Essay About Leadership Qualities
Crafting an essay on the subject of leadership qualities presents a unique set of challenges. First
and foremost, one must navigate the expansive landscape of leadership itself, a concept with
multifaceted dimensions that span across various fields and disciplines. Identifying the key
qualities that define a successful leader requires a comprehensive understanding of leadership
theories, ranging from trait-based models to situational and transformational approaches.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in striking a balance between theoretical concepts and practical
examples. It's not sufficient to merely enumerate a list of leadership traits; the essay should delve
into real-world scenarios and exemplify how these qualities manifest in effective leaders. This
demands meticulous research and a keen eye for selecting relevant case studies that showcase
leadership in action.
Moreover, addressing the diverse perspectives on leadership is no easy feat. Scholars and experts
often differ in their views on what constitutes effective leadership, and reconciling these varied
opinions adds complexity to the writing process. Navigating through the plethora of literature
and integrating conflicting viewpoints requires a discerning approach to provide a nuanced and
well-rounded analysis.
Developing a coherent and compelling argument is another layer of difficulty. Connecting the
dots between different leadership qualities, illustrating their interplay, and demonstrating how
they contribute to successful leadership demands a strategic and logical approach. Transitioning
smoothly between paragraphs to maintain a cohesive narrative requires careful planning and
meticulous organization of thoughts.
Finally, the essay should not merely be informative but also engaging. A successful essay on
leadership qualities should captivate the reader's attention, inspiring reflection and fostering a
deeper understanding of the subject. Achieving this level of engagement demands effective
writing skills, creativity, and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and accessible
manner.
In conclusion, writing an essay on leadership qualities is a formidable task that involves
navigating through theoretical complexities, integrating diverse perspectives, and crafting a
compelling narrative. Success in this endeavor requires a blend of research skills, analytical
thinking, and effective communication. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or other
writing challenges, resources like HelpWriting.net can provide valuable support and guidance.

Functionalist View Of The Law Making Process
Sociologists have many perspectives when it comes to the examination of our laws.
Three out of many theories of lawmaking processes are the Rationalistic model,
Functionalistic view, and Conflict perspective. Rationalistic models view laws as a
rational way of increasing protection for members of society from crimes which
are socially injurious (Vago 2012). Functionalist view look at where the ideas
behind the laws come from and describes laws as re institutionalized customs ,
where lawmaking is a reiteration of customs (Vago 2012). Conflict perspective
describe laws as value the opinions of the elite, instill unequal access to economic
goods which upkeep the social economical groups, basically keeps the elite on top
(Vago 2012). The three theories are all similar but different at the same time. In my
opinion, conflict theories captures the reality of law making process. The
Functionalist view of making laws deal mainly with how laws come about. They are
primarily created to restate the customs or rules and norms that make society
function normally (Vago 2012). This theory makes laws seem more democratically
decided because the people (at least the majority) within the society deem what the
customs are. The idea behind this theory is that society is comprised of mainly
harmonious social groupsthat ensure harmony through common belief. Basic values
are not the culprit in dysfunctionality, such as conflict, and even though these
conflicts exist, it doesn t reflect the

A commonly used helmet was the Bascinet because of its new and advanced
features listed above. Plate amour continued to grow in popularity during the 14

yet not as protective type of body armour called the Coat of Plates was made which
was a collection of plates (back and front) attached to a cloth or garment. A series
of new plate amour was also added, including a breast plate, Demi greaves (shin
guards), Sabatons (for the protection of the feet) and Vambraces (covering the

Century: The 15th century sparked the time when medieval armour reached its full
potential. Full sets of armour were now made, carefully covering every part of the
body. The helmet further developed, beginning to look more like a helmet we think
of today, with a big T shaped opening at the front. Plate armour began to become
widespread and was used by many different countries such as Germany and Italy.
Because plate armour worked so well at protecting a knight, shields gradually

Greed In Snow Country
In the novel of Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata, this is a wary relationship
between a wedded guest and a geisha at a hot spring. Kawabata creates a love story
that results into nothing. He creates the theme of wasted effort between them.
Through out the book, two situations of wasted effort is the hobbies they took up and
their relationship. Between the two of them they had little to nothing in common but
what brought them together was a little bit of luck and knowledge.
The first situation of wasted effort in the novel is the hobby the two main characters
had. Shimamura loves and dedicates his time into the study of occidental dance.

between the two of them was not going to work well. This relationship has gotten
too far and he needs to end it soon. Being a wedded visitor who visits once or twice

The Visit At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art
Over the thanksgiving break I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met is an
art museum in New York City that has a variety of ancient artwork from different
cultures and time periods. There is paintings and sculptures from Ancient Egypt,
Ancient Rome and Greece. The museum is additionally home to artwork from many
different time periods including ancient Near Eastern Art, Middle Ages and Europe
during the Renaissance. The Met also has artwork from many different religions such
as Christianity and Islam. Each section in the museum had a specific artwork that
attracted my attention. On the first floor of the Met Museum is the Greek and
Roman Art. The Greek and Roman section has hundreds of art work ranging from the
Neolithic period to Roman Emperor Constantine. In the Greek and Roman section
there is many portraits and sculptures including the statue of Emperor Augustus, the
statue of Aphrodite, and the Marble female figure. The sculptures in this section
range in different shapes, sizes and colors and are made with a variety of materials.
The sculptures depict emperors, Kings, Queens, Gods and Goddesses of the time.
Much of the statues in this section are missing key parts such as arms, legs and the
head due to the fact that they were damaged before being bought to the museum. The
statue in this section that caught my attention the most was the Marble Statue of
Aphrodite. This is a statue of Aphrodite, who is the Greek Goddess of love, beauty

Integrated Reporting And An Understanding Of A Company
s...
Integrated Reporting is a more holistic approach to gaining an understanding of a
company s performance. It takes into consideration factors including the environment,
society and governance when evaluating a company s performance and strategizing
on a future course of action. One of the most recent and promising developments in
Integrated Reporting has been the release of the Integrated International Reporting
Framework by the International Integrated Reporting Council. This paper assesses
the opportunities, benefits, challenges and limitations of this framework.
Introduction
The Integrated International Reporting Framework was introduced by the
International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) to guide the entire integrated
reporting process and also to clearly define key ideas and concepts of this framework.
Given some of the confusion surrounding this framework among companies and
accountants in New Zealand with respect to what precisely the Integrated IR
Framework is and how it might affect accounting practice, this essay purports to
clearly explain the framework. Further, this paper will also critically examine the
framework, highlighting some of the salient opportunities, benefits, challenges and
limitations of this approach. Finally, it will briefly reflect upon the implication of the
framework for accounting practice.

Types Of Dwellings Used By Ancient Romans
Introduction Up to that time, the western world had never seen an empire as
extensive and encompassing as the Roman Empire (Mark, 2011). Even after her
fall tales of her exploits continue to be told and retold. However, the Roman Empire
was not merely comprised of emperors, generals and poets. Like all civilizations
that came before it and that have come since, the domain of Rome comprised of
many different people from varying social classes who lived in homes just like
people today. For this unit s discussion, I will discuss the layout and function of the
various types of dwellings used by the ancient Romans and provide my thoughts
regarding how those comparisons compare to the dwellings of today. Discussion
The type of dwelling occupied by an ancient Roman was contingent on their place
on the social ladder and their vocation (Kirby, 2001b). Furthermore, whereas a
farmer would prefer to live out in the country, a merchant, in all likelihood, would
prefer to live in the city (Kirby, 2001b). Not unlike today, a substantial portion of
the urban population lived in apartments (Kirby, 2001a). Most rentals were located
in large complexes called Insula, some of which were as tall as seventy feet (seven
stories) (Kirby, 2001a). These apartments would have been crowded usually
composed of a single room that doubled as sleeping and living area (Moulton,
1998b). Tenets would have shared a common culinary and sanitary area while
plumbing would not have reached those residing on
The Spanish Reconquista
Spain has always been a melting pot of ethnicity and culture. From the Celts and
Visigoths that came from the north to the Africans and Arabs from the south to the
Romans from the East, empires, kingdoms, and tribes all over the world have
recognized and tried to take advantage of the benefits of Spain. War, conquest, and
reconquest are frequent throughout the entire history of Spain, and the history of
Moorsin Spain is no exception. It began in the year 711 when the Moors first crossed
over to the Iberian Peninsula, until their expulsion from Granada in 1492 which
marks the end of the Reconquista, they influenced the native Iberians in many ways
including culture and religion. The Moors were people of Berber, Black African, and

Christians and Jews were heavily taxed for the right to practice their own religions.
Those who converted to Islam, however, paid lesser taxes and had more privileges.
Around 718, Pelagius, a Visigoth nobleman, established an independent Christian
state in opposition to the Moorish dominance in Spain. Due to his opposition of
Muslim control, Pelagius and a group of 30 some men were exiled and lived in a
cave, refusing to pay taxes and harassing the Moors. Between 718 and 722,
Pelagius and his small band of warriors fought and triumphed against the Moors at
the Battle of Covodonga. This is considered the beginning of the Spanish
Reconquista. The Reconquista was a period of around 774 years where the
Christian kings reclaimed the Iberian Peninsula from the Islamic Moors. The
Reconquista was not carried out by the Spanish alone, however. King Charlemagne
of France reclaimed the western Pyrenees and formed the Marca Hispanica to
defend the border between the Frankish Kingdom and the Muslims. Christians from
all over Europe traveled to the Iberian Peninsula to participate in the reclaiming of
Spain in the name of God. The Reconquista was not all war and conquest, but also
the re population of Christians on the peninsula. As the Berbers abandoned towns and
fortresses, the Christian kings took their people and re inhabited those areas. In some
places, Christian peasants, monks, and nobles were granted lands by their king or

Criticism Of Andrew Clark An American Politician From
The...
I am sure you would agree with me when I say we cannot escape the inevitability
(in ev i ta bility) of criticism. Aristotle once said, Criticism is something we can
avoid easily by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing. But I beg to
disagree because people will criticize you for saying nothing, doing nothing and
being nothing. Someone once said, Criticism is the muck in which the plants of the
Lord grow strong and no child of God should fear Criticism. Criticism has the
potential to help believers in their spiritual growth? Listen to what Frank Clark an
American politician from the early 1900s said, Criticism, like rain, should be gentle
enough to nourish a man s growth without destroying his roots.
Criticism comes in two forms, destructive and constructive. They are both self
explanatory. Nevertheless, destructive criticism has the potential for spiritual growth
but that would depend on the receiver. Destructive criticism can make us look
inwardly ask the deep question, is it true of me. If the criticism levied is true, then
do what needs to be done to correct it. If the criticism is malicious then ignore it and
make sure you do not give your critics ammunition to prove their point.
I would admit that criticism is not always easy to handle. People can be crude but
always remember we are not responsible for the actions of others. We will only
answer to God for our actions. The gospel is bigger than our feelings and has serious
implications for mankind. So

Ballad of Birmingham, Dudley Randall illustrates the worry of the girl s mother.
As a child, the girl wanted to go out to downtown to march the streets of
Birmingham because they were doing a freedom march. The poem ended with so
much tragedy I honestly thought it was super sad, I wish it could have ended
differently. I have been through a similar situation with my mom as the girl
described in the poem. In my case, my mother s protection worked. The girl in the
poem keeps insisting towards her mom for her to be able to go downtown. The girl

go with a group of friends that when I have the age I can maybe go. My mom did not
want me to go also because is such a wild place to be you just have to be aware all
the time and there are always police officers around for a reason. In Ultra, they serve
alcohol and you have people selling drugs too so she did not want me to be around
Infant Trauma
There are many types of trauma that people experience everyday in our world.
People can do awful things to each other, including violence, abuse, and neglect.
Accidents happen that leave us feeling distressed. Some threaten our sense of
safety and connection. These are all experiences that take time to heal and recover
from. We must find a way to reconcile the life we had before it happened and the
life as we know it after a tragic event. The pain of the memories alone can be
devastating. It takes time and support to find a sense of self again, to feel safe in
the world again. But what if the trauma happened before life ever really began? Is
there any lasting effect on a person that was merely an infantwhen the trauma was
experienced?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other form of memory is declarative memory (also known as explicit or late
memory). It stores sequential and contextual events, as well as factual knowledge
that can be articulated (Paley Alpert, 2003). Procedural memories are also
described and indelible and are, therefore, engraved in your brain and body for life.
Other types of memories that are described in more detail and are classified as non
verbal are categorized as behavioral memory, somatic somatosensory memory, and
visual memory. Behavioral memories can be seen in play therapy where the child
will actually be able to act out their experiences with dolls. Somatic somatosensory
memory presentation is particularly relevant to traumatized newborns or very
young infants, who may perceive trauma predominantly as concrete sensory
perceptions (Paley Alpert, 2003). All of this research tells me that we need to
broaden out ways of thinking of memory. It is not simply a process in which, if you
can tell me what happened, then you remember it, if you can t, then you simply
have no memory of the event. As we have discussed in class and in Discussion
Board, your body remembers. It makes sense that we can extend this concept to pre
memory infancy or childhood. To consider the impact these traumatic events can have
on a person s life, we must investigate how they can change development. Paley and

The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Worker Policies
Around the 1910s, America was in a time of industrialization where there was the
development of factory system and mass production, and the increasing growth rate
population. While this transformation may have provided many benefits to
Americans, it also carried negative results. For instance, The Triangle Shirtwaist
Factory, located in Manhattan, New York City
, managed by Max Blanck and Isaac
Harris, sold shirtwaists, an immensely popular necessity that every women desired to
have in their closet. Since Blanck and Harris were known for operating the largest
firm in business, they were notorious for taking advantage of the enormous amount of
immigrants entering New York during the early twentieth century, and hiring them in
a sweatshopthat consisted of poor ventilation, overcrowded working environment,
and dangerous machinery. (Lyons) In addition, Not only did Blanck and Harris
have a suspicious history of factory fires, they were also well known for anti
worker policies. (Downey) On March 25, 1911, The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory
employees were in jeopardy when the building had caught on fire. During the
incident, there were four elevators with access to the factory floors, however, only
one of the elevators was working and it could only hold twelve people at a time.
There were also two stairways but one was locked from the outside to prevent theft
or employees ditching work. While Harris and Blanck received warning and escaped
the building, the workers continued
Joseph Mccarthy Rhetorical Analysis
The war of ideologies is ubiquitous. Everything that is subject to evaluation is
arguable. What is the best show on television, what s the safest vehicle to drive, or
what is the right religious faith to follow? The need to sway the opinion of our
opponents stems from the desire to know that we are making rational decisions using
a sound mind. When Joseph McCarthy(in a speech in Wheeling, West Virginia, on
February 9, 1950) sought to persuade his audience to support exposing and ousting
State Department employees that he suspected of Communist allegiance, his
rhetorical strategies would lean on stirring the emotions of those present. Calling
communism a religion of immoralism, McCarthy focused on its lack of religious
content rather than
Geography Of The Indus River
Barrett, EmilyPeriod 6 4/30/15
Geography
The Indus River is located on the northwestern part of the sub continent with other
rivers draining into it. Another river called the Ganges River was east of the Indus
River. The climate was tropical and contained seasonal winds called monsoons.
Monsoons during the winter were dry and went from land to the sea, letting little rain
fall on the land. During summer monsoons wet winds go from ocean to land bringing
rain with it. The mountain ranges, the Himalayas and Hindu Kush, were located near
the north.
The first civilization in the sub continent grew around the Indus River; later another
civilization grew around the Ganges River. The rivers would flood and this leaves
behind rich soils which makes plentiful crops that fed the civilization. Agriculture
depends on the summer monsoon. If rain comes, there are no problems, but if it
comes late or not at all crops die and people starve. Since they could not always
depend on the monsoons they made irrigation channels that led to their crops. The
Himalayas and Hindu Kush separated the sub continent from the rest of Asia. Culture

India was the first place that made and used cotton in a piece of clothing called a sari,
which was worn by women. This piece of clothing was long and could be worn in
different ways. Rich women wore saris made of silk. Men wore a long piece of
clothing called a dhoti. Since dhotis were shorter they only covered men s lower

The Patriot Movie Analysis
The Patriot. A person who is willing to fight for their country against enemies. The
Patriot begins in the year 1776 in the colony of South Carolina. Mel Gibson plays a
planation farmer who fought in the French Indian war named Benjamin Martin. A
War was about to begin and Benjamin wanted no share partaking in the soon to be
American Revolutionary War. He was more concerned about his two eldest sons
who wanted to fight under General George Washington. The beginning of the
movie starts out with Benjamin Martin peacefully living with his kids whom no
longer have a living mother. Benjamin s oldest son, Gabriel, joins the war without
permission from his father. As the rest of the family are at home one afternoon,
Colonel William Travington burns the Martin Plantation to the ground and his
second oldest son was killed immediately for interrupting Travington s plan.
Benjamin finds a way to seek revenge because of the rage he experiences after his
family is hurt. He begins to realize that he needs to fight for his children and he
will not do it alone. Both Benjamin and his oldest son, Gabriel, decide to join the
militia as a way of showing what they are capable of. Throughout the film,
Benjamin Martin becomes a soldier whom others respect and admire. He shows
the militia what it means to truly care for not only his men, but also for his family.
As the film progresses, a turn of events take place that show Benjamin s continued
want of revenge against General Charles Cornwallis. The Continentals and the
militia soon commence the battle at Cowpens. This is when Benjamin Martin
meets his enemy, Travington, who murdered his two eldest sons. After a drawn
out battle, Benjamin stabs Travington in the neck and kills him for the sake of his
children. It is then that General Cornwallis retreats his forces and the rest
celebrate. Even though some portions of The Patriot aren t as accurate as we
perceive, it is a film full of war and despair, but also a film that contributes to the
importance of dignity and the love for one s family. The Patriot attracts an audience
who is interested in learning about generalized history, but also wanting to feel a
sense of pride and enjoyment in the end as the United States of America is

Watch design underwent a revolutionary change in the early 1970s when traditional
mechanical movement technology was replaced with electronics. A mechanical
watch s energy source came from a tightened mainspring which was wound by the
user. As the spring unwound it drove a series of gears to which the watch hands were
attached, the hands moved around the analog (or numerical) face of the watch to
indicate the time. Highly skilled workers were required to produЕ“ and assemble the
movements in accurate mechanical watches and the Swiss were world renowned in
this area.

Ottis Toolle Rape Case
One of the cases of Behavior Therapy is the broader list of killer Ottis Toole . The
case study about a young boy, Toole suffered a great deal of rejection and humiliation
at the hand of those whom he looked to for support. Toole turn his frustration toward
more vulnerable targets because he could not retaliate against those that inflicted his
pain. Hence, his long career of murderbegan when he was 14. Toole is credited with
multiple killing when he at Western United States. He stormed into a massage parlor
in Colorado Springs. He stabbed one employee and slit her throat. Another employee
was raped, shot and stabbed. Toole next travel to Jacksonville and meet his infamous
partner in crime, Henry Lee Lucas. Toole and two teenage accomplices burn two
houses. At the time of Toole s arrest and sentencing, his former associate, Henry
Lucas, was already in prison freely divulging information concerning the many
murders that he and Toole had committed. Toole supports Lucas s statement and
claimed participation in more than 100 murders (Singer Hensley, 2004).... Show more

The colour used is important to the artwork because together they create a place of
tranquillity meeting on coming havoc.
The lines that are used do not outline individual objects in the painting but define the
shapes of each. They show the direction that the artist took when painting this
particular art piece. They are delicate and sensitive lines in the sense that they are not
always visible but they still define the object.
The painting has been painted to a deep 2D form. This form creates an illusion of a
large amount of space. As if to create the illusion that you were looking out past the
village towards the horizon. This was important so to capture the full effect of havoc
reaching the harmony.
The shape of the artwork is soft and flowing into each section. By using this format
the artist has created a piece of volume and depth.
Interpretation
A peaceful village in a sense of harmony with an on coming storm, darkness and
gloom. The black birds are flying out of the impending doom to shelter.
My interpretation of what is happening is the village is peaceful sort of like the soul
and then the storm comes and suddenly everything is in havoc. As if the painter had
some form of inner turmoil when painting.
The painter is trying to say that nothing is ever peaceful forever and eventually
darkness will come. He was looking out over the village and saw the oncoming
storm on the horizon and the black birds fleeing and it reflected his inner
The Leadership Style Of The Company Of Netflix And A...
Introduction Wilmot Reed Hasting, an education philanthropist and entrepreneur,
is known for serving over the boards of Facebook, CEO of Netflix and a number of
not for profit companies. In the year 1997, Marc Randolph and Hastings
contributed in co founding Netflix that offers film rental by mail at a flat rate or
price to the customers in the entire United States of America. With the headquarters
in California, the company of Netflix has been amassing a collection of more than
44 million subscribers for almost 100,000 titles. Hastings is known for being
ahead in the curve of technology. He also possesses the quality of anticipating the
preferences of the customers. In consideration with this quality, it had been
anticipated by him that in an eventual manner the customers will show preferences
towards getting movies instantly being delivered through the sources of the

number of individuals in the market, the organization had been able to achieve
success in the initial period and in recent times due to the leadership style of Reed
Hastings. Hence, the leadership style of Reed Hastings is extremely important for
the purpose of this report and will be the key focus of the research as well. In the

The Punnett Square Analysis
The Punnett Square helps you see the gene combinations that are possible like
knowing the gender. The darkest gene in the family usually gets picked example if
you have blue eyes and your husband has brown 75 percent your child would have
brown eyes. Brown eyes are most dominant because they are much darker and more
of people s cellhave them. If somebody had a blonde wife with blue eyes and the
male had brown hair and brown eyes the baby would have 75 percent blue eyes due
to the mother having light genes. They say a parent with brown eyes get blue eyed
children because the periodic table has all kind of variations in the ways genes

Excerpts From Being And Time By Martin Dasein Analysis
An Outline Summary: Excerpts from Being and Time (1927) (Dasein s Possibility of
Being a Whole, and Being towards Death) Martin Heidegger
Martin Heidegger started his argument by saying that once the Dasein reaches its
death, it then loses its state of being there and is now transitioning to a no longer
dasein state and will take it as an experience. However, death of the Other, as he said,
is rather impressive and the termination of Dasein, in turn, will be Objectively
accessible therefore making bounds of the Dasein s totality. Even with the Other s
death, in its no longer Dasein state and Being no longer in the world, it is still
considered as a Being just in the Being just present at hand and no more of a bodily
thing that we will encounter. The coming of an end of an entity qua Dasein is the
coming forth of beginning of the same entity qua something present at hand. The
changing over of Dasein to that of the Being just present at hand and no more
doesn t necessarily imply that we are not presented with such mere corporeal
Thing. Even if reaching the peak of death, a dead corpse can be of use to someone
who is seeking for the meaning or idea of life. This such being is not to be confused
as a lifeless material for it may have lost its life but it still always something more
than that. He then defined deceased as that which ... Show more content on

the possibility for it to be coming to an end. He has said that the dying of Others is
suggested to be the substitute for the analysis of Dasein s totality however, that is

Dont Ask, Dont Tell
Homosexuals should be allowed to serve openly in all branches of the US Military
Gays should be allowed to openly serve in all areas and levels of the U.S. military
because logic and the tide of political correctness dictate that such should be the case.
The American armed forces had, since the early revolutionary war, held sodomy
(then generally defined as the conduct of performing anal or oral sexual act) as
grounds for discharge. It was in 1950, when the Uniform form Code of Military
Justice prohibiting homosexual and heterosexual anal and oral sex was passed, that
the gay ban began. Under President Ronald Reagan, the gay ban was more stringently
enforced. In the 1990s, amidst vicious opposition to repeal the ban, President Bill ...

However, homosexual s open service should no longer be an issue of friction
because the American society is increasingly moving towards open acceptance of
gay developments that even include gay marriages and open military service. The
fears of the deterioration of heterosexual military members in the event of open
service of gays in all military branches are no longer supported by studies on civilian
and enlisted service personnel s attitude. No less than Service members Legal
Defense Network (SLDN) s Director of Law and Policy Sharra Greer have observed
that in the present, Heterosexual service members serve alongside lesbian and gay
colleagues every day and they are increasingly comfortable doing so (New Poll).
There is, in fact, a considerable presence of gay and lesbian Americans serving in the
armed forces. Despite the ban on open gay service, the different opinion survey
results reflect how both the American public and the enlisted personnel themselves
either find the matter of sexual orientation irrelevant to military performance, or
recognize the contributions of the enlisted gay members to the country s military.
An estimate places the number of gay and lesbian Americans serving in the armed
forces at 65,000 (New Poll). Since the gay ban began to be initiated in 1943,
applicants had been pre screened; for those who avoided or survived the pre

What Makes George Washington A Good Leader
George Washington
I also chose to research George Washington, because I thought it would be
interesting to find out how good of a leader he actually was. I ve always known
who George Washington was, but I never knew what kind of leader he was, or what
he did in his lifetime. So I wanted to research him so that I know what kind of leader
he was. George Washingtonwas born on February 22nd, 1732 in Westmoreland

military and political type of leader. George Washington s wife was named Martha

George Washington never even enjoyed being the president. Nonetheless, he
proved that he was an able administer. I do believe that George Washington used his
power very well. As the first president, George Washington was aware that his
presidency would set a precedent for all that would follow him. Washington
carefully attended to the responsibilities and duties of being the president. At first
Washington declined the $25 000 salary that congress offered the office of the
presidency, because he was already wealthy and he wanted to protect his image as a
selfless public servant. Congress later persuaded him to accept the compensation to
avoid giving people the impression that only wealthy men could serve as president.
George Washington proved that he could be a great leader. Washington surrounded
himself with some of the most capable people in the United States. He made
Alexander Hamilton Secretary of the Treasury and Thomas Jefferson Secretary of
State. George Washington really thought about things and was wise when making a
decision, and before he would make a final decision he would make sure to ask for

Those that lived through these tragedies bring back many impacted and emotional

must have witnessed. There were many responsibilities my grandfather had to learn
quickly to help out his family during this destructive time. Since my grandpa had to

How Is Soma Used In Brave New World
When reading the novel, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, it is unmistakably
evident that the use of stimulants (soma) is the leading source of the society s
happiness. Drugs and medicine are used in both societies in many comparable and
contrasting ways. Our soma takes a different form than it does in Brave New World,
but a lot of the results are the same. The most common similarity between the use
of drugs in the two societies is the purpose of the drug is use. This motive is for
escaping reality. In Brave New World, all citizens in the society take soma
whenever they are stressed or emotional. This medication keeps all negative
thoughts off a person s mind, basically creating a blindness to everything around
them that is corrupt. Linda, one of the characters in the book who was from the
Brave New World but lived with the savages, shows a little bit of how soma is
used in today s society when she becomes alcohol dependent. When she no longer
had access to soma, she turned to alcohol (also referred to as mescal in the novel)
as an escape from all the atrocious things she had to experience at the savage
reservation (Brave New World 125). In today s society people, especially young
people, use alcohol and other drugs to mask the unhappiness they have in their lives.

The Pros And Cons Of An Organ Donor
Just like every medical procedure, there are many conjectures about how exactly
everything is taken care of. The majority of people believe that if they become organ
donors, then the doctors will not try as hard to save them. This idea, of course, is
irreconcilable in the medical community, as doctors must take an oath that states they
will administer any treatment necessary to save a patient s life. An additional
presumption is that a patient can be too young or too old to donate their organs. In
reality, any organs can be harvested from the time the patient is born to their death,
health, not age determines the organs viability. meepThe patient s family will never

an opinion in which you will read in the following. The opinion is not a fact nor
statement, but it is an opinion. And opinion in which you are not entitled to, but
you can stand by this opinion. If you choose. I m going to answer the question
which is better, with facts, opinions, and evidence. That might make you do a
double take. The Book I am David was far better than the movie. The book was
better than the movie as I have stated above. One reason for the book being better
than the movie is that facts have shown that 74% of the movies that have books.
The book is better. This is one of those cases. The book was longer, which led to a
series of unfolding events where as the movie got right to the chase, and skipped a lot.

why just stare at a screen for a long time and hurt your eyes, when you can read a

third reason for the book being better than the movie was because the movie had

thing that the movie changed is when David is on the ship heading to Italy the man,

The Influence Of The Enigma
The Enigma was created at the end of World War I and patented in 1919 by Arthur
Scherbius, a German engineer. The Enigma was a electro magnetic ciphering
machine and it was used by the German military as a way of communicating
securely. As time went on, the Enigma was updated, and made more secure. It was
used throughout World War II until the end of the war, though the Germans didn t
realize that the Enigma had been cracked by the British. Arthur Scherbius first
released the Enigma for commercial sale in 1923, barely anyone showed any
interest in the cipher machine. The first two models were heavy and they weren t
easy to use. He released two other models a few years later, which were lighter, and
were not as hard to use. He started getting inquiries about his machine from different
governments. The German military eventually took on his creation in the late 1920
s. Around 100,000 Enigma machines were sold. This is how the Enigma worked:
The user would type in what they wanted to encrypt and there would be a light that
popped up after each letter was typed showing the substitution letter chosen by the
settings of the cipher and then they would record the letters given to them and then
they would send the message. The receiver of the message would only be able to

Income Statements
The 2012 income statements for Google and Apple are built according to the
following assumptions. For each company, the revenue will increase at the
average rate for the past two years. The dynamics for each company have changed
significantly in the past two years, as each in that time span has grown from being
a relatively small player in mobile to being the two world leaders. Apple in
particular has only had the iPad for a couple of years, so prior growth rates are not
applicable. For Google, the short time frame reflects what should be maturity in
the online advertising market, resulting in growth rates that are slower than the
company has enjoyed on average in the past 10 years. The expense categories are
going to be assumed as equal to their average of the past three years, which allows
for the expenses to be understood in terms of the mobile era for each of these
companies. No unusual expenses are expected; they are unusual in nature therefore
are probably not going to be budgeted. Taxation will be budgeted at the average rate
for the past three years. It is also assumed that there is no low, average and high
estimates for revenues. As software companies, employees are the most significant
operating cost other than COGS. These companies can adjust hiring easily should
revenues lag, hiring can be adjusted within a month or quarter. This negates the
usefulness of the low estimate, which would be more valuable to firms that have a
more difficult time adjusting their
Taking a Look a the Iberian Lynx
Taxonomy Phylogeny The Iberian Lynx is a member of the Felidae family under
the Lynx genus. Its scientific name is Lynx Pardinus. The Iberian lynx is believed to
be a descendent of the Issoire Lynx (Lynx issiodorensis), along with the other
members of the lynx family (bobcat, Canada Lynx, and Eurasian Lynx). Until
recently, the Iberian lynxwas thought to be a sub species of the Eurasian Lynx, it is
now classified as a separate species.
Range
Iberian Lynx were originally found all throughout Spain, Portugal and parts of
Southern France. They inhabit dense scrubby areas mixed with open fields. These
habitats were once prevalent throughout the Spanish countryside, but now are
disappearing. The area that the Iberian Lynx is able to successfully occupy has been
drastically reduced by human development resulting in habitat destruction.
Today, Iberian lynx are only found natural in two areas of southern Spain. The
highest concentrations are found Sierra Morena. The other wild population is found
in Donana National park. They do not have enough space to provide for their food
needs.
Population At one time the Iberian Lynx was abundant throughout the Iberian
Peninsula. With the decline of its habitat the Iberian Lynx population began to
plummet. This decline in population was very rapid. The loss of habitat restricted
food sources and separated populations, which caused the Lynx to disappear at an
alarming rate. In The 1960s there was estimated to be 3000 Iberian
Poetry Analysis Of Maya Angelou s Still I Rise
Poetry Analysis of Maya Angelou s Still I Rise Maya Angelou s poem Still I Rise
was published in 1978 at one of the most productive and successful periods of
Angelou s career. Still I Rise tells about bouncing back and rising up past oppression
and hate. The speaker in Angelou s poem talks to a direct audience, asking them
questions, announcing to them that no matter what they do, she will always rise
back up. The poem is broken up into quatrains, although the last two stanzas use the
repetition of the phrase I rise between the complete lines. The author uses figurative
language in every stanza of her poem and uses similes and metaphors to create
imagery and to get the tone and the theme of the poem across to the reader. Angelou
uses figurative language to convey the message of resilience and succeeding even
through hatred.
While many types of figurative language are used in Still I Rise, similes are the
most common and they go a long way to help convey the theme of the poem by
creating tone. In the second stanza, after asking the audience if they are upset by
her sassiness, Angelou writes, Cause I walk like I ve got oil wells/Pumping in my
living room (7 8). The simile like I ve got oil wells/Pumping in my living room is
comparing the attitude of the speaker to to the attitude of someone who is rich
with personal oil wells. The speaker is saying that she walks as if she s rich, as if she
could own the whole world. This gives the speaker a confident and
Marketing Discourse Of South Korea Essay
Ever since the economic boom that South Korea faced due to globalization in the
1990 s, South Korea has been working on becoming a country on par with other
global powers such as Canada and Australia (John, 2015). South Korea has paid a
particular focus since the early 2000 s on exporting culture to the rest of the world
through what is known as the Korean Wave , and South Korean beauty is no
exception to this trend (John, 2015). South Korean beauty has grown its own niche
market in America where people can purchase products either from popular online
distributors such as MEMEBOX, WishTrend, and YesStyle, or from select American
outlets such as Sephora, Urban Outfitters, and Forever21. Beauty from South Korea
has also gained an online presence as popular online beauty gurus test interesting
products from South Korea, and some beauty gurus even have a focus on South
Korean beauty products and trends. My discourse community is the marketing
discourse community within the business sphere, and it focuses on ways to sell
products to customers and make them aware of products that they might like with
hopes of increasing the profit margins of companies. Companies tend to employ
multiple types of marketing, including traditional and word of mouth marketing, but I
have focused my research more on the side of traditional marketing. Traditional
marketing includes magazine and newspaper advertisements, television

one of my goals last year and I achieved it by working really hard in class. I tried
my hardest to focus in class, pay attention to all directions and complete all of my

home as he followed her to her house and cutting her phone line before he broke
into her house (Vigliotti, 2015). He parked his car a few blocks away and
confirmed she wasn t home. Nancy Fox confronted Dennis Rader and remained
remarkably calm when she saw him and let him touch her. He threw her in bed and
strangled her. After that he let the police know about her murderby calling them and
misspelled the word homicide with home a side along with her address and name.
He was also known to be a mentally deficient person. He had a very low IQ and
failed all his classes in high school (Vigliotti, 2015). Ironically speaking, Dennis
Rader besides of being a serial killer, was the President of the congregation at his
Lutheran Church. He sent a floppy disk to his pastor, Michael Clark who later
inserted it into his computer and showed a lot of evidence recorded that Dennis
Rader was indeed the BTK killer that was behind those murders. The pastor was then
stunned and told the rest of the congregation of Dennis Rader. Mr. Rader also sent
another disk to the police giving them hints about the murder (Vigliotti,
Gentrification And Homelessness Essay
Those who cannot afford the high prices of housing are often forced out into the
streets where they face a very uncertain future due to the number of abuses they
encounter daily from all walks of life, with the most damning being the vagrancy
laws that come into vogue in areas that are getting gentrified, which many cities
have passed to protect their newfound assets and tax base from the lowering of
property values. Furthermore, when cities such as Los Angeles demand that property
developers set aside affordable housing for lower income people, they get sued in
court, such as in 2009, when real estatedeveloper Geoffrey Palmer successfully sued
in order to overturned an ordnance which required that. This was also the same man
who also proposed building a footbridge connecting two of his buildings to minimize
contact with people he deemed undesirable (Davis).... Show more content on

One other glaring example of the injustice committed by gentrification is the attack
on localized social life, which in itself is a manifestation of the many wrongs
perpetuated by this so called painless process, because before gentrification many of
these areas were able to create and foster this sense of communal solidarity, which
afforded and allowed them to build generational relationships, which placed an
emphasis on creating a real sense of community pride. Therefore, many of the local
residents took to the heart in looking out for what was best for their neighbors, thus
there was not this sense of entitlement exhibited in residents, but a real sense of pride
in knowing that they themselves were able to create something uniquely their own
Electron Energy Levels
Atomic Emission Spectra and Electron Energy Levels The electromagnetic spectrum
is the entirety of the wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation, extending from high
energy gamma rays to the low energy radio waves, and in the middle lies visible
light. Visible light of course being the light that the human eye can see. When white
lightis run through a prism, it becomes broken up into different light spectrums, but
visible light can also be emitted from different elements such as when you burn them.
By applying heat, the electrons of an element become excited and they rise to a
higher energy orbital and when the electrons fall back into a ground state,
electromagnetic radiation or light is emitted. These frequencies of light that can be
emitted by an atomis called the atomic emission spectra. Atoms are the simplest
whole unit of matter and consist of a positively charged nucleus that is surrounded by
negatively charged electrons. The electrons of an... Show more content on

Different wavelengths will be emitted as an electron returns to ground state based on
its transition. The higher energy the electron falls from the higher energy the
wavelength will be. This as stated is known as the atomic emission spectra, and
each atomic emission spectra is unique to the specific element and acts as a sort of
fingerprint. A spectrum categorizes wavelengths based upon the respective energy
;levels. The highest energy or shorter wavelengths are on the left while the right
holds the lowest energy or longest wavelengths. Based on this, the energy difference
of an electrons fall from excited to ground is what determines the wavelength of
light. A fall from the outermost shell to the innermost would result in an emission of
high energy wavelength such as gamma or uv rays, while a relatively low fall will
result in low energy wavelengths such as radio waves. The emission spectra helps

The Civil Of Chinese Immigrants On The Transcontinental...
Migrating to America in search of new opportunities, sadly, the Chinese were referred
to as Chinks and coolies. Throughout history, Americans have been in debt to
immigrant groups, like the Chinese, who were the only ones willing to do the most
dangerous and underpaid work. Yet, Americans have been the most hostile towards
the Chinese the only racial group ever to face an Exclusion Act. During the 19th
century, 80,000 Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States during the Gold
Rush, but they found no gold only nativists who did not want them there. So, instead
of mining, many Chinese settled for odd jobs and labored on the Transcontinental
Railroad, a previously unparalleled project to connect the American West Coast with
the American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Charles Crocker, one of the Big Four investors of the railroad, became
so desperate for labor that he convinced Strobridge to try and hire the Chinese:
They built the Great Wall. They can do it (Elish). Finally, in 1863, the Chinese,
who were believed to be inferior to whites, were given the opportunity to work on
the Transcontinental Railroad. In the end, hiring the Chinese was a very wise
decision because they were the cheapest and they worked the hardest. Despite
many Chinese being under five feet and only weighing 120 pounds, the Chinese
impressed Crocker: They couldn t dig as much dirt with a single swing, but they
worked methodically without talking or taking breaks...by the end of day one, [the
Chinese] had covered as much distance as the all white groups and the job was
done more carefully (Elish). Charles Crocker was recorded as saying that,
Wherever we put [the Chinese], we found them good, as well as, ...they worked
themselves into our favor to such an extent that if we found we were in a hurry for
a job of work, it was better to put Chinese on at once (American Experience: TV s
Most Watched History Series). In other words, the Chinese proved themselves to be
the most punctual and willing and diligent group. In American History: The
Transcontinental Railroad, it is explained that the Chinese had the best habits. They
always drank hot tea, which killed off
Hurricane Katrin Disaster Response And Recovery System
Hurricane Katrina has been noted as one of the costliest and deadliest natural
disasters in US history. This paper will exam the city of New Orleans and the
preparation, response, and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. This catastrophic event
shaped the US disaster response and recovery system.
The city of New Orleans is the most populated city in state of Louisiana. Due to the
geographical location, the city was at a significant risk for flooding. New Orleans
was originally settled on the natural levees, along the Mississippi River. The Flood
Control Act of 1965, authorized the United States Army Corps of Engineers to design
and construct numerous flood control projects including the Lake Pontchartrain and
Vicinity, Louisiana Hurricane Protection Project in the New Orleans region of south
Louisiana ([PUBLIC LAW 89 298 OCT. 27, 19). Following the implementation of the
act, the US Army Corps of Engineers built floodwalls and man made levees to
provide security against flooding. In the subsequent aftermath of Katrina, studies
have shown that the levees were improperly built and flood water levels estimates
were inaccurate during the initial planning phases and development. As a result, when
Hurricane Katrina made landfall on August, 29 2005 the storm caused a breach in
the levees which resulted in 80% of the city flooding. Over 20 feet of water covered
certain parts of the city and New Orleans was declared a disaster area that required
extensive recovery operations. operations.
My Time Playing Grand Theft Aut
As of now I have put in somewhere around 30 days of gameplay time into Grand
Theft Auto 5 and am 29% away from completing everything thing in there is to do
in the story mode. I ve played a lot of different types of games throughout my
gaming career and this is one that is definitely in my top 3 of all time. This is a game
that I really don t myself stop playing anytime soon as they keep releasing more
downloadable content to go along with the already large amount of replayability.
Grand Theft Auto 5 had a lot of hype surrounding its release and I would say that it
did indeed live up to the what was expected of it.Grand Theft Auto 5 is a big game
in a lot of ways, which starts with a 7.5 gigabyte install before you can before you
can do anything. Putting that aside the world is a huge place that Rockstar Gameshas
used to express an ambitious story that always made me want to playjust one more
mission . It is a stunning game with amazing graphics that can and does thing most
people would think to be impossible to do on our current generation of hardware.
The story mode in GTA 5 centers around three main characters. Michael, a retired
criminal living a life of idle luxury with his dysfunctional family in the higher class
region of Los Santos, Franklin a gang banger that grew up in the streets of Los
Santos that is desperate to escape the minimal revenue of petty hustling and gang
life, and Trevor an old friend of michaels that is a meth dealer, someone that is

Introspection In The Mister By Walter Dean Myers
Argument Essay Every year, consistently, teenagers attending a new school face
genuine difficulties. They usually face personal issues, social issues, and judicial
issues. For instance, they may experience difficulty understanding who they are and
their potential purpose in society, making and maintaining relationships, and staying
out of trouble. These sorts of issues don t go away, and require teenagers to fail or
learn the hard way , before they can identify the issues themselves. A novelthat I read
that delivered a powerful message and contributing to making me the person that I
am today; is the novel MONSTER by Walter Dean Myers, published in 1999. It is
important for teenagers attending a new school (high schoolor college) to read... Show

Their impact starts at an early age and increases through the adolescent years. It is
common, solid and essential for teenagers to have and depend on companions as
they grow and develop. Friends can be positive influences and supportive. They
can offer one another some assistance with developing new aptitudes, or empower
enthusiasm for a variety of activities such as homework, projects, sports, etc. Then
again, having friends can have a negative impact. They can urge one another to cut
class, experiment with drugs and alcohol, or get to be include in other hazardous
practices. A great of students begin to abuse drugs and alcohol as a result of peer
pressure. Teenagers usually fall under peer pressure because they want to fit in.
They need to be enjoyed and they stress that they may be forgotten or ridiculed on
the off chance that they don t oblige the gathering. Peer pressure is conveyed to be
important in how Steve partners with his friends he s mindful are not as much as
exquisite people, but then whom he is willing to be around. There is a feeling that he
needs to demonstrate his masculinity somehow by hanging with the intense folks
regardless of the way that they can bring disaster downward on him. This important
to teenagers attending a new school because they tend to meet a variety of different
people. Teenagers in our generation are so concerned about making friends and

Essay About Leadership Qualities.pdf

  • 1. Essay About Leadership Qualities Crafting an essay on the subject of leadership qualities presents a unique set of challenges. First and foremost, one must navigate the expansive landscape of leadership itself, a concept with multifaceted dimensions that span across various fields and disciplines. Identifying the key qualities that define a successful leader requires a comprehensive understanding of leadership theories, ranging from trait-based models to situational and transformational approaches. Furthermore, the challenge lies in striking a balance between theoretical concepts and practical examples. It's not sufficient to merely enumerate a list of leadership traits; the essay should delve into real-world scenarios and exemplify how these qualities manifest in effective leaders. This demands meticulous research and a keen eye for selecting relevant case studies that showcase leadership in action. Moreover, addressing the diverse perspectives on leadership is no easy feat. Scholars and experts often differ in their views on what constitutes effective leadership, and reconciling these varied opinions adds complexity to the writing process. Navigating through the plethora of literature and integrating conflicting viewpoints requires a discerning approach to provide a nuanced and well-rounded analysis. Developing a coherent and compelling argument is another layer of difficulty. Connecting the dots between different leadership qualities, illustrating their interplay, and demonstrating how they contribute to successful leadership demands a strategic and logical approach. • 2. Functionalist View Of The Law Making Process Sociologists have many perspectives when it comes to the examination of our laws. Three out of many theories of lawmaking processes are the Rationalistic model, Functionalistic view, and Conflict perspective. Rationalistic models view laws as a rational way of increasing protection for members of society from crimes which are socially injurious (Vago 2012). Functionalist view look at where the ideas behind the laws come from and describes laws as re institutionalized customs , where lawmaking is a reiteration of customs (Vago 2012). Conflict perspective describe laws as value the opinions of the elite, instill unequal access to economic goods which upkeep the social economical groups, basically keeps the elite on top (Vago 2012). The three theories are all similar but different at the same time. In my opinion, conflict theories captures the reality of law making process. The Functionalist view of making laws deal mainly with how laws come about. They are primarily created to restate the customs or rules and norms that make society function normally (Vago 2012). This theory makes laws seem more democratically decided because the people (at least the majority) within the society deem what the customs are. The idea behind this theory is that society is comprised of mainly harmonious social groupsthat ensure harmony through common belief. Basic values are not the culprit in dysfunctionality, such as conflict, and even though these conflicts exist, it doesn t reflect the

It takes into consideration factors including the environment, society and governance when evaluating a company s performance and strategizing on a future course of action. One of the most recent and promising developments in Integrated Reporting has been the release of the Integrated International Reporting Framework by the International Integrated Reporting Council. This paper assesses the opportunities, benefits, challenges and limitations of this framework. Introduction The Integrated International Reporting Framework was introduced by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) to guide the entire integrated reporting process and also to clearly define key ideas and concepts of this framework. Given some of the confusion surrounding this framework among companies and accountants in New Zealand with respect to what precisely the Integrated IR Framework is and how it might affect accounting practice, this essay purports to clearly explain the framework. Further, this paper will also critically examine the framework, highlighting some of the salient opportunities, benefits, challenges and limitations of this approach. Finally, it will briefly reflect upon the implication of the framework for accounting practice. • 7. Types Of Dwellings Used By Ancient Romans Introduction Up to that time, the western world had never seen an empire as extensive and encompassing as the Roman Empire (Mark, 2011). Even after her fall tales of her exploits continue to be told and retold. However, the Roman Empire was not merely comprised of emperors, generals and poets. Like all civilizations that came before it and that have come since, the domain of Rome comprised of many different people from varying social classes who lived in homes just like people today. For this unit s discussion, I will discuss the layout and function of the various types of dwellings used by the ancient Romans and provide my thoughts regarding how those comparisons compare to the dwellings of today. Discussion The type of dwelling occupied by an ancient Roman was contingent on their place on the social ladder and their vocation (Kirby, 2001b). Furthermore, whereas a farmer would prefer to live out in the country, a merchant, in all likelihood, would prefer to live in the city (Kirby, 2001b). Not unlike today, a substantial portion of the urban population lived in apartments (Kirby, 2001a). Most rentals were located in large complexes called Insula, some of which were as tall as seventy feet (seven stories) (Kirby, 2001a). These apartments would have been crowded usually composed of a single room that doubled as sleeping and living area (Moulton, 1998b). Tenets would have shared a common culinary and sanitary area while plumbing would not have reached those residing on

From the Celts and Visigoths that came from the north to the Africans and Arabs from the south to the Romans from the East, empires, kingdoms, and tribes all over the world have recognized and tried to take advantage of the benefits of Spain. War, conquest, and reconquest are frequent throughout the entire history of Spain, and the history of Moorsin Spain is no exception. It began in the year 711 when the Moors first crossed over to the Iberian Peninsula, until their expulsion from Granada in 1492 which marks the end of the Reconquista, they influenced the native Iberians in many ways including culture and religion. Those who converted to Islam, however, paid lesser taxes and had more privileges. Around 718, Pelagius, a Visigoth nobleman, established an independent Christian state in opposition to the Moorish dominance in Spain. Due to his opposition of Muslim control, Pelagius and a group of 30 some men were exiled and lived in a cave, refusing to pay taxes and harassing the Moors. Between 718 and 722, Pelagius and his small band of warriors fought and triumphed against the Moors at the Battle of Covodonga. This is considered the beginning of the Spanish Reconquista. The Reconquista was a period of around 774 years where the Christian kings reclaimed the Iberian Peninsula from the Islamic Moors. The Reconquista was not carried out by the Spanish alone, however. King Charlemagne of France reclaimed the western Pyrenees and formed the Marca Hispanica to defend the border between the Frankish Kingdom and the Muslims. Christians from all over Europe traveled to the Iberian Peninsula to participate in the reclaiming of Spain in the name of God. The Reconquista was not all war and conquest, but also the re population of Christians on the peninsula. As the Berbers abandoned towns and fortresses, the Christian kings took their people and re inhabited those areas. In some places, Christian peasants, monks, and nobles were granted lands by their king or lord to
  • 9. Criticism Of Andrew Clark An American Politician From The... I am sure you would agree with me when I say we cannot escape the inevitability (in ev i ta bility) of criticism. Aristotle once said, Criticism is something we can avoid easily by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing. But I beg to disagree because people will criticize you for saying nothing, doing nothing and being nothing. Someone once said, Criticism is the muck in which the plants of the Lord grow strong and no child of God should fear Criticism. Criticism has the potential to help believers in their spiritual growth? Listen to what Frank Clark an American politician from the early 1900s said, Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a man s growth without destroying his roots. Criticism comes in two forms, destructive and constructive. They are both self explanatory. Nevertheless, destructive criticism has the potential for spiritual growth but that would depend on the receiver. Destructive criticism can make us look inwardly ask the deep question, is it true of me. If the criticism levied is true, then do what needs to be done to correct it. If the criticism is malicious then ignore it and make sure you do not give your critics ammunition to prove their point. I would admit that criticism is not always easy to handle. People can be crude but always remember we are not responsible for the actions of others. We will only answer to God for our actions. The gospel is bigger than our feelings and has serious implications for mankind. So

  • 11. Infant Trauma There are many types of trauma that people experience everyday in our world. People can do awful things to each other, including violence, abuse, and neglect. Accidents happen that leave us feeling distressed. Some threaten our sense of safety and connection. These are all experiences that take time to heal and recover from. We must find a way to reconcile the life we had before it happened and the life as we know it after a tragic event. The pain of the memories alone can be devastating. It takes time and support to find a sense of self again, to feel safe in the world again. But what if the trauma happened before life ever really began? Is there any lasting effect on a person that was merely an infantwhen the trauma was experienced?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The other form of memory is declarative memory (also known as explicit or late memory). It stores sequential and contextual events, as well as factual knowledge that can be articulated (Paley Alpert, 2003). Procedural memories are also described and indelible and are, therefore, engraved in your brain and body for life. Other types of memories that are described in more detail and are classified as non verbal are categorized as behavioral memory, somatic somatosensory memory, and visual memory. Behavioral memories can be seen in play therapy where the child will actually be able to act out their experiences with dolls. Somatic somatosensory memory presentation is particularly relevant to traumatized newborns or very young infants, who may perceive trauma predominantly as concrete sensory perceptions (Paley Alpert, 2003). All of this research tells me that we need to broaden out ways of thinking of memory. It is not simply a process in which, if you can tell me what happened, then you remember it, if you can t, then you simply have no memory of the event. As we have discussed in class and in Discussion Board, your body remembers. It makes sense that we can extend this concept to pre memory infancy or childhood. To consider the impact these traumatic events can have on a person s life, we must investigate how they can change development. Paley and Alpert

The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Worker Policies Around the 1910s, America was in a time of industrialization where there was the development of factory system and mass production, and the increasing growth rate population. While this transformation may have provided many benefits to Americans, it also carried negative results. For instance, The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, located in Manhattan, New York City , managed by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris, sold shirtwaists, an immensely popular necessity that every women desired to have in their closet. Since Blanck and Harris were known for operating the largest firm in business, they were notorious for taking advantage of the enormous amount of immigrants entering New York during the early twentieth century, and hiring them in a sweatshopthat consisted of poor ventilation, overcrowded working environment, and dangerous machinery. • 14. Geography Of The Indus River Barrett, EmilyPeriod 6 4/30/15 Geography The Indus River is located on the northwestern part of the sub continent with other rivers draining into it. Another river called the Ganges River was east of the Indus River. The climate was tropical and contained seasonal winds called monsoons. Monsoons during the winter were dry and went from land to the sea, letting little rain fall on the land. During summer monsoons wet winds go from ocean to land bringing rain with it. The mountain ranges, the Himalayas and Hindu Kush, were located near the north. The first civilization in the sub continent grew around the Indus River; later another civilization grew around the Ganges River. The rivers would flood and this leaves behind rich soils which makes plentiful crops that fed the civilization. Agriculture depends on the summer monsoon. If rain comes, there are no problems, but if it comes late or not at all crops die and people starve. Since they could not always depend on the monsoons they made irrigation channels that led to their crops. The Himalayas and Hindu Kush separated the sub continent from the rest of Asia. This piece of clothing was long and could be worn in different ways. Rich women wore saris made of silk. Men wore a long piece of clothing called a dhoti. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The colour used is important to the artwork because together they create a place of tranquillity meeting on coming havoc. The lines that are used do not outline individual objects in the painting but define the shapes of each. They show the direction that the artist took when painting this particular art piece. They are delicate and sensitive lines in the sense that they are not always visible but they still define the object. The painting has been painted to a deep 2D form. This form creates an illusion of a large amount of space. As if to create the illusion that you were looking out past the village towards the horizon. This was important so to capture the full effect of havoc reaching the harmony. The shape of the artwork is soft and flowing into each section. By using this format the artist has created a piece of volume and depth. Interpretation A peaceful village in a sense of harmony with an on coming storm, darkness and gloom. The black birds are flying out of the impending doom to shelter. My interpretation of what is happening is the village is peaceful sort of like the soul and then the storm comes and suddenly everything is in havoc. As if the painter had some form of inner turmoil when painting.

Excerpts From Being And Time By Martin Dasein Analysis An Outline Summary: Excerpts from Being and Time (1927) (Dasein s Possibility of Being a Whole, and Being towards Death) Martin Heidegger Martin Heidegger started his argument by saying that once the Dasein reaches its death, it then loses its state of being there and is now transitioning to a no longer dasein state and will take it as an experience. However, death of the Other, as he said, is rather impressive and the termination of Dasein, in turn, will be Objectively accessible therefore making bounds of the Dasein s totality. Even with the Other s death, in its no longer Dasein state and Being no longer in the world, it is still considered as a Being just in the Being just present at hand and no more of a bodily thing that we will encounter. The coming of an end of an entity qua Dasein is the coming forth of beginning of the same entity qua something present at hand. The changing over of Dasein to that of the Being just present at hand and no more doesn t necessarily imply that we are not presented with such mere corporeal Thing. Even if reaching the peak of death, a dead corpse can be of use to someone who is seeking for the meaning or idea of life. The Enigma was a electro magnetic ciphering machine and it was used by the German military as a way of communicating securely. As time went on, the Enigma was updated, and made more secure. It was used throughout World War II until the end of the war, though the Germans didn t realize that the Enigma had been cracked by the British. Arthur Scherbius first released the Enigma for commercial sale in 1923, barely anyone showed any interest in the cipher machine. The first two models were heavy and they weren t easy to use. He released two other models a few years later, which were lighter, and were not as hard to use. He started getting inquiries about his machine from different governments. The German military eventually took on his creation in the late 1920 s. Around 100,000 Enigma machines were sold. This is how the Enigma worked: The user would type in what they wanted to encrypt and there would be a light that popped up after each letter was typed showing the substitution letter chosen by the settings of the cipher and then they would record the letters given to them and then they would send the message. For each company, the revenue will increase at the average rate for the past two years. The dynamics for each company have changed significantly in the past two years, as each in that time span has grown from being a relatively small player in mobile to being the two world leaders. Apple in particular has only had the iPad for a couple of years, so prior growth rates are not applicable. For Google, the short time frame reflects what should be maturity in the online advertising market, resulting in growth rates that are slower than the company has enjoyed on average in the past 10 years. The expense categories are going to be assumed as equal to their average of the past three years, which allows for the expenses to be understood in terms of the mobile era for each of these companies. No unusual expenses are expected; they are unusual in nature therefore are probably not going to be budgeted. Taxation will be budgeted at the average rate for the past three years. It is also assumed that there is no low, average and high estimates for revenues. As software companies, employees are the most significant operating cost other than COGS. These companies can adjust hiring easily should revenues lag, hiring can be adjusted within a month or quarter. The Iberian lynx is believed to be a descendent of the Issoire Lynx (Lynx issiodorensis), along with the other members of the lynx family (bobcat, Canada Lynx, and Eurasian Lynx). Until recently, the Iberian lynxwas thought to be a sub species of the Eurasian Lynx, it is now classified as a separate species. Range Iberian Lynx were originally found all throughout Spain, Portugal and parts of Southern France. They inhabit dense scrubby areas mixed with open fields. These habitats were once prevalent throughout the Spanish countryside, but now are disappearing. The area that the Iberian Lynx is able to successfully occupy has been drastically reduced by human development resulting in habitat destruction. Today, Iberian lynx are only found natural in two areas of southern Spain. The highest concentrations are found Sierra Morena. The other wild population is found in Donana National park. They do not have enough space to provide for their food needs. Population At one time the Iberian Lynx was abundant throughout the Iberian Peninsula. With the decline of its habitat the Iberian Lynx population began to plummet. This decline in population was very rapid. The loss of habitat restricted food sources and separated populations, which caused the Lynx to disappear at an alarming rate. In The 1960s there was estimated to be 3000 Iberian

Poetry Analysis Of Maya Angelou s Still I Rise Poetry Analysis of Maya Angelou s Still I Rise Maya Angelou s poem Still I Rise was published in 1978 at one of the most productive and successful periods of Angelou s career. Still I Rise tells about bouncing back and rising up past oppression and hate. The speaker in Angelou s poem talks to a direct audience, asking them questions, announcing to them that no matter what they do, she will always rise back up. The poem is broken up into quatrains, although the last two stanzas use the repetition of the phrase I rise between the complete lines. The author uses figurative language in every stanza of her poem and uses similes and metaphors to create imagery and to get the tone and the theme of the poem across to the reader. Angelou uses figurative language to convey the message of resilience and succeeding even through hatred. While many types of figurative language are used in Still I Rise, similes are the most common and they go a long way to help convey the theme of the poem by creating tone. In the second stanza, after asking the audience if they are upset by her sassiness, Angelou writes, Cause I walk like I ve got oil wells/Pumping in my living room (7 8). The simile like I ve got oil wells/Pumping in my living room is comparing the attitude of the speaker to to the attitude of someone who is rich with personal oil wells. The speaker is saying that she walks as if she s rich, as if she could own the whole world. This gives the speaker a confident and

Furthermore, when cities such as Los Angeles demand that property developers set aside affordable housing for lower income people, they get sued in court, such as in 2009, when real estatedeveloper Geoffrey Palmer successfully sued in order to overturned an ordnance which required that. This was also the same man who also proposed building a footbridge connecting two of his buildings to minimize contact with people he deemed undesirable (Davis).... One other glaring example of the injustice committed by gentrification is the attack on localized social life, which in itself is a manifestation of the many wrongs perpetuated by this so called painless process, because before gentrification many of these areas were able to create and foster this sense of communal solidarity, which afforded and allowed them to build generational relationships, which placed an emphasis on creating a real sense of community pride. Therefore, many of the local residents took to the heart in looking out for what was best for their neighbors, thus there was not this sense of entitlement exhibited in residents, but a real sense of pride in knowing that they themselves were able to create something uniquely their own

Yet, Americans have been the most hostile towards the Chinese the only racial group ever to face an Exclusion Act. During the 19th century, 80,000 Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States during the Gold Rush, but they found no gold only nativists who did not want them there. However, Charles Crocker, one of the Big Four investors of the railroad, became so desperate for labor that he convinced Strobridge to try and hire the Chinese: They built the Great Wall. They can do it (Elish). Finally, in 1863, the Chinese, who were believed to be inferior to whites, were given the opportunity to work on the Transcontinental Railroad. In the end, hiring the Chinese was a very wise decision because they were the cheapest and they worked the hardest. Despite many Chinese being under five feet and only weighing 120 pounds, the Chinese impressed Crocker: They couldn t dig as much dirt with a single swing, but they worked methodically without talking or taking breaks...by the end of day one, [the Chinese] had covered as much distance as the all white groups and the job was done more carefully (Elish). Charles Crocker was recorded as saying that, Wherever we put [the Chinese], we found them good, as well as, ...they worked themselves into our favor to such an extent that if we found we were in a hurry for a job of work, it was better to put Chinese on at once (American Experience: TV s Most Watched History Series). • 47. Hurricane Katrin Disaster Response And Recovery System Hurricane Katrina has been noted as one of the costliest and deadliest natural disasters in US history. This paper will exam the city of New Orleans and the preparation, response, and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. This catastrophic event shaped the US disaster response and recovery system. The city of New Orleans is the most populated city in state of Louisiana. Due to the geographical location, the city was at a significant risk for flooding. New Orleans was originally settled on the natural levees, along the Mississippi River. The Flood Control Act of 1965, authorized the United States Army Corps of Engineers to design and construct numerous flood control projects including the Lake Pontchartrain and Vicinity, Louisiana Hurricane Protection Project in the New Orleans region of south Louisiana ([PUBLIC LAW 89 298 OCT. 27, 19). Following the implementation of the act, the US Army Corps of Engineers built floodwalls and man made levees to provide security against flooding. In the subsequent aftermath of Katrina, studies have shown that the levees were improperly built and flood water levels estimates were inaccurate during the initial planning phases and development. As a result, when Hurricane Katrina made landfall on August, 29 2005 the storm caused a breach in the levees which resulted in 80% of the city flooding. Over 20 feet of water covered certain parts of the city and New Orleans was declared a disaster area that required extensive recovery operations. operations.
