Irish Music Research Paper
Irish Music is Fighting Strong in the 21st Century A young American man walks down a busy
city street whistling Loch Loman, while a Japanese woman on the other side of the globe is
humming to Enya s Caribbean Blue (). Irish music has made a far reaching impact in the world
of today. It reaches people all over the globe from those locally born to those of no Irish ancestry
whatsoever. It has bespoken of culture and the proud heritage of the Irish. Song in and of itself is a
force to be reckoned with, but the Irish musichas instilled a sense of connection to a country and a
people few may otherwise identify themselves with. Irish music is the national photobook of its
people, touching a deep chord with so many of its listeners.... Show more content on

Some of the Irish tunes, though perhaps honestly expressive of the flawed human heart, may
stray a little far. Since a common theme in traditional Irish music (and arguably, most genres of
music) is romantic interest, it is not uncommon to hear infidelity eluded to or spoken of directly
in a ballad like Ride On (Celtic Women Destiny ). In a version sung by the music group Celtic
Women, the down trodden melody mentions a suggestive line at least once in the course of its
lyrics (Celtic Woman Destiny ). People s objections to this is are understandable and perfectly
legitimate. However, one could argue that this music can still be enjoyed, it just requires
discretion. Due to the many depressing topics featured in Irish music, people may be less
inclined to absorb the sense of emanating sadness which the songs convey. It is true that many
Irish melodies seem to be a bit dark or sad, in part to their slower, more dramatic pace. There are,
however, pieces of Irish music which many times employ the use of the fiddle. There is also always
the potential that audiences may just have other musical tastes, which could be summed up in One
man s junk is another man s

Pride In C. S. Lewis The Magician s Nephew
Taking Away Harm [2] In C. S. Lewis s breathtaking novel The Magician s Nephew, the Christian
themes of sin of pride, objected truth vs. relativism, and redemption are developed throughout
Digory s characterization in the novel. [1] Digory embodied sin of pride by wanting power or
knowledge that was not bestowed upon him. Digory and polly were in Charn and Polly told him
not to foolishly strike the bell, but Digory exclaimed We shall always be wondering what else
would have happened if we had struck the bell (Lewis 56). When Digory was in Charn he rang
the bell because he was trying to obtain knowledge that was not given to him therefore bringing
evil into Narnia. Using her evilness, Jadis tries to make Digory commit a sin. As Digory approached

The University Of British Columbia
Introduction:
Since the human history enter into the 20th century, people realize that the finite of industrial
production, and the significance of the diversity; therefore, pursuing sustainability is one of the
most significant goal for people to make efforts. However, achieving the goal is not easy, many
factors have restriction on achieving sustainability, such as economics, politics, and culture.
Because of so many restrictions on the achievement of sustainability, coordination is necessary. In
these days, many universities try to make the sustainability happen. The university of British
Columbia has been working to explore the sustainability for many years, and plan to advance the
sustainability on their campus and beyond. To make the success of the environmental sustainability,
they treat their campus as an interconnected system. They plan to transform the campus into a
sustainable lab room because they believe that sustainable is not only a word to define but also a
way to interact with the world. They want to become a social test bed for sustainability. It required
the coordination of the entire campus to meet their commitment. The transportation management,
green building design, sustainable residential community and engaging students, staff, and faculties
all work together to achieve their goal.
In term of environmental sustainability, the university of British Columbia has practiced on many
fields; however, the climate and energy, water, and recycling wastes are

The Strategies Of Finding A Mate
Lauren SoentgenApproach: 1, Source: Buss, 1994
In his article, The Strategies of Finding a Mate, David M. Buss discusses the act of finding a
mate and the characteristics that people are drawn to in a mate. He begins the article with a brief
look at the history of mating and the theories that have previously been proposed. In particular he
addressed Charles Darwin s theory of sexual evolution and belief in preferential mate choice. Buss
proposes that there are three components to human mating. He states that human mating is
inherently strategic... mating strategies are context dependent... [and that] men and women have
faced different mating problems over the course of human evolution and, as a consequence, have
evolved different strategies (Buss, 1994, p. 241). He uses this theory to propose nine different
hypotheses to prove that despite humans being varied and different from each other, all humans
look for similar characteristics when trying to find a mate (Buss, 1994). To investigate his
research hypotheses, Buss collected data from two sources. His first source was college students
in the United States. For his second source, Buss (1994) worked with 50 other scientists in order
to survey over 10,000 men and women from around the world. This was his greatest strength in the
article. He had collected so much research that it made the data seem credible, and the fact that the
participants came from diverse backgrounds means it is a better representation of the

A Research On Studying And Learning And Knowledge Obtained...
Research is a goal an individual aims to discover, learn, observe, and ultimately write about. It is
a practice of pursuing the process of discovering knowledge on a specific topic. I once told
someone what I find to be intriguing to me and they also told me what they unearth to be
fascinating. They appear to have squandered too much time on the issue, but, I was young then
and seem to be new to his universe of knowledge. Their advice was doing a researchin order to
uncover everything about the subject until I feel I am the expert. That wasn t all, and then I was
to study and discover some more knowledge with regard to it. I was quite frustrated with that
advice because I would like to spend only a week on studying. Will, here I am, finally
endeavoring to carry out that concept of research and discovery through studying and learning
some more on the subject I would like to become an expert on. Research in general supports the
same concept of learning and knowledge obtained from constant education. Advance research in
graduate level has a set standard, strategy, and methodology to keep abreast. Once the individual
has discovered what topic holds his/her interest, after that comes the selection of research
methodology. This is the planning stage of the process. The researcher has two options, the
qualitative or quantitative approach. Simply, the researcher can choose to apply both
methodologies in a mix method or can choose to use each, individually. Each of

Does Candide Deserve His Fate
Candide, young, hopeful, and naive to the ways of the world. Candide is possibly the son
of the Baron s sister, but his lineage in somewhat unknown, perhaps that is one of the reasons
as to why the Baron of Thunder ten Tronckh expelled him from his estate after he was caught
with Cunegonde. The boy lived a fairly comfortable life and was educated by a philosopher
named Pangloss. Even after he was kicked out of the magnificent castle, he remained
optimistic that he and his love would be reunited. He was sold to the Bulgarian army, beaten,
shipwrecked, beaten again, taken captive by indigenous people in South America, and
bamboozled by a pirate captain. He had more than his fair share of tragedy, but he always

His outlook in life was pretty bleak, he had a very black and
white attitude. When pirate that tricked Candide attacked a Spanish ship and lost, Candide
said that crime is punished and that he received his deserved fate (p. 51). Martin s free
thinking responded Yes, but why should the passengers be doomed also to destruction? God
has punished the knave, and the devil had drowned the rest. (p. 51).
In comparison to Candide s philosophical view, Martin s perception is dark, but more
realistic. The cheerful optimism that Candide embodies works out for him because good
things do happen to him, but they are quickly taken away; he finds his love, but has to leave
her (p. 32), he gets riches, but he loses the sheep that carried them (p. 46). His positive
outlooks remains despite the humorous tragedies that fall upon him.
Martin on the other hand, has suffered enough hardships in life and knows better than to
be so naive like dear Candide. Pangloss s philosophy falls along the lines of oh well, that s
suppose to happen. Pangloss reasoned that the bay was there because the Anabaptist

Girl Who Played With Fire
Think about someone you care about very strongly. Now imagine two other people you also care
about. Now imagine that the second and third person you thought of have been shot dead, and you
found their bodies. Then imagine that the first person you thought of was the prime suspect and
most likely the killer of the other two. Mikael Blomkvist deals with this exact situation in The Girl
Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson. In the sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
, also by
Larsson, Blomkvist is on the hunt for a killer and Lisbeth Salander is supposedly the one everyone
thinks is guilty. Her fingerprints are on the murderweapon, and almost everything points to her
being the murderer, but Mikael disagrees. He goes on a hunt to prove her... Show more content on

Salander s mother was constantly abused by her father. One night, while her mother slept, her
father attacked her mother. Salander spontaneously ran into the room with a knife and stabbed
her father in the shoulder multiple times, until he was bleeding so badly he ran out of the house.
However, the second event that takes place during All The Evil was the one that the book was
presumably titled after. Holger Palmgren explains what happened between Salander and her father
to Blomkvist: He rolled down the window, possibly to say something. Lisbeth was ready. She
threw a milk carton she had filled with gasoline into the car. Then she threw in a burning match
(Larsson 628). Salander played with fire, literally. She hated her father for beating her mother. She
hated him for leaving the house and leaving his family. She had had enough. By taking matters into
her own hands, Lisbeth thought she could solve the problem and get her retribution. Little did she
know, however, she had caused an even bigger one. Her father survived, and he wants her dead.
The burning hatred for her father, and the physical burning of her father is the main reason the title
supports the story extremely

Alabama Economic Problems
The chances of winning a lottery have the same odds as being stuck by lighting on a clear day.
Yet, the Alabama legislature is working on a bill that would offer its citizens the opportunity to
vote for or against the lottery. Approving the lottery will not assure an answer to Alabama s
economic problems or resolve problems the General Funds budget is facing. This writer s purpose
will provide reasons that a lottery is not a quick fix, and could create accumulating problems for the
citizens Alabama. The first issue for opposing the lottery is, the money generated. Where will this
massive amount of generated revenue go, to education, prisons, or the General funds account? This
creates a Fund that will generate millions of dollars with no solid plan for earmarking the money
to benefit the state of Alabama. Alabama taxpayers have a legal right to have a transparent

that the lottery will not bring more scandals and misappropriation of the states income from a

Research Paper On Brown Dwarfs
The life and death of a star is both interesting and complicated. The formation of a star might not
be as simple as you think. Some stars actually fail to form big enough to ever be seen. You might
also believe that a star will shine forever. However, stars can also lose their energy, causing them
to become other types of formations. Stars can be complex anomalies that can end up in several
forms including neutron stars, brown dwarfs, and white dwarfs. Starformation is a rather simple
process. Gasses in space clump together with dust and rock. Over millions of years these materials
begin to form small orbs. Eventually it the clump will get big enough to create gravity. The core
will become hot from the constant pressure and will use hydrogen to make helium using nuclear
fusion. This fusions creates a tremendous amount of energy creating a fiery ball in space.... Show

A brown dwarf forms when a star fails to form. This is why brown dwarfs are often referred to as
failed stars . When a star is forming it has to create enough fusion to generate enough energy.
Brown dwarfs do not get large enough to be able to sustain nuclear fusion. These dwarfs are
called brown because even though they do not shine brightly they still have little heat in their
core to give it a small glow. After a brown dwarf has formed it will star in space with its glow of
millions of years. White dwarfs are an effect of small star deaths. White dwarfs form when a star
runs out of hydrogen to create energy with using nuclear fusion. The star s gravity takes over
due to no energy pushing back. The star then becomes extremely dense forcing atoms together.
The hot ball is then left in space to cool over billions of years. No known white dwarf has ever
cooled because the universe is only 13.7 billion years old and some of the first white dwarfs are
still thousands of degrees

Postmodernism In Post Modernism
Post Modernism is a revolutionary era that follows Modernism and developed in mid to late
twentieth century. It takes a changed and developed approach across philosophy, art, criticism, and
architecture and makes a departure from Modernism. The term Postmodernism is applied to an era
that both follows modernity, and also acts as a host of movements that emerged during the era
especially in art, music, and literature, marked by the tendencies against modernism. It is more like
the rejection of conventional social norms , followed by the Counter culture movement. Counter
culture movement spreads massively in Europe and North America during mid 20th century, which
is a subculture whose norms of behavior and values substantially differ from those of dominant
mainstream society and culture. Its 1960 s to 1970 s development generated a unique brand of its
own in the field of notable literature, including comics and cartoons.

traditional boundaries of narrative in a very modern manner. It explores the fraught relationship of

male characters, that also receives attention for its treatment of gender issues. The novel builds on

Mother Daughter Relationship In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck
One of the main themes in The Joy Luck Club, is the relationship between mother and daughter,
because the entire story revolves around the sacrifices made by mothers for their daughters, even
going so far as to sacrificing a literal piece of them selves to give their mother a small boost of time
in life. In this essay I will be conveying the theme of motherdaughter relationships through real
world and literature comparing. In the joy luck club, a daughter is recalling the stories about her
mother s past seeing how much she gave up for her in the stories she s been told. Seeing how her
mother wished for her to be able to have a life without sorrow unlike her own. Though her daughter
only realizes all this after her mother dies. We learn that

Dipteran Research Paper
INTRODUCTION Across the globe, there are many regions that are solely dedicated to produce
different types of crops and other produce in order to support the needs and demands of society.
Many of these areas are concerned with ways to maximize their crop production, and often many
insects, particularly true flies (order Diptera), potentially affect these crops during the growing and
harvesting seasons. Dipterans have vastly important roles throughout ecosystems across the world,
mainly having the duty of pollinating as well as serving a crucial part of the food chain, allowing
many insects and animals a source of food, without having to resort to the ingestion of plants. Many
authors have discussed and examined the potential roles that dipterans... Show more content on

were not hers. Another thing she did was put crosses all over the walls. One day when my mom
and I were at the house, my mom was walking in the hallway, and she noticed that there was
something on the walls. After looking closely, she noticed that they were crosses that were on the
walls. I tried to figure out what it was that my aunt had used to put the crosses on the walls, but it

In the chapter there are a lot of connections between the main text and the philosophical lessons.
The philosophical lessons are about fate. Fatalism is the belief that whatever happens is
predestined. (Page 54) In other words, everything happens for a reason. The Greeks even
believed that even world history was governed by Fate, and that the fortunes of war could be
swayed by the intervention of Gods. (Page 55) In the main text Sophie had tried to see who had

Was it luck or fate? This is an example of the main text and the philosophical lesson being tied
together. It just so happened that just when Sophie had decided to go down to her garden for a
walk the mystery man had sneakily left the note on her front step instead of her mailbox. Before,
Sophie had received her lesson on fate she wasn t sure if she wasn t sure if she believed in fate.
She had sent the philosopher a note asking if sickness is the punishment of the Gods? (Page 50)
At first, she had thought that no one believed in that. Then, it occurred to her that many people
thought it helped to pray for recovery, so they must believe God had some power over people s
health. Then, when Sophie had received a letter later that night from the philosopher Alberto
Knox he had sent her the lesson on fate. Answering her question about Gods controlling
sickness. Sophie waited all night for her lesson. She was just about to go to bed when she saw

What does the object look like? Antique, old, worn wood. There are curvy edges on the backrest
portion. The wood is very worn on the seat part, and there is a lot of dust on the chair. The right
side of the chair is broken in a jagged break.
Where did you obtain this object? I found this at the Poehler Antique Mall in Emporia, KS. The
antique mall is located on Commercial Street.
Where can you find similar objects? At this antique store, there were tons of old chairs. You could
find more there. I would assume that a lot of antique stores have old pieces of furniture like this

the middle class is overlooked and are considered average. This chair is overlooked too because
it is a piece of furniture that almost everyone has, and we don t often think about how the chair
got there or how the chair was made. I think this is similar with a lot of people in the world.
Many people go unnoticed. I hope that by adding color to this old chair, will be like the colorful
personalities many people have, which makes them stand out above others.
What does this object mean to you? I became invested in this chair, I spent a lot of time and
money on this project. I hope the chair will add a new style to my room. It means something
special to me because I took something old and gave it a new look, but the object still does the same

The Future Electric Cars Are Becoming More Popular

With the advancing future electric cars are becoming more popular. Electric cars are said to be
pollution free and one hundred percent environmental friendly. These cars are not the solution to
reduce air pollution and global warming in the near future. Electric cars create large amounts of
pollution indirectly. This is from the coal fired power plants used to generate the electricity and the
lithium mine sites, which is where the mineral lithium that is used to produce the car s batteries
comes from. These situations cause just as much pollution because they burn some source of fossil
fuel to create the energy and extract the minerals.

This power is generally collected from coal fired power plants. Each one of these power plants are
responsible for three and a half million tons of Co2 per year. The United States alone produces
nearly ten billion tons of CO2 from coal fired power plants. This is nearly one third of the 38.2
billion tons of Co2 produced by all sources. These cars are also limited on their range. A typical
electric car can only travel around one hundred twenty five miles miles before being recharged.
The disadvantage of electric cars is that they usually can travel no more than 100 miles.
(Haverdink). Therefore using more electricity, causing the power plants to make more. Another
disadvantage of electric cars is the time they take to charge. For example, The major
disadvantage of battery powered cars as we mentioned in the last section is the time required to
recharge the batteries. (Lampton). Rather than a gasoline car that you just fill up you have to
plug these cars in. This typically takes up to eight hours, putting the electric car behind on long
distance road trips. The electric car s also need a special outlet to plug into, not found in typical
homes. This cost extra money to have installed and if you need to charge somewhere it is hard to
find. Also the electricity used to charge the cars isn t free.

Analysis Of The Movie Hundred Dollar Baby
Men generally have the gender role to be the care takers, the fighters, and ultimately the manliest
man possible, while women have been thought to be weak and helpless at the sight of danger. In
the 2006 episode Hundred Dollar Baby of the TV show It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the
male stereotype promotes males as fighters, but also disproves the general stereotype when some
men run away from a fight. Also, the femalestereotype is challenged when a woman wants to fight
her own battles instead of a mandoing it for her. Stereotypically, males typically assume they are
better fighters than women and while fighting, males seem drunk and tend to show off their bodies
by having their shirts off. Right off of the bat, the male... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This goes against the stereotypical male because males generally stay and fight, especially when
saving a woman is involved.
The next day, Mac and Dennis learn of an underground fighting ring and convince Charlie that he
is the strongest man they know and he would be a great fighter. Once again, the show goes
against the male stereotype by having Dennis and Mac make Charlie fight in their place so they
can make money betting. The guys begin to practice fighting as long as they are explicitly
drunk, suggesting that sober males would lose in a fight or would not fight at all. This proposes
that they do not believe they could win a fight or be in one if they were sober, so all three of
them need to be drunk to make it a great fight. Mac, Dennis, and Charlie all agree that the best
way to be a high quality fighter and trainer is to be intoxicated while in action. The male
characters also emphasize that a male must have his shirt off to show off his muscular body
while fighting, just like Rocky and Terminator because they never wore a shirt when they were
training. Charlotte Jiourosek had said that as the athletic body type grew larger, so did the build
of stars like Rocky and Terminator. Just like Rocky and Terminator, today s men look as if they are
from another planet and would have been distasteful before today s age (233 4). In order for men to

Hierarchical Structure Of Religion Chapter 3 Summary
Chapter Three: On the Hierarchical Structure of The Church and In Particular On the Episcopate
Christ created different ministries within His Church to benefit the Church and the ministers have
sacred powers and served the people in an orderly way, so that all may obtain salvation. This
council declares that Jesus set forth his Apostles and established His Church and willed the
Bishops, who were the successors of the Apostles, to shepherd his people until the end of the
world. He put Peter in charge and established a foundation of unity for the succession of the
apostles and the succession of Peter as the representative of Christ. Jesus called the disciples and

This also gave them helpers and ensured that the ministry would continue after their death. The
bishops, priests, and deacons serve the Church and shepherd the flock as teachers and just like
the office given to Peter is permanent, the office of the Bishops is permanent. The council says
that the bishops are like the Apostles and whoever hears the words of the bishops, are hearing
Christ, and whoever rejects their words, also rejects Christ. Through the Bishops, Christ is
preaching the word of God to all nations and is constantly administrating the sacraments to the
believers. The bishops chosen are the shepherds of the flock. The original Apostles passed on the
gift of the Holy Spirit to their successors through the laying on of hands. The sacred council
teaches that this is the sacrament of holy orders. This episcopal consecration confers the office of
governing and teaching. This is how bishops admit members into the episcopal body through the
sacrament of holy orders. And just like Peter and the Apostles had an apostolic college, the Pope,
the successor of Peter and the Bishops, the successor of apostles are joined as one body of unity.
However the body of Bishops has no authority unless it is in union

To Further Understand The Text One Must Know The Literary
To further understand the text one must know the literary devices present in The Lottery. In the
short story The Lottery there is a theme of tradition. The citizens all blindly followed the tradition
of the lottery while barely remembering its origin or reasoning. Each year the town came together
to have its lottery. It was said that the lotterywas done each year so that they would have good crops
but many of the citizens had forgotten its purpose.
While waiting for the ceremony to begin the children picked stones and the adults chatted
nervously. Mrs. Tessie Hutchinson, the protagonist, arrived late which foreshadowed her bad luck
to come. Mr. Summers was the man in charge of the lottery. He brought the same black wooden

The Reliable Narrator In Bartleby The Scrivener
Bartleby the Scrivener is the story of a person who seems to be very displaced in society. He is
not really sure what his purpose is and never really finds his way. Dan McCall focuses most of
his critical work on the narrator, when the story is in fact about the character of Bartley. Dan s
critical work may be further persuading if he focused more of his writing on the actual character
of Bartleby, whom the story is titled after. If The Reliable Narrator could have gone into more
detail about how the narrator s actions related to or affected Bartleby, McCall could have had a
much stronger case. Why put so much focus on the narrator when there are so many questions to
be answered about Bartleby. In Bartleby, the readers get to see the... Show more content on

If McCall had put more of a focus on Bartleby and how the narrator influenced Bartleby, his work
may have been more persuasive in getting others to agree with his view of the narrator. McCall
writes, Every virtue I see in the man, they see as a vice; where I see his strength, they see his
weakness; what I see as his genuine responsiveness, they see as his cold self absorption (266). In
Bartleby, the reader gets to see a glimpse into Bartleby and the narrator s relationship. It is clear
that the narrator is really trying to help Bartleby in the end, and if McCall had gone on and
elaborated on his points mentioned above, explaining how he sees these characteristics of the
narrator affecting Bartleby, he may have had a stronger argument. Another section where McCall s
argument could be made stronger if he added how it relates more to Bartleby is when he writes,
The Lawyer is constantly trying to use Bartleby s plight to touch off his own emotions (270). If
McCall elaborated on how the lawyer is trying to use Bartleby s troubles to touch off his own
emotions he might have made a more logical argument. Adding more detail to this statement would

Michael Pollan Omnivore Dilemma
Michael Pollan in 2006, published a work that has to some degree changed the way that people eat,
or at the very least attempted to change the way that we think about the food we eat. (Shea 54)
Pollan demonstrates through fundamentally modern rhetoric the relationship that people, and more
specifically American s have with foodand how very distant we are from it. ( History, Old

little thought and the fact that we use way to much corn and petroleum to manufacture and
obtain our food, then logically get taken by the marketing of organic food and then the difficulty
of a one time experience challenging the market to forage in the environment we live. The ethos
of the work is derived from the fact that Pollan is willing and able as an individual, on a very
intimate level to trace all these links to a formidable conclusion, as well as his own credential as
a consumer and a food writer. (Shea 54) He vividly describes his experiences and what he has

corn. Corn also feeds poultry, pigs and sheep, even farmed fish. But that s just the beginning. In
addition to dairy products from corn fed cows and eggs from corn fed chickens, corn starch, corn
oil and corn syrup make up key ingredients in prepared foods. High fructose corn syrup sweetens

Reasons For College Dropout
The amount of academic work is one of the major factors in dropouts. Unfortunately, students are
usually unprepared for the rigorous academic effort required for college. Some students get through
high school with little or no studying. Therefore, they will face the bitter truth of being completely
unprepared once they get to college. One of the underlying reasons for lack of preparation to
college is the fact that students at high schools are deprived from being challenged. Many
students take classes that do not push them to exceed college level bar. They take inconsiderable
classes to avoid homework and any thinking process required for that. When the students attend
college, the difficulty of the classes boggles them and their actual work performance decreases
rapidly. The students sometimes expect the professors to babysit them and excuse their missing
work or an unattended test. However, college professors expect students to read and learn on their
own outside of class. If the students don t this, their grades will decline. A semester of bad grades
usually discourages some of the students and ultimately causes them to quit college. Another reason
for college dropoutis excessive partying and drug abuse. Freshman students sometimes get carried
away with hanging out with friends and partying. They forget to work on their projects or study
for a test and eventually realize their grades are slipping. Sooner or later, they start having too
much fun and lose

Summary And Symbolism In John Collier s Annunciation
Christian artwork is used to represent and symbolise the Gospel and important figures. Not all
individuals could read and write, therefore images were very important in delivering messages and
teachings. One artwork chosen is Annunciation by John Collier created in 2003. This modern
artwork shows Gabriel asking Maryif she would become the mother of Jesus. The other one is the
Holy Night Nativity Scene by Antonio Correggio created in 1530, which focuses on and sets the
scene of Jesus birth.
The Annunciation displays the moment Gabriel was sent by God to tell Mary she would
become pregnant. This is present in the passage God sent angel Gabriel to a virgin and he said to
Mary God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his
name Jesus (Luke 1:26 33).
The artwork depicts Mary as a very young and innocent women, which is aided by her modern
school inspired dress.
In the background, there are houses of a 21st century style of living in the suburbs, making the
setting familiar and relatable and allows the audience to feel connected to Mary. Therefore, the
emotions and thoughts of Mary is as she comprehends Gods wishes can be further understood. ...

Reading the Old Testament Essay
The Old Testament and the Bible itself has been studied extensively for centuries. Archeologists and
Scholars have labored and pondered over texts trying to decipher its clues. It does not matter how
many times the Old Testament has been studied there will always be something new to learn about
it or the history surrounding it. In the book Reading the Old Testament: an Introduction, the author
Lawrence Boadt presents us with a few different authors of the Old Testament that used different
names for God and had a unique insight into the texts. These four sources are titled P for priests, E
for Elohim, J for Jehovah, and Y for Yahweh (95). These four unique sources help us realize that

The sources that do not come from the bible specifically are ones that have everything to do with
it but show some insight as to the history of it. They help peel a little off the mystery that the
bible is surrounded by. The Nova website gives us an insurmountable amount of information
about the archeology, history, and thoughts on the bible. Therefore without these sources, we
would be in the dark on what was behind the bible and without that knowledge people would be
more skeptical of the bible that has no background to as how it came to be in existence. If there
was no history or sources behind it then we would have no idea why these authors felt compelled
to write anything and what their culture was like that influenced it. Most importantly we would
never be able to answer the question, who wrote the bible? Higher criticism are techniques of
analysis to find out what circumstances surrounded the writing of the bible, how many versions
there are, and plenty of other questions (Boadt 80). One of these criticisms is source criticism
which is also called literary criticism. This deals with whether earlier to the written word we have
if there were others before and how they were incorporated into the present text (Boadt 81). In the

A Case Study On Southwest And Will Address Acquisitions
Mergers and acquisitions have always been around and have been popular in the United States
for decades. It has been said that that mergers and acquisitions have contributed to the
reconstruction of businesses during the 80 s and 90 s. The following is an analysis of a case

popular in the United States and there are many reasons why a company decides to acquire
another company. Companies will decide to acquire a business in order to increase market
power. Market power happens when a company sells its good or services above competitive
levels. If a company attains a high market power, it can become a leader (Hitt, Ireland,
Hoskisson, 2015). Acquisitions that are competing in the same industry as the acquiring firm is

According to the class textbook, horizontal acquisition are a result in higher performance when a
company have similar characteristics (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2015). For example, has somewhat
of the same strategy and decision making styles. Another type of acquisition is vertical
acquisitions, which refers to a company who purchases a supplier or a distribution of products they
use. A vertical acquisition gives the firm additional controls (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2015). A

ABSTRACT
The aim of the present study is to formulate a dual therapy of peptic ulcer containing antimicrobial
agent amoxicillin and anti secretory agent pantoprazole, utilizing the concept of bi layer tablet
system for the effective treatment of H. pylori associated gastric/duodenal ulcer, in an attempt to
improve bioavailability and to get maximum therapeutic benefits and patient compliance about
the treatment. Different formulas of 575 mg amoxicillin were prepared as sustained release
layer by wet granulation method and different formulas of 40 mg pantoprazole in form of
immeadeaye release was prepared as extended release matrix layer by direct compression
technique. The results showed that formulas prepared with Hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose
(HPMC K100M) and xanthan gum and acasia as binder was capable to retard the release of
Amoxicillin and Pantoprazole for 12 hr and 8hr respectably which according to dosing
frequency of amoxicillin in treatment of peptic ulcer (twice daily) it will prevent drug free
interval so achieve complete eradication of H. pylori, thus it was selected for preparation of bi layer
tablet. Regarding Pantoprazole, formula PS 6 (which consist of HPMC K 15 M,

John Bowlby Early Attachment Theory
There are many theories in regards to early infant attachment and subsequent development. One
very common theory is John Bowlby s theory, which describes the special relationship that
develops over the first year of life between infants and the people who care for them (Gross,
2011). Bowlby s theory focuses on the assumption that early life experiences will in advertently
affect one s development. Internal working models, coined by Bowlby, are defined as infants
cognitive abilities increase and enable infants to form a representation of their relationship with the
caregiver. Applying this theory, an infant uses memorable experiences, both negative and/or
positive, to develop their relationship with a person. For example, if an infant experiences... Show

Sengupta (2011) defines the theory as that, in Maslow s theorization the appearance of a need
usually rests on the prior satisfaction of another more proponent need which is the strongest, in
the sense that it has to be satisfied first. Once it is satisfied, the next category of basic needs
emerges, and will now have the stronger influence on the individual s motivated behavior. Against
this background Maslow concluded that only when lower needs are gratified higher ones emerge,
which indicates that the higher needs are weaker than the lower ones. The theory begins with basic
needs such as food, water, and shelter. The theory than emerges into safety, then love, then self
esteem, and finally self actualization. When applied to early infant attachment, if an infant does
not receive proper nutrition and shelter it will stall that infant s ability to develop. The most
sensitive for an infant is safety and love. Without the security and love of family, food, shelter,
sleep, and the body, an infant s development will be significantly stalled and based on the theory,
the infant will not be able to progress to the next needs until the needs are met in

Photography Art History
During the 1850s the photographic community pursued an increased activity to advance the
medium s claims as art. In England, France, Italy, Germany and the United States several societies
and publications were founded, such as the Photographic Society of London (now the Royal
Photographic Society) and the Societe Francaise de Photographie, established in 1853 and 1854

Photographic Journal in London, and others in Italy, Germany and the United States were at the
vanguard of discussions regarding photographyas a legitimate art form, promoting spaces which
would included exhibitions of photography as well as painting.
At the beginning of 1862, an article published in the Photographic Journal, by an unknown author,
summed up the discussions over photography as art, stating: the question is not whether
photography is fine art per se neither painting nor sculpture can make that claim but whether it is
capable of artistic expression; whether in the hands of a true artists its productions become works of
art. A French naturalist, Louis Figuier, also made an accurate observation in regards to photography

The Valdivia Earthquake
Earthquakes, also referred to as temblors, are one of the world s most powerful occurrences. The
Earth has four layers: the crust, mantle, inner and outer core. Earthquakes occur in the crust and
upper mantle (Refer to Figure 1). The mantle is made up of semi molten rock called magma. The
upper mantle rock is hard. The crust is the outer layer of the earth. Together, the crust and upper
mantle make up the lithosphere. The lithosphere is 20 50 km thick and is cracked. The
asthenosphere sits below the lithosphere. The lithosphere consists of tectonic plates (lithospheric
plates). Tectonic plates is the theory that the Earth s outer shell is divided by slabs of solid rock.
When these two tectonic plates make frictional contact the outcome may be deadly.
Sometimes there can be smaller shocks that occur, one s before called the foreshock, and one s
after called the aftershock and the main earthquake called the main shock.

While ISO 9000 series are technical, presenting specifications, requirements and guidelines for

quality management with a human touch . Does this mean that ergonomic aspects of the workplace
and customer satisfaction are not emphasized by ISO 9000? Does quality assurance (ISO 9000)

Service quality, Workers Abstract This paper addresses some ergonomic issues in the ISO 9000
based quality assurance. Ergonomics the study of human factors in engineering and design of
systems is briefly touched on. Then, outlines of ISO 9001 and ISO 9004 quality system models
are provided, and all 20 requirements of the current ISO 9001:9004 standard are presented in an
ergonomic light. Subsequently, human factors in the documentation and implementation of a

Spongebob Theme Song
In my childhood, I watched a lot of spongebob it was something we all watch at some point. I
remember watching spongebob with my siblings in the living room of my house and laughing
with them. I used to play with them and have fun with them all day everyday at that time playing
tag or hide and seek. A song i could link to this memory is the spongebob theme song because
you can say it the only thing me and my siblings ever heard during that time. As i was in
elementary school i got to know a person that i would call a best friend, someone i could talk to.
When i was in elementary school a kid moved in my neighborhood and was my next door
neighbor. My parent found out they had a kid my age and they said i should go visit. I visited
and went to her room and the gummy bear song was playing. We both became best friends
practically the same day we met. We both liked the same things. I linked the gummy bear song to
this memory because it was the song that was on when we met and became best friends. As i got

massive mountains with some nice smooth looking snow on them. The song i would link to this

Effects Of Food On Food And Food Intake
overeat when food does become available, resulting in chronic ups and downs in food intake that
can contribute to weight gain. Cycles of food restriction or deprivation also can lead to an unhealthy
preoccupation with food and metabolic changes that promote fat storage are all the worse when in
combination with overeating (FoodResearch Action Center, 2015, n.p.). The influx of food one day
and than nothing in the cupboards to eat the next creates an unhealthy connection to food. When
food is present, it should be to strengthen and nourish the body while supplying the much needed
energy to function. But when food is consumed in mass portions and high calories manifest into
low nutritional value the body is overdosed with calories that converts the majority of the meal to
fat.
Some of the most shocking statistics surrounding food insecurities are those pertaining to the
overwhelming amount of food that is wasted. Grocery stores, restaurants and bakeries routinely
throw away large amounts of food that could be donated but there is a perception that this food
could not be donated because there is a liability involved, which is false. Good Samaritan Laws
are in place for those that donate food to remove any risk for legal retribution. Ultimately it is the
bottom line for these food corporations that comes into play and that is there are very little tax
breaks so they can recoup the logistical costs or financial incentive for businesses to donate food.

actual face. Aliens, written and directed by James Cameron, follows a former pilot, a group of

shuttle pod. When they got her back to the base, she had these reoccurring nightmares about the
alien, such like it ripping out of her body. At first, the company didn t believe her about the alien
when they debriefed her, but when they lost contact with the colony they asked her to go with the
marines, due to her experience with the creature. When Ripley and her team arrived on the planet,
they found one survivor, a little girl, named Newt, played by Carrie Henn. Ripley develops a
strong connection with Newt, and begins to look after and protect her. Ellen Ripley is established

Solar Plexus Chakra Research Paper
rystals Yellow in Color Target Blockages of the Solar Plexus Chakra.
Chakra Number Three The Solar Plexus (Manipura) Chakra
The solar plexus chakra is about accepting your place within the greater universe, and about the
degree of personal power you allow yourself to manifest. To harness your personal power you
need to manage emotional issues effectively, manage your ego based responses to life issues; and
allow yourself to shine, shine like the sun this chakra center represents; which naturally is done by
releasing negative emotions to free up your energies to deal with better things.
The health of this chakra center bears largely on your perception of who you are, and how you
perceive and react to the opinions others hold of you. Your solar plexus chakra is also a center of
psychic awareness. The Sanskrit word Manipura means city of jewels .

Forces such as love and religion are incapable of compensating for the ominous realities of life.
Frederic Henry says farewell to the battle arms and weaponry used in the war and to the arms of his

The relationship between Henry and Catherine initially served as a means of alleviating life s
difficulties such as the pain of war and grievances but grew into a reality with Catherine s
pregnancy.
The doctor was sewing up the great long, forcep spread, thick edged, wound (325). This action
makes Frederic feel uncomfortable and is a reminder of the pain he has inflicted on Catherine.
The physical scar on her body has left a mental scar on Frederic after she passes away.
It was like saying good by to a statue (332). Statues represent a fallen hero and keep the memory of
the person alive. Catherine served as a hero in Frederic s life of the gentle, good, and brave
qualities she possessed.
After a while I went out and left the hospital and walked back to the hotel in the rain (332). Rain is
a surrogate for Frederic s feelings throughout the novel.
The world Kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially (249). The world

Like having a little faith Jesus Christ can make your faith grow. In order for Jesus Christ to use
us we need to submit fully to Him. We must study the word of God, so we know how to be
obedient to Him, furthermore the word teaches us what God expects from us. When we submit
totally to Jesus Christ He gives us strength to bare our cross, also when we submit to God He
gives us strength to do His work. Hebrews 13:21 says God will, Make you perfect in every good
work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ;
to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen . By submitting to God, He will reveal to you what it
is He would have you to do, but we have to submit first. When we are doing God s work people
should see some evident of God in us our spirit should bear fruit that people can see. Paul said to
the Galatians, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness,
faith, meekness, temperance Galatians 5:22 23a. A person who has submitted to God, should
show these signs. Also, we ought to seek the mind of Jesus Christ so He can instruct us in all
spiritual things. Smith Wigglesworth said, We must seek to have the mind of God in all things.
If we don t, we will stop His workings. He wants us every day to live in the Spirit so that all of the
revelations of God are just like a canvas thrown before

Being Called Into Ministry Is More To Me Than A Job, It
Being called into Ministry is more to me than a job, it is a calling from the Lord Jesus Christ to
proclaim the Gospel to every tongue and nation. I did not enter the ministry for prestige, because
mother said I should, or for the monetary benefits. I entered the minister because The Lord placed
upon my life a strong calling to serve in a full time capacity. I was asked; how does someone
know that they are called to the ministry. I answered them in a question. Can you be happy doing
anything else? I believe the scripture to be inerrant and perfect and the complete word of God. I
will preach it, teach it and share in until the day I take my last breath of life on this earth. I have
studied under many pastors who preached the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the conclusion of desires for today s church member. However this is contrary to what the
Lord teaches pastors and teachers to do. Let me remind you that in 2 Timothy 4:3 5, the Bible
warns us that: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own
lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their
ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure
afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. What a powerful truth!
People want their own desires. There is an element regarding preaching we should consider. The
element is known as the mandate to preach . There are many references in the bible of mandates to
preach the word. To list a few that comes to mind are Matthew 28:19 2, Go ye therefore, and teach
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. 2
Timothy 2:2 states, And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same
commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2Timothy 4:2 Preach the word;
be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. And
finally, Titus 2:1 says, But

Differences Between The Governmental Accounting Standard...
Comparing and Contrasting The Difference Between GASB and FASB By: Chris Lawson Keiser
University For as long as human interactions have allowed the exchange of value between goods
or services, accountancy has been the language of which business transactions are speaking (Salem,
2013). Accounting keeps track of and explains how money is used by non profit organizations, for
profit businesses, governments and other individuals. Sounds simple enough right? Well, in all
reality it is not that simple. Nowadays, there are many different forms of accounting let alone
different set of standards that certain, and sometimes all, organizations must follow. Today there are
two main standard setters in the United States that is responsible for providing up to date standards
for its corresponding organizations. Although these two standards are very similar in nature, they
are also very different when it comes to their own individual reporting requirements. Throughout
the rest of this paper I will not only compare and contrast the differences between the
Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standard Board
(FASB), but also how they differ when it comes to their reporting requirements. To get a better
understanding of who these standard setters are, let s go over a brief history and background of
these two accounting standard boards. The first standard board to be discussed is FASB. FASB
was created in 1973, after the Accounting Principle Board

The Tragedy Of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
The Tragedy of PTSD Twenty veterans a day take their own lives in this nation. Suicide among
military veterans is a tragic epidemic in our country. Out of every 100,00 veterans, 3.53%
commit suicide; however, for every 100,000 civilian adults only 1.52% take that same drastic
action (Thompson). A man by the name of Peter Kaisen from Islip, NY was denied treatment at
the Northport VA for mental health issues. He was upset that he was turned away for treatment
so he went directly to his car outside the VA and shot himself in the head (Rebelo). Multiple tales
such as this graphic suicide are happening across the country. I felt this shockwave when my
close friend and team leader, Corporal Christopher J Carter took his own life by crashing and
burning alive in his car. His suicide was another demonstration of failing to receive the proper
treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. A veteran commits suicide every 72 minutes, this is
a problem fueled by the incompetence and difficulty of receiving treatment by the Veterans Health
Affairs, a negative stigma that causes veterans to suffer silently from their mental issues, as well
as a failed preventative approach on stopping destructive behavior before it s too late. Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder is where a person has residual mental and physical effects from
witnessing an extremely traumatic experience. Some examples of this are getting into a massive
car crash, being sexually assaulted or being in a combat zone and

He was smart enough to attend Cambridge Trinity College to pursue a career in law (Doyle 1). It
was when he became a young scientist that he thought through experimenting and observing nature

Dangers Of Driving And Driving Essay
Legal Driving Age Controversy Here s a scenario: seventeen year old Ashley has mandatory play
practice at her high school tonight. Because her mom and dad are at work, she doesn t have
anyone to take her. Usually, in an event like this, she would be able to drive herself to school.
Except, the state has just released a law ensuring that anyone under the age of eighteen cannot
operate a car. The state legislature should not raise the legal drivingage to eighteen because it gives
teenagers the independence they have been longing for, parents will no longer have to chauffeur
their children around, along with the teens running errands and performing tasks for their parents,
and car ownership and driving teaches teenagers the values of trustworthiness and responsibility.
The ownership of a motor vehicle and the ability to drive provides teenagers with a sense of
independence that they desire. As the teenagers grow up, they will inevitably have to live their
own life at some time, and driving and car ownership is the introduction to this. Teenagers need
the feeling that they are growing up, and don t need to rely on their parents as much as they once
did. In the article, Reasons That Teenagers Should Be Able to Drive , it states, Driving is an
important milestone that allows teenagers to transition from childhood into adulthood
independently. Having access to a driver s license means that your child can get from point A to
point B alone and this is of major importance to

This was a significant motion by an informant to supress his subpoena. The motion was brought
about with regards to the limitations of the waiver for confidential informant privilege. The
informant was detained on October 31, 1999 for a home invasion. Subsequently after his
apprehension, he gave a statement to the police connecting three people to the home invasion. The
informant pled guilty on November 25, 1999 in Youth Court. Because of his plea, his declaration
implicating the co accused was never given to his counsel. His counsel discovered that the
informant was considered to be a confidential informant on March 21, 2001. The three suspects

The Cold Heavy Oil Production With Sand
A methodology has been developed for making low compressive strength cores that will be used to
experimentally examine the Cold Heavy Oil Production with Sand (CHOPS) process occurring in
unconsolidated oil reservoirs. The main objective is to experimentally model wormhole (high
permeability channel) development during CHOPS and investigate the effect of various flow
parameters such as core permeability and porosity, compressive strength, oil/water viscosity
contrast, confining pressure and injection rate. Modeling the wormhole development and
propagation will enable us be able to developing approximate Inflow Performance Relationship
(IPR) curves.
Sands blends have been developed by varying the ratios of aggregate, cementing material and
water to prepare synthetic cores of compressive strength, permeability and porosity ranging from
500 1500 psi, 0.5 1.5 Darcy and 20 30% respectively. Experimental setup is developed to simulate
wormhole propagation during CHOPS process. In this process water is injected at varying range
of 0.1 to 10 ml/min using a syringe pump into floating piston accumulator to drive the oil ahead of
piston to 2 x 4 synthetic core in core holder at a confining pressure of 500 1500 psi. The differential
pressure across the core is monitored throughout the process. LabVIEW is used for data acquisition,
instrument control, measurement analysis and data presentation.

  • 2. Irish Music Research Paper Irish Music is Fighting Strong in the 21st Century A young American man walks down a busy city street whistling Loch Loman, while a Japanese woman on the other side of the globe is humming to Enya s Caribbean Blue (). Irish music has made a far reaching impact in the world of today. It reaches people all over the globe from those locally born to those of no Irish ancestry whatsoever. It has bespoken of culture and the proud heritage of the Irish. Song in and of itself is a force to be reckoned with, but the Irish musichas instilled a sense of connection to a country and a people few may otherwise identify themselves with. Irish music is the national photobook of its people, touching a deep chord with so many of its listeners.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the Irish tunes, though perhaps honestly expressive of the flawed human heart, may stray a little far. Since a common theme in traditional Irish music (and arguably, most genres of music) is romantic interest, it is not uncommon to hear infidelity eluded to or spoken of directly in a ballad like Ride On (Celtic Women Destiny ). In a version sung by the music group Celtic Women, the down trodden melody mentions a suggestive line at least once in the course of its lyrics (Celtic Woman Destiny ). People s objections to this is are understandable and perfectly legitimate. However, one could argue that this music can still be enjoyed, it just requires discretion. Due to the many depressing topics featured in Irish music, people may be less inclined to absorb the sense of emanating sadness which the songs convey. It is true that many Irish melodies seem to be a bit dark or sad, in part to their slower, more dramatic pace. There are, however, pieces of Irish music which many times employ the use of the fiddle. There is also always the potential that audiences may just have other musical tastes, which could be summed up in One man s junk is another man s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lewis s breathtaking novel The Magician s Nephew, the Christian themes of sin of pride, objected truth vs. relativism, and redemption are developed throughout Digory s characterization in the novel. Digory and polly were in Charn and Polly told him not to foolishly strike the bell, but Digory exclaimed We shall always be wondering what else would have happened if we had struck the bell (Lewis 56). • 5. The Strategies Of Finding A Mate Lauren SoentgenApproach: 1, Source: Buss, 1994 In his article, The Strategies of Finding a Mate, David M. Buss discusses the act of finding a mate and the characteristics that people are drawn to in a mate. He begins the article with a brief look at the history of mating and the theories that have previously been proposed. In particular he addressed Charles Darwin s theory of sexual evolution and belief in preferential mate choice. Buss proposes that there are three components to human mating. He states that human mating is inherently strategic... mating strategies are context dependent... [and that] men and women have faced different mating problems over the course of human evolution and, as a consequence, have evolved different strategies (Buss, 1994, p. 241). He uses this theory to propose nine different hypotheses to prove that despite humans being varied and different from each other, all humans look for similar characteristics when trying to find a mate (Buss, 1994). To investigate his research hypotheses, Buss collected data from two sources. His first source was college students in the United States. For his second source, Buss (1994) worked with 50 other scientists in order to survey over 10,000 men and women from around the world. This was his greatest strength in the article. He had collected so much research that it made the data seem credible, and the fact that the participants came from diverse backgrounds means it is a better representation of the ... • 6. A Research On Studying And Learning And Knowledge Obtained... Research is a goal an individual aims to discover, learn, observe, and ultimately write about. It is a practice of pursuing the process of discovering knowledge on a specific topic. I once told someone what I find to be intriguing to me and they also told me what they unearth to be fascinating. They appear to have squandered too much time on the issue, but, I was young then and seem to be new to his universe of knowledge. Their advice was doing a researchin order to uncover everything about the subject until I feel I am the expert. That wasn t all, and then I was to study and discover some more knowledge with regard to it. I was quite frustrated with that advice because I would like to spend only a week on studying. Will, here I am, finally endeavoring to carry out that concept of research and discovery through studying and learning some more on the subject I would like to become an expert on. Research in general supports the same concept of learning and knowledge obtained from constant education. Advance research in graduate level has a set standard, strategy, and methodology to keep abreast. Once the individual has discovered what topic holds his/her interest, after that comes the selection of research methodology. This is the planning stage of the process. The researcher has two options, the qualitative or quantitative approach. Simply, the researcher can choose to apply both methodologies in a mix method or can choose to use each, individually. • 7. Does Candide Deserve His Fate Candide, young, hopeful, and naive to the ways of the world. Candide is possibly the son of the Baron s sister, but his lineage in somewhat unknown, perhaps that is one of the reasons as to why the Baron of Thunder ten Tronckh expelled him from his estate after he was caught with Cunegonde. The boy lived a fairly comfortable life and was educated by a philosopher named Pangloss. Even after he was kicked out of the magnificent castle, he remained optimistic that he and his love would be reunited. He was sold to the Bulgarian army, beaten, shipwrecked, beaten again, taken captive by indigenous people in South America, and bamboozled by a pirate captain. He had more than his fair share of tragedy, but he always kept in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His outlook in life was pretty bleak, he had a very black and white attitude. When pirate that tricked Candide attacked a Spanish ship and lost, Candide said that crime is punished and that he received his deserved fate (p. 51). Martin s free thinking responded Yes, but why should the passengers be doomed also to destruction? God has punished the knave, and the devil had drowned the rest. (p. 51). In comparison to Candide s philosophical view, Martin s perception is dark, but more realistic. The cheerful optimism that Candide embodies works out for him because good things do happen to him, but they are quickly taken away; he finds his love, but has to leave her (p. 32), he gets riches, but he loses the sheep that carried them (p. 46). His positive outlooks remains despite the humorous tragedies that fall upon him. Martin on the other hand, has suffered enough hardships in life and knows better than to be so naive like dear Candide. Pangloss s philosophy falls along the lines of oh well, that s

  • 9. Girl Who Played With Fire Think about someone you care about very strongly. Now imagine two other people you also care about. Now imagine that the second and third person you thought of have been shot dead, and you found their bodies. Then imagine that the first person you thought of was the prime suspect and most likely the killer of the other two. Mikael Blomkvist deals with this exact situation in The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson. In the sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo , also by Larsson, Blomkvist is on the hunt for a killer and Lisbeth Salander is supposedly the one everyone thinks is guilty. Her fingerprints are on the murderweapon, and almost everything points to her being the murderer, but Mikael disagrees. He goes on a hunt to prove her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Salander s mother was constantly abused by her father. One night, while her mother slept, her father attacked her mother. Salander spontaneously ran into the room with a knife and stabbed her father in the shoulder multiple times, until he was bleeding so badly he ran out of the house. However, the second event that takes place during All The Evil was the one that the book was presumably titled after. Holger Palmgren explains what happened between Salander and her father to Blomkvist: He rolled down the window, possibly to say something. Lisbeth was ready. She threw a milk carton she had filled with gasoline into the car. Then she threw in a burning match (Larsson 628). Salander played with fire, literally. She hated her father for beating her mother. She hated him for leaving the house and leaving his family. She had had enough. By taking matters into her own hands, Lisbeth thought she could solve the problem and get her retribution. Little did she know, however, she had caused an even bigger one. Her father survived, and he wants her dead. • 10. Alabama Economic Problems The chances of winning a lottery have the same odds as being stuck by lighting on a clear day. Yet, the Alabama legislature is working on a bill that would offer its citizens the opportunity to vote for or against the lottery. Approving the lottery will not assure an answer to Alabama s economic problems or resolve problems the General Funds budget is facing. This writer s purpose will provide reasons that a lottery is not a quick fix, and could create accumulating problems for the citizens Alabama. The first issue for opposing the lottery is, the money generated. Where will this massive amount of generated revenue go, to education, prisons, or the General funds account? This creates a Fund that will generate millions of dollars with no solid plan for earmarking the money to benefit the state of Alabama. • 12. Research Paper On Brown Dwarfs The life and death of a star is both interesting and complicated. The formation of a star might not be as simple as you think. Some stars actually fail to form big enough to ever be seen. You might also believe that a star will shine forever. However, stars can also lose their energy, causing them to become other types of formations. Stars can be complex anomalies that can end up in several forms including neutron stars, brown dwarfs, and white dwarfs. Starformation is a rather simple process. Gasses in space clump together with dust and rock. Over millions of years these materials begin to form small orbs. Eventually it the clump will get big enough to create gravity. The core will become hot from the constant pressure and will use hydrogen to make helium using nuclear fusion. This fusions creates a tremendous amount of energy creating a fiery ball in space.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A brown dwarf forms when a star fails to form. This is why brown dwarfs are often referred to as failed stars . When a star is forming it has to create enough fusion to generate enough energy. Brown dwarfs do not get large enough to be able to sustain nuclear fusion. These dwarfs are called brown because even though they do not shine brightly they still have little heat in their core to give it a small glow. After a brown dwarf has formed it will star in space with its glow of millions of years. White dwarfs are an effect of small star deaths. White dwarfs form when a star runs out of hydrogen to create energy with using nuclear fusion. The star s gravity takes over due to no energy pushing back. The star then becomes extremely dense forcing atoms together. The hot ball is then left in space to cool over billions of years. No known white dwarf has ever cooled because the universe is only 13.7 billion years old and some of the first white dwarfs are still thousands of degrees ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The term Postmodernism is applied to an era that both follows modernity, and also acts as a host of movements that emerged during the era especially in art, music, and literature, marked by the tendencies against modernism. It is more like the rejection of conventional social norms , followed by the Counter culture movement. Counter culture movement spreads massively in Europe and North America during mid 20th century, which is a subculture whose norms of behavior and values substantially differ from those of dominant mainstream society and culture. Its 1960 s to 1970 s development generated a unique brand of its own in the field of notable literature, including comics and cartoons. It explores the fraught relationship of gentleman and amateur naturalist Charles Smithson and Sarah Woodruff, the former governess and independent woman with whom he falls in love. Many of these areas are concerned with ways to maximize their crop production, and often many insects, particularly true flies (order Diptera), potentially affect these crops during the growing and harvesting seasons. Dipterans have vastly important roles throughout ecosystems across the world, mainly having the duty of pollinating as well as serving a crucial part of the food chain, allowing many insects and animals a source of food, without having to resort to the ingestion of plants. My aunt was allowed to stay there until 30 days were up, and I did not stay there at all while my aunt was there. In all honest, I was afraid to stay there after what happened. When my aunt finally moved out, she left over half of her stuff and left the house a mess. She had also stolen some of the things from the house that were not hers. Another thing she did was put crosses all over the walls. One day when my mom and I were at the house, my mom was walking in the hallway, and she noticed that there was something on the walls. I tried to figure out what it was that my aunt had used to put the crosses on the walls, but it had no distinct smell. I don t think that anyone ever found out what it was that she used on the wall. Unfortunately, students are usually unprepared for the rigorous academic effort required for college. Some students get through high school with little or no studying. Therefore, they will face the bitter truth of being completely unprepared once they get to college. One of the underlying reasons for lack of preparation to college is the fact that students at high schools are deprived from being challenged. Many students take classes that do not push them to exceed college level bar. They take inconsiderable classes to avoid homework and any thinking process required for that. When the students attend college, the difficulty of the classes boggles them and their actual work performance decreases rapidly. The students sometimes expect the professors to babysit them and excuse their missing work or an unattended test. However, college professors expect students to read and learn on their own outside of class. If the students don t this, their grades will decline. A semester of bad grades usually discourages some of the students and ultimately causes them to quit college. Another reason for college dropoutis excessive partying and drug abuse. One very common theory is John Bowlby s theory, which describes the special relationship that develops over the first year of life between infants and the people who care for them (Gross, 2011). Bowlby s theory focuses on the assumption that early life experiences will in advertently affect one s development. Internal working models, coined by Bowlby, are defined as infants cognitive abilities increase and enable infants to form a representation of their relationship with the caregiver. Applying this theory, an infant uses memorable experiences, both negative and/or positive, to develop their relationship with a person. For example, if an infant experiences... Sengupta (2011) defines the theory as that, in Maslow s theorization the appearance of a need usually rests on the prior satisfaction of another more proponent need which is the strongest, in the sense that it has to be satisfied first. Once it is satisfied, the next category of basic needs emerges, and will now have the stronger influence on the individual s motivated behavior. Against this background Maslow concluded that only when lower needs are gratified higher ones emerge, which indicates that the higher needs are weaker than the lower ones. The theory begins with basic needs such as food, water, and shelter. The theory than emerges into safety, then love, then self esteem, and finally self actualization. When applied to early infant attachment, if an infant does not receive proper nutrition and shelter it will stall that infant s ability to develop. The most sensitive for an infant is safety and love. Without the security and love of family, food, shelter, sleep, and the body, an infant s development will be significantly stalled and based on the theory, the infant will not be able to progress to the next needs until the needs are met in ... Suicide among military veterans is a tragic epidemic in our country. Out of every 100,00 veterans, 3.53% commit suicide; however, for every 100,000 civilian adults only 1.52% take that same drastic action (Thompson). A man by the name of Peter Kaisen from Islip, NY was denied treatment at the Northport VA for mental health issues. He was upset that he was turned away for treatment so he went directly to his car outside the VA and shot himself in the head (Rebelo). Multiple tales such as this graphic suicide are happening across the country. I felt this shockwave when my close friend and team leader, Corporal Christopher J Carter took his own life by crashing and burning alive in his car. His suicide was another demonstration of failing to receive the proper treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. A veteran commits suicide every 72 minutes, this is a problem fueled by the incompetence and difficulty of receiving treatment by the Veterans Health Affairs, a negative stigma that causes veterans to suffer silently from their mental issues, as well as a failed preventative approach on stopping destructive behavior before it s too late. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is where a person has residual mental and physical effects from witnessing an extremely traumatic experience. Some examples of this are getting into a massive car crash, being sexually assaulted or being in a combat zone and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Dangers Of Driving And Driving Essay Legal Driving Age Controversy Here s a scenario: seventeen year old Ashley has mandatory play practice at her high school tonight. Because her mom and dad are at work, she doesn t have anyone to take her. Usually, in an event like this, she would be able to drive herself to school. Except, the state has just released a law ensuring that anyone under the age of eighteen cannot operate a car. The state legislature should not raise the legal drivingage to eighteen because it gives teenagers the independence they have been longing for, parents will no longer have to chauffeur their children around, along with the teens running errands and performing tasks for their parents, and car ownership and driving teaches teenagers the values of trustworthiness and responsibility. The ownership of a motor vehicle and the ability to drive provides teenagers with a sense of independence that they desire. As the teenagers grow up, they will inevitably have to live their own life at some time, and driving and car ownership is the introduction to this. Teenagers need the feeling that they are growing up, and don t need to rely on their parents as much as they once did. In the article, Reasons That Teenagers Should Be Able to Drive , it states, Driving is an important milestone that allows teenagers to transition from childhood into adulthood independently. • 56. The Cold Heavy Oil Production With Sand A methodology has been developed for making low compressive strength cores that will be used to experimentally examine the Cold Heavy Oil Production with Sand (CHOPS) process occurring in unconsolidated oil reservoirs. The main objective is to experimentally model wormhole (high permeability channel) development during CHOPS and investigate the effect of various flow parameters such as core permeability and porosity, compressive strength, oil/water viscosity contrast, confining pressure and injection rate. Modeling the wormhole development and propagation will enable us be able to developing approximate Inflow Performance Relationship (IPR) curves. Sands blends have been developed by varying the ratios of aggregate, cementing material and water to prepare synthetic cores of compressive strength, permeability and porosity ranging from 500 1500 psi, 0.5 1.5 Darcy and 20 30% respectively. Experimental setup is developed to simulate wormhole propagation during CHOPS process. In this process water is injected at varying range of 0.1 to 10 ml/min using a syringe pump into floating piston accumulator to drive the oil ahead of piston to 2 x 4 synthetic core in core holder at a confining pressure of 500 1500 psi. The differential pressure across the core is monitored throughout the process. LabVIEW is used for data acquisition, instrument control, measurement analysis and data presentation.
