Richard Cory Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Richard Cory" can pose several challenges, as the topic
delves into the complexities of the narrative and requires a nuanced analysis. To begin with, one
must thoroughly grasp the poem's content, understanding the layers of meaning embedded in
each stanza. Richard Cory's character is enigmatic, leaving room for various interpretations, and
capturing this complexity in a coherent essay demands a keen understanding of literary devices
and poetic techniques.
Another aspect of difficulty arises in the need to explore the socio-economic context reflected in
the poem. The stark contrast between Cory's external success and his internal turmoil prompts an
exploration of societal expectations, wealth, and the façade of happiness. Unraveling these
themes requires meticulous research and a deep dive into the socio-cultural milieu of the time,
adding to the complexity of the essay.
Moreover, constructing a compelling argument demands the skill to weave together textual
evidence and critical analysis seamlessly. The challenge lies in articulating one's thoughts with
clarity while maintaining a sophisticated discourse. Balancing personal interpretations with
established literary theories further complicates the task, demanding a nuanced understanding of
literary criticism.
Lastly, synthesizing all these elements into a coherent and engaging essay structure poses its own
set of challenges. Creating a captivating introduction, developing a strong thesis statement, and
seamlessly transitioning between paragraphs to build a logical flow requires both creativity and
analytical prowess.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Richard Cory" demands a blend of literary
acumen, historical insight, and analytical skill. Navigating through the intricacies of the poem
while maintaining a cohesive and insightful narrative is undoubtedly a formidable task. However,

Methane Hydrates. Everyone Who Does Not Live Under A
Rock
Methane Hydrates
Everyone who does not live under a rock enjoys their heating and energy supply that
charges their computers and keeps them toasty in the winter. Nearly one hundred
percent of the time, an individual using such resources will neglect to take note of
where they come from. Many a time this energy comes from natural gas (methane
hydrates), which have special properties like all chemicals that can make them bad
for the environment, and lead to consequences for the future. Since America
industrialized, most of our energy reserves comes from nonrenewable, carbon based
resources. Currently, The United States uses approximately 26.6 trillion cubic feet of
natural gas (How). The main component of natural gas is of course methane ... Show

However, if you do get the methane out into a usable form, a person could use it to
heat their house by combusting methane. When methane undergoes a reaction with
oxygen (burning), the covalent bonds around the central carbon atom break,
transforming into heat energy. In the process though carbon also bonds with oxygen
gas creating carbon dioxide (CO2). The leftover hydrogen atoms then bond with
more oxygen and form more water. This of course results in a gaseous form of
carbon dioxide and water. In the end the process is termed exothermic due to it
releasing heat into the surrounding area. The products of this reaction will go to
completion as shown below.
As the products leak out and are stuck in the atmosphere, the heat energy that water
takes with it is transferred to the carbon dioxide due to the second law of
thermodynamics, which states Entropy always increases (Tro). Due to this the
atmosphere increases in temperature due to the heat capacity of the carbon dioxide.
This is how global warming works. However, the heat taken in by water is quickly
lost from the atmosphere due to rainfall. On the side of the carbon dioxide not so
much. The water cycle that everyone learned in grade school can take a couple days
or more. Sadly enough, the carbon cycle can take one hundred to two hundred
million years to complete. Carbon dioxide created from methane can also be
absorbed by water. When
Feminist Analysis
Even though women make up approximately half of the United States population,
there were few opportunities for women to have female role models or perspectives
of history that focused on women until a little over a century ago, when World War I
and the First Wave of Feminism changed the role women played in society forever.
However, it is remarkable to examine how women had and been continuously pushed
to the back of the conversation, even as feminismbecame a nationally recognised
issue. Even now, our nation s history is told in an androcentric fashion; even if gender
inequality throughout our nation s history has shaped many social structures today,
there is a lack of recognition of the importance of women. On top of that, such an

According to an online record of feminist and gender archaeology, this split was
solidified in a 1984 paper by Margaret Conkey and Janet Spector titled Archaeology
and the Study of Gender, which criticised how archaeologists glazed over past
gender constructs and how they often approached gender inequality with a
structuralist point of view, a way of saying that these inequalities were seen as
natural. In particular, gender roles in the context of a political economy were
criticised, as male figures in the forefront of archaeology expected women to do
the indoor work such as labwork and organisation. Feminist archaeology became a
discipline for both the past and the present. During the rise of this subfield, gender
archaeology was considered very similar to feminist archaeology to the point where
they were categorised as the same perspective by many. However, as more gender
archaeologists began focusing on the historical construction of gender, a mid 90s
break between the sub disciplines occurred; feminist archaeology was simply too
focused on the image of a traditional, cisgender woman in a world of binary gender
constructs. Over the past twenty years, gender archaeology has become an
incredibly influential subfield of archaeology, and since feminist archaeology is
slowly changing to become more inclusive, the two subfields have many close ties
again, especially when it comes to queer archaeology. In summary of their focuses,
they seek to research how inequality based on gender is constructed in a society,
how it is perpetuated, and, to avoid bias: to recognise that these subfields are
reflective of specific sociopolitical beliefs and agendas
Sequential Art Rhetorical Analysis
Rhetoric in Sequential Art When the word sequential art comes to mind, many
people would automatically assume some elaborate work of art that belongs in an
art museum, but at a baseline sequential art can be your average comic book or
comic strip. This isn t to say that they shouldn t be in an art museum because the
work displayed in them is phenomenal and in some ways, can surpass your
stereotypical piece of art, but most people consider them childish, a waste of time, or
something that could never be taken seriously. In reality comics and other forms of
sequential art do something that many pieces of art cannot do. They can combine the
beauty or simplicity behind art, with a phenomenal storyline that everyone can
understand. What is even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When thinking about a novel, one of the most commonly used rhetorical tools
used is imagery. When a scene is important for the sake of the plot or important to
the author, the author works hard to bring the reader into the world that they see
the action happening in. The same can be said of the presentation of a certain
sequence within a piece of sequential art. Whereas a square can be seen as an
ordinary frame for a comic, when the art is put into any other shape, it now stands
out as important to the reader and they are more inclined to noticed more detail
within the scene or frame. The same effect applies within the Narmer Palette and
its presentation on the stone tablet that it is carved on. The main parts of the story
are in giant panels, framed in a large rectangle and surrounded by the Egyptian
goddess Bat, a cow goddess who was prevalent in the Old and Middle Kingdoms of
Egypt. The goddess was told to have two faces, one able to see to the past and the
other to see towards the future, hence why the face of a cow appears twice on each
panel of significance. For many who were to look upon the palette it would be a
sign of a blessing, significance, and greatness. This particular style of detail can be
considered a rhetorical device because of its purpose towards the main theme of the

Introduction
At the Introduction to PD workshop I identified two broad reasons why I decided
to pursue my MBA. The first was to develop my competence as a manager. The
second and more important reason was to advance my career by making myself
more marketable. The job market today is undoubtedly very competitive and I
realised that a first degree was not sufficient if I wanted to climb the corporate ladder
. It is hoped that this MBA would help me to take advantage of any future
opportunities when they become available. My personal development journey thus far

From completing the questionnaire I think my core skills of team working and
communication need moderate development. The team roles that best describe me
are: Monitor Evaluator, Team worker and Completer/Finisher (Belbin 1993). If I
know myself as well as I think I do, I think these roles are more in line with my
personality. At work I get involved in various projects and 4
I am a great team player. I am always willing to lend support and I generally get
along well with other colleagues. I feel confident that I can display this level of
commitment to the team assignments during the second stage of the MBA
program. My coaching and facilitation skills however are in need of serious
development. Again I think my personality has a major part to play because I
always avoid roles that would entail me being in the spot light and I just prefer to
blend in. With this understanding of the roles that I am more likely to gravitate
towards and the ones I stay clear of, I have to wonder if avoiding the other roles
would negatively impact on my overall development. But I also question if this is
how group dynamics work since no one person can be perfect at everything. But I
definitely know that my shyness and lack of confidence is one of my biggest
weaknesses which could jeopardize my effectiveness as a leader or manager.

Essay on The Invention of the Telegraph and Morse Code
The telegraph was the first major advancement in communication technology. In
1838, Samuel Morse perfected and demonstrated the first telegraph machine. His
machine used Morse code to send electronic currents along a wire, allowing the first
high speed long distance communications. By the 1850s, the telegraph was
widespread. In 1861, Western Union installed the first trans continental line and by
1866, the first trans Atlantic line was completed. At this time, telegraphs were all
keyed by hand and transcribed from Morse code to English by ear. Fredrick Creed
invented a way to convert Morse code into text in what became known as the Creed

Phones continued to develop clearer signals and longer ranges. The first cell
phone, produced in 1947, was the car phone. However, it only worked when
driving on the highway between Boston and New York. In 1973, the first portable
phone call was placed, and by 1991 mobile phones were available to the public. By
2001, these newly developed cell phones overshadowed payphones and were an
integral part of American daily life.
Similar to the telegraph, the invention of the telephone made instant communication a
possibility. Far more effective than the telegraph, the phone allowed for the spread of
more information over a shorter period. Writing was no longer the only form of long
distance communication. Telephones encouraged the progress of city centers and
office buildings. The importance of messengers and telegraphs dwindled as the
telephone industry expanded. By the early 21st century, constant connection to the
entire planet through cell phones was an American standard.
Another technological innovation was the development of electronic mail, or email.
Technically speaking, the telegraph was the first electronic mail. The next
advancement of the electronic mail industry was the telex network, an advanced form
of the telegraph that is still used today. From the 1940s to the 1980s, businesses
widely utilized the telex network. In the 1960s and 1970s, many companies used
mainframe and mini computers with
Macro Sociological Perspectives
The conflict perspective views society less as a cohesive system and more as an
arena of conflict and power struggles. Compare and contrast the main tenets of the
functionalist and conflict perspectives. The conflict perspective views society less
as a cohesive system and more as an arena of conflict and power struggles . This
perspective was founded by sociologist Karl Marx (1818 1883) and serves to
introduce the concept that inequality and specifically inequality under capitalism
exists between two main classes in society namely the proletariat and the bourgeoisie.
The functionalist perspective another major sociological theory was founded by
Auguste Comte (1798 1857) and also includes contributions by Herbert Spencer...

The expected patterns of behaviour are imposed on the individual through the
socialisation process. According to Durkheim, Social facts are ways of acting,
thinking and feeling, existing outside the individual . Parsons believed that a social
system must fulfil four prerequisites in order for it to function. These are
Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration and Latency. Similarly, the conflict
perspective seeks to explain change in society. This concept, however, highlights a
Capitalist view, where two classes exist in society namely the Proletariat and the
Bourgeoisie. The founder of the conflict perspective, Karl Marx, believed that
social change can only be attained through conflict that will arise once the working
class or proletariat realised the state of false consciousness that they were subject to
by the bourgeoisie and developed a state of class consciousness which recognises
that all individuals within a society are equal. Thus, the inequalities that exist with
respect to the distribution of wealth, power and the resources will now be
eliminated since classes will no longer exist. Marx saw conflict relations as being
characterised by conflict in intergroup relations, borne out of the relationship
between the forces of production and the relations of production. Conflict between
these two processes in Marx s view, provided the catalyst for social
The Reform Of Miami Dade Transit
The reform Miami takes three primary factors into account before implementing any
kind of reform policy which are: planning, measuring, and monitoring. This practical
framework allows them to decipher how spending should be evaluated, how
performance should be measured, and how effectiveness should be monitored. There
are numerous reforms on a broad spectrum which Miami seeks to take action;
however, this paper will hone in specifically on transportation reform. Miami Dade
Transit holds the15th largest public transit system in the United States as well as
largest transit agency in the state of Florida. With a little over 2.6 million residents, it
is imperative to have an effective transportation system that all residing residents can

Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) handled the budget and created projects
without any specific overseer (Citizens Independent Transportation Trust, 2015, p.6).
The bureaucratic style committee mimicked the old public management where
discretion was a norm and professionals were not held accountable without any
performance measurements. In order to strengthen effectiveness, in 2010 a law

How Is Miranda A Dynamic Character
There are many characters in the book Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer,
that have changed Miranda the protagonist. Which make Miranda a dynamic
character. A dynamic character is a character that changes over the course of the
story. One character that has changed her is Dan. When they were at the pond they
decided to become a couple. Ever since that Miranda started sneaking out and didn

Dan and she got mad. If Miranda wouldn t ever had met Dan she probably wouldn t

having her focus on her family more than Dan s family, because if something
happened to them she didn t want Miranda to be sad because she didn t care for
her family as much as she cared for Dan. Miranda s mom thought that by
forbidding Miranda to see Dan that she made her a better person. If you really think

Techniques In Ache Lhamo
As the actors move along, their movements are set to the beat of percussion
instruments which compliment the steps and accentuate the underlying emotional
tenor. Steady beats may help emphasise on continuity, which is punctuated with a
clang of the cymbals when a distressed character makes an entry. The dance
movements include turns and step hops, done with one leg lifted and bent in front,
and flowing wrist movements. These steps and movements are similar to the farmer

However, actors do not draw from personal experiences of emotions. They detach
their personal experiences from those of the characters they are portraying. There is
no continuity between the actors emotional experiences and the characters emotional
experiences. The method used for the training of the characters of Lhamo could be
compared to the Stanislavsky s system that is a series of techniques used to train the
performers to create credible characterizations for their performances. A method
created by Constantin Stanislavsky (in Russia between 1934 and 1938) whose
foundation lay on the notion of emotional memory, for which the performer focuses
on the inside to portray a character s emotions onstage. Stanislavski believed that the
true happenings onstage were actually different from that of real life, but that a scenic
truth could be attained onstage. A performance should be such that the audience
believes in it so that it appears to them as the truth. To achieve this truthful pursuit of

Renaissance Unique Era
Should the Renaissance be Classified as a Unique Era or a Continuation of the
Middle Ages? Humanity has evolved from the uneducated minds of the people of
the Middle Ages due to a growth and learning, new ideas, and decrease of Church
power. Many artists and humanists of the renaissance, prided themselves on their
advanced intellect and innovative ideas, compared to generations before. However,
when this evolution began is a debatable topic. Historians split history into eras to
make long periods of time more tangible. These eras are often determined by the
beginning or end of major events. Analysts often differ on the importance of events
or when they occur, which is why opinions on eras differ from person to person.

Application Of Distributed Application Challenges
Distributed Application Challenges In the past applications were monolithic, and
built on a single stack such as .Net or Java and ran on a single server. There is no
way to get around building distributed software in today s market. Just think about the
software out there today. The market consist of many different variations of
architecture tier an application may have such as an UI tier, caching tier, application
tier, and persistence tier such as SQL or table logging. Multiple components may
spread across machines today. Software will have associated dependencies and these
component dependencies can be in conflict. One component might be dependent on a
certain DLL and another component for another one. Those two different versions...

If you have these two component on the same machine, you are not clear on what
kind of machine you will need because they will have very different scale
characteristics. It will be wasteful to have the same execution environments even
though they have different scale characteristics. Developers also deal with test and
production to move throughout the development life cycle. Since developers are
increasingly building distributed operating systems, the way to deal with
complexity is using the concepts of containers. Containers are a native OS
construct that provide light weight isolation. In Linux there is a concept that is
comprised of different sub concepts. There are namespaces that provide isolations
for user database, processes and IP addresses. Think of a container as hosted on
top of an Linux OS and it gets its own database, processes and IP addresses. It also
gets cgroups which governs resources. They make sure that not one container is
using all the resources but it shared all the way across. Each container gets a read
write view such a Union File system. These three make up the idea of a container. If
you build an application in the cloud, chances are it is a distributed application.
Distributed applications have a number of characteristics that need to be considered
carefully. Containers assist developers in making software portable. The software
looks the same everywhere you deploy and run it. Also developers will not need to

Even though the author provides a possible approach that can be used so both

think that it would be able to happen because both are so different. It is true that both
have several similarities in seeing how human right should be, however this
similarities have a different base or goals, which lead me to conclude that feminist
and cultural relativist is not a friend.
Feminist would protect the women no matter what happen, even though it means
that it could violate cultural value. Cultural relativist would be okay with harming a
female or woman as long as they would not violating cultural value. Then again, if
they start working together to reconstruct human rights, it will not be fair for
cultural relativist because the feminist defender is all over the world, they will
think it is okay to violating cultural law as long as women get their right. There is
not any which one is better than the other, it is just their idea is so different which
make me believe that there will not be any possibilities for these two to

What I learned in Statistics
Statistics is a mathematical and scientific process based on the analysis,
interpretation, collection, or explanation, and presentation of a data set. It is applied
to an enormous variety of academic disciplines, from the natural and social sciences
to the humanities, and to government and business. Data analysis is applied when
information needs to be converted into the raw data which is more purposeful
information. Statistics is mainly all about the data analysis of a set of data. Before
actually began working on data analysis in real world and on paper, it is important
that the basic knowledge is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descriptive statistics can assist in proper presentation of data such that it can be
comprehended and analyzed by the user. For example, if we had the data about the
labor budgets of 200 companies, then that data would make no sense as it would
be difficult to comprehend. But if that data is classified industry wise, and
arranged, an average is calculated for the industry and for the labor budgets, and
then the interpretation would be more feasible. In this example, descriptive
statistics is extremely helpful because of the simplicity of how the data
information needs to be shown. Following I will briefly explain the two most
common types of statistics used to break down and describe data. The two types
are measures of central tendencies and measures of dispersion. Measures of
central tendency are measures which are at the central position of the frequency
distribution and which are representative of the whole distribution. (Tanner, D. E.,
Youssef Morgan, C. M. , 2013) A part of the measures of central tendency is the
mean, mode and median of the data for which was describe. Measures of
dispersion are measures that show how far the actual values are from the measure
of central tendency. (Tanner, D. E., Youssef Morgan, C. M., 2013) For example, the
average labor budgets from all the 200 stores may be 21% of net sales but individual
labor will not exactly be 21% of net sales. Each store will run a different percentage
for labor.
The Cosmological Argument Analysis
The early idea of the cosmological argument was developed by two historic
philosophers named Plato and Aristotle. The idea of the cosmological argument was
to provide the proof of the existence of God. A philosopher named Saint Thomas
Aquinas then took this idea and developed it into what he calls his The Five Ways .
The five ways that Aquinas provided to prove that Godexisted is by the unmoved
mover, the first cause, the argument from contingency, and the argument from degree.
The first of the five ways that Aquinas proves that god exists is the idea of the
unmoved mover or prime mover . Aquinas believes that all things that are natural are
in motion and are finite. Since everything natural is in motion and finite then a first
mover must exist. If the first mover or the prime mover does not exist then there
would be no other mover and nothing natural would be in motion. The natural things
around us are not able to move by their own so the existence of the prime mover is
created. Aquinas believes God is the first mover of the universe, unmoved by no one
else, which makes God the unmoved mover. God set the universe in motion because
nothing moves itself; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aquinas s second reasoning is very similar to his idea of the unmoved mover and
they take place simultaneously. Aquinas believes that everything has a cause. He
does not believe in the idea of an infinite cause because that cause can be traced
back to the first cause which makes it finite. Since everything is finite then there
must be a first efficient cause for itself. Without a first cause there would be no later
causes which, therefore means, nothing at all would exist. It is impossible for the
first cause to have a cause. Aquinas believes that since the universe exists, then there
needs to be a first cause which began all causes, which is why God is the uncaused
causer of the

By United States, I mean our country. As a product of my generation, however, I
envision our country as being the leader of the free world though. So it follows
that I conclude it is also important to recognize that a leader must set the standard
by which they wish to lead. Therefore, if the United States fails, the free world
fails. Likewise, when any single piece of free world fails, then by extension, it can
be reasoned that the United States has failed in its leadership. When I say the
United States is ill prepared for cyberwarfare, I am not only speaking solely to attack
directly against our nation alone. I am also referring to our standing as leader of the
free world, which no doubt is weakened any time one piece of the free world is
weakened or vulnerable to threat exposure.
By using the term ill prepared, I aim to convey that the United States is not
equipped with enough protection to prevent every possible instance of the threat
of cyberwarfare from occurring. I propose we are not where our nation should be

With the advent of the Internet, Congress passed the Digital Millennium Copyright
Act (DMCA) in 1998 to address the obligations imposed by the World Intellectual
Property Organization (WIPO) Treaty. Owners of copyright were concerned that
their works would be pirated online, and the existing legal systems in place at the
time were insufficient to protect individuals and the industry as a whole. The DMCA
was passed in 1998 with the intention of stopping copyrightinfringers from
circumventing anti piracy protections that have been built into copyrighted works.
Specifically, the Section 1201(a)(1) prohibits the act of circumventing a technological
measure used by copyright owners to control access to their works. Although the
DMCA was intended to bolster intellectual property law, it has had a deleterious
impact to the industry in the aggregate. Such laws stifle innovation by preventing fair
use, hindering assistive technologies for people with disabilities, and encouraging
suspicious practices encoded in software that could cause public harm. Instead, laws
should be predicable, minimalist, consistent, and simple in the legal environment. To
find a more favorable balance, the DMCA needs to be revised to consider the,
potential impact of the device bans on the ability of users to make non infringing uses
of copyrighted works... and the potential harm of anti circumvention to competition
and innovation in the formation technology sector. 2 In this respect, the
Logos In The Importance Of Work By Betty Friedan
Rhetorical Analysis In her essay The Importance of Work, from The Feminine
Mystique published in 1963, Betty Friedan confronts American women s search for
identity. Throughout the novel, Betty Friedan broke new ground by seeking the idea
of women discovering personal fulfillment away from their original roles. She
ponders on the idea of the Feminine Mystiqueas the cause for the majority of women
during that time period to feel confined by their occupations around the house,
restricting them from discovering who they are as women. Friedan s novel is well
known for creating a different kind of feminism and rousing various women across
the nation.

Friedan uses repetition in numerous cases throughout her writing. A specific
example of repetition from the novel is, no longer needed, no longer used (7). This
phrase of repetition helps the audience understand the claim because Friedan is
repeating the words periodically to emphasize her point. In addition, she states
beyond biology, beyond the narrow walls (13). Friedan repeats the word beyond to
emphasize where it reaches. In Friedan s novel, she uses repetition sufficiently by
making points, creating moods, and establishing
Oprah Winfrey Traits
Be thankful for what you have; you ll end up having more. If you concentrate on
what you don t have, you will never, ever have enough. This is one the most
favorite quotes by Oprah Winfrey. Oprah is one of the richest black women in the

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a well noted American leader, who is known primarily
for his role in the African American civil rights movement of the 20th century in
USA. He is often regarded as a champion of human rights and considered to be not
only associated with the cause of racial discrimination against the African
Americans, but also with other social causes relating to injustice, unfairness and
discrimination in the American society. He also holds the privilege of being the
youngest ever person in the history to have received the prestigious Nobel Peace
Prize1. Besides being a well renowned social activist, he was also a Baptist minister
and had a degree in Theology and Divinity2. Since he had such an active and stellar
political career, his political and social beliefs and his achievements in those areas
have received a lot more attention than his religious beliefs and philosophies that he
conformed to. In this article an attempt is made to highlight his religious
contributions to the American theology. Martin Luther King was born on 15th
January in the year 1929 in the rural parts of the state of Georgia2. His family was
deeply rooted in the Christian faith and his father and grandfather, both were
associated with the Baptist churches during their lifetime. His grandfather was a
minister of a church. After his death, Martin Luther King s father became a pastor of
that church2 3. His familial background was quite modest and had a great influence

Taking a Look at Intrusion Detection
Intrusion Detection Intrusion detection is similar in concept to a burglar alarm on a
car. There is the lock system to prevent access to a car, similar to a firewall, and
there is the alarm system, the intrusion detection system. Intrusion Detection Systems
(IDS) are there to compliment the network or computers firewall, if or when there is
a breach, it is the IDS that is able to identify it and then alert the administrator.
Firewalls are an effective way for filtering information coming in to your network
from the internet and are a good source of protection, but there are ways to
circumvent a firewall which could leave you defenseless. An IDS monitors the
firewall for breaches and also monitors the traffic on the organizations network for
any anomalies. This is important in the instance of an external user connecting to an
organizations infrastructure by connecting through an installed modem on the
network, this form of attack cannot be caught by a firewall but an IDS is able to
recognize the abnormal activity and report the intrusion to an administrator. Intrusion
detection systems are there to help an information system prepare for and deal with
attacks. They collect information from a variety of system and network sources and
then analyze the information and activity logs searching for information on potential
security problems. Some of the main tasks of an IDS are to monitor and analyze the
user and system activity on a network, to audit the systems
Ted Bundy Case
Criminal Case Study Theodore Bundy, also known as Ted, was born on November
24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont to Eleanor Cowell who secretly was ashamed.
Eleanor was a 22 year old single mother whose parents were very religious and
humiliated of Ted. After Ted was born, Eleanor brought him to her parents who
lived in Philadelphia, where he was raised as the adoptive son of his grandparents.
This led to his real mom being called his sister. A few years later, Eleanor and Ted
moved to Tacoma, Washington where Eleanor married Johnnie Bundy in 1951. As
far as everyone knew, Ted grew up in a working class, Christian familythat cared and
loved for him.
Ted was a shy, bright kid who did very well in school, but not as much with his
peers. Around the age of three Ted had caught an interest in knives and as a
teenager he would walk around at night looking for discarded pornography or open
windows to view women through. He attended the University of Washington where
he fell in love with a pretty young woman who had long, dark brown hair and was
from California. She had wealth, class and influence, which was all Ted wanted.

cell that he created. He lost 30 pounds just to fit through the hole and it took the
police 15 hours to find out that Ted was missing from his cell. By then Ted was
long gone, heading to Tallahassee, Florida. On January 14, 1978, Ted broke into
the Chi Omega sorority house at Florida State University. He attacked four young
students, killing two of them. Then, on February 9, 1979, he killed a 12 year old

Assistive Staffing
Staffing is an important part of management and leadership. Anyone in the work force
can appreciate and understand the importance of adequate staffing and scheduling.
This is needed in order to meet daily unit needs and organizational goals. It is
ultimately the managers responsibility to make sure that there is adequate staffing at
all times. Whether it is centralized staffing, a central office making the schedule, or
decentralized staffing, unit managers making the schedule, differs between
institutions. Managers must keep in mind staffing mandates. Many states in the
United States, with the backing of professional nursing organizations, have moved
toward imposing mandatory licensed staffing requirements, and one state (California)
has enacted legislation requiring mandatory staffing ratios (Marquis Huston, 2012).
Currently in New York, there are no mandatory staffing ratios. Another important
concept is the relationship between nursing care hours and staffing mix. In order to
cut costs, staffing models have reduced RN representation in the staffing mix and
increased the use of unlicensed assistive personnel. Reviews of current literature
suggests that as RN hours decrease and UAP increase, adverse patient outcomes...

Although conflict can be good at times, leading to change instead of promoting
stasis, too much conflict can reduce organizational effectiveness with eventual
immobilization of employees (Marquis Huston, 2012). It is the job of the manager
to effectively handle conflict. The manager is also responsible to oversee how well
employees are carrying out the duties of their assigned jobs. This can be done
through performance appraisals. Performance appraisals let employees know the
level of their job performance as well as future expectations and improvements. It
allows management to recognize the developmental needs of its
Chorley Wood Rot Problem
Given enough time and the right conditions, wood rot problems in Chorley can
completely destroy the wooden building materials in your house. It can be difficult
to pinpoint rotting wood, especially if it is not easily noticeable. Undetected, wood
rot can spread throughout your entire house, eventually causing extensive structural
damage. If you suspect wood rot problems in your house, contact a professional damp
proofer as soon as possible.
Older buildings and houses that have not been regularly maintained are at risk. In
Chorley, wood rot problems are caused by wet timber. Moisture in the wooden
parts of your house creates an environment that is ideal for fungal growth. This
causes the wood s fibres to deteriorate. If there is an unprotected wooden area in
your house that is in contact with water over a long enough length of time, the wood
will begin to rot. Wood decay spores can settle on the damp or wet wood, and when
the conditions are right, will germinate into tiny fungus plants that will penetrate the
wood. If wood rot is not detected and removed, it can ... Show more content on

The Truth Behind Sea Turtle Endangerment
The Truth behind Sea Turtle Endangerment
It s no shock as to why sea turtles are endangered. After years of human s destructive
nature on earth s oceans, sea turtles have been left with polluted water and a
destroyed ecosystem. Turtles must watch out for all types of danger. For example,
not only do they have to worry about sharks, sea birds, and other predators of the
ocean, but the most menacing of all is humans. Not only do humans eat turtles, but
the plastic and other toxic waste left behind by humans have left sea turtles almost
extinct.
Thousands of sea turtles each year are illegally poached for their meat in the coastal
regions of Latin America, Southeast Asia, and India. In some countries, their meat is
considered a delicacy. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

length and weigh up to 2000 pounds. The shell of leatherback turtles is made of
many small bones that form longitudinal ridges. Their diet mainly consists of
jellyfish. They are also considered deep divers who can dive up to 2100 feet. Like
all other species of sea turtles, the leather back is considered endangered and might
become extinct in the future.
Although sea turtles are endangered, they is hope. The green sea turtle, once very
common, have started to increase in numbers in some places indisputably because of
protection. In 1989, the United States forced all shrimp nets to be fitted with turtle
exclusion devices(TED s). Regardless of how sea turtles are protected in the United
States, there are still some regions where enforcement is difficult because of illegal
fishing and egg hunting. If stricter worldwide enforcement of sea turtles was
established, they one day might not be endangered. To help save sea turtles, reserves
and national parks need to protect nesting beaches, control pollution, fishing
practices, regulate trade, and restock former nesting
The Reliability Of Data Migration
Reliability of Data Migration Over many ago relational databases reside most of the
data but after the introduction of NoSQL database had changed this procedure. Most
of the unstructured data had been sent to NoSQL database. Relational database
systems, which showed good performance before the birth of internet and cloud
computing era is now unable to control the heat of new technologies. To stabilize this
situation new requirements were set to design by RDBMS. To meet these challenges
they need highly scalable and unstructured data model with high performance; so
they choose NoSQL database(Muhammad Mughees, 2013).
Two components were suggested for the architecture which uses data tacking

This technology provides good results without normalization of data. The schema
free approach of NoSQL makes it easy to make changes dynamically. It is highly
scalable and high availability of NoSQL data model is beneficial in designing a tool
for data migration from relational model to NoSQL database.
The data cleansing process is suggested for data migration as it handles the business
validation but NoSQL database do not have any such concepts which handle business
rules. The cleansing process follows relational database constraints and
normalization. This process is required when a data is sent from heterogeneous
environment with undefined data types in target location. As we all know the
migration of data means to move the exactly the same data from source to destination
with authentication. For this if we make NoSQL database meets certain requirements
with some changes in its model such as uniqueness of data then migration could be
possible [6].
Thus, it seems data migration from relational database to NoSQL database seems
difficult but not impossible
Selecting the suitable NoSQL database
Many NoSQL databases were developed for their feasibility like couch DB, Mongo
DB and many others. So, it became challenging to choose one among them which
meets all the requirements for the feasibility of data migration. For selecting the
NoSQL database we need to do a lot research on the pros and cons of those,

conceptually addressed its infrastructure and operational hurdles. However, very few
strides have been made to reverse stakeholder perception crisis response time, relief

Governmental mandates that streamlined the board and that established accounting

In March 2012, local leaders and the United Way demanded answers from Red
Cross Panhandle Chapter regarding the distribution of $282K that was raised from
wildfire relief donations. These funds were raised in 2010 and by the time the
inquiries began many of the 2010 ARC staff in this chapter had been replaced
under the government restructure. As such, new staff found itself in a quandary as
it sought to address the questions and accusations being hurled (Welch, 2012). The
tangible numbers that were eventually conveyed indicated that of the $282k raised,
$119k was actually given to victims and $60K was used to restock inventories. This
account still left $103K unaccounted for. The next speculation that surfaced was
revolved around why the funds were not distributed for the purpose for which it
was collected? A spokesperson for the local ARC chapter communicated that,

including satyrs, maenads, and his old tutor Silenus. The consort of Dionysus was
Ariadne. Animals sacred to him include dolphins, serpents, tigers, and donkeys. A
later addition to the Olympians, in some accounts he replaced Hestia. Bacchus was
another name for him in Greek, and came into common usage among the Romans.
Hades (бѕЌОґО·П‚, HГЎdД“s) or Pluto (О О»ОїПЌП„П‰ОЅ, PloutЕЌn)
King of the underworld and the dead, and god of the earth s hidden wealth, both
agricultural produce and precious metals. His consort is Persephone. His attributes
are the drinking horn or cornucopia, key, sceptre, and the three headed dog
Cerberus. The screech owl was sacred to him. He was one of three sons of Cronus
and Rhea, and thus sovereign over one of the three realms of the universe, the
underworld. As a chthonic god, however, his place among the Olympians is
ambiguous. In the mystery religions and Athenian literature, Pluto (Plouton, the Rich

The Romans translated Plouton as Dis Pater ( the Rich Father ) or Pluto.

How Does Mills Define Happiness
Mills main purpose for this essay was to base it on a principle: Actions are right in
proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce the
absence of pain. He explains that some pleasures are higher than others. Mill
means when he says It is better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a swine satisfied
that a person must choose higher pleasures to be happy, I can say that I do agree
with his claim based on my own personal experiences. Mill defines the Greatest
Happiness Principle to be the presence of pleasure and the absence of pain. He then
goes on to say that pleasures are a qualitative distinction and not all pleasures are
equal. Examples of higher pleasures can be wealth, religion, and education. These

paper defines the problems and the scope of ICT environmental sustainability.
In order to save the organization a protocol must be used to provide a framework that
estimate the carbon content. The organization must prefer to outsource some of the
equipment which produces more carbon. Otherwise different infrastructure can be
built to dump the out dated products. The equipment can be reuse or sold at the

We understand why animals fight amongst themselves. We know that in the
animal world, there will be a predator and pray. We accept that a species is called
king of the jungle and they are far more powerful and considered superior
compared to what is defined as a pest. We have made these inferences by studying
the natural habitat of different animals and we see that most animals express
themselves with violence and attacks against each other. This is not just solely on
different species, but also from the same breed. For example, silverbacks are
supposed to take care of his own family. If silverback sees that a potential silverback

is that there s actually only 5 different types of execution, Lethal Injection,
Electrocution, Lethal Gas, Firing Squad, and Hanging. What is death penalty you
may ask? Well, death penalty is when you do something so, HORRIBLY BAD, that

On the Roads optimism Essay example
In Jack Kerouac s novel On the Road, the narrator, Sal Paradise offers up to us what
seems to be a very optimistic view on life. He is forever singing the praises of how
wonderful his adventures will be and his high expectations for the future. To Sal, the
novel is defined by youthful exuberance and unabashed optimism for the new
experiences that he sets out to find. A deeper look into the novel, as well as a look
at some of the criticswho have written on it, reveals a much darker side, a more
pessimistic and sad aspect that Sal simply fails to realize until the very close of the
action. Whether Sal is hopped up on the optimism of jazz music, secure in his belief

The influence of Dean Moriarty on the novel, in terms of everything from plot to
general tone to the thoughts and dreams of Sal, is immeasurable. Most importantly
though, he is the catalyst for much of this blind optimism for in a sense, he
personifies blind optimism. During the long introduction of Dean in the first
chapter, Sal shows the vast impression that Dean will have on the tone of the
novel: all my New York friends were in their negative, nightmare position of putting
down society and giving their bookish or psychoanalytical reasons, but Dean just
raced in society, eager for bread and love; he didn t care one way or the other
(Kerouac, 7).
Dean s refusal to look at the world with a disapproving eye and always having hope
for simple things like food and sex exemplify his personification of optimism. This
early passage of the novel shows that Dean will and eventually does become the
driving force in the optimism that marks much of the book. Dean s lust for life
guides himself and Sal to places such as jazz clubs, old friends houses, and even
Mexico. But with Dean as well as the cohorts that follow his madness, (Sal, Ed
Dunkel, Carlo Marx and many more) the result ends up being much less than ideal,
despite the fact that they sometimes happen to receive that
Free Doctor Assisted Suicide Within Canada
In late February 2016, a recent debate among Canadian politicians arose on
whether mature minors have the right to access doctor assisted suicide within
Canada. In Canadian Paediatric Society1 article, it explains how the government
has a three year deadline in order to create new legislation. However, the the
Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) believes that this three year deadline Is not
enough time to gather adequate and appropriate information on whether this
practice should be allowed to be extended to minors under the age of 18. Currently,
the CPS believes that it will be very hard to develop any data the experience of
physician assisted deaths among adults, within the next 3 years. The CPS stated
that Without that data, and a great deal of other information, it is premature to set
a deadline for enacting legislation (2016). The CBC brought up valuable points to
the cause, firstly that age is arbitrary . Dr. Smith stated in the CBC article that
there are some people who are 21, while there are those that are 14, and have the
maturity to give consent, he went on to explain that he feels that this topic should go
to even younger children. Later in the article Conservative MP Mike Cooper said
that this was illogical and that those not old enough to vote should not have the right
to choose if they live or die. The CBC went on to reiterate what the CPS article was
about, saying that with such little data on the subject, and with two very distinct
sides to this ethical

the world When the crow said this to the swan, the swan said, I used to think that I

Difference Between Foster Care And Adoption
Foster care is a temporary agreement in which an adult provides care for a child that
cannot be taken care of by their birth parents. Foster care is usually arranged through
the court or a social service agency. The intention for a child in foster care is normally
reunification with their birth parents unless adoptionis in the child s best interest. The
difference between foster careand adoption is that foster care is temporary while
adoption is permanent. There are many other things that are different between foster
care and adoption for example, parental rights. While a child is in foster care the
child s birth parents have parental rights over the child and with adoption their new
parents have parental rights. In that case foster parents... Show more content on

problems. Children in semi open adoptions often wonder what their real families

their biological family and wonder what it would be like to meet their family
members and other siblings they may have. In the other hand, during open adoptions
children are given a chance to know their birth parents and form some kind of

the past. Feelings of regret may come along with their identity issues. The children

also face difficult times when questions begin to arise about being an adopted child

physically look like the parents. That is when at times adopted children become sad
and annoyed at the same time. Adoption parents should quickly
Jeff Nichols Midnight Special
Midnight Special , the latest cinematic exposure by the adroit filmmaker, Jeff
Nichols, is a passable cocktail that contains drama, sci fi, and thriller in unequal
proportions.
Mr. Nichols fourth motion picture features Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Adam
Driver, Kirsten Dunst, and the young Jaeden Lieberher, in the leading roles. This is
their first collaboration with the director, except for the earnest Mr. Shannon who
also starred in his other three dramas Shotgun Stories , Mud , and Take Shelter ,
whose scripts I consider more satisfying than the object of this review.
Calling to mind Spielberg s Close Encounters of the Third Kind (conceptually),
Shyamalan s Signs (visually), and one of the Italo Calvino s invisible cities ... Show

Alton is naturally sweet and extra sensitive (he can replicate in real time what they
re saying on the radio) but also has the power of causing massive destruction when
frightened or in danger. During the day, he uses blue goggles in an attempt to protect
his eyes, which occasionally emit a spectrum of bright light. However, he s getting
sicker each day, and this is the time to act.
Meanwhile, the FBI starts an investigation, relying on their smartest and trustful
agent, Paul Sevier (Driver), who becomes essential in the communication with Alton,
while the pastor sends two men to find Roy s whereabouts and bring Alton back to
the ranch.
Not so enrapturing as it promised, Midnight Special instigates you to imagine much
more than what is really given.
Mr. Nichols had some difficulties in giving the best sequence to the mystery set in
the first half while the religion connotations of the story felt a bit like a sham.
Despite intermittent in terms of thrills and action, the film, well acted and directed,

A Causal Link Between The Presences Of Sports And A...
The goal of this paper is to be able to establish a causal link between the presences
of sports in a postsecondary school affect the number of male students attending
these schools. The reason we would want to answer this question is should we
incorporate sports more in schools to increase male attendance and level out the gap
between male and female enrollment. State Universities that are wanting to become
established and increase their male enrollment, as well as their presence in the
athletic arena will have a great interest in this correlation. The answer to this question
is interesting and valuable from an Economics point of view is to influence
postsecondary school s to help make the decision if they should incorporate sports
teams... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the presence of sports this could create a positive effect on the number of men
enrolled in these schools. Other factors that affect the number of enrolled men are the
different kinds of sports. For instance, Football may increase the number of enrolled
men. But soccer will decrease the number of men enrolled.
When researching papers that could help determining if there is a casual link between
sports in postsecondary schools and male attendance, the only thing that was found of
interest was that High school athletic participation was significantly related to
educational progress among suburban and rural white males. (Sabo, pg. 50) Since it
seems that there is some data and research suggesting that male students who
participated in sports during their high school careers went on to college and had
success. One could argue that since these students had participated in sports during
their high school career and went on to succeed in college, there would be an
increase in male students when more sports or present. It is logical to think that if a
male student is highly interested in sports and even participates in the sport, that they
would prefer to attend a school that has sports. This is the only article that I could
find that had a discussion between male college attendance and sport. I feel that I am
contributing to the research, instead of looking at student s
Sex Lies And Conversation Summary
The articles Sex, Lies and Conversation: Why is it Hard for Men and Women to Talk
to each other by Deborah Tannen and Speaking Different Languages by John Gray
are about how men and women often misunderstand each other which causes
conflicts and or arguments. When a woman says something it usually has a deeper
meaning, but men are usually more direct when speaking; this leads to conflicts and
relationship problems. According to Tannen and Gray, men and women can adjust
their thinking to minimize misunderstanding by translating each other s dialect, by
understanding their different ways of listening, and different body languages.
Misinterpreting what someone says is the main cause of disputes. Men and women
have different ways of speaking so it is best if men translate what the women is
trying to say in order to avoid misinterpretations. For example, John Gray writes
about a Venusian and Martian phrase dictionary which can help avoid
misunderstandings. He says ...people from Mars and people from Venus spoke
different languages, so when there was a conflict they didn t start judging or fighting
but instead pulled out their phrase dictionaries to understand each other ... Show more

The first difference is how they listen to people talking. Women love to make listener
noises such as mhm, uhuh, and yeah. They do this to show I m with you
(Tannen332). On the other hand, men listen in silence. When men are silent it usually
is because they are trying to interpret the information. Another reason for a men s
silence is when they go into their cave because they are upset or stressed. Women
misinterpret a man s silence and they imagine horrible things such as he hates me,
he doesn t love me, he is leaving me forever. A women s silence means what she s
about to say is going to hurt them or she doesn t want to talk to them. If they can
realize they have different ways of communicating then there wouldn t be many

Tim O Brien s Research Essay
Tim O Brien is known for sharing his life stories with the world. In many of his
stories and memoirs he goes into detail about his experiences in the Vietnam War. As
quoted from Tim O Brien, My passion[s] as a human being and as a writer intersect in
Vietnam, not in the physical stuff but in the issues of Vietnamof courage, rectitude,
enlightenment, holiness, trying to do the right thing in the world (Chin 1062). Both
of his stories Ambush and The Things They Carried are memories of what
happened to and around him during the war. He goes into detail about the war and
the hardships he had to face to survive. Especially in The Things They Carried he
emphasizes the physical and emotional traumas the characters had to face. Tim O
Brien is an influential American author who is highly known for his memoirs and
stories such as Ambush and The Things They Carried. Tim O Brien is considered to
be one of the most talented American Literature author who writes short stories and
memoirs based on his experiences in the Vietnam War, but it had to start somewhere.
William Timothy O Brien, Jr. was born October 1st, 1946 in Austin Minnesota

Most of all of his works were deeply concerned with the experience of the Vietnam
War. O Brien uses the Vietnam War to explore courage, memory, truth, and the art
of storytelling in his books (Kellman 1905). Some stories that O Brien has written
are Going After Cacciato, In The Lake of The Woods, and If I Die in A Combat
Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home. Going After Cacciato is the third book O
Brien has written which won the 1979 National Book award because during the
time period it was published it was considered one of the finest works of the Vietnam
war experience (1905). However, the majority of Tim O Brien s stories were
Analysis Of The Book The State Of Israel Rich
Summary and Analysis of the Mazie Book
The state of Israel rich in tradition and innovation, has in its short existence been one
of the most politically interesting phenomenons in the modern world. The state, since
the signing of the Declaration of Establishment in 1948 has created a specific form
of democracy not seen among many countries throughout the world; democracy
which incorporates religious law as well as judicial and social law. Within Israels
Higher Law, written by Steven V. Mazie, religion and liberal democracy are
discussed in regards to the Jewish State. Mazie focuses on the struggle between
liberal democracy and religion, and how both affect the two types of people living in
Israel Arabs and Jews. Both groups of Israelis ... Show more content on

Separation of church and state is essential in creating a liberal state. Within a
liberal state, religion should be expressed and practiced in a private setting. This
idea of separation of church and state emerges from the beginning of the United
States. Thomas Jefferson coined the term a wall of separation , which defines the
relationship between religion and government. Although many problems arise out
of government and church intertwinement, strict separation is not the most
practical answer in today s world. States that show toleration for the vast majority
of religious views while still focusing on the main religion are more likely to work
within a democratic and liberal spectrum than those who demonstrate strict
separation. Chapter 1 begins with, One of the most familiar ideas of contemporary
liberal thought is the State and Church must remain separate (Mazie 3). This idea
which Mazie expresses is commonly seen as the best way to secure religious
freedom. Mazie uses arguments by John Locke to better express the idea of
religious freedom within a state. In John Locke s Letter Concerning Toleration he
claims the attempt by government to oppress religion has caused many of the wars
in the Christian world. Toleration, seen as the main ingredient in John Locke s
proposal, is also Mazie s key to social harmony and stability. Mazie designates chapter
two for the discussion of Israel as
Drake College Campus Environment
Drake s campus is located on a 150 acre property in Polk County and is
approximately 5 miles from the center of Des Moines, Iowa. The campus has 84
buildings, 35 associated parking lots and is interspersed with sidewalks, multiple
green spaces and commons that are consistently maintained by the grounds team. The
campus has impermeable and permeable surfaces as Table 1 demonstrates. Drake
currently has two new buildings under construction that will further increase the
number of impermeable surfaces on campus, and it is expected the number of
impermeable surfaces will continue to grow as the campus grows. Topographically,
the campus is slightly sloped, with the north end of campus at a lower elevation than
the south. Often during large or sustained precipitation events runoff tends to pool
near the campus s reflecting pool,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Natural habitat is limited on campus to a small tallgrass prairie plot that was
established in the mid 2000s. That area is used as a teaching space for many
environmental science classes and is maintained through yearly burnings. Otherwise,
the campus commons are dominated by lawn grasses that receive routine mowing
and aeration. The campus has the most concentrated greenspace in the surrounding
neighborhood, which is dominated my roads, residential and commercial areas
that are principally impermeable. Thus, the precipitations that does fall on the
green spaces of campus percolates into the ground or runoffs into either a Drake or
city of Des Moines owned drainage pipe. Moreover, precipitation that falls onto one
of the campus s roofs or parking lots typically flows directly into drainage pipes.
Some of these drainage pipes flow directly into a ravine that has a stream. The stream
is approximately two blocks north of the campus behind the Tennis Center Field
between 27th and 24th Street and eventually joins with the Des Moines
Doctor Mckee Character Model
The movie I selected for my case study was The Doctor released in 1991. The main
character, Dr. McKee is a well renowned Heart surgeon. His character is portrayed
as a very self centered person who shows zero empathy towards his patients. His
lack of empathy was seen multiple times in the beginning of the movie; for
instance, when one of his patient ask him a question related to her scars after her
open heart surgery, was ridiculed by Dr. McKee. On another occasion, when group
of interns asks him if he shows emotions towards his patients, he replies by saying
you go in, you cut and that s all . The entire hospitalenvironment appeared to be
based on a physiciancentered model rather than patient centered model. Dr. McKee s

Vegearian Vs Vegetarian Diets
Vegetarians Vs. Omnivores
The world is changing for the worst all thanks to animal protein. In 2016 the United
States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimated that Americans ate an average
of 92.1 pounds of chicken, 50.4 pounds of pork, and 54.3 pounds of beef, per person
every year. (Per Capita Consumption) While meat is the most convenient source of
protein, vegetarian diets are better for people because it decreases pollution,
conserves resources, and is better for your health.
Global warming is becoming a bigger issue every day. NASA predicts that the earth
s surface temperature is going to rise between two and six degrees Celsius by the
end of the 21st century. A vegetarian diet leads to lower greenhouse gas. Greenhouse
gases are made by enteric fermentation (aka animal burps and poots, methane equals
bad), deforestation to make room for grazing animals and growing their feed, and
manure decomposition. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture
Organization, raising animals for consumption creates 18% of global greenhouse
gases. That s more than transportation! Producing only one pound of hamburger meat
makes just as much greenhouse gas as driving a little car almost 20 miles. One
pound of pork equals about 5 miles, and one pound of potatoes is only 0.34 miles. A
study found that diets including meat protein cause the creation of up to 54% more
greenhouse gas emissions than vegetarian diets. According to the United Nations
Environment Programme, a
The Scarlet
The autumn sky gave a brisk cool wind. Scarlet loved this time of year. Going for
many adventures through the local forest, the leaves had already started turning
colors. Beautiful crimson red, citron yellow, and burnt orange leaves could be seen
everywhere. The path itself was covered with leaves which had already fallen. They
would crinkling under her feet with every step she took. Scarlet could hear the birds
chirping in the distance. Animals scurrying around as she mindlessly strolls along.
Her cares seemed elsewhere. Her motherhad asked that, if while she was hunting, if
she could gather some Autumn Firework petals. Appropriately named as its petals
looked firework shooting from the inside. This was a key ingredient for most of...

As Scarlet quickened her pace on the path towards her village, she noticed that the
center of the clouds had now appeared dark black like a raven s feathers. The
rounded outsides were shades of crimson red and bluish grey collided together. This
storm was a big one. The gods must be having an argument she thought as she now
was at a steady run towards home. By chance, (no pun intended)
William had stormed out of the room, out of the manor and into the Fox Run
Forest, which coincidentally, connects to Deer Land Forest at its eastern most
point. He was muttering to himself and kicking the leaves beneath his feet. He
seemed to be lacking attention to the ominous cloud which seemed to be following
him with every step he takes. This was a time when he wished he had a mother,
someone we know could talk to. She had gone to the heavens whilst giving birth to
him. His father was sure to remind him everyday! For some strange reason he felt
the guilt that he knew his father purposely dig into his brain since he could
remember! His father never showed him much attention as a young child. Now as a
young man, he only does when he feels he must scold him personally for his
mischievous ways!!
As William was lost in thought, suddenly, a young girl came rolling from a small
hill where William was now standing. Hitting the stunned William and king him to
the ground. Scarlet raises herself up and looks over at the dazed boy and began to

  • 1. Richard Cory Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Richard Cory" can pose several challenges, as the topic delves into the complexities of the narrative and requires a nuanced analysis. To begin with, one must thoroughly grasp the poem's content, understanding the layers of meaning embedded in each stanza. Richard Cory's character is enigmatic, leaving room for various interpretations, and capturing this complexity in a coherent essay demands a keen understanding of literary devices and poetic techniques. Another aspect of difficulty arises in the need to explore the socio-economic context reflected in the poem. The stark contrast between Cory's external success and his internal turmoil prompts an exploration of societal expectations, wealth, and the faГ§ade of happiness. Unraveling these themes requires meticulous research and a deep dive into the socio-cultural milieu of the time, adding to the complexity of the essay. Moreover, constructing a compelling argument demands the skill to weave together textual evidence and critical analysis seamlessly. The challenge lies in articulating one's thoughts with clarity while maintaining a sophisticated discourse. Balancing personal interpretations with established literary theories further complicates the task, demanding a nuanced understanding of literary criticism. • 2. Methane Hydrates. Everyone Who Does Not Live Under A Rock Methane Hydrates Everyone who does not live under a rock enjoys their heating and energy supply that charges their computers and keeps them toasty in the winter. Nearly one hundred percent of the time, an individual using such resources will neglect to take note of where they come from. Many a time this energy comes from natural gas (methane hydrates), which have special properties like all chemicals that can make them bad for the environment, and lead to consequences for the future. Since America industrialized, most of our energy reserves comes from nonrenewable, carbon based resources. Currently, The United States uses approximately 26.6 trillion cubic feet of natural gas (How). The main component of natural gas is of course methane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, if you do get the methane out into a usable form, a person could use it to heat their house by combusting methane. When methane undergoes a reaction with oxygen (burning), the covalent bonds around the central carbon atom break, transforming into heat energy. In the process though carbon also bonds with oxygen gas creating carbon dioxide (CO2). The leftover hydrogen atoms then bond with more oxygen and form more water. This of course results in a gaseous form of carbon dioxide and water. In the end the process is termed exothermic due to it releasing heat into the surrounding area. The products of this reaction will go to completion as shown below. As the products leak out and are stuck in the atmosphere, the heat energy that water takes with it is transferred to the carbon dioxide due to the second law of thermodynamics, which states Entropy always increases (Tro). Due to this the atmosphere increases in temperature due to the heat capacity of the carbon dioxide. This is how global warming works. However, the heat taken in by water is quickly lost from the atmosphere due to rainfall. On the side of the carbon dioxide not so much. The water cycle that everyone learned in grade school can take a couple days or more. Sadly enough, the carbon cycle can take one hundred to two hundred million years to complete. Carbon dioxide created from methane can also be absorbed by water. When
  • 3. Feminist Analysis Even though women make up approximately half of the United States population, there were few opportunities for women to have female role models or perspectives of history that focused on women until a little over a century ago, when World War I and the First Wave of Feminism changed the role women played in society forever. However, it is remarkable to examine how women had and been continuously pushed to the back of the conversation, even as feminismbecame a nationally recognised issue. Even now, our nation s history is told in an androcentric fashion; even if gender inequality throughout our nation s history has shaped many social structures today, there is a lack of recognition of the importance of women. On top of that, such an androcentric... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to an online record of feminist and gender archaeology, this split was solidified in a 1984 paper by Margaret Conkey and Janet Spector titled Archaeology and the Study of Gender, which criticised how archaeologists glazed over past gender constructs and how they often approached gender inequality with a structuralist point of view, a way of saying that these inequalities were seen as natural. In particular, gender roles in the context of a political economy were criticised, as male figures in the forefront of archaeology expected women to do the indoor work such as labwork and organisation. Feminist archaeology became a discipline for both the past and the present. During the rise of this subfield, gender archaeology was considered very similar to feminist archaeology to the point where they were categorised as the same perspective by many. However, as more gender archaeologists began focusing on the historical construction of gender, a mid 90s break between the sub disciplines occurred; feminist archaeology was simply too focused on the image of a traditional, cisgender woman in a world of binary gender constructs. Over the past twenty years, gender archaeology has become an incredibly influential subfield of archaeology, and since feminist archaeology is slowly changing to become more inclusive, the two subfields have many close ties again, especially when it comes to queer archaeology. In summary of their focuses, they seek to research how inequality based on gender is constructed in a society, how it is perpetuated, and, to avoid bias: to recognise that these subfields are reflective of specific sociopolitical beliefs and agendas
  • 4. Sequential Art Rhetorical Analysis Rhetoric in Sequential Art When the word sequential art comes to mind, many people would automatically assume some elaborate work of art that belongs in an art museum, but at a baseline sequential art can be your average comic book or comic strip. This isn t to say that they shouldn t be in an art museum because the work displayed in them is phenomenal and in some ways, can surpass your stereotypical piece of art, but most people consider them childish, a waste of time, or something that could never be taken seriously. In reality comics and other forms of sequential art do something that many pieces of art cannot do. They can combine the beauty or simplicity behind art, with a phenomenal storyline that everyone can understand. What is even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When thinking about a novel, one of the most commonly used rhetorical tools used is imagery. When a scene is important for the sake of the plot or important to the author, the author works hard to bring the reader into the world that they see the action happening in. The same can be said of the presentation of a certain sequence within a piece of sequential art. Whereas a square can be seen as an ordinary frame for a comic, when the art is put into any other shape, it now stands out as important to the reader and they are more inclined to noticed more detail within the scene or frame. The same effect applies within the Narmer Palette and its presentation on the stone tablet that it is carved on. The main parts of the story are in giant panels, framed in a large rectangle and surrounded by the Egyptian goddess Bat, a cow goddess who was prevalent in the Old and Middle Kingdoms of Egypt. The goddess was told to have two faces, one able to see to the past and the other to see towards the future, hence why the face of a cow appears twice on each panel of significance. For many who were to look upon the palette it would be a sign of a blessing, significance, and greatness. This particular style of detail can be considered a rhetorical device because of its purpose towards the main theme of the

The first was to develop my competence as a manager. The second and more important reason was to advance my career by making myself more marketable. The job market today is undoubtedly very competitive and I realised that a first degree was not sufficient if I wanted to climb the corporate ladder . It is hoped that this MBA would help me to take advantage of any future opportunities when they become available. My personal development journey thus far has quite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From completing the questionnaire I think my core skills of team working and communication need moderate development. The team roles that best describe me are: Monitor Evaluator, Team worker and Completer/Finisher (Belbin 1993). If I know myself as well as I think I do, I think these roles are more in line with my personality. At work I get involved in various projects and 4 I am a great team player. I am always willing to lend support and I generally get along well with other colleagues. I feel confident that I can display this level of commitment to the team assignments during the second stage of the MBA program. My coaching and facilitation skills however are in need of serious development. Again I think my personality has a major part to play because I always avoid roles that would entail me being in the spot light and I just prefer to blend in. With this understanding of the roles that I am more likely to gravitate towards and the ones I stay clear of, I have to wonder if avoiding the other roles would negatively impact on my overall development. But I also question if this is how group dynamics work since no one person can be perfect at everything. But I definitely know that my shyness and lack of confidence is one of my biggest weaknesses which could jeopardize my effectiveness as a leader or manager. Reflection on my behaviour in the workplace and my learning group I completed the online Keirsey Temperament
  • 6. Essay on The Invention of the Telegraph and Morse Code The telegraph was the first major advancement in communication technology. In 1838, Samuel Morse perfected and demonstrated the first telegraph machine. His machine used Morse code to send electronic currents along a wire, allowing the first high speed long distance communications. By the 1850s, the telegraph was widespread. In 1861, Western Union installed the first trans continental line and by 1866, the first trans Atlantic line was completed. At this time, telegraphs were all keyed by hand and transcribed from Morse code to English by ear. Fredrick Creed invented a way to convert Morse code into text in what became known as the Creed Telegraph System. That was in 1900, and by 1914, these automatic transmissions handled twice what a... However, it only worked when driving on the highway between Boston and New York. In 1973, the first portable phone call was placed, and by 1991 mobile phones were available to the public. By 2001, these newly developed cell phones overshadowed payphones and were an integral part of American daily life. Similar to the telegraph, the invention of the telephone made instant communication a possibility. Far more effective than the telegraph, the phone allowed for the spread of more information over a shorter period. Writing was no longer the only form of long distance communication. Telephones encouraged the progress of city centers and office buildings. The importance of messengers and telegraphs dwindled as the telephone industry expanded. By the early 21st century, constant connection to the entire planet through cell phones was an American standard. Another technological innovation was the development of electronic mail, or email. Technically speaking, the telegraph was the first electronic mail. The next advancement of the electronic mail industry was the telex network, an advanced form of the telegraph that is still used today. From the 1940s to the 1980s, businesses widely utilized the telex network. In the 1960s and 1970s, many companies used mainframe and mini computers with
  • 7. Macro Sociological Perspectives The conflict perspective views society less as a cohesive system and more as an arena of conflict and power struggles. Compare and contrast the main tenets of the functionalist and conflict perspectives. The conflict perspective views society less as a cohesive system and more as an arena of conflict and power struggles . This perspective was founded by sociologist Karl Marx (1818 1883) and serves to introduce the concept that inequality and specifically inequality under capitalism exists between two main classes in society namely the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. The expected patterns of behaviour are imposed on the individual through the socialisation process. According to Durkheim, Social facts are ways of acting, thinking and feeling, existing outside the individual . Parsons believed that a social system must fulfil four prerequisites in order for it to function. These are Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration and Latency. Similarly, the conflict perspective seeks to explain change in society. This concept, however, highlights a Capitalist view, where two classes exist in society namely the Proletariat and the Bourgeoisie. The founder of the conflict perspective, Karl Marx, believed that social change can only be attained through conflict that will arise once the working class or proletariat realised the state of false consciousness that they were subject to by the bourgeoisie and developed a state of class consciousness which recognises that all individuals within a society are equal. Thus, the inequalities that exist with respect to the distribution of wealth, power and the resources will now be eliminated since classes will no longer exist. Marx saw conflict relations as being characterised by conflict in intergroup relations, borne out of the relationship between the forces of production and the relations of production. Conflict between these two processes in Marx s view, provided the catalyst for social

This practical framework allows them to decipher how spending should be evaluated, how performance should be measured, and how effectiveness should be monitored. There are numerous reforms on a broad spectrum which Miami seeks to take action; however, this paper will hone in specifically on transportation reform. Miami Dade Transit holds the15th largest public transit system in the United States as well as largest transit agency in the state of Florida. With a little over 2.6 million residents, it is imperative to have an effective transportation system that all residing residents can rely on. Miami initially had a highly ineffective system in place where the Citizens Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) handled the budget and created projects without any specific overseer (Citizens Independent Transportation Trust, 2015, p.6). The bureaucratic style committee mimicked the old public management where discretion was a norm and professionals were not held accountable without any performance measurements. In order to strengthen effectiveness, in 2010 a law placed the Board of County Commissioners (BCC), elected by the people, authority over managing the budget and prioritizing the efficiency of different projects proposed by the Citizens Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) ((Citizens Independent Transportation

Since developers are increasingly building distributed operating systems, the way to deal with complexity is using the concepts of containers. Containers are a native OS construct that provide light weight isolation. In Linux there is a concept that is comprised of different sub concepts. There are namespaces that provide isolations for user database, processes and IP addresses. Think of a container as hosted on top of an Linux OS and it gets its own database, processes and IP addresses. It also gets cgroups which governs resources. They make sure that not one container is using all the resources but it shared all the way across. Each container gets a read write view such a Union File system. How Statistics For Managers ( Bam1447b ) What I learned in Statistics Kevin Green Statistics for Managers (BAM1447B) Timothy Crawford 12 22 14 What I learned in Statistics Statistics is a mathematical and scientific process based on the analysis, interpretation, collection, or explanation, and presentation of a data set. It is applied to an enormous variety of academic disciplines, from the natural and social sciences to the humanities, and to government and business. Data analysis is applied when information needs to be converted into the raw data which is more purposeful information. Statistics is mainly all about the data analysis of a set of data. Before actually began working on data analysis in real world and on paper, it is important that the basic knowledge is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Descriptive statistics can assist in proper presentation of data such that it can be comprehended and analyzed by the user. For example, if we had the data about the labor budgets of 200 companies, then that data would make no sense as it would be difficult to comprehend. But if that data is classified industry wise, and arranged, an average is calculated for the industry and for the labor budgets, and then the interpretation would be more feasible. In this example, descriptive statistics is extremely helpful because of the simplicity of how the data information needs to be shown. Following I will briefly explain the two most common types of statistics used to break down and describe data. The two types are measures of central tendencies and measures of dispersion. Measures of central tendency are measures which are at the central position of the frequency distribution and which are representative of the whole distribution. (Tanner, D. E., Youssef Morgan, C. M. , 2013) A part of the measures of central tendency is the mean, mode and median of the data for which was describe. Measures of dispersion are measures that show how far the actual values are from the measure of central tendency. (Tanner, D. E., Youssef Morgan, C. M., 2013) For example, the average labor budgets from all the 200 stores may be 21% of net sales but individual labor will not exactly be 21% of net sales. Each store will run a different percentage for labor.
  • 17. The Cosmological Argument Analysis The early idea of the cosmological argument was developed by two historic philosophers named Plato and Aristotle. The idea of the cosmological argument was to provide the proof of the existence of God. A philosopher named Saint Thomas Aquinas then took this idea and developed it into what he calls his The Five Ways . The five ways that Aquinas provided to prove that Godexisted is by the unmoved mover, the first cause, the argument from contingency, and the argument from degree. The first of the five ways that Aquinas proves that god exists is the idea of the unmoved mover or prime mover . Aquinas believes that all things that are natural are in motion and are finite. Since everything natural is in motion and finite then a first mover must exist. If the first mover or the prime mover does not exist then there would be no other mover and nothing natural would be in motion. The natural things around us are not able to move by their own so the existence of the prime mover is created. Aquinas believes God is the first mover of the universe, unmoved by no one else, which makes God the unmoved mover. God set the universe in motion because nothing moves itself; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aquinas s second reasoning is very similar to his idea of the unmoved mover and they take place simultaneously. Aquinas believes that everything has a cause. Since everything is finite then there must be a first efficient cause for itself. Without a first cause there would be no later causes which, therefore means, nothing at all would exist. It is impossible for the first cause to have a cause. Aquinas believes that since the universe exists, then there needs to be a first cause which began all causes, which is why God is the uncaused causer of the

Likewise, when any single piece of free world fails, then by extension, it can be reasoned that the United States has failed in its leadership. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act With the advent of the Internet, Congress passed the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) in 1998 to address the obligations imposed by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Treaty. Owners of copyright were concerned that their works would be pirated online, and the existing legal systems in place at the time were insufficient to protect individuals and the industry as a whole. The DMCA was passed in 1998 with the intention of stopping copyrightinfringers from circumventing anti piracy protections that have been built into copyrighted works. Specifically, the Section 1201(a)(1) prohibits the act of circumventing a technological measure used by copyright owners to control access to their works. Although the DMCA was intended to bolster intellectual property law, it has had a deleterious impact to the industry in the aggregate. Such laws stifle innovation by preventing fair use, hindering assistive technologies for people with disabilities, and encouraging suspicious practices encoded in software that could cause public harm. Instead, laws should be predicable, minimalist, consistent, and simple in the legal environment. Firewalls are an effective way for filtering information coming in to your network from the internet and are a good source of protection, but there are ways to circumvent a firewall which could leave you defenseless. An IDS monitors the firewall for breaches and also monitors the traffic on the organizations network for any anomalies. We accept that a species is called king of the jungle and they are far more powerful and considered superior compared to what is defined as a pest. We have made these inferences by studying the natural habitat of different animals and we see that most animals express themselves with violence and attacks against each other. This is not just solely on different species, but also from the same breed. For example, silverbacks are supposed to take care of his own family. Will you send him to the electric chair, maybe even give him a shot of euthanasia? Or will you send him off to jail for some time, let him learn a lesson and reunite with society? Well, would you? Something neat about the death penalty is that there s actually only 5 different types of execution, Lethal Injection, Electrocution, Lethal Gas, Firing Squad, and Hanging. He is forever singing the praises of how wonderful his adventures will be and his high expectations for the future. To Sal, the novel is defined by youthful exuberance and unabashed optimism for the new experiences that he sets out to find. A deeper look into the novel, as well as a look at some of the criticswho have written on it, reveals a much darker side, a more pessimistic and sad aspect that Sal simply fails to realize until the very close of the action. The influence of Dean Moriarty on the novel, in terms of everything from plot to general tone to the thoughts and dreams of Sal, is immeasurable. Most importantly though, he is the catalyst for much of this blind optimism for in a sense, he personifies blind optimism. During the long introduction of Dean in the first chapter, Sal shows the vast impression that Dean will have on the tone of the novel: all my New York friends were in their negative, nightmare position of putting down society and giving their bookish or psychoanalytical reasons, but Dean just raced in society, eager for bread and love; he didn t care one way or the other (Kerouac, 7). Dean s refusal to look at the world with a disapproving eye and always having hope for simple things like food and sex exemplify his personification of optimism. This early passage of the novel shows that Dean will and eventually does become the driving force in the optimism that marks much of the book. Dean s lust for life guides himself and Sal to places such as jazz clubs, old friends houses, and even Mexico. But with Dean as well as the cohorts that follow his madness, (Sal, Ed Dunkel, Carlo Marx and many more) the result ends up being much less than ideal, despite the fact that they sometimes happen to receive that

However, the the Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) believes that this three year deadline Is not enough time to gather adequate and appropriate information on whether this practice should be allowed to be extended to minors under the age of 18. The CPS stated that Without that data, and a great deal of other information, it is premature to set a deadline for enacting legislation (2016). The CBC brought up valuable points to the cause, firstly that age is arbitrary . Dr. Smith stated in the CBC article that there are some people who are 21, while there are those that are 14, and have the maturity to give consent, he went on to explain that he feels that this topic should go to even younger children. Later in the article Conservative MP Mike Cooper said that this was illogical and that those not old enough to vote should not have the right to choose if they live or die. The CBC went on to reiterate what the CPS article was about, saying that with such little data on the subject, and with two very distinct sides to this ethical

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the presence of sports this could create a positive effect on the number of men enrolled in these schools. Other factors that affect the number of enrolled men are the different kinds of sports. For instance, Football may increase the number of enrolled men. But soccer will decrease the number of men enrolled. When researching papers that could help determining if there is a casual link between sports in postsecondary schools and male attendance, the only thing that was found of interest was that High school athletic participation was significantly related to educational progress among suburban and rural white males. (Sabo, pg. 50) Since it seems that there is some data and research suggesting that male students who participated in sports during their high school careers went on to college and had success. One could argue that since these students had participated in sports during their high school career and went on to succeed in college, there would be an increase in male students when more sports or present. Sex Lies And Conversation Summary The articles Sex, Lies and Conversation: Why is it Hard for Men and Women to Talk to each other by Deborah Tannen and Speaking Different Languages by John Gray are about how men and women often misunderstand each other which causes conflicts and or arguments. When a woman says something it usually has a deeper meaning, but men are usually more direct when speaking; this leads to conflicts and relationship problems. According to Tannen and Gray, men and women can adjust their thinking to minimize misunderstanding by translating each other s dialect, by understanding their different ways of listening, and different body languages. Misinterpreting what someone says is the main cause of disputes. Men and women have different ways of speaking so it is best if men translate what the women is trying to say in order to avoid misinterpretations. For example, John Gray writes about a Venusian and Martian phrase dictionary which can help avoid misunderstandings. He says ...people from Mars and people from Venus spoke different languages, so when there was a conflict they didn t start judging or fighting but instead pulled out their phrase dictionaries to understand each other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Separation of church and state is essential in creating a liberal state. Within a liberal state, religion should be expressed and practiced in a private setting. This idea of separation of church and state emerges from the beginning of the United States. Thomas Jefferson coined the term a wall of separation , which defines the relationship between religion and government. Although many problems arise out of government and church intertwinement, strict separation is not the most practical answer in today s world. States that show toleration for the vast majority of religious views while still focusing on the main religion are more likely to work within a democratic and liberal spectrum than those who demonstrate strict separation. Chapter 1 begins with, One of the most familiar ideas of contemporary liberal thought is the State and Church must remain separate (Mazie 3). This idea which Mazie expresses is commonly seen as the best way to secure religious freedom. Mazie uses arguments by John Locke to better express the idea of religious freedom within a state. In John Locke s Letter Concerning Toleration he claims the attempt by government to oppress religion has caused many of the wars in the Christian world. Toleration, seen as the main ingredient in John Locke s proposal, is also Mazie s key to social harmony and stability. Mazie designates chapter two for the discussion of Israel as

(Per Capita Consumption) While meat is the most convenient source of protein, vegetarian diets are better for people because it decreases pollution, conserves resources, and is better for your health. Global warming is becoming a bigger issue every day. NASA predicts that the earth s surface temperature is going to rise between two and six degrees Celsius by the end of the 21st century. A vegetarian diet leads to lower greenhouse gas. Greenhouse gases are made by enteric fermentation (aka animal burps and poots, methane equals bad), deforestation to make room for grazing animals and growing their feed, and manure decomposition. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, raising animals for consumption creates 18% of global greenhouse gases. That s more than transportation! Producing only one pound of hamburger meat makes just as much greenhouse gas as driving a little car almost 20 miles.
