Richard Brinsley Sheridan s Play School For Scandal
Beth Wade
Discussion Paper

School for Scandal
Richard Brinsley Sheridan s play School for Scandal was an interesting play. The play was very
easy to follow and read, and the characters, though mostly stock, were likeable for me. I found a
copy of the show on IUcat, and that performance really stuck out to me because it modernized
the characters from their original rendering. I liked reading this play, but actually seeing it
performed helped me understand some of the intent behind the characters and to really see their
personalities take form on the stage. In the version I watched the gossipers in Act 1 Scene 1
would strike a pose and hold it when another gossiper walked into the room (The School). This
added a lot of humor to the play, and gave a nice visual effect as well. The school for Scandalis a
very relatable play, because scandals and rumors are still very much a part of our society today.
School for Scandal reflects the 18th century through its use of expansion within the play. What I
mean by this is that Sir Oliver is said to be in the East (Sheridan 1.2). Sir Peter states that Sir
Oliver s Eastern Bounty gave them [Joseph and Charles] an early independence, (Sheridan 1.2).
The Eastern Bounty more than likely refers to Sir Oliver trading in India. This time period was a
time for expansion ad trade. England and France were the two dominant powers and they expanded
their empires into North America, India, and Africa (Wilson 257). In history classes

Transtheoretical Model Of Behavior Change
People sometimes have indisposed behaviors that can affect their lives. However, people can
successfully change these behaviors by following some stages that the transtheoretical model
provides. The transtheoretical model of behavior change is the most powerful theory that has been
discovered for evolving unhealthy habit. Therefore, this theory is flexible of any ill behavior that
needs to be changed. Traditionally, behavior change was often construed as an event, such as
quitting smoking, drinking, or overeating. The transtheoretical model recognizes evolution as a
process that unfolds over time, involving progress through a series of stages (1). The
transtheoretical model provides five important stages of changing which are precontemplation,
contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance. To begin, precontemplation stage is
happening when people do not realize their problems. Through this phase, individuals may not be
able to recognize the consequences of their ill behaviors. Therefore, people are often resisting,
unmotivated, and reluctant help. They may defend their current behavior, and they do not find it a
problem. For example, smokers do not wantto quit smoking because they do not see it damaging
their health. After, contemplation stage occurs immediately when people aware of their ill behavior

Moreover, it evaluates an individual s willingness to achieve new healthier behavior. The
transtheoretical model provides phases and strategies for changing practices, and it guides people
through stages of alteration. The stages of changing begin with an inactive phase, into getting
ready, then determination phase, follows by actual change, and end with maintenance. The
combination of these components should have a high probability of producing positive outcomes
relative to alter harmful behaviors to healthy

Molecule X s Effect On Caudal Axons
Background
Precise control over the routes taken by growing neurons is tightly controlled (Steward, 1989). In
the brain extracellular cues play an important part prompting attractive or repulsive behaviours in
cell migration. In addition, they are necessary for cell adhesion, axon guidance and branching
(Erskine Herrera, 2007). For neurons that navigate over long distances, axons can be guided by
chemoattractants that draw axonal navigation in its direction or chemorepellents that deter axonal
growth in its region.
Hypothesis
Molecule X acts specifically on caudal axons as a chemotropic substance that directs them to
innervate the rostral tectum.
Experiment
As instructed by Rosoff et al (2009) a pipette assay may be suitable to perform. ... Show more

Providing convection currents are carefully controlled a relatively stable gradient can be
established by diffusion from the pipette. The response of the axon to this gradient is then examined
over timescales of about 1 h. Furthermore, this test could be repeated using the mutant axons.
Possible Outcomes
The first possibility could be that axons grow towards Molecule X. This would support our
hypothesis that Molecule X is an attractant that may be present in the rostral tectum.
Conversely, the failure of axons to grow towards Molecule x may not support our hypothesis.
Furthermore, axon growth towards the direction of Molecule x and in other directions may support
our hypothesis as it still attracts growth. However, it may also suggest that it may not be a strong

The Importance Of Legitimate Deadlift
The deadlift is a weight preparing exercise in which a stacked barbell or block is lifted off the
ground to the hips, at that point brought down to the ground. It is one of the three powerlifting

University Of Michigan V. Ewing Case Brief
In Regents of the University of Michigan v. Ewing, Scott Ewing sued the University of
Michigan after he was dismissed from their medical program. The case took nearly three years
to settle, eventually coming before the United States Supreme Court. In the end, the court ruled
in favor of the university after much evidence was used including marketing used by the
university pertaining to its medical program, pamphlets, and other policies of the institution
(Kaplin and Lee, 2013). The case arose upon Ewing failing the university s mandatory medical
exam, and as a result, he was dismissed from the university s medical program before he could
complete his final two years. Upon his dismissal, Ewing filed a complaint against the Regents of
the University of Michigan, asserting a right to retake the NBME Part I test on three separate
theories, two predicated on state law and one based on federal law (FindLaw s United States
Supreme Court, 2016).). Furthermore, Ewing stated that the University failed to uphold his
contract as an enrolled student and had been barred by the doctrine of promissory estoppel

How Does Charlotte Bronte Use Imagery In Jane Eyre
Jane is a strong emotional character who we experience in first person narrative. In Jane s early
childhood, she is isolated and treated with cruelty while in the care of her aunt. Her emotional
nature is expressed in the novel through the use of imagery and Jane s conscious thoughts.
Whereas, in the film emotions are expressed through close ups, facial expressions and landscapes.
Jane is desperate for love and therefore her vibrant passion creates her vivid personality. Charlotte
Bronte s writing style is complex, and emotion filled. Her sentences are contain numerous
adjectives and sensual images. Brontes unique style is powerful and strong and filled with emotion
and imagery as we captures in the life of Jane eyre. Jane is a strong willed and a strong minded
individual which shines through even at her earliest years. Living a Gateshead, Jane displayed her

used to describe her emotions and the final fire that destroyed Thornfield Hall symbolises first
sinfulness, then rebirth. The passionate love that Rochester and Jane had was sinful which was

Elements of effective distributed leadership.
When practitioners were asked about their views on the distributed leadership within the setting
there were a number of elements that they believe attributed to the distributed leadership.
All spoke of the wealth of experience and knowledge. Practitioner two noted the flexibility of
practitioner s learning and development . She stated that each member of staff has varying
strengths and interests which give practitioners the opportunity to learn from each other. Many
have emphasised on the connection between highly qualified practitioners and the quality of the

leadership was not expected to come from the highest qualified staff, all staff have the opportunity

Marketing, Merchandising, And Marketing Essay
Retail does not only mean retail store operations; it means creating a commercially viable product,
putting it on the shelf and selling it and everythi ng in between from design to merchandising,

From an analytical standpoint the business of retailing may be divided into a number of functions. In

пЃ¶Merchandising :
Viewed chronologically the first function is merchandising. This term has been given a variety
of meaning; it is here used to describe the whole group of decisions and tasks involved in
determining what merchandise is to be offered, pricing it, and acquiring it. Where a business

know what and how much to buy, they, must decide how to share out their strictly limited money
between the various sections or divisions of their business and then in finer detail, how much of

Machiavellian and Kantian Analysis of Buddy Fletcher and SEC
Machiavellian Analysis Buddy Fletcher was able to use his financial success and philanthropy
to win respect and power. His high esteem combined with his ability to deliver strong profits lead
to blind deference. As Machiavelli wrote, he who is highly esteemed is not easily conspired
against 11 (Ch. 19). In the beginning of his career, Fletcher embodies the spirit of a
Machiavellian leader by commanding influence through his success. However, in the spirit of
Kant, he seems to adhere to strong moral principles, such as not lying and using others as merely
means to his end. However, as details of his success were revealed, his moral character becomes
increasingly questionable. Firstly, he did not disclose the methods by which he was... Show more

This large scale deception is a clear violation of the principle of universality. If every financier acted
like Fletcher, financial systems throughout the world would be destroyed. Trust is a key component
and without trust, these systems would lose all their credibility. Fletcher made an exception of
himself, violating the maxim of not lying, and took advantage of a trusted system and naive
individuals. Fletcher shows his lack of integrity, a quality Kant believed central to his moral
theory12 (pg. 155). This lack of integrity only further demonstrates Fletcher s immorality. Buddy
Fletcher s actions were motivated by selfish desires that he attempted to justify through outlandish
philanthropy. Lacking pure motivations, Fletcher used others to suit his own end. Exercising
extreme moral hazard, Fletcher lied his way into millions of dollars12. When his fund turned out to
be insolvent, it is the individuals pension funds that suffer, not Fletcher himself. This is a clear
violation of the humanity principle. The humanity principle states that one must never use others as
merely a means to their own end. He took pension funds from unwitting individuals and used them
for personal needs, such as funding of his brother s failed movie10. Not only did he lie to investors
about the success of the fund, but he used their investments for personal use. He completely
violates the humanity principle, using

Exposure of Humans to Ozone
Previous studies have shown that exposure to human by ozone is effective to health and it is
increasing worldwide. Air pollution is the serious global threat which is increasing continuously
and the ground level concentration of ozone is major problem in present and also in future.
Presents projected average daily 8 h maximum ozonelevels for future using the raw and calibrated
climate model outputs. The 95% projections intervals accounts for uncertainties in the
associations between daily ozone levels, and daily meteorology and precursors level. The
number of exceedance days during the historical period was 34 per year. Calibrated climate
simulations projected an increase in the number of exceedance days ranging from 2.6 to 8.3 (7%
to 24%) with mean 2.8 (8.3%) per year between 2041 2070 and
1999 2004.
The impacts of ozone on human health are associated with short term acute effects on the
respiratory system, skin, lungs, chronic disease and death. The cellular and biochemical changes
in the alveolar region of the lung can also be measured in humans exposed to low levels of
ozone. The data presented here demonstrate that extended exposure of humans to levels of ozone
as low as 0.08 ppm results in inflammation and damage in alveolar region of the lung. These levels
are at or below the current standard, since the present hourly ozone standard of 0.12 ppm translates
roughly into 0.1 ppm over 8 h (38). Furthermore, these effects were observed using only healthy

exhibits decreased cardiac output and decreased blood flow that subsequently affect the
absorption and distribution of pharmacological therapies. The gastrointestinal (GI) system has an
increase in pH and decrease in peristalsis resulting in delayed gastric emptying and altering
absorption of therapies such as chemo. The hepatic system has decreased enzyme production and
blood flow causing decreased metabolism. The renal system has decreased blood flow and

R = Realistic
T = Time bounded
All of us have things that we believe in for, something that we want to accomplish. Deep down we

Area and Oasis Blocks
Internal Assesment Task 2C

We used oasis blocks, an absorbant material used by florists as a substitute for a cactus, that would
soak up the water, and thus ideally show the percentage water loss by weighing the before and after
evaporation weights.
Independent Variable
The independent variable is the total surface area for each size of the blocks and I think this will

Different Kinds Of Punishments And The Corrections System...
In Chapter 10 Corrections , it went over the history, different kinds of punishments, how it affected
the inmates, and how the corrections system is now and how different it has changed since the first
penitentiary. Being in prison has always been an act of punishment and gives time to the inmate to
reflect their actions. Prisonisn t a place to relax and enjoy oneself, an inmate needs to do work or
will suffer the consequences. We will look more into the different kinds of systems and how we
got to where our system is at today.
When it s looked over at a glance it s seen that hard punishment was one of the most dominant ways
to handle an inmate. When penitentiaries were first looked at it was during the Enlightenment era.
During this time, philosophers and reformers were rethinking of the way inmates were punished
and that the methods of punishment would actually affect the inmate. Before this time, the
European style of punishment was the dominant method used. They primarily used physical

Marijuana Should Be Legalized for Medicinal Purposes
How would most Americans react if the law allowed the use of heroin, LSD, or amphetamines for
medical purposes? Many of us would react in disbelief mainly because of the effects of these
powerful and addictive drugs. However, in Arizona the law permits the use of heroin, LSD, and
amphetamines for medicinal purposes, yet the medicinal use of marijuana remains illegal in the
United States ( Facts ). Because marijuana is categorized as a Schedule 1 drug under the federal
Controlled Substance Act ( Issues ), physicians cannot legally prescribe it. The national debate on
the effectiveness of marijuana as medicine is divided between those who advocate marijuana s

Cannabinoids are only found in marijuana.
Arguably, medicinal marijuana has proven to be most effective for the relief of nausea and
anorexia associated with cancer and AIDS/HIV treatments. For cancer patients who not only go
through the unimaginable pains and discomforts of the disease itself but also the process of
treatment through chemotherapy, the option of using marijuana may prove to be helpful in relief
of the symptoms. In an article published in the San Francisco Chronicle, Kate Scannell, M.D.
wrote From working with AIDS and cancer patients, I repeatedly saw how marijuana could
ameliorate a patient s debilitating fatigue, restore appetite, diminish pain, remedy nausea, cure
vomiting and curtail down to the bone weight loss ( Do ). Dr. Scannell concluded by claiming
...almost every sick and dying patient I ve ever known who s tried medical marijuana experienced
a kinder death ( Do ). This example alone is worth allowing physicians to prescribe marijuana. If
marijuana brings relief by easing the pain and suffering of just one patient, isn t that enough reason
to legalize its use for medicinal purposes?
Not only has marijuana proven its therapeutic value for cancer and HIV/AIDS patients, but it has
also proven to be more effective for most patients than current prescription drugs used. One of
these current prescription drugs is dronabinol, known by its trade name as Merinol, which is a pill
form of the primary active ingredient in marijuana, THC

What Is The Similarities Between Ishmael And Moby Dick
There are a number of similarities between Ahab and Ishmael at the beginning of the novel,
including their beginning the journey on the Pequod in search of the unknowable. For Ahab, that
means hunting the elusive Moby Dick. For Ishmael, that means voyaging to unexplored shores
of distant lands, the terra incognita. For both men, the journey is more than simple adventure, it
s an existential quest driven by the need to satisfy a distressed mind. Ishmael is plagued by a
damp, drizzly November in my soul (18), which he hopes to assuage through travel. He explains
that he is tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote (22), and it is through gaining
knowledge and experience that he hopes to fill in the blanks of his existence. We know that
Ahab, too, is unwell, as he remains hidden away after their immediate departure. When he finally
emerges from his cabin in Chapter 28, it s with a crucifixion in his face; in all the nameless regal
overbearing dignity of some mighty woe (109), setting the stage for his madness to further evolve.
While Melville doesn t name their respective afflictions, modern sensibilities would suggest that
both men suffer from some form of depression. Even while Melville teases readers with hints of
mental anguish to come, the first scene in which Ishmael and Ahab both appear is a remarkably
agreeable one. As the Pequod sails into unseasonably spring like weather, both men are caught up in
the pleasantness. Ishmael describes the

Existing laws in the states that permit physician assisted suicide require that patients have a
terminal illness (including Alzheimer s, Parkinson s, heart disease, cancer, and many other
debilitating diseases). You must be of sound mind (competent to make decisions), and be expected
to die within six months of submitting your request. (Soo Borson is a professor of psychiatry and
behavioral sciences and psychosocial and community health nursing at the University of
Washington.)
C. The specific method in each state varies, but mainly involves a prescription from a licensed
physician approved by the state in which the patient is a resident.
PAS is very different than euthanasiabecause it is centralized around choice.
In PAS, the patient must self administer the medications; the assisted portion attributes to a
physician providing the medications, but the patient decides whether and when to ingest the lethal
medication. Euthanasia occurs when a third party administers medication or acts directly to end the
patient s life. Euthanasia is illegal in every state, including Washington. (CNN).
Two of the costly effects of limiting this option is lack of respect for autonomy and refusing to
grant death upon those that wish for it.

The Art And Science Of Professional Nursing Practice
The Art and Science of Professional Nursing Practice Frequently, nurses are considered the
foundation of the healthcare industry and the stakes are high when certain qualities must be
possessed when working with patients and providing quality care. Nurses have a profound
ability to apply strong skill based knowledge with a caring and compassionate attitude that can
improve patient outcomes. They also play an important role that can positively or negatively
affect the way patients and family members view healthcare as a whole. Professional nursing
practice is an art and science when both elements are integrated together to form a unique way of
practice, but what does that really mean? The purpose of this paper is to define nursing as an art
and science and explain how these two concepts come together to form an extraordinary way to
perform professional nursing practice that contributes to the well being of the patient. Nursing as a
Science Over the years there have been vast changes in healthcare that require nurses to go above
and beyond in their level of expertise in technology and scientific knowledge (Palos, 2014). Nurses
have to evolve with those changes, therefore they must utilize educational tools and develop skills
to stay current with the advancements that hospitals require for practice (Palos, 2014). Palos (2014)
also found that nurses have a responsibility to use their critical thinking skills, make sound clinical
judgments, and apply evidence based nursing

Essay about Ishmael
Ishmael Daniel Quinn s Ishmael is the story of one man s quest for knowledge and his desire to
save the world . Answering a simple ad in the paper of a teacher looking for students (p4), the
narrator is sent on an incredible philosophical journey. The teacher our narrator expects is not that
which he finds, however, as our titular character Ishmael, so aptly named by Walter Sokolow
(p18) as he sensed the gorilla s almost divine presence, is that teacher. This teaching is made

The Leavers do not exempt themselves from the laws of competition while the Takers do. The
Takers, in exempting themselves from these laws, exterminate and remove all forms of
competition in their way. In a lesson where the narrator role plays as a Taker trying to convince
Ishmael, a Leaver, to live his life style (p222) he comes upon the conclusion that being human is
living on your own terms rather than the gods and this is what separates us from the animals
(p225). It is Mother Culture who teaches this since the day we re born (p37), that we should live
on our own terms rather than the gods and that we know good and evil and evil is living by chance.
Thus, Takers are on a quest to find the one right way to do things and hence all our laws and such
contrivances come into being. Controlling the world and the universe is the primary goal of the
Takers so they no longer have to live in any sort of fear and as such they are a culture of the new
whereas the Leavers are a culture of tradition (p205). Quinn relates culture to a mother because of
its nurturing qualities and among Leaver peoples, Mother Culture explains and preserves a life
style that is healthy and self sustaining. Among Taker peoples she explains and preserves a life
style that has proven to be unhealthy and self destructive (p148). That explanation is what sets the

The Discovery Dispute And Its Effect On The Status As A...
For the reasons stated in Part II(A), supra, Avpro enters this discovery dispute with a distinct
advantage due to its status as a non party. Independent of its status as a non party, the electronic
discovery that 50NL seeks from Avpro would otherwise be undiscoverable because Avpro s need
for the discovery does not outweigh the burden and cost of locating, retrieving, and producing the

is de minimis, the burden and costs imposed on Avpro are exorbitant, all in conjunction with the
fact that Avpro is a non party to the underlying litigation, all indicate that this Court should deny

involving aircraft. Lest we not forget, however, that Avpro is an aircraft broker, and as such, this
purported limitation rings hollow. Indeed, perhaps every incoming or outgoing communication
sent from or received by Avpro relates to an aircraft in some way or another. As such, the
incredibly broad scope of the discovery request at issue militates in favor of denying 50NL s
motion to compel. Moreover, in this matter, not only is all the information that Avpro seeks readily

A Glimpse of Dorothy Parker s Life
Dorothy Rothschild, later to become the famous writer Dorothy Parker, was born on August 22,
1893 to J. Henry Rothschild and Eliza A (Marston) Rothschild in West End, New Jersey. Parker s
father, Mr. Rothschild, was a Jewish business man while Mrs. Rothschild, in contrast, was of
Scottish descent. Parker was the youngest of four; her only sister Helen was 12 and her two
brothers, Harold and Bertram, were aged 9 and 6, respectively. Just before her fifth birthday,
Dorothy s mother became very ill and died on July 20, 1897. Three years later in 1900, Mr.

Her husband, Eddie, served in the armed forces and after being stationed at various bases in the

Another big step in Dorothy s career occurred shortly soon after, she replaced P.G. Wodehouse as
a drama reviewer for Vanity Fair, the sister magazine of Vogue. Because of their long separation
and both developing into different people, when Eddie returned from the war things were not the
same. However, they stayed together and Dorothy continued to publish several works as well as
pursuing an active role in the literary social scene of New York City. In the end though, after two
failed suicide attempts and the continuation of her gaining a greater sense of self and knowledge,
Dorothy eventually divorced Eddie in March of 1928.
Before marrying her second husband, Alan Campbell in June of 1934, Parker went through two
more failed suicide attempts (in 1930 and 1932) and published Death and Taxes (1931), a
collection of poems, and two sets of stories, Laments of the Living (193) and After Such

Hollywood and continued publishing works and contributed to as well as worked for literary
magazines. In 1947, Dorothy divorced Campbell, but three years later they remarried in 1950.

Race In Sociology
Race is a concept that was socially constructed to structure a hierarchical order that poses some
races as superior to others. This concept is unable to explain human genome variation and
evolution, thus nullifying the flawed concept with scientific evidence. Human variation occurs
because of evolution, a biological process that all organisms involuntary undergo so that they can
adapt to their environment to maximize their chances of survival. In contrast, raceexplains human
variation as physical differences that determine power of one group over another. To truly
understand why race is such an uneducated and outdated idea, one must study the semantics of the
term, why it was socially constructed, the genetic evidence that proves that we are... Show more

People believe that populations that evolved together constitutes a race. They think that Blacks
are one race that stayed in Africa, Asians are another race that migrated to Asia, and Whites are
another race because they moved to Europe. But these groups only represent the extreme
physical differences in humans. And these groups only represent a small percentage of the
world s people, which is not useful. As human history progressed and humans moved out of
Africa, they were always differentiating along the way. Race cannot explain the incredible
diversity of mankind; it is not possible to organize this huge diversity of 7 billion people into so
few categories. Shared traits are not random. For example, the dark skin of Somalian and
Ghanaian people indicates that they evolved under heavy sun rays. But that s all it shows; they are
not more closely related (using genetic evidence) than any other group in the world. Sharon Begley
argues that labeling Somalians and Ghanaians as Blacks does not show anything about their
evolutionary history and even falsely assumes that they are more closely related than someone of
another race (Begley 67). Humans are all Homo sapiens, the species to which all modern human
beings belong. Humans slowly evolve based on their environment, not because a race gene
determines their race. Other examples include Similarly, the long noses of North Africans and
northern Europeans reveal

Essay On Women In The Great Gatsby

society are plagued with the stereotype of being kind, nurturing, and tender individuals while men
are established as ambitious, assertive, and tough. However, when the time comes for women to

Visual Effects And Its Effects On Modern Films
Visual Effects Pipelines
The film making process in modern films is a lot more complex than it has ever been.
Even the simplest of films require a large amount of crew and equipment, but none of these
processes has advanced the state of cinema as visual effects has. It says a lot that the highest
grossing films of all time are heavily driven by visual effects, one can infer that visual effects are
now a major part of storytelling. The majority of films contain visual effects, even when you don t
realize it. Are the actors driving down the highway? Is there a window in the scene?
Does the actor look unusually younger than usual? Most of these are invisible effects, often shot in
front of a green screen. Within each process that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artists could know what elements were to be used in finalizing each shot, a feat that sometimes
required chasing down information. Now the information would be organized, and anything that
was approved up the pipeline would be made available. They provided training on the new system,
and it worked under a perfect training scenario. Once it was put into practice, it was a different
matter.
Conflict arises
The moment we tried putting this into practice, artists soon began to realize that the
VISUAL EFFECTS PIPELINES 4 system, although followed as explained, wasn t working as
expected. There was a plethora of information missing from the menus, wrong versions of elements
published, and a lot of confused and irritated artists. The system, unfortunately, went back to the
drawing board, leaving people to chase down information the old fashioned way.
Root cause hunting
We ll be implementing a Root Cause Analysis to the problem, intending to find the reason why the
system failed, and what steps can be used to ensure that the new implementation does not go the
same way. Unfortunately, I was not involved in decision making process, and therefore can only
analyse the situation from an artist s view. We ll start off by gathering the data from interactions
with other artists. This was all feedback given amongst the artists themselves, before having it
relayed to the development team.
The first one is the training session: the dev team explained the

A Report On Phosphorous Monoxide Radical
1.Introduction
Phosphorous monoxide radical is a diatomic molecule with molecular weight of 46.9732. It exists
in cationic and anionic states. It is present in a significant quantity in earth crust. It is an integral
component of Cell protoplast and most importantly it is present in DNA. The importance of
phosphorous in Biochemical processes can be easily determined from its preparations from animal
and vegetable materials. 1 4 Hennig Brand, for the first time isolated phosphorus in its elemental
state in 1669 by urine distillation. 1 4 The isolated phosphorous glowed brightly in the dark and
ignited on exposure to air. The various uses of phosphorus and its compounds in pharmaceuticals,
agricultural, biotechnology industry have lead to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also exposed P2O5 at 50 В°C to UV radiation and only observed emission in the visible
region of the spectrum. They finally concluded that the visible emission from oxidising phosphorus
was because of the excitation of the pentoxide by UV radiation emitted as a result of the oxidation.
Petrikaln falsified the theory put forwarded by EmelГЁus and Purcell and demonstrated that
P2O5 did not absorb in the UV region in its highly purified form. The visible emission observed
by EmelГЁus and Purcell was because of sample impurity.8,9,10 He then demonstrated the
excitement of highly purified P2O5 vapour using discharges caused by external or internal
electrodes, in that it was observed that the band in the region 3200 3400Г… was absent, only bands
relating the oxygen emission were observed.9,10 When Petrikaln excited P2O3 in a Geissler
tube, two series of bands were emitted in the UV region, one above 31000 Г… , the other from
2360 to 2640 Г… .10The line positions of the were calculated with an accuracy of 0.1 Г… and
analysed, which lead to К‹0= 1378 and 1221 cm 1 for the vibrational frequencies of the excited
and ground electronic state species respectively. He designated the bands to the P2O3 molecule.10
1.2Identification of Phosphorous Monoxide.
Ghosh and Ball revolutionised the complete scenario by giving birth to the compound phosphorous
monoxide radical.11They demonstrated that Phosphorous monoxide was responsible for

President Truman And President Dwight D. Eisenhower
President Harry Truman and President Dwight D. Eisenhower were each president during the Cold
War. Harry Truman became president during the end of World War II in 1945. His final term ended
in 1953. Dwight Eisenhower became president in the midst of the Cold war in 1953 and his last
term ended on 1961. Truman was Democratic and Eisenhower was Republican. They each had
many occasions when their policies had similar intentions, but they went about them differently.
Each wanted to end the fighting and to limit the spread of communism. They each also wanted to
help strengthen other parts of the world. They tried to achieve these issues by enacting foreign
policies in military, political and economic situations. Truman and Eisenhower each wanted to help
limit the increasing issue of communism. One approach they did was getting involved physically
and militarily in the countries that were in need. The peace conference at Potsdam was a failure,
because communist Russia still stood on their own and as their own separate nation. The Soviet
Union had already succeeded in conquering Poland, and much of Europe splitting up Germany.
After Hitler committed suicide, the main obstacle for the United States and many other countries
was to avoid the looming threat of communism. Truman created the Truman Doctrine to possibly
stop or postpone this issue. I believe, he argued, that it must be the policy of the United States to
support free people who are resisting attempted subjugation by

Twyla Tharp Research Paper
Dance has come a long way since it first began, and that road has been paved by different styles
and choreographers. Modern dance is one of the biggest contributions to dance today. It all began
with the rebellion against classical ballet. If it wasn t for Modern, many aspects and styles of dance
would not exist today. Also, without choreographers we would have no dance. One of the most
influential Modern choreographers is Twyla Tharp. Twyla Tharp was born on July 1, 1941 in
Portland, Indiana. She began taking dance in 1950 when she was nine years old. Her family
moved to Rialto, California where she began taking lessons at the Vera Lynn School of Dance as
a high school student. For college, Tharp attended Pamona College in California. She then
transferred to Barnard College in New York City. She graduated from there in 1963 with a degree
in art history. While in New York she studied under Richard Thomas, Martha Graham
, and Merce
Cunningham. In 1966, she formed her own company, Twyla Tharp Dance. In that company, she
traveled around the world performing original works. Tharp has choreographed more than one
hundred sixty works: one hundred twenty nine dances, twelve television specials, six Hollywood
movies, four full length... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I know that it is hard to keep the balance between modern and classical dance, yet she has done it.
It is amazing that she has studied under some of the most prestigious and well known modern
dancers and choreographers of all time. She has accomplished so much and is continuing to
amaze the world with her talent. She may not be a well known choreographer but she should be.
I hope that one day I can be half an inspiration as she is. During this project, I have become very
familiar with Twyla Tharp. She, honestly, has become a major inspiration to me. Her dancing style
and works remind me of the types of dance I love the most. I hope that I can one day meet

Purpose of the Public Health Informatics Institute
The Public Health Informatics Institute
The mission of the Public Health Informatics Institute is to act as a neutral convener of people
working as public health professionals and public health stakeholders to enable and transform
capacity to effectively apply information relevant to the public health praxis in order to improve
global health outcomes. Three basic work areas are pursued by the Public Health Informatics
Institute: Training, convening and facilitating, and requirements development.
Policy development is accomplished in a number of ways, the most prominent of which is the Joint
Public Health Informatics Taskforce (JPHIT). This consortium of nine pubic health associations
works to coordinate informatics policy and action in order to improve population health. The Public
Health Informatics Institute serves as the Secretariat to JPHIT. In this role, the Public Health
Information Institute can support the policy work of the Taskforce in its efforts to bring
stakeholders together to define and back major informatics policies and priority activities. An
important part of this policy work is the provision of unified and effective advocacy for public
health policy issues. These issues may reflect the need for public health reform, directing resources
to pubic health informatics practice, and establishment of health information technology policy.

Analysis Of I Carry My Heart
A young man is currently in the thicket of love with his significant other. At the drop of a pin
the man would get her anything she could desire, regardless if it is a need or a want. Some
would question why, but it is because it is he who has fallen head over heels for her. For she is
the love his life, his one in a million, the irreplaceable. She is the one who keeps his heart in a
steady rhythmic beat, who brightens his day like the early morning sun. This is relatable for
millions of people in the world today, it is so well known that it could be considered a universal
theme. E. E. Cummings explains a very similar meaning in the poem [i carry your heart(i carry it
in my heart)] . The theme of the poem is that the unity of loveis dangerously powerful when it is
between two in love. Cummings makes this happen through using metaphors, personification, and
repetition.
Cummings uses metaphors throughout the poem to show how much care he has for her. E. E.
Cummings starts the first line of his poem with a metaphor saying i carry your heart with me(i
carry it in my heart) . He uses this metaphor to show that even if he and his lover are far apart, she
will always be on his mind, in his heart, and close to him. E. E. Cummings uses another metaphor
almost immediately after in line 6 saying, for beautiful you are my world,my true . In the use of this
metaphor he is emphasizing that she is that someone you hope to never lose, because you would be
nothing without them. The final

Corrupting The Youth Of Athens Is A Valid Charge Against...
1. I do not believe that corrupting the youth of Athens is a valid charge against Socrates. If Athens
was truly a republic, then every citizen should be given the right to free speech. That means that
any citizen has the right to choose what to listen to. In reality, the people that charged Socrates
were just afraid that his new ideas would spread to the next generation. It is clear that Socratesideas
are vastly different from theirs, but being an independent individual doesn t mean that one should
be punished by death. The main reason that Socrates is charged for corrupting the youth of athens
is because he calls things like they are. In his speech he called out politicians and claimed that
they were full of themselves. This is true even now, but at that time it would have been
inappropriate to mock political figures that the youth of Athens were supposed to look up to and
obey. During this time, Athenians would have linked free thinking with rebellion and viewed
Socrates as a threat. Even if people did agree with Socrates, no one would want to be associated
with him in order to protect themselves, reputation, and material items. Socrates charge wasn t
about corruptionit was about eliminating a source of enlightenment for the people. The real
corruption was the hidden politics in the state going on at the time. The only way the charge could
be valid is if Socrates forced the youth to listen to him. But as Socrates had said, he does not
charge money to spread his

  • 2. Richard Brinsley Sheridan s Play School For Scandal Beth Wade Discussion Paper T338 2/14/15 School for Scandal Richard Brinsley Sheridan s play School for Scandal was an interesting play. The play was very easy to follow and read, and the characters, though mostly stock, were likeable for me. I found a copy of the show on IUcat, and that performance really stuck out to me because it modernized the characters from their original rendering. I liked reading this play, but actually seeing it performed helped me understand some of the intent behind the characters and to really see their personalities take form on the stage. In the version I watched the gossipers in Act 1 Scene 1 would strike a pose and hold it when another gossiper walked into the room (The School). This added a lot of humor to the play, and gave a nice visual effect as well. The school for Scandalis a very relatable play, because scandals and rumors are still very much a part of our society today. School for Scandal reflects the 18th century through its use of expansion within the play. What I mean by this is that Sir Oliver is said to be in the East (Sheridan 1.2). Sir Peter states that Sir Oliver s Eastern Bounty gave them [Joseph and Charles] an early independence, (Sheridan 1.2). The Eastern Bounty more than likely refers to Sir Oliver trading in India. This time period was a time for expansion ad trade. England and France were the two dominant powers and they expanded their empires into North America, India, and Africa (Wilson 257). • 3. Transtheoretical Model Of Behavior Change People sometimes have indisposed behaviors that can affect their lives. However, people can successfully change these behaviors by following some stages that the transtheoretical model provides. The transtheoretical model of behavior change is the most powerful theory that has been discovered for evolving unhealthy habit. Therefore, this theory is flexible of any ill behavior that needs to be changed. Traditionally, behavior change was often construed as an event, such as quitting smoking, drinking, or overeating. The transtheoretical model recognizes evolution as a process that unfolds over time, involving progress through a series of stages (1). The transtheoretical model provides five important stages of changing which are precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance. To begin, precontemplation stage is happening when people do not realize their problems. Through this phase, individuals may not be able to recognize the consequences of their ill behaviors. Therefore, people are often resisting, unmotivated, and reluctant help. They may defend their current behavior, and they do not find it a problem. For example, smokers do not wantto quit smoking because they do not see it damaging their health. After, contemplation stage occurs immediately when people aware of their ill behavior ... The transtheoretical model provides phases and strategies for changing practices, and it guides people through stages of alteration. The combination of these components should have a high probability of producing positive outcomes relative to alter harmful behaviors to healthy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Molecule X s Effect On Caudal Axons Background Precise control over the routes taken by growing neurons is tightly controlled (Steward, 1989). In the brain extracellular cues play an important part prompting attractive or repulsive behaviours in cell migration. In addition, they are necessary for cell adhesion, axon guidance and branching (Erskine Herrera, 2007). For neurons that navigate over long distances, axons can be guided by chemoattractants that draw axonal navigation in its direction or chemorepellents that deter axonal growth in its region. Hypothesis Molecule X acts specifically on caudal axons as a chemotropic substance that directs them to innervate the rostral tectum. Experiment As instructed by Rosoff et al (2009) a pipette assay may be suitable to perform. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Providing convection currents are carefully controlled a relatively stable gradient can be established by diffusion from the pipette. The response of the axon to this gradient is then examined over timescales of about 1 h. Furthermore, this test could be repeated using the mutant axons. Possible Outcomes The first possibility could be that axons grow towards Molecule X. This would support our hypothesis that Molecule X is an attractant that may be present in the rostral tectum. Conversely, the failure of axons to grow towards Molecule x may not support our hypothesis. Furthermore, axon growth towards the direction of Molecule x and in other directions may support our hypothesis as it still attracts growth. However, it may also suggest that it may not be a strong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Machiavellian and Kantian Analysis of Buddy Fletcher and SEC Machiavellian Analysis Buddy Fletcher was able to use his financial success and philanthropy to win respect and power. His high esteem combined with his ability to deliver strong profits lead to blind deference. As Machiavelli wrote, he who is highly esteemed is not easily conspired against 11 (Ch. 19). In the beginning of his career, Fletcher embodies the spirit of a Machiavellian leader by commanding influence through his success. However, in the spirit of Kant, he seems to adhere to strong moral principles, such as not lying and using others as merely means to his end. However, as details of his success were revealed, his moral character becomes increasingly questionable. Firstly, he did not disclose the methods by which he was... If every financier acted like Fletcher, financial systems throughout the world would be destroyed. Trust is a key component and without trust, these systems would lose all their credibility. Fletcher made an exception of himself, violating the maxim of not lying, and took advantage of a trusted system and naive individuals. Fletcher shows his lack of integrity, a quality Kant believed central to his moral theory12 (pg. 155). This lack of integrity only further demonstrates Fletcher s immorality. Buddy Fletcher s actions were motivated by selfish desires that he attempted to justify through outlandish philanthropy. Lacking pure motivations, Fletcher used others to suit his own end. Exercising extreme moral hazard, Fletcher lied his way into millions of dollars12. When his fund turned out to be insolvent, it is the individuals pension funds that suffer, not Fletcher himself. This is a clear violation of the humanity principle. The humanity principle states that one must never use others as merely a means to their own end. He took pension funds from unwitting individuals and used them for personal needs, such as funding of his brother s failed movie10. Air pollution is the serious global threat which is increasing continuously and the ground level concentration of ozone is major problem in present and also in future. Presents projected average daily 8 h maximum ozonelevels for future using the raw and calibrated climate model outputs. The 95% projections intervals accounts for uncertainties in the associations between daily ozone levels, and daily meteorology and precursors level. The number of exceedance days during the historical period was 34 per year. Calibrated climate simulations projected an increase in the number of exceedance days ranging from 2.6 to 8.3 (7% to 24%) with mean 2.8 (8.3%) per year between 2041 2070 and 1999 2004. The impacts of ozone on human health are associated with short term acute effects on the respiratory system, skin, lungs, chronic disease and death. The cellular and biochemical changes in the alveolar region of the lung can also be measured in humans exposed to low levels of ozone. The data presented here demonstrate that extended exposure of humans to levels of ozone as low as 0.08 ppm results in inflammation and damage in alveolar region of the lung. Area and Oasis Blocks Internal Assesment Task 2C In this experiment I am investigating the relationship between surface area and the volume of a model cactus and to determine whether this relationship affects the loss of water. We used oasis blocks, an absorbant material used by florists as a substitute for a cactus, that would soak up the water, and thus ideally show the percentage water loss by weighing the before and after evaporation weights. Independent Variable The independent variable is the total surface area for each size of the blocks and I think this will affect the dependent variable as larger blocks, I hypothesize, will have less water loss by evaporation as there is less surface area for it, as opposed to the smaller (2cm x 2cm x 2cm) ... In Chapter 10 Corrections , it went over the history, different kinds of punishments, how it affected the inmates, and how the corrections system is now and how different it has changed since the first penitentiary. Being in prison has always been an act of punishment and gives time to the inmate to reflect their actions. Prisonisn t a place to relax and enjoy oneself, an inmate needs to do work or will suffer the consequences. We will look more into the different kinds of systems and how we got to where our system is at today. When it s looked over at a glance it s seen that hard punishment was one of the most dominant ways to handle an inmate. When penitentiaries were first looked at it was during the Enlightenment era. During this time, philosophers and reformers were rethinking of the way inmates were punished and that the methods of punishment would actually affect the inmate. Before this time, the European style of punishment was the dominant method used. They primarily used physical punishment like beating, branding, flogging, and any other way to torture an inmate. After viewing how this is the wrong way to deal with inmates the Penitentiary Act of 1779 was passed by Parliament. This act was based on four principles: 1.) Secure and sanitary building, 2.) Inspection to make sure inmates were following rules, 3.) Terminating cost of food for offenders, and 4.) Reformatory regime (Cole Smith, p. 295). This act leads to the reform in the United States. • 31. What Is The Similarities Between Ishmael And Moby Dick There are a number of similarities between Ahab and Ishmael at the beginning of the novel, including their beginning the journey on the Pequod in search of the unknowable. For Ahab, that means hunting the elusive Moby Dick. For Ishmael, that means voyaging to unexplored shores of distant lands, the terra incognita. For both men, the journey is more than simple adventure, it s an existential quest driven by the need to satisfy a distressed mind. Ishmael is plagued by a damp, drizzly November in my soul (18), which he hopes to assuage through travel. He explains that he is tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote (22), and it is through gaining knowledge and experience that he hopes to fill in the blanks of his existence. We know that Ahab, too, is unwell, as he remains hidden away after their immediate departure. When he finally emerges from his cabin in Chapter 28, it s with a crucifixion in his face; in all the nameless regal overbearing dignity of some mighty woe (109), setting the stage for his madness to further evolve. While Melville doesn t name their respective afflictions, modern sensibilities would suggest that both men suffer from some form of depression. Even while Melville teases readers with hints of mental anguish to come, the first scene in which Ishmael and Ahab both appear is a remarkably agreeable one. The specific method in each state varies, but mainly involves a prescription from a licensed physician approved by the state in which the patient is a resident. PAS is very different than euthanasiabecause it is centralized around choice. In PAS, the patient must self administer the medications; the assisted portion attributes to a physician providing the medications, but the patient decides whether and when to ingest the lethal medication. Euthanasia occurs when a third party administers medication or acts directly to end the patient s life. Euthanasia is illegal in every state, including Washington. (CNN). To truly understand why race is such an uneducated and outdated idea, one must study the semantics of the term, why it was socially constructed, the genetic evidence that proves that we are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People believe that populations that evolved together constitutes a race. They think that Blacks are one race that stayed in Africa, Asians are another race that migrated to Asia, and Whites are another race because they moved to Europe. But these groups only represent the extreme physical differences in humans. And these groups only represent a small percentage of the world s people, which is not useful. As human history progressed and humans moved out of Africa, they were always differentiating along the way. Race cannot explain the incredible diversity of mankind; it is not possible to organize this huge diversity of 7 billion people into so few categories. Shared traits are not random. For example, the dark skin of Somalian and Ghanaian people indicates that they evolved under heavy sun rays. But that s all it shows; they are not more closely related (using genetic evidence) than any other group in the world. Sharon Begley argues that labeling Somalians and Ghanaians as Blacks does not show anything about their evolutionary history and even falsely assumes that they are more closely related than someone of another race (Begley 67). Humans are all Homo sapiens, the species to which all modern human beings belong. Humans slowly evolve based on their environment, not because a race gene determines their race. Even the simplest of films require a large amount of crew and equipment, but none of these processes has advanced the state of cinema as visual effects has. It says a lot that the highest grossing films of all time are heavily driven by visual effects, one can infer that visual effects are now a major part of storytelling. The majority of films contain visual effects, even when you don t realize it. Are the actors driving down the highway? Is there a window in the scene? Does the actor look unusually younger than usual? Most of these are invisible effects, often shot in front of a green screen. Within each process that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conflict arises The moment we tried putting this into practice, artists soon began to realize that the VISUAL EFFECTS PIPELINES 4 system, although followed as explained, wasn t working as expected. • 47. A Report On Phosphorous Monoxide Radical 1.Introduction Phosphorous monoxide radical is a diatomic molecule with molecular weight of 46.9732. It exists in cationic and anionic states. It is present in a significant quantity in earth crust. It is an integral component of Cell protoplast and most importantly it is present in DNA. The importance of phosphorous in Biochemical processes can be easily determined from its preparations from animal and vegetable materials. 1 4 Hennig Brand, for the first time isolated phosphorus in its elemental state in 1669 by urine distillation. 1 4 The isolated phosphorous glowed brightly in the dark and ignited on exposure to air. Petrikaln falsified the theory put forwarded by EmelГЁus and Purcell and demonstrated that P2O5 did not absorb in the UV region in its highly purified form. Dwight Eisenhower became president in the midst of the Cold war in 1953 and his last term ended on 1961. Truman was Democratic and Eisenhower was Republican. They each had many occasions when their policies had similar intentions, but they went about them differently. Each wanted to end the fighting and to limit the spread of communism. They each also wanted to help strengthen other parts of the world. They tried to achieve these issues by enacting foreign policies in military, political and economic situations. Truman and Eisenhower each wanted to help limit the increasing issue of communism. One approach they did was getting involved physically and militarily in the countries that were in need. The peace conference at Potsdam was a failure, because communist Russia still stood on their own and as their own separate nation. The Soviet Union had already succeeded in conquering Poland, and much of Europe splitting up Germany. After Hitler committed suicide, the main obstacle for the United States and many other countries was to avoid the looming threat of communism. Truman created the Truman Doctrine to possibly stop or postpone this issue. • 49. Twyla Tharp Research Paper Dance has come a long way since it first began, and that road has been paved by different styles and choreographers. Modern dance is one of the biggest contributions to dance today. It all began with the rebellion against classical ballet. If it wasn t for Modern, many aspects and styles of dance would not exist today. Also, without choreographers we would have no dance. One of the most influential Modern choreographers is Twyla Tharp. Twyla Tharp was born on July 1, 1941 in Portland, Indiana. She began taking dance in 1950 when she was nine years old. Her family moved to Rialto, California where she began taking lessons at the Vera Lynn School of Dance as a high school student. For college, Tharp attended Pamona College in California. She then transferred to Barnard College in New York City. She graduated from there in 1963 with a degree in art history. While in New York she studied under Richard Thomas, Martha Graham , and Merce Cunningham. In 1966, she formed her own company, Twyla Tharp Dance. In that company, she traveled around the world performing original works. Three basic work areas are pursued by the Public Health Informatics Institute: Training, convening and facilitating, and requirements development. Policy development is accomplished in a number of ways, the most prominent of which is the Joint Public Health Informatics Taskforce (JPHIT). This consortium of nine pubic health associations works to coordinate informatics policy and action in order to improve population health. The Public Health Informatics Institute serves as the Secretariat to JPHIT. In this role, the Public Health Information Institute can support the policy work of the Taskforce in its efforts to bring stakeholders together to define and back major informatics policies and priority activities. An important part of this policy work is the provision of unified and effective advocacy for public health policy issues. These issues may reflect the need for public health reform, directing resources to pubic health informatics practice, and establishment of health information technology policy. • 53. Analysis Of I Carry My Heart A young man is currently in the thicket of love with his significant other. At the drop of a pin the man would get her anything she could desire, regardless if it is a need or a want. Some would question why, but it is because it is he who has fallen head over heels for her. For she is the love his life, his one in a million, the irreplaceable. She is the one who keeps his heart in a steady rhythmic beat, who brightens his day like the early morning sun. This is relatable for millions of people in the world today, it is so well known that it could be considered a universal theme. E. E. Cummings explains a very similar meaning in the poem [i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)] . The theme of the poem is that the unity of loveis dangerously powerful when it is between two in love. Cummings makes this happen through using metaphors, personification, and repetition. Cummings uses metaphors throughout the poem to show how much care he has for her. E. E. Cummings starts the first line of his poem with a metaphor saying i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart) . He uses this metaphor to show that even if he and his lover are far apart, she will always be on his mind, in his heart, and close to him. E. E. Cummings uses another metaphor almost immediately after in line 6 saying, for beautiful you are my world,my true . In the use of this metaphor he is emphasizing that she is that someone you hope to never lose, because you would be nothing without them. The final ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Corrupting The Youth Of Athens Is A Valid Charge Against... 1. I do not believe that corrupting the youth of Athens is a valid charge against Socrates. If Athens was truly a republic, then every citizen should be given the right to free speech. That means that any citizen has the right to choose what to listen to. In reality, the people that charged Socrates were just afraid that his new ideas would spread to the next generation. It is clear that Socratesideas are vastly different from theirs, but being an independent individual doesn t mean that one should be punished by death. The main reason that Socrates is charged for corrupting the youth of athens is because he calls things like they are. In his speech he called out politicians and claimed that they were full of themselves. This is true even now, but at that time it would have been inappropriate to mock political figures that the youth of Athens were supposed to look up to and obey. During this time, Athenians would have linked free thinking with rebellion and viewed Socrates as a threat. Even if people did agree with Socrates, no one would want to be associated with him in order to protect themselves, reputation, and material items. Socrates charge wasn t about corruptionit was about eliminating a source of enlightenment for the people. The real corruption was the hidden politics in the state going on at the time. The only way the charge could be valid is if Socrates forced the youth to listen to him. But as Socrates had said, he does not charge money to spread his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
