The End Of The Week
The end of the week had finally come; it was a warm Friday in September. This
was not just going to be any ordinary Friday, however, because I was going to my
friend s house for a bon fire. Little did I know that a series of unfortunate events was
about to unravel in my very own neighborhood. My house being located just a half
mile down the road from Laurel highlands high school, where I attended school, was
always the perfect place to grow up. The neighborhood was filled with older
couples, so there was never much excitement. It seemed like a relatively safe place
to live. I could have never dreamed that this day would end the way it did. But,
after a several hour standoff occurring in the white colonial style house just one
street down from mine, my exciting day planned ahead of me had ended. The day
was almost over, only having three more periods before I would ride the bus home
and get ready for the fun night ahead. Since it was a nice day out, our gym class
had gone outside to either walk on the track or play flag football. It was about half
way through the period when coach Buehner came sprinting down mustang drive
and yelled, Mr. Dunham, the kids need to come back up to the school. I was
talking to my friend Chad while heading off the football field and we were
wondering if there was an activity planned, or what other reason why we were
heading back to school half way through the period. On the way walking up the
steep, mustang drive I passed Nick, one of my
Arrow Of God And Smoke Signals
Arrow of God and Smoke Signals have similar patterns of fiction, archetypes and
philosophies. If you notice Campells typical hero sequence of actions can be
detected in both Arrow of God and Smoke Signals. There is a certain typical hero
sequence of actions which can be detected in stories from all over the world from
many periods of history. Essentially, it might even be said there is but one archetypal
mythic herowhose life has been replicated in many lands by many people.
(Archetypes pg 6) This sequence is made apparent in Arrow of God. The birth of
Ezeulu is unusual because he is born into priesthood. This priesthood later requires
him to travel to Okperi. While in Okperi, Ezeulu confronts his ego simultaneously
while conflicting with the imposing British Government. Ezeulu then returns to
Umuaro having been reborn psychologically.
Campells typical hero sequence holds truth in Smoke Signals as well. Victor s
unusual birth in Smoke Signals is symbolic; he is saved from a tragic house fire as
a young baby. This house fire is the same event that drives his father away from the
Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. Inevitably this later requires Victor to leave home
and confront his ego while retrieving his father s remains.
In both Arrow of God and Smoke Signals the events after the heroes birth are
considerably unusual. This unusual birth is later the motive for the hero to leave
home which ultimately results in the heroes confronting their egos. The heroes then

How To Date A Brown Girl By Junot Diaz
How to Date a Brown Girl by Junot Diaz in 1996 describes a man s reality when it
comes to dating in what appears to be his teens. Diaz uses a rather conversational
style in his short story, explaining how exactly one should go about dating,
depending on the race of the girl and where she is from. He explains everything
from what you should do about certain foods in your fridge to what you should end
up expecting out of the date. But each aspect of the date has multiple different
outcomes, depending on if the girl is brown, black, white or halfie (Diaz 1). Where
the girl is from also is important in regards to when she will show up, where one
should go, and how one should act on this date. The real message that this story by
Diaz is portraying,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that this story in itself is written as a faux instruction manual on how to
act when on a date with a certain girl shows that not only the narrator himself is
having an issue fitting in, but maybe others as well. The narrator also hides things
that make the narrator who they are, that show the culture and where the narrator
may be from, such as pictures of his cousins and even pictures of himself looking
different from what may be accepted as the general norm in the society of the
United States. There is also the issue of each girl of a different race was expected to
act or behave in a certain way, which is partially shocking, given how hard the
narrator knowingly hiding who he is in order to impress a girl, whom he is
expecting to fit into one of 3 4 different boxes that he has created for them. It is
rather curious that the narrator has these views on how a girl of a certain race
should act, when he has made himself appear differently than he believes that he is
expected to behave based on his
Physical Environment Of Football
The physical environment of an event can affect the way spectators view the
activity that is being held at an event. In this instance, the physical environment of a
stadium can affect the way spectators view the game of football. The overall
stadium experience a spectator may have depends heavily on some of the physical
aspects of the stadium s environment. If the experience is positive, then the desire to
visit the stadium again will be more likely. If the overall experience is negative, then
more than likely the spectator will not return. In my research, I have found that The
University of Alabama does a great job at keeping their attendance up at their football
games. While many people seem to have an overall positive experience at the
stadium, there are also some areas that could be improved. There are over thirty seven
thousand students that attend The University of Alabama. The college is well known
for its championship football team who reigns in the Southeastern conferenceof every
year. You can probably imagine the enormous population that is in attendance at each
football game. Winning championships is not the only thing that keeps the fans
coming. The physical aspects of the stadium are appealing enough to keep the fans
coming as well. Alabama does a great job at maintaining attendance, but because
there are so many people I would suggest them opening up more space for convenient
parking. Almost every Saturday in the fall there are thousands of people racing to

As the US become more dependent on computers, the adoption of digital patient
records, increased regulation, provider consolidation, and the increasing need for
information between patients, providers, and payers, make information security a
priority. When researching literature on information security and privacy in
healthcare, healthcare information systems are largely viewed as the single most
important factor in improving US healthcare quality and reducing related costs. In the
last ten years a lack of adequate security measures has resulted in numerous data
breaches, leaving patients exposed to economic threats, mental anguish, and possible
social stigma (Henver, 2007). A recent survey in the United States suggests that 75%
of patients are concerned about health Web sites sharing information without their
permission (Henver, 2007). Researchers, mainly in information systems, have
adapted several reference disciplines such as psychology and sociology to analyze the
role of individuals and employees in information security risk management and
economics to characterize investment decisions and information governance (Henver,
2007). There is room for improvement within the research portion of information
security as this researcher was unable to find substantive research has that focused on
the results of the any breaches in information security
The Regency Society During The Regency Period
During the Regency society, what made a man a true gentleman is still a confusing
matter for many Austenesque and Regency readers (Grace). Many of the 19th
century occupations have vanished because of changes in taste, socials customs, and
technological advances (Pool 235). While some of the men during the Regency
period were extremely wealthy, there were others that faced financial hardships
(Grace). Most of time, the road of apprenticeship often led to a successful life and
good fortune (Pool 240). The most gentlemanly professions during the Regency
period were the clergymen, lawyers, and army officers.
Many of the men during the Regency period that desired to keep their status as a
gentleman often went into a church profession (Grace). Many gentlemen that were
OxBridge graduates and younger brothers entered the clergy (Ray 189). For many
families that had a steady, guaranteed income, the church was a popular option for
them (Grace). There were two different types of clergyman, vicar and curate. While
being a clergyman required no strenuous physical labor, it did require a Honors
degree either from Oxford or Cambridge (Grace; Ray 189). For the most part, the
gentry class were the only ones that could actually afford a degree from Oxford or
Cambridge to become a clergyman (Ray 189). Another job opportunity in the church
included the priest. The priests during this time were respected by society mostly
because of their association with the church (Ray 189). In the novel,

Studies conducted by Menguc (2014) on the implementation of strain sensors within
a suit for human gait measurement demonstrated the feasibility of these sensors
producing results that paralleled optical motion capture.
Equations and Ratios As previously mentioned, upon an applied strain to the silicon
elastomer sensor, there is a reduction in the channel geometry cross sectional area and
subsequent increase in the length of the channels. These proportional changes in
channel dimensions provide a consistent and measurable change in the resistance of
the sensor vs. the amount of strain applied as represented by the following
relationship: О”R = ПЃ [((L + О”L)/(w + О” w)(h + О” h)) (L/w h)] where О”R is
the change in resistance, ПЃ is electrical resistivity, L, w, and h are the length, width,
and height of the channels, and О”L, О” w, and О” h are the changes in length,
width, and height (Menguc, 2014). Because measuring the actual changes in height
and width of the channels is unrealistic, Poisson s ratio is utilized in order to relate
the relative changes in length of the channels with that of the width and height. The
ratio for EcoFlex 0030 is ОЅ = 0.499. This ratio for change in length relating to
subsequent width and height changes is defined by the strain, EL = О”L/L, such that
О” w = ОЅ EL w and О” h = ОЅ EL h, which simplifies the aforementioned equation
down to О”R = (ПЃ EL L (8 EL))/(w h (2 EL)^2) (Menguc, 2014).

The Basics of Toilet Training Essay
The process of toilet training may be considered the most challenging process that
parents encounter with their child during the early stages of his or life. Toilet training
can be described as an individualized developmental process that all children will
progress at their own developmental pace and temperament, not the child s
chronological age. Toilettraining should be a natural result of the child s
developmental readiness. Therefore the primary goal can only be achieved when the
child is ready and willing. Just like any learning process for a child, including toilet
training, it effects the development of the whole child and it is important that the
child has the necessary physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills to begin....

During the toilet training process, a child must obtain body awareness and be able to
associate bodily sensation to the result that follows, poop or pee. Then after he
masters that skill he must acquire the certain skills that will allow him to picture what
he wants to do (use the toilet), create a plan to get here, begin using it, and remain in
place long enough to finish, which requires both memory and concentration
(Wolraich 26). The next and probably most difficult readiness sign a parent must
recognize before starting the toilet training process is emotional growth.
There are many emotional issues that can greatly affect toilet training that include
a eagerness for independence, a child s need for control, testing of rules and limits,
desire to win parents approval, and fears of toilet use. If a child resists the idea of
using the toilet when mentioned he may be experiencing an emotional issue and the
parent should wait for a better time to follow through with the process. If the child
is continually repeating signs of resistance a parent may want to rethink if it is too
soon to begin the process and understand that the child may be going through a
major change in the his life that is creating stress. Parents should know that it is not
the best time to toilet train when a new baby is expected soon or has recently
arrived, the family has newly moved, the child has just
Music Is A Universal Medium Essay
There are certain elements and forms of expression that help to define cultures and
time periods. Music is a form of art and expression that ties cultures and humanity
together well also allowing each culture to add the own unquietness. We may not
realize it but music penetrates almost every aspect of our lives. Music is used in
celebrations such as a in a wedding or bar mitzvah music is even used to
commemorate someone s life as they are laid to rest. Music is a universal medium.
Everyone and anyone can find meaning and some personal connection music.
Music has the ability to elicit powerful emotions or memories. A certain song could
remind someone of a very happy time in their life such as being on a beach or at a
cookout with friends and family. Music has the ability to elicit powerful emotions
in us such as happiness and can transport us mentally back to that moment in time
where we were and what was happening to elicit those emotions. Music can bring
out negative emotions in us as well. Someone could hear a song that reminds them
of their first break up which may bring about feelings of sadness and cause that
person to relive a painful experience. Perhaps one of the most powerful elements
music possesses is that it allows us to project in our mind and become something
we are not. For example if you hear a rock song that excites you, maybe you imagine
yourself as the star quarterback throwing for the game winning touchdown. Maybe if
a country song comes on the radio you

Idealism And Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius
Berkeleyan Idealism and Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius
Jorge Luis Borges short work of fiction titled Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius grapples
with many philosophic issues. In the main, this short story deals with the philosophic
notion of subjective idealism as posed by George Berkeley s Treatise Concerning
Principles of Human Knowledge. Within this essay I argue that, while he
acknowledges the presumed irrefutability of Berkeley s argument, Borges Tlön,
Uqbar, Orbis Tertius aims to disparage both totalitarianism and Berkeleyan idealism
by drawing an analogy between the two via his literary creation of the fictitious
world of Tlön.
The notion of subjective idealism, within western philosophy, is credited to the 18th
century philosopher George Berkeley. In his most notable work regarding this system
of metaphysics, a Treatise Concerning Principles of Human Knowledge, Berkeley
holds that nothing exists outside of the immaterial ideas within minds. Esse est
percipi or to be is to be perceived (Berkeley,11). Berkley s form of subjective
idealism is able to avoid the problem of solipsism by his holding that the totality of
perceived ideas reside in the mind of God. This monistic system of metaphysics
runs contra to the earlier works of Locke and Descartes whose relative theories
assumed a dualist stance concerning metaphysics. The philosophic relevance of
subjective idealism is conveyed by Borges in Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius, when he
cites David Hume who held that

what it would take to be a hero during that time period. (Thesis) Elizabeth Cady
Stanton demonstrated how she was a hero through her passion for women s rights,
her courage to stand up for what she believed, and her ability to overcome the
discrimination that she faced all her life. Elizabeth Cady Stantonshowed heroism
through her strong passion for women s rights. All throughout her life, Stanton s
actions showed how passionate and determined she was. It was these two things that
were the driving force behind everything she did. This passion made Stanton hero
because she was willing to go to lengths that no one else would. Though Elizabeth
Cady Stanton showed her passion throughout her whole life, it became unmistakable
when she was studying in her fathers law office after she graduated, when she
traveled to London for the International Anti Slavery Convention, and when she
worked with Susan B. Anthony. Stanton s passion for women s rights started to
become evident when she studied in her father s law office. Elizabeth Cady Stanton

The Lesson By Toni Cade Bambara
Throughout the years knowledge and culture has been passed down within
generations. Elders within the community often teach life lessons to the young
adults growing up in the neighborhood. This idea still holds true today, especially
in low income communities. People from different socioeconomic backgrounds
live different lifestyles they also have different opportunities made available to
them. Because of this idea, people with a higher social standing have an advantage
over those in lower class standings. Social classes divide the people of our nation
and have existed for as long as we can remember. The American Dream created the
American nation that we know today. The dream itself is different for each
individual. Money plays a major part in the American Dream because to be
successful in America means to bear great wealth. We live in a nation, in which
money controls our very existence. The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara creates an
argument about society s unfairness that involves financial opportunities by
revealing the differences in living environments between upper class and lower
class. The Lesson is a very well written fragment of the past. This is a story from
New York s inner city of Harlem where children did not have substantial education
much less the money to obtain it. Not only is this story about a poor girl out of
place in an expensive toy store, it is also a social commentary that teaches readers an
amazing life lesson. The character Miss Moore introduces
Therapeutic Synthesis
Scientist have the discovered the interactions between molecules and proteins
within the cell that inhibit or stop the body s ability to repair DNA damage over
time. As the body ages, its ability to repair DNA gradually declines and that loss
leads to bodily degeneration and a higher risk for cancer, the uncontrolled and
abnormal growth of cells that don t undergo apoptosis or cell death. This discovery is
important to the scientific and medical community because it identifies the main
players in the proteinbindings and molecules that inhibit or promote DNArepair
within the cells. This is important because with the key mechanism of cellular
degeneration and aging being discovered, medical researchers can develop

This experiment had a sound experiment design. In their research project, the
scientist used mice to test and examine the effects of NAD on DCB1 and PARP1

share about 85 90% protein coding genes with humans, so this experiment closely
simulates a human s cellular response to the proteins and their interactions.
Similarly, NAD is found common among many species so that suggest that like
DNA, NAD is universal and that eliminates other proteins or factors that hold
similarities to NAD that are only found in certain organisms. Also by using healthy
young mice who were untreated as a control for the old mice who were treated

Descartes Proof For The Existence Of God
Descartes Proof for the Existence of God: A Cartesian Circle or Just Unsoundness?
The Cartesian Circle raises a worry about the potential circularity of Descartes proof
of the existence of God in Meditation III. The crux of the objection lies in the problem
that while Descartes wants to demonstrate the undeniable existence of God and his
benevolence in order to establish his rule of clear and distinct perception, he seems to
be using clear and distinct perception to lay out the causal principle that is the base
premise for his argument. Thus the argument appears circular. Yet, Lex Newman
suggests a different reading of the hyperbolic doubt (Newman) brought on by the Evil
Genius argument, where certain propositions like the cogito proposition are ... Show

Arc 2: The general veracity of propositions that are clearly and distinctly perceived is
derived from the conclusion that an all perfect God exists. (Newman)
Despite the seeming obviousness of the circularity here, Newman contends that the
argument is only circular if the first arc is interpreted as requiring Descartes to
thereby accept that the premises ... are accepted because of first accepting the general
veracity of propositions that are clearly and distinctly perceived (Newman, the italics
are mine). This is the Vicious Circularity interpretation . But Newman demonstrates
that under the Bounded Doubt interpretation, the first arc can be understood to
merely be committing Descartes to accepting the premises in question as belonging
to a special class of truths immune to doubt (Newman). In this case, like the cogito
claim, the causal principle will not be susceptible to the hyperbolic doubt of the Evil
Genius argument. Therefore, on this reading, the truth of the premises for the
existence of God can be known independently of the C D Rule

The first and the foremost thing that Nestle should do is to educate the audience
about what wrong has been done through television and newspaper advertisements
and active communication with the consumers through media. They can t remain
conservative at this point and need to reply to media. Only through this can they
salvage their image.
Also, although they should have hired external crisis management team pretty early,
but still hiring them is a great move on the part of Nestle. They should co work
with the crisis team to develop a fool proof strategy to recover the brand image of
Maggi in the minds of the Indian consumers so that as soon as the test results are out
and ban on maggi circulation is completely removed, consumers should be as willing
to buy maggi, as they were before the incident happened.
Nestle could come out with a statement detailing all that had happened and what
possibly went wrong on their part. They should clearly specify what they have done
to rectify any problem whatsoever and what all plans they had for the future
regarding the safety of their food

and waited for the exciting weekend trip to A.J Ranch.
A.j Ranch is a beautiful place it has horses, stables, a rodeo arena, campsite and

small, there were four bunk beds, and a loft. Our troop leader Tabitha Amelia s
mom, and Emma s mom and Bella s moms stayed up in the loft, there was three

Analysis of Two of the Best Williams Shakespeare s Work
Known as the leader in classical poetry and drama, English writer William
Shakespeare, captures the passion and emotions that the romance and depths of the
human heart experiences in life. This is especially shown in his vast collection of
sonnets which exemplified the carpe diem ideology of the period, and the love that
one can have for another. Two of the most famous of Shakespeare s works, Sonnet55
[Not Marble, nor the gilded monuments] and sonnet 116 [Let me not to the marriage
of true minds], are no exception to this theme in poetry. Both of these sonnets
exemplify the love that the narrator has for a mistress in his life, and how he defines
his love for them. Throughout both poems, Shakespeare conveys his purpose through

By using this subtle form of metonymy, the idea of immortalization is achieved by
the poet as he conveys his theme. Other forms of poetic devices are also used
throughout the poem, such as alliteration and assonance. Alliteration is first seen
in Sonnet 55 with the M sound in marble and monuments and the p in princes and
powerful. Assonance is also seen early in the poem with the I in shine and bright,
this is the only occurrence of this poetic device in Sonnet 55. However, alliteration
is seen several more times in lines 5 6 with the triple w sound in when wasteful war
and the double s sound in shall statues. The p sound of pace and praise is also an
example of alliteration within this poem. Another literary element used in the
internal rhyme of Mars and wars in line seven. By using alliteration and assonance
in this poem, Shakespeare creates a soft but sincere tone for the piece. Sonnet 116
also has several different forms of poetic devices. Throughout the poem the theme of
love is conveyed through diction and the use of metonymy by repeating several
different words in order to illustrate the strength of emotion the poet feels for the
issue.
Hard Labors Of Our Forefathers Analysis
America is a placed built upon the hard labors of our forefathers. People have
fought for years and years to get us to where we are now, but what can we do to
help? Have you ever had the urge to do something to help this country, this striving
nation of peace and love. Yes our country was built from many wars, but the wars
were for good causes. If we did not fight back during these wars where would we
be? Would we still even be alive? Our forefathers have fought so many battles for
us. They have done many things for us so that we can live the lives we live today.
It is our responsibility as a nation to not ruin what we have now! We need to stand
up and show our forefathers we will not let them down. This country is coming to
a halt recently with everything that has been going on. We were given this land
not to long ago and we are already killing it! Why are we wasting such beautiful

Why Was Italy Not Unified After the Congress of Vienna...
Before the Congress of Vienna the French occupation had far reaching affects on
Italy. The power of the Church and the Pope was reduced, changes were made in
landownership and land was redistributed. A new middle class began to appear.
Agriculture was improved and the peasants were freed from their old feudal ties and
obligations. Then when Napoleon was defeated and the restoration of the old regime
and monarchs was started, Italyagain became a country divided into eleven
independent states, excluding the tiny principalities and the Republic of San Marino.
So Italy was not unified after the Congress of Vienna due to a number of reasons,
such as the foreign influence of the Central European Powers, parochialism within the
states, the lack... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lay people had no part in government, apart from a few lay members of
advisory bodies called В‘congregations . Politically, Italy was fragmented. Further,
half the states were governed by kings or dukes who already occupied or hoped soon
to inherit the thrones of the non Italian countries. Venice and Piedmont had
dominions outside Italy. The Papacy had worldwide ecclesiastal concerns. The
peninsula was not merely divided; the boundaries and interests of its states ignored its
natural frontiers. Equally, there still survived three ancient republics of importance:
Venice, ruling a considerable empire on the eastern shores of the Adriatic and a large
territory, known as the Veneto, on the mainland of Italy; Genoa, which until 1768
governed the island of Corsica; and Lucca. After the Papal States there were five
significant duchies. Of these members of the Austrian royal House of Habsburg,
Milan direct from Vienna, and Tuscany, ruled the two most important separately.
The Duchy of Parma and Piacenza was under a Spanish Bourbon, but could not be
united either with Spain or with Naples and Sicily. The Duke of Modena and the
Duchess of Massa and Carrara represented Italian dynasties. So the foreign influence
of the Central European Powers both before and after the congress of Vienna was
major a factor in Italy s remaining as eleven independent states rather than becoming
united.
Foreign influence was not the only reason that Italy was not united by 1815,

The Battle Of Gettysburg As My Topic
For the Historical Newspaper Analysis paper, I selected the Battle of Gettysburg as
my topic to research. The reason I appointed this event as my subject matter was on
the fact that I reside close to Gettysburg, and have heard of some of the events that
developed there during the Civil War. Even though I live close to Gettysburg, I haven t
seen the reenactments that occur there or been on the tours Gettysburg offers. Since I
would like to take part in a tour along with seeing the reenactments, I figured it would
be helpful to gain a broader understanding of the events that transpired there before I
visit Gettysburg to engage in the festivities. Accordingly, this is why I elected the
Battle of Gettysburgas my topic. The tones of the articles that I reviewed for the
Battle of Gettysburg were mostly positive and informative. After examining many
Baltimore Sun Newspaperarticles, I noticed that the articles stayed considerable
positive by transforming negative situations into positive ones. For example, an
article titled The Battle of Gettysburg declared that General Reynolds, it seems more
and more clear, fought rashly on Wednesday, and very probably against the wishes of
the commander of the army; yet this battle, which lost us many men, gave us full
information of the whereabouts of the enemy s main body, and committed the enemy
to the position the north of Gettysburg. The author of this article took the negative
event of many men losing their lives during battle, and
Indian Child Welfare Act Case Study
Introduction:
In 1978, the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) passed through Congress in
response to a crisis affecting American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children,
family and tribes (NICWA, 2017). ICWA s was enacted due to an exorbitant
amount of Native American children being removed from their parents and stripped
of their heritage as children were forced to assimilate to the dominant culture.
Approximately 85% of the 25 35% of children were placed outside of their families
and communities (NICWA, 2017), often in off reservation federally funded boarding
schools and/or foster placements where the values of christian, white, blue collar
were emphasized to civilize the children (Atwood, 2017). Native American children

Summary
Cott was found by a Montreal clothier, Harry Pencer in 1955. The company
imported bottled and canned soft drink into Quebec from the US. After Harry
Pencer s death in 1983, his three sons, Samuel, Gerry, and Bill, inherited Cott. Once
Gerry Pencer became CEO of Cott in 1988, he transformed Cott into the largest
supplier of private label soft drinks in the world. Under his leadership, Cott increased
the competitiveness of private label soft drinks by lowering the production costs,
raising quality, and improving its packaging. After the death of Garry... Show more

There may be economic reasons for this drastic increase, or the expansion
opportunities. Their joint venture with Embotelladora de Puebla could have had
some influence in these numbers. In 2004 the percentage change from the previous
year shows a slight decrease, and the cumulative change also shows a slight decrease
from the 2003 cumulate change. Both of these figure show that the company should
proceed with caution when attempting any actions that will require a large investment.

The US dominates most of the Cott s sales for 2004. This could be a disadvantage
for Cott since they rely heavily on their sales from only one region. They should be
aware of this vulnerability and take steps to mitigate this disadvantage.
Qualitative analysis
Other than financial factors, Cott would also need to consider factors beyond number
crunching. They would need to consider customer attitudes towards the Cott brand, as
well as brands that want to buy the Cott product. They will need to keep up their
quality standards to meet those that can compete with Pepsi and Coke; otherwise,
their product will not provide customers with the comparable value. Consumer

Opiate Addiction Research Paper
Opiate addiction has started to become an epidemic in northeastern Indiana, affecting
the lives of about 39,000 people in Allen County alone.
U.S. health officials estimate 75 percent of the nearly 21 million people affected by
opiate addiction, including family members of addicts, are part of the national
workforce.
The Indiana Attorney General s office reported 80 percent of Hoosier employers
have spotted signs of prescription drug abuse in the work place.
The Allen County Health Department looked at every overdose death from 2008 to
2015. It found white, male, employed individuals were predominately the victims of
deadly overdoses.

Allen County officials are working towards finding solutions to solve the growing
problem of opiate addiction in the community.
The community has to come to the understanding that [addiction] does exist, and it s
not a simple problem to just go away, said Troy Hershberger, the Chief Deputy of
Operations at Allen County Sheriff s Department. Locking them up for 90 days
doesn t make an addict stop being an addict.
Hunter said that the Allen County Department of Health is doing a great job in
addressing the issue by making the public aware of what is going on.
I certainly think we need more treatment facilities here in this area, to help an addict
who wants to get help, to be able to check themselves in right away instead of having
to wait, Hunter said.
Everybody owes a part of this problem, McMahan said. Health care, the robust
prescribing of opiates, health care not screening appropriately for mental illness,
parents not having appropriate conversations, funders not funding programs that we
know work.
McMahan strongly believes a difference can be made in the community if everyone

Autism Spectrum Disorder Essay
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) hits very close to home for me. Considering I have
been a child/adult with Autism, I thought the topic of how to handle people with
Autism in the health care industry was a good fit. As a child, I personally had
difficulties going to the doctor. I have had countless unpleasant encounters with
doctors, and I understand what Autistic people go through. If there was more
understanding of the condition and more culture competence towards the issues faced
with someone having Autism, there would be more autistic people who receive health
care.
As some may know, Autism is a disorder which makes communication and social
interaction difficult for the one affected. Autism is commonly referred to as Autism
Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism is made up of different levels and the patient can
be severely autistic or mildly autistic as with Asperger s Syndrome. Since there is a
variety of different levels, there is a wide range of possible reactions that can occur.
These reactions can occur when dealing with autistic patient in any setting, but
especially in a health care setting.
Considering the spectrum is so large and diverse, doctors and nurses cannot
necessarily understand each reaction that may occur when caring for a patient with
ASD. Although, this wide range of reactions can be overwhelming for a doctor or
nurse to handle, the issues that arise still need to be addressed as people with autism
are still people and they need care just as anyone
Saint Sebastian Interceding For The Plague Stricken
The artwork that I would like to discuss is Saint Sebastian Interceding for the
Plague Stricken, an oil painting done in the 1490s by Josse Lieferinxe a South
Netherlands artist. ( Saint Sebastian Interceding for the Plague Stricken. ) I went to
the Walter Art Museum and this image hidden it was in the third floor in the corner.
As for the comparison I decided to choose the right, Saint Sebastian and the Bishop
Saint, and for the third artwork that we had discussed in class that I d like to discuss
is the Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymous Bosch. The main image is Saint
Sebastian Interceding for the Plague Stricken. However what these artworks have in
common is that they have a lot of movement and have the same religion. Also each
artwork conveys different the messages and they have a different function.
First when I saw the Saint Sebastian Interceding for the Plague Stricken I
immediately knew it that the painting had to do with the Black Death. The Black
Death is widely known even today because so many people were infected and it s a
major part of history. I remember seeing it in movies, history and documentary
channels. The plague killed nearly one third population of Europe. ( The Black
Death: The Greatest Catastrophe Ever. ) Another thing I already knew was in the
painting Christians were experiencing and witnessing sudden death because of the
Black Death. There face expression of the people all seemed to be terrorized and
probably the viewers during that time

Victoria London as an Essential Element of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde
Robert Louis Stevenson in Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde makes London in the
Victorian era an essential element of the story, Text Box: Text Box: because
London at the end of the 19th century was the centre of a massive empire. It was
the epitome of what other towns and cities should be like. The gentlemen of London

He already believed that there was an animal side to men, that man was not truly one,
but truly two , but to remain in the high positions of society, Jekyll had to hide his
darker side.
This is true of Victorian London as well. There was the respectable side of London
with clean streets, nice houses, and respectable people walking along the streets.
Then there were the wild and unruly streets that were home to the poor of London.
Text Box: The London gentlemen showed off great wealth and respectability. Their
houses were grand and elegant. They boasted of the clean streets and squares of
London. However, just behind the houses were the filthy alleys, where people lived
in terrible conditions (probably worse than most of the conditions in the uncivilised
colonies of the British Empire). Doctor Jekyll s house had a back way that opened
onto the dirty streets of the slums (which became a back way for Mr Hyde). Half
of the house is grand and respectable, while the other half (which only a few of
Jekyll s closest friends know is connected with the front of the house) is run down
and shows obvious signs of negligence. Tramps live on its doorstep. It is a certain
sinister block of building , like a blind forehead of discoloured wall which showed no
window, nothing but a door on the lower storey .

Should People Be Allowed To Keep Animals In Captivity
Animals in Captivity
Everyday people go to zoos with intentions of having a good time without realizing
they are paying for animals to be held in captivity for the rest of their lives. In recent
discussion, the decision to keep animals in captivity is a very controversial topic.
Many people are towards the decision that zookeepers should keep the wild animals
captive for the entertainment of others, while on the contrary many are against it.
However nobody has done anything to get the animals out. The people who are
against setting them free believe that the animals are living a much better life than
they would outside and that they are better for keeping entertainment for the public
but what they do not see is what happens when the zoo is closed and how they are
treated outside of the public s eye, which is what the people who are against it tend
to see. Not only do animals not like being held in captivity but also it gives them

Many animals never see life outside of cages because they are taken in from when
they are babies and kept until they die. With zoos existing for hundreds of years
people have never noticed how wrong it is to keep animals in cages. Animals all
over the world are affected because they get taken away and never know what it is
really like to live in the wild. Zoos are not a perfect place to keep animals, more
animals are abused and hurt inside of zoos. One day a wallaby was suppose to be
getting taken care of by its zookeeper but the zookeeper was not paying attention
because the wallaby drowned in a bucket of water. In another case a spider monkey
had frost bite but was not treated soon enough so zookeepers were forced to
euthanize the spider monkey (Jouvenal). More accidents take place inside of zoos
than they would if animals were released to the wild. Everyday animals die in
captivity due to zookeepers that don t pay attention to the

technical innovations for the benefit of AT T and its customers by implementing next

The FCC allowed the acquisition because of stipulations that have been created to
protect the consumer . The first being that AT T had to expand its fiber network to
twelve million possible customers so competitors could compete against the new
acquired satellite branch of AT T were they couldn t compete before. Second, AT T is
forbidden to creating its own online video streaming service. This promotes video
competition because if they had a streaming service, AT T could count other
streaming services against the customer s monthly limit of internet usage. The third
stipulation of the agreement is that the company has to offer internet to low income
customers without making them bundle products such as TV service or phones.
There are both advantages, disadvantages and scrutiny for both the company and for
the consumer to this acquisition that have resulted. Some advantages for the
company have been expanding into new markets, reaching a new customer base,
providing services that bundle, create better deals for the consumer and cut costs for
the two companies. Some disadvantages that may result in the acquisition of the
company are that it could be difficulty to integrate, overestimating economic benefits,
and the expense of the acquisition. Some scrutiny has occurred because of this
merger because consumers now have fewer choices when choosing a television
provider that could lead to monopolistic practice.

Parody In Ann Radcliffe s Northanger Abbey
In Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen s witty parody of Ann Radcliffe s gothic classic
The Mysteries of Udolpho, offers a euphemism of Gothic romances. A comic study of
the ironic discrepancies between the ordinary world in which Catherine Morland lives
in and the fantasy that shapes her imagination, fed by gothic novels, gives to that
world. Austen shows the differences between the heroine s real situation and the
gothic world she fantasizes. Northanger Abbeyis an ironic and realistic counterstory

uses parody for comic effect. She references elements from Gothic romances, but

Austen uses Catherine s ordinariness as a way to celebrate implicitly the ordinary
heroism of all women. Austen uses a distinct type of irony in her creation of
Northanger Abbey s heroine. Catherine is someone who rejects the constricting
standards of previous depictions of female heroism and instead embraces a
tomboyish persona, allowing her to challenge the gendered standards of heroism as
they were portrayed within literature (Niebuhr 150). She understands that people
can be both good and bad because real life is never as black and white as it is in the
novels she reads. In her mind, she is a Gothic heroine or at least, she is in training to
become one. In the novel, Austen wrote, from fifteen to seventeen she was training
for a heroine, she read all such works as heroines must read to supply their
memories with those quotations which are so serviceable and so soothing in the
vicissitudes of their eventful lives (Austen 20). Catherine pictured herself in a
Gothic novel, believing she is going to become a hero and help solve everyone s
problems. She sees things that aren t there. She over analyzes a situation because she
wants the mystery, the rush and the adrenaline it gave her believing that the abbey was

in how everybody around him would have the ruthless, hatred of African

Coates really shows how he feels all of the whites treat him. One thing that coates

show how suffering can really change a character for the better or for the worse.
Symbolism is shown for each novel in The Marlin in The Old Man and the Sea and
Race in Between the World and Me. The symbols are something that someone
reallys want to get. They have working for something of this value for their whole
lives. The Marlin is this magnificent creature that every fisherman only dreams of
catching. Once Santiago finally catches this fish, he almost thinks of the fish as a
brother. He was with the fish 2 straight days, in that time, all he was doing is trying
to reel in this beast of a fish. He felt like this fish was one of the closest things that
he has ever had to him before. In Between the World and Me, a
Who Is The Antagonist In Midaq Alley
Sebastian Torres Torija
Midaq Alley
Midaq Alley by Naguib Mahfouz is the entertaining story of a unique local alley in
Cairo who demonstrates on a day to day basis the true colors of a quintessential low
class Egyptian society, in a contrast with a present day Egypt that hopes to modernize
as the end of World War II occurs. It is the characters that inhabit this alley, along
with their individual and communal stories and links that they share that excel this
novel into a state of utter glory. The relationship that the residents of the narrow alley
in the forgotten old part of Cairo hold is stronger than the reader initially perceives,
becoming at times the only mean of survival for the alley. Much of the alley s
interaction is based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately for Hamida Salim suffered from a heart attack, and even though he did
not die, Salim s personality and attitude changed radically. He took a stronger
approach on his business and began to trust no one.
He entered her life at a time when she was overcome with despair. Salim Alwan
had collapsed near death after giving her a day and a half of hope for the life she
had always wanted, and now this had happened, after she had banished Abbas from
her dreams. Because she now knew there was no hope of marrying Alwan, she
renewed her engagement to the barber, even though she felt only scorn for him.
(Mahfouz, 161).
However the beauty that Hamida held would not go unnoticed and Faraj was
struck from the moment he saw Hamida in the alley as she came from her daily
walk and he attended the political rally. Faraj seemed like the ideal man for
Hamida, considering that he had the money to lure her with all the extravagant
gifts that she desired. However it is also Faraj who corrupts Hamida. Faraj finally
reveals his identity as a pimp to Hamida convinces her to join the business, and even
changing her name to Titi. Initially this caused no harm to Hamida as she was still
living in the lavish rich dream she always dreamed of.
He laughed out loud, asking, And are pimps not men too? Oh yes, my lovely young
woman, they are real men, but not like
Public Policy Analysis And Management Should Be My Next
Step
During an economics lectures the professor said to my class I do not know
whether the increasing income inequality is an issue or not . I was perplexed. I
thought the goal of Economics, as a social science, was to achieve the maximum
welfare of people by using all the resources most efficiently. So how is income
inequality that renders many people worse off, not an issue? I knew he did not state
his opinion to avoid introducing his bias. However, if everyone in the world were to
keep their understanding of justice and inequality to themselves without a meaningful
dialogue, no societal issue would gain attention or action. Realizing that I want to be
equipped with tools necessary to take appropriate measures when welfare of
individuals is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They showed me that scientific methods involving quantitative and qualitative work
could result in working solutions to some of the most complex and pressing
problems of our time. Chandra Talpade Mohanty s writings like Under Western
Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourses (1984) provided me a
theoretical understanding of my experiences as a transnational feminist and find my
voice in discussions of global relevance. My mentors at Iowa State University further
encouraged my interest in policy formulation by exposing me to a host of socio
economic issues and conflicts through their teachings. It is during the last three years
of my undergraduate college career that I became confident about my decision to
pursue Public Policy.
On the recommendation of Dr. Teshome, a professor of Women s Studies and
Anthropology, I opted to take a graduate level Anthropology course called Global
Development. For this course, I read various development theories in the context of
social, political and economic disparities in the world. We discussed the ramifications
of certain development policies implemented in the global south. These theoretical
texts along with real case studies captured my interest in policy formulation and the
role of gender in development. I presented my final project on feminist critiques of
some conventional
God By Louis Jenkins Summary
A medium sized apartment, systematically decorated in Spanish American decor.
On the walls are several portraits of the Christ and the Virgin Mary. Candles of
every variety and rosaries in a countless array that subsist in every part of the room,
giving the impression an extremely religious person occupies this resident. Above
the dated television set is an enormous photograph of the Pope. The two police
officers talking with Mrs. Lopez are having difficulty communicating with her
because she does not speak a great deal of English. Miss, can you understand me?
one officer asks with no success. Sitting on the sofa holding a note in her hand, she
mumbles to herself, all the time talking compulsively in Spanish. She lifts the note

How we live it determines our role. The good, the bad, and the indifferent even a
sure thing becomes I don t know. The hopes, the dreams, the nightmares they are
all important parts of this game. The only rule is there are no rules, and every one
of us is to blame. So a bit of advice I give to you. On your journey through the
looking glass, Leave the future to the future and the past in the past. Believe in
yourself. Believe in God and make an effort to do it right, Because tomorrow is
promised to no one and this just may be your last night. Concluding the poem,
Jenkins is impressed. My God, this is a magnificent poem, he s got a deep
perception on things if I don t say so myself Jenkins compliments Mrs. Lopez on
her son s talent, but needs a few more answers to some routine questions, like, how
long has she lived in Los Angeles. Seven years, she replies. You see Mrs. Lopez;
Victor ran from the others as soon as the danger approached, so now he feels like
he abandoned his friends, and wasn t there to help. She elevates her voice in the
protection of her son. No, she oddly replies. We know that your son was frightened,
but what we don t know is who frightened your son! And he
Deaf Is Dumb Research Paper
For centuries, the disabled have been silently oppressed. Their rights have been
overlooked, they have been mocked and made fun of, and they ve been
stereotyped to no end. Specifically, the Deaf community have dealt with lack of
sign language interpreters, vicious bullying, and the stereotype of deaf is dumb .
Contrary to this generalization, many deaf people have been extremely successful
in careers from acting and modeling to medicine and science. Also, many hearing
people use Sign Language with their babies, and studies have shown that it is very
beneficial for a child to learn Sign Language. The stereotype deaf is dumb is greatly
inaccurate and needs to be eradicated because many deaf and hearing people alike
have proven that deaf cultureis a benefit to society and that the Deaf are no less
capable than the hearing. Deaf people have had many successes in all areas of
human achievement. In government, for example, Kelby Brick was the director
for law and advocacy at the National Association of the Deaf, was the first recipient
of the Governor s Kelby Brick Community Leadership Award, and is now the director
of the Governor s Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing... Show more content on

For one, the slight language barrier causes hearing people to think that because
they are speech impaired, they are mentally impaired as well. This is a fallacy, as
there is no correlation between speech and mental capabilities. In addition, access
to language does have an effect on academic performance, but it does not mean
dumb . 92% of deaf children are from families with two hearing parents and hearing
parents of deaf children are more likely to restrict their children from sign language
because they themselves don t know it and they haven t experienced the culture. This
inaccess to language is what accounts for speech issues and slower academic
progress, but is not equivalent to a lack of mental

  • 2. The End Of The Week The end of the week had finally come; it was a warm Friday in September. This was not just going to be any ordinary Friday, however, because I was going to my friend s house for a bon fire. Little did I know that a series of unfortunate events was about to unravel in my very own neighborhood. My house being located just a half mile down the road from Laurel highlands high school, where I attended school, was always the perfect place to grow up. The neighborhood was filled with older couples, so there was never much excitement. It seemed like a relatively safe place to live. I could have never dreamed that this day would end the way it did. But, after a several hour standoff occurring in the white colonial style house just one street down from mine, my exciting day planned ahead of me had ended. The day was almost over, only having three more periods before I would ride the bus home and get ready for the fun night ahead. Since it was a nice day out, our gym class had gone outside to either walk on the track or play flag football. It was about half way through the period when coach Buehner came sprinting down mustang drive and yelled, Mr. Dunham, the kids need to come back up to the school. I was talking to my friend Chad while heading off the football field and we were wondering if there was an activity planned, or what other reason why we were heading back to school half way through the period. On the way walking up the steep, mustang drive I passed Nick, one of my
  • 3. Arrow Of God And Smoke Signals Arrow of God and Smoke Signals have similar patterns of fiction, archetypes and philosophies. If you notice Campells typical hero sequence of actions can be detected in both Arrow of God and Smoke Signals. There is a certain typical hero sequence of actions which can be detected in stories from all over the world from many periods of history. Essentially, it might even be said there is but one archetypal mythic herowhose life has been replicated in many lands by many people. (Archetypes pg 6) This sequence is made apparent in Arrow of God. The birth of Ezeulu is unusual because he is born into priesthood. This priesthood later requires him to travel to Okperi. While in Okperi, Ezeulu confronts his ego simultaneously while conflicting with the imposing British Government. Ezeulu then returns to Umuaro having been reborn psychologically. Campells typical hero sequence holds truth in Smoke Signals as well. Victor s unusual birth in Smoke Signals is symbolic; he is saved from a tragic house fire as a young baby. This house fire is the same event that drives his father away from the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. Inevitably this later requires Victor to leave home and confront his ego while retrieving his father s remains. In both Arrow of God and Smoke Signals the events after the heroes birth are considerably unusual. This unusual birth is later the motive for the hero to leave home which ultimately results in the heroes confronting their egos. The heroes then return
  • 4. How To Date A Brown Girl By Junot Diaz How to Date a Brown Girl by Junot Diaz in 1996 describes a man s reality when it comes to dating in what appears to be his teens. Diaz uses a rather conversational style in his short story, explaining how exactly one should go about dating, depending on the race of the girl and where she is from. He explains everything from what you should do about certain foods in your fridge to what you should end up expecting out of the date. But each aspect of the date has multiple different outcomes, depending on if the girl is brown, black, white or halfie (Diaz 1). Where the girl is from also is important in regards to when she will show up, where one should go, and how one should act on this date. The real message that this story by Diaz is portraying,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that this story in itself is written as a faux instruction manual on how to act when on a date with a certain girl shows that not only the narrator himself is having an issue fitting in, but maybe others as well. The narrator also hides things that make the narrator who they are, that show the culture and where the narrator may be from, such as pictures of his cousins and even pictures of himself looking different from what may be accepted as the general norm in the society of the United States. There is also the issue of each girl of a different race was expected to act or behave in a certain way, which is partially shocking, given how hard the narrator knowingly hiding who he is in order to impress a girl, whom he is expecting to fit into one of 3 4 different boxes that he has created for them. It is rather curious that the narrator has these views on how a girl of a certain race should act, when he has made himself appear differently than he believes that he is expected to behave based on his
  • 5. Physical Environment Of Football The physical environment of an event can affect the way spectators view the activity that is being held at an event. In this instance, the physical environment of a stadium can affect the way spectators view the game of football. The overall stadium experience a spectator may have depends heavily on some of the physical aspects of the stadium s environment. If the experience is positive, then the desire to visit the stadium again will be more likely. If the overall experience is negative, then more than likely the spectator will not return. In my research, I have found that The University of Alabama does a great job at keeping their attendance up at their football games. While many people seem to have an overall positive experience at the stadium, there are also some areas that could be improved. There are over thirty seven thousand students that attend The University of Alabama. The college is well known for its championship football team who reigns in the Southeastern conferenceof every year. You can probably imagine the enormous population that is in attendance at each football game. Winning championships is not the only thing that keeps the fans coming. The physical aspects of the stadium are appealing enough to keep the fans coming as well. Alabama does a great job at maintaining attendance, but because there are so many people I would suggest them opening up more space for convenient parking. Almost every Saturday in the fall there are thousands of people racing to

As the US become more dependent on computers, the adoption of digital patient records, increased regulation, provider consolidation, and the increasing need for information between patients, providers, and payers, make information security a priority. When researching literature on information security and privacy in healthcare, healthcare information systems are largely viewed as the single most important factor in improving US healthcare quality and reducing related costs. In the last ten years a lack of adequate security measures has resulted in numerous data breaches, leaving patients exposed to economic threats, mental anguish, and possible social stigma (Henver, 2007). A recent survey in the United States suggests that 75% of patients are concerned about health Web sites sharing information without their permission (Henver, 2007). Researchers, mainly in information systems, have adapted several reference disciplines such as psychology and sociology to analyze the role of individuals and employees in information security risk management and economics to characterize investment decisions and information governance (Henver, 2007). There is room for improvement within the research portion of information security as this researcher was unable to find substantive research has that focused on the results of the any breaches in information security
  • 7. The Regency Society During The Regency Period During the Regency society, what made a man a true gentleman is still a confusing matter for many Austenesque and Regency readers (Grace). Many of the 19th century occupations have vanished because of changes in taste, socials customs, and technological advances (Pool 235). While some of the men during the Regency period were extremely wealthy, there were others that faced financial hardships (Grace). Most of time, the road of apprenticeship often led to a successful life and good fortune (Pool 240). The most gentlemanly professions during the Regency period were the clergymen, lawyers, and army officers. Many of the men during the Regency period that desired to keep their status as a gentleman often went into a church profession (Grace). Many gentlemen that were OxBridge graduates and younger brothers entered the clergy (Ray 189). For many families that had a steady, guaranteed income, the church was a popular option for them (Grace). There were two different types of clergyman, vicar and curate. While being a clergyman required no strenuous physical labor, it did require a Honors degree either from Oxford or Cambridge (Grace; Ray 189). For the most part, the gentry class were the only ones that could actually afford a degree from Oxford or Cambridge to become a clergyman (Ray 189). Another job opportunity in the church included the priest. The priests during this time were respected by society mostly because of their association with the church (Ray 189). In the novel,

Studies conducted by Menguc (2014) on the implementation of strain sensors within a suit for human gait measurement demonstrated the feasibility of these sensors producing results that paralleled optical motion capture. Equations and Ratios As previously mentioned, upon an applied strain to the silicon elastomer sensor, there is a reduction in the channel geometry cross sectional area and subsequent increase in the length of the channels. These proportional changes in channel dimensions provide a consistent and measurable change in the resistance of the sensor vs. the amount of strain applied as represented by the following relationship: О”R = ПЃ [((L + О”L)/(w + О” w)(h + О” h)) (L/w h)] where О”R is the change in resistance, ПЃ is electrical resistivity, L, w, and h are the length, width, and height of the channels, and О”L, О” w, and О” h are the changes in length, width, and height (Menguc, 2014). Because measuring the actual changes in height and width of the channels is unrealistic, Poisson s ratio is utilized in order to relate the relative changes in length of the channels with that of the width and height. The ratio for EcoFlex 0030 is ОЅ = 0.499. This ratio for change in length relating to subsequent width and height changes is defined by the strain, EL = О”L/L, such that О” w = ОЅ EL w and О” h = ОЅ EL h, which simplifies the aforementioned equation down to О”R = (ПЃ EL L (8 EL))/(w h (2 EL)^2) (Menguc, 2014). • 9. The Basics of Toilet Training Essay The process of toilet training may be considered the most challenging process that parents encounter with their child during the early stages of his or life. Toilet training can be described as an individualized developmental process that all children will progress at their own developmental pace and temperament, not the child s chronological age. Toilettraining should be a natural result of the child s developmental readiness. Therefore the primary goal can only be achieved when the child is ready and willing. Just like any learning process for a child, including toilet training, it effects the development of the whole child and it is important that the child has the necessary physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills to begin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the toilet training process, a child must obtain body awareness and be able to associate bodily sensation to the result that follows, poop or pee. Then after he masters that skill he must acquire the certain skills that will allow him to picture what he wants to do (use the toilet), create a plan to get here, begin using it, and remain in place long enough to finish, which requires both memory and concentration (Wolraich 26). The next and probably most difficult readiness sign a parent must recognize before starting the toilet training process is emotional growth. There are many emotional issues that can greatly affect toilet training that include a eagerness for independence, a child s need for control, testing of rules and limits, desire to win parents approval, and fears of toilet use. If a child resists the idea of using the toilet when mentioned he may be experiencing an emotional issue and the parent should wait for a better time to follow through with the process. If the child is continually repeating signs of resistance a parent may want to rethink if it is too soon to begin the process and understand that the child may be going through a major change in the his life that is creating stress. Parents should know that it is not the best time to toilet train when a new baby is expected soon or has recently arrived, the family has newly moved, the child has just

Music can bring out negative emotions in us as well. Perhaps one of the most powerful elements music possesses is that it allows us to project in our mind and become something we are not. For example if you hear a rock song that excites you, maybe you imagine yourself as the star quarterback throwing for the game winning touchdown. Maybe if a country song comes on the radio you

Idealism And Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius Berkeleyan Idealism and Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius Jorge Luis Borges short work of fiction titled Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius grapples with many philosophic issues. In the main, this short story deals with the philosophic notion of subjective idealism as posed by George Berkeley s Treatise Concerning Principles of Human Knowledge. Within this essay I argue that, while he acknowledges the presumed irrefutability of Berkeley s argument, Borges Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius aims to disparage both totalitarianism and Berkeleyan idealism by drawing an analogy between the two via his literary creation of the fictitious world of Tlön. The notion of subjective idealism, within western philosophy, is credited to the 18th century philosopher George Berkeley. In his most notable work regarding this system of metaphysics, a Treatise Concerning Principles of Human Knowledge, Berkeley holds that nothing exists outside of the immaterial ideas within minds. Esse est percipi or to be is to be perceived (Berkeley,11). Berkley s form of subjective idealism is able to avoid the problem of solipsism by his holding that the totality of perceived ideas reside in the mind of God. This monistic system of metaphysics runs contra to the earlier works of Locke and Descartes whose relative theories assumed a dualist stance concerning metaphysics. The philosophic relevance of subjective idealism is conveyed by Borges in Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius, when he cites David Hume who held that

Elders within the community often teach life lessons to the young adults growing up in the neighborhood. This idea still holds true today, especially in low income communities. People from different socioeconomic backgrounds live different lifestyles they also have different opportunities made available to them. Because of this idea, people with a higher social standing have an advantage over those in lower class standings. Social classes divide the people of our nation and have existed for as long as we can remember. The American Dream created the American nation that we know today. The dream itself is different for each individual. Money plays a major part in the American Dream because to be successful in America means to bear great wealth. We live in a nation, in which money controls our very existence. The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara creates an argument about society s unfairness that involves financial opportunities by revealing the differences in living environments between upper class and lower class. The Lesson is a very well written fragment of the past. This is a story from New York s inner city of Harlem where children did not have substantial education much less the money to obtain it. Not only is this story about a poor girl out of place in an expensive toy store, it is also a social commentary that teaches readers an amazing life lesson. The character Miss Moore introduces

The Cartesian Circle raises a worry about the potential circularity of Descartes proof of the existence of God in Meditation III. The crux of the objection lies in the problem that while Descartes wants to demonstrate the undeniable existence of God and his benevolence in order to establish his rule of clear and distinct perception, he seems to be using clear and distinct perception to lay out the causal principle that is the base premise for his argument. Thus the argument appears circular. Yet, Lex Newman suggests a different reading of the hyperbolic doubt (Newman) brought on by the Evil Genius argument, where certain propositions like the cogito proposition are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Arc 2: The general veracity of propositions that are clearly and distinctly perceived is derived from the conclusion that an all perfect God exists. This is the Vicious Circularity interpretation . But Newman demonstrates that under the Bounded Doubt interpretation, the first arc can be understood to merely be committing Descartes to accepting the premises in question as belonging to a special class of truths immune to doubt (Newman). Equally, there still survived three ancient republics of importance: Venice, ruling a considerable empire on the eastern shores of the Adriatic and a large territory, known as the Veneto, on the mainland of Italy; Genoa, which until 1768 governed the island of Corsica; and Lucca. After examining many Baltimore Sun Newspaperarticles, I noticed that the articles stayed considerable positive by transforming negative situations into positive ones. For example, an article titled The Battle of Gettysburg declared that General Reynolds, it seems more and more clear, fought rashly on Wednesday, and very probably against the wishes of the commander of the army; yet this battle, which lost us many men, gave us full information of the whereabouts of the enemy s main body, and committed the enemy to the position the north of Gettysburg. The author of this article took the negative event of many men losing their lives during battle, and

Indian Child Welfare Act Case Study Introduction: In 1978, the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) passed through Congress in response to a crisis affecting American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children, family and tribes (NICWA, 2017). ICWA s was enacted due to an exorbitant amount of Native American children being removed from their parents and stripped of their heritage as children were forced to assimilate to the dominant culture. Approximately 85% of the 25 35% of children were placed outside of their families and communities (NICWA, 2017), often in off reservation federally funded boarding schools and/or foster placements where the values of christian, white, blue collar were emphasized to civilize the children (Atwood, 2017). Once Gerry Pencer became CEO of Cott in 1988, he transformed Cott into the largest supplier of private label soft drinks in the world. They would need to consider customer attitudes towards the Cott brand, as well as brands that want to buy the Cott product. They will need to keep up their quality standards to meet those that can compete with Pepsi and Coke; otherwise, their product will not provide customers with the comparable value. Locking them up for 90 days doesn t make an addict stop being an addict. • 30. Autism Spectrum Disorder Essay Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) hits very close to home for me. Considering I have been a child/adult with Autism, I thought the topic of how to handle people with Autism in the health care industry was a good fit. As a child, I personally had difficulties going to the doctor. I have had countless unpleasant encounters with doctors, and I understand what Autistic people go through. If there was more understanding of the condition and more culture competence towards the issues faced with someone having Autism, there would be more autistic people who receive health care. As some may know, Autism is a disorder which makes communication and social interaction difficult for the one affected. Autism is commonly referred to as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism is made up of different levels and the patient can be severely autistic or mildly autistic as with Asperger s Syndrome. Since there is a variety of different levels, there is a wide range of possible reactions that can occur. These reactions can occur when dealing with autistic patient in any setting, but especially in a health care setting. Considering the spectrum is so large and diverse, doctors and nurses cannot necessarily understand each reaction that may occur when caring for a patient with ASD. Although, this wide range of reactions can be overwhelming for a doctor or nurse to handle, the issues that arise still need to be addressed as people with autism are still people and they need care just as anyone

As for the comparison I decided to choose the right, Saint Sebastian and the Bishop Saint, and for the third artwork that we had discussed in class that I d like to discuss is the Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymous Bosch. The main image is Saint Sebastian Interceding for the Plague Stricken. However what these artworks have in common is that they have a lot of movement and have the same religion. Also each artwork conveys different the messages and they have a different function. First when I saw the Saint Sebastian Interceding for the Plague Stricken I immediately knew it that the painting had to do with the Black Death. The Black Death is widely known even today because so many people were infected and it s a major part of history. I remember seeing it in movies, history and documentary channels. The plague killed nearly one third population of Europe.
