Prohibition enforcement s deadly reality (McGirr, 71). This is an important sentence by McGirr because it helps extend her thesis more. What she is saying with this is that because of this selective enforcement that the police did, they would not go and bust a nightclub filled with the upper class and would let the urbane elite (McGirr, 71) get away with drinking and distributing alcohol, even though it was illegal. Instead, the police would go and bust the poor, lower class of minorities that were making and distributing alcohol. In the South, poor African Americans and whites would work together to ... Environmental Pollution To Save The Environment Whether individuals choose to believe in it or not, environmental destruction is a very real and apparent social problem that needs to be addressed before it is too late to save the Earth. Numerous factors such as the climate change, disposal of waste, deforestation, and the quality of air and water impact the destruction of our world. The majority of the blame for our Earth s deterioration falls on the humanrace, however, some of the blame does fall on industries, that for example may improperly dispose of their waste. Because of the actions and behaviors of humans as a whole, the environment is suffering irreversible damage. The small population of people that do advocate for change or engage in environment friendly activities is not enough to help fix the environment alone. Drastic changes need to start being made if the human race wants a chance at saving our environment. This change is urgent because problems are not linear. If you inflict enough damage, you ve shifted the planet into a whole new state and the damage spirals out of control (1).
