Feminine Mystique
Supplemental Reading for US History 2 From Rosie to Lucy Questions students must answer in
a 500 word (minimum) essay: 1) Describe the post WWII frustrations felt by women such as
Betty Friedan. 2) During the era of Rosie the Riveter , what gains did women make in the
workforce? How did these women feel about themselves and their contributions? What did society
as a whole think? 3) What role did mass media play during the 1950s and 1960s in regard to
supporting or undermining the feminine mystique ? 4) Which television heroine Alice, Lucy, or
Miss Brooks came the closest to TRULY overcoming the feminine mystique, and elaborate on that

Those women needed only to become better adjusted to who and what they were. Friedan,
however, was no ordinary housewife. Before starting her family, she had worked as a newspaper
reporter; even after her children came, she wrote regularly for the major women s magazines.
By 1957 she was fed up with the endless stories about breast feeding, the preparation of gourmet
chip dips, and similar domestic fare that was the staple of Redbook , McCall s , and Ladies
Home Journal . She had noticed many women like herself who worked outside the home and felt
guilty because their jobs threatened their husbands roles as providers or took time away from
their children. Thus Friedan began to wonder not only about herself as a woman, a wife, and a
mother, but also about the role society had shaped women to play. The results of the Smith
questionnaire engaged Friedan s reportorial instincts. She sensed she was onto a story bigger than
anything she had ever written. But when she circulated an article describing the plight so many
women were experiencing, the male editors at the women s magazines turned it down flat. It
couldn t be true, they insisted; women could not possibly feel as guilty or discontented as Friedan
claimed. The problem must be hers. Betty has gone off her rocker, an editor at Redbook told her
agent. She has always done a good job for us, but this time only the most neurotic housewife could

An Anatomical Analysis of the Tennis Serve
Introduction
Tennis serve is the shot that starts off the point. It is normally instigated by pitching the ball into
the air and thumping it into the diagonally opposite service box exclusive of touching the net.
This act is attained underhand or overhead. It is the only attempt where a player takes his time to
position up, instead of reacting to an opponent s shot. In doing this, high percentages of the efforts
are normally exerted at the upper extremity of the body, while the rest at the lower extremity of the
body. the serves comes in five main types of which includes; cannonball or flat serve, topspin slice
serve, slice serve, American twist serve and the topspin serve. The paper will focus on the some of
the types of the serves and the ways in which the upper extremity are involved in the game. With
this, it will look at the movements that occur at each of the upper extremity together with the
muscles that are in use at the joints.
The upper extremities are linked to the shaft by means of the shoulder girdle. These parts of the
body includes; the shoulder girdle together with the shoulder blade and collar bone, the upper arm
together with the humerus, the lower arm with the radius, the hand with carpus and lastly the
metacarpus and fingers. During the implication of the different types of the serve, the extremities
are used in different ways in that, they are involved in different movement and different types of the
muscles in them are also required participating in the

Disadvantages Of Rewable Energy
1.6RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES Energy that comes from resources which are naturally
replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat is
termed as renewable energy. The most common definition is that a natural process at a rate that is
equal to or faster than the rate at which that resource is being consumed by renewable energyis from
an energyresource. Renewable energy is a subset of sustainable energy.
1.61 Main types of renewable energy sources:
Hydro Power:
India is endowed with a large potential of hydro power, of which only 17% has been harnessed so
far. The hydroelectricity is a clean and renewable source of energy. It has been felt that there is a
long gestation period in hydro projects due to delays in forest and environment clearance,
rehabilitation of the project effected people besides inter state disputes and construction holdups
due to several reasons. Under RSE only small hydro projects are considered since they do not
require large pond age and have the capacity to provide power to remote and hilly terrain where
extension of the grid system is either un economic or not possible.
Solar Power: The climatic condition in India provides abundant potential of solar power due to
large scale radiation available during a wider part of the year due to tropical condition in the
country. The solar power can be developed for long term use through the application of solar photo

Schizophrenic Family Study
Schizophrenia can be explained biologically through genetic explanations and through neural
explanations. Genetic explanations establish that schizophrenia is more common in biological
relatives of a person with schizophrenia than a person without. Gotesman (1991) conducted a
family study and found that children with 2 biologically schizophrenic parents had a 46%
concordance rate with the child becoming schizophrenic, a 13% concordance rate if the children
had 1 schizophrenic biological parent and a 9% concordance rate if siblings had schizophrenia. This
shows that individuals more closely related to the person with schizophrenia has a higher risk of
developing schizophrenia therefore showing the influence of genes the disorder. Although a
problem with family studies on schizophrenia are that they lack population validity; small samples
have to be used as larger samples with schizophrenic parents are hard to find and therefore results
can t be extrapolated to the general public. In addition, in Gotesman s study, the concordance rates
for children with 2 schizophrenic parents are below 50%, it suggests that there s no direct genetic
link to the disorder suggesting nurture may hold more influence in development.... Show more

Joseph (2004) calculated pooled data for all schizophrenic twin studies carried out prior to 2001. It
was found that monozygotic twins had a 40.4% concordance rate while dizygotic twins showed
only a 7.4%. The significant difference in concordance rates supports a genetic contribution to the
development of schizophrenia as monozygotic twins are genetically identical. On the other hand, as
monozygotic twins tend to share the same environments, these results may reflect environmental

Ron Wolf of the Green Bay Packershad a feeling about Brett Favre the next year and pursued the

The doctors told Wolf that Brett would last five years tops, because of a hip condition similar to
what took hall a famer Deon Sanders out of the league. Wolf went with his gut feeling and traded
first round draft pick Tony Smith for Favre. Brett came to Green Bay still in the shadows as he
was backing up starting quarterback Don Magic Man Majkowski at the time. In the third game of
the season, Majkowski sustained an injury to a ligament in this foot. Favre trotted onto the
Lambeau Field not knowing that this would be one of his numerous come from behind victories.

Ludwig Van Beethoven Essay
The composer of some of the most influential pieces of music ever
written, Ludwig van Beethoven created a bridge between the 18th century
classical period and the new beginnings of Romanticism. His greatest
breakthroughs in composition came in his instrumental work, including
his symphonies. Unlike his predecessor Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, for whom
writing music seemed to come easily, Beethoven always struggled to
perfect his work.
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany, and was baptized on
Dec. 17, 1770. (There is no record of his birth date.) His father and
grandfather worked as court musicians in Bonn. Ludwig s father, a
singer, gave him his early musical training. Although he had only meager ... Show more content on

Beethoven was convinced that the condition not only was permanent, but
was getting progressively worse. He spent that summer in the country and
wrote what has become known as the quot;Heiligenstadt Testament. quot; In the
document, apparently intended for his two brothers, Beethoven expressed
his humiliation and despair. For the rest of his life he searched for a
cure, but by 1819 his deafness had become total. Afterward, in order to
have conversations with his friends, Beethoven had them write down their
questions and replied orally.
Beethoven never married. Though he had many friends, he seemed to be
a lonely man. He continued to appear in public but spent more and more
of his time working on his compositions. He lived in various villages
near Vienna and took long walks carrying sketchbooks in which he would
write down his musical ideas. Scholars who have studied these
sketchbooks have discovered the agonizingly long process that the
composer went through in order to perfect his melodies, harmonies, and
instrumentations.
Three Periods of Work
Most critics divide Beethoven s work into three general periods,
omitting the earliest years of his apprenticeship in Bonn. Although some
pieces do not fit exactly into the scheme, these divisions can be used
to categorize the composer s work.
The first period, from 1794 to about 1800, consists of music whose

Analytical Essay On Measure For Measure
Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare is a play about two lovers who bear a child out of
wedlock during an era when it was considered illegal. Even though the play centers around the
two characters of Claudio and Juliet, they are hardly ever seen. Measure for Measure is a
comedic play which underscores moral dilemmas in a Christian world. Comedic features such as;
the Duke disguising himself as a common friar in the play, which is how the play starts to develop
inner problems, and unsavory characters are introduced. Practical jokes are used within the play to
lighten the tragedy of Claudio being executed. Angelo is the temporary leader while the Duke is
gone who has decided that Claudio will die for having premarital relations with Juliet. While...

Therefore, we beg to question what is true? What is true in the play is in the thickening of the plot
and the characters itself. The characters in Measure for Measure have chosen to challenge culture,
law, and standing before God in an effort to experience temptation. The state, the family, and the
individual are at odds with each other. Isabella and her group believe in letting people decide
how they want to live, whereas the government under Angelo s new reign; believe in freedoms
that need to be regulated. The law pertains to justice, mercy, and significance of title. Is there a
significance of title for what is legal and illegal for the characters in the play? Is Angelo allowed
to freely have premarital relations and not a commoner like Claudio and Juliet? The hope for
mercy is at question here for what is deemed to be true. The questioning of truth in Measure for
Measure relies on the path that the characters have chosen to challenge politics. Claudio and Juliet
have challenged the law. Angelo is at depths with temptation and the act of redemption on Claudio s
behalf. In Act II Scene 4 Angelo

A lightening rod is a a metal rod that is used to attract lightening. Lightening rods keep dangerous
strikes of lightening from hitting other objects or people. The lightening will hit the lightening rod,
the electricity from the lightening will then travel down the rod, pass through wires and then

When someone has hurt us and we share that issue with our friends, Facebook, Twitter, and even

The Controversy In Church
The community I will be focusing on is my church community. The name of the church is called
Intense Deep Bible Church and it was pastored by Willard Abena. About 5 years ago, there was a
controversy in the church which sparked division in the church and also causing the pastor to be
suspended. At this time, the issue was explained thoroughly to the church congregation and a lot
of people were not happy with the results. Whilst the issue was being explained to the church
congregation, the youths and children were asked to leave the church and at that point in time, I
was considered a youth. So I was not able to figure out what was going on and why I haven t seen
my pastorin church for a very long time, until I became and adult at the age of 18.
When I became an adult, I came to the realization that the pastor was removed due to him making
some personal spiritual mistakes which were never disclosed to the public congregation and was
not tolerable by the church leaders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The church community also needs to be addressed on how the new pastor s family was treated
and why it is wrong, especially in an environment where all the members are supposed to feel
welcome and treated like family, according to the biblical scriptures. The family of the new pastor
and the new pastor needs to be apologized to. If they are not apologized to, they may continue to
distance themselves from the church. Another issue is that when an issue like that of the founding
pastor came to pass, the congregation was not well informed because of the privacy of the pastor.
Because of this lack of information, parts of the church community were upset. If the church
leadership can work on giving the church community a more adequate information, it can reduce
the confusion that results in the division of the

Allusions In Dracula
Hidden in Bram Stoker s Dracula contains abundant amounts of allusions and social commentaries.
These rhetorical devices help connect the reader to the experience of the novel and allow them to
have a more in depth understanding of the characters, and usage of religious allusions abets the
reader in achieving that goal. In the worldwide masterpiece Dracula, Stoker uses religious,
mythical, and archetypical allusions to depict Dracula as a peculiar and distinct creature as well as
providing social commentary for current problems during the late Victorian era.
Dracula is seen as the evil mastermind and the villain in archetypal terms. He also has copious

Many of the symbols in the novel are actually important social commentary during the late
Victorian period. For example, many religious objects Dracula shows weakness to shows the
chasm between the religions of Anglican and Catholic Church, as Crucifixes, communion wafers,
and convents are not, despite the bulk of critical attention reading them thusly, exclusively
Catholic (Bowles 2). Stoker is insinuating a possible mending of relations between the two
religions. Also, the usage of religions items shows that science that the West uses cannot usurp
Dracula; instead, the hero has to look into superstition for the cure. In this sense, science is
portrayed as a dangerous entity and many old, superstitious beliefs are reconsidered.
Simultaneously, Harker is seen as having a sense of condescending and untrustworthy attitude
towards the east and their superstition, as shown a crucifix he has been taught to regard such
things as in some measure idolatrous (Stoker 9). Stoker also seems ignorant of Eastern culture,
as he does not know the meaning of eve of St. George s Day (Stoker 9). Also, from the fact that
Roman Catholic populations within Ireland simply do not function in London , it is
understandable why Harker sees another religion in a negative light. (Bowles 1) In the real world,
Stoker is calling for reconciliation of religion, while in the novel, Stoker shows the reason Dracula
cannot die easily. By forcing to use other cultures and their teachings, Stoker shows how others
could have the answers and depict Dracula as an interesting

The Role Of Parental Sexual Orientation On Children s...
Abstract The rise of same sex couples has brought about discussion on the influence of family
structure on children s development. Findings are presented on a sample of 20 gay father
families, 20 lesbian mother families and 20 heterosexual parent families who have a child of age 4
6 years. Natural observations in a lab environment recorded children s tendency to choose gender
specific, non gender specific or neutral toys. Comparisons in toy choice were made between
children of gay , lesbian and same sex parents. Overall, children from heterosexual families showed
greater gender stereotyping than children from homosexual families and both gender and sexual

While recent research looking into the structure of the family on children s gender development has
found some results indicating no difference between homosexual and heterosexual families (Chan,
Rayboy, Patterson, 1998; Patterson, 1992), most studies have found that homosexual family
structures account for lower gender stereotyped behaviours (Flaks, Ficher, Masterpasqua Joseph,
1995; Goldberg, Kashy, Smith, 2012; Suftin, Fulcher, Bowles Patterson, 2008). With this
discrepancy in the research, further exploration into the gender differences of children from gay ,
lesbian and heterosexual families will help understand the effects of socialization on gender
development and how to better promote the wellbeing and cognitive, social and personal
development of children.
Gender Development Children s gender development begins almost as soon as children can talk
(Serbin, Powlishta, Gulko, 1993). With the early age of gender development, children s toy
choice and play behaviours have been found to be efficient ways of measuring gender
stereotypes. Many studies have found that males and females are more likely to engage in gender
typed behaviours during periods of play (Cherney Dempsey, 2010). Recent research is beginning
to see this as a problem and recognizes gender flexibility as more positive for children s
development. An article

American missionaries in the 19th century. Influenced by Harriet Newell, an evangelist who

Doctor Faustus and the Role that Sin plays in God s Divine Plan.
The nature of sin is brought up many times in the play Doctor Faustus. It seems that Faustus (like
all of us) is damned. The question posed is; can we as humans do anything to save ourselves from
eternal damnation, or are we doomed from birth. The play deals with Faustus struggle to understand
sin and its effect on the human soul. There is a interesting scene where the seven deadly sins appear
before Faustus. To understand the importance of the seven deadly sins in this play, we must first
learn what constitutes a sin. Once we grasp this, we can proceed to understand the role that sin has
on the play. Then we can determine whether or not we as individuals have any impact... Show more

When Jesus was asked what commandment in the law was the greatest. He replied: You shall
love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This
is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as
yourself. The whole law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two
commandments. (Matthew 22:37 40). Since the entire law of God is according to the words of
Jesus, this scripture is merely a commentary on the wonderful principles of love. If this is so, then
sin should be defined in terms of a lack of love, rather than as a formal law. According to this point
of view a sin is any failure to love God and our fellow man with a perfect heart, which then a lack of
love would lead to certain attitudes and deeds which are displeasing to God. Keeping this in mind
we can proceed to see how sins are classified.
There are two categories of sin, mortal sin and venial sin. We commit mortal sins when we break a
commandment of God in a serious manner, for example, idolatry, adultery, murder, slander. These
are all things that are contrary to the love that we owe God. Jesus taught that even looking at a
woman lustfully is a sin. Sin can be both committed on the inside (choices that we make in our
minds) or on the outside (choices that are then carried into action). A man who willfully desires to
have sex, steal, murder
or some other mortal sin, has

The Pact Assignment
I found it difficult to relate with the book, The Pact, for near the first half of the story. The three
boys, Rameck, Sam, and George all grew up in impoverished neighborhoods in New Jersey. They
were surrounded by drugs, violence, theft, prejudice, and death. None of the 3 had a father figure
within their home while growing up and discovered that it was extremely difficult to find any
positive role models within their area. As kids, Sam and Rameck both caved under the peer
pressure and became entangled in immoral activity. Rameck had even let adrenaline take over

In the Epilogue at the end of the book it clearly states, Friends don t have to be alike to be part of a

Tetra Compare And Contrast
Tetra fish are one of the most easily available groups of fish in the hobby. There are many types of
tetra fish, and some are perfect for newcomers to fishkeeping. Other species are much more
challenging, and best avoided unless you ve kept tetras before.
Choosing The Best Tetras
Before you buy any tetra, know this: tetras are schooling fish. This means they prefer to be kept
in a group. Most species of tetras are happiest in groups of six or more of their own kind. Since
you are buying multiple fish, it is even more important to check the size the tetras you want will
grow to. Six six inch bucktoothed tetras will need a lot more room than six 1.2 1.5 inch Neon Tetras.
It is also good to know that most tetras are happiest in somewhat acidic water, although water
requirements vary greatly by species. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neon tetras used to have an excellent reputation for hardiness, but now the vast majority of them
are mass bred in the far east with no attention paid to health or quality. This means that the Neon
Tetras you buy now are often carrying this parasite when you buy them and die quickly. If you
can get disease free Neons, they are great fish, but Neons with this disease aren t worth buying no
matter how low the price. I wouldn t knowingly take Neons with this disease if they were free.
Neon Tetras are notoriously susceptible, but danios, cichlids, and most charachins can be
susceptible to Neon Tetra disease as well.
The most common recognizable symptom of Neon Tetra disease, Pleistophora hyphessobryconis, is
a loss of coloration with pale or white patches of skin, most commonly below the dorsal fish. There
are also other symptoms that include spinal curvature, emaciation, fin deterioration and erratic
swimming. Do not buy any fish that shows these signs!
Just to make life more complicated, there is a False Neon Tetra disease that shows many of the
same symptoms. This is a bacterial infection that can be cured by

Hbr Ashmark Essay example
Q1: What were the key issues with Red Star, Ashmark and their relationship that led to this
situation? Red Star Key Issues: Inferior Company Leadership President Barry Louden failed to
manage the business at a high level, recognize the warning signs, and proactively deploy a strategy
for improvement. He fired his accountant and allowed the company to flounder, displaying no
sense of urgency, taking on increasing amounts of debt, and failing to reach out to Ashmark for
help until it was too late. Lack of Transparency Because RS was a private company and did not
volunteer information about its profitability and health, it was difficult for Ashmark to anticipate
problems. Ashmark Key Issues: Failure to Properly Nurture... Show more content on

Had both of these courses of action been properly discussed and challenged before an ultimate
decision, Ashmark could have saved itself much heartache. Absence of Risk Assessment Early
Detection Measures No mechanisms were in place to adequately gauge the risks of doing
business with RS or detect financial issues even though Ashmark had employees on site at RS.
Had Ashmark assessed and weighed risks properly, it s unlikely that it would have placed all
emphasis on price and put 75% of its spend with a single company. Additionally, the fact that RS s
other customers bailed 6 months prior to the company s bankruptcy announcement (likely to due
price increases resulting from Ashmark s demands for lower prices) should have raised alarm. As
a result of failure to assess risk and late detection, Ashmark s actions in the end were too little too
late. Relationship Issues: Poor Communication Coordination Overall, it s fair to characterize the
relationship between Ashmark and RS as dysfunctional interdependence. The companies failed to
develop the close communication and coordination necessary to ensure two way success. Ashmark
was careless in its relationship management of what should have been a mutually beneficial
strategic partnership with RS, and RS chose not to express the adverse impact of Ashmark s
decisions or the severity of its issues so

Intracranial Pressure (Icp
Intracranial Pressure (ICP): Overview: вќ‘ Intracranial pressure (ICP) is the hydrostatic force
measured in the brain cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) compartment. Intracranial Pressure (ICP) is the
combination of the pressure exerted by the brain tissue, blood, and cerebral spinal fluid (CSF). The
modified Monro kellie doctrine states that these three components must remain at a relatively
constant volume within the closed skull structure. вќ‘ If the volume of any one of the three
components increases within the cranial vault and the volume from another component is
displaced, the total intracranial volume, and therefore, pressure, will not change. Factors that
influence ICP under normal circumstances are changes in arterial... Show more content on

The upper limit of systemic arterial pressure at which autoregulation is effective is an MAP of 150
mmhg; once higher than this pressure the vessels are maximally constricted and further
vasoconstricto response is lost. вќ‘ The cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) is the pressure needed to
ensure blood flow to the brain[ CPP = MAP minus ICP] or [CPP = Flow x Resistance]. As the
CPP decreases, auto regulation fails and CBF decreases, which can lead to ischemia and neuronal
death. Compliance is the expandability of the brain. With low compliance, small changes in
volume result in greater increases in pressure. When cerebral vascular resistance is high, blood
flow to brain tissue is impaired. Transcranial Doppler is a noninvasive technique used in ICUs to
monitor changes in cerebrovascular resistance. вќ‘ To maintain cerebral blood flow (CBF), it is
necessary to keep cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) in the range of 60 100 mm Hg. When auto
regulation is impair red, the CBF fluctuates with changes in the systemic blood pressure. This
may be seen in the patient that is suctioned or who coughs, which causes a rise in blood pressure,
resulting in elevated ICP. MAP that is greater than 60 mmHg is enough to sustain the organs of
the average person. MAP is normally between 70 to 110 mmHg. If the falls below this number for
an appreciable time, vital organs will not get enough Oxygen perfusion, and will become ischemic.
A CPP less than 50 mmhg is

How Do Companies Best Create Lasting Connections with their Customers?
Initial answers could include the following: through highly creative advertising messages; through
innovative, value based pricing structures; through a constant array of compelling product
upgrades; or through spending more money than your competitors do on multiple distribution
channels.
Wrong.
I am convinced that true, meaningful connectivity with customers and key stakeholders occurs in
one way: through authenticity at every level of the customer experience. And without this, a
company or a brand is incapable of achieving ultimate success.
So what is it exactly that creates devoted brand fans?

This allows them to think and act on that critical emotional level, and it challenges them to get to
the core of who they really are.
That core is what today s customers are really after, as they make decisions regarding who to hire
or buy from.
In recent years, consumer oriented marketing has dramatically changed. Years ago, companies used
a mix of print, radio and television to establish their brand.
Today, this model is proving difficult for most companies, due to the high cost, the dilution of
media, and the overabundance of commercial messages.
These days, many successful brands are created without an advertising budget, or with a relatively
modest one. They create a solid and believable identity, differentiate themselves from their
competitors and build a loyal customer base by putting an authentic face on their companies
through standing behind their promises on every level from the point of sale to customer service
after the sale.
Customers respond positively to the notion that a real, answerable person is responsible for quality,
which is the reason that many successful companies put their CEO s front and center and avoid the
celebrity spokesperson trap.
Customers want to know who is really behind the brand and where the buck actually stops.
The combination of quality, caring, accountability and the human touch is what constitutes an
authentic brand.
Know what you stand for and proudly demonstrate that every day in every way to

Elaboration Likelihood Model By Richard E. Petty And John T
Elaboration Likelihood Model This model, developed by Richard E. Petty and John T. Cacioppo,
favors a process based approach. This allows for a given variable having different persuasive
effects at different points in the interaction process [7]. Petty and Cacioppo break the persuasive
process down into three steps: motivation to process information, ability to process information, and
cognitive processing. To proceed through these steps, people take either the central route, which has
more long lasting effects, or the peripheral route [6]. The central route relies on high intrinsic
motivation and ability while the peripheral route relies on implicit cues and associations.
Elaboration refers to considering the presented information... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One example of this is what researchers Kar Yan Tam and Shuk Ying Ho term as a sorting cue, a
peripheral way to guide users attention and decision making process [7]. For instance, developers
could emphasize punctual check ins with sorting cues. One possible way to do this would be
highlighting the check in tab and the specific button for that check in in a clear but non obtrusive
way. By making the button catch users attention, it might remind them to check in if they have
forgotten. Another possibility is, by taking advantage of the mobile platform, configuring
notifications around the check in time for when the user does not have the application open. The
Functional Triad Along with coining the concept of captology, the study of persuasive technology
development, B.J. Fogg developed the functional triad framework. The purpose of this framework
is to sort the persuasive elements of a given technology into three categories of how humans can
view computers toward the end of better understanding the technology s persuasive power [2].
These three categories are computers as tools, computers as media, and computers as social actors.
Since it is the least relevant to SlipBuddy, we will briefly address computers as media first. This
category focuses primarily on simulations. By helping users practice a behavior, they can
experience change in reality [2]. There are three subcategories: cause and effect, environment, and

Abraham And The Early Journey Of The Formation Of Israel
Introduction
This world was created for a purpose. That purpose was to shine and reflect the majesty of the
creator. Faith is having a confident attitude toward God, involving commitment to His will for
one s life and that His plans are for our best and flow from His love for us. As we read through the
Old and New Testament of the biblewe see how the men of God are described living by their faith.
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NKJV) ... 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of
these is love.
Body
Though we could look at many of the Bible accounts from Adam to Noah, Noah to Abraham,
Abraham to David or David to Jesus, we will primarily focus on Abraham and the early journey
of the formation of Israel. The same principles can be found in all of these periods. God s
promise to Abraham was he would become the father of many nations. Abraham s obedience to
God allow him to experience the Love of God by trusting God at his word. When God asked
Abraham to take Isaac his son, Genesis 22:2 (NKJV) Then he said, Take now your son your only
son Isaac, whom you love and go to the land Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on
one of the mountains of which I will tell you. . Abraham obeyed God and while on the journey
Isaac asked Abraham, where the Lamb was for the sacrifice Abraham answered God will provide
and this is where you see Abraham s faith in God. Works of obedience evidence this faith, which
God actually identifies as righteousness. We see

Soviet Union Afghanistan War
Soviet Union
Already in a middle of a war, Afghanistan was in trouble times. On December 24,1979 the soviet of
russia surprisingly attacked Afghanistan and their citizens. Prior to the attack, the Soviet Union had
a long history of supporting and providing aid to Afghanistan, which is surprising since they helped
Afghanistan. The Soviet Union invasion had a huge impact on Afghanistan and mostly their
citizens. So they were very confused and scared.
Even before the war started with the Soviet union, Afghanistan was already in conflict with a
different war called the Civil war. So now Afghanistan has two wars going on now, and it must be
very difficult for them. On april 27, 1978 a Soviet supported communist government (DRA) and
took over the country. The Afghanistan citizens did not like the new government and they began to

Inductive approach is focused on the testing theory. When this theory developed from the analysis
of collected data which depend on building theory (Saunders etal., 2003). So, the chosen method is
the deductive approach. First of all, we started to read the different literature to find the theories of

Black Fate- Analysis of Aeschylus The Persians
Aeschylus play, The Persians, took place at the Persian Royal Palace in Susa. It depicted the
emotional response of the Persian Elders, the Queen Mother Atossa, a herald, King Xerxes, and the
ghost of Darius upon hearing the news of the Persian defeat at the Battle of Salamis against the
Greeks. The play began with a conversation amongst the Persianselders about their war with the
Greeks. They possessed grave trepidations because of a lack of news from the front. This fear
stemmed from the great risk King Xerxes took by calling all the heroes and soldiers of the Persian
Empire to fight in Greece. At first, they were confident of their victory, describing their forces as an
unconquerable ocean of men . However, their fear persisted of their forces decimation. Later on, the
Queen Mother, Atossaappeared before the Elders with an ominous vision. She acquired about the
land and personality of the Greeks while the Elders reassured her of their army s success. When
Atossa was about to leave to make sacrifices to the gods, a herald entered the palace with horrific
news. The Persian forces was decimated by the smaller Greek forces at the Salamis, almost all
of their heroes were dead, but Xerxes was still alive. Upon hearing the description of the battle s
carnage, the Elders and the Queen Mother broke out into agony and mourned the loss of their men
at Salamis. The group professes how the Persians were cursed with Black Fate , and the gods

Somatic Marker Hypothesis
Part 1: research justification
Traditionally, decision making has been seen as a purely rational process involving a logical
analysis of the response options and their believed outcomes. However, the somatic marker
hypothesis (SMH) proposes that in situations where outcomes are uncertain, our decisions are
guided by emotion rather than reason. According to this hypothesis, physiological feedback from
the body informs our emotional experience, which in turn guides our decision making. Somatic
Markers are formed when the consequence of a particular response option evokes a set of
physiological responses (e.g. increased heart rate). These physiological responses become
associated with the response option and thus mark that option with emotional value. The next time
this response option is encountered, the associated physiological state is reactivated and will bias ...

Static IP address is an IP address that is permanent to a specific host for a certain amount of time.
This IP address is assigned by the ISP out of a specific designated block of IP addresses and
manually entered into the computer. While primarily IP addresses are sent to the host by the
DHCP now, certain people prefer static IP.
Static IP is also used for the URL or uniform resource locator to give a website a permanent
residence on the internet. This keeps the website from bouncing around from leased IP s that a
DHCP would give. This type of network would also be good for VPN s and remote access. To
quote Lifewire: (Fisher, 2017) Because a static IP address never changes, other devices always

While using small statistic numbers, trying to persuade the President of Iraq how they stand alone,
Bush states how many people are on the United States side. These include; Security Council
Resolutions, the countries providing militaries, and all the governments that are in agreement
with them, concluding that it is Iraq at odds with the world. This having evidence, is a scare
tactic as it shows Hussein that they are mostly unaided and also, a show of adverse
consequences pushing Iraq to believe that they would undoubtedly lose the fight. Even though
the message comes across to some extent threatening to the people of Iraq, Bush appeases the
feeling by stating that his intention was only to inform them seeing as how the United States has
no quarrel with Iraq. In conclusion, President George Bush s letter shows how united the world
is against Iraq s aggression. Twenty eight countries would give military aid and one hundred
governments would agree with the United States position. Iraq has no allies in their takeover of
Kuwait. Bush s threats of military action challenge Saddam Hussein s arrogance and sense of
infallibility. Warnings of the destruction of Iraq s military and loss of life would be on the hands
of Hussein himself. The United States would not be responsible for Iraq s losses. Again, the
primary audience for this letter is Hussein himself, because in a dictatorship such as Iraq, the people
themselves are deprived of such information. Brute

Bitumen Love In Boy At The Window By Richard Wilbur
Bitumen Love Nothing is forever. Leaves fall off tress and fade away, making the presence of a
once beautiful and healthy tree, a cold and dead caucus. Just like trees, a childhood of an innocent,
sweet little boy vanishes over time, morphing the child into a depressed human with no joy; no
happiness; no life. Boy at the Window, by Richard Wilbur, portrays a sense of hope, warmth, and
compassion. Through this piece of literature, Wilbur explicitly presents a young boy s emotions
towards a snowmanthrough pint of view, personification, connotation, and irony. There are some
children who have large imaginations, while others only exceed to the edge if what they know.
The boy in this poem leads the reader to believe that his imagination expands further than anyone

first stanza in Boy at the Window only the boy s point of view is shown. Through Wilbur s diction,
the child is expressed with melancholy emotions. The little boy wants the snowmanto come inside

heart only longs for the snowman s presence inside and feels pain. Some pieces of literature focus

temperatures are likely to have extreme effects on global climate and may result in species
extinction, changes in agricultural production and deleterious effects on health. Studies have been
conducted in recent years on the effects of increase of greenhouse gases on the thermohaline
circulation. There are several hypotheses that state that the prolonged effect of global warming
could eventually shut down the thermohaline circulation and lead to cooling in certain regions in ...

3. Global Warming
[5] The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), in February 2007, submitted a 21
page report assessing the effect of global warming on global climate. The report stated that: most of
the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid 20th century is very likely
due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations . Emission of infrared
radiation warms the Earth surface; the phenomenon is known as the Greenhouse Effect. The
dominant infrared absorbing gases in the Earth s atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide (CO2)
and ozone (O3). The interactions between greenhouse gas molecules and radiation can be explained
by quantum mechanics. CO2 and O3 molecules have vibration motions whose quantum states can
be excited by collisions at energies encountered in the atmosphere. Industrial activities, such as
fossil fuel burning and other human activities such as cement production and tropical deforestation
has increased the carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere. CO2 is also a byproduct from

An estimated four million Jews lived in the Roman Empire, but only an estimated 700,000 lived in
Palestine. A larger population of Jews lived in Alexandria and Syria. Gentiles outnumbered Jews in
Decapolis and Galilee (Intertestamental Period New Testament Background, 2001). Languages
spoken in Palestine were Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew and it is likely that Jesus and His disciples

The Relevance of Fair Use Doctrine in the Digital World
Abstract. Different proposals have been made to restrict the fair use exception in a digital context.
Digitization provides tools to detect private digital copying of a protected work and to limit it.
This may allow title holders to prevent practices that have been important for educational and
scholarly purposes. Given the power conferred by the technology, fair use exceptions established
by the law may become inapplicable and substantially affect access to information, particularly in
developing countries. The protection of databases, as established or proposed in some jurisdictions,
may aggravate this problem. The development of new principles for the application in this context
of fair use needs to be considered, including... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For that reason, the fair use doctrine consistently creates difficult issues for you and your clients. It
is ironic, then, that fair use is the copyright issue most likely to confront an average copyright user.
Fair use issues arise in a wide variety of everyday contexts, including the classroom, the boardroom,
the record industry, the theater, and the movie industry. Typical fair use conflicts likely to arise in
practice include: copying for educational purposes both in the classroom and the boardroom ;
quoting from copyrighted sources in reporting, reviews, and scholarly research ; uploading or
downloading copyrighted material to or from a website; sampling copyrighted material in sound
recordings or including copyrighted material as scenery in a motion picture or theater set; and use
of copyrighted material in a parody. 3.Basis of the fair use doctrine The fair use doctrine creates a
limited privilege in those other than the owner of a copyright to use the copyrighted material in a
reasonable manner without the owner s consent. It permits unauthorized uses that otherwise would
constitute infringement but are deemed noninfringing because they advance the underlying
constitutional purpose of copyright law: to promote broad public availability of literature, music,
and other forms of creative arts. The constitutional principle

Mental Deterioration In Hamlet
Madness does not have an exact cause but, rather it is the combination of psychological and
environmental factors that can cause mental deterioration. Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of
Hamlet, Prince of Denmark has the reoccurring theme of madness demonstrated through the
protagonist s downward spiral into insanity. Therefore, Shakespeare s tragic hero, Hamlet,
throughout the course of his journey, undergoing traumatic events, communications with the
supernatural and his inability to decipher right from wrong, ultimately prove his mental state to
have been affected, making him mad.
Repeated exposure to tragic events can trigger traumatic stress being a detrimental factor to an
individual s mental state. In The Tragedy of Hamlet, the protagonist, ... Show more content on

Hamlet s insanity peaks when he loses his principles of respecting human life. Hamlet shows no
remorse, Thou wretched, rash, intruding fool, farewell. /I took thee for thy better. Take thy
fortune. / Thou find st to be too busy is some danger (III.iv.185). He realizes he mistakenly killed
the wrong man, yet Hamlet shows no sign of regret for killing Polonius. Hamlet s lack of empathy
corroborates to the idea that his madness causes him to lose his humanity. In the beginning of the
play, Hamlet proves to be meticulous when it comes to attain revenge, however, Hamlet s madness
escalated to the point where Polonius is carelessly killed. Hamlet having experienced parental loss
and knowing the suffering it brings, in a right state of mind, no sane person would wish that
suffering onto another person. Author Barbara, notes, The loss of her [Ophelia s] father her link
to emotional security once she can no longer trust in her own perceptions is the final, fatal assault
on her tenuous mental stability and survival instinct (Smith 98).. Hamlet is insanely consumed
with revenge that he has become murderous and insensitive for not thinking about the sorrow
and grief it will give Laertes and Ophelia. Hamlet s actions are altered by his madness making
him unaware that he is the indirect cause of Ophelia s madness. When Hamlet s kills Polonius he
becomes conscienceless, nonetheless, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern s killings show the cynical
side of Hamlet s madness. He tells Horatio about, [Rosencrantz s and Guildenstern s] defeat/ Does
by their own insinuation grow. / Tis dangerous when the baser nature comes / Between the pass
and fell incensed points (V. ii. 62 65). Hamlet s inability to decipher right from wrong proves his
level of insanity. He blames his friends of treason, justifying their

The Westing Game By Ellen Raskin
In the book, The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, the conclusion is what summarized the plot of
the book. Knowing this, one might agree the way the ending was written was very effective.
The owner of the Westing Paper Products Company, Sam Westing, was murdered. Sixteen
people are called to Sunset Towers to participate in the reading of the will. Little did they know
that the will was only going to unleash the monster in them all. The will of Sam Westing went on
to say that one of the sixteen people in the room was a murderer, the same murderer that ended
his life. Everyone would be paired into teams. Clues were spread out among the pairs of two and
the game began. 200 million dollars was offered to the person who uncovered the secrets to... Show

Sam Westing, all along, had been pretending to be other people. They were Sam Westing, Barney
Northrup, Sandy McSouthers, and Julian R. Eastman. His costumes included the four directions.
This leads into the resolution by cluing the reader into future events. By the time Turtle figures this
out she finds Sam Westing. He is still alive. This creates a huge plot twist. Throughout the whole
book, Sam was thought to be dead. Turtle had won the game. This fact satisfies many reader s
thoughts about the book. There was a winner to the Westing Game. The will was fulfilled and
through the fact that it was, the resolution and ending of the book was effective. In addition to
how the will was fulfilled, another reason that was brought into the book was about the fact
Turtle s life had been changed for the better. Throughout the book, she is ignored by her mother.
Her mother favored Turtle s older sister, Angela. Because T.R. won the game, she received the

Midsummer Night s Dream And Much Ado About Nothing
Battle of the Sexes in MSND and Much Ado about Nothing In Shakespeare s comedies, A
Midsummer Night s Dream and Much Ado about Nothing, a battle of the sexes is displayed in
profound ways. Particularly in war between the female and male characters. Shakespeare plays
with the idea of a battle between the genders throughout the two plays and even adds in whimsical
fairies and potions to shake up the plot. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, Shakespeare showcases a
battle between Theseus and Hippolyta. Hippolyta is not the meek and mild woman that many of
her time would be. Instead, she is an Amazon woman who is fierce and strong. Shakespeare created
Hippolyta to not conform to the gender roles of the time. At this time physical strength was

Due to not being able to choose her husband Hermia must run away to marry the man she loves. In
this time, women were thought of as weaker than men and unable to make appropriate decisions
for themselves.. This was thought to be due to the fact that women could not keep the four
humours and elements in balance, partly because of menstruation. (McDonald pg. 254) Aristotle
even made the assumption that the female of all animals in less fierce and takes care of the young
more than the male. He used that example as a way to justify women being forced to stay home
and perform the bulk of the childcare. The next battle is between Helena, Demetrius, and Lysander.
Neither Demetrius nor Lysander love Helena so she wishes she were as fair as Hermia so that
Demetrius might love her. Helena is desperate for Demetrius love and says, Use me but as your

Persuasive Essay On Hunter Safety
Hunting and racing are a lot alike. Holding that steering wheel and holding that rifle both mean you
better be responsible. Dale Earnhardt. Earnhardt s quote is saying like racing, hunting requires
safety. Before the hunt can ever happen there are safety precautions that must be learned. Hunting
safety is essential to protect not only the hunter but also the community. People fall victim to
huntingaccidents every year due to not practicing proper firearmor hunting blind safety.
Hunter safety courses have been adopted by all states as a way of teaching novice and veteran
hunters how to be responsible and safe sportsman. Hunter safety class are required in all states to
hunt. Some states do not require this class if you are born before a certain date. Other states only
require the class only has to be taken if you are between a certain age (Hunter Ed.com unit 1). One
of the many topic learned in hunter safety courses is the use the weapon.
A firearm is one of the weapons that may be used when hunting. A firearm utilizes pressure
produced from the burning of gunpowder to create gas. The pressure produced from the burning
powder propels a projectile out of the barrel at a target. In rifles and most handguns the barrel has
rifling on the inside of the barrel to make the projectile spin to travel better in the air. Rifling are
groove that spin as they go through the inside of the barrel. Shotgun barrels are smooth and can

Research Paper On Eveline
Death Lingers In Her Eyes James Joyce s Eveline establishes a diverse, variety of notions, one of
which persists that music plays a significant role pertaining to Eveline s happiness, he also depicts
her struggle to feel alive inside, and her internal battle between duty and love.
Music has been a singular joy in Eveline s life. When Eveline s dear mother lie on her deathbed
she seemed to only become worse after the organ player had been ordered to go away and given
sixpence, by her father. (Joyce) The music tinkling up from the street helped distract her family
from the somber event holding the house captive. Once the music had been chased out, death
persisted leaving nothing behind besides the dregs of life. She and her sweetheart, Frank, ... Show

She hankers for a happy life with Frank where her father cannot find her, where she will be
respected and loved, in a place where she can escape her depression filled existence in Dublin.
Every day at home, she had hard work to keep the house together and to see that the two young
children who had been left to her charge went to school regularly and got their meals regularly.
(Joyce) This task of raising the children comes riddled with responsibility and subsists as
something she knows would not be tended to rightly if she were to leave them alone with her
father. Not to mention, her father was becoming old lately. (Joyce) Eveline remains accustomed
to this mediocre life that it suggests she does not desire to leave by virtue of her fear to start
over in Buenos Ayres. As a result, she rationalizes her drunken father s behavior by remembering
past attributes: sometimes he could be very nice. (Joyce) She often reflects on her promise to her
mother, her promise to keep the home together as long as she could. (Joyce) She would feel
guilty to leave and live for herself and select herself for once in her life! Eveline shows no mercy
towards her own person, she could convince herself to stay without any outside input, just by reason
of her self induced obligation to be the glue holding her family together while the pressure tears at
her sanity. She even imagines her mother saying, Derevaun Seraun! Derevaun Seraun! meaning in
Irish Gaelic, at the dissolution of pleasure, there remains pain.

U7A1 Supreme Court Cases
U7A1 Supreme Court Cases Supreme Court Case #1: Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School
District (1969) Background: 1965 three students from Des Moines, Iowa (15 year old John
Tinker; his sister, 13 year Mary Beth Tinker; and a friend, 16 year old Christopher Eckhardt),
opposing the Vietnam War came up with a plan to wear black arm bands to their respective
schools. The arm bands were to serve the purposes of symbolizing a protest against the Vietnam
War. School officials got wind of the children s protest plans and created a policy that if student
showed up at school wearing black bands would be suspended and unable to return to school until
they agreed to follow the no black arm band policy. All three children still chose to wear the black
arm bands to school and all three were suspended from school. Issue(s): First Amendment (Freedom
of Speech), Fourteenth Amendment (Due Process) Court Decision(s): The Court ruled in favor of
the students. In accordance with the First Amendment, their actions were constitutional. It was not
disruptive, nor did it invade other s rights. However, this did not give unlimited freedom of speech
to the students. As long as they continued the peaceful protesting without causing distractions, they
could continue. Chief Justice: WARREN Legal Impact of the Decision: The new no black arm
bands policy at the schools did not prohibit all political symbols, but rather just singled out the

The Waubano Disaster
Many ships plied the Great Lakes treacherous waters through the 19th century and without
surprise there were many sinkings and many lives lost. Parry Sound got its first full dose in
November 1879 when the Waubano mysteriously sank. It was a side wheeled ship often carrying
goods and people between the Sound and Collingwood. Auspiciously a bride had a dream days
before portending the disaster. The weather had been bad, typical for so late in the season, but the
last sighting had it doing well. When it sank, all 24 passengers and crew went down with her
including the bride and her groom.

The Sexual Orientation Of Parents Essay
Article 1: Stacey, J., Biblarz, T. J. (2001). (How) does the sexual orientation of parents matter?
American Sociological Review, 66(2), 159 183.
The goal of this study was to dispute the negative heterosexism perceptions attached to the
development of children with parents who identify as gay and lesbian. The authors focused on the
analysis of previous research findings, comparing the outcomes of the children from heterosexual
single mothers and homosexual parents, particularly lesbian mothers. These studies explored the
relationship between homophobia, the sexual orientation of the parents and the outcome of the
child; in addition to the influence on sexual preferences and well being of the children.
A critical finding from this study, was the belief that the discrimination surrounding homophobia is
the core reason as to why the concern behind sexual orientation of parents exists at all. This article
found a stronger correlation between the children, specifically daughters raised by lesbian mothers,
and the absence of typical gender identities associated with their behaviour, chosen activities and
aspirations for the future. These results suggest children of lesbian parenting are not forced to
restrict themselves to certain gender associated roles. When examining the sexual preferences and
behaviour of the children from both households, they found the children of lesbian mothers were
more open to considering a same sex relationship in their future. Although

similarities and differences. These aspects are planning, materials, design, and schedules. There are
many more aspects that can be used as well as what the aspects have.

In building architecture the design is hard to change once it is set up. It is also more time
consuming to change and more costly. The last aspect is the scheduling aspect. In software
architecture one can schedule a project to be done in as little as one month depending on the
project. Within the building architecture the scheduling is more time consuming and could take up
more time depending if the stakeholder is approved for certain aspects of the building. In the
building architecture one needs to take into consideration the scheduling when it comes to the
inspectors. There are times when they are able to go and let the stakeholders know what passed
and what did not. In software architecture the program will flag where the program is, making it
easier for the programmer to go back and check on the spot when running the program. In the
diagram below one can see the aspects as well as the differences in both software and building
architecture.

What Is The Theme Of The Blue Bowl By Jane Glaser
Death whirls around us, handpicking our inevitable fate. Some seek it; some ignorantly fall upon
it.No writer conveys an equal perspective on death. Both Elton Glaser and Jane Kenyon use
similes, onomatopoeia and imagery to illustrate their opinions. In Smoking , Glaser pinpoints the
widely eclectic range of sentiments that derives from an artificial form of death. However in The
Blue Bowl Kenyon focuses more on the subject of closure and reacting to death.
Elton Glaser uses similes to warn us of the long term consequences of smoking, whereas Jane
Kenyon uses them to express her opinion on closure. In the middle of the poem, Glaser uses
similes to describe the burning fire at the tip of the cigarette and how it s Turning red as a warning

Glaser calls attention to the speaker s fascination of the flame of his lighter through the
descriptions of it s Boldface of fire and the rage and sway of it . This fascination is also brought
up when describing the blaze in detail raw blue at the base, and a slope of gold, a touch to the
packed tobacco . In contrast, he also uses negative imagery to detail the process of how smoking
destroys the body. He introduces a destructive mood to the poem when referring to the way that
smoke gets To the black crust of lungs , the Veins tight and the heart slow both due to the lack of
blood flow. Glaser, therefore, introduces the theme of decay and death, as the poem progresses.
Kenyon uses imagery at the very beginning of the poem to give color to the cat by mentioning
his long red fur , the white feathers between his toes and his long, not to say aquiline, nose , a
trait that defines his visage. She also uses it to illustrate the fragile and gloomy mood at the
beginning of the poem. Specifying Barehanded, we scraped sand and gravel back into the whole ,
Kenyon highlights the vulnerability of the scene. The fact that they were Silent, the rest of the day

How did these women feel about themselves and their contributions? What did society as a whole think? 3) What role did mass media play during the 1950s and 1960s in regard to supporting or undermining the feminine mystique ? 4) Which television heroine Alice, Lucy, or Miss Brooks came the closest to TRULY overcoming the feminine mystique, and elaborate on that heroine s situation and relationship to the men in her life. It was 1957. Betty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those women needed only to become better adjusted to who and what they were. Friedan, however, was no ordinary housewife. Before starting her family, she had worked as a newspaper reporter; even after her children came, she wrote regularly for the major women s magazines. By 1957 she was fed up with the endless stories about breast feeding, the preparation of gourmet chip dips, and similar domestic fare that was the staple of Redbook , McCall s , and Ladies Home Journal . She had noticed many women like herself who worked outside the home and felt guilty because their jobs threatened their husbands roles as providers or took time away from their children. Thus Friedan began to wonder not only about herself as a woman, a wife, and a mother, but also about the role society had shaped women to play. The results of the Smith questionnaire engaged Friedan s reportorial instincts. She sensed she was onto a story bigger than anything she had ever written. But when she circulated an article describing the plight so many women were experiencing, the male editors at the women s magazines turned it down flat. It couldn t be true, they insisted; women could not possibly feel as guilty or discontented as Friedan claimed. The problem must be hers. Betty has gone off her rocker, an editor at Redbook told her agent. She has always done a good job for us, but this time only the most neurotic housewife could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is normally instigated by pitching the ball into the air and thumping it into the diagonally opposite service box exclusive of touching the net. This act is attained underhand or overhead. It is the only attempt where a player takes his time to position up, instead of reacting to an opponent s shot. Disadvantages Of Rewable Energy 1.6RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES Energy that comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat is termed as renewable energy. The most common definition is that a natural process at a rate that is equal to or faster than the rate at which that resource is being consumed by renewable energyis from an energyresource. Renewable energy is a subset of sustainable energy. 1.61 Main types of renewable energy sources: Hydro Power: India is endowed with a large potential of hydro power, of which only 17% has been harnessed so far. The hydroelectricity is a clean and renewable source of energy. It has been felt that there is a long gestation period in hydro projects due to delays in forest and environment clearance, rehabilitation of the project effected people besides inter state disputes and construction holdups due to several reasons. Under RSE only small hydro projects are considered since they do not require large pond age and have the capacity to provide power to remote and hilly terrain where extension of the grid system is either un economic or not possible. Solar Power: The climatic condition in India provides abundant potential of solar power due to large scale radiation available during a wider part of the year due to tropical condition in the country. The solar power can be developed for long term use through the application of solar photo voltaic (SPV) Technology which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Schizophrenic Family Study Schizophrenia can be explained biologically through genetic explanations and through neural explanations. Genetic explanations establish that schizophrenia is more common in biological relatives of a person with schizophrenia than a person without. Gotesman (1991) conducted a family study and found that children with 2 biologically schizophrenic parents had a 46% concordance rate with the child becoming schizophrenic, a 13% concordance rate if the children had 1 schizophrenic biological parent and a 9% concordance rate if siblings had schizophrenia. This shows that individuals more closely related to the person with schizophrenia has a higher risk of developing schizophrenia therefore showing the influence of genes the disorder. Although a problem with family studies on schizophrenia are that they lack population validity; small samples have to be used as larger samples with schizophrenic parents are hard to find and therefore results can t be extrapolated to the general public. In addition, in Gotesman s study, the concordance rates for children with 2 schizophrenic parents are below 50%, it suggests that there s no direct genetic link to the disorder suggesting nurture may hold more influence in development.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joseph (2004) calculated pooled data for all schizophrenic twin studies carried out prior to 2001. It was found that monozygotic twins had a 40.4% concordance rate while dizygotic twins showed only a 7.4%. The significant difference in concordance rates supports a genetic contribution to the development of schizophrenia as monozygotic twins are genetically identical. • 7. Ludwig Van Beethoven Essay The composer of some of the most influential pieces of music ever written, Ludwig van Beethoven created a bridge between the 18th century classical period and the new beginnings of Romanticism. His greatest breakthroughs in composition came in his instrumental work, including his symphonies. Unlike his predecessor Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, for whom writing music seemed to come easily, Beethoven always struggled to perfect his work. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany, and was baptized on Dec. 17, 1770. (There is no record of his birth date.) His father and grandfather worked as court musicians in Bonn. He spent that summer in the country and wrote what has become known as the quot;Heiligenstadt Testament. quot; In the document, apparently intended for his two brothers, Beethoven expressed his humiliation and despair. For the rest of his life he searched for a cure, but by 1819 his deafness had become total. He lived in various villages near Vienna and took long walks carrying sketchbooks in which he would write down his musical ideas. Scholars who have studied these sketchbooks have discovered the agonizingly long process that the composer went through in order to perfect his melodies, harmonies, and instrumentations. Three Periods of Work Most critics divide Beethoven s work into three general periods, omitting the earliest years of his apprenticeship in Bonn. Although some pieces do not fit exactly into the scheme, these divisions can be used to categorize the composer s work. The first period, from 1794 to about 1800, consists of music whose most salient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though the play centers around the two characters of Claudio and Juliet, they are hardly ever seen. Measure for Measure is a comedic play which underscores moral dilemmas in a Christian world. Comedic features such as; the Duke disguising himself as a common friar in the play, which is how the play starts to develop inner problems, and unsavory characters are introduced. Practical jokes are used within the play to lighten the tragedy of Claudio being executed. Therefore, we beg to question what is true? What is true in the play is in the thickening of the plot and the characters itself. The characters in Measure for Measure have chosen to challenge culture, law, and standing before God in an effort to experience temptation. The state, the family, and the individual are at odds with each other. Isabella and her group believe in letting people decide how they want to live, whereas the government under Angelo s new reign; believe in freedoms that need to be regulated. The law pertains to justice, mercy, and significance of title. Is there a significance of title for what is legal and illegal for the characters in the play? Is Angelo allowed to freely have premarital relations and not a commoner like Claudio and Juliet? The hope for mercy is at question here for what is deemed to be true. The questioning of truth in Measure for Measure relies on the path that the characters have chosen to challenge politics. Claudio and Juliet have challenged the law. The lightening will hit the lightening rod, the electricity from the lightening will then travel down the rod, pass through wires and then disburse into the ground. The purpose of this system is to prevent damage and even death during lightening strikes. As Christians, Why Do We Need A Lightening Rod? Life can be hard. People can hurt us. Deeply. We are leaking emotionally all over the place. People can tell on our faces and demeanor that something is wrong. When someone has hurt us and we share that issue with our friends, Facebook, Twitter, and even our women s ministry group that is called gossiping. What if it is in the form of a prayer request? What if I go up to a friend and say I need you to pray for my boss. . Of course, that opens the floor for more details to be asked of me. At this time, the issue was explained thoroughly to the church congregation and a lot of people were not happy with the results. Whilst the issue was being explained to the church congregation, the youths and children were asked to leave the church and at that point in time, I was considered a youth. So I was not able to figure out what was going on and why I haven t seen my pastorin church for a very long time, until I became and adult at the age of 18. When I became an adult, I came to the realization that the pastor was removed due to him making some personal spiritual mistakes which were never disclosed to the public congregation and was not tolerable by the church leaders. ... The church community also needs to be addressed on how the new pastor s family was treated and why it is wrong, especially in an environment where all the members are supposed to feel welcome and treated like family, according to the biblical scriptures. The family of the new pastor and the new pastor needs to be apologized to. If they are not apologized to, they may continue to distance themselves from the church. Another issue is that when an issue like that of the founding pastor came to pass, the congregation was not well informed because of the privacy of the pastor. Because of this lack of information, parts of the church community were upset. • 15. Allusions In Dracula Hidden in Bram Stoker s Dracula contains abundant amounts of allusions and social commentaries. These rhetorical devices help connect the reader to the experience of the novel and allow them to have a more in depth understanding of the characters, and usage of religious allusions abets the reader in achieving that goal. In the worldwide masterpiece Dracula, Stoker uses religious, mythical, and archetypical allusions to depict Dracula as a peculiar and distinct creature as well as providing social commentary for current problems during the late Victorian era. For example, many religious objects Dracula shows weakness to shows the chasm between the religions of Anglican and Catholic Church, as Crucifixes, communion wafers, and convents are not, despite the bulk of critical attention reading them thusly, exclusively Catholic (Bowles 2). Stoker is insinuating a possible mending of relations between the two religions. Also, the usage of religions items shows that science that the West uses cannot usurp Dracula; instead, the hero has to look into superstition for the cure. In this sense, science is portrayed as a dangerous entity and many old, superstitious beliefs are reconsidered. Simultaneously, Harker is seen as having a sense of condescending and untrustworthy attitude towards the east and their superstition, as shown a crucifix he has been taught to regard such things as in some measure idolatrous (Stoker 9). Stoker also seems ignorant of Eastern culture, as he does not know the meaning of eve of St. George s Day (Stoker 9). Also, from the fact that Roman Catholic populations within Ireland simply do not function in London , it is understandable why Harker sees another religion in a negative light. (Bowles 1) In the real world, Stoker is calling for reconciliation of religion, while in the novel, Stoker shows the reason Dracula cannot die easily. By forcing to use other cultures and their teachings, Stoker shows how others could have the answers and depict Dracula as an interesting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Findings are presented on a sample of 20 gay father families, 20 lesbian mother families and 20 heterosexual parent families who have a child of age 4 6 years. Natural observations in a lab environment recorded children s tendency to choose gender specific, non gender specific or neutral toys. Comparisons in toy choice were made between children of gay , lesbian and same sex parents. Overall, children from heterosexual families showed greater gender stereotyping than children from homosexual families and both gender and sexual orientationof parents were found to be predictive of a child s toy choice. While recent research looking into the structure of the family on children s gender development has found some results indicating no difference between homosexual and heterosexual families (Chan, Rayboy, Patterson, 1998; Patterson, 1992), most studies have found that homosexual family structures account for lower gender stereotyped behaviours (Flaks, Ficher, Masterpasqua Joseph, 1995; Goldberg, Kashy, Smith, 2012; Suftin, Fulcher, Bowles Patterson, 2008). With this discrepancy in the research, further exploration into the gender differences of children from gay , lesbian and heterosexual families will help understand the effects of socialization on gender development and how to better promote the wellbeing and cognitive, social and personal development of children. Gender Development Children s gender development begins almost as soon as children can talk (Serbin, Powlishta, Gulko, 1993). With the early age of gender development, children s toy choice and play behaviours have been found to be efficient ways of measuring gender stereotypes. Many studies have found that males and females are more likely to engage in gender typed behaviours during periods of play (Cherney Dempsey, 2010). Recent research is beginning to see this as a problem and recognizes gender flexibility as more positive for children s development. An article ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The nature of sin is brought up many times in the play Doctor Faustus. It seems that Faustus (like all of us) is damned. The question posed is; can we as humans do anything to save ourselves from eternal damnation, or are we doomed from birth. The play deals with Faustus struggle to understand sin and its effect on the human soul. There is a interesting scene where the seven deadly sins appear before Faustus. To understand the importance of the seven deadly sins in this play, we must first learn what constitutes a sin. Once we grasp this, we can proceed to understand the role that sin has on the play. He replied: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two commandments. (Matthew 22:37 40). Since the entire law of God is according to the words of Jesus, this scripture is merely a commentary on the wonderful principles of love. If this is so, then sin should be defined in terms of a lack of love, rather than as a formal law. According to this point of view a sin is any failure to love God and our fellow man with a perfect heart, which then a lack of love would lead to certain attitudes and deeds which are displeasing to God. Keeping this in mind we can proceed to see how sins are classified. There are two categories of sin, mortal sin and venial sin. We commit mortal sins when we break a commandment of God in a serious manner, for example, idolatry, adultery, murder, slander. These are all things that are contrary to the love that we owe God. Jesus taught that even looking at a woman lustfully is a sin. Sin can be both committed on the inside (choices that we make in our minds) or on the outside (choices that are then carried into action). Intracranial Pressure (ICP) is the combination of the pressure exerted by the brain tissue, blood, and cerebral spinal fluid (CSF). The modified Monro kellie doctrine states that these three components must remain at a relatively constant volume within the closed skull structure. вќ‘ If the volume of any one of the three components increases within the cranial vault and the volume from another component is displaced, the total intracranial volume, and therefore, pressure, will not change. The upper limit of systemic arterial pressure at which autoregulation is effective is an MAP of 150 mmhg; once higher than this pressure the vessels are maximally constricted and further vasoconstricto response is lost. вќ‘ The cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) is the pressure needed to ensure blood flow to the brain[ CPP = MAP minus ICP] or [CPP = Flow x Resistance]. As the CPP decreases, auto regulation fails and CBF decreases, which can lead to ischemia and neuronal death. Compliance is the expandability of the brain. With low compliance, small changes in volume result in greater increases in pressure. When cerebral vascular resistance is high, blood flow to brain tissue is impaired. Transcranial Doppler is a noninvasive technique used in ICUs to monitor changes in cerebrovascular resistance. вќ‘ To maintain cerebral blood flow (CBF), it is necessary to keep cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) in the range of 60 100 mm Hg. It depicted the emotional response of the Persian Elders, the Queen Mother Atossa, a herald, King Xerxes, and the ghost of Darius upon hearing the news of the Persian defeat at the Battle of Salamis against the Greeks. The play began with a conversation amongst the Persianselders about their war with the Greeks. They possessed grave trepidations because of a lack of news from the front. This fear stemmed from the great risk King Xerxes took by calling all the heroes and soldiers of the Persian Empire to fight in Greece. At first, they were confident of their victory, describing their forces as an unconquerable ocean of men . However, their fear persisted of their forces decimation. Later on, the Queen Mother, Atossaappeared before the Elders with an ominous vision. She acquired about the land and personality of the Greeks while the Elders reassured her of their army s success. When Atossa was about to leave to make sacrifices to the gods, a herald entered the palace with horrific news. The Persian forces was decimated by the smaller Greek forces at the Salamis, almost all of their heroes were dead, but Xerxes was still alive. Somatic Marker Hypothesis Part 1: research justification Traditionally, decision making has been seen as a purely rational process involving a logical analysis of the response options and their believed outcomes. However, the somatic marker hypothesis (SMH) proposes that in situations where outcomes are uncertain, our decisions are guided by emotion rather than reason. According to this hypothesis, physiological feedback from the body informs our emotional experience, which in turn guides our decision making. Somatic Markers are formed when the consequence of a particular response option evokes a set of physiological responses (e.g. increased heart rate). These physiological responses become associated with the response option and thus mark that option with emotional value. This IP address is assigned by the ISP out of a specific designated block of IP addresses and manually entered into the computer. While primarily IP addresses are sent to the host by the DHCP now, certain people prefer static IP. Static IP is also used for the URL or uniform resource locator to give a website a permanent residence on the internet. This keeps the website from bouncing around from leased IP s that a DHCP would give. This type of network would also be good for VPN s and remote access. To quote Lifewire: (Fisher, 2017) Because a static IP address never changes, other devices always know exactly how to contact a device that uses one. Rhetorical Analysis on Bush s Letter to Hussein Ana Giorlando Feb. 4, 2013 Pithy Persuasiveness in a Letter Abroad President George Bush s letter to President Saddam Hussein is a convincing segment intended to persuade Hussein to remove his forces from Kuwait before conflict ensues. Some critical readers believe that Bush does not provide a rational argument, but this paper is taking the standpoint that Bush not only is rational, but cogent. President George Bush is able to effectively convey his forceful message to President Saddam Hussein, expressing that Iraqmust leave Kuwait through the use of establishing credibility, strength, repetition, and persuasive appeals by explaining that the world will not tolerate war and violence any longer.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While using small statistic numbers, trying to persuade the President of Iraq how they stand alone, Bush states how many people are on the United States side. These include; Security Council Resolutions, the countries providing militaries, and all the governments that are in agreement with them, concluding that it is Iraq at odds with the world. This having evidence, is a scare tactic as it shows Hussein that they are mostly unaided and also, a show of adverse consequences pushing Iraq to believe that they would undoubtedly lose the fight. Even though the message comes across to some extent threatening to the people of Iraq, Bush appeases the feeling by stating that his intention was only to inform them seeing as how the United States has no quarrel with Iraq. In conclusion, President George Bush s letter shows how united the world is against Iraq s aggression. Twenty eight countries would give military aid and one hundred governments would agree with the United States position. Iraq has no allies in their takeover of Kuwait. Bush s threats of military action challenge Saddam Hussein s arrogance and sense of infallibility. Warnings of the destruction of Iraq s military and loss of life would be on the hands of Hussein himself. The United States would not be responsible for Iraq s losses. Again, the primary audience for this letter is Hussein himself, because in a dictatorship such as Iraq, the people themselves are deprived of such information. Brute ... • 52. The Sexual Orientation Of Parents Essay Article 1: Stacey, J., Biblarz, T. J. (2001). (How) does the sexual orientation of parents matter? American Sociological Review, 66(2), 159 183. The goal of this study was to dispute the negative heterosexism perceptions attached to the development of children with parents who identify as gay and lesbian. The authors focused on the analysis of previous research findings, comparing the outcomes of the children from heterosexual single mothers and homosexual parents, particularly lesbian mothers. These studies explored the relationship between homophobia, the sexual orientation of the parents and the outcome of the child; in addition to the influence on sexual preferences and well being of the children. A critical finding from this study, was the belief that the discrimination surrounding homophobia is the core reason as to why the concern behind sexual orientation of parents exists at all. This article found a stronger correlation between the children, specifically daughters raised by lesbian mothers, and the absence of typical gender identities associated with their behaviour, chosen activities and aspirations for the future. These results suggest children of lesbian parenting are not forced to restrict themselves to certain gender associated roles. When examining the sexual preferences and behaviour of the children from both households, they found the children of lesbian mothers were more open to considering a same sex relationship in their future. In software architecture one can schedule a project to be done in as little as one month depending on the project. Within the building architecture the scheduling is more time consuming and could take up more time depending if the stakeholder is approved for certain aspects of the building. In the building architecture one needs to take into consideration the scheduling when it comes to the inspectors. There are times when they are able to go and let the stakeholders know what passed and what did not. In software architecture the program will flag where the program is, making it easier for the programmer to go back and check on the spot when running the program. In the diagram below one can see the aspects as well as the differences in both software and building architecture. This fascination is also brought up when describing the blaze in detail raw blue at the base, and a slope of gold, a touch to the packed tobacco . In contrast, he also uses negative imagery to detail the process of how smoking destroys the body. He introduces a destructive mood to the poem when referring to the way that smoke gets To the black crust of lungs , the Veins tight and the heart slow both due to the lack of blood flow. Glaser, therefore, introduces the theme of decay and death, as the poem progresses. Kenyon uses imagery at the very beginning of the poem to give color to the cat by mentioning his long red fur , the white feathers between his toes and his long, not to say aquiline, nose , a trait that defines his visage. She also uses it to illustrate the fragile and gloomy mood at the beginning of the poem.
