they have a card to specify where there suppose to be. If they refuse to go to there
appointment than force is used too make them. Along the tour he mentioned that
the rec therapists sees the inmate five time more in a week than other members of
a treatment team. We were able to visit a facilitation room, which had a class for
inmates to do artwork. One of the CTRS on staff mentioned that it is hard to have
supplies for the art projects. After touring the medical facilities, we walked a long
way to the prison area, dorm area and workspace where the recreation therapist ran
groups. John showed us their offices that over looked the play yard for some

The lab group conducted three separate experiments to test the effect of ultraviolet
radiation on the survival of yeast cells. These experiments are significant because
ultraviolet radiation can damage the DNA of human skin cells and eventually lead
to skin cancer. The yeast cells were prepared and then exposed to UV for various
increments of time. The first experiment was a comparison of a wild type strain
versus an unknown type. The hypothesis was that if the unknown yeast has better
adapted to ultraviolet radiation, more unknown cells would survive. The wild type
strain survived substantially more than the unknown. The second experiment
introduced protections. The group covered the yeast samples with a thick black film
or a sample of distilled water. More cells under the black film outlasted the cells
under the distilled water. The third experiment covered the samples with a thinner,
red film or a general sunscreen with SPF 70. More cells covered by the sunscreen
lived than those under the red film.

While the demise of the EV was largely a function of viable technology there are
several other contextual elements worth noting.
Firstly, the decline of oil prices in 1996 decreased the price of substitutes to the EVs
and increased demand for traditional cars. In addition, the oil lobbyist s blocking of
recharging infrastructure limited important complements for a viable EV market.
Secondly, CARB s production requirements contingent upon demonstrated demand
created a perverse incentive for car manufacturers to suppress demand for their
vehicles if they believed that consumer demand (at a profitable price) would fall
below CARB s mandated levels. The impact was that even if the EV was not viable
at the time, manufacturers were encouraged to stop exploring improvements to make
the EV viable in the future to avoid signaling a future demand to CARB.

This report is a compilation of our conversation with Karen Gordon Sosby, associate
director at the Texas State University Student Health Center made for an interview
report. Ms. Karan has been working at Texas state health center for 23 years. She
started her career with a public health degree in healtheducation and a business
degree in accounting and later moved to administration. Interestingly she has been
working at a single place from the start of her health administration career; she made
a remark on the disadvantage the younger generations most often face by being too
quick in leaving an organization. She said that organizations would like to hire those
who are interested in staying with them for long, also she shared her own situation
of how there are less chances that someone could fill her position with the same kind
of experience and knowledge of needs of the university.
Knowledge and Skills Needed for Effective Leadership Karan opinionated that
knowledge content alone is not enough for health administrators and communication
skills, soft skills and people skills are a necessity. She discussed on how health
administrators are expected to work on many Human resources aspects such as
employee s demands, employee employer conflicts, swift action in meeting their
needs and keeping organization needs intact. She said that the most important of
communication skills is dealing with patients while getting the news across without
hurting their emotion.
