Essay About Human Development
Crafting an essay on the subject of human development is a challenging yet enriching endeavor
that requires a delicate balance of research, critical thinking, and articulate expression. The
complexity of this topic lies in its interdisciplinary nature, encompassing elements from
psychology, sociology, biology, and even philosophy.
To embark on such a task, one must delve into the extensive literature on human development,
navigating through theories proposed by renowned psychologists, sociologists, and scholars who
have dedicated their careers to unraveling the intricacies of the human growth process.
Understanding the multitude of factors that contribute to individual and collective development,
including biological, psychological, social, and environmental aspects, demands a comprehensive
exploration of diverse sources.
Furthermore, the challenge lies not only in synthesizing existing knowledge but also in critically
evaluating and integrating various perspectives. Developing a coherent and well-structured
argument requires the ability to discern between conflicting theories, identify gaps in research,
and form a nuanced understanding that goes beyond superficial explanations.
Expressing these insights effectively in writing adds another layer of difficulty. Translating
complex ideas into a clear and engaging narrative requires a mastery of language and an
adeptness at organizing thoughts. The essayist must carefully choose words, employ rhetorical
devices, and establish a logical flow to ensure that the reader can follow the intricate web of
concepts presented.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on human development is a formidable task that demands
intellectual rigor, interdisciplinary knowledge, and exceptional writing skills. It involves
navigating through a vast landscape of theories and research, discerning nuanced perspectives,
and articulating complex ideas in a coherent and compelling manner. However, for those seeking

Lab Safety Code At Biosafety Labs
Chemistry laboratories pose a threat to the consumer; however, they also affect the
researcher. A young Singaporean researcher contracted Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS) through an experiment that had gone wrong. At first many people
thought he was sickened with this disease because there was a SARS crisis all
around Asia; however, that was not the case. In the article, SARS Experts want Labs
to Improve Safety Practices, the researcher claimed that he didn t have the
background to understand how to handle dangerous agents. Due to the chemistrylab,
the researcher was injured. This then formulated an international problem in which
the national legislation instructed a very detailed safety code at biosafety labs.
Many amateur experimenters do not know lab safety by heart so they tend to
perform dangerous actions that may lead to injuries or death depending on how
potentially dangerous the experiment is. In my personal experiences, I have seen
many improper lab practices in which I helped teach people how to correctly
perform these actions. This includes adding acids to water and not the reverse way
because acids may bubble and splash everywhere, pouring liquids from small
containers to big containers unless a valve is available is favored because it is
easier to spill the content from a big container into the small container, and to wear
close toed shoes in order to prevent falling dangerous materials from making contact
with skin. As one may see, there are very
Britney Spears as Role Model for All Women Essay
Britney Spears prevalence as a pre teen pop culture icon cannot be denied or
ignored. Spears, along with her colleagues Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson,
Mandy Moore and many others, are ever present on the Top 40, make frequent
appearances on MTV, and can often be found on magazine covers and in photo
spreads. Spearsis especially popular among pre teen girls, who buy her records,
singing and dancing along to the lyrics. These lyrics often deal with love, lust, and
sex topics some consider too mature for the young girlstargeted by Spears marketing.
Young womentoday are maturing at increasingly earlier ages, and the sexual
messages in Spears songs may simply be satisfying an existing demand for these
types of songs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When speaking about early pop music songs, she explains although they were mass
produced they were individually interpreted. The songs were ours but the were
also everyone else s...we found solidarity as girls (499). This certainly holds true
for Spears songs. Spears is often criticized for having mass produced songs that
someone else wrote for her. However, these songs have mass appeal which Douglas
considers a strength. Pre teen girls, in the midst of forging an identity among their
peers can certainly find solidarity by singing out the words to Hit Me Baby One
More Time together. At the very least, Spears music will serve to unite women
twenty years from now who will still know all the words to the catchy tunes as they
play over the oldies radio station.
At the same time, depending on each girl s individual knowledge and experience,
the songs will be interpreted differently. The lyrics give voice to a range of
emotions that girls may have and be unable to express otherwise. Another positive
quality of pop music is that it can give conflicting emotions a voice, something that
can aid in the process of growing up. As Douglas put it, girl groups gave voice to all
the warring selves inside us struggling, blindly and with a crushing sense of
insecurity, to forge something resembling a coherent identity...girl group music let us

Al-Ghazali The Banking Concept Of Education
Al Ghazali, an Islamic philosopher, shared his thoughts on education in his work
Manners to be Observed by Teachers and Students. The writing was published in
(insert date), and Ghazali argues that education should be intertwined with religion.
In his essay titled Manners , both student and teacher were to follow a list of duties.
Students were to follow the list not only to obtain knowledge, but to know God. The
role of a teacher was to lead students to the path of righteousness. Manners put
teachers in a position of power, in a similar way to what Freire was arguing in The
Banking Concept of Education. Al Ghazali put teachers in a position of superiority
to students. Students were expected to be submissive to their teachers and not take
pride or exalt himself... entrust him to the conduct of all his affairs (25). Al Ghazali
s vocabulary throughout the essay is derogatory towards the students. While reading
the essay words such as duty (63) and submit (25). Al Ghazali looks to God to run
the classroom, explaining in the essay that both students and teachers work for God.
The ideology brainwashes students to forget their own thoughts and opinions to meet
the expectations of Ghazali s duties. A punishment is in place for those who veer off

He argues that the current education system is causing students to be suppressed by
their instructors. Freire states that the current education system suffers from narration
sickness (63). He continues by saying that students are containers (63) that receive
information given to them by their teacher. The students receive the information
without hesitation, causing them to lose their own thoughts, opinions, morals, etc.
Freire argues that The Banking Concept teaches information that is distant from
reality, and can be combated with an education on real world
Essay on Sin City
Sin City
Two years ago my husband, myself and another couple visited Las Vegas, which is
better known as sin city. Las Vegas is the biggest city in Nevada. Neon glittered
hotels make up the general landscaping, which is otherwise a flat valley with a
mountaintop background. The city is quite compact for tourism purposes, even
though according to Frommer s, Vegasis considered one of the fastest growing cities
in America. Gambling is the central focus of Vegas, and casinosare abundant, but if
gambling is not your thing there are plenty of other attractions to do and see.
Vegas is made up of two distinct areas the Strip, and Downtown. The Strip, is
considered the most famous four mile stretch of highway in the nation. It ... Show

There is also a lounge, which we visited and watched a one man show singing old
Neil Diamond songs. Not our speed, but a hit with the older casino crowd resting
their slot burned eyes. The hotel also offers a buffet. For a reasonable price you
get a huge assortment of mediocre food, which fills you up for most of the day. We
ate at the buffet in the morning and did not need to eat again until late at night,
which is the way to go if you are saving money for all the other activities. Compared
to the giant new hotels on the strip the Imperial Palace seems seedy, but it is nicely
kept, and as I said before a bargain.
There are many different ways to get around Vegas if you do not have your own
car; public transportation, taxis, and a monorail are just a few. We boarded the
monorail at the neighboring Bally s and rode it all the way to MGM. The
monorail is a nice way to travel from one end of the strip to the other, but
unfortunately bypasses the casinos in between. They are currently adding to the
monorail to include numerous stops, which will be a great benefit for tourists. Taxis
are easy to come by, they are posted outside of every hotel/casino s driveway and are
pretty reasonable if you are sharing the cab with a group of people; up to five people
can share a cab for the same fare. Walking is of course the cheapest way to get
around, however, be sure to wear good walking shoes because the distance between
hotels can
Someone Was Movin Into Mrs. Dirk s Old House
Someone was movin into Mrs. Dirk s old house, she had died many years back.
She used to rock in her rocking chair on the porch. I remember she was a kind, old
widow. Me and Hattie used to play in her old costumes: her hats, jewelry, and her
dance shoes. She d tell us stories of when she was in the Harlem Renaissance, she
would show us pictures. She was beautiful. She was eighty nine when she died.
Now someone was movin into her old house. We watched the big, green truck
drive up the dirt road and up the hill where Mrs. Dirk s house sat. Me and Hattie
watched behind the old wooden fence. I hope they got a girl my age, said Hattie. I
wished the same thing and I know why. Hattie and I have spent every summer

The man took a box out of the truck and marched into the house. A lady came
around the truck to the back and pulled out a box . She was tall and thin. She wore
ripped jeans and a long sleeve, yellow shirt. It was cut at the bottom in little strips.
She wore a vest that was cut into little strips as well. She had long, blonde hair with
a headband around it. She had long earrings and she wore sandals. She looked the
same age as the man. She took the box into the house and a girl followed with a
box. The girl was tall, definitely taller than me and skinny. She wore very short
shorts, they were light blue. She wore a short sleeve tie die shirt that was cut into
little strips at the bottom. She wore long earrings and dozens of bracelets. She had
long, red, curly hair that was thick and wild. They continued to unload their truck.
White folks movin into Mrs. Dirk s house. I guess there s nothing wrong with it,
they got as much right to live here as we got as much right to live anywhere else. I
wondered if that girl would want to play with me and Hattie. Hattie started to run
toward her house. Hattie, wait up! I ran after her. We stopped under the big oak
tree. I thought we was gonna to say hello to them, I asked Hattie. I ain t gonna to
say hello to them! I gotta tell my papa what kind of people moved in there, she
answered. You don t know what kind of people they are. You haven t even spoken to
them yet. I do
Alcohol Vs Alcohol Research Paper
What is More Dangerous, Marijuana or Alcohol?
In recent times, marijuana has slowly become less and less of a taboo subject. The
gradual legalization has made marijuana a hot topic, both for its recreational uses and
medicinal properties. The biggest questions that remain are, is it dangerous and is it
more dangerous than alcohol? Given the length of time that alcohol has been legal
most people would assume that it is the safer option, but is that true?
Risk from Alcohol
While alcohol may be readily available to anyone over the age of 21, it still comes
with risk both to your judgment and health. According to the CDC, excessive alcohol
consumption leads to around 88,000 deaths annually. Alcohol consumption comes
with both long term and short term effects on a person, such as:
Impairment of judgment leading to injuries from motor vehicle accidents, drowning,
falls and physical instability.
People who are under the influence of alcohol may become violent, which has led to
murder, assault and sexual assault.

it is best to keep in mind that both can be vices and both can be beneficial. They

Persuasive Essay On Ketchup
Everyone else in the world still thinks of American food as ketchup. Jose Andres
Puerta Most of us cannot imagine a world without ketchup. This strange red
substance is the lifeblood of fast food everywhere. Nothing that taste good cannot be
helped by ketchup and because of this simple truth there are a number of things that
can be cooked with it. I thought that the only time that I would not see a bottle of the
stuff was during Thanksgiving dinner and then this year my little girl demanded that
some of it be put on her turkey. Think of it ketchup on that perfect slice of turkey that

Back to the point of this chapter, I am hear to tell you about ketchup and how it can
help you to make awesome meals. I am going to do this with recipes. Recipes are
these magical things that we in the cooking world use to create meals. We may cook
these meals in a ancient device called an oven or even on top of this magical
kitchen appliance using the burners. We may even use a microwave (I have a best
selling book on microwave cooking just thought I would mention it). You will find
thirty recipes in this book instead of the hundreds that are published in many other
books. The reason why I refuse to included more than fifty recipes in any cookbook
is that you do not need a ton of recipes once you got the basics down. Also, like
many things in life, the important stuff can be covered in five minutes instead of a
state of the union address. I try my best to condense it down to the go to recipes
rather than a bunch of recipes that hopefully will never see the inside of your oven.
If you want to make lasagna with eggplants, mac and cheese and ketchup go right
ahead and if I did not find the thought of it repulsive I would tell you how to do
Economic Development in South Korea
At the end of World War II, Korea was a poor former agricultural colony of Japan.
But the rapid growth of Korea s industrial economy has been remarkable. The
economy of South Korea is now the third largest in Asia and the 13th largest in the
world by GDP as of 2007. To trace back the economic development of South Korea,
the former president Park Chung Hee played a pivotal role, and was credited for
shifting its focus to export oriented favoring a few large conglomerates. Unlike his
predecessors, Park showed a strong commitment to economic development, believing
good economic performance as a primary means for enhancing his political
legitimacy. Under the President Park Chung Hee s era, the government played a

II. Information Services: Quasi government organizations As a major financial
control strategy, the President Park established the Economic Planning Board (EPB)
in July 1961. The decision making in the government became decentralized through
granting extensive autonomy to the quasi government organizations including the
Economic Planning Board. The EPB committee was consisted of several
policymaking functions of different ministries. The EPB took over the entire
budgetary function from the Ministry of Finance, as well as the collection and
evaluation of national statistics from the Ministry of International Affairs. The duties
included deciding which industries and firms to promote, supervising both the
development and the implementation of planning of each ministry s activities. The
EPB was in charge of formulating and monitoring implementations and budget of
Five Year economic development plans. Detailed information was reported to the
President at the monthly economic briefings. Consequently the EPB became more
influential in economic planning decisions, and their growth greatly strengthened the
power of Ministry of Commerce and Industry. As one of the export promotion
strategy, the government created the
Explain Why The Government Should Provide To Citizens
In order to determine what goods and services the government should provide to its
citizens, it is important to understand the reason why the government, whether it is
federal, state or local play a significant role in providing goods and services to its
citizens. After conducting my research, the primary reason is that it is economically
feasible and cost effective for the governmentto provide these goods and services to
ensure that all citizens are fairly receiving the basic needs for survival. In the United
Statesof America, the government is responsible for protecting and serving all
citizens; therefore, the goods or services provided to all citizens are non rivalrous
and non excludable. According to our textbook, goods and services... Show more

For instance, our National Defense and National Parks are two good examples of non
rivalrous and non excludable goods and services. Therefore, the government is in a
position to ensure that every citizen reaps the benefits, preventing the deprivation of
use due to the inability to pay and other discriminatory factors in our society.
Nevertheless, the true reality is that certain goods or services value is greater than
one person can afford; therefore, our collective tax payments allow the government to
pay these goods and services on our behalf, not burdening one individual citizen to
pay the full amount. We must keep in mind that non rivalrous and non excludable
goods and services are essential in building strong, healthy communities while
strengthening our economic survival. Although it is important for the state
government to provide non rivalrous and non excludable goods and services that
educate our children, repair roads and bridges, provide healthcare, and serve and
protect our communities, the inequality of the distribution demeans and oppresses
the citizens residing in disadvantaged communities. For instance, although
disadvantaged families receive these goods and services, the level of quality are not
equal to the middle class or wealthier
Ahwahnee Hotel Case Summary
The iconic Ahwahnee Hotel sign stolen on eve of Yosemite name changes due to

The 15 year, $2 billion contract was granted to Aramark instead. DNC sued the
federal government, arguing that it needs to be compensated $51 million, majorly
for trademarked the company filled on merchandise and other facilities it operates.
The government said that fees are too high but, DNC countered that they been
forced to pay $61.5 million when it first took over the contract from the previous
concessionaire, mainly for trademarks. The only solution that I could see in this is
legal battle is paying of those fees so that Yosemite National Park can keep its
name. Yosemite National Park is in a legal fight with DNC Parks Resorts at
Yosemite, Inc., a concessionaire at the park that has operated its hotels, trail rides,
and more since 1993. DNC is part of Buffalo based Delaware North, and operates
facilities in other parks and venues around the world. The legal battle started when
DNC lost its lucrative 15 year $2 billion contract to a subsidiary of Aramark. In
September of 2015, DNC sued the federal government arguing that it needed $51
million in compensation, mostly for trademarks the company filed on merchandise
and other facilities it operated.
Influences In Edgar Allen Poe s Work
Edgar Allen Poe and his poems have influenced many people and writers. People
from all ages can read Poe s work. Poe s work are used in schools from elementary,
high school, and colleges. Personally I have started reading Poe s work in seventh
grade. The first time I have read him I was confused and when the teacher
explained his work, it all clicked right into my head. Poems like The Raven and
Annabel Lee are very dark and gloomy and his personality is dark and he is gloomy.
Poe has a mysterious appearance. Poe has influenced many readers and he was very
famous in his life.

order to find a job. Soon after getting expelled, Poe left West Point for New York.
Poe got his first job as an editor for the Southern Literary Messenger in 1836. A
year later Poe got married to Virginia Clemm when she was thirteen and Poe was
twenty seven. In 1839, Poe worked as an editor at Burton s Gentleman s Magazine.
He shortly left to try and start his own magazine. Virginia ruptured a blood vessel
and her health fell down in 1842 (Mark 9). When Poe released the The Raven , it
got him extremely famous which led to him getting good money. The year of 1847
was a very hard time for Poe because Virginia died that year. On September 27th, Poe
took a steamer to Baltimore on his way to New York. Poe was apparently found
senseless and drunk in a parking lot. He was taken to a hospital where he died a

Poe was a very successful man. He earned his nickname Father of the Detective

Baleen Whales Research Paper
Baleen whales are known as a whalebone. They also live in the Southern
Hemisphere. The meaning of Baleen is made out of keratin, the same protein that
makes up our fingernails and hair. They make up one of two whale suborders within
the cetacean family.
Baleen whales are mammals, which means that they are warm blooded and breathe
air using their lungs. That sounds interesting considering that they live in ocean
waters, but they have two blowholes at the top of their body that allows them to
breathe when they reach the surface of the water. As mammals, they also give birth
to a live animal, called a whale calf. Unlike humans, who can take around one year
to learn how to walk, whale calves are born already able to swim.

Once relentlessly hunted by commercial industries for these products, cetaceans are
now protected by international law.
There are currently 86 recognized species of whales, dolphins, and porpoises. 14
are Mysticetes or baleen whales. These whales feed using a filtering system made
up of baleen plates, which allow the whale to feed on large quantities of prey at once
while filtering out sea water.
The baleen whales (Mysticeti) are characterized by baleen, a sieve like structure in
the upper jaw made of the tough, structural protein keratin. The baleen is used to
filter plankton from the water. Baleen whales are also characterized by two blowholes.
In terms of social structure, baleen whales are known to be quite solitary in nature
often traveling alone or in small groups.Communication among baleen whales
involves loud low pitched moans and whines, and physical gestures such as spy
hopping, lob tailing, breaching and charging. In spite of their enormous mass, baleen
whales are able to leap completely out of the water. Particularly known for their
acrobatics are the humpback whales, but other baleen whales also break through the

Pericles Vs Alcibiades
The Traditional Period of Greece, 500 338 BCE, cleared a path to a wide range of
changes in Athenian history. The Athenian government transformed from an
oppression to a vote based system, and after the Persian war in 499 BCE, Athens
begun to turned into a military superpower, also. Because of Themistocles supporting
to construct a more grounded naval force, their military influence developed, making
Athens economy rise turning into the wealthiest city states. The Peloponnesian War
drew out the significance of lawmakers and pioneers, since now the administration is
controlled by the general population. This war brought two of the most noticeable
and powerful people to lead Athens through the war and molded Athens future. The
two pioneers are cousins, Periclesand Alcibiades. They have various similitudes,
similar to their genealogy and instruction, while additionally using their interesting
identities in their authority abilities.
One of the major, and self evident, similitudes between the two Athenians is that they
originate from a similar ancestry. Both Pericles and Alcibiades moms were from the
honorable family Alcmaeonidae. The Alcmaeonidae were additionally substantial
engaged with legislative issues. Their close families were essential to Athenian
history also. Pericles is the child of Xanthippus and Agariste. Xanthippus became
well known by [defeating] the Persian general of Mycale . While his mom s uncle,

Film Analysis Of Edward Scissorhands
Tim Burton s Edward Scissorhands film was nothing less than phenomenal from all
perspectives. The moral is not to judge someone based off appearances or on the
basis that they are different from you. This was all achieved by using cinematic
elements such as lighting, sound, camera an gles, and wardrobe. This films message
really made the audience think and feel as if they were playing a role in the movie
themselves. The fantasy film Edward Scissorhandsoffers insight into reality using
immoderation, to show people s prejudices, which were created by the deficiency of
knowledge amongst the towns people. The first technique that plays a key factor in
the moral of this film is the lighting, the lighting changes throughout the film to
capture emotion, especially from the audience. In the opening scenes of Edward
Scissorhands the lighting is darker, also a lot of low light to show spookiness or
mystery. When Peg has her first encounter with Edward in his mansion on the hill
there is a use on low light on Edward to spark danger, although it wasn t until he
comes fully out of the dark corner in the attic to reveal that he is a innocent looking
boy. Edward also softly told Peg to not leave even though she was frightened, which
catered to his innocence. Throughout the movie the lighting remains neutral, showing
that everything is in full color, except for some in stances at the end. It is not until
Edward gets in trouble for Kim, the daughter of Peg who he is love with. At this

With all the scripts and technology today, it s easier than you think! Here are 7 steps
to starting a blog that will get you going:
1. Decide What You Want Your Blog To Be About
The first thing you need to decide is what you will blog about. Do you want a general

problem. But the truth is it is not the guns it is the people. They say that guns are the
things that kill people but let s be honest guns can t kill people. It the the person
behind the gun. A gun is an object that can not move so tell me how it can killpeople?
A guncan stay on a table for a million years and ever hurt one person. Because last
time i checked a gun can not pick up its self up and shoot someone. But remember
that time where a truck driver drove throw a celebration in Paris. But you don t see
the government making us wait 8 days to get a car no we sign some papers pay for
the car and you drive it home without a background check or even anything. Now i
can not saying to do a background check every time someone bought a car.... Show

But no people say that is totally different but in reality it is not. A car can stay in a
parking spot for a million of years and never harm one person but ones someone
gets in the car and drives it to someone to kill them then people say the person did
it, and that it is all there fault but why do we not do the same with guns a gun will
never kill one person but it is the person behind the gun that is the one. They are the
one that puts a bullet in inside the gun and the one that ames it and fires it at the
person to kill them. Then is when the government goes and states that guns kill
people. But is a car or airplane do the same things but you never see the world say
that they are guilty. Yes i know that guns have a huge history with the united states
and even the world because it is a weapon of
A Family Of Five Were The First Group Shot
A family of five were in the first group shot. A gray haired elderly woman cradled a
baby. The child couldn t have been more than three months old. She was singing and
tickling the little one to keep her from crying. The baby cooed with delight. Everyone
was standing around with tears in their eyes.
A father holding the hand of his six year old spoke softly to him. The boy wept
from fear. His father stroked the boy s head and pointed to the skies. It was as
though he was explaining something to him. The machine guns opened up. They and
others fell backward into the dry riverbed.
There was an elderly frail snow white haired woman. Others helped her undress to
the shouts of the insurgent s to hurry up. Two young women helped carry her to her
place in line in front of the makeshift grave.
A young couple held each other tightly. Their wedding day was the following
weekend. Looking into each other s eyes, the man spoke tenderly to her. He told her
about how their families had arranged a nearby hotel for their honeymoon. Now they
lay together in a cold, uncaring hollow in the ground. About thirty people at a time
they led to the slaughter.
When the little girl s turn, came. As she made her way to the pit, she saw a mound
of bodies tightly wedged together. In the distance, she heard screams from other
people being killed a little way away. The terrorists dragged their blood covered
bodies over to the riverbed and dumped them in on top of the others.

Domestic And International Policy Formulation Essay
At the core of both domestic and international policy formulation is the underlying
issue of the financial enrichment of the state structure and the individual. It is
undeniable that significant transformation of global economic norms has occurred
since the advent of the neoliberal age in the mid 1970s, and the subsequent
promotion of government non intervention, deregulation and trade liberalisation.
New Zealand s is no exception to this trend, and our transition from British colony
to independent constitutional monarchy with a unique set of values, ideologies
and national identity has paved the way for our nation to branch out into the newly
expanded global market. Indeed, the development of New Zealand s domestic
economy and trade policy has undergone a seismic shift which has drastically
altered our national patterns of trade since 1929. While export trade to the East is
still in its infancy, it is becoming increasingly clear that there is a growing demand
in the East for New Zealand agricultural products such as wool, meat, and dairy
products. This essay aims to use the analysis provided by McNair in his article New
Zealand s Trade with the East as a comparative tool to describe the transition of the
Eastern global region from one of New Zealand s least influential markets, to one of
its greatest. Furthermore, it aims to examine which economic theory best explains
this increase in instances of trade over time, namely that of the Product Cycle Theory.

History Of Druidism
There seems to be a lot of conflicting information as to where exactly Druidism
originates and what sort of practices they experienced. Most of what was learned of
Druidism was communicated orally, which is a major reason I believe as to why
there is so many missing elements or inconsistent information. Across the board
people mainly agree that it began in Europe. From some writings of Julius Caesar,
people had believed it began in Britain. Druidism is a religionthat is practiced by the
Celts or Celtic people. The genealogy of the Druids begins roughly 25,000 years ago
when any of the first demonstration of any sacred or spiritual practices were
discovered in Europe (The order of Bards Ovates and Druids, A Brief History of
Druidry, par 1).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After my research I have found that Druidry is more of a spiritual path than
anything, concentrating mostly on being animists (the belief that nature is
enlivened or energized by distinct personalized spirit beings separate from bodies).
Druids tend to rejoice and meditate outside becoming one with nature, though this
is not the only way for the Druids (The Order of Bards Ovates and Druids, Druid
Beliefs, par 2). Since the core motivation of this group is nature...they consider
themselves to be healers and teachers, this is one thing that all who follow Druidism
have in common, but not all Druids have the same set of beliefs as far as whether a
God is involved. After learning about monotheism, animists and polytheism in
Chapter 13 of our Cultural Anthropology textbook just recently, I had also learned
that there are monotheistic and polytheistic Druids. Monotheism being the belief of
only one supremely powerful divinity as creator and master of the universe and
polytheism being the belief in multiple gods or goddesses (Cultural Anthropology:

Masters Bank At Chase Analysis
Masters bank at Chase
In April of this year, Chase started featuring ads about its news product offer. As Oster
reports: In the 60 second anthem ad, featuring Serena Williams, fencing champion
Tim Morehouse and The Rockettes, McGarrybowen contrasts the years these
individuals took honing their craft with the seconds it takes to the moments it takes
to pay bills at Chase.com, depositing checks at Chase ATMs and transferring funds
using the bank s mobile app. There s also a 90 second online spot profiling The
Rockettes, including what goes into each performance and the years of intense
dance training it took the performers to get where they are. Since the dancers only
get one day off a week, using Chase s consumer banking products help them
multitask and pay their bills backstage. A 30 second spot, recycling some of the
footage from the anthem ad, takes a look at Chase s role in Morehouse s routine
(Oster, 2015, para 2).
From an aesthetical perspective, the Chase Masters campaign was a success. Serena
Williams s fingernails were painted Chase blue; the celebrities bring to the fore the
target market of Chase: young, vibrant successful and most likely High Potential and
High Balance customers (Rodriguez, 2015, para. 4). Obviously, marketing
consultants had segmentation and target market right. Chase aims to be the bank of
masters, this is a bank that invested immensely to cater to the cream of the crop.
There are some flaws to the campaign, though, and this IMC

Gender Depiction in Horror Films Essay
Gender Depiction in Horror Films
There has been a large variety of horror films produced throughout the last fifty
years. People are always going to be frightened and scared by different types of
horror films. But, what type of horror film scares more people, and were men or
women more frightened by these horror films? Each one of the horror films had its
own agenda to frighten its audience using several different methods of horror. Some
of these methods were more so directed at the female audience than the male
audience. Most horror movies show the female as being vulnerable, because in real
life females are defenseless against monsters.

It all goes back to the Perils of Pauline? If you have a haunted house and you have a
woman walking around with a candelabrum, you fear more for her than you would

instead of men defenseless in horror films more entertaining. Even if the women are
displayed as being more defenseless than men most of the time, in some cases there
will be someone that ends up saving them in the end.
Are women singled out to be killed more in slasher films?
The first big stalker film stalker film to come out was John Carpenter?s Halloween
in 1978. Halloween took a reported $325,000 to be made and grossed over $80
million world wide up until 1987. This gave Halloween one of the highest
proportional returns in film history (Waller, p. 87). The first film to copy its
narrative and cinematic structure was Friday the 13th . I believe that younger
community and women are the target market for stalker films like Halloween.
Vera Dika writes, ??R rated films were frequented by adolescents between the ages
of 12 and 17, and these films of excessive violence against women found an
audience that was 55 percent female? (Waller, p. 87). Horror movies portray women
as vulnerable a lot of the time. Especially in slasher movies, women are often
incapable of defending themselves against a stronger horror film type villain. It is
almost like they are waiting to be victimized.

I landed soma pills packet on his hand and intimated a few precautionary measures of

eagerly waited for its results. To my surprise, his health had restored entirely.
Specific Phobia Essay
Transient fears for certain objects or situations are common. However when fear is
extreme and disproportionate to the threat posed by specific stimuli that is avoided
or endured under duress, it is characterised as a specific phobia (APA, 2013). The
common types of specific phobia are animal, e.g., dogs, spiders; natural environment,
e.g., water, heights; blood, injection or injury (BII), e.g., dental phobia, medical
procedures; situational, e.g., elevators, flying; and other miscellaneous phobiassuch as
clowns, fearof choking. While debilitating, specific phobias are the most treatable of
psychiatric disorders, however many people do not seek treatment because of their
fear of being confronted with the feared stimuli (Wolitzky Taylor, Horowitz, Powers
Telch, 2008).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

First, the ruling class of Sadducees. The Sadducees are held in an unpopular light
due to their reputation as rulers rather than leaders. Their name come from the
Hebrew word tsaddiqim meaning righteous ones. The Sadducees were the elites of
the Jewish communities and were heavily involved with the temple. Their
responsibilities pertaining to the temple were to perform priestly functions and to
maintain the temple itself. Due to their affluence and avaricious behavior, the
Sadducees created a pseudo monopoly of the temple. Their priestly roles allowed
for individuals to conduct exchanges in their favor. Their duties included daily
offerings of sacrifices at the temple and presiding over the sacrifices of Passover,

Influence Of Food On Society
The Influence of Food on Human Society Food is the largest factor in the changes
of humanity, making life what it is today. From the places people live to the ideas
and beliefs of the public, food is responsible for many people s outlook on life. In
the book, An Edible History of Humanity written by Tom Standage, the history of
food and how it shaped the world are displayed. Food has had many political and
social influences on society, ultimately changing the world. The political and social
impacts of food are very similar on society when examining the globalization in the
world, caution about planting and eating different foods, and the competition between
people, but food also has many contrasting effects on society such as the freedoms
given to people, the spreading of wealth and power throughout a community, and the
population of the world today. Primarily, the globalization in society can be traced
back to food s influence on European exploration and the cultural connection created
during the airlifts into West Germany. Beginning in the 15th century, countries in
Europe had a political race to explore the unknown world. Once arriving in foreign
lands, explorers discovered unique cropsonly located in these areas. The foods
unique to these places sparked interest in countries and encouraged them to send
expeditions to these new locations. As the search for new and different foods
spanned the globe, people, beliefs, and culture from these places were spread
Essay on Sir John Reith
Sir John Reith Sir John Reith was the first Director General of the BBC, and he had
particularly strong views on broadcasting as having a cultural and moral
responsibility as a means of educating and informing the masses. He once famously
stated
It is occasionally indicated to us that we are apparently setting out to give the public
what we think they need and not what they want but few know what they want and
very few what they need. In any case it is better to overestimate the mentality of the
public than to underestimate it. He who prides himself on giving what he thinks the

The idea of the BBC as a public service meant that the provision should be public
goods rather than a private commodity (Curran, 2000). The funding of the service was
based upon the license fee and their agreement with parliament, and this was decided
when it was felt that advertising could limit the number of programmes they would
be able to broadcast. They maintained the view that our responsibility is to carry into
the greatest possible number of homes, everything that is best in every department of
human knowledge, endeavour, or achievement (cited in Smith, 1998).
That the BBC kept a firm degree of independence from the government was always
at the forefront of Reith s aims, and the fact that it also gained a reputation for its
impartiality meant that it came to be, and to some extent, still is a respected
institution throughout the world. Nowadays, the BBC still pride themselves on
being free of commercial interests and political bias (2002).
During his reign on the BBC throne, Reith came under much criticism on his views of
overestimating the mentality of the public, and providing a service that contained the
matters that he thought should be most important to society. He was often accused of
being elitist in his approach to programming policy. Many of the working class began
to feel alienated by the
Compare And Contrast Max Weber And Fayol
In this essay, I have chosen to discuss how Max Weber (1864 1920) and Henri
Fayol (1841 1925) compare and contrast in their ideology and contributions to the
field of management. Max Weber focused on how to structure an organisation to
become successful. He developed six main elements to promote this success, which
he considered would develop efficiency. He called it bureaucracy. Bureaucracy has its
advantages and disadvantages, it was considered to be both rational and efficient
(Tiernan, Morley, 2013, p. 17), but for example Weber s rather strict division of
labour also led to workers becoming bored and unmotivated. The six elements that he
created were; Division of labour, Hierarchy, Selection, Career orientation,
Formalisation and Impersonality.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two have been compared and contrasted above throughout and from that we can
deduce they exclude the concept of the external environment effecting an
organisation, which is not the case. This is why there is no one theorist with the
complete solution to success in an organisation, but both of these men have hugely
affected the work place for everyone since their work has been recognised. They
agree upon the importance of the division of labour, the idea of a hierarchy and rules
within an organisation. In contrast to this they handle such matters as equity and
impersonality, which are similar concepts, very differently as stated. Fayol was more
personal than Weber; he embraced team work and initiative in employees. These
points I have brought up show a clear comparison yet slight contrast between the
theorists, and I have shown this throughout as to how they have contributed in the
field of

Symbols In Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train
Symbols in Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train
Throughout all of Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train Symbols are used to show
a character s true personality and to help get the reader emotionally invested in a
character as well as revealing more about the characters past. Four examples of
symbols in the novel are Vivian s Claddagh, Molly s turtle tattoo and necklace as
well as Vivian s attic. A good example of how symbols are used in the novel is
Vivian s Claddagh from her grandmother. The Claddagh consists of a heart, a crown
and a pair of hands. The heart represents love, the crown represents loyalty and the
hands represent friendship. Vivian only truly begins to show these traits when she
moves in with the Nielsen s and she meets with Dutchy once again. She only shows
two of the three traits to the Nielsen s, loyalty and friendship which is shown when
she says, What I feel for the Nielsens gratitude, respect, appreciation isn t the same

Mel Watkins, a New York Times book critic, agrees with this statement when he
writes in his critical review that black American heroes in Walker s novel
withstood the gaudiest abuse a racist, sexist society could offer (Literature
Lovers). Watkin s claim about the novel is unquestionable because readers of The
Color Purple are exposed to hard working women who attempt to overcome their
obstacles brought to them by the male figures in their lives. Watkin also writes that
the author s story provoked controversy about Walker s portrayal of black men,
which many found offensive and one dimensional (Literature Lovers). The Color
Purple can be seen as offensive and one dimensional because people can interpret
the author s words as saying: all black men are vituperative. This is not true.
Walker is simply trying to demonstrate that it is common for men to be in charge of
their wives and be dominative over them in the 1900s (and even today). Watkin
simply praises the novel s spark of controversy surrounding very sensitive topics.
For Celie, men like Alfonso, Mr.___, and Harpo were all African American men
who continuously put her down and gave her a hard time. This does not change
until Celie displays her character development in her final letter to God. The Color
Purple opens the eyes of the previously blind into the world s aspect of an oppressive

  • 1. Essay About Human Development Crafting an essay on the subject of human development is a challenging yet enriching endeavor that requires a delicate balance of research, critical thinking, and articulate expression. The complexity of this topic lies in its interdisciplinary nature, encompassing elements from psychology, sociology, biology, and even philosophy. To embark on such a task, one must delve into the extensive literature on human development, navigating through theories proposed by renowned psychologists, sociologists, and scholars who have dedicated their careers to unraveling the intricacies of the human growth process. Understanding the multitude of factors that contribute to individual and collective development, including biological, psychological, social, and environmental aspects, demands a comprehensive exploration of diverse sources. Furthermore, the challenge lies not only in synthesizing existing knowledge but also in critically evaluating and integrating various perspectives. Developing a coherent and well-structured argument requires the ability to discern between conflicting theories, identify gaps in research, and form a nuanced understanding that goes beyond superficial explanations. Expressing these insights effectively in writing adds another layer of difficulty. Translating complex ideas into a clear and engaging narrative requires a mastery of language and an adeptness at organizing thoughts. • 2. Lab Safety Code At Biosafety Labs Chemistry laboratories pose a threat to the consumer; however, they also affect the researcher. A young Singaporean researcher contracted Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) through an experiment that had gone wrong. At first many people thought he was sickened with this disease because there was a SARS crisis all around Asia; however, that was not the case. In the article, SARS Experts want Labs to Improve Safety Practices, the researcher claimed that he didn t have the background to understand how to handle dangerous agents. Due to the chemistrylab, the researcher was injured. This then formulated an international problem in which the national legislation instructed a very detailed safety code at biosafety labs. Many amateur experimenters do not know lab safety by heart so they tend to perform dangerous actions that may lead to injuries or death depending on how potentially dangerous the experiment is. In my personal experiences, I have seen many improper lab practices in which I helped teach people how to correctly perform these actions. This includes adding acids to water and not the reverse way because acids may bubble and splash everywhere, pouring liquids from small containers to big containers unless a valve is available is favored because it is easier to spill the content from a big container into the small container, and to wear close toed shoes in order to prevent falling dangerous materials from making contact with skin. As one may see, there are very
  • 3. Britney Spears as Role Model for All Women Essay Britney Spears prevalence as a pre teen pop culture icon cannot be denied or ignored. Spears, along with her colleagues Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore and many others, are ever present on the Top 40, make frequent appearances on MTV, and can often be found on magazine covers and in photo spreads. Spearsis especially popular among pre teen girls, who buy her records, singing and dancing along to the lyrics. These lyrics often deal with love, lust, and sex topics some consider too mature for the young girlstargeted by Spears marketing. Young womentoday are maturing at increasingly earlier ages, and the sexual messages in Spears songs may simply be satisfying an existing demand for these types of songs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When speaking about early pop music songs, she explains although they were mass produced they were individually interpreted. The songs were ours but the were also everyone else s...we found solidarity as girls (499). This certainly holds true for Spears songs. Spears is often criticized for having mass produced songs that someone else wrote for her. However, these songs have mass appeal which Douglas considers a strength. Pre teen girls, in the midst of forging an identity among their peers can certainly find solidarity by singing out the words to Hit Me Baby One More Time together. At the very least, Spears music will serve to unite women twenty years from now who will still know all the words to the catchy tunes as they play over the oldies radio station. At the same time, depending on each girl s individual knowledge and experience, the songs will be interpreted differently. The lyrics give voice to a range of emotions that girls may have and be unable to express otherwise. Another positive quality of pop music is that it can give conflicting emotions a voice, something that can aid in the process of growing up. As Douglas put it, girl groups gave voice to all the warring selves inside us struggling, blindly and with a crushing sense of insecurity, to forge something resembling a coherent identity...girl group music let us try on and act out a host of
  • 4. Al-Ghazali The Banking Concept Of Education Al Ghazali, an Islamic philosopher, shared his thoughts on education in his work Manners to be Observed by Teachers and Students. The writing was published in (insert date), and Ghazali argues that education should be intertwined with religion. In his essay titled Manners , both student and teacher were to follow a list of duties. Students were to follow the list not only to obtain knowledge, but to know God. The role of a teacher was to lead students to the path of righteousness. Manners put teachers in a position of power, in a similar way to what Freire was arguing in The Banking Concept of Education. Al Ghazali put teachers in a position of superiority to students. Students were expected to be submissive to their teachers and not take pride or exalt himself... entrust him to the conduct of all his affairs (25). Al Ghazali s vocabulary throughout the essay is derogatory towards the students. While reading the essay words such as duty (63) and submit (25). Al Ghazali looks to God to run the classroom, explaining in the essay that both students and teachers work for God. The ideology brainwashes students to forget their own thoughts and opinions to meet the expectations of Ghazali s duties. A punishment is in place for those who veer off the path of the... Freire states that the current education system suffers from narration sickness (63). He continues by saying that students are containers (63) that receive information given to them by their teacher. The students receive the information without hesitation, causing them to lose their own thoughts, opinions, morals, etc. Freire argues that The Banking Concept teaches information that is distant from reality, and can be combated with an education on real world
  • 5. Essay on Sin City Sin City Two years ago my husband, myself and another couple visited Las Vegas, which is better known as sin city. Las Vegas is the biggest city in Nevada. Neon glittered hotels make up the general landscaping, which is otherwise a flat valley with a mountaintop background. The city is quite compact for tourism purposes, even though according to Frommer s, Vegasis considered one of the fastest growing cities in America. Gambling is the central focus of Vegas, and casinosare abundant, but if gambling is not your thing there are plenty of other attractions to do and see. Vegas is made up of two distinct areas the Strip, and Downtown. The Strip, is considered the most famous four mile stretch of highway in the nation. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is also a lounge, which we visited and watched a one man show singing old Neil Diamond songs. Not our speed, but a hit with the older casino crowd resting their slot burned eyes. The hotel also offers a buffet. For a reasonable price you get a huge assortment of mediocre food, which fills you up for most of the day. We ate at the buffet in the morning and did not need to eat again until late at night, which is the way to go if you are saving money for all the other activities. Compared to the giant new hotels on the strip the Imperial Palace seems seedy, but it is nicely kept, and as I said before a bargain. There are many different ways to get around Vegas if you do not have your own car; public transportation, taxis, and a monorail are just a few. We boarded the monorail at the neighboring Bally s and rode it all the way to MGM. The monorail is a nice way to travel from one end of the strip to the other, but unfortunately bypasses the casinos in between. They are currently adding to the monorail to include numerous stops, which will be a great benefit for tourists. The gradual legalization has made marijuana a hot topic, both for its recreational uses and medicinal properties. Explain Why The Government Should Provide To Citizens In order to determine what goods and services the government should provide to its citizens, it is important to understand the reason why the government, whether it is federal, state or local play a significant role in providing goods and services to its citizens. After conducting my research, the primary reason is that it is economically feasible and cost effective for the governmentto provide these goods and services to ensure that all citizens are fairly receiving the basic needs for survival. In the United Statesof America, the government is responsible for protecting and serving all citizens; therefore, the goods or services provided to all citizens are non rivalrous and non excludable. For instance, our National Defense and National Parks are two good examples of non rivalrous and non excludable goods and services. Therefore, the government is in a position to ensure that every citizen reaps the benefits, preventing the deprivation of use due to the inability to pay and other discriminatory factors in our society. Nevertheless, the true reality is that certain goods or services value is greater than one person can afford; therefore, our collective tax payments allow the government to pay these goods and services on our behalf, not burdening one individual citizen to pay the full amount. We must keep in mind that non rivalrous and non excludable goods and services are essential in building strong, healthy communities while strengthening our economic survival. Although it is important for the state government to provide non rivalrous and non excludable goods and services that educate our children, repair roads and bridges, provide healthcare, and serve and protect our communities, the inequality of the distribution demeans and oppresses the citizens residing in disadvantaged communities. For instance, although disadvantaged families receive these goods and services, the level of quality are not equal to the middle class or wealthier

Domestic And International Policy Formulation Essay At the core of both domestic and international policy formulation is the underlying issue of the financial enrichment of the state structure and the individual. It is undeniable that significant transformation of global economic norms has occurred since the advent of the neoliberal age in the mid 1970s, and the subsequent promotion of government non intervention, deregulation and trade liberalisation. New Zealand s is no exception to this trend, and our transition from British colony to independent constitutional monarchy with a unique set of values, ideologies and national identity has paved the way for our nation to branch out into the newly expanded global market. Indeed, the development of New Zealand s domestic economy and trade policy has undergone a seismic shift which has drastically altered our national patterns of trade since 1929. While export trade to the East is still in its infancy, it is becoming increasingly clear that there is a growing demand in the East for New Zealand agricultural products such as wool, meat, and dairy products. This essay aims to use the analysis provided by McNair in his article New Zealand s Trade with the East as a comparative tool to describe the transition of the Eastern global region from one of New Zealand s least influential markets, to one of its greatest. Furthermore, it aims to examine which economic theory best explains this increase in instances of trade over time, namely that of the Product Cycle Theory. As such, the

From an aesthetical perspective, the Chase Masters campaign was a success. Serena Williams s fingernails were painted Chase blue; the celebrities bring to the fore the target market of Chase: young, vibrant successful and most likely High Potential and High Balance customers (Rodriguez, 2015, para. 4). Obviously, marketing consultants had segmentation and target market right. Chase aims to be the bank of masters, this is a bank that invested immensely to cater to the cream of the crop. People are always going to be frightened and scared by different types of horror films. But, what type of horror film scares more people, and were men or women more frightened by these horror films? Each one of the horror films had its own agenda to frighten its audience using several different methods of horror. Some of these methods were more so directed at the female audience than the male audience. • 35. Influence Of Food On Society The Influence of Food on Human Society Food is the largest factor in the changes of humanity, making life what it is today. From the places people live to the ideas and beliefs of the public, food is responsible for many people s outlook on life. In the book, An Edible History of Humanity written by Tom Standage, the history of food and how it shaped the world are displayed. Food has had many political and social influences on society, ultimately changing the world. The political and social impacts of food are very similar on society when examining the globalization in the world, caution about planting and eating different foods, and the competition between people, but food also has many contrasting effects on society such as the freedoms given to people, the spreading of wealth and power throughout a community, and the population of the world today. Primarily, the globalization in society can be traced back to food s influence on European exploration and the cultural connection created during the airlifts into West Germany. Beginning in the 15th century, countries in Europe had a political race to explore the unknown world. Once arriving in foreign lands, explorers discovered unique cropsonly located in these areas. The foods unique to these places sparked interest in countries and encouraged them to send expeditions to these new locations. As the search for new and different foods spanned the globe, people, beliefs, and culture from these places were spread
  • 36. Essay on Sir John Reith Sir John Reith Sir John Reith was the first Director General of the BBC, and he had particularly strong views on broadcasting as having a cultural and moral responsibility as a means of educating and informing the masses. He once famously stated It is occasionally indicated to us that we are apparently setting out to give the public what we think they need and not what they want but few know what they want and very few what they need. In any case it is better to overestimate the mentality of the public than to underestimate it. He who prides himself on giving what he thinks the public wants is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea of the BBC as a public service meant that the provision should be public goods rather than a private commodity (Curran, 2000). The funding of the service was based upon the license fee and their agreement with parliament, and this was decided when it was felt that advertising could limit the number of programmes they would be able to broadcast. They maintained the view that our responsibility is to carry into the greatest possible number of homes, everything that is best in every department of human knowledge, endeavour, or achievement (cited in Smith, 1998). That the BBC kept a firm degree of independence from the government was always at the forefront of Reith s aims, and the fact that it also gained a reputation for its impartiality meant that it came to be, and to some extent, still is a respected institution throughout the world. Nowadays, the BBC still pride themselves on being free of commercial interests and political bias (2002). During his reign on the BBC throne, Reith came under much criticism on his views of overestimating the mentality of the public, and providing a service that contained the matters that he thought should be most important to society. He was often accused of being elitist in his approach to programming policy. Many of the working class began to feel alienated by the
  • 37. Compare And Contrast Max Weber And Fayol In this essay, I have chosen to discuss how Max Weber (1864 1920) and Henri Fayol (1841 1925) compare and contrast in their ideology and contributions to the field of management. Max Weber focused on how to structure an organisation to become successful. He developed six main elements to promote this success, which he considered would develop efficiency. He called it bureaucracy. Bureaucracy has its advantages and disadvantages, it was considered to be both rational and efficient (Tiernan, Morley, 2013, p. 17), but for example Weber s rather strict division of labour also led to workers becoming bored and unmotivated. The six elements that he created were; Division of labour, Hierarchy, Selection, Career orientation, Formalisation and Impersonality.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two have been compared and contrasted above throughout and from that we can deduce they exclude the concept of the external environment effecting an organisation, which is not the case. This is why there is no one theorist with the complete solution to success in an organisation, but both of these men have hugely affected the work place for everyone since their work has been recognised. They agree upon the importance of the division of labour, the idea of a hierarchy and rules within an organisation. In contrast to this they handle such matters as equity and impersonality, which are similar concepts, very differently as stated. Fayol was more personal than Weber; he embraced team work and initiative in employees. These points I have brought up show a clear comparison yet slight contrast between the theorists, and I have shown this throughout as to how they have contributed in the field of

Symbols In Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train Symbols in Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train Throughout all of Christina Baker Kline s Orphan Train Symbols are used to show a character s true personality and to help get the reader emotionally invested in a character as well as revealing more about the characters past. Four examples of symbols in the novel are Vivian s Claddagh, Molly s turtle tattoo and necklace as well as Vivian s attic. A good example of how symbols are used in the novel is Vivian s Claddagh from her grandmother. The Claddagh consists of a heart, a crown and a pair of hands. The heart represents love, the crown represents loyalty and the hands represent friendship. Vivian only truly begins to show these traits when she moves in with the Nielsen s and she meets with Dutchy once again. She only shows two of the three traits to the Nielsen s, loyalty and friendship which is shown when she says, What I feel for the Nielsens gratitude, respect, appreciation isn t the same as a child s love for her parents (Baker Kline 183). Mel Watkins, a New York Times book critic, agrees with this statement when he writes in his critical review that black American heroes in Walker s novel withstood the gaudiest abuse a racist, sexist society could offer (Literature Lovers). Watkin s claim about the novel is unquestionable because readers of The Color Purple are exposed to hard working women who attempt to overcome their obstacles brought to them by the male figures in their lives. Watkin also writes that the author s story provoked controversy about Walker s portrayal of black men, which many found offensive and one dimensional (Literature Lovers). The Color Purple can be seen as offensive and one dimensional because people can interpret the author s words as saying: all black men are vituperative. This is not true. Walker is simply trying to demonstrate that it is common for men to be in charge of their wives and be dominative over them in the 1900s (and even today). Watkin simply praises the novel s spark of controversy surrounding very sensitive topics. For Celie, men like Alfonso, Mr.___, and Harpo were all African American men who continuously put her down and gave her a hard time. This does not change until Celie displays her character development in her final letter to God. The Color Purple opens the eyes of the previously blind into the world s aspect of an oppressive
